Introduction and Special Guest Appearance

00:00:16
Speaker
What is up, Goal Line listeners? I am back for another week of the Goal Line podcast, and I have a very special guest with me this week. ah the The originator, the the duo that started it it all, Seth, has come back for Super Bowl week. well What's going on, guys? Yeah, man. It... ah It lined up, dude. You know, I think I've addressed it on a couple of different pods at this time, but not yet on the goal line feed, man. Life was just getting too crazy, dude. Between my new job that I started last summer was just ridiculously more demanding than my prior gig.
00:00:49
Speaker
And then um coaching Brett's football team, it was just, you know, it was getting view. I was just spread way too thin, man. so had had to step away. Thank God my boy Jordan kept the goal line

Seth's Return and Impact of the Winter Storm

00:00:59
Speaker
love going. and And, you know, this winter storm that we've had these last couple weeks has been a blessing and a curse because it definitely has jacked up basically everything here in West Tennessee. But it's allowed me to work from home the last couple weeks. So I've actually been able to increase my bandwidth and free time a little bit. And it just so happened to line up with Super Bowl week. So me and Jordan were talking yesterday. i you know, i didn't want to step on any toes. I made sure he didn't have anybody already lined up for this week. He said he didn't. I said, man, let let me jump back on. Let's talk football one more time this season.
00:01:26
Speaker
yeah it Yeah, it just kind of worked out. I mean, this is, ah yeah, last game of the season, so Seth gets to come back. We'll ah we'll do this one, and um yeah we'll just kind of address things moving forward and just kind of see where it goes. But um there's no college talk this week, so let's just get right into it.

Joey Aguilar's Lawsuit - Will He Return?

00:01:44
Speaker
Hey, I do have one thing, man. what What do you think? Sorry, sorry, sorry, dude. ah You know, and enlighten me. You're smarter on this stuff than I am, dude. Is there any hope that Joey Aguilar actually wins this lawsuit and gets to come back and play one more season for the Vols?
00:01:58
Speaker
Um, based on how quickly Trinidad shameless got told, absolutely not. He was not welcome back at Ole Miss or in college football next year. i doubt with with all the NIL shit and all the transfers. Like, I think they're going to be really hesitant to, um, let guys come back. I just, I think it's cooked at this point. Dude, they got to draw a line somewhere,

College Sports - Are They Becoming Professional?

00:02:20
Speaker
man. i think just Did I see that somebody that's played in NBA games is going back to Alabama or something now? Yeah. this season yeah or g league or overseas whatever but dude come on man like we just have to draw a line somewhere like it just can't be the wild wild west of everything it's really not even college well we talked about this before but i feel like it's just gotten worse over the the last year and a half we've really been kind of diving in this issue it's barely college sports anymore these are like professional teams that just happen to be you know affiliated with with a college
00:02:51
Speaker
Yeah, it's the G League for the NFL is basically what it is. We we got rid of NFL Europe and added NFL college football, basically. Like, dude, there's it's bad, man. It really is bad. I'm happy that these kids get paid because college football is making so much money.
00:03:07
Speaker
But on the same hand, it's like mean, dude, I saw that thing about the Indiana Center two years ago. a center, and a lineman was making $300,000 to go to college at Indiana. Like, Dude, where do we draw the line? I mean, i don't sweat the money. I hate this the constant transfers, bro. like You look at some of these guys, like go through the starting lineup, and you just see like you know it's it's almost like the exception rather than the norm. If you've got a guy who's been at the school all four years or all three years, Yeah.
00:03:41
Speaker
i can still just turn that part of my brain off and enjoy the game but it kills the vibe for me a little bit because i'm wondering like how much does this guy reli and give a shit about this team or this school or the history or whatever and so much a college football is built on all the tradition and and pageantry and everything man even more so than the nfl Well, like a perfect example of what you just said is a running back by the name of Dante

Frequent Transfers - Consequences and Examples

00:04:03
Speaker
Dowdle. So three years ago, he transferred from Oregon and Nebraska, played a season in Nebraska, no, two years ago, whatever. And then last year he transferred from Nebraska to Kentucky, played a season there. And now he went from Kentucky to Georgia. Like, dude, what are we doing? I,
00:04:19
Speaker
I just, at some point it's got, there's gotta to be some kind of limit on how many times you can transfer. If it's like a head coach leaving, I don't think that should really count as a transfer because I mean, you committed to play for a certain coach. I get that. But if you're just transferring to transfer, like, dude, come on. Yeah. Um, one other thing I was asking about, I know you already addressed it, man, but I want to see now that you had kind of some time to process, uh, Raiola transferred, man. Are you, are you missing him? Are you you happy to see him go? What's, what's your thoughts?
00:04:50
Speaker
The thing is, is no matter what, this was always going to just go down this road, I felt like. I mean, it was either going to end his career at Nebraska and they were to like, well, they never surrounded him with enough support and that's why he is the way he is. Or he was going to eventually transfer out and say some dumb shit like, hey, trying to go somewhere where they can develop me. And it's like, dude.
00:05:11
Speaker
I get it. And now, like, to me, it's just such a bad look for him. He transfers to Oregon, and Dante Moore the next week or three days later announces he's coming back. Like, so you don't care about playing this season? Like, you're just fine sitting out of I don't get it, man. Like, with with all the transferring and stuff and everybody's transferring to other schools just to play, like, you're telling me you knew he was coming back and you still transferred there and did not want to play football this year? don't It's just weird to me.
00:05:42
Speaker
Yeah, we but we've both been co cursed over the last ah couple of years with QBs that, you know, we're supposed to be the second coming and just never really quite lived up to ah the potential between him and Nico. And I'm not saying that he cannot be really good. Like, he can be really good. but The problem is he cannot move outside of the pocket at all. Like, there's his running ability is so limited, which is weird because he looks like he should be a really good athlete, but he's just not. And everybody just blame blamed Nebraska's offensive line. It's like, yeah, they weren't good, but you also couldn't make a decision to get outside the pocket at all. So, i don't know. I just felt like it was it was just destined for failure after this year. and Yeah. Good for him, man. I hope it works out for him at Oregon, but also fuck Oregon. Like, I i don't give a shit about Oregon or Dylan Rowe whatever again. so All right, you got anything else? Nah, let's hit it, man.
00:06:34
Speaker
All right.
00:06:44
Speaker
Okay, let's go over the championship

Game Recaps - Broncos vs Patriots and Seahawks vs Rams

00:06:47
Speaker
games real quick. ah So we have the Broncos and Pats. I mean, this is kind of what I expected this game to be. And then the snow started falling and it became even more of what I expected to be.
00:06:57
Speaker
the The Patriots are just usually in an absolute rock fight of a game. Same with the Broncos. And that's exactly what we got. Yeah, it was good. It's hard for me to take a whole lot away from that game. But with Bo Nix being out and then the weather, man, it just kind of was what it was. Credits the Patriots, man, for coming out, handling their business. That that was still a fired up crowd, man. Like the the Broncos faithful salute to them. They brought it that day with the crowd energy. But, ah you know, the Broncos were just playing left-handed all day with the backup, man. I thought, you know, Stidham didn't do horrible, but he did have a couple crucial mistakes, man. um
00:07:28
Speaker
You feel like I feel like Bo Nix probably makes up for an additional three points and we at least get to overtime and see what happens then. um But, you know, it was an even game. Hell of a season for the Broncos. I i know Sean Payton was getting crucified for going for it there early in the the first half, man. But I don't know. I can't get too mad at him, dude. I don't like that play call that they had. um But I get the feeling, like, you know, you want to get 14 points. You feel like if you get 14, like, just with the defense that they have, you could just about slam the door on New England, um especially knowing that weather was rolling in. But obviously, you know, results matter, man. And they didn't quite execute how they needed to on that fourth down play there in the first half. And that was enough of a that opened the door enough for the Patriots to do what they needed to do to get out of there with the win.
00:08:12
Speaker
Yeah, I mean It's really hard to fault them, like like you just said, and Sean Payton, even though I hate Sean Payton. But it is hard to fault them. Like, dude, you go up 14-0 in that game, like you said, and I think that game's probably curtains. I mean, Patriots were not moving the ball at all in that game. And I think this is just kind of a testament to both of those defenses. like Yeah.
00:08:32
Speaker
Yeah, part of me is like maybe they should have kicked the field goal because, dude, again, how many more times you think you're going to get downfield against this defense? Well, the answer was zero the rest of the game. like ah The Patriots just locked it down. And um Denver, like you said, Stidham made that one mistake for the the pick, and it just completely changed the game. I mean, it like instead of it possibly being in a 14-0 game, all of a sudden Broncos are ahead and Or the Patriots are ahead. And like, that's just, I mean, that was the game. Like it just, the game's over. probably was Yeah. That one decision really swung that freaking game, man. Like, obviously we don't, that was still early in the game. We don't know what happens afterwards, but it seemed like, you know that was not your typical fourth down attempt, man. That one ended up carrying some serious weight.
00:09:18
Speaker
Yeah, and I mean, like you said, great season for the Broncos. They got nothing to be ashamed of. Future is very bright for this team. god dude, that division is just, it's so stacked, man. Like, I can't imagine, because it sounds like Clint Kubiak's going to take the Raiders job after the Super Bowl. Like, dude, going to that division just seems like career suicide. You got Harbaugh, Andy Reid, Sean Payton, and now Kubiak. Like, God damn, man. Yeah, thank God for the Raiders being in there, man. But like you said, even they might be on the come up now. You got to feel like Tom Brady is going to keep ah pushing buttons there until they get a winner on the field.
00:09:54
Speaker
Well, I mean, we'll see what how Fernando Mendoza plays in the NFL, but they're at least going to get a quarterback that knows how to make good decisions, and that's been one of their biggest problems is the QB on their team never could make a good decision. So it'll be interesting to see what they do.
00:10:09
Speaker
Other game was an absolute classic, which I'm pretty sure everybody knew this would. Seahawks defeated the Rams 31-27. This was everything I thought it was going to be in more, honestly. Two best teams in the league, man. I really do, man. I think that was the two best teams in the league. And, dude, if you, you know, gun to my head, I think the Niners may be it may have been number three. I think we may have the three best teams in the league all in the same ah division out west, man. somehow Out west is where it's popping right now in the NFL.
00:10:36
Speaker
And then you got the Cardinals. Yeah, and then the Cards. ah Yeah, that was a classic game. Hate it for Matt Stafford, man. I really would love to see him get one more for the for the old guys out there. But, dude, Seattle is just they're a badass football team, man.
00:10:50
Speaker
Yeah, like you said, hate it for Stafford, but, dude, what a great win for Sam Darnold, man. Like, it dude, just absolutely gets shunned by every team he was on. um i feel like that San Francisco stop was just it just saved his career, man. It was doctor-ordered, bro. I got a little of that Kyle Shanahan dust sprinkled on him. He looked know, he got he didn't play a ton, but he got a little bit of spot duty ah when Brock Purdy would get hurt and and looked good, man. Yeah, and feel like just something happened that year, man, because he's been a different player. ah before and after that year he spent with Kyle Shanahan in the Niners.
00:11:23
Speaker
Yeah, and again, salute to the Rams. Puka and Stafford, just an incredible season. Puka's a dog, man. Bro, and not to mention, okay, so now Sean McVay finally turned 40 years old. They just extended him and the GM. like Rams ain't going nowhere, man. This team is going to be...
00:11:43
Speaker
As long as Stafford, because I think he'll at least play next season. I don't think he's going to like that. I'm pretty sure he's going to be MVP, man. And indeed and Stafford looked he looked better than he has in five or six years, man. like He's been good this whole Rams run. But, I mean, this was the best season of his freaking career. a dude has put up some serious numbers in the past, back in those kind of 2011, 2012 Detroit seasons, man. um He was back on that level with the production. And, dude, Puka's only going to get better, right? Puka's still ascending.
00:12:09
Speaker
You know this team drafts like no other, man. They got two awesome running backs. I mean, Kyron Williams is an outstanding running back. I'm not sure that Blake Corum didn't play him out of the starting job heading into training camp next season, man. So they got two stud running backs. ah Good tight end, man. Yeah, team team is absolutely loaded, man.
00:12:26
Speaker
Yeah, put the whole Puka thing is just unreal. Like, you go back to watch his draft tapes and stuff, and people are like, I mean, at best, this guy's a possession receiver. i don't know what the hell Sean McVay sprinkled on Puka, but whatever it is, that dude is an old. All world receiver. He's so hard, man. I think it's just straight up. I mean, obviously, he's a great athlete, dude. But more than that, I think it's just the grit and the determination. Look at that last drive, man. They knew the ball was going to Puka. They hit him twice. Two difficult-ass catches, man. He somehow grabs it. He's catching passes in, like, quadruple coverage, man. I mean, to me, I think right now he is the best receiver in the NFL, man.
00:13:05
Speaker
I mean, it' it's at least debatable whether it's him or not, but dude, just absolutely unreal. But um yeah, again, great game by both teams. Seahawks advance, ah just a machine of a team.
00:13:19
Speaker
We've argued about this a bunch in the past, man. Who would you put up there for best wide receiver right now? You still going with Justin Jefferson just off the legacy? Yeah. So, I mean, if you tell ah tell me I have to pick three receivers right now, I'd probably still go Jamar Chase. Yeah.
00:13:37
Speaker
Jamar Chase, the man. I tell dude, he's a head case. When he's on, I'm not sure there's anybody better than George Pickens, dude. Pickens is badass when he's on. But, you know, once every four or five weeks, he's just going to be in a bad mood and give you three catches for 23 yards.
00:13:52
Speaker
like Straight up right now, i would probably take Jamar Chase, JSN, and Puka as my top three. like i just I feel like those three guys are just I love Justin Jefferson. like Don't get me wrong. He's still one of the greatest receivers. But, dude, just based on what those three are doing right now, I i i think that's who you have to take. i feel you.
00:14:12
Speaker
All right, let's get into the Super Bowl.

Coaching and Quarterback Comparisons

00:14:14
Speaker
We're going to do this a little bit different. I just I had a kind of a different idea for how we're going to go through the Super Bowl just because I mean, how much can we talk about both these teams? Like we we've already talked about them enough in these two games we discussed. So we're going to go like ah this or that kind of thing. yeah So we'll start with coaching.
00:14:31
Speaker
ah You take in Vrabel or McDonald as your head coach? Vrabel with the caveat. I love McDonald, but you Vrabel was my dude, man. I was sad to see the Titans leave him go. I feel like he is, uh, he's just going to make the most that whatever you give him to. So that Titans team that last year he was there was absolute dog shit. And they still had some high quality wins, man. They not Jacksonville had the playoffs. They had that Monday nighter. Um, they had that Monday nighter against the dolphins where they came back from two touchdowns down at the end. They beat a tough Texans team in Houston. And, uh,
00:15:03
Speaker
And, you know, he had Will Levis looking like he was the QB of the future, man. So I think this is a guy who gets the absolute most out of whatever whatever lineup he's got. So I'll still go over Abel.
00:15:15
Speaker
This is like, to me, a straight toss up because I do think Mike McDonald is really that good. I'm going to go McDonald. Just the age of him and just like what he's doing right now. I mean, the Ravens fell apart the minute he he left. Like their defense just completely fell apart the minute he left. So I'm going to go him. Like what he's built in two years in Seattle is kind of unreal.
00:15:37
Speaker
um Okay. QB, Sam Darnold or Drake May? going Drake May. sit Peak Sam Darnold is good, man. He's a gun gunslinger. um But, dude, I feel like you're never getting more than like 95% confidence level with Sam Darnold. I don't feel like you're ever going to be 100% with Sam Darnold because we just we've seen too many meltdowns in the past, man. We've seen it too many times. We know that it seems like he's got him buried pretty deep down there, but we know that that guy still exists inside there sometime, man. It can go out and you know turn the ball over four times in a quarter and a half. and just straight up deep six you, man. Whereas Drake may, um you know, I got a lot of confidence in him. I think Drake may somebody that really enhances your your team's chances to win every time he's out there. It seems like he's confident. it seems like the players buy into him.
00:16:21
Speaker
Sam Darnold was beloved to by his teammates, but I just, I've seen too many Sam Darnold crash outs, man. That's why I go Drake may. I'm going to go Drake May as well. And for the same exact reasons, like I I've been saying it for a month, like when does the Sam Darnold game where he turns back into a pumpkin come into effect? Like, dude, it could happen anytime. You just, you never know with him. And you know what, man, if it doesn't happen, maybe we were all wrong. And maybe he is a different quarterback now. Like there's something to be said about the system he's in the team he's on. Like ah there is something to be said about that. Maybe that guy's gone. Maybe it just isn't coming back, but yeah, If I'm gun to my head, I'm taking Drake May. i just I feel like Drake May has all the tools to be really good for a really long time. Facts.
00:17:07
Speaker
um Okay, let's do running backs. Granted, Seattle doesn't have Charbonnet, so we'll just do the top running back. Are you taking Kenneth Walker or Romandre Stevenson? Come on, man.
00:17:17
Speaker
Come on, dude. yeah It's the main reason. I'm rooting for the for the Seahawks, dude. I'm rooting for the Seahawks hard in the Super Bowl, despite my boy Vrabel coaching the Patriots, dude. We have you know the the program that Brett's in that I coach with Arlington Tigers. We got one of our own, man, Arlington Tiger, Kenneth Walker III, starting at running back for the Seahawks. I'm taking K-9 all day, man.
00:17:37
Speaker
I love Kenneth Walker. I just I like how he plays and Charbonnet going out was obviously bad for them. But Kenneth Walker gets so much more shine now because Kenneth Walker is by himself. So I can't remember. Did I ever send you that highlight video of him at Arlington?
00:17:53
Speaker
Yeah, you did. You showed it to It's ridiculous, bro. Arlington's not any kind of football powerhouse. Like, they they haven't been good since he was there. So, it's not like he was on some super high-powered school. And, dude, it's just it's ridiculous. You think of, like, when, you know, you played or you've seen games and, like, you see, like, the best player on the field in high school, you go, man, that guy's really good. Like, no, this dude straight up jumped off the field. There'd be times where, like, it'd be, like, five, six guys around him and somehow he'd just run straight through for the touchdown. Like, you really see what ah what an NFL player looks like in high school seeing seeing clips like these, man.
00:18:23
Speaker
Yeah. He's unreal. um Okay. For I'm, we're going to lump wide receivers and tight ends together. Just do the whole unit as a, the whole thing as a whole, i mean, to me, it's a bar none. It's Seattle's unit over the Patriots unit. I, I, Seattle's receivers are all really good I mean they've kept playing like cups like he started yeah he's starting to play really well and they have one of the best three receivers in the NFL like yeah Jack Smith and Jigman might be the best pure route runner in the NFL right now um you got Bobo who's like it looks like he's gonna be the next Cooper Cup dude another tall wa fast white dude out there man uh Yeah, Shahid's freaking speed demon, man. he you know he He found new life, finally getting out of New Orleans, dude. So yeah, you know to me, I take the wide receivers and tight ends. really Outside QB, the whole roster man for Seattle is just, you know I think they're a level or two levels ahead of what New England's rolling in here with.
00:19:20
Speaker
Yeah, it is kind of unreal just how much of a juggernaut Seattle looks like. Dude, I just... I mean, if you don't win this game, dude, it's not going to look good for Seattle if they don't win this game, I think. I mean, we were going do line and defense, but I agree with you. I think Seattle is just better at every... It's more talent, man. I think it's because they didn't have the flashy QB pickup either in the draft or free agency, man. I think it kind of bubbled below the the radar what they built over the last two or three years. But yeah, man, like they're, they they're right there, man, is with the best rosters in the league as far as straight up talent goes. You know, if you're, if you're playing Madden and you pick a team to start a franchise with man, Seattle's definitely got to be one of the top picks right now because they're just loaded down too deep. It's just about every position.
00:20:08
Speaker
Okay, so we both agree Seattle has a better roster.

Super Bowl Predictions and Bets

00:20:12
Speaker
Let's go prediction of what you think the game's going to be. um Let's go what we think the halftime score is, first of all.
00:20:21
Speaker
Well, let's start there. What do we think the first half looks like? I think it starts slow. I think Vrabel is going to be in his bag, cook up a hell of a game plan. um i'm looking I'm thinking something like 10-13 the half, man. um you know Either team could be winning. I do think the Pats keep it close for for a couple quarters.
00:20:39
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. I think the first half is just going to be a ah rock fight. it's gonna That kind of game does favor New England. like That's the game they want it to be. They don't want Seattle to get out and run the ball and ah have JSN getting wide open. But I just think, having said all that, I just think they wear down in the second half, and I think Seattle just imposes their will in the second half of this game. yeah I cannot believe that this line is still only four and a half. like Just look, and I get it. Me and you talked about this. Like, dude, it is the Super Bowl and it is Ray Bowl. I think you get a lot of legacy love for the Patriots, too. you know I mean? I think you get a lot of casuals that are like, oh, Patriots are back in the Super Bowl. Let's lay some money on them, man. So I think that's got to be contributing to it a little bit. Yeah.
00:21:23
Speaker
But I'm I'm with you, man. I think the talent gap is just too much. if If Seattle was was not as much of a well coached team as they are, I would think there'd be a little bit more of a risk of, you know, the Patriots being able to overwhelm them with some kind of unorthodox game plan. and find a way, but they are super well-coached, well-ran team. And I just see them slowly pulling away, man. If if Drake Mays got the ball and a chance to win in the last five or six minutes, I'll be surprised, man. I'm i'm thinking, i don't think it's going to blowout, but I think Seattle ends up winning this thing by about 10 or 13 points.
00:21:55
Speaker
I agree. i I just think Seattle is far and away the better team, and I think they'll show it by the end of that game. So, um yeah, we're both all in on Seattle, which probably means New England wins.
00:22:06
Speaker
That's about how things go for me and you. Yeah. Are you doing this or that? Are you watching Bad Bunny or are you watching Kid Rock at halftime? i I'll just leave the game on. I mean, i I usually don't. I don't think I'm flipping my channel to turn on Kid Rock. like oh much Dude, if this was like 1999, I think I'd probably watch Kid Rock. but I like Bad Bunny, man. I feel like Kid Rock's not going to anything. mean, I like Kid Rock, but I don't feel like he's going to do anything that I haven't seen Kid Rock do for the last 25 years at this point, man. I'm excited to see what Bad Bunny pulls out. Yeah, Bad Bunny might drop a leg drop on somebody in the middle of the set. like I got to see it and see what it's like. Set up a little WrestleMania match. We still need that Bad Bunny versus Logan Paul match to happen at some point.
00:22:46
Speaker
Yeah. ah Do you still have the DraftKings app on your phone? ah Yes, dude. I think so. I have not looked at any of this stuff yet, but we're going to go with some of our favorite bets for the Super Bowl. I thought this would be kind of fun. And, Noah, I didn't warn you on purpose because I didn't want us to be able to study ahead. I just kind of want to get our, like, natural in-the-moment thoughts on what we think is possibly going to happen in this game. Hold up. I'm read re-downloading, man. It'll take, like, 10 seconds. No, you're good.
00:23:14
Speaker
Here, I'll it started. need to go to a special tab, or is it... There's literally a tab at the top that says Super Bowl. You just click right on the Super Bowl tab, and it has everything listed in here. mean, there's everything.
00:23:26
Speaker
um Okay, so I always go with this. like ah my My starting bet is always Tails for the coin toss. like We're just going to run down the list of things that I usually bet. Yeah, Tails never fails, man I agree. I always bet Tails. um Gatorade flavor.
00:23:43
Speaker
I usually take like a flyer on one of these, these um higher ones, but dude, water and clear is the highest. And I just, that's not fucking happening. And and then red and pink is second highest. And I also don't think that's happening. I don't think you want red dye open in your body and in the Superbowl. I think I'm going to go with blue. I think blue, i feel like I've seen like the blues and the greens, man, the last couple of years.
00:24:09
Speaker
Check out this one, man. I like this one, dude. So this is rewrite history. Bet Seattle to avenge Super Bowl 49 and find the end zone on a goal line pass. So this is the the bet is for the Seahawks to throw a touchdown pass inside the one yard line. That's plus 1100. That's not a bad bet, dude. that that They got to get tight, right? I'd like it a lot better if it was like, you know, inside the three or something. But but yeah, inside the one is 1100 bucks, man.
00:24:33
Speaker
That is a cool bet. i get That's an awesome bet. ah I also saw there's a bet if somebody doinks an extra point or a field goal. That's kind of cool, too. Yeah, I'm looking at that, too, man. um I'm 100% going to bet ah Kenneth Walker to score at least one touchdown. like i I feel like that's easy money.
00:24:55
Speaker
That's one of my other favorites is Kenneth Walker. God damn it, I saw something earlier. just If Seattle just attempts a pass inside the one-yard line, that pays $5.50. So you could double up, dude. Put that the attempt down the the score, man. You're looking at potentially $1,200 off $200 The novelty props are like some of the best things. I mean, just like some of the stuff you can bet in this is just crazy. Like any non-quarterback to throw a touchdown pass is plus 1400.
00:25:24
Speaker
um Score on the first offensive plays plus 2000. I figured it'd be even higher than that, dude. Bro, I think will there be a kickoff return for a touchdown plus 2,200? Good possibility. That's some good money. Yeah, they got two weeks to coach it up. Plus, you know, any kind of special gimmick or, you know, you know really fancy, um you know, blocking formation that they've had cooked up, they're going to unleash it, man. Like these teams are going to be in their bag this week for sure.
00:25:51
Speaker
Yeah, I like that one a lot. Lineman score TD plus 2,200. I heard a new term for that, man, ah last week. Somebody called that a thick six when a lineman catches a touchdown pass. I love that.
00:26:02
Speaker
um Look at the Super Bowl record breakers tab. Any player to have seven-plus passing touchdowns plus 25,000. Jeez.
00:26:13
Speaker
Any player to have plus 15 receptions, plus 4,000, like, dude, that doesn't seem very high to me. Plus 4,000 for 16 catches is that seems like a lot. Yeah. How many times has somebody even caught 16 passes in the NFL in history, man? Like a handful.
00:26:28
Speaker
Yeah, that's crazy. But I just wanted to go through these real quick. Obviously, I'm going to take Seattle in this game. I just like I said, I think four and a half is too low. Do you have your final bet card figured out for the Super Bowl yet? Are you still cooking around with what you're going No, I still go around um in a couple more days and just kind of look at it. the The MVP voting, I always go with somebody that's not a quarterback because I just, even if the quarterback wins, you ain't winning much money. So I think I'm going to take JSN for ah either JSN or Kenneth Walker for MVP in this game because both their odds are pretty good.
00:27:03
Speaker
Yeah, can't what's the odds for Sam Donald? I can't imagine those are very good. Plus 115. Yeah, i feel like I feel like the media is going to look for a reason to give it to Sam. Like, if it's close, he's getting it because, you know, it's always like the they always like to put a little bow on the story with these things.
00:27:16
Speaker
Yeah, if he does anything even remotely good in that game, he's definitely going to win it. Um, okay. Let's, uh, let's just go through this real quick, just because i haven't had Seth on here in a while.

Season Reflections and Key Team Changes

00:27:28
Speaker
Let's just kind of give our thoughts on the season as a whole. Like, like, what do you take out of this season more than anything? I mean, um, like what did you see this season that maybe you didn't expect or like moving forward? What do you think changed after this season?
00:27:44
Speaker
Um, you know, I think the big story is still, you know, the chiefs, man, like we finally saw the chiefs fall off, dude. Everybody was believing, man. It seemed like when they lost that game to Jacksonville on Monday night football, man, it seemed like that was like a little bit a turning point. Do you like they have a little bit of momentum going before that? Um, but I'm just interested to see, you know, they, they've been the defining team of the 2020 so far. So I'm just interested interested to see if they're able to, to bounce back or, uh, with, you know, kind of the similar core that they have right now, or if it really is, you know, if we're going to, be kind of similar to Brady, man. You remember Brady had a, um, a six, let's see, it was 2007. And then, yeah, Brady had like a six year gap between winning Superbowls, man. Um,
00:28:25
Speaker
We'll see if we see like that with Patrick Mahomes, if there's a little break before the Chiefs come back up again if they're able to bounce right back. Like you said, that AFC West is looking brutal, man. And despite all the success the Chiefs have had over the last seven, eight years, they're starting off 2026 season at 0-0, and they're going to have to climb back up out of that valley, man. So I'm kind of just really interested to see what the Chiefs do next year. Dude, this the first time in the Mahomes era that they haven't been in the Final Four. It's really, really shocking, man, that they go from all that to not even making the playoffs.
00:28:55
Speaker
Yeah, yeah it's ah it's it's really crazy. I'm going to stick with AFC as well. like I'm really interested see what happens with the Ravens moving forward. i mean, firing John Harbaugh is just...
00:29:08
Speaker
I don't know, man. That just seems like a really bold decision. I mean, I know it's all about what have you done for me lately, but like this means that they 100% chose Lamar and are on Lamar's side. And I get it, dude. He's a hell of a player, but this league is all about what you do in the playoffs. and Lamar, when he gets to the playoffs, is just he's not the same. There's some weird stuff coming out, man. We never heard it 100% confirmed, but there was definitely like you know some rumblings like, oh, you know Lamar sleeps during team meetings and You know, other players get in trouble for that, and he doesn't. You know, Lamar's late sometimes. He doesn't get in trouble for it. Just kind of yeah, I think, i don't man. Some weird stuff coming out of Baltimore. i so I love Lamar Jackson. I'm a fan. Oh, yeah.
00:29:49
Speaker
But, yeah, I was a little bit surprised that all played out as well. When there was that little bit of rumblings after the season, man, I kind of just assumed they'd get it sorted out and find a way to keep Harbaugh there, man. But, no, Harbaugh's on to New York. What do you think how he's going to do in up in New York, man. You think ah Jackson Dart's really the really that guy? And we're going to see a renaissance of the Giants?
00:30:08
Speaker
See, dude, this is my problem with the Giants, man. They're two... Well, two of their three best players are Dart and Scadaboo, and both those guys' favorite color is five. Like, dude, it just...
00:30:22
Speaker
I do not think the way Jackson Dart plays football is going to lead to a long career. Cam Scadaboo ain't going to be in the league in five years. There's no fucking way. That guy's almost blinded right now. like And it's fun to watch him play, and it's fun to watch Jackson Dart play. But i don't know, man. Maybe Harbaugh teaches him, like, dude, he was with Lamar, but, dude, Lamar still gets banged up a lot, even playing safe. Lamar doesn't take those hits like Jackson Dart does, man.
00:30:47
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's just one of those things, and it's like everybody just points to Josh Allen. It's like, well, yeah, Josh Allen's like six seven Yeah, he's like an F-150 that can throw. 260. dude, he takes those hits. He's not necessarily a small guy, but he's not a huge guy either, dude.
00:31:03
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. I think they'll be decent. That's a tough division, though, dude. Whatever we want to say about Dallas, we all rag on Dallas. Philadelphia ain't going anywhere, and then we'll see what Washington does next year. like That's a tough division, man. i mean i think they're going to win some games, like i just but I'm not like fully on board to the point where I think, like oh, man, they're going to go worst to first or anything like that. Yeah, it's tough to say the Eagles still the Eagles, man. i think the Cowboys are a lot better than their record their final record was this year, man. I think the Cowboys were a pretty good football team this season. Just didn't quite show up in the win-loss column. um
00:31:38
Speaker
what do What do you think of the Falcons coaching hire? So, dude, it with with the GM and then hiring Matt Ryan to be an executive, like, dude, like I watched the GM press conference today, and like a lot of the stuff he was saying, it just feels like they're doing like a full reset and that they're going to try something completely different, which thank God, because what they've been doing is just not working.
00:32:02
Speaker
I'm going to be honest with you, man. With Matt Ryan up there, like i just and Rich McKay finally gone. I just feel like they're they're turning a different corner here, and I don't care what anybody says about Stefanski, dude. He coached the fucking Browns, and that is the most dysfunctional franchise. That's some success, man. Won a playoff game. Won a road playoff game. Got him to the playoffs with Joe Flacco. Yeah, I think, like I said, i withhold judgment. We talked about this before, man, with not knowing how involved he was in the Deshaun Watson deal, man.
00:32:34
Speaker
yeah Yeah, without not knowing how involved he was in that, I will give him a pass, man, for everything that happened. up in Cleveland, dude. Yeah. And like you said, man, it's hard not to be confident Matt Ryan, dude. With Matty Ice in the building, and you feel like things are going to be okay.
00:32:48
Speaker
I'm not going to get overconfident, but that division is bad. That division is very, very bad. We talked about it in the preseason that we thought not necessarily that they were going to be one of the best teams in the NFC, but they should have been able to you know get five or six wins out of the that division schedule and let that power them to a high seed in the playoffs, man. And it just, dude, the start was horrible. what What do you think about the I saw it come out that it looks like they're most likely going trade or release Kirk Cousins' offseason, dude. I'm not dude, I I don't necessarily hate the thought of at least having him and Phoenix ah ah compete in the offseason, man. I thought Cousins looked pretty decent down the stretch.
00:33:28
Speaker
I just think they need to get younger at quarterback, and I think that's the reason for it. Like, dude, Penix already has mean, basically has 40-year-old knees as a 26-year-old. Like, dude, you need somebody in there because, I mean, you can't have two old guys, and it ain't like Kirk Cousins is exactly the model of health at this point in his life. Yeah, he's definitely not the long-term answer. I feel you on that, man. I just I thought he earned a little bit more love than he's getting with that run that they went on there the end of the year.
00:33:56
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it's it's just one of those things where it's like, i feel like you just get, you got to get younger and we'll just kind of see where it goes from there. So I wasn't, ah I wasn't super excited about Robert Sala getting hired by the Titans, but then, you know, I've liked the hires that they brought in since then, man. I really like, um,
00:34:13
Speaker
you know Brian Dayball, an offensive coordinator. The only thing that sucks about it is that I can see him being one and done. you know If the Titans do have a big turnaround, man and Cam Ward looks awesome this offseason, he's going to be gone. yeah i mean He's going get a job somewhere else. dude that's what all that's That's always the risk you take when you've got a defensive head coach. man You always risk having ah you know your offensive wizard walk out the door, man. But I do, you know, I'm a little bit more optimistic for the Titans 2026 than I was um a couple weeks ago. And we're getting new uniforms, man. We're getting a jersey refresh this year. So are the Falcons. Nice. the Man, the Falcons just had one not too long ago, dude. I feel like, what was that, 2020 when the their last new jerseys came out?
00:34:55
Speaker
Yeah, I dude, I feel like they're just going to go back to the throwbacks with the with the red helmet. I feel like that's what's coming. That's the rumor for the Titans uniforms. The current speculation that like there's been a couple of weeks and stuff, man, you know, you always never know how reliable that stuff is, but it looks like they're going to go back to something that looks very, very similar to the Oilers jerseys, but just with an updated Titans logo. I think they're going to go with using more of their sword logo than the the flaming T thing. Yeah.
00:35:23
Speaker
They should have waited one more season until that new stadium opens. have it all months I agree, man. Yeah. I don't know why you, i don't know why you wouldn't do the full rebrand then, but I don i guess they want to get ahead of it. Cause dude, you, you need full fan support going into that new stadium, especially if they have a rough year next year, like you're going to need something to get people in that stadium and just saying it's brand new, ain't going to get people in that stadium.
00:35:46
Speaker
Yeah, I'll tell you, do my i already see what it's going to be, man. Unless they really have a dramatic turnaround, which maybe it's possible. I'm not super confident it happens. We're going to be the most popular road game, dude. We're going to be the game every other team looks at and says, yep, that's the road trip we're taking this this season, dude, because Nashville is such a fun place anyways. and now they're going to have the bright, shiny new stadium to go along with it.
00:36:06
Speaker
Yeah, it's them and the Raiders. Like, dude, that's the two road games everybody goes to now. Yeah. That's it, man. Um, this is kind of a tidy episode, but we only got one game to talk about. do you have anything else? No, man. Thanks back, dude. I give salute to Jordan, man. He's done a great job keeping this thing going, man. We'll definitely see what it looks like for next season, man. It's never going to die all the way. um but we'll we'll figure out what it looks like once we get this offseason and kind of see where both our schedules are looking like, man. um We'll be a new episode of the Chick-fil-A show coming later this week. Also, me, Jordan, Sheena, and our buddy Phil from Across the Pond are going to come on to talk Royal Rumble, the road to WrestleMania, and all things wrestling in the UK.
00:36:47
Speaker
All right. That's a wrap on this week. Enjoy the last football game of the year, and I will talk to you guys next week.
00:37:08
Speaker
We'll be right back.
