Speaker: hello Hello, you are listening to the all-new Anti-Fanboy podcast for the week of 8-31-2026. That's the end of August. For those of you who are just curious, I always forget August has a 31.

Speaker: Maybe it's a leap year problem. I don't know. I can't remember anymore. I'm a little bit stuffy. My name is Devin Koebeck. With me is one Chris Galanti. Stuffol Pizza.

Speaker: Steve O'Tiri. You got to get ready for September. Put away the beach towels. Bring out the pumpkin spice. We're ready for fall.

Speaker: And the man who invented shore traffic, John Suarez. Welcome. man He said, we need something to just ruin everyone's life. What if we just clogged up the highways on Friday you're trying to get home?

Speaker: Have you seen this place, the beach? It's kind of sick. It's kind of sick. We should we should only make it fun for three months of the year. Let's go when we're off. Wait till I tell you about swimming. What?

Speaker: whoa Let me tell you. It is something. Getting your your dick wet is fun. I'm quoting Kevin Kopech. I mean, listen, that's...

Speaker: It falls under the category of one wet penis. know. You said it, and I always remembered it. It's always a good time, dude. that what you do when you walk into the ocean? You go, my penis is wet. Well, that's your barrier the cold water, right? Yeah. Truly, once your dick gets wet, you're like, I can face anything now.

Speaker: you know water is the The temperature of the water doesn't matter. like The damage has been done, and now it's like, all right, let's just get in there. Yeah, there's no point further up where I'm like, well, I'm worried about my my stomach.

Speaker: Yeah, like that's yeah My stomach is getting a little chilly. Yeah, once and Bs get wet, it's like, all right we're just we're ready. The C&Bs. What's the C&B? The old chest and back. The old chest and back, baby. i will say there is a little wiggle room with the nipples, too, once they start getting a little wet. Nipples that nipples are only affected if, like, when you're your're ankle deep and somebody splashes you. Nipples are – that's a tough out. But I feel like once you're waist deep,

Speaker: nipples are fine. like who's really yeah Who's complaining about nipples? Because the thing is, you can like kind of splash your chest at your own discretion. You don't have to dunk them. If I splashed my chest with cold water, I would go, ooh. So we have that scenario. right We have the obvious scenario right when when your shit's wet. a Hot tub, pretty great time.

Speaker: um yeah like Let's say you even had, ah let's just say for whatever reason, You had to pee so bad that you just wet your pants. But even then, the relief has to be pretty intense. I'm just finding scenarios where your dick's getting wet. I think we had a really good topic. We were talking about splashing around in cold water, and Devin said, you know what? I need to make this about peeing my pants. You ever fill your britches so much that your dick gets You ever piss your pants so bad that your dick's wet? The relief intense. It sounds like you have type 5 on peeing your pants that you were getting ready. Yeah. I'm workshopping it, and you guys are fucking up my

Speaker: Well, you know, i would say i you have me at swimming because i I'm an addict at swimming. consensual sex. No, swimming is far more important than me.

Speaker: I'm the Michael Phelps of swimming. All right. that name That was the name of the swimmer. all right yeah yeah yeah i'm yeah i'm saying uh there's there's very few scenarios where it's not where it's not uh pretty dope it's pretty dope across the board i got my dick wet in a lot of ways this summer and devon was there for lot of it i was there for uh all of it all of it all of it all of it unwanted swimming scenarios

Speaker: Really? What do you mean? yeah I think i think they're all they all take place in the winter, though. Where it's like people fall through the ice. Oh, ah no. well not You remember that one scene in the gray where the guy gets stuck under the ice in the water? i got to admit, though, once you're in there and you start getting acoly, you're like, eh. Yeah, it's like a cold plunge. Once you just jump in, you're like, I mean, actually, cold plunge is still pretty rough.

Speaker: I would do a polar bear challenge. Oh, ice bucket challenge. Bring it back. I wouldn't. Yeah. wouldn Yeah. You're doing charity. That's fun. so the The polar bear people, they run into the ocean in the winter. i would do that.

Speaker: How long? like You know, just jump in and jump out. Wait, was I? wear it I think I was with you guys when I did. I ran into the ocean in like October or something.

Speaker: I was in a scenario where it was the beach and I was in the water. And it was colder. It was not the summer. Devin, I think we would be telling that. i might i might have I might have been with my cool group of friends that do that cool shit.

Speaker: You mean Dylan? Yeah, Dylan. Dylan and Brian and Brad. and Oh, my God. And Jeff with a G. Aiden. and Aiden.

Speaker: you know on And Frank. aly K-L-E. That's why we all got in there. You know him kind of you never you never bring us around you should go swimming. It's

Speaker: oh i'm sorry we all go to act like we didn't do that before we all haven't done so we didn't want to do You know what I you know i do every year, Devin? I pay my taxes. I don't want to do them, but I know I have to. You know what? you're cold plunge that's I gave up taxes for Lent this year.

Speaker: it said What? I'm not doing that. I'm sure the IRS did. Yeah. Dude, Irwin R. Sheist is coming for you. You're not No, no. Just not paying taxes. I'm doing something fun.

Speaker: Yeah, man. I'm giving that up. I feel like we've had a pretty a pretty solid week of of entertainment. it Maybe not so much in video games, I i will say that. It seems like we're still in a holding pattern for that shit. Well, we got a trailer we got trailer. We got extended looks at...

Speaker: highly anticipated games. That is true. The game that's holding up every other game. yeah and and this And this is like the first week, this current week is the first week where things are starting to drop. September, the month of hell is happening. I think i think i think the the summer heat broke and now we're getting we're getting some juice. We're getting some meat.

Speaker: We're getting some good good stuff as opposed to crap stuff. its bit of scraping um even though only because I think we all are excited about separate and, and like, we're all excited about the games that are coming out in September, but I feel like we all have our favorites.

Speaker: yeah oh Yeah. Obviously Devin, you're, you're looking forward to, to Wolverine, which of course and that looks great. i'm gonna cut that's That's the one. yeah i'm I'm personally looking forward to in September Control Resonance. Woo! Hell yeah. that's another one That's another one. What do I have? I don't think I have anything. you Do you not have anything? I'm sorry. You don't got Blood of Dawnwalker. XCOM Star Wars. I don't really care.

Speaker: You're really looking forward to Silent Hill Townfall, correct? Nope. Onimusha. There's Onimusha. It's coming out. new No? me look I only play hard games now. Oh, damn.

Speaker: Oh, yeah, because I forgot you didn't play Resident Evil 9, the child's Resident Evil for babies. For dumb, stupid babies. And John, you're just holding out for Grand Theft Auto VI, right? youre youre I guess, yeah, I guess I don't know feel bad now about not getting a PS5 Pro because it doesn't even matter. You guys see that?

Speaker: No. it All out or something. Same frame rate. Same frame rate. oh Throw that shit out. Who needs it? Video games suck. who ah Wait, are we all getting GTA 6?

Speaker: Probably, right? yeah yeah yeah I got to blow all the dust off my PS5. Oh, man. That's what I'm hearing. a I don't know if I'm going to have enough space on this fucker. think it's two terabytes. i feel like you get that Steve, you have to find it first. I think you lost it in your room.

Speaker: Yeah, I thought it was 700 gigabytes or something. i I saw something that said two terabytes, but that might just be something. That's crazy talk, Steve. But then again, you know it's from the internet, which is just a bunch of liars. Storage size is estimated 250 150 250. Okay, there we There one fifty and two fifty okay there we go that's there we go So like ah half of a Call of Duty game, basically? Yeah, Vinyl Rumors online claim the game will take a massive 676 games. Jesus.

Speaker: That's the neighbor of the devil. Let's be real. Nobody has an actual number yet, except for probably whoever stole The guy who stole it. What's his name? Cheeky Wine or something? Cheeky Wine.

Speaker: Cheeky Wine, yeah. Cheeky Wine, that guy rules, man. He's a hero. Dragon's Dogma DLC. John, is that something that would interest you? Oh my lord, try You know, I did hear i did hear they are yeah they're they're kind of like giving it a... Not a redo, right? They're giving it the old college tribe. They're kind of giving it the cyberpunk treatment, I heard. Well, it was like... it was like i mean It was disappointing, but like it was a good game like when it came out. No, but I mean, like they're just... I don't know. It's called like ah dragon a dragon Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, I think, right?

Speaker: It's kind of what they did with the first one. ah Yeah, the first one was called that. yeah Well, yeah, there was Dragon's Dogma, and then there was Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, which has fixed all the a lot of the issues. And I guess that's the implication that this one will be doing the same.

Speaker: can't I can't bring myself to play that game again. Nah, like right now too, when it's like there is going to be stuff coming out at the end of the year. So it makes sense. Makes sense to just kind of hold off, wait for the big swings.

Speaker: So it's really Wolverine and Control Resonant. Wolverine, Control. um and we yeah i got my little list up here. Let me, we got.

Speaker: Wolverine. So we got so Zero Company just came out, which apparently so we're supposed to get. Dawnwalker, Wolverine, Control Resident, Odemusha. she has um a Galactic Racer. That's coming out in October.

Speaker: It looks cool. yeah Gears of War for everybody. Oh, I'm coming back. Who is buying these games still? who is who is buying these games still What, Gears games? Yeah, Gears games. I'm going to say dudes in their early 30s. I'm going be real with you, Steve. Halo 3 crowd.

Speaker: I think that there is like some sort of like racket going on. Wait, you don't like think like Gears games don't have the juice anymore? you're like i don't You don't go out into the world and there isn't there isn't like a pop culture staple of Gears. Yeah.

Speaker: Like, it's like you don't see people losing their mind as they do over Resident Evil. You know, the thing is, is I would agree with you, but I saw a bunch of people lose when it was first announced. Like it had a nostalgia play for people that are like a decade younger than us.

Speaker: That's interesting. You know what I mean? They were like, whoa, like fucking dumb. And i was like, what? And know, like, like retro gaming. Yeah, that's their that's their cloud strife. you know like it just i don't know. lot of the kids at work really like Xbox, though. They're like, what?

Speaker: You guys are lazy. As you pull out your fucking 10-pound handheld and you're like, have you tried this? understand the love for Halo. like i understand the look for halo like i understand that having like a retro, like nostalgic like push behind it.

Speaker: Dude, a lot of people... Horde mode was dope. Horde mode was the shit. You're right. But then but then like what isn't the shit is Gears multiplayer has always...

Speaker: kind of devolved into wall bouncing shoddies. And yeah it's never been fun unless that's how you want to play every multiplayer game. And it's like the immediate bounce off. And i think with the last Gears, that was the case.

Speaker: So it's like, all right, well, I play Gears, but I play Gears for the story. And the story is not exactly great. And i don't know, like it's a fine game. And obviously I was going to play this until they made it console exclusive. And I was like, well, I guess I'm not doing that now. But don't know, man, i was I was kind of excited. But it's just at the end of the day, there's nothing about it visually that has impressed me in the sense of like,

Speaker: I gotta to go out of my way to play this fucking Gears of War game. It just looks like every other Gears game, which is kind of what you want, but it's kind of not, you know, and it's it's just in that kind of awkward holding pattern, I guess.

Speaker: did you um Did you play the previous one? I played five. i played four and five. I played four with a friend in the show, friend in real life, Borden, and I played five. I just like five was like one of the...

Speaker: Only times I really got to enjoy the Xbox. God, don't even know what it's called Play Anywhere. No, Game Pass, Game Pass. I got to like, i was like, ooh, it's on Game Pass. And I just played it on Game Pass. And I was like, this was not that good. And then ah and then it ended. And it ends on a very weird cliffhanger.

Speaker: It's kind of like a choose who dies type of cliffhanger. And you're like, oh, what's Gears 6 going to be? And that was like six years ago. um better and and then And then the next game's a ah prequel because no one liked Gears 5.

Speaker: So it it's just kind of feels... Again, all these are why I had the same reaction as you, Steve. And I was like, oh, okay, Gears game. But then you see people losing their mind and you're like, oh, I guess people do like Gears.

Speaker: I guess. And then you realize it's for people that are you know a little bit... little bit younger than us, I guess. thank you Yeah. A little stinky. little stinky. A little stinky. A little poop smell. little poop smell. Yeah, yeah. Right now, I'd say like like just in September alone, you know you're getting Blood of the Dawnwalker, Wolverine, Control Resonant, Onimusha.

Speaker: That's a cool. Are you playing all these games or no? No, you can't do one. got pi one no no so So due to wedding, I basically I was able to haggle one. And I was like, I guess we'll do Wolverine.

Speaker: That makes sense. i wonder I want to play it. I want to play on the moose. You're so bad, though. Won't play so bad.

Speaker: I'm not allowed. to muhis Yeah. wait cause you play onamusha I mean, it's just like your dog your dog's namesake is in the dude. That wasn't that was a reason I said Jenny.

Speaker: Come on. She's like, no, dude. No, we shouldn't install Wolverine. why' you play Why can't you play both? I don't get it. ah It's just... ah She's just like, dude, i it's a tough visual. It's a tough visual to have. You know what I mean?

Speaker: yells way too much. You could just like switch over while you're playing Wolverine and be like, oh, it's ah it's a flashback to when he went to Japan. Yeah, with a sword. And and he's...

Speaker: And everybody says Musashi because I showed her a bunch because I was like, isn't that cute? She's like, I guess. Because the problem, too, is like the problem is, is like, I don't even know how much I'm going to be able to enjoy Wolverine because it's not the scenario will never not be.

Speaker: Hey, can you pause that real quick? yeah Yeah, sure. What's up? And then it turns into a 25 minute. discussion about wedding stuff. I'm just going, all right, cool. So, well, why, why, why can't be the other, like the reverse? Why can't it be like, yo, let me get one day ah week. I can do this. And then this will be, this will be the day where I need to split your time between both games or like if you, because when is it, when does, uh, on a musha come out? Like ousha is this week? I think, I think, I think probably end of the week. I'll look it up. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, because then, like, you know, you you beat that. Well, maybe it's the end of the month. i heard him I heard it's an easy game. Oh, September 4th. Shouldn't be hard. Okay. Right? Which is so is why I'm not interested in playing it. 10 out of 10 on IGN?

Speaker: That's IGN, dude. It's getting mixed reviews. it's weird I think it's averaging, like, 85 right now. IGN? But IGN, though. When does Wolverine come out?

Speaker: ah Wolverine is the 15th, I think. and two weeks yeah so like yes yeah like why Like, why is there like, a like, why can't you just get both and then figure it out?

Speaker: You're like, you're not, you're just not. I mean, wait I mean, hold on. It was kind of like an agreed upon ah thing. So I also don't want to be like, couldn't you, couldn't you pack up your console?

Speaker: Because like, if you have to be away from the house on, yeah, can grind it out, you grind it out on Sunday, dude. Yeah, I'll be like, sorry, babe. I had to buy it in the game. about this? Well, yeah, yeah Evan, will will rent I'll rent you a Starlink, and then you can get PlayStation portal, right?

Speaker: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker: oh yeah yeah yeah You play it on the boat. You can play boat. Oh, dude, that be kind sick. You get the Wolverine on the boat. See, then you can do the thing Tim did where he was like, dude, I got to play Super Mario Odyssey and I was playing the New Donk City part and I was crying, you know, because I felt like I was becoming an adult. And you could have that same experience but with Wolverine on a boat. Is that what he said?

Speaker: I was playing Super Mario. Wait, so what happens if you What happens if you beat Wolverine like in a week or something?

Speaker: like Then you're just... you're you're Well, like by the time... is up and Yeah, if Wolverine's really short... Yeah. like Four hours. yeah Four hours? So, truthfully... If you're able to beat it a reasonable time... like Listen, these are all these are all things where I was like, Jenny, I was like, Jenny, there's no fucking way um it's going to take me longer than a week. guys arent died Real talk. Sure. I'm not even married yet. You guys are even married yeah married. Well, honestly, this is this is the only this is the only reason is because she's like, we're we're in crunch time, dude. I can't be trying to talk to you about wedding shit.

Speaker: and watched you play fucking and kind of three different video games are in the space. Also, like, i guess it's just some bad time rebuttal to that would be like, yeah, but I also don't want to fucking lose my mind. And this is what I want. like This is what I need.

Speaker: This is this is how I keep my head level. Yeah, I need a, you know, The thing though I can understand where Jenny's coming from because I've seen how Devin plays games. He gets that glazed over look and start asking him questions. But could compromise the other way. Devin could compromise the other way, right? He does the elephant's impression.

Speaker: um yeah oh yeah like yeah ah yeah yeah like i said Like I said, it's just a tough visual. It's a visual for her be like. What if Wolverine actually you're super disappointed with it?

Speaker: Yeah, what if you find out it's an episode? Sorry, partner. Could at Wifestop wife stop and get get the other game and play that? yeah be so So the problem, Jenny, is this was such a disappointment. I had to spend another $70 to this other game.

Speaker: Oh, Jenny, that game sucks. Yeah, what if yeah what if we bought what if we buy the other one for you? Then what? I'm not going to... Listen, that's what I think we in the business call a legal loophole.

Speaker: A legal loophole. Oh, wait, so the issue is you buying it, or is it the issue... No, no, I mean, it's a mix, because she's like, bro, we still owe fucking so-and-so and so-and-so and so-and-so, and if you spend...

Speaker: fucking $150 on games you won't even have time to play. And I was like, fair. So that's when it turned into, well, I was like, listen, Onimusha's, that's a Capcom game.

Speaker: That's going to be like a 16-hour game at max. yeah Probably with some replay value. but i have an idea for part of the bachelor party, Steve. Oh, yeah? Since we're going to have a hotel room, why don't we bring a PlayStation 5 and Onimusha and make Devin beat it?

Speaker: before we have to check out of the hotel after dinner. That's not a bad idea. That's not a bad idea. That would be kind of chill. ah Dude. Yo, man, you got one day, David. You got one day. That's one day.

Speaker: I'll be like, listen, Jenny. Let me look up how long it is to beat it. I don't know if it's out yet.

Speaker: Onimusha. No, it doesn't that come out soon? it's It's supposed to come out on the 3rd. it says Oh, yeah. So I guess by then we'll know. By then we'll know. But I don't know if we can find out now. How long to be.

Speaker: Oh, man. 20 hours to finish the main story. Yeah, I don't think you're going to be. You know what? Just load me up on some grandma pies. Yo.

Speaker: Hook those grandma pies to my face. We call that gamer fuel. We call that gamer fuel in the biz. Well, also, Devin... if you're, you know, if you have to get fucked this weekend, like why don't you just bring your PS five with you and just play it during the, during the get fucked nights too. I know.

Speaker: i also just the way you say that, you know, I don't want to, I don't want to enable toxic behavior, but like, it's also like, Yo, like, why are you wasting your time with this bachelorette party when we should be locking down on this wedding? Like, why does it have to be three days?

Speaker: You know? Damn. don't know. I'm just saying. Yeah? You just want me to pick fights that I can't win? Well, I mean... i'm not going to win that. I'm not going to win that, John. Well, I'm also, like, you know, i I try to discourage you from fighting with her, but, like, this this is kind of... I don't know. This one kind of bothers me. one it It kind of bothers you. I, uh... Listen...

Speaker: Because it's the work-life balance. Like, you shouldn't have to balance life twice. I mean, the reality is the reality is if there wasn't a wedding involved, she wouldn't give a shit because she's never given a shit before.

Speaker: You know? It's just... right You know, I'm just... I'm giving her... Throwing her bone. You know what I mean? It's like her... I don't want to say it's her one ask but...

Speaker: I'm just like, would this just be me being difficult? And the answer to that question is yes. So I'm just going, hey, whatever. of and And at the end of the Just talk about your mental health, Evan. Yeah. Well, at the end of the day, skate if i if i really if I really fucking want to play it, I'll fucking play it.

Speaker: You know? Yeah. I'll fucking play it. You're dogs in the game. Yeah. I'll be like, what are you going to do? Beat me up? What are you going to beat me up? and you Get out of here. I'm fucking nerd. I think we should – are you planning on buying Wolverine right away?

Speaker: Yeah, no, Wolverine is the day one. there What if Wolverine – what if that opens up at like 78 on metacri or on what if it's like it come like what if it's like five become lowerer than than the like I mean that that's true. That's true.

Speaker: Are you allowed to swap it out? Like, yeah, yeah, no. Yeah, I'm allowed to fucking do whatever. I'm a man. I can do whatever I want. Oh, I can fucking do it. i'm fucking do saying it now No, the only the only thing I told her that i was like, listen, objectively, this would be a tough out is like if I jumped into like a 60-hour RPG the month of the wedding. you know That'd be a tough one.

Speaker: Sorry, Jenny. I'm playing Blood of the Dawnwalker for the third playthrough. Sorry. i need to find I need to get every ending.

Speaker: you know You know what I'm saying? like those are Those are tougher to to debate. That's why I was like Wolverine's an easy one. was like Onimusha's an easy one. Control Resonant is too close. It's too close to the wedding.

Speaker: Yeah. I think. ah Same with, well, I don't think they play it, but. mean, we're all sacrificing, sacrificing. watching street fighter because it's on it comes on your wedding day too that's a bit a and i will big i want you to know who's to say who's to say we all can't sneak out thursday night steve's gonna be wearing his dan costume underneath his fucking suit he said he told me that conference oh oh his you mean his uh his andrew santino costume

Speaker: Is Andrew Santino? Of course. Okay. yeah He's just a fan of him. I'm sorry. Wrong one. God damn. Wrong comedian. Like day after the wedding, you're just going to load up Onimusha? Just grind it out?

Speaker: Dude, I told her. I was like, i said no honeymoon. I told her. I was like, yo, maybe not day after because I'd like to think we'll be Busy enjoying being married. But I was like, bro, all bets are off. i was like My backlog is pretty pretty chunky, dude. I still got 007. I got this Star Wars game to play.

Speaker: really won Yeah, people are loving this zero opening game. Yeah, people say First Light was sick. oh I want to play that. a got ah ah still got orbitals and that's not a yeah I still got I still got... That comes out this week, Devin. I still got... ah I got High Guard to play, dude. need I got Denshin Tech. This fucking guy with High Guard, dude. This fucking guy with High Guard.

Speaker: Just lock dude. Remember when Resident Evil came out? Devin, what we're going to do... I was like, Sam, I was like, I know we have a fucking like fresh baby. fresh but like i i'll say I have to get this done. Like, like, I'm not to have time to to play it like, you know, here and there.

Speaker: i was I got to lock myself in the room and like beat it. You're like, do you want me to be distracted for a month or do you want me to be distracted for a day? um yeah that I mean, that's how you can sell it, too, you know? Well, here's the thing. once you When you had that baby, Resident Evil Requiem came into your room in the middle of the night and said, do you want a game? Yes!

Speaker: Yes! Actually, Sam and Owen were like watching me play a little bit. they were like getting or Sam was getting into the story. It was a very entertaining game to watch. And then a couple months later, she like referred to Grace as Claire, and I was like, ah, you're a bad guy. She was like, what about Claire? And I was like, what about her? I was like, you've never seen Claire. Yeah. What if she's like, no, no. Resident Evil. I'm like, I was like, yeah, which Resident Evil? She's like, Resident Evil 9. I like, she's not in that game, dude. She was like, yes, she is. She's the one with the mom. I'm like, Yeah, well was like what is she you know reversing no, I taught I'm talking about code V the the upcoming Resident Evil like then i be like i a fucking odd code v Oh a man god, you're giving her no room, huh? No, yeah I do the same thing. She I do the same thing We refer to she was talking about the casting of I forget the name right if for the Harry Potter show it was Nicholas Holt.

Speaker: Yeah, and then they changed it to Somebody else She's like, man, Nicholas Holt was cast as Zonesa. I'm like, oh, yeah, that's like the guy from Slytherin. And she's like, what? I'm like, yeah, he's like the professor from Slytherin.

Speaker: Oh, Gilderoy Lockhart. i was just fucking with her dolls. And she's just got mad. But maybe she's done' doing the same thing with me with Resident Evil. Maybe, yeah.

Speaker: She's triggering you. She's, you know, reversing me. Speaking of UNO, did you guys hear UNO World Championships? I'm kind of... I thought you were like, I'm kind of in it. Think about it. Did you guys see that? in top eight. No, I haven't seen anything.

Speaker: There's the championship belt. Yeah, there's a belt. There's a $50,000 prize. Like, you can... um I think it's Orlando, Chicago, and... It's like one weekend after the other. I think it's like Orlando. There's three cities that they're doing it in. But there's also... You would qualify for the world championship on the on the app, too.

Speaker: So i'm gonna I might try to fucking sweat it up. But I was playing it, and I'm like there's no like, this is so random. like There's no strategy at all. like You would just have to get lucky. You know?

Speaker: I don't know. Yeah, you know who say that? The people who's not in the top five.

Speaker: say oh oh it's a luck game. Download the app right now. Download the app and play a game real quick. But you know what i want to talk about? what I should be talking about. ah I saw a little movie. she saw i saw I sat down. Actually, I did some work, dude, but I watched on my phone. No, I saw ah Coyote vs. Acme this weekend. and Oh. definitely wanted to see that, but yeah prior engagements. Yeah. What did have to do?

Speaker: chris what what was your prior engagements my mother's birthday oh well that's that's more important is it is it no it was really yeah wait what was better good well what what what did you do for your mother's birthday oh there yeah it was way better than chinese food dude oh way fucking better dude no i'm But yeah but devs Devin's a picky eater. Oh, actually, What did you order?

Speaker: Chris, what did you order at the Chinese place? I got pineapple fried rice with shrimp. Oh, that sounds nice. I got some spring rolls. It was delicious. You know, I had a quick sidebar. I hadda i had a borderline meltdown at ah at a Chinese restaurant.

Speaker: I was getting dim sum. And I just like almost freaked out. It was just so fucking messy. Just everything, nothing I could do could alleviate the messiness of the soup dumplings.

Speaker: And then i was like, oh, and so we, You're supposed to put the whole thing in your No, you're not. No, not at all. So the problem, though, is we were trying to get it out of the little steam box thing. That's savage mode. That's eating from the whole fucking thing in there. You gotta eat it like how you eat sushi. You know, John, to be perfectly honest with you, though, that would have been...

Speaker: preferable because I just... Every time I try... We just try to get it out of the little bamboo thing. it just It just ripped. And it just got juice everywhere.

Speaker: And then... i will um i will be And then I was just kidding i was just getting... and it's like and you was it yeah And you wasted all the soup. Guys, if I'm going to give you ah ah a soup dumpling recommendation, there's a place in Cherry Hill. I've got look up the name of it.

Speaker: Genuinely changed my whole opinion. I like it, right? yeah Where's it at? ah It's right near the Barnes & Noble. near the cheese is it like that Nat Chang? ah My mom like loves that place.

Speaker: oh not I'm not Chinese. Let me look it i just really like that you have that oh but and just in case you were worried yeah yeah it is it is that place john uh non-jang zhou yeah was i wrong you know what man you must be chinese because you nailed that i must i must have i must have some colonized chinese blood in my who doesn't like spanish we've all taken 23 meat but point is i like no I know what you mean. like When they like you try to take off the thing and they rip it. Jenny's watching me get like more and more frustrated. And so and then we also got like some some fried dumplings.

Speaker: And this is a problem I have with most Asian restaurants. At least this is... Whoa, whoa. Yeah, dude, you've got to make sure. No, no, no, no, no. no This is the problem I have with both yeah Asian restaurants is they give you they'll just give you fucking random plates of black sauce and then they don't explain it.

Speaker: And you're like, well, what the fuck is this? And you're just you assume. And so I took I took the one fried dumpling and I tried to dip it and then it just like disintegrated once it got to my plate.

Speaker: And it just all the shit fell out. And I was like, and then I took another fried dumpling and it just fell off my thing and just made a splash into the other thing. And Jenny's like, are you okay? And I'm like, I'm about i'm shaking.

Speaker: And then I was you know, I'm fucking done. I'm just not going to eat. Like, i'm I'm good. I had i had four dumplings. God, what a baby. No, no, but dude. Such a baby. Just. Just. I was fucking serious. I hate this.

Speaker: I was having a tantrum. No, no. But just to prove my fucking point, though, is Jenny's like, I'm going to eat the last one. She fucking bites into it. It literally pokes a hole on the other end and squirts juice all over the fucking table and hits me.

Speaker: And I was like, I'm going to fucking throw a stick, dude. I was like, are you fucking... oh my Because I was like, Jenny, this is so fucking... disgust It's like dis disgusting, dude. I was like...

Speaker: well you know what dev maybe you guys shouldn't go to wendy's for shoot but don'ling you know not no and you You know what the real you know, the real fucking kicker is she's always like this why I love the city because you can just go you can get some quality shit anywhere you get the fucking the city of the city of this I was like this is fucking dog shit.

Speaker: was like we just got dog shit dumplings that just squirt juice everywhere and none of it made it into our fucking bodies like like Yeah, we yeah that's but the fucking problem is, dude, is like you go to one place, and I hate to say it, and I'm definitely being ignorant here, but you go to one fucking place, you kind of go to all of them in China. like I don't have that ability to distinguish what's good and what's not when it's there's 10 dumpling spots every fucking street.

Speaker: Devin, let me ask you something. do you per Do you not like sloppy? I'm starting to think that is the case. But no, no, no. You know, I don't like i don't like sloppy foods you that you need to eat with like three different. need Oh, you need the chopsticks. Then you need a little soup spoon. And then you need this. It's like if it's fucking sloppy. All right. All right. I'm going to give you going give you a list. I'm going give you a little list.

Speaker: All right. All right. First off, the the classic. No, I don't like that. Okay, so what you you were listing that as the most... i Dude, dude this dumpling this dumpling thing was so fucking gross.

Speaker: You would list this over? What about like ribs, Devin? ri lips the sloppy Ribs are sloppy. Wings are sloppy. No, no, no. no so So the problem, though, is like you can eat those with your hands so they're not hot and sloppy.

Speaker: ah Soup dumpling is like hot and... messy It's most of it. Let me look up a video. on sure Let me me just clarify. You would list the soup dumpling over the sloppy Joe. I think a poorly constructed soup dumpling is worse than a sloppy Joe.

Speaker: Because also, it's not implied to be sloppy. You know what I'm saying? as It's not implied to be sloppy. A sloppy Joe, it's in the fucking name. You know what you're getting into? So a lot of the surprise is like, you got to be, you got to When was the last time you had a sloppy show? I'm not going lie.

Speaker: Well, okay. i'm um'm a chain I got another one. I got another one. Have you ever had chicken Kia? Not on purpose. Not on purpose. anti Fancy place. Oh. Where they like there's so much butter. Yeah, I don't like that. I've had that in the past. I do not like it.

Speaker: Yeah. Mm-hmm. So or would you you where would you... That's under sloppy Joe, for sure. Because that's implied... Like, you need a knife and fork for that.

Speaker: Crab legs. Not that sloppy. Messy, but not... I wouldn't say sloppy, no. They leave us. Yeah, like, there are some things that are implied. Like, it's... Yeah, you know what you're getting into. I don't... I wasn't expecting to need, like, fucking 20 napkins and a bib to eat dumplings. You know what I mean? Like...

Speaker: There is a difference. Crab? They have bids. They have fucking bids for that. You know what, Chris? i guess I guess we're not taking Devin to the seafood boil place. No, no, no. I'd go to the seafood boil. I just wouldn't go to the dumpling boil. I'd be like, this is ridiculous.

Speaker: You know what? Makes sense to me while people are giving you so much pizza. No, you know what? I did go on a mini rant. i was like, you know what's great? You fucking use your hands and you just eat it like a normal fucking person.

Speaker: And Jenny's like, you know, a lot of that's probably just because of the Americanization of it. Like, you're supposed to just get it and go, right? Just eat it with your hands and fucking fuck off because you got to go to work. You got to do shit.

Speaker: i was like, there's something to that, I think. But... I was just like, dude, it was like literally, to get back on topic, it was like 30 minutes before the movie. And I'm shaking with rage because this the every fucking dumpling I'm trying to eat has turned into a sloppy mess.

Speaker: It was a sloppy steak situation.

Speaker: The movie was great. sir The movie was wonderful. I love the movie. You might have get soup dumplings in New York. There's a couple. No, I don't need 15 different. I don't need. Dude, I think John's going to try and spite dumpling you now. Well, i would I'm curious now to see. i would yeah So the best part about the dumpling, right, is ah once the once the outer bag rips, it's the same gray mash of meat blob.

Speaker: Doesn't matter if it's shrimp. Doesn't matter if it's pork. Doesn't matter if it's chicken. It's all the same color. Guys, I'm leaning towards human error here. Nah, dog. It was not me. was not me. That's where I'm leaning. I've had dumplings before they were never that disgusting.

Speaker: up your i was by the fucks ah yeah I was about to fuck somebody up, dude. was... You what? I'm just not going to eat anymore. I'm never going to eat again. I had four dumplings and i was like, that's it. I'm good. I'm fucking good. I'm having...

Speaker: had a na I'm just never eating ever again. i just get this morning yeah done I'm just done. I'm just done eating, Jenny. done i'm never i mean I'm not to deny me I basically rake-quit food. I'm just going to slurp Soylent from a straw. the rest dude She really doesn't want she doesn't appreciate that I i really liked Soylent.

Speaker: was like, I miss it. It was so convenient. I don't appreciate It was so nice. I just drank it and that was it. My ass. Food is an artistic and spiritual experience. Dude, honestly, so sometimes yeah sometimes I just want to. eat Other times, I just... Kyrie vs. Action was great. um It was far more heartfelt than I was expecting.

Speaker: ah It was kind of... Did you cry? No, but I did get like... There's a moment, dude dude, there's a moment. There's two moments. There's one that you kind of expect in every type of movie, right?

Speaker: It's like the moment where you're supposed to be sad. And then there's another moment where you're like, God damn. This would have, if I was like in a specific point in my life, this would have got me.

Speaker: You know? i don't know. There's just something. There's a really sweet moment near the end of the movie. um And that being said... I would say Foghorn and Leghorn, for my money, is officially up for villain of the year in this movie.

Speaker: He's a piece of shit. He's a piece of shit. Who else is up for? You know, Professor Gideon from RE9. Foghorn Leghorn. up there.

Speaker: um No, but dude, fa so Foghorn Leghorn basically plays... like the the Walmart CEO in this movie, right? but so So the concept, for those of you who just do not know, is Wile E. Coyote for years and years and years has tried to catch the roadrunner utilizing Acme products that just always go wrong.

Speaker: And then he just has a bad day at the office and he catches a commercial where it's Will Forte. And he's like, he's just, he's, he's one of those lawyers who settles. He's like, oh, you're a cartoon who had a bad Acme product, you know, sign this, you know, we'll get you 300 bucks and we'll settle.

Speaker: I'll get you out the door. And Coyote's like, and Coyote does not speak. He just does the signs to great effect.

Speaker: Sorry about that. ah Yeah, to to wonderful effect. You know, he that's how he kind of communicates the entire movie. But he's like, no, ah I don't just have one Acme product. And he just like pulls out every Acme product that they've ever bought.

Speaker: And he essentially just files like the largest lawsuit Acme's ever had. John Cena plays the hotshot Acme lawyer. But Foghorn Leghorn plays like the boss, right? And you find out stuff at the you know throughout the movie as to why these Acme products work the way they work.

Speaker: ah Because Acme is not only you know for cartoons, but Acmes make your phones. They make cars. They they do everything, right? ah it's It's just everything. You can get an Acme brand, whatever.

Speaker: Exactly. But Foghorn Leghorn, just there's a scene where he's in a courtroom and he just admits to everything. And he's like, but it doesn't matter. Because we make your lives better.

Speaker: And who gives a shit? you know And you're like, what a piece of shit, dude. What a sack of trash Foghorn Leghorn is. That's It's really, really good.

Speaker: yeah and it's so Devin, I have a very yeah immediate question to ask because there are two films that I can think of that that that immediately come to mind when it comes to live action animated interaction.

Speaker: That's what I'm going to call this. Those two movies being okay Frame Roger Rabbit, which i feel like is the gold star. Oh, 100%. And then, you know, the ugly cousin of world and We're definitely we' in the middle. We're in the middle.

Speaker: I would say, man, because I'm not going to lie. There are some moments where you're like, This feels a little budgy, like budget, like you're feeling the budget a little bit just because like it's not as high budget as like a Space Jam, like a Michael Jordan Space Jam where it's like there's just that money sheen on everything.

Speaker: There is that to an extent, but it's it's there's some so there's some bits where you're like, I don't think... like Like, Foghorn Leghorn as a... Not a CG character, but an animated character.

Speaker: But you're also not supposed to see them at that dimension. You know? You're not supposed to see them in that angle and they look a little funky. But... Are they kind of doing the Chip and Dale's Rangers movie thing? Sure, but like there is no CG. like There's no, like, oh, just Wile E. Coyote is fully computer. Not in that sense, right? But it's just there are some sequences. like It's almost kind of like... Remember like a cel-shaded game where every once a while you look at the character and you're like, they look a little rounded in areas where they just kind of shouldn't. They just look a little funky. there's sumed like I'd say like 4% of the movie has that love.

Speaker: But by and large... It's like when you look at that moose head on. No, exactly. like you're There's just sometimes you're not designed to see the character at that angle. And you're like, oh, okay. And they do some interesting camera pans where you're like, all right okay, i guess we're just seeing like slightly off center, you know, Daffy Duck. Okay, that's pretty cool.

Speaker: ah But no, man, that this movie, it's got heart. It makes you, if you know anything about the history of like this movie and what I mean by that is this movie was made like two or three years ago.

Speaker: ah David Zaslav, who is pretty much almost like a cartoon character version, villain version of a CEO. aka yeah yeah basic Yeah, pretty much.

Speaker: ah Where he basically was just canceling all these movies. This was among you know one of them. And the only thing that kind of saved this was behind the scenes footage started dropping. And everybody said, man, this looks good.

Speaker: What are they doing? And then more than more rumors start and they go, dude, not only does it look cool, this movie is fucking good. like It's crazy that they're doing this. And then Warnert basically tried to highball everyone that says, well, if you want to distribute it, it's going to be this much. And of course, it took forever for some, you know, for company to finally do it.

Speaker: And, you know, two years later, we get this movie and it's kind of one of those like, I cannot, I am, I cannot believe Warner Brothers tried to bury this for tax reasons. It's, it's infuriating, to be honest. But without that, without that, it's still like a really solid movie.

Speaker: And it's just like, And it kind of the movie meta-textually Court the Beach. Oh, yeah. And and and it does... it big And it does the thing that I don't think Looney Tunes do that often.

Speaker: Muppets movies do this, but it's not like, oh, it's Bugs Bunny. It's just like, oh, this is a character that just is Bugs Bunny. Like, no one's aware that Bugs Bunny exists in this. No one's aware that Donald Duck or Wile E. Coyote, they're not like, oh, you're the guy who's fucking from the thing. They're just like, oh, no, this is the character and he just plays a role in the movie.

Speaker: And I think that works to great effect. And John Cena is quite goodness. So I give it. I heard he's a perfect addition to the Looney Tune. Yeah, considering he looks like a Looney Tune in some sort, in some form or fashion. Because his dimensions are insane. Because he's just a wide dude, dude. There's just no other way to...

Speaker: No, no, he really does. So I would give this gosh.

Speaker: Man, I really want to say this is a real person. This is a personal Mary. and think it's personal Mary. Yeah. Well, it's not like it's not like, you know, married until you die. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. Roger Rabbit, which is like we grow. We grew old and died together. But You know, this ah is a marriage is a personal marriage for me, for sure.

Speaker: I'm shocked. I'm very excited to see this. I think this is a wonderful film. yeah The floor for this is a good scene. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's.

Speaker: Absolutely. um I like to sit in a chair when I see the movie. but know Steve, not on the floor when he's watching. I also saw, basically because people just kept talking about it, and I was like, I got i guess I got to watch it.

Speaker: um I saw Batman Nightfall Part 1, the animated movie. And, um yeah, I don't know. People just kept talking about how good this was.

Speaker: And I think they were only saying that because of how shockingly violent the first 12 minutes are. And it's been a minute since I read Nightfall. But all this really showcases is i'm like, damn, was the plot really that thin? Like, this a thin plot.

Speaker: There's not a lot going on. And there was one set piece that just should have been in there. And I don't know if they're saving it for the I think this is a three parter, right? It's like part one, part two, part three.

Speaker: So part one ends with Batman, you know, getting his back broken. spoilers, I guess. um But it's it's fine. It was fine. was just a little annoyed that people were like, oh, you got a sheet. It's so good. And it's like it's good because it's like over the top violent. And when you see the better version and yeah, I mean, like, the Nightfall story is dope, right? It just is. I've always thought it was cool. It's good. But it's just like, oh, John Paul's this character, and, like, the movie does absolutely no lifting in terms of explaining who this guy is. They're just like, here he is.

Speaker: do Deal with it. I'm like, all right. There was really not a there was a really amount of an a lot of explanation. I know, but you you know sometimes in in the best scenarios, like under the Red Hood, that's a great companion to the comic because that adds context and it makes it better.

Speaker: Where this is like, this is like right I don't know, he fucking cuts people's heads off and like that's sick, right? And you're like, I guess, i yeah, sure sure sure. And maybe maybe my my old fogey is showing, but I just...

Speaker: It's weird that people like what seems like a level of quality for these DC movies has lately just been like, oh, these are like hyper violent, like invincible level violent.

Speaker: And I'm like, don't that's like. Is that what that is now? So it's like, oh, these DC animated movies are so good. Why? Because there's blood and guts. And you're like, all right, I guess they're ah Yeah, I don't know. it's like But the comics said were great without that.

Speaker: So, like, why rock it and It's wild where it's like... There's a contingent of people who will see that and be like, oh, it's it's gory, it's rough, it's extreme. And then what DC is also doing in other parts, they'll be like, wow, this is so dope. And you're like, what are you talking about? That's the mature stuff. You're given the mature stuff and you can't handle it. I don't know, man. um It was fine. It was definitely one of those like,

Speaker: I should just waited until they were all out. Because it wasn't... Oh, you got to animate. There's going to three. Just like in the traditional structure...

Speaker: How could they pop? Yeah, yeah. Is that the traditional? I thought it would be. No, no. So how it goes is it's Bane shows up. Bane breaks everybody out of Arkham.

Speaker: Batman runs himself ragged and he gets his back broken. The second one is Jean-Paul taking – yeah, he's taking over. And then by the end of that, he beats – he's in the fucking sick 90s mecha outfit.

Speaker: fuck yeah Yeah, it's Nightfall, Nightquest. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, he fucks up Mane, and then you realize he's, like, taking it a little too far. And then the third one is Batman's doing, he's doing sit-ups with a broken back, and then he beats, you know, he takes the mantle back.

Speaker: So, real yeah. um Tim's great. Tim's actually, man, somebody... that's like That's my era of comics. that that Man, who does? Somebody actually... vo like I was like, oh, that guy. like I think it was a was a notable name. Let me see if I can pull it up.

Speaker: Yeah, probably. pasca Definitely, actually. ah Josh Brolin. Jack Giffen, who has done...

Speaker: I feel like he's done other anime to work, but you know, never mind. He was in Hemlock Grove. ah He's good. He's good. he's ah He plays one of the kids in The Long Walk, which doesn't explain anything for anybody. What

Speaker: you you what would you give this as a review? like what would you give it m as It's a fuck. it's just It sounds like you're telling us. to wait until this ah Wait until at least the second one because the the Nightfall Batman outfit is truly one of my favorite Batman costumes of all time.

Speaker: Like the abslon the As... Yeah, the Jean-Paul Valley fucking mech Batman suit is... Dude, come on. It was... Dash your Scarlet Spider. Dude, it's like 90s in the best way.

Speaker: it's Yeah. it's it was I always liked it. And I was always like, oh, man, is Bruce Wayne going to use this? I think it's a hat on a hat. du the The fucking claws that shoot batarangs, I was like, that's way cooler than throwing them.

Speaker: yeah Yeah, the little discs. Yeah, it's... Yeah. That's the 90s. It really is. Yeah, I think it's one of the coolest things that's ever existed. Of all time.

Speaker: Fuck you, Chris. um Yeah, but I would say, man, at least wait for that one. And I think these are coming out at a pretty good clip, to be honest. like I think the next one's playing in like a month or two.

Speaker: So that's good. But ah yeah. and And then also I saw... um I watched Jackass, the the last Jackass movie, which is fine. you know there's There's probably one...

Speaker: really good bit um where I was like kind of laughing and gagging at the same time. And it's kind of jackass in general, right? It's like there's just the humor isn't necessarily smart. It's just like primordial funny.

Speaker: It's like you fell down and hit your hit your head and all your friends laugh type of comedy, which is fucking amazing, right? um But... I think what really does hurt it, which is why I don't think a lot of people saw this, why I didn't go to theater and see it, is because it's it's partially a clip show with old clips. you know It's kind of like their favorite ones from the other movies, too.

Speaker: Yeah, finding finding that out was a huge detriment. Now, there are some things where there's old stuff that they were like never allowed to show. like at least um So like they show the well they show like the first the lost the first Johnny Knoxville skit where he shoots himself with a gun, ah where he's wearing the vest. He's wearing a bulletproof vest.

Speaker: And he's got hustler magazines under his book under his this is bulletproof vest. And the funny part is, is like they're like, dude, this is fucked up. like Don't do it. And he pulls the trigger and then he he put them it's ah it's a revolver and he puts it in the wrong chamber. So he has to go all the way through.

Speaker: So he's like, click, click. Oh, fuck. Click. And then he shoots himself. And, you know. That stuff, ah there's one where he just put himself in a cardboard box. I think just threw like four pillows in it.

Speaker: And they just threw him down a flight of stairs. And it's so gnarly looking. um And they're like, they literally are like, dude, you can't. We can't air this.

Speaker: Like, it's too easy to replicate. Like, kids will really fuck themselves up. um But yeah. And, you know, there's a few new ones that I think are truly like, great in in that kind of jackass way.

Speaker: But yeah, and then um then I too watched Lanterns. I too caught up on that. But wait no no but you know before that.

Speaker: Still talking about movies. I got a movie. i got movie I watched the movie too. I watched Disclosure Day. I heard weird things about this one.

Speaker: Can you confirm? I just heard it's like, it's it's um

Speaker: not not disjointed, but people were like, people were torn because they're like, this is either really great. This is either really bad or it's, you just didn't get it and it's actually really good.

Speaker: It's kind of what I've heard. i don't It was a movie too big for little minds. I think it's neither. I think it's very much neither. um I do think it's one of Spielberg's more... Wow. i' See, I heard the opposite, just based off of...

Speaker: You know, how much she likes aliens. there' is a more cynical More cynical than like Saving Private Ryan. and Well, it's cynical towards humanity. Oh, I see. You know, like what we're capable Right. Oh, I see. And like what is going on currently in our in our world.

Speaker: And yeah, like we're we're we're a fucking mess. And it's very much apparent in every scene in that movie, like the entire film's premise hinges on the fact that humanity is not ready to know, you know, like that is very much a big part of the film. And and in this film's reality, there is like very much, there's like a a thing going on that's terrible.

Speaker: is it Is it the Trump presidency? Is that the terrible thing? It's basically you like a... It's World War. World War III. There is a serious event occurring and it's it's the tension is building. and and The cool thing is that is all very much marginalized because the plot of the movie is about aliens, of course.

Speaker: And the two characters that are... you know, in the beginning, you, they don't have any type of connection, but as the film starts to progress, you start to see this, this connection form.

Speaker: And I thought it was very interesting. I thought there's a lot of scenes in it where they're building something and you're like, what, what's going on? Why are they building this thing?

Speaker: And you find out, and it's a very interesting concept in general. Um, I'm not saying like it's as cynical as Spielberg can ever get. That's kind of where I'm at.

Speaker: Like he, i think St. Brian and Schindler's list are of course a lot darker, but I think this is purely cynical on, on a, on a scale that we can't save ourselves kind of thing, you know?

Speaker: And there is a, um, There is sort of a reveal at the end that that is very much... um it's pulled from It's pulled from a very famous piece of media.

Speaker: And I don't want to give that away if you want to watch this. But it's very much apparent where what I'm talking about. So when you see it plagiarism type thing or an homage? It's very much...

Speaker: Should I just say it Do you think it's going to ruin it never watch if you say what it is? don't know. Yeah, I kind of do. can text on John. You can text John.

Speaker: Yeah, I'll message John. Yeah, message it to me right now so I can live that. Oh. um Oh my God! yeah yeah He didn't send it yet. Good Lord! As soon as I text this, John will understand what I'm saying. Yeah, let me see. Let me see.

Speaker: text it to me. Oh, you messaged on this one. Yes, I did. see So as soon as I say that and ah it's ah right where it's it's oh John now you got to text me because now I'm too curious.

Speaker: yeah know We all need to get messages. It's not necessarily... um I wouldn't say it's exactly like that, John, but it's very much that. It's like, it's the same, like... Yeah, it's like, yeah, I see what you mean. It's not the exact thing, but it's like, yeah, this is, you know, this is what humanity has to do. So we need that to, you know... So, yeah, it's... um it's yeah that that I feel like it is a little ripped off. I feel like some of the dialogue is a little dated too. I think it's it's written by a 60-year-old man.

Speaker: I think David Cullen. I know, Devin. I agree.

Speaker: um Who is this guy? damn yeah He's an old sixty three year old man yeah it there's a There's a lot of technology in this um that is very much like it's very silly.

Speaker: why So how would you compare this to like, I don't know. The Ice Cube, War of the Worlds. and This is way better. i you think it's slightly underrated.

Speaker: you know i i think it's... I think i i would put this in the good sit. Okay. Wow. Dude, that was that was a real curveball. because that That felt just like 20 minutes of shitting on And you're like, oh, Mary! I...

Speaker: i I'm pointing out all of the flaws, and i'm now I'm pointing out what i what I really enjoyed about it. I like the thriller aspect of the film. I thought it was incredibly engaging that they added all these little pieces, because it's like a puzzle the movie, and you're trying to put everything together, and as it's progressing, you start to see where everything is going.

Speaker: And the ending, I feel like, is very... It is hopeful. But it's hopeful, I think, in a regards of... There's like, we needed an outside person to help.

Speaker: And that, it's just like, that's where we're at right now. That's what Steven Spielberg thinks about humanity. So that's, I agree to some degree. I agree that's that's true.

Speaker: um I liked Emily Blunt in this too. I like Josh. Isn't she good in everything she does? She really is. She's great in this. I really like Josh O'Connor, I think his name is.

Speaker: Josh O'Connor. The guy that was in the 9th hour. He was in the tennis movie too.

Speaker: Yes. Challengers? Yes. He was ice. He was ice. He was the tall guy who was sleeping in his car with the big ears. Right.

Speaker: um Yeah, did he make out with his best friend in this one?

Speaker: Yeah. Did Cyclops and Wolverine make out with each other? Oh, man. Really? Oh, no. I really like Colin Firth as the villain, too. he's he's know he play He plays the alien.

Speaker: He plays a human being. The worst kind of alien. that's what makes him so Yeah, exactly. um Yeah, they definitely lay on a lot of that stuff pretty thick. But like I said, this is also um a really well shot. Yeah, it's like, I feel like Spielberg just...

Speaker: His worst is still pretty pretty above average. His tools are are getting sharper, it seems. like ah there's There's a wonder in this. that's just It's just wonderful.

Speaker: it's so well done and emily blunt is like the focus of it and it's just it's great i loved every minute of it uh wyatt russell also turns up in this um as uh us agent emily blu oh elliot get it and he he has a role oh yeah get it too um and then uh colman domingo chris smash is also in this Smash?

Speaker: Did he smash it? No, no. It's very non-sexual. That's a lot of spiel. That's a spiel. That dude, like, West Side Story with zero sex appeal is is the Steven Spielberg version.

Speaker: I mean, there's a whole section of this movie that takes place in a fucking nunnery. Nah, dog. I'm a freak bro. What are you talking about?

Speaker: Anyway. Yeah, I don't i think it would this was underrated. I think it's a a decent, interesting film to watch. decent sit. Yeah, it's good sit.

Speaker: i would I would recommend it. nice Nice. Anybody else watch any Kino?

Speaker: Did I watch any movies? I watched Gnomeo and Juliet.

Speaker: but I am doing a... Hold on. Now hold your horses. Now hold your horses. That was a i have been doing i haveve been doing a ah a bad... Or not bad, but I should say I've been doing a 2000s CG 3D animated movie rundown tier list.

Speaker: i've been putting them all in tier lists, and I have watched... Tens of these movies now. Tens of these. Tens of these. I'm working my way through. I do. I it?

Speaker: Right now, I'll show you what I have. I have currently in the log. I'll put in shit talk. that pregnant pause that Chris gave was out late. He was like, did you lose a fucking bet? Even didn't know. don't even know where to go with that because it's a part of a project. Yeah, I obviously, I don't think this is work. It's not like you just won't. See, the problem I'll just wake up and do shit like this, but obviously, there's a goal for you.

Speaker: um But we've been we've been having a good time watching some of these. so Others, not so much. What's that on the end of Barnyard? That's Hoodwinked. That's probably the worst animated movie I've ever seen. It looks like a PS2 graphics like game.

Speaker: It's terrible. You were Hoodwinked. Hoodwinked by Hoodwinked. And you know what the fucking shitty thing about it is? It's Rashomon. Rashomon. They stole a plot of Rashomon and turned it into heckin' like fantasy fables and stuff. But is it like the Rashomon effect or is it actually like... It's basically you are being told a crime from different perspectives of characters and they all tell you their day and how they ended up where they were. All right. You know, listen, ah It's terrible. It's terrible. I'm going to go from the bottom go all the way up to the top.

Speaker: I see you have Shrek, number one. That's that's an easy number one. I would say i feel like you are hurting your relationship with Chris with Cars being on the top tier as well.

Speaker: people To be fair, in comparison to a Cars is a good movie. I don't think there's a single other Pixar movie. The thing it, though, we're trying to avoid Pixar because, you know, the Pixar bar is usually so high. i had just never seen like,

Speaker: And in comparison to a lot of the other movies on this list, when you kind of like scale it, you go like, oh yeah, of course Cars would be like S tier in comparison to like Chicken Little. Yeah, that's what I mean. I understand that compared to... like You have robots in Better Than I expected. So I assume Cars would be a little higher than that because it's a Pixar sheen to it. I'll be honest.

Speaker: I'm shocked by Madagascar's low rankings. Yeah, that is kind shocking. We recently re-watched Madagascar. That movie is a boring piece of shit.

Speaker: It is a boring piece of shit. And you have Monster House. Isn't that written by, um what's his name? um The guy who does Community? Oh, let me look that up. i will say Monster House is pretty boring. lawyer i did I did see that. and I was like, eh. Yeah, Dan Harmon, you're right. Dan Harmon wrote that. you really Yeah, that wasn't good, huh? Uh, there's like a few like little silly scenes that were enjoyable, but like, that's the reason why they're above the so much worse tier, which is like B movie open season where it's like a bear wants to fuck a lady. Um, barnyard like, oh, to keep in mind. Okay. So open season and B movie, both about CG animals that want to fuck a lady, like a human woman. Doesn't open season have that weird trailer where they copied that scene from the assassination of Jesse James? You you know what?

Speaker: Is that open season? I don't think that was open season because I think that was the Yogi Bear movie. Thank you, John. that But you're right. You're right about that. No, no. but well' you see I can't get over the fact that Barnyard is like five titles length wide. Why is Barnyard so big, I know.

Speaker: And he's riding the Harley. I got title cover alone. That's got to be in the better than expected. um there's There's a couple of good jokes in Barnard. You got Surf's up over Cars?

Speaker: Here's the thing. I recently watched Surf's Up. I've never seen it before. I didn't expect it. I didn't realize it was mockumentary. I didn't realize that. like You're a sucker for that. Yeah, like they're they're doing those little like cutaway interviews. Keep in mind, this is 2006, too, and like the water in that movie looks so really good. This is...

Speaker: I had just watched Barnyard before that too. so like, so Harrison, so Paul, I was like, that's a math. I'm trying to, write so it's, it's 2000 to 2010.

Speaker: ah we kind of broke recently out of that with Gnomeo and Juliette. which is 2011, but it was close enough. Better than expected. ah Better than expected. Genuinely better than than expected. It's Romeo and Juliet, just with gnomes. You have finished pussy above gnomes? Flushed away. I can't read that title.

Speaker: Flushed away. Also known as finished pussy, yes. It's the working title. that was That's the same company that does the Wallace and Gromit movies, so it's very charming. They got that sheen on it. and i'm I'm very...

Speaker: um very I really liked Over the Hedge. I'm very curious where you're going to fall with Happy Feet because that's George Miller. That is George Miller. I'd never seen it. Never seen it. I've only eleven new york for i've seen Megamind, but we're just excited to like rewatch Megamind. Yeah, I remember laughing. Yeah, Megamind wasn't wasn't bad watch. yeah I need to remember more of these movies, though, because like I'm trying to like fill this out as much as I can. The the non-Pixar list of... The non-Pixar. and Because like the thing is, you know that... I've heard good things about Tangled. Tangled's solid. Tangled's good. Good stuff.

Speaker: Tangled is like that's not I wouldn't put that in this tier. No, that's... No. See, Chris gets it. like Chris definitely gets like the the yeah style of like the you're trying to watch. A Disney Sea is kind of what I would call these.

Speaker: Yeah. the The DVDs you would always see. The $5 bin Walmart. Yeah. at walmart ah yeah God, um I cannot believe you fucking said, yeah, let's watch Barnyard. And then you fucking did it. dude You know what?

Speaker: Here's the thing. Barnyard was our Domino's pizza night. We both ordered Domino's pizza and we both watched Barnyard. What'd you get on your Domino's pizza? I just got pepperoni. I just got pepperoni. didn't get a cow?

Speaker: some What did she get? She got regular? We both got pepperoni. We both got pepperoni. So we we were getting the same pizza, watched some barnyard, and we both went, this is hideous.

Speaker: And then we watched Hoodwink, and we went, wow, barnyard looks a million times better than this. Did you watch Hoodwink right after Barnyard? No. Are these like kind of like weekly, weekly flicks?

Speaker: So the way we do it is we usually watch two and we'll watch like a one that we know is probably going to be shit and one that we know is probably going to be good. So like we watched Barnyard and then we watched Surf's Up. um We watched Hoodwinked and then we had to stop because it was so. No, we watched Hoodwinked and then we watched Madagascar.

Speaker: So that was like kind of like a double. Can I convince you to put the movie nine on this list?

Speaker: because no what I forgot as a fan as a movie I forget exists good every I have to remind myself that movie exists every five years I remember seeing that with you and we walked out of that saying that was the most five rated movie because the trailer is so good and you're like this is going to be intense yeah and I was like had the complete in Cambria like in like music I'm kind of shocked you don't have ants on here somewhere We're probably going to have to put ants on here at some point. You're right. Because that's like... Yeah, because you... Wait, which one did you say was Rashomon?

Speaker: Rashomon was Hoodwinked. that is Okay, and that one, what where did that land? That is the lowest rated movie right now. It's at the back of so much Because remember, A Bug's Life is just Seven Samurai.

Speaker: You're right. You know what? You're right. Bug's Life, though, is like good for Dude, you got watch. Yeah, it's a good product. Oh, never mind. You know what? Dude, you should watch this little movie called ah Spirited Away.

Speaker: you know what? And then yeah then Steve puts it in better than expected, and then I have to fist fight you. You know what? It wasn't the worst. What if he was he expected it to be amazing? It better than amazing.

Speaker: What about... a tv on your no movies pony You know what I watched Ponyo. I liked Ponyo, but i like I know it's not going to be everybody's cup of tea. The one that I loved was ah was that Howl's Moving Castle. That movie's phenomenal.

Speaker: I love that. That's an incredible movie. I'm not big Ponyo and Neighbor Totoro guy. Yeah, and My Neighbor Totoro is such a disappointment for me personally. Totoro is awesome, dude. it's like a All right, Steve, you got watch Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Brother Bear.

Speaker: think that's... You know did watch Brother Bear. I have seen Brother Bear. See, that's the thing. It's not Brother Bear is not Brother Bear is a hand animated movie. No, Brother Bear. That's a wonderful movie, though, Devin. I did not expect to like that as much as I did.

Speaker: This is Is your era? it's The era is the 2000s because it's the window of time where like I was just pretty much just like, it's Pixar. No, that's always fun, right? You're like, there's an entire decades-like genre of shit I just ignored, and let's just kind of dive back in.

Speaker: ah What about yeah Corpse Bride? Also, Corpse Bride, the sequel to Surf's Up, by the way, ah is called Wave Mania. It was ah produced by the wwe WWE, and it features The Undertaker.

Speaker: What about a little movie called... Do that one. Do about that one?

Speaker: Dude, that was, I can't remember. Can I tell you? Dude, that movie came out before 9-11. That's crazy. Can I tell you that I was so thirsty for fucking clips of that?

Speaker: I remember like watching clips on Real Player and having to deal with it like, yeah, and having to deal with it like buffer nonstop. um So, Steve, you have to watch that, and then you have to watch Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.

Speaker: um not on No, you don't have to watch it. I thought was like 2005. that No, that's... a yeah i'm not You're actually right. And then you got to play and be Rebirth and then you'll be up to speed.

Speaker: Okay, that's fair. That's fair. You know, I did watch some of the DLSS 5 on Final Fantasy Rebirth recently. You're almost there, yeah. It's terrifying. It's terrifying. It's horrifying. so but i think I think we need to talk about the big dog that happened this week, and and it's in the world of TV.

Speaker: m So we all we all caught up on Lanterns. I told Jenny just yesterday, as like, hey, do you care about Lanterns? She's like, I don't know. I i was like, well, if this is Lanterns is officially like I'm i'm watching this Sunday nights, so you got fucking deal with it.

Speaker: And um that's what I did. That's i did last night. i think i think I think this episode is it was the the episode for me. that the one it's This is the one. This is the fucking one. Outcast, episode three of Lanterns is... i don't know how they top those.

Speaker: I really don't. think That's the thing, though. I've been saying that every episode so far. guess, but this is like... It's like one of the best origin stories I've seen. The key to Jon Stewart this is fantastic. The comic book origin of Jon Stewart.

Speaker: This is so well done. And this is this episode in particular is, of course, wonderful character development. Some of the best I've seen on television all year.

Speaker: For every character, too. For every character. It's not just John. It's his parents. It's his how. The storytelling of it, too, is so cool. Like he's he's literally explaining his life like it's ah it's an interview, like a job interview. And they're cutting back and forth between these moments that define who Jon Stewart is. And it's all cohesive and it's all tying back into itself.

Speaker: And every scene is a mirror of another, the same scene. But, you know, him obviously is an adult and him is a child. It's really, really well crafted. And it's, it's so interesting. And there's so many layers. Yes. Because like, they're not like, they're not glorifying or like, they're not saying that his parents, they're actually saying it. Like the writing is saying his parents were absolutely fucking wrong. absolutely Right. Yeah. And it's kind of using him.

Speaker: And it's really interesting because they kind of like, they kind of lie. They kind of lie to themselves. You can tell they kind of lie to themselves and they lied to ah to John or I guess to, to the guardian, to, um, uh, Liana basically yeah where they're kind of shielding their own. They're kind of coping themselves with all the, uh, racial trauma they've gone through and use that as basically an excuse to, to, you know,

Speaker: to abuse john right and it's really it's really it's a really interesting way to do it's not woke it's not dei whatever the whatever the fuck the whatever those twitter chuds say crowd say like it's actually like kind of like a little bit the opposite and like like kind of puts it in a in ah an interesting perspective of what it's also all based on the fact that his father was put into a green orb in middle of and he just responded naturally to it yes what yeah was that like to me that is so fucking weird and interesting guys i don't want to say it but i was correct i called it on the podcast previously he was gonna

Speaker: i didn't call the rest though i didn't definitely oh you didn't call that his mom was also a huge piece of shit and you're like oh ah here's the thing though here's the thing throughout that entire episode you're waiting for something yeah it was kind of because from what we had seen previously yeah we hadn't seen i mean we just it's a little too real right like maybe she's just this strange because she fucked up yeah fucked up his parent dude that scene where she and locked out he should have yeah he john should have been a serial killer the scene where she is sitting in that room like basically kind of like freaking out because she she realizes she cannot contact the guardians yeah and she is like have i've just been abusing my child for no reason whatsoever right

Speaker: it's so fucked up it's the any eight acting chops i think it did kind of there is a there is a flaw baked into john and it's based on his upbringing like his stubbornness and it's not his it's not his fault it's not his fault like that mission is so interesting which is so interesting perfectly like if he would have took that panic button they would knew he was still alive that situation would it never occurred that guy would have wouldn't have Hal Hal wouldn't have showed up ruined every fucking thing yeah like he always does let's let's be real and and and got away like yeah the series of events because he he he is committed and he knew he he had this this was his mission like oh god damn like and do you think do you think that's why he just eats it

Speaker: Like, he's just like, yeah, whatever. fuck Yes. Because he he realized that well he's like, I can't complain. that that is Yeah. And also it's like, i I think it's fascinating because the guardians, it feels like the guardians are also like down with this experiment of like, yeah, what if we just make a fearless, like do whatever you need to do? ah Because like, let's see. And it kind of feels like this could potentially backfire tremendously because like,

Speaker: There's something about Hal just going, no, i I'm not scared versus like somebody who's like almost genetically engineered to be fearless and brought up to be like psychotically fearless. And it's like, that's not, yeah, like that is, it's really kind of artificial. It's artificially done.

Speaker: But it's also kind of like, it's an interesting like case study for the Guardians too, because like, they they They don't want them to have fear, but then maybe John and maybe this is why the ring passes on him after Hal dies. Because I guess the timeline is that Hal's ring goes to Guy, right? Supposedly. Yeah.

Speaker: So like maybe they realize like, oh, this didn't work. Like we can't have this. The experiment didn't work. Yeah, like like they have to have like they can't just have be completely fearless because then, you know, then they're getting guy gardener and hal jordan yeah i just it's just real it's interesting to me too because it's like uh that the line what is the line that she says uh is it even in space you guys don't think about you we're privileged enough to not know fear well there's that but no it was like like how's how's too privileged to his whole life to know what fear is right that's kind of really what would what what made it choose him but it's like

Speaker: It's also not true in the context of the story because the ring chose John Sr. first, right right? Well, apparently it went through like a couple of people first, right? Like it was just like finding – because I think it was like there was a ah number of people that – Yeah, that – But it sounds like it you know it hit it hit John Sr. No, no, for sure, for sure. But they also imply that it hit a few people before it hit Hal because – and they Because says what yeah when she' done the the Guardian came, she was like, oh, yeah, you know we realized the a couple people ah didn't react too well to how how we go about this.

Speaker: um And i did I did really like the so yeah i like the the take of like, no, dude, you've got to understand. like for black lake there's For people like us, it is different like just in terms of how we – yeah deal with this um no man it was just a a really cool that scene in the car where he's like singing outcast oh yeah yeah it's kind of sad it's sad and then they drop him off they make fun of him yeah they make fun of him right before and then they're like get your ass out of the car chris you have to walk chris jog my memory here like

Speaker: there Isn't there like an infamous serial killer or something that had a similar upbringing where like their his parents would like drop him off in the middle of like the woods and make him walk back and figure it out? I can't imagine that's not the case.

Speaker: and I'm trying to think of who he got. serial killer Like you said, they got incredibly lucky that they got Jones. Yeah, they gambled and lucked out because that the dude should have had so much fucking trauma.

Speaker: It's incredible, too, that he in that mission, too, showed such an honest, meritful interpretation of what following orders is.

Speaker: And I think it wasn't for the army. It was for the guardians. Yeah, it was for his own personal mission. asking me It was for the birds, you know? like yeah he He didn't care about what the army thought of him and if he was horribly discharged. And ultimately, he didn't.

Speaker: And that just makes him such a great person I know it's such a good I you know what I really like that. um They kind of like show that every time a person in charge gave them gave John an order where it'll be like you need to shoot like you know I'm going shoot this apple off your head or like you need to shoot this apple off in my head.

Speaker: He was rewarded with cheeseburgers. And then like with like later on, it's like, I got you a steak and a beer. Oh, yeah. Vegetarian. Yeah, yeah. And he's like, I hate cheeseburgers. When he finally like can like talk to his mom. And like that's the thing about it. like you know He wasn't doing it for the fucking cheeseburgers.

Speaker: there's that like part where like he's kind of like you know Hal just came in and like blew up the Manor and like took um what's his name Greyhound Grey Wolf think his name was or Grey Wolf you know yeah I will say Grey Wolf that is something I don't know because like that's a Guy Gardner move I never would have been like now, granted, like this is this version of how right. But like on paper, you're like, right oh, a Green Lantern drunkenly like just fixes it like solves the problem by being just like an asshole about it. Like that's a guy Gardner move.

Speaker: now now hold Now hold on there, Devin, because in the Superman movie, he makes it abundantly clear that he does not interfere politics. Right, yeah, yeah. earth college Until, you know, the end of the movie where he does. But no, I mean, you're know you're right. yeah I will say, though, it's just like, I don't know. I was like, like okay, I guess we're just.

Speaker: how how should be Yeah, this version of Hal is willing to do that. All right.

Speaker: I think I do, though, I do think Guy is more of a dick. Oh, yeah. they how Definitely. they they Did you guys see the theories online that people people are saying he's already like parallax mode?

Speaker: Like his ring is like part yellow. I was seeing that, but I think in the one shot of the ring, I think it's just there in a very light room. There's a lot of like white walls in it. So I think the ah the already like gold shine in that room is just beaming as white off of the ring. Though I do think there might be something to that because of his still connection to Sinestro and the way they laid it out. Oh yeah. Yeah. this episode like Oh yeah. You use him as like of almost like a father figure. Something in 2006 is going to make it. So Hal crashes out and doesn't ever set a backup in his ring. it is just this kind of this man who just. oo Dude the end of the episode where he is like so fake with like oh John's parents. Oh my God. i love it dude.

Speaker: And then the second they're out. Midwest Huxtables. I think that's going to one of my fantasy football team names. Midwest Huxtables. Yeah, that is, Hal is a is a whole character.

Speaker: He turns on a dime on on John. Like, I mean, even Sinestro, he told him like he, the Manhunter is your second greatest threat. I mean, I knew it from there, what he was referring to.

Speaker: Yeah. Because it's the same threat that Sinestro had to deal With training Hal. It's, you know. You knew the same way? It's. I'm always like, oh, yeah, whenever the episode's over, because it always recommends to watch Watchmen the show again. And I always forget that this is like the same DNA.

Speaker: yeah and I'm like, oh, right. No wonder this is like such like a well-written. Wasn't that Lindelof too? I believe so. Did he produce that shit too? That show also has an incredible episode.

Speaker: That rivals... That was an origin story, yeah. Yeah, rooted in... Yeah, rooted in... ah Of the hooded justice. Systemic racism, yeah. That was so fucking good, dude. That blew my goddamn mind, that episode.

Speaker: but It goes to show, too, like, they didn't even, like... It's not even, like, kind of... It's not even really shoved down your throat. it was just, like, one aspect of... Of his mom that was mentioned in... And, and like, the fucking...

Speaker: the The MAGA nerd crowd is is fucking crying so loud about this. It's so funny right now. i love it. They're just like, oh, yeah, everything's about race. Dude, these are the same people who are also freaking about a Grand Theft Auto 6 because, you know, it's like, what's ah it's it's a couple and they're all upset because you you sometimes play as a Latina like woman. bro you you imagine like just being surprised by that now? It's like, wait, what? It's like, yeah, this is not new. This not new information. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, no, no, dude. I saw people being like, dude, you remember there was a time when like you would see like a woman being badass in movie and you thought that was like sick as hell?

Speaker: And now there's like a contingent of people who are just like, ew, women. Ew, God of War? I can i still really wonder how fucking... it's dude it's gotta be like the people that are legitimately mad versus like just grifters you know oh no no no devon i knew where we were coming when a construction worker that was working on my home i asked him about like action movies that he like we were talking about john wick uh jason boren trilogy you know going through that then i brought up aliens he was like

Speaker: And I was like, you know, Alien's pretty decent. You know, he's like, oh, no, no, no, no. I was like, what? boy but I was like, you've never seen it? He's like, oh, I've seen it. But I don't like action movies where women are the leads. Oh, my God. That's wild. And was like, oh, God.

Speaker: It's insane. And then I knew, like, something is very pervasive here. Like, that is eked everybody's brain. All these idiots. And, uh, yeah. there's I knew then. I was like, what's that about?

Speaker: Right? I was shocked. That was like 10 years ago. I mean, listen, I know they exist, right? But it's just like, it's just so prevalent online.

Speaker: where youre And you know it's just people saying stuff because they want clicks, because they're money from in the... but but And it's just like the negativity is is so rewarded online.

Speaker: Yeah. It's a feedback loop, and it's just getting people more more. Yeah. No, listen, i have a guy at work that constantly is like... your pink water bottle pisses me off. And I'm like, OK, I'm sorry, dude. Like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I yeah, yeah. He's it's not the first or second time he's made a comment. And I was like, this you're really struggling with this. He's I don't know. We've got get you one with camo on it instead. I was like,

Speaker: i of i was like, no, I like the way this one makes me feel. did there There's so many men out there that are just terrified. They are scared of everything. They're so frightened. Are you afraid? Yes!

Speaker: Yes! Yes! every Every man in America, most MAGA men in America, they get in that world. Are you afraid of a strong woman? Yes! 100%. Yes! shit.

Speaker: We'll find somebody. Yeah. How Jordan's a freak, dude. He's into it. I've seen his algorithm. But yeah, man. Lanterns is a pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Speaker: I mean, you here's the thing. Here's the thing. Officially at this point, we're three episodes in. I think you can officially start wholeheartedly recommending this show to people.

Speaker: like you know the but people who have been holding off we're we're at penguin we're at yes we're in penguin mode right now we're in college penguin on the richter scale with this one this is gonna be good they're gonna be great um yeah i know this is uh we're penguins here at the moment yeah yeah yeah easily easily yes Is this, do we know, is this getting to season two?

Speaker: cornnwi Corn sweat, corn sweat Superman's got a lot better. Can't wait for them to like interact. Yeah. That's, um that's going to be some good energy there. two I don't incredible people.

Speaker: I don't know. Is this a one done season two, but I, i hope it might be a limited series. Let me check it up real quick. Which is kind of like, up yeah, but so was it that's what I mean. Like, it's kind of like a good, uh,

Speaker: It's not bad, you know? i mean, there's a lot. there's And that the thing is, that there's a lot they can do with it, but like I can't imagine anything they do after this Jon Stewart story being close. you know like They can't do it with Kyle Rayner. I mean, I don't know. yeah Depends. I'm seeing that they're saying that it is an eight-episode limited miniseries.

Speaker: Yeah, I would like it to stay that way. ah agree. Yeah, because like this is a good like standalone Jon Stewart like origin. and then work for Penguin. You work for Washington. You you gotta have your Green Lantern. Oh, I'm sorry. Blackest Night movie. Hold on. So it was originally discussed to be an eight-episode limited series, but the creative team plan it to be continuing.

Speaker: And work on a potential second season is already underway, they are saying. I wonder. like I know what this is going to lead into tomorrow. they said like the end of this is like link leading right into man of tomorrow. So I'm really interested to see how it ends.

Speaker: But man, this is like, yeah know, peacemaker. Yeah. Peacemaker. No, it's not even the same stratosphere. Yeah. That season was rough. Yeah. Which is, I hope this doesn't go down that bad with that being multiple seasons. Like I really like, i like miniseries. No, because like any, any big, big,

Speaker: green lantern type event is so large scale that it would have to just affect the entire dcu yeah yeah that's why i kind of like that this is just john getting the ring or john becoming a green lantern story like i really like that part of it you know but like if they do like any of the other lanterns or or blackest knight or sinestro core wars type stuff like that's just like You know, that's movies things at that point. Yeah, that's a movie. it's a bad That's a bad movie at that point. So it's interesting because it's whenever they do like superhero stuff in the show, I should say, like if I like when they did the scene where like how came in and blew up that mansion, like that stuff looks really cool. Like they don't like I know they don't have like the biggest budget for this, I imagine. But like when he flies, it looks good when he's like doing stuff. It looks awesome. He's breaking the sound barrier. That looks fucking awesome.

Speaker: awesome yeah that looks cool man i am okay with that i am fine with what they're showing and i don't mind it being grounded if it's gonna be this good of character development like sure you develop these characters you make better origin stories than they're in the comics you go ahead and make this small scale as fine by me that's how you're supposed to do it yeah you know i mean that's what all the best Scott Snyder Batman stories were this fucking small scale stuff, you know, the stuff where it's not like, you know, he's not writing the big crossover events. Right. Like Batman dealing with himself.

Speaker: Yeah. It's fucking, it's the, the, the, the B story, the, this eight page B story at the end of the, the, uh, the, his Batman, where it's about Jim Gordon's fucking serial killer son.

Speaker: Like it's that shit, you know, like that's the stuff that's like really good. you know agree I don't know. We're a great show. Keep on watching it. you would kill and Okay. sorry Damn. No Wile E. Coyote, so I got to kill it, man. There's no Thanos. There's no Thanos, guys.

Speaker: all right. um let's kind of go over like our and our news stuff because we we had some yeah there's uh yeah i mean there was a big showcase this week uh gta 6 gta 6 i uh mid is is strong i think uh i think i don't know if i'd say mid but I said this. I said, it looks... Maybe I'm not a GTA guy. Listen, GTA to me, technically gorgeous.

Speaker: visually looks great. i think I think it looks supremely uninspired at the same time. like It just looks like GTA. What do you expect? Red Dead? It's not going be Red Dead. I know exactly how this game plays. like You show me a Rockstar game, I already know the animation priority to do stuff is going to be like you know if i want to try and like do something quickly it's going to take two seconds for my character to like pick up and just like i don't know man like i'm not saying it needs a gimmick but gta 5 the cool thing when watching the the long plays or like these big trailers were like

Speaker: You're Michael. All right, let's switch over to Trevor. And then you see it go all the way out on the map and then swap right down into a totally different scenario and you're totally different character. And like that was really cool. And that felt...

Speaker: like uh you know groundbreaking in a lot of aspects this is just like yeah this just looks like gta uh like it's cool that she's you know your character's you know partner is with you for the bulk of these types of missions and i think there's some swapping that you can do i don't know if it's you know on demand or or what but that's cool but it just kind of just look like gta man i don't really know it didn't look surprising well well my my my my most interesting question for this game is it is it going to take the the comedic route that most gta games take or is it going to go in the series and try to be red dead

Speaker: yeah This one doesn't scream funny to me. like It doesn't, right? I think it's going to be... like previous tre I think it's going to Red Dead in the sense of just like like there's going to be goofy side characters. no. It's going to try to be Red Dead.

Speaker: it's gonna try to be it's gonna try to be red dead and i think i think I think there's going to be like ah a story beat that like Red Dead does in this where like there's going to be abuse you have to choose. And I think it's going to play against you. They heavily imply, you know Steve, I don't think you watched all of it, but like there's a sequence where they kind of go on a mission where him and Lucia ah run into like an older couple.

Speaker: And the whole thing is guys like, hey, man, you know, there's just always you got no one to walk away. Right. And um I can't I can't remember the guy's name, the main character's name, but he's like, I don't know. I feel more comfortable with like a gun in my hand than I do in like, a you know, in a suit.

Speaker: And i that's probably going to be like the the meta message of just like or the core message like, oh just knowing to walk away. you know, you, you have adjacent, it's like, you have somebody you can build a life.

Speaker: Yeah. gavin But there's also sequences where like they run into like the hammer lady. And like, I think those are going to be stranger type missions, right? Stranger types in areas where it's like, Oh, there's the hammer lady. You're going to run around, do a quest.

Speaker: do whatever, have ah have a goofy little interaction. um Yeah, and it it's like, it looks gorgeous. It just doesn't look surprising, I guess, which is, I don't know if you need to at this point.

Speaker: It's not like it's not going to sell the most ever. Trailer five is going to be. Oh, yeah. The fifth trailer they show is going to make me want it when they reveal that.

Speaker: yeah Well, yeah I mean, that's John. John, that is like the thing he does. He is yeah related to Arthur. They're saying he's said some. Yeah, that is like some. That's why he that's why he talks like that. And again, he talks like this. Oh, dude, like, you know, not for nothing. But I want to.

Speaker: I want it to fucking cyber bully. Paul Paul Macy when he was like yo that's gotta be Rob Weedoff's voice right I'm like that doesn't sound anything like John Marston at all it doesn't even a little bit I want to be like did you maybe maybe he meant Arthur but I don't know I don't yeah no he doesn't sound like Arthur either um yeah man Wait, so he he is? i heard I heard that that was like a a loose... 100% confirmed death?

Speaker: That's a weird thing. That's a weird thing to confirm. I don't know if they confirmed it, but... But his son died, remember? Yeah. Like, he doesn't have a bloodline. Oh, never mind. I'm basing this. i got I got got by internet. His great-great-great-grandfather is the guy that has Lumbaga. no because i saw a clip where somebody was like somebody was like wow the way he talks he kind of sounds like arthur no wonder they're related don't know i'll be honest i'll be honest uh not to be that guy but i was like i felt like he was his voice actor it was not good i was like this guy's he kind of yeah he has mush mouth like lucia plays or sounds like a

Speaker: a character, you know, a person and he's a just. Oh, mostly you'll be playing mostly as Lucia in crouch mode. You fucking freak, dude.

Speaker: yeah oh a Yeah. Some of these Reddit posts are funny, Devin. People are like, I see all the Jason hate, but let's not forget everybody cooked Arthur Morgan when he first got revealed. I don't think he did. Dude, honestly, yeah, people cooked him. No, he did. No. I remember. Chris especially. He was really hard on Arthur Morgan. No, no, no, no. They cooked him because he wasn't John, right? It's not like it's the same. Look at his dumb head. Yeah, yeah. Chris just didn't like his head. He said that was a head shape. Fucking jawline, stupid head. Yeah.

Speaker: I'm trying to find. Yeah. Yeah, they're not really. Yeah, I don't think they're really. You got a Western Muppet. I they've done stuff in the past where like people have been related to red for. Yeah, like you can make your online character. red yeah

Speaker: There's a red in Red Dead? There's a red in Red Dead. The very first one. The one made by Capcom. Oh, shit. Yeah. I guess, like i can't like, I can't go into this, like, expecting a like even a similar vein of, like, Red Dead. yeah They're very different games.

Speaker: This is your your crime story that's going to be kind of like, you know, a lot of, like, michael driving around. Michael Mann. Yeah, you got it it's it's very much a big deal with these movies these games and i i i want to hope there is going to be an element of comedy to it like it does look very serious though that's the the tone i'm getting from this trailer i saw you could do ah wrestling there's like backyard wrestling stuff so oh yeah yeah there is like the word story

Speaker: I feel like the core story is going to be very dramatic. You know, that's yeah that's what it seems like. But it's also Florida. So I think you're going to get some of that Florida wildness as your comedy.

Speaker: i would i would be more interested if Jason was like related to Michael or something from Vice City. Yeah. there It was funny. I saw someone on a lot of what I have seen and has been on like Twitter.

Speaker: I saw someone say a lot of people have been like, oh, dude, Jason's such a cock. ever He's always making sure that Lucia like walks through doors and like he holds the door. Yeah. the gentleman And like this game, this game is so lame and compared to Grand Theft Auto of five. And like people are like, dude, the beginning Grand Theft Auto five, yeah like Michael's wife is being railed by the tennis instructor.

Speaker: Like you play as a cuck. Like that is GTA five. And y'all love that game. Michael is a loser. Yes. Yes. He's like, they do a lot of stuff in that game with that story, if I remember correctly, with those characters. Yeah, Trevor is like a mess. And God, don't remember.

Speaker: Jesus. yellow car just Oh, Trevor, ah Trevor, Michael and their team. Why did I keep one? Not CJ. Shit.

Speaker: ah Whatever. Fuck. Okay. Steve house I was ready Oh Franklin pre pre-purchase it's a t six based on the stated related yeah based on your fucking Facebook AI fucking yeah false information that's so that's why I had to correct them yeah I was like nah nah dog don't do that don't get fucking you're right you're right I mean, John Marston, he could be a descendant. I guess it just shows how much misinformation is floating around about this game. Yeah, and that's the thing, though. They've had, like, decades at this point to, so like, talk about what their, like, built-in headcanons are.

Speaker: And so. Is he related to Donkey Kong, though? Oh, you know who is, though? Cranky Kong. ah i yeah So, Devin, if i if I get this game not having played GTA 4 or 5, Red Dead 2 being like my favorite yeah thing I ever made, will I be disappointed? Yes.

Speaker: Yeah. Yes. I still think... You didn't, you didn't you play like GTA five a little bit, John? I tried playing GTA four. I don't know. Yeah. Maybe you should give five a shot. I don't know. Don't give five a shot at this point. Fingers crossed that the, cause GTA four has some of the worst driving in the franchise. No, it was unplayable, dude. I was like GTA five. They fixed it. GTA five and red dead two felt similar, you know, gameplay wise.

Speaker: I will say that. But what about story wise? yeah like did Red Dead Redemption 2 story night and day blows GTA out of the water. Everything GTA has ever done. Give me a movie comparison.

Speaker: Like the same director, of same franchise or something like that. The Farley Brothers and... That's... Oh my god! That's a bit unfair, I would say, but... ah

Speaker: There you go. No, give me a real... Devin, you give me one, because Chris is... um ah Give me a real... Shit. ah Hold on. Like, Red Dead 2 is like... If Red Dead's like... There Will Be Blood, GTA 5 like...

Speaker: there will be blood

Speaker: gta five is like

Speaker: god Don't you say Tarantino. It's like flappy in the face a good, no, no, a good guy. Richie, the good guy, Richie movies.

Speaker: Like snacks. don't even like lock stock. Yeah. You know, I'm going say with the quippiness, but like, since Chris refused to let me say, uh, Quentin Tarantino.

Speaker: Uh, yeah. told you fucking say that shit. That not true. All right, well, are there Tarantino movies that you can analogy? GTA can be like, oh, Heat's like too serious too.

Speaker: No, it's not Heat. I would say Tarantino, if you're doing Tarantino, it would probably be like, ooh, what would be Red Dead Redemption 2? Django? Yeah, be.

Speaker: I'd say Django as far as the story is concerned. Story quality. Well, actually, think it's more Hateful Eight because they're all killing each other. Okay. And then what's what's the GTA of Tarantino's? It's probably like Reservoir Dogs. Yeah, for dog yeah Pulp Fiction.

Speaker: probably both Oh, so GTA V is one of the greatest movies ever made. Shut the fuck up. Yeah, see, no, that's why I said that. I want to do that. I Chris. I rage baited you. One is like Mad Max Fury Road, and the other one is Happy Feet.

Speaker: I've never seen it yet, though. Yeah, Happy Feet's like Red Dead. Yeah, it's so funny. all right so grand theft auto six coming out we're all buying it except maybe john what else we got uh we're all gonna i was i was gonna buy it for three seconds there and then i'm gonna get it uh so but when is it came out a member it's a world event remember john we might just have off have off from work that day because why not right like

Speaker: The military is giving people had four days to play it before they back. I'm going to suggest it. You've got to re-enlist. Could you imagine re-enlisting just because you want to play GTA?

Speaker: Just so you get three days for GTA. Or you could not re-enlist. Yeah, just don't. And then not get shot like and murdered ah in a war that you have no business in being. But hey hey, who's to say? Who's to say?

Speaker: You know what the thing though is? Those drill instructors going to be like, we gave you three days to learn. You're supposed to take what you played and bring it into the war. ah you go to dry Does Jason have red eye? There's some slowdown.

Speaker: Trevor had red eye, right? There's a slowdown. Jason had a slowdown. No, no, no. We're talking about six. and you know In five, Michael had slowdown. Franklin could slow down while driving, and Trevor had like a rage mode. And Trevor had psycho. Yeah, but in this, in the gameplay for six, they showed Trevor had Michael-esque slowdown.

Speaker: So I don't know if that turns into a Red Dead you know headshot simulator. You mean Jason? Yeah, yeah. Sorry, sorry. Yeah, Jason just has like slow down. Max Payne style.

Speaker: jason Yeah. i don't Jason Morgan. I don't think Jason Morgan doesn't. He doesn't start. Jason Morgan. You know. Although the one thing I did see, which is kind of appealing, is people are saying that the story like the vibe of the story could be that like Jason and Lucia are like if Arthur and like worked out.

Speaker: Yeah. it Never broke up. Yeah. Like that. Like she went along. with Yeah. I did read. I did read something where essentially like you can kind of like strengthen your relationship or just kind of let it deteriorate as the game. Like it's implied like you should like go on dates and stuff because if you don't like Yeah, like your relationship by the end of the game could go to shit, and then you know who knows what happens. But yeah like that's but just in terms of gameplay, just watching the trailer, right? And i think I think they really fucked up by not doing the narrator thing.

Speaker: Remember the narrator in the old ones, in the old trailers? Oh, that's weird. The thing, though, is I think those were Red Dead trailers. No, they had one for GTA 5. Yeah, they had a few narration ones for GTA 5. I remember when they brought that narrator in for those, and I was like, oh, this really kind of changes. And I think and i think that's like that didn't help.

Speaker: And that's kind of what influenced me to say it felt uninspired because it was just like, Oh, they're doing a mission. Oh, there's a shootout. Oh, they're doing headshots and there's cover. You're saying it looked mid? You're saying it looked mid?

Speaker: You're saying it looked mid? You're missing that guy's face. Yeah. I do i do need that that lady to say, in the world of Los Santos, you will... but but but but Like, I needed that to make it good.

Speaker: jason Jason is related to Arthur Morgan, John, so you know.

Speaker: Steve was technically right, it's just we had to wait for the game to come I believe said that. can't believe you fucked with me like that. Yeah, but you know what? I was allowed to get a freebie, though, because I did get the John Sr. being... Yeah, okay, fine. So that's my freebie.

Speaker: Well, you also did know when Advent Children came out. All right, what else? That's all we got. yeah That's all we got. So opening night live happened this or games gamescom happened this week and gamescom gamescom is officially the largest game con convention on the planet by like orders of magnitude. Yet it never feels that important.

Speaker: And I don't understand it That's because all the other dinosaurs died, Devon. No, but like... So, of course, the crocodile... And I think the overall vibe is like, we're not really going to surprise you with anything because it's not late enough in the year to surprise you. Not like a, you know, not like an end of the year, oh, this is us a shocking thing that we're going to see in a year or two.

Speaker: And it's not in the middle of the year to still surprise you. So this GameStop always feels like a check-in type of conference. Yeah. but wait I always heard that Gamescom is where, like, you get some... Maybe you some deals? I mean, no, no. Sure, sure. But i'm I'm talking about from, like, our perspective, like, the announcements.

Speaker: Like, Opening Night Live was, like, a two-hour show. is no And, like, the biggest... so Yeah. dead Like, it's kind of like, hey, remember we told you that The the Witcher 3 is going to have DLC 12 years after the fact? Here's, like, a full-blown trailer. And you're like, oh, sick.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. yeah it looked great look oh remember uh you know like we were talking about gears of war like here's another trailer final fantasy 7 here's another like it's like we're just checking in hey we still exist there's a little bit more information and then but like there's no big deal trailers now granted there's a lot of people and there's a lot of hands-on times that you're you know that over throughout the week oh gta or um um IGN, GameSpot, they're all doing like, oh, we got to play 20 minutes, three hours of this and that and this and that.

Speaker: And you know they show off some cool stuff. So like I don't know, man. like There's a really great Control Resonant trailer. like it's It's great, but like it's the fifth trailer for this game that's coming out like...

Speaker: 10 days yeah you're already locked in right um so really just in terms of things that i thought really stood out is the witcher 3 stuff and the witcher 3 fucking remastered edition which is technically like the second ish remaster that they're doing for this game completely free and they're redoing lots of mechanics and they're they're tweaking things and I was looking at this like, um I can't fucking believe it. I'm going to replay this game again.

Speaker: Like my bitch ass is going to replay The Witcher 3 again. You know what? Maybe this is a good excuse. This is the excuse to jump. Just the in mind yeah. You know what?

Speaker: They're tweaking the combat. They're tweaking the everything in the game. I'm looking at it. I'm like, this looks good. They got Witcher 4 coming out in a couple years, I imagine. Maybe next year, even.

Speaker: I don't know. They're bullish. They're like, nah, dude, it's coming. Fuck you. Because, um yeah, Songs of the Past is 2027.

Speaker: For sure. But, man. I mean, i don't know, man. It's like Witcher 3. Witcher 3 is a goaded game. That other game that everybody talked about that came out the same year, Bloodborne. No one's even heard of that game since that that one year it came out.

Speaker: I'm serious. No remasters. No DLC. Nothing. It's just an old fossil, old sack of shit. dream Constant onage streams and YouTube videos.

Speaker: Yeah, just an old bag of bones, that thing.

Speaker: you forget You know what? you were Your game was getting its time in the sun, and you suddenly had to take a pop shot. It was earned. It was earned. Fuck those guys. That's not true. um Anyway, yeah, so listen.

Speaker: There's some cool stuff. ah This is a nice respite from from just feeling absolutely miserable about gaming like we have since I feel like q two The first or second quarter of gaming has been pretty atrocious in terms of news.

Speaker: And it's nice to just put it aside for just a little bit and be like, oh, by the way, there are some great games this month. We talked about already. There's going to be some pretty sick stuff coming out. Uh, and hey, Xbox officially announced their disc to digital feature that they are doing, which is, uh, I don't know, man, it's tough to, I guess it's tough to poop on this one.

Speaker: So basically, much like the PS6, Project Helix is most likely going to be digital only. But Xbox has implemented or is implementing ah a process where essentially you can put your digital license on a disc

Speaker: and then have it, right? Which is nice. It's nice to have. It's nice to see that somebody's trying to do something about it, whether or not it's kind of like an empty gesture. Who knows? But I mean, listen, on on one hand, you have this. On the other, Sony is literally reminding people of their terms and service to remind you that you don't actually own anything you're buying from them on their store. So it's kind of it's kind of objectively shitty, you know?

Speaker: We are cool. And hey hey, there's going to be a state of play this week. for Tokyo Game Show. It's thursday's yeah when it's Thursday morning at like 6 a.m. And then I think there's a twofer. There's like another kind of showcase for another game, i think, directly after. okay it's It's just going to blare that you don't. Yeah, it's probably just. Well, yeah, it's a miserable message.

Speaker: We are taking away your consoles at the end of the world. Oh, man. So in terms of ah that live action stuff, ah listen, RIP last week to Dolly Parton, RIP this week, Tim Curry.

Speaker: Man, damn, damn, damn. And Peter Cullen, too. And Peter Cullen, yeah. Fucking... voice of the predator uh what the voice of the yeah you heard me the optimus prime the predator wait wait like like sir no like the as then predator from the movie the clicks and stuff that was peter cullen yeah that was him he based it off of a uh hey shoutouts shout out shout out to

Speaker: That is pretty cool. um Yeah, man. It's a shame. I mean, Tim Curry was in in rough shape for a long time, so I wouldn't exactly say I was surprised.

Speaker: Yeah. But it's just cool to see people fucking gassed up the Wild Thornberries of all things. They're like, yo, man, Wild Thornberries was the shit. I love this stuff. Oh, dude. Yeah, dude. um there is matt Yeah. I forgot about how much shit he was in. was in everything.

Speaker: Video games, animated shows. We got a trailer for a new Ali G movie, which apparently has made people angry because they think it's being racially insensitive. And to that I say, have you ever heard or been familiar with the works of Sacha Baron Cohen before?

Speaker: Why are we surprised by this? i don't think I don't think it's less... it For me, it's less about being offensive and more about like who the fuck cares about Oli G. Yeah. Well, for me, like I don't care, but the fact that people are like, this is so insensitive. It's like, motherfucker, have you fucking seen...

Speaker: Oh, no, no, no, no. Trust me. I understand the internet nowadays, but I think we should focus on the fact that this movie 10 years Yeah, It was kind of one of those like, all right.

Speaker: Alec G was cool 15 years ago. That's the most important part. Yeah, i'm trying to I'm trying to think. This would be like if Will Ferrell now was like, I'm making a cheerleader movie. Yeah, exactly. yeah. so That's a pretty apt comparison. It's like, okay.

Speaker: Yeah, why not, I guess. I hope it works out. Go for it. um Hey, ah Dan Stevens. we're Favorite of weirdos everywhere, Dan Stevens. ah Yeah, he's he's officially cast as RoboCop.

Speaker: The live-action RoboCop show. i can't think of a better person than to to do this. If they're going to remake it, I don't like Joel Kinnaman guy. I thought he could have been inspired. But yeah, the movie itself itself is terrible. but I don't know. i i think yeah I think Dan Stevens, I think, is down for for it to be weird. Yeah. And I think Joel Kinnaman is like, yeah I want him to have a personality. It's like, I don't think you get the what they're doing with this.

Speaker: Yeah, the vibe is going to be right, I think, with Dan Stevens. Especially, i think this is a ah good project to remake because I feel like we're falling back. yeah Yeah. Yeah. Comics. Hey, listen, yeah, silver lining. Maybe we'll get a banging-ass Robocop out of it.

Speaker: ACAB, but still. I think so. Also got a trailer for the Unabomber, the Netflix series? Movie? I can never tell anymore. It's either... Yeah. it's ah

Speaker: He's pretty cool, I guess. You know? He's got a skateboard. He doesn't make mistakes in his manifesto. He's got his own house. How many people have their own house nowadays? do you Genuinely? Genuinely, he deserves that house. right Yeah. In the middle of nowhere.

Speaker: i always love that story about how like his cabin is like just like perfectly... They just, like, removed his cabin and just put it in a fucking warehouse and somewhere in the FBI.

Speaker: guantanamo or Quantico somewhere, I think. In the DC universe. Oh, my God, yeah. Like a hyper genius. I am the Unabomber. That means I have only one bomb. Oh, we got really blew up one thing. We got it. That was the first Okay. I see guys blow up 10,000 things on YouTube now.

Speaker: It's pretty No, one the time only one. What was the guys mom guy, the bomb guy in The Incredibles? Was it Bones Away? Yeah. No, that wasn't it. It was something like that, though, but I forgot about that guy. yes That's the Unabomber.

Speaker: the Oh, He's a fucking mime. Crazy. you would have been he's a fucking mime ah It was a trailer for The Social Reckoning, the sequel to The Social Network, um with Resident Weirdo, a guy who plays Mark Zuckerberg in this movie. And I can't think. I'm blanking on his name.

Speaker: Yeah, Mark Strong, right? Strong. Yeah, Mark Strong. Mark Strong. I'm sorry, Jeremy Strong. Jeremy Strong. Strong. Jeremy strong. He did the same. yes but Sorry. Apologies to Mark strong and Jeremy strong.

Speaker: Uh, yeah. The strong brothers. Yeah. I guess written by, written by X crackhead. Aaron Sorkin. Yeah. It's, um, he's, he's obviously, you know, i think Jeremy strong is going to nail it, but I think this is like the weakness in it is like,

Speaker: And it's just me being overly, overly like introspective about this. I think the Mark Zuckerberg that we got in the social network is like an actor's interpretation of like this biopic version of Mark Zuckerberg. And I think Jeremy Strong is going like way too method and he's going to be, it's going to be like too accurate. You know what I mean? And it's just gonna be like, don't know, maybe it'll work. Maybe,

Speaker: great you're gonna be like like Yeah, exactly. he's you won't be man much He won't be enjoyable to watch, which maybe also is the point, to be fair. Because he's he's like at the height of his weirdo powers in this.

Speaker: But I don't know, man. it's It's just weird. It is weird. i think I do think about him being as intense. It does kind of help because...

Speaker: I think they're going for him being like. Yeah. Yeah. Which is which is I think how he kind of is now. know um And. Yeah. Yeah. Jeremy Strong's going to.

Speaker: We'll see. I mean. um Hopefully. Fucking. I guess Ryan Gonson's making a Bam Bam movie. Which is. A live action Bam Bam Flintstones movie. Why not?

Speaker: He can do whatever he wants. know what? stan I'll be honest. Power has been used for worse things. Power and influence. Yeah, if he's like, I want to make a Bam Bam movie. Now, listen, my only argument is like maybe you could have made a Bam Bam Bigelow movie, but listen, that's just me.

Speaker: I just like seeing guys with skull tattoos doing moonsaults in onesies, but do you, I guess.

Speaker: And then finally, finally, we have this. Chris, this felt like a joke. um And then you posted it. and i was like, I guess this is real. ah The history of concrete.

Speaker: Very much. Very real. This is by John Wilson, who I loved his show on HBO Max. How to with John Wilson. He's executive produced by Nathan Fielder.

Speaker: Oh, okay. So I kind of part in that. But I was very upset when I found out that the his show was canceled. had no idea that he was planning a movie and it was going to be about concrete.

Speaker: But that's on point because I remember he did an entire episode about scaffolding in New York and that led to Mr. Mondami passing a law, a moratorium.

Speaker: on how long scaffolding can be up in New York because it was ridiculous. You had scaffolding covering almost every wonderful building in New York City. It was really not pleasurable to look at. And now they have, I think, a three-year window.

Speaker: So they can only keep the scaffolding up for three years. And I think they have to change the way the scaffolding looks now to make it more appealing. like Right. It's a nicer-looking scaffolding. Nicer-looking and less time actually set up. So...

Speaker: This is a cool... ah I really like John Wilson. He did an entire episode about Avatar, which i think is wonderful. Which one? The movie or the show? The movie. The John... oh john James Cameron films. um Very good. Very funny.

Speaker: It's about hobbies, ultimately, but it leads into that. Yeah. Yeah, um I am totally down with this. This is going to be fucking hilarious. And yeah, I'm loving it. I'm seeing it in theaters. And it's a limited release.
