Speaker: I thought we were going to get like a whole episode of weddings.
Speaker: I'm kind of surprised there's only going to be one real episode of weddings.
Speaker: That's a little too bad.

Speaker: Maybe there are going to be really boring weddings.

Speaker: Maybe there will be no weddings.
Speaker: Well, there's definitely one because it's in this episode.

Speaker: So Kwame and Chelsea's journey is the focus of this episode.

Speaker: So we move on to the dream wedding of the one known as Chelsea and the one known as Kwame.

Speaker: And honestly, I started to wonder in these last couple episodes if maybe Kwame isn't really as much on the fence as they sort of made him seem, but they've been like playing up some small stuff.
Speaker: Because like a few times she's asked him a question like, so are you ready to say yes or something?
Speaker: And they don't ever show his answer.
Speaker: They just sort of like show a facial expression and cut away and it's
Speaker: It just made me start wondering, like, is this just for the edit?
Speaker: It's just fake drama.
Speaker: So that we'll wonder if he's going to say yes at the altar when, like, he was definitely going to say yes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: That's the thing.
Speaker: I don't feel like there's, like, a huge, yeah, question mark here.
Speaker: I think there's going to be a... Yeah, I think he's going to say yes.
Speaker: Yeah, and there's more than just, you know, this is coming from more than just his, um, whatchamacallit, um...

I mean, one of the things that we've learned throughout the episode, well, not throughout the episode, throughout the season, is the fact that Kwame is Gnayan, Gnayan, however you say it, from Ghana, and he is very close to his mom and his sister and...
Speaker: Yeah, so in this episode, we finally get to meet at least one member of his... Well, two members of his family, so...
Speaker: Yeah, and his sister is amazing.
Speaker: I loved her.
Speaker: I feel like if he isn't going to say yes, and you've gotten your sister that much on board, you're evil.
Speaker: That would be unacceptable.
Speaker: But also, that did happen.
Speaker: I know you haven't seen it, but last season with SK, he broke his mom's heart saying no.
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: I'm not okay with that.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: Well, I mean, I also, I watched Love is Blind season one, and in season one, Kelly and Kenny...
Speaker: Kelly was billed as this very indecisive woman who just had very high standards.
Speaker: And so one of the people in her family was just like, was shown in a conversation with Kelly where she was just like trying to emphasize that like she was going to miss out if she said no.
Speaker: And, and she eventually said no, you know, I wondered how that family member feels like.
Speaker: Um,
Speaker: It's just fascinating.
Speaker: They must have been so boring because I really can hardly remember them at all.
Speaker: No, no, I remember them.
Speaker: I mean, they were boring, obviously, but it felt like they were going to get married.
Speaker: Oh, I know you remember them.
Speaker: It's just I don't.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: No, no, I remember them, unfortunately.
Speaker: I mean, I don't want to say unfortunately as in like, I don't think you people were bad, y'all.
Speaker: Kelly and Kenny, I hope the best for both of you.
Speaker: Honestly, as an ADHD person, boring is the worst thing you can be.
Speaker: So I guess I am insulting them.

Speaker: That's kind of the thing with entertainment.
Speaker: The worst thing that you can be in entertainment.
Speaker: It's not supposed to be boring.

Speaker: Because then people just stop watching or don't remember.

Speaker: But also we do have different ideas of what is boring because like I know some people think like Tiffany and Brett are boring and I don't think they're boring at all.
Speaker: I think watching people build a really real deep like mature relationship is fascinating fun.
Speaker: Yeah, I thought that was actually fun.
Speaker: I think there were comedic moments, especially there were tense moments.
Speaker: I mean, I remember things about Cameron and Lauren.
Speaker: I can I can immediately tell you shit.
Speaker: So one of the things that I remember from them, it's that that little rap number that he did.
Speaker: Yeah, probably he doesn't know that that's the thing he's most remembered for.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker: That and then the very – That's what I felt in this last episode trying to read Jackie's text.
Speaker: I felt like that.
Speaker: It's like I don't want to hear these words coming out of my mouth.
Speaker: One of the things that I really appreciated with having in that episode with –
Speaker: Not in that episode, I mean.
Speaker: One of the things that I deeply appreciated about the relationship between Cameron and Lauren was the fact that they kept it very real.
Speaker: Like, when they went to talk to her dad, she asked him serious questions.
Speaker: Like, it wasn't just some joke.
Speaker: He was like, have you ever been in a room where they're just all black people?
Speaker: Have you like literally done that before you come here and you're like, Oh, yeah, sure.
Speaker: I'm going to marry this really hot black woman.
Speaker: Like, have you had that experience?
Speaker: He was like, Fuck yeah, I've had that experience.
Speaker: And I was like, Yeah, you know, this is I'm actually kind of glad that, you know, you not kind of glad, but like,
Speaker: I'm happy that the show is really exploring the actual questions too and not just some like.
Speaker: I think Cameron and Lauren and how genuine they were is exactly why I got interested in Love is Blind because it was like quarantine didn't have that much to do.
Speaker: I'll try watching anything on Netflix.
Speaker: And then I was like, boom, I actually love this.
Speaker: But if it had just been like some other kind of generic like couple that didn't really get that deep, I probably wouldn't have even finished the season.
Speaker: Yeah, no, that was like a really nice.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Also, I didn't know for a long time how many white people only know other white people.
Speaker: It's mind boggling.
Speaker: It's like they have to ask those questions.
Speaker: It's quite important.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: No, I was blown away by that.
Speaker: But I will say that when it, the Kwame and Chelsea thing, I was unsure.
Speaker: I really did not give this relationship 100%.
Speaker: Well, not 100%.
Speaker: I wouldn't even give it a 90% at one point.
Speaker: But then I met his sister.
Speaker: And I also come from Central Asia.
Speaker: Well, I say also, but, you know, I come from a society where family members' opinions and their honor is just as tied to your honor.
Speaker: So, like, if he says no at the altar, he's embarrassing his sister as well, very deeply.
Speaker: And he doesn't.
Speaker: And he has a very close relationship with his sister.
Speaker: And I was like, wow.
Speaker: Even not coming from a culture like that, I think that he would be.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I thought that SK was doing that to his mom.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: No, for me, the... Honestly, if you know you're going to say no, you should give your family a hint, even if it's against the rules of your contract.
Speaker: It's just too mean to get people emotionally invested like that.
Speaker: And I was also happy for Chelsea, to be honest.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm happy for Chelsea.
Speaker: She's been really...
Speaker: Look, we discussed this the other day.
Speaker: And when someone is so in love with you that you are the hottest person in the world and they cannot stop gushing about you, it's such an amazing feeling, you know?
Speaker: Also, it is so amazing to feel that way.

Speaker: And my God, it's the most powerful feeling in the world.
Speaker: Like, it's even better than being loved that much.

Speaker: They had that hot photo shoot and I was like,

Speaker: I have just a gnawing question about this.
Speaker: So I don't know if you noticed, but they're wearing these Calvin Klein underwear outfits, which Kwame also mentioned them.
Speaker: Like in the pods, he was like, oh, there's nothing hotter than a girl hanging out in her Calvin Klein underwear set.
Speaker: And it just felt ham handed like a product placement.
Speaker: But now it's like, how has this product placement been orchestrated?
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: But it was nice.
Speaker: It was nice.
Speaker: I mean, I'm not opposed to it.
Speaker: I just wonder, like, how did Kwame come into this with like, can I bring my product placement deal into this show or did Netflix set it up?
Speaker: I just want to know.
Speaker: Yeah, and just I for it was I want to say it was tastefully done partly because and I'm not saying it was tastefully done in the sense that I mean, I have an OnlyFans.
Speaker: That's a lot of skin covered if you ask me.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, it was... That brow, you can't see any nip at all.
Speaker: They looked very covered up.
Speaker: I did not feel as if it was erotic.

Speaker: It's definitely interesting to see how much like that scene has stood out to other people because I guess I just didn't think that much about it.
Speaker: But yeah, most people like they don't do photo shoots like that really.
Speaker: It's just literally I do that all the time and charge money for it.
Speaker: So like it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
Speaker: But I can see how like, yeah, if you've never done anything like that before, it's pretty big deal.
Speaker: I actually took some body shots of myself the other day.
Speaker: And while I am going through some dysmorphia, I don't really take body shots of myself.
Speaker: I'm not really that huge on that shit.
Speaker: I never took a single nude until I started at OnlyFans.
Speaker: I was just really born.
Speaker: What I liked about it was that it was like real.
Speaker: It was something real.
Speaker: They didn't go on a boat or like weekend some shit.
Speaker: No, it was like a very intense, intimate, personal thing.

Speaker: Taking pictures like that of yourself can be great for your like confidence.

Speaker: If you look in the mirror, do you identify more with one side of your face than the other?

Speaker: I have two very different looking sides of my face.

Speaker: My left side.

Speaker: I've asked a million fucking people this question, and autistic people have an answer.
Speaker: They frequently say that their different sides of their face look very different, and most people say their left side.
Speaker: But some people, including my mom, say their right.
Speaker: I say my left.
Speaker: I just figured this out because one time I was looking in the mirror, and I looked in my right eye, and I was like, who the fuck are you?
Speaker: I know, right?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But I've come to appreciate my right side.
Speaker: My right side is my powerful side.
Speaker: My left side is my sensitive side.
Speaker: I think my right side is like clearly like it's on my side because I think that's the side that like sometimes just gives me answers to stuff I hadn't really thought about.

Speaker: So Chelsea gets to meet Kwame's sister and it's beautiful.
Speaker: I feel like up until that point, Chelsea is a little bit, I don't know, like she's scared that she has not met any member of Kwame's family.
Speaker: And so,

Speaker: It feels a little ephemeral and not real.
Speaker: And then the sister shows up and she's like grabs Kwame by the ear.
Speaker: She just like could not be more ideal.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: She's perfect.
Speaker: And she's very, very happy.
Speaker: I feel like that's what family should do.
Speaker: Like I have that kind of family where it's like if this is like, okay, this is your person.
Speaker: This is your partner.
Speaker: They're in, you know, like.
Speaker: And that's just how you show your love to your family member is you show your love to the person they love.
Speaker: And I always find it like honestly pretty fucked up when families like don't do that.
Speaker: Like they think they get to choose whether they approve of like someone's partner.
Speaker: Yeah, you don't get to choose.
Speaker: Yeah, no, it's not.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: I mean, there are some exceptions.
Speaker: Like, I'm not saying you have to hug abusers or anything like that.
Speaker: I mean, if you are my family member and you've picked Jackie, I don't know what to say.
Speaker: Well, then you need more love than ever because you're probably hurting.
Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: But I mean, I'm happy for Chelsea.
Speaker: I'm happy.

Speaker: But then, I mean, we end with Chelsea and Kwame's wedding and Chelsea gives a speech and Kwame sort of

Speaker: Oh, wait, I did write down some very vital notes in my just ongoing continuing to prove my own point that like, see, Zach is autistic.
Speaker: And I am sure of it because he's talking to his friend and his friend comments on how much Zach would think about like any kind of decision.
Speaker: He's like, I know how particular you are when changing your brand of milk.
Speaker: This dude and I will spend a week researching toilet paper brands.
Speaker: That's the end of the diagnostic criteria.
Speaker: A neurotypical person doesn't do that.
Speaker: They don't spend a week researching toilet paper brands.
Speaker: But I do, and that's exactly why I'm not the one who goes to the grocery store anymore, because I take way too long.
Speaker: This is why I like ordering groceries and just, I mean, part of the reason that I order groceries is because I'm disabled and I don't drive.
Speaker: But I also like it because I don't have to do the choosing.
Speaker: Yeah, I used to do that, but then Frida was like, I'd rather go to the store and just get exactly the stuff I like.
Speaker: She's particular, and I'm not that particular, but I'm happy to not do things.
Speaker: So it's like if she wants to do it her way, that's totally fine with me.

Speaker: I really liked the way that Kwame just surprised Chelsea with that nice little speech at the end.

Speaker: When Bliss is talking to her friends, she says, there's no data to tell you it'll last forever.

Speaker: I mean, Tiffany's having a really rough time.
Speaker: And then I think it was this episode, right?
Speaker: Where Tiffany's having a rough time.
Speaker: And Brett is just like, you know, I'm going to take you away.
Speaker: And he takes her away and then surprises her.

Speaker: That was the last episode.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: The sea plane.
Speaker: Also, we did finally understand more about like her stress.
Speaker: And I was glad that she explained it.
Speaker: And it's that she's having to explain this to every single one of her family members enough so that they will come around.
Speaker: She's expecting them to embrace Brett completely and
Speaker: see him the way she sees him and love him and I respect the shit out of that and I understand why it's stressful too

Speaker: I, I feel like a lot of this is, I mean, it's really, really important that we know about the family and we know about the expectations of the family and how the people are trying to handle the family because much of most of a wedding is dictated by your family.
Speaker: You know, you're you're going to have to rank like wrangle all these people who might not get along with each other, who have differing opinions, whose opinions like kind of depend on each other's opinion.
Speaker: You might have like a parent who doesn't like the other parent's choice.
Speaker: So if your mom likes your partner, your dad might hate them.
Speaker: or if your mom dad likes them their mom might hate them like there's so many things going on and behind the scenes that we just never hear about so it was nice to hear about tiffany and the stress that she was going through and and i was kind of thinking man brad you need to show up like and take her away and like you know make her de-stress and he kind of did he kind of showed up i heard i heard your advice through the ether josh i'm on it
Speaker: Yeah, and he then shows up and takes the way in.
Speaker: Also, I feel like you can see when he had those framed photos, he'd taken it for himself.
Speaker: It's like they're also having a lot of great experiences together off camera.

Speaker: Whereas like I don't think Micah and Paul are ever like bonding more getting know each other more.
Speaker: You never see progression when we check back in with them.
Speaker: But like Brad and Tiffany are actually like living their lives when they're not being filmed.
Speaker: Can we talk about just how tacky and artificial the whole ring making process was for Micah and Paul?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Also, just like, it's so obvious that Micah is just pretending to be into whatever Paul wants to be into.
Speaker: And like, she's not going to do this forever.
Speaker: It's kind of like Jackie, but she's keeping her mouth shut.
Speaker: Yeah, because she's good at this.
Speaker: But she plays the long game.
Speaker: Do you think if Irina had found Zach attractive, she would have played the game?
Speaker: Absolutely.

Speaker: Because like, if Zach had just happened to look like Paul, who she was attracted to, then yeah, she didn't care anything about Paul, but she just thought he was hot.
Speaker: She would have absolutely continued, you know, finagling her way into Paul's life if she had been able to.

Speaker: Also, it's part of why it's so hard for us to recognize when this manipulation is happening because people will do it for so long.
Speaker: It's hard to wrap your head around.
Speaker: People will spend years trying to win your trust when they're actually manipulating it.

Speaker: It makes no sense why anybody would do that, but they do.
Speaker: They do it all the time.

Speaker: So the thing I wanted to say about clothes is another dead-on autistic tale.
Speaker: Micah complains about Paul, I believe it is, that the way he picks out his clothes is he just wears whatever is on top.

Speaker: I have had multiple women who are married to autistic men who I know quite well complain to me about how their husband dresses like shit because he only just wears what's on top.
Speaker: And I also just wear what is on top.
Speaker: And this is an autistic trait.
Speaker: What does it mean, what is on top?
Speaker: Whatever's like, this shirt was on the top of my dresser drawer.
Speaker: When I opened the drawer, this shirt was on top.
Speaker: I put it on.
Speaker: Whatever's convenient, basically.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And you have like a few things you wear over and over again.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: My stepmom has been complaining about my dad's same three shirts he's been wearing for 30 years.
Speaker: And like if I have learned anything from many people talking to me about this, it's that none of us are going to change on this topic.
Speaker: Yeah, no, no.
Speaker: One of the things, and I know exactly why this happens, okay?
Speaker: It doesn't have to do with what you look like.
Speaker: What it has to do for me specifically is that I'm hypersensitive and I kind of don't want to feel the feeling of clothes on me.
Speaker: And every time you wear new clothes, they take a minute to like the feeling of you
Speaker: having them on you disappears after a few wearings you know you get used i mean it's way harder than that for me i frequently spend hours trying to figure out how to stand what my clothes feel like and changing them and thinking like no this isn't wrong i yeah i often have to pick up yeah i'm with you on that so
Speaker: But yeah, it's like we have some clothes.
Speaker: We know that we like these ones.
Speaker: And then we just keep them convenient.
Speaker: And then there they are.
Speaker: It's clean.
Speaker: But I have learned the only way to change your autistic loved one's habit in this way is to buy them some clothes that you like better that they also approve of and then put them on top and then we'll wear them.
Speaker: But we're not going to develop a sense of style just because you want us to.
Speaker: Yeah, it's just not going to happen.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Like people think I have one, but that's just because like I have like a career and I know how to like dress up for that at home.
Speaker: My gosh, I look like shit all the time.
Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Just this is this is please understand that I do know when I'm home, I'm like a little goblin.
Speaker: Also, it's like, how are people going to say, no, Paul doesn't seem neurodivergent.

Speaker: Like, we just wear what's on top.
