every club, every day. The Global Sports Podcast Network. Hey, everyone. Welcome into Daily Wolves. As always, I am Chris. And with me today from the Liverpool team is Adarsh. Welcome in, Adarsh. Welcome into the Wolves Dugout. Yes, very, very, very happy to be on the Wolves Podcast. i' Looking forward to the game on Saturday. I bet you are. Yeah, i just came off a 5-1 win against West Ham in the Cup, so buzzing.

Liverpool's Season Performance and Key Influences

00:00:29
Speaker
But Wolves be a different test.
00:00:31
Speaker
Well, i'm I'm glad to hear you put us in that light. I'm i'm sure you're feeling a little bit more confident than you're lessing on. ah But yeah, we are recording this like directly after your your recent cup game with West Ham. So you must be feeling pretty chuffed right now. Yeah, no, feel feeling good. um Obviously, winning the cups are really good and we want to sort of go for a trophy this season. But um yeah, no, just just confidence is is sky high. We had a little blip a few weeks ago against Forest, but sort of managed to get back on track.
00:00:59
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. I mean, we we got a draw against them there. I think they give every they're always up for it. They're always gritty. So I think they give everyone a good fight. So I think people underestimate them. I think, yeah, they're they're a good they're a good team. But so I guess aside from the cup, though, how are vibes before we get into like the game and and wolves, how are the vibes for Liverpool at the moment outside of the cup in terms of the season so far? Like, where are you guys at?
00:01:29
Speaker
Yeah, um I think from most Liverpool fans' point of view it was kind of a free hit of the season because obviously it's Arnislott's first year in charge, taking over Klopp is never going to be an easy job. But um I think he's kind of set some expectations and and new standards at the club in a way and kind of put his own stamp on the style of football that we want to play at Anfield.
00:01:51
Speaker
I'm liking sort of Gravenberg, who I think has been given the new license and under a slot. um Players like Gackpo, Diaz seem to be much sharper this season. um And we seem to be playing a much more possession based football, um less heavy metal ah football that we saw on the clock.

Upcoming Liverpool vs. Wolves Match Preview

00:02:08
Speaker
So it's kind of a transition for not just the players, but I guess for the fans as well, because we're so used to playing at such a high energy. um But it's also Good to see us keeping a few more clean sheets, being a bit more defensively solid. We were a bit slack at times last season. I think we went behind the most in the Premier League um ah in games. So it's good to see that sort of changes are being made. um But we'll see. It's still early days. We've had some good fixtures so far this season. um But also, we had that blip up against Forrest, like I mentioned. So yeah. Overall, I'll say I'm modestly happy.
00:02:41
Speaker
Nice, nice. So in terms of, ah you know, coming to to Wolves, how obviously, we we're at very different ends of the table. You guys are currently second on 12 points. We are now at the bottom with one point from five games. ah So what do you think the perception is ah for for Liverpool fans looking ahead to this game and and what's going on or what's your perception of where Wolves are at this time?
00:03:07
Speaker
Yeah, I think um if I look at Wolves as fixtures, they've had you guys have had Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa, who yeah all are quite difficult opposition. You've obviously lost those games and then the game against Forest. I think you've been unlucky, actually, if ah um if I'm going to be honest. Arsenal is always going to be a difficult game. Chelsea, you were in it until the second half, you kind of capitulated, but that was unfortunate. um Villa, you went ahead and you were leading until 74th minute.
00:03:34
Speaker
Newcastle as well, leading until the 74th, 74th minute as well. So it's kind of, and yeah and you lost to basically a worldie from Harvey Barnes. So I don't think, I think very fine lines, which obviously make, make or break football, but I do think there's positives from a wall's perspective. I think the style of football, I mean, the goals you scored against Newcastle was beautiful. Even Kunya's goal, the press, there are threats from all sides and Liverpool will have to be on top of that if we're going to get a result.
00:04:01
Speaker
I always think more than you as well is one of those fixes. If you're not on it, then you could you could suffer. we I remember a few seasons ago, we lost three nil there and that was a horrible, horrible day. um i must write but um Yeah, I think there's threats from from Wolves that we should never we shouldn't underestimate. and ah To be honest, I don't think you deserve to be put on the league. From a Liverpool fans point of view, I think Everton should be bomb. The league is pretty pretty obvious. But um i think I think Wolves will, I mean, Liverpool again, another hard game for you guys. In a way, it's kind of good you're getting all these hard games out of the way and then you can sort of pick up those those points ah along the way for easy games.

Challenges and Morale Issues at Wolves

00:04:37
Speaker
But what what do you what do you think of your start to season?
00:04:40
Speaker
Yeah, it's obviously been a ah big, there's lots of debate obviously in the the Wolves crowd at the moment in terms of the start to the season and and where we're at with only one point. um hi um I enjoyed the note on Everton just because like, how are they still in the league after these seasons? It's always like last day survival, what is going on? It's just crazy. Anyway, that was a different tension, bless them. um But yeah, we are, we knew coming into the season it was going to be a ridiculously tough start because for some reason,
00:05:08
Speaker
the fixture system has just been like, yeah, let's give them all the big boys up front. And on the one hand, yeah, great, we can get through them and then potentially look at all of the things to come that would presumably be more beatable. However, we keep having this debate that, you know, every game is a tough game in the Premier League. And in the past, we've usually taken points from the big teams anyway. And um arguably, we talk about the fact now that, you know, we're a bigger club than we maybe perceived, you know, we've got starting lineups got like three Brazilian internationals in it, we should be competing, no matter what, you know, and and, and we've, we've been leading a lot of these games, and they say the last 15 minutes or so just kind of capitulating. And there's a concern that you get to, you look at this run, because after you guys just ran the corner, we've got Man City still to come. um Like, you know, we literally it could be that looking at the teams,
00:06:05
Speaker
in the next two or three fixtures, it could be like November and we're still on one point. And so if at that point comes and then you'll go into the likes of the teams that we should arguably be getting more points from, Brentford, Crystal Palace, all those teams.
00:06:18
Speaker
is the morale at that point like too far gone because you know you can see it now when the villa got when villa equalized despite the fact the first half we dominated that game and then second half we came out and just kind of sat back which is what we keep doing we're not killing off games we're not getting the second goal we're just kind of sitting back second half Once that equalizing goal went in, every Wolves fan was like, we're going to lose. We just knew it. You could see the players' heads drop because we're on a losing streak and the the concern is that that will just roll on despite the quality, despite the fact that we're scoring some great goals. The the last the last like last part of a game is just you can feel the anxiety.
00:06:59
Speaker
gripping everyone. And the concern is, you know, if a goal if we concede, then the the crowd at Molyneux can be great. Yeah, but it's at that point where it's going to start bubbling. If you guys score early, it's just going to be a miserable afternoon at Molyneux and the the crowd will turn quite quickly. I think given the current situation. Yeah, no, i i I guess as well, when confidence is low, it's going to be quite hard for both the fans and the players to sort of pick that up and, you know, really drive the team. But from From an optimistic point of view, I think gar ah Gary O'Neill, since he's come into wolves, has done an absolutely amazing job. And I really, really hope wolves don't sort of jump the gun. And if the results aren't going their way, kind of get rid of him because I think he is a top top manager.
00:07:42
Speaker
um And um i i I back him out to to turn it around. And I'm sure i'm sure a lot of Wolves fans will probably feel similar. um But yeah, from I just think from a little fan's point of view, it is going to be a tough game. And I think we would have to, I think players like Lamina, Kunia,
00:08:01
Speaker
I'm a big fan of Lamina. I think he's a really good midfielder, combative. Yeah. I mean, he became captain this summer for a reason. Last season he was effective. Kilman was captain, but Lamina was very much captain without the armband. You know, and and when Kilman left, it was the natural thing. Like everyone knew it was going to be him. So it's good to hear you say that he's from a Wolves fans perspective, he is like the players, the players player. Yeah, if you know what I mean. Yeah. I mean, that made no sense at all. That made no sense at all. But I know what I meant.
00:08:31
Speaker
Yeah, um um I got what you meant. I got what you meant. Yeah. um Yeah, so it's going

Player Transfers and Match Impact

00:08:36

to be interesting. global sports, podcast network, every club, every day. But I mean, you knew that I'm preaching to the choir. So it's just for everyone else out there that doesn't know that in case you stumbled upon us and you're like, who are these people? That's what it's all about. So um you mentioned a couple of names there looking ahead to the game at the weekend. um In fact, looking at recent history, I mean,
00:09:25
Speaker
The last six matches, Wolves have only won one. I'm guessing that's going to be the three-nil that you mentioned because that's the most recent one that sticks in my mind. One draw, we lost four um because, yeah, the last couple of seasons hasn't been as good. But um is there, who are the players that stand out to you as you come as you come to mauling you? Is there certain players that from the Wolves perspective that you're concerned that could give Brie a threat to you guys? like where do you see Where do you see the possibility for for Wolves to bring a threat to you? Do you know what? i'm i'm and I know, like obviously, Wolves have had a difficult start to the season, but I think you're midfield free of Gomez, Andre, the new signing, who I'm a big fan of, and Lemina will be a very very interesting battle for our midfield free, because it's McAllister, Soboslai, and Gravenberg, obviously, have started the season really, really well.
00:10:16
Speaker
but Our midfield is quite attacking and quite forward thinking, whilst your midfield seems quite combative and quite dominant. And I feel like the midfield will be really, really interesting. um I say dominant in terms of like the physical um attributes of each of the midfielders. Andre, I think, i I remember watching the Newcastle game in particular, I think he made everything look so easy. He looks like he's been in Premier League for for a number of years. So really, really interested to see him play. And obviously Liverpool were linked with him for for a number of seasons as well, um to be that number six replacement. We obviously didn't get him. but Yeah, I think the midfield, I'm really interested in those three. I think Jal Gomez and Andre in particular have very high ceilings. I think they could really, really push on and hopefully when they've settled in a bit more, particularly Andre, when he settled in a bit more, could propel you guys up the table. So I think the midfield would be where I would target, well, I would see as the biggest threat from a little fan's point of view. But I would also say, Cunha,
00:11:15
Speaker
he he's a piece of great player as well. I love his energy, I love what he can bring to the team. That finish against Villa as well was brilliant. So yeah, they would be the the players I would say. What about from ah from a Liverpool point of view of players? I mean, you've got so many threats, it's kind of scary. um I think from from a personal perspective, I will say I'm always um It is just a fit right now, is he? is he Yeah, yeah. yes because yes I have to say he I'm always I always feel sad when he plays against us. And I'm always praying that he doesn't score against us because it just hurts. Yeah. and um
00:11:53
Speaker
There's a there's an element i said to someone a while ago and i am in one of the conversations that cropped up the sale of jotted to the pool is still just feels like i think i put it as the wrong player at the wrong time for the wrong price it was,
00:12:08
Speaker
From our perspective or my perspective, it feels like he was undervalued. we we It feels like a sale where we got ripped off. The club undervalued him. It was really showing more than he was capable of. That's why you guys came in for him. um You look at some of the goals he scored for us, the runs against Manu in the cup. like the track it like just the length of the pitch and and beating people and putting away some worldies and even then uh you know when that's because the point we were pushing into Europe and went into the Europa League and everything and so despite all your other threats for me it's it's still jotter just because i um it whether he's starting or whether he's off the bench i just
00:12:49
Speaker
It's both it's both painful and I know how dangerous he is and it and it still hurts me that we let him go when we did. I feel like we could have held out for more and got more value for him and maybe got a bit more from from him in terms of performance. We've lost other players more recently and had them for longer, maybe had more of an impact like Nevez. There's some players that move on and you feel that it's their time, if you get what I mean. You respect that a player moves on and you're like, okay, it's their time to go to a bigger club or for more money or whatever it is, or to play in Europe. You kind of almost salute them and be like, yep, you've done your duty. Go and do your thing and show everyone else what you can do. And so fans were sad, but also understanding when Nevezgan went, even though he went Saudi Arabia, which no one understood. And the price was good and he'd done his service and everyone knew that he was going to go. Similarly for Kilman this summer, it hurt.
00:13:44
Speaker
kind of a little bit that he went, but yeah for the money was too good. And he'd been with us since the academy, essentially. So he's come through the ranks and done fantastic. But the Jossa one is still like, really? it can't really headron Yeah, it it just felt too soon. and it And it didn't feel right. And I think one of the players we got in return was, ah is it Hoover? and And like, gosh, that's not worked out after i one again. there's Yeah, it's just no. So yeah, that's a very long winded answer to that. But it's still still painful. Yeah, no, I think he's but since he's come to Liverpool, he's been unbelievable. I think he's carried sort of carried that form. And I think for a lot of Liverpool fans point of view, when he joined, we kind of we didn't really know what to expect. um Before, because at the time we had Manet, Sal and Firmino, it was like almost impossible to break into that.
00:14:35
Speaker
front three at the time, but he he's just sort of ploughed away, kept going, kept going. He's probably the best finisher at the club ah in Liverpool. he is His finishing is um unbelievable. He gets a chance, he finishes it. um It's unlike someone like Nunes who can snatch at chances and has been so, so frustrating since he's been in English football.
00:14:52
Speaker
um But yeah, no, Jota, I think he's he's he's been outstanding. Today, he scored twice against West Ham.

Wolves' Defensive Dilemmas and Strategy Adjustments

00:14:59
Speaker
He looked he looks on fire. so And he came off probably around 60, 70 minutes, which gives me an indication that I will probably um start on Saturday. So yeah, I think he'll be starting on on Saturday. And we'll see what happens.
00:15:16
Speaker
Yeah, I reckon so. It did make me smile a couple of seasons ago. Was it not long? I think not long after he'd probably gone to you guys, um the more than that, probably more than that then though, that he came back and played against us and there was a moment where he was practically thrown goal and I think he'd beaten the keeper and Cody got on the line and like blocked the shot. It was basically an open goal aside from one defender who threw himself in front.
00:15:37
Speaker
And I remember Cody saying in an interview afterwards that Jota came up to him as they walked off the pictures like, how how did you like know where to go or something? and And he said, because I just know you're just going to put your boot through it and not aim or something like that. I just stood right in the line of fire. and That always made me chuckle.
00:15:55
Speaker
um i Right, so we've spoken about some key players and we've spoken about where you're on the table. I suppose the biggest concern from a walls perspective at the moment that we have is also just our defense. We've been leaking goals as you're you no doubt aware. I mean we've conceded, what is it, like 15, 16 goals or something crazy? Like, I don't know. No, minus nine. We're minus nine. But if you can't league league ah cup games, it's even more. And it's just startling. There's a lot of call from from fans at the moment for whether there's the old debate coming back of whether we should switch to about five.
00:16:33
Speaker
because all of our success pretty much in the Premier League has been with a back five of some description. um All pre-season though, Gary and Ils had us playing and training in the back four, and then they've been doing this back four formation, but we've been we've been conceding more and more and more. and so that And then at the weekend we lost Mascara to an MCL injury. Oh yeah, I'd see that, yeah. who's been ah Even though we've been conceding goals has been um like absolutely ah probably a starlet coming forward for us. He's been out on loan the last couple of seasons, come back, looks like he's settled in really well. And then to five games in, get this injury when we are short of centre backs is going to be a big challenge this weekend, I think, to to fill that gap.
00:17:20
Speaker
And so that's another risk for us in terms of we're going to be more open and that the back the back line is going to be even more unsettled. Yeah, probably if he's fit enough, it'll be Totti coming in. If he's not fit, it'll be Santi Bueno and neither of them. I mean, Santi Bueno has not had much Premier League experience at all. So to be honest, yeah, but the back line is going to be a little bit shaky to say the least. What did you make of? um Because obviously, Ciao, Jose Sars started the season, right? And then obviously, Johnson came in. How have you made like his that adjustment and that change from Gary O'Neill because Jose's husband, your keeper for a number of seasons, very reliable. And I think he didn't start season very well, which I think obviously prompted Walsh to go in the market. But, Johnston, what do you think of him in goal at the moment?
00:18:05
Speaker
It feels like a sideways shift it doesn't feel like but it doesn't feel like there's an improvement um the debate around there's a couple of points around it one is that yes I has dropped form recently but also that they want someone who's gonna who's better with the ball at their feet.
00:18:23
Speaker
Whether or not that Sam Johnston haven't really seen enough of him yet in a wolf shirt to to really. See that there's much of an improvement there, maybe a little bit, maybe he's a little bit better with his feet, but I don't think it's necessarily I mean we he's what 31 we paid like 10 million pounds for him it just seems there was other positions that we needed.
00:18:42
Speaker
ah Filled a lot more center back as I just mentioned is one of them cuz we knew we knew like Kilman went and that's like 40 million and and Like please replace the center back. Yeah, cuz he was massively solid for us um but no instead we've spent 10 million on a replacement keeper who doesn't really feel like an upgrade um because whatever you think of Saar, yeah he's not great with the ball of his feet but when he doesn't have to think he's an incredible shot stopper, yeah ah he saved a number of one-on-one chances that you know another keeper would have just let in not a problem. So yeah it feels a little bit sideways, it doesn't feel like a massive improvement um but by all accounts it seemed like he was on the verge of going
00:19:25
Speaker
There was ah seemed to be a plan where he was going to potentially go in the transfer window to a club maybe in Saudi Arabia or somewhere else. and that kind of And they brought in Sam Johnston thinking that deal was pretty much done, that they were going to swap one out for the other. And it ended up falling through. so he But they'd already signed Johnston thinking it was going to complete. And so he stayed.

Future Game Strategies and Mindset

00:19:46
Speaker
And now he's on the bench. So the likelihood is in January he'll probably go. But yeah, it doesn't it feels like sideways shifting and not and anything else.
00:19:54
Speaker
Yeah, okay, not stomach that makes sense. Yeah, no, I think, because both keepers are very solid in my opinion, I think, um yeah, you're right, there's not much difference between the two. um But it would just be interesting to see like, how obviously, Johnson would probably be a lot more busier than probably Kelleho thinks can be in golf a little bit. Alison still a doubt.
00:20:13
Speaker
um But yeah, umm i'm i'm I'm looking forward to the game because I think i think going to morning news is actually always a tough game. it's not it's never easy You never guarantee three points. It's kind of it's like one of those stadiums. I always think of Wolves, Palace, ah Southampton back in the day. Well, not not right now. I think there's still probably.
00:20:31
Speaker
a bit a bit off but um like those stadiums you have to be on it and we've got a palace away actually after after you guys so um it's got some tough like away games i feel like if you don't if you're not on your your a game you can be you could be one nil two nil down or maybe fighting for a draw or so yeah i think liberal would have to approach that game with a proper mind set and obviously we'll be buzzing off the the victory against west ham so yeah yeah and it it does feel like it as i say in the past we've always been well against you guys but at the moment you're coming at a point where As I say, it's just a little bit shaky and and if it it's going to be very easy for it, if it all goes wrong quite early on and you guys take control of the game early, then I think the crowd won't be as, you know,
00:21:18
Speaker
as a scary as it can be, because at the moment the rumblings are, you know, there's a lot of concern. So I think you're probably you're coming at the right time probably to face us because it is very shaky, the morale is a bit low. So it's going to be it's going to be different. We're not going to maybe have some of the joyous stories to tell that we normally do of the poor visits. But that makes me segue nicely to remind people that if they have a story to tell,
00:21:43

That was an amazing segue I have to say. Thanks. I impress myself. I do it every time. um It's my it's my my one caveat in life. I have to get thrilled from that. So um I rambled on a bit as we always do. But I guess the biggest question really on everyone's lips and and you know try not to be too harsh or painful is what do you see as the potential result of what's your forecast for the weekend? I think
00:22:48
Speaker
Do you

Match Predictions and Football Unpredictability

00:22:49
Speaker
know what? I actually think it'll be very similar to the filler game that you guys played. I think ah think Wolves will score, but I think Liverpool could come back. And it'll be similar to the game actually we played last season, where I think you guys scored first and Liverpool came back in the second half. So I think I'm expecting a similar game. ah I'm going to go... I'm um edging between 2-1 and 3-1, but I'm going to go 3-1, just because we're in good score scoring form.
00:23:15
Speaker
um But I do think it'll be similar to the game that we had last season. But yeah, equally as difficult. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I ah obviously I don't want to admit defeat, but it can quite having seen our recent run of form, as I mentioned, it's the last like 15, 20 minutes of games. We're just kind of just collapsing. So it could very easily go that way. However, I've obviously got to be Mr. Optimistic and and I can't I can't completely go against wolves because it's just not it's just not right. So um and and we have
00:23:52
Speaker
scored in every game i think so you know we we are capable we are dangerous like you said there's been some and that's the ironic thing that's the annoying thing is we've got some great creativity in there there's some brilliant quality when you look at across the you know the spine of the team um Strandlas and the new striker is looking, he's only scored the one goal so far, but he's looking sharp, he's looking dangerous. and He was unlucky, not score against Arsenal with a brilliant save from Rea, but he had a great assist against Newcastle where he drove the cross in with the Gomez step over and then the Lamina finish. He's looked sharp, so i um we've we've scored and we're capable of scoring, we've shown that against pretty much anyone.
00:24:34
Speaker
so I think there is goals in the game. We can't keep a clean sheet at the moment, especially with then you with whoever comes in to cover mascara. It's going to be shaky at the back. So I could see something like a 2-2 draw um because we're not going to keep you guys out. It's not it's just not given the given the way they are at the moment back in the day. yeah But right now, no.
00:24:59
Speaker
and But I can also, I'm going to put money on that we are capable of scoring, especially at home. I think so as well. I think it's, a yeah, you're definitely right on the creativity. I think Wolves are dangerous. not I think back in, under Nuno, you guys were very much a threat on the counter attack, but I feel like you're in in ball possession and like creating chances, even against Newcastle. I think you should have been 2-3-0 up before you even got Newcastle, you cost even had a chance in that game.

um On a separate note, I think Newcastle have been quite lucky in some of their games. And on the weekend, they they kind of got shown against Fulham. So I think that was a game that kind of, yeah, kind of just ran away from you. So if you have a similar game like that and you aren't taking your chances, I think Liverpool can definitely prosper. But there will be, what I will say is from a Liverpool fans point of view, whilst we have looked solid defensively, there's been moments that teams could have and should have scored.
00:25:51
Speaker
um I'm thinking back in the United game, they had chances. Even Bournemouth were very, very solid for the opening 10, 15 minutes of of the game on on Saturday. um They had a cool ah goal ruled out for offside. So there will be chances for Wolves. if it's It's just about if you guys take them, um which is obviously my fear because you never know what could happen. um To give the Wolves fans a bit of optimism,
00:26:15
Speaker
When we had Mark from the Forest team, he just said that they're going to lose. There's no chance of me predicting a Forest win. We haven't won there since, I don't know, 1963. And then lo and behold, they won. And so I just think, yeah, you never know what's going to happen in football. Maybe it might be a trait on the slot. We might be a bit inconsistent this season. We struggled against Forest, and they had a threat on the counterattack. If Wolves have that same threat on the counterattack, then we'll have some problems as well.
00:26:43
Speaker
Yeah, it's not nothing's guaranteed, I don't think, for Liverpool. No, I mean, they they have a and you know on any given day, yeah anyone can beat anyone at the end of the day. yeah And we have I do think, you're right, that um there has been elements of luck in some of the in some of the games, whether it's great saves, whether it's hitting the post and the ball going another way. you know There has been moments that you just think, how have we not scored a second goal? Some of the clearances off the line have been absolutely insane. but so So I have to be a little bit optimistic.
00:27:13
Speaker
I can't, you know, I'm not going to say we're going to lose, even though I kind of think it, but so I have to go with at least a score draw. I do think there's goal. I think there's definitely goals in the game. It's not going to be. It's not going to be a dole, nil, nil, no matter what. And I'm sure yeah let's have why I'm sure the innocent bystander, the neutral is going to probably have something to enjoy one way or another. And it's interesting what you said about Newcastle, because when we had the Newcastle crossover and before their game, they came on and said And they actually said that they thought their performance, their results were papering over the cracks because that they thought it hadn't necessarily been as clean cut as as the results were showing people who weren't paying attention. So yeah that that's interesting that you said that because they felt the same. OK, that's interesting. um Yeah, I think it's just like some teams this season, like, I mean, at the end of the day, it's about getting points on the board and being able to stay in the league or win the title. You need to win your games. But I just think
00:28:08

this season, there's just going to be a bit of unpredictability. And like some teams will just throw a bit of a curve ball. For us, for example, I did not expect them to still remain unbeaten right now. But they're they're looking a complete different team to last season. So yeah, you know what? It's shaping up to be a really good season. And

Impact of International Breaks and Football Commercialization

00:28:23
Speaker
I'm looking forward to the game on Saturday. but I just want all the international breaks out of the way before we can really enjoy like proper football. I hate the international breaks. There's too many of them. It just feels like every time you just start to get into a run, of whether it's a run of form, good or bad, or whatever it is, ah or you're just starting to build on things, or get excited and be like, yeah, there's a game this weekend.
00:28:46
Speaker
It's like, no, it's another international break. And the next one is just around the corner. yeah There's no chance to build on it. And for us, it's even worse. If you're on a losing streak, you're like, come on, you've just got to wait for another like week or two to have any chance to put more points on the board. It's just draining. It hurts morale even more. Does anyone like half these games aren't watched? I don't know. I didn't watch the last international break.
00:29:08
Speaker
No, I mean, when I was growing, I'm just going to segue now. When I was growing up, I'm, I'm, ah yeah everyone ah who listens to the The Walls podcast knows that I'm a child of the 80s and like, it was quite, it was much more difficult to watch football growing up when it was live and internationals were special. You know, the the the chance to watch an international game, an England game, was usually only in tournaments. They were very much often some of the only things that were televised. And even then, some of the games that might be because you didn't necessarily get to watch loads of Premier League or that's like top league first division football at that point, it would only be highlight some match of the day and stuff.
00:29:44
Speaker
some of those players, I'd only ever see them playing an England shirt, I didn't necessarily get to see them week in week out, because they weren't on TV all the time. yeah So you would tune in more because you're like, I get to see those players actually play ah wait and when I don't normally get to see them. So some of my only memories of whether it's Gaza or Lineker or anyone else are playing for England because I didn't necessarily get to watch them televise week in week out because you just get little tidbits. They were sacred. An England match was was special because you'd only see them every once in a while and you'd only really get them televised for a lot of the big events. And and now it's just like they're ten and like five a dozen. It's just... Yeah, there's too many. And especially the Nations League. I mean, it's just... another I mean, yeah, we've got we've spoken about this a lot on the local podcast, like just the nation's lead the club World Cup. That's this going to be at the end of this season. Yeah, I think I think it's just ah a bit bit chaotic in terms of what the football footballing world's doing the new Champions League format as well. um But
00:30:44
Speaker
Yeah, we can only focus on on the good things. which is when not when not i know I know I derailed the conversation and it's all about money, it's all about business, it's all about marketing, but it's just, you know, sometimes there's too such a thing is too much. yeah And I think pretty much every football out fan out there at the moment is not a fan of these international breaks, so they need to take the hint and cut it back.
00:31:06
Speaker
on that

Closing Thoughts and Reflections

bombshell. That was not what it was expected on a Liverpool Wolves crossover, but hey. and But we've given our predictions. We've had a nice chat. I've really enjoyed chatting. I hope it was fun for everyone else. um Yeah, thanks so much for being with us. Yeah, cheers. Thank you so much, Chris, and looking forward to Saturday.
00:31:24

Yeah, well, um well i i I don't know if I'm looking forward to it. I'm full of anxiety. I can't say I'm looking forward to it, because at the moment, I'm not really looking forward to any game. ah But that's just how it is being a walls fan right now. but some but But yeah, I keep saying to everyone, the motto of Wolverhampton and walls itself is out of darkness come of flight. So that's that's my currently my segue out of every episode. So just remember that, people, out of darkness come of flight. See you on the flip side.
