Introduction and Greetings

00:00:01
Speaker
Welcome to the Chick Foley Show.
00:00:22
Speaker
What is up, Foley fam? We are back with the latest episode of the Chick Foley Show.

Wrestling Event Previews and Discussion

00:00:27
Speaker
We're gonna be talking NXT Battleground, discuss whatever the hell is going on with Ricochet and WWE, and doing a preview of this weekend's Clash at the Castle. Before we get into all that though, let me introduce the star of the show, Sheena, how you doing?
00:00:40
Speaker
I'm doing good. We are officially in outdoor wrestle watching season. The springs had some nice weather, but I think the winds have died down, the rains have subsided, so we're officially getting to watch more port wrestling, which has been a pleasure, been a delight. It's funny you say that. I do agree in general, but Saturday night, we actually had some pretty significant rain and wind coming down.
00:01:04
Speaker
It wasn't true, but it was toward the end of the show. It was already getting dark outside. It's a nice audience for the main event. Yeah, but it wasn't like what we've had during the springtime here. West Tennessee weather, as we've talked about it before, it's just freaking wild, dude. It's extreme.
00:01:17
Speaker
Yeah, it's extreme. It'll be like sunny, and then all of a sudden you've got a torrential downpour and like 80 mile an hour winds just like coming through, ripping the roofs, all the places and stuff. So, you know, springtime, we're almost out of spring. Seth already thinks it's summer, but we're hanging on to the tail end of spring. So yeah, we're back porch wrestle watching. And like I said, it's awesome. It's the best. Speaking of back porch, tell us what is new

Farm Updates and Anecdotes

00:01:42
Speaker
on the farm. We've had a lot of animal related activity in high teams this week.
00:01:46
Speaker
Yeah, I have been delivering roosters all across the greater Oakland area. I hatched a bunch of eggs back in, what was it, April, March? I don't even remember at this point, but they're getting bigger now and their time here has come to an end.
00:02:01
Speaker
It's really sad cuz I they're all super sweet little roosters, but a good bunch of chickens It was a good bunch of chickens. We hatch 13 and they're all 13 survived all three The baby chicken world typically you're gonna lose, you know, that's I fully expected, you know, maybe you end up with ten
00:02:17
Speaker
Yeah, because they're very fragile and he just never knew anything can happen. But all healthy chickens very it's a you know, good sign for our flock and the health of our flock. But yeah, there's I posted them on some of the local pages here and I've had some people reach out and want them. Some people they're like, I'll take them on. I'm like, Oh, God, they're gonna eat them. So before I resorted to that, I wanted to see if I could deliver them to some people who are going to use them actually for their flock. So
00:02:39
Speaker
been doing that. We only got four left that are going to go to good homes. Anyway. Slide the DMs if you want a rooster right here at a Penny Acre backyard farm. If you want a Penny Acre cock, then just come over and let me know. I'll send one your way. What else? Oh, I got beat up by my little baby goat yesterday. I was out there just playing with little baby goats like we always do in the evenings.
00:03:05
Speaker
She jumped like one of the the bigger goat myrtle jumped on my face, too She looks just like jump on you and jump on your back after all this curb stomp. Yeah, she like curbs not me I'm so I'm shocked. I don't have a black eye today, dude She was just playing but dude she didn't have enough where she jumped on my back tonight and it definitely you gonna feel it Yeah, so she like I was holding the other two baby goats in my arms and she just like I mean I I couldn't even like fender off to you I saw her coming and she just freaking leaped freaking hooves to the face dude. So yeah, that's that happened
00:03:35
Speaker
I don't know, lots of garden activity, drying lots of herbs. So lots of fun stuff going down, milking goats every morning. I think you guys are waking up milking the goats. But yeah, farm life is fun. All right. Remind the listeners where they can find you on social media.

And it's the best group of marks that you're going to find anywhere on the, uh,
00:04:06
Speaker
the interwebs. It's worth it. The price of admission is worth it just for the live threads, for the pay-per-views. It's like everybody is getting together with 40 or 50 of your friends and watching the shows together. Everybody gets going back and forth with the comments, cracking jokes, and the instant analysis and arguments. It's just the best. Yeah, it is. I've heard on multiple occasions our members say, and our members are in a lot of different groups. That's something to be said. They're in a lot of the most popular wrestling groups out there.
00:04:34
Speaker
They consistently say that our group is like the least drama, most fun, good vibes only, family fun. So yeah, join up. All right. You ready to talk some wrestling? Of course.

Venue and Speculation on WWE in Las Vegas

00:04:48
Speaker
All right, so let's start by quickly going back to Sunday night. We had NXT Battleground live from Las Vegas. First off, what did you think of the UFC Apex? It was definitely a different kind of setup. It was more akin to the typical NXT studios there in Florida. You only had about 700 people in there, but it did look cool. What did you think of the venue?
00:05:08
Speaker
The venue was cool. I mean, like I had never really even seen the venue until I knew that battleground was going to be there. I didn't even like when you just looking at that, if I just saw that, I would not know that that was like an arena where you have events. It's basically like the PC for, for UFC. Yeah, it's crazy. So anyway, I mean, I thought, I mean, it looked like NXT to me. I didn't think it was like that different. I didn't think it looked like.
00:05:32
Speaker
If I was walking by and didn't know any better, I would think maybe they just slightly adjusted the layout for the... Yeah.
00:05:39
Speaker
you know, for the regular studio, but I thought it was cool. I mean, my conspiracy theory brain, you know, we had a couple of people in the live chat talking about this. I think maybe this was an experiment and maybe we see them start alternating between Florida and Las Vegas for the monthly TV. You know, maybe they do a month in Florida, month in Vegas. We know TKO runs WWE right now. They're based out of Las Vegas. Seems like that's kind of, it seems like that's kind of slowly but surely we become a WWE's like West Coast foothold. You know, they got a Orlando in the,
00:06:08
Speaker
East Coast, you know, they got Stanford up in the Northeast and then and then we got Vegas So I think you're gonna see more

Kalani Jordan's Unexpected Victory

00:06:15
Speaker
and more shows man. Maybe see some of the big TV specials going on there a residency in Vegas Yeah, that that's what I'm seeing Because you know, I can't imagine they made a ton of money I think this was something just test out see how it looks see how it felt But I thought it was cool. It definitely didn't take away anything from the presentation Starting our first match absolute stunner, man
00:06:33
Speaker
And out of the six ladies that were competing in the ladder match for the women's North American championship, um, Kalani Jordan was probably the one that I thought had 0% chance of winning. I kind of would have divided it evenly between the other, the other six. And somehow she, she does it, man, but just give me your thoughts on, on this matching.
00:06:51
Speaker
I mean, she looked good. It wasn't because she can't wrestle. I mean, I think she's only been wrestling, what, like a year, two years maybe? She's very, very, very new to the business, which I think a lot of these ladies are. Pretty much everybody besides Mia. Yeah, Mia Chin is, she's a vet. But other than that, these are all super green ladies. And I thought, I mean, to take on a ladder match, I thought it was a really freaking...
00:07:13
Speaker
good showing by them. All the ladies took out Lash Legend. Shout out to Lash Legend for taking- That was a cool spot too, seeing the five people team up. Yeah, she was climbing the ladder and they all just swooped her off of there, which I thought was super cool, and then threw her onto the ladder.
00:07:28
Speaker
didn't break. And I mean, it actually looked like it hurt worse. The fact that it didn't break. It looked like the bottom. I think the, like the, I don't know what you call one side of a ladder. Do you know what the proper term for that is? No. One side of the ladder, definitely like it broke. The other one's kind of held top. Yeah. It looked really neat. Let me, let me just give a shout out. Like how many people do we have in our picks league, Seth?
00:07:47
Speaker
We have 43 pickers 43 pickers in our Foley fam picks Lee So for those who don't know this is again in the Facebook group. We started up We basically it's kind of like a mix of like fantasy football and like, you know, but but with predictions we do every single AEW ring of honor NXT and WWE pay-per-view or premium live event we do Everybody picks all the matches along with some bonus stuff, you know, like how many spears is Roman gonna hit stuff like that and
00:08:14
Speaker
And yeah, it's 43 people in it, including our six-year-old son, Brett, who's just a die-hard wrestling fan already. And tell him Brett's a big achievement he had. Dude, so 43 fans, very smart wrestling crowd, right? Zero people out of 42 picked.
00:08:31
Speaker
Kalani Jordan. You know who did? My six-year-old son, Brett, picked Kalani Jordan. He was the only one in our fully fam takes league. He was the one in one in 42. Yes. He was so excited whenever he went. Of course, that kicked off the show, so he just thought he had a perfect card all night. That was definitely the most impressive pick. I mean, it just goes to show what a long shot she was, man. Something about that name popped out to him.
00:08:58
Speaker
He likes his NXT, man, so he knew what was up, dude. There she is, first ever North American champ. Yeah, Sol Ruka looked good. I thought, I mean, she just- Everybody showed up, man. I thought, you know, I really thought anybody could win because, you know, Sol Ruka, Lash, Fallon, and Jada Parker, they're all super, super bright prospects, especially those first thing I mentioned, you know, Sol, Lash, and Fallon, I think all three of those, they
00:09:20
Speaker
they could be on the main roster by this time next year. Jada Parker is really, really good too. I think she's got a little bit more work to do than the rest of them. And then so, you know, you could have seen either one of those that as far as the pixie goes, it was pretty much evenly distributed between those. And then you had some pics from me a yam too, because I thought that
00:09:37
Speaker
She would have been a good choice if you wanted to just immediately give credibility to this belt, right? Because she's been all over the world, multiple promotions. She's a really, really accomplished wrestler. And I thought that'd be a good way to have her be the first women's North America champion. But no, it goes to Kalani Jordan. Pretty wild, man. I mean, she's going to go down in history. Think about it. Any time you see Finn Balor, dude, it always gets mentioned, first ever universal champion. She's going to be the first ever
00:10:03
Speaker
women's North American. And I love that we got a women's midcard belt. It's so needed with that NXT women's division. For sure. I feel like that's something the main roster is missing big time, man. I feel like we'd be so much better off getting rid of those women's tag belts and replacing it with 100% women's midcard belt. There's not enough women. I mean, I don't want to say there's not enough women, but it's just not going to work having the women's tag. We haven't had a real women's tag
00:10:30
Speaker
team, like a meaningful tag team and so long, dude. I just feel like it's four. And there's so few and far between. I mean, what, like the Iconics, they were cool. Who are some other iconic women? We had Sasha and Bailey, but they're not, but they're individual stars in their own, just put together. I would still call them a legit tag team, but you're right. They're more well known for being two individual stars.
00:10:54
Speaker
Yeah, and that belt's been cursed. So many people got that and got injured or people getting disputes with the company. I'd much rather have a women's mid-car title for sure. I like the women's tag team action. I just feel like there's just not room for a belt. I feel like maybe you could make it similar to the Dusty Rhodes classic. Give us a big across all the brands, Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. Maybe give us a women's tag team tournament once a year, once every other year or something to scratch that itch.
00:11:21
Speaker
Yeah, I'm definitely in favor of just scrapping those belts altogether and give us some women's

WWE and NXT Match Analysis

00:11:25
Speaker
mid-card belt. It just makes so much more sense. Mm-hmm.
00:11:28
Speaker
All right. One other couple of other matches I want to talk about before we get to the main event. Obafemi successfully defended his North American championship in that triple threat match. Just want to give some more flowers to Obafemi. This dude is a freaking beast, man. Closest thing we've seen to Brock Lesnar, man. Like just the strength. And not only that, because we've seen a lot of really strong guys in wrestling, but he's also got the athleticism and just the aura. You know, the moment he's walking out to the ring, the dude just screams like, you know, he's a star, man.
00:11:57
Speaker
I don't know how. I remember Brett when he saw him at... Vengeance day. Vengeance day, yeah. He was just like, oh my God, dude, who is this? Yeah, guy's absolutely gigantic, man. Strong, fast. I don't know how long he's going to be at NXT either. He feels like he's main roster ready. I mean, the way he tossed Wesley was just bananas, dude. I mean, that's a grown ass man, a huge grown ass man. And yeah.
00:12:20
Speaker
Yeah, we saw some spots that we've never seen before, so I just want to give him a shout out, man. I thought he really stood out tonight. What did you think of Roxanne Perez fairly clean-ish getting the win over Jordan Grace? I was a little bit surprised by this. No shade to Roxie, but dude, I just thought with them bringing Jordan Grace in, I mean, and dude,
00:12:39
Speaker
let's just break kayfabe for a moment. There's no way that you know, Little Roxy would ever could ever beat Jordan Grace to Jordan Grace. She's just yeah, she's a straight up freakin brick shit house. I was surprised that it was as clean of a win as it was. But you know, shout out to freakin Jordan Grace for
00:12:56
Speaker
breaking the freaking, the forbidden door down and coming over. And that was a big deal. I think we just kind of gloss over it, but that's a freaking big deal that she was there and carrying the freaking TNA title. She's got a open challenge out too for TNA's next big show. So, interested to see if we see, I think it's against all odds, I believe is the name of that show. Really interested to see if we see someone from NXT or maybe even the main roster show up, because it looks like this TNA, WWE relationship.
00:13:24
Speaker
is going to continue. But I thought it was a huge win for Roxanne. Like I said, it wasn't 100% clean, but it was clean enough. I expected her to win just because I didn't think they were going to be quite ready to send the NXT Women's Championship over to TNA Television.
00:13:39
Speaker
But you know just a little bit of minor distraction action then she gets the win So, you know that just gonna show you how much faith that they have in her And i'm looking forward to seeing where the rest of her 2024 takes her man Going to the main event. Uh, I don't know. What did you think of trick in and all ego ethan page? I thought it was a good match i've said before all ego ethan page really does nothing for me. I just I he's not he's not my cup of tea. Um, I you know nothing against him, but dude, I just
00:14:09
Speaker
I'm not surprised, Tricky. It felt more to me like the main event on NXT Weekly TV. Kind of had the finish come out of nowhere, Ethan Page arguing with the ref and then Trick hits the trick shot out of nowhere to get the win. Can we talk about a trick shot though? That knee is so high. Trick's amazing dude. He's insane. Yeah, he's incredible dude.
00:14:31
Speaker
I will be shocked if he doesn't made event a wrestle, you know, a WrestleMania sometime in the next five, six years, like just the, the athletic ability plus the charisma, man. Like I, I cannot be any higher on trick. Um, they didn't really follow up on it either. The next, uh, you know, last night on NXT TV, it looks like we're just going to get a battle royale to crown the next number one contender for trick William. So it looks like Ethan Page was kind of just like a hot shot challenger of the week. I mean, I might change my tune on, on, uh,
00:15:01
Speaker
Ethan page by singing and seeing him in NXT but yeah I just like you said I feel like it was just like kind of like the little bingo wheel and they were just like alright let's see who we can pull out of here and it was it was Ethan page it was cool for an event man like I said you can definitely do worse than and he's a big enough name that I thought there was a chance hey maybe they actually do hot shot and put this belt on to create some buzz but
00:15:21
Speaker
NXT's got enough buzz already. I don't think they need any help. I just, I'm kind of with you though. I think Ethan Page is, you know, he's a nice, a nice addition to the mid card. I don't really see him as a permanent main event challenger. I real quick, I have to say like, I never felt so old. I don't know who, do you know, did you know who Sexy Red was before this
00:15:41
Speaker
I've kind of seen the name like pop up on social media, but I could not for like a million dollars tell you like one song she has or really anything about her. I do think that was the absolute worst hosting job of all time for as much as they build that up.
00:15:55
Speaker
Five seconds of a steamless intro to the show and that was it like I feel like I know I feel like such an old fogey like being like I hated that But it was just it was just garbage dude. It was just absolute cringe factor 5000 nxt is going for the younger I know I can tell crushing it dude. So if you saw
00:16:13
Speaker
their numbers, man. So compared to this, their numbers for the episode last week came, or for last night came out this afternoon, compared to the same episode last year, they're up overall 130,000 additional viewers. Think about that. We know how many people are cutting the cord, right? I want to say it's something like
00:16:30
Speaker
10% less people are on cable this year than were last year. So the overall population is going down. They still somehow had 130,000 additional viewers. And in the key demo, the 19 to 35, young people that are going out and spending their money, they doubled their demo range. So twice as many people in 19 to 35 are watching NXT.
00:16:51
Speaker
last year to this year. Yes. NXT is, I mean, NXT is some of the best wrestling that's on TV right now. I will say that, but do you think that that could also just be a side effect of like just the overall increase in like popularity of wrestling, dude? I mean, like, and think about the past year of wrestling, like with the rock and- AEW is tanking year over year.
00:17:10
Speaker
But I'm talking about WWE. Yeah. WWE specifically, dude. Like, I think like there's just been so much momentum in WWE over the past year and so much change and so much happening. And like, I just feel like maybe there's definitely some spillover. And since Vince has been fully removed from the picture, I feel like they've done a much better job of making sure NXT matters, right? Like the call ups.
00:17:34
Speaker
Like you remember for the longest time when you got called up, NXT just didn't matter. You're basically like starting from scratch, but now there's bleed over. You know, we've seen Cody showed up. Cody was there last night. Becky Lynch going down to have that run last year. I think it was a huge deal because those main roster stars, you know, they bring the eyeballs to NXT.
00:17:52
Speaker
Yeah, Dom went down had our little little mini run with the North American Championship So NXT matters in the overall universe, you know, I felt like before they wouldn't even mention NXT remember they wouldn't even say like that They were the previous NXT champion or anything like they would not mention any of their previous NXT accolades There was times when like yeah, there was there was a stretch there were Kevin Owens, you know The first time he came out he had the NXT championship But there was a stretch there where he was on fully on the main roster was still the NXT champ It wouldn't bring the belt with him. Yeah, and it's just like what?
00:18:21
Speaker
doing and there was the worst example was that time when I want to say Johnny Gargano was North American champion and Tommaso Ciampa was the NXT champion and they were feuding with each other but then they teamed together on an episode of Monday Night Raw. God, those were the dark days. You're like stirring up some PTSD. This is like early 2019. 2019 was rough, guys. Yeah, 2019 was just... AEW couldn't have started in a better year.
00:18:47
Speaker
for sure. All right. So what was your overall thoughts on battleground? I was, I was sports entertained, dude. I thought it was a great night of wrestling. Um, besides sexy red, I thought everything else was, was good. Yeah. Shawn Michaels is just, he's really got it dialed in for exactly what they're going for and what they need to be going for. Like I got the Wikipedia results page in front of me, six matches. There wasn't a single match that went past that was longer than 14 minutes. So it was moving, right? You know, that kind of ties into going after the younger kind of ADHD generation, but Oh,
00:19:17
Speaker
I mean, I'm with I wouldn't I wouldn't mind seeing you know tricking and all you go going 21 22 minutes But I take something like this much more over those shows where you just have like, you know, yeah or straight You know, yeah, I mean that stuff's good, but it starts to run together with you have like four straight Yeah, I'm looking at you Tony Khan and dude you can have that many shows on there, but just pace it You know what? I mean like dude you gotta
00:19:42
Speaker
I think it sounds weird complaining about it, right? Because it's ass backwards. Every match doesn't need to be an A plus, dude. Sometimes you need a B plus. Every match needs to be entertaining in its own way. Every match doesn't need to be entertaining by people just going out and doing the craziest ass moves on each other. Just give us a little mix and match. I thought they did a great job with that.
00:20:04
Speaker
at Double or Nothing, man. I thought Double or Nothing was freaking perfect, but there's been AW shows and WWE shows in the past also. There was a stretch on WrestleMania for a while there that just absolutely ground you into dirt, dude, from just these long ass matches over and over and over. So I do appreciate the zippier shows like this.
00:20:21
Speaker
Yeah. Like I was going to say, Tonya Khan's defense though, people are paying 50 bucks for the show. You got to just make it undeniable that you're getting your money's right. Exactly. Whatever match that person's there to see, you got to make it worth it for them. Yeah, exactly. From a pacing type standpoint, it's unfair to criticize them on that because they do deliver time and time again. Before we get to Clash of the Castle, let's talk about Monday night
00:20:46
Speaker
So middle of last week, or towards the end of last week, it starts to break that Ricochet is letting WWE know that he's going to test the waters, a free agency, going to let his contract run out and not sign a new contract.

Ricochet's WWE Future: What's Next?

00:20:58
Speaker
Supposedly, it's July when it runs out. Very public, right? This wasn't done any type of hush-hush way. They made it well known that whoever wanted to get out there, whether it was Ricochet, Tony Khan, WWE, whoever it was, they made sure that info got out there loud and proud.
00:21:14
Speaker
to the point where on Monday there were reports from the dirt sheets that this is it, Monday night we're riding Ricochet off TV and he's not going to be booked on any more dates. And then he has this huge ankle mess. What'd you think of that beat down and him going off in the ambulance Monday night? The beat down was brutal, dude. But see, to me, that sort of beat down and right off of TV really gets my conspiracy
00:21:37
Speaker
mind tingling because I'm like, okay, this is, this is a work now. Like, you know what I mean? Like my, my immediate thought is like, okay, we're getting work. Like there's no way Ricochet is leaving WWE like this. Right. Um, so dramatic. It was so dramatic. I mean, they, they literally had Samantha urban ride in the, the ambulance with him. And I mean, the beat down low key and one of the seven or eight biggest stars in the company right now. Like she's such an important part of everything going on. Yeah.
00:22:02
Speaker
Yeah, 100%. So I don't know, man, I could see him. I mean, it would be stupid for him not to test the waters, especially if he's like, just trying to like cash out, make make as much money as possible, like just sell to the highest bidder, right? And get the work schedule that you want. And I think it would be silly of him not to. But
00:22:22
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know after after seeing that I was like that wasn't the standard exit stage left we've seen in the past Yeah, but I mean it's a new era too. I mean I feel like I feel like Triple H Has a lot more reverence for his his talent and stuff like that mean he worked with ricochet down in NXT You know what I mean? Like it's not like he's not a jabron. So I feel like that
00:22:41
Speaker
And Ricochet's had a good run, man. People say he was misused by WWE. I disagree, dude. He wasn't made of any WrestleMania, but he's been a constant president on TV. He was a United States champion. He was an intercontinental champion, first ever speed champion. I feel like he's had a really solid run. Yeah, he got a huge match with Logan Paul at freaking WrestleMania. SummerSlam. Sorry, SummerSlam at WrestleMania. What did I say? SummerSlam. Jesus Christ. Margarita, dude. Yeah, we'll get to the beverage break, but she is hitting it hard tonight.
00:23:10
Speaker
Just to be clear, Ricochet did not have a match against Logan Paul at SummerSlam at WrestleMania. Was that SummerSlam? That's SummerMania. Yeah, but like I said, the big thing that I go back to, something Jericho said a long time ago, I think this was even before,
00:23:28
Speaker
AEW would even started I think he was actually defending WWE when they were talking I think Cesaro was a person that came up They're talking about people being misused and Jericho pointed out just how valuable That TV time is right you basically have 12 segments a week on Raw and eight segments a week on SmackDown And if you're somebody that's getting featured week after week after week Then the company values you now because everybody can't be the world champ You know everybody can't be fighting in the main event but if you're constantly on TV Then you're someone that they value and I feel like
00:23:54
Speaker
Ricochet was constantly on TV. Could definitely could have been a little bit better, but I feel like it could have been a lot worse, you know, out of all the, and all the multiverses of Ricochet's WWE runs. I feel like he had a pretty solid deal, but I'm kind of with you, man. To me, this reminds me a lot of when Johnny Gargano left NXT.
00:24:11
Speaker
Remember, everybody knew his contract was running out. He had the big pay-per-view match. And then the next night he comes out, they close the show on NXT with him giving this super emotional, tearful, you know, farewell speech. And then Grayson Waller comes out and just attacks him and beats the hell out of him. And then he's gone. You know, he's gone. He ended up being gone for about seven, eight months from the company. He legit was a free agent for our time, but then he came back. So I think they did this.
00:24:35
Speaker
It doesn't sound like they're on bad terms with Ricochet. I think this was a way to leave the door open. You still got time. July's still, you got a month to try to work something out and maybe he gets out there and tests the waters and wants to come back. I mean, think him and Smith are still just boyfriend and girlfriend now, but it seems pretty... They're fianceed. They are engaged. They're on fianceed. Yeah, so obviously, so that's pretty serious. I mean, that's a draw, right? Stay there with your fiance. I don't know. What do you think Ricochet should do?
00:25:05
Speaker
I mean, I think he should stay in WWE. I mean, if, I mean, I think working with, uh, you know, stay in where Samantha's at. And I mean, I, I can't imagine that WWE is going to like, you know, low ball him and cut him some like, you know, low ball contract. But I mean, there are a lot of people that, uh, he has history with an AEW, which could be really cool, but I don't know. I'm just, I feel like, I feel like it would be smart stay in WWE.
00:25:29
Speaker
I know AEW is cutting big checks right now, man, big, big checks. Which would also be stupid. In this economy, take the money. If it's just an undeniable increase in pay, take it and everything else you could work out. As far as taking that aside, as far as the wrestling goes,
00:25:46
Speaker
I feel like it's going to be kind of a wash. If he does go to AW, it's going to be the standard thing where he's going to be a really big deal the first month or so. I do think there's a huge money match seeing him and Will Osprey rekindle their feud from about seven, eight years ago. I think that's a pay-per-view main event match in AW and could be a really, really big deal.
00:26:07
Speaker
I actually don't see Ricochet winning that match though. And I see him kind of settling back into where he is in WWE shortly after that, man. Kind of being a really, really entertaining upper mid Carter who kind of weaves in and out of those secondary title pictures, man. And I think that's kind of where he runs out. And there's nothing wrong with that, man. We love Ricochet, dude. He's from
00:26:26
Speaker
Paducah Kentucky right up the road from us in Bowling Green Kentucky. I think he has at this point It's safe to say, you know with all due respect to hillbilly Jim that ricochets the greatest pro wrestler ever from Kentucky So I wish him all the best
00:26:39
Speaker
I don't know. I guess as a fan, I kind of think maybe let's go to AEW for two, three years and then come back home to WWE after that, man. He's still young enough and still in his prime that there'll still be a spot for him if he wants to come back. I really hope this sounds really negative, dude. I'm actually more concerned if this leads to Samantha Urban leaving the company, man. I don't think it will, dude. There's no way, dude. They're not going to let go of Samantha Urban. What if she lets go of them?
00:27:06
Speaker
I mean, maybe they make it undeniable for her to freaking stay. I hope so, man, because I would, I would be bummed. She's become, I mean, to me to take a nostalgia out of it, she's passed up Fink as best ring announcer ever for me, man.
00:27:19
Speaker
She's the goat, dude. I've been singing Samantha's praises on here. You have been, even before I have. You've been on it. The Finks got the nostalgia factor and Finks got that awesome clean voice, but Samantha just brings the passion, man. Yeah. It's two totally different vibes, dude. I think you can appreciate both. They're both goats in their own category.
00:27:41
Speaker
Yeah, Samantha, dude, she's for me. At least on the intros, dude. I feel like maybe if we had to split the difference, dude. Yeah, he's 35. I don't know why. I thought Ricochet was a little older than that. So yeah, he's only 35. Which that's prime. I mean, still long in the- Yeah, he's still got 10 years left on your prime as a wrestler nowadays. Yeah, I mean, AJ Styles is like almost 50, dude. Yeah, still doing damn near. Basically all the same stuff he was doing in his prime. Yeah. Going back to Samantha and Fink though, I think Fink had the better like winner announcement. She's still hitting the end. No.
00:28:04
Speaker
But Samantha's got the better intros, dude. Go back and watch Survivor Series 2020-2022 when the bloodline was at full strength and she's announcing those guys like just goosebumps, man. It was so lit. So we'll see what happens. So let's go and put our stake in the ground. Where do you think Ricochet ends up? Where is Ricochet wrestling in October of this year? The Indies, Japan, AEW, WWE, TNA, none of the above, all the above.
00:28:34
Speaker
I think WWE dude, I think he's gonna stick with WWE. I think AEW, I think he cashes that check man. I think it's gonna be too much money to pass up.
00:28:44
Speaker
And I think even if it is just for one night, I think him main event in that pay-per-view with Will Ospreay, I think that would be a higher point than he's ever going to get with WWE. Even if it is, like I said, just for one night in fades, most 99.9% of wrestlers never ever made event a pay-per-view. So I think knowing that that's out there and you could do something really special I think would be
00:29:04
Speaker
would just be too much to pass up. Because I do think he's kind of, he could go a little bit higher, but I don't see him going much higher than he's going to WWE. Yeah, I don't think, yeah. I mean, the top of WWE is very crowded right now. I feel like, you know, there's, we've got our stars lined up for the next several years and Ricochet, unfortunately, isn't the upper midcard. Yeah, he's not in line for the throne. So yeah, I mean, I don't blame him, dude. I mean, make that money, get that

Clash at the Castle Predictions

00:29:31
Speaker
bag.
00:29:31
Speaker
Alright so good segue Sheena talking about Ricochet being in line for the throne we're going to the clash of the castle in Glasgow Scotland gonna be an awesome show back in 2022 this was a straight-up epic event you know I think Sheena is gonna talk about it a little bit later on in the show for a little tease there but let's get into it man a couple matches I really want to discuss first off
00:29:53
Speaker
Cody and AJ Styles not I quit, man. This is interesting because obviously Cody's number one baby facing the company. He definitely can't say I quit. But it feels like AJ can't say I quit either, man. Like AJ is not, even as a heel, AJ is not the I quit type. Like are we just going to see some kind of crazy violence going on in this one or what?
00:30:11
Speaker
I mean, it has to be, but there's no, there's no way, there is no alignment of the planets that can happen that would make Cody Rhodes lose this match and say, I quit. Like it just will not happen, dude. And like I said, AJ's getting a little long in the tooth. Like he, you know, did give it a little retirement speech. I feel like it's, um, I feel like maybe he quits, dude.
00:30:35
Speaker
Yeah. The only way I've ever seen Cody losing a match like this would be something like Edge and that I quit match with Finn Balor where they bring Beth into it and basically turns into a hostage situation. Or if they get the rock and they just play the audio over it says, I quit. I quit. As good as that was, I don't think in 2024, I don't think fans would take a day. That would just be such a groaner. It worked for that few just because you knew it was mankind, dude.
00:31:02
Speaker
Yeah, people would not accept that. If Cody lost a belt like that, there would be blood in the streets, man. Yeah, I think Cody takes this one. But I did. I think we may actually see a little bit of blood, man. I just I think this is going to be a very, very violent match. That's that's what I'm expecting out of this one. Everything else on here, you know, should be fun. Sammy Zane and Chad, that's been a really, really well built story. I love seeing the Alpha Academy with Otis, Akira and Maxine Dupree getting their shine. Like they've really come up when Otis finally turns on Chad Gable. That's going to be a freaking moment.
00:31:32
Speaker
Piper Niven's going to get the hometown pop against Bailey. Do you think there's any chance she actually wins that belt? I mean, there's a chance. It's a small chance, but no, Bailey's leaving the champ.
00:31:43
Speaker
Yeah. You know, the funny thing is we have three, three Scots competing, you know, and I don't think any of them are going to win. That's the sad part. If I had to pick one, I would keep an eye on that tag team match. Yeah. I would fire in Iowa with, you know, Shayna and Zoe Sargent Bianca and Jade, you know, eventually Bianca and Jade are going up. Now I don't know that could be a SummerSlam match, but admit, you know, it feels like a mania match, but maybe if that's going to be a SummerSlam match, maybe we see the cracks start to form right there.
00:32:08
Speaker
I don't know there's just so I feel like there's still so much meat on the bone with them being the you know the tag team. They look awesome together but you know it's their hometown Alba did lose her mom. A couple weeks ago in a car accident so that's something to think about also man you know she's gonna have a ton of people in the stands just I think keep your eye on that one man for a.
00:32:29
Speaker
for a hometown pop. We're going to see the hometown pop. Yeah, because at the end of the day, as cool as Jayden and Bianca holding those bells has been, it's, I mean, like you said, it's kind of meaningless, right? And Jayden and Bianca can lose it without, out of their control, right? Like they can, like Shaina or Zoe could get pinned. Yeah, Zoe could get pinned by Abafire and that's it, you know, while Jayden and Bianca are arguing on the outside, something like that. So I keep, I still, if I'm putting money down, I think Bianca and Jade win, but I keep an eye on that one.
00:32:54
Speaker
Going back to the intercontinental title match, do you think we finally see Chad Gable get the belt? He just re-signed for pretty big money this week. I think so, dude. It feels like it's time, dude. It feels like they just need to. Dude, if they keep dragging it out, it's not going to work, man. I feel like this is the moment. Sami has nothing to prove. Sami's a made man. Yeah. I think Gable has everything to lose if he doesn't win this match, dude.
00:33:18
Speaker
And he's just going to be such a fun dictator champion. We've been high on Otis for years, basically since the start of the Chick public show. We've always loved Otis. I'm already looking forward to Chad versus Otis with that Intercontinental Championship on the line. Oh yeah, man. That's going to be a freaking match. That's going to be a moment, man.
00:33:36
Speaker
Let's get to what I'm assuming is gonna be the main event. This should be a hell of a match, dude. Judgment Day is barred from ringside because of Drew beating Finn on Monday night. Damien Priest winning against Drew McIntyre. You know, Drew came up just short, clashed at the castle last time.
00:33:52
Speaker
Do we actually think Drew is gonna lose? And this is legit his home fans. Last time it wasn't even his home fans. It was like, you know, it was basically the same as if like an American guy who'd been, you know, wrestling in Japan for a few years came back. Just geographically in the area. Happened to be somewhere in the States, dude. But this is his home fans. Do you think they're gonna have him lose again?
00:34:12
Speaker
Yeah, dog. I think this is the ultimate CM Schmuck moment, dude. This is the moment that he is absolutely just going to take everything from Drew and cost him again, which is going to lead to CM Punk and Drew at SummerSlam, I would imagine.
00:34:35
Speaker
I agree. So here's the thing that's really got me questioned. So again, we're taking off the Kfabe hats. We're just doing fantasy booking right now, right? Because in Kfabe, I think Drew would stomp Damien Priest, right? Even with CM Punk. 100%. It's cool as Damien Priest is. He could take on CM Punk and Damien Priest at the same time. Drew is just a killer right now, dude. Drew has been so dialed in, all 2024, on the mic and in the ring. But let me lay this out for you. So we know Gunther is fighting for this belt at SummerSlam, right?
00:35:05
Speaker
Good there and Damien priests. That doesn't really make sense for a summer slam match, right? Doesn't make sense. But go through and drew that doesn't mean that makes a little more sense, but it's still heal versus heal summer slam. That doesn't really make sense, right?
00:35:19
Speaker
What happens between Clash of the Castle and SummerSlim? Money in the bank. Money in the bank. Money in the bank, for all intents and purposes, what that really serves as is a big reset button for WWE. That's something where they can always just wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
00:35:37
Speaker
I think there's a scenario where Drew wins this time, right? You get the huge moment in front of the fans, you know, it kind of sucks for Damien Priest, but hey, he still had a run. He'll forever be a world champ. And, you know, maybe we see some, some judgment day hygiene, something that ends up costing, costing him the belt.
00:35:53
Speaker
I think we see Drew win. I think whoever wins that Money in the Bank briefcase gets the belt back. I think we see CM Punk fuck Drew over again to lead to a cash-in. Drew drops the belt, whoever has the championship goes and fights Goon through, and then you get Drew and CM Punk for the belt to SummerSlam. That's what I'm thinking, man. I think we see another, I think Drew gets the belt back again, has it for longer than five minutes this time, but before SummerSlam, he loses on a cash-in, a CM Punk assisted cash-in to somebody.
00:36:23
Speaker
But yeah, but then how would that, how would that pay off at SummerSlam for him for seeing punk fighting for the belt? It wouldn't just be seeing punk and Drew fighting a blood match and then whoever, whoever this, you know, I don't even know who it would be, you know, Jay Uso, whoever, whoever this notional money in the bank winner goes and fights Gunther.
00:36:38
Speaker
Cause I don't feel like either one of these guys make a ton of sense for Gunther at SummerSlam. I feel like Drew McIntyre has to fight CM Punk at SummerSlam, right? Yeah, I think that's definitely the thing, but I feel like Gunther taking it. I mean, because Priest is not, I mean, Priest isn't a jabron. I feel like- No, Priest is great, man. I'm probably selling Damien Priest short in this whole scenario. Yeah, you are just a little bit, I mean, again, he's still Damien Priest. It's not like he's Roman Reigns, but I do feel like, I mean, it would be, it would just,
00:37:06
Speaker
It would make sense. I mean, Gunther can just be him and become the champion. Easy, simple, logical. It does work. I'm just, I don't know if I'm thinking like what's the biggest crowning moment for Gunther. I feel like him going over somebody who's like a beloved baby face. Cause to me, that's feels just like a Schmishmosh day, right?
00:37:24
Speaker
People kind of like, he's kind of like the baby face of the Judgment Day, but not really. And people kind of like Gunther, but not really. I just feel like... People kind of like Gunther? Dude, I love... I mean, Gunther's a heel, dude. I love Gunther. You love Gunther, but people were going crazy to see Sami Zayn beat him at WrestleMania. Well, yeah. I mean, of course. Yeah, I don't think Gunther... I mean, the Smarks like him, but I don't think... I think it's the wrong reaction if Gunther is getting cheered big time. Yeah, I don't want Gunther to get cheered, but...
00:37:52
Speaker
That's how I'm thinking like, dude, maybe Jay, dude, maybe you go freaking Yeet in the bank, man. Jay's been the guy, he's been on all the posters, all the hype videos for Money in the Bank. Maybe we see Jay get it in cash. Jay Uso feels like a Money in the Bank cash-in champion. You know what I mean? Unless you're Seth Rollins, it never ends up counting the same when you win the title of Money in the Bank. It feels like Jay Uso could totally win the championship on a cash-in. Think about Biggie.
00:38:18
Speaker
I don't know, something to think about. If you had to make me pick, yeah, I still feel like the easiest ending to see here is CM Punk shows up over in Scotland. Maybe he's rocking like a Roddy Piper kilt or something, and screws drew over.
00:38:33
Speaker
I mean But maybe maybe because it's so predictable. Maybe that's maybe that's just the you know And I feel like if there was you know, it had to happen I feel like if they could go back They would have had Roman just be defending one of the belts and have him lose till it drew Because dude that was such a freakin moment man. You're gonna I don't want to step on it too much She's gonna talk about it a little bit later on But I don't know if you pass up that moment twice. Yeah drew
00:38:59
Speaker
lose at, you know, this event is basically made in his image. So I don't know, man, it's very, very intriguing because it feels like it feels too soon for Damien priests to lose. But dude, if you want to go for the nuclear heat, they're going to get it, man. If they have seen a punk screw this guy over. So I don't know, going to be a fun show, man. They're definitely adding a lot of intrigue for a Saturday afternoon show and I'm excited.

Weekend Plans and Personal Stories

00:39:20
Speaker
So I'm pretty hyped up for this one, man.
00:39:21
Speaker
Yeah, we have a busy, busy Saturday. We have a fishing tournament in the morning. Our son is defending his championship reign, his local fishing championship at the fishing tournament. And then Brett's got a birthday party afterwards. And then so we'll probably have to watch on a delay. What time does it come on?
00:39:41
Speaker
Uh, let's see here. Yeah. It's in Scotland. The birthday party is from one to three, um, central time. So I don't know how much of this we're going to miss. I want to say this show is going to be starting at like noon. Let's see here. So maybe we'll, yeah, I don't know, but yeah, me and Brett won't get to watch much. And then Seth, Seth won't watch until we get back. I won't. Are you going to the birthday party? I wasn't playing on it. It'll be 12 30, uh, central time. So yeah, we'll definitely be on delay.
00:40:11
Speaker
Yeah, are you really gonna watch while we're at the freakin I guess I'm going on Yeah, I guess we'll be going on on airplane mode and avoiding all spoilers. You gotta avoid all spoilers there, dude Yeah, I mean, I don't think I'll be sitting at the freakin birthday party watching, you know, I would totally do that So I felt the need to at least put that out. I've totally been it at social events and streaming wrestling I know but you're anti-social and I'm a mom dude. I have to like, you know Keep an eye on my kid
00:40:36
Speaker
All right, so you hyped up for this one? Oh yeah, for sure. All right, let's get into our beverage break.

Beverage of Choice During the Podcast

00:40:53
Speaker
All right, the beverage break is where we tell you guys what we are simping on as we pod. I'll let Sheena go first this week.
00:41:02
Speaker
I'm really sad that Jordan is not here on a pod that I'm actually consuming. He's a dynamite tonight. A hard beverage. You guys probably saw him. Yeah, you probably saw the Fig God tonight. He is front row at dynamite right there by the entrance ramp. Shout out to him. I am drinking a jalapeno spicy margarita. Seth picked this up at the liquor store a while back. It's like a margarita in a bottle.
00:41:25
Speaker
Mi compo, jalapeno margarita. They make a few different like pre-mixed margaritas. So you just pour them over ice. This is nice though. It's like in a glass bottle with a cork. They're not like the Jose Cuervo rated drink that Sheena used that one time for a margarita mix. Oh yeah. For those of you who may be new here, one time I got a pre-mixed margarita mix. I didn't realize it already had alcohol in it. And then I added
00:41:47
Speaker
Tequila to it. Yeah. So I like, yeah, it was... Basically a double margarita. It was a mess. And if you know me, I'm a lightweight. So I was to the moon. That blended's pretty good. Yeah, it's really good. I added a little bit of extra spicy margarita. I have an organic spicy margarita mix in the fridge. I added a little bit extra of that just to kind of cut it a little bit because I was worried. But yeah, it's delish. I love jalapeno margaritas. And I got fresh jalapenos growing currently out in the garden. I cannot wait to
00:42:16
Speaker
you know, infuse some tequila and make my own homegrown. Yeah, I'm hoping ballast point brings back your habanero sculpted at some point. That was really good, but it's been... I got some habaneros growing out there too. Yeah, it's been dormant for a couple of years. I'm drinking a Memphis brew. It's a Tiny Bomb Pilsner by Wiseacre. They're one of the bigger craft breweries here in Memphis, and it's just your basic Pilsner. I mean, if you want a Miller Lite that's slightly more crafty, a little bit more flavorful, definitely go with the Tiny Bomb. It's got a real cool looking can too. All right, let's get into figure talk.

WWE Elite Series 110 Figure Review

00:43:00
Speaker
Alright want to remind you guys figure four is brought to you by our sponsor ringside collectibles use code chick Foley to save 10% on all your purchases there. They have their fourth of July sale going on right now so if you want to get caught up on some of the stuff that's dropped so far in 2024.
00:43:16
Speaker
It's a great time because they got a lot of amazing figures for pretty good prices. So first off, we did get Elite 110 in the mail. Sheen, give us your thoughts on Elite Series 110. We had seven figures in this set. We had that Bruno Semartino that was originally slated for Legends that they ended up moving over to the Elite line.
00:43:35
Speaker
Yeah, everything looks good. Rhea is awesome, dude. She's in that white gear, just looks like- They sized her up too. Yeah, it looks like a million freaking bucks, dude. Yeah, the last couple Rhea elites have just been way too slight, you know, like she's damn near the same size as Chyna, but her figures were tiny. But yeah, they sized this one up. And then if you could take the entrance gear from her first elite and throw it on this, and it looks really, really good.
00:43:59
Speaker
We finally got a gold WWE championship belt, which was super cool. With the Roman. I'm still mad we can't get an updated head sculpt for Roman with the accurate hair. Dude's been the greatest wrestler in the history of wrestling for the last four years.
00:44:18
Speaker
I feel like we're still using these old shield era head sculpts, man. He's got... He doesn't just got straight up long hair, dude. He's got... It's faded on the size with the long... It's a unique look, man. Something that really sets him off. Dude, hook us up, Mattel. I'm assuming they're probably saving her for one more Ultimate Edition drop. But still. We'll buy it, but yeah, it's been too long. But the new belt does look great. I'll say they have... I definitely noticed it on the Roman belt and the Ria belt. They got a new printing technology. It looks like...
00:44:47
Speaker
I mean, I haven't heard them say this anywhere so you know I hope I'm not misquoting something from Mattel, but it looks almost like the true FX paint apps that they use on the face like they're using those to print the paint on the belts now it just it looks much sharper and much neater so let's keep an eye out for that as you you know if you're getting these guys in the mail or as you start seeing them in stores.
00:45:05
Speaker
Yeah, Brett was super stoked to get, um, pretty deadly. He was, uh, you know, he was super hype on those and he's been using them in his, his fig fed this whole past week. So he's so Brett's thing with the figures, dude, obviously he likes playing with like wrestlers. He likes, but his only big thing is
00:45:21
Speaker
he's all about the movement right he calls it the movement he's really talking about the articulation so the figures that are like easier to move is what he's all about you know these guys they got the skinnier like sean michaels style like parts and there's no knee pads or elbow pads so there's like no restrictions on bending these guys around that that's really his thing dude that kind of takes you just makes the action figure straight up primo for him so
00:45:42
Speaker
He's been loving playing with these guys.

New WWE Toy Discussion

00:45:45
Speaker
I think we got a really cool Pete Dunn. He's got a chase in the green, but that Pete Dunn and the like the British inspired gear just looks beautiful. And then finally Austin Theory with not a cartoonish head sculpt. Yeah, that's a good Austin Theory head sculpt. Yeah, it's probably the best we've gotten.
00:45:59
Speaker
Really, really good. I can't say I was dying to get another Austin theory figure right now, but if you look at the head sculpts on his old ones, they were all super cartoonish, so this was needed. Sticking with the WWE talk, we saw actual packaging shops of the next figure in the Reckon line. Ray Mysterio's lucha low rider. Look at this thing, dude. How cool is that?
00:46:20
Speaker
Look, the trunk like shoots the, it's like, you know. Yeah. You know, these things are always gimmick with the weapons, but I feel like this is such an awesome display piece for, uh, for your AI. You know, I don't know. I guess just cause the kids love Ray, but I feel like this would have hit so much harder if it was, you know, Eddie. Yeah. Yeah. Cause I mean, Ray figures always still do. That's a safe bet to put Ray in there.
00:46:41
Speaker
Yeah, I'm almost positive. We'll be picking this thing up once Brett sees it on the shelves. But these are really cool. And if you haven't checked them out, the wrecking line is really, really neat. They do a really good job with these. As far as being toys that kids want to play with. Yeah, the quality. They're really nice quality. You can't beat them. And lastly, want to give some love to the major pod. Series 8 of Big Rubber Guys is up for pre-order now. We got All Ego, Ethan Page. We'll get timing on that, man. I know.
00:47:06
Speaker
main events of pay-per-view and his figures out. Matt Hardy and Legion of Doom, what do you think of the issuing that the LJN figures?
00:47:12
Speaker
I mean, freaking the row warriors look awesome, dude. With removal shoulder pads. Yeah, that's epic, man. I mean. You're not going to make bad figures with those, yeah. Those guys are going to freak in. I'm assuming they're probably going to be in the biggest sellers that they've had in this line so far. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, very cool. So these things are pricey, but I can tell you, I got a few of them. They're definitely top quality out of all the homages we've had to the LJN line.
00:47:36
Speaker
over time, they're definitely the closest, like you really can, you can barely tell the difference between them and original LJN, so definitely support those guys. Sheen, you ready to get into our retro wrestling recommendation?

Preparation for Clash at the Castle

Mm-hmm. All right, retro wrestling recommendations where we give you guys a blast from the past to watch. Sheen, you can go first.
00:48:06
Speaker
So I am going to recommend that you go back and watch Clash of the Castle 2022. I just feel like it's a great setup because like we talked about earlier, Drew, I mean, he was really the first contender that I thought could possibly dethrone Roman. Like, you know, I mean, obviously the opportunity is always there, but this felt legit. Like, damn, dude, they're about to give freaking Drew this moment.
00:48:30
Speaker
Unfortunately, we had the emergence of, uh, solo Sequoah introduced him into the bloodline. He, he messed things up for drew, uh, messied up his day. And, um, you know, I think we're going to see that same thing. What a frequency and punk comes out in a hoodie and, uh, you know, yanks freaking drew out of there. Yeah. Yanks the ref out of the, uh, out of the ring. Um, so yeah, I think go back and watch that match just to get your, get your chops. What are your chompers wet for? Um, you know,
00:48:56
Speaker
this match we're going to see this weekend. Yeah, that was such a fun show, man. Definitely check out Seamus and Guthyr from the show as well. That was a banger, dude. If you got time. But yeah, that Drew and Roman, that was probably a top five Roman match from this run. You know, Drew came out to broken. He had broken dreams play before his intros, just getting everybody crazy worked up. And then it was an awesome match, man. Both guys just showed out. And Drew, yeah, when he hit that last claymore, I legit thought like shit, dude. This is it. This is it.
00:49:25
Speaker
But Solo made the save and Roman would go on to reign for another year and a half afterwards. We had no idea. We had no idea at that moment how much more we had in store for us with the bloodline, man. I had an idea. I thought Roman was going to be holding the belt today. I thought he was breaking Bruno's record.

Classic WrestleMania Match Recommendation

00:49:40
Speaker
true but uh but no but you're right yeah like i don't think anybody at the time was like you weren't like it was only halfway through you know i mean i felt like you were already kind of getting close to the end but yeah you were just a little over halfway through at that point uh so check that out yeah the main event is great that whole show is good though if you get the time uh so i'm sticking with the the scottish inspiration for my retro pick even though this guy's technically not even scottish but going with a roddy piper match wrestlemania eight excuse me
00:50:05
Speaker
Against Bret Hart one of the best intercontinental championship matches ever I freaking love this match WrestleMania 8's another one if you got time watch the whole show because it's a really fun WrestleMania Bret Hart got busted open Great finish, you know, they pull off awesome babyface versus babyface match and it was such a huge deal because dude Roddy Piper He rarely ever lost and like go back you go back on, you know
00:50:28
Speaker
You know Kate, you know cage side and stuff and check out all the The ratings for him and dude just did not freakin lose very many matches if he lost matches up through the 80s and early 90s It was by DQ. He rarely ever took a pin or a damn near ever submitted But he you know, he put bread over clean as a sheet one two three in a ring awesome ending bloody violent match and you see Brett Hart become a two-time intercontinental champion and
00:50:54
Speaker
Yeah. Speaking of castles, we have a house of the dragon. If I want to know all my fans out there, the crossover this weekend on Sunday, house of the dragon is back on HBO. So the retro wrestling recommend or retro recommendation, go back and watch the whole first season if you have. And if you're a game of thrones fan and then we can catch up and you can message me and we can talk about it because I need friends because that doesn't watch any thrones at all. So I need some, I need some dragon loving marks to hit me up in the DM so we can talk about
00:51:24
Speaker
all the things that are happening in King's Landing. All right, do we have Lister Mill? Oh, yeah. All right, our first Mill comes in from Johnny JB. He says, with WWE opening the forbidden door and allowing TNA's champ to wrestle on their program, do you think we'll ever see WWE and AEW work together?
00:51:49
Speaker
I think it's possible, especially if the money's right. If you had to make me pick, like yes or no, will this happen? I think no. I think there's just too much animosity and insecurity there. I just really don't see it happening.
00:52:01
Speaker
Yeah, same. Sambro hits us up. He dropped some messages in the mailbag. So I'm gonna go, it's Bron Breaker, the next dominant force in about a year. And will they finally change his damn name? I wish, dude. Rex Steiner was such a cool name that he was using for the short time. He was on the Indies before he got snapped up by WWE. I feel like if he switched it up to Rex Steiner, the sky's the limit. I don't know if I see a guy named Bron Breaker, made of it in WrestleMania, but dude's an awesome wrestler, man. I don't know.
00:52:30
Speaker
Oh no, it's hard to save me right now, dude, because there's so many people, so many vets kind of clogging up the space ahead of him. I don't know if he's going to be in the main event a year from now. Not in a year. Yeah, a year is- I think no, I think it's going to be a little bit longer. I think it's probably going to be like two or three years at least, because we have so much to shake out in the next couple of years. We got Cody, Roman, Rock, Seth, CM Punk, Drew, all these people that got to iron out all their kinks before we get to people like Brown
00:52:57
Speaker
I can see him having like a, you know, a really significant run with the United States championships or something like that. I could see that. All right. Uh, Sanbro also says what's happening at TNA brass being fired, champ showing up on WWE. Are they selling? It's a chance. I think we could totally see them getting snapped up and being like, not a developmental, but just like another branch of WWE.
00:53:17
Speaker
I think that probably be bad for them in the long run, even though I'd be good in the short term. But yeah, when they got rid of Scott DeMoure earlier this year, you knew something was going on. So I don't know if it's just some financial house cleaning that they're doing or what, but things are afoot at TNA.
00:53:34
Speaker
That's crazy though, because I mean, TNA's been around for so long, it feels like. And they'd been down for about six years, and at the start of this year, they had so much momentum going. They changed their name back from Impact to TNA. So they had some serious buzz going. Now they got this partnership with WWE, and yeah, it feels like it wouldn't shock me one bit if I pulled up wrestling news tomorrow at 11 o'clock and saw WWE has snapped it up. So I think anything's in play right now with them. Sam wants to know what you're doing for Father's Day.
00:54:02
Speaker
Uh, I don't know. I mean, we had kind of plan sketched out a day, like going out to eat and, you know, maybe hitting some breweries or something. But I mean, I'm a low key guy, dude. Like I'd have just as much fun just hanging out at the house all day with China and the kids. You are low key. I don't need, not, you know, I have shots out there by the love celebrating Father's Day and just making a big go to it. For me personally, I don't really, really need a day like that, man. Every day is Father's Day. Every day is Father's Day. Um, Nisa, do you think Supremes are done?
00:54:32
Speaker
As a line, yes. I think we'll still see him as one-off releases like in the Jazzwares vault or maybe Walmart or even Target exclusives. But as a line, yeah, I think it's definitely... I wouldn't even say it's done. It never got started, man. It seemed like we would only ever see one at a time at stores. I got seen Pentagon recently at...
00:54:50
Speaker
on the shelves at Walmart, but I've never seen Ray Phoenix. Never saw Malachi Black at retail. I don't know what was going on with that. They're great figures, man. Supremes are awesome. I'll take Supremes over Ultimate Editions, man. You get a lot more bang for your buck with the Supremes. I think as far as Series 3, Series 4, Series 5, I don't think that's going to be a thing. Who do you guys think the best current roster talker is? Any promotion?
00:55:19
Speaker
Oh. That's the way Roman reigns, dude. All he's got to say is acknowledge me, man. You could be, MJF's got the jokes and little quits. MJF's pretty good, dude, yeah. He'll go on for five or six minutes, you know, saying all his edgy stuff and everything. All Roman's got to do is hold that finger up and say acknowledge me, and it counts just the same.
00:55:37
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, can we can we count the rock? Does the rock count? I feel like the rock is... Rock's great, dude. I feel like... Dude, think about on that build of WrestleMania when we saw... Think about how powerful it was. We saw Rock talk for like eight, nine minutes doing his whole shtick. And then right before he goes, safe smell, we see Roman grab his wrist. And all he said was, I need you to acknowledge me.
00:55:59
Speaker
And that's what everybody remembered. That was such a freaking moment. Well, I mean, but if you're just talking about guys who can like cut a legit promo, like, because yes, I think the, the, the, the it factor and the presence is there with Roman saying, acknowledge me. But like, if you're just like having somebody just like go off on the mic, dude, like who, who are you trying to listen to, dude?
00:56:20
Speaker
I mean, MJF, I guess I'm gonna say MJF. Yeah, MJF are the rock, I would say, as far as like, you know, current. Punk's really good too. Punk, yeah, as much as we hate CM Punk, he's pretty good. Drew's been pretty freaking awesome as of late, so. Drew's been awesome. Yeah. Anyway, last question. What's your Mattel SDCC exclusive pick for this year? Dude, I really have no idea what it's gonna be. I'll just go wishful thinking and wish it to existence that we get Hulk Hogan as Shep Ramsey from Suburban Commander.
00:56:49
Speaker
What a random, um, what a random request suburban commando would be freaking incredible. I mean, I can, I can totally see that. Cause that seems like kind of like the vein that they're, that they're in. Undertaker was the bounty hunter in that movie. So give us Hulk an undertaker from suburban commando and a two pack. We could get, um, Oh my God. What was a macho man? We were the gear bone saw. We get bone saw as macho man. Yeah. Macho man is bone saw would be cool.
00:57:16
Speaker
Yeah, that would be cool. What would you like to see? I don't know. I mean, I've been, I've told you I want a, oh my gosh, the margaritas kicking in. Captain Lou and
00:57:28
Speaker
Cyndi Lauper. Cyndi Lauper. I was like, what is her name? Cyndi Lauper. You know what else could work, man? Captain Lou as Super Mario. I think that could be one also. That could be cool. He was Super Mario on the show. Yeah. It's a lot of good options, dude. Really, anything's in play. I think it's going to be something kind of in the vein of what we're talking about, right? Cyndi Lauper's been mentioned a lot.
00:57:47
Speaker
Some I think some people think it's obscure but I think for like the old-school wrestling fancy There's a ton of people that want that and those are no Cindy Lauper was huge. She wasn't quite Taylor Swift of her time, dude But she was like, you know, she was up there dude. She was a really big deal. She maybe the Katy Perry of her time Huge star and music and movies back in the 80s and it was such a big deal when she came over to WWF so I think that'd be neat to get the problem captain Lou is that
00:58:12
Speaker
They kind of shot themselves in the foot because they did such a freaking good job on that Legends figure that released a couple months back. I feel like that's why we need Cindy, dude. I feel like that's why. I think you would need a wrestling person. Maybe you could do Cindy and just another random 80s Hulk Hogan. I don't know. It needed to be somebody else. I don't think it could be just Cindy Lauper. As cool as that would be. It would need to be somebody else. I feel like if they hadn't done that, just picture perfect.
00:58:35
Speaker
Captain Lou that they could give us a Captain Lou ultimate, but I feel like you know there's not as much meat on the boat Like they don't have to do another Captain Lou figure and we're good It's gonna be fun. I'm really excited to see what they do I feel like and I know they said that it's sold really well And I'm sure that's cool, but I know that they felt a little bit of the sting from the buzz Just not really being there for
00:58:58
Speaker
for that Muhammad Ali figure last year. It just didn't really get, it didn't light everybody on fire like the STCC releases the years prior had. All right, so that's a wrap for this episode of the Chick Foley Show. If we rush, we can make it in under an hour. You know, that's kind of always our goal. So I'll say, make sure you guys are using code Chick Foley at ringside collectibles to save 10%. She gonna hit us with some closing thoughts and we'll get out of here. We still have 10 days of spring, you guys.
00:59:23
