It's another episode of the Fantasy Corner from those dopes at TFRY. We've only got two comps to talk about for this upcoming week, well isn't that just sad. Just the same, we have a look back at the week that was in fantasy, especially in our coveted Champi-Yanks League, in TRM and FRD formats. Yeah, we dig into that Start or Sit thing once again, where again, we don't necessarily see eye to eye, but that's the fun of having more than one person, right? Grab your notepads and a drink, enjoy folks!

Welcome and Introduction to Fantasy Rugby Podcast

00:00:08
Speaker
Hey, everybody. Welcome back. It is the fantasy rugby game. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glauser. Well, let's get to it. It's fantasy time. You know, we have more leagues to recap than we do to do start to zip for. But yeah, that's all right. It's okay. Still got lots to do. So, right.

Beer Introductions and Patreon Plug

00:00:24
Speaker
First of all,
00:00:26
Speaker
New beers, this new beers, the beers. Now, if you haven't grabbed it yet, grab our Patreon because Six Nations is analytics are on there now. They will be trying to get them this weekend so they can get there a little early. And I'm like days away from having the super rugby ready that.

Fantasy Rugby League Updates

00:00:50
Speaker
Yeah, it's about.
00:00:52
Speaker
60% done. And I didn't get to spend too much time on it this week, but next week, it'll be out. It does have been watching too much and going, going out too much. I had a weekend excursions and that, you know, slow it down.
00:01:07
Speaker
Mostly stop seeing your mom. Don't stop coming over here. Yeah, what the fuck? Be family and friends. What the hell? Let's look at Six Nations TRM. We'll go to FRD. TRM was
00:01:23
Speaker
It was an average high scoring affair. Like everybody got well into the sixes I think this weekend. I thought I had a kind of crap week and I had 674. So yeah, about that. It's a big weekend for scores. Right. I had 713. Holy fuck. Ben had the top one in the group. Ben is 1, George 2, Mark 3. There was literally no movement.
00:01:48
Speaker
Um, I'm for Duncan, Anton, Justin, and Carrick holding up the bottom. Um, yeah, I am only in fourth by the skin of my teeth. I am there by freaking seven points. Cause I mean, I made some okay moves in terms of who I signed and who I brought in law, which helped, um, kept Pinot, uh, got forced to use Chris Harris, which I was wild about. And, um, McNally was my hooker, which again, it wasn't super wild about.
00:02:22
Speaker
I screwed up because I kept Watson in my bench I meant to bring on.
00:02:29
Speaker
Shit,

Fantasy Team Management Strategies

00:02:30
Speaker
Lamaro. Somehow, like, I just had a brain fart. I added Skinner. So for free, luckily, but my ads were Skinner and I did add low as well. And then I don't remember who else I picked up. Wasn't awful. But yeah, it worked out just fine. Not complaining at all. Bless you. For FRD, for my league, we had
00:02:56
Speaker
Duncan beat George, I lost to Liano. And in a tough one, it was Franco and or
00:03:07
Speaker
Yeah, we just know you don't Franco Franco. Sorry, cheese. I'm sorry. I'm doing you a disservice by that. We don't have the names. We just have we're going by there. We're going by the team names. I should write these down. And then so but but covers beat mark. So I know Cobus at the high score of the week's mark would have beat at least a couple others. So that was too bad. But that's how that's match up fantasy stuff right there for you. That's just how it works out sometimes. Right? sucks. What did your division look like?
00:03:37
Speaker
And the other division, Franco just took me to town. I didn't score too badly. I got 117. He popped off with 143. Don Brad, and he had Lowry. He added Lowry, so. Oh, yeah.
00:03:53
Speaker
There you go. Justin doubled up Carrick 156 to 76. Carrick's struggling. And then Anton whooped up on Scarry Larry.
00:04:12
Speaker
All right. Well, sorry. Yeah. So in that freaking Italian front row. So I was I was doomed. I was like, oh, that's going to be my front row right there. And end. Yeah. Oh, I had England's front row. Yeah. That's not bad.
00:04:28
Speaker
Right. Yeah. And I still have I still have two Italian back three players, too. So that's so to die. I have. Yeah, I had Petavania and Bruno. I saw that this week, though I got caught. So remember, if you're if you're out there doing the frds, don't forget that you could still make changes this week and that they've added players like, oh, James Lowe and Rory Darge. So I was able to get both of them off the waiver wire and because nobody decided to look at the waiver wire. So check your leagues.
00:04:58
Speaker
those two are now available.

Player Trades and League Dynamics

00:05:00
Speaker
They weren't going into the weekend. So no, they weren't. They've added players. Yeah, that was that was a little difficult. Yeah, I do. I mean, and sometimes you just kind of hope that you have someone that's wanted to trade to and you just don't have it when I think they had three out of position players overall. And in terms of the teams play outside back that were out of position, like Lowry's list is a fly half. My father's list is a midfield. They're like,
00:05:26
Speaker
It makes it tough to feel the whole back three when not all three, when all six teams don't have Tui Palatu is a flanker. Right. So, you know, so it makes it tough, makes it tough, makes it tough. But it makes it kind of fun, too. Kind of like, all right, we'll just throw this guy there. Yeah, try it. Let's try this. Let's try this dart and see what happens. Wildcard bitches. Yeah, right. And then Prem TRM, we had
00:05:54
Speaker
Again, no movement, but I am, again, just hanging on by the hair on my chin, chin, chin. I'm in my spot by three points. Eee! That went for me. Yeah, Ben's one. Duncan's two. I'm three. Anton is four. Like I said, creeping up right there. Carrick is five. Justin's six. Marcus seven. And then George is eight. George still had a much better week than a bunch of us. So, good for him. So, he's climbing. He's starting to climb out of there.
00:06:21
Speaker
That one, I'm still in the top 30, so I'm happy. I was just like, I thought I had a down week. And plus, I had to eat 20. So I would have had over 500. But oh, it fucked me over because Pearson, I couldn't add Pearson because I have too many London Irish. And I'd already made two. I know. And I'd already made too many drops. So I was like, OK, well, if I have to drop someone else anyway because I need a forward,
00:06:44
Speaker
like 820 and added Dan Duprios. So yeah, that well, that wasn't a terrible, you know, yeah, I had, I made the hard to do. We talked about how important it is to make sure that you captain the right person. And I did not captain the right person. That's what made my week go.

Impact of Captain Choices

00:07:00
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. That's right. You did Robinson, huh? Yeah. He didn't do well for me either. I mean, he got 68. That's pretty good. That's justifiable. At least like mine was not good at all. Yeah. I guess if he scored more than your captain scored with his. Double edge. Yeah. Not good. Not good. Not good at all. Um, and then I chose this week to add Roebuck and that was, that's an hour. Although honestly, I don't think it would have mattered. My other option was pretty bad too. So.
00:07:28
Speaker
Poop. Oh well. But better things ahead. I have plans. I have plans. And hopefully I can keep my freaking spot. And then super, super rugby. FRD in this one. Well, Nanton took down Ben. And then a big score. George took down Carrick.
00:07:49
Speaker
frickin George put up 150. Yeah, that's a big one. Justin put up 147 he beat Mark, he beat Mark. And then I beat Duncan in what was a pretty big slug fest. It was 125 to 109. So damn. Yeah. Our rejects league is bad.
00:08:09
Speaker
It's not good. Well, we had Rayasi and that would have done us great jobs if we didn't start hodge. Oh, yeah. Dodge. And we didn't have a front row and we were missing a loose forward because of the game cancellation. Yeah. So it was our team is literally the rejects. OK.

Personal Experiences and High-Scoring Weeks

00:08:30
Speaker
So like, yeah, that is the worst that I've had the other one. I'm this one in the other one. I think I'm two and now.
00:08:39
Speaker
Um, and I won my blitz matchup. Oh, nice. Dive into the blitz for the first time ever. And I was able to get over the, get over the line this week. Yeah. I was, uh, I was like, you know what? I'm going to try it. And it was actually, actually it was kind of, well, the drafting is the fun part, obviously. Um, but then like you have two people that don't show up and they're, you know, the auto draft is going to pick.
00:09:04
Speaker
Some players that you're like, I would not want that personally. We like that we're on by and want a Pacifica that we're on by and guys that aren't starting like Bowdoin Barrett and, you know, all enriching Mwunga and all that. So it's like, yep, take them. I don't want them. Okay. Bye. So that, so that was fun. And I did, although Mwunga is back in the lineup this week. So yeah, if I only lose two and a half weeks, um,
00:09:29
Speaker
Yeah, not bad. Pretty happy to tap him. Yeah, I did lose my TRM Cup matchup. I knew it was bad news. I knew it was bad news. I was like, this is not going to go well, is it? I dumped most of my team Friday with those three games. Okay. Yeah, I lost by over 100. I was not going to.
00:09:48
Speaker
Oh well. That's the furthest. I think that's the furthest I've gone. Fort Run 4. Not bad. Not bad. I just got to Round 2 this year. That was the first time getting there. Right. So I'm looking to expand on that next time.
00:10:04
Speaker
Yeah. Well, the dude that beat me had no business. He had like a ridiculous week. That's like way out of out of his normal team. I think he like dropped 200 points the next week. It's like he beat me by 10. Yeah. Yeah.
00:10:20
Speaker
Yeah, just completely out of the out of the brain experience. Yeah. Well, that's why that's kind of what makes it fun because people get cleared out by, you know, a fluke week one way or the other. It does happen. That is the downside of competition and matchup competition of any way, shape or form. So say Bobby. All right.
00:10:42
Speaker
It is time for start

Rugby Match Start/Sit Advice

00:10:45
Speaker
setting. I think you can lead us off with the Quinn's match on Friday. Okay, Quinn's versus Falcons. Quinn's are fourth in attack, sixth in defense, Newcastle are 12th in attack, and fifth in defense.
00:10:58
Speaker
And the matchups aren't particularly good. So for on the Quinn side, Newcastle are fourth versus Hooker, their first versus lock, seventh versus flank. So it's like, OK, they're the forwards. They're they're kind of decent against nine versus scrumhaves, 13th versus centers, 11th versus wing and 12 versus fullback. OK, well, now you have my attention because start the normal players. You start, you know, care, Andre, Lina, Marley Green.
00:11:27
Speaker
And then I would also look at your vicious for a potential rental if you're really in need of options. Um, he, if he's starting, I mean, he's been scoring really well, even off the bench, um, levies and the other locks are kind of questionable for this one. Um,
00:11:41
Speaker
just because they're, again, Newcastle are first versus Locks. On the Newcastle side, Harlequins are fourth versus Hookers, seventh versus Locks, first versus Flankers, ninth versus eights, which doesn't really matter, eighth versus Flyhaves, fifth versus Centres, fourth versus Wings, and sixth versus Fullback. So there's actually some decent match-ups here. So if you can stash Maguigan on your bench, do it. He'll still probably get in the 20s, maybe 30s,
00:12:11
Speaker
There's probably better match-ups out there. Again, that's the ceiling though. If you get to 20, you're happy. If you get 15 on your bench, yay!
00:12:24
Speaker
Peterson and Robinson are good to go, as we were talking about on the other pod. They've been excellent together. And fantasy-wise, they're both raking, so go for it. Outside of those three players, I'm really iffy on Newcastle. Radwen, I'm looking at maybe dropping. He's been poop lately.
00:12:43
Speaker
Yeah, that'll happen. And it's not his fault. It's just that they're like, the other teams are like, oh, you can run a little bit. We'll just make sure that we don't leave you that much space. And because it's not like Newcastle will have much up the middle either in an attack. So they can keep the field spread.
00:12:59
Speaker
It's really, you know, they're kind of suffering from the WASP swings problems without the centers to open up space for them. Right. Right. Same.

Fantasy Picks for Weekend Matches

00:13:08
Speaker
Same. Same. All right. The big one, Bath and Bristol. If it's not a big one, don't tell them that.
00:13:16
Speaker
for Beth. Nathan Hughes, assuming his loan deal lets him play against his parent club, he's good to go this week. Bristol are 10th versus number eight. He's in good form to boot. Wilmer spoke about him last week. Once again, he's good. He's a go for me. Bristol are 12th versus wings. He's been in fine form. And the last week wasn't amazing. But yeah, and then there's this guy named Joe Cook who's saying we've had a sighting of him. If he's in there, he's probably an okay start as well. If you can
00:13:42
Speaker
if you want to point down that change. Miles Reed is a popular pick, obviously compared to his teammates at least. Not a good play this week. Bristol are third against flankers. He's worth the bench spot though, if you need it, because sevens are better of the two flanks against Bristol. So there's that. And he makes so many tackles that he'll get his points in. Yeah, I think he'll be okay for a good bench spot there.
00:14:03
Speaker
Harry Thacker could be a big play this week as we know Bath are very generous to hookers and he's always won Ray to put up a nice number. Nice number. So give him a give him a go. If you got him, Stephen Lewitt to have the Bristol captain has played himself back into some damn good form lately. And it's probably more of an afterthought than the likes of Harding and Bowie play him to Lloyd Purdier, Chuck, whoever's at fullback parked them. Bath have only given up one good score to a fullback so far, which is really weird considering all the things about that.
00:14:33
Speaker
Funny how that goes off the stone X for the biggest match of the weekend. This is Lester one versus two as such as it is an attack. Actually. Oh, no. It's actually one of the other one. So the series are first in attack, second in defense, Lester fifth in attack and first in defense. So it's.
00:14:55
Speaker
sluggers going at each other. For the Sarries, I kind of throw out the numbers in this one because these are players who rake no matter what for the reasons that the things that they do score points. So it doesn't matter that Lester first versus props and hookers. You're starting the Sarries front row anyway because they'll score.
00:15:16
Speaker
Yeah. Theo if he's at lock is a great start. Ben Earl and Billy V. Definitely starter worthy. Billy V obviously if you have the fundage, especially during this time, he might be a good rental so that you can swap him back for like a Dom rant later.
00:15:31
Speaker
The backs outside of laws, I'm just not sure. Tompkins might be around for this, I don't know. It's still a rental, so I would stay away. On the Lester side, Montoya and Dolly are starter worthy, doesn't matter what. Again, Saries, Lester are first versus props and hookers, Saries are third, and it's close.
00:15:52
Speaker
It doesn't matter. Hays actually might be a good start if he's starting. And then expect a lower output from Wells, Leibenberg, and Veese than you're used to. Jack van Portfleet is a good start, but hold off on the rest of the backs. Porter might be worth a bench spot. Yeah, Guy Porter's been doing pretty well. Yeah, that's basically if Tomo is playing, no. But if he's not, then yeah, go for it. Yeah, go for it. All right. Gloucester in Northampton.
00:16:21
Speaker
For the home team, Ollie Thorley is definitely back. Northampton are also ninth versus wings. So they can be had out there and Thorlow is in good form. So thumbs up to him this week. Jack Singleton, after being Ben Sitt of the week last week, well worth the call. He's back in play this week with Northampton middling at best against Hooks. I mean, and we know he's at least a decent quality. So he's a play if you have him. Hastings is a definite sit for me this week. Northampton had a third versus fly-offs even after a decent week.
00:16:50
Speaker
from Sir Joseph against them last week, I'd sit him out right if I have him. Northampton from the States, Manny Yoyogan, a lesser known asset for to some for the Northampton, but could be worth a look if you need if you're in need of a prompt for a rental. He's going well when he started and Gloucester 11th versus props.
00:17:09
Speaker
Uh, James Grayson, a really nice option at 10 this week, especially with foster 10th versus fly half, a hundred percent worth of spot on your team. If he's playing, he's fairly cheap as well. So that helps. Um, this is the only time he's been, this, this stretch is the only time he's worth it. And I'm hoping bigger isn't playing otherwise. Yeah. If I'm waiting for you back, I'm calling Chris Boyd. Don't play him. Um,
00:17:32
Speaker
Kornil Skosan is back to a sit this week, lost our first versus Williams and he's been pretty inconsistent to say the least. So thumbs down for Kornil, unfortunately. Sorry. All right, on to the Irish versus Worcester. The exiles are second in attack, 11th in defense. Worcester are 11th in attack and 13th in defense. So
00:17:57
Speaker
Yeah. For the exiles, the Worcester are ninth or worse. Everywhere. At every position. The best defensive position is ninth. So...
00:18:08
Speaker
Yeah, I think I've mentioned it before, but look for Pearson, if you haven't already. In TRM, he's like 130, I think, 128, something like that. Somewhere in that neighborhood, yeah. And I think he's only a flanker, but that's like, again, maybe you had Davidson. I certainly did until I dropped him this past weekend, but
00:18:29
Speaker
like this is your drop-in kind of replacement for that bench spot. You just sit them on your bench. You might start them here or there, but absolutely pick them up.
00:18:39
Speaker
And then other than that, start everyone for the war, for the, for the, uh, for the Irish. Cause you know, if you, if you got them playing, um, I'm really pissed at Hassell Collins and Goodrich Clark are out for that. For the warriors, uh, the Irish are ninth or worst versus all forward positions.
00:19:01
Speaker
Um, their fifth versus scrum have second versus fly halves, seventh versus center, sixth versus wings and 10th versus full backs. So there's some variability there, but you're starting your Annette, um, Batley and Vianu. He's only like 180 or something like that. He's ridiculously cheap. Um, and he's been scoring his last two games. He's had over 30. So this is a good matchup for him. Um,
00:19:27
Speaker
Beck inventor, again, are options. Duhan is an option, definitely. Gareth and Finn, again, fifth versus Scrumhead, second versus Flyhaves, their bench at best. If you got them, keep them on your bench, find someone else.
00:19:41
Speaker
Mm hmm. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I want one. Yeah, hopefully do hopefully do hon plays. But if, you know, right, call your calls diamond and says hit cinema, you dick. Yeah, but we'll we'll start. We'll diamond. Listen, this is the question.
00:20:05
Speaker
Exeter and sale on Sunday. This will be actually very interesting. This and sale are out for revenge.
00:20:12
Speaker
For Exeter, Josh Hodge. He's in again, as long as Baxter doesn't get too dumb, I'd stick and do something like stick with it. Fullback, which don't put it past him. He's in there. Fullback is a spot that email. I know. God damn it. Don't want to put out in the universe. Fullback is a spot that sale can be had and he's, and he's showing well. So it helps Richard capstick as a play this week. If he's in sale or middling against flankers and sevens are the worst of the two.
00:20:38
Speaker
So give him a go if you have him in the back row. I've recommended 10% in the past, but not this week's sale. I've gotten really nasty up the middle. They're actually really nasty overall of late as well, especially when two-year JBR in the lineup. And I would assume JBR is going to be in the lineup, so I'd say. Yeah. For the Sharks. I did read a cool article. I can't remember where I found it on the Twitters. I think whoever the author is, I follow them and they post it. But raving about
00:21:06
Speaker
Uh, Robert Dupria moved to 13 and him, his pairing with John Rensberg and how, how, how very well that's working out. Um, yes. I mean, most people will tell you that I'm working out. Right. And, and there was an issue because it talked about the, all the, everything from coaching, like Sanderson, there was an interview with Sanderson too, and a lot of good stuff in there. Right.
00:21:30
Speaker
for the Sharks as we as we speak. DJ has caught his form again. If you hadn't noticed, he's going to be a high rank in my fly half rankings this week for with Exeter at the bottom of the points against for that position. That's why I have been in the prem right now.
00:21:45
Speaker
That's playing in the front. Pretty much everyone that starts for sale is a go for me. Sands in the forward pack, Sands Ross, because he's a card waiting to happen. Consider some of the sale pack for captain, because the Exeter just give away bags of points.
00:22:03
Speaker
They do. One through seven. So, yeah, or even one through eight to a certain extent. Neither scrumhab has a start for me this week, though FAF really is. Exeter is second against scrumhabs and points against. So, it's a bench for Quirk and it's a sit for FAF for me. There you go. Yeah. Of the weeks. Yeah. So, do you want me to go by for my start? Go for it. So, there's a team out there.
00:22:34
Speaker
They gave up 25 points to Ivan Van Zell, who averages 15. They gave up 25 to Sam Hidalgo Klein, with 24 from Jack Maunder coming off the bench. They gave up 22 to Jack Van Portfleet, who averages 18, in just 48 minutes. And Wiggs came on in relief and got 16 points. Wow.
00:22:58
Speaker
Uh, this team is playing against Alex Mitchell on the weekend. Yeah, it's a good pick. Yeah. It's a really good pick. So like against Gloucester, I'm taking Alex Mitchell as my start of the week. Yeah, I nope. That's a good pick. And I considered him and I was like, I think I might've picked him this season and I considered I try elsewhere. Plus I have a good one. I think as well.
00:23:19
Speaker
There you go. I really like the likes of this guy's matchup. He's been on fire of late as well. His game will score him well against this particular opposition because he just does it all. And his club performance has been matching his taboo.
00:23:34
Speaker
I've picked his brother. It's his turn. My start of the week for round 19 of the friend is Dan Dupriev. I've got him on my team. You're welcome. And now there's a Hex on. Good luck. Well, I have Alex Mitchell too. So I play that. I came across this information as I was looking at, do I want to play care or Mitchell? And I was like, oh, wait, well, there's my start of the week. So now I have an answer.
00:23:59
Speaker
Uh, my sit at the week, I mentioned him already. Um, and so I don't need to talk about it anymore. Cause I gave you the in-depth talk before, but Gareth Simpson, um, as a guy, you, you have wanted on your team recently, not this week, said him cheap. So he may be like, if you haven't considered him, you haven't been paying attention. So at this point, this is not the time to jump on the Garth Simpson. No, no, no, no. Bad timing. Bad timing.
00:24:25
Speaker
I also spoke in my say of the week. His form has been of late and he's facing the club that typically is tough against his position. His form is bad enough that in fact, he's considered superfluous to his country. My say of the week for round 19 is Scotland and Gloucester fly off Adam Hastings. Yeah, that's a good call. Yeah, sorry. To the Supas.

International Fantasy Match Predictions

00:24:48
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, you got the first ever Moana Pacifica. Yeah.
00:24:56
Speaker
I started this analysis with a pun that only makes sense if you're reading it and get what I'm trying to say. Basically, the Monica Pacifica team, they're all flyers and they're all kind of flyers because you don't know how they're going to do, but they can all fly. So you kind of just.
00:25:17
Speaker
right um guessing because you just you don't know but they all have the potential to go off although they're playing the fucking crusaders so you cannot expect anything from them this is like uh you need a starter throw one out there you know i try to steer clear of stowers and toala um and obviously the locks um
00:25:39
Speaker
I think 12 is the 12, specifically. I think it was like the 8 and the 12. Oh, okay. Oh, yes, that was a little smart. I mean, yeah, right. Because those positions are the ones that score infrequently. So I would just stay away from them just because I'm being a little bit biased about their position.
00:25:58
Speaker
Yeah, fair enough. But other than that, go nuts. If you need a starter, go for it. Because as we saw, Crusaders could still give up points. They're not fucking, you know, they're a machine on an attack and they'll just create points, but they'll give them up too. So. Right.
00:26:15
Speaker
Pacifica, no reason to shy away. On the other side, the front row, Towerangi is a good option. Surprise starter, but I think we'll play extremely well in this attack.
00:26:29
Speaker
Um, especially once Mahonga comes in. Yeah, hopefully he's still playing on Mahonga comes in. Right. Um, uh, I said, I said an adult, yeah, an adult look is a different adult. Um, uh, finding a new cue at 13 is fascinating. Um, looking forward to it. Bridge and Fahaki, I think we'll, we'll play very well. Hickey had stay away from, you know, again, we don't know how long he's going to play. Cause yeah, I think, you know, he's, he's the first time starter. And I think, um,
00:26:59
Speaker
Or at least, yeah. And you got Mwung on the bench. It's like you got to watch the quick hook on that. So you never know. If he plays poorly enough, it's like, all right. Well, you're out, Richie. Go get him. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, we have the Fijian Drua and the Rebels. I'm going to do my damnedest to not butcher these guys' names on Fiji. I promise I'm trying. But
00:27:27
Speaker
Vernaya Habosi and Appisolome Vota. So that is one of their wings and one of their centers. Yeah. They're the only two for G and Drew. I would start without blinking right now. They're two highest and most consistent scorers so far that are in the 15 this weekend. That's their thumbs up for me. The Drew front row, I'd rather not have a front row than them right now. They've scored negative in both matches so far. So this point it's a E.
00:27:53
Speaker
and wait, like, nope, don't do it. And we love the way they play it, but at the same time, it's not doing them favors right now. So just hold back on that one. Don't start a front row if that's the only one. For the Rebels, Tommati Ioani, definitely a good filler for those that are missing a loose forward, had a couple of nice bench appearances so far, and I expect that to carry over. They even talked about the broadcast, like he is going to be a problem this week, I think.
00:28:18
Speaker
Ray knew a good play, play in the midfield score. Well, an ugly game for the Fort against the forest last week. I'd expect better results this week. Matt Tomu. If you have other options, consider them. Maddie has not been great. So thus far this season, the team hasn't done him any favors either. So that's not all his fault, but you know, if you have them play them, but at the same time, see if you have another option until he comes around.
00:28:46
Speaker
on to force versus Reds, which suddenly is a fascinating match. Although the force front row have been if they're going against a depowered, as we mentioned earlier, to pose is not out there. So and some of the other Reds front row aren't their normal guys. So they, you know, the Reds, I don't know if they're throwing out their normal squad, really, and what their their
00:29:15
Speaker
Thinking is there exactly, but right. Force for an option now, Ansti. Yeah, points eater. Isaac Fiennes also scores when he's out there. Matta Ali, as I mentioned earlier, Godwin, Pulu and Strahan. They, you know, expect lower scores because it's still the Reds and they're still going to play fucking ridiculous defense and you can't expect tries. So, you know, these are your you know, these are the guys you'd want to start from their team and then
00:29:47
Speaker
Hopefully there you're lesser scoring of those position players. You know, Fines could still score 10 and be worth it.
00:29:56
Speaker
On the other side, expect less from the front row, as I said, for the Reds. Harry Wilson, James O'Connor, Fluke, Paizami, Petaya, and Campbell. Yeah, you're going to have to trust that they're going to find gaps versus the force. Yeah. Yeah, you just don't have a choice at this point. Right. They should have options. And then it's good to see.
00:30:20
Speaker
Shit, who came back to start at 12? Paisami. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Say that again. Yeah, pretty sure it's him. Yeah, he's a monster. Right. Oh, no, I just had it. No, Hamish Stewart. Oh, yeah, Stewart's in there. But Paisami's in there, too, now, isn't he? Right. He's a 13. Oh, no, Paisami's. Oh, he's a 13. Yeah, he's returning. That's the one. Got it wrong. That's the one. We had the right play around position. Yeah.
00:30:48
Speaker
For Blues and Ben's Chiefs, for the Blues, Dalton probably is back. And I really like their team announcement. Can I just say that on here? It's really cool. I like that. Looks like they have a lot of fun with it. Yeah, for the Blues, Dalton probably is back. He should head straight into the lineup. I don't see how the Chiefs hold him back.
00:31:06
Speaker
Um, Bentley Christie, I've mentioned him last week. I'll mention him again this week. She showed issues with a mobile sniping halfback, um, with the bakatava the other week. Um, so it could be a good week for him if he's the same way. Uh, be weary of Hammy, Harry Plummer, as Ben mentioned with, um, Hickey.
00:31:22
Speaker
Barrett's on the bench. Who knows how long he'll have out there while Bodhi's waiting. So just keep your eyes peeled on that one. For the Chiefs, Brad Weber speaking of mobile and sniping halfbacks. He's one of the best. And with some injuries out there, I might put him on the top of the list for halfbacks this week. Booth did all right last week against the Blues. And he's better than Booth, so. Right.
00:31:45
Speaker
Alex Nankovil is worthy of a start this week, usually in handy replacement when called upon and has been. There's plenty of others for the Blues to worry about out there and he'll score fine. I think usually does when he's out there. Um, Tubal Vai quality lock. He's at six this week, but that's not much of an upgrade in terms of the position.
00:32:03
Speaker
Besides the best luck in this game is next to him. Play him if you dare. If you're going to play, yeah. Right. Play Vi if you dare, but don't expect that. You're not really getting an extra flanker at luck there. No. No, no, no. It doesn't work that way. No, if anything, it's probably a metallic. Right. It's still a metallic. You won't.
00:32:22
Speaker
All right, on to your creams versus the highlanders for the hurricanes, their front row. Yes, purify and severe. Oh, hell yes. And then love in that entire back line.
00:32:37
Speaker
Uh, they're not putting up much of a defense. Um, they don't put much, much of an argument, um, against the opposition attacks. So, uh, yeah, that back line is, is good to go. Uh, for the Highlanders, it could be some space for Frizzell. Um, the back line will score, but I'm just not sure who. Um, personally, I'm looking at, at Thomas and Mugga Jensen in kindergarten, Batship. Um, not just because they have three names, but because I think they're,
00:33:04
Speaker
the best of that back line. I think everyone else is kind of suspect, you know, Gilbert this quarter right last week. So yeah, the one to consider. But yeah, no, I know you're not wrong. Right.
00:33:16
Speaker
Brumby's and Taz for the Brumby's Jerome Brown, another potential lifeline for those seeking out a good starting loose forward. The Taz have been kind to sevens thus far in the opening weeks, so he's one you could consider. Iris Simone hasn't scored well, but there's potential there this week. Taz have given up 10 plus.
00:33:35
Speaker
to Stewart last week. Like, and I think somebody's gonna run better than him. So there's that. Love round Valentina, but six has been a complete hole against the ties. So step temper expectations and find another option if you dare.
00:33:51
Speaker
for the war ties themselves. He was on my bad list last week. He threw me, he threw it right back in my face. So he's good to go this week. It's a free day. Should be, should have a good week. The last two thirteens against the Burmese have found success and that includes the Virginia and drew a guy that I talked about earlier. James Turner, another name lesser known before the season, but should be in your lab this week. 11 has been a bit of a problem area for the Burmese in their defense. So he's good to go. And that's where he's playing.
00:34:18
Speaker
Sinclair and Gamble could have tough weeks this week. Brumby's have been very stingy against both sides of the flank thus far this season in their first two matches. So I would just kind of turn down the expectations of either of them if you went and snatched them up and find another one of the sports that we've mentioned already. Also that. So of the weeks. Yeah.
00:34:42
Speaker
You spoke negatively about my start of the week. Uh-oh. And I'm trying not to take that personally. One of us is going to be wrong, so it's OK. Right. This is a team that has just been as spittin', as as spittin' as it gets. And they're getting a practice girl.
00:35:07
Speaker
So for that reason, my start of the week is the guy who gets to pilot the ship against the practice girl, and that's fly half of the rebels met to Amoeba.

Fantasy Player Picks of the Week

00:35:19
Speaker
Yeah.
00:35:21
Speaker
For my sake, I hope he comes because I love the guy and I haven't run a bunch of teams. That's the start of the week is in. If he's, you know, there's no reason for him not to be an option. Obviously, you know, if you have a fly half that you're happy with, be happy with him. But given his, it's more of like the performance that he's shown to date is not what he's capable of. And I think he's going to show more this weekend. I think he's going to score like 15 to 20. Yeah.
00:35:46
Speaker
which is what you would be happy with as a fly. Very, very good. Fingers crossed, man.
00:35:53
Speaker
All right. Uh, for my guy, I didn't mention him. I covered his match, but I didn't mention him yet because I wanted to mention him here. He's he made his return last week and he showed out well as we hope he did, especially, you know, considering his debut day that he had for the all blacks a couple of years ago, he's back from his sevens duty and he's got himself a juicy matchup in front of him. And I don't see a reason that he's not going to keep going. So my start of the week is all blacks and blues flying winger, Caleb Clark.
00:36:24
Speaker
you. Hey, listen, you picked Giovanni last week. No, I really know because I was like, Yeah, I can't wait to watch Caleb Clarke. And I'm like, No, wait a minute. Yeah. So sit of the week.
00:36:46
Speaker
My, I just found out as I was reading this I had to go make sure I got his name right because he's not, it's not in my auto correct yet. And I was somewhat disrespectful to the Reds earlier, unintentionally I've had a couple of years when you want for me.
00:37:05
Speaker
But still that defense is going to be ridiculous because that's what they that's what they are and that's what they do. The rain just helps them in that endeavor. So we'll see if they can conjure some this time. But either way, I
00:37:19
Speaker
I mean, we've talked all sorts of nice things about him, but this week, sit Rhys-John Passitoa, who my autocorrect changed to Rhys-John Pasta. Yeah. Funny enough, so did mine, and so was it, because that's...
00:37:38
Speaker
That's exactly what happened to mine too. I was looking at it. I was like, that's not right. So now he's going to go off. So everybody go sign and reach Jim pastel and play himself.
00:37:55
Speaker
Yeah, I, you know, I spoke of them glowingly before. But as far as the fans, yes, it goes this week, it's going to be a long fucking week for the kid. Yeah, I again, I maybe he rubs it in everybody's face, in which case, Dave Rennie, are you watching? But yeah, yep. Sorry, it's Reece Jambasatilla this week.
00:38:15
Speaker
It's John Posk. Sorry, buddy. I did not mean to do that. Promise, promise, promise. I looked at it and I was like, that's not right. I'm going to go ahead and click learn. Yeah, right. It's like, no, no, no. That's the name. That's the name.
00:38:31
Speaker
Yeah, usually they're good. Usually God is good about like capital names too. Like they know, Oh, that's a name. So it's fine. Dicks. Also, it also doesn't know fuck or glutes. So apparently people just don't learn how to swear or exercise. So whatever. Yeah, which is the flutes.
00:38:54
Speaker
Oh, no. Yeah, I'm not joking. You gotta work on the flutes. Okay, you tell me how many times I've gone flutes, goddamn it, glutes. Shit, all right, pick them. I picked up a game I knew with that first one last week. Yeah. All right, Prem, Quinn's Newcastle. Quinn's. Quinn's.
00:39:17
Speaker
uh bath and bristol yeah at the wreck yeah at the if this was at ashen gate i'd pick bristol but i mean it's a little bit of a um a little bit of a rivalry i'd say last i checked um so and yeah i like the way bath are playing and i'm i still even with the win last week i wasn't like i wasn't overwhelmed by by bristol so
00:39:45
Speaker
Yeah. Um, series and Lester, I'm going to pick the series hoping that laws plays 10 because sorry, man. No, but you've just not been on it, man. I'm picking Lester. Yeah. Probably the, probably the smart guys. Just business. Just business. Uh, Gloucester, Northampton. Gloucester, Gloucester, the better team. This is one of those like,
00:40:13
Speaker
Northampton are not ready for this match. I'm going to take Alex Mitchell in the Saints. All right. There you go. You got a couple of chances to make your own up. Yeah. Irish mister. Yeah. Or sink deeper. Irish. Yeah. Exiles.
00:40:34
Speaker
Eggs are in sale. I'm taking Sanderson's go me to sale better team even though they're on the road. Yeah, I'll still take them right now. Yeah, they'll be fine.
00:40:44
Speaker
Um, down to super, uh, as much as it would be awesome if Moana Pacifica pulled this off, um, the smart market. It would be legendary, but no, I would, I would, I would jump up and down for them just as much as anybody else, but right. I'm rooting for them to do it. I'd make it my pick as a crusader. I'm not giving you a game. So no, uh, rebels for Jean Drua.
00:41:07
Speaker
Rebels. Rebels get off the snide. After eight straight losses or something? Yeah, they're mad. They played like poop last weekend and I'm sure Foote will tell them that as much. Nice little free jacks shout out in the Rebels match too because they were talking about Ryan Martin. Force and Reds. Reds. Yeah, it's still Reds. James O'Connor's playing 10? Yeah. Yep, Reds. Blues and Chiefs.
00:41:37
Speaker
Yeah. Bone bone bear comes on and does the job. This one's also being played in Queenstown, unfortunately, they were going to they tried to move it to. Right, so it's you know, with Island, but unfortunately, I think, you know, neutral field.
00:42:00
Speaker
That definitely helps. That is no longer a thing. And I like the way the Chiefs are playing. And the 20 minutes I saw the Blues. Yeah, that was the worst 20 minutes by far. Their first 60 was pretty awesome. So I'll give them that. Hurricanes and Highlanders. Hurricanes. They play like they did the last 20 last week. They fucking should stomp these guys. Yeah. And the high I have.
00:42:28
Speaker
I had to take to say it. I don't have too much respect for the Highlanders right now. Right now. No, I need to be shown a lot more than what they have. Yeah, they don't have much. No, I'm not sure what's coming. I'm not sure what the cavalry if there's any cavalry coming. Not really. No, I'll model is the only one they're waiting on. That's it. And that's not that's not enough. Yeah, for me. Yeah. Yeah. Most for me. Brumby's and ties. I'm gonna take the Brumby's there at GIO.
00:42:56
Speaker
Oh, shoot. I didn't get that far. I am going to take the toss, actually.
00:43:06
Speaker
Yeah. If this was in, yeah, if this was in self-wales, I might take it. But I like the way the Waratahs are playing. I'm not the Brumbies. I mean, I thought the Taz looked better against the Reds than the Brumbies did personally, but that's personal preference. So well, Brumbies haven't seen the Reds yet, thankfully for the football. Oh, I'm thinking, oh, shit, it was Rebels, wasn't it? Yeah. Rebels backlit like poop. Yeah. Oh, no. It was a force. It was a force. That's okay. Whatever.
00:43:36
Speaker
It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.
00:44:04
Speaker
Either you're going to be right here with me or it's going to be that much bigger. I'm fairly certain next week, I'll be like, why the fuck did I pick the tons again? That was maybe, maybe, maybe your, your, your old, uh, your old, um, love for them is coming back to haunt you. It is. It really is. Okay, cool. So we did this. Um, we'll have another big starter set week next week with, um, that will include six nations of course. And it'll be,
00:44:33
Speaker
Loads more fun. Maybe Jared can stay alive in the blitz league. We'll see how badly I draft. But yeah, fancy rugby podcast at gmail.com.
00:44:46
Speaker
We're working on sheets, obviously, all the time, so we promise we'll get used to that stuff. Oh, we didn't mention it at this pod. The super rugby sheet. Oh, we did? Oh, yeah, we did. It feels like a long time ago, but it was at the beginning. I thought that was the rugby pod. Nope, that was this one, too. Oh, fucking A.
00:45:06
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. It's like forever ago. Yeah, it's coming. Just like it feels like when we have like four Friday matches and then Wednesday, it's like, when did that match happen again? I know. I'm like, I know I watched that match, but it feels like three weeks ago. It does happen. Happens to the best of us. But yeah, so yeah, email us to Ben or I, we'll get the look at the starter set sheet for super out tomorrow. Tomorrow. Yeah. Sometimes hopefully early afternoon.
00:45:35
Speaker
Yeah, we have a couple of ups are out, so no excuse. We'll get at it. Other than that, yeah, ask you Friday on Fridays, which is always one of our most fun things to get. Enjoy the rugby. We'll catch you all next week. Good luck in your match ups. Have a good one. Later.
