Introduction and Listener Welcome

00:00:08
Speaker
Hey, everybody. Welcome back. It is the fans here again. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glauber. Welcome into the fans. Let's get a crack in with this. I got another beer I'm drinking. I'm still on my first beer, but that's all right. It's a doozy. Nobody will hold it against you. Maybe, but you know.
00:00:25
Speaker
I've had worse things held against me. Probably.

TRM Upgrades and Success Stories

00:00:29
Speaker
Make sure that you are grabbing your TRM upgrades, guys, because we are back on it. I know we're going to take a break for Champions Cup after this, but it's back in full swing when there won't be a three, four week break like there was.
00:00:41
Speaker
um this fall anytime soon again so apart from the end of the season um so yeah grab those things and then obviously patreon patreon patreon it's on ben's page it's on my page it's in the show notes
00:00:57
Speaker
Get on it. Get on it. It's good advice. We have pretty good proof that it's functional. Actually, we talk about Duncan and his shoots up the ladder. I think there's pretty good evidence of at least three of us doing really, really well.
00:01:22
Speaker
So yeah, I mean, I started off the year pretty poorly and I've climbed up since so right. Yeah, there's that. And Alex, who's the first timer in TRM is loving it. So yeah, yeah, as far as I know. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I think he I think actually both he and Duncan are ahead of me right now.
00:01:41
Speaker
How about that? There you go. So it is. Yeah. Maybe I'm too close to it. I don't know. And they're seeing, they're a little bit further away from it and they're seeing it from a different angle and getting better at more of it than I am. But gosh, darn it. It doesn't piss me off at all. No, what are you talking about? Shut up.

FRW and Champions Cup Decisions

00:01:57
Speaker
Um, we, we will not be doing FRW for champions cup for those that are wondering just, yeah, there's something up with this format that I'm not really into. And I'm not saying that cause I'm getting shit tonked. I'm saying that because.
00:02:10
Speaker
Like this is, this feels like old school ESPN six nations fancy. That's what it feels like. And I'm super try heavy. I'm doing well. And I don't like it. So yeah, it's because, okay. I'll, I don't want to know. I'm not going to give it away. I'll wait till the end of the season. Don't give anything away. So that's how we know we raised you right.
00:02:36
Speaker
Sorry, there's too many people in the league who listen to this pod. So, no. Oh, yeah. Also that. There's that, too. There's that, too. OK, let's look at, let's be in the league.

Fantasy Rugby League Updates and Challenges

00:02:52
Speaker
Shaper Gangs League Division 1. Duncan had a massive week. He finished second overall in the weekly scoreings, which is absolutely fantastic. So well done to you, Duncan.
00:03:03
Speaker
Uh, Ben sitting in second, as he, as he has been the last couple of weeks, uh, Carrick has jumped Justin. So he is now in third and had a poor week. Yeah. He had the worst. You're the worst week in the league. Well, yeah, it was not. Oh, he had. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm sorry. Okay. Well, you had Hoskins. Oops. Yeah. I had Vincent cock was, Oh, we had lawnsdale and that got subbed. Oh, fuck it up.
00:03:33
Speaker
He had to have Earl. Yeah. Oh, that's right. Because Earl was on his bench. That's what happened. But like, Fafita only hit 21. Willis only hit 19. He captained Sam Simmons who only hit 26. Like, none of his players, even Danny, you know, his tire scoring players outside of Cocker was Ezekiel and care with 28. You know, Chuck only got him 10. Like, who the fuck thinks you're going to have something good? You're going to have 22 points between Pietal and Green. You should be getting that from each of them.
00:04:03
Speaker
Oh, right. No, no joke. Yeah, it's just unlucky. I want to give you a hug. Sorry, friends. That sucks. I hate being there. I hate it when every one of your players just you have to sit there and watch the bit for that week. Yeah, every single player. So
00:04:24
Speaker
So Justin's down fourth. I jumped to the fifth. I've jumped George. Yeah. So George is down six mark. Oh, George also had a similar kind of thing going on. Yeah, not a great one either. Marks and seventh and Anton still holding up the bottle bottom, although he got a little bit better this week. But yeah, so I got, unfortunately, I have a long way to go to test Justin if I want to do any of that. I got 200 point gap there.
00:04:51
Speaker
Right. That's a, that's a size. And then there's another 200 point gap between over two. Oh my wow. 250. Yeah. So it'll be a bit, it'll be a bit, if I get, if I move up again, but Hey, as long as I can stay a little bit higher than the rest, right. Call it a day. I need to start having good weeks soon. Cause I need to get, you know, I'm glad, you know, I, I, I talked about it earlier that I needed a rabbit last year. I had Anton to chase.
00:05:16
Speaker
Um, now I have Duncan who I'm directly giving advice on how to be. Way to go. You idiot. Oh, wait, I'm helping. Um, in division two, uh, Frank Franco has jumped to the top of the league and Cobas has now come down to two, uh, followed by John. John had a bad week as well. I think he had just about the same type of week as, um, as Justin did. Yuck. Um, our old friend, Terry.
00:05:42
Speaker
Liano is in fifth, Bob's in sixth, Yuri's in seventh, and fellow American Larry is in eighth. Oops. Oops a daisy, oops a daisy. I can tell you that for FRW, it went pretty awry for me.

FRW App Limitations

00:06:00
Speaker
That's what else I don't like about FRW is that it's only on mobile.
00:06:05
Speaker
Yeah, you really need an I really need an app for this, but I really need to have the desktop for this biatch. Yeah, because as far as it is, not right. As far as it might be, I want to Yeah, no. So anyway, last week,
00:06:22
Speaker
Ben was able to be Anton. Like I said, I lost to George quite handily. Mark lost to Duncan and Justin. The only person I would have beaten would have been Carrick and he wasn't playing me this week. Oopsie. We got one more week of prem action. Like I said, I've got Anton. You're on to Mark. George is into Justin and then Carrick and Duncan do battle.
00:06:51
Speaker
Oh, Mark and I are playing for for third seed so far if I if I can win I put some serious distance between him and myself so I hope I can do that. I gotta catch up to Duncan and George up there. Right. Get back here. Get back here.
00:07:11
Speaker
I said we won't do this. I think we'll do the Superbrew for Champions Cup, which is similar to I think that's now the default game for the European site instead of their own. So and that's a good format from what I've been very interested in seeing it. So this will be a good chance to try it out.

Fantasy Rugby Match Previews: Gloucester to Bath

00:07:30
Speaker
I agree. Away we go. I've heard good things. Same. So away we go. We'll probably dig into that. In the meantime,
00:07:41
Speaker
We got start set. You start us off. I do. Okay. Um, the, my, my battle of the side pieces, the battle for my, yes, my side pieces, um, Gloucester hosting Bristol. Um, from a Fannie fantasy perspective, they're two really kind of lower tier defenses. Bristol are seven, so they're kind of mid range, but, um, Gloucester a 10th.
00:08:08
Speaker
They're also against two low mid-tier attacks, plus our seventh Bristol or our eighth. So it's game doesn't give something. Yeah, something's got to give. Who the fuck knows? Bristol strong in defense against hookers. Their first, they shut down hookers. Locks, flankers and scrum halves. Their third overall against each of those. They're weak against eighth.
00:08:32
Speaker
uh, their 11th fly halves, their last centers, their ninth wings, their 12th and full backs, their 13th. Um, so pretty kind of shit. So for Gloucester, uh, Val repover Ruskin is an excellent opportunity here. Um, Freddie Clark makes tackles and that makes them valuable. So I kind of don't even know, um,
00:08:55
Speaker
Bristol are third against Locks. He should still be kind of an outlier there with just making tackles. I like Ben Morgan if he's at eight. Adam Hastings is the quality opportunity here. Harris and Louis Reesamit, Moyle or Carreras, I would think are likely at 15. Davidson is a pretty decent option for the bench, especially for his
00:09:19
Speaker
for his money. Yeah. Yeah. Like I put him on my bench and it's like, okay, that's pretty much a guaranteed like at least seven or eight points when he's starting up to, you know, over 10. And it's like, that's pretty good for that kind of money. Just, you know, having him there, but you're not going to start him.
00:09:37
Speaker
Um, may this week stash him on the bench too. If you've got him, he's again, he may get, he's unlikely to go off, but he could still get you some points. Maybe, um, he scored a try last week and only had 10 points total. So yellow cards do that. Yeah. Um,
00:09:54
Speaker
Sit Singleton, Clement, Ludlow, and Meehan because they're bad matchups. On the Bristol side, Gloucester are strong against centers and wings. They're fourth and third. They're weak against props, locks, scrum halves, and fly halves. 10, 11, 13, and 11 there.
00:10:12
Speaker
So all the hookers for Bristol, whoever is playing hook, good to go. Sinclair is an easy start. Whoever's at lock is a good option. I'd avoid six, seven, eight this week. Start whoever's at nine and even the backup could be bench worthy or even a start and a tough bind. And Callum Sheedy. I'm really not excited about anyone outside of 10 for Bristol right now. So they're in kind of sale territory for me.
00:10:42
Speaker
No man's land. Yeah. Until Red Roger gets back. I'm not even really a fan of Pietal right now. He's not really good at opportunities. I am a fan of Pietal, but not with that. Not with that. I agree. All right. Let's go over to exiles in Newcastle.
00:11:04
Speaker
for London Irish, Tom Pearson, London Irish young open side scored well in two or three starts. He's only 123 on TRM and Newcastle are 10th versus out and out flankers. So he's a he's a play in my book if you got him and if you don't if you need a flanker, that's a cheap good one right there.
00:11:21
Speaker
Newcastle bottom of the barrel against midfielders, so step right up Curtis Rona, Terrence Hepatima, and B. J.B. Bernhard, I can't even, you know, Bernhard, I'll call him that, geez, I'm sorry, fuck it up too much more. Oddly enough, it's the 12s that usually score well against the Falcons, so either Hepatima or Bernhard.
00:11:40
Speaker
They're going to be the ones that you want to play, which is weird, but I would still play run, and it's fine too. Newcastle are second against Locks, and of the two Wallabies that are usually sporting in the interim, I'd bench Coleman. He's been the slightly less reliable of the two, although I think he's also the cheaper of the two, which is unfortunate, but CLV.
00:12:01
Speaker
Um, Newcastle, uh, Callum chick returned from England camp back on the mission. Um, he's not as highly, highly owned as I thought it would be, but again, you got a lot of flanker eight man options out there. So I do understand that in a way, but he's good. Um, one and Irish are bottom three against flankers and eights. So it doesn't matter where he plays in the back row. He's good. He's a good play there. Um,
00:12:21
Speaker
Trevor Davidson, uh, exiles are bottom against props and he's probably the best one that the, um, the Falcons have. Um, he's also recently returned from England duty. So should be fairly buoyed from that too. He's also scored well in two of his last three starts. So as that as well.
00:12:37
Speaker
Exiles aren't particularly tough against any single position, but that does not mean that I want anybody to go starting Falcons willy-nilly. The TRM percent selection tells me everyone's kind of got the gist of this and they at least know who the good players are and are avoiding the bad ones for the most part. There are some good ones that are low, but
00:12:55
Speaker
That's good. The one guy that I think is the exception to that is Mike Brown. He's 4% known, which isn't quite the threshold I usually look for, but he's not been great since and he's in need to see a territory right now. So it's the one player I can advise against that I would not play definitively for Newcastle. OK, over to North Hampton versus Bath. You sure it's not Newcastle?
00:13:22
Speaker
Uh, pretty sure. Okay. Just me. Okay. Cool. Um, I actually like this matchup a lot better. I was going to do a new castle bath. Oh, that's going to suck. Um, no Northampton bath. I like that a lot better. Um, North, Northampton are, uh, third overall defense bathroom. Number six, uh, the saints are the sixth in its overall attack and 13th out of the bath are 13th and attacking points. So, um,
00:13:50
Speaker
Yeah, we're looking at a six versus six offense versus defense Saints attack back defense and then we're looking at a 13 and attack versus three defense overall so I think you can see where this is going. Bathurst are actually strong against flankers and their number one overall against from haves and fullbacks and this match I.
00:14:10
Speaker
do not respect that. We'll get that right out. They're weak against hookers. Oh, yummy. They're the last in the league against hookers. 9th against Locks, 12th against 8ths, and 10th against Flyhaves. Not that the Saints have decent scoring players at any of those positions. Oh wait, Sam Medivacy at Hooker, yes.
00:14:31
Speaker
Dave ribbons at luck. Yup. Augustus, you fucking bet. Mitchell is not only matchup proof, but he should actually do really well against this bath team. Either 10, your full go, which is why I'm wondering if they give bigger arrest for this one because they don't really need him. Maybe not that I'm hoping that one of my players actually gets to play this week.
00:14:56
Speaker
Where was I? Dingwall is, I think, the best option in the centers. The back three against, except Skozan. He seems to kind of be boomer bust, but Freeman and Furbank are yes, please. Thank you. On the bath side, Bath only have five players who are averaging over 20 points per start. And that's Stewart, Fox, Underhill, Boyce, and Bayless.
00:15:21
Speaker
Of those, maybe Ollie Fox and maybe Underhill this week. It seems it could be another good week to skip done. And Stuart, although he's scoring well, the Saints are number one against props, so. I mean against props. There you go. Oh, no, the hookers there. Where was it? Oh, no, they're not really ranked that high. But either way, Dunn has not been scoring well. Oh, we're talking about Stuart. Yeah, Stuart, they're number one against props. So sit, Stuart. Have a pine, big guy.
00:15:51
Speaker
All right, we'll see you in WOS.
00:15:54
Speaker
Niall Annette, a definite play this week if he starts. Wasser second to last against Lutz. He's good when he starts. He's definitely their best in terms of the fantasy score. Also, Duhan, he started to come good in the last few weeks. Wasser third to last against winger. So get him in there. Do it. On the other side of the coin for the Warriors, Ethan Waller, still highly owned, but far from where he was last year in terms of his production. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Boot him.
00:16:23
Speaker
That's a guy you can drop and you'll get some decent coin back. There's a lot of props who are not in too much different territory than him right now. As far as cost is concerned, you can easily swap him out for somebody good. Yeah, I trade him out for a couple of guys, I think, if I remember right. That was when he was near one of his peaks.
00:16:48
Speaker
Thank you. Thank you for the was Alfie. Barbary. If you missed his impact late last week. Well, I'd say he's back and he's ready to return to his pre-injury form. He's a play if he's in QE out there. Yeah, right. Like we were watching that match with my kids and they're like, who is that? I was just like, Oh,

Match Insights: Worcester to Saracens

00:17:11
Speaker
fucking small gorilla out there. Like, well, it's, yeah, like I was again, watching it with my wife and they kept mentioning him. Like he was, you know, like they kept referencing that he was going to be, he was out there and she's like, who, what the fuck? I'm like, you've seen him. Like you'll remember. And then she, like they, they did this the same. We did this before. Cause I think it was last season when they did the same thing before.
00:17:32
Speaker
And then he comes on and just wrecks shop and it's like, Oh, that's why they're talking about him. Cause he's fucking. Okay. He's, he's quite good. Yeah. He'll be, he'll be good. Once he, once he's in a position of 60 minutes or more. Right. If he's starting this week, I'm bringing him on my team. That's like a must add this week. Yeah. He's, he's versatile too. He's in he's hooker flanking eight. Right.
00:17:56
Speaker
That's so helpful to have that kind of versatility. And I have O-Gray, too. And, yeah. Trade him out, I think, honestly. Possibly. I don't know. Yeah, maybe. Will Porter to the nine at the moment, probably for Was, with potentially two injuries in those ranks, big ones at that. Beforedwell in the start, so give him a go this week if you need a nine and he's really cheap. So give that one a consideration, especially for a few people that are probably looking at, like, ooh, tough matchups here and there.
00:18:25
Speaker
The one place Worcester have avoided big numbers in fantasy is the fullback. A couple early 20s early on and that's it. If the wasp fullback is a Nazi, I'd say that trend continues. He's not particularly productive. If it's Crossdale, that could be a different story. So just keep an eye on which one place fullback there.
00:18:45
Speaker
So, oh, I wanted to ask you a question, though, about one of the WASPs players. Some we haven't mentioned on the pod yet at all, and that's actually unfair based on how he's playing. What do you think of Robin Hislop? Bombers, he's a nightmare in a lot of ways because he's fairly cheap, which makes you go, ooh, and then
00:19:06
Speaker
Number one, well, right now they don't have any option other than play them. So that's the upside. He's probably playing. So that's the good thing. But, you know, and his production is not awful. Was he on for points per 80? His projections are always terrible. That's not too bad. He's only got two games above 20.
00:19:34
Speaker
And coincidentally, two of those are for the games that are 60 and beyond. So it helps when he goes more. Right.
00:19:45
Speaker
Yeah, last week you went 69 and you got only got 19 points. Yeah. Well, I just think, and maybe I'm thinking of also, cause I didn't realize he was actually that high scoring. Yeah, you're right. He's only got the two games over 20 hit 19 this past week. That's not great numbers, but I guess it's seven. So it's, you could do worse in terms of, I mean, he's doing a lot better than Ethan, Ethan Waller. And he's like, Oh yeah, no shit.
00:20:07
Speaker
Yeah, I was just looking it up and Ethan Waller is 232. The number one scoring prop in the prem is Olly Hoskins. You get so much he costs.
00:20:18
Speaker
He's like two on the nose almost, isn't he? Two thirty three. Oh, he's two three three. He's one K more than Ethan Waller. Yeah. And then looking at that in your locker probably somewhere. And then JTA at two fourteen. Like, yeah, he was a great grab when I was like, wow, he's a great guy. I'm doing that. Right. And even the other Waller who's scoring pretty well is a two thirty three. So, yeah, which is amazing. Waller on your team. Get him the fuck off. You get the wrong Waller, man. Right. You got the wrong one.
00:20:49
Speaker
I think, yeah, you're up. I'm up with Exeter hosting Saracens. This fucking is blowing my mind right now. Fantasy defenses. Guess where Exeter are overall? Way down. They're 12th. Right.
00:21:07
Speaker
that they've been, they've been top three the past three seasons. They've been, do not start people against Exeter. Now, not so much. Saracens are fourth overall. Saris are the top attacking team. Exeter are ninth in attack.
00:21:23
Speaker
So the salaries are strong against hookers locks and flankers to four and one, not that that really matters for this oh wait it matters fucking ton. There's second overall against centers, they're weak against scrum halves and fullbacks, which actually does play to exit his advantage to be fair.
00:21:41
Speaker
Last week was a bad week to captain Sam Simmons as several of our friends found out this week. Once again, it's a bad week to captain Sam Simmons. Um, like in all likelihood, um, you're, you're, you're, it's a, it's a roll of the dice this week. Not so much a sure thing. Um, the saris are just good at taking away other teams, best options. And really, especially if they put out that Ewers and Kirsten lineup. Oh yeah. No help. Simmons is the only option. So the saris will be easily shut them down. Um,
00:22:12
Speaker
So you can kind of get points from him, but no, don't expect too much. Maunder should do well, as we said. They're weak against scrumhaves and hog as well, because he'll get a lot of opportunity to run the ball, and he likes doing that. Saracens do like to kick a lot, and he likes to try to make teams pay for that. So good for him. Everyone else is highly dependent upon selections. So I can't really say. There's not many people I would recommend from Exeter right now in this matchup.
00:22:39
Speaker
You'll have to find out on Friday before matches how I feel because I don't know what lineup they're going to go with. If they're going to go with a smart lineup for Saracens or if they're going to go with a fucking dumb grind it out, it's not going to work. Why not? On the Saris end, it's a fantastic matchup for the forwards. So Exeter are strong against Scrum Haves, Fly Haves, Wings, and Fullbacks. They're all number four.
00:23:02
Speaker
They're weak against props last in the league. They're weak against hookers 11th. They're weak against locks 12th. They're weak against flankers 13th last in the league. And number 8 is their 10th. The prop hooker lock flank 8th.
00:23:17
Speaker
Well, there you go. So, you know, the saris have some high scoring props. They have some high scoring hookers. They got some high scoring locks and flankers and eights. All are. Yes, they're good. I'd sit whoever's at nine. I'd not have either of their nines on my team at this point. They're they're just not scoring. And really, saris only weak point of the of their actual team.
00:23:45
Speaker
And not that that's weak, it's just that's their glaring hole. Like, you know, someone like an Alex Mitchell might help right about now. Yeah, right. If that I mean, I know that was never ever an option. Oh, wait.
00:24:02
Speaker
Laws should get some decent kicking points, whether he's at 10 or not. So he might, you know, if he's at 10, then start there 10. Otherwise, for Sarries, do not start. I would not start good if he's at 10. No. Melons is still a must-start, regardless of matchup. But especially if he's at wing with Goody at 15, which I would fucking love to see, so I keep asking for it. Yeah. Keep praying for it, man. Keep hoping to keep praying for it.
00:24:26
Speaker
Yeah, we might see some big boys rolling in for Saracens like Duncan Taylor might be thrown into that 12 position this week, right? Wouldn't be shocked. Not would not be shocked either. Although I don't know I would I still think that that's a matchup miss. That's a mismatch athleticism wise against Sam Simmons in favor of Simmons. So I'm not sure I would like that. You mean him going at 12?
00:24:51
Speaker
Yeah, if Simmons is running at R12, you know, because if he's running off first receiver, that might be where he's he's attacking more often than not. And I would like a more athletic 12. But he's a better he's a better tackler than Tom. That's my problem. That is very accurate. OK. That might be what you see. There we go. My guess at least.
00:25:17
Speaker
Alright, to the Sunday game, Lester and Quinn, this should be tasty for the Tigers.

Leicester vs. Harlequins Preview

00:25:23
Speaker
Matias Moroni, a week off after Puma's duty, he's fresh as Daisy probably. Quinn's are middling against Sanders and he's also versatile on TRM, can be played at wing a la Matt Proctor. He's a play for me this weekend, if he's at 13. Wing, I'm not as convinced, but if he's at 13, give him a roll out there, I like him.
00:25:44
Speaker
Um, I play any of Nadello Potter, Murray, Murray, Violet Quinn's worst defensive position in fancy is wing. So that's your shot apart from the big obvious names that I didn't mention yet. So there's that, um, also for Lester, I wouldn't risk playing any prop. That's not the baby rhino. Gage is the only player worth it for them at that point. Some of you have decided that Dan Cole might be worth that. And I don't know this week. No, he's been, he's been, he's been a tackling machine lately and he's been scoring points, but, but.
00:26:13
Speaker
It's, it's that, you know, it's not gonna, yeah. I'm just back. Forget that. Yeah. Well, I mean, he's toured well with Gange. Like he and Gange have been a really good combination with that. Cause yeah, Gange Gange a little bit more in the loose and then he's that, you know, the tighter option and defense and really that's how they've been. Um, both of them just shutting teams down from the proposition anyway. And, um,
00:26:38
Speaker
Yeah, it's just not like you can't really rely on that. I don't know how much the harlequins are going to go inside. So I don't know how many opportunities. I would say not likely. Yeah.
00:26:47
Speaker
For the Quinn's, Lester, our number one fantasy defense. We'll see who's matchup proof for the Quinn's, especially away from home. Danny Carey is a play for me this week. Unless you have Alex Mitchell, I'd still play him. It's actually Lester's weakest point. That's not saying a whole lot. Ollie Fox and the previously mentioned Mitchell had good matches at nine in the previous two Lester matches. So there's that as well.
00:27:13
Speaker
Yes, play Marcus Smith. Lester have not seen a fly half of his quality in the type of form he's in. Play him without blinking. Don't worry about it. Whether or not he's going to get you 40, that's probably not happening, but still, he's worth the play. Okay. I'm actually terrified to play anyone outside at 12 this week for the Quinn's. I think someone will hit for them. I'm just not sure who. I have no way to figure that out at this point. I'd put who you can from these positions on the pine, and I have like Esther Hazen, which is terrifying.
00:27:42
Speaker
So I have line of two and I'm not really, I'm not convinced. I'm not personally, I am not worried about Esther Hazen cause he makes his own points. He he's good at tackling, which is big. Um, doesn't miss many either. And he will just run through a motherfucker and like beyond him, I want to play it up. Yeah. And Tyrone green, I think his matchup proof at this point, as far as starting, he might not, even if, you know,
00:28:07
Speaker
You might not, he might not score as much but he there's always an opportunity for him to go over 30 just because he feels like it takes advantage of another team's mistake. Sometimes. On tour of the weeks. Yeah. So my, my start of the week we've been talking about.
00:28:29
Speaker
a lot more than I expected to in these pods. And I think he's got a fucking tasty, tasty, tasty matchup because it's Hans Wooster. And it's really his opportunity to shine and he'll get that up. The opportunities will be there all match and Jacob Umaga, I think will convert enough of them to get you good fantasy points.
00:28:52
Speaker
Nice. Like, like, like, yeah, I hope we see the old Jacob Bumaga. That was the fun one that I love watching for sure. Um, for me, uh, start of the week, um, empty, that's not hit expectations this year. He's still turning in performances though. Um, he's going to have some company in the, in the back row this week, so that'll help him out a little bit and maybe open things up. He's going against the softest opposition Worcester as well. Um, so my start of the week around time of the prime is lost. Number eight, Tom Willis.
00:29:23
Speaker
Yeah, yep. I considered him, I considered Maro Itoji, but no, those are obvious starts. Yeah, that's a good one. You've picked Maro already. I hadn't picked Tom yet. Oh, interesting. Okay. I'm pretty sure you already did, but maybe I'm crazy. I don't know. It sounds like something I would do. It sounds like something I would do.
00:29:44
Speaker
My sit of the week is somebody you mentioned. And we both love this guy, but he's just not scoring a lick right now. And so the matchup is again, as we've been talking about seems kind of tasty, but in reality is not. So going against Bath is not as easy as it sounds anymore. And so Matt Proctor have a psychologist.
00:30:12
Speaker
the Proctor. Yeah, I love him, but he's not scoring well this year. And I really think that Dingwall is going to be like, you know, the center, right? And Hutch isn't, he's like, they're both playing well. I'm not trying to take away their, their playing. This is all fantasy. Proctor's not producing and neither is,
00:30:32
Speaker
Hutch. Neither is Hutch. So yeah, stay away from them. Go, go, go, go to the Dingwall. To the wall, to the Dingwall. Balls to the Dingwall. Yeah, exactly. Um, for me, um, this guy's highly owned despite having zero games above 20 this season, um, and his opposition haven't let any players at this particular position, 12 score more than 13 in a game.

Fantasy Rugby Advice and Show Wrap-up

00:30:57
Speaker
Bad omens. Um, my city of the week for round nine is England and Exeter center, Ali Davoto.
00:31:04
Speaker
I like where your head's at. Same same position. Yeah. Yeah, I don't. Yeah, I agree. And I get it like he was good last year, especially in spots, but nope, he's he's not that kind. He's got not this guy. He's not. Yeah, he's not really a good player, I guess is the way he'd say it. Yeah, I think he feasted on the attention that that the Simmons is and Slade got. And
00:31:35
Speaker
There's not much need to do that. Now that teams have figured out that, Oh, they're just really kind of dicking around to try to get a penalty and most more than anything. Um, just make your check and just make your tackles. All of a sudden devote is like, Oh, wait, they're just making their tackles. All right. Um, to the pick of them, uh, Gloucester and Bristol Friday night home team. Yeah. Don't host some team. It's like, yeah.
00:32:03
Speaker
It should be a fun one to watch. I hope it is the least.
00:32:06
Speaker
Um, London Irish and Newcastle. I'm going with the hosts as well. Home team again. Yeah. This could be a lot. I think these are, it's like for both of those first two, they're, they're fairly evenly matched teams in my opinion. Um, with some, you know, they don't mean that there's, there's clear differences right now. Gloucester are playing better than Bristol. The Irish are playing better than Newcastle. But as I said before, Newcastle can jump up on you and Irish and go to sleep. Yeah.
00:32:34
Speaker
So that's the exit or about that. Right. So just home teams. It's just like, that's what's going to break that, I think. Saints and Bath. Unfortunately, I don't think this is where Bath break their duck. Yeah. And this is not like those other two matches.
00:32:55
Speaker
What's your loss? Well, considering our two starts of the week come from lost, right? And they're on they're on the fast track to which helps. They're at their six ways. Right. Excellent. Saracen, this if there is a the old enemy game in premier ship rugby, you know, England like to call it Wales, the old enemy. If there is one of those types of things, this is it.
00:33:19
Speaker
This is it. These are old enemies that just don't like each other. And there was no natural rivalry that occurred in terms of history. It's just been based on the playership finals and the number of times that they met each other and clash pretty hard. Right. It's like when you play a hockey series, you know, you just play seven game series against another team. You fucking hate them by the end of it. That doesn't go away that easily. No.
00:33:47
Speaker
Imagine that stretching over multiple years where that that's you play the most emotional game of the season every year against that team. It becomes a thing. Yep, it totally does. You know, and they've and it's been it's it's always one of those ones that you get the popcorn out and you're like, let's see what happens. Let's see what breaks because something's going to break. However, in the with we're talking about on team form.
00:34:16
Speaker
Teamform is not amazing for Exeter now. To me, this is... Do Saracens fuck themselves out of their own heads? That's what decides this match. It's all in the Saracens' hands just based on how Exeter are playing and how Saracens are playing. Who's Saracens have and what they've been doing and just...
00:34:41
Speaker
Exeter's entire game plan. It's not even about so much for Exeter, who they have. Although it doesn't matter who they start, as we said. It's just how they play. It's not a winning style anymore. It's to eat, you know. Yes. Oh, you're just looking for to kick it in the corner and then drive over. It seems to figure it out. That made a real hard buy for them on that one last week. That was really good. That was really good on them.
00:35:04
Speaker
Right. And teams in general are just cutting down on the penalties around midfield. Cause that's, that's what Exeter thrive on. Yeah. They know they're going to get it. Just be patient. Just, you know, don't try for too much. Just bake your tackles and they'll eventually fuck it up. And then you, now you put it back deep in their territory again. Yeah. I mean, see the London Irish match that they lost, you know, that was, that's how many of those guys had Tony on the day, a lot of them, but they didn't give away a lot of penalties. So it helped.
00:35:28
Speaker
And I'm not saying it's easy. I'm not saying this. No, you have to be very disciplined. You have to be very disciplined. It's not easy, but Saracens are a team. That's why I'm saying it's down to their attitude, because if they bring the right attitude, that disciplined attitude, they're a little cruise. But if they bring their, they've been in a little shithouse at times lately, a little bit cringe out there. So if they go with that attitude, it's not going to work out well. No, well.
00:35:56
Speaker
I'm Sunday match Luster and Quens at welfare road. I'm taking the house. Is this match? I'm glad you did. Is this match more than just this match?
00:36:12
Speaker
I mean, I think there's something there's a little bit more than than just the match on the line here. I mean, it's not like, you know, it's not you're not playing for the 10s, the 10 that you want. It's not that it's not like, you know, whoever wins wins that it's that's that's clearly decided. But do you think there's a little bit of a.
00:36:33
Speaker
Yeah, there's something there's no doubt. Yeah. And you know, it's, it's right now, what's been an unstoppable tank in Leicester, against, you know, everybody's favorite new fly half for cleanse and
00:36:47
Speaker
Can he get, you know, get in there and get, you know, he's going to have to do some of the hard stuff, unfortunately, in this match. And then if he does, it will open up later on, but he needs to do the hard stuff. So, you know, and we need to see the likes of Luis and Don Brandt step up for the state and Marler for their forwards. And then, yeah, their usual backs and
00:37:10
Speaker
We'll see if because that midfield is dynamite for both for both sides. So we'll see how that looks. I think whoever they roll out for either side is going to be very fun to watch. Yeah, I am going with the visitors on this one, because I think in the end, Quinn's are the like heavy edge one to 15. In total, actually, sorry, one to 23, really.
00:37:36
Speaker
I like that the talent that the Harlequins can roll out there and Lester have been fantastic, but I'm not sure. Like, yeah, I'm excited to see what this kind of test. I don't know that. Yeah. I mean, outside of Saracens, which was the pretty good match in its own right.
00:37:55
Speaker
Yeah. I'm not sure I want to see Lester against another top team and see how that works out. Cause I mean, we know Quinn's can just jump up and fucking put 50 up for fun. Yeah. If you're not paying attention, absolutely. Right. Even as like that could happen. I'm not saying Lester wouldn't score 30 of their own, but, um, this could be, this could be like either a grind it out match or it could be a, um,
00:38:18
Speaker
I can look, you know, anything you can do, I can do better type of match. I'm really hoping for the latter. Yeah, I think we all are. And if it is, I think that favors the Quinn's because that's their that is their style. It's like that's what they've been doing. Lester are developing it. Yep. Yes, yes, yes. Agreed. All right. So fancy corner wrapped up.
