Jarrod Dyke: Hey you everybody, welcome back. It is the Fancy Rugby Yanks. My name is Jared Dyke.
Grumpy Old Prop: I'm Ben Glauser.
Jarrod Dyke: We're here, we're ready. Yes, back-to-back weeks, so ladies and gentlemen. Let the record show.
Jarrod Dyke: We made it. Oh, shit. Ben is just egging to crack this beast that he's got of a of a beverage. and
Grumpy Old Prop: I say that now, but I'm going to regret it.
Jarrod Dyke: Now you're second-guessing yourself.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, no, i'm i'm I'm going to be by the end of this pod. rule It'll be interesting. Let's put it that way.
Jarrod Dyke: and Ben's going to have the case of the sillies. For sure. I wouldn't doubt it.
Grumpy Old Prop: i It wouldn't be the first time.
Jarrod Dyke: No, it wouldn't.
Grumpy Old Prop: I've been accused of having the sillies in the past.
Jarrod Dyke: Nope. Oh, yeah. That's right. Make sure you find this on your favorite podcast app. Download, rate, review. I'm still abstaining, but i'm I'm almost better. Like, this has been a beast of a fucking illness. I have no idea what it was either.
Jarrod Dyke: I see my doctorate.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, that's right. Yeah, you so, okay. okay You're gonna have to deal with a drunk me.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, that's right. I can, I dealt with drunk you before, so that's not news.
Grumpy Old Prop: the ah
Jarrod Dyke: No, I, I, I see my, uh, I see my doctor end of the month and we can sort out what the fuck it was.
Grumpy Old Prop: Facts.
Jarrod Dyke: Hopefully.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: but but Anyway, um, make sure you buy our good friend, George, the fancy ruby geek, a coffee or beer. Um, and also make sure you check out geeks on the go. He and our, our other good friend, Paul are on there giving you good loads for, uh,
Grumpy Old Prop: ah paul
Jarrod Dyke: Good loads of tipt tidbits for fantasy and for both the Subaru and for the official. So get onto that. And if you have not listened to, oh my God, if you've not listened to the draft episode from this past weekend, go back and you could probably skip to like midway through and then start to hear the laughs.
Jarrod Dyke: That's when the laughs really started. So we went from everything, everything from dude, where's my car? To Paul, Paul having his watch alarm him to stop, to calm the fuck down.
Grumpy Old Prop: Jeez.
Jarrod Dyke: Like, yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: ah
Jarrod Dyke: So there's there's quite a bit of goods in there if you haven't listened to it. And especially if you're going go end up going to some sort of draft format for Super Rugby as well, it should help you there.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. We'll talk more fantasy later on. um So there is no discrimination here on this podcast, nor should it be in sports or in life.
Grumpy Old Prop: So I'm going to go with, um, uh, I didn't pull this up. I'm sorry. give me a second.
Jarrod Dyke: That's right.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um,
Jarrod Dyke: It's worth it, I promise.
Grumpy Old Prop: yeah, it is. Cause so good, ah bad things don't always, uh, happen to good people. Um, or sorry, bad things don't always happen to bad people.
Grumpy Old Prop: And it's funny when they do.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: And, um,
Grumpy Old Prop: This shit. ah ah Okay. So um this attorney, so all the shit that's happening in the U S that we talked about, you know, last week, a little bit of what we talked about last week anyway.
Grumpy Old Prop: um and So oh the thing is they're, they're doing so much that the prosecutors are quitting. Right. So and it's just so, because they're,
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, I've seen that.
Grumpy Old Prop: like they understand that they, you know, when, when all this goes to shit, um they're still going to have to try to work as lawyers. And they're realizing that nobody's going hide, like they're tainted if they do any of this shit.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, absolutely.
Grumpy Old Prop: And so they've been quitting. um Some have been quitting because they just won't do this work. They're like, this isn't what I, I signed on to do. It's not supposed to be a ah political thing. And well, at this point, they don't have a choice cause it's like the government needs representation cause there's so many fucking court cases and they've, but so they've been basically like, they've been posting a fucking like Twitter saying DM us a resume if you are a lawyer and want to work for us. Like they're, they've got nothing and that's going to be, you know, if, if nothing else, that's going to fuck them over. Like that they their inability to represent themselves in in the court of law is going to be problematic.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um, um especially at like, you know, not even at the federal level, but, at you know, at the the local state and local level, like they can, like they'll be able to protect themselves.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
Grumpy Old Prop: But either way, this, um this lady, Julia, Julie li Lee, I think it is.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah yeah i saw her i saw this
Grumpy Old Prop: Um, she like had a meltdown because she volunteered to be in this position to defend um the federal government and their and then dhs and what they're doing and um she had a fucking breakdown yesterday and was like put put me put yeah right in front of the judge like said this job sucks and and asked to be held in contempt so she could get 24 hours sleep
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, but in front of the in front of another judge.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, I saw this. I did see that.
Grumpy Old Prop: ah Because so she and and she kind of laid it out. i read some of the the court transcript when she was doing all this.
Jarrod Dyke: I did too.
Grumpy Old Prop: And she's like, she just started like a month ago.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: And like she had three weeks of like light training.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: And then they just dumped case after case on her. And she's dealing like apparently these prosecutors.
Jarrod Dyke: That sounds like this administration to a d
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. They're average they're averaging at this point, 88 cases ah ah per person, 88 right now.
Jarrod Dyke: T.
Grumpy Old Prop: And these are all like. big like civil rights violations, things like that.
Jarrod Dyke: Say there's huge deals going on between all these.
Grumpy Old Prop: like
Jarrod Dyke: These are not like, you know, you go to court for a day and you're done. These are going to require many days for in court per case.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. And so these pieces of shit are torching their careers and killing themselves basically just to what? Defend fascism. And so, um but Julie Lee, she actually left, I'm just seeing this now. She left Minnesota. um She's out of there and she went back to her job at ICE. So like she's already fucked anyway because, you know, once we um ah once we abolish ICE, like she won't have a job, but then where's she going to be a lawyer?
Jarrod Dyke: No.
Grumpy Old Prop: Because she, nobody's go like, it's going to be toxic.
Jarrod Dyke: There's going to be a short list of people that want to hire her. not going to be very long.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. So yeah, I'm sure there will be firms, but at the same time, if you like, you know, lose your shit in court like that, it's not a good look. So um sucks for you.
Jarrod Dyke: not, no.
Grumpy Old Prop: Don't support fascism. And, and you know, it's like, don't start. Nothing won't be nothing. And yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And now I have Will Smith in my head from independent and ah from Men in Black in my head.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yup. And it, it, so, you know, this, we we don't use this to, to often to have something nice to say, but in this case, like
Grumpy Old Prop: bad people are having a bad time in all this. And that's, that's a good thing.
Jarrod Dyke: Can't imagine why.
Grumpy Old Prop: At least, I mean, in a shitty situation, that's something nice.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Absolutely.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah and people suck.
Jarrod Dyke: Make sure that you grab our Patreon as well. Six Nations is coming up and yes, we will have stuff. Probably won't be available until the break though. I will, i I'll totally admit that.
Jarrod Dyke: So after the first two rounds, we'll have, we'll have, it also doesn't really matter after round one.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: So, Round two at least gives you some context as to what's going on. So, yes, we will not have it right away, but we will have we'll have our our sheet ready to go and the analytics. And we will have analytics for both official and Super Brew this year. So those of you that are more into the official game, we got you covered.
Jarrod Dyke: We got you. Okay. Um, six stations preview. We're trying to keep both of these fairly tight somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes. Um,
Jarrod Dyke: I'd love to go like team by team down the whole roster, but we're not going to, because that's where we get caught up.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Um, So we already know England's team for this weekend, so maybe we can just focus on that and and then we can we can go a little bit broader than that.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: but So England's team this weekend, ah but and I were texting when it came out. um A lot to like, but at the same time, like ah there's still some grossness about it.
Grumpy Old Prop: There is. And there's there's some things that that don't quite make sense. um
Grumpy Old Prop: But there's a lot there, as you said, lot to like. I mean,
Grumpy Old Prop: first off, i um you know tom like you just look for certain key names. And Tom Curry's on the bench, of course, I think probably because it's Wales when they play you know some of the the top of the line opponents.
Grumpy Old Prop: I'm guessing he's going start even though i actually really like this roster a lot better. um or at least this back row combinational a lot better than with him in it.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um, but I do like also the Henry Pollock's on the, squa on, on the squad.
Jarrod Dyke: Correct.
Grumpy Old Prop: I, I'm looking forward to seeing him. It's like, I don't like the six two, but if it, if it gets him on the team, although, you know, we could easily just drop Curry and have him there and that would be fine too.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um, And then George Ford. I... Why? Why?
Jarrod Dyke: I call Bortho, I say Bortho the bimbo, like half jokingly, but I truly think he's an idiot.
Grumpy Old Prop: Why? why
Jarrod Dyke: I truly think he's an idiot. And this is going to, he will not be a coach that can lead this team to a World Cup final. And people are like, well, why we always talk about England being in a World Cup final?
Jarrod Dyke: We talk about it because they probably have, no, they definitely have the most talent within country, bar none. And that ah that includes the South Africans. Yes, I know the South Africans have a lot of talent, and there's no denying that.
Jarrod Dyke: They're back-to-back champions for a reason.
Grumpy Old Prop: a
Jarrod Dyke: No shit. The problem with England has always been performance and picking the wrong players. It's always been those two things.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: They've never found a way to get both down.
Grumpy Old Prop: And it's the style of play.
Jarrod Dyke: or but Apart from 2003, excuse me.
Grumpy Old Prop: They're it's also ah just a slowness to adapt. Like, um oh fuck.
Jarrod Dyke: Agreed.
Grumpy Old Prop: was it but were we Was it you and me talking about the the the drop goal thing? Or was I talking, I might've been talking to Jess about it. I can't remember. i was talking to with somebody who who knows rugby um about it.
Grumpy Old Prop: And they're they were just like, why does England love a drop goal? And I was like because they want won them a World Cup.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, you and I were talking about this.
Grumpy Old Prop: And it's one of those like, was that?
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, i remember this.
Grumpy Old Prop: ah Yeah, I was like, when you know, the song you first got laid to, you'll love it forever, no matter what. And it's like, so they're they're just in love with the three pointer a culturally.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: And Ford is is very involved in the past has been good at that. that
Jarrod Dyke: Right.
Grumpy Old Prop: But, but. I mean, he's not he's not there now anymore. And, like, he's 30, what, 32?
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: Like, play Marcus Smith. I know Finn might be, I guess, fit you know, Finn's hurt.
Jarrod Dyke: Finn's banged up, so he won't be available this week. They were hoping so, but sounds like not.
Grumpy Old Prop: Okay, so so just, like, ah what would make sense is actually... For this roster, you start Smith at 10, and now you have it if if Marcus has to come out.
Grumpy Old Prop: Okay, he can he you know then Ford comes in. That's fine. If you wanted to move or if you wanted to take Freddie Stewart out, then you just slide Marcus Smith back to 15.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: like This just gives you that many more options, and there's just no there's no point in George Ford starting this game. like yeah he's not he doesn't He's not getting valuable experience.
Grumpy Old Prop: against a weaker opponent, it's not going to be like, I don't know. There's no glory in it. So what's the point? Like, it's not like a nod to an old grizzled veteran.
Jarrod Dyke: More three points for George Ford to use.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, exactly. It's, it's kind of, and what's that going to do for the rest of the team? Cause he's still struggling. Like, you know, he's going to need, especially with the, you look at the centers and, and Frazier Dingwall,
Grumpy Old Prop: is is a decent runner.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, Dingwall confused me.
Grumpy Old Prop: Freeman is not a distributor though. So it's like, you don't have this ball is going to, it's going to be hard other than Ford just kicking a, um you know, like having, having a kick pass to Fayoua Bosa or Arendelle. That's the only way they're going to get the ball.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, freeman I should say Freeman, you know, we'll, we'll, we'll make someone miss and then they'll, they'll, they'll have offload options, but yeah,
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: It's not going to get out there just to spin that ball wide to them.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: It's not the way it's going to work.
Jarrod Dyke: when When I was, i was yeah not that it really matters to predict an England team, but i put it I put an England team together before they dropped this one, and I had a Jomo at 12.
Grumpy Old Prop: I would have over Dingwall.
Jarrod Dyke: And I wish, yeah, I wish they had done that.
Grumpy Old Prop: Dingwall's also, isn't Dingwall also 30? You
Jarrod Dyke: He's in his 30s. No, he's 26.
Grumpy Old Prop: you know, he's 20.
Jarrod Dyke: Wow, he looks way older than he is.
Grumpy Old Prop: What the fuck?
Jarrod Dyke: ah
Grumpy Old Prop: ah Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: sorry Sorry, but not sorry, Dings.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. I was not familiar with their game that way. i like I mean, I just know, I feel like he's been around for like 10 years. So um it feels that way anyway.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: So um yeah I thought he was older than he was. I thought he was i thought he was like 30.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: And i I, this would be a game I would have considered.
Grumpy Old Prop: He's only a year older than Jomo. Okay. Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I know, but Ajoma's a better player.
Grumpy Old Prop: okay Yeah, then well, there's that. Yeah. I'm happy to see no Henry Slade. that's That's a step forward.
Jarrod Dyke: Same. Same.
Grumpy Old Prop: and um And then again, um wise is Ben Spencer on the roster?
Jarrod Dyke: But the sixth. Yeah. And the sixth two just doesn't make sense to me.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: So I saw... We'll talk about this and then we'll wrap up England. Did you see the comments from Gusskit about Marcus Smith being a Maverick?
Grumpy Old Prop: No.
Jarrod Dyke: um So Gusskit's opinion, and it's a shitty opinion, is that Marcus needs to adapt better to England's play and not go off the cuff so much.
Jarrod Dyke: The counter to that is... I think Marcus Smith could be a top two fly half in the world if England were willing to play a style that suits him.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: And really, what's going to win you more when it counts?
Grumpy Old Prop: Like.
Jarrod Dyke: Being able to have some bit of brilliance off the cuff. And by the way, remember who the biggest biggest maverick in rugby is right now. It's Finn Russell.
Jarrod Dyke: And he's the he's probably the best p fly half in the world. If he's not, he's top two.
Grumpy Old Prop: Probably. and And that's only because we haven't seen we haven't on the international stage, we haven't seen Mwanga in a bit.
Jarrod Dyke: Right. And he he could prove himself so to get back into that conversation soon, but we don't know.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: um So you're going to need more off-the-cuff brilliance to get to places you want to go than you're going to need a fucking highball.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm sorry.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Yep. And that that's jack is exactly what i was thinking of is that Marcus Smith likes to play with the ball and England likes to play without the ball.
Jarrod Dyke: Are allergic to it.
Grumpy Old Prop: and and And it's just like, read the... like That's what I mean by they're behind the times. like That's not the way the game is played now.
Jarrod Dyke: here No.
Grumpy Old Prop: And so if you find your... There's certain keys that I look at, like which is you play your best players. And if you have to, you change your style to fit their strengths.
Grumpy Old Prop: it's not This isn't fucking rocket science. If you have to play subpar talent...
Jarrod Dyke: No.
Grumpy Old Prop: Because they'll do exactly what you want them to do.
Jarrod Dyke: Even if it's not going to necessarily do anything brilliant.
Grumpy Old Prop: Well, that's the thing. Like, is it going to win? And the answer is generally no. Like, yeah, you'll beat you. Because as you said, they have ridiculous talent. Ford is a, is he's not a bad 10. He's just not ah a great 10.
Jarrod Dyke: He's not an international tent anymore.
Grumpy Old Prop: And he's not an international 10 anymore. So it's, Yeah, i' am like I'm struggling to see where who who else would play Ford.
Jarrod Dyke: Sanderson and Borthwick.
Grumpy Old Prop: That's about it. like maybe like I think just given the the general shit that is Wales, he'd probably start there. um
Grumpy Old Prop: But like any other Six Nations squad, yeah I don't think he would even start for Georgia.
Jarrod Dyke: a Says a lot.
Grumpy Old Prop: Because they have a damn good 10 themselves that I think they would take over hint over Ford.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: So, come on. Like, what are you doing that you're you're playing weaker players um just because they fit your system? And it's like, well, your system hasn't really won.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: I don't know.
Jarrod Dyke: Someone pointed out Wales has has won the Six Nations more recently than England.
Grumpy Old Prop: Fuck that. That's hilarious.
Jarrod Dyke: I agree. Agreed.
Grumpy Old Prop: And also let's note that we um this is, ah it's not the World Cup Six Nations. It's the pre-World Cup Six Nations.
Grumpy Old Prop: So you're really solidifying your team here for, I'm sorry, for who's going to be in that World Cup squad.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: And again, that's why guys like Ford probably, you like you want to bring along, you know, you want to bring along your young talent. And actually i did the, did the math real quick. Just so so before we move on, um England have nine players older than 30 on the roster and four of them are front rows. So they've got four, you know, and five other people that outside the front row. And and to me, you know, over, over 30 year olds in the front row are kind of what you'd expect.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, I can agree with
Grumpy Old Prop: And they actually surprisingly have 11 under 25s on the roster with one being on the front row. um So it's like,
Jarrod Dyke: that. Sella?
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: to it must be Sala. That'll be interesting to see him when he gets rolled out there.
Grumpy Old Prop: So they've got some, they've got some young guys that they're working, that they're at least having on, on the, in the peripheries.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: So like, that's, that's not bad, but there's some guys that need to go.
Jarrod Dyke: I just...
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. No argument.
Grumpy Old Prop: Like, um'm you know ah you know, Slade and Daly are probably great to have in the in the camp, but they better not see the field.
Jarrod Dyke: Should not make any rosters.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Should not make any rosters whatsoever.
Grumpy Old Prop: And Jack Van Port Vliet should probably play in the, should have been playing in the Wales match. Again, another under 25 who, you know, next year, is Ben Spencer really going to be on your on your World Cup roster?
Jarrod Dyke: I don't think so.
Grumpy Old Prop: um No, it's Jack.
Jarrod Dyke: I think Mitchell is seasoned enough by far and clearly good enough that he can be that steady hand and you can bring along some younger guys.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean.
Grumpy Old Prop: Like Jack Van Port Vliet, like start doing that.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Yep. Yep. No no argument on that one. Alright, let's move on to defending champs. France. big news out of them was, as everyone's talked about already is no Pinot, no Aldrich.
Grumpy Old Prop: hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Like, wow.
Grumpy Old Prop: But like, again.
Jarrod Dyke: I can, and I can totally get behind it. I get it.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I love it.
Jarrod Dyke: You know, you know, I get it.
Grumpy Old Prop: I love that. I think that's such a a smart idea. um Play guys who, you know, see what you got. Like, because hell, you know, they're good, but they really, reached it you know, they haven't really reached their full potential yet.
Jarrod Dyke: No. They have two obviously very talented young outside backs starting for them this coming week.
Grumpy Old Prop: hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Tomorrow, actually, as we as we record this. just talked about who I thought i had a really good tournament last year. Kind of fell into the cracks during...
Grumpy Old Prop: It's two days from now. It's it's Wednesday, not Thursday.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, but they're they're playing tomorrow.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, fuck, they are.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
Grumpy Old Prop: Son of a bitch.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Because of the Olympic opening ceremony.
Grumpy Old Prop: Ah, okay. Fuck. All right.
Jarrod Dyke: So we'll be we'll be doing the sheet tomorrow for those of you are listening for fantasy purposes. um Yeah. ah I think that Saga actually was hurt for Autumn Nations.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: So for the Autumn Series. So that's that. And I love that. um Jolly Bear back at 10. While we don't have Intimac available is still pretty solid. And we've talked about Ramos being just able to slide forward. It's good.
Jarrod Dyke: Gujo, the... the um He's been playing mostly midfield for Toulouse, but he looks really good. He's on the bench start this week. That should be interesting.
Jarrod Dyke: um Interesting. i know Luku's hurt. Interesting that they brought in Serra for tomorrow and not the young guy, Debugna.
Jarrod Dyke: um I don't know if I... to Much to the to what you said about Spencer, like... I don't know if you need to really, although DeBond is 31, so he's not you.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, they're both 31.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, so we're not missing much there, I guess. But he I don't think he's been capped. If he has, then I don't know.
Grumpy Old Prop: But also, I also think that this is load management, too.
Jarrod Dyke: Possibly.
Grumpy Old Prop: in ah in ah In a major way. Like, does, you know, does Luku need this? He's seasoned enough.
Jarrod Dyke: and he's And he's banged up anyway, so they don't need they they don't need him here.
Grumpy Old Prop: and he's bang Like, give him a fucking rest. Aldrete, kind of similar. I think he is. Well, didn't he, like, didn't he sit for?
Jarrod Dyke: he did a sabbatical last year or the year before uh-huh
Grumpy Old Prop: But, like, he's been kind of banged up for for his club, too.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah i think i think he did it he did um like a big sabbatical after 23 so he did it just so he was like he came back in time for six nations last for that following 24 but absent
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: was very absent
Jarrod Dyke: from like La Rochelle up until that point.
Grumpy Old Prop: m
Jarrod Dyke: So, yeah, he's another guy that's taking it on the chin pretty hard more often than not.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Give him a rest. he doesn't He doesn't need to be a part of this, and they don't need him to be a part of this.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: So...
Jarrod Dyke: No.
Grumpy Old Prop: They've got a solid back row without him.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: um So it's like, yeah, and and it's, again, it's Six Nations, and I'm not diminishing it. It's a great it's a great tournament. But we are now in the point of of the cycle where it's ramp up to the World Cup again.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: And then it's like, okay, so get your guy a rest. He doesn't need to play right now. He can chill. um Same with you know um same with Pino do you really need to see Damien Pinot is there is this gonna yeah so why not put deport hair out there and Gorge and and like all these guys who you know 2320 fuck and you know this funny because last time ah last week I was talking about uh um
Jarrod Dyke: You know what he can do at this point.
Jarrod Dyke: on 25, yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: Fay Woboso not being BLBRA. And then i when I was looking through this and I was like, oh, you know, Fay Woboso is 23, so whatever. BLBRA is 22. So it's like, yeah, okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's wild.
Grumpy Old Prop: Point stands still. Yeah. yeah
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, absolutely wild. yeah a lot of Yeah, they brought in a lot of under 25 outside backs, so give credit.
Grumpy Old Prop: And to this, France, France, yes. So France have nine, ah just like England, have nine players over 30, but five of them are in the front row.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: So there's only four sprinkled without there. And that includes Ramos, who's 30, and both the backup Scrum halves.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: um So it's like their over 30s are either front rows or their, you know, or Oliven, who's now a lock instead of a, it's a fantastic decision.
Jarrod Dyke: Which is a smart but decision to make, honestly.
Grumpy Old Prop: And so you're bringing along and then they have 13 under
Grumpy Old Prop: under twenty five And zero of them are in the front row. So it's not like they're bringing it like they they have a pretty seasoned front row. um There's one guy who is a 25. There is a 25 year old prop, but he's not under 25. Oh, I'm sorry. There's one. There's sorry.
Grumpy Old Prop: um Tatafu is 23. um
Jarrod Dyke: okay, there you go
Grumpy Old Prop: So there's one. Yeah. So there's one in the front row and they just sprinkled without. And they're also playing them like both their wings.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Babis.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: On the subject of front rows, we do need to acknowledge the unfortunate but forced retirement of Winnie Antonio.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: like Man, that is just a devastating hit to the rugby community in general. Yeah. Nothing but respect has been spoken about this man since he since he went into a hospital, and that says so much about who he is.
Grumpy Old Prop: he
Jarrod Dyke: and you know Not only from teammates, but from opponent but from opposition guys that are coming from other countries. and just yeah they're They're glowing remarks about the guy. and Shit, all you can do is hope the the guy is going to come out of it without many major health issues.
Grumpy Old Prop: hey
Jarrod Dyke: and you was able to live a life after rugby because that is just scary ass shit
Grumpy Old Prop: It is. um um I suspect um in a few years we'll be seeing we'll still be we'll be seeing him at at some matches and he's going to be probably a bit of a skinny mini.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: yeah he but yeah he might be a bit of a more of a beanpole than he is right now i would imagine
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. there's There's actually a couple... you know if NFL former lineman who he should probably talk to who have done very similar things. I can't remember the one guy. who I think he played for the for the Panthers.
Grumpy Old Prop: um But he was a left tackle. he showed up on like um NFL media at some point, like I think two years after he retired. And dude was like skinny.
Grumpy Old Prop: And he's like, yeah, i didn't I don't have to lift any more professionally.
Jarrod Dyke: ah
Jarrod Dyke: no yeah yeah you don't have like you don't have to do all that stuff you your diet doesn't have to be so tailored to
Grumpy Old Prop: so
Jarrod Dyke: you know increasing muscle mass or whatever, like that. you can just live a normal life.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: You can work out however you feel like and do do it as you see fit as opposed to, you having to listen to someone that's scientifically doing something that's going to make you a better player.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Truth, well, truth, yeah, it's hard. It's hard work and it can be hard on your body.
Grumpy Old Prop: It can be. So, um, you obviously all the love to weenie Antonio and and his, and his family and, um, And yeah, like, it you know, best wishes and and you've, you know, done ah done a fucking great job.
Grumpy Old Prop: So.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah yeah you've you've earned it man go go rest all right um let's kick on to Ireland um Ireland have named their team for the week already um for tomorrow yes um and you know when we were when I was thinking about this i was like oh this will be an interesting conversation who's gonna play 10 well
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: They have. Well, for tomorrow.
Jarrod Dyke: We have the answer already. Pernigas gets the nod. And it was all it was weird for me because they've not had... None of the teams have had great outings this fall so far.
Grumpy Old Prop: No.
Jarrod Dyke: ah For me, it would have been The best form of the three would have been Byrne for me personally.
Jarrod Dyke: But I can understand why you lean Prendergast because he is the most talented of the three, I believe.
Grumpy Old Prop: I wouldn't argue that.
Jarrod Dyke: But that's, you know, that's, he needs to pick it the fuck up.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. And, but like any of them do.
Jarrod Dyke: For real.
Grumpy Old Prop: And so I think this is one of those, okay, like let's throw him out and he's the the youngest. So let's throw him out there against France and, and, and again, give him, give him a test, see how it, how it all works out for him.
Grumpy Old Prop: um I'm not opposed to, I don't think he's that bad overall. And,
Grumpy Old Prop: you know this but this i have big i have bigger structural issues with this team than um than just that again if if we're going by the by that over 30 under 25 they're 11 over thirty s and and just just three of them are front row so they have eight guys throughout the team and that does not include bundyaki who is sent home um
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, there.
Jarrod Dyke: I
Grumpy Old Prop: Which until that happened, their centers were all over 30, every single one.
Grumpy Old Prop: And so now they have, they brought in a 23 year old and now, so now they're up to eight under 25s with two of them being in the front row. So it's like, they have five non front row under 25s.
Grumpy Old Prop: And like, you know, you look at the other teams in England, you know, so far that we've done, you're going to have 10,
Jarrod Dyke: think both of those under 25 front rows are in this game too.
Grumpy Old Prop: They might be because, well, that's just because also because they've got so many injuries at that front row position, so they don't have much choice.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, they've been banged up there.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, Milne's under 25, isn't he?
Grumpy Old Prop: I believe so. Let me go back to that.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, and I know Clark, and I'm pretty sure Clark is.
Grumpy Old Prop: No, Milne's 27. 25, so he's not under 25.
Jarrod Dyke: Milne's 26. Okay, older than I thought.
Grumpy Old Prop: clarkson's twenty five so heat it's not under twenty five
Jarrod Dyke: There you go. But he's still there.
Grumpy Old Prop: But he's still there.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Bielam is somehow... where Hold on, where was that? He's 34. Fuck. I thought he was younger than that, but matt that might have just been the hair.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, did too, but I realized he was an old fuck after a little while.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, their two front rows who are under 25 are Jack Boyle, a prop, and...
Jarrod Dyke: That's right, that's right.
Grumpy Old Prop: Wait, because they brought someone in. um a Billy Bowen from Canuck.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Yeah, okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: He was 20. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Baby, Jesus.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Oh, but because Jack Boyle um was, oh, Jack Boyle withdrew.
Jarrod Dyke: ye
Grumpy Old Prop: So it was a pup for pup replacement.
Jarrod Dyke: Jesus. Yeah. And injuries aside, I think you could, i think you could forgive Andy Farrell for throwing in some younger guys in this situation because of the injuries.
Jarrod Dyke: And it would also give him what he needs, which is some freshening up of this team. I think we've talked about it in the fall. Like there's, there's no reason James Ryan should be in this team. Um, Jack Conan, same thing.
Jarrod Dyke: Um,
Grumpy Old Prop: I'd almost say jacob Jacob Stockdale and he's starting against France.
Jarrod Dyke: Same. Yeah, agree. so the one the the So there's the brightest of bright spots for me so far in this team, this team in particular, this 23, is in the back three.
Jarrod Dyke: It's not for Stockdale, obviously, but Osborne and O'Brien. I like both of them a lot.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm. Me too.
Jarrod Dyke: I think to ah Tommy O'Brien had a great fall, I i felt.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: So i think he's I think if he continues to just be a dog the way he has been, there's no reason that he's not going to be on this team going going all the way until Australia. So as long as he's healthy.
Jarrod Dyke: And there's got to be a point where you decide on the flip side of it. There's got to be a point where you decide okay, who else could be our hooker besides these two Lundstrommen? I know they've given Herring a look and he's not great. i get that.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Um, monster haven't really, and, and maybe that's more onto the provinces, which they need to give them hell for him. Just be like, guys, show us someone besides these guys to, that can be, you know, an Irish international hooker because beyond the three names I just mentioned, there's not much.
Jarrod Dyke: and i know that And I know there's talent coming through as well because I've seen some of the U-20 games and they've had some good-looking players play wearing that t-shirt.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, but I mean, even still, Kelleher and Sheehan, 28 27, respectively, they could like they could be the hookers in the 2031 World Cup cycle.
Jarrod Dyke: so
Grumpy Old Prop: So it's not like...
Jarrod Dyke: I don't want to know if I want both of those guys coming to the U.S.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, no, but one of them, at least one of them will. And so it's like, you've got a guy, you know, you've got ah a little bit of a future there. I think the the center to me, that's why I specifically mentioned the centers too, is is awful.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, midfields. Yeah, that's a problematic for sure. I agree.
Grumpy Old Prop: Awful.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: I don't know why Bundy Aki was selected.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, they have.
Grumpy Old Prop: dont you know i know they sent him home, but like, what the fuck, dude?
Jarrod Dyke: I don't either.
Grumpy Old Prop: what you what Like Tom Farrell, you're bringing Tom Farrell in?
Jarrod Dyke: No, I'm going to agree on that one.
Grumpy Old Prop: He's 32 and he has two caps. Like what?
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, you got them both in the fall.
Grumpy Old Prop: What? Why? You don't have anybody young? I mean, this is this is really like, this is what I'm worried about with Ireland. You know, everybody, they we you mentioned last week about them peaking too early.
Grumpy Old Prop: This is a team that some of these guys peaked like two years ago as players.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: And now it's like they're on the downswing and they there's nobody to replace them.
Jarrod Dyke: No.
Jarrod Dyke: no
Grumpy Old Prop: um And this is the problem with, you know, like, again, what you're seeing now, Johnny Sexton, great player, don't want to take anything away from him. But, like, could you have been playing, you know, Crowley and Frawley more earlier so that they're not, you know, they're they're actually a little bit more seasoned where to the point where Sam Pendergrass at 22 has more caps than, you know, every like, your 28-year-old Kieran Frawley.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: o
Grumpy Old Prop: he's got four more caps than him.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: And actually he's got as many caps as burn and Frawley who were both, I'm sorry, 26, 28 combined.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: And Crowley's at 30 caps, which is great.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: But most of that's in, you know, coming off the bench and stuff. And it's like, you can't, that's, you know, again, kind of back to the mistake England are making with, with Ford. It's like, you can't just play someone just cause they're your guy.
Grumpy Old Prop: Like it's yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, it's time to justify beyond that at this point.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. And now now you're looking at that with your centers. So so now you're you've turned over your your fly halves. what do you and And that's still not settled two years, and you know, half halfway through your World Cup cycle.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: And your centers are just, there's a there's nobody it looks like.
Grumpy Old Prop: so what the fuck? I mean, at least they brought in Postal Weight, who's 23.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I would have liked to see him on the bench. And obviously, you know, we both know we're not, neither of us are fans of the six too.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Well, maybe not first France. I get it. I get it versus France.
Jarrod Dyke: I do too. I can get that, but man, you gotta, you gotta get this guy some, some experience quick because Australia is not far away and you need guys with, you know,
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. He'll be needed. Australia's pretty far away.
Jarrod Dyke: you Not in terms of the...
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I know.
Jarrod Dyke: How many games you're going to see. Not in terms of how many games you're going get between now and then.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Game wise, was talking distance.
Jarrod Dyke: Calendar-wise, yes. Game-wise, no.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: No, no, no, you silly bitches. Alright, let's move on to the Azuri.
Jarrod Dyke: i
Jarrod Dyke: I want to be excited. And i was, i was extremely excited until we found out to our Disney.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Cause I thought for sure he was going to get some, get, get significant time in this one.
Grumpy Old Prop: But they've ah That's true. They've got some guys, though.
Jarrod Dyke: They do. Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: They've got some dogs. like I mean, love to see Pelo Odogwu out there. It feels like forever since I've seen him. um And he can play on the wing. We've seen what what he can do out there, too.
Grumpy Old Prop: In the past, though, that was quite a little bit ago, so who knows.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah yeah dure I'm thinking more DeRay and Pani don't know why the fuck Mike Yager called in and go away um hopefully we see more of those likes and and and we know we'll probably see plenty of Ioanni and Lina Manichello is absolutely brilliant on his on his way to France next year
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, that's kind of silly, but...
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: um I hope what we see more of, and that this is not a knock on Lamoureux, but I hope we see more of Zulani for Italy because push comes to shove. If I have one ah one of those guys to pick at seven, it's Zulani.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, but I would pick. i'd I'd pick Lamar at six.
Jarrod Dyke: And they they may, they may not.
Grumpy Old Prop: Because I'm wondering who, like.
Jarrod Dyke: Because they...
Grumpy Old Prop: who. who
Jarrod Dyke: Locatelli is 24. We could see him quite a bit.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. I mean, and that, that maybe that's the, maybe that's the thought, but um yeah, I don't know. Well, it'd be interesting to see when they, when they do put out a lineup, um how that looks.
Jarrod Dyke: o
Grumpy Old Prop: Cause you know, even, even Lorenzo Canone has, know, there's, there's, I mean, he's been excellent. So I'm guessing you're not going to replace him around, but at the same time, maybe they do.
Grumpy Old Prop: Maybe they want to see someone else. So they, I don't know. I'm not,
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. They were big on Izzakar for a while. We'll see if they actually.
Grumpy Old Prop: Not sure what Cassata is going to think here, but at the same time, we know what he wants to bring to the table and actually any of those guys. um that And that's why I would you know be be excited if it was Lamar, Giuliani, and and ah Lorenzo Canone as the back row.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
Grumpy Old Prop: I think that would be a lot of what I've seen from Cassata. That would be his style.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm hoping so. i was i was a little disappointed that he didn't give Totoro much more much more than he did in the fall.
Jarrod Dyke: But I kind of get it because he was still new and fresh and young and yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: nineteen Fuck, he's 19. Fuck you.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, he's a baby. He's a baby.
Grumpy Old Prop: I didn't realize he was that young.
Jarrod Dyke: He's a wee He's a wee one. So I yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: so i yeah
Grumpy Old Prop: we'll see ah We'll see more of him. i'm not I'm not that worried. It's just... I mean, it sucks for him. I feel bad. I'm not trying to... to to um to to Yeah, I'm
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I feel bad for him. That sucks.
Jarrod Dyke: same yeah so we'll see i i like a lot of it yeah it's true yeah yeah yeah um so it'll be interesting um
Grumpy Old Prop: But I don't think for me because I'm going to get to watch a lot more of him over the years. So I'm okay with it. I'm comfortable with this. I just, you know we'll see him in the fall, um I assume. Or maybe left next spring.
Jarrod Dyke: couple of times must be hurt.
Grumpy Old Prop: And for the record, they have four players over 30 with eight under 25.
Jarrod Dyke: don't see him on.
Grumpy Old Prop: So this is a um a very interesting mix.
Jarrod Dyke: Wow.
Grumpy Old Prop: A lot more guys in the middle and or, you know, just over 25, which is, you know, like the the Canone brothers.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: a hum
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: They've got guys who who will be around for a bit.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: And so this is this is
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, and I think that's kind of what they've been aiming for slowly, which I definitely respect.
Grumpy Old Prop: right
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah,
Jarrod Dyke: a couple of times I can't hurt. Dude's
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, he's got a, um yeah, and Riccioni hurt too, which is unfortunate.
Jarrod Dyke: just made a glass sometimes.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, we we kind of knew that was kind that that was gonna be the case because he didn't he hobble off against Newcastle or the week before that.
Grumpy Old Prop: But,
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, but... Or something. Yeah, and I know he's been not great, but I just... Same same thing. i think Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: he Well, he's been more durable the last two seasons or so than he was in the previous like two or three.
Grumpy Old Prop: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: i will say I'll give him that.
Grumpy Old Prop: i'm um I'm stuck with with the... You know, it's one of those, okay, you've you've had a decent run, but now it's, again, um little niggles here and there.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: And...
Jarrod Dyke: yeah oh they they got some They have at least one or two fairly youthful props, don't they?
Grumpy Old Prop: a
Grumpy Old Prop: um they have They only have one one front row under 25, and that's Muhammad Hassa, who's Not old, no.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Oh, the other new guy is 26. Okay, but it's not old, but not young. Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: And Spagnuolo, who's 25.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. oh That's right. Yeah. Yeah. i I actually like him a lot. Like there's like, there's good, good things coming in that one. Um, all right. Quickly. Let's move on to Scotland.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: It's the Scotland team.
Jarrod Dyke: Um,
Jarrod Dyke: it's the same story, different, different chapter, unfortunately. Um,
Jarrod Dyke: here's the thing. They're kind of stuck in the same boat that England is, and they don't have as much talent as England does.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: And that's bad news. And they've done, and they they have brought some guys in. Um, I see Freddie Douglas has made the squad here, although I think he's in that a team that, um, our group posted on earlier. So he won't be in the team for this coming weekend.
Jarrod Dyke: Um,
Jarrod Dyke: Which doesn't make sense to me because that's the team this is the team you play them against. they' play They're playing Italy, aren't they?
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, so... What the fuck?
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, like, I, there's, I'm just, I don't know.
Jarrod Dyke: Fergus isn't in the team. Yeah, i don't know.
Grumpy Old Prop: Okay, what I know is... Remember when... Back in the day when they were talking about how French... Because France were like really talented and had some great players. had Had played fun. But every so often... They were just... Every game they would just fuck it. And you knew they would.
Jarrod Dyke: They find a way to cock it up. Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: i feel like Scotland... They'll do the jobs. I feel like they'll do the jobs against the the the teams they should beat.
Jarrod Dyke: The bottom two. Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: And it's the teams that they could beat where they'll just like... They'll find a time just to poop themselves.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. They, they could, depending on how the, when, when things shake out when, when do they play, when do they play Ireland?
Jarrod Dyke: Towards the end, right? i think they're playing... Are they playing Ireland, like, last round?
Grumpy Old Prop: I'm looking at last round five. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, so they could beat Ireland then.
Grumpy Old Prop: In Ireland. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I don't know. It depends on what kind Ireland team develops over these next couple months here.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. It depends on what Ireland team falls apart. ah what What old guy crumbles on the field and then who do they have left?
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, right.
Jarrod Dyke: Exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: Right, so... It is a lot of the same but different.
Grumpy Old Prop: That would be fo that that also be terribly Scottish for them to go into Ireland. And because Ireland has has fallen apart, they win the Six Nations on the road in Ireland basically by default because um you know the whole Irish team is injured.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah right
Grumpy Old Prop: that's That's what I'm rooting for. Well, not rooting for the injuries, but I'm i'm i'm rooting for Scott, for the trolling.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah right no yeah i wish there was more i could say about this team it's not a lot surprises and a lot and you know a lot of the same but different and
Grumpy Old Prop: The trolling of it all.
Grumpy Old Prop: Like, I...
Grumpy Old Prop: Like, a lot to like, but it's what are we really going to get out of this team that's different from what we've seen gotten from them in the past.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Not much, sadly. right. um And then lastly, Wales. Just, yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Good luck, boys.
Jarrod Dyke: Godspeed. i mean, Tandy has to be smart here. He has to give guys chances that you know people were just allergic to before.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: you and And also stick with stick with guys in certain key positions. like I like Koslow and Dan Edwards. I think I like Dan Edwards just a tiny bit more in terms of their 10th shirt.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: And then they need to they need to find someone that's not either... Well, Morgan Williams is pretty young, isn't he?
Grumpy Old Prop: Looking for him. He is. now he's 28. But yeah, they got 31, 30, 28.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, he's not that young.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: trafficist they They need a a young body to fill in behind Tomas.
Grumpy Old Prop: Because that's not. That's not right there.
Grumpy Old Prop: right because that's not
Grumpy Old Prop: that's not great right there
Jarrod Dyke: No. No. Agreed. Yeah, how are we doing for under 25 breakdown for Wales?
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, you know, i didn't I didn't get to whales.
Jarrod Dyke: Do they have any?
Grumpy Old Prop: So let me do it real quick.
Jarrod Dyke: That's okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: They got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
Grumpy Old Prop: Just quick seven on over 30. And with one of them being in the front row, I'm sorry, three of them being the front row. So that seven, and you know, three of seven is not bad.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: Under 25.
Grumpy Old Prop: One, two, but one of them is Daffa Jenkins. i don't know if that counts. One, two,
Grumpy Old Prop: three. Ten. um
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: lot lot of them must be in the backs because don't think their forwards have a lot.
Grumpy Old Prop: um The forwards don't really have a lot. It was so Archie Griffin at prop. um
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm. Bath guy, yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, Daffa Jenkins, Freddie Thomas.
Jarrod Dyke: i might play I might play him a lot, honestly, in this in this term in this tournament.
Grumpy Old Prop: Who's that? Griffin?
Jarrod Dyke: Griffin.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. um And then a bunch in the back row with what Harry Deves, Alex Manor, 24 each. Actually, two in the front, row two in the back row.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: um Dan Edwards, 22. um
Jarrod Dyke: Yes.
Grumpy Old Prop: Louis Hennessy, who we saw last week at 21. Eddie James, 23.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mason 23.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: Blair Murray, 24. mason grady twenty three blare murray twenty four
Jarrod Dyke: Jesus, says I forget how young Mason Grady is sometimes.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Like they've got, they've like, and Louis Rees-Zamit is just 25 now. As of two days ago.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: There you go.
Grumpy Old Prop: So um
Grumpy Old Prop: they've got, they've got some, some young speed out there. you know, Josh Adams is on this team, but he should, he should never see the field.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: But Mason Grady, Rees-Zamit, Blair Murray. I'm good with that.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, yeah, I like a lot.
Grumpy Old Prop: Like as as ah as as a, you know, and you... um Although Hennessy, as we saw, can play wing too. I'm not sure where he where he fits on the international stage.
Grumpy Old Prop: But you've got guys who can play a little bit. So just like fucking let him play.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, one of our resident Welshman has been talking to Deves quite a bit in the back row as well, so I'm hopeful we'll see more of the likes of him and less the likes of Cracknell.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: you know
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, what what do you need cracknl what do you need to see from Cracknell here?
Jarrod Dyke: I don't need to see anything. I don't need to see Cracknell fill that red shirt at all, personally.
Grumpy Old Prop: No, i I'm not that interested in seeing him. I mean, put it this way, he was one of the the the the taggers that I was kind of interested in seeing going into this year. But having seen him and then you know the the other guys that they've had like Morrow, I don't really need to see Cracknell that much anymore.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Nope. Nope. Agreed.
Grumpy Old Prop: um Definitely want to see some from Freddie Thomas, though.
Jarrod Dyke: Agreed, agreed.
Grumpy Old Prop: Not so much Daffy Jenkins.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: you You can... No, Seamus, not you.
Jarrod Dyke: No, no, no.
Jarrod Dyke: Who wins?
Grumpy Old Prop: I think France wins.
Jarrod Dyke: Same.
Jarrod Dyke: The predictions thus far predict that it will be Le Crunch for the slam.
Grumpy Old Prop: I could see that happening. I don't see anybody else stopping France. And... um
Grumpy Old Prop: When do England play Ireland?
Jarrod Dyke: England don't need to play that well to beat the other teams, unfortunately.
Grumpy Old Prop: No. Although... I could still... like Round three, they play Ireland. I could see... Although that's at...
Grumpy Old Prop: The Twix.
Jarrod Dyke: its and It's in London, isn't it?
Grumpy Old Prop: The old Twix. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: So they'd probably win that.
Jarrod Dyke: That being the problem.
Grumpy Old Prop: But but Ireland could do the funniest thing possible.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. I don't have done that before. Oh, I'd laugh my ass off that happened.
Jarrod Dyke: All right. So
Jarrod Dyke: let's do extremely quickly because it's likely that we don't record between now and the start of Super Rugby. So let's just do like a couple words couple words on each team.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: I don't want to dive too deep into it because All Blacks rest and Australia rest and so movement movement is definitely going fuck with this, with all these teams to start, but we'll eventually be settled on.
Grumpy Old Prop: he
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh man. Yes.
Jarrod Dyke: We'll eventually get settled on all, on on everything, but let's just start with it. um Okay. ah Blues.
Grumpy Old Prop: Lost a lot. We're struggling even with, with the guys like losing i like Martell is, you know, just looking down their list. Tell you leaving is going to be a problem.
Jarrod Dyke: Last Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: They could probably recover from it, but again, the way they they were kind of playing, they were punching below their weight last year.
Jarrod Dyke: last season yep
Grumpy Old Prop: So I don't think that this helps them. I don't think that their additions or help them as much as their their leaves affect them.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: um Yeah, okay. Yeah, I agree. I can agree with that.
Grumpy Old Prop: So I'm looking at them not not doing great.
Jarrod Dyke: And Barrett's going be on Enforce All Blacks for us for the first few weeks as well. So, at all.
Grumpy Old Prop: off
Jarrod Dyke: ah Your guys, Chiefs.
Grumpy Old Prop: I have no fucking clue.
Jarrod Dyke: Brought in Temorfulav. That's fun.
Grumpy Old Prop: that Yes. i I do like that.
Jarrod Dyke: Had a great great year last year.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um.
Grumpy Old Prop: But, yeah. Let me see. I'm just looking at their their losses. Sean Stevenson kind of sucks, but that he's also been in and out anyway.
Grumpy Old Prop: um Leonard Brown's really the the one that I'm looking at.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm.
Grumpy Old Prop: but
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: But their team, so who am I thinking of? One second. They've also had a ridiculous... their Their young centers are are quite good anyway.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. To buy a runner.
Grumpy Old Prop: So, yeah, Tupai and Rona, they'll be all right. um and um And Faketti, getting Faketti in, that's that's an ad that'll help.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm
Grumpy Old Prop: So, you know, and they still have Leroy Cotter who kind of came on strong in the on the wing. So, and they still have Nanei Satoru.
Jarrod Dyke: You did.
Grumpy Old Prop: Again, McKenzie should be a 15.
Jarrod Dyke: Narawa. Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: Hopefully at this point they're like, okay, McKenzie, you're going to 15.
Jarrod Dyke: um I'm not betting it yet, but we'll see. New coach what new coach may have may have different ideas now.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: TBD. ah Crusaders.
Grumpy Old Prop: Again, Fanunuku back.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep, that's a big one.
Grumpy Old Prop: do
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, we know they're going to be good because that's just what they do.
Jarrod Dyke: That just seems to be how they they find ways. They find ways to be decent at the minimum and good most of the time.
Grumpy Old Prop: So...
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. From a fantasy perspective, I'm i' i'm kind of staying a away. But... You know, well, ah you know certain people aside, obviously. um
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: They're back three.
Grumpy Old Prop: But...
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. I just...
Jarrod Dyke: And Leo Willey had a great year last year too.
Grumpy Old Prop: He did too.
Jarrod Dyke: Give him give him the credit that he deserves.
Grumpy Old Prop: And I would i would expect that to to coulddu to continue going. And i've I've heard good things about... What's that guy? The the flanker you were mentioning? I'll let you say him. Liam Jack.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, oh the the second row. Yeah, he's a lock.
Grumpy Old Prop: always you Oh, I thought he was a flanker.
Jarrod Dyke: He's a lock.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, fuck.
Jarrod Dyke: Maybe he can do both.
Grumpy Old Prop: 251.
Jarrod Dyke: Who knows? Yeah, Chris tra chris Jack's nephew. His dad also played for the Crusaders as well, so...
Grumpy Old Prop: six seven two fifty one
Jarrod Dyke: He's 19, 18, something like that.
Grumpy Old Prop: He's 21.
Jarrod Dyke: He's 21. Okay, so there you go. Yeah, yeah. So he'll the the pedigree is good.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I guess he's a lot.
Jarrod Dyke: let's see We'll see if it comes through on the field.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: It'll be interesting. um We skipped over Australia team, Brumbies.
Grumpy Old Prop: That's all right. um I think edmed's at meds at 10, I think that instantly improves their, their team, but
Jarrod Dyke: Edmonds at 10 now. Interesting. Interesting.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: How much?
Jarrod Dyke: L'Olysia might have something to say about that, but...
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Wait, who might have something to say?
Jarrod Dyke: L'Olysia might have had something to say about that, but...
Grumpy Old Prop: um Well, yeah, exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: He's not there anymore, obviously.
Grumpy Old Prop: so
Jarrod Dyke: That makes louis losing L'Olysia way easier, for sure.
Grumpy Old Prop: It does absolutely does. I think this is actually a step up for them. um and For, for those of us, for those of you who've been listening to us since last year, you know that I'm a, I'm on the, the Tain Ed bandwagon.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: Can't confirm.
Grumpy Old Prop: I think, i I think he should be there. Australia's 10 to going forward, but that's, you know, maybe certainly when, as we get into the next world cup cycle, he should be getting that shot if he's not getting at this one.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um,
Grumpy Old Prop: They're still going to play Andy Muirhead for every game, which will be interesting.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Well, Tom Wright's out for a little while, so he's they need they're going to need to fill that factory somehow.
Grumpy Old Prop: That sucks.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: That does suck.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, that'll be tough.
Grumpy Old Prop: So I don't know.
Jarrod Dyke: No, a town no, no, that'll be interesting.
Grumpy Old Prop: They're going to be. Yeah, they're not. a I mean. Yeah, their centers are are hurting. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. If saps, it's going to end up being the answer. i I think I'm a little scared for them in that in that department for sure.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yikes. Good luck storming the castle.
Jarrod Dyke: This is TBD. Um,
Grumpy Old Prop: Hopefully see we see more of Kale this year than we did last year. I know he was hurt.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, i'm sure I'm sure I'll be starting at least to hit the year off. Druah.
Grumpy Old Prop: I think they've... you know Losing Ravitamata is... is
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. But they they always seem to fight. like they where They had Revalvo, and then they lost him.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: and then they had And then River Tamanda kind of put his hand up and said, no worries, guys, I'm here. And so I'm sure they'll fight again.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: And then the more the most recent news, and George and talked about this on Sunday, Vrami Vakatawa has signed for them.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm. OK.
Jarrod Dyke: spent this past year just dicking around in Fiji club rugby has now, you know, get decided he's gotten himself right.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And he wants to go back to the professional game. And that's not going good news for anybody that's staying across from him.
Grumpy Old Prop: That's true. That'll be fun to watch.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: um I mean, there's they're they're going to be fun. We know that. um you know it doesn't matter who they who they lose, who they gain. they're they They have a pretty good talent base and they've got their, hopefully, institutional knowledge down that they can bring in you know the new guys and just get them going. So a lot to like there.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah absolutely yeah no
Grumpy Old Prop: I think they're going to make some noise just because they've they've gotten that another year of professional rugby under their belt.
Jarrod Dyke: yep yep agreed um who was i going to there sorry um islanders
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, they they made the the the one ad that
Jarrod Dyke: I was waiting to see if you caught that.
Grumpy Old Prop: everyone here is going to love
Grumpy Old Prop: um Of course, I'm i'm talking about Tomas Lavani.
Jarrod Dyke: like yeah i was I was like, oh, Ben's going to be excited about that ad. Yeah,
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, man. As if they they didn't get enough cards. um was Yeah, guys.
Jarrod Dyke: I don't need help, guys. they don't You don't need help doing that, guys.
Grumpy Old Prop: What are you doing? What are you doing? um Yeah, I feel like a lot of more a talent went out the door than came in, and that's a problem because they weren't that good to begin with.
Jarrod Dyke: Right. Because they lost, did they lose hasty?
Grumpy Old Prop: They lost Hastie, they lost Gilbert, they lost Tuge.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: But they got LaVanini.
Jarrod Dyke: Beats me, man. Yeah, I'm not sure that was the...
Grumpy Old Prop: And Rhys-John Passatoa. Let's not forget Rhys-John Passatoa.
Jarrod Dyke: Pass the towel. Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: mean, Tavao's not bad. I'm not you know not trying to...
Jarrod Dyke: Talval is interesting, but yeah, that'll help shore up their front row a little bit.
Grumpy Old Prop: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I like Pasitoa a lot. He just hasn't quite caught. And, know, I've... i Yeah, oh, he's ah he's a f freaking...
Grumpy Old Prop: Tao Vau is also 35. Fuck. He's so... Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: He's a horse. and He's a war horse for sure.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, Passato is 24.
Jarrod Dyke: No question. um
Grumpy Old Prop: So...
Jarrod Dyke: He's still got time. Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. But still.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I watched him on the...
Grumpy Old Prop: but still i think it I think it's problematic if you're a New Zealand team and you're bringing in third-tier Australian fly-half.
Jarrod Dyke: Australian.
Grumpy Old Prop: You...
Jarrod Dyke: You get issues. Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: You've got problems, bud.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Nope. No argument out of me.
Jarrod Dyke: No argument out of me. Speaking of force.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um, brought in some, inle oil I mean, I see George bridge and I immediately perked my ears up because I remember, you know, from five years ago when he was unplayable.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um, but yeah, exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: he's 30 we were talking about this on the on Sunday he's 30 hmm
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. He's on, he's on the the back nine and, I'm not really that, yeah, I'm not that impressed with what they brought in, but maybe they're bringing in guys that they can build a, you know, of you know what what kind of what um the Drew have done, but in the Australian way.
Jarrod Dyke: ah well because Potter has jumped ship that's probably the one notable loss i I'm assuming he's going to fill that role back there with him
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: um
Grumpy Old Prop: They lost George Pullman, which is sad think.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Because that's that's that's just a total loss right there.
Grumpy Old Prop: That's horrible.
Jarrod Dyke: um Hurricanes.
Grumpy Old Prop: I'll let you take this one.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. um There is a lot of good. um Pooj going out the door is not awesome, but also we are okay in midfield, so I'm not too worried about it.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yes,
Jarrod Dyke: We
Grumpy Old Prop: he has.
Jarrod Dyke: still have Roygaard. I don't see it. You know, Josh Morby has has returned as well.
Grumpy Old Prop: yes he has
Jarrod Dyke: but Josh Morby is um more bad, news more probably more bad news for the likes of like Finny and Ofo, who was definitely going to have to keep pace to keep his time up because he's also on his way out the door heading to Newcastle.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: So there's that. And then, yes, we have, a despite not having Artie anymore, we have a really good back row. And I'm excited about that. Like, that's, yeah. And it doesn't need to include Brad Shields ever, although he busted his thumb, I guess, this past weekend. So we won't see him for a little bit at least.
Jarrod Dyke: But yeah, like, Lockeye, Dewey, Yosei, your read Yes, please. Yes, please all day. Brett Cameron doesn't need to do anything crazy at 10.
Jarrod Dyke: He does not. He just needs to be there and be able to move the ball. That's it.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: And kick his belt and kick his goals. That's it. That's all he needs to do. He doesn't need to do anything crazy. There's so much talent outside of him.
Grumpy Old Prop: Just move the ball.
Jarrod Dyke: but
Grumpy Old Prop: Get the ball to the fast guy into space.
Jarrod Dyke: Just move the ball. You know, Jordy's right there. you don't need to do anything wild. He can help. Like, yeah, Jordy's a horse. I can't i can't explain.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: i can't explain what kind of a monster that that guy is. If I need to, then you're not paying attention. That's for sure. So I'm i'm hopeful um the team will go as Brett Cameron does. But, again, as long as he doesn't go and try and overdo himself,
Jarrod Dyke: They'll be fine. They'll be fine. They'll be competitive. They'll be somewhere top six without a doubt.
Jarrod Dyke: Moana.
Grumpy Old Prop: I hope they can achieve what Drua did. um kind of I don't like the amount of turnover they've had, though.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, they've had a lot.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: Well, my payback is interesting.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yes. I mean, it's not like they yeah it's not like they they they didn't bring in good players. It's just...
Jarrod Dyke: What went out is annoying at the minimum.
Grumpy Old Prop: What went out is a little bit annoying. um
Jarrod Dyke: Tamiflava being the big one for me.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. um wow
Jarrod Dyke: hurts. Yeah,
Grumpy Old Prop: Tawala hurts a little bit too. I think he was a pretty good glue guy. um And Pataphilo was not terrible.
Jarrod Dyke: he was a solid dude.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. yep
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, but at the same time, they they were they were catching on. it was They're not an easy game no matter what. So...
Jarrod Dyke: Not anymore, no.
Grumpy Old Prop: Again, i'm I'm hoping another year of professional rugby helps them. that's That's all I can really say. I think they have some good players, as you you know as you noted.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: they They did bring in some talent, so it's like, all right, make it work.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: That's always been their problem is they've had good talent, decent talent anyway, but getting them to play a cohesive style...
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Grumpy Old Prop: And that does go back to that, you know, you let your players play the way they want to play, but you can't just be ill-disciplined and causing problems. and And against a team that's more disciplined, it's going to be problematic.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. No, no, no. Don't go doing that. Don't go doing that. Reds.
Grumpy Old Prop: Lost a decent amount.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um...
Jarrod Dyke: But they brought in Connor Gordon.
Grumpy Old Prop: They did bring in
Jarrod Dyke: That move confuses me. because who's So I need to look at this. Who's going to play 10 for the Taz this year? Because they don't have Ed Med.
Grumpy Old Prop: Hold on.
Jarrod Dyke: Who's putting on that shirt for them this year?
Grumpy Old Prop: Let me see who's on their squad. if If this is accurate.
Jarrod Dyke: DiBrasini? Really?
Grumpy Old Prop: Debra's ending. Hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: That's your answer to that? boston i know they liked Lawson Creighton a lot, and I wasn't overly impressed with him, though.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, it's probably going to be Creighton.
Grumpy Old Prop: who
Jarrod Dyke: I'll say that.
Grumpy Old Prop: But also then, like...
Grumpy Old Prop: Who's your... but ah So going back to that, though, but then who... like Is Tom Lina that not good?
Jarrod Dyke: I didn't think so. I thought he was really good. think he did pretty well this summer, so i was
Grumpy Old Prop: So when and so what if what if they're bringing Carter Gordon back to play 15?
Jarrod Dyke: Maybe. That's not outside the realm of possibility.
Grumpy Old Prop: or Or they're going to move line at a 15. Because he's got some speed to him too.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, but that's that's a possibility. Leaving Ben Ballabal, the forgotten man, that's for sure. um They're going to be without Wilson for like six weeks. He had his knee scoped.
Jarrod Dyke: So I know...
Grumpy Old Prop: I thought Volavola left.
Jarrod Dyke: that No, he's there, I think, and for the Reds.
Grumpy Old Prop: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: He might have switched teams, but he's there.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, no, there he is Okay. Maybe I was looking, maybe I saw a Vola Vola earlier in in the transfers and.
Jarrod Dyke: So, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Just to get past him, which I wouldn't blame you. It's not that big a deal.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And Tate, they're going to be missing Tate for like at least half the season, which sucks.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Um... um And then, yeah, then Taz, um I think 10's their problem. I think if Creighton doesn't work out, then they're fucked.
Jarrod Dyke: Because Depressini is nothing to really get too excited about.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. No. And
Grumpy Old Prop: I don't think they brought in some, you know, too much great talent. I mean, it's nice that, you know, Samu is coming back.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, that's...
Grumpy Old Prop: Potter isn't that much of a ah get. Blythe, I think, is a big get. um
Jarrod Dyke: and I'm not a big Blythe fan myself. Nope.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, I'm sorry. I was thinking, you know what? i was thinking some I was thinking Angus Bell. I just saw the Angus B.
Jarrod Dyke: Nope.
Grumpy Old Prop: Nope, never mind. Scratch that.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm watching bell Angus Bell right now. He's playing for All-Star.
Grumpy Old Prop: That's right.
Jarrod Dyke: Moananu, the guy that came over from Crusaders, is interesting.
Jarrod Dyke: Fairly young hooker, and then you got the old fucking full-off thing coming in. So... I don't know about that one. That's an interesting one. And ASY is there too now.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Although...
Grumpy Old Prop: Which, but again, I'm not that I'm,
Jarrod Dyke: Well, I think he... I guess he and Amatisera got into a fight last week and Amatisera broke a bone in his cheek.
Jarrod Dyke: So Amatisera is suspended from the team as far as I understand it. And ASY is recovering from from that.
Grumpy Old Prop: Injured. Great.
Jarrod Dyke: So there's that. And then I mean, I love Max Jorgensen, but man, that he's going to need a lot of help.
Grumpy Old Prop: He is. Again, I think it's going you know, I think we're looking at a another Kiwi win.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: I don't, that's probably going to be Crusaders because Blues aren't, I don't, I'm not impressed. Chiefs are going to chief.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: um Even if like they get to the finals, are they going to throw a you know, are they going to, are they going fire a shot? Although, you know, they did a little bit this past, this last one, but I'm not.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. So I don't know. And Highlanders, come on.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, no, Highlanders have so of the of the Kiwi-based teams, is the Highlanders the only one that doesn't make top six?
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. um No, wait.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Sorry, Blues have a shot to to finish outside of the top six.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Okay. Would you put another Australia team in there? Would you put one of the island teams in there?
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean... and no So I think Drua will make it.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: um But Blues dropping may give Moana a chance to get in there.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: Because like Reds, I think, are the best Australian team.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. So you think, you think they're the only Australian team that gets in at that point then?
Grumpy Old Prop: Brumby's have a shot, too.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Fun times.
Grumpy Old Prop: So I think it's probably... you know well Chiefs, Crusaders, yes. probably I think bump Brumby's Reds, yes. And then Druah and...
Jarrod Dyke: The mighty hurricanes.
Grumpy Old Prop: her Oh, hurricanes. That's true. I forgot. I forgot about the hurricanes because I was leaving them to you. So um yeah, they're up there.
Jarrod Dyke: There
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. So that's it. Then that's probably the top six right there.
Jarrod Dyke: you go. Cool. All right.
Jarrod Dyke: So let's do Pick'Em and then we'll GTFO here.
Jarrod Dyke: All right. Tomorrow, France and Ireland.
Grumpy Old Prop: France.
Jarrod Dyke: Same. I'm not impressed with the Ireland team at all.
Grumpy Old Prop: No.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, this will be interesting. Italy and Scotland. This fixture two years ago, Italy won.
Grumpy Old Prop: You know, I am going to go with them because they're at home.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, we might differ here because going to give it to Scotland. And I will be happy to be wrong. i was very Yeah, and it may well be.
Grumpy Old Prop: um umm I'm picking this as a Scotland Poopery.
Jarrod Dyke: It may well be.
Grumpy Old Prop: And the thing is, if Scotland win this...
Grumpy Old Prop: Maybe that you know that that's you know obviously that's what's needed to get to that that scenario that I mentioned before. Does
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, there's that too. England, Wales.
Grumpy Old Prop: Scotland, I think, i have a chance against England? so
Jarrod Dyke: um They always do because they always find a way to perform against them.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, England-Wales.
Grumpy Old Prop: But I think Scotland's looking forward to that, so that's why I think they poop it.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm sure they are.
Grumpy Old Prop: um England.
Jarrod Dyke: England, yeah. not Not a hard choice there. Okay. Alright, fam. We are going to pop over to Fantasy Corner for just a tiny bit because we only have three games to cover, but we will talk a little bit about previews and
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: what's going on with other competitions, but that won't be all that long. So if you're going to join us, we'll see you over there. If not, we appreciate you guys for hanging out and being patient with us and listening to us. And we'll catch you guys next week. Enjoy the opening of Six Nations. Have a good one, everyone.
Grumpy Old Prop: Later.
Jarrod Dyke: Cheers.
