And my question is, what is your favorite band shirt? Oh. i like that question you know it's funny people will stop me like on the street if i'm wearing certain shirts which is kind of kind of sweet um but you know what's funny i think my favorite one uh was a susie one from peep show And I made the mistake of selling it. I should never have sold it but I sold it And I just loved it because it was just a really well done shirt. The graphic was really simple and really cool. And I'm just, I'm struggling to think of, has there been others? Because I get disappointed when shirts are lame, you know? um

And I probably have to say that one of my one of my favorites is my Gary Neumann Pure shirt from the Pure tour. Because I think it was one of my first. Cool.

Yeah, that was one of my first Gary Neumann shirts. And it's just white. I don't even think it has anything on the back. And it just it's that white image from ah from his Pure ah cover. And it just says Pure on it. It's just a simple t-shirt, but it's one I love.

What I hated about the early years was the the shirts were always so thin. Like they were poorly made, you know, and ah and it seemed like it was a long time before they started putting out shirts that were of, you know, proper quality, you know. So there's there was screen prints that I really liked, the shirts were crap, you know. So for the first time where it was like, oh, this is a good mix of quality and graphic, it's for sure that one for me.

it's not just me. But, see, like, I know I'm an extra large. And most of my stuff is just fits nice comfortably and extra large. But I put on a band shirt. Like, my B-52s that I'm wearing right now, like, it's like a body tight. Really? Yeah. I feel like I'm wearing, you know, some spandex leggings on my chest. I think because at the end of the tours, they lie about the sizes. Yeah. All we got left is large, so sell it as XL.

Yeah, it's just weird. I don't know if you find that, but I just find that band shirts are usually too small. Well, I find that like the shirts that I have from the 80s and the 90s that are XL are definitely smaller yeah of the current XL. that tells you you know they they do change.

After the flop of Relax and then the reissue of Relax and then all of a sudden, here we go, you know. Yeah, they were they were certainly a juggernaut that year. But let's go back to the Cult Rain. what Why the 12-inch? Was it a different mix? It's it's because I'm a percussion guy. and the percussion and the slow build, it's just one of those perfect 12-inch where they're not wasting time. They're not dragging it out. They're not just like, oh, it's a minute longer.

You know, it's it's the percussion, it's the groove, it's the song itself. But it's just for me as a fan, just the the opening minute is just godlike. And to be honest, it's kind of it's not like, but like Prince's 12-inch that year, ah Raspberry Beret, starts off just killer. You know what I mean? How did you how did you discover this stuff? uh for me i was still pretty much the british tabloids you know tabloids right word that sounded like yeah we'll call them tabloids the music press that's i think what i'm saying yeah because i was i was getting a little older so even though i still cared about number one and smash hits you know things like enemy in the face were also part of what i was reading and Back then, if it was the label that you liked, you could always take a chance. If it was the sleeve that you liked, it never let you down. you know what I mean? and any review, there's just a few key words where I'm like, yep, I know I'm going to love that song or that band. And I don't know if I ever in my whole life bought something based on a review that I didn't like.

Yeah. unless it's just to show off what he has like i mean that nicely but yeah yeah you totally but you know what's funny there was there was a 12 inch from the blow monkeys that i never got and when you and i went to victoria there was a store that had it thought oh i can't really drag this around but i'm like but i never ever found this and here it is i'm like what do i do that haunted me that victoria record store haunted me for a few years before i finally the tracks got issued on cd so i'm like oh i'm very happy i don't have to worry about it actually it was one of those weird double groove ones where depending on where your needle landed it played this song or if it landed this way it played a different song you know these were 12 inch mixes right but anyway bc record stores

yeah Yeah, that that reminded me of a couple of stories, but one of them was that, no, I was going to just say um I had a couple of stories about records that I missed out on and it haunted me. And one of them was way back, way back. There was a compilation record that I saw only in one time, and it was New Man by Gary Neumann.

And it was it was stuff I probably already had. i don't think there was anything new or special on it. But I just kept looking at it going, oh, my God, i have to have this because, you know, of course, I had to have everything. completely just didn't have the 20 bucks for an import record at that time.

And then by the time I got back there, it was gone, of course. And I just I've never hunted it down. I'm sure I could find a dozen copies. yeah But it was one of those ones that for the longest time, I'm just like, oh, why didn't I buy that? There might have been something good.

I haven't gone back and checked recently to see if there was actually anything on it, but it's just one of those things. You know, it's funny, import albums, like the full album, they were a fortune here back in the day. And if you wanted the Japanese press, it was like, oh, that's going to take a lot of allowance to save up for that.

And what else was going to say? yeah. singles collections or greatest hits it's funny how convenient those were you know i don't have to ah haul out like six different records i'm gonna play the singles collection you know this is great it's so convenient Well, I love that now when artists are doing re-releases or remasters and then they give you that disc with all the rare B-sides and mixes.

And I was in theater school, and then all sudden i had a whole new batch of people to to hang out with, and they were bringing new influences. I think that the song, and it's not that it's my favorite song of 85, but I think a song that that when I was looking at a bunch of different things in 85, this song stood out for me because it was one of those songs where it kind of represented sort of a calm for me in a lot of chaos. Because 85 was a bumpy year personally.

And it's Johnny Come Home from Finding Em Cannibals off their their first album. Mm-hmm. And i i I was trying to rack my brain trying to figure out where I would have heard it. And was probably in the clubs. i was still you know going into clubs and the on the weekends. And that's probably where I heard it. I don't know if it got a lot of radio play.

So he he picked it up and he did it in 69. And it was number one Billboard. It was his actually his last Billboard hit. Really? Yeah, that to hit number one. So that was that was a big song for him.
