Introduction of Hosts
00:00:05
Speaker
Welcome back to episode two of the Artificery Podcast.
00:00:11
Speaker
I'm your stand-in host, Nick, aka TheGandork.
00:00:14
Speaker
And with me, we've got Garrett, aka ZeroHour, and the other Nick, aka Taxter.
00:00:20
Speaker
Who doesn't have much of a voice this time.
00:00:22
Speaker
Who doesn't have much of a voice, but he's powering through because we have a lot to talk about today.
Missing Co-hosts Humor
00:00:27
Speaker
I got a Nick sandwich today.
00:00:31
Speaker
We are missing Sean and Wyatt this week.
00:00:34
Speaker
Sean is in Iceland because good for him, I guess.
00:00:39
Speaker
Hope he's enjoying it.
00:00:40
Speaker
And I don't remember what Wyatt was up to, but he was busy doing things.
00:00:45
Speaker
But hopefully they'll be back in following weeks.
00:00:47
Speaker
But for now, you're stuck with us.
00:00:49
Speaker
So hopefully we can have some good insight.
00:00:52
Speaker
Though I just realized, though, we lost the two guys that were like...
00:00:56
Speaker
the most don't know anything like we're both gonna play like the bitter person that like or the you know the cynical take on the game and then they're like they're they're both trying to one-up each other to take it to like how about we just don't show up to the second podcast that's how cynical we are so that's kind of funny um all right so uh
00:01:20
Speaker
Let's just start with like, what have you guys been up to in Star Wars Unlimited this week or since the last time
Star Wars Unlimited Activities
00:01:28
Speaker
Let's just kind of give an update, like if you tried any new decks, if you played any games.
00:01:34
Speaker
Have you ran some demos for people?
00:01:37
Speaker
I'll go ahead and start with Garrett first.
00:01:39
Speaker
Yeah, I brought last week.
00:01:43
Speaker
Last week we recorded on Wednesday and my local store plays Shatterpoint on Thursday.
00:01:48
Speaker
So I went Thursday to play and I brought my demo decks.
00:01:53
Speaker
I don't know if they're the general, whatever the 50 card decks are, the real.
00:02:00
Speaker
I brought those and there was several people that were that came up like, what's that?
00:02:04
Speaker
So they got to learn a new game.
00:02:07
Speaker
I gave my store a copy of them because I had an extra copy.
00:02:11
Speaker
That's a good idea.
00:02:14
Speaker
What did you print them on that you were okay
Demo Decks and Gaming Strategies
00:02:17
Speaker
Like, did you print it on card stock instead of like, okay.
00:02:21
Speaker
No, I printed them on just regular paper and then I just put them in front of old Destiny cards.
00:02:27
Speaker
Oh, that you don't care giving it away or anything?
00:02:29
Speaker
I have a bajillion cards from Destiny that are just commons from all the drafting we did at Worlds.
00:02:36
Speaker
So that's what I used for them.
00:02:38
Speaker
Yeah, no, that's good.
00:02:38
Speaker
Like, I had that same idea, like,
00:02:41
Speaker
Today, as we'll get into it either, when I was messaging my store, it's like, oh, I should print out a separate demo deck or a separate set of starter decks to leave at the store.
00:02:50
Speaker
And then maybe I could convince the people at the store to like, hey, if people are interested, show them this game when they come in and try to sell them on pre-order.
00:02:57
Speaker
So that's a good idea.
00:03:00
Speaker
I hadn't thought of.
00:03:00
Speaker
Well, I kind of thought of it.
00:03:02
Speaker
But you actually implemented it.
00:03:12
Speaker
Did you win whatever tournament you were there for?
00:03:14
Speaker
Oh, for Shatterpoint?
00:03:16
Speaker
No, Thursday nights is just the Shatterpoint play night.
00:03:21
Speaker
So I just went and brought those to play after.
00:03:26
Speaker
How about you, Tach?
00:03:29
Speaker
Well, I went to play on
00:03:32
Speaker
late night gaming on last Saturday and that was fun.
00:03:36
Speaker
Pretty much mostly just played hoops all removal Vader that Nick has also talked about previously.
00:03:44
Speaker
in some of the community discord and we talked about what would be a fun deck to bring to late night game.
00:03:49
Speaker
And he's like, you should play this Vader that has a bunch of removal.
00:03:52
Speaker
I'm like, I like control decks.
00:03:55
Speaker
Um, it was pretty fun.
00:03:56
Speaker
Like it, it didn't beat everything.
00:03:59
Speaker
It certainly feels like it has weird holes, especially when they have like tons of like dudes out on the field.
00:04:05
Speaker
You, you're, you're not trading with the units cause most of your stuff is events and,
00:04:11
Speaker
units that deal damage so like it's it's hard to like get ahead against too many threats um and it can be hard to keep up with like the really early aggro from like a leia type of deck which did me in good
00:04:28
Speaker
And Ezra just drew like four turns in a row.
00:04:30
Speaker
And he's like, I can't deal with Ezra.
00:04:33
Speaker
And like there's other threats and Ezra just keeps increasing card advantage.
00:04:37
Speaker
It was the perfect example of like how good Ezra
Card Analysis and Game Release
00:04:40
Speaker
If you leave that man alone, he just does disgusting things.
00:04:45
Speaker
I've had some people be like, oh, he seems so random, but it's like, it's randomly game breaking, which is fine.
00:04:52
Speaker
Like his floor is a grid sized unit, but like his ceiling is sky high.
00:04:57
Speaker
This floor is fine stats and R2 ability.
00:05:02
Speaker
And then sometimes you just do really cheaty things off the top of your deck.
00:05:08
Speaker
But yeah, no, like that's the one thing like I noticed, I thought with the weakness of the Vader deck, like it seems those decks that like play two units a turn, like it's very like one to one removal.
00:05:18
Speaker
And I feel like it's missing some kind of board wipe.
00:05:20
Speaker
We need a spoiler of like, give me something.
00:05:25
Speaker
Yeah, give me, like, hit two units even.
00:05:27
Speaker
Or, like, I need to be able to... Yeah, any kind of multi-target would... I mean, that isn't Overwhelming Barrage.
00:05:33
Speaker
That's the only one we have.
00:05:35
Speaker
Yeah, Overwhelming Barrage.
00:05:36
Speaker
Yeah, and that's not in that version of Vader.
00:05:38
Speaker
Maybe it should be kind of in that aspect.
00:05:40
Speaker
Like, I don't know.
00:05:44
Speaker
Vader can hit two units, though.
00:05:46
Speaker
But, you know, if you're only doing two damage to it, it's got to be a weak one.
00:05:50
Speaker
I mean, part of it is maybe I could have played it better, too, in a sense of, like...
00:05:55
Speaker
when Vader comes out, like really, really making sure he doesn't die.
00:05:59
Speaker
Like half the times it's like, yeah, he did, he did stuff, but then eventually he might die.
00:06:05
Speaker
But if you know, if you if you keep jacking him up and making him swole and then he never dies, then then he can also be your big over only brush target.
00:06:15
Speaker
Yeah, I put the list up.
00:06:16
Speaker
This was my version.
00:06:17
Speaker
I think you had made yours slightly different because I got to save or I saved it wrong or something that right before I imported it.
00:06:25
Speaker
And there was a few cards that I would that I did differently.
00:06:28
Speaker
I don't even remember what I know I didn't have.
00:06:30
Speaker
I didn't have the one cost stormtroopers, which
00:06:33
Speaker
Would have been nice in some instances.
00:06:35
Speaker
Yeah, I think the one-cost Stormtroopers are needed for those matchups, like you said, where you got Leia.
00:06:40
Speaker
You're like, I just need something cheap.
00:06:42
Speaker
Just get out of there.
00:06:44
Speaker
Yeah, cheaply turns on Vader's ability as well, which is always kind of a nice upside some turns to make sure you get it out.
00:06:51
Speaker
And then as far as you're talking about making Vader live, I have the three repairs in there, which is a card I think some people are kind of cold on because it's kind of boring.
00:06:59
Speaker
But the end win condition for this deck is Vader.
00:07:04
Speaker
or Emperor, but keeping Vader alive.
00:07:06
Speaker
So being able to repair Vader is sometimes very important to get that extra three health and make sure he doesn't die.
00:07:14
Speaker
I mean, the most fun matchup probably was the all-control Vader versus a lot of control, but McBobber was playing him as a
00:07:28
Speaker
So just trying to build the big Vader with all the upgrades and that going kind of all in big on that.
00:07:33
Speaker
And it just the end, like I use vigilance to yield 10 for my base because I fell behind early.
00:07:40
Speaker
I think I healed with at least one repair on base.
00:07:43
Speaker
And then I ended up winning because I milled six with the with a third vigilance.
00:07:48
Speaker
And because it just did we just got to that point where we got to the middle end like.
00:07:55
Speaker
Did you find Vigilance was worth playing even out of its aspect?
00:08:02
Speaker
It's so expensive and does not feel worth it until it is.
00:08:07
Speaker
In those late game situations, it's still fine and worth it, but it feels like a very bad card early, and you don't even want to play it at six.
00:08:16
Speaker
I feel like you want to play it later.
00:08:20
Speaker
Because the shield, when you only have a bunch of little stuff, yeah, maybe the shield's gun on Vader, but it's probably going to be try to kill something and heal your base.
00:08:32
Speaker
That's probably the most common thing, because you just need to not die.
00:08:35
Speaker
I've been looking at putting that and stuff out of Aspect.
00:08:40
Speaker
I think it's great at 4.
00:08:40
Speaker
But at 6, it's good, but I don't...
00:08:50
Speaker
I think it's like what he said, like there's only two, like the shield you'll kind of use depending on the game state, but it only has like two dependable useful options, which is heal your base and hopefully kill a thing.
00:09:03
Speaker
And you can't, you can't do one of the things on there twice, right?
00:09:09
Speaker
That's what I thought.
00:09:13
Speaker
But yeah, like, I don't know.
00:09:16
Speaker
It might be a thing where like you take out the vigilance and put in the overwhelming firepower.
00:09:21
Speaker
If you're going to overpay for something, pay seven and hopefully nuke a bunch of stuff.
00:09:28
Speaker
Like, I don't know.
00:09:30
Speaker
But it is interesting.
00:09:32
Speaker
I mean, there's going to be control options.
00:09:35
Speaker
I have to assume that involve a lot of events like this once we have everything.
00:09:40
Speaker
And I'm sure we got some good stuff to come still.
00:09:44
Speaker
I feel like it's probably better playing out of aspect in command since you can kind of ramp to it and have it as an option.
00:09:53
Speaker
You mean like play a command base, then like ramp stuff and then play like
00:09:57
Speaker
blue out aspect things right or just like you know just have that just makes you're not doing too blue you're doing blue green so you can ramp with super laser or whatever um or even you know i do have a feeling i'm gonna really like blue green like blue green does seem like it's gonna be something i like like i don't like the theme of like
00:10:20
Speaker
all the bounty hunters so much in yellow and stuff, but I feel like I like some of the yellow cards.
00:10:25
Speaker
I like it, like waylay.
00:10:26
Speaker
Like I know it's kind of an aggro card, but like it can still be very useful for mid range to just get big threats off the board and get stuff through where you need to.
00:10:37
Speaker
Um, yeah, for sure.
00:10:39
Speaker
I, I don't think I'm going to be that big on red because it's probably going to tend to be more aggressive overall.
00:10:50
Speaker
Red's aggressive, but like they keep showing red control-ish things or late mid-range things, which we'll talk about one of the spoilers.
00:11:00
Speaker
Not aggro, but I guess that's a good segue into this.
00:11:05
Speaker
We woke up to, I think it was you, Tack, that put in, like, did Spiel Santa deliver this morning or something?
00:11:12
Speaker
I remember that message.
00:11:13
Speaker
And yeah, he did, because we had a bunch of stuff that came out this morning from Spiel slash IGN, like, posted an article today, which I think is the most mainstream...
Community Engagement and Pre-orders
00:11:29
Speaker
article you've had.
00:11:30
Speaker
Yeah, they run a couple other things, but I feel like IGN is like, oh, the IGN is like mainstream.
00:11:36
Speaker
People go to IGN that aren't just looking at board games and card games.
00:11:41
Speaker
It's the biggest site I've seen that's done something for it so far.
00:11:45
Speaker
Yeah, but yeah, what did we get today?
00:11:48
Speaker
Let's talk about the big things before we get into the cards, and then we can talk about the cards, but we found out a release date.
00:11:54
Speaker
Garrett, do you want to tell us when this game will release?
00:12:01
Speaker
There was one of those articles that did typo of March 8, 2023, by the way, which I thought was hilarious.
00:12:09
Speaker
It already came out six months ago?
00:12:14
Speaker
I'm glad it's beginning of March, too, and not end.
00:12:16
Speaker
We're only five months away.
00:12:18
Speaker
And pre-release should be the week before that, so we get to even play a week before.
00:12:25
Speaker
I was hoping for an earlier release than March.
00:12:29
Speaker
the rate that we've gotten spoilers, like it feels like that's just a long time away.
00:12:34
Speaker
Like what they said, the math was like, we need a spoiler every day basically now to, to, to get us there.
00:12:42
Speaker
So I think we will.
00:12:44
Speaker
I mean, and there are another big con between now and then too.
00:12:48
Speaker
There's, I mean, PAX unplugged is in December.
00:12:51
Speaker
I assume they're going to be there.
00:12:53
Speaker
We'll probably get a bunch of packs.
00:12:55
Speaker
That'd be my guess.
00:12:58
Speaker
Yeah, I would guess.
00:12:59
Speaker
There's like some other little stuff at the beginning of the year, like LVO, which is more minis, but sometimes card games have a presence there.
00:13:06
Speaker
It's where we ran our event.
00:13:08
Speaker
Right, yeah, yeah.
00:13:10
Speaker
But I don't know if that's something that they will hit, but...
00:13:14
Speaker
People are like, yeah, they have to release a card every day, but I'm like, generally games don't spoil everything.
00:13:20
Speaker
Yeah, and I don't expect everything, necessarily.
00:13:25
Speaker
We'll find it up by the date anyways, probably.
00:13:28
Speaker
It's usually about a week or two before maybe you'll get the whole set spoiled, but I don't think they want to hit a point where 80% of the set is spoiled by the first of January, because people will burn themselves out on online play with
00:13:43
Speaker
most of the set and like you're putting a lot of weight into like the last 20% of the set actually mattering at that point.
00:13:51
Speaker
Does that mean that the last 20% is going to be the coolest stuff?
00:13:57
Speaker
I mean, do you think, um, I lost my train of thought.
00:14:01
Speaker
I was going to say something.
00:14:02
Speaker
Do you think like we're going to end up getting a drought of spoilers at some point?
00:14:09
Speaker
A man month or aggression month, then cunning month, presumably.
00:14:13
Speaker
Maybe the holidays is a drought.
00:14:16
Speaker
I mean, they got to take a break.
00:14:21
Speaker
When is Chinese New Year?
00:14:22
Speaker
Because we definitely won't get anything then.
00:14:25
Speaker
That's like all of February.
00:14:28
Speaker
That's a deep destiny cut.
00:14:30
Speaker
Which makes me feel like if this is coming out in March and they're printing in China, Chinese New Year's is then.
00:14:38
Speaker
They're going to have this already in the U S ready to go probably by like January.
00:14:43
Speaker
I'm not just sitting it.
00:14:46
Speaker
I would say we got a raid Rosemont or wherever they hide all the boxes.
00:14:53
Speaker
I wonder if we'll end up like one of the things from the article that some people glossed over today is that they mentioned that it would be available in retail and hobby stores on March 8th.
00:15:04
Speaker
So people are driving the speculation.
00:15:06
Speaker
Like they're pretty much confirming like,
00:15:07
Speaker
It's going to be in Target, going to be in Walmart, it's going to be in some big box store.
00:15:11
Speaker
Which means they've already had deals for that, right?
00:15:15
Speaker
I mean, Target gets legit board games, too.
00:15:18
Speaker
So it would surprise me if I wanted Target.
00:15:23
Speaker
Like, stores like that just sell by the individual booster pack, usually, right?
00:15:27
Speaker
And they won't ever drop below, like, MSRP?
00:15:31
Speaker
Unless they can't.
00:15:33
Speaker
Yeah, one thing that was probably, I don't know, just comparing it to Lorkana because it just happened, like Lorkana sold like booster packs and booster boxes like level in like Targets and Walmarts, which was interesting.
00:15:46
Speaker
Because like oftentimes you'd see just like blister packs and stuff for games at that level, like where they'd have, it's just one booster pack and like an oversized.
00:15:55
Speaker
Oh, that is, yeah, that's, that's how I used to buy magic cards when I was a kid.
00:16:03
Speaker
But yeah, again, referencing Lurkana, one thing that's interesting, like if they do have the game, you know, onshore in the U.S. by like end of January, some of those big box stores broke street dates with Lurkana by like a week or two.
00:16:19
Speaker
Because they don't care.
00:16:20
Speaker
Because like they don't have to ship it to the big stores until closer to March.
00:16:27
Speaker
They also probably don't want to be sitting on the shipment like storage for that can probably be expensive unless Asmodee has big warehouses in the US.
00:16:35
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think it would happen like a lot before, but like it wouldn't surprise me if like two weeks before you started to stories like I walked into Target and two player starters and booster packs were on the shelves kind of thing because.
00:16:48
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, that would be great for the local stores.
00:16:51
Speaker
I mean, they break street dates on video games all the time because they don't care.
00:16:54
Speaker
What are you going to find?
00:16:55
Speaker
You're going to find Target $10,000 to do like that.
00:16:59
Speaker
Some of the local game stores don't do like you don't see a local game store usually break street date, but it seems like anything that goes these big box stores, it slips through the cracks somewhere and someone gets it.
00:17:10
Speaker
They're probably not going to have the same level of product anyway.
00:17:16
Speaker
So like the amounts.
00:17:18
Speaker
Like, I don't think people are buying like whole cases through them, are they?
00:17:21
Speaker
Is that like normal?
00:17:24
Speaker
Like, yeah, usually like there's a separate like package level for retail.
00:17:29
Speaker
That's not like the same as, you know, just sending cases of booster boxes like they do the local game stores.
00:17:34
Speaker
But yeah, hopefully there's no shortages either.
00:17:37
Speaker
Like, that's the other thing.
00:17:38
Speaker
Like, will they learn from Lurkana?
00:17:39
Speaker
And like Lurkana, like...
00:17:42
Speaker
didn't even hit like local game stores and retailers at the same time.
00:17:47
Speaker
They went to local game stores first.
00:17:49
Speaker
Well, they went to Gen Con first, then local game stores, then retail.
00:17:54
Speaker
Is it a negative to simultaneously release in retail and local game stores?
00:18:00
Speaker
Do you think that makes local game stores mad at all?
00:18:04
Speaker
If I was a local game store, I'd be mad about it.
00:18:07
Speaker
But most of your people that are going to be playing the game are going to be getting it from your local game store, probably.
00:18:15
Speaker
Even if they don't get it first there, they will probably end up getting it there if they're playing the game.
00:18:21
Speaker
Because you're not going to go to your game store, play a game, and then go to Target to buy a booster pack.
00:18:29
Speaker
I mean, some people might, but I don't think that's common or the normal thing.
00:18:32
Speaker
But you're not going to have a day of playing and then decide, I'm not going to buy it here.
00:18:40
Speaker
I'm going to drive to Target to buy it.
00:18:41
Speaker
You're just not going to do it.
00:18:44
Speaker
Unless they're out of it.
00:18:45
Speaker
If your store has it, you're going to get it there.
00:18:49
Speaker
Or your local game store is overcharging for packs because there's a shortage.
00:18:54
Speaker
If you're $20 a booster, yeah.
00:18:58
Speaker
Other thing that was kind of buried in the articles today is that we know when stores or local game stores at least are going to be able to preorder the set.
00:19:07
Speaker
Axter, do you want to share when the preorder date is?
00:19:11
Speaker
August or October 16th, which is not that far away.
00:19:16
Speaker
Like a week, a little bit more than a week away.
00:19:20
Speaker
That's exciting because it means that you can go to your store and say, hey, I want this.
00:19:25
Speaker
And then they can be like, cool, then we will order that.
00:19:28
Speaker
And I think the pre-orders is going to be a great way to make sure that your store is actually interested in it, because if they know that enough people want it, then they will keep it in stock.
00:19:38
Speaker
And hopefully that's the best thing.
00:19:40
Speaker
So, I mean, it does make me want to make sure.
00:19:45
Speaker
I don't know if I should be like pre-ordering at multiple different stores for like a box each or like, I don't, I don't know the right way to do that there.
00:19:51
Speaker
When you have multiple stores, we do have a lot of game stores in Madison.
00:19:54
Speaker
I just don't, not all of them will, will end up being like a weekly play for this.
00:20:00
Speaker
And I don't think we'll have a huge group overall, but.
00:20:03
Speaker
There are two by me and they are about three blocks apart.
00:20:10
Speaker
I don't know if the other one, they're both awesome, but their other one mostly does magic because that's how you make money.
00:20:20
Speaker
So I don't know if they're going to do this, but I hope they will.
00:20:23
Speaker
Cause I would love to do both.
00:20:26
Speaker
Four stores within 15 minute drive.
00:20:33
Speaker
So, I mean, that's quite a bit.
00:20:35
Speaker
One of them's like all card games.
00:20:36
Speaker
One of them's big online board games and stuff.
00:20:41
Speaker
One's family board games.
00:20:42
Speaker
Another one's family board games.
00:20:46
Speaker
Yeah, I've got a lot of game stores here.
00:20:48
Speaker
I think, I don't know, Sean had a future idea for an episode of maybe like talking about like what to do at your local game store level to like help.
00:20:56
Speaker
organize events or run games, but I will say like, yeah, as soon as I got that information today, I sent a message to the game store that I frequent and like, let them know, Hey, I'm going to pre-order a case.
00:21:07
Speaker
And what night can we run organized play?
00:21:10
Speaker
Like started that kind of talk, like it's October 16th is going to be the date.
00:21:14
Speaker
I made a Facebook group for Southwest Idaho where I'm at and sent that over and said, Hey, if you can share this on your store, Facebook page or other social media,
00:21:24
Speaker
this will help us gauge interest in the local area because we'll actually be able to see like how many people might be interested in it.
00:21:31
Speaker
And we still have a destiny one from ours that might still be alive or I don't know if I have not been on Facebook at all for like any of the stuff, but that was a big thing was the Facebook destiny is kind of where my local community started with its,
00:21:47
Speaker
I haven't had a face.
00:21:48
Speaker
I don't really like Facebook or groups, but I mean, it is what it is.
00:21:52
Speaker
You know, it's, it's still the easiest way for gaming groups to find each other because like discord search is garbage.
00:22:00
Speaker
No, for finding some server, you're not in, I mean, unless, unless you're like, everyone knows to go to the community server first and then.
00:22:09
Speaker
But even finding the community server, like we have a community server with like 1.
00:22:13
Speaker
It's 1,300 people roughly now I think it's up to.
00:22:17
Speaker
If you go to Discord search and be like, put in Star Wars Unlimited, you won't even see our Star Wars Unlimited Discord group in the first page of results.
00:22:25
Speaker
I don't know how Discord does their search, but it's awful.
00:22:30
Speaker
Most of the people in our Discord probably got there from the Facebook or they were in one of the other Star Wars-related Discords that knew a Destiny person or someone...
00:22:42
Speaker
like link them in there.
00:22:44
Speaker
Like it's my biggest critique of discord is that they just make it too hard for groups to find each other.
00:22:49
Speaker
I can tell you I've never once done a search for a discord server.
00:22:53
Speaker
It's always been stuff that people have given me or I found the same.
00:22:57
Speaker
Somewhere either like a link.
00:23:00
Speaker
But yeah, anyway, that's that.
Latest Card Spoilers and Strategies
00:23:03
Speaker
So exciting stuff that we actually have like a target, a goal.
00:23:08
Speaker
There's there's an end line at some point in the future.
00:23:12
Speaker
But we also got four spoilers from the IGN article today.
00:23:18
Speaker
And we also had one spoiler from Monday for the last of the command spoilers.
00:23:26
Speaker
So I have some stuff to go through.
00:23:27
Speaker
Let's talk about the first of the command spoilers first.
00:23:31
Speaker
We're going to talk about the last command spoiler first.
00:23:35
Speaker
I'm confusing myself.
00:23:36
Speaker
Which was Tactical and Advantage, this event that they showed on Monday.
00:23:40
Speaker
It's a one cost event.
00:23:42
Speaker
Single green aspects.
00:23:44
Speaker
Give a unit plus two plus two for this phase.
00:23:47
Speaker
Docs Garrett, what do you think of this amazing car?
00:23:51
Speaker
Amazing's the word.
00:23:54
Speaker
I think it's fine.
00:23:56
Speaker
I think in draft it's going to be fine.
00:23:59
Speaker
And I think it's something you're
00:24:02
Speaker
probably not going to put in a constructed deck maybe i mean maybe in in set one depending on the other options but like after that there's going to be other options that are better at that um but if you're running it then it's something you do after your opponent has taken initiative probably you know unless you're running it for sentinel defense um otherwise you're just using it after they take it spending your one to do an extra two damage
00:24:31
Speaker
I mean, I don't see a ton of use for this, but I don't think it's completely useless.
00:24:38
Speaker
Yeah, I'd be surprised if it's in constructed at all.
00:24:41
Speaker
But I mean, maybe somebody wants something with a bunch of cheapos and something to punch harder.
00:24:48
Speaker
I mean, what resource to get two damage to base isn't bad for an aggro deck?
00:24:54
Speaker
No, I think that's pretty like if you're paying two for three damage with surprise strike one for two,
00:25:01
Speaker
is more is that that's more efficient it is more damage so yeah i was like math late at night too hard uh so yeah that way it's it's more efficient at least from resources spent but like then you have the hard part of like card value like one card that gives you three is more valuable than one card that gives you only two but i don't know that that's getting away in the weeds i do think like if this i agree with you guys it probably doesn't get played in constructed but if it does
00:25:28
Speaker
I think the fact that it lasts for the phase is the important tidbit there.
00:25:33
Speaker
So like, I was like, if they make cards that let you ready units, like, or, well, we we've seen one kind of in green inquisitor.
00:25:42
Speaker
Um, if you can attack with the unit two or more times, these kinds of effects, you know, all of a sudden have value, you know, increased value over something like surprise strike.
00:25:52
Speaker
So like, yeah, if, if there is a, a one turn kill,
00:25:56
Speaker
grand inquisitor deck that's like maybe there's more than one card like this like oh i got this weenie that well it doesn't work with him though because he has a cap on power that's the problem you just kill moddy to ready anything there yeah you kill moddy to ready it but like yeah like something something like that where i can attack with it multiple times uh is the only thing i could see like i think there is a use for it i just don't really know what it is yet you just don't know what it is uh moving on
00:26:23
Speaker
This was from the IGN article.
00:26:25
Speaker
I don't know if they were supposed to spoil this because they took it off the article.
00:26:30
Speaker
An hour after they put it, which was kind of a funny thing.
00:26:33
Speaker
We don't know why.
00:26:34
Speaker
I know it's already out there.
00:26:35
Speaker
So was this not on like the main article, but just on the extra images?
00:26:39
Speaker
Is that how this one showed up?
00:26:41
Speaker
It wasn't mentioned in the text, but like when you scroll through like the image gallery, both Han Solo and IG88 leaders were there.
00:26:48
Speaker
And then like an hour after they posted the article, they were gone.
00:26:51
Speaker
I wonder if they were given like the three spoilers and they were told just releases or like maybe their plan was releasing with three different articles and they just kind of bone themselves.
00:27:02
Speaker
They had a bunch of different cards from the set in there.
00:27:04
Speaker
So I don't know if like FFG was like, Oh, just give them all these cards.
00:27:08
Speaker
They'll be spoiled by then.
00:27:09
Speaker
And then like some other CC is like, I got these to spoil an IGN totally to snipe my spoiler card.
00:27:16
Speaker
I don't feel bad, which would be like worst case scenario.
00:27:19
Speaker
I've heard about that already, but maybe not.
00:27:23
Speaker
But speaking of IG-88, he is our villain aggression leader.
00:27:31
Speaker
One of them, have we seen the other?
00:27:33
Speaker
The other one was Grand Inquisitor and then Vader's from the start.
00:27:36
Speaker
Yeah, we've seen all of the red slash aggression.
00:27:43
Speaker
So he is an underworld droid bounty hunter that on his leader side, he has the action to tap him, sorry, exhaust him to attack with the unit.
00:27:53
Speaker
If you control more units than the defending player, the attacker gets plus one plus zero for this attack.
00:27:58
Speaker
So he's like paying off swarming, like you need more units than the defender.
00:28:03
Speaker
And then he has a five resource epic action for the threshold.
00:28:08
Speaker
And then on the backside,
00:28:11
Speaker
Uh, he's a pretty solid ish five, four.
00:28:14
Speaker
I don't think that's super impressive, but he does give each other friendly unit raid one.
00:28:19
Speaker
So again, just playing into that, like a swarm strategy, uh, tack.
00:28:24
Speaker
What are your thoughts on IG 88?
00:28:26
Speaker
I mean, his base ability feels pretty darn weak.
00:28:31
Speaker
Like it just really does.
00:28:33
Speaker
I mean, just one, uh,
00:28:35
Speaker
only conditionally for one single attack doesn't feel like a lot i mean early game if you're ahead it could probably keep you ahead like one extra damage can be what you need to trade into something and then stay ahead on units um so like it's not that it can't work but it's pretty underwhelming i i do like that his deployed version affects everybody else so like
00:28:59
Speaker
Yeah, you're trying to build wide so that his regular ability is relevant, but the payoff is if you keep him alive and everybody else is just going to hit a little bit harder.
00:29:11
Speaker
I mean, even if it's one, if you've got five dudes on board, that's five extra damage.
00:29:16
Speaker
I mean, that's not bad.
00:29:19
Speaker
But I don't know how actually good he's going to be.
00:29:23
Speaker
He seems completely fine.
00:29:29
Speaker
So any of the keywords that have like, you know, a number like RAID X or what are the other ones?
00:29:38
Speaker
I don't remember off the top of my head.
00:29:40
Speaker
Isn't RAID the only one?
00:29:41
Speaker
Oh, restore, yeah.
00:29:43
Speaker
Yeah, restore the other one.
00:29:44
Speaker
And I was like, I knew it was the other R1.
00:29:45
Speaker
Yeah, if you have two instances of it, it does stack.
00:29:50
Speaker
So your raid units can get really big.
00:29:52
Speaker
I mean, if we get other IG units that do also give things raid, that's... I mean, what also we haven't seen, and maybe we'll see it too, is there could be aggression buffs that are like, all your units get plus one raid.
00:30:06
Speaker
I can see the arena event that's just for this phase.
00:30:09
Speaker
Units get raid, units get plus one, plus one, or something like that.
00:30:11
Speaker
Just stuff that tries to play into red villain swarm to just try to boost a lot of things.
00:30:20
Speaker
I could see it, but I mean, obviously we haven't seen a ton of cards that really play into that yet.
00:30:24
Speaker
Yeah, he's kind of the villain mirror of maybe like Leia, where she wants to swarm like rebel units.
00:30:31
Speaker
He's like, he wants to swarm on the villain side.
00:30:34
Speaker
I don't think he's as good as Leia, but... Yeah, like we have a lot of rebels, so that seems easier to do.
00:30:42
Speaker
The whole needing to have more units than your opponent...
00:30:47
Speaker
I feel is where it gets a little unreliable.
00:30:51
Speaker
Stormtroopers are cheap.
00:30:54
Speaker
We need more than just, like, one that will cost one.
00:30:59
Speaker
We also have, like, no synergy with those tribes, right?
00:31:03
Speaker
Like, what were they?
00:31:06
Speaker
Underworld, Bounty Hunter.
00:31:13
Speaker
Maybe the baby there's more more tribal synergy for other stuff other than rebel and Imperial in the first set, but we haven't seen any of it.
00:31:25
Speaker
And we know the second set is probably going to be underworld related from the shadows of the galaxy.
00:31:29
Speaker
Shades of shadows of the galaxy.
00:31:31
Speaker
So maybe he has future payoff,
Card Analysis: Fallen Lightsaber and Mace Windu
00:31:34
Speaker
And I feel like that's fine if these are leaders that... It's fine if a leader's not perfect in the first set, but then can be okay for a constructed.
00:31:43
Speaker
Yeah, I like when they add more support for it later.
00:31:45
Speaker
He is a common leader, so he's also going to be the draft limited.
00:31:52
Speaker
Where Grand Inquisitor is going to be the rare option that you're probably not going to see very often.
00:31:56
Speaker
So I think in limited, it's probably... Actually, I would say in limited, it's
00:32:02
Speaker
maybe harder to pull off the more units, but like you, if you know you're going to play them, you can try to draft a lower curve and then maybe it'll pay off.
00:32:11
Speaker
I mean, tie fighters only costs one.
00:32:13
Speaker
Like there's a lot of, there's options.
00:32:17
Speaker
There's a, I mean, there's a whole 150 cards to go to.
00:32:20
Speaker
So like tactlessly.
00:32:22
Speaker
And like, if they get your only card, is it?
00:32:26
Speaker
Is tie fighter a starter only card?
00:32:28
Speaker
No, it's a common.
00:32:32
Speaker
like snow troopers snow troopers are only two each like this as options moving on to the rare leader that we saw today the big bad man han solo um we've seen the han solo unit a while ago who is a rare that's in the luke starter which is it's kind of interesting uh this is the han solo leader version he's rare he's yellow cunning he's heroism
00:32:59
Speaker
He is notably underworld and not rebels, which feels kind of important in this set.
00:33:04
Speaker
And then his action on his leader side is you can put a card from your hand into play as a resource and ready it.
00:33:11
Speaker
And then at the start of the next action phase, defeat a resource you control.
00:33:17
Speaker
which seems very difficult, but it's ramp.
00:33:19
Speaker
And then, yeah, on his flip side, sorry, he needs six resources to flip.
00:33:23
Speaker
Then on his leader side, he's a four, six.
00:33:26
Speaker
On attack, you get to put the top card of your deck into play as a resources radius.
00:33:31
Speaker
So it's kind of the same effect, just not from your hand.
00:33:34
Speaker
And then at the start of the next action phase, defeat the resource you control.
00:33:38
Speaker
Garrett, thoughts on Han Solo?
00:33:41
Speaker
When I first saw Han, I was like, well, that's kind of fun.
00:33:44
Speaker
And then the more I thought about it, I'm like,
00:33:46
Speaker
He's probably really good.
00:33:48
Speaker
Maybe not right now, depending on what options we have, but he will be because there will be stuff that you can do out of discard.
00:33:59
Speaker
He will be really good.
00:34:02
Speaker
And on turn five, when you can put him out, you can have eight resources and drop something big because you could do his action to get to seven, put him out, attack, get to eight,
00:34:15
Speaker
and then have something else home ones eight i think right like you can drop something big on turn on turn five yeah yeah you could technically flip him on turn or on round four that's true because yeah of his own yeah if you're at five resources you do his front to go to six then you can flip him and attack go to seven so you could play a seven drop on round four which the best seven drop we have right now han solo
00:34:43
Speaker
Or Mace, the card we'll talk about, I assume, next.
00:34:50
Speaker
Just run yellow-red and try to drop Mace or Han.
00:34:55
Speaker
I don't know what the draw odds are of you to hit that combo.
00:35:03
Speaker
I need a Han Solo or a Mace in my hand by round four.
00:35:11
Speaker
With the mulligan?
00:35:15
Speaker
Your opponent could still technically stop you, I think, if they had something to prevent Han from attacking, an exhaust effect.
00:35:20
Speaker
Yeah, like a strike sanctuary would be... Or a Leia would be huge.
00:35:26
Speaker
The tourney comes out.
00:35:28
Speaker
I think he's cool.
00:35:30
Speaker
I mean, his ability is...
00:35:33
Speaker
It's weird because it's basically like this is something that you're going to use two to three times a game, and it's probably going to feel game breaking every turn that you do.
00:35:42
Speaker
And you're doing it.
00:35:43
Speaker
I mean, if you're doing it early, it comes at the cost of card advantage.
00:35:48
Speaker
If you're doing it after he's out, it's just free.
00:35:51
Speaker
And that double turn, that double turn, if you get that, the round that he comes out, it just seems like there is a lot of opportunity for some big plays that can swing the game significantly.
00:36:02
Speaker
And that kind of reminds me of how Bilba feels nuts when you get him on the field and the next turn you slam down the fire spray and it's ready and you've just got rats on both sides of the arena and you're like, I'm already behind and I'm playing Vader and I don't even have Vader out yet kind of thing.
00:36:24
Speaker
just one of those things like you can just get so far ahead and unless they have specific answers to you it's going to be hard to deal with so it's cool that it that he doesn't have to have an ability that's always available always like using every round like some of your other characters are but those two three times these in the game can sure be very impactful i think that's one of the things like a lot of people have commented they're like how could you ever keep up the cards to like do this every turn you need a lot of card draw i'm like
00:36:54
Speaker
I don't think you have to do it every round.
00:36:55
Speaker
I don't think that's a point.
00:36:56
Speaker
I think you pick your spots that it'll be super impactful.
00:37:01
Speaker
Like play, play that four cost on round two, you know, play that five cost on round three.
00:37:06
Speaker
That's like really good or get into the double combo and then get them to his backside, you know, where you're not having to actually spend the cards out of your hand for it.
00:37:14
Speaker
Like, I think it's going to be far more strategic, which is probably why he's a rare leader, not a common because, you know,
00:37:22
Speaker
He won't be easy to play.
00:37:24
Speaker
I think Han is a very good example of having to learn when your leader needs to come out and why it's not necessarily beneficial to you just to slam it down as fast as you can.
00:37:38
Speaker
Because, you know, and I think that's probably with most leaders, but especially with someone like Han where you, when he's coming out, you have to do his ability when he comes out because there needs to be a reason to do it.
00:37:53
Speaker
Yeah, and if you do it, you have to be able to spend all the resources.
00:37:57
Speaker
Because I think if you flip him and you can't, like, you're screwing up.
00:38:01
Speaker
Like, yeah, it's like the same with Boba Fett is the same thing.
00:38:05
Speaker
Like, if you're playing Boba Fett, you got to, like, skew your resource costs down so that you can actually spend the extra resources that he gives you.
00:38:13
Speaker
Because if you're getting them and not spending them, there's no point.
00:38:16
Speaker
Han's kind of the flip side of that, except instead of just, like, getting a few small things, like,
00:38:21
Speaker
combo into a big thing, but you got to be able to spend it.
00:38:30
Speaker
So that was the two leaders.
00:38:31
Speaker
And then... Oh, no.
00:38:33
Speaker
I'm saving the best for lightsaber.
00:38:34
Speaker
Fallen lightsaber first.
00:38:38
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think this one was actually in the article, but there was a trailer that they released.
00:38:45
Speaker
Star Wars Unlimited released on their social media channels for the game.
00:38:49
Speaker
Because card games need trailers, obviously.
00:38:53
Speaker
And this was like just in like a card pan that came by.
00:38:56
Speaker
We kind of saw this, I think in a game Genic.
00:39:00
Speaker
It was really, it was really blurry, but now we actually know what it does.
00:39:03
Speaker
So it's a three cost aggression villain upgrade, the fallen lightsaber.
00:39:08
Speaker
You attach it to a non-vehicle unit like all the other lightsabers we've seen.
00:39:13
Speaker
And then if attached unit is a force trait unit, that's looking at the trait, it gains on attack deal one damage to each ground unit the defending player controls.
00:39:23
Speaker
uh and then it gives a plus three power plus three hp and has all the lightsaber things tack you want to talk about fallen lightsaber what do you think yeah i want to put three of these on vader and win the game how do you how does that work yeah how does he use three double-bladed lightsabers um have you seen one piece i was about to say that yes one in the mouth
00:39:48
Speaker
I mean, destiny does Vader fit in his mouth.
00:39:52
Speaker
Like he's got a mouthpiece.
00:39:53
Speaker
Like, I don't know.
00:39:55
Speaker
Vader Vader would have a tough time.
00:39:57
Speaker
Maybe between the legs.
00:39:59
Speaker
He has some sort of metallic extension somewhere.
00:40:02
Speaker
He could just, he could just levitate it.
00:40:07
Speaker
I feel like one of the guys in one of the Jedi games used the force to do a lot of stuff with lightsabers.
00:40:12
Speaker
I don't remember who.
00:40:16
Speaker
Oh, that was one of the guys in the second Jedi Survivor.
00:40:21
Speaker
There was one of the guys would attack you with the force of this lightsaber.
00:40:25
Speaker
But yeah, no, I really like this card.
00:40:29
Speaker
I almost feel like this is better than the Luke and Vader sabers.
00:40:34
Speaker
Which, I mean, those are super cards.
00:40:35
Speaker
I mean, it costs one more, but it gives you that two extra health.
00:40:38
Speaker
And that effect is ongoing versus that one-time thing, and it only works with those characters.
00:40:43
Speaker
I mean, it really depends how many more dark side...
00:40:46
Speaker
force users we get in the set as well yeah i don't think i don't think you have to put this on a force unit like that it's true if you do like i am fine putting this on ig88 after i flip them and making them an eight seven yeah i mean it's entrenched plus one to get the full effect of
00:41:06
Speaker
And to not have the downside of entrenched.
00:41:09
Speaker
I would play this out of aspect too, honestly.
00:41:12
Speaker
Like it's, I think it's in hero or just like a non-aggression deck.
00:41:16
Speaker
Like I are, you know, non-aggression villain.
00:41:19
Speaker
I'm not paying seven for that, but like I would pay five for that.
00:41:24
Speaker
And I think you're probably wanting to put it on a leader.
00:41:27
Speaker
Most of the time, like leaders have like, that's kind of the thing with upgrades and this is how it is with like any game that has attached things.
00:41:35
Speaker
well, you Voltron your character and then they get way later vanquished and you lose like all the cards feels real bad.
00:41:41
Speaker
But like in this game, your leader is kind of protected.
00:41:45
Speaker
So like putting upgrades on your leader seems like the best thing to do all the time.
00:41:51
Speaker
I've had a lot of fun with the starter decks.
00:41:52
Speaker
Like if I play wing leader, like in one of them, I want to give those two experience to my leader.
00:41:57
Speaker
Like obviously I'm giving Luke your Vader's lightsabers go into my leader.
00:42:01
Speaker
Or R2 on round two, obviously.
00:42:06
Speaker
Yeah, that's also a good play.
00:42:08
Speaker
But it feels like it always pays dividends or you're protecting your stuff more to put it on a leader.
00:42:12
Speaker
So any villain deck, if you're going... I don't care if you're playing Boba Fett in red, yellow, you're putting three of these in there and you're flipping Boba Fett and smacking this on him and being like, he's just a monster for you to get rid of now.
00:42:27
Speaker
I mean, ideally I want the effect, but if I don't have it, a plus three plus three for three is still really good.
00:42:35
Speaker
Makes your leaders hard to remove.
00:42:38
Speaker
Cause yeah, like vanquish can't hit them.
00:42:40
Speaker
Waylay can't hit them.
00:42:41
Speaker
Takedown can hit them, but it's anti takedown to put fallen lightsaber on your leader.
00:42:47
Speaker
It's the best payoff.
00:42:50
Speaker
Last... I know one more comment about that is when I was playing late night people on Saturday, I was asking, like, do we expect to see some upgrade hate?
00:43:01
Speaker
And what do people think about it?
00:43:03
Speaker
And people were like, I don't... I think the general response of, like, it'll probably be there, but, like, I don't want to pay, like, much of anything for it.
00:43:12
Speaker
We start seeing stuff like that card, and...
00:43:15
Speaker
The lightsaber, you know, like stuff like that.
00:43:17
Speaker
We get any more upgrades like that just look super powerful and are things you're going to want to put on stuff.
00:43:22
Speaker
I feel like people people will play upgrade hate if if there's a chance that you start stacking on it.
00:43:28
Speaker
I just we haven't seen any cards that do that yet.
00:43:31
Speaker
I have to imagine they will exist.
00:43:33
Speaker
I think we for sure will have it.
00:43:35
Speaker
I think we will, but upgrade hate is probably less useful when damage sticks around, too.
00:43:42
Speaker
It's not like magic, where health resets every turn.
00:43:46
Speaker
Damage sticks around, so you have that upgrade, but I'm going to hit you.
00:43:49
Speaker
Well, upgrade hate can kill something outright.
00:43:52
Speaker
But the pace at which units die, I think...
00:43:56
Speaker
makes it less effective if that makes sense like because you're just all right but you're saying because like things die faster than the magic where you can sit like unless you're casting something to deal direct damage right like imagine you can sit on something and never block with it and it's just i've got a 20 hp thing that re you know and you get all your health back at the end every turn what are you going to do if you can't just directly kill it right makes sense
00:44:23
Speaker
Last, but certainly not least the party crasher himself, Mace Windu.
00:44:28
Speaker
Um, he is a ground unit.
00:44:31
Speaker
That's aggression, heroism, seven cost.
00:44:34
Speaker
He's a five, seven forced Jedi Republic.
00:44:37
Speaker
He has ambush, which is great.
00:44:39
Speaker
And when this unit attacks and defeats a unit ready him.
00:44:43
Speaker
So he can just kill every damn thing on your opponent's side.
00:44:48
Speaker
Notably, he is not from the era that the set theme is, which a lot of people have pointed out, which is pretty cool.
00:44:55
Speaker
Like I was hoping they wouldn't just stick to OT stuff.
00:44:57
Speaker
And you got to give some like breadcrumbs, like some trails to like future sets.
00:45:03
Speaker
You know, Republic probably won't matter now.
00:45:05
Speaker
It'll probably matter in Clone Wars set, you know, a couple of sets down the line.
00:45:10
Speaker
Um, but even without that, he is a bad-ass.
00:45:14
Speaker
Uh, he's a party crasher.
00:45:16
Speaker
He's a party crasher.
00:45:17
Speaker
Uh, Garrett, what, what's your analysis on the mace when do you,
00:45:23
Speaker
Like that one A plus for the, for the subtitle of Party Crasher first and foremost.
00:45:30
Speaker
But like, just going back to what I was saying before about playing fallen lightsaber out of aspect, this is why I would play force, uh, fallen lightsaber out of aspect.
00:45:42
Speaker
Like you put, you make Mason eight, 10, who gets to attack like three times, you're going to wipe their board.
00:45:48
Speaker
Like, what are they going to do about it?
00:45:50
Speaker
Yeah, he has a force unit, so you get the damage.
00:45:53
Speaker
You play that and you're like, party's over.
00:46:00
Speaker
So if you did have a fallen lightsaber on him, say, out of aspect, and you attack base and the fallen lightsaber kills something, does that count to ready him?
00:46:10
Speaker
Or does that specifically mean that he'd have to attack it?
00:46:14
Speaker
That is a very good question.
00:46:16
Speaker
We'll figure it out.
00:46:17
Speaker
The way I read it is that he would have to attack it because it's the light.
00:46:20
Speaker
That's kind of what I would think.
00:46:22
Speaker
I didn't know like.
00:46:26
Speaker
When it says when this unit attacks and defeats a unit, I think it's implying that he has to attack a unit and defeat said unit.
00:46:36
Speaker
That's a good question.
00:46:37
Speaker
I didn't think about that until just now.
00:46:39
Speaker
The wording is like, I might try to go find confirmation of it because the wording is just vague enough to, I can see the interpretation the other way.
00:46:49
Speaker
Cause like he attacks and because of said attack, he defeated a unit with the fallen lightsaber trigger.
00:46:56
Speaker
Do I get to ready?
00:46:58
Speaker
I feel like kill one unit with one health up ready attack base again, kill another unit with one health.
00:47:06
Speaker
I mean, they would all die.
00:47:07
Speaker
I guess you'd have to have a unit with one health and one with two health.
00:47:09
Speaker
At that point, you're sacrificing your dudes into him so he doesn't reset anymore.
00:47:13
Speaker
And then the party's over.
00:47:15
Speaker
And then the party's over.
00:47:16
Speaker
And then the party's definitely
Episode Wrap-up and Future Plans
00:47:18
Speaker
I think Maze is cool.
00:47:22
Speaker
I don't know if he's better than Han at the same cost.
00:47:27
Speaker
Han has one more attack and the first strike is kind of huge.
00:47:32
Speaker
And they both have ambush.
00:47:34
Speaker
Mace is more aggressive and then he can hit base the same turn that he comes out in most instances, I imagine.
00:47:42
Speaker
But I don't know if you care if you're playing a 7-drop in your deck.
00:47:48
Speaker
If a 7-drop Scream's not really something Agra wants, he's not bad.
00:47:53
Speaker
Again, if you put him in a red Han Leader Han deck,
00:47:59
Speaker
And you're either getting either or at this point, those are your big threats and you're fine with either of them.
00:48:05
Speaker
I think that's cool.
00:48:06
Speaker
I think that's fine.
00:48:07
Speaker
But I do not know if he's actually better than Han in a lot of instances.
00:48:13
Speaker
Yeah, that's a good question.
00:48:15
Speaker
He's more anti-swarm than Han.
00:48:20
Speaker
I have a hard time imagining the situation where you're around six and
00:48:25
Speaker
And your opponent has a lot of things for you to ready and attack with Mace, but you haven't just lost to their swarm on the board.
00:48:33
Speaker
I don't know what that board's data actually looks like.
00:48:36
Speaker
Where you're like, this feels great.
00:48:39
Speaker
I think he'll also matter by being force and Jedi since, I mean, obviously with the fallen lightsaber, the force bump there, I think we're going to have more stuff.
00:48:50
Speaker
Maybe even Mace's lightsaber.
00:48:51
Speaker
Who knows when that's coming?
00:48:54
Speaker
It binds all things card is like, if you have a force unit is like the one force unit thing we've seen.
00:49:03
Speaker
He can go right in the Luke deck.
00:49:04
Speaker
I just don't think there's been much reason to run Luke with red right now based on the card pool.
00:49:11
Speaker
Yeah, he is more interesting with shields.
00:49:13
Speaker
He's running rough shots.
00:49:17
Speaker
Run him in, hit something, attack with Luke.
00:49:20
Speaker
Assuming you survive the previous turn, shield mace up so that there's options there.
00:49:24
Speaker
Yeah, though I think the one thing with Han that I think gives him the edge over Han is I think
00:49:32
Speaker
you're just fine ambushing a single unit, readying him, and then going to their base all in the same turn.
00:49:38
Speaker
Like that's probably fine, really.
00:49:43
Speaker
It's the energy conversion lab plus fire spray thing that people have talked about.
00:49:47
Speaker
Oh, I get ambushed, end up ready, and then I can go into their base.
00:49:51
Speaker
Mace does it just all on his own, assuming he can defeat a unit when you play him.
00:49:57
Speaker
And then maybe you can flip the board.
00:50:00
Speaker
Going back to what we mentioned earlier, we talked about Vader, and now we got Mace, and it's like, these are cards in aggression that aren't aggro cards.
00:50:07
Speaker
You don't play Vader or Mace in an aggro deck, but he's a decent mid-range card that could start to flip the board position by just killing something on your opponent's side and then putting damage into their base.
00:50:23
Speaker
Or killing two things and putting damage in the base.
00:50:25
Speaker
I mean, big bombs like that would also be... I imagine he'll be pretty great in draft.
00:50:29
Speaker
Obviously, he's a legendary, so you're not going to see him ever, but that's the kind of bomb that I feel like you'd want.
00:50:36
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like you would take that in a draft.
00:50:40
Speaker
You'd take Han, too, I think, for that matter.
00:50:41
Speaker
Han's not legendary, though, right?
00:50:43
Speaker
No, he's only a rare.
00:50:47
Speaker
But like if you put Mace down and you're seeing your cross from R2 and 3PO, like you just take it both of them out and then hit Mace.
00:50:55
Speaker
It's just kill all the droids.
00:50:59
Speaker
I mean, Mace hates droids.
00:51:01
Speaker
You've got the point there.
00:51:02
Speaker
Like the card art.
00:51:03
Speaker
He's just killing the shit out of droids.
00:51:05
Speaker
Oh, one more thing that I forgot to mention that we talked about on the discord.
00:51:11
Speaker
Mace's lightsaber, it's upside down in the art, and the blade is coming out the wrong end.
00:51:19
Speaker
Which people have pointed out already.
00:51:21
Speaker
They're like, go look at Mace in any of the movie stills.
00:51:25
Speaker
The black part down here, this is the bottom.
00:51:29
Speaker
And then, yeah, the rounded part, that's where the blade comes out.
00:51:35
Speaker
Oh, that's pretty great.
00:51:39
Speaker
I wouldn't have even noticed that if you didn't just tell me.
00:51:42
Speaker
Honestly, I didn't notice myself, but there's always some nerd out there, and it was on the comment of the IGN article itself.
00:51:49
Speaker
Someone put as the first thing, Mesa's lightsaber's upside down.
00:51:52
Speaker
It's like nothing will escape the internet.
00:51:56
Speaker
There's some nerd that knows right off the top of his head.
00:52:00
Speaker
Which way the lightsaber is supposed to be?
00:52:02
Speaker
Clone Wars animated show in episode 7B.
00:52:05
Speaker
Maybe it's a early double-bladed saber, and this is the first time we're seeing him light the other side.
00:52:16
Speaker
We never knew it's canon.
00:52:17
Speaker
It's like weird stuff.
00:52:18
Speaker
People point out, like, if you watch...
00:52:21
Speaker
Return of the Sith or Revenge of the Sith, sorry.
00:52:23
Speaker
And you look at like the fight with like Palpatine at the end, like part of it, Palpatine has Anakin's lightsaber in his hand and it's just red bladed.
00:52:32
Speaker
Like if you look real close, it's not pal.
00:52:37
Speaker
Just weird editing here.
00:52:39
Speaker
That's just what happens.
00:52:40
Speaker
Weird editing here.
00:52:42
Speaker
You put the blade on the wrong side.
00:52:45
Speaker
Anywho, that's all that we really had to talk about today, which was honestly a lot, a lot more than we thought.
00:52:52
Speaker
We've done it yesterday before there were so many spoilers and release date.
00:53:00
Speaker
Your sickness just worked in our favor for us to postpone it today.
00:53:05
Speaker
My voice is significantly better today, and it still sounds terrible.
00:53:09
Speaker
We'll fix it in post.
00:53:13
Speaker
Just give me robot voice.
00:53:14
Speaker
Give me battle droid voice.
00:53:17
Speaker
Yeah, that'd be annoying.
00:53:20
Speaker
So yeah, anybody have anything coming up this week?
00:53:23
Speaker
Like, I wish we could have plugged that you were going on late night last week.
00:53:26
Speaker
I don't think we did.
00:53:28
Speaker
I hope to like stream some TTS games or something to like our YouTube channel.
00:53:33
Speaker
I'm all set up to do it.
00:53:34
Speaker
I just got to find time and find someone to play games with.
00:53:38
Speaker
I'll play with you.
00:53:41
Speaker
So maybe this weekend that'll be a thing.
00:53:42
Speaker
We know Sean and Wyatt won't.
00:53:44
Speaker
Yeah, no, they're still hating on the game so much they're not even here for the second episode.
00:53:50
Speaker
They're playing their role well.
00:53:52
Speaker
We have to figure out a way to win them back to the podcast already.
00:53:56
Speaker
All right, well, that's all I got.
00:53:58
Speaker
So thanks, everybody, for tuning in this week, and we'll see you next time.
