Artificery is back with episode 3 to discuss this week's happening with  Star Wars Unlimited, inlcuding new spoilers and some news we didn't talk  about last week from Spiel.

Transcript

Speaker: Welcome back.

Speaker: This is the Artificery Podcast, episode three for Star Wars Unlimited.

Speaker: Once again, we're joined by myself, the Gandork, as your host, and we have Garrett, aka Zero Hour, and Nick, other Nick, aka Taxter.

Speaker: And we're going to talk about what's been going on in Star Wars Unlimited this week.

Speaker: Um...

Speaker: Cool stuff.

Speaker: Cool.

Speaker: Cool stuff's going on this week.

Speaker: Does anyone have like any updates decks they played or anything to talk about this week?

Speaker: I'll go to tack first.

Speaker: I don't think I played a whole lot that was new.

Speaker: I played against Han.

Speaker: I've played a little bit of Han on felt table, but I haven't played any TTS or in person, anything with him yet.

Speaker: He's cool.

Speaker: I think, I think he's going to be fun.

Speaker: I think he's got a lot of potential.

Speaker: He can do some nasty stuff with his bonus round, get all the things out at seven mana right early.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I like how it felt like the public perception of him was like, he's trash.

Speaker: And then like, as soon as people started playing it, like instantly flipped.

Speaker: Yup.

Speaker: I haven't gotten to see much of the Falcon yet, which we'll talk about later.

Speaker: Um, what else?

Speaker: Um,

Speaker: I think IG-88 is also new since then, and I still don't think that there's really a good place for him, even with the aggression cards we've seen this week.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I haven't played a whole lot of new stuff, though.

Speaker: Just kind of jamming.

Speaker: I like Luke a lot.

Speaker: I feel like he's just kind of fun to play, and he has a lot of cool cards already to kind of go with all of them.

Speaker: It's just a

Speaker: bunch of unique with Ezra Kanan and Yoda Obi-Wan like you got a lot of Jedi there I feel like if we get a lot more or any more cards that's just support like some force user or Jedi theme stuff I think that'll be awesome I mean we have that much Jedi stuff in this this set but maybe more force user stuff

Speaker: Yeah, I think we'll get more than just the one it binds all things.

Speaker: I think it's the only thing we've seen.

Speaker: There's got to be other stuff.

Speaker: We need the hero version of the Fallen Lightsaber.

Speaker: That's what I'm waiting for.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: What about you, Garrett?

Speaker: You done anything this week?

Speaker: I thought I saw you looking for some games earlier.

Speaker: Yeah, I was playing Sabine with Blue.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I just like Sabine Leader.

Speaker: I think she's a lot of fun.

Speaker: Because you can get her out so fast.

Speaker: And then it's like... You can get a card tempo with her really well, I think.

Speaker: Are you trying to load her up with upgrades?

Speaker: No, you don't even really need to.

Speaker: Just her being out.

Speaker: I get Kanan out too.

Speaker: It's like her and Kanan, they're both Spectres.

Speaker: So they can both do...

Speaker: you know you get kanan's nonsense combos with her um and then i've been i put mace in that deck and mace is nuts like on the in the right setup mace is insane like i wiped someone's they have four characters four units out and i took all of them out and mace was still standing it was nuts he's so good

Speaker: Yeah, we covered him last week.

Speaker: Some of those situations where Mace is just better than what you could even hope for out of an Overwhelming Barrage or any other single card.

Speaker: The amount of value you can get with him, very high.

Speaker: Still weird to compare him to Han, because Han can possibly live longer because he's not taking damage most of the times that you're swinging.

Speaker: But the upside on Mace is extremely high, especially if you add in equipment, upgrades or healing, because you keep him alive, he don't stop the party.

Speaker: He's just a bomb.

Speaker: He can wipe the entire board.

Speaker: It's nuts.

Speaker: Yeah, good stuff.

Speaker: I haven't really been doing much playing this week.

Speaker: I've been like busy at work all week and just haven't had time.

Speaker: But let's see, going back to last weekend with Spiel, lots of people got promos.

Speaker: Those have been going around.

Speaker: People got, we're getting autographs from the designers, which I guess whatever floats your boat.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You know, if you want to get a daddy Schaefer autograph or whatever else.

Speaker: But we also got some new like news out of Spiel.

Speaker: Like FFG did like a presentation for like, I don't know what they called it.

Speaker: I lost an opening slide that was like media content creator.

Speaker: Yeah, but like they were covering like information about the game and we got some nuggets of new information out of that or maybe not necessarily new information, but the stuff that was like reassuring, I thought.

Speaker: So we'll talk about some of this briefly and let me, oh God, that's too small.

Speaker: Let me blow this up.

Speaker: Give me a sec.

Speaker: I can do this.

Speaker: I mean, it's still pretty small.

Speaker: Like, these images were terrible because people were taking them with, like, their cell phone, like, at the presentation.

Speaker: So, like, this one is, like, an outline of what their competitive path will look like, which we have a stream coming up.

Speaker: We'll talk about this, but this gives us more information on what that'll look like.

Speaker: And it says it's the path.

Speaker: Yeah, most of this already.

Speaker: Did we, like, I'm not sure if we got... Did they get the initial organized play, like,

Speaker: Like, here's kind of what what casual is going to be.

Speaker: Here's kind of what competitive seem like that.

Speaker: We got the names of the stuff.

Speaker: I guess we probably didn't see like.

Speaker: Officially, we you kind of guess that planetary is a store level event, but like, I don't think maybe they didn't directly say that.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: And like the regional sector qualifiers destination events, as they call it, I think a key thing there that we didn't know is it's run by their official partners.

Speaker: So it's not run by FFG proper, but like, I don't know, in the past, the with Destiny, the Galactic qualifiers were run by Cascade Games, which I don't think exists anymore.

Speaker: So I'm kind of curious, like who the official partner or partners will be around these events.

Speaker: Interesting to see.

Speaker: I'm also curious, just like.

Speaker: Gen Con FFG always runs their own events at Gen Con.

Speaker: So either like, is Gen Con going to be the galactic championship or like, I guess we don't know how, if there's only going to be one a year, if there's going to be 1%, like, I don't know.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I mean, they call it the competitive season finale, but that doesn't really tell us anything.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: So, I mean, I think we'll see that in a few weeks when we get the competitive stream, they actually get the,

Speaker: the meat more on that, but it's, yeah, I think so too.

Speaker: Good to get a little bit more peek into that.

Speaker: Yeah, it was a little bit more information.

Speaker: And then, uh, this was kind of like, uh, an outline of how they view the game over time.

Speaker: So like they said, the first year of content, uh, is about foundation building, you know, keep it simple so they can ramp up over time, easier to add content later, uh, instead of trying to do too much too fast and getting it wrong.

Speaker: And then people have been discussing this.

Speaker: They consider Star Wars Unlimited, quote, evergreen in their own quotes, which they don't define what evergreen means, but they kind of go on to say that they've already started initial design on set seven, which is year three.

Speaker: And concepts have begun through set nine.

Speaker: And they have a five year roadmap that builds out additional product types, target audience considerations.

Speaker: And we've heard this before, but it's the largest dedicated staff of any game in their studio.

Speaker: Garrett, thoughts?

Speaker: I'm kind of speechless because, I mean, we all play Destiny.

Speaker: We know kind of the behind the scenes, or at least some of the behind the scenes.

Speaker: I guess turmoil might be the right word.

Speaker: And it's not the developer's fault or even really anyone working on it.

Speaker: It's just the company structure at the time.

Speaker: And I think they're trying and they're doing good things potentially.

Speaker: And that feels weird.

Speaker: But I'm excited.

Speaker: And, you know, kudos to them for going all in on this because it's their only competitive game right now.

Speaker: So they don't have any other OP to do except for like Arkham Knights and stuff.

Speaker: But that's not the same kind of thing.

Speaker: I feel like we've seen more people just on their live streams than there were total people at the company that were supporting Destiny.

Speaker: Because it was like three or four people, I feel like total for like the entire game between like designer and like we're nice play who I feel like was across multiple games at once and just had no resources for any of them.

Speaker: It's just it's completely different.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, this is obviously the biggest thing they'll have going.

Speaker: I really think like when they say Evergreen, I think.

Speaker: This is my interpretation, in other words.

Speaker: But I think what they mean is they aren't planning to sunset this at some point.

Speaker: Like...

Speaker: if you call it like in i've mostly referred evergreen refer to like you know keywords and stuff in magic and be like oh this concept or ability is evergreen which means it'll be in all of our sets but like in this context i assume evergreen means like we're putting our company behind this and we don't plan to ever end it like we're not going to sunset it like the goal is to keep it going forever um

Speaker: Now the flip side of that is like, did they plan to end destiny?

Speaker: I'm not sure if they ever planned to end destiny too.

Speaker: And anything could happen, but no, but destiny was always like, you never knew when the next set was going to come out.

Speaker: We kind of had an idea.

Speaker: It was very inconsistent.

Speaker: None of it was consistent.

Speaker: It was just kind of like, you know, I guess if evergreen kind of just means we're trying to stick to the schedule and we plan to meet that and,

Speaker: We will continue it as long as there's interest in the game and or it's profitable, I guess.

Speaker: But right.

Speaker: Yeah, for sure.

Speaker: Going on the every set is a season, which they've kind of taught.

Speaker: We I think there was nothing else new here other than the store showdowns are going to be late in set one.

Speaker: Do we take that as a as a red flag or is it fine?

Speaker: I don't know what it means, but maybe it's just to give people more time to get acclimated with the game is maybe my guess, because by the time the set two one comes out, you'll already have stuff from set one.

Speaker: And I'm assuming that you'll be able to play.

Speaker: I'm assuming it's a constructed event.

Speaker: I guess I didn't fully say, but like, I'd assume it's probably constructed and.

Speaker: you'd be able to play yeah i think the store shutdowns are constructed and it says they're one month after release of a set will be the usual schedule except set one is going to be two months after release which i guess you hope it's intentional and we it's that ffg history that we have that we go oh

Speaker: Hopefully it's not unintentional.

Speaker: And they're like, this is the soonest we can deliver store showdown kits for set one.

Speaker: We're a month behind.

Speaker: I mean, my brain on that went to that as well because of FFG's history.

Speaker: It just doesn't make sense that they wouldn't have those kits already at the same time as everything else.

Speaker: Unless they're trying to gauge initial interest in stores and try to figure out, okay, here's where the hot spots of the game are.

Speaker: We need to figure out which stores are now our...

Speaker: Like maybe they're just giving themselves an extra monthly time on figuring out who are the stores that get this.

Speaker: But I don't think this is a product shortage issue.

Speaker: No, I felt like it's a combination of that plus making sure everyone, one, understands the game, and two, has the cards they want at that point, if that makes sense.

Speaker: Because like you said, by the time set two's out, you'll have stuff and you're just doing plug and play on your deck.

Speaker: You know, some people.

Speaker: Some people, you might build a whole new deck, who knows.

Speaker: But set one is a different kind of beast.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: So this other slide, I think the only thing kind of new here is that they have that they nailed down that the set one store showdown will be May, 2024, which tracks with the two months that we previously said, um,

Speaker: I don't remember if they announced that they were going to have 32 promo cards with exclusive promos for judges, top eight, top four and champion in the brief talk of the store showdown.

Speaker: I don't quite remember.

Speaker: I think so to a degree.

Speaker: They said there was some for I don't think they showed any of the cards other than the participation.

Speaker: Yeah, and then trying to zoom in on this was the last slide that also kind of gave new information, though you could kind of suss it out off of stuff they said before.

Speaker: But they've kind of officially put in like what they want their release month schedule to look like.

Speaker: They're saying, you know, we're going to get a spark of rebellion in March, which we knew.

Speaker: And then, you know, set to July, set three, November.

Speaker: And then, you know, going into 2025, it's redacted.

Speaker: But they're looking at that March, July, November release cycle, three sets a year.

Speaker: Any thoughts on that?

Speaker: I mean, July release per second set means Gen Con's about a month into it.

Speaker: I was wondering if we're going to get like

Speaker: Before we knew the release date, I thought, oh, maybe they'll do end of March, such that it'd be like end of July.

Speaker: And then we almost have a release event at Gen Con, and maybe that's the capstone for the first set, and then kicking off drafting of the second set.

Speaker: But now this is going to be a month into it by the time we get to that one.

Speaker: And there's other conventions that are big, too.

Speaker: So I don't know if that's setting up for one of the first really big tournaments.

Speaker: I'm wondering what the set names are hinting at.

Speaker: For the next ones.

Speaker: The other sets names are just redacted.

Speaker: No, no.

Speaker: Like, they've named set B4, B4, B4, B4

Speaker: Twilight of the Republic has to be Clone Wars era.

Speaker: I mean, that's what it does sound like.

Speaker: I don't know what Shadows of the Galaxy is.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, most guesses is it's Underworld Bounty Hunter.

Speaker: The Outer Rim.

Speaker: That's what I've heard people thinking, so I just didn't know if... I don't remember if they said something.

Speaker: No, they haven't said anything.

Speaker: I think that's the pure speculation at that point.

Speaker: I want my

Speaker: What's it called?

Speaker: Crime Lord Mall?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Eight malls, really.

Speaker: That's what I'm ready for.

Speaker: I thought you were going to say you needed your lizard with a gun.

Speaker: I mean, I don't actually like Boss that much.

Speaker: No guts.

Speaker: Um, so anyway, that was the extra stuff that came out of spiel that was kind of interesting that we weren't expecting.

Speaker: Um, moving on to this week, it was the official start of aggression month.

Speaker: Um, we got a spoiler early on in the week and then FFG had their aggression stream to go into further, uh, details about like, you know, the themes behind the aggression, uh, aspect.

Speaker: Um,

Speaker: Did anybody want to talk about like what they thought of the stream?

Speaker: It was a very short stream.

Speaker: It's pretty straightforward.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: They jumped in and hit it and just went through all the things.

Speaker: Like I think what was their big, the, the, the key thing that they wanted to say was like aggression is the color of whatever it wants to do.

Speaker: It can do, which in my head I thought was a little weird.

Speaker: Cause like to some extent, like what is that?

Speaker: Like, I get, like, what that means in the cards.

Speaker: They're like, oh, if it wants to do damage, it does damage.

Speaker: If it wants to draw the cards, it draws cards.

Speaker: I think it just means, like, less conditional stuff, but then, like, there are conditional stuff with, like, initiative.

Speaker: So it's like, I don't know.

Speaker: I know.

Speaker: I think on the face, like, saying this is the set that, like, whatever it wants to do, it can do.

Speaker: sounds overpowered as a concept.

Speaker: Like, I don't know how that works, but they didn't.

Speaker: I take that as a like, so like, I don't think that he, I think Danny mentioned it.

Speaker: Like there's going to, you want to draw cards.

Speaker: There's going to be, you know, a card that just draws cards and aggression.

Speaker: And we didn't see, you know, like we saw aggression, but we didn't actually see a card that's just this card just draws you cards.

Speaker: But he alluded to that and we didn't see it.

Speaker: And I'm like, well, okay.

Speaker: So that's,

Speaker: That's kind of what he means.

Speaker: It's like we, you know, green has all those like tutors, blue, you know, like you have stuff that like when things die, you draw and like, so this is just like, nah, just, just draw it, man.

Speaker: But at the same time, it's probably going to be a more premium price.

Speaker: Like, I assume that there's a trade off in to having the most direct thing and that might be in resource cost.

Speaker: I kind of view it as like the red mage in that it kind of does what everyone does, but not as good as someone who focuses on it.

Speaker: So like, you know, cunning does what cunning does and everyone kind of does what they do, but aggression can do kind of do all of them, but not as good.

Speaker: It's not as focused, so it won't be as good as those.

Speaker: Unless it's damage.

Speaker: Sure.

Speaker: I mean, aggression is just going to hit you in the face, but yeah.

Speaker: But like, it's kind of a jack of all trades kind of thing.

Speaker: Yeah, I do find it interesting.

Speaker: And I don't know.

Speaker: They didn't really talk about it specifically, but just how the removal is different between each of the four aspects.

Speaker: Because we see that like blue has the direct, you know, just defeat a unit.

Speaker: Yellow has a bounce effect in Waylay.

Speaker: green does the fight effects or like, you know, your unit, you deal damage based off of like the power of a unit, like overwhelming barrage or like fight version of command.

Speaker: And then we had open fire and the version of, you know, the aggression card, which we'll look at in a second that just deals straight damage.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I just personally found that split up interesting, or at least that's probably the most clear delineation, I think, between the colors we've seen.

Speaker: And I think they're all pretty flexible.

Speaker: And upgrade removal.

Speaker: That's the big new one that we haven't seen any of.

Speaker: And it sounds like that's mainly going to be Red's unique-ish thing.

Speaker: Yeah, that one's kind of weird to me.

Speaker: I don't know if they can get away with just Red having upgrade removal.

Speaker: If you've played with Fallen Lightsaber some, and all of a sudden you're like, can we get just a little bit more upgrade removal?

Speaker: Because this card is kind of... Nuts.

Speaker: nuts right now and some people figure that out like flip your leader throw fallen lightsaber on it win the game is it's just doing all this damage and their leader's huge and their leader dodges all the removal um anyway yeah so we're kind of talking about the spoilers but let's i guess just start looking at them oh man my spoilers got unsized too let me blow it up uh so

Speaker: First spoiler, this was a spoiler that was first released this week for Aggression Month.

Speaker: So like the one a week that we got and base won the vote like it has, I think, for every other aspect.

Speaker: So we get the ability base for red Tarkintown.

Speaker: Just like all the other ones, you get 25 health and the epic action is you deal three damage to a damaged non-leader unit.

Speaker: Garrett, thoughts?

Speaker: I like it.

Speaker: It's, it's something that's always set, sitting there that you have to think about and you have to constantly play around it.

Speaker: You know, if you're playing against it and that sucks when you're on that side of it, but once it's used, I mean, you can, but it's also like you can bait him.

Speaker: You can bait your opponent into using it too.

Speaker: So it's, I like target town.

Speaker: I think it's cool.

Speaker: tech?

Speaker: Any thoughts?

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, it's another good... I don't think it's... I feel like I still like the green one better, but I'm also biased towards not aggro as much, too.

Speaker: So, I mean, you might still play this in not aggro.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: It's just a matter of, like, do you value the health over that one?

Speaker: I mean, three damage to a damage... If it didn't have the damage thing, like, just be able to snipe something that...

Speaker: wasn't damaged at all would be better for a control because then you don't have to worry about like the little bit of board presence you need to get that one damage out so i don't know i mean it seems like a good enough base for the the trade-off and especially especially if you're playing aggro i don't see why you wouldn't play with that yeah i think it was tyler tyler one of the the designers has been kind of doing like little

Speaker: tweets on design philosophies when cards come out.

Speaker: And he specifically, when this one came out, he said, I'm paraphrasing with something along the lines of, turns out like all the ability bases are good in aggro because aggro cares a lot less about, you know, losing the health because they either win the game quickly or they probably don't.

Speaker: So they had to design these bases to not help aggro as much.

Speaker: And I think that's kind of true.

Speaker: So like you guys said, oh, this kind of helps aggro.

Speaker: It doesn't.

Speaker: Like it does, but it doesn't.

Speaker: Because the interesting thing we've seen in the three bases is none of them actually help you deal more damage to the opponent's base.

Speaker: Like directly.

Speaker: No.

Speaker: They're all roundabout ways to do that.

Speaker: Like they're fine in aggro.

Speaker: I think aggro is still like whatever flavor of aggro you're building.

Speaker: You want, you know, the base with the ability because you don't care about losing the health.

Speaker: But they're all utility for aggro.

Speaker: They're not...

Speaker: helping you aggro harder no yeah that's true i mean that your punch maybe punch through a sentinel is like the only thing directly helping that otherwise it's just trying to help clear the board without having to spend a body on it yeah you get to do something without needing the card you want

Speaker: Yep.

Speaker: Save the cards in your hand for more units and not, you know, kill something without having to spend it.

Speaker: Anyway.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Just interesting thoughts on that.

Speaker: Moving on to my favorite spoiler of the week, the Millennium Falcon.

Speaker: This is a another legendary.

Speaker: I don't know how many legendaries rubbed you now.

Speaker: I'd have to go back and count, but it is a cunning heroism unit.

Speaker: Three costs space, obviously, but

Speaker: Uh, it's a three, four underworld vehicle transport key, uh, noteworthy that it's also not rebel.

Speaker: Like the whole Han Chewbacca line has been in this set.

Speaker: Uh, but it enters play ready, but when you ready cards during the regroup phase, and this is after you ready the cards, you either have to pay one of your resources or return this unit to her owner's hand.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: They correctly gender the Falcon, uh, tack thoughts on Falcon.

Speaker: I mean, it seems really good.

Speaker: Like, that's what we've seen from most of the Legendaries.

Speaker: Things you want to play in a lot of decks.

Speaker: I mean, the super synergy is with Han ability because you just pay for it with the resource you're going to have to destroy with Han.

Speaker: So, there's no real downside in doing that one.

Speaker: I mean, I don't know how often...

Speaker: I mean, it just, I don't know how often you're going to be paying that versus like not paying it to get a bounce back so that it gets fully healed, et cetera.

Speaker: Like it just depends.

Speaker: Like a three, four body isn't huge in the late game where you're going to be more likely paying for the thing.

Speaker: So like, I don't know that you're going to pay to get it back or not pay it to get a bounce back in the later game, but

Speaker: It's a weird trade-off.

Speaker: I don't know how it plays.

Speaker: I have not played with the Falcon yet, but it also seems like you get that early and you could maybe slap some upgrades on it and that it's going to slap pretty hard too.

Speaker: For sure.

Speaker: Garrett?

Speaker: Yeah, I like it.

Speaker: I mean, it plays, like you said, really well with the Haunt ability to drop that turn one and just knock someone out or, you know, just hit the base for three.

Speaker: It's just strong.

Speaker: I mean, just keeping it around, you don't even have to.

Speaker: You can just pull it back to your hand, use it as a resource.

Speaker: You know, you can do whatever you need to do.

Speaker: I like it.

Speaker: I mean, in fact, you're always going to get value because it comes into play ready like that.

Speaker: That's the part that's really hard to like.

Speaker: And we don't have a lot that does that right now.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: No, I like Falcon a lot.

Speaker: Like, I feel like in my opinion, this might be one of the best legendaries we've seen.

Speaker: I think I might edge it over.

Speaker: Boba Fett, but like I might, like if Tack is a control player at heart, I'm an aggro player at heart, and I look at this and be like, I want stuff that comes into play ready and like

Speaker: By round three, this has already done six damage to my opponent's base, maybe.

Speaker: Or I put the hard point blaster or whatever it is, the green one, in a green deck.

Speaker: And I've done eight threatening half the damage to their base off this one card.

Speaker: It's worth paying a couple extra to have a unit that came out ready.

Speaker: And I don't know, but online reactions seem kind of hot and cold to Falcon.

Speaker: So it'll be interesting to me to see how it shakes out.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I mean, if we get some discard recursion, I think it's going to be even better.

Speaker: You know, with Han, you can just cycle it.

Speaker: I mean, you can already play it with Home 1.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Like, Home 1, that also has to feel super good.

Speaker: You get the use of the Restore.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: It's ready.

Speaker: Speaking of upgrades for it, we did get another yellow upgrade, the smuggling compartment.

Speaker: It's one cost attached to a vehicle unit specifically, and then attached unit gains on attack.

Speaker: You ready resource, and it's a plus one plus one.

Speaker: Should zoom out some.

Speaker: Oh, is it?

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Here, let me shrink.

Speaker: Better is it still not good.

Speaker: That should be good.

Speaker: Yeah, that's good.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Yeah, I think it's part of the Zencast.

Speaker: There's like auto zooming and it's like my face isn't there.

Speaker: It's trying to zoom on the card.

Speaker: Yeah, so you're losing resources to Falcon, but this is one way to gain them back.

Speaker: I mean, not all at once, but kind of like.

Speaker: I mean, I guess it's the way you put them on one for one is still fine.

Speaker: Like, it's still good.

Speaker: Yeah, like I think obviously you put it on Falcon and

Speaker: Uh, it, you pay the one at the end of your round and the next round, if you attack with Falcon first, you get your resource back.

Speaker: I think is the idea there.

Speaker: So very efficient.

Speaker: I mean, the only downside is that just like, it's not super card efficient.

Speaker: Like you might get to a point where you have not enough to play with all your resources.

Speaker: If you are playing too many small things like that, but like,

Speaker: I can see that smuggling compartment being hard to play with Han because you're already at a card disadvantage if you're cheating stuff out early.

Speaker: So yay, I have another resource to play after I've spent one and then it might not be super relevant.

Speaker: I don't think it's bad, but I don't think we've seen the fullest potential for it yet.

Speaker: And honestly, it almost feels like it fits better in a Boba deck because it just doubles down on exactly what Boba wants to do.

Speaker: I agree that it feels better than not Han deck or not using Han ability because you get... Obviously, I think you want it with the Falcon, but I think it's fine.

Speaker: If you're playing Han, you probably don't have enough cards to make it worth it all the time unless we get some kind of draw engine for him besides R2-3PO or Ezra.

Speaker: I mean, I guess Ezra's

Speaker: in there too but pseudo draw yeah yeah

Speaker: Yeah, no, I didn't.

Speaker: Yeah, going back to attacks that I do think that's probably the biggest problem with this is, or at least, you know, in most games where you have like an upgrade type card, are you going to lose that on card advantage?

Speaker: And like a lot of the time you want an upgrade that gives you enough like, you know, power and HP that like you can get an extra trade and this not isn't necessarily big enough to do that.

Speaker: So I do.

Speaker: It might be big enough to slightly keep it alive more to anything but take down.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: It really, it really sucked to put this on Falcon.

Speaker: They're like, Oh cool.

Speaker: Take down.

Speaker: Damn.

Speaker: It's got two for ones and got nothing out of it.

Speaker: So, yeah.

Speaker: Definitely lame.

Speaker: All right.

Speaker: Then going on to stream spoilers, when they were, they showed off three, four, four red cards.

Speaker: I think we have to talk about.

Speaker: First of which, this is an interesting one.

Speaker: The fighters for freedom, not freedom fighters for some reason, the fighters for freedom sounds better.

Speaker: It's a three cost ground unit in aggression, heroism.

Speaker: It's a three, four, it's a rebel trooper.

Speaker: It has saboteur,

Speaker: And when you play another aggression card, you may deal one damage to a base.

Speaker: Garrett, what do you think?

Speaker: I mean, a three, four for three is pretty solid.

Speaker: It's got a good ability, but you have to be building for it if that's where you're going for.

Speaker: Because if you're running a mostly Vigilance deck, you're probably not putting this in there.

Speaker: But if you have 75% aggression, it's worth it, I think.

Speaker: Sagittura is always good.

Speaker: I mean, if you get multiple of these out at the same time, too, that's where it really starts probably feeling gross.

Speaker: I mean, yeah, 3-4 is, you know, the Ezra stat line, which is pretty good.

Speaker: I don't know if the rest of it really can compare, but Ezra's unique as well, so... I mean, it's... I think I've seen it most compared to... What's the one that...

Speaker: The yellow.

Speaker: The rogue operative.

Speaker: The rogue operative with the three cost two, four with raid.

Speaker: I think I like the rogue operative better personally.

Speaker: Unless you are planning on getting multiple triggers off of the thing, off of the extra red cards played, so probably only in mono red.

Speaker: I don't see that being better than the operative.

Speaker: Yeah, I think that's one thing I was talking with people on Discord.

Speaker: We're already getting like a lot of three drop units in hero in particular.

Speaker: If you just go look that it actually is a choice now.

Speaker: Like how many three drops can you run in a deck or would you run like maybe 12 at max?

Speaker: I would think like, you know, four different things at three of us.

Speaker: And like if you already got like Ezra, because Ezra is really good.

Speaker: And I already got Falcon because Falcon is really good.

Speaker: Wing leader with all these rebels.

Speaker: That's amazing.

Speaker: Like,

Speaker: Then I'm all of a sudden like, do I put in fighters for freedom or rogue operatives or the lieutenant or like I'm all of a sudden just running out of space?

Speaker: Yeah, I think fine, but it's not the experience tokens.

Speaker: It gives you good, but it's a two one like it's not going to the body is not good, obviously.

Speaker: I mean, a 2-1 in space is better than a 2-1 on ground.

Speaker: That's true.

Speaker: There's less space.

Speaker: There's a decent chance you play it and they have nothing in space.

Speaker: And especially if you're aggro, like, ooh, uncontested damage.

Speaker: I just know we're going to see a lot of Vader.

Speaker: Like, leader.

Speaker: Vader's just going to be like, okay.

Speaker: Hey, Vader's the answer to, like, aggro.

Speaker: I'll play Vader all day.

Speaker: Moving on to the next card, Aggression, the namesake card.

Speaker: Another legendary following in the paths of Command and Vigilance.

Speaker: This is a four-cost event.

Speaker: You need the double Aggression to play it without any penalty.

Speaker: And you get to choose two in any order.

Speaker: All the very straightforward effects.

Speaker: You either draw a card, defeat up to two upgrades, ready a unit with three or less power, or deal four damage to a unit.

Speaker: What are your thoughts on aggression?

Speaker: I mean, I wouldn't pay six for it, but I mean, it seems like good.

Speaker: If you're doing the double red, I don't know if it's like, like, I mean, okay.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: Like if, if your opponents don't have upgrades and it is worth noting that the shields and the experience tokens are upgrades.

Speaker: They're not the most, you know, efficient use of removal on it, but if it gets you a kill, it gets you a kill.

Speaker: Um,

Speaker: I just, I can see this very being like, you'd want it to get a two for one and be like, you're really cool.

Speaker: It's like, Oh, I defeat two upgrades on a guy and then deal four damage to another guy.

Speaker: And that ends up killing two things.

Speaker: Or like maybe you deal four damage.

Speaker: I ready a guy and then you can kill another guy.

Speaker: Like, I don't know.

Speaker: I don't think you're getting two for one with it.

Speaker: I don't know what two options you're picking most of the time.

Speaker: That's, that's just like the weird part to me.

Speaker: Like, I think you're almost always taking four damage.

Speaker: I feel like that's the main reason for it.

Speaker: It's open fire for one more.

Speaker: with a bonus effect.

Speaker: Um, I don't know if you're taking the draw.

Speaker: I mean, I don't know.

Speaker: I think you're pretty much always taking the damage to a unit.

Speaker: That'd be my guess.

Speaker: And I think it's probably common too.

Speaker: You take the draw when you can't do either the other ones.

Speaker: I think it's like the default option.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I mean, it's better than milling six.

Speaker: And if you're not playing a mill game, I guess.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker: Another thing that annoys me about it, the sequencing of it, I feel like is going to get weird with like deal for damage to a unit.

Speaker: You want to do that probably like right out of the gate.

Speaker: So you want to kill an opponent's unit before they attack with it.

Speaker: But to ready a unit with three or less power, you either need to like play it or attack with something first.

Speaker: And both of those things, I think fight against each other.

Speaker: Yeah, I think that's kind of where I was feeling with it too.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I tried a mono-red deck, and it just... I mean, it was fine.

Speaker: It felt clunky, and I think that is probably one of the main reasons.

Speaker: I don't know what to pick.

Speaker: I guess I'll defeat a shield and an XP or something.

Speaker: I mean, the least conditional ones...

Speaker: are drawing and damaging.

Speaker: I feel like those are the things you can do at the start of a round pretty easily.

Speaker: Yeah, which is fine.

Speaker: I just don't know.

Speaker: Is drawing a card and dealing four worth it?

Speaker: Like, I mean, it's fine.

Speaker: It's open fire plus draw for one.

Speaker: Like, it's fine.

Speaker: It's not like,

Speaker: I've been messing with it in my Sabine deck.

Speaker: And I think if I'm going to pay an extra two for one of these, I think vigilance is better.

Speaker: Um, you know, in most decks so far, who knows what we're going to see.

Speaker: Um, but right now I think it's better.

Speaker: Uh, but for four, I like it.

Speaker: I just, at six, I couldn't, I couldn't get it to work right at six.

Speaker: Cause I,

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: The four damage is good, but if you're paying six, I got to be doing more than four damage to something.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, drawing a single card isn't worth three more resources over open fire.

Speaker: No.

Speaker: Feels like a very expensive card.

Speaker: Moving on.

Speaker: The Disabling Fang Fighter, the first bit of, well, the second bit?

Speaker: I don't remember.

Speaker: They showed this first and then aggression.

Speaker: So this was the first bit of upgrade hate that we saw.

Speaker: But it's a three-cost, single aggression unit, space unit.

Speaker: It's a 3-2 Mandalorian vehicle fighter that when played, you may defeat an upgrade.

Speaker: Very simple.

Speaker: Garrett, what do you think about this one?

Speaker: I mean, 3-2 stats for 3 isn't great, but I like defeating an upgrade, especially if Fall and Lightsaber is going to be around.

Speaker: And as Tack was saying, a 3-2 in space is better than a 3-2 on ground.

Speaker: So I don't think it's awful, and I think once we see something that boosts Mandalorians, I think it's going to be even better.

Speaker: Because you have Dodonna for Rebels and

Speaker: i forget who it is for imperials because i mean most of the players veers um you know you give them the plus one plus one and i think once we see something that makes mandalorian trade better it's probably even going to be better for three yeah attack i like this card i mean i don't i'm trying to think of like

Speaker: where it slots in a deck and construct it.

Speaker: I think this is a great draft card because you'll be able to kill shield something.

Speaker: I think it's great for a common just to have a ship with a decent body.

Speaker: That's a decent enough body for a draft ship and the bonus effect.

Speaker: If this reads 3-2 ship, ping a shield off something, you probably still do that in some cases.

Speaker: Yeah, I think 3-2 ping a shield is on value, or even ping an experience is on value.

Speaker: As long as you can get one of those things.

Speaker: If you play it for nothing, it's kind of sucky.

Speaker: Yeah, it's kind of sucky, but like...

Speaker: I think that it's not going to be too uncommon to find something like, and if you're running up against it, doesn't play those, you can just resource it.

Speaker: And it's probably not the worst to still have in your deck.

Speaker: I don't know if it'll be a constructed play though.

Speaker: I mean, it just depends on how much it doesn't like either deck.

Speaker: And control decks too.

Speaker: And speaking of all the three drops, I said that we had too many of figuring out what you fit in your deck.

Speaker: Here's another one.

Speaker: In that deck.

Speaker: The one thing... Yeah, to take this in a slightly different direction, the one thing I thought of when I saw this early, one of my first thoughts was if we get side decks and constructed...

Speaker: We haven't heard anything of competitive play, but if we get side decks and constructed... Oh, yeah.

Speaker: This might see a lot of side deck play.

Speaker: Oh, I'm going against a deck that's flipping their leader and putting Fallen Lightsaber on it.

Speaker: Time to bring these in.

Speaker: Counter that play.

Speaker: I'm going to be a two of in a sideboard for me.

Speaker: So, yeah, I think that's where this gets interesting.

Speaker: But we haven't heard that.

Speaker: Like, I'm personally fans of sideboards.

Speaker: I know if you ask the community...

Speaker: What's that?

Speaker: Is that common on a lot of competitive CCGs right now?

Speaker: It's Magic, obviously, is the biggest.

Speaker: And they've had about a 15-card sideboard.

Speaker: The thing is, is magic.

Speaker: You don't see any, like, is this a, I see your leader.

Speaker: I see your base.

Speaker: Now I make my decision before then, or no, I mean, I can't, I don't know how they were doing games two and three though.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You have a straight up deck list and then you can sideboard between the two.

Speaker: And after, after game one, you can sideboard.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Because you're giving someone information by seeing their leader here.

Speaker: It would be a little unfair to auto-tech into the answer.

Speaker: I agree.

Speaker: But if we get a 10-card sideboard, something like that, that we can swap out after game one, I like that.

Speaker: But who knows?

Speaker: I'm always a fan of sideboards.

Speaker: Some people say that you are a poor deck planner.

Speaker: You need to put it all in the main deck.

Speaker: Instead of a 50-card deck, right?

Speaker: Yep, right.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: Anyway, that was the thought that I had there that I don't know how it gets played, but if we get side decks, it becomes like something that you'll see three of us all over the place.

Speaker: Last and probably the least, I probably should have changed these in order so we would get more interesting things, but we have the Wampa, which is a four cost single aggression aspect ground unit.

Speaker: That is a four or five creature with overwhelm, almost a vanilla.

Speaker: It reminds me of the base Ice Yeti from, what's it called?

Speaker: Hearthstone from the original Hearthstone set.

Speaker: The base 4 cost 4-5 Yeti.

Speaker: Here it is here.

Speaker: He's got to overwhelm this time because this game is cooler, I guess.

Speaker: I want to play WAPA.

Speaker: I put Entrenched on it.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker: Because that's hilarious.

Speaker: It's actually pretty good.

Speaker: Other than that, I don't particularly like this.

Speaker: I mean, it's fine in draft, I'm sure.

Speaker: I would take this in a draft.

Speaker: But, like, yeah, drop Entrenched on that thing and it becomes a 7-8.

Speaker: That can one-shot Luke.

Speaker: That's a systematic.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: A good damage base.

Speaker: Like, yeah, I'm into that.

Speaker: It makes sense that he's entrenched.

Speaker: He hides in his cave.

Speaker: He should come with entrenched.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: Too bad we don't have Sean Yeti back because this is his card.

Speaker: He has to change his Discord profile to the Wampa art.

Speaker: He's Yeti.

Speaker: Maybe when he gets back from his vacation.

Speaker: Anyway, that wraps up the last of the spoilers that we got.

Speaker: And we covered the Spiel presentation.

Speaker: So that's kind of like all the news from this week, I think.

Speaker: Unless I'm forgetting something.

Speaker: Is there anything that I was missing that anyone can think of?

Speaker: The Game Genic stuff?

Speaker: The tokens and whatnot?

Speaker: But that might have been last week.

Speaker: Yeah, we had heard about that, I think.

Speaker: I don't think that was anything new this week, yeah.

Speaker: I don't think we talked about it.

Speaker: They did have the prices on some of those things, which I thought was interesting.

Speaker: That's going to make me go broke.

Speaker: With the deck boxes.

Speaker: Yeah, I think like the single deck boxes.

Speaker: 30 or 40?

Speaker: I can't remember.

Speaker: I don't need that.

Speaker: That's what I got that for.

Speaker: Your enclosure?

Speaker: My 3D printer.

Speaker: Oh, your 3D printer?

Speaker: I was like, oh, the enclosure around your 3D printer.

Speaker: Yeah, I'm just going to bring my 3D printer with like decks in it.

Speaker: No.

Speaker: I can't bring that because there won't be, they need the power outlets for the vending machines.

Speaker: Nice.

Speaker: Yeah, but yeah, so I don't know.

Speaker: I'll be the guy that's I've half contemplated calling the store and being like, can you just like preorder me like one of each color of the deck boxes?

Speaker: I'll pay the 200 whatever bucks right up front just to have them.

Speaker: The doubles or the singles?

Speaker: Are you going to get all the singles?

Speaker: Yeah, I think I would get all the single ones, which I don't know.

Speaker: I like better and I like that you can mix and match the lids, which I thought was really cool.

Speaker: Yeah, the singles.

Speaker: I don't know if I care about the doubles, but I'll probably eventually have a whole set of the singles, one in each color.

Speaker: Can you mix and match the lids on each flap of the double?

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I don't remember seeing that one.

Speaker: Maybe.

Speaker: I still have my ultimate guard boxes from.

Speaker: from Destiny times that were not great for Destiny, but will actually be good for a regular card game.

Speaker: A regular game.

Speaker: I just use these.

Speaker: The photo box thing?

Speaker: Oh, the classic.

Speaker: The Ultra Pro Hunter.

Speaker: The classics, those things, yeah.

Speaker: I actually have both of them.

Speaker: I have the starter decks I printed out both in there right now, actually, that I've been bringing to the game store.

Speaker: Worked well for Destiny.

Speaker: Yeah, I think you can mix match the lids on the double pods.

Speaker: They mix match too.

Speaker: Gotta buy them all.

Speaker: Just gotta collect them all.

Speaker: 60 for the doubles.

Speaker: I might get one double and then I'll probably get a token set.

Speaker: I don't know if one token set is really going to be enough that I want or not.

Speaker: I think one token set is enough for one player.

Speaker: I'll probably end up getting the Curled Paw ones whenever they release the set if they haven't already.

Speaker: They haven't yet, but yeah.

Speaker: I mean, I don't dislike my Destiny tokens.

Speaker: It's just they are very insufficient for base damage because they're ones and threes.

Speaker: So good for units, terrible for bases.

Speaker: So I definitely want the Game Gen X for that.

Speaker: That's why I got my Shatterpoint printed tokens here.

Speaker: Oh, okay.

Speaker: We'll just get Garrett to print us all fancy tokens.

Speaker: All the tokens.

Speaker: We'll be running that thing forever.

Speaker: Anyway, yeah, that's all we got for today.

Speaker: Thanks, everyone, for tuning in.

Speaker: And, you know, we'll be back next week with episode four, probably with at least one more aggression spoiler at minimum.

Speaker: Aggression.

Speaker: Aggression.

Speaker: Maybe at some point I can, you know, convince FFG to give us a spoiler that we'll actually be able to share.

Speaker: Maybe.

Speaker: Can we get one now?

Speaker: Spoiler.

Speaker: Let's get something with Mil.

Speaker: Let's get a Mil spoiler.

Speaker: An aggression?

Speaker: We gotta wait till we wrap back into Vigilance Month Part 2.

Speaker: Yes, Vigilance Month Part 2.

Speaker: I'm the only Mil player.

Speaker: I'm gonna advocate for Mil spoilers.

Speaker: I didn't like Mil and Destiny, but...

Speaker: I don't know.

Speaker: I like Kanan a lot.

Speaker: He's one of my favorite characters in modern Star Wars.

Speaker: So he makes me want to play Mill.

Speaker: I mean, he is Mill, but he's not.

Speaker: Like, they haven't.

Speaker: I haven't seen, like, a lot of dedicated Mill stuff.

Speaker: Like, it's kind of soft Mill.

Speaker: No, we got Kanan and Vigilance.

Speaker: Yeah, that's it.

Speaker: That's it.

Speaker: And Yoda, you make them draw extra cards.

Speaker: Ah, that's true.

Speaker: And mind trick them to play the extra cards.

Speaker: That's not my favorite.

Speaker: That's not my favorite way of milling is I don't really want to give you the cards.

Speaker: I would much rather just destroy them from you.

Speaker: I do like the funny because mill in this game, you take the damage when you can't draw.

Speaker: So you can get to the point where you lose the Yoda and you make them take damage because they can't draw the cards.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: You just have to mill them first.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker: That's the problem.

Speaker: I mean, I haven't even gotten close to decking yet in any game I've played, so.

Speaker: All right.

Speaker: Anyway, that's enough.

Speaker: We'll see everyone later.

Speaker: Bye.

Speaker: Bye.
