Speaker: Hello, you are listening to the all new Anti-Fanboy Podcast for the week of September the 7th, 2026.

Speaker: It's like we're just, now we're in sync. We're finally in sync with the first week is the seventh. There's seven days of the week. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to talk about, you know, so things in September. We're starting up.

Speaker: We're having fun. My name's Devin Kopeck, and I am out of breath. And if I'm very, very loud, I apologize because I'm screamingly loud in my ears. But the guys said I'm not that loud. Guys, including Steve O'Teary.

Speaker: I think he's not that loud. I think he is right at the level he needs to be. Chris Galandi. I see like like so not peaking at all. Like, it's absolutely perfect right now. I don't see what you're talking about. And the man who invented deafness, John Suarez.

Speaker: Why'd you invent that, dude? That's bad. You just woke up one day and you said, you said you know what People shouldn't be allowed to hear anymore. You know why? Because the less people hear you.

Speaker: Yeah. Wow. You know what? Chris just served you a glass of shut the hell up juice. Yeah, man. I'm sorry. Damn, bro. You know what? I sent you guys a real nice message, and then this is what I get. I get a shut the F up. You did. apologize. I get left on red, and then I get told to shut the F up.

Speaker: I'll be honest with you. I didn't know how to respond to that. It was too nice. It was too sweet. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how to work with that. That's a male epidemic right there.

Speaker: That is a serious problem. That is a real problem. i be You're absolutely right. Like my like my friend just now gave me a real heartfelt message. I don't want to say i don't want to say Jenny guilted me into it because she absolutely did not. But I was like, oh, what what are you what were you doing outside? She's like, oh, I was just texting all the girls like thank you notes.

Speaker: And it's funny is I texted some of the girls thank you notes for like taking Jenny out. i was like, oh, my God, you know, really meant a lot. And i was like, wow. Why don't I send the guys one of these?

Speaker: That was guilt. That was the mushiest fucking thing. know. made Sam cry a little bit. I'm why are you crying? I was like, this is lame. Let's just this out loud. This is lame and it's fucking soft. You know what? You are allowed to read it. I'll read it. Dear friends. Yeah.

Speaker: ah dear dear friends um You know what? This is... That's it. That's all it was. Yeah, that's how I... I mean, I don't understand... Did misunderstand something? Did misunderstand something? I mean, that's how I read it. Nah, that's pretty much what it came out to. so So the version I got of that said... loma

Speaker: No, it said, guys, a big thank you ah to all... ah A big fat thank you to all of you, especially John for setting this all up. Amir is the man. You guys are fucking awesome and gave me the best weekend in a very long time. Best friends a guy could ask for. Love you, bros. It wasn't the best weekend of your life, though.

Speaker: Fuck yeah, no, no, you know what hit the hardest I You know what and then what was what was the best weekend? Oh, yeah, that's not the best ever. That's not fair Fair, that's not fair. I'm not gonna lie. It probably included Buffalo chicken pizza and like Kingdom Hearts dude Wasn't even John a con damn, bro

Speaker: John was pretty gone. John just sticks out because um I publicly failed to eat that quadruple bypass. And you guys all just I mean, we fucking clogged. We clogged my toilet. We couldn't unplug it. Yeah. ah but fucking We turn we watched the we watched rain turn into a fucking basketball junkie like overnight. when That was and be wild. Yeah.

Speaker: Wow. Interesting. Yeah. You know, watched a fan of basketball before that. Wait, I guess not. I mean, I don't know. I mean, I think he was, but i don't think he was like, was that also the weekend right you guys played really toxic Looney Tunes b-ball too? Yes. Oh yeah. that is Yeah. You know what?

Speaker: That is fun. Oh yeah. It got toxic. It got toxic. And Mega Man soccer too. Like that was, that was Mega Man soccer too. yeah Wow, you guys really broed out. Yeah, that was also the year. That was the weekend where Rain just sucked all of the fun out of ah Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Oh, yeah, you fucking waxed everybody. yeah like Because he wasn't even having fun with it. He was just like quiet. and just he made He was so much better than us, it wasn't even remotely enjoyable. to I played someone like that in New York at that the the same game. It was my first experience with that game.

Speaker: like playing. Oh, really? The first one? Yeah. it was ah the my first time ever playing. It was Marvel vs. Capcom 3, right? First time yeah ever try ever even touching it. And I just was just getting eaten alive.

Speaker: Like every every time. i never went back. I never went back. Yeah. Yeah, I was like, oh, yeah. Like, I knew enough to, like, don't know, be competitive with, like, Steve and, like, John. But, like, you know, Rain was like, no.

Speaker: No, I'm just going to cor you corner you with infinite combos. Fuck you. That's exactly what I do. See, I play video games for fun. I know. and there so There's some sickos out there who like, they're they're there to ruin get-togethers. That's like their purpose. and He was on a mission, man. you know he succeeded. Wait, John, d you do you not hold back when you're playing like with a group just for fun?

Speaker: Well, it depends. like It depends. like There's like... Like at my nephew's ah birthday earlier this year, you know I went... I rinsed those kids under the sink. becauses Because it's funny. It was funny, yeah. yeah well like when we would When we would all play Street Fighter 4, I wouldn't just fucking play be Balrog every time. That's what I mean. Yeah, that's yeah yeah. You made those fun. Yeah, we make it fun.

Speaker: We make it fun. Yeah, we make it fun. He was like, I'm not bored. We knew. But yeah, Rain was just like, no, but you know, I've heard this from Stinn before. Like that, like that's why Stinn doesn't play fighting games because it he turned, because his brother turns into a fucking monster when it comes to those games, you know?

Speaker: Well, like i I've experienced it multiple times in various, from various people in my life where, yeah, there's just like, see what was the worst? Like, what was the worst game? You have to say the person, but.

Speaker: Street Fighter 4? Oh, God. John Swire, Street Fighter 4. No, because like we we you know we had a good time playing that. Even if you were watching me. Yeah, because I would go random or I would like... you know yeah Yeah, and maybe I'd get around it every once a while. Maybe feel like, you know, look at this. And then the one time I beat Devin at Devin's apartment with Zangief, and I took his mane away from him. To my mane? Remember? yeah at mean away I think I deleted the game that night, and I've yet to catch it again. john that's your that's your Jeffrey Dahmer coming out of it. My God. That's your Dahmer. My worst behavior, I think, socially with the game was, ah I think, NFL.

Speaker: Or not NFL, but ah Blitz the League 2. um where I distinctly remember a moment where I i scored on Steve. It scored on Steve and I jumped up and shoved his head into the like the side of his head into my crotch.

Speaker: out Of, you know, celebration. My God. And Steve shoved me very hard. And i was like, oh, I definitely took that little too extreme. I was a little over the top there.

Speaker: like, motherfucker, I don't even own this game. i came over to your house. And I was like, oh, shit. I got to doll it back a little bit. yeah even black that a little bit you There was one game that you kind of ran all of us on. Was it Punch Out? No, no. so there was he was really good at Punch Out. There was um Fight Night round two round three. And I was really good at it.

Speaker: Like I could and and this version of of fight night, there was no weight classes like there were weight classes, but you could do featherweight versus heavyweight. Right.

Speaker: And I was always Manny Pacquiao and I was just washing everybody. And then Steve was like, oh, there's a creative character mode in this game. And then he made Rocky Balboa, more accurate Rocky Balboa. That's right. like yeah not Not like perfect stats. It was stat accurate. Rocky Balboa. It was like, you know, pretty good stats. ah Heart was Max and Steve. I just could not win.

Speaker: And it was like li it was in my head, like literally. I think I started strong and then I just couldn't put you away. And all of a sudden I ran out of stamina and then you just you fucking took it from me.

Speaker: And I was like, oh, you know, it's probably because, you know, hey, he's a heavyweight and I was, a um you know, whatever, 145 pounds, whatever it was. and then but like literally he broke the spell like i could never get my skill back in that game wow home like number i jumped on like with other characters and other and other like real boxers and i was just like ah like steve would beat me tim would beat me and everyone was beating me and i was like And I just, I don't know, man. I really don't know what happened, but Rocky Balboa definitely.

Speaker: Well, he got anybody he's gonna if anybody's going to take you down, it's it's rock. Yeah, I know. Well, that was that was the good. i was like, oh, hello was hey I lost the Balboa. But then I was just losing to anybody.

Speaker: Oh, you well you got you got the yips. i Yeah. hip's Dad, man. Oh, man. John, you ever get the yips with any fighting games? Or just anything. Dude, when i when I was on stream.

Speaker: Really? Remember when was at the Philly tournament and and they put me on stream? You guys remember that, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was a Lily Mirror match. like i it like I was like, oh, fuck. Well, I don't have a fucking excuse if I lose to this guy. Yeah. I lost. i got waxed.

Speaker: Yeah, was pretty... um but yeah I was just like ah like, you know, when you're... Yeah, I guess... I haven't played. i I'm not like a super experienced tournament player in Street Fighter, but it's it's different. Right. When you line up next to somebody you don't know. my God. Yeah, of course. I'm just like, you know, I'm not I'm not saying that I'm like shaking or anything, but like, you know, I'm just like anxiety kicks in.

Speaker: Yeah. And I missed the free throws, you know. Oh, the worst. Yeah. OK, so the worst was Devin. Did I drag you? with me to street fighter four tournament that was near Atlantic city. It's a new house. Do you remember that?

Speaker: Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Remember that. Right. I took you with me. Yeah. Yeah. I beat, I think I beat the first, maybe the first and second guy that I played. And then like the third guy I played.

Speaker: Yeah. And then the third guy played, should have won, but like, cause it was Honda. It was a good, it was a good matchup for Balrog and I knew the matchup. Well, And I just i fucked up. Like I – what was it? It wasn't that I fucked up a combo. It was I made the wrong decision on what to do. Like I think I i read his headbutt and I did my headbutt. And if I did my ultra combo, I would have won. But I chose not to and just chose Oki instead. And then he just fucking did a random Ocho throw or something. And then like at the end, like the guy was like, dude, you fucking had me.

Speaker: but he was like you fucked up i was like yeah no i know was like i know dude he was cool but like he was like dude you should have beaten you fucked up like yeah i know yeah the yips happens the champions yeah you know fuck pass the ball to matisse thiebel when Trey Young's in your face in the paint, instead of punching that shit, you know, don't compare yourself to him.

Speaker: don do I'm just saying that's not, but yeah, yeah. The yips is a real thing, but it know it only happens in like that stuff. Like it doesn't happen to mean like, you know, important things, I guess. Like,

Speaker: work i i don't care yeah yeah no it's not i don't know it's not like um you don't get work yips i'm forgetting how to do it i don't know i don't if anything i'll like i'll ramble a lot at work or something and then i'll start sweating a little bit when i'm talking but it's not like i'll like yeah bubble and then stutter you know like i won't i wouldn't like you know Like I know sometimes when I'm just like, i I don't know where I'm, I don't know where this conversation is. Oh, that's the word. You're made. I don't know what I'm talking about. I got to wrap this up.

Speaker: like yeah I'm hoping somebody stops me or has a question. Yeah, this is just... I am speaking myself into trouble. That would happen to me all the time where I'm like, I could have answered this question in 10 seconds. And it's we're at a minute 20.

Speaker: And, you know, I'm still going. So, no, that's a struggle, man. That's a struggle. Yeah, that's, think, a human. Yeah, because I feel like the yips are more like...

Speaker: I guess like with where I'm at currently, because I'm so ignorant to a lot of other elements as a part of my job, I don't really think they're the yips. They're just me trying to like figure out what the hell I'm talking about, essentially.

Speaker: um But, yeah, dude, everybody gets the yips. I forget what comedian. I think it was Louis C.K. And he was talking about how when you get older, like... You're just confidently incorrect about everything.

Speaker: If someone asks you about something, you just make it. You do know how to talk a little bit better. You just make shit up. And you're like, wow, that sounds good. And they're going to believe it because you're older.

Speaker: Oh, okay. And you're kind of like, I can't believe they listen to me. I'm like, I can't believe they listen to me. Maybe you learn a lot about people, I think. think mean When you get older and you talk, especially when you talk to younger people, like ah there is that.

Speaker: It's not necessarily a disconnect, but there is a ah wisdom gap. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. Yeah. that's That's difficult to navigate. Yeah. But it's fun when you you do successfully tell somebody to do something and they only listen to you because you're older than them.

Speaker: That is something. That's something I'm slowly getting used to. I do that ah the most at the dog park. I'm hey, grab that thing. Grab that thing right there. they oh And I'm like, yeah. Hey, but spread that thing out real quick. And then they just listen to me. And I'm like, yeah. Are you talking it's about the dogs? No, no Just like think like um the hose or the dog pulls or something like that. Like, oh, no. Twist that knob, not that knob.

Speaker: You know, any time it just has to do with... um dog So Devin, you're you're basically that guy in that Key and Peele sketch with the peanuts. You're like, what are you youngins up to? Oh, I remember. Running wild, stealing VCRs and TVs. They were just like moving. They were a moving company. Well, to be fair, i um I am also the guy that's like, I'll just do it. And then I just lift the entire dog pool up full of water because it was stronger than everyone else. That's also a an apparent thing. Yeah, I'm um much stronger than, um you know, a bunch of mothers, single mothers. broke a door handle.

Speaker: I didn't even know that. that Whoa. that anymore Like, how did you break it? Like, did you rip it off the door or did you, like, squeeze it and it turned into, like, ah like a metal goo? Well, here's the thing. What? It wasn't, like, a superheated pressurized grip that melted it and burned it all at the same time. Oh, are you secretly mutant, Chris? Is that...

Speaker: i There is a door that doesn't doesn't close properly, and it's a door that needs to stay secure. Something needs to be fixed, honestly. But I have to make sure it's closed every night, and I kind of jiggle the handle. Well, I guess I i jiggle a little too hard nowadays, and now it's like half hanging on.

Speaker: like it's Like I pulled the bolt out of the door with the handles connected to. Uh, yeah, I didn't, and I honestly did not know.

Speaker: i did not think I gave that any more pressure than i normally do. you know, but it's, it felt like it bent in my hand. Oh, I was like, fuck.

Speaker: You know, immediately it officially break or you're like, I'll deal with this when I'm back. Yeah. I'll tell you, I'll tell you what, Chris, like there's always been like this thing, especially when we played smash brothers where we always made sure you had a game cube controller because those were the only controllers that could contain the bounty that you do. I'm very, I guess i I'm extremely heavy handed. That's something I've slowly come to terms with. Devin's kind of, we're kind of in the same boat.

Speaker: You're a little bit more depth. I think i have a lighter touch. You you can kind of tell me based on like handwriting, I think. Yeah, I press pretty hard when I mention it like when I write. And it bleeds through.

Speaker: Because it's very funny because like I don't think I have a great handwriting, but I feel like in situations like y'all have always like passed me up as the one with nice handwriting and I'm always like, well, you are more artistically, you know, like you can draw better than us. And yeah, yeah, that's fair.

Speaker: That's why we always assumed. But I still think my my hand is is heavy when I'm doing stuff like I guess it's a matter of like, i don't know it's anxiety, but it's like pressure. You know, you're like trying to write something quickly.

Speaker: Yeah, you're just you're just trying to put something down. get I am always write like that, I think, though. I don't think there's any other form that I take. it's all Right. like I used to be a real heavy presser, and now I'm ah i have a much lighter... time I basically, I think i've I've devolved, to be completely honest, because it like it's almost like my own shorthand now.

Speaker: Oh, OK. Go back to read it. And it's been more than like two days. I'm like, I don't know what this is. like I tell you what, though, I'm goofed. Excellent at fingerprints.

Speaker: Like if they came in with like a little ink pad and they tried to get your like your fingerprints. Press it down hard. Oh, you're getting you're getting every read. You're getting it every. They just they just touch it for me. Like they like they'll just hold your hands and your fingers for you.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. If you get fingerprinted. nowadays yeah they do they do grab your finger yeah yeah they're just like we'll just fucking do it we'll do it for you I do that to get my CRC certification to work where I work I have to get my fingerprints taken which was kind of weird But that is part of it.

Speaker: Yeah, each each finger. i Can you imagine Steve's like, no, no, no, I'll do it. No, no, no, don't worry. and no no no no Allow me. and And by the way, the one I did was completely electronic now, too. Oh, yeahy whoa yeah. They don't even have ink? You don't you don't got to wash your hands afterwards? It's a scanner.

Speaker: Yeah. We truly are in times. And then you get to figure out which fingers you have are freak fingers because they have to re-scan it like three or four times. Yeah, it's my pinky. Oh, that's yours? the free My pinky might not have fingerprints. My middle of my right hand is um is specifically jacked up because I i have scar tissue over my fingertip.

Speaker: Oh, did you use the Men in Black orb that burns your fingertips off? I was thinking that too, Chris. No. evan It was when i my finger got slammed in a door. Yeah. That's way less cool. Yeah, yeah. And all the, ah not to be too gross, but all the meat on my finger pad was ripped out. yeah That was one of the worst one of the worst ones i think I've ever had.

Speaker: I remember as a child watching someone's finger get stuck in between one of those sliding van doors. saw that too. I think we were in the same moment. I think we were both in the same vehicle. I don't know who it was though. I don't remember who it was. I think it was my van too, my white van. Yeah, that was like essentially Mortal Kombat fatality in person. Is that my brain?

Speaker: Maybe. That's the thing. I think our brains blocked out who it was. Like maybe, you know what, Chris? Here's the thing. Maybe it was another friend of ours who after that incident never never wanted to hang out again. Yeah. He had probably had flattened ass freak fingers from getting caught in there. looked like a little hot dog.

Speaker: It's like that kid who punched it in the face, Steve, from across the gym. when I do. I, to this and day, feel bad. yeah because he was eating bugles. And I, for some reason, I saw, so I saw him coming out. He had a little bag of bugles. And this was like a friend of mine. And I was like, you know, it'd be funny.

Speaker: if I ran and screamed while I was running and pretended to be Wolverine, and pretended to slash this kid across the face with my adamantium claws. And I, that's the thing is i don't have the dexterity to gauge a high speed running, jumping punch and also narrowly missing purposefully.

Speaker: So I just did all that and punched this person in the face and they spat out all their bugles, which I thought was their teeth at the time. Oh. There was an incident in basketball, however, when I accidentally, they passed me the ball. And you know when you kind of throw your elbows up to like, you know, get get people from like away from you? Yeah, exactly. I did that to a kid who just got ah braces that day and I hit him square in the mouth. And this kid was spitting blood and brace into the little water fountain all night. that It was bad, dude. it's as fault like I also jumped on a kid's ankle.

Speaker: Actually, i blame a certain coach who told us to do that right now. Yeah, you know what kind of do? i I think that's way too hard for children's basketball. Dude, the last thing you should be doing playing is playing contact sports after getting your teeth...

Speaker: That is true. Rearranged medically. He just didn't know who he was going up against. He was going up against it. Like Chris said, our coach took this sport way too serious for, I don't know.

Speaker: How old were we? 12, 13, 12 year old kids elbowing. Yeah. He told us to do that. That's true. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, back then, that was real basketball. Mm-hmm. The stuff we have today. Jordan-esque, right? Yeah, we didn't have little ah circles under the hoop to protect you from getting bounced. And I didn't flop, Devin. No flopping. know he flo I used to, people used to get knocked the fuck out. Yeah. You know what Chris's nickname was?

Speaker: The wall. Cause he would come flying at you like a brick wall would. If it, it if it flew here in our coach, yell on the sideline, keep your hands up. Get him in his face.

Speaker: Poke his eyes out. Get his eyes.

Speaker: So the thing with our coach was he didn't know how to brush his teeth properly. So he always had toothpaste stains on the corners of his mouth that made him look rabid. way like hip or something I think that was just spit. cause he You think that was just natural spit? Let me tell you why. I think he was always talking. like I think you're right. He would never shut the fuck up. And like it would just his mouth would get dried out and that was just like that like foamy spit you get after you like, just keep talking. You know what I mean? Like it kind accumulates. Cause yeah, he was kind of foaming at the mouth.

Speaker: yeah It was not wrong. It was funny because he had two kids and one kid was like, there was like the hard kid who was really into basketball. And then there was like the soft kid who was just doing it because his dad was the coach.

Speaker: The soft kid was kind of an asshole, too. Oh, that's I i don't remember details. Yeah, he was totally nonplussed about the entire experience. And then there was our friend Dave, who he was angry. Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Mellowed out. Angry, violent kids. Playing basketball. Yeah, it was. We were the bad news bears of basketball. Whoo. that's Yeah, we we were like the Detroit Pistons.

Speaker: I would think Chris was our Latrell Sprewell playing basketball. I don't think you were like official NBA team, the Detroit Pistons. I almost got in a fist fight one year. were as good as the Hornets, I'd say.

Speaker: Well, the Detroit Pistons weren't necessarily good. They just beat people up. All right. Yeah, fair enough. Cross-street bullies of basketball.

Speaker: Anyway, what are we here talking about? Basketball. I'm not here to talk about basketball. go say If you ever really want to want a stereotypical white guy, it's ah let's go white guys talk about sports they played in their in great school. When they were children. Back in the heyday. Back in the heyday. When it mattered. when i When I was in my athletic prime at the age of seven. I was not in my athletic The 90s was definitely the prime of like probably the most popular the NBA was. Yeah, definitely.

Speaker: I mean, it blew up and, you know, rightfully so. It's still incredibly popular. Like, don't don't doubt me on that. But like, dude, that was funny is like, a vibe I think it was, um I think, culturally the most popular.

Speaker: But like, if you probably it's probably like far more successful now. probably make a more Probably. Yeah, that's what I mean. it's It's making way more money now. but How many little penny dolls do you have, Devin?

Speaker: mean Six or seven? About ten. Ten or fifteen. Say seven!

Speaker: Speaking of which, um we were on episode four of Lanterns this week.

Speaker: Everybody up to date here? Mm-hmm. I'm up. um I got to watch it last night and I woke up and I was like, leave me alone, woman. and like this This is my CTV now, right? This is by this is so this is that especially after this episode. yeah Oh my God. Is this the best episode so far? Or is it still three? they still think three is. Yeah. Three was excellent, but this is this show is like from minute one to the end, you are hooked. You are engaged. Absolutely.

Speaker: It's very plot heavy, you know, really, really cycling through what's what's actually going on in in the town. And ah yeah, no, I, I, I think it's still wonderful. You know, it's still a really also immature and in a lot of ways. like There's a lot of like that, that structure called the weenie. Painting that guy's dick. That's so funny, dude. It was very like kind of silly times. was really impressed that he he went through with it.

Speaker: Like I thought when he gave him the picture, but but he was locked in, dude. He was locked in. I think he was, he was less unfazed about painting him than he was about even.

Speaker: no he was, he was equally as unfazed about all the men carrying weapons around him. Like it, it felt like the same type of interaction. Like he had no care that he was going to die. yeah he wasn't He was not afraid, fearless, like a Green Lantern should be. In fact, he was like giving him orders. He was like, can you stand still? Yeah. Stop moving around. Literally, Mason was like, you know, we can't kill a Green Lantern, but we can kill something like that.

Speaker: isn't a green lantern and he like looked at John and John's just sitting there casually drawing still right he's literally threatening him right hey I'm sorry can you not move your shoulders so much which I think it's just a really fun interaction um in the show And yeah, they were very close to death. And Zoe ah what called the sheriff. And then that it kind of broke up that tense moment, you know?

Speaker: um But yeah, it's just... they They routinely have been putting themselves in this episode in like in extreme harm's way and just kind of are extremely casual. Yeah. Very like, hey, the kind of cracking jokes. Like, it's very classic...

Speaker: superhero shit, but it's fun to see it in the context of fearless individuals. Yeah. John was kind of dishing out some of the jokes too, this week. And it was, it was, it was a fun back and forth between John and how,

Speaker: like like they They are so unfazed and and nonplussed that they are you know like, how much do you weigh? He's like 185. Give or take. And when he said it, he's just like staring ahead. He's obviously lying a little bit. ah He's just being like ah like a prick about it. you know um Yeah, it's it's it's interesting to watch that in the context of them being Greenlanders.

Speaker: I really like that the way this episode kind of started and like a little bit later on in the beginning of it, where both Sinestro and the guardians are putting into how and John's head that they need to um like kind of other take it basically kind of like, like them against each other. Yeah, like they need to like take out the other one before anything happens and neither of them do anything like, the you know, they definitely like kind of like have that presented and they have like those moments, but like neither of them go through with it because like, you know, that's really not who they are.

Speaker: Exactly. Yeah. And it's it's I think then not really understanding them to a degree. Now, this could be a test. I really don't know. like It could be one big test by the guard. I doubt it, though, because i don't think they the the issue with the Guardians is they have no family. They're emotionalists like they they don't understand. They can't really relate to Earthlings.

Speaker: At all. So these what they're what they're doing, the the way they're acting out is so just like alien, obviously, to them. So yeah, it's they they can't forecast Hal.

Speaker: And they think that's a problem. But I don't think they can forecast John's story either. No, 100%. They are giving him the job, but they're also in the same boat with John, like not being able to understand and relate to him.

Speaker: And he's doing things outside of their control. But, you know, yeah, it's cool. That's cool to see John do that. It looks like that's true character growth. oh They they cast perfectly for this show.

Speaker: Yeah, I think so. I think, you know, these two are going to be the Jon Stewart and Hal Jordan for the D.C. They better be. Like, holy shit, that scene with the the space laser. Dude, you know, seeing Hal seeing hal fucking lock in too. Dude, where he was like, fucking point.

Speaker: Yeah, fucking point. I was like, hell yeah, dude. I will be real with you. I don't think for the main for these main characters of the DC universe, I don't think there has been a really bad casting choice.

Speaker: I think they've all been very good. Yeah. Right. and just the yeah The source material around maybe one of them is not great. I guess Superman wasn't that good of a casting. Maybe David Cornswept. You're going to argue that one. Wait, if you were, if you would rank them right now, like who would be like the top, the top three ranked like best casters. best We're talking just main characters. We're not talking like, yeah.

Speaker: Guy Gardner. Or any of them too. You could say you could throw Guy Gardner in there. yeah Throw in throw in the ah the Justice Gang in there as well. I think David Cornswed is the one that surprised me so I guess I'd put that one at one. He's like, I mean it's weird because his, him as a person is like, it's kind of perfect. You know, like yeah seeing all the, seeing all the off, you know, the offset stuff. There's a purity to to him that I wasn't necessarily expecting, you know. No, and then actually like seeing him argue with James Gunn over a scene that one time, i was like, oh man. look Yeah.

Speaker: He's fucking – And then my number two – You would think that he's Superman, like the way he's talking to him. I think how this is how Jordan is really inspiring. Dude, it's – dude. Yeah. i know Like, part of me wants to put Kyle Chandler one.

Speaker: Because, like, you it's it's it's it's funny because, like, you know, you don't you don't see it in the first couple episodes. And then like seeing Hal really come to life in this last episode, you're just like, whoa, like this is the GOAT.

Speaker: like Yeah, because you're just like, oh, like because it's like always like you know just very casual, lore-based, like Hal Jordan is you know the the Green Lantern. well you go you go through You go through the whole last episode where you're like, does he deserve this fucking ring? like you're you're You're questioning Hal Jordan because you see how how capable Jon Stewart is. You see what he's capable of. You see his out upbringing. You know he's perfect for this role.

Speaker: But you you also get the and and the idea that it's like this white privilege that Hal only got the ring and is only capable with it because almost out of chance and luck and it's completely undeserved. But then you watch this episode.

Speaker: And you start to see like, oh, okay. No, there's more to him. There's a Columbo-esque-ness to him. That is also like why he's a cop, a space cop.

Speaker: You know? Like there's a persistence that's like really important when you're upholding, you know, ah the law, whatever the law may be. So like...

Speaker: There is these other aspects of him that we get in this episode, and it makes him a more well well-rounded character, and he makes him like you like him more.

Speaker: I wouldn't say I hated him in the last episode, but like there was something to hate. Yeah, he gave you a bad taste in your mouth. Well, you know what? you know So I kind of was...

Speaker: I like Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, but I don't think i was like I was in love with it. But I watched a video today that kind of like, it it made it click for me.

Speaker: And essentially, because because the the topic was essentially like, is Kyle Chandler even trying to do a comic accurate Hal Jordan? And the answer is kind of like, not really.

Speaker: But they said they were talking about how they were kind of comparing it to how Robert Downey Jr. did Tony Stark in kind of like yeah the the wide brushes, right? But in order to make the character be an actual human being, you have to add these layers to it that you're just not going to get in a comic book, right? It's just not how it it's a different medium.

Speaker: And they're like, and this really feels like that's what Kyle Chandler is doing to Howard. So he can't just be, you know, the guy that's kind of a, you know, he not a sexist guy, but like, you know, he's he hits on anything that walks. He's he's fearless and he's and he's this and he's that. But like, he needs a little dementia. He's brash and old school. Yeah. Adding like an extra, you know, couple of different layers to the character. And I'm like,

Speaker: Man, yeah. And it's like, and people were saying, like, I wouldn't be surprised if, like, like how they did with Tony Stark after, you know, the Iron Man movie came out. If, like, they start writing him like Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan.

Speaker: Like if all the comics. Like he changes. Yeah, he changes the, ah you know. Yeah, his tone. com Yeah, exactly. Like that is now the definitive version. And whether that's yeah in video games or comics or what have you, they're going to write them a little bit more like glib and, you know, definitely blash and cocky. More so then.

Speaker: but yeah I would say the same thing for Joan Stewart. ah Yeah. like ah Honestly, like his origin and everything that they made him is better than anything I've ever read about him.

Speaker: like I'll be completely blunt. I think it's well more well thought out. He's more of a real person and it's ah just an absolutely wild fucking origin. It's absolutely bonkers.

Speaker: yeah awesome It is so fucking crazy when you think about it. It's contemporary, it's fucking weird, it's scary, it's very scary, like it's' it has all these weird dimensions to it. like There's no comic ever about him that came close to being that intricate and interesting. Yeah, not really.

Speaker: So like these two, you are my, you, like you said, replace how, what they are in the comics, you know? And I would be all for it. I think it's better. Yeah.

Speaker: I think it did just makes these these, this story feels prescient and it feels relatable and like, and it makes you think about what is right about like how to raise a child and what is, what is courage? You know, it's, it's funny because, you know, Jon Stewart ah being in justice league, the animated series, like,

Speaker: you know, I think he had in my head like kind of like a voice, you know, like how shows and movies can kind of yeah give those characters voices. So like I kind of had like a voice in my head for um Jon Stewart already. But Hal, Hal has always been in my eyes somebody who's been a little bit ah squeakier and like that's I know that's not the case because I have read you know the Green Lantern Green Arrow comics from the like back in the day so like I kind of note knew like where he was but I feel like a lot of the times he kind of is just like presented as like oh this is a guy who used to be a fighter pilot and that's kind of like where they just left Hal yeah i agree no no I agree I think the voice is a little weaker

Speaker: Yeah, and I feel like this is the first time where it's like like you guys have been saying, like, they're going to start writing this character like this in the comics now. i i Yeah, theres there's a lot going on in this that I feel like has translated really well to a modern time.

Speaker: You know, like, even the even I'd say the the way the Guardians interact. with everybody like it just it's really thought out love that guardians fucking sucked from day one dude yeah well they always have though like that's the thing that is very true of them and it's it's a great see they pulled the great stuff out of the comic the stuff that that that works extraordinarily well but i also think they're adding a lot of layers to it as well Like, i I don't I think that there is a lot of this show that is a better representation of Green Lantern than a lot of the comics I've

Speaker: you know over the years. and That's great. It needs to be more of that. It's the same thing I can say about the Penguin. you know like The exact conversation. haven't really read too many like traditional DC Batman books, but I'm wondering if like the Penguin has undergone a bit of a ah re like an Yeah.

Speaker: yeah just because i want to happen right like It's him, that that version of the character is so much more intriguing than any version I've ever seen.

Speaker: you know it's they're they're These shows, they represent everything. i know this beating a dead horse a bit, but they do represent everything Marvel has failed at with their TV shows. like it's They're taking characters, they're making them more interesting than their comic counterparts, and they're also building a world that is they're building on the world that they're already creating. Like, it's, they're doing everything that they never were able to do properly.

Speaker: Lanterns is doing a better secret invasion. Yeah. Damn. You're just gonna sit there and take that on the chin, then? No, because I watched Secret Invasion, and it's it's probably the worst thing really good.

Speaker: It's sick, dude. It's so good. police's arm turns into drax's arm you should really watch it because they it does feel like they have a little bit more freedom you know like that's where this is all kind of where i'm saying where it's stemming from like it it seems like they have a little more freedom to do what they want with these characters and they're and it's the right thing i saw that marvel i guess there was like a blurb that they're that they're working on a detective TV series now too. Of course. interesting Wait, like a detective for what though? Like which character?

Speaker: I don't know. Yeah, they don't know either. I bet they just sent, ah fuck. just ste the attack fucking some detective shit and it's sick as hell damn it let's go to the dartboard I'm like so blanking I'm blanking on a who that could even be like who said it's uh Batman Wonder Man damn Blake maybe they saw Hal they saw Hal and John moving like fucking uh

Speaker: maybe yeah maybe they watched they saw hal they saw hal and john moving like fucking ah Rust and what's his name? Oh, oh yeah. i treat it tell so So these are notable detectives in Marvel.

Speaker: Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones. matt ah Madrox from Multiple Man. yo yeah Misty Knight. Oh, man. Multiple Man be sick. Colleen Wing. Okay. Yeah. yo It's going to Colleen Wing. No, no, It's just going to be Nova. It's just going to be the Nova Corps. How weak...

Speaker: marvel is regarding detective characters because blades in the top 10. well there's our answer all right i take it all right it's gonna be the detective detective blade hell yeah dude i'm really good at checking out zombies like all right i believe you dude was that would that be them doing like a midnight suns show don't know but Who's a vampire? Where they're going to put all the black actors. Misty Knight. I mean, they'll make it into one television show.

Speaker: We'll like, come on, Marvel. yeah You guys can't leave this show. What the hell, guys? You're stuck here. Well, I mean, multiple man would be kind of sick, but yeah. I don't think we're getting that. We're not going that far.

Speaker: Yeah, that's too interesting. mean Didn't he just get his ass beat by a Jubilee on X-Men 97? He's a fucking jobber in that era.

Speaker: The X-Force were just jobbers. yeah, yeah. They really had a good they had a great thing going in the 2000s. But even since then, I feel like they've kind of... yeah they had They had a great decade.

Speaker: Let just say that. This episode of Lanterns, I think the the the cliffhanger leave you leave y'all on ah on a spicy note. like that hell Do you think...

Speaker: I'll say this. I was really happy. Yeah, are we theorycrafted right There was a fake out that I was very psyched for. because i was I was like, oh my god, Hector Hammond so lame.

Speaker: And then it wasn't highs waiting for that just what that and they went a different direction and I was like, oh, thank God. um But yeah that scene was fucking sick, dude. yeah Yes. Yeah. No, great. Great. That's what you see. You saw how fucking lock in too. Oh, yeah. He's like, dude, this is why this is fucking why. cause This is why he's the goat.

Speaker: He's him him. Jordan. I'm not going to lie. Like, I'm still waiting. He's him, Chris. Hal is him. Waiting for Hal. And I really think then this next episode is the version we're going to get.

Speaker: But I'm waiting for Hal the Green Lantern to kind of showcase his skills. you know Oh yeah, because he hasn't really done much. he' really done like like And all he's done is kind of be impressed by Jon Stewart doing things with his ring.

Speaker: Dude, that drill i was fucking sick. yeah That was a sick drill. But at the same time, I'm like, no, I want to see fucking Hal Jordan just like... handle business as a green man. how concerned that John was with Hal and his family that he couldn't concentrate? I was about to say the same thing when he brings up his mom's cancer and like the ring kind of like faltered a little bit.

Speaker: Yeah. so like good He's a sweet boy. He's a sweet boy. He's a sweet boy. But then they use that later when Hal's grilling him in the car. Oh my god, dude. That was a It's really well written and well constructed plot wise. Like it's fucking. Yo, is Hal the best room reader in comics? This Hal Jordan? this version I mean, so far he's got like a perfect score for room reading. Is he the best room reader? Because he fucking, he reads that. He can read anything. He's very perceptive. He's extreme. He's like Sherlock Holmes level.

Speaker: person I love it. I love it, dude. That's cool because he's like a marine. And he's called he he totally Columbo. He's Columbo's sonned. Jon Stewart in the last scene was it was sick yeah there's a lot of that like energy with Hal Jordan like he's much meaner but like that that like well he's you know he's you know he's ah he's a disgruntled gritty experienced person that's seen it all now come on perfect space cop but there is one very big aspect of his character that still i hasn't been and i don't think he's been addressed properly And I'm sure they're waiting to do it until like an origin episode. But he looks like shit.

Speaker: Like I really like there's a reason for that. There has to be like he's alcoholic. He's like Fat Thor. He looks fucking terrible. And you know what? Gotta be. I want to know why. That's all. That's that's what you think, Chris. You look up the price of that jacket. That's a $700 jacket.

Speaker: Yeah, but like it's not the jacket. It really hurts me that that jacket does not fit him. Yeah, like that's what I mean. Like he looks disheveled. Yeah. Right. There's why like that aspect of him. Like there's some deep pain there. Right. It's 2016. He's up all night playing Pokemon Go. just Come on.

Speaker: The clowns. He's got to deal with murder clowns every night. There's just... a yeah there's I just want to know why he looks like he sleeps in his clothes all the time. like there's There's more to it, right?

Speaker: Something... And I think that's like some of the stuff that they touched on with Sinestro. Seeing him and Sinestro more in this episode like really kind of gave you an indicator and like, God damn, Sinestro. Sinestro tries to play him like a fucking fiddle immediately. Yeah, I think you're onto something because I think...

Speaker: The reason why he looks like depressed is I think he fucked something up and it was something that if maybe if Sinestro was with him, it wouldn't have happened. You know what I mean? Like some sort of tragedy that he fucked up.

Speaker: maybe in space or something during one mission or something. And it was something maybe even Sinestro warned him about or something. That's why he still holds counsel with him regularly. like There's got be more of a reason for that too, right? There's got to be some advice that he didn't listen to and it caused like this something to happen. And now he's dealing with the, the traumatic stress of it. Like that's, that's what it looks like to me at least. Right. Something yeah something caused him to not want to kind of stick to the path as much as he did. i mean Probably the Guardians. yeah i think He's just tired. yeah I think he's just beaten down.

Speaker: no but lets it Even though often the way he did the oath in that one episode when he was charging the power battery. Yeah. He was pulling his fucking teeth out of his fucking face. He's like, oh this is so fucking lame.

Speaker: Yeah. Oh man. Great show. Can't wait for next I'm glad there's so much more character and plot to go through too. Like this is a very fit filled show. i Yeah, I'm glad that we like we cemented who the Manhunter was this episode, and this wasn't like what they did with Peacemaker, where they waited until episode seven of eight to drop the thing that everybody immediately knew. They spread that plot so fucking thin. like and We were tired of it within two, three episodes. Yeah, once we realized like they were they were really going to stretch us out, it took all the wind out.

Speaker: Yeah, this is this feels hefty, so i'm I'm excited. I'm just... I'm really... curious's I'm curious because... Alright, so the the theories we're seeing online, or that I'm seeing online, is like... I don't know if this is like... A bunch of this is fake or whatever, but like...

Speaker: um The one thing that I saw that had a little bit of substance was that... I guess I don't know if it's real. I'll have to go back. But like, somebody's screenshot when You see John check out house like corpse at the end of the first episode.

Speaker: And he's like, there's like a tear. There's like a couple tears coming out of his eyes. So some people think that he checked the heart and it was crystallized. Oh that oh yeah. So that means that it could have been manhunter that like, I guess she sacrificed herself to save house somehow, but then, Oh, so it's the sheriff.

Speaker: No, the sheriff – no. ah No, because the sheriff's there. Okay. Yeah, they – I remember they said that the sheriff existed before previously. You're absolutely he was – and John was upset because it was the alien he smashed.

Speaker: Like – because the Manhunter's dead at that point. Yeah, I'm still not sold on either one of them being a Manhunter. Come on. Well, he knows that the Manhunter isn't gay. That's why he didn't get upset, right?

Speaker: The other theory I'm seeing is that like the Manhunter is actually going around pretending to be a guard the Guardian. Yeah, I was thinking it's you know ah the grandmother the grandmother or the Guardian.

Speaker: Or the Guardian, or the whoever's claiming to be the Guardian. Yeah. I saw a thing that said that the sheriff may be tied to Batwoman. Well, because she's named Sheriff Kane. She's from Gotham. And this episode, they were like, oh, you got rid of the bangs.

Speaker: So, yeah. Well, because Kathy is Kathy Kane. Kathy Kane is is Batwoman. Right. I know that. And this is Carrie Kane. i believe Bob kaine Kane. Right. Yeah. that's Well, that's a different Kane. That's C.A.I.N. She's Japanese.

Speaker: Oh, I see. Yeah, that's Bat. The other Bat, the ninja Batgirl. But, yeah. would be interesting. I thought maybe she was an old flame of Jim Gordon there.

Speaker: Possibly. The mother of ah bought Babs. Old Jimmy Shitty and Gordon. What's his think name? Oh, man. ah Devin, is there a glimmer of hope that um Matt Reeves' Batman is going to be shoehorned into this universe? Because the other thing I was seeing was that Pattinson was saying that this the script for Batman 2 is like radically different than the first one. don't know. I don't think so. I i think this is only really... Because the first thing I thought was, oh, they're trying they're they're forcing it now. yeah you know know I think it's just different because it's probably more entertaining this time.

Speaker: ah Was there any substance to that fake slash maybe real report that Andrew Garfield signed a deal to do Amazing Spider-Man 3 but that it won't be in the MCU it'll just be man i don't know an Amazing Spider-Man movie?

Speaker: I have no idea dude maybe that ah I don't know so Now got Elseworlds upon Elseworlds upon Elseworlds. I think my favorite rumor about that whole thing was that I think there was a rumor that Disney just offered Sony just like $9 billion dollars for Spider-Man or something.

Speaker: They were just like, just here. Just give it to us. Let's give it all. Give it back. Give it back. This is all we have. This is all we have in the movie. Yeah, it just single-handedly made Sony's entire fucking year.

Speaker: But, you know. Who's to say? But no, I, uh, my answer is dope. It's going to continue to be dope. Super dope.

Speaker: Super dope. It's, it's really nice that, uh, we got another good TV show. Yeah, dude. That's I've had, um, a big good run on TV shows this year. I've, I've been there's been a few stinkers obviously, but like what is Bay? Nice seven kingdoms. Now this, like I've been thoroughly entertained this year.

Speaker: so I've always had something to watch. Yeah. Yeah. And I, you know, it's fun. I've been watching Ted Lasso. Oh, see, see, that's, you know, I've been watching. I've been keeping up with Ted Lasso too. has That been good.

Speaker: That's fine. I'm fine. Yeah. got you there I, was at my dad's the other day and, um I, my dad, he, he'll have anything on the TV. He doesn't care about what it is, what episode, what season he'll just have something on. So I came in and I thought he was watching the season finale of this.

Speaker: There was an Apple TV show about Hawaii, like with Jason Momoa. Do you guys know about this? Yeah, I think I've seen ads for that. I forget the names. I don't know. i think it's literally just called like, oh, it's called Chief of War, right? It's a drama.

Speaker: One season so far. think there's going two. It's on Apple. My dad just like just the last ah the last episode of the season just kind of flowed right in. And I just watched the last episode and I was like, oh, you were watching this. He's like, no.

Speaker: And then he just let it reloop. And then he just started watching the first episode. And I was like, I just watched the final episode of Chief of War. And now we're watching the first episode of Chief of War.

Speaker: And I was just like, don't know. He'll get it all eventually. Yeah, and that's true. I'm telling you, that's how he obtains TV like tv knowledge. he He'll just watch anything and everything, and eventually it kind of makes sense in his head.

Speaker: mean, my mom's on her phone half the time. Well, I mean, which you guys do, you right? Whatever. Whatever. Did you see this show called See? It's really good. And I was like...

Speaker: I'm okay. I was like, yeah, mean, I was like, I don't got time. I'm good, bro. I'm good, bro. See, I'm sure it's good. I'm sure it's fine. My parents really like ah from. From. I couldn't. I tried. I tried. I gave that thing like four episodes.

Speaker: I can't. It's lost with the dumber plot. Yeah, it's not nearly. There's, i don't know. That's tough. That's one of those, like, I need you to tell me when it actually gets good.

Speaker: Like, good, good. it's i like It's always just like characters having mental breakdowns, but like with no context. like the And they're like, it's the yellow-suited man. yeah It's the yellow-suited man. And like every season, there's always some MacGuffin that everybody is having nervous breakdowns about. Like one season was like, the door in the woods. Yeah.

Speaker: And you're like, all right, all right. but People are losing it over this door. And then somebody goes through the door and it's the next season. And now it's like, it's a guy with a yellow hat.

Speaker: And you're like, oh, like like that that that monkey. that would that That guy in the yellow hat would follow around. And guess what? He's going to be introduced the last episode of the season, and then it's going to eke over something else, and going to be like, it's that ham bone.

Speaker: It's that ham It's haunted, dude. And they're all going to eat it. Yeah. Like, at some point, eat from it. And then they're gonna freak out.

Speaker: let me get the The ham bone is at the end. like It's just that over and over again. I also watched the ah the last episode of the last season of For All Mankind, another Apple TV show.

Speaker: And I was like, what is it? i I've realized there's been five seasons of the show. It looked budget as hell, despite it being on Apple. It wasn't terrible, but I was like, dude, what the...

Speaker: i gotta i gotta say i think apple really let the uh the coffers open you know they opened them up for for this last couple of years yeah all these shows have been i think it started with severance but like now they're really started lord the rings really i think lord of the rings the apple show lord the rings oh my god never mind i'm a first

Speaker: looks like meat's back on the menu boys gonna kill myself exit stage left um yeah dude i can't believe i fucking ate it like that oh that's gonna stick i'm smoking weed here you probably got high from it yeah you know like a contact high from me smoking even though you're Over the microphone. Anyway. um Yeah. Apple really ah really opened up the bank. And it's starting it's showing. you know

Speaker: um you Even with like Cape Fear, as as silly as that was towards the end, it's still like really great actors you know like Javier Bardem, Amy Adams.

Speaker: They're paying these guys. So... so Yeah, I like where Apple TV's going. They're going to be making some bangers. And they they already are in the process of.

Speaker: It's cool. That's a good streamer right now. Hold on. Hold on that one. yeah Ironically, it's the one streaming service I don't pay for.

Speaker: Or have. I'm like, I'm good to it. You know what? i you know I'm thinking about Netflix. Netflix. and Whoa. That's a drop. Dude, i say that all the time and then they just like float out something and I'm like, God damn it.

Speaker: Where did that come from? Steve. That's the thing. Every time, every time, Chris, I've been in the same boat and I'm like, this is the time I do it. It'll be like, oh, here's our new hit show. It's called Fartso Eats a Cake. And you show me a new Fartso Eats Cake. 13 episodes. And I'll eat my hat.

Speaker: Okay. I haven't seen one in long time. There's sometimes, there's just shit, dude. There's just stuff to watch. Jenny, Jenny will never let me get rid of Netflix because she'll be like, there's too many weird random documentaries.

Speaker: that you're gonna watch those weird documentaries I'm on the bubble guys that's on the bubble hey man I I I too would have just I can't get rid of HBO Max no you're right I can't I'm not getting rid of Amazon because I got shutter on there as well and you also got you also got the free shipping freak I really got think And Apple is now rising. They're right they're raising my dick, right? like they're theyre Something's rising and it's not their stock, let me tell you.

Speaker: Now, so Disney Plus, I don't know. I don't know, Devin. I have it. i still have el yeah That's the thing, though. they They get you with that little triple deal where they're like, hey, you could get this on Hulu and ESPN all together. It might get me NFL Game Pass. like So if I can, I think I can work a deal through my net my Disney Plus account or some some so such nonsense. um

Speaker: So Netflix, though, that's, you know... That's the one looking like it's getting the boot? That's the ugly person at the party, right? Hi, Chris!

Speaker: Hi, Chris! That's Ryan Reynolds and Hector Hammond, dude. Yeah, Hector Hammond saunters on over with his Netflix suit on, and i'm I'm looking at him. I'm looking down on him. We've got an animated Stranger Things show.

Speaker: yeah I'm dead. That's dead on me. I'm dead on that. Hold on. I'm looking up. Let me see what's coming to Netflix soon. Did you hear about that Australian Ray Gun lady? Here's whole documentary about how no one... I don't care about Ray Gun. I think more exposure to her is bad. All right, Chris. Hold on. Let me see. You know what? If I want a wild documentary about weird people that collect wizards. I got that on HBO Max. Why don't you hit the road, heck, and take your Netflix bullshit with you because I'm hanging with the hotties right now.

Speaker: That's what I would say. That's what i'm gonna say to Netflix when I cancel it. Chris, aren't you excited for Quasimodo? ah No. i wait And you know, another thing. Movie. It's a French film starring Vince Kessel. And you know, what almost made me cancel HBO Max is all these fucking Harry Potter trailers that are popping up front my lanterns. Hey, great Chris, don't you want to watch the Lizzie Borden story in the new season of Marvel?

Speaker: oh Chris, we've got Hog's Perfect Christmas coming up. It's all a holiday drama starring Dennis Quaid. All right, I'm out. Oh, man.

Speaker: Now you don't to leave long, but then you stay eating. For me, it's like the Easter Eden. Yeah, you know what mean? It's the Eden, buddy. cool quick We'll bring you back. So you you're basically your only pitch to me was... Hey, it's clay I guess you're not a well-read man. It's the John Steinbeck book.

Speaker: You fucking... Who's... You ignorant... All right, me tell you something.

Speaker: Who's excited about Untold Mr. T? oh I pity the fool. It comes out tomorrow. Didn't he lambast that? He said there there were a bunch of fools who made it.

Speaker: He calls everybody fools, Chris. I don't know. Here you go, Chris. Chris, tomorrow. yeah. There is a new Netflix comedy special by Stavros. Oh, you thought you were going to sneak away. hey And after you're laughing your teeth off, I got another Tyler Perry comedy drama for you.

Speaker: Why'd I get married again? Why don't you go here and watch that? I'm not watching that. Come on! You're going to have the ha-ha laughs after this time. house we've got We've got the Unabomber biopic September 25th. Oh, shit! Okay, you got Thanks.

Speaker: October 7th, who is Martin Mull? A documentary about the comedic actor. Okay. Norm, a Taylor Norm MacDonald. had me at Martin Mull.

Speaker: I know you love Martin Mull. yeah Don't lie to yourself. You're Martin guy. I am.

Speaker: I can't listen. What do you mean? Go on. Go ahead. The Mandalorian and Grogu come down. them a second one That already came out. and i Oh, pass shit. Are you sure you don't care about Ray Gunn?

Speaker: I really don't. It's an animated sci-fi noir movie from Brad Pitt. I guess it's not really Netflix. It's just that's the streaming. The streamer creep.

Speaker: That's just what he sounds like. and don't forget the further misadventures of Cliff Booth, which comes out in December 23rd. I can't believe you, Tony. That's what it says here on the list, Chris. You are going to walk away from this. You are going to walk go away, Cliff. lot You slop-peddling idiot.

Speaker: Make gulp of that.

Speaker: Sorry, Chris. That's it. That's why you got to keep Netflix. That's what I'm going to be saying the whole time I'm watching that shit movie. everything got is That is an addictive bo ah bit. I'm not going to lie. It's hard to and to walk away from that voice. You need somebody to say, stop it.

Speaker: yeah All right, move on. how there Speaking of animated things, though, even even though we mentioned animated things 10 years ago, ah we all saw a little movie, brand new.

Speaker: ah This brand new movie called Akira. And turns out wasn't brand new. Turns out it's a little old. ah but Turns out wasn't that great, yeah it turned to be honest. don what man You know what?

Speaker: It's an okay movie. It's a fuck.

Speaker: In all honesty, Akira's a fuck, I think. I said it. Wow, you must have not had a good day. You think it's a marriage? You must have not had an amazing day that day. No, no, no. I had an amazing day. Just dragging the movie down. You know?

Speaker: Oh, I forgot. You know what? I'm looking at the message Devin sent us. It just changed in front of me. Thank you for taking me to that mid-ass movie. Thanks for wasting my time. I could have seen that at home. Oh, this could have been it. I would have rather have seen the Odyssey. um Come on, dude. Come on, the color palette. just got to say that. no let's let's let sit let's Let's get on it right now.

Speaker: where what do you give a cure What do you give it? It's a Mary, bro. That's an easy Mary. It's not a Mary, dude. You know what? You've had two my modern anime pumped into your veins. You're too poisoned by Dragon Ball Z. It's your dynamic. It's visceral. Storytelling could use could use a The storytelling is fine. It's not fine. It's exceptional. It's not exceptional. Half of the things that you love are from that. Final Fantasy 7 is ripped from that. Visually, Akira is a fucking near flawless movie.

Speaker: It's just with everything else. That's kind of where it starts. It's fucking tragic. It's it's a sad fucking story about a place with children with no mothers that that are running around like madmen in chaos. there The government doesn't give a fuck about them. The only thing they're using them for is to make a weapon.

Speaker: it's It's pure... It's decadence and corruption and just bureaucracy gone mad. It's it's a sad dystopia. Some meandering weird plot. Should have been exploded years ago. That looks amazing.

Speaker: Oh, come on, dude. It's got...

Speaker: It's got two interesting lead characters. Everybody else could just disappear. Right? And you don't like the bumbling gang that he's with? You love them. No, it's fucking two guys. No, there's like a whole gang. There's two guys. There's two guys, Canada and Tetsuo. And then they disappear for fucking 40 minutes at a time.

Speaker: And then they don't do anything important. You know, get kidnapped by the one dies, right? it's It's like, listen, I think Akira is it's great. I think Akira is great. I do not think it's like a super well-told story, though.

Speaker: I think if we had seen the dubbed version, Devin would be singing it. Oh, yeah. I don't think. Is there anything a dubbed version can explain what that even happens in that movie?

Speaker: Yeah, it's it's easy to explain. Oh, yeah. Explain that ending to me, Chris. The end of Akira. What happened at the Yeah, just explain, you know, kind of. Akira came back. huh Exploded again. Okay, yeah.

Speaker: Destroyed Neo Tokyo. And they are left in the ruins of that place. It's like the same thing happened in 1988. And there are constant references of this place is is a scum pit.

Speaker: Like, it's almost that there's cults that are praying to Akira because they know that the world that they live in is shit. It's fucking terrible. And the only alternative they have is a child to explode again and to start again and rebuild. Because that was the only time it felt like Neo Tokyo wasn't a piece of shit, is when they were rebuilding.

Speaker: When they build everything, it just ended up as like this corrupt mound of nothing. Like that's that's it's all better, man. That's just future, baby. It is, and it's kind of it's sad. that Yeah, Wally, that's part of it too. It's sad that you have to destroy everything and start over again all the time. is people are Listen, it's okay to think Akira is a really good, but also think its plot isn't all that great. No, it's fun. And it's definitely not well told. I don't know. i don't think it's well told.

Speaker: I think it's Walt. I think it's it shows more than it tells. i I mean, for sure it shows more. Yeah, it definitely shows more. There's not a lot of acquisition. There so many chunks of that movie where it's just guys talking in boardrooms and then things happening that just aren't even... One, definitely not interesting. And two, kind of tangentially related to the plot. You know, there's the...

Speaker: There's the freedom fighters and then there's the, you know, the, the corporations and then there's the old little, the old kids. And then there's Akira itself. And then there's fucking psychic powers that turn you into goop monsters, but kind of not the kind of do. And then we open up pocket universes.

Speaker: Like, Listen, it's it's it's anime nonsense, right? Which is fine. But like let's just admit that nonsense is part of it.

Speaker: You know what I mean? don't know. To me, it's a very well-told visual story. I'm serious. And I understand it fine. And it has really wonderful themes and...

Speaker: lessons you know about like what happens to humanity after a while and when they're left to their own devices and it's yeah they they create psychic babies yeah like it's weird they're they're most like they're in world war three it's great yeah that's great but that's that's the thing that's frustrating is it is great But its storytelling isn't all that great. will tell you this. Now hold on for a second.

Speaker: I'm going to wipe away Akira and put Jenova on the thing inside of the tank. There we go. Now it's incredible. You know what? If you give that guy a sword the size of a cement wall, and I'm a little bit more interested. You're in that big motorcycle changer with a big sword I'm in. Tetsuo is now a guy with a gun. Listen, it's definitely a heady, weird movie. It's always weirder than I remember it being. That's what I like about it, though. I'll be real with you. I don't dislike that it's weird. I just dislike that it was...

Speaker: My issue with a lot of like well modern anime is it's a lot of exposition. There's a lot not a lot of just showing what's going on. They're just explaining what's going on. that This is the, very much the opposite. Like they don't give you a lot to go with. It's just the world that they're in.

Speaker: And I like that more. I like being, it's like Callaway Bebop. There's a lot about that show. It isn't just laid out. It's stuff that you just got to pull together in your head. That's better.

Speaker: I don't need to figure it out. You got to figure it out, Chris.

Speaker: that's That's me. That's i it's why I like older animes, because I feel like they were less full throttle on the plot. and And they just kind of focused on the visuals and they told their own story.

Speaker: That's that's cool. Yeah, we didn't talk about the Akira color palette. The color palette. The animators had to invent 50 new unique colors specifically for the animation.

Speaker: Before Akira came out, we only had four colors. Two of them were blues. so ah Yeah, they had to invent new color for the movie. yeah but There wasn't this that color yellow. Ever. Ever.

Speaker: Canary yellow? Are you telling me we didn't have canary yellow at that point? Nobody even fucking knew what canary yellow was. You said that in the room? They'd like, you meant to say yellow? like that's This is beyond that. We wouldn't have had Akira Brown.

Speaker: Okay? Yeah. It's a whole color, bro. I was doing some some you know sort some research into this whole Akira thing. Reddish brown.

Speaker: I think I would enjoy the manga much more because they say the issue with the storytelling in the movie is it's heavily compressed, which makes sense.

Speaker: I get it. I understand some aspects of that. So you want like a 300 episode look at it. I'm just going to say Japan has thrived when they get 300 episodes to tell a 68 episode story. They thrived in that in that wheelhouse.

Speaker: I don't, I see, I don't, it's too much. i don't I don't know, maybe. but na The modern anime proves me wrong. And that is not to say that I don't think Akira... Akira gets every bit of the accolades in terms of visuals.

Speaker: Like you guys were talking about, they invented fucking colors for this thing. The way it looks, the way it is actually animated, the fluidity of the whole thing, influenced and basically is... It's it's on the it's on the fucking...

Speaker: It's at the top of the mountain in terms of influence and just visual language. It's a masterpiece on a visual level. I just think, you know, this is your revolution. All the cool shit happens in the first 20 minutes and you're like, oh yeah, there's the slide. There's this, there's that. You know, just, then it takes a little bit to get cool looking again.

Speaker: That's all.

Speaker: um I'm going to say, Okay. I want to find the worst review for this movie. Let's see how close it is to what I saw. Yeah. Where'd you look? Rotten Tomatoes or? No, I'm on Letterboxd right now. Okay, fair enough.

Speaker: All right, here we go. Closest to Devin, one star. oh wait This was September 5th this year. Okay. Watch this in 4K in theaters.

Speaker: I gotta say it was visually stunning and the score was amazing too. Now, why one star? This story felt really flat and they set up plot points that had no payoff. The actual storytelling and dialogue?

Speaker: Trash, honestly. it is so funny to me how many people regard this as a perfect film when they are blinded solely by visuals slash audio and what this film did for the modern anime scene. I get that this had almost infinite influence for decades to come and that the themes of revolution slash government are also important and impactful even for the time.

Speaker: But man, I felt like after the first 45 minutes. This movie is just well, not well written. I need to watch again op before I can cement my opinion, but it was so disappointing. Giving it a one star review.

Speaker: One star. You know what? That is. as it show That is literally like my. That is. it's like it it crystallizes my fucking problem with things like letterbox and medic like fan reviews in general it's like oh i like this one thing one star like there's just no there's no middle ground five stars in one it's single issue voters man oh it's the john suarez letter yeah man single issue single issue voters

Speaker: And now I'll read the five-star review from, I imagine, the John fill-in. Wait, real quick. I don't ever go on Letterboxd. Are you able to comment on somebody's review of Letterboxd? You can like someone's review. You can't copy on a review. What the fuck is wrong with you? That review had one like, by the way. probably me now John's fill in right here from September 7th this year just one word aura oh hell yeah I hate that too fucking five stars one word aura are you fucking kidding me how many likes did that one have none yeah that's a terrible review dude

Speaker: That's worse than the other guy's review. all right, now hold on. I have the Chris Galani fill in. I'm on tilt. This is a five-star Chris Galani review. ah This is literally one of the best films ever made. Jesus fucking Christ.

Speaker: God, I'm vibrating. That's it? That's it. you go That's better than Aura. That's pretty good review. That's pretty solid.

Speaker: review. It's pretty accurate, I would say. Oh, wait. Here's another one. um ah Five stars um contends that the new world born from limitless human potential will be defined by surviving children driving their sick-ass bitchin' motorcycles. Vroom, vroom, baby! That's pretty good. We're getting better. That's the best one.

Speaker: Jesus. This one's just a link to YouTube. I'm not clicking that. That's fine. that's fine we We get the point. That's a thing now. um God forbid there's a three or a four star on there that exists. That probably makes sense.

Speaker: But... Now, I am also, ah i'm a fan, but not as big a fan of Memories, which is this director's other film. One of his other movies. Is it animated?

Speaker: It is. it's um It's actually ah the first story is animated by the same group that I've heard. Oh, it's this movie, Chris. Yes. Have you seen this, Steve? I have never seen this, but I have this on my my watch list.

Speaker: So the the issue though with this is I think one or maybe one to three of these ah vignettes because this is a anthology film.

Speaker: One of the three vignettes, one to three of them are actually the studio that did the animation for Akira. And they're interesting. Like the first one is really creepy. It's like space horror story that's about like a haunted ship basically in space. And, um yeah, there's like a comedy one about a guy who's who works at a government facility investing in the stinkiest smell.

Speaker: And it's so stinky it kills people. And he gets infected with it. He can't die from it, but he exudes the smell now. And he's like a ah biohazard person.

Speaker: Yeah. so like good Yeah, there's... a five-star. Yeah. ah it's it's a But then there's a few of the vignettes that are like weird Russian-esque, Russian-era propaganda animations. It's very strange. um But yes, Memories is by the same director of Akira. And it is pretty interesting. it's on I think it's on Prime, if you have that.

Speaker: Check it out. It's... you know it's It's good. it's It's not Akira, though. You know?

Speaker: Is it Akira, though? It's kind of more in the Akira space. Okay. Like, hey, you you know that movie Akira? like when the baby blow up.

Speaker: Like, that that version of it. that man Wait, so Devin, like what's your takes on like some of like the the other Yeah. like other type other types of movies like in the same vein of akira but like not same genre or same type of movie but like you know same um reputation i guess o i mean i'm kind of like the godfather let's talk about the godfather oh no please don't do this i mean listen i think uh i think the godfather 2 is wonderful i think it's

Speaker: great and i think it deserves all of the respect that it gets i think the godfather is a little over hyped i just we i just recently watched the godfather like maybe and i was good i saw it i saw probably for the first time really in the last like 10 or 15 years and That movie is a fucking masterpiece. The first Godfather. It's a little dated. I agree with, though I agree with Devin. I think 2 is superior to 1.

Speaker: to It's Godfather. I don't know. i don't like it's it's really good It's really good. It's a great story. but like i but like When Godfather 2 came out, i was like, oh, this is like this just look, it's just better made.

Speaker: you know You're wiping away Marlon Brando's performance. I'm not wiping in a way. It's just, you kind are you know what? You're going to, you're going to love the the mashup that they show on TNT every now and again. oh the, the, what is that? The, the, all the entire story told chronological order, which I did. I went to the, I went to the shore in high school to like my friend's house. yeah Coda. Coda.

Speaker: And we fucking, me and Joe Ziler just fucking watched that shit for like three days, two days straight. Like just nonstop. We were like, this is crazy. I saw one, I saw two, and I ignored three because everyone I know advised me to just never bother with it.

Speaker: Yeah, don't watch it. it's it up i do I do love Godfather 2, but I think I prefer the first one. I don't know. you have it like ah You know, and this is not a shot. This is not a shot, even though it might tell them. But, like, don't you also prefer the first Terminator over Terminator 2?

Speaker: Me? yeah i do love I do love Terminator 1. Like, I love the i love Terminator 1. I know Terminator 2 is the superior movie, though. like Like, movie as a whole. Yeah.

Speaker: I love Terminator 1. I think I love Terminator 1 too, but like... I mean, that's kind of like... It's not the same as how I feel about it. But to me, like I feel like that's a close approximation in terms of like how I view one versus the sequel.

Speaker: I'm like, yeah, one's really good, but like two is just like... we We fucking nailed it. thought you said it was it was overrated. like i don't think i say overrated because it's like seen as like the top in the top five of like greatest films of all time. right like I don't know. Do I disagree? do i know i don't know. should be in that like i respect I do respect both people's opinions. am very much on your side. Godfather Part 2 is ah it a much better story.

Speaker: I agree. and got and And saying you're on his side, Godfather 1 is overrated? No. I wasn't saying it all. If somebody said Godfather 1 was the best, I'd be like, yeah, you're right. okay I can't i really can argue. yeah because that's it that like I wouldn't argue. that's incenity I don't argue with that and don't argue with people that say godfather too's better i'm like oh i ah I agree with you. I get what you're coming from. Yeah, but I just, but I really love Godfather 1. Like, I really love Godfather 1. I mean... Now, that's if somebody came out to me and with a straight face said, Terminator 1 is better than Terminator 2, I would laugh in their face. I would say, you're a fool.

Speaker: You're a fool. No, I'm serious. I mean this. Terminator 2 better movie. like at that I think that's where the differing is. I think the Godfather and Godfather Part 2 are far closer together in quality. I think 2 is one of the best action movies I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker: yeah like hands Yeah. Terminator and is

Speaker: it's like where if like the raid to like didn't just take the budget and made the most insane seek sequences doing the man and like actually try to make a good sequel. Yes. like Yes, exactly. It's a the road to the Mad Max. They took the budget and they made a good, like, ah I don't want even want to say worthy sequel, but like they may they, you know, you could even argue in both cases surpass the sequel. You know, they, yeah but like, i don't, I don't know.

Speaker: I get, I mean, I understand why you might, but like the, I think the difference between both those movies Godfather far closer to Godfather and quality in part two. Godfather one and part two. I just did like, that's just the way I feel about it personally. I just love, yeah. I mean, I, I love, I love Godfather too. I love showing parallels of Michael and Vito, like in, in, um, you know, took the time jumps in America, you know? yeah differing times fuck dude the i just think like the encompassing narrative story of the godfather as a story i think is just like master masterpiece storytelling because like the thing is like godfather 2 is just like oh here here's the origin story and how it relates to what we see as michael now right and godfather one it's like

Speaker: This is – there is no – there's no like definitions of who Vito and who Michael are in that movie. It's like here's here's just what happens. you know Here's the ah the events that happen.

Speaker: So I really like that. now I understand. i And I think that what it's far more focused on the family in Godfather and it's far more focused on Michael and Vito yeah in 2. It's more – because Michael alienates everyone.

Speaker: From himself. And he went from such a sweet. He was such a sweet boy. Chris. I mean. such a sweet boy. At his own father's birthday.

Speaker: He announced. That he was going to Vietnam. He. He backed out a law school. At the last moment. And joined the Marines. And that that's kind of of. That's kind of what. That's kind of what the. um What I love about Godfather 1 though. Is is like.

Speaker: You don't know that. You don't know that, you know, like you just know, like this guy, like he was, he shouldn't have been the successor. Right. But he ended up being the successor. And then this is what happens.

Speaker: and yeah you're're you're you're you're at You're right. like He's launched into it, but like I feel like that... But then Godfather 2 proves you... like like this Yeah, so it was supposed to happen. For sure. yeah That's kind of what I love about both of those movies.

Speaker: That man is cold-blooded. Cold-blooded. He's great, man. Neither movie is overhyped, Devin. You're crazy. Yeah, I mean, again, overhyped's a bit... It's a bit extreme. It's a bit aggressive. It's a bit offensive. I definitively like 2-1. Brash.

Speaker: It's a bit brash. Yeah, it's insidious. Yeah, mean, 2 has... I mean, I can quote... Yeah, it's like, yeah, you pick your... Pick your cookie. You want your cookie to be Marlon Brando or you it to be Robert J. I used to know people that would defend three and say someone even said it was the best and i i just You met that guy. It's such hot garbage take. It's just something to get people upset. Chris, never met guy.

Speaker: three like it's such that's such a the garbage hot garbage take like it's just something to get people upset chris you never you never met that guy Yeah, he was some phantom.

Speaker: He wasn't a real person. You never met him. I concocted him just to get myself angry. Yeah, just making up a guy in the shower. You Michael Jordaned him. I was always like...

Speaker: i always like the sequels more than the first ones Yeah, because it's got the higher Because as kid, I was like, oh, Robocop 2 is better. yeah That means there's two of them. I was like, oh. Who's the one? i need Spider-Man 2. Better. 2 is better.

Speaker: Back to the Future. Back to the Future 2 is the best one. You know, like I was. You're psycho. No, dude. Well, I mean. Adam's family values. Actually, that might be true. Family values is better than Yeah, that probably true, actually.

Speaker: um no no but like because the problem is like the sequels were aimed at kids and i was a kid so it was a little tough a little tough for me to to not be super down with uh some of those sequels so are you saying godfather 2 is for kids yeah yeah is that what you're talking about child brains My favorite part in Godfather 2 is when they do Ice Ice Baby. Yeah, they do the mobster. at baby Go mobster. Go mobster. Go.

Speaker: o Hell yeah. dode Wait. So do you think Ninja Turtles 2 is better than I did until like I got older and I rewatched and I was like, oh, one is way better. Way better.

Speaker: ah Same with a good movie. What? It's a good movie. Yeah, one is well outstanding. I love one. a bit overhyped, baby, sir. Same with Back to the Future. It's a bit overhyped. Part you know one versus part two.

Speaker: i was like, oh, no, two is definitely better. yeah Maybe you should go back and watch Toy Story 2. Maybe you might feel a little different. You're not a kid anymore. You're not a little baby. no baby although I'm just saying. that Toy Story 2 is actually godlike, dude.

Speaker: I'm going to say you're going to think it's better than the first one. yeah But you're going be like, you know what? Maybe I was wrong. Maybe this movie wasn't fucking horse shit like I've been saying my whole life. no that's that's a that's ah That's a take I kind of like having.

Speaker: and devin's like i don't want to I don't want reality to change that. It's so good. Toys R Us 2 is actually really good. no I'm sure it is. sure it is Dude, Frazier's in it. all right Come on. We love Frazier. He's the prospector.

Speaker: He's Stinky Pete. You want to talk about Kyle Chandler being best casting? How about Kelsey Grammer as Stinky Pete? dude I think he's a better beast than he is as a Stinky Pete.

Speaker: He's a great beast. That might be actually a perfect casting. it'd be like his best. like Yeah, one of the best castings ever, think. You could say. Yeah, boy. Man. um Let's see. What else? Did anybody else watch anything cool? anything cool?

Speaker: Oh, I did. I'm watching Beef. watch You're watching Beef? Did you guys we beef do you guys watch Beef? be I watched the first episode three times. It's so This show is so good, dude. How long ago did it come out?

Speaker: It's like two or three years ago something. Two years ago. Didn't it just win a bunch of Emmys? maybe Didn't it win a bunch of Emmys the first season? bunch Golden Globes and shit? Beef Emmys.

Speaker: don't know. Emmys are happening tonight, right? New Emmys? yeah The new Emmys. It won eight all-time Emmys. It won... Outstanding, limited or anthology series. And one Stephen Young won for lead actor.

Speaker: Fucking Ali Wong won for lead actress. She's really good at writing and directing. Additional wins include casting, contemporary costumes and picture editing.

Speaker: Fucking ah the guy that ah what's his name? he He plays Jesse, the last of us. Young Manzino. Oh. He's fucking awesome, too. Shit, dude.

Speaker: And the each episode is only like 20-something minutes long. It's like actually like not bad. It's not like a drag. Like Breaking Bad, you know? I want to sit there for a fucking hour. Or even like... Weren't Buffy episodes like 47 minutes some shit? Yeah, dude, of course. So is Lost. Lost is like an hour apiece.

Speaker: Dude, it's crazy. They did 23 episodes. Yeah, we used to watch 24 episode seasons. And then like around episode 18, that's when the show got good for sweeps week or something like that. Yeah, let me tell you something now. Jack Bauer. Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something, Spider-Man. Let me tell you something about Jack Bauer. Let me tell you something, Spider-Man. Three times every season. You got Black coffee?

Speaker: Three times every season, Jack Bauer had fall asleep. It was in every season. He was a tired dude. He was extremely tired. He was up for 24 hours. don't know if you knew the plot of the show. But he fell asleep. It would happen various amounts of time throughout the season.

Speaker: It's just a thing that happened. That was filler because they had to put him to sleep because he's just killing everybody. Like he killed everyone. Like that's his thing. That was his thing. You got to put him to sleep every once in a while. Like that's that the plot demanded it.

Speaker: right Or you got to put him in a little cube. Either one. You to trap him. You got to keep Jack Bauer away from the plot every once in a while. He couldn't be the main character for every episode.

Speaker: You got to pull him out. he's just He's just too detrimental to the plot. He's too strong. Are you done yet, John? Have you got two left? I've got and half left.

Speaker: Dude, it's fucking, it gets crazy. it gets crazy It's like addicting. Like watching fucking people ruin their own lives. Oh, it's spite, you know? Spite, anger, and all that. No lie, some of that Asian family shit kind of hits a little close to home.

Speaker: Some of it. So, ah you know, there's a resonance there that That I'm into as well. His brother owned that hotel or the family owned the hotel? Yeah. the way His brother was just like a Bitcoin guy or something, right? That's what it was. Okay.

Speaker: Yeah, but like... It's deeper than that, man. Fucking family trauma.

Speaker: Dude, it's it's it's a really good show. I'm i'm not surprised it won a bunch of Emmys or whatever, to be honest. Because I'm like watching right now and I'm like, man, this is really fucking good. But yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, boy. Yeah, boy. boy I also watched... I forgot to mention I watched Buddy. I watched... I put time in that... that ah the Barney horror film, essentially. So, Buddy, basically what people kind of know about it is it was the director of the viral commercial, I guess, on Adult Swim Too Many Cooks. Too Many Cooks. And he made, the guy got to make a movie, Casper Kelly.

Speaker: I think he wrote and edited this because it definitely feels like that. And directed it. But... Yeah, it's ah it's another... it's kind of another win, frankly. Another win for horror.

Speaker: It's definitely more of a horror comedy, I'd say, but... Just the horror is such Was it scary? No, I would not. I mean, if you're young, probably, but like... I heard the i heard the credits were pretty scary, actually. That's the one thing I've heard about it that was... A little bit. like it's It definitely has that like off-putting nature that like cut like know that too many cooks had.

Speaker: Right. um But none of it's like. I don't want to say like there needed to be jump scares because there definitely didn't. Right. But like. Nothing kind of hits you. It's very rare that something hits you in the way that you're like, oh, OK, yeah, that that was creepy.

Speaker: Right. um But it's kind of told in. i don't know I don't want to say different ways, but the first, I'd say, third of the movie or fourth of the movie is how you would think, right? It's kind of in that Barney-esque...

Speaker: tale and it kind of what's really clever about the editing is it it kind of goes okay the this is the rule of like I guess the buddy verse right this is the rule of the show that he's in and then things obviously start looking a little bit off um and then you know things go very badly and then ah you you find out buddy's kind of a psychopath and then it kind of hits you into the real world you know it takes you into this kind of you have a little look into this life of this normal family and and you find out that they've been affected by buddy in some way and then you know and then it kind of merges the the worlds a little bit and at the end um i'm not gonna say it's it's like of course they went there but if you were playing a video game that was called buddy and it looked like this

Speaker: The final act of the video game you'd be like oh of course, like it makes complete sense that that's the direction they take it in right. um But honestly man good it's it was quite good i'd say it was a i'd say it's a fuck I don't know if i'd give it good sit territory just because it's not like.

Speaker: It's not overly funny. It's not overly scary. It's just like a nice mix of both. But I wouldn't say it's like outstanding in any or either direction. But no, man. Good time. Good time at the theater. um Key to Michael Solid sit. Yeah, solid sit. Not quite a good sit. Solid sit.

Speaker: um But Key to Michael Key is great. He's great as Buddy. um and christine is it kristin or christine malati uh kristin kristin malati she's great she's wonderful and i just like staring at her um that's not weird right uh but she's great and um yeah Yeah, no. It's a a good time, dude.

Speaker: I was a big fan. and ah Anybody else watch anything? Or is that kind it for the movie-wise? and I watched about 40% of Devil Wears Prime 2. That's right. so um i can't I can't give a proper review. That movie ended where we didn't even... I couldn't even smell where the third act was.

Speaker: Yeah, i don't it just sort of ended. him That's what I got from that. And maybe that's ah the the way the movie was supposed to be, but I can't... Can neither confirm nor deny. i'm at i'm i'm I haven't watched it. That movie it is designed... what What amount of a movie...

Speaker: we you know we do We do this podcast. It's not like we're you know held up to high standards of you know journalists or anything. But like what percentage of a film do you feel comfortable giving then giving a review Like how much of a movie... Is it 100% or you could you be honest with yourself?

Speaker: I think there's a point in a movie where if you kind of get it and you know... I would say if a movie is bothersome. Yeah, I think it's a bad movie. But then the review needs to be, didn't finish it because I didn't like it. I don't think it can ever be anything good. It can never be a good film in which you only watched a percentage of and you felt confident enough I'm trying to think of movies where it's like, you know what? This movie's fantastic. And I felt fulfilled. So I left. I didn't need to finish it.

Speaker: and Or like it like the theater collapsed. yeah And you had to get out of there. There were also times though where I'm like, i saw like 60, 70% of the movie and I liked it I just never sat through it all in one go. Right.

Speaker: Akira is a great example of that. Like I had seen bits of Akira probably saw about 70% of Akira and then I just didn't finish it for whatever whatever reason up until, you know, i saw it all the way through the other day.

Speaker: So, and, but even then i still knew that Akira ah was of quality. Right. But I don't know, man. If you're like, oh, it was I didn't finish it.

Speaker: And it's I think it's impossible. It really has to be just it the biggest asterisk in the world is like, but I also didn't finish it. Like you can't. of course yeah Yeah, but like if there's a if there's a point in the movie where you're like, this movie is bad.

Speaker: Yeah. that they I don't think there's any swimming back. like You're absolutely right. you're that you're It's only in the case of it being a bad movie could you reasonably give a review yeah and say it's bad. But even then, that review is just still like, it was really bad and I couldn't finish it. like i That is part of the review. Yeah, yeah. It's just like, I don't know, like um ah were the Five Nights of Freddy's? Yeah.

Speaker: That's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's so bad that I quit on it, and I rarely quit on movies. People love that movie. I don't think that invalidates your call on it. I wouldn't ever be like, you've got to listen to my opinion on that movie.

Speaker: It's just like, no, it was really bad, and I stopped watching it. I don't think eating the entire bowl of shit makes it so you could say that shit tasted like shit. Absolutely not. No, I'm not arguing that at all. I agree 100%. I'm trying to think of movies where you can walk out. trying to think of an invert of that. You walk It would be like, don't know. I'm trying to think of a movie where would be like big.

Speaker: Where it'd be like, yeah, he got big and made a lot of money and got with the the girl. He like, boom, done. And like the ending's not bad. It probably, you could have sat around and and would have enjoyed it, but you still could have gave it. Like, I really enjoyed watching big and I know pretty much what happened. You know, whatever happened in the end, no matter.

Speaker: Like I, it was good. And you could give a review. i don't know. I, maybe not. i don't know. You can do that with Ghostbusters. It's like, and then they became famous. Yeah. the yeah Great movie. Yeah. Yeah. One of the best movies I've ever seen. Only seen part of it. But don't know. The review of Devil Wears Proud of 2, you saw some of it.

Speaker: It was on in the background, essentially. Inconclusive. I have to say inconclusive. But probably not that good. Probably not good. You probably need to be like definitive. like You can't be like, oh, that was all right.

Speaker: only saw some of it. I think you're right. like It either has to be one way, almost one way or the other. Sometimes. I don't know. You could be like, that movie was awesome. I unfortunately got hit in the head with a brick during it. But from what I remember...

Speaker: awesome. You could just had to take a massive shit towards the end of Schindler's list. o And like it's you probably still would have had ah an incredible experience. You could see a bunch of people touching his grave in color. You're like, what happened?

Speaker: Huh? I think you'd still walk away a pot with a positive experience. well like Knowing that movie was wonderful. It was really well made. and And just that shit period cut out.

Speaker: While was watching Saving Private Ryan, I had to go to the bathroom and suddenly he's an old man? Still great. is It was wonderful. That was great. That was wonderful. It was a wonderful viewing experience.

Speaker: Is there a point in Toy Story where if you walk out at a certain point and then come back in, you don't know the toys come to life? No, you'd have to just not watch the movie.

Speaker: Because the beginning of that movie starts with Andy playing with the toys. And then the end of that movie, I believe, is Andy holding Woody and Buzz in his Are you serious? This whole fucking movie is just a kid playing with these toys? Oh, so like this is just a kid's imagination. Are you fine? This is what you guys like?

Speaker: What did you do? I did recently retell the story. This is a different thing. i did recently retell the story of um when our friend Waldo watched Batman v Superman with us.

Speaker: And he walked out going, I thought Wonder Woman was Catwoman the entire time. And I was like, are you fucking insane? But then he explained it to me. And I was like, oh my God, he's right.

Speaker: Because Waldo famously doesn't watch trailers or anything. And he's like, well, I saw this movie where some like, you know, sultry brunette flirts with Bruce Wayne and steals things.

Speaker: And then he's also rich and is like trying to fly away on a plane and uncovers this big, you know, mystery. And he's like, and all of a sudden Wonder Woman shows up and I was like, oh, well, God damn. It was really hard to argue with his logic to me. Check me. Yeah. i was like, oh, OK, then never mind. ah Oh, like the way the characters. Yeah, he's like the way the characters introduced, portrayed and acts.

Speaker: And then he's like, but all of a sudden it's Wonder Woman. And I was like, now, granted, that's kind of You had to have been living under the same rock Waldo was living under to not know that she was Wonder Woman. But he found a way, man.

Speaker: He doesn't watch movie trailers? No, dude. We were driving. Because we got free tickets to see it when we saw the trailer that I saw with John. And I said, John, do you want to come back in a year to watch the movie? And John said, ah fuck no.

Speaker: So I was like, Waldo, I have an extra ticket. And he's like, oh, hell yeah. i'd like And then we're driving home from King of Prussia and he's explaining to me this whole thing. And I was like, God damn, I really want to like call you an idiot. But like, you're not like that makes total sense.

Speaker: So not quite the same, but man, there are there is a ah level of just like. Ignorance, whether it's like willful or not.

Speaker: that you're just like, okay. I just completely misread this entire thing. I never thought of it in that perspective. It's perspective. You know? you yeah You're like, oh, wow. I never thought of it that way. That's...

Speaker: But then again, i watch trailers. I know. I'm a little bitch, baby. Sometimes trailers lie, though. but You never know. Yeah, you're absolutely right. Endgame, or Doomsday, rather. yeah you're The Last of Us. You're a lying trailer. You're a liar. du The Star Wars Beach movie. What the hell was that called?

Speaker: Andor? No. and no Rogue One. Rogue One, yeah. That movie lied. Andor? No. Andor? No.

Speaker: How many beaches are there? The Last of Us. Yeah, The Last of Us. ah Yeah, every Marvel. You're really going to go through with this, kiddo? People are arguing that they they're doing some the same stuff in Final Fantasy VII Revelation trailer. Oh. know there's a part there's a There's a picture of the group and there seems to be a big empty spot in the middle where there should be a character.

Speaker: Oh, and you know what? It's actually a spot for three Spider-Man. Oh, that makes more sense. They're bringing them in. really Oh, man. You know what? ah Real quick, though. I don't know if you've been listening lately, but lately I've not been i've been kind of out of the game space lately for the last few weeks and months, um which is fine, right? But I did make time to play a bunch of demos because one fun benefits of opening night live, the new state of plays and all all this stuff that's coming out is we finally got some fun demos to play.

Speaker: And I fired up. ah I played three today. I played a demo called Pools, which is like ah a liminal space, I guess, horror type game where you're just walking around and kind of just like a never ending spa, essentially, um which is inherently pretty creepy. I do get it to some extent, but that was just neat. it was just neat to kind of tool around that. And I i was playing this roguelite game called Slash Zero.

Speaker: And it's ah it's kind of like a rogue late in the way like Dead Cells is a rogue late or any of these other type of like side scrolling type rogue late games are. And the thing was, is I found out, cause I put a lot of time into this demo and it, i there was a point where I thought the entire game was unlocked in this demo because it just kept going.

Speaker: and then ah And then I realized that this demo is a, it's apparently 10 hour long demo. Jesus. Dude, if that's insane, right? um and i was And that's what I put it down. i was like, i can't I can't play this anymore. But it was pretty cool, dude. it was um If you have that itch for those types of games, I think this is a really good up-and-coming version of that game. There's three characters. What what game was this? It's called Slash Zero.

Speaker: okay And so there's three characters. There's like an anime android girl who shoots guns and she basically does like gun kata. Right.

Speaker: And then there's ah another character whose name I can't remember. It's Cosmos. It's kind of too kind of. Yeah. And then there's another character. That was a deep cut. Yeah. That kind of looks like a Xeno saga. Oh, my The other character just like Vincent Valentine, but he has two, like, daggers.

Speaker: And he, like, slashes everything. And then there's a robotic knight character with a sword and a shield. And you can kind of just inter you know interject these characters in this. and Like Hades. It's a mix of Hades and, like, dead cells, essentially.

Speaker: um So it was a fun mix, dude. It really was. But the problem was... And as much as I complain that I don't get the play like that games don't often have demos. This is like a perfect example of like, yeah, this game should not have had a demo because I played this game for like four hours.

Speaker: Did everything I felt like I could do and I'm like, I never need to play this game again. Like, I never do. Like, the plot's not so good that I'm like, I need to know what happens.

Speaker: ah The gameplay is not so extreme that I didn't kind of get... Like, I definitely felt like I got the gist of it. And, yeah.

Speaker: So, i feel a little bit torn because as fun as as much fun as I had, and I was very thankful to just have, like, a brand new type of game to just tool around with just for, like, a couple of hours. i was like yeah no that they um is this a side scroller yeah yeah it's uh dude it's it's good it's good to i'd say check out the demo uh but then you know you reviewing are you reviewing the game basically basically reviewed it i basically played the entire game that's what i'm saying like there is stuff that you're locked out of that you just cannot it's seemingly you just can't do it because i'm like i'm not gonna keep

Speaker: running through these loops to to discover it. But, oh man, it was ah it was quite good, but also I played too much of it, and now I don't want ever want to play it again.

Speaker: And then the last demo I played was I played Final Fantasy Resonance. I made time for that one. That's the turn-based. That's the 2D or 2.5D one. Yeah, yeah. And it's a really pretty game. Now,

Speaker: Oh, weird caveat. And this is based off nothing but my eyeballs. So do not give me shit if I'm wrong because I'm most likely am.

Speaker: There's a really interesting intro, right, where it's kind of a clash of styles. It's like that 2.5 D. But then there's like where the sprites are way bigger than they even would be in the game.

Speaker: and then it like then it's like a crazy zoomed in, super detailed version. And I got a little, and I'm not that guy guys, but I got a little bit of the, is this AI?

Speaker: This looks like this AI. Oh, shit. It's this little opening sequence. Okay, Tim. I see you, Hey, all I'm saying is if you start hearing it, if you come upon a report that says,

Speaker: AI detected in Final Fantasy Resonance, just know. I don't know. You heard it here vernic you first, man. yeah eyeball and crack i mean that's how That's how I felt playing Resident Evil Requiem. man.

Speaker: oh man Come on. how dare you're killing hey i come up with this i this great crazy idea i uh i finished control for the i don't untied time i played it nice great game always um probably the best game to showcase uh throwing something telepathically Yeah, yeah it's like that's perfect. It is. You can pick up anything and you can also, like when you get to the higher levels of it, you can pick up like multiple things and throw them at separate targets. like It's fucking perfect. It's perfect. um

Speaker: Even, though i think the levitating is is kind of perfect too. it like that The combat is very fluid. it's I really love that game for that purpose. You're getting ready for Resonant. course i'm getting ready that's soon right that's like this week 25th i'm pumped and i really love the i love controls just atmosphere so much i'm so pumped for this um and i also played i logged in just on a lark to vampire crawlers you know i beat the fuck out of the card game right yeah that game i i just ripped that thing to shreds but

Speaker: you know, just wanted to see what was going Maybe we got some new stuff. There was a secret level and it was under construction. That's what it's called. And, it looks like an underwater dungeon that they're going to be releasing for free.

Speaker: That's cool. There was like a little ad for it in the game. Um, so yeah, I'm excited for that. I love that game. Um, Yeah, as far as video games, though, that's that's about it.

Speaker: I played two this week. um One was a game that I played for a lark. I heard good things about it, and I ended up falling in love with it.

Speaker: I remember, Devin, you had some major complaints about a game called Mina the Hollower. I did. I have the cure for you, Devin.

Speaker: This is a game that is very much in the same style. I heard that game was made with AI. no. Yeah. We can all use um No.

Speaker: No. This is a game called Pipestrello and the Cursed Yo-Yo. Oh, I heard that developer. ah His name was on the Epstein files. Oh, no. Jack me. Jack me.

Speaker: Oh, no. um But essentially, it's a game that is pretty much just pretending to be an old school Game Boy Advance game. And it is very much a like very fun like You're in this world. you know a bunch of stuff happens. It's like a big environment. You use your yo-yo to like attack and like do stuff. It it doesn't get like too crazy, but like the puzzles and the combat, super top-notch.

Speaker: If it's on sale, I highly recommend it because you'll fall in love with it. What the fuck is Pipistrello? Pipistrello's a bat. He's a bat. He's a bat. He's a mouse, dude. He looked like mouse.

Speaker: No, no, no there is So there is a mouse or a rat, and his name is Don Massetti, and he's ah he's a mobster mouse with boxing gloves. um But it's just like this like wonderfully silly, like classic old school like Game Boy Advance style game.

Speaker: And just genuinely, I 100%ed it. I didn't expect to fall in love like I did with it. Highly recommended. And then I also played... long did it take you to beat that?

Speaker: Roughly. I think I had like 20 hours on that, but that's just because I was going, I was going for like every secret and every like health and power up. So, you know, I sunk my teeth into that one cause it was so good.

Speaker: And then I, ah I played a couple of games of the brand new Halloween, the game by gun media and ill phonics. Um,

Speaker: It's a mess. It's unfortunately a mess. I heard there's sexy time in it though. No, they just removed that actually. They did remove that. No more sexy time. They removed it because they found out that ah you as the 60 plus year old Donald Pleasance could have sex with a 17 year old in the closet.

Speaker: so they patched it out. area Did they not? They patched that fucking game? that I don't think they did because it is very messy. There's like there's parts where the game will bug and like Michael Myers will just be invisible. And so you'll just see people's throats getting slit from out of nowhere.

Speaker: um It's a very unfortunately like it's it's a flawed premise like. It's the idea was the Jason game had the same and it's by the same guy. you It's by the same guys. But the problem is for some reason they made it where it is one person trying to kill NPCs while another squad of like humans survivors is trying to protect the NPCs.

Speaker: And it's just basically like an escort mission. And it's all surrounding these NPCs that are dumb as bricks, and they will literally walk invitedly into the open arms of Michael Myers.

Speaker: Yeah. And it really kind of just like, you know, there is definitely fun to be had and there's a lot of like fun, like silly people basically like role playing in the game right now where it'll be like somebody pretending to be, you know, playing as Donald Pleasance and being like, oh, Michael, why don' you kill me, Michael? Oh, no. So busted that people are just kind of finding their own fun until it gets fixed.

Speaker: It's I think there's you know, there's people out there having fun with it. I think it kind of falls right now into the friend slop category where it's like the people you're playing it with are the ones that are making it fun.

Speaker: so wait, have you did you play as Michael? I didn't get a chance to play as Michael yet. Okay. But from the games that it put me into, i i basically just like I started a car, drove around a little bit with some people, and then we escaped.

Speaker: you're like, oh, this sucks. Yeah, it it definitely kind of left me one. Yeah, exactly. So i' i don't see that game getting like great reviews. No, and those games need to have all of that to stay even. Even the ones that have great reviews don't stay relevant.

Speaker: and that Is this better or worse than the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game? Yeah, I would say it's worse than Texas Chainsaw Massacre. better than Evil Dead? No. evil So here's the thing. evil This game is more in line with Evil Dead. And I think Evil Dead did it better. Where it's like you're kind of like going around and like fighting mobs and stuff. Yeah, you were like the force. Not necessarily like... you Well, you could be like an actual character. Yeah, you could like possess them. Yeah. And I think that worked. That was pretty cool. yeah Yeah. It also just kind of feels like the mechanics are only like that because they just needed it to play a little bit different.

Speaker: It's like they should have just played like a Jason game, you know, or. Yeah. Well, can't wait for them to somehow get the Freddy license and then make a bad Freddy. There's a chance that they might patch out that whole bullshit.

Speaker: You know, the NPC. Or make a different i mode, maybe. Possibly. You know, the the thing I've noticed with gun media is they're not in it for the long haul. They'll like stick it out for like a year or two and then they're done. Yeah, man. And that's so because, yeah, because you're right. Because at this point, why support this game if you know it's going to be dead within a year?

Speaker: like real Unless you're just the biggest Michael Myers fan. Yeah. i i you know i I think there is fun to be had, but it is... you know And frankly, i don't know, man. That side-scroller I played like a year ago.

Speaker: with ah It was an Evil Dead Halloween mishmash game. That was fun, dude. It was just hard as shit. and i i scrubbed out because of the difficulty, but...

Speaker: I remember that because you could combine that with the yeah the Evil Dead game too, yeah? Yeah, yeah. but By the way, I'm catching up on all of let' who doba Don't worry about it, dude. Don't worry about it. Yeah, I just looked at the Charlie Kirk. Jesus Christ. I just saw that, too. What the fuck? He lives. You know what? He lives. God damn it. No, we're not supposed to.

Speaker: that's used to make it Make it fun. We're not supposed to make this fun. His soul is stuck inside data centers. His soul will never escape. Because his fucking wife, dude. Trapped in the machine. No one got Onimusha.

Speaker: trapped in the machine yeah and yeah no no one no one got a ony mocia We're all did you you didn't get it yet, did you know? Wow. Actually, wait wait I forgot to mention I played they extended the demo that came out, which was weird. bousha yeah They said we added we made the demo bigger.

Speaker: Oh, dude, you could go to McDonald's and get a one-piece nugget ah free sample. I know, dude. They they extended it. They did. Is that what you want? this what you want, Devin? You know what? it's bad You want the whole meal, You know what I did? I went i was like, it's this will tide me over for few more weeks. This a good chicken good chicken It's chicken McNugget have to save room because my wife's going to let me have Burger King tomorrow.

Speaker: excuse It's like ah what's it? Ben Stiller and um what what what movie was that? um He was the the volleyball guy, not volleyball. It was dodgeball. watchgeball Yeah.

Speaker: Where he's like sticking his dick in a cake or whatever. Also like ah Will Ferrell in The Office too. He was like that too. No. think yeah no Devin.

Speaker: Dude, he's so funny. yeah with owe ausha He just puts his hands in it. Hey, man. Like I said, I'm going to be... D'Angelo Vickers was his name. You better watch it. This is like the opposite. This is like when your friend finally becomes single, becomes a maniac. It's like when I'm finally married, I'll just buy all these games.

Speaker: just nonstop video games just waste all my money because I can't find the time to play all of the said video games. See, that is like, unfortunately, like that is such a weird antithetical, like core concept to how video games should work in terms of like a capitalist mindset is like.

Speaker: It makes so much more sense the way the game is better. and it's cheaper and there might be more things that come with it like dlc by the time people get around to it and that's such a weird concept when you think about it i do you know what my not to not to make uh the gaming hellscape even worse but my theory is that games are somehow going going to be more expensive you're playing even more yeah yeah they're like oh listen man this is the

Speaker: it's a better game you can thank you can thank nintendo crimson desert should cost more money now than it did when you first got it because there's way more stuff in it and it's and it runs way better oh and it's optimized and it's an it's definitively a better game and that's you know but yeah i should i should be able to get that You know, and I'll if I were to buy that today, i can probably get it for at least 10 to $15 cheaper.

Speaker: Depending on, you know, where it's on sale at. That's wild. and That's because hype, man. I know. But isn't that isn't that like counterintuitive to how things should work?

Speaker: That would be like if I was like, a dude, I just like bought the movie Heat for full price. Yeah. But like, what if Heat had better graphics? And you're right. And also like, just like got real shiny. Like they make everybody. I mean, to be fair, that is kind of like when they release like a 4K release. Yeah.

Speaker: But imagine if for some reason it was easier to watch too. just It was a smoother experience overall. they they added They added frames. You can watch heat. but You can actually 4K heat in 120 frames per second. So glossy. yeah Is that kind of what The Hobbit was supposed to be? They were like, all right, we're 60 frames, baby. Or 40 frames? It was 40 frames. 40 frames, man, for no fucking reason other than like, let me just try something.

Speaker: Did not work, guys. or we Did not work. But... No, yeah. Onimusha. Noobs! Noobs! Noobs! and dus trailers dus new new and trailers and trailers trailer newso um yeah man there's ah so ah but but but but there was a playstation event that happened everybody was mad about it cause it didn't have a bunch of games that everybody wanted to see despite it coming out at 9 a.m.

Speaker: in the morning. So everybody probably should have known that like they weren't going go see Heretic Prophet in this in the state of play. right it's ah It's kind of a mix.

Speaker: um That being said, some notable things that were showcased ah you know look kind of cool. There's Ghost of Yote DLC. There's this game called Conk, Crown of No Quarter that actually I think looks pretty cool. Slash Zero that I was you know i was talking about earlier.

Speaker: And we got to see a little bit more of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which at this point I'm on an island. But I loved it. I was like, oh, this looks quite good.

Speaker: um The weird thing about that, though, man, is there is like five different versions of this game, you know, price wise. There's a hundred and seven dollar version.

Speaker: And that comes with. Enough things that I'm like, i'm am I going to be the bitch that buys the hundred and seven dollar version? And I might be. Yes, I might be.

Speaker: But that comes with two bits of DLC. And i all it's always a weird thing when it's like, hey, this is the last game, but we're going to come out with DLC like a year after this game comes out.

Speaker: Like they've already announced it. they're They're like, one of the DLC is going to come out like winter this year. The other DLC is going to come out sometime 2020. And I'm like, what? Like I thought this was the end of the story. They're like, who cares, man?

Speaker: go Go play it. uh man eater 2 got announced which is pretty dope that shark game uh which i just genuinely uh am a big fan of in terms of at least the first one but don't know it's just a lot of people just getting mad because their favorite game didn't get announced at a 9 a.m game show so it's like i don't know man stay mad but keeping with video games there is something that's kind of sucks surprise surprise uh xbox switches to monthly hour limits to cloud gaming uh so this doesn't mean that you know if you have game pass that you're playing on cloud but or i'm sorry that you are now limited to like five hours a month but if you are utilizing the cloud gaming aspects so remember the whole thing this is an xbox

Speaker: right, your phone's an Xbox, you know your PlayStation and ah your refrigerator's an Xbox, right? Anything that could support cloud gaming ah was initially unlimited and now you are quite limited to, you know, even the Xbox Ultimate Pass, which is still something like 30 something dollars a month, you only get 15 hours of gameplay on the cloud, which is just, I don't know, like,

Speaker: why are we doing this? Why are we hurting ourselves like this? I don't quite get it. um I also saw gameplay for the new Street Fighter six characters who is based. RG RG.

Speaker: He's basically one of the characters from RRR. Yeah, it's pretty great. Hell yeah. Yeah. Hell yeah, exactly. um I would recommend going to check that out just because it looks this looks dope. He's like a smoke guy. He looks like Rashid's brother or something. Right. Isn't that the one guy from five?

Speaker: John Rashid. Yeah. Rashid. Yeah. He's in six to. Oh, OK. Yeah. He just I don't know, man. He looks like his like older brother something like that. He's a you he's a YouTuber. Oh, it's wait. The big guy or streamer or something.

Speaker: No, Rashid. All right, then. And six oh uses meta glasses. all righty then yeah yeah um and also if you want you can get a sorry that's my dog making all that crazy noise uh that was you he's freaking out man You can get Lego set. He's looking for that last zen in the house. You can get a Lego Sony PlayStation if you guys want. This ain't news. This ain't news. Devin, I know you're a Sony guy, but this ain't news. That's news. We don't report on all the Nintendo Legos. This is the worst. is the one week where it popped up in the fucking news round. That's all we were talking about. You guys were really called by God. Look how good the Lego Mario. We got the bread. We got the bread. The new Mario. Fucking insane. No, no, no, no, no. You know what? I'm looking here. I don't see anything about how at 9 a.m. for the next two days, we are getting Zelda Direct and a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.

Speaker: And there have been some monumental, monumental leaks about this, Devin. They're saying, oh, you want the Nintendo leaks? Welcome to Steve's Leaky Pipes.

Speaker: I'm about to give you the most leaky leaks. Drop it. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Here. I'm going to finish them right now. Are you ready? I don't know y'all are ready, but here we go. Here we go.

Speaker: Brand new Smash Brothers game in development. Okay. Called Smash. a of wait Not a port of Ultimate. Not a port of Ultimate. What's higher what's higher than Ultimate? What could they call this?

Speaker: Smash Bros. Apocalypse. Apocalypse. ah Ragnarok Smash Bros. Doomsday Super Smash Bros. Alpha and it's The End Baby versions of all the characters The End Oblivion Dude, i'm I'm listening. I like all of these. Morrowind. Wait, do you ah do you think do you think he's gonna the guy? you think the guy who Tragic death. You think he's back? Yeah, is he back? because he's kind of Is this a Kojima situation where he always does? Super Smash Brothers. If I remember correctly. Why am I blanking on his name? He's like the one of the best ever.

Speaker: You're talking about Sakurai. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Master Hero Sakurai. Sakurai. Let me ask you this, right? You're talking about Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's say you get you get the vaunted title. You get the title card.

Speaker: Sakurai. And then, you know, five years from now, we finally get it. Sakurai. But they say, hey, Sakurai's not doing that. That's true. Are your yeah wins, are you are you you know, is the win taken out of your sails?

Speaker: Dude, that's going to be a weird one. That's going to be a weird one. I don't know if my wins are out of my sails, but... Dude, just this week, they discovered that in Super Smash Bros., if you throw a ball, the CPU of Duck Hunt will fetch it.

Speaker: Just this week they discovered that. Dude is a weird ass coder putting weird shit in the game. He's a weird guy, He's weird He's living under his desk. Here's the thing, though. I think he's in.

Speaker: I think he's in. i He can't help himself. He's got two really big hands. He's got two really big hands. I need you to make a smash, brothers. I can't animate anymore. My hands have gotten bigger.

Speaker: So his hands keep growing every time he makes a Smash Brothers game? That's why he offsets with the Master Hand fight. God damn it. I'm currently hospitalized. I can't move. Alright, well I got more leaks for you, okay? I'm not done. I'm not done. you Guess what?

Speaker: Nintendogs is coming back. that could have stay Shut your mouth, Devin. You're saying some nonsense right now. You don't know because it's going to be Nintendogs. Oh, really? going be piggies? It's going to be big old pigs that you raise and slop them up. right, that part I just made up. That's what I'm hoping. All right, here we go. Mario Kart World DLC coming in 2027. Featuring

Speaker: featuring Fox McCloud.

Speaker: like There is also... What's up? I'm listening. Okay. I'm not surprised none of this hit my radar because it's all fucking garbage news. Wow. You know what? I said it. I just announced a new Smash Brothers and Devin said, yeah it's no Lego PlayStation 1.

Speaker: ah They are also announcing that a new Star Fox Adventures game is in development as well as coming next year, three d Mario, Wario World, and a new 2D Metroid. Oh.

Speaker: There you go. There you go. mar Oh, and also tomorrow they are going to be talking about Ocarina of Time remake and also probably a teaser trailer for the Zelda movie. Yes. A nice sleazer teaser. A little sleazy teasy for you. Yeah, they got to show that Ocarina. Let me see the Zelda's boobie. It's going to open up.

Speaker: Cue the Rob Zombie music. Link doesn't talk. He just talks in mean. What if it just starts?

Speaker: yeah um and everything's good link doesn't talk he just just talks in me away that but if it just starts i mean It's just going like, awful You probably wonder what I got here. Record scratch. Rookwell's, your name's this is is Zelda?

Speaker: so yeah talking Max Edru? Well, excuse me, princess. Ganondorf's going to beat you up at the end of 8th period. Yeah, he wishes.

Speaker: Principal Ganondorf. Principal Ganondorf's going to beat you up at 8th period. He's going beat your ass. ah do do Gym coach Ganondorf? He's going to kick the shit out of here. Come on, Link. You can't even jump. he says he can't stack mats right. Get to get to geometry, Link, right now. Today, we're going to learn about Dry Force.

Speaker: yeah We're alluding out to count to three. Five. Anyway, that's all my Nintendo stuff for you. That's legitimately cool. Um, hey, can somebody walk me through this?

Speaker: It's cool. This this trailer for yeah you can see everything because i saw clip, which is essentially the trailer, right?

Speaker: And I was like, oh, so this is like a fake documentary. No. And then somebody was like, no, that's like a real person he's interviewing. He's like, just like Elizabeth Holmes. Elizabeth Holmes. Yeah. Elizabeth Holmes. Elizabeth Holmes. Branding like I'm five.

Speaker: called Theranos. She was the CEO, I believe. Let me look that up, actually. But anyway, She was basically lying to her shareholders and created a fake product for them to invest in her company and ah embezzled all the money and tried to run away. And of course she was caught and then she was put on trial and she had this really weird voice ah during the the trial. I think she was talking for a Congress at some point because the scandal involved like hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars.

Speaker: But this documentary that Nathan Fielder is making is the 34 days before she goes to jail for, i believe it's 20 years.

Speaker: And she doesn't know who who Nathan Fielder is. She just thinks he's a journalist or something? or I don't know. i think Nathan Fielder is going into this as as ah transparent as possible because he obviously got the documentary of a lifetime you know with this woman.

Speaker: And she's obviously unhinged from her weird voice. and just her creepy eyes and... she's she's She's a con artist you know to the to the highest degree, so this could all be a lie as well, which is why he's pressing her in that scene.

Speaker: um Yeah, this is going to be a fascinating documentary about a con artist yeah of the highest degree. I will say, just um knowing that now, this this teaser or trailer, whatever you want to call it, is way more effective because you're like, oh, that's creepy.

Speaker: Yeah, it's kind of a gut punch with the context. Yeah, and this is going to be... I don't know if this is going to be funny. This seems... Yeah, that seems pretty weird. Off-putting, for sure. Definitely off-putting. It's going to be uncomfortable. That's for sure. But yeah, I am... What do they say? Locked in. popped in a zen. Day zero. Day zero.

Speaker: oh shit they ratty' bureau Day zero, he's ready. i'm ah No cap, like, for real. Oh, sorry, Chris. is ah It's on my Netflix. yeah It's a netflix document seeing this one my four yeah yeah artist on Netflix on Netflix.

Speaker: It's on Netflix, and Nathan Fielder thinks Godfather Part 3 is a good movie. so God damn it. who's are you beautiful for you never meet your You never meet your heroes. yeah fine Chris, you also posted ah the new Street Fighter trailer. You sure did.

Speaker: This is the one that one may have won me over. because of the... Story. The plot, as they say. this is the one that actually had a plot.

Speaker: They know what they're doing over there at Capcom. Capcom's been doing this for years, man. This is something. This looks pretty interesting. I mean, it still looks pretty dumb. It looks fun. Silly.

Speaker: you know It does look fun, and there is some sort of core struggle between Ken and Ryu that I think is pretty fun. It's cool to see those guys being the main characters again, I guess. Yeah, definitely. They should be, I guess. I

Speaker: i love that, though. Yeah. He's awesome. now this ah yeah and Wait, do we have an over-under of how many Sonic Booms he's going to do? it going to be one? Because he says Sonic Boom once, at least.

Speaker: This is a friend slot movie. I don't know what think I could I'd be like, guys, who we're seeing this the night before the wedding.

Speaker: Jenny, it's sorry. dude. Nah, I think you're SOL. Yeah, it's not worth it. This is best for everybody. This is best for, because I'll be I don't i don't know when i want to watch it. whatdding Because Sam wants to watch it.

Speaker: Like, she really, really wants to watch it. Which, like, is cool, I guess. Because Street Fighter is a huge part of my life. And she... Does Oman want to watch it? My nephew wants to see it. He loves Zangief.

Speaker: And I'm like, bro, I'll take you. Okay. But you gotta beat me in chess first. He'll never beat me in chess. That's never happening. So, you know. Fine! Sorry. Yeah, i don't know. i mean Yeah.

Speaker: No, because we got to... Since my children are not invited to the wedding, we have to use... We have to use up a lot of... ah What do they call it? Ether?

Speaker: We have to use Ether from Final Fantasy. Babysitting Ether. Yeah. You're saying that's finite. You know, you could only pull something. Yeah. cover it Yeah. here Well, I mean, that's the thing. like i don't know I don't know when I'm going watch this because I can't watch it day one.

Speaker: can't watch it day zero. And it's because, well, yeah, one, the kids aren't invited the wedding. But also, ah it's also because Sam wants to watch it too. So it's like, yeah. well You guys can't just take a little romantic Sunday? Yeah, you you love that. I got a really unique solution to this.

Speaker: You'll watch the kids, Chris? e No, no, no. no we can all watch a fresh baby We can all enjoy Street Fighter and go to the wedding. Maybe Devin won't see most of it, but he'll watch it later. Oh, so you guys can see it without me. You're going to make the sacrifice. So the way I look at it, the plan I have.

Speaker: So we're going to strap a ah TV screen on Devin's back. Right. Okay. Okay. And during the whole ceremony, i just dream. that's a good idea. And we're all looking at them anyway, because it's their wedding. Right. So yeaha a uncle we're watching the street fighter too.

Speaker: yeah Yeah, that won't be distracting. I like that you're calling it The Street Fighter. we can all hunt The Street Fighter. It's a very social network of it. yeah Yeah, I got to cut the the. But but like at this point, it the it is The Street Fighter. I don't want Devin's back. Devin does his whole wedding thing. you know Yeah, we're watching the fucking movie.

Speaker: Are you bringing Duke to the wedding, Chris? Of course. Oh, no, probably not. Because I keep her forgetting. Because dogs were invited to the wedding, but Devin's nephew and niece were not invited. So, you know, to be fair, I didn't even want to invite dogs to the wedding.

Speaker: like like i yeah I guess that that would be a little, ah be a little, uh, could be a nightmare. If you think of it's like it everything went wrong yeah with the dogs, you know, yeah in a park, they most certainly will, you know, when they say, and does anybody have any reason to object to this man wedding? Every dog starts barking. Every single dog. I've literally, I've literally been like, yeah, but like, you know, what if it was just Musashi, right? Like, that's what makes it cute.

Speaker: like Oh, it makes it special. Yeah. She's like, yeah you so Fuck. We'll see. Not worth. not one not battle you know Are a lot of dogs coming? by the way That's the thing. No one's confirmed their dog's coming.

Speaker: Because that's a crazy thing to have to confirm, i think. yeah Yeah. I'm hoping everybody just goes, probably not. I can't. With my responsibilities, I don't think I could do it. Duke's a mania.

Speaker: yeah Duke's a wild man. And he hurt himself recently. Oh, did he? His nail is like... Duke Claw. Duke Claw. He fucked it up. How'd he fuck it up?

Speaker: because how do he fuck It up i could be a multiple multitude of things. Like, he jumps up on the couch, obviously. That could fuck it up. He could get caught in, like, a seam and somewhere in the couch. He's running around the backyard like a fucking maniac chasing who knows what. Like, he's he's living a wild... He's living La Vida Loca.

Speaker: Living La Vida Loca. All right? Like, so I... When somebody is living Vida Loca... they they're you know Things are going to happen inside, outside, in, dude.

Speaker: Yeah. the it's it's where you go up and You go take your all your clothes off and go dancing in the rain. It's fine. Yeah. But like eventually, you're going to get a cold. And your dewclaw's going get messed up. And your fucking dewclaw's going to get messed up because Ricky Martin's a dog. And that's what he was singing about the whole time. Not invited to Devin's wedding. He's a dog. He's a dog, bro. He's not human person. He's actually dog. I don't know anybody knew that. Yeah.

Speaker: It's also ah so interesting in in potentially terrible news. I don't know if you would call this good news, but Last of Us is definitely planned to continue after the third season, which means... i thought it got canceled.

Speaker: No, no, these guys are white, so they didn't get canceled. let's No, I thought the thing ah the things I've been reading was that a little bit of tension. o People throw fucking shade at each other. threw chair?

Speaker: What I've been reading and seeing is that Druckmann and Naughty Dog have nothing to do with this third season at all. Well, they said they're working on Intergalactic, right? Yeah. Oh, oh wait! um You gotta read between lies. but druchman And Druckmann, he kind threw shade at Craig Mason.

Speaker: like In an interview, he like they asked him Hold let me see if I can find it. yeah That dumb bald fuck wouldn't know lesbian if it came with fucking Yeah, I don't know what was that broke them.

Speaker: yeah i don't know what it was that like that broke broke with them well i mean They were pretty much glazing each other. Yeah, well I mean, I think he was kind of pressured to, you know, go back to work, essentially. Like Druckmann was.

Speaker: I like the idea that Mazin was like, hey, when are you going home? Yeah. Don't you have, like, a day on the couch? I don't want to say two, three years now, but you got to go back to work. They're fine without me.

Speaker: Like, you don't have, you don't make any money. Yeah. He asked Frank Miller in an interview for advice on how to make a collaborator not abandon the spirit of his stories. Wow. He asked Frank Miller? Well, wait. ho He's an idiot. for you ah Come on, Chris.

Speaker: He asked the writer slash director of RoboCop 3? No, no. He wrote RoboCop 2, but they didn't even go through script. Did he write three? No.

Speaker: Actually, I don't know. But you could say writer and director of The Spirit. He's written enough other things that you could discredit him for. There's plenty. they said Why go to that? Yeah, what do you think what do you think it was?

Speaker: I don't know. Well, I mean, like probably it was the law it was the long, long time episode, wasn't it? He said, ah really so he so Druckmann didn't interview. He said Naughty Dog is still the steward of the IP.

Speaker: And even though this might be the end of the adaptation, we're not doing the last of us. This is the closest thing. And he's saying it in the snooty ass voice, the snootiest voice possible because he always talks like that. Yeah, but um no, no. So actually, you know, in reading this, he might just be referring to that. They're just going to make the last was three.

Speaker: Yeah, that's what I think. yeah Oh, and he said, he said i wasn't involved in shaping this season's creative direction. he didn't that So I can't personally speak to how production is progression. We know season three is slated for release next year. We'll focus on Abby.

Speaker: You know what it probably is driving this to HBO's part? George RR Martin. I think they are at the point where they're tired of dealing with source material creatives that have been dragging their feet with creating and like a new story for whatever IP they're adapting. And they're just like, we're just going to truck ahead. Let's just run for Like, fuck whoever else. We need we need to make money here. don't need to truck, man. We need to truck, man. Billionaires are hungry for money and we need to feed them.

Speaker: Who's thinking of the millionaires? Yeah. yeah So, yeah, they they learned with well old Tubby that he's not going to finish anything. And they got to just plow ahead regardless.

Speaker: No slowing down, dude. Yeah, but that is interesting. Yeah, so, so yeah. i Because they got matching tattoos and everything. Well, i mean, yeah, the way this reads, the way this reads I think and headline-wise, it kind of seemed like there was going to be ah season four, but after reading the actual article. this the Frank Miller interview?

Speaker: No, no, this is Druckmann. Druckmann and Frank Miller. No, he did a talk to the Washington Post. But this kind of just implies that they're going to make a last three. lass was three ah game instead of the show.

Speaker: Which is... I mean, that's not necessarily groundbreaking. He teased that pretty heavily. I was just concerned that if this was going to get a season four as a show, it's like...

Speaker: Are they going structure are they just going to go completely in a completely different direction? But that being said, dude, what happened there? What happened? interesting Interesting. Interesting point you made there. Somebody had a disagreement. Yeah.

Speaker: It was voiced. you know I ah Devin, your voice weirdly cut out and someone I think farted, so it sounded like you somehow farted mid-sentence. Oh, no.

Speaker: It was me. I overtook my audio. it's yeah much more more i think that's cache That's the same reason why Druckmann and Mazin broke up.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah. ah yeah man Let's just just get through this now. Spider-Man Noir canceled after one season. I'm not terribly disappointed in that, not because I didn't like the show, but he kind of said what it needed it to say.

Speaker: And I don't think Nicolas Cage is all that broken up either. So... yeah Yeah, I thought this was a limited series. It felt like it could have gone on, but it's like, eh.

Speaker: and I'm curious if them splitting the show up into a black and white and a color version made the numbers look low. I mean, I'm sure they combined it when they were talking about, like...

Speaker: Yeah, I don't know. That's really high-level thinking for idiots. Yes, that's right. Steve might be on to something. Yeah. Well, it was fine. No, it was good. It was a good show, but we can do it. And then, hey, guys, you guys see this new Harry Potter show that's coming out?

Speaker: Yeah, what are your thoughts, Devin? I actually didn't see the trailer. It's the first one. I'm like clicking it as we speak. Dude,

Speaker: dude it's just the same discourse again. I hate fucking... I hate having this conversation. Well, it's just... I think weird thing is it just looks so similar that it's... Harry Potter is a very striking and specific...

Speaker: the design world so when the first adaptation nails it and then this adaptation is just doing it again it's it really it's tough to yeah but if you but if you like it you're a horrible person I don't even care that part of it doesn't even bother me but well it does bother me but the other the part when you really the part the part that really that ruffles my feathers most is just not it necessary I guess. It's like it's so this has been done. Like that said, Chris, i I said it like maybe five minutes ago.

Speaker: The billionaires are hungry. christian they Money. They got to give this money to land. and town What did you? What did Terrell Owens say?

Speaker: That he's fucking... He's got a family to feed. He's got a family to feed, Chris. He's got fucking... He's got boats to buy. they got boats to buy. Yeah. Come on. You know? You gotta buy a boat.

Speaker: You see how cool that was? Well, dude, Snape, though. Yeah. I'm different about the Snape. It's unnecessary, but also not surprising. Yeah. You know?

Speaker: Because, like, how long has it been since the last movie? I guess i shouldn't be so naive. In a minute, you know? Yeah. But... yeah well I think the season one is going to be particularly tough because like they didn't really take a lot out. That first movie really close adaptation.

Speaker: it's like you know In the other books, there was definitely shit that was cut out. Notable shit. well yeah yeah yeah Harry Potter takes a big dump. yeah yeah exactly but like all people People noticed, that when they see Fluffy,

Speaker: it's four of them Like in the book, it's not just the three. you know? Yeah, Chris, that's why you got to watch this one. It's four this time

Speaker: time. I mean, i mean the the main consensus is if you like it, you're a horrible person. You deserve to die. That's all that's all I've been seeing online lately. And i'm quite frankly, I'm kind of tired of it, to be honest.

Speaker: I'm tired of seeing shit like that. Like, who cares? You know? Yeah. i don't know you know gu yeah well i mean i guess i care in the sense of like if it's bad for people who just say hey this looks good imagine what these fucking literal children are being subjected to online you know they're like oh did you know not only are you a piece of shit but you're also not the right skin color for Hermione. You know what I mean? it's Or Snape. and it's like oh I definitely like i let everyone, i let them all know. oh

Speaker: Well, no, Chris, the big hook here is it's called, it's correctly called the Philosopher's Stone instead the Sorcerer's Stone. The Falafel Stone. Okay. Okay. full off a falafel stone

Speaker: okay No, because, because, Chris, you don't understand because they thought audiences in America were too stupid to know what that meant. So that's why they just called it the Sorcerer's Stone.

Speaker: Because that's. Yeah. Because so, Chris, that's that big UK highbrow, the UK highbrow. So, Chris, think about like when Resident Evil 7, it was also called biohazard. You know, it's like that level of smart.

Speaker: Cool. So they changed the title. Yeah. So it's really super. Yeah. are like this weird think about It's like crazy, right? Necessary change. It's no Animorphs.

Speaker: Whoa. Okay. Hold on. Hold your horses. You know what it was called in ah the UK Animorphs? Animal people! Animal people! Animal people! I'm animal. Hey, you know you know who else is an animal person?

Speaker: Mad-Eye Moody. He's a little rat. or No, the other... Yes. me Yeah, when did lot when when the but last Harry Potter movie come out?

Speaker: Deathly Hallows Park was in 2011. Deathly Hallows. 2011. When's this come out?

Speaker: This year, right? Did make that up? Shit. shit So it's been what? 15 years? 15 years since I drank a so ah crush a six pack and then saw this movie and then forgot the entire first half.

Speaker: because I was too... it's Harry Potter in the philadelphia stone what's the next yeah what's what's the um and the What's Chris, what are the what are the statute of limitations in your opinion for so for like a remake of something of this caliber? Because I got the Deathly Hoagies. What do you mean by level? When's enough time?

Speaker: just

Speaker: what do you mean by level i don't understand when's enough time Right? Yeah, what how how much is enough time before it's like okay to remake something like this? I don't if that' If that's like the main if that's a main like gripe you have with it, that it's unnecessary, I guess. 30-some years? forty some years like Enough time for a younger generation to watch it.

Speaker: But like, I don't know, like not enough time for people the same generation to be nostalgic over it. Like that just seems like it's cheap cash grab.

Speaker: Like to me, it needs like a reset completely. And it needs it needs a notable amount of time. It's hard to say. But I do feel like it is it's too early.

Speaker: it's It's, like Devin was saying, visually similar to the movies, which makes it weird. Because you compare the two and you say, like, oh, okay.

Speaker: Yeah, it definitely doesn't look bad. It looks it looks good. It just... I also don't like Harry Potter. i mean that's No, but Chris, this is called the philosophy. Chris, that means you're a good person and you're going to heaven.

Speaker: That's what that means. I don't like it because of any political reasons. It means that you're an amazing... You should be president of the world if you love it. Nah, it's just like... It's crazy. Personally, don't care. I actually... I think I watched like i don't i actually

Speaker: five seconds of the trail, and I was like, I don't really fucking care about this. Yeah. Me watching five seconds out of it, mean, it might be on, but I might be, don't know, making prop bets on my phone on DraftKings and not really caring. But like, you know, because I really have no... I don't really care that much about Aaron Potter. I have no connection to this at all.

Speaker: I have none. And I also don't really find a problem with... it existing, I guess. I mean, i don't know. See, the the best the problem you raise is the money for the boats.

Speaker: The problem is that money goes to somebody who is funding things that they're not boats. They're there. Yeah, I guess you do things but also like I'm not going to like scream death to somebody because I know a lot of people grew up on this and this is, you know, yeah. And I guess my my argument to that is like a lot of money people are spending on whatever they like.

Speaker: whether it's this or whether it's, I don't know, Chick-fil-A or craft hobby, craft stuff at Michael's. Yeah, or like buying at, like lot of their money is going to fucking people that are horrible people regardless anyway. Like, you know, that's just my fucking fence-sitting like opinion on this. And it's like, why you? think it would be unhappy life if you try your hardest to like avoid all that stuff.

Speaker: But it's like people are going out of their way to make people feel bad about being excited for something that they like. like you know It's also the opposite end too where it's like people being racist about characters like Newcastle. There's so much – the problem with this is so much – There's so many layers of toxicity on it in so many different directions. It's crazy. It's fucking insane. like Yeah, because on one hand I'm like, oh, that's cool.

Speaker: Fucking Black Snape. It's almost like... Maybe he's really good. Yeah. Right. Like, that could be a great thing. But it's just... It's just so much bullshit is surrounding this. It's crazy. And that's the that's where I'm coming from. it that's That's how everything gets hit. Like, they we love lanterns. And then, like, you go online and there's all these, like, lunatics who are like, lanterns is the worst thing ever. And you're like, really? Like, are you... What? Yeah.

Speaker: I just internet discord. Don't listen in anybody's opinion. I don't know. Yeah. If, if, you know, you're into something when it comes down to go for it, but you know, yeah, I mean, I, as long as like a part of me is. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. I mean, I get a part of me is like, um, like empathetic to something like this, because there are things that in my life that I'm very nostalgic about that. Like I would, you know, if it was a similar situation, i that's not something,

Speaker: that was Well, they canceled the Sandman show. I know, but... That was yeah the one, right? That's not one... If it came out that... God forbid, if it came out that Shinji Mikami was a fucking like you know piece of shit, like frequent Epstein Island like visitor, you know? And even then, it'd have to be more than like two, right?

Speaker: Yeah, right. Yeah, and then, like, you know, like this was before, like, you know, the RE2 remake, RE4 remake came out. like And, like, I was just seeing a bunch of shit online saying that, oh, if you buy this game, you're a fucking... You're an asshole. you You deserve die. Like, shit like that. like That kind of... like it makes me It makes me mad because I empathize with people that are nostalgic about things that they grew up with.

Speaker: And, like, this is why I was very, like, ah I guess, defensive over some of these um topics when people were taking hard stances on in our in our own discord about it i'm just like dude like all right then fucking then get off your computer and stop spending money like on literally anything because like everything applies like everything that you you have applies to it like your fucking car applies to it you're you know like

Speaker: you're you buying something on amazon your favorite or favorite sports yeah and i'm not saying like there's a like in my opinion there's a difference between somebody who's nostalgic about harry potter and a person that like actively uses jk rowling and that ip as like weaponized like language that actively hurt people and whatever you know and that's why i kept i kept saying fucking hp live lovecraft You guys love – yeah, and I was – HP Lovecraft has been making Twitter posts every day and like using his money. Oh, no, he would have 100%. But these are – those are ideas that people love that came from his brain.

Speaker: So how if we look at it that way, you know like how could you how could you you know uplift something that came from somebody so horrible, you know? Is that not the same as like me? yeah Oh, you know what? My cop wast a my co is so my cough is not wasn't a bad of a book. but It was a good book. Nowadays, you got you I will agree that it's impossible boycott everything that you know you disagree with. It's impossible.

Speaker: But you you do kind of choose your own battle. You choose your battles. You choose whatever thing that you really feel strongly against. You will have whatever feeling you want, boycotting, whatever you feel.

Speaker: I get where people come from choosing those things. I do. Like I, I, I feel certain ways about certain things that I don't watch and I don't enjoy. i don't extend that belief onto others though.

Speaker: You're not policing people's like choices decision and decisions and what they want to see. yeah But in the same breath, like I feel like everybody should be able to boycott whatever the hell they want for whatever reasons. Yeah, i'm not I'm not saying people shouldn't boycott or or whatever. like I'm just saying like you know don't fucking – I'll quote Jesus.

Speaker: Like fucking cast the first stone. You're right. now But like I understand why people would boycott certain things. like i get it I totally understand it too. I that get where they're coming from. That is a battle they chill. But there's a difference between boycotting something personally and then like actively attacking other people and make making everything wayward like escalating things way worse. That's where it gets weird. because then i mean that's you know That's basically where our country is now. It's bunch of people that feel strongly about something and then they just... We used to be... I disagree with you.

Speaker: you know, but whatever. Now it's like, you know, now it's like you don't deserve to be alive because of whatever, you know, and it's like, it's just insane to me. Yeah. It's a fast escalation. Everything escalates really quickly.

Speaker: You know, yeah doesnt there's no nuance. Yeah. And maybe, maybe I'm softened up because, you know, i got kids now. So it's like, I wouldn't want if they're into whatever, like they want to be into whatever it may be, as long as, you know,

Speaker: Like there's, you know, there's a difference between wearing, you know, anti-LGBTQ like gear and tattoos and shit and like throwing, like throwing stuff at people and being bullies. And, you know, there's a difference between that and then like liking something that came from, originated from a ah horrible person that collects residuals on it.

Speaker: Right. Like in my mind there is. And I, I wouldn't want my kids to feel like they couldn't express themselves freely because somebody might think they're a horrible person when expressing themselves freely wouldn't make them a horrible person and the thing is you know kids kids don't know that stuff like you know i i know like you know oh he loves horror movies and monsters and stuff like you know he might find jeepers creepers he has a he has a good he has a co thats he has a cthulhu book does that mean he's fucking racist

Speaker: I don't think so. know, no, i don't think so. I mean, like it, and you know, there might be a person down the line that's like, Oh, well, HP love crowd is blah, blah, blah. And you, you know, he's a horrible person and you should feel bad for liking fucking squid monsters, you know, that are, that melt your brain, you know, like, I don't know.

Speaker: I'm just, I'm sensitive to defending people for what they enjoy, I guess. Uh, When that thing itself, the act itself isn't actively hurting somebody.

Speaker: I always say, hey, if you're looking for children learning about cool stuff in school media, the go into X-Men. X-Men's sick as hell. that's That's my, that's or or My Hero Academia. That's the one I always kind of.

Speaker: Yeah, because I mean, I won't mention any names, but there were you know some people in our community that were very, very staunchly against,

Speaker: Anything Harry Potter, which is fine. But then when it came to somebody else, like Neil Gaiman, it was like, well, all the things didn't really come out yet. You don't really know the whole story. yeah You know, like, and it's like like, okay, you're doing the same thing, and I'm not going lambast you for it, but, like, it's just like, dude, like...

Speaker: I don't know. That's just how I see it. Everybody chooses their own battleship. Some people battle this, some people battle that. I'm not saying they ever stop. you know like yeah It's their choice to to boycott this or boycott that for whatever reason. And it's not necessarily a bad thing. But then to attack others, that's where it starts become that's where Yeah, and then and then everybody, whether it's that or whether it' we're fighting among or whether it's the the racism against Snape and shit, like yeah you know they you know they just scream shit in their echo chambers and gas each other up and then ah it just gets bigger and bigger and bigger and everybody's voice becomes louder and louder and then and then nobody's allowed to like anything anymore. The same as a movie about an inspirational child that gains knowledge and wisdom from

Speaker: people that care about him has been so toxic. Can you talk about the movie big again? Talk about big because um if you know anything about Penny Marshall who directed it, she was on Epstein. That's not true. Oh my God. I'm going any farther with that. She's a sweet woman who passed away. She was a sweet woman. So that's not true. All right, let's wrap this one up. We're at the three hour mark. This is a long one.

Speaker: Ooh, we'll be back next week with, I guess, more lanterns. We'll be talking about, we'll be having all that Nintendo and Zelda stuff. Hopefully. Yeah, we'll have that.

Speaker: We'll have that update. Maybe I'll play some more or demos Maybe one of us will eat a nice big old pizza. Maybe one. You know what? on Maybe they'll ah'll extend the Onimusha demo again for you.

Speaker: Just giving you more and more mean more. Yeah, all I had to do for this demo was pay $70. And they just gave me a lot more. than that Wow, this demo is great. This is sick.

Speaker: All right. See everybody. Later. You're back.
