Speaker
Hello. Hello. Welcome to See You Think You're a Comic, the movie podcast. And we're back. We are back. There was no interruption in our posting, but we are back. Yes, technically we are back. We are back. And that's all that matters.
Megan Thee Stallion Concert Tales
00:00:17
Speaker
um We saw Megan Thee Stallion. Yes, we did. That was excellent. It was really good. and I love the girls in a row. Really fun. Really, really, really fine. I drank a lot. That was also very fine.
00:00:34
Speaker
oh The girl sitting next to me kept like shaking her non-existent ass in my face. That was really... That was the best part for him? The best part for me, especially towards the end, once I started like really getting the effects, I just sat down and there was just a little wiggle happening. Yeah, just a little piece of paper doing the... Yeah, and my peripheral. yeah yeah yeah it kept me sane when i felt like falling asleep i was like i have something to concentrate on yeah yeah it got rough at the end and sir but we did it we did it yes we did yeah i unfortunately was too too too too too far gone to go to waffle house like i intended but yeah i got some food and
00:01:26
Speaker
Yeah, we asked it was fine. We made it. We lived. and thing It was a good time. Yeah. That's all that matters. Yeah. ah But how was your week, Kelly?
Kelly's Week & Gym Changes
00:01:44
Speaker
Well, outside of work, it was good. yeah ah We're kind of sucked, but that's whatever. a We, well, I say we, the the gym that I go to, it was closed this week for a day for some renovations and I came back and they had added a bunch ah bunch of new machines and stuff like that. And I felt like a gym new all over again, because like nothing stayed the same except for one rack of free weights against the, like one of the mirrored walls. And so I literally walk in and there used to be
00:02:24
Speaker
Because it's a two-story building. And so the the second story is where all the, um like, the the weights are and stuff like that. So you literally walk up the, like, before you'd walk up the stairs and then there'd be, like, a little free area. There was a desk there before and then there's lockers to put your stuff in there. So they took up the tap ah the desk a couple weeks ago. And now literally you walk up the stairs and maybe three, four feet from that is a machine. Like they really jam packed the machines up there. They're like, we need more machines. That's what they want. Bring in the machines. Oh my God. It's crazy. And then could they, could they be smart and take out a couple of the ellipticals and, uh, why am I forgetting the word for treadmill and treadmills? Yes, but they won't.
00:03:15
Speaker
They never will. They never will. You know what I think they could get rid of though, because there's a lot of older people in the community that I live in and so they do use the like the cardio stuff. I think they can get rid of the bike ones. The old people don't like the bikes? No, but well, there's like two of them. There's like two or three of them. And I'm like, there's so many more treadmills. Like you could put more treadmills or you could just take them out and put more space. for the the treadmills to be more separated because like literally like they're like this close to each other. There's like couple inches. Every gym I've ever gone to the treadmills were very close to each other. But like I never thought that was really a problem because there was always so many of them. I was just like a normal person will just go to a one that's not directly next to me. I have had people go to the one right next to me for some reason, but normal people will at least leave
00:04:15
Speaker
A little bit of space in between. Yeah, one in between at least. That's what I try to do. A lot of the times someone will just hop on the one next to me and it's like, why, dude? All right, why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? Or you have the separation perfect where there is one person, an empty one, one person, and then somebody messes up that system and then somebody has to stand next to you and it's like, yeah, really? You suck. But yeah, there's so many new machines that I literally, I got so overwhelmed I'm supposed to do like chest day. And I like walked in and I'm just like, I don't know where anything is. Like everything was moved. So I literally hopped on the stair stepper. And from my advantage point, I kind of just like looked around and I'm just like, where is everything? what what What is new?
Home Workouts & Weather Woes
00:05:04
Speaker
So yeah, now I have to figure out. it
00:05:08
Speaker
I have to figure out the gym all over again. see This is why I don't mess with the gym. I don't mess with gym anymore. I got my little bike at home. I ride my bike. I have my little free weights. Yeah. i'm a Folds and arms and my like boot camp stuff or my fit pass stuff. I don't mess with the gym right now. No, I like my piece. The only thing I wish is that my house had air conditioning like a gym, but yeah. You win some, you lose some. You got to take that L. Also, Jordan knows where my bike is now. And I will tell you that I did take, um because the gym was closed, I rode the bike when I got home from work. Killer's crazy, though. Ain't no way. In 130 degree weather. Ain't no way. With a fan behind me. I did 7.1 miles, though. She's insane. I would never do that.
00:06:04
Speaker
I sweat like a mofo, I will say. Like I literally bought workout clothes in case you like wanted to work out or something or if I felt like riding the bike. I saw where she kept that bike and I was like, absolutely not. Yeah. Yeah. And last summer when I wasn't really into the gym yet, I was in there every day. I know I would simply have to put it like in the hallway of your house or something. Like there's no way I would be doing it. Yeah. I mean, it's nice in the winter cause like it's always cold. So like it doesn't matter, but yeah, it gets rough the minute it starts getting hot. Yeah, no, I'm not doing that. Yeah. You should do that too either. Your parents are going to walk in there one day. You're going to be on the floor. There was one time last year where I did, I i think I went a little too hard. I think I did a 45 instead of like my normal 30 cause I was like, Oh yeah, I'm pumped today. Let me do a 45. Um, yeah, I had to ah get off the bike.
00:07:03
Speaker
after it was done and just immediately sit on the floor and just chug some water. because Oh, that reminds me. I was be i did a 45 today because I was like, I need to start getting back into my 45s. I did a 45 this week. That extra 15 minutes. Oh my God. Makes a difference. Oh my God. And then I saw like when I got into the app and I was like on the like home page that they were having a live 75 minute class. And I was like, who is doing 75? No. No. 75? How was that possible? like I feel like my legs would not let me go for that long. No. No. I would probably hit the 50 mark and be like, you know. i Not even 50. I don't think I could even make it to 50. I barely finished that 45.
00:07:52
Speaker
Yeah. The 45 is killer. Like when you, when you first start doing the 45s, even when I was doing 40 was kind of consistently, I was dreading it. hey Oh, that might hiss have to be like a once a week thing I do. And then I'll work my way up to more than once a week. Cause goodness. And I did a E and I did a intervals in arms class and I was still exhausted. Oh no. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, honestly, when you start adding just like one or two new things to your workout, it kind of kills you because I started to do it there. I did a different arm workout this week, but a lot of the a lot of the workouts were the same. I was just adding instead of 10, I would do 12. I would get to 10. I'm like, oh, this is great. I get to 11. I'm like, oh oh, oh, and then I would do 12. I'm like shaking to get to 12.
00:08:49
Speaker
Yeah. this is your name This working out thing better pay off. It better pay off. Yeah, for sure. For sure. I've dedicated too much time and sweat into this to not have it do something for me. Yeah. But I like it though. I like it. Anything else happen this week? No. No? Okay. I don't really have anything.
00:09:22
Speaker
this week i'm just i got my days approved for my vacation and like a week and a half oh yeah that's coming up quick isn't it well next week i'm not working pretty much i'm only working tomorrow on monday and then i have the rest of the week off Cause I thought I was going to be doing something for my birthday, but then this Florida thing came up. And so, you know, I'm going to Florida, so I'm just going to have that week off. Um, and then I have a full week of work and then that Sunday I
Vacation Plans & Birthday Surprises
00:09:57
Speaker
fly out to Florida.
00:10:01
Speaker
Um, so I'm ready for that. Um, yesterday me and a friend went, um, for another run. Yay. That was, that was fine. Um, we're not going to go to that place again though. oh Because like when you first walk in, it smells so bad, like so incredibly bad. And then there were a bunch of people there were like a bunch of people there playing like frisbee golf or whatever that thing is called. Oh yes. I was like, I don't want to get hit by a frisbee. Yeah, as someone who has played frisbee golf, yeah, stay away from frisbee golf spaces.
00:10:41
Speaker
So we're going to look for another place. Hopefully we'll find somewhere good. um And then we went to Denny's after a great little, great little combo. You go work out and then you go to Denny's. Yeah, absolutely. And then she got me a birthday gift and and she made the biggest mistake of her freaking life. I don't know, what did she, why? What did she do? Because she got, she, um, she told me that she was going to some spa yesterday after like we were done running. I was like, okay, cool. That's fine. And then I told her, um, I'm not doing anything for my birthday. I'm just going to just probably go swimming. My entire family pretty much is going to be gone. Yeah. So it was like, I was just hanging out at my like aunt's house. Maybe my grandpa is not going anywhere. Like maybe I'll just like get some food with him and go swimming. Hmm.
00:11:33
Speaker
And she was like, cool. And then, um, she was like, do you want to go to a spot? I was like, uh, yeah, sure. And so she literally opened up the app or whatever, open up the website. And she was like, here, pick a service that you want to do. And I was like, okay, I'll get a facial. And she was like, okay, pick a day. And I picked a day. It was like $115 and she paid for it for me. And she was like, okay, so I'm going to go get a facial tomorrow. And, um, And she was like, happy birthday. And I was like, thank you. And I was like, you know, you made the biggest mistake of your life though, right? Because now I'm going to have to one up you. yeah did you like Did you forget who I am? Right. Did you forget? You've been friends for 10 plus years and now. Well, even more for you guys is like, it's been like 20 years for us. Yeah.
Axe Throwing & Water Park Adventures
00:12:23
Speaker
20 years for you guys. Oh yeah. She made a, she made a big mistake. Yeah. Well you you have, you have some time. Yeah.
00:12:31
Speaker
You have some time. She's going to get the best birthday because she's ever gotten in her entire freaking life. And she doesn't know it yet. She doesn't know yet. She doesn't know yet. I won't tell her. I won't give her any inclination. But yeah, she has set off a war. Yeah, she has. And now until the end of time, you will just have to keep on up being each other. Yeah. I told her one day, if she tries to keep this up with me, that I will pay for an all expense pay trip somewhere for her. I'm that petty. Don't try to one up me. Yeah. Yeah. And it'll be one of those, like, it'll be like her 35th birthday and he won't, she'll just get like a letter in the mail that's all like,
00:13:13
Speaker
take like months in advance being like, take these days off, don't worry about anything, you won't even have a name signed. no is it ah Uber Black pulls up the day of the the trip, takes her to an airport first class. Yeah, don't play with me. Someone picks her up at the wherever she's going from the airport, takes her to her hotel. It's all inclusive. If giving is my love language, don't try to play with me. Don't try to play with me. Yeah. Yeah. This is this is now on until one of you dies. Yeah. And even then, it'll probably be like bringing the best flowers to your grave. To your grave. and he Yeah. Yeah. So she's she unknowingly started a war. And that's all it makes me know. Really excited to get my first facial though. Yeah, I know. I'm excited for you. Yeah, because that was like like I was looking for the stuff.
00:14:09
Speaker
And I was like, oh, oh, a nice hour long facial. That sounds fine. Let's do that. And then I also think I also have a movie to go to after that. So it's going to be really great. Oh, you're going to do a movie after too? Mm hmm. It's a secret movie. So I may or may not. I may or may not actually go. I should say, yeah. But I haven't lined up. That's all that matters. That's all that matters. And then I can just do like a quick little rundown of a couple of things that Kelly and I did while I was out there with her. We went axe throwing. I'm really good at axe throwing. And can I just say, in my defense, our board was kind of messed up? It was messed up. Because it was there was one point where where Jordan threw the axe, and it literally just took out a chunk of the board. It did.
00:15:05
Speaker
like i couldn't even throw my axe in that area and like things kept appearing in that area and I was like, I'm just gonna have to take that out because there is no way my the axe is gonna stick. Yeah, but it's really fun when you randomly find out that you're good at something. It is, it is, because like you didn't think you would be or like you don't even have like a ah measurement to know you'd be good at something. it's something you kind of just have to do and you just find out. Yeah, you find out when you do it.
00:15:36
Speaker
So if I ever end up in a horror movie or anything, one of my special skills could be, I'm good at X rowing. Yeah. It's that thing that like you're with your group of friends or like people who you kind of know in the apocalypse and they're like, does anybody yet like know how to fight? And you're like, I know how to throw axes. I know how to throw axes with very good precision.
00:16:05
Speaker
I know it's not great to have a fighting skill where you need to release your weapon, but... Right, and then retrieve said weapon. And then retrieve said weapon, but I feel like axe rowing is one that's okay. It's not the worst. It's not like me shooting arrows and then there's a chance that the person could be fine. If I throw an axe at you and it sticks to your body, it's gonna be pretty bad. Yeah, because it's got to be bad when it hits you, and then it's going to be bad when I pull it back out. Yeah. Yeah. So also, you can hire me for birthday parties. I don't know. Do you want? We can. We can. Next rower. Next rower. Like I can do like the thing where like you stand in front of the board and I just throw it and like. Oh my God. Miss you. Like I can do that. Right. Right. Of course. Yeah. You'd be really fun. Just like hit me up. Let me know.
00:17:02
Speaker
Yeah, I have a good rate.
00:17:06
Speaker
Oh my goodness. And then we also went to a water park and it was like a hundred and something degrees and I burnt my feet so bad. Yeah. our Yeah. We were, I don't know what we were thinking, no but we didn't take like our slippers or anything. When we went to rides, we were just like, Oh yeah, no, we can just walk on the on the ground. No. you Because you would think at this place where it's regularly over 100 degrees, they would have like treated grant like treated ground or concrete or something. Or more shade for providers. Or more shade to to like you know not burn people's feet. right No, we literally would run from puddle to puddle. Yes.
00:17:50
Speaker
of water so that we and then people around us would notice that we did have like our shoes out or something and then they would like move further so that we could stand in shade. And then at the end of the day, we go to this last slide. It's like a matte slide. Yeah. And I had to literally take the hugest L going up these stairs. I was burning my feet so badly that the woman behind me was like, it's okay, we're almost there. we're
00:18:28
Speaker
like That's how you know you bet. The people around you know also know that you've also made a huge mistake. Huge mistake, yes. Because like it was one thing for the people in line to like tell us let like or like move forward and like gesture at the shade for us to stand in. This was the longest stretch we've seen with without like water on the floor or a shade that we could stand in. I had my slippers on, but Jordan had shoes so he can bring them up. um But yeah, there was there was one point where, like, I would scout ahead to see like how far I'd be like, come on, just up this, just put the thing up there. And then the lady might. Yeah, we've got this much left. It's OK. You got it. I it was a literal torture. Like I was like, it was bad. And I couldn't like go back down. Like it would have just been just as bad to go back down. I was like, you had to go. I have to keep going. It was awful. Yeah.
00:19:26
Speaker
And then I also pulled my back going down. That's like, it was just awful. So it was a racing slide and Jordan being the person that he is, he has to be first. So he shocked himself into the, um, the slide, but it was like a weird, there was a hump that you kind of had to like lean up against that you could rest your kind of your, your, I don't know what to call it. You're a little. Your little mat thingy. Your little mat on. So like for kids, it didn't matter. They could like fully lay on it. But youre if you're an adult, it kind of came to like mid thigh, at least for me. Yeah. So he was even lower for you. And so yeah, he literally chucked himself into this, into the slide and hurt his back. Yeah. And then I was done after that. I was like, let's go. who but Let's go.
00:20:13
Speaker
Yeah, at that point it was super hot, our feet were hurting, so we were like, yeah, we need to let it go. Yeah, we had ridden almost everything. I was like, let's just go. Yeah, I was disappointed that the lazy river wasn't working. Yeah, that sucked. That sucked. Like, I don't know what the deal was, but I was very sad. But yeah, water parks. If you're in hot areas, make sure there is plenty of shade. Yes, please. Plenty of shade. More mistors maybe. More mistors.
00:20:47
Speaker
yeah just do something. because None of this burning feet, please. No. and i And we weren't the only people there who didn't have shoes. so yeah Yeah, just to make a point where we weren't like the dumb ones that looked at everyone wearing their shoes around the thing and were like, we're different. Yeah, there were other people who didn't have shoes, including children. So like let's do something about this. yeah Let's think about it. Luckily, it was kind of an overcast. it like It would have been so much worse if it wasn't. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was it was cloudy in some areas. So that definitely helped. Yeah. But um I'd rate it a. A five out of 10 trip. Yeah, let's not even talk about that bathroom. Let's not read it a five out of 10 trip. Yeah. um And then.
Review: A Quiet Place Day One
00:21:43
Speaker
Oh, well I went to go see A Quiet Place Day One. Oh, yeah? Good? um Yeah, I enjoyed it. um I do need to tell you, though, I would not want to live through that at all. Oh, yeah. Like, take me out, catch me screaming the outro to heat it before I die. Like, I'm not living through that. I mean, yeah, yeah i can I will probably never see the movie because I've never seen the other ones. But yeah, how do you live? My will to live has never been that strong. Very true, though.
00:22:26
Speaker
Whatever. um um Yeah, but no. No, no, no, no. The second I saw those giant alien thingies, whatever they are, I didn't know like. They're and out they're indestructible, like y'all are shooting them and they're not dying. Take me out. Take me out. Yeah. Also, they have the lamest like fear in the entire world or fear, um obstacle, whatever.
00:23:01
Speaker
Why are these things afraid of water? You came to a- They're afraid of water? Yeah, I was like, you came to a planet that's like 80% water. Why? Right. Right. I don't understand. Why would you do that? That's so crazy that they're afraid of water. Also, what is their purpose? Like what are they here for? Right. Right. What's up, man? What do you what what are you doing doing here? What are you doing here? But yeah, I enjoyed the movie though. That's good. So, that was good. Okay, well, I guess we can start talking about this movie.
Exploring Tron: Legacy
00:23:40
Speaker
Yay! Let's get this over with.
00:23:46
Speaker
Quick disclaimer, it took me two watches to finish this movie. Really? It took me two watches. Wow! I was like... I was like, I need a break. And I took a whole day break. I was like, I can't. Okay. And I feel like as a child, I used to like this movie, so I don't know what happened. But what happened? Yeah. It's a good movie. We'll talk about it. So we opened in 1989 with Kevin Flynn telling his son Sam about
00:24:23
Speaker
this thing called ah The Grid, which is a digital world where disc battles and light cycle races happen, and how he, along with a program named Tron, built a new grid where users, humans, um and programs could live in harmony, and that he built a program of himself called Clue to run things while he's not there. He's like, can' he can't be there all times. may ah Kevin then goes off to work and promises to go to the arcade with Sam the next day, but he never returns. Can we quickly talk about the Resident Evil looking style? ah The de-aging? Yes. I literally had a note right under this. I was like, this de-aging, has it always looked this bad? I know. When I was when i first watched it, i like I understood why they kept the camera angle where it was, because I'm like, yeah, they they're, yeah.
00:25:23
Speaker
Like I get it. Like they can't show the actor because he is not the age he was, but he was in 18 and 89. Yeah. And then they did the shot where he's leaving the house and you get a full face shot. I was like, Oh, this is video game mechanics. it So bad. This is a video game grade, like probably for the, for the time. I don't remember when this movie came over for the time. It might've been better, but now that we have 2011, maybe. Now that we have the the technology that we do, I look looked at that and I'm like, ooh, yeah. Ooh, it doesn't hit Okay. Yeah, that was kind of rough. It was very, very rough. he His skin is so smooth. It's so smooth. And then the the skin around the mouth, whenever you do it, it's weird.
00:26:14
Speaker
yeah It's giving Call of Duty graphics. It is, it really is. And so um the game the game company that Kevin owns is seized from his partner Allen Bradley by the board because he believes that Kevin is not missing but is exploring a new world and everybody's like,
Sam's Action-Packed Misadventures
00:26:35
Speaker
that's crazy. Sure. um And so we go forward to present day, which is 2010. And Sam is riding his motorcycle and gets chased by a cop, but somehow gets away and sneaks into the company and come to rule. He releases the new update of can com software for free before it launches. From what I gathered, this software they're releasing is like the equivalent of releasing like Microsoft Office for free. Yeah, you know how you you know how Microsoft Office used to be free and then
00:27:14
Speaker
Or not free, but like you pay for it and you just got to use it for the rest of your life. Yeah. And how now you have to pay for it monthly. Right. I feel like that's like the equivalent of what he did. And he was just like, no, I just released it. And so Sam then parachutes off the building for no reason. No reason. Also, you have to be at a certain altitude for those to work. Yeah. He was not that high. He wasn't that high. He most definitely would have just splatted onto the earth and died. Absolutely. Absolutely. And he did this he also does for no reason, because literally almost as soon as he lands, he gets arrested. Yeah. He's caught. Yeah. And so Alan, who still works as a consultant at INCOM stops by Flynn's house when he gets home.
00:28:08
Speaker
and tells him that he has paid he's been paged by his father's office at the arcade and Sam tells him he doesn't care but then he ends up going to the arcade anyway yeah um at the arcade Sam is pulled into a large computer in the basement and is sent onto the grid
00:28:34
Speaker
Uh, once he lands on the grid, he's captured because he's believed to be a program without a purpose. Yeah. He sent to the games where he is made to fight a program named Rizzler. And when he starts to bleed, everyone realizes that he is a user and he's taken to Clue. Can I just say I do miss the era of practical effects.
00:29:00
Speaker
Like the suits are are actually suits that they're wearing instead of and CGI suits. Yeah. I do miss practical suits too. but I just know for the actors, practical suits probably suck. up Oh, yeah. Practical suits, especially something like that, where there's like LED d involved too. I know it's hot. I know it's hot hot. It's restrictive. Once you're in it, you're probably in it for the rest of your workday. I have a movie thought about that, but yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. No, for sure. I mean, I can't, I can't imagine, but it it adds a little something. It looks better. It looks better.
00:29:40
Speaker
And so, when Sam meets Clue, he thinks it's his father and Clue kinda just goes along with it. he I love how he thought that that was his dad because he literally looks the same. Yeah, exactly the same. Like what about that screamed your father? right Does that make sense to you? Right, like you aged, but he did not. He didn't age. i't yeah
00:30:04
Speaker
Um, but yeah, Clue goes along with this cause he really just wants to find Kevin. And so he sends Sam to the light cycle arena where Clue almost kills Sam before he saved by a program named Cora. Uh, Cora then takes Sam to his father who was hiding outside of the grade, which I don't understand how that works, but.
Digital World & Discovery of ISOs
00:30:32
Speaker
Whatever. and Yeah, I don't know. Like, you're in the same program. I don't understand how there's an outside of the grid, but. I mean, I guess it could make sense. I'm not sure. um Like, I guess i guess you could think of it as like a designated area. And then he's living outside of the designated area. But they're in the same whatever. I don't i don't care. I don't care. And so, um, When they get there, um Kevin tells Sam that he was working to create a perfect computer system with Clue and Tron before they discovered a series of isomorphic algorithms algorithms called ISOs that will one day save the world or whatever. thing but he that He never goes into and to specifics.
00:31:24
Speaker
and to have them is this It's basically they're like, because they're like perfect. Is there, they there's no illness. they kind of know they They put their programs like, but their programs doesn't make any sense. He's like, yeah, they kind of just manifested themselves. And I'm like, okay, that sounds like a virus to me, but you know, they don't think about it too hard. Don't think about it too hard. I think that if random software shows up into your program, you might be a little wary of that. But you know, he thought it was cool. And it's like the ah the whole U2 album being on your iPhone. Yeah, kind of like that. No one knows how it got there. But we but it's there, and you can't delete it. You can't delete it. So you just got to kind of got to go with it. Right.
00:32:17
Speaker
um Clue, on the other hand, did not like this, and so he commits genocide. Yeah, straight up. He just kills all the Isos. He's like, I don't like them. Yeah, they're weird and I don't like them, so we're just gonna get rid of them. We're just gonna get rid of them. um He also kills Tron and tries to kill Kevin, who gets trapped in the grid as the portal closes. And you can only open the portal from the outside, which is design flaw. um yeah And so he's trapped in there. ah Kevin then tells Sam that he can't i get out now, even with the portal open, because if Clue gets his disc, he will use it to kill every imperfection on the grid, and then he'll try to go out into the real world. and
00:33:10
Speaker
He'll see how imperfect Earth is and who knows what he'll do. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, what can he do? Well, as a program, he could probably get into everything. I mean, sure. Sure. But, um, other than that, so he takes down our technology. That wouldn't be awful. Truly awful. But other than that, what? I mean, he could then take over the world if you think about it the way like he could send himself to like different parts of the world and just take over. OK, but like once he he's on planet Earth, he has to like abide by the rules of humanity. Like he can't use his light cycles out there. He can't use. Yeah, I'm more thinking of it. I'm thinking of it more as like if you stay at a program
00:34:07
Speaker
ah but like came out into the world as a program in like like a computer or something. And then just took over all technology. That's how I'm thinking of it. I mean, sure. That would be truly awful, but like not anything we couldn't solve or get past, but what, okay, cool. I mean, that's how i let's just keep clue where he is. but yeah Let's just do that. um When Sam tells Kevin about the page that he got, he's like, I didn't send that.
Zeus, Betrayal & Clue's Discovery
00:34:42
Speaker
yeah He's like, he's like, Clue probably did that. How he did that, who knows? um And they shouldn't try to leave because this is all part of Clue's plan and Sam refuses to not try. And so he leaves after Korra tells him to find someone named Suze.
00:35:03
Speaker
Um, Cora also tells Sam that Kevin can't kill Clue because it would kill them both. How that works. Who knows? No idea. Isn't that just like taking a part of yourself back into yourself? I don't understand how that would kill you, but you know, it would. And so Sam goes out to the grid and Kevin decides to go after him.
00:35:30
Speaker
ah Sam is taken to a man named Caster, who is also Zeus. He does that cliche thing of pretending to be the second in command, which I think is really really dumb and I don't understand how people fall for that.
00:35:49
Speaker
like, how which Fast and the Furious movie do they do this in? It's, it's also in one of the Fast and the Furious movies. I'm just like, this is, oh. It's past seven, I don't know. It might be seven or eight or something like that. Yeah, I won't know. It's the one where, it's the one after Lady died. Whatever that one is. Whatever that one is. Yeah, right. But yeah, the whole the whole thing is like, you're actually the boss, but you pretend to be like the boss's right hand man. And so you're like, everything has to go through me. And then I'll tell yeah I'll tell the boss is reclusive. He doesn't want to deal with this. So tell me and I'll tell him and I'll tell him. I'm just like, how and then I'll go see him and I'll come back with more instructions. How do people fall for that?
00:36:44
Speaker
I know. People need to see things to believe that it's happening a lot of the time. Like immediately I'd be like, okay, so you're the one in charge then. Right, exactly. Show me this boss. Yeah.
00:37:00
Speaker
um And yeah, Zeus ends up just selling them out. Yeah. almost immediately too. Like he didn't even try to like spread this out. He just almost immediately calls the clues like army or whatever. Police, whatever. Yeah. He tried for like two seconds when he's all like, yeah, who do you need to see? Oh, I'm Zeus. It's like, and now what do you need? So I could tell everyone else.
00:37:33
Speaker
And then while all of this is happening, Clue somehow finds Kevin's hideout and Kevin obviously isn't there. Yeah. And then we get a flashback of how Clue was created and some more terrible de-aging. this Yeah, who I think there's only one shot in this like whole movie that I was like that's kind of convincing and then He would move and I'm like, oh, yeah While Sam is being like attacked by police or whatever those things are Cora comes to help Sam to get out of Zeus's Club or whatever
00:38:21
Speaker
and loses an arm in the process, and so Kevin has to come in and rescue them. All he does is touch the floor and the lights go out, but that... I don't know what power this van has over the city, but it's a lot. Yeah, it's a lot. And then that somehow, like, stops everything and they're just able to just get up and leave. Which, I mean, if you had that power... anyway. Right, anyway, anyway, um... And so in the process, he ends up losing his disc and Zeus collects it. They then decide to make a run for the portal before Clue can do anything. like If we just get out and like erase the ah the program, Clue can do anything. And so on the way to the portal, Kevin works on Korra and it's revealed that she is an ISO.
Cora's Dream of the Real World
00:39:15
Speaker
How he didn't know that, don't know. I don't know. And then Kevin and Sam catch up and have a heart to heart while Clue sends out programs to catch them and kills Zeus after getting the disc, which like, duh, Zeus. Yeah. Like, you're no use to me anymore. Why would I keep you alive? Right.
00:39:37
Speaker
ah When Cora awakens, her arm magically heals back and she tells of how Kevin saved her and how she longs to be in the real world so she can see things and do things and like feel the sun on her skin. Live life. Live, laugh, and love. Exactly. The original live, laugh, love girl. The original live, laugh, love. love um They then find out that the shuttle they're on is carrying like all of the missing programs that Clue is planning on repurposing. And he wants to like make them into like his own personal army.
00:40:22
Speaker
um And so to get away Cora distracts Rizzler who follows her and this allows Sam and Kevin to get away. And she gets captured. And when Rizzler goes to capture Korra, Kevin realizes that Rizzler is Tron. How? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know, man. I don't know. He just has connection with Tron, dude. Yeah, and why did it take him so long to realize? I don't know. Because this wasn't their first encounter together. Rizzler was the one who took his disc in that club, so I don't understand how he didn't know.
00:41:02
Speaker
I mean, maybe it's one of those things that, like, you expect this person to be dead so there is no way that it could be that person. You know what I mean? Yeah. like I guess, Kylie. I guess. And so, Clue now has Kevin's disc and he takes it up to his ship and starts using it to, like, rewrite the grid or whatever. And he also wants to use it to take over the real world. Um, but then Sam steals it back while Clue is monologuing. And he also- You caught me monologuing! You caught me monologuing! He literally was monologuing. Like he was literally sitting there in front of those mindless drones talking about random yapping, just yapping away.
00:41:50
Speaker
for like seemingly like 30 plus minutes because... oh yeah you yeah he Sam is able to get on this ship, fight off like seven people, grab the disc, grab Korra and leave before anyone notices. He notices, yeah. Kalu loves a moment. He loves to speak. He will yak. Yes, the ultimate yapper. Ultimate yapper. And so, yeah, like I said, Sam gets the disc, gets quarterback, while Kevin gets a ship for them and they all get on the ship.
Climactic Showdown & Escape
00:42:31
Speaker
They're chased by Clue and his men, so Sam shoots at them while Cora flies. They're able to kill all of them, but Tron and Clue, yeah, I'm not calling him Rizzo anymore. It's Tron. It's Tron. We all know it's Tron. But Tron and Clue are still,
00:42:50
Speaker
you know, going after them. But then yeah Tron suddenly remembers who he is and sacrifices himself to kill Clue. But they both somehow survive this crash. I don't know how indestructible these people are. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. we also But also these people seem very fragile because like in the games and whatever the disc literally kills them and then there was one guy who fell through a hole and it kills him. So I'm like, Are there, like, levels of indestructibility? I don't... I was just about to say how other, like, the other people that were chasing them, when they fell into the water, they died. But when Tron fell into the water, he just fell into the water and started sinking. Exactly. So I'm like, it are there levels to this indestructibility? There has to be, because otherwise it doesn't make any sense. Right. And so, yeah, Tron falls into the quote-unquote water and
00:43:47
Speaker
He doesn't even die. He just falls into the water. yeah And then Clue ends up taking Tron's light vehicle and like going after them again. ah When they get to the portal, Clue is somehow already there.
00:44:07
Speaker
You teleported. He teleported or something. And so Kevin tries to talk some sense into him, but he won't listen. And so when he tries to take his disc, um He gets it and then it turns out that Kevin and Cora switched discs.
00:44:28
Speaker
And so Kevin reintegrates with Clue and they both die as Cora and Sam go back into the real world with Sam's, with Kevin's disc. Yes. Really fun. Really fun, really fun moment. Did they destroy the entire grid? Yes, but that's a whole nother story for another day. Yeah, that's fine. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. um Back in the arcade, Sam backs up the grid on a hard drive, but also not a hard drive.
Sam Returns & Takes Over
00:45:02
Speaker
I don't know what it was called. It was like a little, it was like a little disc thingy.
00:45:11
Speaker
Yeah, I don't i don't know what it's called. I just call it a hard drive. Yeah, I just call it a hard drive. Yeah, essentially, that's what it is essentially is what it is. And then he turns off the machine that has like the grid. So I think the grid actually might have been like completely wiped. He then tells Alan that he will be taking over in calm and that Alan will be the new chairman of the board.
00:45:39
Speaker
Does Sam have the, like, knowledge to run a business. Probably not. Probably not. Because, you know, he's just been ah a member of the board for the past, however many years. Yeah. Is honorary, essentially. and Yeah. And he dropped out of school. silly And yeah, he dropped out of school. He doesn't. Also, he would need the whole board's approval for this. Yeah, like I know he has like a majority of like the shares or whatever. the shares like So he falls a little more weight, but still. The word still needs to vote. They still need to vote. I don't think they want a 27 year old kid who only comes once a month into the company, who dropped out of school and then
00:46:28
Speaker
You know, yeah, I don't and then in his free time likes to pull pranks on said company like releasing their most valuable um product for free online. Right? Like it's insane. Insane, but you know. He's white, so they'll probably let him do it. you know Yeah, that is true. um Sam then drives off of Cora as she gets to experience a sunset for the first time. oh
00:46:59
Speaker
And that's the end of the movie. Yeah. Okay, Kelly. Okay. Wow. Why did I just mix? Whoa. I just mixed okay and Kelly. I was like, oh, Kelly. I was like, oh, what happened? Okay, Kelly. um Are you ready to go over our movie facts this week? Yes. Okay, so the crowd voices during the disc battle at the beginning of the movie are the voices of the audience during the panel for this film at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con. What? Yep, so if you were, I don't know which area they did, maybe Hall H, if this was Hall H, if we were at Hall H. And they asked you to stomp and chant and scream
00:47:48
Speaker
You're in this movie. yeah That is so cool. I love when people do that. I'm being honest. Next movie fact. Early drafts of the script did not feature the role of Alan Bradley. um It was only after public outcry by the man who played Alan Bradley, Bruce Boxlittner, that he was added to the script. Really? Yeah. And his performance proved so popular that he went on to make public appearances as Alan Bradley to promote the film and return to play the role of Tron and Tron uprising a show that happened, I think, Disney XD in 2012. Yeah.
00:48:38
Speaker
which like Disney XD. What a moment. What a moment. I forgot that was a thing. i I am so old that I remember when Disney XD was tuned Disney like I'm an old man at this point. I've been through the trenches. I've seen things. We've been through every iteration of of Disney. Yeah, pretty much. We were we were here when ABC was a thing. And then when they switched over to Freeform and we're all like, who who? I still to this day think Freeform is the worst name of the TV channel ever. Yeah, but I get that they wanted to like rebrand.
00:49:22
Speaker
yeah i get it because they weren't very family friendly in their shows but we we could have come up with a better name yeah or we could have just kept it all separate and had abc in free form yeah but whatever next movie is that um shooting for this film lasted only 64 days but post-production due to the heavy special effects required 68 weeks
00:49:50
Speaker
That makes sense, but ah having filming be only 68 days, she said? 64, but yeah. 64? That's crazy. That is crazy. That's crazy. Okay. That doesn't seem like enough time. It doesn't, but they did it. Now it's time for the last movie, Fed, and it's about the suits. Ooh, okay. So the suits worn by the actors proved to be problematic on set. Every single one of them was fitted with a small lithium battery that powered the circuitry for the lights. But each battery only lasted 12 minutes. ah That's it? Yep. So in order to maximize the output, the light strips had to be switched on right before each take and then turned off immediately afterwards.
00:50:42
Speaker
wow that's crazy the circuitry inside the suits was also very fragile so the actors could not sit down between takes and had to recline upward using boards no no you're like lying you're like lying on those conversion tables you're just like you're just like oh great i'm at an incline will my feet ever get to rest no but you know it's okay but that's all right we're only here for 64 days All right, I suffer from my art. Okay, Kelly, now it's time for the question. Is this movie iconic?
00:51:21
Speaker
aye I'm gonna say no, but I liked the movie. I liked the... Okay, I don't. I know you don't. But have you seen the original Tron? No. Okay. I've seen the original Tron, and then seeing Tron Legacy, it's just so beautiful. That's probably how they envisioned the actual Tron, the original Tron, to be, but they just didn't have the technology to have it be this cool. I think it's just cool based on the fact that how the original Tron looks and works, and then seeing this and that person. I just think it's really cool.
00:52:06
Speaker
okay I unfortunately did not like it for the following reasons. The dialogue was very cringey. Very Most of the special effects were good. The de-aging, awful. But I feel like we haven't mastered that until recently, if I'm being honest. True. um And then the the fight scenes were bad.
00:52:37
Speaker
the like that fight scene in Zeus is like club or whatever it looked really bad yeah it wasn't great so yeah I had to I had to also there were a lot of plot holes there were some not a lot but like there were plot holes but most most Most movies will have buttholes, but like i just yeah I just couldn't shake them, I'm sorry. I was not really enjoying myself. Like I said, I had to watch this movie in two sittings. I will give a round of applause to, his name is Michael Sheen, right? That man who played Zeus. A round of applause to him, doing his best David Bowie impression. I really love that for him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:53:28
Speaker
I mean, Michael Sheen, he's got the range. yeah He's got the range. I feel like this was around the same time he was playing. um He was in Twilight. But I didn't feel like he was. I think this might have been and think this might been right after, no? Was it? I mean, this was before. Was it? Either way, I don't feel like he was playing his character from Twilight. Oh no, yeah, this was in the middle, this was in the middle. It felt different than his character from Twilight, so that was really nice. um But yeah, not not for me, I'm sorry. Yeah, fair. But it's okay.
00:54:16
Speaker
um Tron still lives, we're getting a new one, I think next year. Oh, yeah, that's right. That's right. That's right. I'll probably go see it anyway, even though. Yeah, even though I'm not a fan of Tron in this moment, I'll go see the new one. Why not? I mean, you got to go for the aesthetic and the vibe. I got to go for the aesthetic and
Hypothetical Clubbing in Vegas
00:54:43
Speaker
the music. Great. Great. Yeah. I'm not really a big fan of like EDC. I'm more of a house girl.
00:54:51
Speaker
but like some EDC songs just pop off or EDM songs, sorry, my bad. Yeah. Which leads us into our recommendations. What are your recommendations this week, Kelly? Alrighty, so I've got three recommendations. First one is, well, the first two are going to be songs. So the first one is Deep Down by Alok, Ella Eyre, Kenny Dope, and Never Doll. Okay. It's got Housey vibes. It's a good song. Love it. Make you move and shake a little bit. My second recommendation is A Ladies by ah Travis Porter and Tyga. ah hu yeah Okay now ladies, girl you know you know you bad. Yeah.
00:55:45
Speaker
There are there are two songs that if I ever heard in a club I would absolutely lose it and this is one of them. Uh-huh. I love says that as if she regularly goes to clubs. Oh, all the time. time you know All the time. Every weekend yeah I'm staying out until 4 a.m. Exactly. As a 27 year old. I completely haven't only been to one club in my entire life. o yeah I've been, okay, I'm into a jazz club. about That's not a club, Kelly. I'm into a jazz club. It's not a club. And then I've been to an event at the club. Does that count? No, cause I've also been to like a couple of those. So no, that does not count. Okay, dang it. I mean, I walked by them and heard the songs and like, viilla a yo and then like, ah so that just means that Kelly and I have to go to Vegas. Oh God.
00:56:43
Speaker
we can do it we can do it i did it if i can do it you can do it and then we'll just let all right well the first person who stops us on the street asking if we want to go to a club will say yes oh my gosh we'll get on the guest list and then we'll go do we have to flirt our way in no if we didn't have to i didn't have to flirt we didn't have to flirt our way in when we weren't they literally just stopped us on the street asked us if we wanted to go to a club They say, I know, but if I don't want it, but if I don't want to spend $60 on a drink, I'm going to probably have to start with somebody. Oh no, we're going to have to pregame hard, hard, very hard. Cause I will not be buying drinks ah that will not be happening again. Sorry. My friend, he will like, depending on where he goes, sometimes clubs have a, you can leave and come back in kind of deals. Cause like you have a stand, he will go up to his car.
00:57:37
Speaker
drink a shot or like pre-buy like truly's and whatever, drink a few and then go back in. As he should because, no. Entrepreneurship y'all. He thinks ahead. And I love that for him. never Never again will I pay that much for drinks every, no. Yeah, no, no. Also sometimes is the the drinks in the city be very expensive. So yeah he's like, no, I'm good. And I'm all like, you know what? I get it. I understand. But anyway, sorry. um My third recommendation is the new D&D campaign on Dropout, which is called Never Stop Blowing Up. The first episode came out recently.
00:58:20
Speaker
um I love the concept, so I can't wait to see where they go with it. I tried watching one of Kelly's little D and&D things while I was at her house. I was so confused. I did not understand what these people were doing at all. Yeah, but also it was the second season. So like there there was no context. But like, yeah, I was just sitting there watching them talk. And I was just like, what are these people talking about? Yeah, also, it was it was felt because I'm trying to catch up. It was filmed during the pandemic. So they were doing it over zoom and not at the table like they usually do.
00:59:01
Speaker
yeah that that's a good little thing for kelly love that for her that's not that's that's not for me one of our friends is getting into it too who uh you weren't running with her this is she oh okay good for her love that for her love that she's found a new interest yeah that's all for me okay well i thought kelly was gonna have one of mine so i have four oh which oh no yeah i know what you're talking about i specifically left that off my first recommendation is dopamine by normani
00:59:44
Speaker
Um, it's actually a

00:59:46
Speaker
very good album. Those first two songs are excellent. Big Boy and Still. Yup. Yup. Yup. We need to make one of those songs a single as soon as possible. like Yeah. As soon as, but let's drop Candy Paint as a single. I don't mind Candy Paint, but let's, let's drop it. Let's make Big Boy and Still a single as soon as possible. Thank you. Um, my second recommendation is the Tron Legacy Soundtrack. It's really good. Yeah. Um, is it Daft Punk? Yeah. Yeah. They put their foot into this music. And I really hope. I mean, they usually do. I really hope they're back for the new Tron movie. Oh, they have to be, or they have to get some other like classic EDM.
01:00:38
Speaker
and Please. Um, my third recommendation is the boys mind remix by ordinary grande featuring brandy and Monica. Yeah. I specifically left that off my list. yeah Um, they did their thing on that. They really did. I love it. I've listened to it probably about 20 times at this point now. It's really good. Very good.
01:01:11
Speaker
Um, Brandy and Monica are getting their, their dues as they should. As they should, as they should. I'm more, I'm more of a brandy person, but love you too, Monica. Love you too. Um, but yeah. And then Ariana Grande is just collecting these features. Like they are infinity stones. Oh yeah. And I love that for her. Like she got not only. Brandy and Monica for features this era, but she also got Mariah Carey. Yeah. Did you see that, that, that, um, that chart that came out recently, like the the artists with the most hits in a, like in a decade? No. Mariah obviously owned the nineties with 14 as she should. Yeah. And I'm like, girl, that's more than one every year. She makes excellent music. So I'm not surprised.
01:02:11
Speaker
Yeah. In fact, she should have more. Right. Give her more. But yeah, I love that song. Everyone can listen to it. My last recommendation is Megan by Megan Thee Stallion. Her new album. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Otakuha Girl is the song. Yeah. The song. On my first listen, I heard that song. I was like, this is it.
01:02:43
Speaker
Yeah. Love her. Love Megan Thee Stallion. Listen to this album like three times already.
01:02:51
Speaker
Love you, girl. Love you. um If you happen to do a second leg of the tour, I will go see you again. Oh. I contemplated seeing you again when I got home because when I got the day I got home, you had a concert out here, but the tickets were too expensive. But Also, that was like gonna be a long day. That was a long day. I was up since 3.45 that morning. That was a very long day. But if you do a second leg and you come back out here, I will gladly go see you. Also, I can't wait because Kehlani is going on tour with Flo. Give me those dates so I know when that's happening, because I have to be there.
01:03:41
Speaker
yeah I have to be there, but this is a personal thing. There are some concerts I have to go to and that would be one of them. Yeah, there there are some artists that you just have to see. Do I have money for concert tickets? No. No, I have a three hundred and something dollar car registration bill sitting on my desk right here that I need to pay, but I'll make it work. I'll make it work somehow. I always do. Yeah, that's fine. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. I will be there. Don't don worry about how. We put almost everything on Afterpay now. Yeah. Afterpay or a credit card. Yeah. Yeah. Because did I book my flight to Florida on Afterpay? Yeah. Yeah. yeah who Did we know that was an option? No, but we did it. did it Who's going to stop me? Exactly.
01:04:40
Speaker
But yeah, um that's it for me. So thank you so much for listening. Don't forget to follow us on our social media. We have a Twitter and an Instagram. They're both at SY2I Podcast. Don't forget to send us your movie requests or your movie stories at our email, SY2IiPodcast.GMO.com. um Are you like Kelly? Do you enjoy this movie? Or are you like me? And you're just like, nah. And if you are like me, and you're like, nah, are you going to go see the new one? Right. That's the question. That's the question. Disney is obviously hurting for cash, because they keep making a million sequels. So are you going to go see them? Or prequels. Like, what is up with that Mufasa one? Oh, yeah. I didn't even look. I'm a Beyonce stand. I still have not seen that blanking movie. My brother went and saw it. And yeah, there's a reason why I haven't seen it either. I still haven't seen that movie. ah And I'm probably not going to go see this Mufasa movie.
01:05:37
Speaker
I'm not. and another But um I might be seated for the Moana sequel. I think I will. But I have a thing, though. They they have to get Lin-Manuel Miranda back for for the soundtrack, because if they try to get someone that kind of sounds like him, we're going to get a Wish soundtrack all over again. Oh, I watched Wish like two months ago. Who approved that? right i haven't seen it but i've seen all of the complaints i would have scrapped that movie i would of admit like no we can't release this it it was o you so yeah i need i will go see moana too no matter what but i i hope lindman moranda is doing the soundtrack like please i'm begging you i just really need
01:06:32

dis me to step it up says I need didnt need to step it up and I need Disney to to keep having the the music be good because I'm still thinking about how Phil Collins just bodied Tarzan by himself in multiple

languages. Like, I'm sorry. and we need to haven't been We haven't been the same since. Let's also start doing some original stories again. let's Yes, please. Because and I don't know about the rest of the world, but I feel like I'm one of the only people on this planet who thoroughly enjoyed... um What's the name of that movie? Luca. Ah, yes, I really enjoyed Luca. In fact, when they re-released it in theaters, I went and saw it in theaters. Yeah. I like Luca. Let's start making original stuff again.
01:07:22
Speaker
Because yes, I did go see Inside Out 2, but like I would love to see an original film. Yeah. Which by the way, Inside Out 2 just made a billion dollars. It's been out for like three weeks. What? Yeah, I literally just saw it on TikTok. It made a billion dollars already and it's only been like three weeks. But yeah. well I completely forgot. We're literally doing an outro.
