Lord Hinkie : All right, so yeah, at the 10 -10, I'm going to go with another pass -catching running back in Rashad White. To follow him, JCM goes at the 10 -11, so both the running backs from Washington go back to back. We got the Eagles defense going at the 10 -12. Bo Nix goes at the 11 -1, and Deebo Samuel goes. at the 11 -2. So one of the...

Lord Hinkie : slight bright sides of going quarterback and tight end early and punting a defense until probably your last pick. is a lot of these teams that are just filling up their starting rosters with quarterbacks and tight ends, and some of them even drafting a second quarterback or a second tight end, is that all of these running backs and wide receivers that you're trying to fill up your benches with, they're just not getting picked. So you're kind of getting the cream of the crop for these late -round picks, which are, you know, sometimes nasty. But at least you get a lot of dart throws at the nastiness and not having to, like, force yourself to draft a tight end or quarterback that you might not want because you just don't have one.

Lord Hinkie : So... I'm back up here again and... You know, I feel like my bench and my My running back and wide receiver rooms are pretty even. So I'm not really focusing on drafting one position over the other. I'm probably looking at just taking value wherever I see fit.

Lord Hinkie : I'm not really debating on drafting a backup quarterback. I have Joe Barrow, who I'm going to start every week besides his bye week, and I'll just pick up a quarterback to play him on his bye week. I'm not really debating on taking a backup tight end. I have Brock Bowers. I'm never going to start another tight end over Brock Bowers. besides it by week and i'll just figure it out weekend So I'm looking at running max. I'm looking at wide receivers. I guess I'll peek at a defense just to see if anything. intrigues me but

Lord Hinkie : I'm more of a... you know, I'm going to stream a defense week in and week out anyways. so So yeah, I'm looking at the running back position. I'm looking at the wide receiver position where don't want to take my dart throws Who do I think is going to be a good backup for me?

Lord Hinkie : Uh... I mean xavier worthy sounds intriguing here as like a late round boomer bus kind of player, but I already have uh rishi rice So I don't know if I would start two kenda city pass catchers I'm also looking at Matthew Golden, but at the same point, if I start him and Christian Watson.

Lord Hinkie : Don't love playing two Green Bay wide receivers at the same time. Aaron Jones is still here. And I know it would be three running backs in a row for me, but he feels like the best value. for my team right now, just taking another dart through our running back that I can maybe start in my second running back position. And just at that point, I'll probably be done drafting running backs.

Lord Hinkie : Casey Concepcion sounds fun, but then again, he's a pass catcher for the Browns.

Lord Hinkie : Michael Washington sounds fun as a backup for Ashton Gentry after he's been dealing with a high ankle sprain. That actually sounds like it might be the pick. Woody Marks is down here as well as a second running back in that committee. Behind David Montgomery who is definitely aging and does not catch passes

Lord Hinkie : I'm gonna draft Mike Washington to running back up running back for Ashton genti in the loss for the Las Vegas Raiders I am obviously I'm not hoping for an Ashton Gentry injury, but it did happen already in practice. He's dealing with the high ankle sprain, which are injuries that tend to reoccur themselves. pretty often. so I'm going to draft Mike Washington. If he ends up being a starter there, a couple games, I'll have a free starter running back for, you know.

Lord Hinkie : two or three games if Ashton Jetsy ends up being out. And even if he's not out, I think he has you know i don't think he necessarily has week -in and week -in value, but he'll just sit there on my bench, and he'll be a guy I can easily just drop if I need to pick up a quarterback or tight end for that week. so Mike Washington goes there at the 11 -3 as another dart throw for my running back position.

Lord Hinkie : After that, Casey Concepcion goes wide receiver for Cleveland. Matthew Golden at 11 -5. Aaron Jones finally goes at the 11 -6, a full round after Jordan Mason. Orande Gadsden goes at the 11 -7, which is another interesting player we can talk about there, Ninja. And then Romeo Dobbs goes at the 11 -8, and you are back up here at the 11.

Lord Hinkie : 9.

ninja: I think you had the right line of thinking at your pick because I was thinking the same thing. A lot of fun running backs to choose from, a lot of quality backups, guys who are going to see time.

ninja: early in the year in offenses. And I'm just going to keep it rolling. I'm going to take Woody Marks off the board here.

Lord Hinkie : Mm hmm.

ninja: I think... It's probably going to be a roughly 60 -40 split with David Montgomery and him. He's going to get all the third down work. all the pass catching opportunities. And what would you like to talk about with Aranda Gasson? I think that's phenomenal value at the 11 -7.

Lord Hinkie : I do think it's good value at the 11 -7, but they brought in David Njoku, and do we care?

ninja: No.

Lord Hinkie : We don't care about David and Tokyo.

ninja: I don't.

Lord Hinkie : Okay. And my other thing would be if he is the expected starter there to... expected to start and be the tight end one there. with the chargers, with the... you know, up and down, but mostly up season he had last year with, you know, a couple of touchdowns being a big pre PR guy. Shouldn't he be drafted higher than in redrafts and not falling all the way here to Leo 11 7

ninja: Well, it really depends how... You value him. uh In your redraft leads, I prefer Ronda Gadsden over a guy like Dalton Kincaid. I... prefer him over a guy like Isaiah Likely. I prefer him over a guy like Jake Ferguson, who went a full two rounds sooner.

ninja: So I'm happy moving him up into the seventh round.

Lord Hinkie : Okay.

ninja: Pretty easily. Uh... according to my rankings. and And let's be real, how often does Mike McDaniel use tight ends?

Lord Hinkie : Fair.

ninja: But after I selected Woody Marks, the Patriots defense went at the 11 -10. Dallas Goddard went at the 11 -11. The turn had the Ravens defense and Jared Goff coming off the board.

ninja: 12 -2 was Chris Rodriguez, and 12 -3 was Zach Charbonnet, which makes me real glad that I took Woody Marks when I did.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah.

ninja: And now it's... Take your best shot. Who's going to have the best week? uh, year in. I'm kind of looking at a guy like Khalil Shakir, Xavier Worthy. I think Rashid Shahid is very fun in this range.

ninja: I know I don't normally draft rookies and redraft, but my guy Denzel Boston is looking real handsome over there. even if it's in Cleveland. A guy.

ninja: maybe like a Trey Tucker. Do I like him in a Clint Kubiak offense? I think he could see an uptick. or You know... My guy, Brenton Strange.

ninja: It'd be rare I start two tight ends, but I like the upside of a Brenton Strange. as a flex spot, as a bi -week fill -in. But I am Going to take probably the most solidified guy on this board yet. It's Khalil Shakir.

ninja: I still think he'll be end up as a wide receiver one inch. in Buffalo even after they added DJ Moore. So that that's an easy pick for me.

ninja: Very safe. Maybe not as big of a swing as you would like, but... I like safe.

Lord Hinkie : Can't nothing wrong with Steve uh so after she Kill your sha secure when. 12 -4. Uh mark andrews went at the 12 5 xavier worthy went at 12 6 hunter henry went at 12 7 baker mayfield at the 12 8 and then tyler algier at the 12 9 and I am back up here with my Last positional pick before I draft the defense in my last round

Lord Hinkie : So I'm looking at wide receiver. I just drafted three running backs in a row, and I feel like my bench is pretty you know solid at the backup running back position. I'm looking at drafting another wide receiver here that is just you know another boom or bust guy.

Lord Hinkie : And I think I have the perfect one available to me, and that's Rashid Shahid. a wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks. Just resigned last season. I think he'll be in the exact same role he was last year, where he's just a field stretcher, punt returner, kick returner, stud. And hopefully, you know, if I end up having to play him one week, it's the week he catches a bomb touchdown. so Big boomer bust swing there with Rashid Shaheed at the 12 -10.

Lord Hinkie : Deshaun Stripling goes at the 12 -11. Tyrone Tracy goes at the 12 -12. Jalen Coker goes at the 13 -1, who I love. And Jordan Love goes at the 13 -2, which I also love. I think there's a lot of really good picks here in the last round. I think getting Jordan in Love as like the QB 13 or 14 or maybe even later at this point in the last round. is incredible value he's even going to back up Dak Prescott

Lord Hinkie : on that guy's specific team. and To be honest, I'd be totally okay starting Jordan Love as my QB1. yeah i mean it just goes to show you that there is definitely good value at the quarterback position late in rounds. I mean, Baker Mayfield went a couple picks before this. Jared Goff went in the round before this. like There is a lot of very good value at the quarterback position, and you don't necessarily need to force it. earlier on in drafts, but... With that being said, I am still pretty happy with my...

Lord Hinkie : Joe Barrow pick with my Jamar Chase stack. so With both of our last picks the only position we still have to draft is a defense. So whenever you know, we're in redraft leagues and at least my strategy for whenever I'm in redraft leagues and I have to draft the defense is I'm really only looking at the first two matchups for a defense because realistically I want a good week one production. If they can get me good week two production as well. I think that's a good pick. but

Lord Hinkie : I'm planning on streaming defenses matchup dependent week in and week out anyway. So I am just going to kind of work my way down the board and see if there is a team that's necessarily not playing a good offense in the first for one or two weeks. And I'm probably just going to draft them just to start.

Lord Hinkie : yeah And right now there's one. Very obvious that Pittsburgh Steelers defense they're gonna be playing Atlanta Week one, who it seems like right now Tua Tagovailoa is going to be the starting quarterback there. who you know One of his favorite things is throwing the ball to the other team. So.

Lord Hinkie : I'm looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers pick as My week one defense the Jacksonville Jaguars are also playing Cleveland who we all said earlier I think is going to be a pretty booty offense. So I think they might be a pretty good option for, you know, my week one defense.

Lord Hinkie : Chargers doesn't seem like a bad option playing Arizona. Just kind of looking at matchups for that first week. maybe even in the first two weeks, but I think I'm going to lean. Uh... Pittsburgh Steelers defense here just because you know, I like a lot of their names on defense. Obviously they have Right. Why am I blanking on TJ Watt's name?

Lord Hinkie : They have TJ Watt there. They have a lot of really good. line Linebackers, I think they're going to get a lot of sacks against that Atlanta offensive line. So I'm going to start my year with the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, and then honestly I'll probably drop them after week one because they're going to be playing New england England week two, and I just don't like that matchup for them. so For my week one defense, I'm going to be drafting. Pittsburgh Steelers D.

Lord Hinkie : And then after that, the Minnesota Vikings defense goes. Tajay Spears goes. Ja 'Cory Lane, wide receiver for Baltimore, goes. Your guy, Denzel Boston, goes in the final round. And then the Detroit Lions defense goes, and then Ninja. What defense? You look in the draft here to finish off this draft.

ninja: I can't believe I just got sniped. on a defensive position. I was going to take the Lions. Their first... Five weeks is the Saints. buffalo which isn't good but then the jets the panthers and then arizona I think I could.

ninja: Could have kept them for five weeks and been fine. But now I got to reevaluate because I got sniped in the 13th round. What are we doing? I'm going to take the Chargers here. As you said, I stream defenses too. They play Arizona and Vegas.

ninja: Kind of offenses we don't expect to be all that great, especially to start the year. So I'll finish my draft off with the Chargers defense.

Lord Hinkie : lovely And then that brings our draft to an end. Yeah, I mean, I feel like We definitely showed you guys two different strategies to do there. I went with the zero running back strategy and my team, you know, to be honest, I don't love it. I don't love it. I think im I'm definitely top heavy with guys like Jamar Chase, Rasheed Rice, Brock Bowers, Joe Barrow.

Lord Hinkie : But. I don't love my running back positions. I don't love my bench positions because I kind of had to force myself to draft. a lot of these committee running backs. If this is a you know draft strategy to show you what not to do, maybe just don't do the zero RB strategy this year. At least do the heart hero RB.

Lord Hinkie : that Ninja ended up going with. got himself a Jonathan Taylor, got himself you know a lot of good wide receivers and a decent QB and tight end. And then he still kind of plugged in running back with you know good value in the middle and the late round. so

Lord Hinkie : I think the strategy for redrafts, especially my preference is going either hero rb stable where you draft two rbs or maybe even three in the first couple of rounds or go hero rb and draft the one of the stud running backs in the first round and then maybe throw your running back two into like one of those mid -tier value picks. so Yeah, but Ninja, what are your takeaways after this mock draft?

ninja: I'm a big fan of my team, but everyone knows. who my guys are and guys in our fantasy sphere are definitely more in tuned but for your family leagues Just go get your guys.

ninja: This is time to have fun. In this mock draft, I was able to get a lot of my guys, guys I really like.

Lord Hinkie : Amen.

ninja: Now everyone knows I'm a Nico Collins guy. No way he falls to the 2 -4. People would snipe me 1 ,000 % of the time. But just make sure you have a lot of fun and be open to...

ninja: shifting your strategy. Always find BPA, the best player available. Even if you don't, say you already drafted. three RBs in the fourth round, if you really like a Travis Etienne this year in New Orleans, if you really like a Travion Henderson, if you...

ninja: think David Montgomery or Bayshall Tootin is really going to do well this year, don't be afraid to go out on a limb and get your guy. Be fluid. Really, uh... do your strategy and be flexible with it because you don't know how everyone else is drafting. So don't go in with saying, Hey, I'm going to get three running backs early.

ninja: It may not work that way. Drafts, mock drafts are really fun, but the real draft is different and you get sniped all the time. So just be flexible and be water. Just like Gary.

Lord Hinkie : Be water. Be water, be wet, be water. It's always better to be wet. But yeah, I mean, this was really fun. we have We actually have a redraft league starting tonight, so hopefully this is good omens for both of us that draft a pretty good team. I definitely will be going with my strategy. but i mean i i'm I'm saying I'm kind of down on my team. but

Lord Hinkie : I do feel like I have some really good players. Jamar Chase is obviously a stud. Brock Bauer is obviously a stud. I really like Rasheed Rice and Joe Barrow. I just feel like I have to, if you do the zero RB strategy.

Lord Hinkie : You have to kind of force yourself to draft these committee guys that maybe no one really loves, and you're not able to draft those fun upside wide receivers or those fun upside tight ends.

Lord Hinkie : or QBs because you kind of have to force yourself to draft. players you think will just find some kind of minuscule value that you can start week in and week out or you know, in in a pinch here and there.

Lord Hinkie : So I think for me, this strategy isn't necessarily fun. And it's not necessarily productive. Now, this team that I drafted might end up winning the whole championship this year. of Joe Barrow and Jamar Chase are studs. and you know two of these running backs I drafted in the middle to late rounds end up being starters. like This strategy could work out.

Lord Hinkie : But... for my personal preference, I just don't think it's really fun to do. I don't feel great about my team. And I'm just, I think I'm a bonafide RB stable kind of guy. Just my...

ninja: I think. I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit. You have three guys who can easily finish. the number one at their position. at the end of the year in fantasy with Jamar Chase, Brock Bowers, and Joe Burrow.

ninja: And if you have three guys that finish number one, chances are you're making a deep run in the playoff.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah, I mean, I do like I do like Judkins as a week in and week out starting running back.

Lord Hinkie : It's just that second running back position is going to be a headache throughout the entire season where you're just trying to find guys to start in certain matchups. So I guess in one way, it makes it a little bit fun because you can kind of strategize and, you know, you have a player to pick from every week.

Lord Hinkie : But at the same time, you have a lot of unknown that you're kind of throwing in your roster. so

ninja: And the NFL is weird. I'm sure last year in redrafts, no one was drafting Kyle Menungai. No one was drafting Ja 'Cory Kroski -Merritt. And you'll find those guys throughout the year.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah.

ninja: You'll find those deep flyers who were drafted in the seventh round, maybe undrafted, who find playing time late in the year and be active on waivers.

Lord Hinkie : Mm hmm.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah.

ninja: Every week in redraft.

Lord Hinkie : that Have to be active on waivers not only with your QB tight end defenses that you're kind of waiver wiring and you're playing matchups It's if one of those starting running backs goes down like if you know McCaffrey ends up getting hurt again this year Like you need to go get yourself, you know, whoever you think you're going to be. whoever that backup at San Francisco that you like more is going to be because you know he's going to be productive.

Lord Hinkie : Right now, I guess it's probably that Keelan Black guy. If not... that is a grand though, whoever, but. Just as an example, even if Jonathan Taylor, for you, were to go down. You're going to have to go get yourself.

Lord Hinkie : DJ Giddens.

ninja: Seth McGowan, maybe. Yeah.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah, Seth McGowan. just be able to be flexible and be able to jump on those guys whenever they do become available in the waiver wire.

Lord Hinkie : All right, Ninja. Well, this was fun, buddy. Look at us doing a podcast together, first of all.

ninja: Whoa.

Lord Hinkie : Proud of us. Hold on. it Let me give you a little.

Lord Hinkie : That was for us. That wasn't the fans. That was just that was for us. But, yeah, I mean, this was fun. As always, I love getting together and talking with you and being able to do a redraft, which is a little bit different and talk about how we think. players are going to do for this season coming up that's you know a week and a half away, two weeks away.

Lord Hinkie : It's exciting, man. It's really exciting. And I think this is really fun to do. I i do feel like this is a good. Podcast to throw out there for you know, a lot of people do redraft leagues here and there and you know learn from us You know learn from these picks. Well, maybe we'll throw our teams out on the socials and see which team you guys like a little bit better, but

Lord Hinkie : even if they both stink, I think this was definitely fun to do.

ninja: Yeah, I don't think we we don't really shine a light too much on redrafts, so it was really fun to get in there.

Lord Hinkie : Mm hmm.

ninja: Hopefully help some redrafters with some. strategies, players to target at ranges. Yeah, this was really fun.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah. This was a good time. And you're definitely going to be hearing more from us coming in the next couple weeks. you know We're throwing this podcast kind of in the middle of nowhere, throwing it out on a Sunday. But I believe we're going to try and get a Hot Takes podcast done. Later on this week. So stay tuned for that. Me and Ninja are going to be here. You know we.

Lord Hinkie : We have some hot takes, but... To be honest. Historically. They kind of turned down in our favor, buddy.

ninja: They don't call me the hot take ninja for nothing.

Lord Hinkie : I mean, I know we were both pretty big on the Drake May, Caleb Williams hype. after year one, you know, and now they're... two top quarterbacks in the league. You know, you got your Nico Collins.

ninja: Kyle Monongai, JCM.

Lord Hinkie : How my nun guy yep

ninja: Yeah.

Lord Hinkie : I still kind of waiting for mine to turn out, but it is what it is.

ninja: Yeah.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah. Sorry for all the guys that dropped the Jalen Polk. I am so sorry.

Lord Hinkie : That's all I got for you. So stay tuned. Later on in the week, we're going to have our hot take pods come out, and then we're going to go weekly from there. We'll probably give you another podcast next week before all of the week one matchups, talking to you about those and what to expect you know for this this year coming up. So stay tuned. We're going to try and go weekly throughout the regular season, so keep your notifications on. Subscribe if you haven't subscribed. and make sure you got your bell on so that way you get notified whenever we post these podcasts or wherever you listen to your podcasting formats. But, yeah, Ninja, you got anything to say to people before we head out of here, big fella?

ninja: that This was fun. I love doing... any type of mock draft, especially with you. It's so much fun. I love seeing the different strategies that we... And I like... so i like peeking behind the curtain at where you're at with guys, because now I know if I'm near you in drafts, I'm going to snipe you, and you're going to snipe me.

ninja: It's some of the...

Lord Hinkie : Yeah, we are buddy

ninja: Some of the best times is doing mock drafts, then going to the draft and going, I didn't think he'd pick them this high. And well, there goes Nico Collins. One pick before me, like every year.

Lord Hinkie : Boom. Yep, here goes Nico at the 1 -9. Because Ninja's at the 110.

ninja: Yeah. But always really fun. Stay tuned for hot takes. The Ninja is back. The lab coat will be on. It's an absolute cook sesh.

ninja: Hopefully. Hopefully they turn out good like they do most years for me.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah, it's gonna be a fun one

ninja: But this was a great time.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah.

ninja: Hopefully we can get Zig on because I know he's got some outlandish things to say. But, uh...

Lord Hinkie : Yeah.

ninja: This was real fun, buddy.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah, what I'd like for him to come on and actually back up his own hot takes. and I think the one year we did it, he gave us his hot takes and we had to throw them out on air, which to be honest us felt gross because I'm the one who has to verbalize his.

Lord Hinkie : insane mindset where it comes to fantasy football. so Yeah, it's it's hard for me to get out those words. So hopefully he's there to actually back up his claims.

ninja: I mean, he was here in spirit today because we both did the Zig special and had stacks and I even had the mega stack.

Lord Hinkie : That is true.

ninja: so So sick was here in spirit.

Lord Hinkie : That was for you. You have, yeah. Yeah, you also drafted Ben Johnson, I think, at the end of the round.

ninja: Oh yeah, for sure.

Lord Hinkie : It is very good But, yeah, so as always, everybody, be friends. Tell friends something nice.

Lord Hinkie : Football season's coming around, big guy. So if you have some free weekends to go hang out with your buddies and watch some football, let's do that. Let's go have some beers with the boys. Let's go hang out a little bit. College football just happened over the weekend. Week ones you know week zero games happened, which, you know, who really cares? But week one games are going to be this weekend. Penn State plays on Saturday. The beginning of the Matt Campbell era starts.

Lord Hinkie : Saturday, September 5th. Cannot wait. Ecstatic. And, you know, just hang out with your boys. Talk some football. Get those redraft leagues going. If, you know, maybe you're hesitant on whether you're going to throw that league together, throw it in the group chat. Be like, hey, guys, let's let's throw this league together real quick just for some some. some and gigs, if you will. I had to throw that in there. We didn't have anything really to edit out. so

Lord Hinkie : Yeah, check out on your boys get those leagues together And you know if you if you know a guy is forced to go to a wedding on a Saturday in October Send that guy a beer, you know? Send that guy a Venmo for five bucks just so he can buy himself a beer. Get him your YouTube TV login so he can watch the games at that wedding. Help a boy out. and

Lord Hinkie : you know as always be a friend tell a friend something nice you never know what people are going through out there be a kind smiling face uh especially in the summer you know i a lot of the teachers now are going back to school a lot of the kids are going back to school Fall is around the corner. Winter is around the corner. as a Never a bad time to check in on your boys.

Lord Hinkie : Yeah, that's all I got. So thank you guys for listening. Appreciate see you guys tuning in, and we'll catch you later on this week. Stay tuned.
