00:00:14
Speaker
What is up, Goal Line listeners? We are back with another episode of the Goal Line. Dude, it's crazy, man. we're After next week, we're going to be a quarter of the way done with the NFL season. We're going to need to do our quarter our our quarter poll ah season award winners, man. How nuts is that, Jordan? Yeah, dude.
00:00:30
Speaker
It goes real fast. This is why i tell people, man, i just this is my favorite time of year. you got ah It's fall. You got Halloween coming up. I mean, dude, Spooktober starts tomorrow.
00:00:43
Speaker
And they needed to cool down about 12 degrees, man, bro. I was just about to fucking say that it was 89 fucking degrees here today. Like, what the fuck,

Weather Woes and Halloween Preparations

00:00:53
Speaker
man? I need some 60s to make me feel like it's actually fall. Like we're we've been putting Halloween stuff out and I'm sweating my nuts off. I'm like, what is going on here? It's supposed to be fall. Like, i don't even feel like putting this shit out. Like, it's still summer.
00:01:08
Speaker
Yeah, man. The, uh, the eight U Arlington Tigers, we won again, another one point win. We get the win 15 to 14 over Barla. So our last three weeks we've won by uh, a combined 15 points, man. It's, it's pretty nuts, dude. But I said all that to say, dude, we cooked on, we literally freak it cooked on Saturday morning, man. We play our, it's a super nice field. We have which artificial turf, which is nice for a plane surface, but dude, it gets so hot when that sun's out, man, it wasn't a cloud in the sky and like, you know,
00:01:36
Speaker
We had a couple games where it was nice, decent weather, man. But this one, we were we were back burning up. It was like you know we were back practicing the 1st of July out there on a on Saturday morning, man. So I'm definitely ready for some crisp fall weather to get here.
00:01:49
Speaker
Hell yeah. I i love fall, man. Opening up the windows and stuff, dude. It's just, I don't know. Fall to me is just like the greatest season ever. Like everybody always gets pissed because winter's coming. And I was like, I get it. But dude, everybody worries about what's coming in two months. It's like, just enjoy the now. Like I just enjoy fall. It's just, it's great, man.
00:02:08
Speaker
It's nice when you can throw on like a comfy hoodie and be good to go. You know, you got get like bundled up like you're going on an Arctic expedition or nothing like that to get out of the house. And, you know, it's just a little, look but you're also not going out there and sweating or anything, man. Like that, that's when it's the best.
00:02:20
Speaker
Yeah. All right. You're going to get into some football

MLB Playoffs and Nostalgic Predictions

00:02:24
Speaker
talk? Nope. We're going to do something. I'm to spring this on you, and you were not ready for this, which makes even better. All right, dude. Oh, boy. So MLB playoffs started today. um We're going to go We're going to go round by round, and I'm going Seth pick the MLB playoffs. It already started, but I'm not going to tell you what happened in each of these series.
00:02:41
Speaker
My baseball fandom, I was a gigantic baseball fan, dude. like It was neck and neck with the NBA for my favorite sport up until the strike of 94. And I just never really came back after the strike, man. I really didn't, dude. I grew to love football.
00:02:56
Speaker
I got a little bit back in during like the Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire home run years. But you know i really, 1990 through 1994 is my sweet spot. So I'm going to use that as my frame of reference when picking these ah these games. Okay.
00:03:08
Speaker
We'll start in the AL, the wild card first series in the AL. This is best of three also. ah You get the Tigers versus the Cleveland Guardians. um I'm going to keep it real with Albert Bell and the Indians, man, and say Cleveland moves on. Okay.
00:03:23
Speaker
You've got the Yankees and the Red Sox. Wow. Yankees, Red Sox, first round. Wild card game. That's like a couple years ago when we had the Cowboys and Packers in the wild card round, dude.
00:03:35
Speaker
I had no Aaron Judge. I don't know any modern Red Sox. I'll go with the Yankees. Okay. So that would leave you second round. You'd have the Cleveland Guardians playing the Seattle Mariners.
00:03:46
Speaker
Bro, Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodriguez, Jay Buhner. I'm going with the Mariners, man. Okay. Then you would have the Yankees playing the Toronto Blue Jays. Joe Carter. Let's go. Blue Jays all day. Okay. So then for your ALCS, you would have Mariners and ah Blue Jays.
00:04:04
Speaker
Seattle all day, baby. Let's go. with my I'll bust out the Eric Griffey's for this, man. Okay. and l the first round, you've got Reds and Dodgers. Ooh, I'll go Dodgers. i like I've seen the Shohei Otani skin on Fortnite. Very, very cool. So that gets my pick. Okay, then you've got the San Diego Padres versus the Chicago Cubs.
00:04:25
Speaker
The Padres get a shout-out in Morgan Wallensong, 98 Braves. I'll go Padres. Okay. Then you've got the Dodgers versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Dodgers all day. Let's go. I hate Philly. Okay, then you've got the San Diego Padres versus the Milwaukee Brewers.
00:04:40
Speaker
Come on, bro. Brewers all day. Beer is great. Okay, then you've got the Dodgers versus the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS. Brewers, beer day. Let's go. see Then you've got the Brewers and the Seattle Mariners in the World Series, and one of these teams would be winning their first World Series if this happens.
00:04:59
Speaker
I love beer, but I love those 90s Mariners team more, dude. I'll go Seattle Mariners to win it, man. You know what the craziest thing is? So you have no idea about baseball. So the Brewers are the number one seed in the NL. The Mariners are the number two seed in the AL.
00:05:14
Speaker
So it's wild enough that you pick. Totally plausible. that that That could happen. But it's wild enough that you pick that. But the even more wild thing is they did a fan poll, and like this is what the fans want the World Series to be. I mean, so ah me, obviously, i want the Cubs to get to the World Series. I'm a huge Cubs fan. I want to see Cubs Mariners. Like, that's that's just what I want to see. Me and one of my really good friends, he's a huge Mariners fan.
00:05:37
Speaker
I'm obviously a Cubs fan. He loves baseball, so I'd love to see it. But, yeah, it's going to be interesting. I just wanted to do this just because I thought be fun considering you have no idea who's who. And the fact that that's the two teams you picked kind of blew my mind. So, yeah, it's awesome. Let's go, dude. It's like when we bring Sheena on to do the NBA picks, man. Exactly.
00:05:56
Speaker
All right, let's get into some football.
00:06:05
Speaker
All right, let's ah let's start with your boys. The Huskers were on a bye this week, so there's nothing for me to talk about there. they didn't lose, so that's a great week for me. Tennessee survived like one of the most thrilling football games of the week. like just I mean, dude, Mississippi State brought it. like They brought it, man. Dude, that so that was an awesome game. yeah The Vols, you know โ€“ Truth be told, the Vols probably should have handled that one a little bit easier, but I still didn't mind seeing them getting there and have to scrap, get it out the mud, man. It was a hard-fought game.
00:06:37
Speaker
Dude, shout-out to Mississippi State's crowd, man. Like, I know Mississippi State's been down for a while. They've got a nice little football team this year starting off 4-0. Man, that โ€“ I was watching on my couch, and I felt like I was getting mentally exhausted from listening to those damn cowbells and just the rowdiness of the crowd, man. Like, you โ€“ those boys had to have felt that on the field, man.
00:06:58
Speaker
Oh, God, yeah. it' I mean, it sounded loud. Yeah, i mean you could feel the pressure of it from watching on TV, man. Yeah, dude, it was a really good game. Did you see or at least hear the moment when Mississippi State missed that field goal and their announcer said he made it?
00:07:15
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, we had โ€“ this wasn't even the C squad. So, yeah, real โ€“ yeah, if you search on โ€“ if you go on โ€“ Twitter X, go to the, it's the accounts called awful announcing. They do a good job. Just wrapping up all the goofy stuff.
00:07:29
Speaker
Announcers say, I don't know what he was looking at, man. i don't know if he was looking away. i think, I think he lost the ball and was just looking at the ref. Cause one of the refs at first kind of had his hands kind of out and up and then they started waving it off.
00:07:42
Speaker
um But yeah, it was hilarious, man. like i this this show This game was on the SEC network, so yeah this is like the D-team level announcers, but ah dude kicks it. Wasn't even close, man. Misses it wide right, and the announcer's like, oh, he made you know what nice kick. He's feeling it, man. What a leg on that guy. And he's like, oh, wait, he missed it. So yeah, just comedy central, dude. Somebody said they were watching it from the Goodyear blimp.

College Football Upsets and Controversies

00:08:08
Speaker
Yeah. All I can think, dude, is, you know, if you've been at games before, you know, sometimes it can be kind of hard to tell if a kick is good or not from depending on what angle you're at in the stadium. I'm thinking he had to have just been watching the refs or maybe he just guessed, dude. But yeah, that was not not a shining example of ah some good football commentary. Yeah.
00:08:26
Speaker
Either way, good win for Tennessee. Definitely needed a game like that. So ah let's go back to Friday night. Florida State loses in overtime to Virginia. Dude, this was like one of the most shocking regular season games I can remember and in a while.
00:08:41
Speaker
i seriously thought Florida State was just going to go in there and maul these guys. And the fact that they straight out lost, like maybe it was a little bit of look ahead because they got Miami this week. But either way, I don't care. That was an embarrassing loss for Florida State.
00:08:54
Speaker
Yeah, they were looking like a possible national title contender, man, coming into this. Did not play a good game. um You know, old boy really kind of sold. I mean, he was the best wide receiver they got, so it's hard to get onto him too much. But that catch that ended up being ruled not a catch, man. Dude literally like spent 10 yards gathering the ball in, and the quarterback put a freaking dime on him, man. Like it should have been an easy catch for a touchdown.
00:09:17
Speaker
He literally bobs it all the end zone. On the one hand, it was awesome concentration to stick with it. But also, like, dude, you made what should have been just, ah you know, a slightly difficult catch become borderline impossible. It gets ruled incomplete, and that's it.
00:09:29
Speaker
um Dude, i did any โ€“ was there any fallout? Did Virginia get any blowback, any fines or anything on that? The fans rushing it, man. Like, they โ€“ I know it's part of the atmosphere there having the students up on the lawn on that hill on the one end zone. But, dude, that was like โ€“ that seemed like a very dangerous situation, man, with how close the fans were and how quickly they rushed. I was just thinking, like, dude, there have been times where you've seen a flag come in a couple seconds afterwards, man. It was like the the moment that ball touched the ground on that last pass, dude. They were on the freaking field, man. It was so many of them. It it was looked like the damn zombies on 28 Days Later, man. Yeah, dude. Yeah. I can't ever remember a scene like that before. Like, that does seem really dangerous for the players, though, man. Like, somebody could have easily got hurt there.
00:10:13
Speaker
There's a tramp. Yeah, you got a risk of, you know, people getting trampled, dude. And then, dude, you got a bunch of freaking liquored up college kids running on the field. They're all in the the space of these Florida State players who just played their heart out, dude. You saw that one jackass come up and freaking give Castellanos the double bird right in his face. Like, dude. Not good. Who could have blamed Castellanos if he freaking cold cocked that guy right then and there, man? Yeah, not a good look at all for college football. hate being the fun police, man. I like the crowd storm in the field, but debt just that just something about that one. It didn't pass the eyeball test. It just it felt like bad sportsmanship, man. There's a way to do it. like i
00:10:48
Speaker
You can't take storm in the field out of college football. Yeah, agreed. there's a better way to do it. That should not have happened that way. That was really, really unprofessional by Virginia even let that

Alabama's Comeback and Vanderbilt's Challenge

00:10:59
Speaker
happen. Yeah. Yeah, I think the fans were just too close on the field right at the start of dude. You got a little bit of delay for at least the initial traffic on the field to clear out, man. And, you know, if they're coming out of the stands and stuff, like the flow is a little bit slower. But this was like just, you know, you turn on the faucet full blast, dude. Like, send it, man. Like, it's a cool visual. But, man, yeah, they're very lucky that that scene did not turn ugly. Yeah, I'm shocked it didn't.
00:11:26
Speaker
Okay, let's move to the next one. Alabama breaks Georgia's home winning streak. let Let me give you a couple of things here. First of all, me and you are about ready to write Alabama off after week one versus Florida State.
00:11:37
Speaker
Foolish of us because yeah they have bounced back in a big way the last couple weeks. let Let me give you another stat. So Alabama, I want to give you some streaks that they've broke for Georgia in the past couple of years.
00:11:50
Speaker
Georgia had won 29 consecutive games from 2021 to 23. Alabama ended it 42 consecutive regular season games from 2020 to 2024.
00:12:02
Speaker
Bama ended it and 33 consecutive home games from 2019 to 2025. And Bama ended that on Saturday. Like dude, Georgia had every bit of momentum coming into that game, just the way they have played Bama and Bama.
00:12:20
Speaker
Man, yeah, us writing off Bama was foolish. That quarterback looks unreal now. Like, he looked like dog shit week one, but don't know what they did, but that dude looks unreal now. Is it Ty Simpson? Is that name?
00:12:32
Speaker
he looks good. Yeah, he's good. And meanwhile, Georgia's quarterback that everybody was hyping up, like, dude, I think Georgia with Carson Beck is a national title contender. Without him, I really don't know what โ€“ I mean, their ceiling probably still is a national title, but โ€“ I just don't see it with this team, man. That Gunnar Stockton kid is good, but he is no Carson Beck.
00:12:51
Speaker
Hey, man, I'm proud to say I've been a Carson Beck truther from the jump. Even when he was straight out, I'm a Becker head all the way. i said it when he transferred, dude. I said Georgia is going to regret chasing this guy out of town. I don't know what went wrong ah with that relationship. Dude, to me, i i've kind of pin this on the Georgia offensive coordinator. Him and in the in just the mismanagement of the QB position, man. They're they're loaded.
00:13:13
Speaker
at for on talent across the board um they just need you know gunner stockton is a good he's a good football player man i'm not just gonna like straight up trash him but for the rest of the talent that team has um you just you need somebody better pilot in the ship man i would like to see a little bit higher caliber quarterback in there and see what they can do they're still a really good team but yeah bam has got their number man i think is in georgia i think georgia's like one and seven against them in their last eight matchups man which is nuts when they've that's become such a powerhouse over the last half decade under Kirby Smart. Yeah.
00:13:45
Speaker
ah so Speaking of a not powerhouse, Penn State still cannot win a big game. oreggan We thought Oregon being number six was going to be the ticket, man. it's just i got I got some stats for you.
00:13:56
Speaker
James Franklin at Penn State, now 1-15 versus top five opponents, 4-21 versus top ten opponents, top and and versus michigan and so ohio state combined That's bad. Like, dude, at what point does that get you fired? Like, is has Penn State become the, okay, we'll we'll make the playoffs, but we'll never win the big games. Like, as we said last week, they're always they're always one of the best teams. They're never the best team, man. Dude, they should be. They have so much goddamn talent, man.
00:14:30
Speaker
They're loaded. They got the fan base. They got the infrastructure there. They obviously got the tradition, man. um Yeah, I'm with you, man. Like you can't say Franklin is a bad coach, right? The team has been tremendously successful under him, right? Definitely been as successful as they've been in the post-Joe Paterno era.
00:14:47
Speaker
um But at at what point is that no longer the standard? You know, we've seen this in the NFL. Think about the Bucs 20 years ago when they got rid of Tony Dungy, you know, winning as coach in franchise history for Tampa Bay.
00:14:58
Speaker
But getting to the second round of the playoffs, getting to the conference championship and losing got to be where that's not good enough anymore. And they bring in John Gruden in the next year. They win the championship. um So i don't know. It doesn't feel like they're there right now with Penn State. I'm not super plugged in. I got my neighbor's two houses down there. They're Penn State alumni, dude. They're like diehards, man. So I could probably go and ah I'm sure they're probably plugged in with some of the more local blogs and media sources. They could tell it doesn't seem like from anything we see, like, you know, the national level is like a ah casual observer of Penn State.
00:15:27
Speaker
It doesn't seem like there's much heat on Franklin, man. I think he's still in good standing there. But this team, it's absolutely a thing now to the point where you wonder if the players, you know, They kind of start to feel those invisible hands around their throat at the moment they they start to get into a close game against one of these top ranked teams in the second half. Dude, and you mentioned it, like the fan base and stuff.
00:15:45
Speaker
That is arguably one of the best, if not the best atmospheres to play a night game in is Happy Valley. Like yeah that place is rocking. You can see the cameras shaking and everything. They did a whiteout.
00:15:58
Speaker
Am I the only one that's a little bit weirded out why they do a whiteout and then the other team's wearing white? Like, is that a little bit weird to you at all? Yeah, because you're a home team. You could dictate what the other, what, you know, what jerseys you wear. i don't know why Penn State wouldn't go with the white on white to just kind of match the crowd and just, you know, be in unity. I agree. It was like fucking with me the whole game. I'm like, why the hell would they would not be wearing white? Like, what what the hell is the point of a whiteout if you're not even wearing white?
00:16:25
Speaker
Yeah. I didn't get it, whatever. um Illinois beat USC. You called this one that they would bounce back. I don't think you had it coming down to a last-second field goal, but either way, it was a really good game.
00:16:37
Speaker
Dude, i I get letter of the law, man. I thought that was a straight-up bullshit call. um USC ran just a really cool trick play, man. QB throwback pass, dude. Hit the deep ball downfield for the touchdown.
00:16:51
Speaker
And they โ€“ It gets called back for an illegal lineman downfield, which I get. That's a totally valid rule. But the dude was away from the play, and it wasn't like he was going downfield to gain an advantage. he just It was a super, super slow developing play.
00:17:04
Speaker
And the left tackle away from the play kind of just drifts downfield a couple yards, and the ref fucking throws a ticky-tack flag on and brings back one of the best plays we've seen in college football so far this season. And that that obviously had ah a game-changing impact on a close game like that. I normally try not to get harp on the officials too much because I feel like for the most part,
00:17:22
Speaker
The good calls, bad calls, they kind of end up balancing out over the course of a season. But I thought that was a real game changer where they took something off the board that ah the penalty had nothing to do with the success or failure of the play. Yeah, USC ran the fucking Billy Bob play where he just wanders downfield and acts like he's lost. And the officials just didn't understand what was happening. Yeah.
00:17:43
Speaker
Yeah, that was bullshit, though, dude. If he's not part of the play, like, I get it if it's like a screen and you leave early, like, and you're blocking a cornerback. Dude, there was nobody within five yards of that dude. He had no merit on the play at all at that point. Like, it just, yeah it sucks, man, because, like, this is what you want in football. You want exciting plays, and I get it. You want to do it within the rules, but...
00:18:05
Speaker
Like, what rule did he break there? Like, I mean, I know you're not supposed to be downfield as a lineman, but like, dude, come on, man. To me, to me that something like that's not a penalty unless the dude's getting downfield and blocking somebody and impacting the play, you know?
00:18:19
Speaker
Which he did. Like, use some discretion, ref. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, let's ah jump into college picks.
00:18:30
Speaker
We're going to cut it short, dude. I don't even want to bust down. Yeah, not this week, man. All right, let's get it going. We will start off with... we're go cut it short da i don' mean not even thoughts thoughts and prayers don't even want to bust down yeah not this week man all right let's get it going we will start off where Vanderbilt versus Alabama. 16 Vanderbilt at number 10 Alabama. Vandy beat Bama. Pretty big upset, man. Obviously, anytime Vanderbilt beats Alabama, that's a big deal, regardless what kind of season the two teams are having. It was up in Nashville, though.
00:19:05
Speaker
Diego Pavia is back. This time they're going into Tuscaloosa. Resurgent, Crimson Tide. Can Vanderbilt pull it off again? 5-0 Vandy at number 10 Alabama. I'm not going to lie, this game worries me a little bit for Bama because this could be a letdown game.
00:19:21
Speaker
Having said that, it definitely feels like Bama has kind of figured out what they need to do offensively and defensively. I felt like they were just kind of wandering around lost at this point last year, and it just seemed like they had no identity.
00:19:36
Speaker
i think they found it. I don't know if they cover, but I do think Bama gets it done this week. Yeah, I'm picking Bama just because just don't think Lightning is going to strike twice. But this game is full of like, you know, potential landmines and stuff, man, for Bama, dude. One, Vandy, in their heart, as great as it as awesome as it is, they're 16th in the country in 5-0. They got to know in their heart of hearts, they're not really a contender.
00:19:59
Speaker
to win the national championship so i i think they're probably preparing for this game this is like a super bowl type preparation going into this you know yeah they know how much of a a franchise changer it was beating them last year i'm sure they want to do it again diego pavia he's one of those dudes you know he's a uh you know a major apple white poor man's tim tebow like one of these bad ass college quarterbacks that you know has zero chance of playing at the next level um But he's really good, man. plays kind of funky. It's like ah you know a southpaw boxer coming in, man, could kind of just catch somebody off guard. So I think there's enough juice here, man, that Vandy's going to make it interesting, man. And this is one that Alabama's definitely got to come prepared for.
00:20:37
Speaker
But in the end, I just can't see Vandy beating Bama twice in a row. I agree. All right, and then up next we have number three. This is classic, bro. I feel like it's like 2001 all over again, man. Number three, Miami at number 18, Florida State. This one's going to be fun.
00:20:53
Speaker
um Florida State coming off that big loss against Virginia. They're going have a chip on the shoulder, but Miami's been awesome this year, man. Miami's been really good. Can they go in to Tallahassee and get the win, Jordan? I do not love this spot at all for State, man. It's a tough one.
00:21:08
Speaker
Yeah, like, dude, if they would have won last week, i really would have been like, fuck, and they can i actually beat Miami. Just judging by the way Miami has looked so far this season. And just seeing what we saw last week.
00:21:22
Speaker
I just don't see it, man. I'm gonna go Miami. I think this is an extremely dangerous game for Miami, but I'm going ride with the rest of the Beckerheads, dude, and say Miami wins, man. But i'm I'm very, very low confidence on this one. Bro, just before we move on, I want to give a little bit of a preview for next week. like I don't know if you've looked to the schedule for next week yet, but holy shit.
00:21:44
Speaker
You've got Ohio State at Illinois. You've got Bama at Missouri. banger you've got indiana at oregon banger you've got oklahoma at texas banger and then you've got yeah oh that's it for the ranked games you know the the worst part about what i just said the first two games are at 11 o'clock the second two games are at 2 30 there is not a good night game next week Like, how do you do that? Like, dude, just move.
00:22:12
Speaker
The Oklahoma-Texas game I get cannot be at night. they always That's always been a day game. Dude, move Indiana and Oregon to a night game. Like, what the fuck are we doing here? You know, they're not top 25 matchups. I don't mind this slate of primetime games we got, man. got Michigan at USC, BYU at Arizona, Arizona State at Utah. There's some fun games. But, yeah, you'd think you'd move one of these heavyweight matches to the evening. Indiana and Oregon seems like that'd be prime if you played at night.
00:22:37
Speaker
Dude, I... um'm I'm not a huge Indiana fan and I don't like Zignetti, but everything that dude has said so far about like Google me, I just win, like played at Iowa, won a scrappy game. Dude.
00:22:52
Speaker
He's proved me wrong, dude. I thought Indiana was freaking, I thought they were the pretenders of all pretenders, man. They're a badass football team. They might lose at Oregon, but they're going to come up with a game plan and they're going to play that game hard. So, yeah, I'm really excited for next weekend.
00:23:08
Speaker
All right, let's do ah let's do Fashion Police, then we'll get into the NFL news.
00:23:26
Speaker
All right, we'll kick it off Thursday Night Football. We saw the Cardinals debut their new rivalry jerseys. These are ones, dude, I love the look of these, man. think they look a little bit better, like on the the Instagram pics, than they did on the TV, man. I thought it was it i thought they just looked kind of dirty um with off TV, but I do love these jerseys, though. Bro, it looks like a tortilla shell.
00:23:47
Speaker
I couldn't get over it after somebody pointed it out. I'm like, they literally are wearing tortillas. I mean, it still that kind of goes with the Arizona motif, man. They're known for like the Tex-Mex cuisine, man. I know, but it's supposed to get like Sandstorm. Like it just looks like a tortilla now.
00:24:03
Speaker
yeah like i said just didn't quite translate on tv man but the pictures looked down the field though looked absolutely incredible that was dope i would leave that all year if i was the cardinals yeah that looks so cool man yeah the field looked very very cool yeah leave that all year if you want to you know if you want to tie them maybe throw arizona state patch on like the sleeves or something dude the state flag patch but yeah those uh those uniforms were straight up beautiful man um what was the second game we had for uni watch miami and the jets mia yeah miami miami busted them out last night though those dude they're cool man i feel like the dolphins uniforms are basically perfect how they are dude i can't really say nothing bad about that uniform like by itself and you know but um the dolphins dude their their regular le uniforms are great man like they they don't they don't need to go totally out of the box on the alternates like that I love black uniforms for night games. I just, I think it looks so clean at night. I really did like these way more than I thought I was going to, because I was kind of down on a lot of these. I liked those a lot. I thought they looked really good.
00:25:02
Speaker
Yeah. Don't get me wrong. I love the actual look of the uniform, dude. The black Dolphins helmet, like those colors look great with the black uniforms. I just, I really, really love the regular Dolphins junies, man. dude du are Are these going to be one and done after we saw Tyree Kill's leg get annihilated?
00:25:18
Speaker
Well, they're only they're only wearing them in AFC's game, so i' would imagine this might be a one-and-done thing. i mean, you just yeah who knows? We'll see, I guess. All right, take us around the league, J-Man. All right, man, let's ah let's start with the Falcons.
00:25:31
Speaker
Me and you did not see this one coming. Like, dude... We knew there was a chance Jaden Daniels wasn't going to play, and I still felt like there was a way greater than 50% chance that the Commanders won just based on their defense and Dan Quinn and everything like that, and based on the fact that the Falcons came out the week before and laid an absolute egg in what is arguably one of the bottom three teams in the NFL, being the Panthers.
00:25:56
Speaker
Dude, I loved what they did on ah offense on Sunday. Yeah. For whatever mistakes happened the week before and whatever was going wrong, dude, they got London involved early. They got B. John. Yeah, they got pits going. They got B. John going at the end of the game. They got Algier going like, dude, that's how that offense is supposed to look like. That's what they're supposed to do. I mean, me and you have talked about this for the last year. Like you should not have this much talent on offense and ever look like you did against the Panthers.
00:26:26
Speaker
share that Share that stat on the ah the yardage rankings for the Falcons so much. That one you sent me yesterday. Oh, yeah. ah this This was low-key surprising and could be could be a sign that things are going to be on the upswing for the Falcons. Okay.
00:26:41
Speaker
So, through the this was as of Sunday night. Through the the Sunday after late afternoon games, the Falcons NFL ranks in yardage. Total offense, they were seventh. Total defense, they're third.
00:26:54
Speaker
Yeah, so that's that's going off yards gained, yards allowed, which, you know, I get it. Knee jerk is like, well, you know, that's just yards. you know, you don't win off yards. But the yard, actual yards gained and yards allowed, that can be a better predictor for long-term success. Points can be random, right? and You could have a ball dink off somebody's helmet in the red zone and get picked off or โ€“ you know You drive 90 yards and you get to a fourth and goal and your your left tackle slips at the snap, misses his block, and you don't score. um so you know Jordan sent me that. It was surprising, man, to to see. But if you've watched the game, outside of that Panthers game, the Falcons have looked pretty dang good the other three weeks, man.
00:27:27
Speaker
yeah they I don't think they've hit their peak yet. They haven't played their best game on both sides of the ball. and I thought the defense left the little to be desired on Sunday. But There's enough there that I think there's still some stuff to be optimistic about for the Falcons this year, man. um The Bucs, you know, they're clutch, dude. They're always going to be fun a fun team to watch, but they haven't really been dominating anybody at all, man. um they they They've kind of gotten lucky in some of these one-score games. and If you know Baker, as many times as he saves the day for you, there's going to be times where he breaks your heart. So I think there's still reason to you know not not go ahead and torch all of your 2025 Falcons stock just yet.
00:27:59
Speaker
I mean, look at the schedule they just played through four weeks. And quite honestly, I fully expected them be one and three. I just expected the one win to be the Panthers. Like, I did not expect them to come out and just light the world on fire. They just never do. They don't play their starters in preseason for whatever reason.
00:28:15
Speaker
So, like, I fully expect them to be one and three going into the bye. Dude, being two and two going into your bye week and just having the entire season in front of you โ€“ I feel way different about this team this

NFL Team Performances and Injury Impacts

00:28:27
Speaker
week. Now, granted, they could come out next week after the buy and lay a complete egg. i'm I'm not saying that that can't happen, but what what they did on Sunday gave me a lot more like hope for like moving forward with the offense.
00:28:41
Speaker
The defense, I know what you're saying. like I know they gave up some some big plays and stuff on Sunday. But, dude, the the thing about this defense, and the Falcons have always been known for this. that They're the bend-but-don't-break defense. They just try to keep everyone in front of them.
00:28:55
Speaker
There were some times where they they like did a couple riskier plays to try to get a turnover or something along those lines, and A couple times it worked, couple times it didn't, but, dude, I'm for it. And I know everybody's gonna be like, well, Washington didn't have Jane Daniels and they didn't have Terry McLaurin.
00:29:10
Speaker
You know what, man? It's the NFL, dude. People get injured every week. You've got to play who you've got in front Next man up. And the Falcons offense absolutely shredded a really good commander's defense. So I'm taking it, man. That that was a good win for the Falcons and definitely a needed win.
00:29:27
Speaker
Agreed. Okay, let's go into something not exciting at all, the Tennessee Titans. um I'm shocked their coach didn't get fired. you know Me and Jordan ended up punting. from what We were planning on recording last night, but I told the kids we could do a ah ah movie night, man. So we punted it tonight, and I said the silver lining is I think there's a very good chance Brian Callahan gets fired Tuesday morning when the team gets back to work. Didn't happen, though. He kept his job at least another week.
00:29:50
Speaker
um I mean, I think Cam Ward said it perfectly. If we keep it a buck right now, we ass. The thing that I think is going to ultimately doom Callahan to where he's probably not going to get a chance to finish this season, definitely has come back next season.
00:30:06
Speaker
And, you know, obviously I'm not sitting down and breaking down every single snap on the all 22, but I've watched most of all four of the Titans game so far. And Cam Ward is regressing, man. He looked better in week one than he did in week four.
00:30:17
Speaker
And that ist that that absolutely cannot happen with a rookie quarterback. I think, you know, if the Titans front office is being honest with themselves, any type of on-field success this year was going to be, you know, just a bonus. And this year was all about just developing Cam Ward and getting him ready for prime time. And it's getting worse week after week. Nothing is easy, man. Like, I don't know what...
00:30:37
Speaker
I don't know what the game plan is, what they're trying to do, but nothing comes easy, man. Like you saw, i don't know, did you see that super high degree of difficulty throw he had on that first drive? I'm going all the way Yeah, and he's making it happen, man. You still see the talent there, but they're just not setting this guy up for success at all. And it's only natural, man. You're going to get frustrated, dude. Like no matter how great of character we think ah Cam Ward has, man, like there's only so much you can take before you get frustrated and you just didn't.
00:31:02
Speaker
don't want that losing to set in, that the negativity to just set in. and i have serious concerns, man, about how ugly it's going to get for the Titans this year. They might not win a game, man. They really might not win a freaking game.
00:31:13
Speaker
Bro, they didn't score a point versus a Texans team that through three weeks did not exactly light the world on fire. like It wasn't like the Texans were looking like some world beaters. Dude, I just have a ah real problem.
00:31:27
Speaker
I'm not saying there's a bunch of talent on this team, but... Dude, if you just, like, look at the box score from the game and look at, like, the target distribution and stuff, and I'm all for them getting Elik, A.O. Manor, like, well more involved in the offense. Like, it needs to happen. That's a young receiver.
00:31:45
Speaker
Calvin Ridley sucks, first of all. So, I... um him I'm not in an example, bro. Cut his ass. don't care what the cap hit is. Fucking cut him, bro. You know what? He deserves it. Fuck him. Yeah. He screwed the Falcons that year because he wanted to gamble on football.
00:31:58
Speaker
I hope he's asked for the rest of his life at everything that he does. Like, dude, yeah. Calvin Ridley is on my shit list forever after this. If you watch the body language and stuff, I just don't think he's a good guy to have on the team, man. No, he knows man right dude, he's terrible for Cam Ward. Like, damn word makes a bad throw. He's a fucking rookie. He's going to make bad throws. He's going to make mistakes.
00:32:19
Speaker
He's going to miss open receivers. Like, it's part of being a rookie. Like, dude, even the guys that have the best rookie seasons ever do this shit in the beginning. Like, it's part of being a rookie. Like, you're learning.
00:32:30
Speaker
Problem for him is their offensive line's terrible. Yeah. Pollard is whatever you want him to be. I mean, they're never going to just run the ball down anyone's throat with this. It's hard to find that running back. He's probably, he's probably the one guy that I'm not taking a shit on, dude, as a Titans fan and him and Jeffrey Simmons, man. I just, I, I don't understand what their plan is. If I'm the Titans, anyone with value outside of cam Ward, I am looking to dump like that. They have to just start over fresh. Like they're,
00:32:58
Speaker
Because, I mean, dude, none of these guys that they have on this team outside of the younger guys, obviously you're not trading, but anybody ofs value that's older, you have to get rid of. They're not adding anything to this team at this point. Like, this team's not going to win many games, if any. Like, it's just, this is not a good team.
00:33:15
Speaker
Yeah, it's looking like a long-term rebuild at this point. Well, dude, that's the thing, though. like You want to have a high pick, and you want to get some picks, even if they're second or third-round picks for the guys that you have with value.
00:33:27
Speaker
Because, dude, the picks are the most valuable thing for a team like this. Because... Clearly, the team that they have is not good enough to do anything in the NFL. And if if you're going to just keep running this team back and adding one or two rookies, they're just never going to get there, man. Just rip the Band-Aid off, make the quick make the fix as fast as you can.
00:33:46
Speaker
Because I'm telling you right now, they waste four years of Cam Ward and that dude's out the door and going to a better franchise. like And they cannot risk that. i I generally agree with you on just, you know, there's no point in trying to scrap together a four or five win season, man, trade trade all the good stuff for picks. But that's putting a tremendous amount of faith in the Titans front office to do fuck all with any picks that they would get for the good players that they do. They can't hit anything in free agency either. Like, dude, got to try something.
00:34:15
Speaker
Every pick that they've signed in free agency has been terrible, too. I don't know what there's bro. They spent the second most money in the NFL last off season. And none of those guys are good.
00:34:27
Speaker
There's no hope. I I'm with you, dude. I'm there where you're at. I am there. i am at the bottom, dude. I just, I don't understand, man. Like, I, and There's no direction at all. Well, there is a direction. It's down straight down If there was a roller coaster, you'd be looking at the track like at the bottom is just gone. Like there's no track at the bottom of the hill.
00:34:49
Speaker
It's a coffin on roller skates on fire heading downhill right now. as tighttan through I just don't get it though, man. Like I thought they were making the right moves and I i still think Cam Ward can be really good, but you cannot run this team back. Like the the team that they have now is ass all right, let's go to Thursday night. The Seahawks beat the Cardinals. Dude, that game was actually a fun watch at the end. It was not a fun watch through three quarters.
00:35:15
Speaker
Cardinals finally did something at the end of that game to make it interesting. is it furious finish Is it just me or does Marvin Harrison look like he has no faith in himself at all?
00:35:25
Speaker
He caught that touchdown and it looked like he was like shocked that he caught it Yeah, if only there was somebody he could reach out to to like get some mentorship on what it takes to be ah an all-pro wide receiver in the NFL. Yeah, the guy that's at the game every week.
00:35:41
Speaker
like i just i don't understand I don't understand what that team is doing either. It's weird to watch. You know my take, man. I love Kyler Murray, dude. I feel like in another world, he gets drafted by you know the Niners, and he's the face of the NFL right now. But instead, he's off with Arizona doing Arizona Cardinal things. Yeah.
00:35:59
Speaker
But they look good. The last six minutes were fucking awesome, dude. The last six minutes were awesome. And then, ah you know, shout out to the Seahawks, dude. Seahawks are a damn good football team. They are really good. They got the Bucs this week at home.
00:36:10
Speaker
I am very, very interested in that game, man. Yeah. They are a good team. I don't think they're a threat to come out of the NFC, but they're a solid-ass football team, and you know whether they're going to be a factor all season long. And they're building a team that is going to be good down the road. like the yeah Mike McDonald is a really good head coach, man. they they got really lucky with the coach.
00:36:31
Speaker
Uh, let's talk about the, to me, the most stunning thing of the weekend. Giants stunned the Chargers. Unfortunately, they lose Malik neighbors for the season. Dude, this has just got to be like a microcosm of being a Giants fan. Like got to be so excited. got Jackson Dart. He looks like the truth. He looked like your franchise quarterback.
00:36:49
Speaker
And then you lose your best player on the ah offense. with Not just the best player. I mean, dude, he's, uh, the best wide receiver to come in the league, at least since Jamar Chase, man. Like, dude, there's a game changer. And like, you know, thankfully, NFL medicine, sports medicine has come a long way, dude. Like at ACL is damn, you know, aside from the length of time that it knocks them out, it's damn near like a minor injury at this point. For the most part, we see guys come back with no issues, but you still never know, dude. You never know if they're going to be back all the way to 100% coming off something like that. so
00:37:21
Speaker
total Total bummer, man. Just a huge bummer if you're Giants fan. Definitely, this you know you won the battle, but you lost the war. Sad, man. Really sad. I felt bad for him. um I have to read this because I saw this tweet the other day like because everybody talks about Skadaboo and the way he runs, and he just doesn't care. He doesn't care if he gets concussed.
00:37:40
Speaker
Somebody said Cam Skadaboo runs like someone you can imagine that was eating crayons on the playground when they were 10. Yeah, they I saw somebody, they said every white running they said all white running backs are either super shifty, thoughtful, cerebral, like ah Danny Woodhead or like Christian McCaffrey, or they're straight-up rock with freaking legs like Mike Allstott or Cam Scatterbones. Yeah, there's really not any in-between, man. there's the As far as the white guys at running back, there's really kind of just two freaking archetypes, man, and that's it. He is hilarious to watch play.
00:38:13
Speaker
Yeah. uh jackson dart dude i i was completely wrong about this dude coming out of college like he's got the juice bro he's definitely you know we'll see he's got to keep developing dude i think there's still some room for improvement on the the the region stuff man but it looks you know got the energy right like you could tell he gave that team a spark man uh he's got he's got the leadership ability Dude, I like how he looks when he's running, man. He plants that foot in the ground, takes off, dude. He's a strong runner. I don't i don't necessarily want to see him you know trying to stiff arm linebackers all season long. he's not
00:38:44
Speaker
He's a big dude. He's not built like Josh Allen, though, so I worry about that. But yeah, you know night and day difference for having Russell Wilson in there, man. Team's got some juice now. Yeah, it's fun to watch. Eagles take down the Bucs in just an excellent game. i mean, Jalen Hurts did not complete a single pass in the second half of this game. The Eagles still won.
00:39:06
Speaker
I am not listening to any Eagles slander until till they hit a point where they start losing games. I'm not hearing any Eagles slander, dude. This team...
00:39:17
Speaker
I don't even know how you can say someone is better than this team at this point. Like, dude, they've won 20 straight games or something like that. Dude, I'm friends with some hardcore Eagles fans. They're, like, going off about how bad the team is playing. And I'm just like, what the fuck are you guys talking about? What are you watching? You're 4-0.
00:39:34
Speaker
4-0 against a pretty pretty tough schedule so far. like, like oh, yeah, but look at what the D's doing. Or look at Jalen Hurts. I'm like, dead no, man. You're fucking delusional, bro. You just want something to complain about. I wish I had the same problems that Eagles fans have right now. like Dude, any NFL fan would kill to be in the Eagles position right now.
00:39:52
Speaker
Coming off a Super Bowl, you're 4-0. You have looked like shit a lot of times. But what does it matter, dude? They're they're winning when it matters most. you're you're winning by playing you're playing your B minus game and you're winning team most loaded roster in the NFL. There's no, no, if the Eagles were calling and were offering to swap their 53 with any other teams, 53, there's not a single team that would say no to that trade.
00:40:13
Speaker
um And you can win in multiple ways, man. You, you got, you could win a slug fest. You could do a shootout. You could throw, you could run like, yeah, they're just a complete team. I'm i'm with you, man. I do. I don't understand where some of this negativity that's coming out about the Eagles is coming from, man. Like, yeah, Give me that all day, dude.
00:40:29
Speaker
My team's 0-4, man. You want to see you own something to bitch about? Look at the Titans. i just I'll never understand. like what Because people are like, well, the 2023 team started off this exact same way. They were in it ugly.
00:40:40
Speaker
I'm like, dude, there's no comparison to that team and this team. This team, you're right. They are winning ugly. But look at the teams that they've played so far that they've had to win ugly against. Like, I just...
00:40:51
Speaker
I'm not buying it that the Eagles are not good and that there's some like big problem with this team. No, this team's legit, man. They're going to be there at the end. like they are really They are by far the best team in the NFC right now. like i don't oh yeah i like Who would you even put at two right now behind this team? And it's a distant two.
00:41:09
Speaker
Yeah, Packers and Lions on their best day can play, but but, you know, the Lions could go up and down on you. Packers are potential frauds, right? Packers, they're a little bit of Jekyll and Hyde, man. They look awesome, but then, you know, they'll give up 40 points to the Cowboys. So, yeah, I think it's yeah i think the Lions are probably a distant second to the Eagles right now. Yeah, it's i just this whole thing that they're not good is absolutely wild to me. like i just ah Like, what the fuck are we watching here? They beat really good teams in the first four weeks.
00:41:37
Speaker
Steelers beat the Vikings in Dublin. I love these these London, Dublin. like The crowd is just so into these games, no matter who it is. It's just fun to watch, man. It's just as a football fan, getting up at 8 o'clock and they're already being football on. it It's just beautiful as an NFL fan.
00:41:54
Speaker
Breakfast and football rocks, man. Always has, always will. Yeah, there's nothing to really dig into this game about. I mean, it was just a pretty average game. like it just kind of And these are always one-on. I never put too much stock into these because it it it's such it's so different from every other week with just the amount of travel. Teams are out of their normal routine. so And, yeah, it ended up being a couple plays here, a couple plays there was the difference. So, yeah, I agree, man. you can't I'm not taking too much. I don't feel significantly different about the Steelers or the Vikings coming out of this one. Nope, I agree.
00:42:23
Speaker
Rams beat the Colts. A.D. Mitchell is the biggest idiot in the world and should have been cut. God, bro. How? How? After you see Jonathan Taylor do the same thing last โ€“ I mean, they probably beat the Rams, dude.
00:42:36
Speaker
It's hard to say. you know You never know what the timeline looks like if that play goes down. But for those that don't know, man, just look up Adonai Mitchell, dude. has a I mean, it was a hell of a a touchdown catch, dude. It was something like โ€“ it was 60-plus yards. Yeah.
00:42:49
Speaker
Yeah, touchdown catch and run. And for no reason, he's already five yards past every defender just to just a showboat and look cool. He decides to do like a little finger roll action to hold the ball out with one hand as he crosses the goal line.
00:43:03
Speaker
And he freaking drops it out of the back of the end zone, man. Like, how how do we keep seeing this happen ah couple times every season in the NFL? it's well I expect something like this in high school, man. But in the NFL, dude.
00:43:14
Speaker
Why are you like โ€“ why can you not wait an extra five yards? Like why is everybody so excited to celebrate? It doesn't even look that cool, bro. I've never once had โ€“ like, you know, I've been coaching the kids for couple years now. None of the kids โ€“ the kids, like they like doing the gritty, man. They like doing all the other like TikTok dances and stuff after touchdowns.
00:43:31
Speaker
I've never once had a kid be like, man, that was so cool when that player just went all nonchalant across the goal line and, you know โ€“ Like, I just don't freaking get it, man. Like, the the risk is so much greater than any kind of reward. Like, and yeah, I'm with you, man. So like, yeah I don't follow Colts close enough to know if it's that bad. But to me, man, that's like a cut on the spot, bro. Like, the moment we touch back down in Indy, your ass is cut, dude, just to send a message to everybody else. Because it's hard to win in the NFL. It doesn't matter how good you are, how bad your opponent is.
00:44:00
Speaker
You got to put a tremendous amount of work in to get a victory in the NFL. Yeah. And this they could have had a victory on the road against a damn tough team. And you significantly take away your team's ah opportunity to do that when you make stupid-ass plays like that. The worst part is that he got a holding penalty that called justin or Jonathan Taylor's touchdown back because he basically did a belly-to-belly takedown to the fucking corner he was blocking, which watching that play back, I don't even know what he was thinking. Yeah.
00:44:28
Speaker
I don't know, man. that Not a good look. I will say this, though. The Colts are a hell of a lot better than me and you have probably given them credit for. That team is really good. Only problem is Daniel Jones had two throws in that game where he looked like Giants Daniel Jones.
00:44:43
Speaker
And I'm just wondering if like we're just counting down the days till Daniel Jones turns back into a pumpkin again. I could see that little bit, a little bit of Sam Darnold, 2024 vibes.
00:44:56
Speaker
Dude, I kind of worry about it. Cause those two bad throws that he made were really bad. and
00:45:02
Speaker
he's like ah He's like the freaking Norman Osborn, dude. His son in the first Peter Pan. You know, those bad passers are like the fucking goblin mess talking to him. Talking to him in his helmet. yeah And he's like, what'd you say? And the coach is like, I didn't say anything. Throw throw the left flat, even though he's covered by four people. so i get The spirit within is starting to creep back out, dude. Danny, yeah you can get that ball between those four defenders.
00:45:32
Speaker
Let it rip. That guy's actually not there. Don't worry. I'm rooting for him just because I've never been a big Giants fan. And i'm I'm totally into this like bit of NFL lore that like everybody leaves the Giants and just, you know, goes and balls out like Saquon did last year. So i want I want to keep it going. Yeah.
00:45:52
Speaker
Okay, I don't think anybody saw this coming. Chiefs absolutely steamroll the Ravens. Like, dude, me and you were talking about this game last week and we we're like, hey man, this this might be the end of the Chiefs dynasty right here. We might be watching it as the Ravens go in there and pummel them.
00:46:09
Speaker
Ravens are beat up, bro. They have eight starters out across their offensive defense right now, man. I think that's the biggest thing. Obviously, i think the defense has got some X's and O's work to do. um But I think the biggest thing for them right now is just health, dude. I think they need to try to keep their head above water in the next few weeks, man, until they start getting some of these guys back. I still i still think they're a factor. i just you know Everything I've seen in the last couple years and what's on that roster, man, you can't count them out. But...
00:46:34
Speaker
It could snowball. It could definitely snowball, man, if these injuries keep mounting up. Now we don't know if Lamar Jackson's going to be good to go. I forgot to tell you this before the show started. Lamar's out four weeks. Four weeks?
00:46:47
Speaker
Yeah, so brutal, man. They're probably screwed. Yeah. um who Who's Raven's backup right now? Rush.
00:46:56
Speaker
That's not good. That's not good. Dude, just think if they would have drafted Shador like they wanted to, man. He could probably be starting for Baltimore right now. but he didn't want to go there. didn't want to go. Yeah, I know.
00:47:07
Speaker
So let's see who they got. So they got the Texans coming in. They could beat the Texans, man. the ran they They could rally. They could rally around Cooper Rush. They could beat the Texans. The Rams is tough, man. it'd be a It'd be a tall task to ask. You probably asked for them to split these next two, man. So that puts them at two and four.
00:47:23
Speaker
Then they got the Bears, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, man, and Bengals. So they if if they can โ€“ I think they need to split these next two, and then they got a nice easy slate coming up, man. They really don't got any โ€“ Really the rest of the season, man. They got the Packers the second to last game of the season.
00:47:38
Speaker
So here's what they got, dude. So Texans, then Rams, then they go Bears, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, Bengals, Steelers, Bengals, Patriots. That's who they got. and then they finish up with the Packers and the Steelers, man. So if if they can keep from dropping down to like one in five, i think they can I think they can keep this thing going and still be a factor in the playoffs.
00:47:58
Speaker
Yeah, it's not good, though, dude. And, like, on the flip side of the coin, like, what do you think about, like, the Chiefs at at this point? Do you think this was more just about the Ravens not playing well at all? Or do you think, like, this was, like, a starting point?
00:48:13
Speaker
The Chiefs look better, dude. To me, man, I think the Chiefs, they drop down a weight class. I think they're they're going to be a strong โ€“ I think, to me, you know, Chiefs always spend heavy weights for the last half decade. um I'm kind of putting them as middleweights now, if we'll keep the boxing analogy going. So they're kind of like a middleweight.
00:48:28
Speaker
But you can never count them out. You know what I mean? Like, I think Andy Reid, I think they're going to improve over the year. I think Andy Reid will get dialed in with what he wants to do with this particular offense set of playmakers. And I think they'll gradually improve.
00:48:41
Speaker
And, you know, I don't if if i don't think the the Lamar Jacksons, the Josh Allens of the world, I don't think they want any part of Kansas City come to town. I think they're hoping that these guys fuck up and miss the playoffs. Yeah. or, you know, a scrappy Broncos or Chargers team or something could take them out, man. Because until they beat him in the playoffs, dude, Patrick Mahomes is still Josh Allen's daddy, dude. Like he own he owns him and Lamar in the playoffs, man. yeah um So, you know, they're they're still kind of the big dog in the AFC until further notice. But it's going to have to be like that 2023 season where they go on the road if they're going to make a run. I don't see them.
00:49:14
Speaker
At this point, I'll be surprised if they win the AFC West. I'll definitely be i'll be shocked if they end up with ah as a one or two seed in the AFC. Yeah, agreed. um Jags beat the 49ers. Like, are we buying into the Jags actually being a good football team

Jaguars' Offensive Strategy Shift

00:49:29
Speaker
here? Like, I just. like I like Liam Cohen, dude. You see him getting in with getting on with Robert Sala after the game. He said, keep my name out your mouth, dude. Like, we were talking last week, man, about, you know, we miss some of the the, we love the coaches, like the characters in the coaching world. He might be our new character, dude. Yeah, dude.
00:49:46
Speaker
And did you see they they finally kind of made a decision where they're going to play Travis Hunter on offense now? Like they just kind of scrapped this whole, going to play him 20 plays on defense, 20 plays on offense.
00:49:58
Speaker
I think that's good. The only thing that concerns me, and this isn't just about Travis Hunter, this is just about the Jags offense as a whole. they're not getting any of the receivers involved at all. Like Brian Thomas Jr., I don't know what the hell's going on with him.
00:50:11
Speaker
But same thing with Travis Hunter. It's just like I don't think they know. Yeah, had 174 yards passing i want to on a Sunday. that You know, you think you see if you think they put out 26 points on the Niners, that means you're already 174 yards passing.
00:50:23
Speaker
Pass and that was it, man. And Trevor Lawrence is only averaging five yards per attempt. So, yeah, you're right. Not very explosive in the pass game. To me, man, Travis Hunter looks so electric when he gets the ball, dude. I'm scheming ways to get him the ball. Some wide receiver screens, some like, you know, guaranteed, know, quick slants over the middle. Like, let's just get this dude the ball in space and let him go, man, because he looks electric whenever they do get him the ball.
00:50:44
Speaker
They got do something. I don't know what they're doing. but Okay, let's go to Sunday night. We obviously know what happened. ah Packers and Cowboys tied at 40 points. Dude, am I just like living in some like fantasy land where the the Packers win the toss in overtime and decide to kick it away? like You know how bad this can go? Like...
00:51:02
Speaker
What the fuck happens if the Cowboys just run all the clock and it's only a 10 minute quarter. So that's not completely impossible for them to run out all the clock and then kick a field goal with three seconds left and you never even get the ball like it.
00:51:15
Speaker
I'm taking the ball first, man. yeah Take the ball first. Put the pressure on him. Yeah, I'm with you, man. I'm like, am i like missing something? Did they change the college rules? And then down the stretch, man, it seemed like ah it seemed like they were playing scared. like they wanted to They didn't want to leave any time on the clock because they were scared of Brandon Aubrey, dude. and I really think Brandon Aubrey is the reason. that He solidified that the that it was a worst-case scenario. It was going to be a tie, man, just because โ€“ ah The Packers didn't want to take any chances, man, on that. You know, they couldn't, they weren't being aggressive enough to try to freaking get a touchdown.
00:51:49
Speaker
And that instead they were more worried about just bleeding the clock down and playing for the tie, which I'll never get, dude. I get it, man. Ties better than a loss on the standings, but just as your culture of a football team, I feel like, you you know, you go for the win and you can live or die with it man. I think you can hold your head up high.
00:52:02
Speaker
If you just say, Hey, you know what We're being aggressive. We want to go for the win there at the end, came up a little bit short. it They just kind of seem like they got a little, little bitch made there at the end of that game. Dude. Also, for as much hype as we gave the Packers after two weeks and how great they looked, their secondary is god-awful. They're on front alert, dude.
00:52:21
Speaker
No, their secondary is god-awful. Their front seven is really good. Their secondary is one of the worst... Also, I guess I cannot say that their front seven is good. The Cowboys were starting a makeshift offensive line, and the Packers did not get a sack, which call it a sack if you want.
00:52:38
Speaker
Parsons got that one in overtime that stopped Dak from scoring, which I still don't know if that was a sack or not, but that's the only sack they got for that game. They had one sack for zero yards. like I don't know what the hell happened in that game, but the Packers did not look ready to play that game at all on defense.
00:52:56
Speaker
Dude, did you pick up on all of like the kind of fake like outrage at the moment like from the the the folks on the post-game show and like just online, like NFL commentators online? People were going off like it was the first time they've ever seen a tie in an NFL game. Like, oh, how can we let this happen? and We got to change the rules. It's like, dude...
00:53:15
Speaker
Ties have always been part of the game, man. It's something kind of funky that happens you know once every year, once every other year, and you just roll with it, man. I don't know where why was getting so high and mighty like, oh, we can never let this happen again. The NFL's got to change the overtime rules. To me, like dude, you just mentioned it.
00:53:31
Speaker
The Packers looked absolutely gutless at the end of that game, the way they were playing, and i think that made it worse. like Everyone of us says if you get a tie, it's usually a half win. Dude, the the Cowboys got a half win. The Packers got half a loss. like that That was a really, really bad look for the Packers at the end of that game.
00:53:49
Speaker
Yeah, if you're the Cowboys, you walk away saying, yeah, they were running scared from us at the end. Yeah, and if you're a Packers fan, you're like, what the fuck are we doing? they i they were If my bad didn't mean to interrupt you, I was gonna say if they were going to make a shift to the overtime rules, my thing has always been, I think overtime, if if they if Roger Goodell made me commissioner said, hey, you can redo it.
00:54:10
Speaker
I would do first team to six. And that's it, dude. You know, nobody if the other team scores a touchdown first drive, that's it. Otherwise, two field goals, man, two field goals or a touchdown wins it and just play as long as it takes for a team to get six points.
00:54:22
Speaker
Playoffs, I still think no matter what, that they're going to have to stick with the role of both teams get a possession just because you you don't want them. Yeah, I don't see it changing. I think yeah people get so outraged at one team not getting the ball. But I don't know, man. To me, you want the ball back, play defense, dude. agree.
00:54:37
Speaker
Okay, let's go into the Monday Night Shitters. I just... Dude, the Jets are bad, bad, and they might not win a game bad. Like, the Dolphins made them look like... the Dolphins looked like they were a class ahead of the Jets, which is really bad considering how bad the Dolphins looked through three weeks.
00:54:55
Speaker
At what point does somebody say we're just going to move Justin Fields to running He's not a quarterback, dude. We have to give up on this hope that Justin Fields is a quarterback. And the thing is, dude, he's one of the absolute best runners of the football in the league. That touchdown run he had was fucking awesome, dude. I saw next-gen stats.
00:55:13
Speaker
He actually ran 86 yards on that play, man. yeah He ran 86 yards on a 40-something yard touchdown run. man oh this is exactly He's incredible when he runs the ball. This is the exact argument I've been having with you for three years, though. He's not ah quarterback. yeah He cannot play quarterback at a consistent level in the NFL.
00:55:30
Speaker
It's going to get somebody fired on the Jets. Like, dude... I mean, I'm not saying put Tyrod Taylor in because that's obviously not the answer. Like Tyrod Taylor. don't mind Tyrod. I think he's decent. He ain't doing nothing with you, dude. Not in 2025. Yeah, it's a very low ceiling, but, you know, he's at least going to be competent.
00:55:47
Speaker
But, yeah, I just โ€“ don't know man. I feel like somebody's got got to figure out what to do with Justin Fields because he's too good not to be on the NFL roster. And you see when they have, like, the player voted polls, they always have Justin Fields up there for the best players in the league. So, like, you know, the โ€“ you know, real recognized real, man. Like, the players know how dangerous of a dude he is.
00:56:04
Speaker
But yeah, he's just, he's miscast as a quarterback, man. We we got to figure out, i don't know if he needs to be playing wide receiver or I'm thinking running back, dude. I'm thinking like a running back or like a, you know, like it go also like the wing T, like a wing back, you're giving it to you on reverses and stuff. Yeah, man.
00:56:19
Speaker
If you just find a way to get this dude the ball, cause he's incredible with the ball in his hands, but I just don't, you don't, he does not need to be dropping back and trying to read the field and That's what I was about to say. He's incredible with the ball in his hands when he's running the ball. When he's dropping back trying to read a defense, he is the absolute worst of incredible with the ball.
00:56:36
Speaker
It's not good, man. Put him like Josh Cribs. Remember those โ€“ it's going 15 years ago. Remember the Browns would run the Wildcat with Josh Cribs and had a package of plays, man. You could you could manufacture some easy you know easy type read plays for him, like run pass option type deals that he could probably be good on if that's all he had to focus on. Yeah.
00:56:53
Speaker
Yeah, man, I want to see that guy continue to be used as a weapon in the NFL, but I don't need to see him at quarterback anymore. Yeah, agreed. um Let's briefly touch on the other Monday night game. The Broncos just destroyed the Bengals. We don't need to touch on anything for the Broncos. there Their offense definitely looked the best it has all year this week, which is not impressive considering the Bengals' defenses in the shitter.
00:57:15
Speaker
Dude, me and you were texting a little bit back and forth last night. And I'm just, like, sitting there watching this game and hearing them talk about, like, Burrow being injured for the last five years and stuff.
00:57:26
Speaker
And, like, dude, I know Browning had that that stretch two years ago where it's like, okay, he played well. But, like, dude, when you put this much money into your offense, like โ€“ I don't know, man. To me, you you have to get like somebody like Jameis or Kirk Cousins or somebody to be your backup quarterback for Burrow.
00:57:45
Speaker
Because, I mean, at this point, it's not a matter of if Burrow's going to get hurt. as He's going to get hurt. like yeah Whether it's the offensive line, which we could argue all day about this. What they've done with the offensive line is absolute...
00:57:59
Speaker
The O-line is horrible, man. i think that yeah and I think that's a bigger deal, man. Again, obviously, it looks like you know whether it's some combination of Browning falling off and the O-line being horrible that's led to this, man.
00:58:11
Speaker
I can't get on the Bengals too much, man. if If it was preseason, if you asked me where Browning was at as far as pre as far as backup quarterback situations, I'd say the Bengals probably had one of the best backup QBs in the league.
00:58:22
Speaker
Clearly, that's not the case, though. At this point, what do you do, man? Do you try to salvage something and trade for somebody, or do you just fucking, ah you know... Dude, I'm not going to lie. Zach Taylor should not be absolved of of blame because the plays that they're calling are not good either. Like, you know what your offensive line is.
00:58:41
Speaker
they They came out this offseason. like, we're goingnna run the ball better. They can't run because their line can't block. Like, yeah how the fuck did how how did you go into the offseason? Look at what this offensive line had done for the last two years and just run it back again with the same offensive line.
00:58:58
Speaker
They're getting manhandled on every fucking play. Like, dude, why are they not like chipping at the ends with tight ends just to to give like you at some point you have to give the offensive linemen some help because they need it because they cannot single handedly block these guys.
00:59:15
Speaker
i mean The Broncos were rushing for โ€“ they weren't even blitzing and they were getting home like all night. i And the Broncos' defense is good. Don't get me wrong, but โ€“ This is more about the Bengals, just the bottom falling out very in very quick fashion. And honestly, how much better would it be

Bengals' Struggles and QB Dilemma

00:59:31
Speaker
if Burrow was healthy? It wouldn't be. I don't know. It looked it looked very bad, dude.
00:59:35
Speaker
That's why I don't know โ€“ don't know if โ€“ I feel like you'd almost be like chasing chasing good money with โ€“ or chasing bad money with good money if you tried to โ€“ if you tried to salvage something like, I mean, if you could get somebody like a Jameis or even a Kirk Cousins on the cheap, sure, go for it. But I definitely, wouldn't want to give up like any kind of asset because what's best case scenario, man, like you're maybe at the fringe of the playoff picture when Joe Burrow comes back for the last month of the season. i did And then dude you're not going to be a factor when Superbowl, the offense doesn't look like it did last year. It's, you know, again, credit where it's due. Jordan was right. He caught it as mistake going this hard on the, ah going this heavy on the offense from the jump.
01:00:12
Speaker
A more balanced approach definitely should have been in the cards, especially especially when you factor in the injury history of Joe Burrow. it's It's not that, though. like ah that's The problem is that division is wide open for the taking now with the Ravens not playing well and now Lamar Hurt. like Dude, if you're going to make a move, you have to do it now. You can't just keep playing this way because whether or not it's the offensive line play calls or Browning, whatever it is, dude, you have two receivers that are making like $60 million dollars and they caught five balls last night for like 45 yards.
01:00:43
Speaker
Like... i'm That's what you invested in. Like, those are the guys that have to make your team. It has to be a make or break through those guys. If you're not getting those guys the ball, then what the hell did you do all this for, no matter who the quarterback is? I mean, those three guys are taking up 60% of their cap room.
01:01:01
Speaker
And as of right now, it looks like the dumbest decision ever that they made this happen because, I mean, I have a friend who's a Bengals fan, and he said last night, he's like, there is no hope for this team right now.
01:01:13
Speaker
And I thought he was being a little bit negative, and then I watched that game last night, and I'm like, there is lead there's no hope. I just, I don't know. i Like, what is even the fix for this team? Like, I'm i'm with you. like does That's why I think maybe you just ride it out, dude. I don't know if you to invest anymore. Because what's, yeah, I don't know that Jame is coming into this situation going improve it. prior put up Probably put up more passing yards, but i don't know if he's getting any more wins, man. I just, it's not good.
01:01:41
Speaker
Okay, anyway, let's move on.

NFL Game Predictions and Outcomes

01:01:43
Speaker
We'll talk about our NFL picks. We'll talk about our NFL picks.
01:01:52
Speaker
Yeah. All right. We're plus one hour and it's 11 o'clock here on a Tuesday. Let's go a little speed round on this one, man. We'll briefly touch it, but we'll, we'll get, we'll get pushing through these first off Thursday night. full off Do you want to know how we did last week?
01:02:12
Speaker
Oh, yeah. I always forget about that part, dude. From now on, as soon as we cut off Drake, you jump in. That's how we do this segment from now on, dude. went 10-5-1 last week, and you went 9-6-1 last week. No wonder you're so eager to share those results. 3-1, Jordan, this season.
01:02:28
Speaker
the The game that decided it was Eagles and Bucks. You took Bucks. I took Eagles. Fucker, dude. All right. Battle California Thursday night. Niners going into the Rams. We know the Niners fans are going take over. is going to a home game for the Niners.
01:02:42
Speaker
Tough game, though, dude. I think the Rams get the win. Yeah, I'm going the Rams as well. i I do not like this game for the Niners at all. Purdy's banged up. Their entire team's hurt. It's not good for the the Niners, man.
01:02:55
Speaker
Two and two Vikings travel to Cleveland to face Dylan Gabriel in the one and three Browns. I cannot believe the Browns starting Dylan Gabriel over Fedora. This is is like time this show I've had to say that I was wrong and Jordan was right. So I'm really pissed off and I'm hoping the Vikings win.
01:03:10
Speaker
Bro, this is in London. This is not in Cleveland or in Minnesota. This is in London. I don't think it makes a difference, though. I'm still going Vikings.
01:03:21
Speaker
I'm going Vikings as well, even though I don't i don't love it. I don't know, man. What's Dylan Gabriel really going to do, man? I mean, I can tell you what he's not going to do is what Joe Flacco did on Sunday and throw a fucking... What what if the hell is that game that we played where he threw the ball in the air and fucking somebody had to catch it? like that's what wait that The kids call it jackpot now, yeah. Yeah, that's what he did on that pick that he threw. like the The defender had time to fair catch that ball. Yeah, I'm not a believer in Dylan Gabriel. As a ah ah Hawaiian transplant, man, I wish I could root for him more, dude. But Brett's babysitter, he's having Hawaii, lived in the same town, Dylan gave us from there, Milani.
01:04:02
Speaker
But I just ain't feeling a man. I wouldn't be super confident in Dylan Gabriel traveling to play the Minnesota Golden Gophers this weekend, much less the Minnesota Vikings, man. So I'm going Vikings. Yeah, all right. Dude, second straight loser leaves town match for the Ravens, dude. Ravens and Texans in Baltimore.
01:04:19
Speaker
I think Texans get the win, man. I hate to say it, dude. I'm hoping Derrick Henry can channel his inner Titan and go for 200 yards like he used to always do against Houston, but I'm having trouble seeing it, man. I think Houston gets the win.
01:04:31
Speaker
Yeah, I just i can't put my faith in Cooper Rush, dude. I did it i can't do it. yeah I'm going Texans as well. The 0-4 Saints are favorites at home against the Giants by one and a half points, man. Saints, outside of week three, the the bottom fell out week three.
01:04:47
Speaker
Rest the time, though, the Saints have been playing good football. I think they get their first win of the season against the Giants.
01:04:55
Speaker
I can't pick the Saints. I'm going Giants. Yeah, it's hard to build too confident about them, but like I said, they've been they been playing pretty decent, man. They gave the Bills a tough game on ah they did on Sunday.
01:05:06
Speaker
um All right, Broncos and Eagles in Philly. Eagles win, man. I think this could be a a pretty tough game, too, but I think the Eagles win and get to 5-0. Yeah, I'm going Eagles. I told you last week, ah I'm not picking against the Eagles until they lose.
01:05:21
Speaker
1-2-1 Cowboys at 0-4 Jets. I think the Cowboys, they you know they they might be like the good-bad team this year. like yeah I don't know if they're going win a lot, but they've been pretty entertaining for the most part. I think they send the Jets to 0-5. Yeah, Jets are deplorable. my My preseason bet's looking stronger and stronger every day.
01:05:39
Speaker
One in three Raiders at the three in one Colts, man. If I'm a Colts fan, I'm probably way more nervous about this game than you should be. If you're three in one playing a one in three team, I could totally see the Raiders coming in and, and beating up on them. But in in deference to our friend Hawk, I'll pick the Colts.
01:05:54
Speaker
I'm not picking the Raiders, dude. Geno Smith looks completely washed. and He has seven interceptions through four games. like Dude, if he gets to ten interceptions before the sixth game, like does Pete Carroll finally just sit him down? I mean, can he pick It's their backup. You've got to try something else.
01:06:11
Speaker
He single-handedly lost them that Bears game on Sunday. Yeah, agreed, man. Dolphins and Panthers in Carolina. I'm going Carolina. God. It's a bad one.
01:06:23
Speaker
Dude, the Panthers just got wrecked by the Patriots. um
01:06:29
Speaker
I guess I'll go Panthers as well. that was we're We're thinking that's the last time we see Tyreek Hill in and Dolphins uniform, right? Might be the last time we see Tyreek Hill in an NFL uniform. Yeah, dislocated knee, that's a tough one, man. That's usually one that you end up being out like a two seasons over, man. so And for a guy totally built on speed like him, yeah, that's a rough one, man.
01:06:50
Speaker
Bucs traveling up to the Pacific Northwest at Seattle. I think the Bucs' luck continues to run out, man. this This has got game of the week potential for sure. I think Sam Donald and the Seahawks get it done.
01:07:02
Speaker
Yeah, I like the Seahawks team a lot, man. And, ah dude, i just โ€“ mean, how much longer can you continue to play until the last play before that luck just runs out and you just end up getting blown out in one of these games? Like, I just โ€“ I don't know man. Are the Bucs really that good or is it just like โ€“ There's just a team of gamers that like when it comes down to the last minute, they're going to give you a chance to win. um Unless you're the Chiefs, those teams like that, it tends to end up balancing out. You can get on a heater and get three or four straight, but then you're liable to lose the next three or four, man, when you're just you know threading the needle like that, man.
01:07:39
Speaker
Yeah. ah Cards and Titans in Arizona, Cardinals by 30. I seriously don't think the Titans are going to win a game, dude. I they're not favorite i don't think I'm going to pick them to win a game. They'll probably sneak one.
01:07:52
Speaker
They'll probably sneak one, but i'm deaf I don't think there's a time where i'm er I'm picking them to win this season, man. Yeah, just it's not good. I'm going Cardinals as well. ah Commanders in a tough spot in LA to face had just a nails-tough Chargers team, man. think the Chargers get the dub.
01:08:08
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going to go Chargers as well, even though ah did not like what I saw from them on Sunday. And Herbert definitely was reverting back to his old ways in that game. I did not love what I saw from Justin Herbert on Sunday.
01:08:22
Speaker
Lions and Bengals, we just took a shit all over Cincinnati. I'm going to continue taking the shit. The Lions are going to piss pound the Bengals badly. Lions are 10 and a half point favorites on the road, man. That is nuts for an NFL game, dude. I mean, have you the Bengals the last two weeks have arguably been the worst team in the NFL.
01:08:41
Speaker
Yeah. Pats and Bills in Buffalo. Liked what saw of the Pats last week. Put Golden Delta ass on Carolina, but Sunday night in Buffalo, you know it's going to be rocking, dude. I don't think that Drake Mays has any chance for what's coming to him Sunday night. And Bills are wearing those icy whites on Sunday night. Dude, those are going to Those clean.
01:08:59
Speaker
Yeah, that's sick, dude. I kind of would want them to save them for when it's a little bit colder, but I can't be too mad at them debuting on a Sunday night, man. Dude, this Monday night football, man, that's going to fun one, dude. This is going to be a fun one. We don't have a game next week, so practice should be out earlier.
01:09:14
Speaker
Let's pencil in to go back to the OG and tape at halftime, man, because I want to watch the second half of this game together, dude. Chiefs and Jags. in Jacksonville. Big game for the Chiefs, man. Are the Jaguars for real?
01:09:25
Speaker
Just let you know how much respect the Chiefs name still carries, man. Despite how underwhelming they've been this year, they're three and a half point favorites on the road against the three and one Jaguars. and I'll go with my buddy Liam Cohen, man. I think Duval rolls, man. I'm just going to have faith. I think it's more fun if the Jags win that game. So I'm gonna i'm going to root for it and i'll I'll speak it into existence and say Jacksonville wins.

I'm going go Chiefs. Like, I just... I just don't. hard to but It's hard to ever pick. Even without knowing anybody on the rosters, dude, I can go into a coma and wake up five years from now, you tell me Chiefs and Jaguars are playing, and I'm like, yeah, Chiefs, easy.
01:10:00
Speaker
i just I don't know, man. I just have a hard time believing the Jags are actually this good. That's fair. I mean, this is one of the best-run franchises in the NFL against one of the worst-run franchises, so I can't i can't run you over the coals, man, for picking them.

Betting Strategies and Listener Questions

01:10:13
Speaker
yeah Let's hit Million Dollar Bets.
01:10:16
Speaker
Okay, KK. Jesus.
01:10:28
Speaker
All right. We were both losers again last week, man. We have been on a cold spill on these bets, man. I had to do a pro in college parlay. And the Georgia Bulldogs unfortunately let me down against the Crimson Tide. Jordan had to go around the horn and in the AFC, right? Yep.
01:10:47
Speaker
in the AFC. He lost on that one for the season. Jordan's sitting at $725,000, so he's down $275K so far. I'm still up. I'm at $1,188,000. Jordan's got a hole to dig out of.
01:10:59
Speaker
He's got a fun one this week, man. You know, we're doing the Wheel of Death this year where we get a random betting scenario that we got to do. Jordan has down goes Frazier. What this means, he's got to take a money line bet and pick a college football team unranked to beat a ranked top 25 team. Jordan, give me your game and your amount.
01:11:17
Speaker
Damn it, I didn't screenshot it because I'm an idiot. Of course, of course I didn't. So now I have to go back in here. So you you give us your bet first because now I have to go in. didn't screenshot mine either, dude. I forgot too. Let's just let's talk theory, dude.
01:11:31
Speaker
What was some of the games that you were looking at, man So, i look i'm ah looked at BYU and West Virginia. i just I think that's too far gone.
01:11:42
Speaker
i can't do Cincinnati because they're not even an underdog. They're actually favored against Iowa State now. So, can't do that. You can still do it if you want, man. No, I don't want to do that because they're favored. That's not fun, dude. like get Them being favored isn't very much fun. fair So, I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to go with...
01:12:04
Speaker
What did I decide on? I can't remember. oh boy, we're getting a live decision on the air. I'm going to go Purdue. um I'm going to go Purdue. I'm not going to put a ton on it because I'm a little bit worried about this one.
01:12:16
Speaker
I'll go $25,000 on Purdue, which would pay $96,250.
01:12:21
Speaker
Okay. Hey, man, you never go broke taking a profit, dude. I like it. All right, so I got a two-team parlay. So I got top 25 matchups, so I got to parlay all the top 25 games. Luckily, it's only two this week. I'm taking Vandy, man. I like Vandy getting 10.5 against Alabama. i think they can cover that. I think Vandy's funky enough.
01:12:38
Speaker
Even though Alabama wins, I think Vandy covers. And then... I'm going with the Seminoles, bro. I'm going with that Seminole win, dude. It's going to be in Tallahassee. i think cart I think Carson Beck's knees quiver just a little bit, man.
01:12:50
Speaker
and and And we see him ah you know fall apart there in front that Florida State crowd. I'm betting 50K. This will win $182,000. I'm sending the screenshot to Jordan right now to to lock it in.
01:13:04
Speaker
And that'll be for Million Dollar Bets. It's time for the listener mail. Music
01:13:23
Speaker
All right, Jordan, what we got mailbag? All right, we'll start with the first one. This is from our friend Mike Miller. Well, my friend Mike Miller. He asked, do you think a head coach needs to call plays to be considered elite?
01:13:37
Speaker
To be considered elite, no. I feel like nowadays, I think if you're an offensive-minded guy, they're going to want you calling the plays, man. If you're an offensive coach, I feel like it's almost like, what are you doing? If you're if you're not calling the plays, what are you really doing for the team? So I think that's kind of the expectation at this point. But you know I think you could be an elite coach without without calling the plays on offense.
01:13:58
Speaker
Yeah, I agree, and I get what he was trying to say here. Like, he's talking about Andy Reid and McVay and those guys, and he's a Seahawks fan, so he's talking about Mike McDonald as well calling defensive plays. Here's my thing, though.
01:14:09
Speaker
I think you have to be a really, really focused and good head coach, and you have to have a really good staff around you to call plays because this is one thing I'll say about Dan Quinn when we he was with the Falcons and he was calling defensive plays.
01:14:22
Speaker
They had a lot of problems with clock management because he wasn't paying close enough attention to it. It's tough, man. And it happened again on Sunday. Like, Commanders had a couple of spots where they needed to call a timeout, and they didn't do it.
01:14:33
Speaker
They let precious time roll off the clock. So, yeah, i I don't know, man. I think you can still be elite and not call plays. So, the way it works in youth football, man, is at least where we're at, dude. So, like, you know, you have basically, like, two year groups in each division. So, we're 8U right now. So, we have the kids that were 7 when the season started and 8, right? And, obviously, Brett was 7. So, this is my first year coaching at U. So, I'm assistant coach this year.
01:14:57
Speaker
I'm most likely to be the head coach next year. And I'm also already, I'm toying with being the head coach, but letting somebody call the players on offense and defense. Cause what you said, man, one, the the time management and just overall strategy stuff.
01:15:10
Speaker
It's very easy to get lost in the sauce when you're just thinking, okay, what play do I need to dial up next? What's the down and distance, man? So I think, I think we may separate that dude. And just, I can just focus on setting the lineup, setting the tone and,
01:15:21
Speaker
and managing, you know, big picture type stuff instead of having to think about, okay, do we do 34 blasts, 23 counter, all that kind of stuff. So I obviously extremely much smaller scale, but I definitely get the, what you say, man, about sometimes it's hard to be the head coach and call the freaking plays.
01:15:36
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Next question from our buddy, Phil Dunnett. Why isn't an American football, the shape of a ball?
01:15:45
Speaker
next dude like oh so rugby isn't a sport either now i guess like good yeah i feel done it uh eric yazi asked us do you think the colt should cut adana mitchell for causing 14 points being overturned we hit on that already uh tony barker asked us is there a better way to end a regular season game than a tie without having to play multiple overtimes how would you solve the issue So my realistic answer, first team to six, right? Like screw each team gets the ball. First team to six, man.
01:16:17
Speaker
um my set Or, you know, I would say this, dude. I get what you're saying, Jordan, about both teams get in the playoffs. i I could be pushed to go, ah you know, first team to six in โ€“ First team to six in the regular season, make it first team to nine in the playoffs. So you got to score twice. you know i mean? Whether that's three field goals, a touchdown and a field goal, first team to nine in the playoffs, like that.
01:16:40
Speaker
If you really want to be fun, though, man, we can go back to my idea. I think I dropped it a couple years ago, dude, is if we end up to if we play the 10-minute regulation, it's still tied. Each team picks one guy. They go out to the center field logo and fucking fist fight, dude. Tap, tap, and tap, nap, or snap, dude. and whoever wins the fight for their team, um they you know that team wins, man.
01:16:59
Speaker
I think if that would be fun, I think here's my

Creative Solutions for Tied Games

01:17:02
Speaker
idea. If it's tied at the end of overtime, we obviously know all these kickers can kick longer and longer. I think you should basically do a field goal contest and whoever can kick the longest field goal wins the game.
01:17:13
Speaker
Yeah, that could be fun to you, man. Can you imagine like 75 yarder for the win? i But I want to go zanier. I want it to be like basketball where like the other team can do distractions and stuff like that, you know, like because you're you're you're saying kicking it basically off a tee. No, no, no, no, no. A straight up field goal attempt. Like it has to be a real field goal attempt.
01:17:33
Speaker
Okay, so you got you got the the kick block team out there as well. No, no, no, not not off a tee. I don't want that. I want to be a straight up field goal attempt. What if we did off a tee and like each, you had the full, the full width of resources from the entire stadium between the crowd, the players, the lights, the music, like the home team could do whatever they want to distract the kicker to like cut the lights off, like on the way to his run up, all that kind of stuff, man.
01:17:57
Speaker
Now we're talking. Yeah. who Who would the Falcons send out, man, if it was freaking, ah if we had my idea, two men in or one men leave to decide who wins?
01:18:08
Speaker
It's too bad they don't got Kalei Campbell anymore, man. He would have been That's a monster. um guesston ja is a pretty fucking big dude man I'm guessing Jalen Walker would be high up that list because he looks like a bad man. like he He definitely looks like he could probably fight somebody.
01:18:25
Speaker
Yeah. I don't know who the Titans price in Jeffrey Simmons, I guess. Yeah. Okay. Uh, so the last, we got two more questions. We got one from my lovely wife.
01:18:37
Speaker
Uh, how are you guys celebrating international podcast day? Well, I think you can figure it out. We're podcasting. Yeah. yeah What better way? All Last question. This is a life question.

Parenting and Life Philosophy

01:18:48
Speaker
Jason Koenig asks, what's the most important thing a father needs to do for his children?
01:18:53
Speaker
Does it differ between a son and a daughter? You're the only one that can speak on the difference between both of them, but I'll give mine ah after you give yours. I think just be in their form, dude. Like it sounds cliche, man, but just being present, dude, be present, be a factor in their life. I feel like there are a lot of people out there who like, you know, think just provide, you know, providing form is enough, which that's great, man. That's important. And for some people, maybe it's all they can do to just, you know, provide the basic needs for their kids and that's fine. But I think just having a genuine, a genuine interest in the stuff that they they're into, trying to nurture their interests and just let them be the,
01:19:29
Speaker
you know, just encourage them to be the best little, little human beings they can be, man. I think that's, that's really what you need to do. I know there's, you know, that's more like a big picture one. And there's a thousand little things that you got to kind of do to go along with that. But I would say just, just being present in their lives, man.
01:19:44
Speaker
Yeah. That's a good one. This is what what I kind of just do for myself. Like, I just want to show Zoe, like what she should expect in a partner in the future. Like,
01:19:56
Speaker
The way I treat Ari and Zoe, like i just I want her to know like this is what you should expect out of a man. you should um ah He should always treat you with kindness and things like that.
01:20:08
Speaker
and then like I don't have a son, but i would they'll do the same thing with this. I'd teach your son like this is what what you need to be as a man and like this is what you need to do for your family and things like that. like i just I think that's the two biggest things.
01:20:21
Speaker
There's so many shitty people in the world right now, man. like it is our responsibility as good humans to make sure we're raising good humans. I think that's the biggest thing for me, not teach them hate, things like that. Like, dude, what we always stress as though, don't ever be mean to someone at school. Cause you just never know what they got going on at home. And you might be doing something to them that makes their home life even worse. And dude, I just, i don't know, man, kids are just so like moldable and everything like that. and
01:20:52
Speaker
If you're even showing them an inkling of hate, like I just think you're setting them up for failure in the future. Yeah, that was a very good answer, man. and yeah you're right. Just making them be, like you said, just making them be good people, man. That's why I told you, dude, I've always been mad that you guys didn't have more than one kid, man. We need people like you Ari need to be pumping out more, dude, to try to counteract some of ah you know these low lives that will run out eight or nine kids, man.
01:21:18
Speaker
Yeah, agreed. Yeah. All right. That's it for week four, man. Next week will be a quarter of the way doing the NFL season. We'll have our quarter way awards and stuff. ah Jordan has some closing thoughts and we'll get out of here. Yeah, man. Just piggybacking off what I said, just be a good human to people, treat people the way you want to be treated. And yeah, we'll talk to you guys next week.
01:21:55
Speaker
Go, go, go.
