Premiership Preview and Personal Stories

00:00:15
Speaker
Lots to talk about. We got some winners to talk about and we got some, yeah, we got obviously, we get to tuck back into Premiership this week as well, which is always fun.
00:00:27
Speaker
Yeah. Wait a second. Wait a second. First of all, I need one of these. You need one of these. Yeah, you do. I love my job, but man, sometimes it just puts me on my ass. I hear that. I'm like just getting out of that, out of the hole. Like I was picking up a new project now that I'm like in it, finally up to speed. Yeah. Yeah.
00:00:55
Speaker
All right.

Women's Six Nations Fantasy League Announcement

00:00:57
Speaker
Let's so first of all, if you're interested, we are holding a women's fantasy sick nation Six Nations League this year. Once again, so get yourself in and it looks like there's been a bunch of awesome ones out there. I'm just Hayden's running one. Girls Rugby Club is running one. So go out there and all of them engage up into them. It's great. It's a fun competition. There's so many people that play. It's ridiculous. So
00:01:26
Speaker
Yeah. Come on in. Water's fine. Yeah, jump in. It's a good competition, and it's fun. It's a good competition, too. Right. Right. On top of all that, we'll get into a lot more of it next week when we talk about matches this weekend, which we will.

Six Nations and Superbrew Competitions Review

00:01:46
Speaker
But in other news, um, let's look back at, first of all, let's look back at our competitions for six nations that we hadn't been, um, kind of, uh, spotlighting too much. Um, the official game, uh, George one in our league, uh, our old friend Friday was second. Um, I don't know, see Richard or Rochelle. I don't know who this is. So, but we appreciate you hanging out with us. I think I know who that, yeah, no, I can't, I can't.
00:02:16
Speaker
Um, if you're the, if you're there, give us a shout, man. Yeah. So third place, pretty good. Just the same. Um, and then super brew. Um, I don't know who this guy is, unfortunately, but that also makes me kind of happy because it's like, Oh, it's something, something new. Um,
00:02:35
Speaker
Pass to Sue. I need to pass to Sue. Pass to Sue. Totally screwed that up, but that's all right. My apologies on that one. That was my goal. Where did I finish? How did I do on that? You finished below me, my friend. Sorry for you. Don't like that. Oh, I'm looking at. I must be looking for the wrong one. I'm fucking it up. No, that's the pod one.
00:03:04
Speaker
for super one. Oh, super. Wait, where am I? Yeah, I'm in Superbrew. Yeah. Well, I see you in the right one. You went. I don't know. Make sure you're not champions. Oh, I might be in Champions Cup. There you go. I'll get to it later. Yeah. Well, I know what you are. You were a couple of possible on me. Son of a bitch. Yeah. So, yeah. Well, well done to all those that came in there. Our old friend Mark came in second in Superbrew and our league as well.
00:03:33
Speaker
And then to the more important stuff though, which was FRD and TRM. I don't think there was a ton

Fantasy Rugby Strategies and Waiver Wire Moves

00:03:44
Speaker
of shifting around in TRM to my recollection. It was so crazy, which is also a possibility.
00:03:49
Speaker
Um, I didn't move. Let's put it that way. Um, no, I did. I think I came close and then, um, yeah, marketing to you by four points, by four points. Like I thought I had, I'd snuck it out from under him. Um, not quite.
00:04:05
Speaker
not quite so close. Yeah. Yeah. Mark was so Mark's one, Ben's two, George was three. I was four, um, Anton five, Justin six, Duncan seven, and Carrick pulling up the rear. Um, I think the top four were all in top 100, which is pretty cool. It is pretty cool. So, cause you, let me see where you means, means we are not fucking around. Right. No, I, so Mark was top. Where was he? He was,
00:04:34
Speaker
14 and I was 15. Damn. I mean, yeah, four points. I can't imagine there's a whole lot between you. Right. And then George, where is he? 34. So we had three in the top 50, four in the top 100, six in the top 200.
00:04:49
Speaker
OK, damn. Well done, boys. Yeah, done. And so like, OK, so where was it? Duncan came in three thirty seven, had a hit a kind of a snag there, Dunk. Right. And Carrick was in the 17 and new 1700. He was a little down there. Yeah. So but that's, you know, yeah, quality, good living. Yeah, it's a lot of competition. No, no shame in losing to
00:05:19
Speaker
to any of us, even Mark. Sorry. No, it was really well done, Mark. I'm just a little bitter. That's just best I didn't win again. Shocker of the day. That's how I show I'm angry. Thank you for winning. No, you're really a good job. Yeah, I'm super proud of how we showed this tournament.
00:05:43
Speaker
And then FRD, obviously we had a lot of, we had a lot of things come, come shake out. But, um, so in my league, it was, um, George beats, um, Cobus, we had, we had, um, Mark just barely beat Leano by two points. And then, um, I may or may not have crushed Duncan 146 to 68. Oof.
00:06:10
Speaker
Nice. I had, I had Capuzzo and I had Ioannon. That worked out all right. Actually, hold on. Let me check this a second because I need to check my lineup because neither of them were in my lineup, but I'm pretty sure I had Capuzzo. I did. I had Capuzzo and I didn't play him.
00:06:30
Speaker
Wow. Well, my choices were Capozzo or Patavani, which wouldn't have been so bad, although I think I probably would have wanted it either way. But I was like, you know what? I'm going to go with a new kid and see what happens. Right. Well, I rolled with Josh Adams, Gavin Villieri, and James Lowe. So also not bad. Not bad. I was like, I'm not going to take a chance on Capozzo. I mean, I wanted to because I had no choice. So how'd your division do?
00:06:56
Speaker
everything played out exactly as it needed to for this competition to end the way it was supposed to. For your sake. Well, yeah, and for the general order of things. Not like TRM did, Mark. Anyway, I beat Anton handily 131 to 86.
00:07:19
Speaker
Justin beat Franco, which which I needed him to do plus I needed him to not score very high because I was behind him. Justin in total points he scored 82 was 8253 so low scoring that helped me up to.
00:07:34
Speaker
And then, um, scary Larry did beat Carrick, which, um, kept him tied. So we ended up, I was at one point one and two and in, I'm pretty sure it was fifth place. And then that was, so that was two weeks ago. And I shot up to, we all, five of us finished three and two, but, um, cause I, I shot up in the points for, I ended up taking top spot. Damn. Yeah. Look at that. Wow.
00:08:00
Speaker
We had four people at three and two in Ben's five division five. Sorry. I can't count. Yeah. Um, yeah, for our, for our division, George ran away with it four and one, um, really didn't quite get as challenged as we, as we, I'm sure he thought he was going to be, uh, wasn't actually top point score only by like a point though. So, you know, that, oh yeah, that's half a point is five, 506.2. Um,
00:08:27
Speaker
Yep. To, to 5 0 5 7. Yeah. Yeah. I was, I was, so it was me, it was, uh, George, it was Cobus and then myself, uh, Mark, uh, nope, sorry, Leanna with them, Mark. And then Duncan, geez, as well as you're doing in DRTR on prem, Duncan, that was not your best tournament.
00:08:45
Speaker
No, but this is a hard tournament. It is. You can get it. It's easy to get. Especially an FRD. Right. Because there's not enough time. And if you draft poorly, it's really hard to make up for it. Or if you get unlucky, it's really hard to make up. Can't confirm. Can't confirm. Right. No question about it. Cool. So to me, the key to this tournament is how I want it was a waiver wire.
00:09:15
Speaker
Like grab the ones you can. People don't don't pay attention to it, especially when it takes like a couple of weeks when there's like two weeks off. I got both James Lowe and Rory Darge because I was the only one submitting waiver. Oh, during that time. Yeah. Yeah. And I was like, all right, I'll take both of them. That made it for me because DuPont and Bigger were scoring, but the area had missed a game. Adams was kind of the kind of money wasn't scoring all that well. So like I needed something and.
00:09:43
Speaker
Yeah. Just happened to fall right in my lap. So well, that that's the key. You draft draft reasonably well and, and fucking do the waivers. Yeah. Pay attention to the waivers time to, to not, you know, skimp on that. Mm-hmm. Agreed. Cool. So we'll, I'll, I'll put out the points. Um, tomorrow I'll, uh, I'll tally the points tomorrow and then we'll, I'll put out the, what the standings are for CYL next week. Um,

Super Rugby Previews and Player Recommendations

00:10:09
Speaker
super.
00:10:11
Speaker
FRD. Let's see. George got me by seven. I didn't have a single upside back this past weekend. And I had the thing that kept me in it was the chief's front row. Right. George got George one. Yeah, George one. That was going back and forth. Yeah, it was. There's like a tenth of a point here, then a tenth of like a fifth. So he got me by seven. Carrick fell to Anton. That was that was a hotly contested one.
00:10:41
Speaker
You got, you got the best of Mark. That was a little bit more handy as well as Justin over Duncan was a little bit more handy. Well, let's have a peek at what's going on this week though. Um, let's see. I got Anton and what most of the laps are announced. I think, you know, when it hasn't been as crusaders, which is kind of concerning.
00:10:59
Speaker
Yeah, I have Anton, Mark, and Duncan, George against Justin, and then Ben gets a bite out of Carrick. He's doing much better in this competition. Yeah, no doubt.
00:11:14
Speaker
Yeah, he's paying attention now. Back to sleep. Joe, do one of your like 10 jobs, Garret. Oh, shit. Yeah, no, no Crusaders lineup. Yeah, that's concerning. Okay. And hopefully we have one by the time we wake up and it's not bad news. Yeah, what is our standings anyway on this one? Standings are...
00:11:39
Speaker
In the conference one, Justin, George, myself, and Mark. And then Carrick, Anton, yourself, and Duncan. And Justin's 5-0.
00:11:56
Speaker
Right? So it's top spot and then two wild cards, depending on how they go. So right now, George would be in and Anton would be in, I think. Let me double check that. Yes. Yes. Myself and you are both possibles as well. I don't quite have the score for it, but maybe my record can climb a little bit better soon. And I'm fine. I'm actually liking where I'm coming from because now I didn't do so well the first two weeks.
00:12:24
Speaker
So I'm a longer back and I'm getting, you know, I'm, I'm certainly adding to the team. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Um, start sick and we got to do this. So we got to do pick them.
00:12:38
Speaker
I think I'm going first. I have Gloucester and Worcester. The appreciation society has returned to King's home. Chris Harris is one of those guys that generally just slots right back into the team when not hurt or away. Worcester are also 10th versus centers. Start them if you got them.
00:13:02
Speaker
Sesino or Singleton are both in play. Both have scored very well when wearing the number two shirt, and most are now tied with Bath for last place against Hooks, which means I just surrender them all. Western have actually been very tough over the last four matches against Wings. No scores over 25. That'll change if both LRZ and Thorli are in the lineup.
00:13:22
Speaker
But if we see Santi Carreras in there, I'd say avoid him, despite what your eyes might tell you. So that's my note on that one. Something we didn't discuss in the previous pod, the Willie Hines news. Yes. We can now safely assume that Gareth Simpson will wear the nine shirt most weeks for Worcester. This week's a good one.
00:13:40
Speaker
with Gloucester giving up most points to Scrumhafs, nine points more than the next closest team, which is Sarries. Batley is a play, if he's back at lock, Gloucester have given up a good amount of points to at least one lock in about 14 of 18 games, including the last two matches, which surrendered 40 and 43.
00:13:59
Speaker
38 and 26 to the pair of locks each. So, he's a thumbs up for me this week, especially if he's at lock. Keep away from Waller or Sutherland. I don't know if Sutherland's band's up yet. Neither has caught their form this year. And despite Gloucester being 10 versus props, I trust about 10 other props before that. And so, yeah, keep moving, kids. Keep it moving. Move along.
00:14:20
Speaker
I'm glad you mentioned Chris Harris because I was like, I've been planning, I've been doing a lot of scheming for my premiership ads drops this week. And I hadn't even considered Chris because I need a back of some sort. I need a 10 and some utility back. It doesn't matter because I can, if he's on the bench, I can push some people. I mean, yeah, I needed somebody and Chris Harris. Like I was looking at like Louis Zamit, but he's like 40K more. So it's like,
00:14:46
Speaker
Fucking Chris Harris is a good call, though. So thank you for that. You're welcome. Now off to Wasps versus Newcastle. Wasps are third in attack, 11th in defense. Falcons are 12th in attack and fifth in defense. So it kind of is like shitty attack meets shitty defense and attack meets defense. So I think this kind of favors the wasps, though.
00:15:10
Speaker
But for the hosts, Newcastle are third versus hookers, first versus locks, seventh versus flankers that may come into play here, third versus eights, seven versus scrumhaves, eight versus flyhaves, 13 versus centers, 10 at wing, and 12 versus fullback. So lots of quality matchups, lots of places to stay away. That makes it kind of clear.
00:15:34
Speaker
For the wasps, start whoever's at hooker anyway. It doesn't matter that their third, they'll do well. Wasps hookers are going to score. Stuke and Fafita at lock, if that's the lock combination, are still, I think, bench options this week. Stuke's been scoring reasonably well, not going to do well this week. Start all the loose forwards except perhaps Shields, who is kind of off and on.
00:15:59
Speaker
Robson and Umaga are great options because of the matchup. I like Umaga's been playing really well when he's not getting red cards. That helps. And then I want to see who's lining up at winger and if they move Odagu back into the centers for this one. There could be a lot of points out there too. For Newcastle, Wasps are 10th versus Hook, 9 versus Lock, 9 versus Flyhalf, and 11 versus Wing.
00:16:27
Speaker
which obviously I'm going to point you towards specific people here. McGuigan is a full go. Peterson and Robinson, if they're the lock combination especially, yes, go for it. Robinson at Flanker.
00:16:43
Speaker
starts less exciting because of the meters difference. And Adam Radwin has a great matchup. So yes, I mentioned nine versus fly has because well, Hayden Wood is improving, but he's not ready to be a fantasy starter yet. You got to be obviously some of you out there. I mentioned looking for a 10. We talked about AJ.
00:17:04
Speaker
And no Marcus available this week so yeah, I know Marcus so it's it's what, where to go to be to see what is not your. He's not the answer don't go there. This is not the 10 you're looking for. Yeah, he's good I like him we like him a lot we have a lot of good things to say about him but yes, fantasy wise, not, not there.
00:17:22
Speaker
Not there yet. All right. London Irish and North Hampton over in Brentford. Ollie Hassell Collins is likely chomping at the bit to get back in there, despite being in and out of England camp. No playing time has likely got him ready to roll. Wing is one place North Hampton have been a little soft of late, so he's a thumbs up for me. Juan Martรญn Gonzรกlez or Tom Pearson are both okay this week. North Hampton are tough against lengths, but it's usually the six that gets the brunt of that. Those two typically play at seven, so thumbs up for them.
00:17:49
Speaker
especially if you're desperate because some of us might be. Not a fan of Tuosui, especially this week with Northampton rocking at 22 points average versus number eight and him being his average being against opponents minus four, almost minus five. That's not awesome. So that brings him down under 20, which is really less than appealing for a number eight. So we'll let him know. Northampton
00:18:11
Speaker
It could be another big day for big day ribbons. Len and Iris are 10th versus Locks and he seems to just be getting better as the season goes on. So give him a thumbs up. Speaking of Lankers, Carl Wilkins has been serviceable and with a cost of 110 and Len and Iris sitting 10th versus Lankers, if you're in need, that could be a lifeline for you. Could be.
00:18:31
Speaker
Not saying it's going to be the lifeline, but it could be. Dan Bigger owners could be in for a week of low expectations. Jane Grayson or for George Herbank as well. Even more so, Warren and Iris are really, really bastards against tense. So just, yep, nope. Keep them on your bench. If not, just chuck them away into the stands if you can. Yeah, no, sorry. Love bigs, but not this week.
00:18:53
Speaker
Off to the wreck, which could very well describe this match. Back to our 13th in attack, 9th in defense, sale our 8th in attack, and 3rd in defense. But those sale numbers are generally with AJ McGinty.
00:19:09
Speaker
It's not overstate, I can't overstate how much a difference he makes in attack and defense to this team and how different they play with and without him. So they just don't have it. And it's not just that AJ is awesome. I mean, most of it is. But the other part is that they don't really have another 10 that's serviceable. So Beth, their scorers, I would look to their scorers if they exist.
00:19:37
Speaker
But again, even with the matchup, and I could go through the stats from sale, because there's spots where they're vulnerable, like they're eighth versus flankers, 10th versus scrum halves, seventh versus fullbacks. And again, all that's with AJ, so I'd expect them that their numbers go down. But I don't see any bath players that really rate a start. I know like Falatow and Hughes, they're just super expensive, and I'm not sure they're worth it. So maybe Muir, but it depends on the lineup.
00:20:07
Speaker
Um, on the sales side, now it's just their forwards. You got to look at the, you know, whoever's at hook, um, should score fairly well. Beth are, um, 12 versus hookers and lock. So Jean-Luc Dupri of fuck. Yeah. And, and, um, there are 11th versus number eight. So Dan Dupri a fuck. Yeah. Um, especially this week, if you're, you know, um, well, Tom's definitely not playing and who knows about, you know, Sam might be getting a rest. Um, but it's also playing Lester or not. So Dan Dupri is still a tasty option at eight.
00:20:36
Speaker
Right. Yeah. That's a good one. That's a good one. Yeah. And I would, I would have suggested Will Stewart, but I actually wouldn't because they were actually props. So that's not a good idea. They're seven against props. So they're not, they're not terrible, but yeah, Stewart, I don't know how well he's been playing it. You know, I'm not sure if he's the fantasy option right now. Yeah. Either way. No. Yeah. I wouldn't take a shot right now. Okay. Um, over to.

Match Analyses: Saracens vs Bristol and Exeter vs Leicester

00:21:07
Speaker
Taught them not that we're not that we're not at the so next this week. They're at the big one series in Bristol should be a fun one for the series.
00:21:16
Speaker
Max Malins should be back in the team and unless Faz starts this match, I bet McCall continues with good at 10. So Malins goes to 15. Bristol are the worst against 15s. Also, Malins was red hot before he went away with England duty. So, yeah, he's a thumbs up for me. Billy V's form and Bristol being second to last in points against versus number eight means he's a start as well. If you have him, start him this week. Big guy still trying to prove a point at this point. Tipper series benefit.
00:21:42
Speaker
A lot of Davies is not an option this week. It's a decent matchup with Bristol ninth versus Scrum Haps, but I'd rather take another Scrum half with a tough matchup that's higher performing than him. Like it is just.
00:21:56
Speaker
It's not good, no thanks. For Bristol, speaking of, Harry Randall is back with a very good matchup. This will be an example of a Scarmath better than Davies. Saracen continued to give up bags of points to Nines. He had a good, and he was also in good form before he bolted for England.
00:22:14
Speaker
Bad news for the rest of Bristol players is there's only one other guy I might start and it's Stacker, and that's because he does other things to get him points that aren't the line out throws. So that's usually the concern with hookers. The rest of, yeah, not so much. And to note specifically, Fitz Harding, who we love, I don't love the idea of starting him. Sarries are top two against the whole of the back row, so it doesn't matter where he starts. He's a bench at best right now, unfortunately.
00:22:43
Speaker
I think so too he takes a lot he, he's quite good when the defense is a little bit jumbled, and that's not what you're going to see this week. Alright, off to Exeter hosting Lester. Exeter ninth and attack 12th in defense, Lester seventh and attack and first in defense.
00:23:06
Speaker
doesn't match up hell for Exeter because Lester are kind of geared towards beating teams like Exeter pretty, you know, without breaking too much of a sweat because Exeter aren't going to test, you know, even with, you know, the England players back, which I guess is really just Sam at this point because LCD is going to be hurt for a while. Oh, and Slade.
00:23:32
Speaker
Yeah, but we're still going to see fucking. Oh, and we'll be back. We're still going to be seeing Ian Witten as the other. So and it's still going to be yours at six like that. So either way, avoid the type five for Exeter. I think Sam might be the only forward worth starting at all. I don't know. Vermeulen is not going to find too much space, certainly not against his countrymen.
00:23:56
Speaker
Uh, find other options other than Joe Simmons, the back three might still be worth starting if they, they, they do spin it, which they will every so often. Um, they'll get some, some meters and some line breaks because they're, they're just talented out there. Um, on Lester's end, Exeter's defense against certainly against the front row is awful, but they're 13th versus props last. They're 11th versus hooks. They're last versus locks and flankers. They're eighth versus number eights. They are second versus scrum halves.
00:24:25
Speaker
But the other 12 versus fly have since 11 versus centers there they just, there's points there, a lot of points to be had and Lester have some points course. I'm assuming Genj comes back because he's, you know, he's a captain and he's going to want to play for his club when he is when he's available so
00:24:42
Speaker
Thank you for those of us who kept him through Six Nations anyway. Montosia and Dali are absolutely, whichever starts is a good option. And whoever is not starting, if they're on the bench, if you have them, then do that too. Wells is a great option this week. He's been kind of MIA for a little bit fantasy-wise, but he's starting to come back.
00:25:09
Speaker
He's going to have a great matchup this week. Liebeberg and Visa. George Ford is going to rake this week as are both of the centers. Hold off on whoever's at nine. If it's JVP for a week to give the old man a rest because I saw him hanging out with his family this week just now on Twitter. So yeah, hold off. Ben Young's won't be playing likely. So yeah, JVP said him and then stashed both the wings for this week.
00:25:39
Speaker
Yep. Yeah, not bad. All right. Of the weeks. So.
00:25:46
Speaker
This guy has been somebody we have pumped up all year, but neither one of us has necessarily had the stones, I don't think, at least, to do this. Well, one of us is going to finally do it. He's got the matchup. He's in form, and we love the player as a fans. Yes, at the very least, at this point, my star of the week for around 21, damn, of the perimeter ship is Gloucester's second row and fantasy superstar Freddie Clark. That's a good, yeah. And nobody play him now.
00:26:16
Speaker
Um, no, I would not worry about that. Um, you know, unless Ian Henderson rule, though, in this case, it would be whoever gets a red card that changes things slightly, but I don't, I don't can't plan for that. My start of the week. Um, I, I have a sneaky suspicion that if he wasn't fully fit to go, he wouldn't even be on the roster. And, um,
00:26:42
Speaker
We know this guy's a competitor and he's been out for a little bit.
00:26:49
Speaker
Uh, he had last, his last injury was an ankle injury. And last we saw him in practice, uh, training. He was running around without even strapping on his ankle. I think he's going to start. I think he's going to go 80. So, um, my start of the week is Owen Farrell. Ooh. All right. And then if I'm wrong, if Faz doesn't start, um, I'm going to, I want to lay it out here now so that, you know, it's on record. Um, it'll be George Ford. Okay. Yeah. Which is fairly straight. Also, also a good one. Not a terrible idea.
00:27:20
Speaker
All right, so my sit of the week. Love the player as often as with the sit of the week. Love the player. Form wasn't super once he went away. Playing a team that's really, really tough on matchup, really, really tough on.
00:27:38
Speaker
position in particular. So unfortunately, it's really brings it's with with love. I say that my city of the week for around 21 other prime is England and Bristol tight head Kyle Sinclair. Yeah, that's gonna be rough for him. Okay, see, I don't have any problems with this naming my city of the week.
00:28:02
Speaker
You went through all that. There's a player who I think has been overrated for some time, although he had a good run for a little bit and got a knighthood out of it somehow.
00:28:15
Speaker
He's not a great fantasy asset to begin with. He's super expensive. And this week, he's going up against just a buzzsaw for his position. And overall, just as a team. So my set of the week this week is fly half for the Exeter chefs. Joe Simmons. Yeah. Yuck. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Yeah. Yeah. No doubt about that. Yeah. Not none of the tens against Lester is just terrible. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways, so many ways.

In-Depth Match Previews: Moana Pacifica vs Hurricanes and More

00:28:43
Speaker
All right. Super rugby.
00:28:45
Speaker
So fingers crossed, Moana Pacifica, we get this game off against the Hurricanes. I think this is one of the Moanas holding games here.
00:28:54
Speaker
for the Islanders. Henry Tafu probably available in most of your leagues, because he hasn't started, has a nice matchup with the Hurricanes giving up two really good games to 12s, which is where he's slotting in. So I've grabbed him and I'm definitely starting him because he was somebody I wanted at the beginning of the year, but had picked up an injury. I think he also was part of the COVID problem. So that was also not helpful for him. So I play him if you find him out there in your league. Timo Feinga, Nuku, or Neria Fomai.
00:29:23
Speaker
Could be outside shop for those looking for OBs. Both have had at least one good game so far. Hurricanes are currently bottom against OBs. So thumbs up to both of them if you have them. Won't be a fun week for any of the Moana Lucy's. Hurricanes average under eight for all three loose forward positions. That is less than tasty. Strong.
00:29:46
Speaker
Um, speaking of loose forwards, Braden USA, we've talked about him forever and now he gets his chance from the off at number eight, which is his preferred provision. Go, go, go. Do it. Um, the real TJ is back. Perinara returns and he should be started in every bloody league out there. He's got the best matchup and has likely got loads of energy to exert. So a little bit fun. Um, imagine two years.
00:30:13
Speaker
For Super Rugby, yeah. Yeah. Hopefully, I'll buy for those that... Yeah, I mean, that's what I mean. Don't bother messing around with Aiden Morgan despite what the matchup says. Jordy is taking the kicks. And without knowing much else about the kid, fine fly half-elf, hell belts were pleased for your own sake. Right. So, to the Rebels versus Fiji Dru. Rebels are 12th in attack, 8th in defense. Dru are 8th in attack and 6th in defense.
00:30:44
Speaker
So for what you need, rebels start their front row. Vaihu, new. Everyone else is kind of a break glass in case of emergency right now. I have Tumu. Tumu was my kind of break glass in case of emergency at the Maunga. So I'm really fucking hoping the Crusaders play. But yeah, no, they just posted a picture of them training. So I'm hopeful that means that they're gonna, they'll kick off. Tell me with that.
00:31:13
Speaker
off then for the Drua. Mira Mira, Frank Lomani was a points machine. He's already shown it to you. So if you were one of the lucky few who signed him last week, you're starting him again this week. Yes, very much. Tela is a
00:31:34
Speaker
He'll get you the dumb rebels defense is not again 8th in defense. They can do some things. He'll be He'll put up some points have OC Voda Ravadomata and Ra to all should get opportunities There I ranked them higher than any of the rebels outside backs right now, which is saying something. Yeah All right Force and Brumby's
00:32:02
Speaker
For the force prior is still a start this week, despite the Brumby strong ranking gets half backs simply because he's probably taking the kicks. So I give him a go. Forest front row also might be an option. Brumby's are middle of the pack versus front rows, which is not something you'd expect for them.
00:32:21
Speaker
Like I said, a bit of a shocker. Um, don't rush the waiver wire for them though. If you have another option, cause it's still a little scary to watch the forest front row right now. Like I have them and I'm like, every time I play them on them, but the other options are less appealing. So my other front row. So there we go. Yeah, decision, have fun. All right.
00:32:42
Speaker
Could be a long day for Tony Pulu, Brumby's are first versus Obie's and the 14 shirt is a particularly notable black hole for them. Less than five on average versus the Brumby's right now in that spot. Yuck.
00:32:56
Speaker
for the Burmese, the Toms, as we previously mentioned them before, Banks and Wright, both be okay this week. Both have been punching way above their weight so far in FRD, nevermind opposition stats. So their thumbs up for sure. Brown and Valetini are both goes this week. Force give up about 16 on average to both sides of the flank. So Yahoo, points, points, points. Ryan Lonergan, tough day in store for him. Force are one versus halfbacks.
00:33:23
Speaker
unless he has the T and riding you on it doesn't. That's the only stipulation I'll throw in there. If he's got the T, he might be okay. But I don't like I don't know that piece of information. If somebody does, please tell us because I would really, really like to know that bit of information. So there you go.
00:33:42
Speaker
Off to Highlanders versus Blues. This could get ugly. Highlanders are 11th in attack, 7th in defense. Blues are 1st in attack and 10th in defense. So their inability to stop anyone matches up with a team that doesn't know how to beat anyone.
00:34:01
Speaker
So the Highlanders front row. Yeah, no. About that. Frizzell as a go. Mitchell Hunt has been decent fantasy-wise. Punevay is a midfielder in FRD and generally, but he's playing it outside back. So that's always a good option with your centers are playing on the way. For the Blues, all their loose forwards have scored big.
00:34:30
Speaker
Um, highlanders are number two versus scrumhaves, which is odd, you know, given the rest of their defense, the one thing they do is they, I mean, kind of makes sense given who their, their scrum half is. Um, so take a pass on thinly Christie this week, but the rest of the back line ever, everyone.
00:34:47
Speaker
Just go. Put them out. They're going to run. It's one of those... There might be one guy who doesn't score well. 90% of the time, it's not going to be your guy. There's... Damn. Roll the dice. It'll do well. Damn it. That's not what I wanted. All right. Oh, wait. You have another team, don't you? I do. Yeah, okay. So wait a minute. I'm in trouble with the gun here. My fault. Oh, okay. Oh, no. I have another matchup after you.
00:35:16
Speaker
You're good. I'm okay. I was confused. No, I got the Highlanders and the Blues. I have too much beer. All right. Chiefs and Crusaders. I'm on a roll right now. Chiefs and Crusaders. For the Chiefs. Bryn Gatlin is in good form and the Crusaders are actually a bit of a soft spot at fly half. So starting if you got them. Alex Nankerville Crusaders are also not great against midfielders on average. He's been solid so far. So he gets a thumbs up. Yee-hoo.
00:35:46
Speaker
Speaking of front rows to avoid, avoid the chief's front row if you can. Crusaders sit third versus front rows and are probably only going to get better, which is terrifying. For the Crusaders. So chiefs are kind of middle of the table against Scrumhafs. And if Tarangi's in there, he's probably the livelier of their Scrumhafs. So I would give him a whirl. So, yeah, this just wanted to throw out there.
00:36:18
Speaker
Any of the back three are really viable right now. Will Jordan, Banga Nuku, Bridge, all playable. Chiefs have an OK ranking against OB, I think. I'm going to double check my math here. Yeah, they're like middle of the pack. They're five. So not awful, but not great. But still, they, yeah, no, I'm OK with it. And yeah, and also remember the whole like the Chiefs beat the Crusaders thing before they're going to be mad. They're going to be mad. A little bit of anger there.
00:36:38
Speaker
Also, I mean, because you need to be told that...
00:36:47
Speaker
Yeah, for also on the other side of the coin, though, for crusaders, David Haveli has not been great. And again, the Chiefs are looking at, you know, a middling rank, but 12 is also one of those positions where, you know, if we have to pick a 12 and a 13, 13 is usually the option. So that's like Braden NR usually. So I give that I just kind of temper expectations and or find another midfielder not named David Haveli if you can help it. Right.
00:37:17
Speaker
All right, last match of the week. My understanding is correct, my calculations. Reds versus the Waratahs. Reds struggling in attack, but still sixth somehow. They're fourth in defense. As I said, they're fucking strong. The Waratahs seventh in attack and second in defense. Also kind of a surprise there because they've been pretty strong on themselves.
00:37:40
Speaker
This could be a lot like last week's match for the Reds. Start their front row. Expect lower points from their loose forwards. They'll score, so you still want to start them, but you can't be relying on them. You're still going to need points elsewhere. Hold off on Tate this week. If you can avoid starting him, I would do it. Yeah, that too.
00:38:02
Speaker
O'Connor is a must start because he's scoring somehow all on his own without much help on the outside. But the back line is still potentially worth the fill-ins. But again, kind of take the bet that the Reds actually start humming again, potentially.
00:38:21
Speaker
We'll see. Yeah. On the other side, I mentioned him earlier, Charlie Gamble for for the water has has been excellent and he's playing again. So have them in your lineup until they take him out. I have I picked him up last week as a flyer. And no, it's I think it's a real deal because it's like three in a row. He's had a rate of quality weeks. Other than that, look to the outside backs like Phuketi at 13. Newsome, Nwakon and Owasi and Harrison, all the way to Nwasi.
00:38:51
Speaker
Yeah, I, yeah, I'm starting him in one of our leagues because like I took the flyer on him and I want to see what he can do. Totally, totally, totally. All right. Other weeks. All right. So my start of the week. Love the guy.
00:39:09
Speaker
So I love to give this one and hopefully I don't put the hex on him. Love the guy, love the matchup, love the fact that he's had a little bit of rest and the fact that he plays where he plays, he does what he does and he finds so many freaking ways to score. My start of the week for round six of Super Rugby Pacific is All Blacks and Hurricanes back three player Jordy Barrett. Oh, interesting. Okay. Yeah.
00:39:37
Speaker
Okay. Not that I don't like that.

Super Rugby Standout Players and Impact

00:39:40
Speaker
Where do you think I was going? Where I thought you were going, which pretty much applies to everything you just said, except for the position. So copy that and paste it and cut out the back three and say half back.
00:39:56
Speaker
Uh, my start of the week this week, um, is TJ parinara. You all right. Yeah. He's going to be full of loads of energy. No question. It's a match. It's a good matchup. It's, um,
00:40:10
Speaker
Yeah. And it's TJ Pernara. I mean, I like, yeah, he's like, he's my recollection is that he was a high score in fantasy, like, you know, with a good scrum have doesn't look. I mean, look at Aaron Smith. You don't want him on your fantasy team, like FAF the clerk. You don't want him on your fantasy team. TJ Pernara, you want on your fantasy team because he's just going to do fun shit and score some points. So, yeah, I'm looking to him this week. Yeah. I'm starting him over.
00:40:40
Speaker
shoot, who is Frank Lomani, which is saying something. Yeah, I think Lomani scores incredibly well, too. Same. I believe that as well. All right. So for me, so the week I spoke with this guy already, his matchup is just downright awful. His opponents are very, very nasty to his protection position in particular. And
00:41:03
Speaker
He just hasn't, he also just hasn't got it done. So unfortunately, people that are going to be desperate for this position are going to be a little disappointed because my suit of the week for round six of super elite Pacific is for swinging our Tony Pulu. And I have him in one of my things. So I was like, what do I not play? Oh, I don't know if I can play him. So I'm doing the worst thing.
00:41:24
Speaker
If there's something worse than picking your own player for sit of the week, it's picking your opponent's player for sit of the week. I don't want to do it, but I had to. I mean, I did it before I knew it was his. Oh, shit. But yeah, it's even worse, almost. But I mentioned it earlier, the Highlanders, their only one spot that they defend
00:41:48
Speaker
is the scrum half position. And, um, Finley Christie has not been a great score as it is. Um, so just, yeah, temper that even more. And there you go. He's my seat of the week. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Sorry, buddy. Like, not this week. Yeah. Like, I like him too. Not this week. Nope. Nope. All right. Pick them. All right. We got to the from Gloucester Worcester Gloucester.
00:42:17
Speaker
Yeah. Wasp, Newcastle. It's at the CBS. So I'm going to take Wasp. Yep. I picked a lot of these based on home team because they're tight matchups. London Irish and Saints. Irish. Here you go. You get a chance to catch up. I'm going to take the Saints. Bath sale. I'm still going to take sale.
00:42:40
Speaker
And Beth have won three straight. They're, they're humming. They're playing solid teams. They're playing better teams. Then they've won a couple in a row against teams that are better than sale. We'll bring to the, to the rec. So I'm sure, I'm sure we'll hope not.
00:42:56
Speaker
Uh, series in Bristol at talking prosper. We're going to go series because they're home and Bristol aren't very good anymore. Um, extra Lester, Lester, Lester. Yeah. So that's the one where it's like, no, I don't care. You're the home team. Yeah. Other teams better care of that. Um,
00:43:14
Speaker
Super Rugby. Pacifica and Hurricanes. Canes. Hurricanes. Yeah. I hope the Pacifica give them a game, but yeah, hopefully don't lose. Yeah, I think. Yeah, it'll be a lot like last week, I think. Right. Rebels and Drua. Did the Rebels get revenge? I think so. They were so damn close. I do not. OK. I think that, again, I think the Drua have been increasing their team play and the Rebels are still just
00:43:45
Speaker
Just we'll find out. Yeah, I guess we'll find out. Uh, forcing Brumby's another in Western Australia, but Brumby's.
00:43:52
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, that could be the force advantage because that trip ain't fun. It could, but it's a good Brumby's team right now and the forces are still not quite up to standard. Right. Highlanders and Blues. It's going to be a track meet that I don't think Highlanders have the... No, they do not have the... No, they do not have the artillery to keep up with that.
00:44:22
Speaker
Chiefs, Crusaders, I don't think you get them twice, buddy. I think we do. You do? All right. I do. Yeah. I mean, again, who's who's playing for the Crusaders? We'll find out. We'll find out. But the Chiefs, I've been genuinely impressing me. So it's not it's not just that I think, you know, I'm puffing them up because they're my team. They've been that's where I rate them at the moment, this higher than the Crusaders at the moment, and especially hosting.
00:44:51
Speaker
Yeah, I might, I might do you fairs, might not. Reds and tots, reds. Reds. Yeah, especially back in Brizzy. Help some. Hello. I saw my cat coming in and crowing about killing the...
00:45:08
Speaker
Crinkle ball. I don't know if that came across a few minutes ago. But yeah, the honking outside. I heard that. That's all. That's all. All right, cool. All right, we got that one done in a slightly more timely fashion.
00:45:26
Speaker
Yeah, so fancy rugby podcast at gmail.com. I'm gonna do my due diligence tonight to make sure that I get all the good stuff, except for tomorrow. So if I'm incapacitated tomorrow, tomorrow afternoon, when we're ready to get rid of that sheet, Ben can do it. Yep.
00:45:41
Speaker
And then, uh, yeah, and then we'll have everything on Friday, once again, like we used to. Um, so yeah, although I won't be able to watch the Friday, Friday game right away, I got things to do. Oh well, that's how it is. But yeah, fancy rugby podcast at gmail.com, tweet at Ben or I asked you fry on, on Thursday and Friday. Um, yeah, any questions, um, buy Georgia coffee because he was busy this week and he deserves it. That's what I say. Um, other than that, thanks a lot for hanging out with us. Enjoy the rugby. We'll catch you all next week. Have a good one later.
