Recap of 2026 NFL Draft: Fantasy Football Perspective

00:00:44
Speaker
Guys, but the the draft is over.
00:00:46
Speaker
The 2026 NFL draft is done. And this episode here, that's what we're going to be recapping. But from a fantasy football perspective, which is really the only reason why you're listening to the podcast.
00:00:57
Speaker
Let's be honest now. From a fantasy football perspective is what we're going to be looking at. We're going to be canvassing the winners, canvassing the losers. you know Those players that you were concerned about drafting next year, about how are they going to do if so-and-so has drafted it, a or this running back that got into a great spot right now that he's really going to be the bell cow. Well, we are here to tell you that's not going to be the case anymore, unfortunately.
00:01:20
Speaker
We're going break out some bad news just like Diana Rossini did. Sorry, is that too soon? Russini is your new Deshaun Watson. she's Yeah, well, you know something?
00:01:33
Speaker
they deserve know it's ah There's a few things that the that they know the Patriots who always get caught treating cheating, let me tell you. They always get caught cheating one way or another. way or another Mike Vavor, where are you at? Apparently, i don't know if you guys heard the latest rumor. It's such a rumor, but it's still fun anyways.
00:01:49
Speaker
He's going to be resigning his positions as the head coach of the New England Patriots. And apparently, again, rumor, ah Mike Tomlin is going to be taking over as the role.
00:02:00
Speaker
The Daily Mail is the one the 100%. 100%. It's just fun to stir a little there a little the pot over there. Why not? you know imagine but But do you think Tomlin would actually make a comeback? And if so, with the Pats? i don't think so. I think he's going to be done for for a thing he's thinking at at least a year off. i don't think i don't think the team makes a difference, but he also just came out on Sunday sunday Night Football to say like why he took a step back. like It came out yesterday when he was on TV and actually like said he was going to be on the panel and why and everything behind it.
00:02:33
Speaker
It looked pretty weird if you just jumped the right... He didn't do show and goes right to the Patriots. It looked kind of strange, but... there's a i on on that happened I'm on Reddit now. there's that There's that picture of Ravel with his hands in his pocket with a little smirk. you know Looks like he's like coming out of rehab.
00:02:50
Speaker
someone Someone wrote, Mike Ravel is a changed Proud of how far he's come in three days.

Draft Winners and Losers: Hosts' Picks

00:02:57
Speaker
Ha ha ha ha. it's so like it's the entire press conference and the entire anyways, it's the Spotify playlist speaking of Spotify You can find this podcast on Spotify as long as on YouTube Apple pocket stick talking Instagram and Twitter so let's let's just Sweep all that stuff on the rug just like they did with that affair We're gonna jump right into the winners and losers of the 2026 NFL draft. I'm gonna get this party start I want to kick this off ladies and gentlemen
00:03:24
Speaker
uh attached i took it we say in quebec over here so what what are we doing winners first then losers i think that's probably the winners first and losers so we're gonna start off we each have about four winners and four winners being either a team or a collection of players from a team or um you know like a qb room or whatever and the same thing when for losers ah about two losers each uh we're each gonna take a turn have a little conversation about whether we think it's legit or not and you know where we see for these prospects for at the nfl um fantasy football season in 2026 that's upon us so i'm gonna get this party rolling um yeah so um my my winners are actually cam scatterbow and jackson dart of the new york giants uh so giants arguably have one of the better drafts of of uh of this draft right now by all the pundits and all that stuff and i think a lot of that had to do with the fact that jeremiah love went to the arizona cardinals at three um so they ended up
00:04:16
Speaker
I guess it was their hand was

New York Giants' Draft Success

00:04:18
Speaker
a little bit forced. I think they wanted to draft an offensive lineman anyways, but then getting Francis Mainoa, who's just ah the beast of a human being. And they didn't end up drafting any right receiver, any running backs at all, which bode super well for Cam Scatterbow. So now you add the fact that they've upgraded their offensive line, which is great for Jackson Dart.
00:04:36
Speaker
They also drafted um Malachi Fields and the round and the third round wide receiver out Notre Dame. Big body wide receiver, big contested catch wide receiver. um So all these things. And then, you know, obviously with the off with the offseason acquisitions that they've had for um Patrick Ricard, massive fullback as well.
00:04:56
Speaker
It just bodes well, and it has a like you they're going to be a running team. They're going to be a running team, so you're looking at it from a fantasy football standpoint, Cam Scadabo is going back healthy. Jackson Dart is going to have all of his toys to play with, and they're going to have a beefed-up offensive line.
00:05:10
Speaker
um I think you're going to be able to get some serious QB1 returns from Jackson Dart, probably like top 10. I don't think it's... out of the realm of possibility. And Cam Scadabo firmly within the RB2 conversation.
00:05:22
Speaker
We saw how good he did last year um when he was given the reins for being. So I think it's just a matter of that continuing. You know, I think I like seven touchdowns in five games. Like he was just, he was ripping it apart. So those are big winners for me.
00:05:40
Speaker
Cam Scadabo and Jackson Dart. Giants in general. Let's go. You know, we forget, as Isaiah like we do, like like i've I've forgotten. It's been so long that like, you know, likely is going to be fixture in an offense too. And, and you know, i just think the offense line is this is as good as it's been in a very long time. So I agree. i've It's the most excited I've been ah as a Giants fan in a very, very long time. Fab, you're always excited for a Giants fan. But I think now it's... it's You know, it's but it's legitimate. It's not a legitimate reason. But now it's the obvious reason to be excited. Yes.
00:06:13
Speaker
you know it's funny. Now it's the opposite. Now i'm I'm like, I'm i'm very, um I'm cautiously optimistic because like everything sounds right. So it's like, okay, something's going to break, but we'll, we'll, what we'll see. But I agree with you with the offensive line. Yeah, no, it's true. I agree with you with the

Impact of Eagles' Draft Choices on Jalen Hurts

00:06:27
Speaker
offensive line though. i and let's Let's keep the ball rolling. let's We're going to continue. We're going to stay in the NFC East. Actually.
00:06:33
Speaker
Another one of my winners is Jalen Hurts. So we all know that I've, I've been very vocal about how I feel about Jalen Hurts and how he's such a fantastic quarterback that can barely throw for 3000 yards. But however, i think they i think i think the Eagles had a pretty good draft too. Like they drafted Malachi, sorry, Makai Lemon.
00:06:52
Speaker
Makai Lemon. dr mckay lemon said that he Say what you want about his weird man very weird individuals. Can i educate you guys? What? He's just hood. He's just hood. That's it. He's just hood.
00:07:06
Speaker
that's that's it that's it's just hood like we white ready something else Are we that white? was that No, you guys aren't. um actually so' surprised we're not We're not white. We're Italian. That's not white.
00:07:19
Speaker
That's something Lucas would say. can He's just hood. That's it. He's just hood. 100% fine. But on top of being hood, he's also like an I'm on around St. Brown lights. And I think that's kind of what they're drafting for right now. They did cut the grass of your Pittsburgh Steelers neck, which was pretty crazy. Embarrassing. I've never seen anything like that before. They're going to get sanctioned that. Yeah.
00:07:43
Speaker
sanctioned excuse me for that because yeah on the phone with him so they might lose they might lose some draft cap at least at the very least get fined for calling a player before before they were on the clock just because they knew the Cowboys were going defense that's crazy apparently and that's a that's a that's a no-no you can't have you can't be calling athletes if you're not on the clock that's mean that is mickey out yes well that's uh that's Howard what's his name again Howie Roseman Omar Khan
00:08:14
Speaker
Or Mark Han? Oh, yeah, the GM. Mark Han is a Steelers GM, but yeah, Harry Roseman, yeah. I still don't know how he managed to... to to like hes He's a magician. He's a wizard, man. He's literally a wizard. He's wizard.
00:08:28
Speaker
Crazy. hey Makai Lemon, also Eli Stowers, the nice nice body tight end and on day two as well. So it's going to obviously, i think it's going to raise the efficiency floor for Jalen Hurts. And I'll give him some opportunity to to throw in the middle, which he's been having some issues with.
00:08:44
Speaker
um And obviously the the passing ecosystem is going to be what it's going to be. It's going much more efficient, but it's much go be safer as well. You know, the rushing upside is always going to be there. But overall, I think this is a win for Jalen Hurts from a fantasy perspective.
00:08:56
Speaker
And now I've been reading a lot of rumors that A.J. Brown is going to be traded post-June 1st, I think. Before gone conclusion. Yeah, for cap considerations, it's like the worst kept secret and all that. So um so obviously big boost also for Makai Lemon as well. And and we're going to see what that bodes for Devontae Smith, but that's going to later on in the podcast. So stay tuned.
00:09:18
Speaker
um My next winner of the NFL draft is actually the Browns quarterback

Browns' Offensive Enhancements

00:09:24
Speaker
room. And this is, Brown's had a decent draft, man. like they're they Very good draft. yeah they had Two years in a row.
00:09:31
Speaker
yeah yeah Two years in a row. The Casey conception. Let's see if the kid Browns it up and and screw it up. They were, Dane Brugler of the Athletic had them as the best draft. Yes, I saw a lot of that. Yeah, it was really good.
00:09:45
Speaker
Yeah, no, I got to give kudos where it is. they They've turned the corner, I guess, in the last few years of their drafting. You know, say what you want, right? They want have a lot of, they've had a lot of picks. So like they've really been amassing a lot of draft capital and you just eventually some of it has to pan out.
00:10:01
Speaker
So they added Casey conception, they added Denzel Boston, they added help on the offensive with that. like sion Conception. Conception. Con
00:10:11
Speaker
it youcepny that that's where you that's why you sound white is that's that's the That's the whiteness coming out. This is the Wonder Bread, ladies and gentlemen. Sorry. a white away let me let me Let me take some tequila. Concepcion.
00:10:24
Speaker
well like Now we're getting a little bit too far. on Added Casey Concepcion. Actually, on ah but I am rooting for this kid. Jokes aside, i think he had like um on a letter in the Players' Tribune.
00:10:38
Speaker
where he basically put the whole like league on blast type thing, but in a good way to say, like you know you bet on me and all that. like I'm going to be the best wide receiver. going draft and like you want to draft me. I thought that was really good. you know like i i really I really appreciate that type of stuff.
00:10:52
Speaker
um Another wide receiver, Denzel Boston, and obviously a guard, Spencer Fano. So they already had Harold Fannin at a tight end, who is... would look to have a pretty good chemistry going on with Schroeder Sanders last year.
00:11:05
Speaker
Just in general, he seems to be quite the weapon. And you add you know another set of young wide receivers, you beef up the offensive line. So it's a legit young core around whoever starts at quarterback, right? And i know there's been a lot of talk about who that quarterback is going to be because Deshaun Watson apparently is still practicing and all that. But regardless of who the quarterback is, I think at least for the most part, the Browns front office are doing their best to, you know, sort of support the quarterback and the quarterback room, which.
00:11:35
Speaker
Yes. This is the year like it's make or break for sugar because there's enough talent. The offensive line is getting better. If it doesn't work out this year, it's, you know, 2027 with that amazing QB class. That's where you got to go.
00:11:48
Speaker
Yep. Yeah, 100%. A bit of a curveball for... Sorry, what was that, NAC? There's going to be a lot of pivoting next year. this is This is a pivotal moment for a lot of QBs in the league because of the class coming next year. That's a great point.
00:12:03
Speaker
Yeah, that is actually a very good point. there's I see the J.J. McCarthy's of the world where and even the Michael Penix's of the world where they might just screw it. There's a lot of them. Oh, yeah. That's true.
00:12:15
Speaker
Yeah. Yep. That's very true. Wow. Yeah. it's That's a great point, actually. I think about that. Yeah. 2027 is going to be a very interesting year. Ladies gentlemen, stay tuned. We'll be around, to you know, to recap all that fun stuff again this time next year.
00:12:29
Speaker
um Got my last winner. Bit of a curveball. But the team defense, Dallas. um So yeah Dallas drafted Caleb Downs.
00:12:41
Speaker
Dallas drafted a fantastic safety in Caleb drown Downs. Everyone expected him to be an all-pro safety, a mirror image of Eric Berry. On top of that, they also got a little bit of edge help by drafting Malachi Lawrence and Jaishan Barhan in round three.
00:12:55
Speaker
So you're looking at a team right now that really changed a lot of their defensive front. They have Dee Winters' trade that happened in the offseason as well, a 49ers linebacker. They got Siobhan Ravel Jr. healthy after the ACL discount last year.
00:13:09
Speaker
So, you know, you're rotating a lot of guys like Rashawn Gary and Devonovan. Thank you. There's a raccoon. This defense could be very interesting.
00:13:20
Speaker
Very interesting. And Caleb Downs having a a general like him at the safety position where he went on. He was quoted like today or yesterday saying that college was too easy for him.
00:13:33
Speaker
Okay. that that I don't like, I don't like, feel i like him a lot. don't hear i like him a lot. He's like, college was all was too easy for him. He can't wait to get the other. I don't like already have already started.
00:13:44
Speaker
I'm just a, um the I am the messenger. or the messenger yes and yeah he I don't mind that. I don't mind that. I really don't. Like, I like to see a little bit of dog in my players and and Caleb Downs. It's going to be very hard for me to root against him because Because I really liked them coming into the draft. Same thing with Sonny Stiles. Raj, you and I, we had a conversation back and forth while talking about who the Giants might be picking at five and 10. And when we found

Panthers' Show of Faith in Bryce Young

00:14:09
Speaker
out that Dex Lawrence was traded, we got the 10th overall pick. I'm like, let's just go Sonny Stiles and get the downs, baby. all thought it was that.
00:14:14
Speaker
we all thought it was that And that's the problem with mock drafts. You get a preconceived notion of like what your team will be, and then there's disappointment. like I saw on the Giants Reddit, there was a lot of disappointment that Downs was not picked. but i anyways we'll We'll talk about the Giants defense later, but just for the Dallas defense, one of the things I've been reading a lot this offseason is the new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker. He came from Philly, Vic Fangio defense. I believe they're moving away from 3-4 a 4-3. So this...
00:14:43
Speaker
to a four three so this This is going to be a really interesting defense to watch with all the talent they added. yeah um So it's going to be really, really quick. Quinton Williams, obviously, we forgot about that aspect. So I'm really going to very true. That was a big trade, man.
00:14:59
Speaker
Yeah. It's funny because Jerry Jones said that Mika Parsons could turn into five players and the players that they drafted and got for him. Yeah. Great point. He was like, when you when you when you hit, what like for all the criticism Jerry Jones got, he turned Mika Parsons into um a huge defensive overhaul and it's it could be a bunch of stars for Mika Parsons. So,
00:15:25
Speaker
you know We all call him that few old man, but he did exactly what he said it was going to be. And he stood in front of the camera and he mentioned exactly that. And and they got all give them again, we don't know what these players are going to become. But on paper right now, he really hit the jackpot on that Mika Parsons trade. And meanwhile, Mike has been injured, I think, two straight years. He's just coming off an ACL, right? like You can't predict that, but it's a really good point.
00:15:48
Speaker
I'm like, if I'm the Cowboys right now, like I'm not upset that I got that Micah Parsons on my team anymore. Like, I don't know, man. I'm just such a dweeb. Anyways, Micah, if you're listening, we love you, though. Like you want to you want to come on the podcast. We'll just very long time. Just like you did with Barstool whatever you did over there with Malik Neighbors and just like calling on at every single player and then like showing them love right after when you have them on the camera. We can do the same thing for you. So yeah, so I think that dallas Dallas team defense is going be interesting. But na that's a great point because it's it's Frank Clark, defensive tackle, Quinny Williams, obviously Caleb Downs.
00:16:22
Speaker
Malachi Lawrence, I know I'm talking about rookies over here, but still, you know, like this is, this is legitimate, like, and very interesting and somewhat young defense too. That's going to be making its way.
00:16:33
Speaker
The NFC East and even Washington to it, the NFC East is is going to be a very frustrating division. um So those are my four winners. going to pass ah the word over to Mr. Pittsburgh Steeler, Yinzer himself over here in Nacorado. He's going to take over the mic right now and give me his winners.
00:16:54
Speaker
Thank you, Fab. Yes, I'll start off with my winners. The first one is going to be ah Bryce Young, actually. They drafted a left tackle, Wendell Freeling. I know a lot of people said that they reached a little bit for for him, but that was a really, really position of need um for Carolina. So I'm not looking at it as... um as too much of a of of a reach. They really needed that for for Bryce Young, for sure. Drafted another wide receiver in the third round in Chris Brazell. So a huge vertical option, kind of like a George Pickens style, lengthy speed comp.
00:17:32
Speaker
And, um you know, it was also the first time they didn't draft a quarterback alongside of him. So I think there is good faith in, they're putting faith in Bryce Young this year.
00:17:43
Speaker
But again, we just spoke about it. This is another break or break year for him as well, because with the 2027 class coming right behind them, I'm sure the Panthers will not hesitate to take one of those top guys if they do finish bottom of the league. But so far, the draft went pretty well for them. And I think,
00:18:01
Speaker
I think they're getting the right pieces in the right areas to help Bryce Young and help him succeed. So it's definitely going to be um an interesting season for him and the Panthers, and I'm looking forward to see how it how it pans out.
00:18:15
Speaker
Good call, yeah. um I thought it was also interesting they didn't draft a QB, and Kenny Pickett's backing up. So it is all Bryce Young yeah for the 2026 season. Yeah. They made the playoffs with him last year, right? And then they won a game with him. So he's got a little bit of a longer leash than he did before. Yeah, 100%.
00:18:34
Speaker
Yeah, well, you always have a chance to make the playoffs in the AFC South, right? You made the playoffs with an 8-8 record. I think they were 8-9. Weren't they 8-9? 8-8. No, 8-9. No, 8-9. There's an extra game. Yeah, you're right. 8-9, my bad. 8-9 and made the playoffs. So it doesn't take much to make the playoffs in the AFC South. You've just got to be you know you got be competitive and beat your your division.
00:18:58
Speaker
Another winner has got to be Geno Smith. Talk about another New York team that had a very, very good draft drafted draft. Kenyon Sadiq, so the best obviously tight end in the draft.
00:19:12
Speaker
Got very very good value with him and then managed to come in back into the first and grab Omar Cooper Jr. So a lot of people thought that they could have had Lemon instead of Sadiq, that they were going to go Lemon there but they passed and went with the the tight end option.
00:19:28
Speaker
So now you have a room with Garrett Wilson, and Omar Cooper Jr. and Kenyon Sadiq all in one offense here. They still have the other tight end that they drafted last year um Taylor. yeah so they've got two tight ends. They'll be playing a lot of tall personnel potentially next year with two tight ends on the on the field.
00:19:48
Speaker
So there's definitely more options there for Geno. Obviously, they're looking for him. to sick They're hoping he can succeed and find that touch he found early on in Seattle, bring that back. So...
00:20:00
Speaker
But again, that is another team to watch. I think they have three first-round picks next year. So I think the biggest pressure is definitely going to be on Geno Smith. They got you the weapons. This is the time to either... and Because even his contract is is structured in a way where it's one-year deal, potentially. So I think they have an out with Geno Smith.
00:20:18
Speaker
And um yeah, with three first-round picks, they have... all bunch of ammo to go up and get tank commander tank commander but it it might not even be just Gino Smith I saw some rumors say that Russell Wilson is visiting the Jets I think it's honestly he just probably wants to keep living in New York so he'll go and take a backup job but it's it's funny because Gino Smith backed up with Russell Wilson for year Jets country let's fly wait wait but where
00:20:51
Speaker
That's awesome. That is awesome. Yeah, he's going definitely come up with some stupid, catchy yeah catchy one. That's for sure. Jets country. Let's fly. Steelers country. That's well. my God. There was so many dumb ones. There's so many dumb ones. What was it? Broncos country. That's right. that was the worst still now That was it. That was the one. That's the one that started at all. Yeah.

Steelers' Draft Selections for QB Support

00:21:12
Speaker
Next winner here has got to be the Steelers QB room.
00:21:16
Speaker
So, as we mentioned earlier, they were targeting Makai Lemon, but got jumped in line by their um state rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. I had to pivot and drafted O-line Max Ahinachor.
00:21:32
Speaker
Ahinachor. I don't know how to say that. but nigerian Nigerian born. Yep. Huge up upgrade, but he's very, very raw at the moment. So not necessarily going to start, but obviously with the concerns about Broderick Jones's neck and may not play again, probably going to start Dylan Cook and then hope for Max to come in and and protect. It was two and half year starter at Arizona, actually, but he really only started playing football four years ago.
00:21:59
Speaker
He was playing basketball and soccer before that. So he is extremely raw, but that apparently the o-line coaches gushed over him and really loved this pick so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt right now but it was it was kind of a weird pick i was watching mcafee and bill cower mentioned his name and he was so passionate about it i'm like oh my god they're definitely going to carol seemed to knew to know quite a bit about him uh that's it he spoke to omar khan he was with them at the facility that day and they were gushing over this kid and how like they really wanted him and like so he's a week one starter
00:22:34
Speaker
I don't think so. think he's just way too raw to be a ah week one starter. I think they're going give Dylan Cook the the this the start. and And hopefully by midseason, he has enough reps under his belt.
00:22:46
Speaker
I'm curious to see him in the preseason too. and Then they drafted. So they missed out, obviously. I thought they may have gone Omar Cooper Jr., but maybe it was a little bit too rich for their blood at 21. So they pivoted and they traded up in the second round to draft Gurme Bernard out of Alabama.
00:23:02
Speaker
I really, really like this physical wide re receiver eight bright receiver. I think it's like a Pittsburgh, Heinz Ward type kind of receiver. i feel like the physicality, he's going to block. He's not going to take any days off. It's not going to be you know George Pickens who doesn't like to block. or it's go it's one of those it was a Steelers pick. it was one of those guys was destined to be a Steeler, so I definitely love that. so I think, like, last year, their wide receiver room could have been considered probably bottom five in in in the league. And I think with this pick and the addition of... um Am I blanking on his name?
00:23:39
Speaker
Michael Pittman Jr. Wide receiver. Pittman, exactly. Pittman Jr. I think that vaults them into the top ten at the position as ah as a team from from one offseason to another. So it was definitely great to see another wide receiver drafted, but I don't know who...
00:23:55
Speaker
It remains to be seen who the week one starter is going to be at this point, but definitely a good position for the QB, whoever that is to be in at this point.
00:24:07
Speaker
Another winner here I have, Jadarian Price, running back, who was drafted by Seattle. um Oddly enough, ah like Seattle was trying to trade out of that pick from the day before even the draft on Wednesday.
00:24:21
Speaker
It was like the worst kept secret. They kept saying, like, call me, call me, call me, call me. And I think they benefited the best by actually making this pick. Raheem Mostert-type player, speed, scheme fit in Seattle with their run-heavy defense. He was that one-two punch with um with Love at at Notre Dame. so And then, you know, Zach Charbonnet, probably not going to play this year, if anything. he was injured late. Was it late in the Super Bowl or the NFC Championship game where was where he was injured? The Niners or the ram the Rams? don't remember. Either way, it was... ways Either way, it was playoffs late into the year. So if he plays, it's really going to be later on. And then you have Emmanuel Wilson, who's now the the clear backup there. So I think even like Jadarian Price comes into a wonderful situation. Seattle wants to run the football.
00:25:10
Speaker
i This is going to be, honestly, RB2 for sure, I think, ah right off the bat, Jadarian Price this year. And he's he's just going to benefit from that run scheme. And that and I think it was the perfect perfect fit for him to go to. I don't know about what you guys think.
00:25:25
Speaker
I can't wait for preseason where we talk about like draft position and everyone's going after Jeremiah Love in like you know the top 10. And then Jardarian Price is just sitting there like in in the eighth and mouth round. Yeah, 12th round. And he becomes the guy who you know just has as good of a season. He had some really good numbers at and at notre damees we we would we We did our preview on running backs, right, by pre-draft. So, if you ladies and gentlemen, you' know listen if you didn't listen to that episode, like please take a listen. And then come back to this

Jadarian Price's Fit with Seattle Seahawks

00:25:55
Speaker
one.
00:25:55
Speaker
um So, the first thing we mentioned about Jadarion Price was that he's the perfect committee back. And he goes to this scenario with the Seahawks. And we even said, like, he should go to the Seahawks. Who does he have to compete with touches with? Emmanuel Wilson was like a career backup, right? Like he had a few good games in Green Bay, you know, but like when he came on to Seattle to for depth, you know, and like the to be a committee back. So the same thing with Jadarian Price right now, like Jadarian Price like should be drafted next year in 100% of weeks.
00:26:26
Speaker
Yeah. Well, yeah, for sure. He's starting running back. goingnna He's definitely going to be drafted. he's He's starting running back. well It's going to be a committee for sure, but like 1A, 1B, and it's going to be, he's going to get volume. and He's going to be an RB2 and worst case of flex play, like all for all of next year, all of next year.
00:26:44
Speaker
And then just quickly, honorable mention, Malik Willis, potential winner. Still too early to tell, but the GM really built an offense around him, drafted that big old lineman, Caden Proctor in in round one, then also drafted some wide receivers in Kayla Douglas and Chris Bell on day two.
00:27:02
Speaker
There's not really any QB competition that was brought in. So I think, again, this is another one of those QBs where Miami figures to not have a great team this season and probably vying for a top two pick next year.
00:27:17
Speaker
So Malik Willis could easily find himself as a one and done in ah Miami as well. honestly, like yes, they did well, but I think they're... I expect them to struggle mightily in year one, so I'm i'm not too sure it's going to work out so well for Malik Willis, and I think they are... As much as you know it pains me to say it, but I do think they're probably going to finish either last or second to last this year. The roster's just not not good enough to to compete. Very tough division as well, so not looking good for Miami, but you know you have the the Manning next year, so i think
00:27:52
Speaker
Willis is just in a really tough spot here. He could do great, but chances are probably not. Yeah, and with Dante Moore coming back too, there's Sellers. There's a few other guys that are coming up. We we were talking about in our group. Yeah, we were talking about it our group chat. There's someone that we don't know about that is going to be top five. Then the Dane Brugler way too early mock draft, I saw...
00:28:12
Speaker
he had the dolphins at the second overall pick and he actually had them taking jeremiah smith from ohio state yeah which i could see but honestly it depends on what type of season willis had to the only way they take jeremiah smith and it would be really good is if malik willis kills it but then again like you're really now your eggs are all in that malik willis basket If they get the first, all if they get the first overall pick, like you're taking Arch Manning. Like, yeah, I don't care. you are happening yeah I don't care about him. His contract is structured i weigh the way they have an odd. You're absolutely right. it's not we
00:28:45
Speaker
Exactly. their His contract is structured that they have an odd after year two. Yeah. So that means he's going to play all of year one, which is this year. And next year, even if they do draft a quarterback, maybe he plays and starts the season and then the rookie comes in halfway through. And then after that, he's gone. Yeah.
00:28:59
Speaker
Hopefully balls out, man, for his sake. So that, yeah. and the rule i Like I'm not, I'm not putting any negative energy. It seems like a good dude, you know, I don't want to talk anything bad about him. he Just the situation he's in is just ah a lose, lose for me.
00:29:13
Speaker
Those are, those are my winners. Raj, why don't you give us some of your winners? Um, from the gu Yeah, thanks, Nak. My first winner was Tyler sch Shuck. So Saints added Jordan Tyson. They added a tight end Oscar Delp in day two and a wide receiver. Bryce Lance, speedy wide receiver.
00:29:30
Speaker
Delp, he was underutilized at Georgia, but it seems like he's a top end athlete. Tyson, we know everything about him from a route running perspective. Very fluid athlete. The issue being he missed 15 of a possible 48 games throughout his career. yeah. There's the injury risk, but still, this is an offense that needed more depth at wide receiver. They were really just mostly a Titan focused team with Chris Olave with some pass catching running backs. So I think this is really going to be good for Kellen Moore's mix and match attack. So I love what the Saints are doing to build around Tyler Shuck.
00:30:01
Speaker
um Secondly, I put David Montgomery and Derek Henry. Both teams, the Texans and Ravens, really drafted rail grady road grading guards. So Vega Ioane at 14 and Keelan Rutledge at 26 for Houston, really guards that you know those are types of ah players that They're going to run outside zone.
00:30:23
Speaker
they're going open cutting lanes in the inside for Montgomery and Henry. So I really love that. I love that they're overhauling the O-line. So Houston has Rutledge, Braden Smith, Wyatt Teller. And I think, again, Henry, we talk about it all the time. Like, when is the year going to be where he falls off a cliff? I am not going to count him out until I see it. And we know what we get out of Montgomery. He's a kind of you know meat and potatoes type guy, but I think he really is a great addition to that running back room. we I owned, um what's his, what's his face?
00:30:56
Speaker
The pass catching guy from, from USC. the The smaller remarks, Woody Marks. Yeah. Thank you. Woody Marks. Very inefficient, good pass catching numbers, but yeah yeah he's a third, he's a third down back.
00:31:08
Speaker
I agree. Yeah. Next one, Mark Andrews. So I think we were all wondering, you know why did the Ravens re-sign Mark Andrews a few years ago? Three years, $40 million. dollars They had Isaiah Likely.
00:31:23
Speaker
They let go of Isaiah Likely, but they didn't re re-sign him in free agency. So obviously they're putting a lot of the eggs in Mark Andrews's basket. They didn't draft Kenyan Sadiq. They were linked to him quite a bit, but they passed on him at 14 and took Ioane as mentioned. They lost Isaiah Likely to the Giants and they only drafted Matthew Himner from m SMU as a replacement. So I think with no real other tight end target there, I think Mark Andrews is prime for a bounce back here because it's had a little bit of a rough last past two two seasons. And i think he could he could be a tight end that could be had at a discount because of the the kind of stench that he's had since that drop ah in the Buffalo game.
00:32:06
Speaker
yeah Yeah. Next winner, Giants team defense. So we talked about the the the Caleb Downs pick earlier, how the Giants went, you know, Arvel Reese over Sonny Styles, and then they went mount Maui Noah over Caleb

Giants' Defensive Boost

00:32:22
Speaker
Downs. For me, they added another pass rusher in, Arvel Reese,
00:32:25
Speaker
This was a guy that most draft boards had as either their first or second on their board. You add him to a defense with Tremaine Edwards. There's Brian Burns. Kayvon Thibodeau from you know everything I've read, there's there's no inkling that he's going to be traded at all. So Abdul Carter, Javon Holland, this is going to be an amazing defense. So uh if you're looking if you're still playing team defenses which means most people are s sacks from a sax perspective but potentially turnover perspective i think the giants had a hell of a draft from a defensive perspective uh and i think we're all really giddy about about that aspect of their of their team there's a hell of a lot of pass rushers that's for sure there's gonna be it's a what are the time but
00:33:14
Speaker
It's a NASCAR package. Is that what they're calling it now? There's a lot of ways to get the quarterback. For sure. And you know everything I'm reading is with the 3-4 defense, Reese will play weak side linebacker. Tremaine Edwards will play on the inside. So they'll be able to rush Reese from the inside. They're going to move him around. He'll play some edge. And originally, a lot of all...
00:33:34
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Reese played a lot of off-ball linebacker too when he was at Ohio State. know we're talking about like Sonny Stiles got a lot of the attention in that regard and understandably so. Just that Reese was was rushing a lot more on the edge. But yeah, Reese is primarily as a linebacker.
00:33:50
Speaker
And just don't really get to the quarterback. And his his defensive coordinator at Ohio State was Matt Patricia. Say what you're about Matt Patricia. He knows his stuff um from a defensive perspective.
00:34:00
Speaker
I'll go one step further, Rod. You know who his linebacker coach was? The road James Laurianitis.
00:34:08
Speaker
James Laurianitis. So, yeah. like it's The guy has a pretty pedigree for this stuff. and we're just But again, you know ah cautiously optimistic. Let's keep the ball rolling here. Yes, yes. So we'd love to see what the Giants defense looks like next year.
00:34:20
Speaker
It's going to be interesting. You and me both. And my last... and my last my last um guess, I guess, tepidly winner, ah you know, Makai Lemon. Yes. He's ah going on a new team. He's going with the the Eagles.
00:34:36
Speaker
i think he can be a winner.
00:34:40
Speaker
i think he can, he can be a winner, maybe taking over some of what AJ Brown is going to give up when he gets traded to the Patriots, but just something to factor in. I want to mention it was that,
00:34:53
Speaker
Lemon is a very slot heavy player, field separator, yak guy. So he's going to be catching passes down the middle in theory. But Hurts ranked the dead last in middle the middle of the field throws in 2024 and near the bottom in 2025. So it's it's too early to tell. He could easily be a winner because he's going to supplant a lot of what potentially A.J. Brown would have done.
00:35:15
Speaker
a j Brown is a big slant and go type player, and I see that happening with with Lemon. But as we said, Jalen Hurts is going to change a little bit though of the way he plays to really utilize Makai Lemon in the middle of the field.
00:35:29
Speaker
So those are my winners. um Maybe i'll just I'll just go ahead and talk about my losers while we're there. Why not?
00:35:40
Speaker
Beautiful. ah So you guys talked about, Naki talked about Jadarian Price earlier as a winner. I actually have Emmanuel Wilson and Zach Charbonnet as losers. So This is ah an easy

Post-Draft Losers: Fantasy Football Impact

00:35:52
Speaker
one. Charbonnet, as we mentioned, is likely not going to be back until you know midseason. And Emmanuel Wilson, I think, was probably signed as the likely potential starter until they they signed Jared Darien Price. For sure, when you think about a rookie running back, there's...
00:36:07
Speaker
Ball security, there's pass protection. But I think for me, this is a ah clear sign that Wilson and Charbonnet are going to definitely have to be deprioritized. Already, we talked about it. the The Seahawks are the type of team where it's really hard to trust who the running back will be.
00:36:25
Speaker
there's They've been in committees for the past few years. um But for me, this is one where Emmanuel soon and Charbonnets, they're clear losers. And then my my second loser, Hal Fadden Jr. and Jerry Judy you know benefited from poor receivers last year, the dysfunctional offenses. Kind of think John new Smith with the Dolphins in 2024 where there wasn't much wide receiver help. So it was like easy dump offs to the tight end for them to make quick yards that might not be possible now now that the Browns have conception in Boston that passing offense won't necessarily rely only on short targets to fan in so with two potential
00:37:03
Speaker
you know TBD top 40 wide receiver picks, the team can't rely on Fannin as much as they used to. So he he becomes a a loser. And Jerry Judy, who knows what's happening with him already with the Browns. it was ah It was a bit of a struggle the past two years after that trade aside from a few games. Last year, he had a really, really tough year. I think he's someone who mike could go undrafted very easily.
00:37:25
Speaker
I was about to say Jerry Judy is going to be on my do not drop list. I don't want anything to do with him in 2026. Her fan and wait and see. I'm going to a wait and see approach, but they, I don't disagree, but these guys definitely are not are on the wrong end of targets right now with everything that they drafted.
00:37:43
Speaker
Yeah, definitely. So those are my losers. Knack. You want to give us your losers from the draft? Wow. One of the big losers got to be RJ Harvey.
00:37:54
Speaker
from the Broncos. The Broncos already had a full-fledged committee going on there with, you know, J.K. Dobbins as well. And then they went ahead and drafted Jonah Coleman in round four.
00:38:06
Speaker
So Sean Payton loves his running backs. we all There's no surprises there. um It's just weird to see them drafting another one after. you know Harvey did pretty well. He's just he's not a typical three-down back. And Sean Payton just doesn't roll like that anyways. right he doesn't There's no workhorse back in his backfields. goes back to the days. we've We've said this many times. goes back to the days with him and with the Saints and how Mark Ingram and Kamara split carries. It's just...
00:38:38
Speaker
He's going to get a lot of passing down work. he He definitely will be. He will be on third down. He will be on um the hurry-up offense, but it's going to just be hard to find week-in and week-out value with Harvey because you're kind of rolling the dice on when he's going to get those you know six catches for 45 yards and two touchdowns, and then you know the other week he giil goes for four carries for 14 yards and one catch 10 yards. Yeah.
00:39:07
Speaker
Just really, really weird. If I could say something, that team needed speed at the wide receiver position. i don't understand why they didn't go for a speedy wide receiver. i don't see why they needed another running back.
00:39:19
Speaker
I was surprised. They probably could have gotten Zachariah Branch, there's a few other wide receivers they could they could have gotten. That was a really big head stretch scratcher. I mean, they have a lot of wide receivers. They just traded for a lot of two. I kind of understand. number before It's a pretty full room. Yeah, it's true. It's kind of jam-packed. Do we really like anyone in that room? There's a bunch of wide receiver threes. they They're starting to look a little bit like Green Bay, right? Yeah.
00:39:47
Speaker
if If we're being honest, like there's just a bunch of wide receivers that are kind of like interchangeable. From a draft perspective, you don't want to, you don't want to use up a high pick.
00:39:58
Speaker
but Like in fantasy perspective, I'm saying you don't want, you don't want to like really use up a high, like third round or fourth round pick for one of their wide receivers because. Sutton is still there. Waddle is there. Franklin is there. Who's the other guy? There's another guy that's there. Pat pat ah pats White, I believe. Or Brian, sorry. Pat Bryant. brian bri And the tight end, but Evan Ingram is there too, right? So there's so like there's a lot of mouths to feed. There's a lot of wider players there. Is Bo Nix going to throw 5,000 yards?
00:40:26
Speaker
I don't think so. so But Nix is the only guy i like on that team at this point. Honestly, I want to avoid... Yeah, Nix is the only fantasy viable... If anything, Nix is getting a bump, in my opinion, for like next year. you know like well this track He's got a lot of targets. he's got i just ah Again, another running back that high. they could have I feel like they could have addressed potentially other needs.
00:40:48
Speaker
Then my final hate, actually, is going to be Patrick Mahomes. Chiefs went very uncharacteristically, um went defense with their first four picks in the draft. And what was their biggest concern last year, guys?
00:41:02
Speaker
ah The offensive line, right? They didn't draft one offensive line. They didn't sign. They only re-signed one guy on the offensive line. So there was literally no changes to that offensive line that got Pat Mahomes a torn ACL.
00:41:17
Speaker
Seems like that's something you would have wanted to address. You know, they they they four consecutive defensive players, then they picked a wide receiver and a running back, and then finished it off with a dart throw at QB. I guess they picked Nussmeier because they figured that Mahomes was probably going to get injured again, and they're going to need another QB to to step in.
00:41:39
Speaker
But seems like um a weird no-drafting of O-lines for me, and i don't know if Patrick Mahomes should be overly thrilled either. is Is Patrick Mahomes going to start the season? Probably not, right?
00:41:53
Speaker
Oh, he's starting for sure. He's 100% starting. he's starting so Okay, so let's just play some... Question. but That's a little bit of fun. Who's going to be starting quarterback if Pat Mahomes can't go? Is it going to be Justin Fields or Garrett Nussmeyer?
00:42:06
Speaker
There's Garner Minshew still there, too, right? No, Garner Minshew signed with... ah Oh, yeah. Vegas? No. Yes. No, not Vegas.
00:42:17
Speaker
No. No, no, no, no, no. Where's Minshew Mania going? Where's Minshew Mania going? he was He went to... There we go. Arizona. ah that's ah That's a decent pass. They were talking about him and um the QB they just drafted from Miami.
00:42:33
Speaker
Carson Beck? Yeah, they're saying like who's going to win the number two job there. I remember going crazy Well, it's the same conversation here, right? Who's going to win the number two job in in Kansas City? it might not necessarily be Justin Fields. Yeah, it's Justin Fields.
00:42:44
Speaker
You think they're going to trot out a seventh round pick? Yeah. I highly, highly doubt that. Highly doubt that.
00:42:54
Speaker
I don't think it's that crazy to say just because he's seventh-round pick. I don't know. Anyway, that's that's a conversation to be had. Because he's a seventh-round pick. Why? Because Justin Fields is what he is what he is. He's got to he's why he's got experience. If he's got to step in for a couple of games, I'd i'd rather trust Fields over Nussmeier, who hasn't played a snap in the NFL.
00:43:15
Speaker
Well, listen, but our loyal listeners, let us know in the comments, say Who do you think should be this number two quarterback for Kansas City Chiefs? Should it be Justin Fields or Max's boyfriend? Or should it be Garrett Nussmeier? I don't know. that point At that point, Alex Smith. Just bring back Alex Smith.
00:43:30
Speaker
imagine Imagine. Trent Green. Alex Smith one leg. Elvis Burbach.
00:43:38
Speaker
That'll do it for my losers in... um losers in um this draft, Bob, don't take us home? Yeah. ah So my losers. So I know we mentioned about the Philly quarterback room, ah specifically, sorry, Jalen hurts and how he's a winner.

Eagles' Receiving Core Competition

00:43:52
Speaker
Well, a bit of a loser is also Devante Smith. um Despite the fact that, you know there's gonna of targets that should be available once AJ Brown does get traded.
00:44:01
Speaker
But the addition of Makai lemon and stowers sort of confirms that, you know, the target share is going to get a little bit smaller for him. um it's still it's still There's still a lot of mouths to feed, right? There's still Dallas Goddard there as well, right? So there and obviously there's going a lot targets that will go to Saquon Barkley. We can't forget about that and and that potential target hog over there too. So um I just, I feel like Devontae Smith keeps on getting the short end of the stick ever since he's been drafted into the NFL. We're talking about a formark former Heisman Trophy winning wide receiver.
00:44:33
Speaker
The guy's barely cracked a thousand yards. birds's a few times. He's never hit double-digit touchdowns. And I just feel like this could have been what what could have been. And now it's like, hmm, you got to take a step back here.
00:44:46
Speaker
Because Makai Lemon, like they traded up for him. They want him. There's a lot of that's going go towards him. that's just... i don't know. like I feel like there's a bit of a cap ceiling there from wide receiver two standpoint as to what could have been maybe wide receiver one territory finally for Devontae Smith.
00:44:59
Speaker
count My counter... Sorry, go ahead. My counter is that the goalball deep shots that typically would go to AJ Brown, that Jalen Hurts, that's his best throw, are going to go to Devante Smith. And he's a very good route runner, not just from deep and intermediate. So I i really can see your point, but...
00:45:20
Speaker
I actually think this could be a big year for Devante Smith. There was pictures of them working out together in Philly too. You know, whenever you see the off season workout photos, you know, you you know, the guys are are locked in it's off season workout photo season.
00:45:33
Speaker
ah So that's, that's my counter. I, I just think high on it. I get you. I get your point. I think it caps his ceiling though. That's, that's my, that's my thing. You know, like what could have been ah like a,
00:45:45
Speaker
finally like a pop-off season for him is going to be similar to what but his best season already was, which was like 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns. like Sorry, Nick. I wish... It's not i would a bad season, but... Yeah.
00:45:57
Speaker
I wish Lemon just went to the Rams. Like, I just wish he went to the Rams where everyone predicted him. That would have been fun to watch, man. That would have been so fun. Guys, they need a Ty Simpson. They need a Ty Simpson. You don't know this. You don't know how... They would have actually been baptized instead of his. Oh, yeah. For sure.
00:46:12
Speaker
He was so angry. He was so upset. Yeah. He's so upset. I mean, Stafford must be so upset, too. For sure. Do you know who else is upset? Like, First round. Yeah, i go ahead.
00:46:24
Speaker
I'm saying first round you do draft a QB in the first round when you guys are like on the cusp of your Super Bowl window and you didn't get them a weapon. They didn't they had they had a an atrocious draft, I think, by by my standards.
00:46:38
Speaker
They had a really, really bad draft, especially they drafted first and then they didn't pick for a while. I think they didn't pick till round four or something, something like that. It was just a weird, weird draft. And they got... just... It was not what expected. Yeah. Why did they take a tight end? They have like a million tight ends. Tight end. That tight end room is stacked to the gills. And they're good. It's not that they're bad. Then they took a tight end. It was such a weird, weird draft because typically they draft so incredibly well and they really, really...
00:47:12
Speaker
it was It was not great. They must be very content with their wide receiver room as it is right now because I don't know if Puka is even going to start the season realistically. The guys in rehab and God knows what's going on with him. No, seriously. Rehab in the NFL. Look at Vrabel. He's already back. Rehab in the NFL means nothing. It's a formality. It's more you have an aging Devontae Adams, right? Aging Devontae Adams and there's no really clear number three There, right? Lemon would have been perfect for that offense. Perfect. Yeah. Perfect. Yeah. Oh, it's too bad. And now they're gonna be upset. Just like this guy is going to be

Cardinals' Crowded Running Back Lineup

00:47:50
Speaker
upset right now. Mr. Tyler Algier and every single other running back route and single ah every single other running back within the Carolina.
00:47:57
Speaker
a ah Jesus, Arizona Cardinals. I can't really speak right now. This episode is running for 50 minutes. can't realistically keep four, right? On the roster? I think Benson. Well, they will because... So now they have Love.
00:48:09
Speaker
Jeremiah Love. They have Connor. They Algier. And they have Trey Benson. Trey Benson, guy, is he healthy? I have no idea. The guy was injured in week six and then never came back after he was supposed to be rehabbing and all that stuff. But anyways, every single running back on the... call Cardinals offense right now is a bit of a loser in my opinion.
00:48:25
Speaker
The only one that i would like to own is Jeremiah Love, obviously. But even then, like, I'm not really, I'm not feeling overly confident in starting him in an RB1. Actually, I'm feeling zero confidence in starting him in an And he would only be there as an RB2.
00:48:39
Speaker
Because when you have a pack running room running back room like this, i mean, how? I'm sorry. Like, Raj, you you're pushing back on this? go get got People are going to get got. I'm not pushing back at all. You know how I feel about this. People are going to get got. People will pick Jeremiah Love in the top 10 as bi usual.
00:48:57
Speaker
yeah People will get got. Unless Conor somehow gets traded, his debt cap is $4.5 million. four and a half million dollars They just signed him. They just signed him, though. It's not a lot. They didn't sign him for a big money contract. They could easily get out of it. But they knew they had the third overall pick since the beginning of the offseason. Why would you sign Conor? Everything I read was that the owners, they either wanted to trade down and go O-line or go Reese. But the owners, the Bidwells, they ended up saying, hey, let's make a splash. Let's sell some tickets. Let's get Jaromar I love. make no sense. This is the dumbest draft. The pick itself didn't make any sense, especially with the roster that they had. They need so much more help. They're not a running back away.
00:49:42
Speaker
Yeah, well, when you draft the running back high, that's what you're really telling the world is that you were a piece, a big piece away from you know making a run at something. and yeah I don't know, Tyler Algier must be besides himself. he He thought he was going there to start, and now he's probably playing third down again.
00:50:00
Speaker
Yeah. Ridiculous. And he's a very good running back, which is kind of unfortunate. Now they have a ridiculously stack. Oh, and they have Zonovan Knight. they Bam Knight. Is he still there? Yeah, he's on the roster.
