Transcript

Jarrod Dyke: Hey everybody, welcome back. It is the Fancy Rugby Yanks. My name is Jared Dyke.

Grumpy Old Prop: I'm Ben Glauser.

Jarrod Dyke: We're in, it's fantasy corner time. As promised, we're going to jump right into start set for this weekend before Ben and I both fall asleep.

Grumpy Old Prop: the bit Yeah, I'm ready to crash.

Jarrod Dyke: and the that was And so we're going to just go enjoy that. um All right. So we are starting off with Sale and Quinn's. So for Sale, you're probably looking at Bobby Dupes.

Jarrod Dyke: And then, for the most part, whoever's in the back three, especially in draft, you can kind of give that a go. Jibalu, if he starts in...

Grumpy Old Prop: There is that.

Jarrod Dyke: find Off the bench is okay, too. he's shown He's shown days where that's okay, especially against the Quinns, who are, quite frankly, kind of bad defensively. So, we'll be shocked there. um And then, for the Quinns, yeah, it's like...

Jarrod Dyke: um You're not looking at Carr. Hopefully you can avoid that. But then, like, Evans, Kenningham, Chandler coming himself, should that happen? I think Dom's hurt right now, so there's that.

Grumpy Old Prop: there is that

Jarrod Dyke: Yes, Marcus. Midfielders are draft-only, worthy for the most part. And anybody that's not Merley or Green is probably draft-only at best.

Jarrod Dyke: So that's why. And I know Green's hurt right now, so that kind of.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. And he's grow only because he doesn't play enough.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: He's like a weird, rot he's in a weird rotation setup that I don't think, yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: good Yeah, I don't know what's going on with that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Although Cleves did well for me this past week.

Jarrod Dyke: Poor Nick David.

Grumpy Old Prop: I picked him up. So anyway, off.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he has yeah ah it's just a different location that's my and a different style of team they're playing.

Grumpy Old Prop: True.

Jarrod Dyke: That's my only concern.

Grumpy Old Prop: Ah, there you go. um Okay. Okay. off to Ashton Gate. Um...

Jarrod Dyke: yeah

Grumpy Old Prop: I don't think I really need to give you too much advice for this one, because you're going play the Bristol players who've been doing really well. Any of the front rows. Um... Batley at lock.

Grumpy Old Prop: Fitz, um... or Mata. If Mata's back.

Jarrod Dyke: huh

Grumpy Old Prop: Marmion... Oh, by the way, Harry Randall's back. Uh... Fuck. As if they needed another weapon.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Um... and As I said in the other pod, either of the 10s have been playing super well, but I would keep them out of...

Grumpy Old Prop: I'd keep them off your like Super Brew team, but for for a draft, like if you could cancuff...

Jarrod Dyke: Superdural, yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, I guess what isn't s Jordan is not a 10. Isn't he a center?

Jarrod Dyke: He's a center.

Grumpy Old Prop: or Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he's a center.

Grumpy Old Prop: But Worsley's been really good when he's played, so you have that option too. And then... There was that... Just everyone else, especially you know the Rovovo and LRZ are going to have a lot of fun.

Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: On the other side, Moffy is acceptable, as as certainly ah as a as a draft player. Maybe as a guy, I don't know, how much is he in Super Brew?

Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: I haven't looked recently.

Jarrod Dyke: Tell you a second. 3.7 currently.

Grumpy Old Prop: that's not that's I think that's probably really good value. I haven't thought of especially as reserve player. as a reserve So someone who would come in if if your your top guys get hurt, that's a good like value reserve right there. He's going to play fucking every week.

Grumpy Old Prop: Connan in draft is ah is a good shout, shockingly enough.

Jarrod Dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: Hurl, the same in draft. He was doing well in Super Brew, but I think people have also now keyed in on him because they've seen, oh, and wait, this guy can run.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: We've got to make sure we we mark him. and He's also much more valuable when he's playing on the wing because he's the center in both

Jarrod Dyke: Yep.

Jarrod Dyke: Center.

Grumpy Old Prop: both games when he's a center playing center, he's not nearly as valuable as a center playing wing.

Jarrod Dyke: Right.

Jarrod Dyke: Oh, yeah. Sadly. Sadly. Yep.

Jarrod Dyke: All right, ah praises it brings us over to Gloucester and Saracen. So for Gloucester, like I'm avoiding the back row. I'm avoiding most of the pack right now, quite frankly.

Jarrod Dyke: And that's, sorry to say, Ludlow in draft. Okay, that's fine. um Maybe so Blake slash Ennard in draft should you be desperate for the hooker spot.

Jarrod Dyke: um And then, yes, Tomos. I'd rather play Charlie Atkinson, who's listed as ah as a fly half, than Ross Byrne right now because the possibility of Atkinson getting loose is much higher than Ross Byrne having a good game right now.

Grumpy Old Prop: You

Jarrod Dyke: And, of course, this is going to be the game that he fucking has great game. so um And then, yeah, Seb Lake and Will Joseph and Kuel in the midfield. I know neither of the other guys other two guys I named just there played last week.

Jarrod Dyke: And, yeah, wingers –

Grumpy Old Prop: mean Seb Adkinson?

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, Seb Ackenton played.

Grumpy Old Prop: You Seb Adkinson? What's up?

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, Seb Ackenton played.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, but yeah but but Joseph and Kowalyn did not.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh,

Grumpy Old Prop: okay, yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, yeah. um And then, um yeah, the Wings are draft-only right now. I know a lot of them got potential out of the Wazoo, but they're draft-only for me at the moment, sadly.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: I was thinking watching them this past week, that what if they still had Louis Resan, that would be something. Anyway.

Jarrod Dyke: Had to go fuck off and play wank ball. um Saracens. So many a front row option. i like Dan over over anybody right now. And I know his play in terms of his value for the team is low.

Jarrod Dyke: But his points are high. So, you know, you just take it where it get where it comes.

Grumpy Old Prop: Hmm.

Jarrod Dyke: um And, yeah, their loose heads are have been great. I wouldn't go anywhere with the tight heads, though. Yeah. Yeah, you're going to... Tiz has been pretty good, actually.

Grumpy Old Prop: who

Jarrod Dyke: So that's one guy to keep your eyes eyes on right there. And then, ah yeah, you got a plethora of back row options. Willis is obviously the favorite, but Earl's still good when he's in there.

Jarrod Dyke: Gonzo, so and so forth. gar of I don't even know if I would believe that they would let Charlie Bracken do his thing. So avoid the halfbacks altogether.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: um Yeah, Farrell at 10. You got to play him. Yeah. Honestly, Fergus Burke could be a good option in draft should you should he start at 10 because he has shown the ability to get loose at from that spot.

Jarrod Dyke: So that's good.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah Even if Faz is in and and he has the boot, it still could be worth playing Fergus.

Jarrod Dyke: And then, mm-hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: I've, ah yeah, I've seen, I've i've i've experienced that because i have I have him on one of my teams. um Yeah, midfield for the most part, unless it's Cynthia, though. what don't Is he a midfielder in both games?

Grumpy Old Prop: think so. Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: Okay, so that's the good news. So if he's if he comes comes out of the last week with not much more than a ah bang, he's he's good to go. So he's good. And then, yeah, Malin's if he's on the wing.

Jarrod Dyke: Glory. And, you know, there's some other there's some other young wings that could but could be possibles here. ah No boy Daly if he can help it

Grumpy Old Prop: It was really funny um that I think what the expected points had Calori at like 40 this past weekend um because he's just, his his points have been so ridiculous that it's, it's hard to, you know, those expected points aren't like, I expect this guy to get 40 points. It's,

Jarrod Dyke: It says he's going to have a good day, which he did.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah, it's an average of averages. And so it's like, yeah, start this guy. Like he's likely to like, he has this poopers, but obviously this past week he didn't. So, There you go.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, well, not his fault that McCall had his head up his ass and pulled him.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Oh, that was the worst. You is you you only got... Alright, never mind. We're done with that. Bath, Northampton. This is... Let's talk about this because this is just...

Jarrod Dyke: This will be interesting, yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: So, I'd favor the Bath front row. You know, Yobano, DeToy, DeToy, Thomas the Toy.

Jarrod Dyke: Up to you.

Grumpy Old Prop: um

Jarrod Dyke: Thomas the Tank.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, more like. And he, you know, whether or not, as you said earlier, you know, whether or not he's starting as a reserve, he could still come in and and get double digits too. So don't, don't shy away from him.

Jarrod Dyke: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: But are you really going to waste a bath spot? Not waste, but you going to spend a bath spot in the front row? Probably not. At the same time, they're back row guys. Like it's, it's a lottery.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like, are you going to get right?

Jarrod Dyke: They all do well, but it's like, man, which one's going to play?

Grumpy Old Prop: And it was, you know, this past, I was so, I was annoyed that when they, when they finally did the, everybody comes on, um Reid stayed on and Bayless came off because i i was waiting for Bayless to really bust up and he didn't.

Grumpy Old Prop: So I trying to sneaky captain him and it would have worked but if not for you meddling kids.

Jarrod Dyke: Yes.

Grumpy Old Prop: um And, and, and you own Vengrad pulling him and said, because I know in the last 20 minutes, he would have played differently than the first six. don't know. Probably not.

Grumpy Old Prop: Either way, I'd stay away from the bath, bath back row. especially in Superbrew where, you know, in in draft, go for it.

Jarrod Dyke: yeah

Grumpy Old Prop: But Superbrew, it's just tough because, again, they rotate so much even within the game that and you never know.

Jarrod Dyke: And stuff.

Grumpy Old Prop: it's ah it's ah It's a lottery, not even a coin flip.

Jarrod Dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: um But they obviously their back line is is ridiculous. Digglandville still going off. Koko Naciga still going off. The centers are are ridiculous even without um Lawrence. so And then, you know, they have some fly halves too.

Jarrod Dyke: Mm.

Grumpy Old Prop: On the other side, really the only type five I'd look at is Kohl's.

Jarrod Dyke: Andy?

Grumpy Old Prop: um Vendermesh is Vendor up and down and negative and, yeah, problem problematic at times, so I wouldn't risk it.

Jarrod Dyke: Right.

Jarrod Dyke: Vanderbush.

Grumpy Old Prop: The back row, as we saw this past week, any of them, right, especially once Pollock is in there because how much space that opens up for the Kemenes and the Pearsons. Not that they need it, but when they get it, whoo, yummy.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: um nines it looks like now we got um Mitchell and James so and in but

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I'm positive that's their preference to have those two and not Archie McParlin, despite the fact that he did have a couple of good moments.

Grumpy Old Prop: he did but yeah and that's a hell of a handicap of a handcuff right there if you have for a draft team if you've got Alex Mitchell

Jarrod Dyke: But yeah, their preference is definitely to have Tom James in there to spell Mitchell.

Grumpy Old Prop: you know I'm sure Tom James is on the waivers, so you know one of them is going to be playing. you know If Mitchell's getting a break, James will be in, either as a starter or as a reserve, and could go off. oh So looking at it that way, Finn Smith, don't need to say it, should have him, or an equivalent.

Grumpy Old Prop: The centers are a little meh, and either way you want to be looking at your... but I think Todaro is a midfielder in

Jarrod Dyke: He's listed as a midfielder, think, of both game or in at least one game.

Grumpy Old Prop: if At least in um in draft, I think it is.

Jarrod Dyke: Draft. He's back three.

Grumpy Old Prop: He's a back three in Super Brew, yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: and He is back three in Super

Grumpy Old Prop: But Hendy's been ridiculous, too. and And obviously, so is Furbank. So just plenty of options here.

Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, and slights.

Jarrod Dyke: Freeman's healthy now too.

Grumpy Old Prop: I

Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: don't know.

Jarrod Dyke: And I'm spent.

Grumpy Old Prop: and i yeah And I'm done. And I don't have any more to say about this game either.

Jarrod Dyke: the Yep. Not yet.

Grumpy Old Prop: Finished.

Jarrod Dyke: Alright. So, shitbags and Lester.

Jarrod Dyke: I'm looking at Fisalow.

Jarrod Dyke: and And I've been big on Zambunem, but he actually hasn't scored that well. So I think that's the only guy I'm really looking at in the forwards right now.

Grumpy Old Prop: Vermeulen?

Grumpy Old Prop: What about Jacques Vermeulen? No?

Jarrod Dyke: he's playing on sale now, so no.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh fuck, that's right. Who was I thinking Oh fuck.

Jarrod Dyke: a

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, they had somebody. oh fuck. Nevermind.

Jarrod Dyke: mean, roots, but, you know, you already talked about him.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I'll... That's why I was avoiding. I was like, is it a vernaloon?

Jarrod Dyke: I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. Fissel is the only one i have any interest in Vincent fucked up his ankle, I think. So he's going be out for a while.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, yeah. Right.

Jarrod Dyke: um Don't care for Varney. I'm not going to. Of the halfbacks I could choose, that is low on my list. um

Jarrod Dyke: Skinner maybe in draft. He obviously doesn't kick. We know. yeah Right now, i'm I'm only looking at Iketao for draft right now because he I really need him to like prove it for for them. It's getting better.

Jarrod Dyke: Last week was was better. Obviously, he had 16. But, yeah, just to go burn a center spot on him, I need to i need to seize it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: So, there's that. there's that Yeah, Faye Woboso. He got pretty balled up last week.

Grumpy Old Prop: He got nothing last week.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he did. Yeah, but there was other damage done otherwise. So there is that little caveat to the whole thing. But yeah, you're looking at Fayouaboso for the most part, and everyone else is kind of draft-only at best. For the Tigers, yep, you're going to look at Blumeier for sure. that's ah that's ah That's a good option, especially especially in draft.

Jarrod Dyke: I talked about the locker the locks the locks that I really want are Henderson and Chesom.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Jarrod Dyke: They're pretty good in the loose. They're better in the loose than Wells, let's put it that way. Back row, there's some great options there. I don't believe Berg's banged up right now, but if he comes turns out of it, he's use quality.

Jarrod Dyke: We've talked about more or ever already. Rafael is you know always there. I'm okay with Wightly or Vanport Fleet right now. that They both have shown some flashes, so them that. um Whoever's at 10.

Jarrod Dyke: Whoever's at 10. They have three options, so it's kind of a crapshoot. I have a team where I have all three of them because I don't want to get...

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.

Jarrod Dyke: I was like, I will get i will get this right somehow.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.

Jarrod Dyke: I will get this right somehow. um So there's that. ah But yeah. um Centers, yeah. I like when they go with, they don't go with double Thunder like Preze and Kata, but um if they go with with those two and or a little Thunder Lightning, I'm okay with any of them, especially and especially in draft. And then, yeah, you're looking at back three guys.

Jarrod Dyke: You can play them in both if you want. Steward, Rodwin, Hassel Collins. Go for it.

Grumpy Old Prop: right, of the weeks.

Jarrod Dyke: Of the Weeks.

Grumpy Old Prop: So it's easy when you're picking a start of the week to just follow Newcastle and and pick someone from from the team that's playing against them. um It's really easy to do that. So that's what I'm going to do.

Grumpy Old Prop: and But like this is more of a, if you have them on your team, and you should at this point because Lawrence is out, so you can there should be money to spend in your in your midfield.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: although he doesn't play midfield, so it's a bit of a hack. Revovo against Newcastle, i I think, will go off.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah,

Grumpy Old Prop: And I don't think Bristol have any reason to to give him a rest, so...

Jarrod Dyke: yeah thank you.

Grumpy Old Prop: We'll talk about the same guy.

Jarrod Dyke: No, no, no, don't think they do either. Um, so I, I like the way this guy's playing. He's playing at home. Um, he's playing a team that's found a way to surrender points left, right, and center.

Jarrod Dyke: And I, no, we're going uh, I'm actually talking about, um, Bobby Dupes, Rob Dupria.

Grumpy Old Prop: Shut

Grumpy Old Prop: up. Wait, no.

Jarrod Dyke: Um,

Grumpy Old Prop: Don't shut The opposite of that. That's a good call.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, and so i think yeah I think this will be a good week to have him. They clearly are nursing Ford through some sort of injury. So, yeah, and I like the way he's played so far.

Jarrod Dyke: And, yeah, last week was tough for him, but still found a way to put points on the board for himself.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.

Jarrod Dyke: so And this week it's going to be a much better matchup. So Bobby Dupes, start the week.

Grumpy Old Prop: my my sit of the week is someone who has been good and is someone who may be on your team just because of the the the name value alone.

Jarrod Dyke: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: um And because there aren't many from his team that are really like scoring to the point where, like especially for like a Super Brew, he fits right in there.

Jarrod Dyke: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: um But for this week, and I'm um sticking with that same game, and obviously the weird thing is the opposite team, Will Porter for the Quinns.

Grumpy Old Prop: I have a pass there.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Yeah, he just doesn't get as loose as I would like him to once upon a year.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: So, I hope it improves, but at the same time, meh.

Grumpy Old Prop: I do too, but at this point, he's a he's a good backup, I think, because I think he's still pretty cheap.

Jarrod Dyke: I

Grumpy Old Prop: so

Jarrod Dyke: think so, too.

Grumpy Old Prop: I know I have him, but like my so I think my starter is Marmion, so...

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Definitely. no Yeah, I like it.

Grumpy Old Prop: And watch it now that Marmine will sit.

Jarrod Dyke: I like it.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, he I don't think he will. Maybe he will. And so I'll have to play the Porter because I don't want to make it a trade.

Jarrod Dyke: TBD.

Grumpy Old Prop: Fuck.

Jarrod Dyke: you won't be all it You won't be able to do anything about it Yeah. um So. Sorry, just looking one thing here.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, man, it's a tough time to play um this bath team.

Jarrod Dyke: I feel like Tadaro's going to get found out a little bit.

Grumpy Old Prop: That's not a bad shout.

Jarrod Dyke: and i I'm not to say that the other guys won't score, but while the other guys score, he's going to be standing there mostly with his hands hands on his bum, and that'll be it.

Grumpy Old Prop: but

Grumpy Old Prop: Argo stands in the air saying, my team is doing well.

Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, maybe that too. Maybe that too. But yeah, that's where I'm at with that.

Jarrod Dyke: think i think it's still worth, yeah, I think it's going to probably be started heavily, but at the same time, yeah, it's going to be tough.

Jarrod Dyke: All right. So that's that. Yeah, we'll get the sheet out ASAP on the the old Boxing Day there. So keep your eyes peeled for that.

Grumpy Old Prop: he

Jarrod Dyke: And then we'll also be posting up our analytics. That's coming too. But we appreciate you guys listening to us and supporting us. And we hope you have a great holiday. And we'll catch you guys next week for the end of the year fun.

Jarrod Dyke: Have a good one, everyone.

Grumpy Old Prop: Merry Festivus. Later.

Jarrod Dyke: Cheers.
