00:00:19
Speaker
and we are back with another episode of under the vinyl a rental management media podcast by the tent professionals kyle and my good friend Hey, buddy. How you doing? I'm good, Nate. How you doing?
00:00:32
Speaker
I love an intro there. It's ah kind of weird being on the other side. I'm proud of you, though. Yeah. People told me they were tired of hearing you do the intro all the time, so we had to switch it up. Well, when this rental management media podcast is this dang good, you don't want to switch it up.
00:00:45
Speaker
Hey, we'll see who gets more listens, all right? all All right. All right. So what's going on in your world? It's almost the end of November. I just got back. I was out of town for a week on a job. I know you're upset with me because I didn't talk to you for a whole week, but I'm home now.
00:01:02
Speaker
Yeah. it was ah It was like a weird divorce. you know it was there was no There was no communication back and forth, just one way. I didn't know what to do with my hands, didn't know who to talk to. I was calling people trying to figure out if this was even a thing anymore, but I'm glad you're back with us. How did everything go?

Thanksgiving Metaphor and Industry Pricing

00:01:19
Speaker
It went well. It was a security nightmare. That's what kind of made it made it take so long, but we got it through it. We survived. Good. Well, I'm glad. I know it was a big job for you, and I don't know if we can dive into that, but maybe we'll dive into it at a later date, but it was pretty cool. Yeah, once it's over, I'm allowed to talk about it. so Beginning of the year, we can talk about it.
00:01:39
Speaker
Perfect. So what do you want to dive into today here? Well, by the time this comes out, Thanksgiving's going to be over. But let's start with some Thanksgiving fun. Nate, if the tent is the turkey, who what on the site do you think is the best side dish?
00:01:58
Speaker
Tent is a turkey, the best side dish. Non-equipment related, something to dress it up a little bit maybe. Sure. um Man, probably the lighting.
00:02:10
Speaker
I don't โ€“ I always โ€“ I'm a sucker for some good lighting in ah in a tent. I mean whether be โ€“ I mean just all different kinds of lighting. I feel like that's what really dresses it up. you know now Now. Now that we're talking about lighting though, I'm going to get on a soapbox on this topic for a second.
00:02:26
Speaker
How come those guys can charge whatever they want and never get beat up? But you know you and I throw a big bill out there on the customers. who I like to equate it to like you're when you're building a house. And you get the house built and everything, and your wife may sit there and complain about everything along the way while you're building the house.
00:02:49
Speaker
But when it gets to the interior and the fixtures, oh, man, all budgets go out the window to make it look good. So I feel like that's the way it goes. you know With the tent industry, it's just the construction side, even though we're the main part of it. yeah But when we finally get to the, uh, we get to the interior and all the effects, everybody just wants to blow it out because that's truly what everybody sees and and their eyes go to.
00:03:11
Speaker
There's nothing I hate more than finding out what the lighting company got. i'm like Or florist. Yeah. i'm like, wait a minute. We were here for a week and you guys came in for one day and that's how much money you got paid. I think about the florist and not hating on the florist, but how they do it. I just need to figure it out. I mean, it's like how much money did they put into flowers that just get thrown out or just die?
00:03:31
Speaker
Um, Then again, you know you could look at the carpet or vinyl aspect in our tents. mean, 90% of the carpet that we have probably gets thrown out in vinyl, would you say? i would ah yeah I would agree with that. kind of I hate saying it out loud because we're supposed to be green and sustainable, but...

Sustainability Challenges in Tents

00:03:49
Speaker
Well, we try, but I mean, I think that there's a lot of times where we try and roll it up and save what we can in certain situations. But at the end of the day, i mean, think about how many drinks and stuff are spilled all over like the turf that it soaks into yeah um or the carpet that you're going to have to clean. So by the time you roll it back out and re-put it down, you're going to have to go back and clean it all anyways. And that's going to take up just as much money as you probably would to buy a new roll. Yeah. I started selling it on Marketplace.
00:04:14
Speaker
so That's a good one, I guess. I've heard that. I sell like five cents a square foot. like just come But you have to take a whole roll. Here you We've done a little trade on that um with other rental companies where we've had some leftover that we traded out with another rental company. yeah Yeah. So if anyone in New Jersey ever needs any carpet, I always got a ton and I'll give it away basically because it's just going to in my dumpster.
00:04:37
Speaker
Yeah, but

Upcoming Events and Industry Impacts

00:04:38
Speaker
I would say for a side, probably lighting inside of a tent. What about you? Oh, restroom trailer. 100% Nate. Come on. Oh my gosh. Okay, yeah. You're the restroom guy. I forgot about that. You always need a good restroom. You don't want him going in your house. It's like that stinky uncle who's coming over for Thanksgiving. You know, you don't want him in your house. So you got Come on.
00:04:56
Speaker

00:05:53
Speaker
Next year, 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Have you heard of any big events going on? I have. It's this thing people like to call football.
00:06:04
Speaker
I don't think that... No. um so People are saying there's going to be other stuff other than FIFA. Really? Yeah. Hmm. I haven't really heard of anything um bigger. I have heard of some mentions of something like that, but I haven't heard... I mean, maybe some celebrations, but I haven't heard of anything specifically. Have you?
00:06:20
Speaker
i I mean... I'll shut him out. Robert Copley called me yesterday. Him and I were talking and he got a call for something for like 3000 people. Um, but that was like the first I've heard of it. He's like, yeah, you guys getting any work from it.
00:06:32
Speaker
But so next year will be an interesting year considering we have that FIFA is coming to the United States. So there's go be a bunch of work floating around. Uh, yeah, the FIFA one's going to be a big one. I think it's got everybody in an uproar to really see where we go and in the direction that everybody goes, um, you know, just,
00:06:48
Speaker
Timing-wise, it's the time of the year when and everybody's already pretty busy. So I think everybody's trying to scramble how to make it work if they can. This might be a hot take here. I think it might be a good time for those small to medium companies to kind of nudge their way into some of the work that the bigger guys because we are all ah kind of focusing on going after that bigger work.
00:07:12
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, I think it's ah it's a good time for some people to pick up some of that backyard stuff. um You know, maybe it's not their something they're in now. Maybe they jump into because people abandoned it a little bit. But I think also that mid-range style companies that get some of that FIFA work that um that are pretty good at balancing that type of stuff will know how to do it. Yeah.
00:07:36
Speaker
It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. because Yeah. Yeah. just inventory wise, I don't know that any one or five companies have enough inventory to do the work.
00:07:48
Speaker
Yeah. I think in the, uh, words of Drew Holcomb, you got to find your people. Um, you got to see who you can partner with and you got to see who, who, uh, you know, who you can call on at that time to kind of see who has the inventory. I think that there's going to be a lot of large companies that get contracts that will probably farm some out, um, and be calling on the mid range guys that do have large inventories. Um,

Partnerships and Equipment in Tenting

00:08:11
Speaker
to kind of kind of take care of some of that for them. So I think you'll see a lot of think you'll see a lot of big companies get them, but I think you'll see a lot of partnerships in the end. Yeah, and well that's always good for the industry is those partnerships. It's the time of year that scares me just in the ones I've talked about just because it's like they go up in May and they don't come down until some of them are four- or five-month rentals, and those are prime-time rental season.
00:08:32
Speaker
so Well, in in the words of Darren Randall, you just got to find your strategic partnerships and you'll be okay, right? Yeah. on the topic of Darren Randall. The voting's going to be over, but hopefully I beat him in that event showcase by then.
00:08:45
Speaker
It is, I've loved the Instagram banter going back and forth, and if everybody doesn't know, it's the it's the picture contest for ARA. um And ah between you and Darren going back and forth, but I think I've seen free tickets for sporting events and buying beers for People also should be good. yeah I'm just going to watch it go back and forth. Next, I'm going you know, i think I'm going to offer up a free flight on rent force one.
00:09:08
Speaker
There you go. I'll have to get it approved by my dad, but hopefully we can get some people on there. I love that for you. oh While we are talking about that, I have a question that came in from Facebook. I really enjoyed reading people's comments on it. It was by Jared Nigro out of, ah hope I don't botch this. I'm not even sure he's in Massachusetts.
00:09:31
Speaker
But he asked, how big of a change or improvement was it to your team or company when you added one or both of the following? A hydraulic stake puller or an electric dolly?
00:09:41
Speaker
So I'll start on this. I've never owned an electric dolly. We have one. I don't know. But the Green Monster, like, we own a bunch of 10 Oxes, as everyone knows, but my guys take a Green Monster every day and use that probably 92% of the time versus having the Ox pull stakes.
00:10:01
Speaker
A Green Monster, 10 Ox now makes a handheld machine. Andy Matrix, don't kill me, but I don't know what called. The Ox Tractor. think.
00:10:13
Speaker
And there's, I think, one or two more are out there. But... Definitely better than beating stakes out by hand. i remember those days. Yeah, I haven't had a green monster. um but Really?
00:10:27
Speaker
No. and just I always thought the need for one was there. But then upon asking my guys, they just they didn't feel a need. they felt like it was I guess it's one of those things where it's like the 10-ox. You know what i mean? it's what do you don't know what What are they doing?
00:10:43
Speaker
I mean, they're just using the old school. I mean, you're using a Jack jaw or a Jack style steak puller. um And I think, I think it it goes back to, like I said, the the old way of thinking like with 10 ox, you know, getting everybody into 10 ox was hard because nobody wanted to change their way of thinking. um And so once they saw it and how it worked, it was a totally different story. They wanted it, I think, but you got to, you know,
00:11:11
Speaker
the thought process was now you got to have another truck. You got to have another trailer. got to have everything else to do it. Right. um And so with the, with that, with the green monster, I think that the guys see it as another heavy item to lug around. So now you have to get it up and down the lift gate um in the back of the truck, rolling it in and out.
00:11:30
Speaker
And for me, my guys specifically in my Nashville office don't, um they they don't have a box truck. They have a pickup truck, right? So if you're going to have a pickup truck, then you might as well pull the trailer and you might as well pull the 10 ox. If it's small enough, then you might as well throw a jack jaw on the back. Now I'm not saying that I would be against the green monster. Cause I always think it's a great product.
00:11:52
Speaker
I just think it's different applications for different people in different styles. Um, if, if I had a box truck, I do have a, you know, I have, um, flatbeds, but, you know Putting it up and down on a flatbed at the same time, you might as well go the ah other way and go with the Tenoch. So I think that it's just it's just all over on that. If I was Jared, I would 100% buy a Green Monster or something equivalent, especially because it's a long-term investment. I bet right we have our original Green Monster we bought in probably 2002, 2005, somewhere in two two thousand five somewhere in there and like still

Industry Events and Auctions

00:12:23
Speaker
runs fine.
00:12:23
Speaker
I think it's still the original motor. We have, we've replaced a bunch of parts because the guys flip it off a tailgate or drop it out. truck You know how employees are. Oh yeah. A hundred percent. I know the 10 ox is a large investment. You know, a bunch of guys commented, just spend the money on the 10 ox.
00:12:39
Speaker
You know, it's not for everyone. That's a large expenditure for companies. So you can't expect everyone to be able to afford that, but a green monster a hundred percent or the auxtractor,
00:12:52
Speaker
And if there's any other out there, I'm really sorry that I don't know names, but, uh, but they're all great options. Anything to hydraulically do the work instead of by hand, it's probably better. That's also talk about the fact that it depends what style size company you are, not style, but size company you are. Um, I think, a midrange um, a uh, company would benefit really well from a green monster. I think that everybody would benefit well from a green monster, but specifically the smaller size, um, smaller size are a little bit better. would be great with that. Maybe they're not into the 10-offs yet, you know, something like that. so
00:13:26
Speaker
Good job, Nate. That was great. So, want to go into some industry stuff? Yeah, let's hear it. All right. These are just some things I picked up today before we started recording.
00:13:38
Speaker
There's an auction next week in Westfield, Massachusetts, CRG Auctions. ah ah companies The owner's retiring and everything's up for auctions. The auction dates are 12-3 and If anyone hadn't seen an email come across from that, CRG Auctions.
00:13:55
Speaker
There has been, um, I've had a few come through in Tennessee of some smaller companies. So I think it's that time of the year, um, that some of these companies are smaller companies are selling out. Um, you know just getting rid of some stuff, uh, as well as closing their doors on, you know, some people that, um,
00:14:12
Speaker
um Maybe not be wanting to be in it anymore. So be on the lookout for all those auctions. Yeah, there's some some nice stuff in the auction I was looking at today I'm not gonna tell you what I'm buying because you'll probably bid against me just for fun ah Other things coming up ah the ATA tent expo is in January you and I gonna be there I heard a little rumor we might do some live shows We are. We are. It sounds like we're going to, yeah, we'll we'll be at ATA doing some great live shows. There will be times for that. So everybody look at that as well as having beers with everybody. So can't wait to see everybody and have some ah cocktails. And then direct from there, you and I are flying right up to Wisconsin and Illinois.
00:14:56
Speaker
Yeah. If you're on YouTube right now and you're seeing this image in the back window, that is Brian Richardson. As you know, he likes to pop in once in a while. um Yeah, we let's see. We have a jam packed schedule. So we head from atta um We're there till Friday. Was it? I mean, you're there longer than I am. I think I get there Sunday or Monday. i'm there the Thursday before. Yeah.
00:15:20
Speaker
Yeah, so you're there Thursday, and I will be there until Friday. We fly out Friday morning, ah first thing, 8 o'clock, and we are headed up to Wisconsin. And we've got a kind of good little โ€“ To be honest, I'm really looking forward to that.
00:15:36
Speaker
I am too. I think it's going to be a blast. So, um, ARA has invited us up to Wisconsin and, um, we are going to do a little bit of a live show up there at, uh, Copley's place and event essentials. And, um, yeah, so it'll be a quick 24, 24 hour turnaround. But, um, you know, when we were down at, uh, YPN, we were talking and, and, um,
00:16:00
Speaker
Rob was saying how awesome it's going to be and and and just all the things that we're going to be doing. So that'll be a quick turnaround and then and jetting out of there. Everyone says how nice that place is. So that's what i'm looking forward to seeing.
00:16:12
Speaker
I've heard it's state-of-the-art. I was invited to the grand opening of it, and I wasn't able to make it, unfortunately, but I am looking forward to now being able to finally get up there. Now, I don't know about this weather change. We're going to be going from literally Florida to probably snow, and I don't know how to really pack for that, but we'll make it work. You might just UPS a suitcase to Robert and ask him to have it sitting in the warehouse. Hey, you know, that's not a bad idea, actually.
00:16:36
Speaker
ah But, yeah, that's going to be a quick turnaround. We've got all-day events on Saturday. I think we've got something to do on Friday night, all-day Saturday, and a quick turnaround and get Turn and Burn on Saturday night back back home. so

Winter Plans and Industry Promotion

00:16:48
Speaker
Yeah, the ARA of Wisconsin and Illinois. don't know the proper name for the event, but they're doing a joint event, and I'm really looking forward to it.
00:16:55
Speaker
Yeah, going to be a blast. And then after that, Nate, we're going to down to Orlando, you and me, to the ARA show. We've got events for you on February twenty eighth you're boys list Your boy's a speaker, Nate.
00:17:12
Speaker
At EventU? Yeah. Well, you know, I wasn't sure if I wasn't going to be able to make it for EventU, but, man, you may have just sold me. I'm a speaker. Maybe you should come. You're doing a lot of speaking these days.
00:17:23
Speaker
Yeah, just call me Brian Jr. Oh, gosh. tumb Don't blow up his head na anymore, please. Jesus. But, yeah, the ARA show. Registration's open.
00:17:35
Speaker
Get registered if you haven't. Yeah, ARA show's going to be awesome. As always, I got some great events lined up there as well. We will be podcasting live from ARA show. Every day, I think.
00:17:48
Speaker
Yeah, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. so Make sure to check us out there um and see some recordings. If you're interested in some interviews um or being talked to, feel free to reach out. If you have any questions that you would like to see answered or talked about, let us know as well.
00:18:08
Speaker
And I think that we can maybe we'll start dropping some hints on some guests for those. So that way, if there's any specific ones that people would like to ask. I think we got, they're all going to be really fun, but we got one really good, unique one I think everybody will love that we will hint at a little bit later once we nail that all down. Yeah, and we might be working on a giveaway.
00:18:27
Speaker
We started talking about that a little bit, so we'll see what happens there. Stay tuned for that. Absolutely. And one other thing that I think is really cool, I don't know if everyone has seen this, but ARA Foundation is auctioning Bronco off. You can buy tickets through the foundation.
00:18:45
Speaker
How many tickets can I buy? You can buy five for a thousand bucks. So, I mean, for a thousand dollars and you win a Bronco, that doesn't sound like a bad deal. Hey, then I can look like our fisherman, Nick.
00:18:55
Speaker
Yeah. Shout out Nick Donino. He can sell me all the accessories because he's fishing every day. Absolutely. If you need some block and roll accessories for that Bronco that you win, let him know. Oh, it's not block and roll. What's it called? X-Rack.
00:19:08
Speaker
Yeah, it I mean, they are pretty sweet, too. Yeah, he does have a good-looking truck. I'll give it to him. But, yeah, ARA Foundation is auctioning off their Bronco. Take a look. Buy some tickets. They're only selling 800, so that does help your odds of winning, if I think, if I did that math right. But what else we got matt here? man There's some essentials of 10 anchoring courses coming up through December. I saw online there's one in Georgia and one in New York. one I think you said you're going to one, Nate, aren't you?
00:19:38
Speaker
I'll be down at, uh, Steven's place down in, uh, Atlanta. And, uh, we'll be going down there to, uh, do some anchoring. Um, we're going to take a bunch of the guys. Uh, think we're, I got maybe five, six guys come from Nashville office.
00:19:53
Speaker
I know we got some, uh, guys coming from the, uh, Chattanooga office as well. Um, so that is going to be an absolute great time down there at classic tents.
00:20:04
Speaker
Um, so check that out if you haven't already. Um, But, yeah, I think that'll be great. So we're starting to kick off this thing real good, and and it's getting around, and people are finally digging in, so I'm loving it. I hope there's going to be a good turnout.
00:20:17
Speaker
right. Now we're moving on to winter ideas because it's getting slow. h I was just saying this, like, maybe about an hour ago to somebody. You know, we pray to get to this time of the year every year. And then you're bored. Where we finally make it through.
00:20:33
Speaker
And i think that's a problem with us is we're so sick in the head that we want to run 100 miles an hour every day that when we stop, we don't know what to do with our hands. And I think it was earlier today. I had a couple hours to myself to think, and I was like, man, why am I not doing this? Why am I not doing that? And it was almost like anxiety, like I should have been doing something at the time.
00:20:54
Speaker
So I set new goal for myself this winter. I want to go visit someone's place one place a month now through March. Because I feel like I learned so much more just going and looking at people's warehouses.
00:21:06
Speaker
Well, you're going to come see me in February in Nashville. Oh, I am. We got a little shout out Clint Black. That'll be a good concert. But yeah, I definitely, you you should definitely do store tours. I love the other day, Russ Hicks, great guy. Can't wait to him on the podcast, but he put right on Facebook. He's like, I'm in Norfolk, Virginia, looking for someone to go visit.
00:21:26
Speaker
So people, if you're listening and you're anywhere on vacation, I'm not an accountant or I'm not giving you tax advice, but I'm pretty sure you can write things off.
00:21:38
Speaker
I won't go there with that one, but, um, the I think just overall being able to not only make friends if you don't know anybody in the area to stop and see their place, but just get some ideas. you know um Tommy Wilson used to do this for me a lot when I was at Bryant's. you know If I was struggling with some warehousing stuff or if I brought a new warehouse manager in โ€“ or some different guys that were going to be in the warehouse and they were kind of over the warehouse, I would ask Tommy if we if he minded if we came down to his place. And Tommy would let us do and walk through all the time and didn't matter when or if we wanted to sit down and pick his guys' brains at slow time, just kind of go through and see what we needed to do differently or what would help us. And Tommy and my business overlapped it all the time. So like we were...
00:22:24
Speaker
I don't want to say we were just competing directly against each other on stuff because we would talk about things if if something came up. But um you know he would come to my area. I would go to his a little bit, but he would still be willing to help me out. So take those โ€“ take the advantage of that and go talk to people and see see places. It's so invaluable. There's really no โ€“ I mean, you shouldn't hate anyone in this industry because we're so small. We all kind of need each other.
00:22:48
Speaker
and i would agree. And if you hate someone or someone hates you, i there's probably not a good human or something. Like, I can't hate anyone. I got friends.
00:23:02
Speaker
Well, industry is way too small. Yeah. Can't do that. ah Another thing, my goal is to hit two high school job fairs. Try to, you know, at least educate some of those younger people about the rental industry in general. I don't care if they don't come work for me, but even just work, we all need each other. If they work in the equipment side, there's nothing wrong with that either.
00:23:23
Speaker
Yeah. I know that our HR, head of HR, goes to job fairs um quite often. um That's something that he does. He passes out some different things, stress balls. I have quite a few of those that I play with all the time. But um you know just different pens and literature and things about the industry, about us, to try and pull in. I look for that to be more beneficial, and I hope it's more beneficial going forward. Once we get the the classes all together, then we can kind of pitch this. once i mean, we hammer this all the time, but just more of a trade industry. that we can kind of show people the pathway. And so going to those fairs to show them those things, I think will be amazing. Yeah.
00:24:08
Speaker
All right. Well, Nate, I heard you had some rapid fire questions to

Thanksgiving Food Debates

00:24:12
Speaker
end the day. Yeah. You know, we got Turkey time coming and, um, I think everybody's gearing up. And, uh, as we start to end this week, I think that, uh, I think that'd be fun to do some questions here. So Kyle, I'm going to hit you.

Who at Thanksgiving is most likely to start a fight before the dessert? Me. Really? oh i I would have thought Brian for sure. oh no. I'm an instigator. I love getting my sister going. It's so easy. Oh, yeah. I know exactly what to say to her.
00:24:39
Speaker
I could see that. Um, on my side, so we don't, we don't necessarily do Thanksgiving on Thursday. We wait till Saturday to do it because we head up to my, uh, my wife's. Yeah. We head up to my wife's, um, or my in-laws house in Nashville. Um, which is great. It's great to do it over the weekend. Um, but I would also have to go with me. I think that I may, I would make a joke or something and then it stirs the pot.
00:25:02
Speaker
Yeah. Gets everybody going. Um, which relative would you trust the least to carve a turkey? Probably me. Actually, no.
00:25:14
Speaker
My sister. There's no way she would do it right? Yeah. Well, I was going to go with my sister-in-law, so definitely not me. I don't want to carve the turkey, but I will carve the turkey if have to. I try stay far away from the kitchen.
00:25:27
Speaker
What dish you pretending to like this year? Probably like corn casserole or something. You don't like corn casserole? I don't like... Like sweet corn casserole? No, yeah, I don't like that.
00:25:41
Speaker
Why? I just don't like it as a casserole. I don' i love corn. guess you're not from the Midwest. You're weird. i know. Jesus, even Lauren Mao up in the corner is giving me a weird look. God, love the corn casserole. um Honestly, this it might be a not well-liked topic here, but I'm not a turkey guy.
00:26:02
Speaker
I am more of, so growing up in the Midwest, I was more of a ham guy. What? And yeah, ham. But turkey has always, I think because the way it was always cooked and prepared, but and I'm not going to. throw my dad under the bus here but I think that the the turkey was always dry okay oh turkey is 100% just dry all the time it was never juicy so up until recently um i finally started to like turkey I guess again but it's not like if i don't I don't even like a turkey sandwich I like ham well I just want to know why we all act like we like turkey and we only ever eat it one day one time a year okay so here's what I will say
00:26:43
Speaker
And this might be a Midwest thing too, but I will eat the leftover turkey on the next day on white bread with Miracle Whip and cheese. That's the way to go.
00:26:54
Speaker
That's the way I like my turkey, and that's it. Now, from time to time, I'll eat the deep fried turkey, but I'll eat all the damn sides around it before I eat the turkey. Are you eating the brown meat? No, don't like the dark meat. Me either.
00:27:06
Speaker
Yeah, for the white stuff, but it's good. Yeah. Um, but the deep fried is juicy. So it's the way to go. Have you seen the video? Sorry. Have you seen the videos of the firefighters putting the frozen Turkey in the deep fryer? I actually saw it on your Instagram today and I about died, but it's true. i mean, I watched shot out one of my buddies one year we had a friend's given and he was cooking a Turkey in his closet downstairs and the deep fryer. And I was like, what in the heck are you doing?
00:27:37
Speaker
um But yeah, there's those that there's people out there like that. and What's the worst Thanksgiving food people lie about enjoying? Oh, the cranberry sauce. I watched the one in the can too that comes out, the cranberry in the can where dumps out. And you can still see the like โ€“ Yeah, the ridges. The ribs of the can. Yeah. I watched somebody post that on Instagram probably yesterday and they said that can all day and i was like absolutely not do you think none of it all day do you think those cans are like that because they sit on the shelf all year because people only buy it for thanksgiving ah you know what i'd equate that to do you remember being in middle school i'm a public school kid and uh we had yeah in in middle school or in elementary school they always had the food in a can and they were the big giant cans that they dump out that's what i feel like when i when i think of that and i just pop
00:28:29
Speaker
ah ah Would you rather fight a turkey the size of a horse or 50 mini horses the size of a turkey? I'm a big problem guy. Turkey the size of a horse.
00:28:42
Speaker
ah Man, I don't think so. I think I'd rather fight 50 mini horses the size of a turkey. I feel like you could just start kicking them and hitting them. You'd be okay. I like i like to tackle the big projects, the big big problems. Shout out Matt Smith. He asks that on every interview he does for new employees, he told me.
00:28:59
Speaker
What's that? That question. Really? Yeah. Interesting. That's a hot take. um Is Thanksgiving actually better than Christmas? Why or why not? The only reason it's better is because you're forced to get Friday off because no employer wants to be a jerk and make you come to work the next day.
00:29:16
Speaker
Yeah, i man. I mean, that's that's nice to have Friday off, but. Yeah, I don't know. I think I'm all around. i don't think because the way we do Thanksgiving. We do Thanksgiving on Saturday.
00:29:27
Speaker
So I think it's just like it's become normal to me now since my wife and I have been together for six years. And you know that's just what we do. um But I would think i love Christmas just because, I mean, and my wife this morning, she told me, she said, I might need you to do something. and I said, i can only imagine what that is. Go get a Christmas tree.
00:29:48
Speaker
And she was like, the pre-lit ones are on sale. so think going to have to go get a Christmas tree. But I am absolutely dragging my feet because she has wanted to put it up before Thanksgiving. And I'm an after Thanksgiving guy.
00:30:02
Speaker
I love Christmas. i love the I love being in my house around Christmas because there's lights and it feels warm and it feels good and everything. And my wife also has to light every Christmas candle in the house. um But yeah, I don't know where I was going with that other than and my wife is going to make me put up a Christmas tree and lights I think probably tomorrow or the next day. I think I got a Christmas tree in my future.
00:30:25
Speaker
Yeah. Well, my other question was, is turkey overrated? yeah And that is 100%, but we've already gone over that. So sweet potato casserole, elite dessert or pretending to be a side?
00:30:38
Speaker
Pretend. I think it's an elite dessert. It's not a dessert at all. Have you never been to a steakhouse that has had like a sweet potatoes that have like marshmallow and cinnamon and all the toppings on it?
00:30:54
Speaker
Oh, bro. You're doing it wrong. Okay. you guys Next time we're together. you guys There's something wrong with you guys. Pumpkin pie or trash? Trash. I'm a pumpkin pie. love pumpkin pie. Weird, I know.
00:31:08
Speaker
What's the most aggressive food on your plate? Aggressive? mash but I don't know. that's I would say ah green bean casserole. Everybody likes it, but nobody wants it to touch their food.
00:31:22
Speaker
you like your food touching on the plate? We need to end this, Nate. I don't mind the food touching. I don't mind the food touching. I mean, but I just don't want to smash it all together in a bowl and make it look like slop.
