Speaker: Learning is always the best option. He was doing his master's work. He couldn't get out of school. I needed somebody else for the football show. And who did we all say we should call? None other.
Speaker: Then Alan. Rowan. AP saving the day last night. What's up, brother? How are you? I'm doing good. Also coming off a back -to -back too, by the way, just got done with the Rec Room Sports Radio Show. So that's on every Thursday, 4 p .m. Eastern to 6 p .m. Eastern. I usually join in the second hour because I also have to work. so But still, it's a pretty pretty cool show if you want to check it out. We talked a lot of baseball on that show, so go check that out if you haven't seen it today.
Speaker: And then also right from Sports Hub. on youtube We got to lock it in this weekend. um our which is our betting show. We got college football on Saturday, NFL on Sunday.
Speaker: And then our normal baseball show. which is wednesday night myself scott co and minor Former minor league prospect and current hitting coach at Coastal Bend College in South Texas, Mr. Jonathan Grishman.
Speaker: Oh cool. No, and he, and and ah no, ah Jonathan. because he is a former player. at that high of a level. brings very, very high -level knowledge, and I love it. He did tell me a story of when he was in minor league camp for the Mets, and it was hilarious.
Speaker: Okay, you know what? We're not doing this. We're not doing this. We're not cheating on the Mets today. All right? They're out of it. So are your damn Rangers! He was also in the Rangers camp too.
Speaker: Yeah. And he was in camp with two losers. That's what he was, a bunch of – he was hanging out with a bunch of losers. Called the Rangers and the Mets. That's what he was called.
Speaker: soer no he's a gentleman ap and i will carry this thing Go ahead, AP. Hey, you a I will give you props, Omar. Your Raiders are playing very well right now.
Speaker: Yeah, damn right. 3 -0. We're going to beat. Kansas City you go 4 -0 this week. And then. We're going to beat the Patches in New England to go 5 -0. I called it months ago, and it's happening as we speak.
Speaker: so And I think for the first time since 1997, no, no, I'm sorry, 2002, when we switched to digital, is you are 3 -0.
Speaker: in the fantasy league or one of the OGs who was in my fantasy league when we started this. So. ah you're you're You're on pace to like... And really, this means you're like you're in for a life, basically. You know that, right? 2002. That was actually the last year the Raiders went to the Super Bowl, too. Wow.
Speaker: so why me it' a second me Hey, I'm saying that is a good thing for you, Walmart, because it's like. the The stars are aligning here. At least you haven't had to wait since 1995.
Speaker: wow This is what I'll say. You're still gonna be waiting. At least you weren't an infant. The last time your team went to a Super Bowl. You're still going to be waiting for a long time.
Speaker: Wrong, wrong time. As a Commander's fan, a long, long time. I'm sorry. How's Jaden doing, by the way? Is he feeling better? i'm I'm actually in for him. I'm going to London right after this.
Speaker: So i will be I will be backing up Marcus Mariota. The craziest part about that. is i was just watching a commander's ah content creator on Sunday Showdown. They're on right now. And he said that Jaden is actually traveling with the team. and yeah is actually looking, getting closer to playing at some point and over the next.
Speaker: couple of weeks and it wouldn't be out as long as everybody thought. is what he said so i don't know He might be there for just like an emergency situation if they need somebody. That screams contract escalator to me. I know that you can talk more about this on the football show maybe, but I think that he can only be out for a certain amount of time before like...
Speaker: The money starts like, yeah, I think that might be it. Because if I were him, I wouldn't rush myself back. You've been injured twice? Like why what are you doing?
Speaker: You know? but's All right. We all have choices to make. And we had last year, two years ago, whatever it was. where ah We were doing decent.
Speaker: So. you know I'll take it. Plus it's hockey season anyway. It's Obie's last season, so. Hockey season is upon us. My Kings will suck this year again. so i'm not to be worried about that. Let's keep it moving.
Speaker: Yes indeed. We are talking MLB baseball today, the wild card round. started Let me go ahead and bring up. The bracket.
Speaker: as it looks like right now. Bye. And someone. we'll have some things to he wants to talk about in a second but let's go ahead and look at this We got our post -season picture.
Speaker: You can see here. ah That the da the White Sox, excuse me. The upstart White Sox that just... Two years ago. or last year the year before last and the year before that and the year before that lost Record number of games.
Speaker: has not only made the playoffs but now gone on to beat the, oh my goodness, if it wasn't for your Don Alvarez. we would be in such disarray that we wouldn't even have a baseball team, we don't think. I think I saw AP fighting with the Astros fan this morning as I woke up to a Facebook post. Absolutely blasting, man.
Speaker: um but their organization is is is in full disarray after another collapse, which I'll let him talk about. The Red Sox, don't worry, Amul, you're going to talk about this one. He's going to have to eat that crow, baby. We make everybody eat their crow. He's going to eat it here on this show. When we talk about.
Speaker: his Boston Red Sox. Just on the last show. I take Jake made a great joke and said after the Yankees. that theyre That the ah Boston Red Sox have bloody socks after the Yankees kicked their ass. That's a tremendous joke. going back That's a good joke. That's a good joke. I like that. Props to him.
Speaker: Props to him. That's a great joke. Then we're looking at the Padres. Who called it? Your boy, the sports professor with the. professing of the Padres, who are now the hottest team in Major League Baseball, running over the Cubs and possible MVP. You'll find out our MVP picture here in just a little bit.
Speaker: PCA. of the Chicago Cubbies. um And then you got game. Three tonight, the deciding game at... Truist Park. in Atlanta.
Speaker: Beep. Both two and two of my most hated teams. The Philadelphia Phillies will be going up against the Atlanta baseball team in a do or die game to see who plays.
Speaker: duh Godgers. All right. Ciao! Now that I've laid that all out for everyone, I am going to lay out for the gentlemen here and see what they got to say. and because One of us is the most distraught. And it makes me happy because I like to laugh at it.
Speaker: Because he loves talking shit about my mix. But now I'm going to have to watch him. suffer and eat crow about his horrible Red Sox! I'm all done.
Speaker: You better answer. What's going on? how but how much How much time do we have? All right. So here's the thing. And no excuses. I listened to a bunch of Boston media today.
Speaker: I've read a lot of postmortems. a Shout out to... the I think Maz and Felger on 98 .5. Sports Hub out of Boston.
Speaker: a Shout out to the baseball is dead and section 10. ah podcasts. I hung out with both of them last night because they're both they're both Red Sox fans. and so um I'm gonna say this.
Speaker: Right. ah i And feel free to put up my post that I made ah that i shared with you earlier, Omar. um I don't think this was Tracy's fault. I think this was Breslau's fault.
Speaker: ah if we're looking for a place to put blame. ah If you can't spend... on your team. a team that should have the third highest payroll.
Speaker: in the majors and instead you're 10th. then what are you doing? Why do you even have the position? Couple stats for you. I know I'm not a stat boy. I'm not trying to be a stat boy, but I like stats. And you know how we like stats on this show as well.
Speaker: ah Going back to the last ah including the two games. from the playoffs. The Red Sox lost cuminle cumulatively. 43 to 5.
Speaker: Okay, 43 to five, but let that sink in, ladies and gentlemen. ah When you go 18 and 2... in the playoffs. And...
Speaker: Don't get me wrong. I like Garrett Crochet. I realized he was put in a tough situation. you probably shouldn't have been in the game. Between you, me, and a lamppost, he shouldn't have been in the game at all. He shouldn't have even been activated. But okay. That's a choice you want to make.
Speaker: go ahead and make it. Um... He said we're close. 18 -2 in the playoffs. and Just the wild card games. That's not close. If you're batting...
Speaker: uh you know if you're but if you're hitting seven for sixty in this series. with three walks in 18 innings. 19 strikeouts.
Speaker: Okay. You hit 117. cumulatively Between Omar... Myself. And AP, if we all played baseball. For the Red Sox, if we did.
Speaker: We would not hit 117. we would at least hit slightly better. Okay, maybe in the 200s above the Mendoza line. The Yanks, by the way.
Speaker: hit somewhere in the neighborhood of 392. ah there's there There's another stat out there where... ah You know, the Yankees bullpen. I believe is and check me on this because I got this all last night.
Speaker: It could have changed. I don't know. We're in an age where numbers are doctored. The bullpen. ah for the Yankees is 225. Okay? If you're not going to have...
Speaker: Like if you're not going to invest in your team. Go get Nalanzo. Go get a bigger bat. Okay, yeah, sure. Let's go trade for Adlai Rushman. a good smart idea at the time. but he can't throw it to second base.
Speaker: My nieces could throw to second base. better than he could, and there are four. Mmm! Oh. Um... So... You know... the The fact...
Speaker: This was an implosion. And I know Omar likes to to crack on the Red Sox in this case because it brings them joy. And that's fine. He deserves it. because his Mets...
Speaker: didn't have a good season. but I'm a little livid. Because you can't sit there. And... and say that you want to invest in your team, and promote a rookie manager. Because by the way...
Speaker: Craig Stammen is also a rookie manager over in San Diego. How did they do last night? I was tracking both games. Mhm. so If Stamets making some smart decisions.
Speaker: What? Yeah, if Stamets is making smart decisions, Why did Chad Tracy stick to analytics? Better yet, why did he stick to what Breslow said?
Speaker: Why couldn't he just go? if He wants to make his mark on the team. You signed a three -year contract. you're not going to make your market you want to make your mark your time was last night because you're going into a year two.
Speaker: Probably. unless there's a lockout, which I believe I put in the post that... um on threads that there will be a lockout because i believe there will be you know, now you're you're going to play 2020 as your final You know, you might get extended, you might, but Breslau may be here, he may not.
Speaker: This had Breslow written all over it. How are you going to throw... Miller and Olds. fact you're going to throw well You're going to throw Miller back -to -back? when he And I said this last night to the...
Speaker: To the judge, to AP, and to Omar, I said, listen. We're going to lose. And then a second later. Miller throws a slider. that conveniently clay belliger deposits you know in the right field fence and i was like okay Told you. like Like...
Speaker: You have to prep, you have to have a bullpen If you don't have a bullpen, what are you doing? If you don't have the pieces in place... why are we I realize he gave us all hope. That's great.
Speaker: Third place. it's something that i suggested you know spring training which is why i'm Kind of love the hat, but... I'm with it. because you can't sit there and and continue to play like this for the next.
Speaker: I'm going past the lockout now like for the next three to five years and expect to compete. ah in the playoffs. You can't. October is for serious teams.
Speaker: I'll leave it here. October is for serious teams and the bread socks. We're not one. Yeah, no, they weren't There's a few things - Thanks for the 20 minutes. That was i want you i'm gonna back you up man look as as a manager there tracy you've got to You can't be bringing in Eric Miller back -to -back nights.
Speaker: um And you also shouldn't be pulling your lefty starter. for that. um Also, there was the move that ah You know, bringing in Gary Crochet, who hasn't faced hitters since. April 24th.
Speaker: you know is something as well that needs to be looked at um It just seems like... You know, Tracy just, he's not as experienced as he needs to be yet. as a manager in order to make big decisions. in big games. like this um now he'll get there he'll get there And that's fine. And it may be on Breslow too, but it may also just be on Red Sox fans.
Speaker: as annoying as they are. And I know because I've known one almost my whole life. I'm sitting right here listening. I can tell you how annoying they are. when they're good and so uh you know they had a really good team in the second half that fought back from a lot of adversity and, you know, was the best team in the second half. Unfortunately, that was not enough. And when the Red Sox fans like to...
Speaker: Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp with their mouth a bunch. No, no. we We weren't the best team. Sorry, we weren't the best team in the second half, but go ahead. That's fine. But if y 'all wouldn't chirp your mouth so much...
Speaker: and get Pam Schindler. So pissed off. that he wants to rip through the whole state of Massachusetts where he was born. All right. You didn't hear the story. The Yankees have Tim Schlittler. He's from Massachusetts. I was going to tell this story too. well Oh, go ahead. Go ahead. Tell it. No, no, go ahead. No, no, no.
Speaker: I want to hear it from you. I want to hear it from the crow's mouth. So so I tell it a little bit differently. Because I don't keep up with... I do. But hear me out. Hear me out. Okay? Hear me out. Because I'm not privy to the whole, like, just like...
Speaker: ah just like you may. skip over some stuff, I skip over to that. Bye. With Schlitz and with Ben Rice, both were from Boston. they They had a chance to draft.
Speaker: both Ben Rice and Schwitz, they chose not to. From my understanding, that's where the... the beef started. Now, correct me if I'm wrong. There might be more to it. There might be Red Sox fans involved. I wasn't involved. because I shall let's get on my radar. Like what?
Speaker: earlier this year, last year maybe, late last year. well So you can tell that story. Yeah. but If you're a Red Sox fan, you represent this fan base. that has now been harassing him and his family. online. Because he doesn't pitch for the Red Sox.
Speaker: He got so upset because his family and friends were harassed. by Red Sox fans. that he has made it a point. to say that he wants to demolish the red sox every single time he steps on the field which is why he gave y 'all punk asses eight and a third of complete game ball and sent y 'all asses home.
Speaker: That's what Cam Schlitz did. and and honestly and and honestly sorry go ahead oh oh good good i'm just gonna say and and honestly If there's a select group of Red Sox fans that are out there doing this, please stop.
Speaker: That's called tempting fate. Turn around. go outside, turn around. you know and spit over your right shoulder. You know, stop this. Stop it. Because if you start pissing off other team but players from other teams.
Speaker: They're going to Otis. We deserve that then. I'm sorry, we deserve it. And to the point of Toll, that was the other thing I wanted to make. Peyton Toll was pitching his pitching his you know game of his life, more or less.
Speaker: Sunny Gray. Opponents at 118. against him the third time around. how you not How are you not going to leave him in the game?
Speaker: So he can face the Yanks one more time. Exactly. So I agree with you. I do. Like, I know that you're you're doing this to so that I can quote unquote eat crow.
Speaker: but there's a lot you'll be surprised there's a large amount that i agree with you on So let me know um it's a baseball show in which I have to be a respectable baseball analyst. So, you know, I come with my facts as well, but yeah. It was also to make you grow. I like that.
Speaker: I definitely blame Craig Bergel in this situation. i get it you made some moves at the deadline to try to make your team better But you... In my opinion, you made the worst move possible early in the season.
Speaker: By firing Alex Cora. Mmm. Mmm. Here's a... and the reason i say that is because alex words I'll score it. Yo, know other than... Kevin Cash?
Speaker: is one of the best managers, if not a top two manager in this league. I agree with that. Imagine if the Red Sox go on the run with Alex Cora still under the helm.
Speaker: And they get to the postseason. You feel much better as a Red Sox fan with Alex Cora managing this team. Mhm. If you would. Honestly, Yes, the players are young. There's some... pieces there that that's like you know You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. look at you Looking at you, Roman Anthony.
Speaker: Um, for Big facts. Um, But still, I feel like with Alex Cora in that clubhouse. You can at least steer it in the right direction, even with the pieces that you had.
Speaker: At the very, at the very. and the very at At the very least, he would have been playing a game three right now. No, he would have quit because the front office is too is too reliant. and that is problem This is Moneyball. This is Moneyball. like magnified 10 times over. again And again, that's why I blame Craig Breslow. is because you couldn't put Business aside.
Speaker: You couldn't put personal feelings aside to allow Alex Cora to manage this team. and get you to where you guys need to be. And it's also false on ownership too. So, yeah unfortunate and unfortunately, the the... The Red Sox have an owner that's more focused on their their soccer team nationally.
Speaker: than they are the actual Red Sox. So and they are but until they get invested or until they sell the team. Uh... I mean, look at what the Angels just did.
Speaker: I mean, we're looking and we're looking We're looking at staying in 10th place for payroll. I don't think they're going to make, they should make by leaps and bounds, but they're not going to. Yeah, and and and what and what else happens is when you have a slumping offense...
Speaker: that was really good in the second half and now just kind of fell off a cliff here at the end of the season and then you run into um the buzz saws of schlitz and met max max freed uh in a three -game series All you need is two good pitchers. in a three -game series.
Speaker: Well, Schlitz was better. Psh. Schlitz was better than Max Reed. Like, Max Fried was hit a lot. but But if you go 15, 15, you're still out. Yes. No, I'm not. I'm not contesting that. I know I'm out. Like, I know I'm out. But like. you know if the the fact that you if you go state if that makes you screen i will say this at the very least i'm living bro
Speaker: i would say at the very least you didn't do what houston did and do a bullpen game week game one. I thought we might. I thought we might. because they don't know what they're doing, honestly. Like, I'm sorry. you Like, this is something I've said since the beginning, since spring training. Like, you got to want it. Right.
Speaker: at the end of this At the end of the day, you got to want to be... uh you know you've got to build your team and get to a point where you can get you know, go to the World Series. The Rays won it.
Speaker: The Brewers want it. you know After last night, the Yankees and... the the the Padres want it. What if we get a Yankees -Padres? ah you know shades of 1998.
Speaker: What if we get that? you know, World Series. I know we'll talk about that later. Both legs. You know, it's just one of those things. Yeah, well, that will bring the... ah The Yankees will end up now moving on.
Speaker: After beating the Red Sox, as you see, they will be playing the Tampa Bay Rays. And that starts Saturday at 635. p .m eastern Time.
Speaker: Alright, moving it on. to another part of here. It is your account. because it is your division. Not your account. Because your sorry ass team is in Cancun with my Mets. AD, but...
Speaker: You're AL West. Stop! The Houston Astros. Go up against... The White Sox, who, again, we talked about.
Speaker: Just a couple years ago. Lost over 100 games, lost 116, the record, and now made the playoffs. Now going on to the second round after beating the Houston Rockets. Talk to us about this series, AP.
Speaker: well Well, first and foremost, if you can't tell by the hat, guess who's won a World Series recently? oh oh also Also... And I also say that to make a point about this series.
Speaker: Um... This was also the last Texas team to win a postseason game. It was three years ago. Um... The Houston Astros are a very...
Speaker: Weird anomaly. Um... Amol, you're in the Washington DC area or close to it, correct? Yeah, I am. 2019, the Astros lose all four home games.
Speaker: in that World Series. They lost all four home games. In that World Series. Looking at their home record. Even when they won the World Series in 2022, most of their wins were on the road.
Speaker: This team has lost nine straight Home. Playoff games. dating back three years ago. Wow. They for some reason or another I don't know what it is. Oh, yes, and I said it and I said it this morning Because... You know, Christian Walker came out last night saying, I don't understand why the fans are booing. You can't win at home.
Speaker: You can't win yeah a meaningful postseason game. At home! You have to go to another ballpark just to play like you're the freaking Astros!
Speaker: wow And pull your shirt. You literally cannot win a game. Even back when it was minute main park you still couldn't win a game at home Like... this date This dates back pre -COVID.
Speaker: Like... They struggled at home in the postseason for whatever reason. And it's like, oh, at least, you know, at least we met. You're the worst division champion to beat make the postseason.
Speaker: Like, I get it. Yes, you yes the AL West was terrible. all the way around this year. But that is nothing to hang in. We knew this was the easiest.
Speaker: Series to predict. Because the Astros were just so bad. All you have to do is just pitch around Jordan Alvarez and you can easily win this series. That's true too.
Speaker: I mean, this this is the most predictable team. Out of this field. And then... Even Astros fans will agree with you. on this that's why they're so upset Because they expect better. They expect winning baseball. that's this is the tradition that they started. You know, even even when they jumped to the American League.
Speaker: They're used to playoff baseball. They're used to winning baseball. And now their team can't even win a playoff game at home.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, you know you're right about it. It's sad. For those Houston fans that. You know, look. A lot of people. I hate Houston. for the whole trashcan scandal, as all of you know about that are watching this program as baseball fans. And yes, we all had hate for them.
Speaker: uh not as much as ap does regularly but we all had hate for them at some point in time Um... and they just i mean they just were not They did nothing right all season long.
Speaker: um Even if you go back to your batting lineups in the spring. when they were trying to decide how to go through all their hitters. and who to hit where, and if Altuve was a defensive liability or not. who if If Alvarez could hold up in left field and at the end of the season. They were both playing on defense.
Speaker: Both of their third basemen couldn't play because they were hurt. They didn't have enough depth. They're bullpen. was horrible. 408 ERA. 3 .7 walks per nine. 1 .24 home runs per nine, which is bad for a bullpen.
Speaker: 2 .5 war. For a bullpen. after fielding only ranked 18th. So, Their bullpen was sub -average. which did not help them here against the White Sox at all. Their team was tired. Even if Altuve is still a fountain of youth somehow hitting home runs. And I love that dude. He's somehow still doing it. Even after all the shit he went through, not going to say that he didn't have any part in it. Because he did.
Speaker: But the fact that he's still playing at this. Age, advanced age and playing so well and still leading. um the astros you know There's a lot of things that the Astros are going to have to work on. Their whole roster is is in disarray as well.
Speaker: um As I mentioned earlier, Alvarez can't be your saving grace. Altuve is getting over the hill to where he's not going to be around much longer in the game. He's going to retire. So they've got to figure something else out. But when you look at the other side, shout out to the. Chicago White Sox, man. Look, no one ever thought they were gonna be here. And I still think they're a year ahead schedule, as you'll find out in my. I will say, though, I will say, though, I picked them to be. I actually did pick them to be a wildcard team. I did not expect them to be this good.
Speaker: I picked them to be a wild card. I picked them to be a wild card team. I did not think that they would be leading the AL Central for a majority of the season. So, hats off again, like you said, Omar, hats off to the White Sox.
Speaker: And I said this on our show earlier today. There is nothing more dangerous in a postseason tournament. than a team that has nothing to lose. The White Sox don't have anything to lose at this point.
Speaker: They are beat playing with house money. They have no expectations. There's no pressure on anybody to deliver in any type of situation. There's more pressure on the other three teams in the American League.
Speaker: so Whoa, whoa. And... and and and the best part and the best part is they have no media training which means they're fun And, you know, when they're fun, I mean, yes, I will get it. to hand it to the White Sox. Brayden Montgomery has has broken out.
Speaker: Whoa, whoa, whoa, guys. but Real quick. We've got huge breaking news. Shout out to Christopher Foster 8780. The cops have fired Brent Townsend.
Speaker: That's crazy. Breaking news on the show. They stole them from the Cubs in the middle of the night, the Brewers. in the middle of the night three years ago, stole him from their rival and already firing him after three disappointing seasons. We're going to talk about this in just a second. Thank you. Shout out to Christopher Foster. We appreciate you, brother. Everybody tuning in. would We need start you to drop comments like that. Go ahead and finish up what you were saying, though, AP.
Speaker: about the about this series. So the White Sox this year remind me of the Diamondbacks three years ago. Okay. A team. that That had nothing to prove. They barely made the postseason.
Speaker: they go in They go into the first round. They sweep the Dodgers. At Gordon Carroll. They sweep the Dodgers starting out, then they sweep the...
Speaker: Phillies? In the DS series. And then they take, I want to say they took. uh four out of five over the padres in the nlcs to get to the world series Again, a team that had Nothing to lose, nothing to prove. No one expected him to be there. They went on a magical run. Yes, it ended up in ah in a loss to, you know, the eventual World Series champion, but... Still, that is going to be – I think the White Sox are going to be Don't sleep on them.
Speaker: Don't sleep on him at all. Okay. And just to add a little bit of salt in the wound, like salt bae there, Amul. I'm going to be like selfie on that ass right now. Five of the White Sox 11 hits.
Speaker: Came from a player acquired in one trade. Do you know who that trade was, Mr. Amul? Crochet for the farm. Crochet for the farm, baby. Five of the White Sox 11 hits to help them win. k That trade alone. What do you have to say for yourself?
Speaker: did cal Was Kyle Teo one of those heads? Out of curiosity? I don't know. I'd have to look at the backboard. Okay, but I do... Because if... If Kyle Teal was one of the hits, I know Braden Montgomery was. If Kyle Teal was one of them. Hats off to him.
Speaker: He's been a favorite of mine. since he was in the minors. And I've been tracking his career. And honestly, like, it gutted me because he was supposed to be the the catcher of the future for the Red Sox. I'm glad he landed with the White Sox. I mean, yes, they have the Pope on their side.
Speaker: Yes, I do think divine intervention has helped here a little bit. You had two hits. Two for five. Yeah. So, you know, it's, I mean... again you're selling the farm thank you breslov thank you for this i appreciate it i do you know, knowing full well that I just can't
Speaker: come out and and talk smack about other teams because you position Or... beloved Red Sox in such a way. that honestly...
Speaker: If the Nationals played, then the Nationals could probably beat them at this point. What do you think about the White Sox, though? What do you think about the White Sox and and maybe even the Astros? House Bunny. ah If the White Sox keep it up.
Speaker: I know we, everyone, they're... uh everyone and you know in baseball world is picking the rays if not the rays then the yanks but uh i would say you know if the white socks can uh upset the the Guardians.
Speaker: and then upset the the Rays, and they deserve to be there. I think that... uh houston you know basically slid into the playoffs much like you know, somebody you don't like slides into your DMs and, you know, and basically... I mean, you know, it is what it is. Like they deserve to lose. I'm sorry.
Speaker: Bang foul poles, not trash cans. So, um to revive an old saying, But I I like what the White Sox are doing, honestly. if they're They may be a year ahead, but this they may be exactly where they want to be.
Speaker: And that's the point. I think in all of this. we at this point i mean ah at this point of the year and i i agree with what ap said last time we all got together is you've got to ride with the hot team like if you're a hot team you've got nothing to lose I mean, I'm sorry. like how can you turn against them, especially if they're they're giving you results that you're just kind of like, all right, yeah, they're they're moving on.
Speaker: So, I mean, I hope Breslow sleeps. I hope his pillow is warm tonight. and I hope it's not cool. On both sides. I hope it's warm on both sides.
Speaker: You're lucky, Breslow. You're lucky Amul isn't like a villain. in like an action movie because he'd have been like you better You better sleep with one eye open. Oh, no, I think...
Speaker: I think that's already happened. in that's already Somebody's already said that in in the Boston vicinity. I just don't want to repeat that. you know um a guy like that so he won't say that to you better and it's like we were alluding to earlier other than murakami who's their japanese import who who on this white sox team is a household name Yeah, you're right.
Speaker: You're right. Again, so again they're playing they're playing with house money. they Again, no. you kind of a moot alluded to it ah earlier and we'll know uh national spotlight no media spotlight so they can play loose and free and they can have fun And yeah. Those are the most dangerous teams come postseason time.
Speaker: I just hope that if they go far enough. and we end up with like a midwest classic that because the bright lights will be on them then So you wonder if they're actually going to be able to perform.
Speaker: with, you know, all eyes on. I still call it Comiskey. I refuse to call it guaranteed rate because I will not call you guaranteed rate. field unless you're giving us a mortgage. Are you giving us a mortgage? No.
Speaker: So, you know. No mortgage incoming here. And to be fair, you have we have seen a 100 loss team.
Speaker: And two years later, team go with 100 losses and two years later they win a World Series and that was the Texas Rangers. By the way, the Diamondbacks in that same World Series were also a 100 -loss team two years prior. So yeah it is not out of the realm of... Out of the realm of possibility for the White Sox to do this.
Speaker: just I'm just going to put this up here to haunt the Astros fans watching this. you know, from 2019. That Nationals team was like 19 and 31 in May.
Speaker: I know. And they came all the way back and won the World Series. so i mean well you know Well, Chicago never trailed in either of these games. And now they move on to face their divisional rivals. The Guardians in the ALDS, that'll be at 1 p .m. Eastern. on Saturday. Let's keep it moving because the game is about to start.
Speaker: So let's move on to... The aforementioned Cubs. who just fired their manager, Craig Council, after being swept out by the Padres.
Speaker: um So now we're looking at it. Hey, look, the Padres. I've swept the Cubs out. As I mentioned earlier, Alex or I mentioned this on total evisceration Alex Bregman and PCA Oh for - 11 in the series.
Speaker: Not going to get it done when your best players are not hitting the ball. The Padres will have to move on now. To play the Brewers, the Padres are the hottest team in the league. After your boys said they would be so, they heard my magic and took it with them. But now they play the buzzsaw of the Brewers who had 103 wins in the regular season. Before we get there, let's talk about this series.
Speaker: How about the Padres whooping the Cubs? AP, we'll come right back to you. I mean... This was over from the first at bat. but if you if you want If you want to look at it in a broader point, this was over from the first at bat. Fernando Tatis leadoff home run just on the outstretched glove of PCA, ironically enough.
Speaker: um Yeah, once that once that moment hit. You kind of felt this shift. change a lot that Hup! The - Tick! Ballpark is a very loud barb ballpark, especially in the postseason. If you go back a couple years ago when the the Padres made that run to the NLCS, they... That home crowd was electric throughout that postseason.
Speaker: and you know this was the danger this was the danger that happened uh When you you allow the Padres, a team that wasn't even in. the wild card discussion About a month ago, they were like three or four games out. All of a sudden they get on a hot streak. They end up stealing, not only getting into the wild card competition.
Speaker: but becoming the home field advantage team, the top wild card team. by slipping over the other two teams, so... Again, the hottest team going in is usually the team to keep an eye out on.
Speaker: This is... The hottest team. coming into the postseason. And they continued to stay hot. after sweeping the cubs in the series so i mean they're pitching great again tatis is looking like his younger self We haven't seen this kind of game from Tatis in a long time. So... you know he's been He's been playing great. Manny Machado's had kind of a little bit of a resurgence here. um Yup.
Speaker: And it's like, you need again, you pointed it out earlier, Omar, you need your star players to perform. in in big situations like this. so that includes fernando tatis that includes manny machado Oh. You save your Bogarts.
Speaker: Zayner Bowler. Zader Bogart. ja ja Jake And y 'all want to know who else? Shout out to Joe Musgrove. who hadn't pitched a game.
Speaker: Since October 4th, 2024, when he had Tommy John surgery, he was a surprise addition to the Padres' playoff roster. And yesterday, in a game where the starter did not allow a hit,
Speaker: Till the seventh inning, Mr. Michael King, he came on. the author of the first no -hitter in franchise history for the Padres. which I know because he did it against my Mets. And I watched him no hit us.
Speaker: ah took the mound in the ninth inning. to protect an 8 -0 lead. And in doing so, shout out to Sarah Langs. From MLB. And the Lions sports, he became the first player to appear in sequential. postseason games. in different seasons. with no regular season. games in between. How crazy is that? Two post -seasons you played and you didn't play no regular season games.
Speaker: That's pretty crazy. but Either way, the Padres left. The Cubs in the dust. Do you agree or not? I agree. um I'll tell you this. You're going to love this. ah The Zader Bogarts.
Speaker: Former Red Sox. You know? Um... The baseball is dead and and Section 10. podcast like that was watching the live stream right last night and i was in the comments when when When San Diego... started going up like after that first inning home run. Right. And they just kept like I looked up and it was eight nothing.
Speaker: And they were like, we miss Xander. Like it turned into, instead of talking about the Sox, he started talking about the Padres and how the Padres were just. Like... belt whooping the Cubs and just trying to make sure that the Cubs didn't come back.
Speaker: So, ah it like I alluded to when I was giving my Red Sox rant, we're doing this solely on the basis of ah Like if we're picking World Series, if you're picking the World Series, not we, if if you in general are picking the World Series based off home runs, we're looking at a Yankees.
Speaker: you know, friars. uh returned in 1998. um leave your your i mean Feel free to put your talk your Tony Gwynn. um jersey on if you'd like. But ah the Cubs were not Prepared. at all.
Speaker: much like the Red Sox. And, you know... it It makes sense to fire Craig Council because if you still wanted the cover a night. Like, okay, that only worked for a football team.
Speaker: barely And then the the team that, you know, that that was years ago. Many, many years ago. Like, you know, don't don't do that. Don't, like, that's called, what what don' we why don did I just talk about 30 minutes ago? what do we is He's referring to the Indianapolis Colts taking the Baltimore Ravens franchise for everybody who did not get that reference because they're not 85 years old, sir.
Speaker: We're not 85 years old. We're not even collecting social security. Stop that. I'm happy before we were born. Just want to point out real quick, Craig Council firing has not been confirmed yet. I haven't seen anything about it. but i would not be surprised I would not be surprised if it does happen. No.
Speaker: Okay. ted Well, what do you think about this? What do you think about this series? Talk to us. I mean... the Go ahead. oh yeah Oh, you said that already. Never mind. Yeah, i I already talked about it. That's right. That's right. Yeah, they won from the beginning. Yeah, I want to agree with all everything that was said here. Look, the Padres are the hottest team.
Speaker: in the league and they just... They completely ran through Chicago. Chicago stood no chance. I have your sports professor staff in the game. I told you earlier. about pca and alex bregman how about this i'll give it to you a little better their top three spots in the lineup. when you had Michael Bush. to pca and alex bregman when it came bind oh for 20.
Speaker: Oh. or 20. Zero for 20 from their top three hitters. The entire team managed only one run and eight hits over 10 games. It don't matter what you do. You are not.
Speaker: going to win that series next up For the Padres, the hottest team on earth is the 103. Wynn Brewers and Jacob Mizorowski. They play the first game Saturday. At 8 .30.
Speaker: PM. So now we move it into the game that is coming on right now. and They're in warm -ups. And the game. uh the series That has been the only good series thus far.
Speaker: of these playoffs, which I'll get to in my. rant about this. whole playoffs here in a second. But this has been a good series. The Braves. Came out. One game, one, it was on Don Mattingly.
Speaker: who wanted his closer, Johan Duran, to pitch three. innings. What the hell are you doing, Don? This is not 1985 anymore. You're not just running these pictures out here. For all these innings, they're specialized for a reason. In 61 appearances.
Speaker: Um. this year. He had only given up one home run to any right -hand hitter. All year long. But you put him in for three innings. and something bad bad might happen. What bad happened? Austin Riley took him deep.
Speaker: for a 3 -1 home run. to go from three to two. to five to three. to win the game. Red. After. This happens. What happens next? Game two.
Speaker: Runners on! Philly's Don Mattingly is talking to Christopher Sanchez and the infield. They're trying to tell them, just make sure you get one out. Don't do anything and like letting them end up safe.
Speaker: Unfortunately, Sean Murphy beat. Alex Boehm's throw to second base. or so for him to be safe. One batter later. Oh no, I know Nationals fans.
Speaker: were celebrating and laughing all over the country. I know Amul was doing jogs around his neighborhood. When Bryce Harper. Unfathomably. Horribly. horrendously almost became the goat and not in a good way more like the jackass Of the Philadelphia town. They may have rode his ass out this offseason if he didn't come back later.
Speaker: He misses. a judge He misjudges a fly ball. One of the worst misjudges I've seen in history. Just slow played it, backed up like it wasn't going nowhere, hits off his glove. They score some runs to go up. And now it comes down to the next inning.
Speaker: Thank - Goodness, for the Phillies at least. That Kyle Schwarber. Don't give a rat's ass about anything. other than hitting home runs. Because he hits a solo blast. 447 feet.
Speaker: And then Harper comes up. looking for atonement. And again, lucky he did because if they'll throw batteries at Santa Claus. They'd have been doing a lot worse to go as Bryce Harper. They may have been throwing, they may have been using actual bullets. I'm not sure many anyways. Harper didn't let it get to that. He hits a home run, ties up the game at three. They go to the 10th inning and boom. gets redemption as well.
Speaker: For the earlier letting him be safe a second, he hits a home run. You win! the game Billy's come back. win game two, and now we are at game three. What a crazy series so far. Oh, and by the way, I forget i failed to mention that last night the series.
Speaker: was the It was all ended on an overturned ABS call, which is the first time it's ever happened. An end of a game has happened. We're real new to it. calling the tremendous call so Amul, since you are a Nationals fan and I know how much you hate...
Speaker: Bryce Harper. Talk to us! about this series so far i mean look he thus far he is doing what he said he would do Okay? let's Let's walk this back.
Speaker: He said he would bring a title back to DC. Okay, the the title hasn't materialized yet. that's okay because he's not on the team and that's fine. But, um you know, we don't want him on the team.
Speaker: you know, we got James Wood now. but ah I mean, technically he did bring a title to D .C. All it took was just him leaving the team. Yeah, it did. And again, my apologies to those Nats fans that I texted right before this podcast that I sent the podcast who was like, hey, tune in. We may not talk much about the Nats, but surprise.
Speaker: Here we are. ah So, um... you know the I think the Braves, the Atlanta baseball team as you put it, Probably. and uh winning again.
Speaker: Because when I track that call, when I track that series, and I i try to, like... own air on like what The locals are saying. to a degree, because that helps me understand the series a little bit more. Like the minute, like the, the storylines within the storylines.
Speaker: And the bluff that I'm getting, bottom line up front, for those that aren't familiar with the chat, is... Uh, basically Don Mattingly can't put together a lineup to save his life.
Speaker: I mean he can. But like... He doesn't put together decent. And for whatever reason, I don't know if... Who was leading off last night out of curiosity? Because... Every Phillies fan wanted Alec.
Speaker: Alex? Alec Boehm? It's bo to lead off. Because he was the only person that wasn't he was the only player that wasn't hitting .207.
Speaker: Trey Turner. Trey Turner. treasurer Yeah, no one wants Trey Turner leading off. Trey Turner is also leading off tonight. Trey Turner is also hitting 125. Yes.
Speaker: and And when you have Alec Boehm, who's hitting like... He's getting a little bit better. He's getting 375. Yeah, he's hitting 370. Why not lead him off? Yes, I know, you're goingnna you're going to give up speed, top of the lineup. But you got some power. You got some pop.
Speaker: you might as well. And JT RealMuto, I can't believe I even suggested that the Nats pick him up ages ago, maybe when he was in his prime. But, like, please, like, I'm sorry, but he's the Conor Long on your team. Like, he's the guy you don't want on your team anymore that's somehow still on your team. and is still getting reps because somebody's got to pay him.
Speaker: So... um I think the ah the Braves are going to win out. Uh, today and they'll advance. I think that's a little hard. app I think Real Melchior is still one of the top five catchers in the league. But anyways, AP. I was channeling what what Philly's locals fans were saying, that a lot of them don't want him in the lineup.
Speaker: so Okay, cool. I can tell you. yeah cool Yeah. By the way, our pitching matchup tonight, Aaron Nola starting for the Phillies. The Braves are going with an opener.
Speaker: in Ray Kerr, but they have both Tyler Molle and Chris Sale available tonight. Oh, give me give me sale. I can't wait for you. Give me sale.
Speaker: you did And, hey, Amol, you know this very well. Chris Sale will. Yes. They literally begged to go into the game. No, and speaking of eating crow, remember, I ate crow, right, when I said, hey, the Red Sox don't want him, and he had a he had a career -reassured resurgence in ATL.
Speaker: And I... i've got friends down atl y 'all know i love you but like seriously Um... Your should be starting tonight. like Bring them on after the opener.
Speaker: guaranteed victory. I was will say that. If you want me to go over the lineup here, for the Phillies, you have Trey Turner, Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Alec Boehm hitting fourth, Stott hitting fifth. De La Cruz, Sosa, Reamuto's batting eighth, and then Crawford at nine.
Speaker: Um, For the Braves, Drake Baldwin, Ronald Acuna, Matt Olsen. Michael Harris. ah Mauricio Dubon, Yastrzemski, Alex Riley batting seventh, Albies, and then Dominic Smith, the DH, batting last. Some deep lineups. Some deep lineups. That's all I'll say. Drake Baldwin's in the Red Sox.
Speaker: Just saying. let's look Let's look at it, guys. We have the postseason picture upon us. We've gone through every single wild card round. AP, who you got in the winner tonight? I'm taking Atlanta. I i think they get it it get the job done.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm with y 'all at home. Uh, yeah, well, you said Atlanta too, right? give Give me ATL. Give me ATL. Yeah, at home. I'm going to go with Atlanta coming back and winning game three. I just think the Phillies, I don't know. I just don't think they're – they're They're... Aside from all the Don Mattingly stuff, aside from failure every year, year after year after year in the playoffs.
Speaker: I just don't think they're the better team. than Atlanta. um And while their pitching staff may be better. and would hold up better in the divisional round. They got to get there first. And I don't think Atlanta lets them, which hampers the series because I do think if Philadelphia was able to get by, I do think they have a rotation that would be able to go up against the Dodgers. I do not think that much so.
Speaker: that about atlanta so let's go ahead and talk about that and I was going to say, I think Atlanta does, actually, with Chris. sale Tyler, Molly's having a career resurgence right now. And they and they've got to. A lot of young guys that are pitching very well. So I think Atlanta can actually, either team could actually do it.
Speaker: to the phillies right now at this point okay well let's well let's talk about it because it's divisional round preview time so let's go ahead and pick our divisional round winners uh going around the horn uh which since the game is starting let's just make this quick Amol, pick your four division game winners. Your championship game and your World Series all at once, please.
Speaker: Okay, four division game winners. I'm going to go with... Just do division for now. Just do division for now. Okay, give me for the NL division, I'm going to give me the Brew Crew. For the AL, I'm going to say give me Tampa.
Speaker: I'm going to ride with the Tampa Brew Crew ah like Milwaukee World Series. And I'd like... Here's what I like as much. As I have a soft spot for Tampa and I know people in Tampa.
Speaker: I'm thinking that Milwaukee. ah could pull it out. I will say though, I think it's a toss -up. Reality is, and I will say this on the live show too, when you guys have when we have the live show in a week or two.
Speaker: But, um you know, I think it's a toss up and it'll go seven games. okay so Before we get there, do you have anything in the divisional round that you see that might stand out? Or is everything going to be pretty straightforward?
Speaker: I think the stocks are going to upset the... uh uh guards and tampa's gonna uh uh beat the yanks Dodgers will beat ah Atlanta. Milwaukee will beat – well, Milwaukee could beat San Diego. It depends on how hot they get. uh but sure let's go with milwaukee and then milwaukee to la
Speaker: the rest of what we've done. so All right, cool. No, just wanted to make sure I got that there because... I do want to talk about just a couple of the games you mentioned there. I agree with you. Chicago White Sox upsetting the Guardians.
Speaker: And I have to say it now after I heard Bobby G tell AP and I that last night on the show, admitting that his own team was going to lose. I was like, all right, well, I guess I got to go. I have no choice but to go with the White Sox now. Especially if Tanner might be pitches.
Speaker: Yes, yes. We know that. We know that. ah And then I've got the Rays as well over the Yankees. I think the Rays are the much better team. I think the Yankees still got a lot of injuries. Not sure if we're even going to see Aaron Judge. As I mentioned, The Braves, I don't think, have enough pitching for the Dodgers.
Speaker: And then the Padres and Brewers. Look at this. I see it this way. The 103 win Brewers are usually the team that has the most wins is not the one that wins. in the playoffs or wins the championship, it's usually the one that goes with the most momentum. And a lot of times it's a wildcard team. So I'm picking the Padres. Over. The Brewers. um And then you move on to a divisional or a championship series.
Speaker: With the Dodgers. I'm taking the Padres over the Dodgers. They won the three games, or they won 203 in September, and again have the hotter team coming in. And then I look to the AL side, and I do not think that the White Sox are enough yet. I do think they're a year early. I think the Rays will beat the White Sox to set up the World Series, which I'll go to UAP and leave it there, and I'll save my World Series pick for a second. Where are you here?
Speaker: All right, so first half inning is over. They did give up a face runner to Kyle Schwarber. Kyle Schwarber is singled, but the Braves did get out of the inning, so we're going to the bottom of the first. Great job.
Speaker: AL side, I'm going White Sox. I don't have any faith in the Guardians right now, especially postseason Guardians. And the White Sox, again, nothing to lose. So I'm going to go Chicago White Sox.
Speaker: I'll go Tampa Bay Rays. But that that series goes five games, I think. I think it goes all the way to five. um
Speaker: ALCS. I'm actually gonna go to the White Sox. I'm going to go to White Sox to make the World Series. Wow! Wow. A reversal of fortunes. i are On our baseball show, I originally picked Ray's Cubs.
Speaker: And the race to win the World Series? The Cubs are out, so I can't do that anymore. Thanks. And again, just... My theory on the White Sox, did they? they are very much...
Speaker: this team. From three years ago. With nothing to lose. So give me the White Sox to get to the World Series out of the American League. Out of the National League, I think the winner of tonight's game actually beats the Dodgers.
Speaker: Oh, hey now. oh nodger And the Dodgers are one and done. So I'm going to say it's Atlanta, but if it is Philadelphia, either way. uh Philly, Atlanta. It doesn't matter. I think the winner of that game ends up beating the Dodgers anyway.
Speaker: I got the Padres over the Brewers. The Brewers have to show it to me. they have to prove it to me that they can they can uh, they could get the job done because it Unfortunately, the stigma with the Brewers is they can't get the job done in October. so Um...
Speaker: I'm going with the Padres because they're the hot team right now. I want to ask you something, if i answer slide if I can slide a question in. Real quick. Go ahead, AP. No, go ahead. I was just wondering. all Go ahead AP.
Speaker: i would say and then nlcs you know what i'll ride the hot team too How about a White Sox Padres World Series? WAAAAAAA oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo That would be awesome. Okay. All right.
Speaker: Interesting. All right. all right spot ares All right, so hold hold on. I need to make sure. White Sox, Padres, World Series, and you know what? Just because I don't think it's the White Sox time yet, I'll give it to the Padres.
Speaker: The Padres finally get the job done All right, San Diego over the white shot. everyone love to see it Just because I would love to see it.
Speaker: Yeah. i was go I had the Rays versus the Brew Crew, Milwaukee, and I was giving it to the Brew Crew, Milwaukee. I thought that Milwaukee was going to win it all. But I got a question for you all.
Speaker: are we all scared because nationally this is what i'm seeing a lot of people are picking the Rays versus Milwaukee. So... got Granted, this was before any games were played.
Speaker: So I wonder if now we're sort of – I mean, once the Sox beat – the the guardians uh you know in fact i may end up changing my pick i'll be honest i may end up changing my pick but But, you know, ah are we Are we shying away from that now that games have been played? Because everyone else nationally is picking that. i'll tell you I'll tell you who is trying to shy away from that, and that is the MLB owners.
Speaker: Yeah. worse No, I agree with you. The worst nightmare for the MLB owners in these labor talks would be to have a... Ray's Brewers World Series.
Speaker: I agree with you 100%. Because that would take out the theory that the the evil empire, Dodgers, Yankees, Mets are actually running things when lower teams can win without as much payroll.
Speaker: Yeah. Yep. All right, well, look, hey. How about this? I am going to go with, I know last time on the show, I went with the storyline. I agreed with AP and Amul. I went with the Brewers and the Rays. I wanted to see, you know, the low budget teams. I wanted to see, um you know, somebody win their first title. Within!
Speaker: The Padres got hot. Then the Padres, who I said was a sleeper team, got hot. And so then I started thinking. Meh. The Padres are going to beat the Brewers. beat the brewers So as I said,
Speaker: Padres take off the Dodgers. Go to the World Series versus the Rays. And I am going to give it to... The Tampa! Bay, Rays, pull it out. No, I'm just joking.
Speaker: Switched it up! San Diego Padres win it all. I don't like that big I know it just doesn't feel right. i don't actually think that the san diego padres can win I don't know. i just you You had a shit you had't choice to pick the Rays and you decided, even I was convinced you were you were picking the Rays. I am picking the Rays. I am picking the Rays. Here's the thing, if you pick the Padres and they win, you look like a god, Omar. Because you're the one who predicted them to get into the postseason. You know what? You're right. I got to stick with my big.
Speaker: San Diego over Tampa Bay. You are completely right, AP. You got to stick with my pick. I want to be a i want to be the sports. Professor. the the god i'm just I'm just glad we're not actually like voting for anything right now. We are. We're voting World Series and we're also voting up next. AL and AL Cy Young so we can get the heck up out of here. so AP, we'll start with you. Who is your AL? Actually, hold on. let me give you that Let me give you the odds first, everybody.
Speaker: in our AL Cy Young race. Cam Schittler. And. Dylan Seas are your two favorites. And yes, I know I say his name wrong. I don't care. I'll call him Seas.
Speaker: And Dylan sees it now. huh Most people are saying that cam slip
Speaker: Six is the favorite. Yeah. Some are saying he's the favorite, but... there The line is actually off between him and Toronto Blue Jays. Dylan sees. so we'll see what happens here let me remove this off of here real quick get us back to the front page here. There you go. All right, show.
Speaker: Who are AL and NL Cy Young picks? AP, we will start with you again in the AL. The line is off in the NL. Jacob Mizorowski is a... Far and ahead favorite. Over Chris Sale, who are your two Cy Youngs?
Speaker: ah So the reason why it's off the book, Omar, is because it's pretty much set in stone. It's Cam's slipper. That's my fault. So Cam Schlittler is going to win the AL MVP. um bar none at this point And... Honestly, he should get... if you if you yeah sayang
Speaker: Honestly, he should be getting AL MVP votes, if I'm being honest, because he's a big reason why the Yankees are playing as good as they are. so um i think I think... that that should at least be a little a thought or something for for that so um and outside it's jacob mizerowski although i would love to see chris sale win another And I'll say young.
Speaker: Yeah, you're not wrong about Schlitz. He went 14 -6 with a 1 .95 ERA, which is immaculate in this day and age. And 239 strikeouts, you usually don't see people go over 200 strikeouts either. So really good. um And then the fact that he went 2 -1 with a .74 ERA in four starts against their rival Boston. And then I know it's not a postseason award. But when you go in and do what you did to Boston. a couple of years ago, right after you finished the season.
Speaker: um you know against all the other teams look it's hard to vote against him um uh the reason I want to say that the the line was off. is because you know what I made the most immaculate pick ever. When I picked...
Speaker: LEST All -Star year. Dylan sees. as the As the most important player for the Toronto Blue Jays. And here we are a year and a half later when everybody told me I was wrong and everybody told me I was stupid and everybody told me I wasn't going to get it right.
Speaker: Dylan sees... was the mvp for the toronto blue jays led them all year led them in the cy young race i know schlitz is going to win it but my vote is for dylan sees of the toronto blue jays In the NL, there's no other choice but Mizorowski. Of the losing record Toronto Blue Jays. Let's just throw that out there.
Speaker: that's i neverw I never told you that you were wrong for picking... the for picking sees I did. I was surprised. that What do you remember, sir? What do you remember? Please. I remember you a pay chair and Mike Wiebe both all being on this show laughing at me.
Speaker: When I picked Dylan Seas as the most important person for the Toronto Blue Jays. By the way. Just a little bit of an update. Yes, Drake Baldwin flew out to start the inning, but... Aaron Nola gave up back -to -back walks to Acuna and Matt Olsen. Right on time. no Michael Harris, who has a 500 batting average this postseason, is up with two men on.
Speaker: Ooh, very nice. How many outs? How many hours? one Yeah, he, yeah. Drive in a run, Michael. Drive in a run. and after and And they just had a mound visit, so...
Speaker: Because he threw back -to -back balls. they're just talking they just want to talk about what they're doing for dinner Sayonara, man. Cy Young and MVP, let's twist the knife. No, no MVP, just Cy Young. Just Cy Young right now. Let's twist the knife.
Speaker: Red Sox fans, I know you all will hate me for this, but let's twist the knife. He's going to do it. Because... We deserve it for once again.
Speaker: tempting fate. Give me Schwitz. In the AL. And Mizoroski in the NL, please. ah We already did a World Series, and we'll talk about MVP here in a few minutes. We are going to MVP. Real quick, real quick. Michael Harris just did it.
Speaker: Michael Harris just hit a three run homer. Told you, Atlanta. Told you! 3 -0 Atlanta. Told you! Oh, my. We need to see a replay of this. The cow in right center is not angry tonight. And for those that live in Atlanta, y 'all know what I mean. um If you don't.
Speaker: If you ever go down to Chewist Park. They have a Chick -fil -A cow that isn't posted in Right Center. And like the way it's lit, depending on how it's lit, he either looks happy.
Speaker: or angry. they are Those are the only two emotions. So it's it's the most hysterical thing to me. What's like just the most hysterical thing to me. When I cut a game down there um a couple years, a couple years, oi, eight years ago, oi.
Speaker: and i lived in ah when I lived in But um yeah, congrats to the Braves for taking the lead. They're playing the replay right now. Michael Harris digs down into the dirt to golf that ball out of the right side of the stadium. Wow, 3 -0 lead. Atlanta, Aaron Nola is in some trouble here in the first inning.
Speaker: Oh, my God. no you Did it hit the cow? This is what Philly fans were scared of, that having Aaron Nola. start this game because you didn't know which Aaron Nola we were going to get. Now we know.
Speaker: Did it hit the cow though? Because if it didn't hit the cow. you know. Anyway. um NL and AL MVP. NL and AL MVPs.
Speaker: ah I said for PCA, I said PCA for. be ah for MVP. I guess that was my fault. All right, PCA and Otani are the two favorites here. Otani's obviously been injured a little bit. PCA had a 40 -40. sees them um and then in the al ah Your favorites are Jordan Alvarez, obviously, who's a huge favorite. over Junior Caminero. Alright, now go ahead.
Speaker: Junior Caminero. I had already picked. I had already looked at the odds before I ended up figuring it out. So Caminero in the AL and PCA in the NL. Oh, so you are taking Caminero. Why are you doing Caminero? Talk to us.
Speaker: Um... Because I feel like... Yordan Alvarez. you know has had his day. And I think it's time for Junior Caminero to...
Speaker: to to get us, yes, yes. Yes, also. Over the guy who's going to win the Triple Crown. Wait, is he? is I don't think he's going to win the Triple Crown, is he?
Speaker: yeah you know he yeah He leads two of the stats at the very least. I don't think he's going to get home runs. Yeah, so he's not going to get the triple crown. He's also a big reason why the Astros are even in the postseason.
Speaker: Big facts, big facts. And they look at that and it's like, well, since the Astros are technically in... we kind of can't ignore. You're done? Whereas if they had missed the postseason, yes, we can throw Junior Caminero in there and probably give it to him.
Speaker: Well, so so they're probably going to give it attempt to him since the Astros are out now. in the now So Jordan Alvarez.
Speaker: actually did not. lead the league in home runs because he was one behind.
Speaker: My man, who I hate that we lost, Mr. Pete Alonzo, had 43 home runs. Oh, my God, what's happening? He wants everyone to come to Camden Yards. Go to Camden Yards. He'll give you a personal tour now, apparently. And you know what? This is a lot closer than I thought, gentlemen. Jordan Alvarez had 42 home runs and 106 RBIs, but Camden Yarrow has 42 home runs tied and 101 RBIs, only five behind. And, yes, he had. um about a 40 percent less in batting average but that's closer than i thought it would be
Speaker: Who you got? I mean... As much as I hate to say it because it just makes me sick to my stomach, it's going to be more than that. It's going to be your Don and I hate it. um I would love it for it to be Junior Caminero, but...
Speaker: It's not going to be. It's going to be Jordan, and i it makes me sick to my stomach. Um, And outside, it's PCA. You can argue Shohei Ohtani all you want to.
Speaker: but guess what he missed him he missed the majority of of uh september which automatically takes them out of the running. so um Unfortunately for the Otani elitists.
Speaker: Um... It's going to be PCA in the National League. The Otani elitist can root for Murakami. um And the White Sox. And and honestly honestly, it should be. It should be on PCA this year. As I mentioned, 40 -40 season. Not very often that players get a 40 -40 season. That's very hard to do. 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases. so i won't say I will say, though, Matt Olsen's name should have been thrown in there.
Speaker: for the way he played this year Okay, there you go. I like that. I'd agree with that too. I'd agree with that too. But I'm more of a piece of cake. Otani missed too much time during the season, and we need a change. Otani has won too many times anyways over the past few years. Give it to somebody new. Give it to PCA. I'm only distraught. Because we...
Speaker: fucking traded PCA away to the Cubs. Imagine if we had Pete Alonzo. PCA, Lindor, Soto, Carson Benz, bro, we'd have a World Series team right now. But because we suck. And we're the Mets. We don't. We're in Cancun along with the Red Sox and the damn the damn Rangers. All of us are in Cancun together. We'll see you down there. Hit me up and send your frogs if you want. I'll be signing autographs.
Speaker: All weekend long. Wait a minute. Y 'all ain't in Cancun. You weren't even close to the postseason. You're not in Cancun. You're in Galveston. You're in Galveston. You're in Galveston. Dang. He said he chose Berkeley U, man. He said Galveston. Who sent you to Galveston with that dirty -ass water?
Speaker: Nothing good happens in Galveston. Nothing good happens in Galveston. I will also be signing autographs tomorrow at a show that I'm not involved in.
Speaker: One more! Tell them about your show tomorrow one more time. i'm I'm famous, too. First and foremost, I'm famous, too. but um You're probably a little more famous than me at this point. So tomorrow at seven.
Speaker: at Delray Artisans Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia, or if you're a music fan, Armandria. ah for those that get that reference, props to you.
Speaker: But now that... um Green Day has officially woken up. Uh, uh... you know, wanted to, you know, let you guys know this will be my second show.
Speaker: and feel free to come by. hang out. I may be you know really busy, but I will give you a hug. I will shake your hand. uh just want to be sure that You know you all have a good time.
Speaker: Um, I may be talking to some people who want to sell my art. So if I do. don't mind me i will get to you i promise and if you need me to sign something i will
Speaker: um I don't know where Omar is going to set up shop, but probably he can sign autographs towards the back near the alcove. gift shop. So we can set him up there with a small table and he can just sign whatever he wants. um you can get it authenticated by fanatics i think um i will I will not be taking the spotlight away from my friend tomorrow. I will just be showing up in support with my mom. We're looking forward to a good time at this early fun exhibition, my friend.
Speaker: it'll be fun It'll be fun. You'll have a great time. And for those that can't make it, yeah it's free it's free to come

Speaker: And I might host it one other time. I'm ah i'm trying to... I got to look and see. But it's going to be a packed October. Ladies and gentlemen, feel free to stop on in. Congratulations, man. And one last thing as a non sequitur, bring back the West Wing. If Bradley Whitford is right and he wants to do a limited series, I will happily watch that. So like i you guys know, you might know this. Well, I know Omar knows this, the West Wing.
Speaker: is my favorite show of all time so if you want to bring back that show feel free please It is it isnt his favorite show. I have never watched it. I don't care for... law shows and things like that but out here it's good There we go. All right.
Speaker: Thank you all. We'll see you tomorrow night. Hey Pete! Tell them where they can find you. ah First and foremost, if you saw... Um... uh our nfl college football show what was it monday tuesday last night omar um
Speaker: I just saw something about Alabama that they don't plan on going to Starksville until the morning of the game. And it's and and it's a noon kickoff, by the way. so Why do we do these things to ourselves? Because it's Kalen DeBoer and he don't know nothing. um So keep that in mind if you're betting on that game. ah Aren't you tempting fate? Aren't you tempting fate again? Tempting fate seems to be a thing that's just coming up in today's show. But isn't Bama just tempting fate at that point?
Speaker: they are there They may be. They're they're overlooking it, Mississippi State. but They you better not look over our boy Kamario Taylor. I was going to say they don't realize they have a Heisman Trophy candidate. quarterback there at the Parkville.

Either this week or next. to talk about country box Oliver McCall. will be fighting at 60 years old November 6th. Yes, go ahead, my friend. Real quick, Aaron Nola has given up 21 home runs in Truist Park.
Speaker: the most by a non -brave pitcher. The quiet non -breach pitcher. End. End. The second closest.
Speaker: is Jacob deGrom with 11. No, that doesn't surprise me, though. Jacob deGrom. Aaron Nola 10 more home runs given up in Truist Park than the next closest pitcher.
Speaker: Wow. Wow. the world jacob dick Jacob had a problem with giving up home runs. That's his main thing. That doesn't surprise me at all. He kind of still does.
Speaker: Oh, I bet he does. ah So, again, everybody, make sure you subscribe at Ball and Buds. Also, by the way, I would like to give. uh i would like to um shout out my thing coming up here. Yes, I was going to bring this up.

Speaker: Full distance brewing. Omar will be there. I will be there doing a quick hit. I will not be wearing my red socks. I don't want to get. thrown out. Like I'm not wearing my Red Sox flight jacket. So I'll just wear a regular flight jacket, but feel free. We'll talk baseball.
Speaker: And we'll have him, you know, he'll be signing autographs. I'll sign autographs too. um So it'll be awesome. Yeah, there you go. Exactly. So Full Distance Brewing, Saturday, October 17th from 6 to 8. Your boy Omar, the sports professor, Fonseca, will be hosting a live podcast.

Speaker: um Rebel is a, I'm bringing her up on the sports show because a lot of people may know her from AEW Wrestling. She is actually a personal friend of mine. um And I've known her for about 10 years. She's one of the best people i've I know. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with ALS. If you watch wrestling, she's gone around.
Speaker: um to try to you know um bring awareness to it. Not only her. A good buddy of mine from the military, David Dubois. Shout out to him. as well. He has ALS. There's a walk this weekend.
Speaker: The walk to defeat ALS. Saturday, October 3rd. I...
Speaker: Boop. have to be in DC to do it. You can walk from anywhere. You can create your own team. You can just walk around your house. You can walk around the block. Or if you'd rather donate money, you can do that as well. Let's donate to find a cure. Spread awareness to find a cure. Shout out if you want to donate to Rebel Heart. You can get this bracelet. You can get this T -shirt.
Speaker: If you go to that link below. and support you can also Go to... David Dubois, look up his name, David D -U -B -O -I -S. on ALS .org. If you'd like to join his team, if you're in the D in the DC or any area, or you just want to donate again, it's very important. that we spread the word. Also, Chris Johnson. Former football player came down with ALS this year, so it affects everyone. And we need to find a cure and find the root of this cause.
Speaker: So please, if you can. Donate time, donate money, or just spread the word. Spread the awareness. Today they approved the act for ALS. which funds, Congress funds this more research over the next five years till 2031. So we had a big win today. for that again players to everybody. David.
Speaker: Tuneya. Anybody else dealing with it? I love you. We pray for you. And until next time, we'll catch you after the divisional round here. uh before before the world will patch we'll probably come back before the championship series ah here in a couple weeks. So until then.
