He's got a little message for Hot Take Jake. Is that really the number one overall pick in next year's draft?
Speaker: Ooh. Because if it is, maybe. If it is Tennessee, I feel sorry for you. A little Arch slander. A little Arch. Do you think that they will get rid of Cam Ward to draft Arch Manning? Is that what you're saying right now? I mean, have you seen Cam Ward play? But our spanning in mock drafts isn't even going until 15 right now. They got Trinidad Chambliss first off the board.
Speaker: I mean, makes sense with what's going on. I've even heard some people say Drew Mestemaker is the best quarterback in this class. Mr. I hadn't played for a power forward team before this year. Shout out to that dude.
Speaker: Hey, he's great he's slinging it right now. No, he is. They've seen Oklahoma State the last couple weeks. They've been putting points on the board. so No, you're right. Speaker: ah for the college football playoff. For like one game per round, we did a watch -along live stream for some of the the college football games. so um I think one of the ones we actually one of the ones we did was... I believe Miami Ole Miss, which was a fantastic game. But we are going to do a live watch along.
Speaker: this Saturday night, we're going to be doing it for Notre Dame BYU, which is... a huge game in its own right. I know a lot of people are upset that it's not an SEC game, but this is Notre Dame's first true test of the season. And if you've seen Lock It In in the in our preview show.
Speaker: uh before the season started i picked byu to beat notre dame uh there's a there's also value in it from our show as well. So Scott will be joining me for that. We're going to watch Notre Dame -BYU, see if BYU actually does pull off the upset Saturday night.
Speaker: independence Will you be jumping in on so Saturday night when... uh omar goes left Good. ahead Um. Go ahead and we'll talk. from Okay.

Speaker: And on October 30th, I guess I have to show up. But, ah yeah, so... uh it'll be a del rey uh artisans gallery And I think that starts at seven.
Speaker: So I'll be in a mask. um I don't think I'll be fully dressed up. but ah it's exciting. The theme for November is basically going to be, there is no theme. So everything everything is priced at 125 and under. And let's see a couple of the things. Shout out to.
Speaker: ah some Tampa friends. Oh. Mark and Scott. uh and chris i know they're huge fans of the rays uh and yeah that's about it i think for the moment Um... I just believe.
Speaker: You've been taking the whole damn show. I kind of have. We kind of have. a Next AP and I are going to talk about whatever we want. you know By the way... ah Game two of the ALCS is going on right now. No score in the bottom of the fourth inning right now between the Rays and the Guardians.
Speaker: Yes, thank you for that. We will update you live as you're watching for those that are afraid. it was a watch This is going to take you long right now. my my but Much like Kamal's next showing, this is no theme November.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, which is going to be great. We have no theme on this show. It's just baseball. and talking Yeah, it's just baseball, really. And Omar having technical difficulties at the Wazoo. And i will I will let you know, AP, when I'm down in Oklahoma. to uh show it because i know it'll be it'll be cool to So.
Speaker: just don't come in the summer unless you want to burn your Burn your ass off. I will try not to. Thank you for that tip. That is a very wise tip. Especially in July and August, if it gets into like 110 territory, yeah, don't.
Speaker: no so i've been to I've been to San Antonio in like July, August, where I need to have a cold coffee every 15th. 15 minutes. Like it's crazy. down there. um Omar, are we carrying the show moving forward? Cool. All right. You know what? I got no more time for this banter, brawls, or bravado. Let's go. Talk, Chuck.
Speaker: Salute. Y 'all subscribe to the Best True Crime Podcast. on YouTube at Rock Chalk. um Yo, they got great content there. Love you, girly. All right, look, hey.
Speaker: Happy to be here with my brothers. Yes, impromptu show where you're supposed to be football, but it's baseball right now. So this is going to serve as a watch along and we're going to give our predictions for these series. We'll talk about the World Series. We'll talk about everything that's been happening in the past week, how we got here. So let's start there, gentlemen, how we actually got.
Speaker: Two. These playoff series, obviously from the graphic, everyone can see. that we have the uh guardians versus the rays um and the brewers versus the dodgers the graphic that omar is not currently showing right now ladies and gentlemen um What?
Speaker: You're not showing it. I'm not showing what? The graphic. What graphic? I don't have a graphic. you you talking about I thought you said you had a graphic. You say graphic and there is no graphic.
Speaker: Yeah, he said that, as you can tell from the graphic. I was like, all right. Wait, did I say that?
Speaker: oh Yes, you did. What is happening? Are you okay? I get it. I know it's under the weather, but are you under the weather too? I may be going crazy. I did not realize I said the graphic. My apologies. I have no graphic ready for that. i was just saying oh Someone made him watch that Raiders game last week on repeat. That's why he's having such a bad time. We're not going to talk about that. Hey, hey at least yeah at least you weren't the number one team in the country and got beat by an unranked team. so who I take Jake. You watch him, baby.
Speaker: I'm just glad. I'm just glad you guys didn't sacrifice any goats this week. you know Sorry, that's a throwback to anyone that watched. ah um the uh whatchamacallit Here we go. um let's some lets el it That's an LSU thing. they They do that stuff down there. Yeah.
Speaker: Well, elephant looking too good, Mr. Mr. Ellis, he's one of the best teams in the country. I remember someone saying that. And they lost to Kentucky in overtime, so that's fine.
Speaker: Yeah. Okay. All right. Well, let's keep it moving. Hey, look. If we're going back to the past series, I want to talk about a couple things. I know the... Yankees lost, and the Yankees suck, and I'm so happy that they lost. The Yankees a lose. lose.
Speaker: What do we think about that Jeffrey Mayer? type catch that happened. um It didn't look like it was going to be a home run. But it looked like it was definitely going to be off the wall. My man wasn't going to catch it. And it could have been a different outcome. Yankees fans pissed. They're saying Jeffrey Mayer, part two. Allen, you weren't even old enough.
Speaker: No, I did see Steve Bartman that though. All right, there you equivalent. What do you think about that? give ap some slack uh uh omar give me a piece of slack i mean i have knowledge of that stuff back in the day, so.
Speaker: so it's not it It's not as much as like my football brain, but like. I i did get i did see the the Steve Bartman incident in the NLCS with the Marlins and the Cubs. yeah And that was – that kind of – I'm sure Steve Bartman was watching that game last last week having flashbacks.
Speaker: of what happened in that series. so um Which, you know. Kudos to the Cubs. They made amends. And Steve Bartman, made it they they all made amends and everything. You know water under the bridge at this point, but. um Yeah, it as a team that was actually rooting for the Cubs back then. ah that then I kind of feel for Yankee fans in that. And then the other kind in the other case, I really don't care because, yeah, screw the Yankees.
Speaker: And you're on mute. Omar. Yeah. Over on mute. Facts all day. I think all of us on this program subscribe to Screw the Yankees, so there's no love lost.
Speaker: here You know how I feel. But Amul, what do you think about this Jeffrey Mayer type catch? I don't think he should have been thrown out I don't think he should have been escorted from the – like, look, let's treat him the way Jeffrey – I realize i realized that Stadium – you know, I realized stadium rules change.
Speaker: but if you interfere with the catch that you will be thrown out i respect it i'm fine with it but it's something that's literally identical. that happened. 20 some odd years later.
Speaker: 15 to 20 years later, don't throw the guy out. like i think this gives him a lifetime ban on just Just going to Yankee Stadium or is it all ah stadiums now? I don't know, but I agree with you. Like if I'm trying to reach for the ball in the heat of the moment.
Speaker: I'm not thinking that I'm going over the rail. I'm just trying to catch a home run ball like everyone else. Yeah, it's the is not Spider -Man. You are not going to climb the wall and catch it. Like, it was going foul. Let it, let it you know, I'm sorry. like know you not with the ball Off the wall for a double.
Speaker: Probably. Maybe, but it was trending foul anyway. So I... you know what are you going to do at that point? Yeah. You know? Keep keep the guy, let the guy stay in.
Speaker: you know He didn't do anything wrong. It's fine. Hopefully he can be admitted to Yankees games in the future. And you know the Yankees deserve what they got, basically. Yeah. you know, they weren't fully prepared for the series.
Speaker: and ah the rays. put uh as the kids like to say bta and you know basic basically decided to you know uh hand them what they deserved and and i think the yankees are going to start regressing a little bit um as we especially if we take a year off. ah You know, I think the the Yanks are going to regress quite a bit.
Speaker: and I don't know how far back. But we'll see. Well, there is talk of if... Cashman and or. Boone should be fired now. Apparently Cashman is so in with the Steinbrenners, there's no way... Oh no, um both of ah both of them are going to keep their jobs. yeah Both of them are going to keep their jobs. Yeah, both of them will keep their jobs. Apparently, Hal is not like his father. but The criteria for getting rid of somebody in New York is don't make the playoffs.
Speaker: Right. And then you get a free shopping spree at B &H. shop Shout out to B &H. Here's the thing. good I saw this stat the other night. You look at the last 16 years since the Yankees have won a World Series.
Speaker: Almost every World Series champion except for two. the Rangers and the Dodgers, who were the most recent champions. I've gotten rid of their GM and manager since then. Well, the Rangers have a new manager. but Almost every team that has won a World Series has a new manager and a new GM.
Speaker: The Yankees have not. They're the only team that has kept the same general manager. who's been around since the early 2000s, has only one World Series to show for it,
Speaker: And... They've kept Aaron Boone since the firing of of Joe Girardi. so Yeah. I get it. You want to have stability, I guess, but... you know,
Speaker: Well, because back in the day, your father George would fire you with a heartbeat. Here's the thing. This this is this is just becoming a cycle. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.
Speaker: And the Yankees just keep doing the same thing over and over again. Oh, it's like, oh, we can get to the playoffs because there's no competition in the American League. even without Aaron Judge. But when we get to the playoffs, for some reason, these teams are like, hey, we're going to play actual baseball.
Speaker: And the Yankees can't defend actual baseball. See their series against the Rays for that. That... answer. And now... So it's like... And we're seeing it whole we it we're seeing it. And with the Dodgers too. And I think.
Speaker: um I'm going to break this question up on our show tomorrow night. but i'll Go ahead and bring it up here. uh Are we seeing teams like even the smaller market teams start to to use more of the fundamentals of baseball rather than just the analytics? and I think we are.
Speaker: I think we are. i think the I think the Yankees are... Looking around and seeing other teams take Michael Jordan's secret stuff. That's a deep cut. For those that get that, congrats. For the for yeah for those that don't get that, you are too young to watch this show. um and ah
Speaker: You know, they don't have any secret stuff. Even the the Red Sox could beat them a little bit. But they ended up losing because they weren't ready, which is fine. They're never going to be ready. It's fine. I can.
Speaker: I can do 20 minutes on that. But... with the Yankees. I just think they're going to be ill -equipped from 28 onwards. because I've been I'm just saying this without having a proper look at their minors.
Speaker: or you know i think alex cora said he if if cash if boone was fired he wanted ah to be hired by the Yankees. We all know why. Like there's there's only one reason why you would want to be hired by the Yankees.
Speaker: you know at that point. it's It's so that you can beat the Red Sox. And uh... You know, I just... I'm i'm looking forward to seeing. whether it's going to be Tampa or Cleveland. I have an idea of who.
Speaker: I'm looking forward also to seeing The Brewers. I was listening to the game on the way home last night. I was ah out shooting. And... Got a little bit of Astro last night and...
Speaker: heard the game on the way home and Like, honestly. very, very proud of the the Brewer's bullpen. I think they're... bullpen yeah era is 0 .2 uh which i think is the record right now or or any somebody check me on that Last night, four innings of perfect baseball from the do from the Brewers bullpen last night. Right.
Speaker: like Like, how do you – I mean, that's fantastic. Oh, no, wait. It was five innings. Five innings. Never mind. It was five innings. It was five innings. Like, like... You know, I remember saying on this podcast that like, hey, on the show that, hey, listen, as Otani goes, so do the Dodgers.
Speaker: Otani is about to get benched. He's about to... to he He missed Amazon Prime Day, so he's going to go do some shopping for a little bit. and then probably head back to you know. Or I'll just ride the part for a little bit. We'll talk about that in a little bit. We're going to talk about if Otani should be benched for the rest of the series or not. But yes, you're right. uh those things did happen let's talk about a couple more things before we get to these series chicagobo
Speaker: Chicago's magical season ending for their arch rival, Cleveland. Obviously, I thought they were a year ahead of time and it seems like they were. But a lot of people had the them going a lot farther. Even Bobby G had them beating his guardians.
Speaker: But the Guardians pulled it out. Now, a lot of people are questioning whether they can hang with the Rays. But they've questioned that about every AL team. this season. uh so we'll see what happens there what did y 'all think about chicago's magical run I called it at the beginning of the season. I had the Rays being a wildcard team.
Speaker: in our In almost every preview I did, i had the I had the White Sox being being a wildcard team. I didn't think they were going to compete in the American League Central all season long.
Speaker: um but I felt that they were on the feed deal They were my surprise to maybe get that last spot, that sixth seed and seed. and it be a playoff team. and You know, turns out they were better. Like you said, Omar, they were better. that people thought they were ahead of schedule. um Yeah. And there's a lot to there's a lot to love if you're a White Sox fan. because This is just the beginning. They have a lot of young talent.
Speaker: Murakami, if he stays... I know it's only a two -year contract, but if he gets more – Yeah, he's good. and If he gets an extension with the White Sox. I mean...
Speaker: I think you will. That's your centerpiece for the next, you know, five to ten years if he stays. yeah but Um... And then the the White Sox are in a good spot, especially in a division that...
Speaker: Can't seem to figure... out how to win games throughout the season. I mean, the Royals were awful. The twins are the twins. Uh... Who knows what happened to the who knows what happens to what happened to the Tigers this year because they were supposed to be the favorite.
Speaker: Um... And, you know, Steven Vogt continues to win in Cleveland, his third straight division title. And now you've got the White Sox who have a young core in there. they're starting to play fundamental baseball. so
Speaker: uh again the teams that have played fundamental baseball and there there's been very few of them And all of them have made the postseason this year. so ah Aside from one L .A. team. that um And the eightin the the two biggest markets, i go figure, are the teams that don't play fundamental baseball. But... Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. Amen. Magical season. I would say beware the magical season because that's something a co -host of mine would always say. but um I have a good feeling that the White Sox are not going to be that next year, especially in a division that is still...
Speaker: Up in the air. I think it's a taste. You're still on mute, Omar. You're still on mute. Yeah. You're not having a White Sox repeat as well.
Speaker: Yeah. I think this is meet to the extent, but I do think that they are going to be very competitive. Uh... when we eventually get baseball back together.
Speaker: Uh... The Rays just scored bottom four. that They're about to score it again. So it's 1 -0 about to be 2 -0. Whoa, it's 3 -0. Yeah, three and nothing. But um I think...
Speaker: if the White Sox play this right. And that's a big F, capital I -F. in bold letters, italicize it if you must, put it into cursive. Um,
Speaker: but If they can extend Murakami, if they can keep their key pieces together, This might be as some of y 'all like wait to go to dinner. from time to time and have three -piece meals and perhaps you have an aperitif you know right before your meal that's what this is that's what this season is for the white socks and for the white socks faithful Um, I think that if they can keep the band together more or less.
Speaker: Uh, I think we're looking at, and I'm watching Cleveland play. I feel like Cleveland and and the White Sox match up really, really well. And so... I'm not going to go as far as saying San Diego. you know, Dodgers, that rivalry or maybe Red Sox, Yankees. or maybe even Mets Phillies.
Speaker: but like that could easily go like right underneath that. Echelon. in terms of rivalries. So I think the... The best is yet to come. I will say that I wouldn't be surprised if they take a step back.
Speaker: ah In 28, I'm pushing past 27 because I don't think we're going to have a season. But... um you know they might take a slight step back. But to me, it'll only be to take a step forward, if that makes sense.
Speaker: So ah sometimes you've got to go back a step just to to move forward. I think that's what the White Sox will do. I just don't know what... Aperitif means it sounds like something me and a lady would do at night. But that's - It's the drink you have before dinner, my friend. Okay, all right.
Speaker: It's the drink you have before dinner. It's the pre appetizer. I've been known to drink a lot of ladies before dinner, so we'll just keep that to a minimum. Okay, we're not going to touch that. We're not going to touch that. Think of what the Astros Rangers has become in recent years. Yeah. be what the White Sox Guardians ends up getting into.
Speaker: Yeah. I mean, and it wouldn't surprise me. It really wouldn't surprise me, especially if the Rangers get better. I'm rooting for the Rangers to get better and the Astros to get worse because... you know,
Speaker: You got to bang foul poles, not trash cans. I'm sorry, I will always hate on the Astros. Well, let's move on to the Let's give you an update here. As Amul said...
Speaker: The Rays are up 3 -0. Caminero, Junior Caminero, walked to start off the inning. Mesa Jr. grounded into a fielder's choice. to second.
Speaker: Carmen Nero was out. Tampa Bay challenged. and the call was overturned. for him to stay on base. Simpson reaches on an infield single. Mesa Jr. to third. It followed with Mesa Jr. scoring on a folding error.
Speaker: By Jose Ramirez. yeah which gave the second and third base safe as well by the runners than Hicks. single to center, Simpson and Williams scored two runs. It is now 3 -0 Tampa Bay Rays over the Cleveland Guardians. End of the fourth inning going into the fifth.
Speaker: And that air was, it was for for you hockey fans out there, it was right through the five hole. It went straight through his legs. Like he completely missed it. Season is in full effect, my friend. It is. It is. right well Let's, uh, oh, go ahead. No, go ahead. No, I was going to share.
Speaker: The bracket, since y 'all wanted to test me earlier, I found the bracket. Don't test me. All right, I got a graphic. You have bums. um Here we go. We got a graphic. Just keep it. Keeping you honest, Omar. Just keeping you honest. I will find a graphic. In between all those appartements you've been having.
Speaker: i've had a few episodes today my friend i can tell you oh boy i don't with him Look, that will be that will be for the sports professor after dark, which will eventually debut probably during the baseball season.
Speaker: the hiatus of the The lockout, the baseball lockout. The sports professor enjoys and libations at any point in time. You know this. Anyways. It's gonna be another show you do. It's just going to be another show you do. but We got guardians raised. We just talked about it. Look, Cleveland leads 1 -0.
Speaker: winning the other day over the Rays, a surprising win to most people. And then on the other side, Dodgers Brewers. And Amul brought something up in the background, which we'll talk about in a second, but the Brewers are up 2 -0.
Speaker: And this is surprising to a lot of people. But what I want to talk about when we're moving into this is how about that pitching matchup we had. The Miz. versus Scooble.
Speaker: Oh, my God. What a pitching matchup that was. And I know that obviously the Brewers won that game 2 -1. But just, I mean, it's amazing. And and there was actually a stat I read.
Speaker: Um... that And I don't remember exactly what it was because I don't have it in front of me. but it had something to do with a reigning Cy Young and a former Cy Young. There had never been a time.
Speaker: where they had like pitched or it was like one other time that these two kind of pitchers have pitched against each other So we were seeing a generational. matchup here.
Speaker: uh when we looked at that so what do y 'all think about the The Brewers -Dodgers series. I'm in. Pitching rules the day, doesn't it? Like, I was ecstatic. I i texted you guys and I said, gimme Miz. Because you know me, I used to pitch growing up. And... I mean...
Speaker: It's... Like... That sort of stuff is awesome. No. that I can strike you out still. um But that isn't the point, ladies and gentlemen. but He's off. drinking aperitifs as we know. So, um...
Speaker: You know, I'm not going to even go there right now. I'm not going to. I know where you're going and we're not even touching it. I'm just going to show you. Just a little Bacardi and my friend. AP and I will carry the rest of this show, my friend. It's okay. um And so,
Speaker: Okay. Cheers. You know, with the the pitching matchup, I was like, I didn't even count on Scooble. I didn't even think he could hold his own. Because... his pitches seem off the plate.
Speaker: they He was not... you know, hitting his mark the way he normally does. i um I truly believe Scooble is on the downswing of his career. Even though, like, okay, sure, he's, you know, the tiger's...
Speaker: or Or yeah, I do. I do. I do. I think he's on the downside. His postseason metrics. He's one of the best postseason pitchers of all time.
Speaker: does it Look, it's all about what you did for me lately. and what he did for me lately. is and press Nobody. Miz outshone him in every... like And then the bullpen, like AP said before we got on.
Speaker: Five innings. Five innings. Scoreless. And I mean, you can't... you can't have that like The Dodgers are... I will maybe give the Dodgers a game. Maybe because it's in Chavez Ravine.
Speaker: But as the kids like to say, the Dodgers are cooked, basically. It's it's the Brewers. that If the Brewers stumble, then they might fall. We all know that saying. But... um You know, the if the Brewers, rest of their pitching staff can hold their own.
Speaker: And we're looking at four games, maybe five. So. Great series. Great series. I will say this. You're obviously seeing something different than I'm seeing.
Speaker: But i do I do want to say that in the postseason, and yes, maybe it's not the same as the regular season, but in the postseason, Tarek Skubal is up there with Bob Gibson and other pitchers in the yeah ERA.
Speaker: that he has, which was like a, if I remember the article correctly, he had like ah a 2 .14 ERA, a .98 whip. like a 205 record like he is clutch in the postseason and yes yeah in that game and yes, he made a big mistake.
Speaker: by you know leading off that fifth inning with a walk, allowing that sack bunt, which contributed to... Look, it happens. to The greatest of pitchers. I would not say that...
Speaker: He's not a great pitcher because he is going to command at least. $400 million, dollars maybe $500 million dollars in this offseason from some team. I never said he wasn't a great pitcher. I said he might be on the downswing of his career. There's a difference.
Speaker: They're not paying me. $500 million dollars if he only counts. I'm just speaking as, like, someone who used to pitch. Like, there's a difference between. It's a fine difference. You used to pitch like you pitched in high school or something. cool Here's the thing. that want Here's the thing. This is why I hate media bias today because how the hell are we putting a guy in the top percentage of all -time pitchers when he's only pitched in three postseasons?
Speaker: That's a good point. i mean he's only been in three post seasons he's done well yes but he i've These guys, they're mentioning him like they've been in at least a decades. in the postseason.
Speaker: Don't get me wrong. He's a good pitcher. terry's a good pitcher don't get me wrong i'm just saying it's like it's too early to crown him Like... we've We've done this to guys so so many times and then they end up falling off. It's like, come on now. we we can Yeah, but he's been pitching for like five years now. He's proven. I get it. we want to We want to push the next big thing. He's does he's the best pitcher in the American League, and baseball doesn't really have a face of the.
Speaker: the league other than Shohei. but it's like... Is he really as good as people think? Kenny, Kenny, Kenny pinch with. some of these Pitchers who pitch back in the day.
Speaker: I don't think so. Name seven. World Series. Give me a more Madonna. Actually, I won't pitch him for me in games. I will pitch for the Brewers.
Speaker: And not the Dodgers, that's for sure. Oh, man. Shout out, Canteen. Thank you for tuning in. in My brother says Ray's cooking right now. Freddie P throwing some heat. Yeah, he didn't do that on the Mets, but he decided to get on a playoff team and start playing. Well, that's how that goes. All right. Let's move it on.
Speaker: We talked about the Guardians and raised 3 -0, raised over the Guardians. Brewers and Dodgers. Amul, you had an interesting theory. oh Yes. Would you like to? Yes.
Speaker: Give us that theory. So based off of you and I have talked a lot about conspiracy theories i love and i i I shared one with you with you one time and you were like, this is awful.
Speaker: and yeah I don't believe in them, but I love them. I love them. right i I think I may have shared it on my personal account over to you. ah But um um I'll have to, sit my phone's here, so I can probably like resend it to you real quick. But... um Basically,
Speaker: ah There was a woman talking about how the Dodgers may be throwing this I was, I was, I was prepping for this because it was an impromptu thing. So I was like reading, I was like listening to it. And then I was like, all right.
Speaker: Like the Dodgers are throwing the NL. you know, CS, are they really? Bye. You know, she kind of gave the proviso that think about it. That's how, you know, they can. uh keep paying otani and keep you know,
Speaker: paying for other players and that sort of thing. But she I don't know. so essentially the premise of what you're saying is that this lady is theorizing that the dodges are purposely blowing this series and blowing their chance at a World Series in order to prove a point.
Speaker: to Major League Baseball that lower budget teams can win so they don't stop the Dodgers from spending money. Yeah, I mean, it's all about content these days, right? You do shows five, six times a week.
Speaker: and talk about aperitifs when you have a chance like you know the other stuff Like... its own content. And so I think whatever it gets clicks. and whatever makes you watch past the 30 -second mark.
Speaker: you know, gets allows the other person to get paid these days. So I think that's why she put it out there. now you just disagree with her when i'm as i I don't know. I don't agree with her. I don't agree with her because if. Yeah, the the Dodgers.
Speaker: got here by being the Dodgers. right by basically being the the West Coast version of the Yankees. And... you know, I...
Speaker: Wholeheartedly think. that the Dodgers have just sort of run out of gas. wholeheartedly like they maybe may take a game they could take two if they're bu if the bullpen falters.
Speaker: but That's a big, how like a big button, a big however. Like... I think the Brewers are too locked in. like I love what Pat Murphy said the other night. He was like, I'm not thinking past... two games I'm not thinking past the next game. I'm thinking past the first inning of the next game. That's it.
Speaker: and then what we do in the second inning and the third inning and the fourth inning. Like, I'm... i'm He slowed down time that quickly. or that much that i'm sure that's ah as a sci -fi fan i appreciate it You know, um as AP, I know I've been I'd love to hear your thoughts, I'm sure.
Speaker: I was going to kick you anyway, but go right ahead. but Look at what's happened to the Dodgers in the last month. Shohei's been in and in and out of the IR. Has it been healthy enough? So it's like, oh you said it, you said it, and you said it. You said they go as Shohei goes.
Speaker: And... The thing is is that he has not been healthy. He has not performed well. I told my dad earlier that a 75 -50 %... Joe Hay is better than most of the players they have on that roster. and that the And I mean, that's true. I mean... To but to be fair, like where the hell has Will Smith been all postseason? He has been... Big fan. Very much nowhere.
Speaker: in this postseason, but... um Like... You're also... if you're the dodgers if you're throwing shohei out there multiple times while he's still hurt you're risking him getting hurt even further so You put a lot of money and a lot of investment.
Speaker: into Shohei Ohtani when you brought him in. You knew he was not going to be 100%. And after seeing him struggle in this postseason, it would not surprise me if the Dodgers benched him.
Speaker: not because Not to keep him out of the lineup. or to... you know s slight him in any way, but to keep him healthy. for when the Dodgers need him. next year.
Speaker: Because... Because it looks like... I'm not saying it's going to happen. There's going to... The Dodgers could pull the Dodgers and and and come back. but if the dodgers are feeling well If the Dodgers are feeling like this season is kind of – moot point why risk your biggest player why risk your best player getting hurt even further than what he already is I agree And the thing is too, it's like...
Speaker: yeah I can't find it, unfortunately. I was trying to look for it. is that The Dodgers are experiencing a team that they have. they struggle with. Look at look at what small ball teams have done to teams like the Dodgers and the Yankees.
Speaker: they're throughout this season. These guys, the the top teams struggle. And I mean... Part of this is also on on the managers as well.
Speaker: Cause like, I get it. You're only down, you're down three to two. But why? pull Yamamoto in the third inning. yeah I get it. I get that his pitch count is getting high.
Speaker: But this is what you brought him in for. Right. You brought him in to eat the innings that your bullpen cannot do. And now you use basically your entire bullpen, say, for d Edwin Diaz.
Speaker: in all of game two. And now you're going in with a... going into game three where Blake Snell is going to have to go at least six, seven innings plus.
Speaker: for the Dodgers to have a chance. Otherwise you're just continuing to deplete your bullpen even further. So yes, it's partially on Shohei's injury. but it's also partially on the managing for Dave Roberts.
Speaker: Dave Roberts has not managed well. Pat Murphy has out -coached Dave Roberts. Yes, 100%. 100%, but it's... Go ahead. And the thing is, too, this is something we haven't seen from the Milwaukee Brewers. like recent history or like in a long, long time.
Speaker: Yeah. Bye. It seems... Because normally, if a Brewers team like this gives up a run or two, they just fold. But Pat Murphy has instilled in this team a...
Speaker: never give up, never quit attitude. every time the doctors took a lead or tied tied the game. There was always an answer. They always answered back. And that's something... Dodgers aren't used to that. Dodgers aren't used to teams punching them back in the mouth, and I think that's affected them too.
Speaker: Yeah, I think it has. And you know what? Look. If you're going to, and I agree with you completely, if you are going to, and we're not saying that the conspiracy theory is real. We're not saying the Dodgers are nailing it in. None of us here believe that players, executives, or owners want to lose their jobs and or their businesses. No one's going to lose on purpose. This isn't the Washington Wizards.
Speaker: um this is The Wizards are on the come up. Don't say that. The Wizards are on the come up. ever. Um... I have no time for any of these. This is the Sacramento Kings signing Ben Simmons. Yeah, yeah, exactly. There you go. That's a better. That's a better parallel.
Speaker: So, look, I don't think that they're going to necessarily bench him. um Canteen says, Otani, the need to make a professional decision on Otani. So he's talking about the team doctors. But he also says they can make it interesting. Amol, he said you were speaking the truth there. So there you go. Shout out to you. Thank you, Canteen. Appreciate you. Well, look, man, they do need to either... And I told my dad,
Speaker: Look, Shohei is better than... 75 % of the players in the league when he's at 50%. so um While I personally...
Speaker: would not bench him. I do understand. why you may do that, because maybe you want to put in the jolt to the team, whatever. Obviously, seven -game series, you can't lose one more because we've only seen one team do that of all time. Shout out to the Mules. Red Sox.
Speaker: um But... That doesn't happen very often. So you either have to pull it out or... Yes, but... I also think it's this. It's it's a bit... So for all my West Wing fans out there, it's a bit of tempting fate.
Speaker: you know, There was so so much talk coming into this postseason that the Dodgers are going to three -peat. They're going to be like the Yankees from back in the day. They're going to be like the 96, 97, 98, you know. Mariano Riviera.
Speaker: you know, his son is gonna be traded for. and we'll be closing games or something. No, that's I don't think that happened. But you know orm I'm sure that was talked about on some subreddit. But...
Speaker: That's what it was. The the Dodgers are... are are cracking a little bit. And they're cracking under pressure, and that that happens sometimes. Genuinely, I mean...
Speaker: the Look no further than the 2003 Red Sox. we cracked right grady little so like you know i think the dodgers are They've had their run. They'll they'll be okay.
Speaker: But like I've been saying, like, Otani, first off... I understand if Otani has like a hamstring or something else, but if he's just sitting out because he's at a swamp, get in the hidden cage.
Speaker: I mean, I'm under the weather I'm here. I'm under the weather. I'm going to be in planning meetings next week. in Ohio. Like, I need to you know you need to show up and do your job.
Speaker: regardless of whether you're getting paid, you know. I was going to say, we don't pay you. This ain't no job. Yeah. But no, no, no. But my point is, regardless of whether you're being paid minimal amount or, you know, 200 mil.
Speaker: You should be showing up. He can still DH. and for him to to take a couple swings. Like, it's not that... i ah Maybe I'm just... I don't know I'm trying to to see a bright side for doubt for the Dodgers faithful.
Speaker: And I don't see money. So. All right. yeah boy As we said, we got the Guardians down 3 -0, end of the fifth now, Tampa Bay going into the sixth. Let's go ahead and pick our winners for these series and pick our updated World Series matchups now that we have four teams.
Speaker: Amul, we'll start with you. Who do you have winning these series? I like the Rays. ah Winning in... Jeez, we're tied 1 -1. ah Let's go.
Speaker: That's it. Oh, yeah, that's right. so Sorry, one other Cleveland. the razor up yeah yeah My bad, sorry. No, so it's 1 -0. Cleveland, I'm going to say Tampa comes back, wins it in five, maybe six.
Speaker: ah Let's give the, you guys already know that I've been riding with the Milwaukee Brewers since the start of the post season. So I'm going to stick with that. Uh, and Maybe Shohei Otani decides that he's better off.
Speaker: as ah someone that wants to be an Apple pitch man. in addition to being a new balance. I mean, if he wants to pitch me the the latest MacBook Pro that's coming out later on this year, I'm down, like but let's talk, let's make a deal, you know? Lightroom and Photoshop runs better on a Mac. um, Shout out to my my PMDC fam.
Speaker: But I would say... ah Brewers over the uh dodgers i'm gonna say five games only to give the Dodgers some leeway because they're really...
Speaker: But I'm kind of hoping that it's over and four. So... Do you want World Series calls too? or Yeah, because I agree with you completely. And and since my Padres hottest team bowed out.
Speaker: I originally had picked the Brewers and Rays, so I'm with you. I would love to see two low market teams. yes market teams get in there and play because neither one of them have won The World Series. So we'll come back to your World Series pick in a second. Sure. KP, who do you have winning these series?
Speaker: So interesting with these, as you kind of alluded to it, Omar, well the the narrative is going to be the big market team versus the three small market teams Um... It's also the Dodgers who've won back -to -back World Series against two teams who haven't won a World Series in the Raisin Brewers. And oh, by the way, the Cleveland Guardians have the longest championship drought in all the four major sports. so yeah um There's that narrative as well that that has to be accounted for.
Speaker: um Mmm! i love I'm not actually going to go Cleveland. Because... Okay. there's theres There's something about this Guardians team that reminds me very similar of...
Speaker: Uh oh! Uh -oh. oh Uh -oh. Texas Rangers. Because they play good small ball. They play good on the road. They have good pitching.
Speaker: And... Nathaniel Lowe is on their roster. Nathaniel Lowe, that's right. They eerily remind me of our our run in 2023. would That would be awesome to see them in that championship drought. Although i would love I would not be mad at the Rays getting in either. I would not be mad at either of those teams. Who is your World Series pick? It is. It's Guardians. I'm going to go Guardians to get to the World Series. Guardians! And they're going to win the whole thing?
Speaker: i'm gonna take the cleveland guardians and i'm gonna take the milwaukee brewers ah in the in the NL side. So if I had to pick so
Speaker: There's just too much firepower in Milwaukee, and I think Pat Murphy's a better manager than Stephen Bowe. I love what Stephen Bowe's done with the Guardians. but i'm sorry cleveland fans there's just more heartbreak coming your way i guess so I'll take the Brewers to win their first World Series. There we go. Brewers to win the first World Series. Amor, it's you and I.
Speaker: Brewers and Rays. Do you want to go first? Yes, please. Okay, um I'm going to say... Well, I already said the Rays come out of the the East or the ALCS. Um... I'm going to say the Brewers.
Speaker: And six, sorry, Tampa. Forgive me. you'll be okay. You'll be back soon. Yes. Because it only makes for a good show. I'm going with the Rays.
Speaker: to win their first title in six games over the Brewers. And look, y 'all, we'll be back We'll be back before the World Series. We'll be talking more. We just like to come on and talk to shit and have some fun. i will say though if we um Unless the Dodgers somehow rally back.
Speaker: I think regardless of which... of the three teams we get, it's going to be an amazing World Series. Yeah, like for sure. especially since all three of these teams love to play fundamental baseball. And again,
Speaker: I feel like more teams are going to have to go back to fundamental baseball if they want to start having success. and That's not just the small teams either. That's also the big market teams. They're going to have to go back to fundamental baseball if they want to.
Speaker: yeah to get into this spot here in the next few years. I agree wholeheartedly. that That's something that... I'll go ahead and move. No, I was just going to say that's definitely something that the big market teams, if they're intent on succeeding after the lockout,
Speaker: then they got to stick to fundamentals. Otherwise, what are you doing? And I've heard that a lot lately. AP's not the first person I heard that from. That's been a lot on broadcast lately yeah of the playoffs where they were like, look, du the fundamentals have gone down.
Speaker: in the game. So we're definitely looking forward to that. We're not looking forward to a lockout. But, hey, we'll be back in a week or two. um We're going to do an off -season preview. like I will say this before we go, and I'm sorry to cut you off, Omar. I apologize. if If the guy who has been a ah a staple...
Speaker: face of the New York Yankees for 20 years. is coming out and saying, hey, We need to get back to fundamental baseball. Maybe there's a point. You'll do that.
Speaker: Yep. No, you're completely right. That being said, hey, everybody, this weekend, very special event. Ya boy. The sports professor.

No, it's yeah and to be honest, it's going to be easier for us to not have people on the stream yard, so I'm just going to have AD give me his.
Speaker: parlay beforehand so i can announce it on the day of so ap all right that nfl cfp parlay this week you just let me know and i'll announce it But, yeah, no. It'll probably just be like an all NFL since it's going to be a Saturday night show anyway. That's fine. That's fine. Hey, but either way, we're going to be out there. We're going to be reviewing college football. We'll talk some NFL. And, again, we'll have a move along to talk some baseball. It's going to be a great time. We got the 671 Pacific food truck.

Speaker: The last four teams left will be going over what the White Sox might do. Now that they've been eliminated and then how they can continue to build their roster. Talk about some of the new CBA stuff that came out over the past week.
Speaker: ah and then you know talk you know, have the debate of fundamentals versus the analytics. uh if the fundamentals need to come back so That should be a fun time tomorrow night. Red Room Sports Show. Thursday night.
Speaker: or Thursday evening, 4 p .m. Eastern, 6 p .m. Eastern with Whit, myself. Bobby G and everybody else. on deck for that. Uh huh. Lock it in over the weekend. Saturday, college football. Sunday, NFL.
Speaker: And then, of course, as I mentioned earlier, we're going to be doing a watch -along live stream of Notre Dame BYU. If you don't know, I picked BYU to beat Notre Dame and in the in the our season preview, so that's a big reason why we're doing this game. um Because if ah if they do win, I'm going to be happy. If they don't, I'm going to have to eat crow for it. so Oh, no.
Speaker: Yeah, Notre Dame -BYU should be a fun game. It's Notre Dame's first true test of the season for them. so Should be a fun time. Number two versus number eight is going to be a great game. Shout out to Hot Rod.
Speaker: From the Bottom Line Sports, what's good, brother? Hey, look, I mean, the brewers are cooking. We'll see what they do. If you want to come on next time, we're going to do a show next week or the week after. Hot Rod, let me know. You can come on with us.
Speaker: um I know your Braves are out. ah But that being said, I'm out. uh uh let them know are you still on uh for the rest of the month right at the art gallery is that correct yeah i'm still on for the rest of the month I will be hosting on the 23rd of October from six to nine.
Speaker: ah So yes, I will be doing a reverse. for those that have known me a long time and know me really well y 'all know the legend It is a legend. of the 2018 Stanley Cup. finals So um how, ah Omar doesn't know this. He's not privy to the story.
Speaker: but I will be catching a flight back. and going directly to the gallery. ah And so ah if you... want to stop by feel free i'll be there from six an hour and week ah six to nine Are we closing up? And then the 30th is the Masquerade Ball. Feel free to, if you come to that, you don't necessarily have to dress up.
Speaker: But... um where I'm at. just Wear one of those like masquerade masks if you want to show up. um and And really, ah you know aside from that just prepping for uh the next show I know a lot of people recently have been ah disheartened and disappointed.
Speaker: that I don't have a beard anymore. I'm sorry. You will be fine. The beard will return by in doomsday. Okay. The beard will return in Avengers Doomsday, much like everything else.
Speaker: um I like the beard personally because I'm a beard. Guy? I thought that it was a little much. I thought that you had overgrown your beard. It looked more like a bush instead of a beard. I needed you to, like, shape that down a little bit. You could have told me that then, like, when we were at the gallery, sir. I didn't want to say anything. It's fine. But you were a little scruff scruff.
Speaker: yeah You were a little scrub scrub too when I saw you at the gallery. Right, I was. I did not shave beforehand. I thought about that before I went. I was like, damn, I should have shaved. I did not. But um but it's all good.
Speaker: It's all good. i'll be ah I'll be jumping on as and when I can. Next week, I may not be able to, but the week after, I'll be week two i'll be back. Yeah, I will. And y 'all tune in ja tomorrow night. Total evisceration. I'm going to kick Hot Take Jake's ass. And then Thursday night before the game, we're going to have any given sacrifice. For you, Jake. Hot Take Jake. Hot Take, you're going to get it all. That's for you, Jake. and and and for the And for those that got the Odyssey reference, well done.
Speaker: on passing eighth grade latin earlier because i know there are a lot of people that didn't regarding the goat sacrifices so um All right. I know you didn't. I know you didn't, sir. I know you didn't.
Speaker: Why would I ever even know Latin? it's the You can translate Latin into Italian. and You can talk to people when you go to Italy. I did that when I was there in 2019. The only Latin he knows is pig Latin.
Speaker: Yes, this is true. I don't even know Piglet. I don't even know Piglet. Let's go back and talk to the 16 -year -old Omar. You have to make it like backwards. You have to say like... Yeah, something like that. Yeah, I don't know how to do that shit either. Mrs. McCall would like to have a word with you. It's like these new kids and they're skibbity and they're 6 '7". Is that still around? Is that skibbity and all that? Is that still around? I'm never. Unfortunately, yes.
Speaker: I heard there was, like, some movement on, like, killing the whole, like, having kids say 6 -7. Or you're giving, or you're giving me a heart attack is what they're giving well giving. The giving thing makes sense. We can say that. We can say it's giving whatever. But the 6 -7 and Skibbity and...
Speaker: Riz and no, no thanks. No thanks. Good. No thanks to that, but thanks to y 'all. We appreciate it. And we are out. Y 'all be kind. Y 'all be blessed. Go out and be kind to somebody. Love each other. And I'll see you tomorrow night when I kick hot, take Jake's ass. Holla. Stay out of trouble.
Speaker: Awesome buds.
