Hey, everybody. Sheena, Phil, and Marco here. I just wanted to take this moment at the top of the show to just recognize that so much has transpired since we recorded just a week ago. And we're here to talk about things that are so small in the grand scheme of what's really going on in the world. And our hope is to bring you just a little bit of light and entertainment into your lives. But it would be negligent of us not to acknowledge the current state of the nation, but we just want to assure our audience and those of you that
00:00:31
Speaker
to tune in to us every single week that we're here. We here at the Chick-fil-A show staying with people of color. We believe black lives matter and we will be an ally in the war on racism. So we hope you enjoy tonight's show.

Meet the Hosts

Speaker
week, another pay-per-view. Welcome to the Chick Foley Show. We have a lot to cover. And we are here live. Again, thank you guys for listening. Live from the Jimmy's Famous Seafood Studios, I am one of your hosts, Phil Gentile, the hot take kid. I have the lovely Sheena Phelps down in Norfolk, Virginia. Norfolk? Norfolk? Norfolk, yeah. That's Norfolk. Yeah, we're down here in Norfolk. And Marco Den up in Boston, Mass.
00:01:31
Speaker
What's going on? What's going on? Everyone out there. Not much, man. Uh, it's been, it's been quite a week.

Topics Overview

00:01:37
Speaker
Uh, we have quite a bit of stuff to talk about both in the ring, out of the ring, uh, WWE network changes, wrestling injuries and figure news. So this is going to be a jam pack show, uh, right off the top. Uh,
00:01:51
Speaker
A bunch of new listeners probably, and we saw it on last week's numbers from the guys at the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast shouting us out, and we want to welcome you guys listening if this is your first time. Welcome. What we do here is kind of talk about the week of wrestling between Raw, SmackDown, Pay-Per-Views, and all that kind of stuff. Second half of the

Episode Structure

00:02:09
Speaker
show is going to be all figure-related news, and that's actually going to be on a separate episode. We're going to break it up this week.
00:02:15
Speaker
So you can have one episode for basically in the ring coverage of what's going on between AEW and WWE NXT. Then we'll take a break and it'll be a separate recording for all of our figure news. The things we've purchased over the last week, some new releases and all that kind of stuff on a separate episode. So people seem to like that last week gives you two separate episodes to listen to every week. So yeah, that's where we are. How are you guys doing and what are you drinking more importantly?
00:02:43
Speaker
Um, I'm, I'm chill over here a little bit, a little bit on the tired side. It's just a mentally exhausting week, physically exhausting week, uh, with the kids and I am sipping on some Miller lights. I'm still working on that, that case that was courtesy of the inner circle that you guys sent me as a pick me up last week. So good stuff. Nice. I'm on a high noon number three. This one's a watermelon. I've been drinking the hell out of these, uh, the official drink of the high, the chick Foley show, Marco, what are you stepping on?
00:03:11
Speaker
I have a I'm drinking beer tonight. It's a double IPA. It's called it's a company here called Burlington Bear Company. The bear is called. It's kind of funny. It's it's called it's complicated being a wizard, which is kind of strange to the way of our cameras going. So you can actually measure if you could see the kind of it's like a little nice design. But yeah, I'm saving the high noons for tomorrow. So to be in the 90s. Oh, yeah. So in

Personal Updates

00:03:37
Speaker
the weather, some high noons are going to be glorious.
00:03:40
Speaker
Yeah, it's been a heat wave here on the East Coast. It was like 91 today, I believe. And I was like, holy freaking crap, man. So yeah. My mother-in-law is going to come out and visit again next week. So I'm pumped. I know I can get myself out. I'm going to make sure I stock up this time because I had never tried high noon the last time she was here. So I got a couple of four packs. But now that I know it's the business, I'm going to stock up so that I have it until I'm stocked up until Seth gets home. You know what I mean?
00:04:09
Speaker
That's a way to do it. What was I going to say? We are trying out some Skype video. Maybe we're going to move to Teams. But we're playing around with some video here along with audio. It is just for our benefit right now. But we're thinking about maybe doing some sort of Patreon thing where we'll be live and you guys can chat with us. We're just kind of playing around with some video. So if you hear a little bit of a delay or we're sounding funny, it's because we're also looking at each other here at the same time, which I think will be good.
00:04:36
Speaker
Let's get the housekeeping stuff out of the way here. We have some shirts

00:05:17
Speaker
and give us a nice five-star review. It takes like five seconds and also patreon.com slash chick foley show or chick foley show dot com Sheena. Tell them what's going on over there lately.
00:05:32
Speaker
Oh man, we

Live Sales Discussion

00:05:33
Speaker
just have, um, like we talked about a couple of weeks ago, we've had some live claim sales. We actually had, um, one of our members unload like a complete set of the Tonka wrestling buddies. And I mean, my, my jaw was on the floor. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Um, when he unloaded, he gave our members some really good, uh, some good prices so they didn't have to like get them on eBay because I don't know if you guys have checked the prices on wrestling buddies lately, but damn, I wish. Yeah.
00:05:59
Speaker
Yeah, I wish like I knew back then what I know now about the prices of wrestling buddies because I mean, I thought they were expensive before when they were like, oh, it's like 80 bucks for out for, you know, 10 or for million dollar man. I'm like, oh, God, what was I do it? You know, those things.
00:06:17
Speaker
So yeah, we have our Facebook group. We have about 160 folks in there buying and selling and trading figures. Myself, Marco, and our buddy Shane are doing weekly articles on the website. Like Sheena said, live claim sales, monthly giveaways. I'm gonna do a unboxing video this weekend with my son of the new Fiend elite that just arrived today from Ringside Collectibles. And on Sunday, we're gonna do a Discord chat. This is kind of a chatting app that we use.
00:06:44
Speaker
during pay-per-views to kind of like just stay in touch with all of our members and it's really fun we get to just kind of talk in real time as the pay-per-viewer is going on so a lot of stuff going on check it out chickfullyshow.com starts at a dollar per month and really if you listen to our podcast
00:07:00
Speaker
A lot of patrons just have, you know, you just give money to support the show. We like to give back, give bonus episodes, and do all this kind of free, cool content. So definitely check it out, chickfolyshow.com. Let's get into the news of the week, and I guess we can start with SmackDown, because that's the furthest away, and we'll work our way up to now. I've watched SmackDown this week, guys.
00:07:26
Speaker
Wow. Aren't you proud of me? Was your wife shocked when you were sitting on the couch on Friday night? What are you doing, Phil? She was asleep. She fell asleep at 9 o'clock. So then I had a recording on the little sling. So I almost turned it off after the first skit with the drunk driving Jeff Hardy skit. But I powered through. What did you guys think of that? In poor taste and good taste, was it well done?
00:07:55
Speaker
I mean, it has never stopped WWE before, but my theory is I never like to put anybody's personal demons on blast, especially somebody's demons that we don't know are healed yet. You know what I mean? We are still not that far out from his last
00:08:15
Speaker
Drinking incident where he was arrested and all that kind of stuff. So I just think I mean obviously I think it's in poor taste I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I I hit you guys up in the messenger and I was like what is happening because I got that I had to watch it like the day after I said they're really using a drunk driving angle with with Jeff Hardy and of course Marco or sure me that it was a swerve but
00:08:36
Speaker
Yeah, I I don't think that you should, especially stuff like that, that is like actually impacts people's families and stuff like that, like spraying it across the screen. But, hey, WWE has done it countless times. I'm surprised by nothing nowadays. Exactly. Yeah. At first, when I seen it, I kind of like I didn't see the full beginning of SmackDown last week. So I just seen Renee Young doing the reporting like, oh, they just took Jeff Hardy. They arrested him and all seven allies is on the stretch.
00:09:06
Speaker
The hell is going on right now that I see the crash car and I see reaction. I was like, oh, my God, what the hell? They go on this road. But then obviously you see the swerve at the end. In my mind, I'm thinking he OK'd it. I don't think they would do it without his consent. But I mean, anyway, yeah, OK, it was like 100 percent or was it just like going along with things? Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's if you see those like vignettes he was doing before he like actually showed up on Smackdown and it's like Jeff Hardy's redemption and he's talking about like
00:09:35
Speaker
him going through rehab and also so like with that stuff you usually you know you're okay with things and you know it's something that's hopefully in his past and just passing off where they let it be on TV for a little bit they didn't go too deep into is just like a the setting it set up the episode yeah my thing about that is is like that that kind of segment really has the potential to age poorly it's already done in poor taste
00:10:00
Speaker
but God forbid something actually ever happened to Jeff Hardy in a, you know, drinking incident or drinking and driving incident. Like that segment is going to like live an infamy. Like they're going to go back and play. Oh yeah. Well, WWE was just like making fun of him drinking and driving. They thought it was so fun instead of actually trying to get him help. And I'm certain that they, they,
00:10:20
Speaker
tried to get in help and all those things. I'm not accusing WWE of not doing that, but like I said, it's just not gonna age well in the eyes of the public if something were to ever actually go down. There were two parts I really liked. When the cop looked in the car and there was a full beer that hadn't even been drank yet.
00:10:41
Speaker
And he saw the car was like a rental car for Jeff Hardy and the cop just yells out, Jeff Hardy? It was like a fast food place. I don't think cops do that. They just, oh, that's me. Yeah. Okay. That's my order. And then Ron Stroman, I guess supposedly was like an eyewitness to everything. And Renee Young interviewed him and he knew no details of anything that happened. He didn't know who did it or what happened.
00:11:05
Speaker
just some guy get out of the corner. I thought you saw the whole thing happen, dude. You don't know the people that work with you. Yeah, if a crime ever happens, I do not want Brian to be the eyewitness for me. I need somebody else who's paying closer attention. Elias and Jeff Hardy were out of the Intercontinental Tournament. We saw Daniel Bryan defeat Seamus to move on and face AJ Styles. I guess that's next week at Backlash, right?
00:11:34
Speaker
So my boy Seamus loses in defeat. After he called Jeff Hardy a junkie, he said he's just a dirty junkie or something like that. I was like, ouch, man. They already did the segment and now you just add an insult to injury.
00:11:53
Speaker
Well, I'm excited about Daniel Bryan versus AJ Styles. Obviously, we'll talk about that when we preview Backlash next week. But I mean, if anything, that should be a hell of a match. And at least it'll put some shine on the intercontinental title. I mean, I don't know who you guys are looking forward to. Hopefully. But I would love to see AJ run with that title for a while. He's never held it. And it would make sense because they moved him over from Raw. So that seems to be the favorite in my eyes.
00:12:18
Speaker
Yeah, I'm always I'm always for AJ. I feel like AJ legitimizes things. He's a really great heel. You know, he does really great Mike work. I love I mean, I'm a huge Daniel Bryan fan. You guys know that about me. But I do think I would prefer to see AJ Styles carry the intercontinental title for a little while.
00:12:36
Speaker
Anything else from SmackDown? Before I move on, there was a couple other matches, but really nothing that moves the needle for me. Yeah, I mean, we talked that we're in the outside of the ring, but we may as well talk about it while we're here on SmackDown is that they had like a tag team championship summit with the New Day and Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.
00:12:57
Speaker
And we saw that the New Day were actually wearing shad armbands and Alexa and Nikki were wearing Hannah armbands, which I thought was a good look, you know, especially considering like WWE doesn't normally go out of their way to memorialize like people from other companies and things like that, just because I mean, you know, that's not their audience or whatever. But I thought it was a good look for them to, you know, show their show their respects and pay their respects and stuff.
00:13:23
Speaker
For sure. Yeah, and I'm hoping that the... Are they defending the women's tag team titles on both brands? Like, or just...
00:13:33
Speaker
You know, that's a good question now that I had something I hadn't even considered until you just brought that up because yeah I would assume that that that they always have to do the tag titles on both like for the women they have to do the tag titles across brands But because it's not hard now like I mean, I feel like they haven't been on both brands since this all started have they? No, they have been cuz uh, they they face like the icon X on raw and
00:13:58
Speaker
And then they're facing Bailey and Sasha this Friday. Oh, that's right. Yeah, so they have been on both brands. They haven't been on NXT, which would be hard because it's all from the same place. But that would at least give you some extra eyeballs maybe.
00:14:15
Speaker
Do we even have any chick tag teams in NXT at the moment? I don't think so. We got Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez maybe? I don't know. That's the only thing that comes to my mind. But I don't think they're really a tag team. But there's so many good female stars down there. That could be a good way to get some of them on TV.
00:14:36
Speaker
Another thing that happened on SmackDown, to me, obviously this was not a match, but what did you guys think about the Otis and Mandy segment? That was a little bit... Oh my God, thank you for bringing this up. I almost glanced over this. Oh my gosh. It had a reference from Fast Times and Ridgemont High. That movie came out when I was two years old. That was a pretty poignant reference.
00:15:02
Speaker
Oh, my gosh. Yeah. There hasn't been any movie since then that they could they could spin off of. But I did like Mandy Rose having like a sex dream about Otis getting out of the pool. That was pretty good. You know, that was Zack Ryder's pool. Did you hear that on the episode? Oh, no, no, I didn't. Yeah, I'm behind on Major Rose. But yeah, that's that's pretty I know. Oh, no. There's not enough time in the day. I'm trying to read books and listen to all my podcasts.
00:15:32
Speaker
Um, but yeah, I thought it was really funny. And can we just acknowledge that like that they are the most awkward kissers of any WWE kissers? I mean, and I mean, they were going for it. I mean, there was like legitimate tongue in there, but it was like, you know how when you kiss someone, like,
00:15:49
Speaker
your your mouths typically like move at the same like time right like they were so off it was like it was it was so ridiculous looking um and i mean i'm all for this whole mandy and otis angle i think it's actually pretty cute but yeah they gotta get there if they're gonna like actually go for it and kiss on screen they gotta get their shit together because it totally ruined the vibe for me
00:16:09
Speaker
Yeah, supposedly, uh, Chelsea Green got a call from somebody and they wanted to use their pool and Zach Ryder was all pissed off, which I, you know, you know, they just get fired by the company and now you're, you know, trying to, trying to use this pool. Like, no, there's like a million pools in the fucking Florida, but.
00:16:24
Speaker
When you said that, it didn't even occur to me that Zach was fired. Me either. Yeah, me either. Now that you say that, yeah, I would have been like, screw you, dude. You're not using my pool. You know what I mean? Hell no. Oh my gosh, that's so funny. Because yeah, I was just thinking, oh yeah, of course they use Zach's pool. But then I'm like, oh no, of course. He doesn't work there anymore.
00:16:46
Speaker
All right, over on Raw on Monday, we saw Seth Rollins kicking off the show with this retirement ceremony for Rey Mysterio. Man, I think this might be Seth's best role as a heel. He seems to be getting better and better every single week with this.
00:17:03
Speaker
Uh, interrupted by Alistair black. They have a great match. What do you, what do you think about all this and where this is going? Um, we touched on a little bit last week where Marco picked Dominic to, to kind of turn heel and join Seth Rollins. And we, we got a little kind of taste of it this week, but not really. Well, I think I definitely think that's the, that's the angle that they're going with, because I don't know if you got to tune into the new, uh, raw talk that is coming back, but, um,
00:17:29
Speaker
Seth was in the middle of the ring with Charlie, I think, is who's hosting that.
00:17:34
Speaker
He was talking about Dominic and he's like, Dominic, you know, needs a leader that can guide him. You know, and he's like, I know who that I know who that leader could be. You know, so I mean, it's definitely going that way. Obviously, it's as of right now, you know, Dominic's got raised back. But I mean, that's going to be like the ultimate score whenever Dominic, you know, turns turns on his dad. But Rollins and Alistair Black had a freaking phenomenal match. So if you're going to go back and watch any one thing from Raw this past week, definitely check out
00:18:04
Speaker
Rollins versus Aleister Black and it's really sad and unfortunate because you know with everything that's going on in the world right now I don't know how many people were actually sitting down watching raw on Monday night I'm like I feel like a lot of people probably missed that match So if you're listening to this and you weren't able to watch raw or you didn't watch raw It's it's worth your time to go back and check that out
00:18:23
Speaker
What is not worth going back and checking out is the Viking Raiders defeating the Street Profits in the game of bowling. Mainly because the Street Profits, apparently Marco didn't know what bowling was until they did rock and bowling. But more importantly, I want to ask any good memories from, I don't know if they call it rock and bowling where you guys live.
00:18:43
Speaker
But that was like the cool thing to do when you're like 14 or 15 like on Friday or Saturday nights Like you'd go to bowling and they turn all the lights off and like play like black light. Yeah. Yeah black light bowling I think yeah, I think it was called black light bowling when I was When I was a kid, but yeah, it was just you know bowling I always have that very like specific smell
00:19:04
Speaker
Oh, yeah. It's a bowling alley smell. It smells like fried food and feet. And it's very distinct. I don't know. I haven't been bowling. I'm not really great at bowling. I suck. I do like it, but I suck at bowling. Yeah. I enjoy doing it, but I really enjoy it for the drinking aspect of it and just fucking around. Marco, your thoughts on bowling? I haven't been bowling in a while, actually. But I enjoy it.
00:19:34
Speaker
I just don't enjoy watching it as a contest on wrestling. I don't know where they're going with this. Like what, what is the ultimate goal for this? You know, I know, I know. It's a decathlon. That's the, that's the end contest. They said that they're going to do other on raw, well, on raw talk, they said, uh, the last thing they're going to do is a decathlon. So that's how they're going to decide who the better, however they call it. Was it the better?
00:20:00
Speaker
The better whatever I can do, you can do better challenger. It's called decathlon. That's what the next thing is. Wouldn't it be more entertaining to actually play these games and then put them on like the network? I wouldn't mind seeing them bowl against each other or like, you know, do something different, like turn it into a show, like, you know, have them like doing like a hot dog eating contest or, you know, beer pong or like, you know, every week, like the four of them play something and see who wins and like keep tally like that would be cool.
00:20:29
Speaker
Yeah, I'm totally I'm totally for that. It's just it's just so jarring when it's on wrestling because, you know, it just doesn't fit. First of all, these two tag teams together are like very there's a stark contrast between the Viking Raiders and the street profits. Right. And then and I mean, it really makes me sad because
00:20:49
Speaker
Both of these tag teams have major potential to be very, very, very good, serious tag teams. And this is what they've got them doing. So if you've ever doubted that WWE does not give a single shit about tag team wrestling, this should be your giant red flag.
00:21:09
Speaker
Exhibit A, yeah. And as far as, back to bowling real quick, after this pandemic is over, I think a bowling alley might be my least favorite place to go. As much as I like going bowling and drinking, putting on other people's shoes and sticking your fingers at bowling balls. Oh, other people's bowling balls? Oh yeah, I didn't even think about that. Yeah.
00:21:30
Speaker
Probably not going to be taking a trip to the bowling alley anytime soon. Man. Other than that riveting game. Did you like the turkey leg coming out of the ball ridge? Oh my god. I do like... Did you ever see the other guys with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg?
00:21:48
Speaker
You definitely need to watch it, Gina. It's funny as shit. It's like a buddy cop comedy. But all these hot chicks are like, you know, Will Ferrell plays this really dorky, like, by the book, you know, sits at a desk kind of detective guy. And they do all these like missions and shit and all these hot, like,
00:22:08
Speaker
supermodel chicks are like all about him and just totally ignore Mark Wahlberg the whole time. It's like a running joke for the whole movie. So it is kind of funny like you know I don't know if it's Ivar or the other asshole but I just like that you know one of them like they look exactly the same but for some reason chicks like the one over the other.
00:22:27
Speaker
I wonder, yeah, which one is it that the chicks like? It's not Sarah's husband, right? I don't even know. I'd be like backed up. Well, she's gone too, isn't she? She's awful. Yeah. Yeah. We saw Rob Gronkowski losing the 24 seven championship. I can't believe the 24 seven championship is still going on. This is unbelievable.
00:22:51
Speaker
Yeah, I can't believe it's still going on either. And I definitely can't believe that Rob Gronkowski, his awkward dancing, I mean, he's like one of the best like tight ends in the, like in the NFL history. Right. But I mean, he, his skills to make a tick tock video were like the most obscene thing I've ever seen in my life. It was.
00:23:11
Speaker
It was offensive. He is like a, uh, like a, I don't know, like a bear on roller skates. Yeah. It was, it was so awkward and so awful. And then, you know, of course our truth rolls him up pretending he's the gardener. Um, I don't know. Well, I don't know what's going to happen after like, who's going to come for the 24 seven title after this, but.
00:23:34
Speaker
Oh man. But yeah, apparently he asked for his, uh, Robert and Kelsey asked for his release because he's coming back to the NFL. Um, I don't, he can't, he has a no compete clause. So it's not like he can just like show up at AEW or, you know, anywhere else. You can show up there if you want to. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. Um, they wouldn't, they wouldn't even notice he was in the audience. It's just like a who's.
00:23:57
Speaker
The big news of the week is the Nia Jax, I'll say storyline continues after throwing Kyrie Sane into some metal steel steps and getting the win. It's furthering the storyline that she's unsafe and people on Twitter are just reacting like you've never watched wrestling before. And I think you two almost bought in too. Do you think this is real?
00:24:27
Speaker
I mean, it's definitely real. Did you not see the pictures of her head like flayed open? I mean, it was any was there any blood in the ring or anything after that happened? Well, they edited it all out because they they prerecorded all this. So it was it was edited like because apparently once it happened.
00:24:44
Speaker
the match
00:25:01
Speaker
The sad thing is, I mean, I agree. I think Naya is an unsafe worker. Um, you know, I don't want her to be, I don't know. I'm not calling her ahead. I don't want anybody to lose their job. Um, I'm sure she's a really nice person in real life. This is not personal, but her history has shown that she's not very safe. And now people are saying like, I saw some people trying to deflect it on, on Kyrie, which it is a little bit of Kyrie's fault. Like maybe she should have put her hands up, you know, and not just like went headfirst right into the stairs as hard as she could.
00:25:31
Speaker
but also she's 90 pounds soaking wet and she's getting like flung. You know what I mean? Like maybe the reaction time wasn't what she anticipated. Cause I mean, Nia just like chuck the hell out of her into those steps. Yeah, it definitely didn't look, you know, it looked like it could really hurt, but I feel like they've on social media and Nia Jax has played this up as much as she can.
00:25:52
Speaker
I don't I mean I know she punched Becky during that melee before survivors before you know the kickoff of the man thing and delayed her to kind of fight with Rhonda and all that stuff but I mean there's been some things here and there where you know I think it's always been with Kyrie Sane like yeah I think of anything where who else is she hurt
00:26:11
Speaker
Bailey, um, she hurt. She put Bailey on the shelf for a little while. Who else? We discussed this last week. Um, yeah, Bailey, Charlotte, she injured. Yeah. Uh, Becky, besides those four, besides the four horse women, the most popular, you know, yeah, you seen a connection here. Yeah. Yeah. Trying to get rid of the four. I think it was, um, uh, Sasha bang say he brought up to,
00:26:39
Speaker
Um, I think I mentioned it too. She botched the crap out of a move, you know, I won't say killed Sasha Banks as well. So, I mean,
00:26:48
Speaker
It's happening and it's a it's an actual thing She didn't catch she didn't catch charlotte in the in a moonsault once and then she did that like the Shoulder move like shoulder block or whatever. It's called not shoulder block. Um, I don't know what the move's called But yeah, instead of hitting her shoulder on her knee She hit her head on her knee and like could have broken charlotte's neck um, so yeah, I mean she's just
00:27:10
Speaker
she's just not very safe. Like when she does like her like Samoan drop thing, like it all, it makes me nervous every freaking time. I'm like, she's going to kill someone. She's going to kill someone. I mean, I'm definitely not a night jacks fan. I don't think, you know, I don't think she's good. Yeah. A good wrestler, but I do think they're using this to play it up. So we'll see. I think she's using it. I don't think, I don't think there, I think she's.
00:27:31
Speaker
played it up in social media, like I heard people. Well, they panned the people in the crowd, like, you know, they panned the people in the crowd, like, oohing and ahing about, you know, as soon as it happened, like, you know. I know, but I mean, you would think if it was a storyline, Michael Cole would be saying, like, Nia Jax, the most unsafe worker in WWE, he would say that like 37 times. So, I mean, I definitely don't think it's something that WWE is playing up, but I think she's just trying to create, like, actual heat for herself. When in reality, she just needs to
00:28:01
Speaker
Be fucking more safe, you know
00:28:03
Speaker
All right, here we go. AW, everybody. OK, we're ready. Oh, you gave all your positive energy last week? No, no, this was actually probably a better episode than last week. It was a very, well, I mean, they lost like 100,000 viewers in the ratings. I don't know if you saw the ratings, not that we really care about ratings here. But they narrowly beat out NXT, but they actually dropped 100,000 viewers from last week to this week. But I thought it was a pretty good episode. I mean, it flowed really well. They had some nice vignettes here and there.
00:28:33
Speaker
I thought they, I thought they, I thought it was pretty, um, in the ratings, I think, um, AEW ranked like 25 in their category and NXT ranked like 49 in the category. Yeah. Neither of them good. That's, that's for sure. It was, uh, I mean, NXT was definitely way farther down than, than HW. But, um,
00:28:51
Speaker
And it was just sad, because that was the go-home show for a pay-per-view. You know what I mean? So that's kind of upsetting and kind of telling. But yeah, there was some really fun moments on AEW. What were some of your favorites, Marco?
00:29:06
Speaker
I love Jericho Colano Tyson again. That was pretty good. And then Orange Cassidy coming out instead of... Oh my gosh. That was so good. I like how he took Jericho's hands and like stuck them in his belt, you know? Yeah, he's a national treasure, that guy. If it's something that I love about AW, it's definitely Orange Cassidy. That's probably my favorite thing that they have right now is he's just great.
00:29:33
Speaker
He's great. I can't understand it. He's proven that he can actually like wrestle in the ring. You know, I mean beforehand it was like, you know, we never knew like, can this guy actually go? But he's proven that, but even still his like orange shtick is like so amazing and I don't understand it. I don't get it. I don't know why I like it.
00:29:50
Speaker
But I like it. I love everything that he does. I just pop for everything that Orange does. Yeah, it's so different than anything else out there. I think it's a nice welcome change. I love the Britt Baker training montage. I was just watching it before we started. Oh my gosh.
00:30:05
Speaker
She is a national treasure. That is probably my favorite thing that is happening right now is Britt Baker in the wheelchair being like the Michael Scott of AEW when he like burned his foot in the George Foreman grill. You know what I mean? Like she's having- I like baking in the morning, sue me. Yeah, I like to wake up to the smell of crackling bacon.
00:30:27
Speaker
That was good. You talked about the Rollins, Aleister Black match, I think. Between that and Cody and Jungle Boy for the best match of the week. I didn't watch NXT, full disclosure, but those two matches were probably the two best wrestling matches of the week. We do have a couple of nitpicks. We were talking during the match. Marco, Cody bleeding after every match.
00:30:52
Speaker
What's the deal? What's the deal? Overkill. Overkill. Come on. He's definitely bleeding, right? I mean, this can't be a coincidence. Yeah. I mean, I know bleeding is a roads trait, but can we make it special at least? Let's just save it for big moments. Yeah, exactly. You can see what he did it. Well, you can't see him do it, but you can see the part where he did it. They were outside of the ring, and I think
00:31:21
Speaker
Jungle boy through into like one of the other ends of the barricades and then jungle boy gets into it with MJF And then they cut back to Cody and he's bleeding so that's so he hit his head on the barricade and or on the metal grate and he started bleeding but I Once I see it. I was like, that's not necessary. He doesn't have to do that at all. There's no need for it you don't have to prove to such a
00:31:48
Speaker
got to bleed, and blood's got a chance for the company. We get it. Yeah, we know you're human. OK, we know you have blood in there. You don't have to show us every week that you have blood running through your veins. So Marco had a nit to pick with that. I have a nit to pick with Brandy coming down. I mean, Brandy can't. She's worse than Stephanie.
00:32:08
Speaker
She can't go a single pay-per-view or show without coming down for no reason or being at ringside and no purpose at all. No storyline, nothing. She loves to be on camera, man. That is one thing about Brandy. She has that influencer mentality where she's going to be on camera doing something.
00:32:27
Speaker
all the time, you know? I do have a question about Kenny Omega, a pretty good match, but Kenny Omega and Hangman Page defending the tag team belts against Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc. I mean, there's so many good tag teams in AEW, and that's all we hear about is how they are serious about tag team wrestling. They have four singles guys fighting for the tag team titles. It was kind of confusing.
00:32:53
Speaker
I do like the Moxley promo with Brian Cage and building that matchup and Taz basically becoming Paul Heyman 2.0 and I mean that in a good way, not a bad way. He's a good mouthpiece for him. I don't know much about this Brian Cage guy, but I don't know if he's really spoken yet. He hasn't really cut a promo, has he? He's had Taz the whole time, right?
00:33:17
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, his first match was that poker chip on a wall or whatever. Oh yeah, that's right, poker chip on a pole match. But yeah, he definitely needs that, you know what I mean? I know they're kind of like setting him up as like this unbeatable force, but I loved Moxley's promo back at him, just kind of like being like, dude,
00:33:37
Speaker
you're telling me you're gonna give me like the fight of my life like that's what I want to hear like I'm so I'm so stoked you know so I really am they've made me excited to see this match I'm excited to see what Brian Cage can actually do in a real match that's not a poker chip on a pole Marco what do you what do you think about fighter fest being
00:33:55
Speaker
on TNT, a regular, you know, just kind of replacing dynamite and being over a two week, you know, being a two day thing. So over two weeks, what, you know, I'm, I'm kind of wishy washy on. I feel like it doesn't make it very special. What do you think? Yeah, same here. It's kind of like when they did that, that bash at the beach type show, I could have definitely got a pay-per-view, missed opportunity in that sense. Yeah. I mean,
00:34:21
Speaker
They could they could probably do that show in one night. I don't think that to spread it out to two weeks. I think you'll just forget the first week when the second week comes out because you're going to be like, oh, is this another dynamite? Oh, wait, no, it isn't a dynamite episode. It's a fighter fest part two, whatever. Yeah. So I don't know. It's not like a special event. Not to like equal to media, but it's not like a show where you have to spread it out that long where it's oh, I have to see next week. I get to see what I see what happens at the fighter fest when it was free.
00:34:50
Speaker
on pay-per-view last year. Yeah. Just make it a little bit special. I mean, that's the whole thing. So like I was telling you guys before we started recording, they can't make it. So what they're basically telling us is they can't give us a weekly episode of Dynamite and give us a specialized show on like a Friday or Saturday or Sunday or something. You know what I mean? Like give us Fighter Fest.
00:35:11
Speaker
They had it on a weekend last year, right? It was its own, it was its own pay-per-view. It was kind of like Clash of the Champions. It was on TV, but it didn't cost anything.
00:35:23
Speaker
Yeah. Wasn't it like a partnership with somebody? Didn't they donate to some sort of organization or something when they did it last year? I can't remember. But I feel like it had some sort of charity factor to it. I don't know if they're doing that. Oh, I think it was the Orlando club shooting or something.
00:35:47
Speaker
I might be wrong. I don't know. It was it was a good journey, whatever it was. It was something. Yeah, it was it was in partnership with the CEO, that fighting game. I think Kenny Omega is a gamer and that was like his that's his gaming event that he does now. So it was it was like a it was CEO. Oh, no. And they did that type of thing. I'm wrong. I'm thinking of Fight for the Fallen. Oh, yeah. Fight for the Fallen was the donation thing for the. Yeah.
00:36:15
Speaker
okay that's what i was thinking yeah yeah not fighter fest fight for the fall yeah fight for the for the other fight pay-per-view you're talking about i don't know i don't know how i got those just fighting forever pay-per-view that one yeah but yeah to answer your question to get back to the point um i i don't think it's a good look to do it on dynamite i think it just makes it not special at all you know like you're not gonna
00:36:38
Speaker
anything other than just give us our regular weekly show you know give us a little give us a little something extra this is a we're in the middle of a pandemic and a lot of.
00:36:46
Speaker
heavy shit in the world right now, like give us something. Give us what we want. True. Yeah, I did not. Well, I watched the FTR interview. I didn't listen to it at the volume down here while we're about to record anything monumental said there. I mean, those guys were always a pretty decent interview. I'm interested to see what they do as faces. I mean, they weren't heels for their entire WWE run. It doesn't seem like they're going to be
00:37:15
Speaker
faces at all. Uh, seems like they're still going to be heels. Um, just judging by the promo that they cut. Um, they mainly talked about like, you know, the other tag teams and then they're like bigging up, like, you know, private party and all these guys have been 24 Siobhan. He's like, Oh, what about, uh, what about the young bucks? You know, they're like, they're like, isn't that kind of like a dream match? You're like, no, that's not a dream match. So they kind of like, you know, just shit on the, yeah, downplay. They're like, no, we don't really care. He was like, we pretty much want to punch him in the face when we see him.
00:37:44
Speaker
We don't want to wrestle them at all. So they're showing like that. They just helped them up last week, didn't they? Uh, yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't super friendly though. It was definitely, it was definitely like a show of respect kind of thing. You know what I mean? Like it wasn't, it wasn't like, Hey, we're buddies. You know, it was just like, Hey, it was more of like a, Hey, we're here. Just, we're just putting you on notice that, you know, yeah, we're here. And, uh, and then they got into it with, uh,
00:38:12
Speaker
the butcher and the blade showing up at their interview and it was a little like, not a brawl, brawl didn't happen, just a little tussle happened there and people got in between, so it didn't end in a brawl, like it didn't prior week, so it's always a good thing. I guess they're not gonna be the revolt, I guess they're just gonna be FTR as their tag team, because that's what they were promoted as on the show. They dropped the revolt? I guess so, I mean they didn't call on that at all on the show, it was just FTR. Yeah, they called it FTR,
00:38:40
Speaker
the fifth
00:39:01
Speaker
which that's what I thought it was, but it probably isn't. It is supposed to be. All right. And yeah, Cody, great match. I like the open challenge idea. I don't like, I just finally saw the preview, the promo from last week where he said he was doing something that no one's ever done before and did an open challenge. Like that's, WWE has done that like 15 times in the last like couple of years with Cena. Yeah. Especially, especially with their mid, their mid card title. I mean, it's a good idea. Cause I mean, that's, that's what you want.
00:39:29
Speaker
Yeah, I love an open challenge, but I just, I think it's funny that they're like, we're going to do things differently. And then all of a sudden it's like, well, I'm having an open challenge for that. I'm going to, you know, step it up a pace, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, okay, bro. Like, where did you get that idea? Um, but what about this freaking big swole chick? Where's she been? Who is this? I don't know.
00:39:48
Speaker
Well, see, you know, you guys know I don't get to watch AEW every week, but I was like, Oh, who is this? Who is this? I'm interested. I'm into it. Yeah, she's good. She's been a ringside for the last three or four weeks, Marco, and she's a good shit talker. That's why she's, uh, you know, uh, she's, she's been kind of like playing the part of the crowd, but she's, you know, she's, she's been around. She hasn't, hasn't had a title match or anything, but uh, you know, she's, she's pretty talented. Her and Britt Baker had a little
00:40:13
Speaker
I saw that, yeah. A while ago, but, you know, yeah, they got some talent here and there. The one good thing about that first opening tag team match was Penelope Ford ringside with Kip Sabian. I'm becoming a huge fan of Penelope Ford. She ain't got shit on Scarlett. No, no, no, you're right. Scarlett is number one in that department, but as far as AEW ladies go, Penelope Ford's pretty high up there.
00:40:41
Speaker
Yeah, Penelope. She's really great in the ring, too. She is. She's good. Yeah. Yeah. So Big Swole is actually married to a WWE guy. Can you guys guess who that is? I know. I know. I don't know. I do not know. I do not know if she married to shit. I don't know. I don't even want to guess who she's married to. One one half of said ricochet.
00:41:08
Speaker
Cedric Alexander. Cedric Alexander, yeah.
00:41:12
Speaker
I was like, I don't think ricochets married. You know, he's a cat. Whatever her name is. Cat Catanzaro. While we're on the subject, while we're on the subject, not to not to interrupt, but I found out who that was and Tony Storm's Instagram. Oh, OK, so if you guys haven't seen it. Yeah, Marco. Marco was heartbroken this evening when Tony Storm posted a picture of her lovingly in the arms of a big brutish male figure. Yeah, he was.
00:41:41
Speaker
Yeah. Marco was a little bit dejected. Yeah. But she didn't tag him. So we were all just assuming. I was like, yeah, she just, she just doesn't want other chicks like up on his Instagram page. I wouldn't tag him either. You know what I mean? Um, but Phil has done the, the sleuth work and figured out who it is. So who is it? It's former NXT jobber CJ Parker turned a new Japan standout juice Robinson.
00:42:08
Speaker
Oh, yeah, he did kind of look familiar, OK. Yeah, he did. I knew he was a wrestler. I think wrestlers only date wrestlers now. I mean, that's like, I mean, that's the case most times when you're in a job where you're traveling, you know, 250 days a year, you know, makes sense. That's right. Yeah, he wasn't our wage, too. So C.J. Parker is a Baywatch character just for the record. Did you guys know that? Wait, wait, maybe isn't C.J. Maybe isn't C.J. Parker.
00:42:38
Speaker
Uh, I mean, CJ Parker is a CJ. No, you're right. They're the same people. CJ Parker was his name. He was like a, like a hippie. And yeah, CJ Parker is wow. The, the definition of my formative 13 through 15, uh, teenage years. Oh yeah, it is. It is CJ Parker Robinson. Yeah. So interesting. Yeah. I mean, I mean, John Moxie did beat him for the U S die WGP.
00:43:07
Speaker
US title. So I mean, he's not that great anyway. Or he would have kept the title or beat Jon Moxley. So yeah, this guy, this guy, I hate, I hate freaking, um, I hate juice wrong. I think he's the worst juice who names themselves juice. Yeah. Yeah. You're way, but you're way better than that guy, Marco. Oh, thank you.
00:43:30
Speaker
The MVP, cool name, not juice. Let's get into NXT. Can we do this in less than a minute? Then we'll get into a NXT takeover in your house. This is the go home episode. And, uh, tell me what happened here, Marco. Um, there was a lot. Actually, uh, we had, we see the return of our Breezonga, which is pretty cool. They were.
00:43:52
Speaker
Yeah. Astronaut space outfits, which is pretty awesome. And they won their number one contender. It was a, it was a three way to be the number one contender for the NXT tag titles. And they actually beat the undisputed era. Uh, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan, which is pretty impressive in my eyes that they beat those two tag teams that have been like running rampant through NXT.
00:44:12
Speaker
Um, what else do we see? We see, we saw, we saw a tag team match between the Gargano's and the, the, the Yimley's. Yeah. The Yimley's. That's right. Yeah. That sounds like a badass restaurant. The Yimley's. Yeah. The Yimley's. Yeah. Uh, the Gargano's won. They're victorious over the Yimley's. Um, setting up the stage for this weekend, obviously that I, in your house, um,
00:44:39
Speaker
Obviously, we're gonna skip right to the end. We get to the I can never say his name, right? Oh Fantastic defeated Drake Maverick with the NXT Cruiserweight title. Yeah, so it was hard-broken viewer chain his name. I
00:44:59
Speaker
He was he was all broken up crying He gets to the top of the ramp, you know, he's doing like his like, you know exit strategies like swan song and then all of a sudden Triple H shows up with a with an xt contract, you know You get the point photo, too You haven't been an xe unless you get the point photo for the whole trips and
00:45:25
Speaker
Yeah. At Access, they need to make sure that they have a standee, like one of those cardboard standees. Oh, I can't wait to do that. Of Triple H, just with the pointing. It's like very naturally. Yeah. I mean, I know they have the in-ring Triple H, where he's flexing and doing all the things. They have those things standing around access. Yeah. But they need to have a photo op, where you can just get Triple H to point at you.
00:45:49
Speaker
Do you know there was a picture of him at the actual Triple H pointing to a standee of the pointing Triple H? No. Yes. Search for that.
00:46:02
Speaker
The funniest thing I see was when they were doing the 25 year thing and all the promos of him were him now pointing to himself when he was younger when he was like. But they were actually doing that, like WWE made those photos and I thought, I was like, I think, is this where, I was like, did someone make this? And like, sure enough, you go on WWE.com and they were highlighting the SmackDown episode with the 25 year anniversary and it's him pointing at himself at a younger. It's just hilarious. You know, he's just like,
00:46:32
Speaker
I do, he just doesn't take himself too seriously nowadays. Anyways, it's like, yeah, whatever. I point at stuff all the time. It's whatever. I'm just going to point at my younger self and, you know, it looks really good. He's going to be a big shot. Yeah, it's definitely his shtick now. So. Yeah.
00:46:48
Speaker
I'm the one wondering about El Himo del Fantasma. He was on Lucia Underground for four or five seasons as King Cuerno. If I ever lose my job, hopefully it doesn't happen, we'll be doing some Patreon deep dives on Lucia Underground. We'll go back and watch every single episode. I don't have the time to do that now, but I would definitely
00:47:10
Speaker
I would definitely love to do that between me and Marco and Mike doing the Raw reviews and this show and you know trying to raise a five-year-old I don't have the time but if you've never watched Lucha Underground it was it was totally ridiculous and awesome at the same time yeah between like being like basically a soap opera wrestling show but good for him good on Drake Maverick a lot of people were kind of shitting on this just saying that
00:47:36
Speaker
They, they, they, they milk this and they turn it into an angle and all these other people that got fired, got, you know. Yeah. I kind of had that sentiment too about it. I mean, I felt like I didn't like it when they first did it. Like, Oh, Drake Mavericks fighting for his job. I was like, not a good look when you just like let like so many people go during the middle of a pandemic. You know what I mean? When you could have like, let's be real when you could have kept them. Um, but then this whole, like, you know, Oh, he, he lost, but you know, we're going to,
00:48:04
Speaker
We're gonna make ourselves look good and give him give him a contract and make ourselves look like the good guys. I'm like It was I mean it was a warm and fuzzy moment cuz I don't know if I was getting worse or not if he actually knew that it was it was coming but Yeah, I did feel like it was a little self-serving and not actually for for Drake Mavericks benefit, you know, yeah a lot of people thought it was that video that he did after his release and
00:48:28
Speaker
It definitely was. A lot of people thought, yeah, and they seen it just by God, we can't let this guy go. Yeah, because there was like, you know, there was there was such a response to it. You know what I mean? And like, yeah, that's that's what WWE like gets their freaking rocks off on. It's like, oh, there's a social media response, pal. Like, you know, we got to keep this guy. Yeah, it's good shit. He's getting lots and lots of retweets.
00:48:54
Speaker
Oh, God. That's a great impression there. I love that. You're welcome. I was actually really good. You're welcome. Hey, I've been trying to keep up with you guys. Sheen McMahon. That's what I'm going to call it. Instead of Shane, Sheen McMahon. Alright, let's get into our NXT takeover in your house predictions. This is our first time ever. This is going to be a triple threat between the three of us because Marco is currently the champion.
00:49:19
Speaker
that's right
00:49:38
Speaker
There we go. Here we go right now. There it is. Love it. Yeah. I'll take that belt back after this. But if we do not have, let's talk about the in your house thing. NXT Twitter put up a, like a, like a vignette of, uh, of like kind of pie hyping up the event and they use the old raw, like 19 early nineties, like intro song, which got me hyped up, even though it didn't have anything to do with in your house. But, um,
00:50:04
Speaker
They have to do something cool with this. They have to build some sort of house set and have somebody jump off of it and looking at you, Keith Lee.
00:50:13
Speaker
That's that was the coolest thing about in your house back in the day was the in your house set in my opinion I loved that freaking set like the old the old house looking like it was on the set of like a 90s sitcom like I love that shit So if they don't do that, they just keep it like it is, you know, just like same old set up I'm gonna be very disappointed that they wasted this in your house title for something that's not special and
00:50:37
Speaker
Yeah, it's such a badass logo, too. So. Yes. Yeah. All right. Let's run down the car. And I guess, Marco, we can't make you run down the car because you are the champion. So I'll run it down here. This is a six-woman tag team match to start off the night. Shotzi Blackheart, Miriam, and Tegan Knox taking on Dakota Kai, Candice LeRae, and Raquel Gonzalez in a six-woman tag team match up here.
00:51:07
Speaker
Are you are you keeping track of the winners and losers, Marco? Oh, no, did we lose the champion? Oh, no, I'm here. I'm here. Oh, my God. I was like, I was like, is he going to forfeit? He's forfing out his title defense. He would he would jump in back in before 10. Are you going to keep track of our picks here? I can do it. I'll do it right. I'll keep up. OK, there you go. Yeah, thank you.
00:51:34
Speaker
So yeah, we got a six woman tag match. So Phil, you, you start first. Uh, who are you going? Thank you. Oh, I'm going to go with, uh, the team of Dakota Kai, Candice LeRae and Raquel Gonzalez, whatever her name is, I'm going heels here in a six woman tag team matchup. There's a,
00:51:53
Speaker
There's a lot of, like, intermingling feuds here between Mia Yim and Candice LeRae and whatnot. And you get the Knox and Dakota Kai feuds. So it should be a pretty cool match. I'm going to Heels here. Always go Heels. Yeah. I'm going Heels here, too. And I think it's just Raquel. I don't think anybody who spells their name like that is Raquel. I don't think that's a name. I think it's just Raquel. OK. How about you, Marco?
00:52:20
Speaker
I'm going to go opposite you guys and go faces on this one. Oh, I love it. I'm going to go faces. Shotzi, Blackheart. Shotzi, Mia, Tegan, I think they're taking it. Yeah, I mean, I think Keith Lee wins, so maybe Mia Yim loses. We'll see. Next match is Finn Balor versus Damien Priest, and Sheena, why don't you go first for this one?
00:52:45
Speaker
I mean, I don't give two shits about Damian Priest, so I'm going to get to go with Finn Balor on this one. OK, Mark. Same here. Yeah, Finn Balor. He's definitely winning this. Let's sweep it. Yeah, he's going to get back on the winning ways here. Yeah. All right. Charlotte Flair, the NXT Women's Champion against Rhea Ripley versus Io Shirai, which could be the match of the night here. I'm pretty excited about this.
00:53:13
Speaker
First off, who has the better moonsault, Charlotte Flair or Io Shirai? Oh, that's close. That's very close. It's tough because, I mean, Io's is like flawless, let's be real, but I think Charlotte's is more impressive because of Charlotte's size. I think just like this, you know, tall like behemoth of a woman, like
00:53:35
Speaker
flipping off the top rope. Yeah. Yeah. You know, in the, in the, in the best way possible. She's a beautiful behemoth. Um, doing a, doing a top rope moonsault. I think it's definitely more impressive. Charlotte, what do you guys think?
00:53:55
Speaker
It's close. I'm gonna go EO Shirai, but yeah, I think they're they're both pretty legit and I guess who picks here first. I think Marco picks here first Marco Yeah, tell us tell us about the moonsault and tell you tell me who wins this match Moonsault EO winner of this match Charlotte retains
00:54:17
Speaker
Hmm. I will go next. I think it makes the most sense for Rhea to win this and then move Flair back to just working two shows because right now she's doing the triple threat, you know, kind of just bouncing around everywhere. But so I think I'm going with Rhea. So Marco said, Charlotte, you're saying Rhea? Mm hmm. I was I mean, before you guys even picked, I was going to go Io Shirai because I don't think
00:54:47
Speaker
I don't think Charlotte wins the belt. I think this is too small of a stage to have Rio win it back. But I think they take the belt off of Charlotte here. I'm going to go Io Shirai.
00:54:58
Speaker
Mm, interesting. Tommaso Ciampassa taking on Karrion Kross, formerly known as Killer Kross here. And I think this is my turn to go first here. I'm going to go with the debuting, or the pay-per-view debuting, Karrion Kross is going to get the win here and be made to look strong as the next big monster heel for NXT.
00:55:24
Speaker
Yeah, they definitely have to make him like this this dominant threat. So I cannot see him losing his debut. I mean, they've like they've put a lot of like spectacle behind this guy. So I can't imagine him coming on and losing his first pay-per-view appearance. So I'm going with cross. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's I think we're all unanimous on that cross. Yeah. He's one of this match. OK.
00:55:48
Speaker
You swipe across the board all the same. Let's go NXT North American champion Keith Lee defending against Johnny wrestling Johnny Gargano This my pick first I think I Don't know I think as much as I hate it I think that Gargano is gonna take the
00:56:17
Speaker
going to take the title off of Keith Lee. I think they're really trying to establish him as this heel with his wife and set up some stuff for the future. So I think it's going to be Gargano. I'm going to go with Gargano as well. Final match, main event. I think this is a back lot brawl. Marco gets to pick first here. Adam Cole. No, Marco didn't pick this match. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
00:56:48
Speaker
Marco, Keith Lee versus Johnny Gargano. You have to say you're going up, but say I'm going to go Keith Lee retains. Oh, here we go. OK. Yeah. You're like the Ric Flair of the prediction championships here, man. Mm-hmm. OK, so NXT Championship Backlot Brawl match, Adam Cole versus Velveteen Dream. If Velveteen loses, he can't challenge for the title as long as Adam Cole is champion. I think Marco actually starts here with this one.
00:57:18
Speaker
All right, Marco. Yeah, it's the team's winning. I know that sounds crazy to some people, but he's definitely taking the title off of Adam Cole, I think anyway. Yeah, I'm going with dream as well. I think it's it's his time to have his, you know, have the top title. And I feel like Adam Cole, I mean, he's his contracts coming up in the near future. So I don't know whether he's going to go up to, you know,
00:57:46
Speaker
Raw or Smackdown or whether, you know, he would leave WWE. God forbid. I can't imagine. I would be so sad if Adam Cole leaves WWE, but I think they're going to give dream, you know, the chance to shine.
00:57:58
Speaker
Wow, he's had quite a turnaround from the last 30 days on this show. Yeah, I'll get into all that. I'm going to say Adam Cole retains here in some sort of mischievous way and lives to fight another day here because I don't know. I don't see Velveteen. I see him moving up before he wins the title here, but I could be wrong. So I'll go with Cole.
00:58:23
Speaker
Awesome. All right. Well, I it votes are locked in and we'll be an we yeah, we will be announcing the new
00:58:33
Speaker
prediction champion on next week's show. Yes, can't wait to win it. Let's go outside of the squared circle. This is brought to you in part by our friends at Collar & Elbow. You can use code CHICK for 10% off on their website. And they have an awesome Shad Gaspbar t-shirt that our buddy Zach Egloff just purchased and looks pretty damn awesome. And I believe all the proceeds go to him and his wife and his family.
00:58:58
Speaker
paying for his son's college and all that kind of stuff. So a very important cause. Check it out. Coloranelbowbrand.com is the website. First thing in the news here, Samoa Joe permanently replacing Jerry Lawler on commentary. God, this is amazing. Number one, because Jerry Lawler is just, just, just seems like a, yeah, awful. Seems like a someone from a forgotten era and Samoa Joe just brings like almost like when a
00:59:25
Speaker
When an NFL player retires in the next season that are on the pregame show, he just brings a lot of, he's wrestled against these guys, he's not a joke, what he says has very real meaning to it, so I love this.
00:59:41
Speaker
Yeah, I love this too. He's not just trying to like crack cheap jokes or get like, like you said, that was perfect way you put it. Jerry Lawler is from a forgotten era and I'm glad that he's off. No offense to Jerry Lawler, but he definitely does not fit in today's wrestling landscape. So Samoa Joe is a, is a breath of fresh air.
01:00:01
Speaker
Yeah. I like him a lot on commentary. Uh, we talked about fighter fest being two days replacing dynamite over the, I think it's the first couple of weeks of July. That's when that happened. July 1st and eighth, I believe is the dates for that. Well, we didn't talk about on, uh, Smackdown this week was, uh, then we saw the return of, uh, my buddy Kurt angle. And basically he's hyping up the, uh, the greatest wrestling match of all time. And he talks, this is the greatest show. Yeah.
01:00:28
Speaker
I need to put that song at the end of the night here. But Matt Riddle is getting some vignettes. He will be on the main roster here. And I'm kind of sad that he doesn't get to debut in front of a live crowd. I don't know if they're going to wait and just do vignettes for a while or what. But I would love to see him. He's such a fan favorite, man. So what do you think about Matt Riddle? I really hope they don't like him.
01:00:57
Speaker
tournament to a job or like four weeks in ricochet style well i mean that's a that's a high probability that that could happen but i'm excited for him to be on the main roster like you i wish it was more in front of a crowd i wish that he got to have that pop also i just wish that like we just had surprise call-ups you don't i like
01:01:17
Speaker
Why can't we just have the element of surprise anymore? Like just have some like have Matt Riddle come out in the middle of a freaking match and break shit up, you know, and like make his make his debut like FDR style. You know what I mean? I just feel like they're always like coming soon. Matt Riddle. And you're just like, oh, cool. You know, can't wait for that. Yeah, it's very anticlimactic for sure. Very. What do you think, Marco? Yeah, no, I'm excited for him to be on the main roster. I wish he kind of was on rock.
01:01:46
Speaker
more than SmackDown. Obviously, I want to see him face AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan's and obviously the greatest of all time, Sheamus. But no, Raw, he would interact with the likes of Aleister Black, which I would think that'd be a pretty brutal match. Obviously, Seth Rollins, Andrade, all those guys there. Apollo Crews.
01:02:12
Speaker
Yeah. So definitely, uh, excited for that. Can't wait. I don't think he's going to be a mid Carter Jarberg guy. I think they're going to actually push him, um, strap the rocket to his back as they like to say. And I don't think he, I don't think he himself would let that happen the way he's vocal and stuff about those type of issues on the social media. I don't think he would let the company put him in any type of different light than what he sees himself as. So, um,
01:02:38
Speaker
Yeah, I would be excited to see him and Dolph Ziggler. I think that would be a really good match. Or him and Daniel Bryan, I think, could be really good as far as SmackDown opponents. AJ Styles, obviously. We didn't talk about it in the AW Dynamite recap. But last week on the show, Rashad Evans and Beltor, one of the other guys. They're both former MMA guys. They were both part of Mike Tyson's little entourage.
01:03:08
Speaker
And the announcers on AEW did not talk about, I don't know if they didn't know that they were there or what, but both of those guys are really well-known MMA fighters. And I was really surprised that they didn't talk about those. And actually, JR talked about it on his podcast. Like, you know, we didn't know what was going on.
01:03:28
Speaker
So we were kind of clueless, but he had a bunch of guys there. Vitor Belfort was the other guy, and Rashad Evans. So both big names, the people that watch MMA, their UFC fans would know, and they were just kind of buried in the background. Even when you watch the clips back, obviously, I don't know if AEW even knew what was going on, because they were kind of buried in the background.
01:03:50
Speaker
And so just a little oversight there. You could have really pumped that up and made, oh, this is some real-life fighter. These weren't just guys that clean up the money of the strip club for Mike Tyson. These were real-life fighter guys. So those three guys could have probably destroyed everybody in that ring with one punch. So pretty fun to think about. We do have to talk about the return of Raw Talk. We talked about it a little bit earlier.
01:04:17
Speaker
Charlie Caruso and Samoa Joe will be hosting that. It'll be part of the new WWE Network, which will be actually free. We've heard rumors of the price going up and down and adding new features and all kinds of stuff. I'm all for this, but what are some of the features of this new free WWE Network? I know you get the replays of the shows and all that kind of stuff, clips and whatnot.
01:04:41
Speaker
Yeah, I think they're gonna do some like select number of like older paper views and stuff too that they're gonna give you access to and I like this I think it's I think they're gonna give people a taste of the nostalgia because let's be real
01:04:55
Speaker
that the WWE network brought me back into the fold like this whole thing that we're doing here this this show the chick Foley account like all none of that may have been possible if it weren't for the WWE network because I was like holy crap like the free they're like bringing back all the old pay-per-views like I can watch like you know shit from you know 1994 um and on like a streaming service just for WWE like this is great well then
01:05:19
Speaker
watching that I started getting into the new product and I think that's what their hopes are is by giving people a chance to get this for free that they'll get hooked on the nostalgia and then they'll also see some like exclusive content that will bring them into the newer product. I think it's a good move. I hope it pays off for them.
01:05:38
Speaker
For sure. I think it's definitely going to add some new people watching, and that's what you want. You want the casual fans like, oh shit, I can watch this for free now, all this extra stuff, and blah, blah, blah. So yeah, it's a good call. The last thing on the notes here, WWE2K, their next entry, they're looking for some inspiration from older video games, says they're one of their developers, which is
01:06:02
Speaker
Probably a good thing because maybe 2K20 stunk so bad. I'm still playing 2K19. Yeah, the heel husband was before he left. He was still playing 2K19 too. He never he and he and he gave 2K20 like an honest shot. You know, I mean, he was he was not going to listen to all the stuff that everybody was saying. He's like, I'm going to make my own judgment call. I'm going to make my own opinion. You know, I know people are crapping on this game. But yeah, even him, he was like, hmm.
01:06:31
Speaker
just can't do it going back to 2k19. So they better get their shit together because the 2k franchise is like, that is like big money, you know, and they're, they're effing it up.
01:06:43
Speaker
And on a different note, myself and The Heal Husband did a Patreon exclusive episode ranking the top wrestling video games of all time. And that was probably about a year ago or so. I was on that episode. Oh, you were. That's right. Yeah, you were. And you were also on the Mattel... I forgot you were on the Mattel Retro episode for some reason.
01:07:05
Speaker
I tweeted out that me and Mike Lanham did, and I listened to her like, oh shit, she is on the stem. That was back in July. So I mean, I can't remember what I had for breakfast, so I fucking remember. This year has felt like five years, so I don't blame you. Thinking about, that was earlier this year that we did the video game show, right? Because Seth and I went on. No, it had to be a while ago.
01:07:27
Speaker
Don't think so dude Seth and I were in a hotel room because we had the we had the baby face We had the baby face in a different room and we were like at the start of the show We were like whispering so we didn't like wake him up So that was like earlier in the year like or like early last year I mean like in April right like so it's been about a year ago when we when we did that but Yeah, that was that was good stuff I can't wait for the heel husband to get back because he's gonna be doing a lot more of like our exclusive content and jumping on for a
01:07:55
Speaker
interviews and giving his thoughts and stuff too because, you know, he's a wealth of knowledge. For sure. And I mean, I think it's good for me. It isn't kind of concerning that a multi-million dollar video game franchise is looking for help, you know, making their games not suck. But, you know, there isn't. And they're having to dive into old stuff like usually video games like aren't they like trying to be innovative and look for stuff that like is like like for the future. Like, oh, let's let's let's rewind and like do the same shit that we were doing two or three years ago.
01:08:24
Speaker
I'm pretty pumped for that Tony Hawk Pro Skater to come back out. That was a game I played for freaking days upon days. That was an awesome game. So yeah, that's the end for the outside of the ring segment here. We are going to push stop recording on this episode and we'll be back with a brand new episode. We're going to talk about our weekly purchases, some of the new figures dropping from ringside collectibles.
01:08:50
Speaker
The Fiend arriving at my house and rumored lineups for Elite 79 and 80 So for myself, Marco and Sheena, we will talk to you guys on the other side. See you then.
