Speaker: Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening, ladies, gentlemen, non-binary folks in universes known and unknown. My name is Adam, and i am the producer and editor of Roleplayers.

Speaker: And I am making this little mini message to you right now to let you know that Roleplayers is coming back. And... I don't know if it'll be as good as it was.

Speaker: It might even be awesome or even more awesomer than it was. All I know is that it's time. I've been running from it for a while, you see, and I just was afraid to revive it because things happened in life and people left and life changed and circumstances were different and, you know, I just don't know. But I'm very happy to report that that to help me revive this show once again are three people who I adore immensely.

Speaker: So you will hear the wonderful characters from my brother from a German mother, Adrian, my sweet Cass, who has been essentially one of my best creative friends and most endearing companions,

Speaker: For... Gosh, since I adopted her. And then... Someone who I'm delighted to bring back to the fold as well. Who you heard in most recent seasons.

Speaker: My pal David. Who was pretty much there... From the beginning. And... I couldn't be more happy and excited to have them and to try this new story.

Speaker: So here's a little, i wouldn't call it a preview because i'm not going to edit anything in and I'm not going to spoil too much only because the story will be constructed together.

Speaker: And while it has always been the case with role players, I've always wanted to make sure that any game that I've run that the players had input on what the world looked like and what everyday characters look like. And some of the most memorable ones that we've ever had were just a random idea that somebody said or threw out in an episode or if they just made an offhanded joke and I decided to take it a little bit too far and I couldn't be happier knowing that I have these minds and these creators jumping back in to do this with me and i gotta be honest with y'all I've run from it a bit because I'm scared I'm scared of of not being good at this anymore I'm scared of

Speaker: You know, i don't know. It's been a couple years since I've really dove, dived? Dovin? Dovin doesn't sound right. Since I've really jumped into role-playing and producing a show and trying to have something that seems like a cohesive story that jumps from episode to episode, and I really don't know...

Speaker: what to expect and a little peek behind the curtain. We usually don't record too many episodes in a row because I want things to stay fresh and I want things to change. And I want us to also to be able to keep up with the times. And so maybe we record one episode or two episodes at a time, but then, you know, I still want there to be, if there's anything current going on, I want us to be able to talk about it and maybe infuse some of that into our stories.

Speaker: And it's important to me that, know, We don't record too far ahead. So as of right now, as I am recording this, we have yet to record the first episode.

Speaker: And everybody, I am freaking terrified. And I'm nervous. And I'm just... I'm not feeling as confident as I want to be.

Speaker: But I am also so, so excited. And i don't know how consistent it'll be yet. We might continue week to week. It might be every couple of weeks until we kind of catch our you know our footing.

Speaker: But I just want let you all know that this is happening. And we're doing it. And a little preview of of what's to come. Essentially the idea that I pitched and I've had so many that I've pitched and then just faltered on because I was afraid they weren't good enough. So maybe some of these things will present themselves. Maybe they won't. Maybe we'll use them in a different story. I don't know.

Speaker: I've certainly tinkered around a lot. But to get back into it, we are bringing back Monster of the Week as our game system of choice. It was the easiest one for us all to jump back in and one that we were familiar with very immensely. And I think the one that gave us the most bits of story that really kept the podcast alive for a couple of years.

Speaker: And so it just felt like that is the right way to jump back in. Um, That's not to say we won't explore other systems down the road, but Monster of the Week is where we're at right now, and I'm really excited to just do that. And i will say i am just a few creatures away from finishing a new creature compendium for, you know, it's been years in, I'd say years in the making, but I haven't been working on it consistently. But I'm back to trying to finish this second volume of the Sierra Corp creature compendium that I released a few years ago.

Speaker: So keep an eye out for that because you'll see some of these creatures in the show. like we I guess see them is not the right term. You'll hear them in this show in some way. But the story that I've chosen to tell, or at least the story that I've chosen to bring my friends in to help me tell is probably more accurate, is I call it Monster of the Week Liminal Code.

Speaker: And essentially what the liminal code is... is there is a guy who we'll meet soon who was essentially trying to break into other realities and other planes of existence to find out if gods were real and to find out if demons were real and to find out if alternate realities or or multiverses were real and just to kind of find something more and exciting with his life.

Speaker: And after going through a lot of different practices, and I'm thinking he probably made deals with devils. He probably made deals with angels. He probably worked with the occult. He probably practiced spells and and witchcraft and some sort of infusions with science as well and and chemicals and electricity and and all sorts of things because he was desperate to break this code.

Speaker: So he called it the liminal code. And for those you don't know, liminal... is usually used in terms of so like a space of sorts, whether a physical space or an abstract space. It sends you to mean it's a transitionary space between other spaces.

Speaker: And most commonly, you would think of a hallway. You walk from one room through a hallway into another room. The hallway is a liminal space. right Limbo in in some ah religious sects could be considered a liminal space ah where you know it's a space between heaven and hell. where Will you ever get out or is that just where you are forever? Some people have different thoughts on what that is.

Speaker: So essentially the liminal code here is how do I crack this interdimensional code to allow me to communicate with and travel between spaces that may even be on top of the one that I'm in now.

Speaker: And so this character who I've named Buster, I don't know where that name came from, but his name is Buster, who wants to, well, has cracked this code.

Speaker: And essentially what happens is when he unlocks this code and starts to explore somehow in a way that I guess we'll learn as other players throw in their ideas, he's He thought it was just, you know, he could go to and from, but other things started finding their way in.

Speaker: And so his world has been infiltrated by creatures and different beings from other realms, which will manifest, many of which, anyway, in the forms of the creatures that they will be hunting.

Speaker: And when I say they, i mean the heroes of the story, that Cass and Adrian and David will be playing. And I don't know how that will turn out yet, but essentially Buster reaches out. He sends out an SOS. Now I have no idea what that looks like to interdimensional people. I have no idea what his SOS looked like or sounded like. I might leave it up to the players to tell me what they heard or saw or felt, but essentially Buster puts out an SOS and Into these worlds that says, I don't want to tell the government.

Speaker: I don't want to tell the police. I don't want to tell anybody what I just did. But I fear that I have brought doom upon my reality and I need help. And so the characters that the players will be are from different universes and different worlds. Very similar to how we do Time Jail, except they're not just plucked for some unreason. They are choosing to leave their own reality for whatever reason they'll choose, and maybe we'll explore as we play, to go and help Buster capture or eliminate or investigate these beings that have entered into his reality and try to bring them home, eliminate them, whatever. It's up to them.

Speaker: I have no plans beyond that. And I just have to trust, not just in the players, but in myself, that um that the improv will come.

Speaker: I've tried not to plan too much because that's kind of what happened and why I froze so many times, even though I wanted to revive this podcast a year earlier, was I got scared because I overplanned and I tried to make it perfect. And I had all these big ideas and I just thought, I'm not going to remember all this and it's not going to good enough.

Speaker: Um, so I'm just going to trust that the ideas will continue to flow as the players and I just work through it and figure it out. So it might be a little choppy when we first get into it.

Speaker: It might be wonderful. It might be weird. Maybe it'll be all of those things. And that really kind of defines what role players is, isn't it? Or at least doesn't it, I should say, if I speak English properly. But anyway, I think that's plenty to at least tease on.

Speaker: And i just want to say... Apparently, people are still finding this podcast, which I'm so grateful for.

Speaker: And I can tell you that whether if you've made it to the end of this and you're a true fan, otherwise you're like, this ain't role-playing. Why the fuck's this asshole talking to me right now? um But we are coming back, and it's happening very, very soon.

Speaker: And I hope that you'll stick with us. I hope that you'll check it out. I hope that you'll tell your friends. I hope that it still... you know, maybe scratches that itch. um Also, sorry, my phone keeps going off because I bought a motorcycle and my family and friends are really concerned about it.

Speaker: So if you keep hearing it, that's why that's a story that you'll hear in a future episode of that's our Q or TOQ, which is another show that I run and produce with my buddy, Danny.

Speaker: So go look for that. If you want to hear what's been going on in life while I've been trying to psych myself up to do this podcast. And while we also answer a bunch of internet questions is if anybody gives a shit.

Speaker: Um, so anyway, uh, outside of that one last thing, we have a new store at finance dollars, not work. Dot biz. Please go there and check it out. We've got a lot of really fun shirts. We have a days of the weeks work shirts, so you can wear different shirts to work to tell your coworkers what day it is.

Speaker: Or if you want to wear a Sunday shirt on a Friday and really throw people off, you could do that too. Um, we have some other interesting shirts there. Um, that, uh, just say what color shirt they are.

Speaker: So, you know, a minimalistic approach, but we've gotten some good sales. People seem to like them. So if you want to support the show as we try to come back, you can buy some merch off the store. Our Ko-Fi is still active.

Speaker: We're trying to get more people into our server. Now that we're back and moving again, we still have the same community. we have a lot of people who are still active and we're trying to think about how we want to open back up and bring more people into the fold and, and really expand how ah welcoming our our our circle is and to bring more fans in to really become friends.

Speaker: And if that's something you're interested in please send us a message at FundanceDollarsNetwork.biz. There is a message portal right at the bottom of the page. You can let us know. It really is the best way to get a hold ah a hold of all of us at once instead of giving you a bunch of social media posts.

Speaker: So that's the best way to do it. So that's it. I'm going to stop it now. And just for funsies, I think I'm probably just going to put the new theme song at the end here just to give you something to kind of wet your whistle until we until we figure out what this new universe is going to look like and what this new chapter of role players will be.

Speaker: So Before I do that, just one more time, I want to thank everybody who listened to us and who still listen and who have sent nice messages and who have asked me questions and left reviews and bought merch from us and just Or told a friend, hey, you might like this. And to everybody, whether you're still in my life or not, i if you have been on this show, or if you have had some hand in how it has been produced, edited, um manipulated, or sculpted in any way, whether story or idea pitch, I'm so grateful because this...

Speaker: You know, if something were to happen to me tomorrow, I would really hope that this would still find people and bring them joy and make people giggle and and give them something to think about. So thank you just so much.

Speaker: I'm actually getting a little bit emotional thinking about it because this feels very unreal to me to do. And I thought that after I'd stepped away from it for so long that it just would be a husk of itself um and still finding people. And I'm just so happy about that.

Speaker: And... um I don't know if this will do as well or not, but the fact that there's still people who are going back and listening to old episodes or finding it for the first time really does just bring me... and brings me a lot of joy. So thank you.

Speaker: Sincerely. And without further ado, so I don't make this into anything longer than it needs to be, I'm just going to play the theme song, play myself out, and... um We'll see you guys very soon.

Speaker: Thanks.
