Introduction and Ipswich's Performance

00:00:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello, hello everyone. Welcome back to Daily Wolves podcast. My name's Nathan and I'm your host for today. And I'm joined by the ever present, the ever consistent, and the ever magnificent Chris. How are we doing?
00:00:20
Chris
Wow, that's quite the intro. Happy Monday, everyone. I'm good. I'm good. Thanks, Nathan. Hey, everyone.
00:00:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah ah thought I'd start us off with as much positivity as we can. We've got a massive week ahead of us here. and we As we record this, we are um off the back of of hearing the news that our fellow relegation rivals Ipswich have gotten a wage raw at Fulham. And in the process, our former st striker Raul Jimenez became the highest scoring Mexican striker in Premier League history. So we thought we'd mention that offer off the start for a bit of nostalgia.

Ipswich's League Push

00:00:55
Chris
Yeah, I am. Yeah, we were just talking about Affair. I'm Ipswich. I mean, everyone thought they're just going to be kind of decimated, but I mean, they pulled out the bag with a victory against Chelsea the other day, which I don't think anyone saw coming. And then to to be literally moments away from beating Fulham as well.
00:01:15
Chris
up until the late penalty that Ral puts away. I mean, we're at the bottom three on the on goal difference at the moment. So we're going to be talking about tomorrow's game, but fingers crossed more points on the table, please, because Ipswich are pushing.

Optimism for Wolves' Future

00:01:28
Chris
They're not going to give up.
00:01:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Absolutely. Yeah, I think it's after the last three results, in my mind, I'm obviously full of optimism, but it's not a time to be complacent and think that we've got this sorted and that the the formula all of a sudden is working and it's going to be easy.
00:01:38
Chris
Hmm.
00:01:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, it's actually got a squad of quality and the lap scored again in that game at Fulham and he looks like a real handful. So if they've got a goal scorer, as we've found with Cunha, who knows what's going to happen.
00:01:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
but Yeah, so that that but that was news around the grounds at the time that we're that we're recording this. But the main, I guess, point of the of this episode is to look ahead to the forest

Player Transfer Talks

00:02:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
came. But before we do so, we just wanted to run by a few bits of news with regards to the the transfer window at the minute. And we've heard over the last few days that talks have kind of coming to an end by the sounds of things with regards to the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou. Again, pronunciation always at the top notch of Daily Wolves. but He is a centre half who plays at Rance in Ligue 1 in France. He's 27 years old and rumoured to be around £20m. I don't know what you've heard Chris on the price wise.
00:02:38
Chris
I believe it's 20 million euros, so it's actually around 16 million pounds.
00:02:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Oh, you've got to love the exchange rate.
00:02:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
But yeah, so he he would be sort of that, I think he he's around the 6'4, 6'5 mark. He seems to be really athletic from what I've seen. I literally just searched up a highlight reel and it was him pocketing Mbappe against PSG.
00:02:45
Chris
Yeah.
00:02:58
Chris
Yeah, I've seen that one. Yeah. Yeah.
00:03:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's the only one that I've seen. So um that's that's fairly positive news, I guess.

Lamina's Potential Transfer

00:03:04
Chris
Mm hmm.
00:03:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
and the other The other bit of news was an outgoing, which we've mentioned previously, and and that is our former captain, Lamina, who is rumoured to be on his way out to El Shabab in Saudi. And the news that we're hearing is that he's unavailable for the game against Forrest due to a ah small injury. um what What are your thoughts on that one, Chris?
00:03:30
Chris
I mean, it seems like it's going to be potentially one of those injuries that miraculously vanishes the moment if and when he signs for a new club. It seems like one of those.
00:03:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah yeah it's um
00:03:40
Chris
But we did touch on it the other day in terms of whether we thought it was a safe thing to do, I guess. I think we both agreed that at the moment, at least for the rest of this season, the future of that midfield, or the starting position of that midfield,
00:03:58
Chris
is fairly solidly set around Andre and Gomez and Lamina is gonna, if he stays, potentially more of a bench player because if it's gonna be this kind of two holding like the pivot and and then everything else built around that then I don't see him being the starter that he was and he's only got
00:04:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah, it's...
00:04:17
Chris
He's, his contract's off this summer and the reports I've been seeing are only around like four or 5 million, but then if you think he's got less than a year, he's literally got six months if, like maybe less on his contract and he's 31 years of age or something.
00:04:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:04:30
Chris
So like he's, I don't think you can really argue with that.
00:04:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
I guess the only thing that I was thinking is if 4 million for the meaner seems like a bit of a a poor deal. I know it's only six months left, but he has been playing at such a high, one of our most consistent players over the last two years, right?
00:04:43
Chris
Yeah.

Midfield Changes and Agbadou's Signing

00:04:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
And i know I know this season, he's not been to the standard that he was last season, but it just feels, you know, not that long ago, he was our captain, um you know, for the reverse fixture away at the city grounds, he was our captain, and he was, in my opinion, one of our best players on the pitch that day.
00:04:50
Chris
Hmm.
00:05:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it's weird that now we're going into this one, talking about you know him being out the door it's just um i don't know four million seems super low maybe it's because i've been watching the the nostalgia tiktoks throughout today of you know his his various goals and um i don't know passion moments for wolves but yeah it just feel feels a bit low i don't know
00:05:27
Chris
Yeah, I get where you're coming from. It is a bit of an odd one when you think about the story of this season for him with the emotion that he's been showing and the lack of discipline, the drop in form and all of that. But he's still at the core obviously got a lot to offer the team. But yeah, overall, I think as much as depth is good, I think bigger picture.
00:05:50
Chris
I don't think it'll be too upsetting, especially if they do bring in another midfielder, because there is talk that they're looking at other options still in replacement. um the The other thing we should mention, obviously, is that um you you touched on the fact, sorry, that ah how did you pronounce his name again?
00:05:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:06:06
Chris
i've just ah but My memory's just gone.
00:06:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
a abadu
00:06:10
Chris
Agbadoo, there you go.
00:06:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:06:11
Chris
So yeah, the, um, it hasn't been officially announced by wolves yet, but as you mentioned, all of the sources are saying it's pretty much a done deal. And the, the, is it pronounced Rames, the team that he currently plays for?
00:06:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:06:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think, I think it's technically France, but yeah, you give a give it a go.
00:06:25
Chris
Okay, sorry. you You're better at... Yeah, you you have more multilingual skills than I do. ah But I mean, the president of their club has confirmed the move. Quoting, the two clubs have reached an agreement. Same thing for the player. All he has to do is pass his medical and sign his contract. Wolverhampton's offer couldn't be refused. So it's basically a done deal. We're just waiting for all of the there but eyes to be dotted and all that kind of stuff. And apparently he'll be at the game tomorrow watching.
00:06:53
Chris
So, who knows, maybe we'll get one of those YouTube videos soon of his first day, first day arriving at the squad.
00:06:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah,

Injuries and Squad Impact

00:06:59
Chris
On top of that, you might be about to say it, but Konya's contract renewal apparently is pretty much, again, it's all verbally agreed. I know that he has been allowed some time home to visit family in Brazil, presumably because it's a good time around, a suspension anyway, and maybe just a little bonus of like, hey, but you're going to get a new contract.
00:06:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
hopefully.
00:07:18
Chris
Sure. Have a holiday. Um, why not while you're injured? And so, yeah, the, apparently the only like last bit was sorting out a relegation release clause. I suppose fair play because of the the fact we are in a relegation dog fight, but outside of that, everything else apparently is just going to make him obviously far more well-paid, but also extending the contracts and reassuring the fact that he's not going to go this window and securing our asset. If you like going into the summer and potentially for the future.
00:07:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. And I think the main, the main focus is keeping him to the end of the season, right? Like our immediate future is, uh, the jeopardy of potentially going down.
00:07:54
Chris
Mmhmm.
00:07:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it, yeah, we, the main thing is to keep him sweet, send him off to Brazil, let him up the holiday lost. He's serving his, his lengthy two game ban.
00:08:04
Chris
Mmhmm.
00:08:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Um, but yeah, and to talk, talking to players that may be missing out, um, for, well, at the time this episode comes out this evening's game, um, at the Molyneux, Sarabia is still out as well and um we mentioned Agbadou potentially coming in and um it could be good timing as well because Totti I believe is out for three to four weeks as well with a hamstring injury and then obviously we mentioned Lemina who will be out as well so those four and another player who who potentially would be a maybe and who also was in Brazil um quite recently is Andre who went off injured against Spurs which was quite worrying but he went back to Brazil from what we understand to to for the birth of his son.
00:08:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Is it a son?
00:08:49
Chris
Yeah, um, I thought I said sun before we went on air, but I don't know if I've just made that up.
00:08:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
My daughter? Well, I'm not sure but it does. Yeah. Oh look, there was a baby in his arms and if I knew how to say congratulations in in Portuguese, I would but yeah, there we go.
00:09:01
Chris
A baby human. He's had a baby human.
00:09:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
baby human that we can confirm.
00:09:05
Chris
Yeah.
00:09:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
and So he hes he's a maybe touch and go and we don't know if it's more the the knock or the the fact that he'd be obviously traveling between between the two continents as well.
00:09:07
Chris
Yep.
00:09:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
and But he could potentially be a miss, which we could see. Well, we'd assume Tommy

Wolves' Strategy Without Key Players

00:09:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Dore coming back into the starting lineup, right?
00:09:21
Chris
Hmm. Yeah, I think I said to you before we went to Nia we were discussing it that it could be that if it's if he's fully recovered and it's just a case of all the back and forth travel and maybe not sleeping much around that you know what it's like I mean people have kids it's a very restless affair on top of the travel maybe we'll just see him on the bench coming on you know later in the game or second half or something but so yeah I think given the the other options available, especially if Lamina is not there for his mysterious injury, then yeah, Doyle would be next man up.
00:09:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Yeah. And I guess I want to, I want to kind of turn off. Everyone is talking about Kuna still. Um, and rightfully so, but how do we feel we're going to, we're going to fair with, without him? I mean, he's, he's been a massive, um, well, a huge player for us this season. It goes kind of without saying that. How do you think we're going to, we're going to deal with that? And first of all, from a, um, replacement perspective, who do you think would, would come into that slot? And then in general, how do you think we're going to cope?
00:10:25
Chris
I think we've seen glimpses. I mean, we saw obviously he came off a second half of Tottenham and we had, was it Larsen? I mean, at that point Larsen had come on anyway, but I think we'll see, yeah I think the front three essentially would be Larsen, Huang.
00:10:41
Chris
and Gedge. And gge ah so I think that's going to be the front line because Hwang has been the one that's basically mainly come in so far and but for most managers, but he's recovered some form so far under Pereira, two goals in two games. And we both spoke about how Gedge has looked really dangerous recently whenever he looks like he's constantly creating chances and making runs. So I think
00:11:09
Chris
I think that will be your front line and I hope that I think we'll be okay. I think we'll be okay.
00:11:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think it's from the outside looking in for for other fans, and when I talk to my mates who who aren't Walsh fans, they obviously see Cunha in the in highlight reels, and and he he he is has been our a main man this season.
00:11:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I don't think it is Panic Stations. I think we've got enough quality going forward, and we've scored plenty of goals, you know, coming from other areas of the pitch than than where Cunha operates as well.
00:11:32
Chris
No.
00:11:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think is yeah it's it's far from Panic Stations. and well What I do see though is a Tommy Doyle starting over Andre could maybe be a a little bit more impactful on the way that we have set up on the Vitor Pereira, just the the aggressive defensive nature and that block that we've kind of had. I wonder how he might look to tweak things and I don't know if I definitely agree with you that Huang or I think Huang would be the right decision to start with just because of how good he is defensively as well and his shape and just helping out the midfield because Tommy Doyle's physicality or or lack of compared to Andre defensively will be just be an interesting matchup because Forrest have just got this
00:12:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
When I've watched them this season, I don't know what you think about it, Chris, but when I've watched them, they just seem like they're just brutes. They bully teams. And yeah, it'd be interesting to see how we face up against it.

Forrest's Strong Form and Wolves' Defense

00:12:40
Chris
Yeah, it's I think the most interesting thing is if you arguably, you know, if you were to take form and lead position are out of the they the equation for a moment and you just showed people with a vague, not like some knowledge of football and the players, you put the two team sheets down, you'd arguably still want wolves, like you'd still pick potentially wolves. i'm not I would say the greatest respect to Forrest, but I'm not going to.
00:13:06
Chris
um because you know that there's because of the amount of internationals in there and there's a lot of I think a lot of talent in our squad overall and we've spoken about this before when we've been playing badly that we felt like they're underperforming and now we're starting to see glimpses of what they can do again not completely there's still a lot to fix but I think the team sheets wise I'd still want wolves and yet you look at where they are in the league and look at the form it just goes to show it just goes to show that no matter the skill level and we've seen it with the likes of Tottenham before and Chelsea and so on when they've been up and down the table that you can have the best players on the pitch but if they're not playing as a unit and working as a team and that team ethic and all fighting for each other
00:13:50
Chris
They'll get out done and forest is showing that aren't they with the way that they are not necessarily better They're not technically necessarily better than people they're coming across but they are just working as a unit
00:13:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:14:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, absolutely. I think Nuno's got it spot on. And I think you've got a spot on there as well. I think just the way they set up is they are extremely hard to beat. They're competitive in every single aspect of the game. They've got some they've just been super efficient going forwards as well. And it helps that Chris Wood has you know, put himself forwards for Ballon d'Or this season, rather than being the Chris Wood of old.
00:14:24
Chris
And he always scores against us. So yeah, sorry to interrupt, but like it just makes me think back to the amount, even when he's not been in time sides that are doing well, he still scores against us.
00:14:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:14:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
I know.
00:14:34
Chris
It feels like he's one of those players. So I dread to think how many, how many opportunities he's going to get tomorrow.
00:14:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
And ah naturally with Morgan Gibbs-White playing behind him, it that's that's almost like a ah guaranteed goal for Forrest, isn't it?
00:14:48
Chris
Hmm.
00:14:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, the amount of times we see players come back to the Molyneux School against us. um But, you know, here's hoping in that we we, well, not hoping, I think we should we should go into this with a little bit more confidence than that.
00:15:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I think we've got some some interesting points to sort of talk about with regards to how we're going to cope with that forest threat though. We've conceived in a sort of another set piece goal against Tottenham. I know we spoke in the previous episode about hoping that it wasn't it was just sort of a fluke because we have seen some general improvement but forests are deadly from set of pieces and we paid the price last time out and with Chris Wood scoring what was you know a very, very free header. and how How do you see us facing up against their de physicality and and what they've got going forward?
00:15:39
Chris
Well, I mean, it's it's some of it is down to injuries, right? We spoke about the back line, the fact that obviously we've got a new centre back coming in who's not going to be even confirmed before tomorrow's game, and unless they do like an announcement on the day, but even then we're not going to see him for a couple, of probably a week or two.
00:15:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:15:54
Chris
But therefore, defensively, the person who arguably, you the two people that are going to be most impactful in how we defend those set pieces against Forrest, Dawson because he's going to be in in place of Totti again. I hope he's in the middle. I ah just feel like he showed we spoke about how him being on the left in the last game was the one thing that I felt was a little bit awry and showed some again his weakness in pace and he got caught out quite a few times.
00:16:25
Chris
in that position and will it be interesting to see whether Pereira keeps him there or whether he's he moves back to the middle. Either way then obviously Doc being in that back line now I think that's like he's we've got we're counting a lot I think on his on his ability to save us there um and he's spoken it's interesting listening to a recent interview with him talking about how yeah he admits that
00:16:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:16:49
Chris
He's enjoying that role since he's been asked to do it because he admits that he's, you know, going up and down the wing. He's not the guy he was in terms of pace, but he feels that he's got, he gets more involved in that spot because he can go up and down the wing and not touch the ball for like large periods of the game.
00:17:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:17:04
Chris
And now he's able to, to be more interactive. So I think it's, it's going to, I think Dawson and doc are going to have a massive input on, on whether if they have a performance is not where it needs to be.
00:17:18
Chris
We're in trouble.
00:17:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah, I agree. I think Chris Wood is like, especially this season, he's been almost like a master poacher, but he definitely almost praise on um those defenders that are ah less good in the air and less good positionally and that sort of thing. And I think you're right in saying, I mean, Doc and Dawson are both brilliant in the air or our best sort of in the air defensively. And if we compare that to maybe Santi Bueno, who I could potentially see get bullied by Chris Wood, um although he's been fantastic on the ball and has been very good and sound defensively, I think that Chris Wood would be
00:17:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
If Chris was looking at our back line, I think he'd see Santi Bueno as like the perfect opponent to go up against, if that makes sense.
00:18:01
Chris
Yeah, of the three, yeah, he's going to target him arguably like that's the one.
00:18:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
um yeah
00:18:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. And before we sort of go on to to talk a little bit more about forest and and predictions and all that stuff, I just want to give everyone listening a quick reminder that here at the Global Sports Podcast Network, we spent a lot of time selecting our delivery platform. 00:18:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
So against Forrest, out of the last five games, um we we haven't suffered any defeats at all.

Anticipation for Wolves vs. Forrest Game

00:18:45
Chris
Wow.
00:18:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
So so that that that's a bit of a positive fact to kick us off um for the predictions. um Obviously, we have to respect the fact that they are currently sitting in third on 37 points.
00:18:57
Chris
Wait, does that include the cook game where we got done with the penalty that wasn't given? and All right, just checking.
00:19:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
um'm only I'm only considering Premier League games for this for this flat fact.
00:19:05
Chris
Because i'm like in my head, I was thinking,
00:19:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah and no no thanks Thanks for fact checking me. but that that is um and We haven't defeated any of the previous five Premier League games for clarity.
00:19:14
Chris
okay
00:19:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
so So there's reason for us to go into this with some positivity, of course. um But of course, we've got to respect the fact that they are currently sitting in third on 37 points, which to me is still mental.
00:19:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
I just i mean, you know for the first sort of 10, 15 games, you kind of go, OK, teams can have a good start and have purple patches and all the rest of it. But this is you know this is almost, I don't want to say Lester-esque, but for the for the size,
00:19:30
Chris
Yeah.
00:19:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
or sort of the context of Nottingham Forest over the last two or three seasons, for them to be where they are is it truly amazing. um So we we do have to tip our hats off to them, but also, you know, we're we're on a vein of form ourselves, aren't we, Chris? So what what would what would be your initial your initial feeling? And I'm not going to get a prediction just yet. We'll leave that until a little bit later. But what would be your initial feeling going into this game, given what we've talked about with the Cunha absence and you know, Andre may be missing out as well. how how How do you feel going into this one in the in the context of things?
00:20:25
Chris
There's a couple of things first that I want to to just know. One is I'm both happy and frustrated to see Nuno doing well, if that makes sense. Obviously great, like legend for wolves, I think everything he did for us was fantastic. And I'm still sad that he left in the way he did. I think that COVID era really impacted him massively. And if you look back now, where he was in the, where we were in the table and how we performing it wasn't necessarily, you know, that bad.
00:20:54
Chris
Uh, so, so it's a little bit harsh.
00:20:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
you Yeah.
00:20:56
Chris
I'm glad that he's back in the Premier League. I'm glad that he's showing that he is the manager he we ah we all know he is because he wasn't I don't think given a fair crack at Tottenham so I'm happy I'm just annoyed it's with Forrest because and a big part of that is the other thing I want to mention is because of Morgan Gibbs White and and the thing that frustrates me most about morgan's Morgan Gibbs White is I really liked him as a Wolves player like ah as coming you know as an academy player and being a local ad and just everything he did when he was on the pitch, I thought he showed so much potential for us that you could see it. I mean, he's showing it now, but you could see it even in his wolves days with the very few opportunities he was given. He was constantly sent out on loan and then back and then out on loan. It felt like he was never really given a fair crack of the whip from my point of view under to some managers. And and so I just feel frustrated that again, he was

Gibbs-White's Impact and Relationship with Wolves

00:21:51
Chris
let go in the way he was. we I mean, we had to, we got an amazing fee.
00:21:55
Chris
considering his lack of Premier League performances ah at that point.
00:21:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:21:59
Chris
But the way it's then turned into this kind of vitriol, this hatred almost between him and the Wolves fans, when i don't like ah I don't get why it had to be that way, it feels nasty, and then he's turned it into this thing with the whole, ever since that Cup game particularly, with the fingers in the ears,
00:22:17
Chris
And then he's doing that fingers in the ears thing to everyone now after every goal.
00:22:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah
00:22:20
Chris
Like not everyone insults him. Why does he do it to everyone? I don't. It was just against Wolf fans. And now he does it as like his thing. It just makes him look like a petty little boy.
00:22:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Yeah It does It seems unnecessary doesn't it and I just want to pick up on a couple of things that you said there I think
00:22:30
Chris
And I really don't understand.
00:22:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Firstly, that we we thought, well, we got very good money for him, as you said, with with a sort of lack of experience that he had or sort of improving in the prem.
00:22:42
Chris
Yeah.
00:22:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
But now it is looking like Forrest got a good deal, good value out of it, to be fair. um You know, he's their captain and and really is leading from the front on his performances as well. But the thing is, it's unnecessary what he does with his fingers as he is.
00:23:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
But and Nuno is the manager who was in charge of wolves.
00:23:06
Chris
Mm-hmm.
00:23:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
when Gibbs White was sold.
00:23:08
Chris
Yeah.
00:23:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
And ironically, he's now in his best form under Nuno.
00:23:12
Chris
Yeah. ah
00:23:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's funny how it works, because you know I don't think there was any sort of animosity from the Wolves fans towards Gibbs White. yeah i don't I know that in that Cup game, he was being booed, and when he was going to take his penalty, obviously, he was been you know there's pressure put on him.
00:23:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
But it just feels as though, I don't know, maybe he just felt hard done by and he needs to find a way of ah dont know expressing it and the ball's fans.
00:23:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
And obviously if he starts riling up the fans, the fans are going to go for him, aren't they? Every time he's got the ball. So yeah, it is a shame because I agree with you. I did quite like him also. He did show, I mean, the the game against Chelsea at home comes to mind.
00:23:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he got man of the match or something and so it would beat them.
00:23:54
Chris
Right.
00:23:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know that. Yeah, it's, but yeah, enough.
00:24:00
Chris
Yeah, so I know I went a little bit off-piece, but my point was i just this whole this match every time it comes round frustrates me for some of those reasons.
00:24:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:24:07
Chris
Now we've got the added Nuno thing. Hopefully Nuno will get a great reception. I think he will. I'm sure people will sing ah for him at some point like they've done for the likes of Cody in the past or Jimenez because he's ah he's earned it.
00:24:22
Chris
So I hope everyone gives Nuno a great reception. how Gibbs White is received is really going to be, to be honest, I think down to him at the end of the day, because hes his behavior, as we've mentioned against to the Wolves fans in recent matches, seems full of vitriol. And I don't get it. And then, as I say, the that it just looks like he's throat constantly throwing his toys out at the prime with the whole ears thing. And I'm like, he does it to every goal now, and it's just a bit less stupid. Anyway, that's just the old man and me getting frustrated.
00:24:51
Chris
But if we can handle all of that, um I think a big part of tomorrow, so tomorrow's, bus I say today as this episode comes out, is gonna come down to a couple of things. One is we mentioned set pieces and whether they're defensively, Dawson and Doc, and so on can control ah Woods.
00:25:09
Chris
But also whether how up for it Gibbs White is, and also he's gonna be really up for it.
00:25:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:25:15
Chris
I know he is, that's just his way against Wolves.
00:25:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:25:17
Chris
He seems to always raise his game. Like you said, there's a goal in it. for him, pretty much guaranteed. You're not getting results yet, but I think it's going to be, I hope it's going to be a close game. I hope it's going to be a competitive game.
00:25:31
Chris
And I'm hoping that we get some points, but I, I will be. I'll take a draw to be honest with you. I'm not saying the score yet, but like, I think, I think that would be given their form, given their performances at the moment, previously in in previous seasons, we would have been like, yeah, let's get at least a draw from this, probably a win.
00:25:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay.
00:25:51
Chris
Let's go for it. Given where the two teams are at the moment, I'll take it.
00:25:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah context yeah
00:25:56
Chris
I'll take a draw.
00:25:57
Global Sports Podcast Network

so I'll put the pressure straight back onto you, Chris, and I will demand a score line prediction and with with a little bit of justification and and goal score as if possible, if there are any.
00:26:31
Chris
Mmhmm.
00:26:40
Chris
Oh wow, okay, okay, okay.

Game Predictions and Closing Remarks

00:26:42
Chris
All right then, I'm gonna say, actually, I know I just said a draw, but let's be optimistic. I said, cause I said, I'll take a draw, right? I said, I'll take, I will take a draw, but if we're gonna go gung-ho, let's say it's a, it's a Monday night. It's still, for a lot of people, the holidays, like it's the, this week, a lot of people go back to work and school and stuff like that, but it's a Monday night under the lights at Marla New. I think everyone will be up for it because you've got that added Nuno and Gibbs White whole thing, the drama.
00:27:09
Chris
and the fact that they are flying in the league. So let's say that it's one of those nights where wolves are gonna, wolves are good as an underdog. I think we've shown that in previous seasons. We always seem to do well against the teams doing well, like the teams in the top half of the table notoriously. And I know that's not usually forest, but even with Quinerel, that's a good recipe, I think, for a good night under the lights. So I'm gonna go, we're gonna we're go to turn everything on its head. The Pereira era is gonna continue.
00:27:38
Chris
It's going to be 2-1 to Wolves. It's going to be a Gibbs White, actually no, because they both have to score against us.
00:27:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, here we go.
00:27:47
Chris
It'll be 3-2. It'll be a goal for Gibbs White, a goal for Chris Woods, because they are both guaranteed to score against us. And then our scorers will be Gedge.
00:28:01
Chris
Tommy Doyle, because you know, like with a long range screamer of some kind, and then the winning goal, because he has yet to score in a game that we have won Strandlassen.
00:28:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, okay.
00:28:13
Chris
He scored seven goals and we have not won a single one of those games. Did you know that?
00:28:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
I didn't know that actually.
00:28:19
Chris
Yeah, seven goals and not one of them has been a win.
00:28:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
that is a I guess the Tottenham away kind of felt like a felt like a win with the lateness of it but yeah I did not know that. We're we're full of fun facts here today aren't we?
00:28:31
Chris
Yeah.
00:28:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:28:32
Chris
So there you go. There you go. I've written it in the stars.
00:28:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, that was a very extensive prediction. I like it.
00:28:36
Chris
Sorry.
00:28:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, no, not at all. I think, um yeah, it'd be great to see the likes of of Tommy Doyle put in a ah really good performance. I think it would do the world a good to the squad.
00:28:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
and I know we mentioned that previous episode just... how, you know, in an interview he was saying you felt good around the current management and the way that things are going. So he's hoping that he puts in a good shift.
00:28:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I guess my prediction, i I'm going to go a little bit lower scoring than you um with the optimism that Chris Wood and Mark Gibbs-White aren't going to score.
00:29:10
Chris
Mm.
00:29:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to go real boring. I'm going to go with nil-nil.
00:29:13
Chris
Oh.
00:29:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think that Molyneux in the evening, it's going to be a, I think everyone's going to be up for it. And it just kind of screams a scrappy game to me. And we're, we're due a nil-nil this season. which you We're due a boring boring, dull, dull mill mill game and it's, look, not to bring it down at the end of the episode but I feel like a nil-nil draw would also quite suit us given the context of things at the minute um and given the context of where forests are and how, you know, informed they are at the minute. I think that would be at least as a result, a good result. Obviously hoping for a win but that is my prediction.
00:29:52
Chris
No, that's fair. As I said, I'll take a draw and I'll take a clean sheet by all means, but you know, I'm being, I'm going to be Mr. Optimism today and you know, glory under the lights. It's the, remember we are, we are just around the 70th anniversary of Honved.
00:30:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Absolutely. Absolutely.
00:30:06
Chris
Let's, let's go for like, you know, nighttime illumination glory.
00:30:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
You've somehow managed to make my nil-nil prediction even more dull through that. But yeah.
00:30:18
Chris
Sorry.
00:30:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
But um yeah, you've heard it here first. It's a 3-2 victory at home under the lights. And as we tend to end these episodes, thank you for listening. And as always, out of darkness, cometh light.
00:30:30
Chris
Bye-bye.
