Speaker
Hey everybody, how's it going? This is the fancy rugby eggs. My name's Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glaser. Happy New Year, everybody. Happy New Year. Welcome in. It's been a while since you've all heard from us. And you've probably had radio silence from me for a while, because I've been under the weather. And it's been hell. Glad you're still on the side of the dirt, dude. Yeah, that's a good start.
00:00:27
Speaker
Caught a wee bit of the flu. I was like, oh. Doctor told me, and I'm like, no. That's why I feel like ass. Started like Wednesday night into Thursday, and then, yeah, like Christmas night into Thursday. I worked a little bit Thursday, and I came home Thursday after my first little batch of work, and I was like, oh, I'm not well. And I felt okay, but still kind of like crap Thursday, Friday.
00:00:56
Speaker
Exponentially worse. I was like, yep, this is not good. So we went to the doctor Yeah, I was uh, I was texting with you and then got radio silence. So I texted your wife and she's like, yeah Jared's been passed out on the couch since he got back from the doctors. I'm like, yeah fair enough Yeah, that's all right. Yeah, so sorry about those that may have missed our start sit Uh, I was dying or at least trying not to die
00:01:21
Speaker
So but still here still still alive. Obviously, I've been sick. So we're going sans beers today for the first time, probably basically since that one morning show that we did. But yeah, so I will will pass on that.

Rugby Mag Upgrade Benefits

00:01:37
Speaker
But make sure that you're checking us out on Google Play, Spotify, Apple podcast, tune in all that all those good places. Obviously, it's we've been in the middle of a quite a big patch of
00:01:49
Speaker
Premiere ships so obviously permission fancy on TRM is Coming in handy. If you have your if you have your rugby mag upgrade does it's very handy
00:02:01
Speaker
Yeah, it's been extremely helpful for the last couple of weeks. Now that we're getting into the meat of the prem season and we don't have too many interruptions going forward, it'll be nice. I did manage to field a reasonable team on TRM, not too, although obviously I had a couple of stinkers in my lineup.
00:02:23
Speaker
As did we all. But Thacker did well. He did. I captained him. I definitely, I definitely benefited from having that upgrade because all I did was look at my lineup and go, all right, do I have everybody playing? Yeah, looks good. All right. Roll. Bye. And so I did. It came in handy. Yeah, I did slightly more tinkering than that, but I was still traveling. I was still at the in-laws. So I did what I could. I still came my way with a pretty good week, too. So.

Fantasy League Strategy

00:02:52
Speaker
I did then the captaining of Thacker was just like well Fine, I'll go with him. Yeah, it was it was really between him and for me him and Reinach I know it's obvious to say that now but that wasn't a bad answer though, right? So I wasn't expecting 15 I wasn't expecting that many points from Reinach which no and I was expecting a solid day from Thacker They both blew away my expectations. Yep. Yeah the Yeah, the Brinek definitely won me a week in FRD. Mm-hmm
00:03:20
Speaker
146 up in left in frd last week. Not bad for being half in the bag. Yeah shit Um, yeah somebody somebody somebody pull that magic out at another point Um, oh and if you're obviously ever in a pinch like
00:03:36
Speaker
You know last week when we weren't around And you were seeking for other help and other advice always check out our friend the fancy rugby geek and his website make sure that you're Working with working with him a little bit too because believe me what he knows we know and he might even know a little bit His analysis and insight really helped me beat him this week Sorry, buddy
00:04:04
Speaker
Oops. Okay. Let's get into the meat of the meat of the shit here. Hopefully not meaty shit. Keep that on that side of the table. Yeah, right.

Top Rugby Players of 2019

00:04:16
Speaker
Our 15th of the year, yes, we're already in 2020, but listen, we ain't that fucking deep into it, so we can look back on 2019 and still talk about it. Yeah, our 15th of the year, and this was actually Ben's brainchild, so
00:04:28
Speaker
Uh, do you want to go position by position trade off or do you want to let's do, uh, let's go position by position. Okay. So, um, again, the idea is who had, for me, it's, it's, and it's not like the best at each position. Right. So much as who had the best year for them. Um, and, and obviously you want to high level players. So we're not just talking. Yeah. So I'm sure nobody's, you don't know. We're talking about the, you know, high level international level players. Um, so my, my number one.
00:04:58
Speaker
retired this year and then stunningly came out of retirement to have an excellent run at the World Cup and just in general all-around great guy and has been a you know a real advocate for good and a lot of other ways outside the game but my number one of the year is Joe Marler
00:05:18
Speaker
Yeah, actually, he's mine, too. So how about that? Yeah, his obviously a great England comeback and then his performance with the Babas and his time with the Babas. And he certainly emulated what the Babas meant. Exactly. He's a guy who should be on the Babas, too. So I guess now he has more time for that now that he is actually retiring. Now he's done. Now he's done. He's like, all right, I'm not making the next World Cup. But I love the move of I don't really want to play Six Nations.
00:05:47
Speaker
Yeah, hey, whatever. I want to play in the World Cup. He's that, yeah, he's that veteran. So it's okay. Um, gay guys like Ben Moon and Hepburn a chance to give it a run. Well, how about, how about your hooker? Uh, huh.
00:06:02
Speaker
I want to see if you have the same guy, so I'll go first on this one. Same time. I went with, I went with now former Irish captain and our friend Rory Best. Fair enough. He was a, he's a huge, he just had a great, obviously a great, just, it was fun to see him kind of right off into the sunset and the way he did. He deserved a better end after obviously Ireland got smushed by the Alblox.
00:06:31
Speaker
Happens, but he's a great leader He's a great person and just you see the emotion in his eyes when he's when he's won when his last game at Dublin and then just his last game for Ireland You could see the emotion in his eyes and how much he cares and to me that just says a lot about him So my hooker for the year is Rory best my hooker I'm gonna
00:06:53
Speaker
Stick with the the the american here. Um, because 2019 was was the really the coming out party for joe talfetti joe Jo t yep, not bad choice a little bit, you know, you said in scoring records for hookers shit like that, you know, no big deal um, uh, but but playing well Playing well in the prem and really quitting himself. Well in the the international stage
00:07:13
Speaker
Somebody who you can look at you know, we have a lot of American international Eagles Who go are playing overseas and there unfortunately aren't many of them that you look at near the other teams in other countries are actually impressed by yeah, but tough Eddie is is really showing showing well for For the US on the international scene, right? How about you tight it?
00:07:39
Speaker
Tight head is your one of your favorite props and certainly one of mine is Kyle Sinclair. I knew that was coming You know, he he he does have issues with the discipline or has in the past I think he's he's improved himself in ways that are were you know seen as his weaknesses. He's he's a lot more disciplined and
00:08:02
Speaker
You know you see a lot of little discipline all over the place, but he's been really good about keeping his head mm-hmm and not doing stupid things Such as some some of the things we saw in some recent saris matches. You know like all these other things He's not one of those you start and shit. He's he's walking away from that He's earning scrum penalties Almost as much as he's losing them, which is still a yeah, so that's a lottery at this point
00:08:28
Speaker
Um, but but he's getting better in in uh in other aspects than just his open field play. Um, uh mine is is jefferson pauro For one reason and one reason only the rainbow lace is what he was wearing the the the same game that he had nidal ruff nidal. Oh, he's referring. Yeah, uh, gotta you know, I I don't know if he was trying to be a kiss ass
00:08:50
Speaker
trying to show respect, but either way, I'll give Jefferson Poirot some props. Obviously he had a great year for France and France in general had a much better year than they've had in the past. And he was definitely a part of it. But yeah, just the nod to Nigel. Yeah, I'm going to wear rainbow lace as well. Nigel Owen referees me. So Jefferson Poirot is my title. Class move. Yes.
00:09:14
Speaker
Let's go to the engine room. Um, my first, my first lock, um, would be the big gigantic Australian well skeleton. He had a hell of a year for the man. He should have been in Japan, Australia. You should have moved to heaven and earth to get this guy on that plane. I don't care. I don't care what your rules say. Like to just ignore him was just absolutely stupid. Um, to think that he was just going to ditch the Saracens and go back to Australia.
00:09:44
Speaker
Yeah, you're a desperation. That was a desperation thought at the very least, but he obviously had an incredible year. He was, he lost the weight he lost and he turned himself into quite the monster. And the Prem found out that he was quite a good player. Yeah, he did. So Willie Skeleton is one of my locks. My lock is a woman named Carmen Farmer, who lots of you out there probably don't know, which is fine. She's an eagle. She ended up,
00:10:13
Speaker
I have a little bit of personal history, so my wife played with her back in the day. I've been following her career for a while, but she's been a great eagle for a long time, retired from that. She ended up starting the Barbarian Women's in their first two matches ever, including that match of Twickenham.
00:10:34
Speaker
Oh, right. OK. Got it. And she ended up winning the WPL this year, the highest level in American women's rugby with Glendale. So she had herself an incredible year. When you start for a club like the Barbarians, their first ever women's team. Yeah. That's one thing. And then you do it their second match, too. That means they liked what they saw. They liked what they saw the first time. And so they wanted to do there again. Good for her. So great job, Carmen. Yeah.
00:10:59
Speaker
Very awesome. My other luck would be a man that nobody would ever question his leadership and you'd run your head through a wall for this guy. That'd be the former Wales captain, Olimwin Jones. Obviously Wales won the Six Nations this year and completed the Grand Slam and they were able to
00:11:20
Speaker
obviously put themselves into a semi-final and you know ended up in the third place game against the All Blacks but really they and they showed out really really well for a Welsh squad that was probably a little underrated going into the initial six nations and then obviously they caught they caught a little bit of fire got themselves over the line so Allen when Jones is obviously gonna no longer be a World Cup captain at the very least maybe we'll see him this
00:11:47
Speaker
the spring when the six nations starts, which is not that far away. But my my other lock is Alan. But my other lock was also Alan. Yeah. Nice. Yeah.

Flanker Debates of 2019

00:11:58
Speaker
He had him hard to not pick. Right. And then we go to our number six, which we have to have the same person, because if we don't have the same person, I'm going to come over there and smack you. Let's see a Khaleesi.
00:12:10
Speaker
You know, I have it's got no you're wrong. I you know, I love I love Sia and it's it he's he was this was a conversation in my head of Oh man, how two countries that did so well For themselves and to get and to leaders that did so well for their country But I went with my bleach
00:12:32
Speaker
He's my number seven. OK, so yeah, and I picked somebody else at seven. So fair enough. Yeah, Mike Leach is my six. OK. Obviously, you know, the beards were flowing in Japan because of Mike Leach and he he led that team on to a terrific performance in the World Cup and obviously winning their group and all that good stuff. So Mike Leach was an awesome, awesome. He's an awesome person, but he's also obviously was a terrific leader this year for the Brave Blossoms.
00:13:01
Speaker
And yeah, he really showed well and led that team with his heart, not so much his body anymore. He's broken now. Yeah, but he did so well all through that tournament and really gave them the spark that they needed to accomplish the things that they accomplished. Absolutely. I agree. My seven is Tom Curry.
00:13:20
Speaker
Excellent choice. It was he had a he had a bolter of a year Obviously people knew who he was before but man the world found out who Tom Curry was right? Thanks a little world cup and see he didn't miss much two years ago We were talking about England have no flankers now. They have a plethora
00:13:35
Speaker
And a lot of them are named Curry, but that's not the point. This one in particular did a very good job and really earned his way onto that squad and the position he had on that squad. Yeah, absolutely. He was a menace to any team that played against him, especially at the World Cup. So Tom Curry is my seven.
00:13:55
Speaker
My 8, I don't think he might have played one or two international matches, but he's a guy who had been getting some attention. But then, you know, there's a lot of 8s out there. I mean, Kieran Reed, you could talk about your Kieran Reeds, your Vodopolas, all that shit.
00:14:14
Speaker
None of them, they all did what you expected them to do. There was nothing, nobody really had the standout, like, oh, we'd never seen anything like that from him before. So I went with Alex Dombrandt as a guy who really came on strong in the premiership and actually acquitted himself incredibly well at the international level when he got a shot with England.

Premiership Rising Stars

00:14:35
Speaker
It's just he's stuck behind a lot of mates. There's a lot of bodies in that back row of England.
00:14:41
Speaker
And I don't know that he could fit into the six and especially not now that the speed that other sixes have for England. But still, it's got to be acknowledged the season that Dom Brandt had. He went above and beyond and hoped to continue that in 2020. Took his opportunity by the scruff of the neck big time.
00:14:59
Speaker
My eight is Karen Reed and obviously he was a you know, this was his last match isn't all black. He's on his way to France, I think Or Japan actually, I think Japan. Yeah, he ended up in Japan But you know just the special moments he had with his his family especially the poor and I only and you know, they had awesome moment with them and
00:15:24
Speaker
After the third place match in Japan, but I go back to his last regular season home game in Christchurch where he was being honored and the kids were supposed to walk out with him and one of them was not having it and he just went down and was like fuck it, I'm bringing him. He just picked her up. It's like yeah, guess what, you're coming. By hook or by crook, you're coming, kiddo.
00:15:48
Speaker
It just amused me and obviously Karen reads a great player a great leader and a great man So my my my number eight is the all-black Karen read nice. He got a scrum half Cobus right back Excellent. I can't you can't say a whole lot about him negatively at least obviously he had a hell of a year in the permission bolted himself on to a
00:16:09
Speaker
the plane for South Africa, I thought he got way too little game time for them. He, you know, the premiership are going to see him in their dreams and then nightmares for a long time because he has continued to cause problems, you and sense. But yeah, Cobus Reinach is my nine for his outstanding years, especially in the premiership.
00:16:29
Speaker
And my choice for nine is the guy who made sure he didn't get there's enough enough time in

World Cup Standouts

00:16:34
Speaker
the World Cup. And that's Herschel. Yeah, who just came on out of literally out of nowhere. No kidding in the Super League and earned his way through his play onto the national side and even was the backup nine at the World Cup final over Reinach, which was incredible.
00:16:53
Speaker
I did want to give an honorable mention because you're gonna hear the name a lot for a long time also, but for a ton DuPont. Yeah But yeah, yeah Yankees for these. Yeah, he played really well for a guy his age Yes, like Stormers were like, what are we gonna do at nine? And then this kid shows up and plays his balls off, right? They're just like never mind We're good saw something else now. Yep
00:17:15
Speaker
Uh fly half fly half. Uh, I I again, I I have a a veteran Who I thought acquitted himself well and and he's he's gotten a lot of shit over the years um, but Has always to me to my mind been been very good and and gets too much for for what he is and really doesn't get the recognition he deserves um certainly deserved it with his his six nations and and his performance
00:17:39
Speaker
Um in in the premiership and that's that's dan bigger. Yep. Um, my my honorable mention for this is is romaine anatomak Another you know going sticking with that that french thing because you're going to hear these names for a while Yeah, um, he did the same kind of thing. But but I think dan bigger did a lot. Yeah Hey, there were a lot of middle fingers coming from dan bigger this year towards a lot of people who've said
00:17:57
Speaker
Unkind things about his play Yeah, he's um, he's not talked about enough by any means whatsoever And I thought he definitely played his ass off Both in the world cup and the six nations and the saints will tell you otherwise, you know that he's pretty good, too Yeah, my 10 is romant into mac. Okay, um
00:18:14
Speaker
He had a fantastic year for France. Obviously he put himself on the world stage especially with the with the performers in the Six Nations and at the World Cup and then you and then in the top 14 for Toulouse as well as the Champions Cup for Toulouse He's he's certainly gonna be somebody that they lean on for a long time You know, yes, he plays 12 sometimes for them but it really his natural position and I believe his best position

France's Young Talent

00:18:39
Speaker
is 10 so I
00:18:40
Speaker
Hopefully he is uh going to be somebody that we see for a long time coming because uh That the whole french team, you know, they had like what three two or three championship under 20 championships You're going to see some youth coming through real fit real real quick here and it's going to be pretty I think the french are going to be around for a while now. Hopefully yeah, especially with the again their their newt that they're actually adding structure to their national team And you can see how they how much better that their national team are playing than their club sides that haven't figured that out yet. Yeah
00:19:09
Speaker
So on to the skill position, the little guys that will go with number 11. This is my third and final honorable mention. And my honorable mention is Kenki Fukuoka. Fukuoka, yeah. Just because he had two amazing tries in the World Cup and just an amazing play and retired to go be a medical student. Yeah, yeah. Whatever, right? Fucking A, dude. That's a hell of a year. But my 11 of the year is Josh Adams.
00:19:38
Speaker
for the storming Six Nations, and then to continue that through the World Cup. Yep. Did he break Shane Williams record at the World Cup for tries? I think he did. I think he did. Yeah. Good on him. Yeah. So to have a Six Nations and a World Cup like that, well done. Yeah, absolutely. My 11, and I'm sure, you know, your other wing might be this guy as well. Kotaro Matsushima. OK.
00:20:08
Speaker
Big, big World Cup from this guy for the Brave Wossoms. He definitely provided a huge spark for them and was putting tries in for fun. The guy just had an amazing year, especially obviously for his time at the World Cup in Japan. But yeah, just definitely gave a big X factor to the Japanese team out on the wing. So my 11 is Kataro Matsushima.
00:20:33
Speaker
On to 12.

Exceptional Performances & Snubs

00:20:35
Speaker
The best, to my mind, the best center that was not at the World Cup, Rory Hutchinson. Just what more could he do? Tour up the Premier League. He's doing it again, even now. So it wasn't just a flute then. Somehow mysteriously left off the team.
00:20:56
Speaker
Townsend's going to have some answers to provide on that one. Right. But but as far as the play from from a 12, I thought Rory Hutchinson was was far and away, you know, better this year than I guess the honors bestowed upon him for his efforts. Yeah, for sure.
00:21:15
Speaker
My 12 is our friend, Nick Tompkins. And for one simple reason, I mean he's obviously an amazing player and he's definitely burst onto the scene this year. But really the thing that sticks out to me is his hat trick off the bench in the premise of my final against Gloucester that really just
00:21:33
Speaker
put the nail in their coffin. Yeah. They're going to, they're going to hate seeing him. Yeah. Well, and then he scored again this year. They're going to hate seeing him for a long time at Gloucester. I have a feeling, but yeah, Nick Tompkins had himself a heck of a year and obviously put himself into a conversation to get himself at least on a international team at some point here.
00:21:54
Speaker
13 13 I went with uh the women's player of the year for 2019 emily scarred. Uh-huh Just dominating this year. She she took it to another level um went from a qual just I mean It's it's hard to tell because she's been such a dominating player, but I mean she was just playing and toying with teams um and
00:22:17
Speaker
It's one of those you can't you can no longer just focus on her because oh she'll pop it out to those she they England have some some super fast wings now to write and she can either You know for the pass or even the chip ahead and chase she does it all to put her players the players around her and position to do good things even when she's not
00:22:39
Speaker
Getting the glory yourself. She's the one who starts it usually so Or is a key key component of it. Yeah, so Yeah for first six nations, uh win again and and her women's player of the year, uh, emily scott's my 13 of the year. Yeah Good choice. Um, my 13 is semi red rod rod
00:22:58
Speaker
That was a tough one there. Had to have a Fijian in there for their performances. They pushed all the teams that they came up against and obviously they're just a wonderful, wonderful team to watch and they're so, so entertaining to watch.
00:23:15
Speaker
I was struggling with that because he played wing for the for Fiji. Right. Although he is an outside center. Yeah, he's for club. So I was like, I want to do. Yeah, but so I you know, I had a I was like, all right, I got to have a Fijian in this. Yeah. And Rodra is a pretty damn good one last I checked. So yeah. And obviously he's now got himself a nice move on the way over to the premiership. So it'll be it'll be fun to watch him play there next year.
00:23:43
Speaker
14. 14. This guy. This fucking guy. This fucking guy. Another one of these. He's been good. He's been good. You know, all right. Solid play. Somebody got to watch out for. And then at the World Cup, he just lit everybody on fire. When that South Africa team really needed to try to either to just change the match or put it away. Cheslyn Colby was there to provide a lot of magic. Yep.
00:24:10
Speaker
you know you can't tackle him in a phone booth i mean he's so tiny yeah he's a phone booth for for those of you out there used to be this thing where you could go it's a very it's an enclosed place um but yeah he he you just you even you think you got him completely surrounded and he wiggles his way out and you're like how the fuck did he do that but he's danced up the sideline for a try yep um just an amazing job this year of of separating himself from
00:24:38
Speaker
from the pack of wings in the world. Yeah, absolutely.
00:24:42
Speaker
Um, so I got my, my, I was stuck between him and, uh, his, uh, his other wing partner, Mack McPimpy. And I went with Mack McPimpy. There you go. Uh, he had himself an amazing year from the sharks, scored a huge try for them to get them into the quarterfinal. Uh, standing still, he catches that pass, the intercepts the pass within a full like high jump and like lands flat footed and still out races everybody for that try. Yeah. Unreal.
00:25:10
Speaker
He had a huge, so he had a huge game in that last match. And then obviously he bolted himself onto the South Africa plane and had a huge impact, especially on the final score to try there. So it was amazing.
00:25:25
Speaker
amazing job by the guy. From what I understand, he's come from a top background. So for him to get there this year and to have that happen for him was awesome to hear a story like that for sure. So Mac, he's my 14.
00:25:42
Speaker
Who you got a 15? Your girl Emily scared. Oh, there you go. Had to had to find a spot for I was like, yeah full back done Yeah, you said it you said everything that needs to be said. She was dancing circles around people the whole year Obviously world rugby saw that and named her world rugby women's play of the year Amazing year for the for the girl and she's gonna keep on ticking. I have a feeling too. So look out ladies. Oh
00:26:08
Speaker
My 15, um, not just for his work on the pitch, but for his tireless, endless efforts off the pitch, still in his kit. Alex. Good. He was on my brain. He was on my brain for this too, but yeah, good pick.
00:26:25
Speaker
uh because He uh, he wants some hardware this year and uh, he celebrated it. Well, um, that's that's what that's what you want to see in rugby Is is is the work that he put in also unappreciated by uh by eddie Unfortunately, um, yeah a couple of those guys and but but just what what a year, uh, he had him for himself. Unfortunately It ended too early. Yep. Yep. I agreed
00:26:52
Speaker
All right, and then our top five moments
00:27:00
Speaker
I remember, so we, I can go through, yeah, let's go through each one on our own. So five for me. You mentioned him and this is where he came into play for me was Joe Taffete getting named on the world player of the year nominees. You know, people were not happy about it that were really sticklers and picky, but at the same time, you know,
00:27:24
Speaker
don't take away from him what he's done. You know, so that's not fair to him. Right. He obviously had himself an amazing year. So, yes, there's a there's a list of people that probably could have been on there. But how many of those are down there just because of their name and not what they did this year? Right. So the guy had a great year. Shut the fuck up. Yeah. You know, there's a lot of players. He wasn't going to win it. So there's a lot of players who are very well known who had bad years this year. And it would probably the stick in the muds would probably want over Tel Fetti as a nominee. And that's like you.
00:27:53
Speaker
Yep. Nope. Nope. Nope. Um, so yeah, Joe T is number five. Uh, number four is the unfortunate saying goodbye to Rory Best. Um, one of the great characters of the game, nevermind leaders and people and players. Uh, yeah, he, his line out throwing ain't the best pun intended, but, um, he's still an amazing leader and he's still amazing player. So, uh, number four is unfortunately saying goodbye to Rory Best. It was a,
00:28:19
Speaker
It was a sad goodbye, but it was a lot of joy to it as well.
00:28:25
Speaker
Number three, Uruguay beating Fiji at the World Cup. What an accomplishment this is for a country like Uruguay, especially over here in the Americas, where the only team that's really even closely rated is Argentina. For them to pick up a huge win like that after Fiji kind of went to sleep on them, and obviously Fiji with the darlings of the World Cup, but the Uruguayans just put in a hell of a team shift, and they set peace to them to death a little bit, and it was pretty good for them.
00:28:54
Speaker
Um, so I was, uh, Ooh, David Stern died. Yeah. He'd been sick. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. Um, so yeah, the, sorry, things come across computers. Um, yeah, you're going to be, being fizzy is number three for me. Uh, number two appropriately, there's two of them, the series double.
00:29:17
Speaker
was a huge moment for me, obviously in us. It was a lot of fun, a lot of fun, especially the European one. But yeah, it's obviously not something you see every day. I think Lester was the only other team that's accomplished the double. So this is our second, and I was dancing in the street for it. So it was definitely a fun moment for me.
00:29:42
Speaker
I'll enjoy it while it lasts because I know these things don't last forever. And number one, how could you not? Japan qualifying and winning the group in their home world cup and putting on the performance they put on.
00:29:57
Speaker
Just to entertain their home crowd and obviously entertain us and they did it with some some brilliant rugby It wasn't the ugly shit that we that you know some teams do when they're trying to just grind through it they really went out there and showed their stuff and Hopefully the symbols aren't going away because of that which would be awesome. Yeah Yeah, so Japan is qualifying and winning their group it For the first time in the rugby World Cup is my number one moment of the year. There you go
00:30:25
Speaker
So my five, my top five, my fifth is gonna be a try because that was, it was the try of the year and rugby is nothing without the tries. And that's TJ Peronaro's try against Namibia. Unfortunate to say, you know, no, no, no, this was a try against any team because of how fucking amazing it was and the teamwork that went into it. You know, Peronaro gets the credit, but a lot of work by everyone else that went into that.
00:30:53
Speaker
So just an amazing moment there. The one that everybody could just cheer, no matter who you were looking for. Wow. OK. You win. Yeah. My number four is the Crusaders versus Hurricanes Super Rugby Semifinal, which was really the final. Yeah, it really was. But what an amazing match. I'm sorry. I know. It's a poking in the sore spot here for me. It's all right. It was still a good match. Yeah, it was still a great match. Very good for rugby.
00:31:21
Speaker
You know, maybe we can say that the wrong team may have won, but whatever It was what it was. It was what it was On to number three Was is the double the Billy Vuna polo the you know him running through four Lester defenders Lester defenders to win the Champions Cup Alex goods never ending celebration and Jamie George going over to seal it against Exeter in the prem final like all those combined were just very good for you know, it's just good great rugby
00:31:51
Speaker
Number two is the creation of the barbarians women's side, including the inaugural match versus the US in Glendale, and the double headers against England and Wales with the men's sides. So just good to see if you've been following the barbarians social media, they don't distinguish between, oh, we have a men's team and a women's team, but we're all the same club.
00:32:18
Speaker
They practice together they work together one of them laid out Marler I think it was Like they're you know, they're not you know, they're not going easy on each other so that's it's fun to see And good for the sport too. We need some stuff like that. I
00:32:36
Speaker
especially the women's seen the women's rugby needs something like the barbarians to because The there's a lot of skill that goes to waste and the women's met the game Unfortunately, and that really highlights this, you know that that you the u.s. Versus Barbarians match was a lot of fun a lot of just open rugby and fun passing on both sides Just good shit
00:32:57
Speaker
And then my number one is a trio of moments, two of which you already named Uruguay beating Fiji, Japan qualifying. So I'm going to go with with my number one moment was Gatlin and Hanson walking off together sunset after Wales, New Zealand in the third place match. Yeah.
00:33:16
Speaker
That was a good moment for them to do that too because it was their place so nobody nobody was really paying attention necessarily to the To who won it was more the the players and about just the event because you know You had a lot of players that were retiring from not only the you know, the World Cup, but also just international rugby in general, right? So a lot of players and two coaches that'll be there well for them. It'll be at least the last match with those Those teams they make they'll move on I hope
00:33:44
Speaker
Yeah, I think gatlin went to the chiefs. Yeah, and then hansen's somewhere in japan now So but but good to see you know, and especially hansen's comma just uh, oh, what did he say? Couldn't couldn't spit out more than like it's been a privilege privilege. Yeah, that's all he could get out perfect Right. Yeah Couldn't spit up spit out a whole lot more. No All right, um
00:34:12
Speaker
Well, so it's going to be a, it's going to be kind of the dead year. Unfortunately, uh, 2020 is going to be interesting. Uh, I think. Thing I want to think, I think the thing I'm most excited about is the free Jack starting. That's fun. Yeah. We get, we get our tickets where we're going to be able to watch some cool, some cool things happen down at, uh, at the point there. So it'd be fun.
00:34:34
Speaker
And, and MLR seems like it's for real. So, uh, there's a lot of legitimate players coming over and playing yet at even the, you know, the tail end of their careers, but still that's, that's what every, that's what, um, MLS needed. Yep. So, uh, that's what, that's what MLR needs. This is where we're getting it. So, um, that's excellent to see. I guess if, if anything, uh, this year I'm looking forward to Louis re-sam it and seeing him at the, um, hopefully at the six stations at six nations.
00:35:02
Speaker
Yeah, and seeing seeing how how he can do at the international levels, right? Yeah, let's go to premiership around seven recap Friday night, Bristol and Woss. I was awake for about two percent of this match and the two percent I caught was needs them cars throwing in for the winter. Oh, that's not all you needed to see. It was it was a pretty solid match.
00:35:29
Speaker
But yeah, that that was a hell of an end. Just the Bristol, just their defense completely fell apart at the end. Yeah. They they just they were clumped up like a like peewee soccer. And they had a chance. I thought they had a chance just to kill the. Oh, yeah, they did because they had they had some sort of infringement. I can't remember if it was a penalty or a free kick or something.
00:35:56
Speaker
Where they could have played slow ball and they didn't um, they they oh, I think they they like did a box kick or something They basically gave wasps the ball with like a minute and a half to go. Uh Yeah, I don't yeah, they gave away possessions like at that point just just run a couple crash ball phases And you're not trying to get meters just recycle the ball and wait till the clock's red and kick it to touch They didn't do that. I didn't quite understand it. Um
00:36:22
Speaker
Beat the whole hell out of me. So you missed Pat Lamb's comments mid-game where he... I'm reading between lines here. So I'm interpreting things the way I would interpret them. So take that out there with a grain of salt. I think Lamb was pretty disappointed with Uren's play based on what he said both in his in-game interview and then the fact that he pulled Uren
00:36:51
Speaker
Only a few minutes into the second half he did not give him much time to up his game You know, we've talked a lot about urine and Randall combination right urine has not outplayed Randall this year, so I'm hoping that from I think
00:37:08
Speaker
Lamb is still figuring out his squad. I'm making the assumption now that Randall will feature more as a starter and more of a significant performer than a late game replacement. Yeah, hopefully for his sake.
00:37:24
Speaker
Umaga, uh, missed two early kicks for the, for wasps. Um, but then he made up for it with a, with a, with a first try of the match. Um, certainly, you know, it's a developing player, but, um, there's a lot, there's a lot there. Okay. Well, there you go. Uh, yeah, it was a, uh, it's a fortunate result. It looks like for Bristol, but it was that, that wasn't a game that they, they could have afforded to lose. Um,
00:37:48
Speaker
You know that this is one of the the reasons losses like this are one of the reasons why Bristol have not been Uh a top four team the last at least not little they weren't last year when they they had the opportunity to be Yeah, we'll see what happens. So we'll see Yeah, we'll see what happens going forward, but they got to flush losses like this out of their system quickly. Yep
00:38:06
Speaker
Uh, and then the early game on Saturday, Northampton and Gloucester, it was, uh, it was pretty back and forth. Yes. It was pretty back and forth. Very much was. For my remember, but, uh, the man, the man wearing number nine for Snortampton returns with a band at Cobus Reinack. Yes, he does. He came off, but then he came back on and then he came off again quickly. Yeah, he was, uh, he's a little banged up, I think.
00:38:29
Speaker
Right. And yeah, he he he looked a little loose in the knee. But still got two tries. Should have had a third. Yes. Except for I think there was an offside call. I think they determined the passes forward or something. Yeah, there was something that wasn't wasn't right.
00:38:49
Speaker
The uh, what was it? Sharples was, uh, incredibly physical up, uh, shutting down Nairovoro before he'd even get ahead of steam. Like basically coming up and yeah, he did, did exactly what he needed to do, uh, to defend there. Then he cut Francis in half. Uh, and then he had to come off less than 20 minutes hit. So, uh, Sharples, so we talked about re salmon. He had three tries this match.
00:39:12
Speaker
Um, one of them was pretty easy from yeah a couple I think two of them were pretty easy They were set up not you know by by others work and he just had to walk over Um, or I think one was a chip through if I remember correctly. Um, but Either way, uh, I think we're gonna see a lot more of of resamit for a couple weeks too with with thorley and now sharples hurting
00:39:35
Speaker
Uh, we'll see how that goes, but but that that's one to watch and for fantasy is is resammit now I think he's one, you know, especially for uh, you know, we actually need their format You can still him on your bench if you have to in an frd Um, and in trm he's dirt cheap. So he should be on your spot. Yeah
00:39:54
Speaker
It was a good match from what I remember. It was. Law back and forth. I was so excited. Again, I wasn't paying too much attention because I was literally driving all day on Saturday.
00:40:10
Speaker
So it was like, when I was watching the replays, I was like, oh man, do I want to watch Gloucester or do I want to watch Northampton? And then I get to the replays, like, oh shit, that's right. It's Gloucester and Northampton. This is fucking awesome. That makes it so easy. And it was definitely worth it. I love watching both these teams. And as you can tell on the scoreboard, 33-26, hell of a match.
00:40:31
Speaker
Definitely worth the price of admission. Yeah, clearly. The the bug comes back, bath and sale. Yeah, that was a it was a slog. Yeah. I know Jonathan Joseph got over and then was just like, ew, I just fell into something.
00:40:50
Speaker
Yeah, dude, it's a mess. It's a mess in the try zone especially But it was I mean give back credit they they they toughened up and they showed up for this match Which is a this is a big win for them because they really need it to get themselves off the table a little bit here Yeah, faff pissed me off I watched the first couple of minutes of it enough to see faff have suffering what had to be a season ending injury the way he was flopping about and
00:41:15
Speaker
And and you know and crying and doing as he does and they came out and they put a little tape on him And he's oh, I'm good to go. I'm running around like everything's fine like dude Come on, man, like let's this isn't soccer. We don't need to oversell injuries. Let's
00:41:29
Speaker
Yeah, let's just come on please have some fucking pride. Yeah, just a bit but the uh The bathmen do take care of business 16 14 Um, either one of us unfortunately watched the wister irish match or fortunately, um from what I heard it was pretty ugly. Yeah, I was following somebody on on twitter and Yeah, so it wasn't wasn't the prettiest. No, I can't imagine Um, those two teams are not doing the best as far as they're not playing high level
00:41:57
Speaker
I guess John O'Lance came on and made quite a difference. And then one of the Irish props. An Irish prop got a red card, surprise surprise. Yeah, sounds like a familiar song there. But yeah, Worcester won it and this could be, you know, have implications on the relegation in the future. Don't know yet, but
00:42:19
Speaker
Yeah, it could any any of these matches that you know, the the wasps Wow win was it was huge for them for the for that relegation battle, too. So All these these three at the bottom well four at the bottom the irish the wasps the the tigers and then the set, you know, they have to be lester are happy and we'll get to that in a minute, but You know this kind of just puts off the inevitable for one more week where they have to you know worry about that monster creeping up behind them and
00:42:48
Speaker
Yep. And then to Twickenham, Quins and Lester. And then we see, so here we had Campanaro go down early. Poor guy. Yeah. And so he was my anti-FAFTA clerk, taking it, you know, he's like, yeah, I'm hurt.
00:43:05
Speaker
And obviously, he teared up, but he took it with pride. And it was really hard. It's hard to see, because he's a big signing for the Quinns, hoping for big things. But it doesn't look like he's going to be back anytime soon. Yeah, it doesn't look like he's going to be around for a whole lot of the season here, unfortunately, which sucks. But our guy Paul got over. Yeah, he did. Oh, did he crash over ever? He did. Nobody wanted to get in the way of that train.
00:43:32
Speaker
And then not only that, but he so that tried not only did he scored his try there, but he basically scored Marcus Smith's try. Yes, because they were worried about him because it was the same thing. They they committed four or five defensive players to to come through and Smith walked around the side. I'm just going to run around and.
00:43:51
Speaker
Yeah. Thanks guys. Bye. See ya. Yeah. That was that was nice. That was nice easy one for him. Yeah. Mark. I mean, Mark Smith's very good. Obviously, we've we've talked about how much he's matured over the over the year over the year ish plus that he's been around.
00:44:08
Speaker
Where has the fight been from Lester like this? I haven't seen this fight like this for a while. The last two weeks they've looked interested, I think is the way to put it. Interested in winning, which is, as you said, good to see from Lester. This is the kind of Lester that I've been waiting to see for the last couple years.
00:44:28
Speaker
I don't think it's gonna be enough because I just don't think they had the talent overall to maintain this But again, look who they're you know, you see who they're playing against And that that might help explain
00:44:42
Speaker
Some of why we're seeing what we're seeing, right? Although, you know, they gave Exeter all they could handle but still wasn't nearly enough. But this week it was enough to get the tie over quins. Yeah, they got the tie over quins. Yeah, basically. Yeah, got a couple points and salvaged some points there to keep themselves alive at the very least.
00:45:07
Speaker
Uh, it was interesting to see marler had to come back on as a as a tight head because sinkler got hurt Um, then the rich old boy had got the the yellow card. Yes Um, that's not good. Which really that fucked over. Uh Quinn scrum queens at the end. Yeah Yeah, because yep, that was the pat that was the scrum penalty and then george ford chips over for for viano Not much you can do with the with a player down in that situation. Yeah, it's tough to call
00:45:33
Speaker
And I, I still have to mash, uh, mention, um, Ford clashing with calumafoni and calumafoni has to leave the field. I'm looking at these two and I'm like, what the forward charts been revoked. Yeah, seriously. You guys like half your size. I mean, I realized it's, it's only, you know, it's where he got hit, not how he got hit. Yeah. It's definitely where he got hit. It was unfortunate.
00:45:57
Speaker
Yeah. And then Sunday, a big battle down in Devon. Yeah, Ben was less than satisfied with it. And it was, it was a tough old game. Was there any actual rugby played in this match? Not a ton, really by either team.
00:46:14
Speaker
You know, the times that the Saracens were trying the most, I'd say, to try and play the rugby. I agree. They just came, they just kept coming up short and they lacked that final execution that they really needed. It was just stupid. Like, guys being lazy. So that the pass that got fumbled and went for the try by the Nick White kind of intercept kick dealy.
00:46:39
Speaker
Fucking they're running the the saris are trying to run us They're trying to skip the forwards and get to the backs, you know out the back of the the forward that that first forward pod Fucking will skeleton just stands there Not even like in the way like not even like trying to get out of the way just sitting there looking at Farrell like hey How you doing? Like that doesn't even have his hands out just standing there
00:47:00
Speaker
Feral's like, get the fuck out of the way! And Skelton's like, no! So Feral had to throw a bad pass. It didn't go to hand. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Ended up in our own tri-zone. Just little shit like that. I think Skelton was standing in the way again a couple times. There was a couple times where he made a tackle and just kind of laid down on the field afterwards. Not even, he had rolled away or the tackle kind of moved away from him and he just kind of sat there.
00:47:25
Speaker
You know, I'm assuming that the saris had a lot of a post-christmas pudding. That's what I was thinking too. A little heavy. I was like, I wonder how much Christmas drinks they've had. Because they did not look. They weren't sharp. No, they weren't sharp. They didn't really get much done.
00:47:41
Speaker
They were fortunate to get a penalty try at the end. Well, thank you very much Harry Williams for firing up the team. And Wayne Barnes for actually awarding a penalty try unlike the previous week where he earned the Glasgow match where he just
00:47:58
Speaker
Yeah, he he learned from his mistake Yeah, I think you may have gotten a talking to and it's like no if they have like five penalties on the goal line that are preventing tries You can go ahead and award a penalty try. Yeah, how stupid is Harry Williams though? Like how? Why are you coming off the bench to get involved in that show that too like why are you coming off the bench to get involved in that? And he's practically crying and look I'm not saying that he wasn't feeling sad. I Absolutely, you thought those were not crocodile tears, but
00:48:27
Speaker
Dude, don't be that fucking stupid. Jesus. Was he dumb ever dumb? Yeah, it was, I mean, in every Harry Williams owner in TRM's going, you fucking idiot! They were just like, oh, what the fuck?
00:48:44
Speaker
Yeah, I was like yeah about that. Sorry Yeah, he just bought you like he had a yellow already which is already gonna equal a bad day But then my minus 12 on the day yuck Anybody that owned Exodus front row had the same reaction. Yeah, and I just didn't like Neither team was was really that fair to him. I
00:49:06
Speaker
to um To the rep. It was just like the far he had to try both play, you know, he had to try to um farrell for for talking and calling the penalties and shit and and he had to try to nick white for doing the same And fucking really vunipola just standing there and he's like you'll go back to the 50 now and vunipola is like i'm grown as man i'm gonna stand right here No, no, no, no, you you come this way dumb dumb. You have to eventually get him but cheese him
00:49:33
Speaker
Yeah, but they shouldn't have had to go get it. No, they shouldn't that's just Just shit attitude on both sides. It was it was it was it was it was there was a lot of intensity to the match Unfortunately, but it was so they there was a lot of intensity but was focused on the wrong places. Yes No, and it does happen when you have a lot of when you have a lot of you know Bad chemistry going on between two teams. Oh, yeah, and there was there was clearly stuff going on off the field too because his Baxter had
00:50:00
Speaker
Had a lot to say after the match too. Yeah Incorrectly might I add but but he had he had a lot to say. Yeah, well, it sounds like a sounds like a problem Yeah, but extra to do win 14 7 the Saracens do get a bonus point out of it Which is pretty much what I was expecting out of this match in fortune
00:50:15
Speaker
Yeah, it's tough. It's tough to win at Sandy Park looking back on it I mean I'd even mark this on the calendar as a loss so I'm never it's not the result that frustrated me It was the style of play like I you know if they lose and they played their hearts out and they did You know everything you needed to do and then they played good rugby I'd be like fair point, you know, that's that's what you expect. But when both teams just completely shit the bed like that Yep, very frustrating it is. All right
00:50:43
Speaker
Uh, let's do some start set. First time. First time in a while. Hashtag S T F R Y will be in effect this Friday cause it is prem. Um, so yeah, last prime weekend until we get back into the year. Yep. And once again, I get sale cause I can't get rid of sale. Don't want, don't want to tell you. Yeah. Um, they're the best defense in fantasy rugby. So yada, yada, yada. Quins are going to be, they're going to have a rough time earning fantasy points. Um,
00:51:14
Speaker
The the quins themselves Giving up a lot of points to locks The most points to the eight men but shutting down flankers. I see that a lot There's a lot like if teams are giving up points to eight. Yeah, they're shutting down flanks Yeah, and sometimes they haven't played out true out now date either. So that'll skew in a little bit
00:51:31
Speaker
And a lot of times, only the sevens are scoring points for one side. So you're really not, when you look at their flanker points against, it's really their sevens. For sale in both formats, FRD, TRM, you want to start Daniel Dupriya, Robert Dupriya, Aki Van Der Merwe, who just doesn't stop scoring points. Nope.
00:51:54
Speaker
It kind of hold off on uh, uh, the rugby mag but but you go ahead in in frd, uh, the flankers for for sale the curry twins jonah ross, etc um and the centers, um van reen and sam james chris chris ashen also Um, and just leave hammer's lee alone because he's not scoring anything. Yeah, um, and and quins are good against fullbacks Uh for the for the quins, um louise and simmons
00:52:23
Speaker
Um, let's see gay Smith Sinclair. Those are guys you want to be, uh, you, you'll want to be playing, um, for my yellows, the, the hold off so much in, in, in TRM, but go ahead and FRD or Don Branton law day. Yeah. All right. And do not start the Quinn's front row. Yeah. And FRD probably a tough, tough go over there.
00:52:42
Speaker
Have a sit, find a bench. Have a sit. All right, Bristol Luster. Well, Luster are one of the worst teams in terms of defending permission points in all formats. So there's plenty of starts to go about some of these teams. They do have a few places that they're tough, but for the most part, you're gonna be able to free roll a lot of these guys.
00:53:08
Speaker
Thacker, Pietal, Luitua, Hughes, the front row, whichever scrum half, O'Connor, Liyua, Owen Lloyd, if you ever get to start, go ahead. Jonathan was one of the top scoring props in TRM, so you're gonna go ahead and start him. And then, let's see, Vui Prothro, Morahan, and Joe Joyce, if he actually picks up a start. Probably FRD only guys.
00:53:33
Speaker
And then the one place that the Tigers are stingy, fly half. So Calum Sheedy, have a seat, buddy. Oh, interesting. It's not really something that I'm excited about, because I have them in one of my leagues. Me too. It's how it is. Yeah, hopefully Robert Dupree is playing 10 for sale. There you go. I can work around that. There you go. Lester, a lot of names, only three outright starts. Dan Cole, Genj, and Ford.
00:53:59
Speaker
Hey, yeah, that's it Bristol aren't good against props and George Ford's kind of one of those guys you have to start anyway, so yeah guys to start in TRM but not FRD mostly outside backs and centers Hardwick, Vianu, Aloha fellow, May and then vice versa for these guys Thompson, Telfoua and Leibenberg those are the flankers mostly
00:54:23
Speaker
And then outright sits at the front row. Greg Bateman, who I don't know what he's doing, but that's different story for a different day. Tom Youngs and then the two big second rows, then Green and Lavignini. If you can get away from him, get away from him in both formats.
00:54:38
Speaker
Gloucester Bath. Bath are decent against flankers, but give up points to every other forward position. They're strong against 10s and centers, and middle of the pack against the back three. Gloucester are giving up points really just to 9s and 10s. Everyone else, they're doing a good job of shutting down. So from Gloucester, play him if you got him. Moray, Morgan, Ludlow, Mostert, I'm assuming Slater's back.
00:55:04
Speaker
I don't know if he's back yet, but hopefully yeah, hopefully he's back So if he's back play him and at this point because I think he's gonna be playing resam it has got to be on Yeah, he should be on your list. You should be on your squad or at least on your radar. Yep for for frd starts and trm maybes Ackerman Heinz or simpson maybe both and you know, if you've got um, if you only have simpson and he's a reserve still might be a good option because um
00:55:33
Speaker
Yeah, who knows how they're going to mix there those spots and and true and simpson's been a try scoring machine So yeah when he's on the field, it's yeah, it's hard if he's going to see the field he could score a try, right? Um, cipriani atkinson and harris Uh, the only player I would not start from from gloster is banahan because I assume he's going to be starting Yeah, I think he has too and he's not been good
00:55:53
Speaker
Um for bath, uh start their front row in an frd. Yeah, uh chudley in priestland, um, assuming the other nine and tens the priest and priestland's had a good year. So especially especially in frd, right? Um, so he he's one to to to keep an eye on here. Um, mercer, uh mcnally, stuke, obano, stuart, mercer, come back. I have so much stock in him. I know. Um, so he's somebody who who could have a good day
00:56:20
Speaker
Uh, the yellow, so, you know, guys that start from the FRD and TRM, maybe look elsewhere. Uh, Jamie Roberts, Jonathan Joseph, Rocco de Guni and Watson. Um, and the only red from Beth for me, the guy don't start anywhere, uh, is Homer. Uh, yeah, unfortunate.
00:56:38
Speaker
Ah, right. Saracen's looking out for a little revenge against Worcester. Well, Saracen's are one of the tougher outfits in terms of fantasy to play against and bad news for a team like Worcester. Although Worcester actually are pretty stingy against fantasy teams too. So it'll be very interesting to see how much this one match kind of throws that off balance or if it continues to be the trend.
00:57:01
Speaker
But the Saracens, lots of starts, Mako, Asikwe, Faz, Cruz, Tompkins, Jenks, Mac Gallagher, Maitland, Otoje, Tompkins, even Alex Bloomington, because Worcester are bad against outside backs.
00:57:18
Speaker
Ben Earl is worth a start in TRM, but a sit in FRD, believe it or not. Either Scrum Half is worth a roll in TRM, but I'd go ahead and put him in FRD if you can. And then Sits, gonna be the names that are probably surprising, but not. Lozowski, Jackson Ray, Billy Bonapola, Brad Barrett, all of them are sits, they don't score well, and those are places that Worcester tend to be a little stingy.
00:57:43
Speaker
Um, for Worcester, I got three, three starts and a lot of air and a lot of sets. Um, I'll give you the, the starts in the air. Everybody else just considered them to set. Um, Oh, also I believe, did I mention the Saracen's front row? Probably not. Um, let me check. Uh, yeah, go ahead. I mean, yeah, start the Saracen's front row at your own risk.
00:58:09
Speaker
Yeah, Worcester are actually decent about against it. For Worcester, back to Worcester. Three names that will go right on your team sheet probably anyway, Ted Hill and WhoGuard and then actually Ethan Waller is probably worth a roll out there if you need a prop. We're in TRM only and Bresler in FRD only. Everybody else, Pineham, front row included.
00:58:33
Speaker
And in what's going to turn out to be, I'm sure it's going to just be a lovely bow on the weekend of rugby, the London Irish versus Exeter. My anticipation for this match is going to be a severely depowered Exeter team. It's still a shit show. Yes. That doesn't change who I would actually start so much. It does mean that you get a couple of players in London Irish who, if you got them on your squad, yeah, you might want to start them over.
00:59:01
Speaker
Certain Exeter players, right and it's certainly not um If they were playing a full power Exeter side, which I again, I doubt to see. Yeah, we'll see So for for the Irish start their front row because they've been doing pretty pretty decently Frd
00:59:18
Speaker
That also translates to Ollie Hoskins in TRM. Yes, one of the top scoring props in TRM. Yes, he is. Tui Tui has done pretty well at eight, and I think we'll continue that. Cowan, Rona, Van Der Merwe, and Coleman, I think, are other guys you should be, you should have on your radar there. I'm not sure about them for FRD, but for TRM, Myler or Philip Phipps, whoever gets the start,
00:59:47
Speaker
At 9 you should me in or is it I'm sorry. My yeah, it is me in yeah Myler and Phipps. Sorry. Yeah, that's what I had fair enough But if me in is starting sit him away from him. Yeah, certainly an FRD For Exeter
01:00:11
Speaker
start their front row in F.R.D.. Hopefully, Gary Williams isn't a complete helmet. Well, you won't have to worry about him playing this week. That's true. That's true. Yandel and Luke, Cowan Dickey, whoever's playing, I think Yandel is at least recovered. I'm not sure how much he's going to be playing. Yeah. And I'm not sure if they would play him in this match at all. No, I don't think they'd risk him in this one.
01:00:32
Speaker
So I'm expecting a little bit more Luke, how and Dickey, even with the depowered side, I'm guessing he'll get significant time. The Exeter props, whoever they are playing, if you got him on your squad, play him. Hill, you don't take him off the field. Johnny Hill. Unless Exeter takes him off the field. Vermullen, Kvesic, Kirsten, Armand, I think you'll see a lot of Joe Simmons if he's playing and O'Flaherty if he's playing, I think could have a good match.
01:01:02
Speaker
The yellows are Whitten and Devoto neither of them are doing a whole lot in terrifying in TRM, but an FRD You might be stuck. So who knows problem of them? Yeah, no Reds for exit or if they're starting somebody And they're available for you an FRD. I'm sorry. Yeah an FRD take you go ahead. Yeah consideration
01:01:24
Speaker
And to end the weekend, this will be interesting, WOS and Northampton. Northampton are one of the Stinger outfits out there. WOS are one of the, they're actually pretty good in, I think it was TR, it was FRD rather, they're pretty good, but TRM, they're pretty loose, so funny how that works, depending on format.
01:01:42
Speaker
Anywho, for the Wasps. A lot of names that you know and love. Dan Robson, either Hooker, Taylor, or Cruz. Jack Willis, my man. Nizemkar, Vailanu, Thomas Young, Kiberige, all worth throwing out there. Kiberige is actually scoring really well in both formats. Usually he hasn't been super match or dependent either.
01:02:03
Speaker
Um, one match format dependent guy. That's Malakai Fekitoa. Yeah. He scored great last week in both, but he's better in FRD than he is TRM. And then the rest are sits. Um, but soap Wagga is, it should be available for selection. I guess he's been sick. That's just been a big problem. That's why he hasn't, we haven't seen a lot of him. Uh, umaga monotsey, the front row and big Joe launch, Bray have a pine.
01:02:30
Speaker
and the Saints. Oh, there's going to be a lot of names and you can roll most of them out there. Rarnack Law is Ludlum. They should all be guys that go right in your team no matter what. Harrison and Gibson. Nairavarro is another guy that needs to go right in your team. Hutchinson, same thing. Proctor, if he plays, go ahead. Even Pierce Francis in TRM especially. I know he's
01:02:50
Speaker
a fly half in FRD, so it's kind of eh, but that's okay. Furbank, Jamie Gibson, Dan Bigger, or Grayson, whichever one starts, go ahead. The front row is not a good one this year for FRD, but this is one of the better matchups, so you can feel okay about it. Mikey Haywood, I would go ahead and roll out there, and Tom Collins definitively do that.
01:03:15
Speaker
The, in TRM, wasps are actually stingy against props. That's something that's kind of coming up, but, you know, not that Northampton have any props to everybody at home about, but Alex Waller and Ben Wick are their most owned ones. So those of you that have them, get away.
01:03:30
Speaker
Get away, get away, get away. For the most part, the wasps are paying the ass to locks, so Moon and Appy are gonna be guys that you wanna sit. Laws is not a start, you can't get away from them anyway. Tawala, ribbons, Tom Wood all have a seat. And, start of the week. Well, my start of the week is Mr. Charles Pyotow.
01:03:57
Speaker
He has been tearing it up, and unfortunately for the lesser Tigers, they're about to experience him across there, and again, they are the leakiest team through both formats, I think, or if not one of, and it's, Piatal has just been scoring well on both formats, so Charles Piatal is my start of the week.
01:04:21
Speaker
My start of the week, it's tough. Again, we don't know what some of these teams are putting out. But just the way that the matchup is too good with Quinn's giving up a lot of points to eight men, the most in the premiership. And Daniel Dupree is sitting there being all a very good eight men. So I'm going to go with DDP.
01:04:45
Speaker
Dan do Priya. I like it Yeah, I do have I do have a record of all the pics that we've made. Yeah, you now have you now have
01:04:57
Speaker
Jack Yandell available for your next pick for permission Because you I said we can't pick the same guy six six weeks. Gotcha six weeks in a row. Oh, so I have okay All right. Yeah, we within six weeks can't pick the same guy. So Jack Yandell is Hopefully he's available soon anyway start of the week this week. Not that yeah, it wasn't gonna happen this way But yeah, and there's a bunch of other names in there. I
01:05:20
Speaker
Anyway, digress. City of the Week, well, guess what? Same match. They are in absolute pain in the ass and this is now a thing. We're seven matches into the season. It's a thing. Sail are a tough go. They're tough against half backs and you all own this guy probably, or a lot of you own this guy. Didn't care.
01:05:40
Speaker
I would get away from him. If you can TRM, it'll be a lot easier. FRD, I know it's tough, but if you can find a half-back that's playing against a team not named Sail, try it.
01:05:53
Speaker
Um, I'm going to go, uh, with staying with my own same match. Um, and, uh, so, so we have, uh, DDP is my start of the week. My sit of the week is Simon hammers Lee last week. Did I? Yes. He's just a don't, don't start him. He sucks. You picked him last week. Fine. I'll move away from that and I'll stick with the same position. Different match. Uh, Tom Homer.
01:06:17
Speaker
Oh, that also also a good idea. Yeah, I I I agree with that one. Atta boy. Good. Tom Homer's not good either. No. Yeah, he's not going to have the match he had against freaking Irish after he had that intercept. Right. He had he's had one or two decent matches this year. Fantasy wise. Yeah. And that's and that's it. That was probably one of them. Yeah. So, yeah. All right. Let's do some pick them and we can eat it.
01:06:46
Speaker
Yeah, the aforementioned sale in Quinn's. Oh, boy. This one's tough because neither so neither of these teams are doing as well as they should. Both are outside the top six right now, which is baffling. They're tied for points. But yeah, I fuck. This is just not it. But it's at sale. Right. Flip a fucking coin.
01:07:12
Speaker
I'm gonna go with the team that's playing the, the, the better rugby in my eyes and that'll be the Quinn's. I think I'm going to go with the same because Bathard, I mean, it's like, sale or just not. Yeah, it's not pretty. It's not pretty right now. And I think, I think Quinn's can rock up and steal one and I'm not sure that sale are capable of rocking up right now. So yeah, they have, they've got some answers to provide soon here.
01:07:34
Speaker
And quins are going to be a little salty after that that tie that loss. Yep. Yeah. Felt like a loss. Um, what's your Bristol Bristol Bristol Bristol's.
01:07:47
Speaker
uh, Gloucester and Bath. Uh, it's at King's home. So I'm going to go with the, the Gloucester man. Me too. If it was, if this was at the bog, uh, I might go with the question. That would be, that would be, that would be an interesting match actually to see Gloucester slowed down by that bog. See how that would work out. Yeah. It will happen soon. Uh, Saracens and Worcester. Saracens are going to be very angry bunch. So I'm going to go ahead and even if it's a depowered Saracens team, I'm going to back this. I don't think they're going to depower for this one. I think they're going to at least not, not,
01:08:16
Speaker
No, they won't well because next week they have sprays After and that'll be there. That'll be at Liberty and I they could put a half team out there and probably walk all over them. So right Assuming that the ospreys have pulled their head out of their ass, which I don't think they have like they're judging judging by Squidge's comments. I think it was On Twitter. Yeah, I think ospreys are still struggling somebody went after him and I was just like fucking
01:08:41
Speaker
Dude, Squidge is one of the most awesome guys out there. Go away. Don't go after Squidge. Don't be a dick to Squidge. Yeah, be nice to Squidge. I'm London Irish in Exeter, Exeter.
01:08:51
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yes. I think we're going to agree down the line here. Yeah. Was Northampton. The only hesitation I have is this is that it's at the Rico. They could have soap water back, but he's been sick. So that's the only that's the one thing that's going to lead me towards Northampton. If they had soap water healthy, not having been sick for like three weeks, I might go. I might consider the loss. But because I think there's just too much coming at them.
01:09:18
Speaker
I mean they they really weren't I mean wasps Didn't handle bristol very well bristol kind of made a lot of mistakes. Um, I I see A lot of similarities similarities between bristol and northampton, but northampton is just a lot better. Yeah But they play similar styles. Uh, so so I think there's gonna be a lot of opportunities for for the saints And I think they have guys that'll take advantage of of those opportunities better than bristol did yeah, so i'm going with the saints there fair point
01:09:46
