Introduction and Episode Overview

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Chick-fil-A Show.
00:00:23
Speaker
What is up Foley fan? We are back with another episode of the Chick Foley show. We got Sheena here. We got Jordan here. We're going to be just doing a little round the wrestling world with some quick hitters, got some figure reviews, and we're going to bring it all to you over the next hour. But first, let's start by introducing the star of the show.

Halloween Decorations and Plans

00:00:40
Speaker
Sheena, how you doing? I love that I'm the star of the show. I'm good. It is officially who officially kicked off spooky season, so all is well over here in my world.
00:00:48
Speaker
Jordan, what's happening out in Omaha? Yeah, man, same here. We got a garage full of Halloween decorations waiting to be put out in the yard. Getting ready to leave for Minneapolis tomorrow morning, going to the Falcons-Vikings game this weekend. So, yeah, man, everything is good over here.
00:01:03
Speaker
Y'all getting after the decorations once you get back from this this Minnesota trip or when ah when you guys when you guys officially get in the house all decked out? I know y'all always go all out. It'll probably start next week because we got quite a bit of shit to put out, but and usually we wrap it up by the end of the September so.
00:01:19
Speaker
Any big new additions this year to the decor? um oh Yeah, we got a hearse. not Not a real hearse. Like a horse-drawn hearse. um And then we got a ah snake that I hand-painted. So it should be pretty cool, man.
00:01:35
Speaker
what What kind of scale are we talking on this horse-drawn hearse, dude? It's like five feet tall and five feet in length. I got to ask, dude, not not to be tacky, dude. what What does that kind of thing run you nowadays, Dave? It's like $400. Okay, nice. From Spear and Home Depot? where we we Where did you procure this thing? Sounds pretty badass. Yeah, we get almost all of our decorations from Home Depot. all ah I'll shoot you guys a text of it right now while we're recording. That way you guys can see it.
00:02:03
Speaker
Yeah, saw I saw your hand-painted snake. though It's going look sick, dude. He hand-painted his own snake? He did. Yeah, he did. It's a big one. Did he use Ari's nail polish?
00:02:16
Speaker
All right. Yeah, that would take the cost up exponentially. Shane, we haven't really talked yet, man. What's the game plan for the Halloween decor on here? I know last year kind of got away from you with football season. We're even busier now. No, I did better last year. It was the year before that was โ€“ Yeah. Last year I was on it. Like the year before it was like middle of October and I was like, crap, dude, I've dropped the ball. The kids were like, when are we going to put out Halloween decorations? And I felt like crap because um I'm usually on top of it. So last year was good.
00:02:45
Speaker
um I don't go as hard as I used to. used to turn it into freaking Halloween town. I used to strip. I mean, that's, you know, I don't know. I feel bad because like, I wish my kids could have gotten that version of like, But they'd wreck it, though. They're still a little too... They're still a little bit too little. Maybe when they get a little older, we'll we'll go back to going all out. But ah yeah, I mean, we used to literally strip the entire house, or I would strip the entire house of decor and like just turn it into like a ah freaking haunted house.
00:03:10
Speaker
um But you know we do... You'd just asking for frustration to do it nowadays. Stella would be taking everything up to her room. Yeah, exactly. But ah we still we still put out stuff, and we got you know our inflatables for the yard, and we turned we got our little solar lights that we put pumpkins on and everything. So...
00:03:24
Speaker
We still get it spooky around here, but it's not nearly to the scale of of what it used to be. Jordan, have you guys been watching any scary movies yet? um Yeah, we started a little bit. We haven't been like nightly watching or anything, but we've been dabbling here and there.

Spooky Season Movies & Horror Conventions

00:03:40
Speaker
Yeah, we we kicked off our spooky season film fest. we The first one movie we watched was... um Scream. Oh yeah, of course. Yeah. We kicked it off with a, with a classic scream. You cannot go wrong. Still hits every year. Um, just love And then we watched the sixth sense, which is so crazy because I don't, I don't even know that I've watched that movie since it came out. Um, I remember it just being such a big deal.
00:04:02
Speaker
Um, but looking back on it now, you know, it's like, dude, it was so obvious. The twist and the swerve was so obvious the entire time, dude. like Yeah. I will say, dude I don't know if we were just more naive watching movies in 99. We definitely were. But yeah, like,
00:04:16
Speaker
Because I try to just, you know, put the twist ending out of my head, but it's so odd. Like, I don't know how anybody ever didn't know that he wasn't dead when we back. It must really just be like a one-time thing yeah to watch it for the twist. Because it never, like, watching it. But like a revolutionary twist. It was like, oh my. It was huge. But now I'm like, it would have been more of a twist if he was alive the whole time.
00:04:34
Speaker
You know what mean? Yeah. Still a good movie, but there's no twist to the ending. So, yeah. Yeah. Then we recently watched The Thing from 1982. It's got Kurt Russell. Oh, man. It's so good. I know I've seen bits and pieces of it. And I remember when we recorded our Halloween movie bracket, our spooky. 2023. 2023. Yeah, our spooky season. Yeah, we might do a re-release on that soon. But remember Hawk being a big fan of that. He was like, know, the practical effects were really awesome. And so we watched it and he was not lying you. The practical effects were just stellar. Like, I can't even imagine. Like, it was so cool and kind of unsettling, like in 2025. I can't even imagine how that felt in 1982, know?
00:05:13
Speaker
you know It's, uh, this is just an added bonus. Me going to Minnesota. Didn't even know this was a thing until last week, but there's a horror convention going on in Minneapolis this weekend. So tomorrow night, me and a buddy of mine are going to go and, uh, Otis Driftwood from, um, ah Devil's Rejection House of a Thousand Corpses is going to be there. So I'll meet him tomorrow night.
00:05:34
Speaker
that's so cool dude i just got a picture of jordan's um horse-drawn carriage dude he's got like yeah it's like the the amish buggy with a uh with a skeleton on it super cool and we have a black skeleton pony that we're gonna put reins around and he'll be holding the reins so yeah it'll be really cool awesome well we ah jordan will send pictures to the group he'll post pictures as uh you know he gets everything set up and you know spooked out you make sure you uh share in the group any cool merch you see at the uh the horror con yeah i want to know about that too yeah hold we're gonna get there around seven tomorrow night and it's up until 10 so i'll definitely have a good chance to look at everything if you see any good if you see any good spalding merch uh let me know uh sheen tell us what is new on the farm
00:06:18
Speaker
ah not a whole lot, man. Not a whole lot to be new around here. it's just, uh, you know, garden seasons wrapping up and, um, you know, kind of cashing everything in for the year, you know? Yeah.
00:06:29
Speaker
Uh, did you tell them about Marley, the hen actually being a rooster? yeah Yeah. So we got, you know, one of my favorite little chickens that we hatched this year, of course. It's always the favorites. That's the way it always works out. ah she's She's a rooster. So, um you know, we're going to, I think we might have to get rid of Solo Chicoa because he's kind of an asshole. Like he's, ah he beat up our other rooster.
00:06:49
Speaker
Yeah, he is a true heel. And, you know, we hatched him here, but anytime he gets out, he gets after the kids. So ah he he's been on the chopping block for a while. So I'm going try to rehome him and find somewhere where he can go.
00:07:02
Speaker
run free. Um, or, you know, somebody will get him in a box and he's milling the Jordan. Yeah. He'd be some good, he'd be some good, uh, you know, uh, watchdog for all your decorations. You know what i mean? Oh yeah. Rizzo would love it.

00:07:35
Speaker
So I'm nursing a little bit of a head cold. So I'm definitely going to kind of tee it up and then kick it over to Jordan and Sheena to do a lot of back and forth.

WrestleMania Speculations and Fan Impact

00:07:42
Speaker
and know they're definitely are both a little bit more passionate about this first topic than I am. We'll kick it off with the big news.
00:07:48
Speaker
It's all but confirmed. We got the official announcement coming most likely tomorrow at 3 o'clock Eastern. We are expecting to hear that WrestleMania 43 is going to be held in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
00:07:59
Speaker
I mean, I want to say that I'm surprised, but I'm not surprised. Doesn't mean that I hate it any less. I just, dude, I don't know, man. i just feel like, and know I know, know WWE is a global company. It's been a global company for a while, dude. But, I mean, WrestleMania, that belongs to us. You know what I mean? Like, that's a, that's a, an American territory. And, um...
00:08:21
Speaker
It's just like, dude, I mean, now now there's no limits. they could just nothing safe nothing Nothing is sacred anymore, man. WrestleMania is going to Saudi Arabia. um i mean, not that anybody's goingnna be able to afford to go to WrestleMania anyway here in America, but it's just at the same time, like, I i can't stand this, dude.
00:08:40
Speaker
Yeah, it ah it felt like if they were going to take WrestleMania out of the North America, it should have been in the UK to me for the first one. But, I mean, obviously I get why they're doing it. Like, this is obviously a money thing, so yeah it is what it is. And like you said, nobody here can afford it anyway. It'll probably be $30,000 for a lower bowl seat in two years.
00:09:02
Speaker
There's still a glimmer of hope that that original rumor that was going around a couple months ago comes to pass. And not that this is going to be any better, but it'll at least be something. You know, the original story was that they were going to do two WrestleManias in 2027. See, I hate that even more.
00:09:17
Speaker
Similar to that year, they did the greatest Royal Rumble. Like, there'd be one WrestleMania here in the States and then another one in Saudi. So, I don't know. um don't know if that would be any better what that would even freaking look like. but Nope. I've seen what I needed to see.
00:09:30
Speaker
Yeah, that's the story for now. I'm with you guys, man. i At the end of the day, I think it's going non-factor because unless WrestleMania is coming to Nashville, I'm not paying the money to go to it anyways. It doesn't matter. I like i mean, it's just to me, it's just not the same, bro. like It's going to be in the afternoon.
00:09:44
Speaker
i mean well I mean, there's that, dude. But ah still, that um I think that makes it worse, too. Because Mania is like the one event that I'm like, yeah, dude, we're going settle in, freaking watch it at night, dude. Everything feels more important. Here's my thing, though.
00:09:57
Speaker
It already had changed to me as is because they're doing Vegas back-to-back years. like to me it had already changed just with the last two years. Yeah. Yeah. ah Yeah, like the the the the the ship that of people being mad about this. Like, yeah, I'm kind of with you, Jordan. Mine had already left with ah really just the the skyrocketing ticket prices over the last couple of years. Yeah, again, you know, it's not like, you know, we weren't planning on going. It wasn't anything like that. It doesn't personally impact us. I just think as a whole, I'm just, we...
00:10:30
Speaker
I'm notorious for not liking change in these areas, right? Like I like what I like and I like it to stay the same. um So when stuff starts just going off the freaking rails like this, especially at the cost of the consumer, like when it just becomes like, you know, they're literally just squeezing every fucking red cent out of their patrons just for the for the hell of it. is Because I mean...
00:10:52
Speaker
I mean, how much more profit can you possibly want to make? You know what i mean? Like, it's just especially when it's like such horrible economic times for most people. And they're just I mean, it's just like we don't we don't care. We don't we do not care. We're raising ticket prices again.
00:11:08
Speaker
um It's just to me, it's gross. And it like it puts me off the whole thing, you know. Dude, people got to stop paying. People just, yeah at some point, you just got to take a stand and just have it be a half empty arena. And maybe then they get the picture. But until that happens, they're just going to keep making it higher and higher until people finally just say no. I mean...
00:11:30
Speaker
I would love to see that happen. i don't I can't foresee a world in which that happens, but I would love for someone to start some sort of grassroots movement where it's just like, we're not fucking doing this, dude. No, we're not doing this. like you know And somebody said it in the group. like they They are totally...
00:11:47
Speaker
like, like um what's the Confusing. Like, this isn't the UFC audience. You know what i mean? The UFC audience is a bunch of f freaking gym rat bros who, you know, want to go see people like punch each other's faces off, right? Like, you know, bunch of like Vegas gambling mofos.
00:12:02
Speaker
We are like families taking our kids to watch freaking Jimmy Uso yeet or J Uso yeet. You know what i mean? Like it's not same. hearing that, but dude, tune into Raw. Go look at the pay-per-views. There's people hanging from the freaking rafters, man. People are there. I get it. The families are still going. They're just richer families than us, man.
00:12:18
Speaker
Like... Dude, the shows are still full. That's why they haven't hit the limit, man. They're literally just testing the limit, dude. They're going to see exactly how high can go and they still sell out. And then when whenever they reach that point and and they start to see people just not buy the tickets, they'll start walking it back a little bit, man.
00:12:33
Speaker
Like, it's just... I keep hearing that, that you know people are mad, but dude, there's not enough people because they're still finding plenty of people literally every big show they got. I mean, you can see some empty seats at some shows, but for the most part, dude, it's still a packed house every time WWE comes to tail. I know, but if you can't get in the nosebleeds for under a couple hundred dollars per ticket, dude, that's just absolutely unhinged. It's stupid. unhinged You know what i mean? It's dumbest thing ever.
00:12:58
Speaker
like i don't i mean I feel bad for the people who are paying that. i mean and I don't think that everybody has the money. I think there are people that want that want to go to these and maybe it's some sort of bucket list item and they're just financing it because I can't imagine that there's you know people taking their whole families to go see freaking Wrestlepalooza and you know just shelling out the cash for it.
00:13:19
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. But like I said, ah it's just like Jordan said, until people stop going, they're going to keep driving the price. you're not You're not wrong, but it's just, dude, i it it just triggers a part of me that just grosses me out and pisses me off and gets into my like corporate greed center. you Yeah. It's definitely bad PR. I don't know. I can't remember exactly who it was. Whoever this TKO executive that got out on some live broadcast and said that, yeah, they were still working to find, you know, basically said what saying. They were all still working to find the limit. They said that they have room to kind of ah grow the the ticket prices for WWE, similar how they've done with UFC. Yeah, and he, I mean, and the the worst part is he quoted you quoted Vince McMahon. I think i I think I might have a screen. Yeah, he said Vince was always about putting on the shows for the He said TKO President Mark Shapiro states that Vince McMahon was primarily pricing tickets for families and wasn't focused on maximizing the opportunity to increase said prices like TKO is focused on doing.
00:14:14
Speaker
But yeah, they and they literally came out and said, like, we are finding ways to just like, you know, make as much money as humanly possible. And we're not even they said we're not even close yet. They're not even like, you know, there yet. I got to pay off the TKO debt is what they keep saying. Like, and until that debt's paid off, they're they're not going to do anything about tickets other than make them higher.
00:14:38
Speaker
and don't know. Sucks for the common fan. It really does. It really does, dude. Because I have zero intention of ever paying to go to a show until they get some kind of handle on the prices.
00:14:49
Speaker
I'm not doing it, dude. Because one, ah you know, I don't like to sit. I like if I'm going to go, I like to have good seats. Right. And I understand like, you know, you some people just get whatever seats you can get. But I like what if I'm going to go and spend the money, I'm like, OK, I'm going to get good seats. But I can't even we can't even afford to get good seats. You know what i mean? Like it's it's ridiculous, dude. And even if we could afford it, I would be like, this is so stupid. We could be like making our mortgage payment and like, you know, buying groceries.
00:15:13
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Or you could go live to watch 40 minutes of commercials between matches on the Jumbotron. Yeah, exactly, dude. That's the other thing is there's never been less live wrestling at a w WWE show than there is now.
00:15:26
Speaker
I know. And you know what's sick? It's like, you know, so now they're going to give us this big show at Wrestlepalooza, which we're going to talk about. So they're just like pulling out all the stops, right? Like we're getting Seth and seth and Becky and ah Punk and AJ, which is like so huge. We're getting Brock and Cena.
00:15:41
Speaker
And Usos reuniting. The Usos reuniting and just all all of this stuff, right? So they're going to pull out all the stops for Wrestlepalooza because it's the first yeah ESPN pay-per-view. But it's like after that, after they get people over to the platform, they're just going to freaking go back to the same shit. You know what i mean? So it's like, it's, it's again, just a bait and switch.
00:16:02
Speaker
A master bait and switch, if you will. Wow. i I don't know. I mean, I've still generally been happy with the product, dude. I don't mind sitting at home watching it. I just ain't paying those prices to go watch it on TV. So I don't got any beef. I thought SummerSlam was pretty dang good, man. They gave me two moments that I'm not going to forget with those. but But hold on.
00:16:20
Speaker
Okay, you say you're you're fine watching it at home. Would you have been completely fine going to SummerSlam if you dropped 20K on tickets? no exactly that's my point i'm not exactly i don't know if there's anything i'd pay to watch live but like that's the point though is like that's it like dude like until i just think it's absolutely ridiculous that people keep paying this like and i and we've been trained we've been trained they're like the audience the most important part of like what we do we're the product dude We are the product, but it's like, so now you're just excluding, like, you know, vast majority of people Why do you think they're doing more overseas shows than ever now? Because those people don't get, like, they just don't get them as much as we do. Yeah, so they're chomping at the bit to just, like, go all out. I mean...
00:17:07
Speaker
How many like this to me seems like the most we've ever seen WWE go overseas, especially for like Raw and SmackDown and pay-per-views and stuff like, dude, they just spent like basically a month over there.
00:17:20
Speaker
And it works twofold because so you're hitting these markets that are starred for this live wrestling. so it seems like a big deal. And now in turn. It's created scarcity of big WWE shows in the States. So now it seems like it's a big deal when they come to your town in the States too. So you're like, better take it. I really did. I, I, as from a business perspective, I really got no quorums. If you're talking about just maximizing, making money, they're literally doing everything right, man. Oh yeah. They're doing everything you should do to, to maximize. They are, but it's, it's literally like the, just the, the corporate, just absolute,
00:17:51
Speaker
just yeah it feels scummy what they're it's scummy dude like it is absolutely scummy we're awesome and going nuts dude until people are there and they're mad and i get that turning their back on it i'm not saying you're wrong you're not wrong but i mean me as a person i can only speak for myself i can only speak for myself as one little peon wrestling fan out there right It makes me feel gross. And I think the product, like it makes the product feel just like you're going to expect so much more out of it because it's, you know, they're making so much money out of it and you're just, they're not going to give you that much more. You know what I mean? i don't know.
00:18:25
Speaker
no you're, you're exactly right. They're, they're not giving you anything more than they have in the past 20 years. I mean, you're still getting the same wrestling. You're just getting less of it on the live shows than you've ever gotten. And you're paying more than you've ever paid. Like, it's just,
00:18:39
Speaker
And you're getting fed you're getting fed more ads, more freaking corporate bullshit, dude. Like, it's just, I don't know. I know, but you're acting like like Triple H is like coming in living room giving the pedigree until you turn on Netflix to watch it. I'm not. I'm not. i'm still I still watch it. Hart's not going to put you in the sharpshooter until you get on Ticketmaster. No, I'm not saying that, dude. Obviously, I have free free will and you know the right to not watch it. I could totally just find something else to spend my time doing.
00:19:07
Speaker
It's just, to me, it's just a shame that it's like all of a sudden. And the changes happen so fast. So we had changes in wrestling. Like, we had the whole history of wrestling, right? More has changed in the last year of wrestling than the entire fucking hundred years that we had wrestling before We've warp speed the last, I would say, I really say since CM Punk came back, dude. I feel like,
00:19:28
Speaker
CM Punk coming back to AEW was like, ah you know to quote Spider-Man the Multiverse, that was like a canon event, right? That was like an event that made a mile marker in the wrestling timeline. Everything happened since then. The five years since CM Punk came back had been an absolute whirlwind across both major companies for multiple reasons, dude. So, yeah, you're definitely right. it's We're we're in a huge period of change right now, but...
00:19:50
Speaker
you know I don't know. i i I don't like the prices going up either. I wish I could still be super excited. If I if i see Raw is coming to Memphis three months from now, I'd say, yeah, we're going. I don't need to hear your shit about who's going to be there.
00:20:04
Speaker
Let me buy my tickets and start getting excited for a family trip. But now I'm like probably not going anyway, so I'm keeping eye on It's going to have to be like you know Seth versus Roman one-on-one, something like that, to get me to buy a ticket, dude. but In their defense, man, if they did you you take pride in the eggs your chickens lay, right?
00:20:18
Speaker
Yeah. Let's say they get a reputation in Oakland. Hey, these are the free, these are the best eggs. the These are the number one primo eggs you can buy. If somebody's wanting to come to your house and spend a hundred bucks for a dozen, are you going to no, no, just give me 20. We're good.
00:20:30
Speaker
and I mean, no but but I wouldn't, but that's like, you're saying one specific person. Yeah. I mean, if I had like thousands of people wanting to spend hundred dollars on eggs, I mean, I guess, yeah, you're right. less? No, I wouldn't charge less. I'm not saying, dude, I understand this is the nature of America and it's the nature of business and it's the nature corporations. saying something like it, bro.
00:20:48
Speaker
I don't like it. I've always hated it, dude. I think it's i think it's sick and twisted that you know we live in an economy where the wages have not went up. You know what i mean? The cost of everything is like moving at freaking warp speed, right? We've got tariffs.
00:21:03
Speaker
I mean, shit is jumping up like $10 in price. It's not like we're getting like 25 cent increments. Like you will see like a pair of pants that were $59, you know, six months ago are now $69. You know what I mean?
00:21:15
Speaker
Stuff is just absolutely unhinged groceries. People can't afford any of this. Right. And. You know, you got corporations just flaunting the fact that they made 419 million more than they made last year. You know what i mean? Like, it's its numbers that we can't even comprehend because they're like, oh, we're going to give you a $1,300 stimulus check. You know, congratulations, American people.
00:21:35
Speaker
You know? Everything is just, that's the other problem is just everything across the board has gone up. Like, it ain't just wrestling ticket prices. I mean, I saw something the other day, 75% American people are living paycheck to paycheck. And to me, that even seems low.
00:21:50
Speaker
Yeah, they doubled our, like, sewer usage, right? So, like, people in our town, like, their their water bills and stuff have, like, doubled, right? And our electric bills have, like, doubled. So, it's not even just, yeah, stuff, like, you know, things that you're buying. Yeah, you don't have to shop, but, I mean, are you not going to use your lights? You're not going to take a shower now? Like, what's the deal? If it's yellow, let it mellow, dude. If it's brown, flush it down. Yeah, exactly. that's the world That's the world we're living in, dude. So, yeah.
00:22:14
Speaker
And i mean, I'm not trying to like, you know, be depressing and like talk about, you know, you know hard times, baby. But it's just, again, it just lends itself to how gross all of this feels. When, again, if they want to do it, that's fine. But then the reports come out and they're just like bragging about, you know, absolutely just fucking their customers, dude. Like, it's just...
00:22:34
Speaker
I mean, to me, I'm just like, i mean, I'm out on it. You're preaching to the choir. I'm out on, you know, last two times came to Memphis. We didn't go to, we we respectfully declined. So I'm right there with you, dude. I kind I just accept it. It's just the way the world, man. Eventually. Yeah. I think the prices will come down. People just stop going to shows and then we'll see what WWE does. Ball be in their court, man. Yeah.
00:22:54
Speaker
They'll just take, they'll move it overseas. I know. That's what they're going to sell to Saudi Arabia. was going to say, it'll be the end of wrestling here as we know it, dude. Like that, see, to me, that's one of the things that's like depressing because eventually, yeah, there's going to be no wrestling and they're just going to shut it down and, you know, change it entirely or sell it to some other entity. Well, we still have our little Pakistani angel, Tony Khan, to save us. He'll still be here with AW.
00:23:16
Speaker
No, we got freaking Dustin Five Star here. True. We got Memphis Wrestling. yeah Here in Memphis, dude. so Even better. yeah um All right. Let's go to something not so negative. For all the Evil Empire WWE, what they're doing, they did provide some serious fan service last

AJ Lee's Return and Impact on WWE

00:23:31
Speaker
Friday night. AJ Lee back to WWE after a decade.
00:23:34
Speaker
Which, I mean, that is is unhinged. Again, you know we're moving at warp speed here. Things are crazier than they've ever been. a j Lee is back in WWE after 10 freaking years, dude. And it's wild to me. like you know I've seen so many reports of like people. like you know There's been so many people that have come into the wrestling realm in the last 10 years that didn't even know who AJ Lee was or like her impact or you know what type of...
00:23:58
Speaker
wrestler she was and uh they didn't really understand the hype um so that that's kind of crazy to me but i feel like her her um her return has just been just wild dude jordan you're the women's wrestling expert and you were obviously way more into the product than we were at really the peak of her run how historically significant is this that aj leaves back in wwe i mean dude she was one of the best wrestlers in the worst women's wrestling era of wwe like back i'm so I'm sorry. This ain't moving me the same way it's moving everybody else. Like, dude, the women's division in WWE is so fucking stacked right now that I swear if they put AJ in like a pecking order, she would be around the middle of the card. Like, there's just. I'm sorry, dude. No, I can't agree with you, dude. i think Dude, she's the reason that we have the women's division that we have now, man.
00:24:50
Speaker
like if If it wasn't for AJ Lee, none of these other girls would have been able to do and be the the characters that they are. still be having and matches. Yeah, we would still be having freaking bra and panties. We'd still be having these just absolutely useless freaking six women fucking tag matches and shit. Pudding matches. Yeah. I mean, dude...
00:25:09
Speaker
She she ushered in like just a different type of energy. um And yeah, yeah, you're right. It was a an abysmal time in women's wrestling.
00:25:20
Speaker
But also you can't say that like anything that's happening now. She was like the crux of that, dude. So Sheena is saying that, ah you know, they're like the 94, 1995 Rockets that won back-to-back championships, but they got the asterisks that they did it because it was the two years Jordan was gone. But that doesn't mean that, you know, they weren't great. Jordan, your rebuttal.
00:25:41
Speaker
I mean, i don't think it was her that the reason WWE's women's division is the way it is now. WWE got extremely lucky. They had the four horsewomen coming up in NXT at the same time.
00:25:52
Speaker
I think that's when women's wrestling and WWE changed. Diva's division was doing nothing for w w e That title, it to me, is one of the most meaningless titles in the history of WWE. She was she openly spoke out about it. She was the anti-diva. Yeah, she was the anti-diva, dude. She hated the freaking divas title, dude. She spoke out about how it was just ridiculous, Openly hating the divas title and being one of the best wrestlers is two different things. Yeah.
00:26:20
Speaker
I get what you're saying. Like, yeah, she was really, really good for like the locker room and women in general. But as far as actual wrestling, she's not holding a candle to any of the girls. She was one of the first women to just like blow up the freaking merch stands, dude. She had merch. She had like 50 freaking merch items, dude.
00:26:38
Speaker
Like no other women's wrestler ever had that before, dude. And she she was like the number one selling. merchandise everything you're saying does not improve her in the ring for me like i get what you're saying like yeah she's huge for the women's movement but as far as like in ring wrestling she's not touching the girls now mean yeah it's it's totally different now but that's my argument a lot of the i get your argument but like my argument is she's not touching the girls that are wrestling now like i going be able to hang, dude. i don't I mean, I don't think she's going to come out and be like flat. I don't think she's going to come out and be like freaking Jade out there. you know what I mean?
00:27:13
Speaker
But I think, I think, I mean, yeah, there's, ah you got, you got Eoskai, you got Rhea Ripley, you got freaking Asuka. I mean, those women are just like absolutely next level, but I don't think, I don't think they're just going to like walk all over AJ Lee.
00:27:28
Speaker
I mean, AJ Lee still looks amazing, dude. ten Ten years and she hasn't changed an ounce, dude. nuts. How the hell did she not age at all? She definitely did not age. I mean, like I said, it's cool, but I i don't know.
00:27:41
Speaker
Not moving me. George takes a shit on AJ Lee. I was not expecting that. I wasn't expecting that either. It just doesn't move me. Like, dude, I just was. She was always just fine to me. Like, it was never like when she left, I wasn't like heartbroken at all. There was just, don't know.
00:27:56
Speaker
You know what I like about AJ Lee? AJ Lee had convictions and she freaking stood by him, dude. You know what i mean? Like she was like, she didn't like the women's division. She didn't like the way Stephanie was like, Stephanie said something about, it was like women's appreciation month or something. I can't remember. And Stephanie's like going on and on about, you know, appreciating women and AJ Lee just freaking added her directly and was like, you know,
00:28:16
Speaker
your women on the roster make like, you know, a third of what your men make and, you know, really just called her out as far as like, you know, we don't get any time on TV and all this stuff. and You know what the other thing that helps both of you quite a bit too, is you guys took a 10 year break while i was sitting there watching the ruthless aggression era and the shit. I mean, that's probably true. That makes a huge difference. You guys didn't watch that. You guys came back when WWE was getting good again.
00:28:42
Speaker
Like you guys missed the entire 10 year lull between the, Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era so everyone we saw we saw AJ Lee's last two matches dude I know i feel like we kind of lost the claim to fame on that yeah but like everything that you guys saw was like the the end of her run when the women's division was in the process of changing like you oh that's true you guys missed that 10 year run of just absolute dog shit wrestling and I sat through all of it so like I I just feel like like I just remember what it looked like in the ring and it was not good and
00:29:15
Speaker
I don't know I guess that's what I'm reflecting on more than anything. mean, yes. I can, you know, bringing up that point, i can see where you're coming from because I can't even imagine what the women's matches were looking like during that period of time.
00:29:28
Speaker
it wasn't just the women's. It was the men's matches, too. True. Yeah, the men's matches were true. I mean, John Cena catches a little bit of that, too, dude. Like, yeah, he was the man for a long time, but he was the man during, like, yeah I think it pretty, like without a doubt, like the worst period of WWE is when John Cena was on top. It's not so much his fault. Dude, four of the biggest WWE wrestlers were on top at that point. like You had Lesnar, Cena, Randy, and Batista all at that time.
00:29:54
Speaker
i mean That's who came up. like That was the rookie class when all that happened. so see I feel like Lesnar, that period from 18 to 22, feel like that was still pretty good, man. I don't mind the early Ruthless aggression. For me, like...
00:30:07
Speaker
oh like And again, I stopped watching actively between 2004 and 2014, but like from what I've gone back and pieced together, I think it was still pretty decent through 2007, man. To me, the Dark Ages are 2007 2012, think they started pulling the nose up a little bit. And it was really bad during that stretch.
00:30:26
Speaker
I remember like I would sometimes during that time I'd be flipping two channels on a Monday night. You know, if it's commercial break Monday night football and I catch Raw, like the whole, when they went like, you know what was it like two years straight where there's a celebrity host every single Monday night on Raw, like the shit like that. The anonymous GM and all that stuff. Like, dude, like my comparison is going from like the Attitude Era. You were watching like 70 inch flat screen and then you started watching Ruthless Aggression. And it was like you brought back one of those TVs with the VCRs attached to it. Like that's what it looked like to me when I was watching it. Yeah.
00:30:56
Speaker
I actually, after hearing both of you guys out, man, I kind of side a little bit more with Jordan. I do, I do think it was a cool moment, man. I always like seeing somebody come back, but I've never, I, you know, I had never been, and not once in the last 10 years since we saw her last match, that Raw after Mania 31, have I been like, man, I'm hoping this is the, this is the year that AJ Lee comes back. You know, I really been counting down the moments, but I think it's been a fun story. I think that you know Seth and Becky have been really, really... they've They've been so much better as heels together on screen than they were as babyfaces back in 19. And I think it'll be a fun match for what it is. Now, it sounds like you know if the dirt sheets are to be believed on this one that she signed a multi-year deal, this isn't just like a one-off. So i'm I'm assuming she's going to kind of be on maybe like that Trish type status where she just pops in now and again for a storyline. I can't imagine she's there week in and week out, but...
00:31:43
Speaker
It should be pretty fun, man. The mixed tag matches are usually a pretty good time. Yeah. And she was working with, um I think, women the women of wrestling during their time down and stuff. You what mean? she's been still, like, actively involved in, you know, wrestling in some capacity. It wasn't like she's just, like, you know...
00:31:59
Speaker
at home, you know, petting. Yeah, like I'm sure she's going to be totally fine. I don't think it's going to be, ah you know, Kenta Kobashi, like Mitsuhiri, Mitsuhara, five-star classic for mid-90s All Japan, but I'm sure it's going to be a totally fine match on at Wrestle Palooza. Oh, yeah. It'll still be fun. I'm not saying it's not going to be fun. I'm just, don't know.
00:32:17
Speaker
I'm just a little bit... jaded, I guess, because I watched all. And if I'm being honest, you know you know us, we're we're notorious like you know punk haters, dude. To me, AJ Lee being back makes punk a little more likable, dude. like I think you just watching him be so happy for her and like you know I don't know, I feel like... ah He's still a bitch. I feel like it made him just ah just a skosh more likable. Also, i started watching Unreal and um you know that's been... I refuse.
00:32:44
Speaker
I do think I i have enjoyed Punks WWE as much as I think he's just a despicable person, dude. I begrudgingly can admit that he's been pretty dang entertaining since he's been back.
00:32:55
Speaker
But yeah, we'll see how it goes at Russell Palooza. What's the, did we have a third time? Oh yeah. Speaking Russell Palooza, run us down the cards so far, Sheen, that. Let's we're doing. Right now, I think we only got four matches a week out. So i'm assuming we get another match added maybe tomorrow night at SmackDown. But first up, we got the big one, Brock and Cena.
00:33:12
Speaker
um Dude, does Brock and Luce his first match back in two years? I feel like this is going to be pretty dang good because I'm not sure who's going to top on this one. I think this is going to have a Schmoz ending, dude. I can't imagine either one of these guys. would don't know.
00:33:25
Speaker
I don't know. That's where you come in. You come in with all the freaking creative hygiene. Yeah. suppose you can start putting stuff place for his, whoever, whatever his last match is going to be. Or maybe we see, maybe it's a two-parter. Maybe we see Brock win this first one, the Cena gets his leg back sometime soon. But yeah, they, I really don't know how to, how do you call this one, man? Cause I feel like Brock, unless maybe Logan Paul rears his ugly head. Yeah. Logan Paul could pop up or the other thing is that, you know, there's, I don't think it's out of question that this is literally Brock's back for one match and then he disappears back into the wilderness.
00:33:53
Speaker
Yeah, I don't... i See, that's what I think. I don't think this is going to long-term thing. I think Brock is going to come back. This might be the only time we see him wrestle, honestly. It wouldn't surprise at Maybe he pops up at the Rumble to set up a match at Mania, but yeah, I don't i don't see Brock hanging around. So maybe... It should be fun, though, man. I don't know what they're going with this, but it's going to be exciting. It's going exciting to see what Brock looks like, dude. It's been two-plus years, man. so I'm sure he still got it, but maybe he's added some new wrinkles, dude. don't know. Maybe he's got some new ring gear. What if it comes out in the old, ah the original trunks, like 03, 04, dude? you Not the shorts You think he's going to try the shooting star press again?
00:34:27
Speaker
That would be epic. He should get he should just get some trunks with like some fringe on them, some rodeo fringe. Like Chitaka? Yeah. And just wear like a yeah flannel vest. Come on, some chaps.
00:34:39
Speaker
Where I talked about the mixed tag. Usos getting back together. you know, dude, they've been playing it up. I feel like I've already seen the Usos back together like two or three times, though, dude. Like, am I crazy? Or, like, you know, we saw them we definitely saw them at War Games when they all got back together. And I feel like I've seen them in six-man tags and shit since then. yeah. But maybe maybe they're trying to run it back because um Usos you know blow-off match was so terrible that maybe they're trying to plant some seeds of extension. I want to see them go back to the paint, dude.
00:35:07
Speaker
Bring back the shorts and the the face paint stuff, man. that's That's what I want to see. Yeah, right. There is zero chance WWE is ditching the Yeet. No fucking chance. can do it for one night only, though, man. One night only, bring back the Haka and everything, and then ah and go back to the Yeet, man.
00:35:21
Speaker
dude you can still you can still make like painted up yeet gear you know i mean like you know is it just very bright and colorful is it just me or does it feel like main event has been the same thing for an entire two months like it's been yeah the bronze bro yeah like i just braun and bronson have turned into the uh they're like the old bar they're like cesaro and sheamus bm security Yeah. you're Totally competent in the ring, right? So it's not like you can like totally take a shit on them. But but yeah, it's definitely gotten a a little bit monotonous.
00:35:54
Speaker
Bronotonous, as the case may be. Bronotonous. Does it feel like, though, that they're separating Seth from and Bron, dude? They've created a big separation. At first, I thought we were getting eventually... I thought it was going to be Seth, then Bron Breaker, and then Bronson. But no, it's definitely... They're bebopping Rocksteady to Seth Shredder. I thought we were running back...
00:36:14
Speaker
the evolution storyline where eventually we see Braun Breaker in the Batista mode, like turn on. I would not be surprised if they just completely sever that and just make Braun and Braun, like, you know, just their own tag team. And like, you know, i think they're getting the tag belts. Yeah. here And then, yeah, but then just not be, you know, really the vision anymore. I mean, guess they could still keep the vision. No, no, no. I think they're still keeping the faction, dude. don't think the faction's splitting up, but they're definitely pivoted a little bit.
00:36:37
Speaker
And I think Braun Breaker has been probably been the biggest loser in the storyline so far. Yeah. Yeah, yeah good good observation. And then Stephanie and Io for the championship. I think this going Steph's crown a moment. All signs point to that. I cannot...
00:36:51
Speaker
As much as I love Io, you know, she's got this drama going on with Asuka and stuff. So I think, I don't think Steph's beating Io clean. Cause I mean, dude, at this point in time, beating Io is a hell of freaking deal, man. You beat Io clean in the ring. that That's a hell an accomplishment.
00:37:03
Speaker
I don't think it's happening. I think we see Steph with some shenanigans, get her first women's world championship. Agreed. What other match do you think they add to this card? um You got assume Rhea's going to on there, right? Maybe find a way to get Rhea on there. It's going something big money. Cody could come back. Cody's been MIA.
00:37:21
Speaker
ah Cody and Drew could be a big one. I'd say mostly, if you had to maybe put money on it, I think it's gonna be Randy and Drew. i think we're going to Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre. i think i think Yeah, because ultimately, I think the road the roads are going to be yeah Cody and Randy, right?
00:37:33
Speaker
Well, no, it does drew i mean Drew's the one that put Cody out. that's why I know, but I'm saying, i' like that's but that I think all roads are leading to bigger match. yeah Cody and Randy Orton, that could be a WrestleMania match for sure for the belt.
00:37:44
Speaker
But no, I'm thinking we get Drew and Randy, because I think Randy is as huge star as Cody Rhodes is with the rest of the audience. i feel like Randy might bring some ah some lapsed fans, some casuals in on to to check that out on ESPN.
00:37:57
Speaker
Now the real question, are you guys using ESPN or are you going to use a VPN? I set up my app because we get it for free. With Hulu, we don't have to pay. We don't have to pay the 30 bucks for a month. So I did. I set up the app. I have not watched anything on it yet though, man. But I did get logged in and I got it set up on my devices. Yeah, it's set up on mine too. We'll we'll see how it goes.
00:38:15
Speaker
I still feel like, dude, as big a brand as ESPN is, man, like, I feel like they completely botched this, dude. It's still confusing as hell. Like, even once I got logged in, in Jordan, you know, feel free to share your thoughts.
00:38:26
Speaker
I was still confused if I was actually in the new ESPN app or if I was still in the old ESPN Plus because, like, ESPN Plus is still a thing. yeah But then they got their new streamer and the new streamer is called ESPN. Let me give you guys some context, dude.
00:38:39
Speaker
it Seth is not like me. He's not like technologically like you know declining. now Seth is on the open up. He knows all the all the the tech stuff. So if he doesn't know where he's at, then you don't like you know all the normies like me, we're going to be lost. Yeah, there's you know there's no difference when you log in. i did Exactly the same thing i was thinking. I'm like, am I even logged into the new thing? like It just...
00:39:01
Speaker
It looks the exact same. Like, nothing changed Why would you not make it, like, a whole brand new, like, big, shiny platform? They should have dropped ESPN+. Let ESPN+, just die on the vine for a month and go away. And then come up with some sort of name, Dave, for your new thing, man. ESPN Zone, whatever. Whatever you want call it. They've had multiple different, you know, brands they could bring back from...
00:39:21
Speaker
from years past, but yeah, but it's super confusing. And like Jordan said, you don't even really get any confirmation that you're on the new streamer. You know you never want be a situation where you're wondering, like, am I in? yeah You know what I'm saying? That's what said. Yeah, like, you never you never want that to happen. That's definitely a worst-case scenario. Yeah.
00:39:35
Speaker
yeah And then the other thing, dude, you know, it I feel like it, like... There wasn't even like a big deal made about it launching. You know what I mean? yeah If I run ESPN, I'm finding either whether it's an NFL game or it's one of the big college football games, I'm saying, hey, if you want to watch this game on Saturday or on Monday night, whatever, the only place see it is this app. Exactly. Especially especially if you're expecting you know people to shell out $30 a month. du You better make that a freaking event, dude. Yeah, I don't know if it was something with the licensing or so or like they had some sort of deadline they had to meet, but it felt like they just like rushed to like make this streamer stand up. and
00:40:09
Speaker
And yeah, man, just, I don't know. very very ad Very weird, man, especially nowadays. do i feel like companies are so calculated with how they roll this stuff out. This seemed like a huge botch. And don't know, dude, we'll see how it goes with WWE being on there. But I feel like the overall ESPN streamer app, you know, I feel like it's doomed from the start. But it seems like it's just, it's already on freaking weak legs coming out the gates. What what do you think, Jordy? Yeah. Dude, the same exact thing I was thinking. So the day it launched, the only thing that I saw is the the little um on the bottom of yeah ESPN. I saw it scroll one time that day.

ESPN App Issues and AEW's Fan Engagement

00:40:40
Speaker
And it's like, this is how you launch your new app? Because the whole time I thought it was a brand new app. like When they announced this thing, I'm like, all right, there's there's a new ESPN DTC. And I was like searching for it and the only thing that kept coming up was the yeah ESPN app. And I'm like, yeah so they changed nothing? like they just They're rolling the exact same thing out? And Sure as shit. It just, it does not seem like it didn't even change like the little icon. It's just yeah ESPN, but you, what you can log, like when you get on there now, you can log in with your TV provider. And again, there's no like interface change or nothing. Like there's nothing to tell you that you've suddenly upgraded to this thing. It's just kind of like there's new options available to watch. It's yeah ESPN plus, plus w WWE is all it is. Like there's, there's no difference.
00:41:22
Speaker
It's not a good, it's just, it's exactly what you don't want, dude. The last thing you want with something this, especially nowadays, when you ask people spend their hard-earned money, like Sheena mentioned, you don't want confusion, right? Like, I want to, if I'm, you know, obviously we got it for free with our provider, but if I'm subscribing to this thing, when I log in, I want them rolling out the virtual red carpet. Yeah, dude, you paid 30 bucks, yeah. Hey, go ahead tell us, you know, okay, you like the Tennessee Vols, you like the Falcons, you like the Nebraska Courthouse, you like the Titans. can set background to, you know, your favorite sports team. Yeah, thank you, favorite sports. Okay, we're going to cater this stuff to you. Here's some suggestions, stuff to watch.
00:41:56
Speaker
Check out this thing coming out. But no, it's just nothing. So yeah, not to get too deep in the weeds shitting ESPN. But yeah, feel feel free in the listening mail. Let us know your experience if you guys went ahead and set up the app because it was just a very lackluster experience all the way around for me.
00:42:10
Speaker
Um, let's go to all out real quick. Uh, definitely a little bit quieter build than what we've seen for evolution. She's over here. Be a bad-ass show. I mean, AW, they just don't miss on pay-per-view.
00:42:21
Speaker
Uh, how we feeling about Kyle Fletcher and hang man for the AW world championship is, it's like it might be our main event at this point. I'm so happy. Kyle Fletcher is getting a main event title shot, dude.
00:42:32
Speaker
That to me, that dude has come so far in the last year. Like, uh, I don't know if you can find a more improved wrestler in the last year. Like, dude, he's ah granted. Do I think this stepped up is up his game in all facets, Like this, is this the biggest person hangman could be wrestling right now? No, but dude, this is like those things where having a one-off match is a good thing. Like you're getting Kyle Fletcher, some main event, um,
00:42:58
Speaker
you know experience and things like that. like Dude, it's good to see different people wrestling for the title. i mean Seriously, two months ago, if I told you Kyle Fletcher was a wrestling hangman for the title, you'd have been like, are you insane? but Dude, it's good to get people in the mid-card up on the main event roster. like This is one thing I feel like WWE does not do enough of. like Dude, elevate people. cause i mean We just talked about Cody. like What is Cody going to do right now? like He's pretty much ran through the entire main event scene and they have, they don't have a lot of mid card guys that are ready to be in the main event in WWE. And like, dude, this is how you elevate people. I like it a lot. Personally.
00:43:37
Speaker
Reminds me of survivor series 92, man. Bret Hart had just won the championship and his first defense was against internet continental champion, Sean Michaels, dude. And you know, Sean was obviously holding the mid card title. We hadn't seen him in the main event yet, but they went out and had a banger 20 minute match. And yeah, obviously Sean got the loss. i don't think anybody's expecting Kyle Fletcher win, but yeah, it still elevated them.
00:43:55
Speaker
Uh, And it was a hell of a match. So I think we're going to see something similar to that. um What do you guys think goes on last year? Do you think we get this world championship match that's got, I'd say, minimal suspense? Or do we get Jon Moxley and Darby Allin in the coffin match going last? That match has definitely had the longer build.
00:44:11
Speaker
don't know if you want to have Mox main eventing over your new champ. But to me, I don't know. I think I'm putting Mox and Darby in the main event.
00:44:20
Speaker
um No, I still think they put the the title match as the main event. Sheen? a Yeah, the title match has got go on last. If it's close, you go with the title. I think to me it's kind of a toss-up between those two for what's the biggest match on this show.
00:44:38
Speaker
I think if the tag match would have been for the titles, I think that would have went on last, honestly. Like Cope and Cage versus FTR, I think that would have went on last if it was for the titles. Yeah, I could see them doing mocks and Darby as the penultimate event, like that you know co like the second to last. yeah um But I think you've got to put the title on.
00:45:01
Speaker
That's going to be a tall order to follow that up, man. I'm sure mocks and Darby is going to Well, you know how does, dude? AEW, they put the freaking gas on, and they're at the end. Yeah. they don't they don't They don't care to blow you out. How about following the AEW Unified match that they're going to end doing? I mean, I think we're gonna get Okada, Takeshita, and whoever wins the other one, Dorada or Beast Mortals. Good luck following that match.
00:45:27
Speaker
Yeah, that should be sick, dude. It's going to be a good card. Yeah, the card is good. It's just the build. We got the show starting. This is the starting at, what, 2 o'clock now or 3 o'clock in the afternoon? I They moved it to, ah you know, not... They moved it to Wrestle Palooza. I'm just waiting for WWE to announce, like, NXT Fall Brawl or something for the afternoon. Dude, here's the thing, though. Like, and we talked about this before. Like, even if they did do that, like, I just feel like the people that I've already committed to watch All Out are watching it no matter what happens that afternoon. You know, it's just...
00:45:56
Speaker
Yeah, and the thing is, man, the WWE, you can always watch it afterwards. yeah You know what I mean? If you're spending $40 or whatever it is now for the show, like you're going to watch it live, dude, and watch it. Or you're just going a psycho like us and set up two TVs.
00:46:08
Speaker
That's really the move, man. will not be watching it because Nebraska plays Michigan at 2.30 that day, so At what point are you checking out on that game, dude? Or are you just there to the bitter end no matter what happens, dude? if it's Jordan likes to stew. he may They could be getting blown out. Nebraska's going to win that game. What do you mean checking out? I'm not checking out.
00:46:26
Speaker
If it goes sideways, dude, let's say Michigan's got a four-score lead. They're up by 28 points. At what point are you like, well, let me just clock out and see what's happening over with all elite wrestling? There's no days I clock out on Saturday football, brother.
00:46:39
Speaker
dude we we What if Nebraska's just smoking What they're up 40 points? Oh, even more reason for me to continue watching. Yeah, Jordan doesn't get those glimmers of glory very often. and No, Jordan's out. He's got a savory. No, Jordan has four months of football all year, and I'm not wasting one Saturday or Sunday doing anything else. So, like, I get it. like I tried to explain to Jordan last weekend that wrestling is superior to football, but he wasn't here. Never. Never.
00:47:10
Speaker
Um, you know, I, I don't follow football as closely as I used to, but dude, football is freaking awesome, dude. i mean, it is beautiful thing to watch. Uh, so when, thats time when, when have you ever seen a grown man cry because somebody makes a surprise return in a football game?
00:47:30
Speaker
I to be fair, I've never seen myself cry because a grown man right made a return. Outside of Bray Wyatt or Ultimate Warrior coming back to WWE, there ain't going to be no tears for me for someone returning.
00:47:41
Speaker
When have you ever seen โ€“ so the game's over, right? The teams are walking off the field. Everybody's celebrating. All of a sudden, some all-time great returns after like years away, dude, and a surprise. When has that ever I've clearly never seen Tommy Frazier walk on the field, โ€“ It's, a yeah, never happened. It's apples and oranges, pal. You can't relate. like I know T. Martin ain't quite getting your juices flowing the way Tommy Frazier does for me. No, all those guys are just walking out. I'm talking about somebody coming back and and making plays, making stuff happen, dude. When's the last time you saw like an old friend come back and help a team win at the last second? eight moment like there's just
00:48:16
Speaker
Wrestling, it's just better, man. There's so much more going on. I mean โ€“ But, I mean, to Jordan's point, dude, I mean, if you only had, like, if it was like a buildup and you're like, oh, shit, it's wrestling season, dude. Like, you know what i mean? Like, you only have this four months. And it's the best season of the year, dude. It's fall.
00:48:34
Speaker
it's It's like. But wrestling's an honor season. You have wrestling in fall. You got wrestling winter. You got wrestling spring. Exactly. so There's only one belt in football, dude. Wrestling, there's more. You can't be the Intercontinental Champion in football. There's only one world champ. There's no midcard, dude.
00:48:45
Speaker
It's all. it's you You're on top of the main event or you're a loser. I mean, that kind of makes it better, right? well we get the ask yeah what What are we doing? Handing out second place ribbons now, Seth? I thought you were against all this. Like, why do we need 10 different medals? Participation We're getting participation trophies now? not a I mean, it is. here you guys Hey, if you ain't first, you're last, buddy.
00:49:06
Speaker
But you are first. You're first to Aircontinental Division. Which is lesser than the world champion. So, like, what? Do you want them to do, like, a second-tier playoff in college football? wall's the freaking practice squad. I would say the NBA has the midseason championship now. Yeah, but nobody cares about that either. That's just a money thing is all that is. Nobody gives a shit about who wins or loses that.
00:49:25
Speaker
We need to get the listeners. Hold on, hold on, hold on. If the Cavs are to win a midseason championship, I still will not give zero shits about it. like That's not moving the needle at all for me. You're not live tweeting if the Cavs are in the finals. He's going to live tweet it, but it's not in the air. No, no, no, no, no. You can ask Seth, or you guys can look at my Twitter right now. I do not live tweet sports at all anymore because I really feel like it was dampening my enjoyment of the game. Yeah.
00:49:52
Speaker
i told wasn't no no I told Seth, and I texted him last week, I did not get mad at the end of the Falcons game or anything. Like, I've decided this going to be the year that I just, like, watch football, and I enjoy it for what it

Fantasy Football: Preferences and Challenges

00:50:04
Speaker
is.
00:50:04
Speaker
And look, the Huskers already had, like, a 1990s blowout win. Like, when was the last time I could ever say that? Exactly, 1990. And that was the last time I enjoyed it. It was... When I was a kid. I mean if you're i mean that that mean, I think that's a key with anything. If you're really trying to enjoy something, staying off social media is definitely the way to do it. Social media is just absolutely awful, too. I mean, the last like yeah two weeks not being on there during football has made my experience 100 times better. It's just...
00:50:32
Speaker
Dude, social media is awful. That was always such a joy on Sundays when we see the Falcons blowing the other one. I tell Sheena, pull up Jordan's Twitter. Just read his last five or six tweets. We would read last five six tweets.
00:50:43
Speaker
and You see the self-destruction of a man. And, you well, the beautiful thing about Jordan's tweets that made them just so funny for me and Seth is that, you know, one, he's live tweeting every freaking play, right? And then two, there was never any hashtags.
00:50:55
Speaker
Never any context. You know what i mean? So you wouldn't if you didn't know, if I didn't know Jordan was watching the Falcons games, I wouldn't know what the hell he was talking about. He would like, gosh dang it. Except he would say you know the other, ah you know stupid. when Remember, Seth, when you were gassing me about like not taking Sam LaPorter and I was like, I don't think there there's a huge drop off after two.
00:51:18
Speaker
Did you see my tight end just get touchdown? I did. That was a nice one, man. That was a nice one, man. I wasn't gassed too bad. was told you was worried you was take him, dude. This is why. Yeah. All right. Yeah, we're actually, we're also watching the, uh, the commander's package. Yeah, sorry. We, we got off, we got off on a whole freaking tangent. Yeah, if we're going to talk to going to bring up. live for the sidebars, man. Uh, we were going to review Elite 120 and the Cody Rhodes exclusive, but we're running short on time. We got some antsy kids.
00:51:46
Speaker
Uh, Sheen, thoughts on Cody and the Pharaoh articulated elite figure? I mean, the Cody with the fly. In the box, this Cody is awesome. This would be beautiful to get signed. Yeah, I mean, we have some awesome Cody figures, so it's not like this is just like, holy crap, this is the best Cody figure ever made. MLC, I think it might be best. The MOC is awesome with the flag and the freaking, yeah. And you have Pharaoh, dude, articulated Pharaoh. Like what the heck, dude. And Pharaoh's got an alternate head scan. If I was an autographed guy, this would be the Cody to get autographed. Yeah. What if you could get Pharaoh to like put his little paw print? No, I was thinking like his nose print. Yeah, do like a little snoot on there. Oh God, that would be the best.
00:52:24
Speaker
I don't if you're oh my god in the game or if you're oh my god in the snoots thing. You're telling me, Jordan, you wouldn't think that was cool if I got this signed by Cody and got Pharaoh to boop his snoots. No, because I already know what that would cost you to do and I just would be embarrassed for you if you That would be a cool piece though, dude. That would be a cool piece. Paw print and the boop the snoots, dude. Yeah. I think a paw print would be more humane. I wouldn't want poor Pharaoh booping his little snoot like a hundred And a paw print would be clean. Who knows what the boop the snoots would actually look like.
00:52:59
Speaker
i obviously I've seen some snoots boops, so I know what they look like. they um But ah yeah, I think the the paw print would be money, dude. But yeah, this is a this is a stellar ah ringside exclusive for sure. And then what's your standout of Elite Woods winning? The standout's definitely Joe Gacy for me. um You know, we got Roman Reigns in this set. We got suited up Cody Rhodes, L.A. Knight. We got Lola Lola Vice, first time in the line. Yeah, the Joe Gacy's great. I can't wait to get the rest of the... These Wyatt Six figures are going to be so...
00:53:28
Speaker
awesome we got dexter luma so far joe gacy we're getting ultimate edition oklahoma in the next one and then we're getting ah eric rowan and nikki in that yeah i don't even hate the soft goods on this i love that yeah i love the pig mask um the scan is awesome the makeup's awesome so can't we just have the whole set yeah the whole set it's gonna be awesome so very very cool uh sheena we got listener mail of course all right
00:54:01
Speaker
want to remind you guys real quick before she gets into the mailbag, use code CHEKFOLLY to save 10% on those figures over at ringside. um Our buddy, the OG Fig Kid, Tom Montalto, He says, how is Seth not in the Chick-fil-A fantasy football league? What happened? I don't love fantasy football, man. To be honest, I i wouldn't go as far as don't like it. in It's just a habit. The the league we're in, we've talked about it before.
00:54:25
Speaker
We've been in it. It started in 2006. It's actually our 20th year, which pretty dang impressive. Jordan was the last new member to be added. and Did you come in 13 or 14, Jordan? I can't remember, dude. Or was it 12? It was 2012. It was somewhere around there, yeah.
00:54:41
Speaker
It was, yeah, 12, 13. Either way, it's been 10 years since we've had a new member, dude. Really, out of the original 12, nine of us are still there. Yeah, we had to kick one person out because of a divorce. We had a family member through marriage, divorce, got kicked out.
00:54:54
Speaker
And then two other people, just various reasons, got kicked out. But anyways, yeah, at the original 12, nine people are there. And it's been so locked down that, yeah, it's been since 2014. People just don't leave this league. It's the rare league where nobody checks out, man. even, even when people's seasons go down the shitter, like everybody's still setting their lineup, keeping the competitive integrity and stuff going. And there's just so much like built up history. You know what I mean? I keep a document going with all playoffs. always remind people like, all right, you know, Hey, this is the first time this guy's made the playoffs since 2020 and just little stuff like if you run a fantasy football league, little stuff like that really adds a lot. And it may not seem like a lot now because we have that does all this for us. But before that was even a thing,
00:55:33
Speaker
Seth used to do write-up for his fantasy. I would write a weekly roundup. roundup and a preview of games. Yeah, weekly roundup and then a preview of the next week's games and the matchups and everything. It was a different lifetime ago. I got to sneak time just to set my line and look for potential trades. Yeah, he literally had to meet us at football practice tonight because he wasn't going to be home in time to ride with us to football practice. Yeah.
00:55:56
Speaker
um Yeah, so, ah I mean, when but I thought you used to love fantasy football. No, so, dude, I still like it a lot, man, but it's just... ah i don't know. I just... I kind of like just turn in and watch the games, dude. I still... You like fantasy wrestling better now. Yeah. Yeah. yeah The... No, I don't know. I don't know what I mean. Honestly, dude, I really feel like... fan and Jordan, feel free to chime in on this, dude.
00:56:21
Speaker
I feel like over the last... like It's not even super recent, man. It's really over the last 10, almost even 15 years now, dude. It's become so much more of a crapshoot playing fantasy football, dude. Back yeah you know back in that the heyday, man, when I was really loving it, like 06 to 11, dude, every team had two, sometimes three receivers and had like one running back, dude. It was rare a team had like two running backs, and it was rare that they had more three guys. It used to be tight ends. It really meant something if you got like the first two picks in the draft. Yeah, you used to have a dozen plus tight ends in the league could draft, dude.
00:56:51
Speaker
And now everybody's so specialized. Teams spread the ball around so much more that โ€“ you know there's maybe five or six running backs that you can put in your lineup every week and know this dude's going off there's maybe five or six receivers you yeah those dudes going off like I just feel like it's I feel like it's become much more of a roll of the dice and there's still different ways to succeed obviously but I just feel like it's uh I don't know it's it's just I I feel like i I feel like I'm throwing darts a lot more nowadays man uh how about you George how was your love for fantasy football evolved over the years Oh, I mean, I still love it a lot. Like, I just... There's just so many more, like, advanced metrics and stats now and stuff. And, like, they break down everybody's schedule and stuff for the season. Like, I just... I love fantasy football, so I'll never get tired of it. But...
00:57:33
Speaker
I mean, dude, it it is a lot of work. Like you got to be paying attention, especially when you're playing for money, which I mean, that's the way I prefer to play is for money. So you really have to be paying attention to when people get hurt and things like that. So it is a lot of work, but I still love doing it.
00:57:49
Speaker
Even when I loved it the most, I always just did one team also. That was my other thing, man. like i'll get i've gotten I'll get drugged into work leagues sometimes, but always like having one team because I don't want ever like be in a situation where like it's all a wash. You know what and i mean? That's another part of it. like So that's another reason like even if I was still as into it as I used to be, I still probably wouldn't do it because I like just having one team and that's who root for. I feel like it becomes washed out when it's like โ€“ You're watching her game, you're like, all right, this was good for you know this league, but I just fucked myself in this other league. yeah so That's how I always was. I always had one team.
00:58:19
Speaker
um you know every Like you said, every once in a while, I would get in somebody else's league. But when I was a commissioner in my own league, i ah that was the team I rooted for, and that's the team I put all my energy into. But, yeah, it's a lot now, dude.
00:58:32
Speaker
I don't play anymore, but what? Good work. What are you pointing at? Nothing. Okay. All right. um Anyway, ah Seth was pointing at something and i I obviously didn't understand what he

Wrestling Indifference and Spooky Season Films

00:58:45
Speaker
was doing. and Johnny JB. I've not been watching wrestling lately. Just haven't had the time. AJ Lee's return doesn't mean a thing to me because I wasn't watching during her time. How do you feel about it? We already talked about that, but yeah, clearly Johnny JB is a...
00:58:57
Speaker
You know, not excited about AJ Laker's return, but it's cool. Now you know, now you know why it's cool. um Tony Barker, what's the next scary movie you guys are watching for spooky season? And what was the last one you viewed?
00:59:10
Speaker
So we talked about the last one. I think we're going to go with the Scream 2 for our next, our next viewing. Seth usually gives me a list of six. ah You know, after we watch our ones, he'll, he'll cook up another list of six and then um we will pick from there. Jordan, what, what scary movies are on your list for this?
00:59:27
Speaker
um Spooky season. We haven't put together ah a list yet. There's a ton that we want to watch. like HBO Max has a ton of scary movies on it that we want to watch. We want to watch... ah Zoe wants to watch Death by a Unicorn. i don't know if that's... Wow.
00:59:41
Speaker
i Have you seen like the previews for it or anything? Uh-uh. It's with Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. Really? really is it a horror comedy? Yeah, I think it's like a horror comedy, but zo so wants so thats how Zoe's really into scary movies now. um She watched Conjuring in her room the other night by herself, and I was like, oh god who i was like see I want to go back and watch all the new... Because the new Conjuring, apparently it's got like, you know, made like a bajillion dollars. So I want to go back and re-watch the Conjuring series. When she said she was going to watch that, because i I mean, I've seen it, so i'm I'm not worried about it or anything. I mean, it's not like...
01:00:16
Speaker
The only thing we really worried about, obviously, is nudity or sex. Like, I'm not wanting to watch one of those movies. But, like, if it's just gore, like, she's seen it already. But that one, when she said she was going to watch it, I was like, oh God, I don't know if this is a good idea. Paranormal stuff always hits different. You know what I mean? Because, like, I feel like there's a level of, like, suspension of disbelief when you're, like, getting chased by Jason or, like, you know, something crazy like that. Ghosts can always show Dude, ghosts, there's no escaping ghosts, dude. Like, you know, paranormal shit, it's going with you. Wherever you are, it's going with you. And, um... Yeah, that that kind of stuff gets to me um more than just like the the slasher gore fests.
01:00:51
Speaker
Hey, did you see Weapons yet, Jordan? have not seen it yet. We are going to watch it, though. And then ah we're going to watch the new Final Destination movie as well, because I always enjoyed those movies. I seen that yet. Me too. we what We watched that one not too long ago. Yeah, we watched that one. I think that Bloodlines, I think it actually really good reviews. It did, yeah. It got really good reviews. And then we always watch all the Rob Zombie movies, obviously, during Halloween.
01:01:13
Speaker
Yeah, it's been a while. We haven't watched ah The Devil's Rejects or House of a Thousand Corpses recently. To me, dude, I love the movie. It's one of my favorite movies. I don't even consider or Devil's Reject a horror movie, though. That's more like a true crime movie. It's just a gore movie is all is. Yeah.
01:01:26
Speaker
But I mean, be fair- House a Thousand Corpses is a great horror movie, but yeah, the other one, I feel like Devil's Reject- It's a sequel, but it's like a completely different style movie, dude. well yeah that's the two the two they're two totally different styles for sure um there's definitely two different styles of horror movies now like there's the gore movies which a lot of people are into i mean saw made that really popular obviously and then there's just your straight up horror movies like i like both sets of movies like i like gore movies we loved seeing all the saw movies we saw all those in the theater so i love those i saw Back in the day, I had a lot more stomach for that kind of stuff. I don't really get into the torture porn stuff as much anymore. like it like Just straight up gore. like
01:02:03
Speaker
I've never seen any of the terrifiers and I like i want to, but it's like almost I'm just like... Those movies. If like Saw turns your stomach, those movies are really going something you. That's what i'm thinking. So I'm just kind of like, and maybe maybe I'm out on that. you know And I used to like that kind of stuff, like Hostel and... you know um What was the other one? There was another one that was similar to that. Home Alone.
01:02:24
Speaker
saw home yeah Home Alone the classic known as Home Alone. Art the Clown is an incredible character though like I think that's the one of the main reasons people love that movie. Yeah I'm very intrigued by the character because I see him all the time and I saw him doing like the opening of like Halloween Horror Nights and stuff um but yeah I can just see it just being like straight up gore fest. Did you watch Fear Street Jordan?
01:02:48
Speaker
No we have not watched those. That's on the list for this year. That was really good. I really, really enjoyed the Fear Street series. um I heard the latest one, like Prom Queen sucks, but the first three are really, really good.
01:02:59
Speaker
Yeah. they Oh, they made a new, another one. Yeah. The ones that just got like the, they just got years for the titles. Yeah. Yeah. The first three that we watched last year, they were, they were really, really good. So highly, highly recommend putting those on your, your spooky season viewing list.
01:03:12
Speaker
And then we got to watch Wednesday. Of course, we're watching Wednesday. And wasn't there another series that came out? And we get in October, we get Welcome to Derry, too, on HBO. We get Welcome to Derry. Dude, they're releasing that like five days before Halloween, though. What a miss.
01:03:25
Speaker
I know. That was kind of a bummer. I was hoping. I mean, i I can see waiting till October. But like, why like October twenty this you know what I mean? like That's crazy. Because i it just seems that seems like an October 1st release would be a perfect time for that.
01:03:41
Speaker
exactly i mean i guess if you're just gonna they're just gonna drop them all and you can just binge it but at the same time like yeah i would have preferred it to be like the beginning of october yeah but yeah i still haven't seen an episode of wednesday the girls both love it but i've never seen it it's good man wednesday is really good i'm hoping the second season i'm hoping the second season holds up um but uh yeah it's good stuff Uh, Phil Dunnett.
01:04:04
Speaker
Oh, we told Phil Dunnett he couldn't ask it. Cause I said, you could ask any question. And our poor Phil from across the pond, uh, he said, uh, he's getting a bit of a reputation, so he's not going to ask a question this week. Uh, Tyson Neal Trevino, did you see AJ and Becky having a match for the women's IC championship down the line? Or do you see and Becky? Yeah, think that's next step, dude. Whatever comes after Russell Palooza, I think that's happening.
01:04:25
Speaker
ye Maybe Survivor Series is going to be in San Diego. We know AJ Leach from Cali. Maybe that's when we see her first sandy her singles match. Yeah. Sam Bro says, uh, he's really sad. And, uh, you know, having a really sad week.

Social Media's Impact on Enjoyment and Mental Health

01:04:40
Speaker
You know, it's kind of been a heavy, heavy news week this week. Uh, so what are some ways that you guys stay positive? He's playing with my daughters always fixes things for me.
01:04:47
Speaker
Everyone be safe out there. You know, the thing i would recommend for everybody to stay positive is to log off social media, dude, just get off there. I, I shut down my social media yesterday. I was like, I was just feeling really shitty yesterday. and I was like, you know what, you know what, the best thing I can do for myself is just delete Instagram and Facebook.
01:05:05
Speaker
off of my phone. So I don't even check in to either of those places. And i had a great rest of the day. You know what i mean? Like it just totally not not being exposed to a lot of that stuff. I mean, obviously, there's other things you can do to be happy and you know, take care of yourself. But I think the first step is just not allowing yourself to get into a ah doom scroll, you know, ah because it's super easy. And you know, the sad thing is, is that now,
01:05:29
Speaker
I think it's like something like 70% of interactions on social media are like bots. So like you're seeing all this stuff and you're seeing all these comments and stuff, and it's not even real people that are making these comments. Right. So you're getting yourself worked up into a frenzy thinking like humanity is just absolute trash and garbage when it's just literally bots out there, you know, used to create a device of content.
01:05:54
Speaker
You're literally arguing with AI, um which is pretty f freaking scary. And I won't even get on my soapbox about all of that. But, um you know, so again, if you're feeling down in the dumps, I would highly recommend just taking a a social media hiatus.
01:06:08
Speaker
I liked the AI better when it was Allen Iverson. Exactly. Yeah, same. Samesies. All right. ah Zach Herzler, any random match or pay-per-view recommendations? to send it over to our WWE historian. already mentioned I'll Survivor Series 92, man. It's a fun show, dude. Bret Hart's second ever pay-per-view main event. First time defending the world championship. You also have a really fun Razor Ramon and Ric Flair versus Macho Man and Mr. Perfect match so I would watch that show and then I would listen to The Perfect Friend by Macho Man to put a little bow on it man so yeah I'll go Survivor Series 1992 Jordan you got a recommendation? I mean start watching Halloween Havocs now like dude still yeah still nothing better than those entrances at Halloween Havoc like dude it'll never top that i know they they've reincarnated in NXT but it ain't touching WCW it's not the same dude
01:06:59
Speaker
Yeah, the the the vibes in WCW were just on point. It was vintage Halloween. That one year they actually did it as a PLE. I think it was 2022. They actually did it as a full PLE. That was pretty damn good, man. out They had like the match with Chucky.
01:07:12
Speaker
Yeah, then they had the wheel, too. They brought back the wheel a couple times. But every other year since then, they've just made it like a big, super-sized TV episode. It just ain't the same, bro. give it yeah The one year they gave it the full pay-per-view treatment, it was pretty dang fun. Yeah.
01:07:25
