Chick Foley and The MVP Marco Denton go head to head as Marco tries to take Chick's crown as the Chick Foley Show Prediction Champion!

Transcript

Speaker: Two episodes in one week? Yes, and you are welcome. We just left the Thunderdome, and once again, we never saw it coming. The big dog, Roman Reigns, has joined forces with the advocate, Paul Heyman, and we have some payback predictions to get into, so let's get to it. Welcome to the Chick Foley Show. I am your host, Chick Foley. I'm here at the Sharpshooter Studio, and joining me is the heel husband, Seth Phelps. What's going on, Seth?

Speaker: Hey, how's it going, everybody? I'm still kind of recovering from the shock and surprise of seeing Roman and Paul Heyman together. If you guys remember, they teased a little bit back before SummerSlam 18, but now we're finally getting it. So it looks like WWE is giving us what we've always wanted, seeing the heel of Roman Reigns. It just sucks that they're doing it without a live audience, but hey, beggars can't be choosy. So really excited to see what happens this Sunday.

Speaker: How long is it gonna take the fickle fans to turn this and make it something bad? Like, I'm so stoked for this and the fans are gonna be such assholes. Speaking of assholes, no, I'm just kidding. We have our resident asshole on the line, Marco Denton, the MVP. What's up, Marco? Nothing much. I don't mind that. I've been called a lot worse in my day, so. No, Marco's the sweetest. No, but yeah, I've been shocked too. I'm still trying to,

Speaker: try to gauge what I just witnessed on my screen. It was like two seconds and you're like, they didn't give you enough time to take it in. You're like, wait, what did I just see? And I was like, they just shut it off. So yeah, it's going to make my prediction pretty easy now. Yeah, it's going to be great. So since we had back -to -back paper views this past couple of weeks, we're going to bring you this Chick Quickie episode.

Speaker: as the reigning Chick -Fully show prediction champion. I'm going to toss it over to our ref and moderator for the evening, the Hill husband. He's going to walk myself and Marco through the card and we're going to make our predictions and I'm going to dominate once again. All right, guys. So yeah, I'll be keeping track of Sheena and Marco's predictions.

Speaker: Uh, Marco, I'm still catching up on all the episodes from when I was out of the country. Uh, Sheena tells me that she's pretty much been holding a prediction championship since WrestleMania. Is that true? Um, no, because we had the AEW.

Speaker: When I first stepped in as the three -way dance person, it was me. Actually, it was just me and Phil and you. Then we had the AEW pay -per -view. I figured which one it was. That was the first time I won it. You cashed in. Yeah, I cashed in. I won that prediction. That's right. You cashed in. Because you guys thought MJF was going to turn on Cody. I was like, he's totally going to turn on Cody.

Speaker: make him lose against Chris Jericho. Um, that was a match where if he lost, he could never, um, challenge the AWW title ever in his career. And yeah, so that was the first time. And then I think I want it like by default and I think we like tied or something like that. I'm just going to carry, I'm just carrying around my own, my own title. I just make my own rules like Sammy Zane and MVP. You know, I have to get the title back out. I'll, I'll, I'll put a bin on the paradigm shift if I have to, just like MJF.

Speaker: All right. So I'll be, I'll be teeing up all the matches. We'll alternate, uh, who is going to predict first for each one. And, uh, just so everybody knows the ground rules, if it does happen to be a tie, uh, the tie goes to the champ. So she don't hold the belt. So Marco, you have to defeat her to become the new prediction champion. Or we can just do some paper rock scissors. You know what I mean? Yeah. You're the champion of that too.

Speaker: As of right now, we have six matches. I'm assuming that there's probably gonna be a couple more matches announced via Twitter on Saturday, but we're gonna go off what we have and hope for the best. So without further ado. Ladies and gentlemen, let's get ready to rumble.

Speaker: All right, first match, we're going to start with the the the the openers and then work our way up to the main event. So we're starting off with the original bro, Matt Riddle versus Baron Corbin. Marco, you have the floor. All right. Matt Riddle's first pay -per -view appearance on the main roster against Baron Corbin could go either way. You know, Baron Corbin could win by like a

Speaker: a DQ. He could have his little guy running there shorty G and mess things up for the, for the bro. But I'm going to go with the bro on his first, uh, his first appearance on the main roster pay review, but I'm going to give him the win. Yeah, I think he's going to have a strong outing here at paper or at payback. So yeah, I'm definitely going to go with Matt Riddle too. I mean, I can't, I can't pick against Matt Riddle for Baron Corbin. I mean, Jesus. Yeah. So yeah, I think it's going to be, uh, the bro.

Speaker: All right, Sheena and Marco both going with Matt Riddle. Side note, I think Matt Riddle is definitely one of the brightest stars that they have on the roster right now. I've got a lot of faith in him as long as they do the right things that he will be main event in WrestleMania sometime in the next few years. All right, next up, we have the United States Championship match with the champion Apollo Crews, defending against the original channel changer, Bobby Lashley. Oh, what? OK. Oh, sorry.

Speaker: I mean, I got to go with Apollo Crews here. I mean, he's, he's been coming out strong. I think, um, I mean, I just can't, I can't pick Lashley. I don't trust anybody that doesn't have eyebrows. We've established this. Yeah. Um, so I kind of want to go opposite on you on with this one. Cause he, he can't beat it. Like he beat MVP. Like every time he defended the title, um, I'm not sure he's going to run through everybody in, uh, call beat MDP.

Speaker: No, that's what I mean. Yeah. He beat, he pretty much beat MVP at every match they had. So I think, um, I'm going to go Bobby Lashley just said, make it just said, just to throw some spice in there. Well, Bobby Lashley holding the United States championship. Yeah. All right. Up next.

Speaker: We got the women's tag team championship match. It's going to be the champs, Sasha and Bailey, defending against the team that's been together for all of four days now, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Marco's up first. OK. All right. So judging by tonight, I'm going with Shayna and Nia, the newly formed tag team, only because I do this on the Twitter account.

Speaker: If you watch Sasha's promo that she had against him, she kind of like, she said she'll get revenge basically. And she looked at Bailey like, like she's going to do something. So I'm assuming something's going to happen where some like crazy things that happen, they're going to lose the titles and they're going to stay. They got to set it up where they're going to face each other at some point.

Speaker: So I'm going to pick Shane and I even know they're, you know, kind of like saying that they hate each other and they're not going to work well together. That's kind of to throw you off, I think a little bit. And they're just going to, yeah, you see a team like that. They have to, they have to dominate. There's no, they can't lose together. In my opinion, I've kind of been back and forth on this one because part of me is like, you know,

Speaker: Thinking they're going to just keep Bailey and Sasha together like they're the only thing they have keeping them together is those tag titles, you know, because there's already a little bit of contention there. But something they haven't done with the women's tag team champions yet is use use this. Like we talked about on this week's episode that trope of, you know, the two people who hate each other are tag team champions, and then it pushes one of them into a solo.

Speaker: run, you know what I mean? So like they break up and it gives them, you know, the momentum to push one of them into the solo run. So I could see that happening with Shana and Naya, with Shana getting a good like solo push.

Speaker: Yeah, I'm gonna go with Shana and Nia too. Originally, I was gonna pick Bailey and Sasha, but I think the more I talk it out, I think that could be a reason, like they lose the tag champions. And so now the only thing, like Sasha's like, okay, well, I'm gonna come for your SmackDown women's title. You know what I mean? Like they don't have the tag titles holding them back. So Sasha can like just go full bore. So I'm going with Shana and Nia.

Speaker: So both Marco and Sheena picking Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax, I got to say that's a smart pick as a self -professed kayfabe expert. I will point out that you automatically get a 20 % boost in a tag team match if you hate your partner. Again, you guys kind of mentioned it, but it's just going back to the attitude era.

Speaker: you automatically have an increased likelihood of winning if you do not get along with your partner. So that being said, we will go on to our next match. It's going to be a rematch from the main event on Monday Night Raw, which was interrupted by, you know, the most fearsome faction that we've seen in a really long time. Retribution again.

Speaker: We will see Ray and Dominic Mysterio go up against the Monday Night Messiah, Seth Rollins, and his disciple, Buddy Murphy. Sheena, you're picking first. I'm going to have to say that I think Ray and Dominic are going to get the win here. One, because Seth got the win at SummerSlam, and then Seth and Buddy, or Seth and Murphy, kind of stood tall after, you know, retribution. Some other podcasts, I literally called them meh -tribution. I was like, that's the perfect description of them.

Speaker: Yeah. Um, after retribution, beat them down, like left Dominic and Ray in the ring. So I can't see them just like continuing to beat Dominic and Ray down. Like they're going to have to get a win at some point. So I think payback is the perfect, the perfect time for them to get payback.

Speaker: Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with that. I was going to definitely pick Dominic and Ray to win this. Just because Ray's in the match now, so it's like an actual tag team and Dominic's not by himself and he can lose. They have to get some type of win over Buddy and Seth. I'm going to go with them too. The Mysterios are going to reign supreme over the - True.

Speaker: And if we're going to have to watch Ray for five more years, we want him to look strong. You know what I mean? Exactly. Yeah, definitely. With one eye too. Oh, look at this jobber. Yeah. So both you guys picking Ray and Dom. I'm not competing, but I will go ahead and throw in my two cents that I actually think Seth Rollins and Murphy are going to win. And we're going to see.

Speaker: Uh, I think Ray and Dom are finally going to break up. So think about it. Ray first thought most recently, um, you know, Seth told him to stay out of the way or Dominic told Ray to stay out of the way at SummerSlam, but Ray still got involved. Dominic ends up losing, you know, maybe if, maybe if Ray wasn't there, buddy Murphy wouldn't have been there. Dominic just could have focused on Seth by himself.

Speaker: The rate cost and then and then back at survivor series just like Seth said, you know Dominic helped Ray out and they had a lead pipe and they still couldn't beat Brock Lesnar so I got to think Dom starting to lose faith in old dad and You know if he was this one it could be you know the straw that broke the camel's back So I think Seth and Murphy's gonna win and they're finally gonna draw a wedge between Ray and Dominic. So All right, two matches left to go Marco is going first this time. This is a big one. I

Speaker: We got Keith Lee making his main roster. Excuse me. This is be a solo main roster pay -per -view debut. He also fought in Survivor Series last year. We'll see Keith Lee going up against Randall Orton. Marco, over to you. All right. So I have, I have Keith Lee, but not a clean one. I have it as a, um,

Speaker: kind of like a Shmoz finish. He wins by DQ or something like that or something weird. Only because it's, I mean, I could be totally wrong, but it's his obviously first, not his first pay -per -view, but his first solo match.

Speaker: with probably the best wrestler in the world right now, Randy Orton. I mean, he proved that when he faced Edge and won. I feel like he's gonna win, but it's gonna be, you know, Drew McIntyre's gonna get involved. Or if he loses, it's gonna be Drew McIntyre get involved. The fact is, Drew McIntyre, I'm going with Keith Lee to win. So you think Drew McIntyre's out of his coma?

Speaker: Yeah, he'll make it out of his coma just in time to get involved in this match somehow Yeah, he'll hit someone on accident or he'll have like Keith Lee or something what happened with Keith Lee will he'll get hit by something and then He'll technically win the match because it will be a just DQ on on Randy Orton maybe yeah, I could see I don't think they're going to

Speaker: let Keith Lee get over clean on Randy. Because I still think they got big plans for Randy. Not that if Keith Lee beat him that it would take anything away from Randy Orton because Keith Lee is a freaking beast. But I'm going to go with Keith Lee here because it's like you said, it's his first solo outing. They have to make him look strong. I mean, he was a freaking force in NXT. They literally made him drop his NXT title to come up to the main roster. So let's hope and pray that they

Speaker: treat him right and let him get this over at payback. Yeah. And he's getting payback. I mean, Randy's not getting payback. You know what I mean? Like Keith Lee is the one that's getting payback for his friend Drew McIntyre. Exactly. So Keith Lee's got to get the win. All right. Here we go. Main event time. No holds barred. Triple threat match for the universal championship. The Fiend Bray Wyatt will be defending against Braun Strowman and the returning

Speaker: Roman Reigns. Marco, you go first. Oh, man. This one can go any way. It can go three ways, technically. Very true. 50 50 percent chance it can go three ways. 50 50 50 50 50. Wrestle math.

Speaker: Okay. After tonight, I really want to go to Roman Reigns as the winner of this, of this match. But then my other, my other side of my brain says they can't let the feed lose it. Don't like they can't Sasha Banks, this dude just haven't like dropped the title on his first offense since he's won it. Um, I know this is tough. I don't even know who I'm going to pick yet. So.

Speaker: I'm going to go with this. I'm going to go with the feed retaining because something's going to happen where Roman and grown are going to get like like they're going to get distracted somehow. They're they're bringing Alexa Bliss back into it. So like she's she's now she's a kind of like a factor in it and stuff like that. So I'm going to say the feed retains.

Speaker: And then the Roman's not going to get the pin, though. Braun's going to get pinned. And it saves Roman from not taking a pin on his first pay -per -view back. But he's going to look strong, obviously. He's going to destroy everyone. It's going to look like he's going to win. But yeah, I'm going with the feed retaining. That's what I think. Hopefully. Yeah, I mean.

Speaker: Cause it's going to be a bad look for Roman too. If he comes in, I mean, I mean, he's a heel, so I guess it really doesn't matter if he's got heat, right? But if he comes in and like, you know, squashes the fiend, um, it's just going to be back to the same old complaints about Roman. Like, Oh, they just, you know, the strap a rocket to him and let him do whatever he wants. Um, but, uh,

Speaker: I think I think you're right. I think it's going to be the fiend is is going to retain, but Alexa is going to get involved somehow and most likely will distract Brian because I don't think I mean, she's not going to be a distraction to Roman unless she actually like physically like assault Roman. So, yeah, I think the fiend retains, but I don't think I think Romans not going to get the pin to me. There's there's really there's two wild cards that are in play for this match. So one that I think we're definitely going to see.

Speaker: is Alexa. We saw the tease tonight. She's got the fiend style dread in her hair, which points to Sheena. She pointed it out before they started showing it on TV. And then also, now that Paul Heyman's involved, where Paul Heyman goes, Brock follows.

Speaker: It's only a matter, you know, I don't know if Brock will be there on Sunday, but if I'm Brock Lesnar, I'm a little bit pissed off that all of a sudden, you know, I take a couple months off and now my advocate is working for one of my old arch rivals. So I'm calling it right now. I think Brock may make that trip down from his farm in Canada and head down to Orlando this weekend.

Speaker: Well, I will never see that coming. Yeah, that could be the distraction right there for Roman. That could be the face of Fraser Brock, and that could take him out of the match where he's now you have just Fiend and Braun, and then maybe Alexa comes in, distracts Braun, and then

Speaker: then he gets a pin. Yeah. I like I said, I think Robin's definitely not. He's not getting pinned at all. He's going to walk away clean and then he can still hold on to say, Hey, I never lost that title. No one's ever pinned me. No one's ever beaten me. I love my title back type of things. We can carry that on.

Speaker: I'm very excited because because I can't picture Roman losing and I can't picture Bray losing this weekend. So yeah, I really don't know how this one's going to go. And it's rare when I can't see the finish line to a storyline. So it's going to be a great one. I was really surprised when I saw that they announced this because this is one of the biggest matches that they could do right now and to just give it away. Yeah. You know, one week after SummerSlam, I'm excited for it as a fan, but it's really got me puzzled as to how this thing is going to go. But it's

Speaker: It's looking like it could be a one match show right now. I'm a little bit hyped to see Randy Orton and Keith Lee really get a proper match, but it's really going to be all about this triple threat match on Sunday. And with those three guys in there, I'm sure they're going to deliver. Yeah, definitely.

Speaker: And can we all just take a moment to talk about how much more amazing like just watching wrestling looks like in the, like in the Thunderdome. It's been a full, it's been a full week now. And I mean, it's just like made a huge difference in just like the viewing experience. I mean, I know there's been some troubles, like, you know, there's been some controversy in the Thunderdome with people like, you know,

Speaker: posting things on their screens and whatnot, but I think once they get it all figured out, it looks so much better than being in the PC. Yeah, I noticed there was one screen that they blacked out. They just shut it up. They cut the feed on it. I'm not sure what it showed. They probably caught it right away.

Speaker: at that point. I thought Kenny Omega made an appearance tonight. Yeah, Kenny Omega. Oh, really? That's the only one I've seen. Yeah, there was a picture of Kenny Omega. I didn't see that. I'm not sure if he was actually in it. I think it was like the same picture that you see that meme of him sitting in front of his computer. But yeah, that's the only thing I've seen. But yeah, I've seen a lot of like, they're starting to utilize those screens more, if you notice. Like when they come out, they basically shut off and it's like whoever's coming down, it's like their logo or whatever. Yeah.

Speaker: They're giving you the full entrance experience. Yeah, even behind on Corey Graves and Michael Cole. You can see like the Smackdown thing on one of the one of the screens that they have in behind him. You can see people. So I think they're doing what they can to curb it. There's that and then there's obviously we'll talk about this next week, but AEW bringing in a live crowd this past week was pretty cool. That was cool. You got to hear them sing the Judah song again, which is. Yes, that was real.

Speaker: I heard it in my mind, I was like - The Judas in your mind? Yeah, it was just very, I don't know, it felt weird to hear the audience singing an actual theme song. Yeah, with Moxley was out there chitin', Moxley. I was like, oh my God, it's an actual live crowd. This is insane. Even with just that little bit of people there definitely made a difference.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. Because, well, you had to open a arena too, so it echoes a lot more, so it amplifies the voices. So they don't need a full crowd there. They could just have, like I said, 50 % of the capacity there and just amplify the sound with that open roof there. So yeah. We'll talk about it next week, but yeah, definitely. I was excited about that, having actual people at a show. You missed that after a while, just like you missed Roman Reigns and

Speaker: Yeah, this John Cena makes the heart grow. Oh, yeah, you know, definitely. So I'm looking at my tally here for the predictions and there's some good news and some bad news. All right, guys. So the bad news is is that it's going to be a one match show as far as the Sheena versus Marco. You guys had all the same predictions.

Speaker: except for one match. And that was the United States championship with Apollo Cruz versus Bobby Lashley. But the good news is that that is by far the lamest match on this show. So now you guys have given all of the Foley fam a hook. You know, we have a reason to be invested, um, in, in this one and throw away mats that this match barely belongs on Rob, but we're going to see it on a pay -per -view.

Speaker: It's all coming for the, uh, the chick Foley show prediction championship is all coming down to the United States championship. So if Apollo wins, Sheena keeps the title. If, uh, if he loses, then Marco, if Marco gets the crown. Oh my gosh. And that, and you know, the thing is, is that will be like one of the first matches on the card. So it'll be like, you know, we're going to know early on who, who won the, uh, the prediction. Yep. And then they can just shut it off and not even watch the rest of the show.

Speaker: Awesome. Well, that is our payback predictions for payback 2020 for all of our Foley fam. We will be on discord this Sunday. So make sure you join us as we chat live, um, through the, through this amazing thrown together pay -per -view. Um, and we'll, like I said, we'll be bringing the hype for the us, uh, title match. So, um, for myself, Seth Phelps, the heel husband and the MVP Marco Denton, take it easy marks.
