Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Games PR, and More

E108 · Unqualified Game Chat
Avatar
60 Plays5 months ago

The episode kicks off with Spencer and me addressing the wildfires affecting Los Angeles. We share our empathy for those impacted, reflecting on the challenges faced by residents and the inspiring unity shown during such crises. From there, we shift gears into a lighter mood, diving into our usual banter about gaming and streaming.

Spencer shares his recent streaming adventures with Sonic Adventure and his ongoing quest to become a Twitch affiliate. Meanwhile, I talk about the technical hurdles I’ve faced setting up a multi-person stream and our exciting plans to dive into Hyper Light Drifter together.

We also take a deep dive into our reviews of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, breaking down its narrative focus, gameplay mechanics, and how it manages to stand out from previous entries in the series. To wrap things up, we chat about upcoming projects and games we’re excited about—like Citizen Sleeper 2 and Sand Land—and reflect on some nostalgia-soaked moments from gaming culture.

Introduction and Host Welcome

Speaker
Hello and welcome to episode 108 out the gate on qualified game chat. I'm your host is our Lopez and with me today is the ACE Bonanza fit ready. Spencer, the legacy. Hi everyone. How are you this lovely Thursday? Cause that's when this goes up.

Impact of Los Angeles Fires

00:00:46
Speaker
ah Spencer, before we get into the happy conversations that we typically have on this show, I do want to set the tone early on that we'll eventually be happy, but we shouldn't we shouldn't ignore that there is a shit ton of chaos going on in LA due to fire. That's so scary seeing the pictures in the man. I hope anyone who's in LA is safe. And if you've lost anything, I'm so sorry. Cause it's, yeah, that's tragic. That's horrible.
00:01:17
Speaker
I thought I'm three hours away from LA, so I'm nowhere even like near the area. i i that the The wind's not even blowing in this direction, so we're not even seeing a lot of the the the smoke. um I'm sure eventually it might come to us. um I know when like the San Francisco fires were going on, the Valley got a lot of that air, but anyway.
00:01:38
Speaker
um Yeah, that's all I saw someone on Twitter post about their entire like game collection like burned down shine like what game and like movie collection like box like blu ray do set and like they show those holes too. Yeah. Well, I thought about it. I don't know what I would do. No, that's like all that your stuff. It's like a forced like restart on everything.
00:02:07
Speaker
I don't know what I would do. I am so sorry for all those people going through that. I cannot even imagine. I could not even imagine. i'm I try so hard to empathize too. Like try to like, oh, well, what's something that could happen to me to make me like trying to like understand that feeling because we see things in the news, but they usually put the news people were in areas that have already been the The fire's already like been put out and stuff. yeah There are still fires going on right now that are tearing through shit throughout the entire day that we're not seeing. There's no like live coverage. is It is insane over there. And I have so many friends reached out to a couple of them. A couple of press events later this month ah got canceled. So ah I'm glad about that because the airport would have been insane. yeah um But
00:03:04
Speaker
fuck anybody that's dealing with that. I'm so sorry.

Celebrity Involvement in Fire Relief

00:03:07
Speaker
I'm sorry. That's happening. That is, that is awful. That's it's very scary just to see on the news. So I can't even imagine it's, it sucks because anime expo is around a fourth of July every year in LA and ah they go hard on the fireworks out there, man. And every year I'm thinking like,
00:03:30
Speaker
they're illegal. They're illegal to launch fireworks, but they don't, they don't care. Uh, but every year I'm thinking one of these days, this something's going to happen. One of like a fire, a firework, and it's going to be over for the, like, it doesn't take much. It seems for, for some bad, uh, they're boiling it down to, uh, an electrical issue or a smaller fire that turned into a bigger fire. Um, they're, they're figuring it out, but Yeah. There's, there's, there's some craziness. It's, it sucks. Yeah. That's horrible. i'm I'm sorry to you all. And then I saw like celebrities are like helping out and stuff

Streaming Sonic Adventure and Viewer Interaction

00:04:12
Speaker
like that. And I think it's, I think, I think what we need to know too, is that celebrities, when they're not working, they're not getting paid. Like a lot of them don't have businesses or anything like acting is like all they do. That's all you see. Like, I don't know.
00:04:26
Speaker
Marty McRae comic con, comic con, you know, like people like some actors just do like the circuits of signing stuff and stuff like that. Like you can make quite a bit with that.
00:04:37
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Yeah. They're they're making their money. They're working for their money. They're out there grinding. But it's it's it's safe to say that even just because you are known or you're in a picture doesn't mean you're inherently rich after that. There's a lot. There's more steps that need to go in. And so no matter who you are of what social class, if you lost your home in that fire, it's fucking sucks. Yeah, it's devastating. It fucking sucks.
00:05:04
Speaker
um But yeah, it's cool to see everyone coming together and and helping everybody out. Unity is is the one positive silver line, silver lining. Yeah. So it is, uh, it's devastating, but you got a Zario and Spencer in your corner. If we can help. Yeah. ah I'm a country away. look And I am really fucking lazy.
00:05:29
Speaker
um ah I'll type. I'll type a hundred words a minute. i'll write up a beautiful call to a Yeah, I'll send you I'll send you 50 bucks here and there Like getting out in the nitty-gritty. i' I'm no help i'm I'm one of the people I'm one of the people in those situations where I need I'm not weak By any definition of the word I can lift something I can work do hard work, but I need everything like I
00:06:00
Speaker
this step, this step, this step, this step, you know, i laid out clear. Yeah. Any downtime. I'm on my, I'm on my phone. I'm trying to hide in the the bathroom. Like I, I'm looking for a way to get out of work. So if there's no steps there, I'm, I'm pretty, uh, useless.

Gaming Content Creation and Community Building

00:06:17
Speaker
But, uh, anyway, let's fucking talk about games. It's two weeks in a row. We're back, baby. The boys are back in town.
00:06:29
Speaker
And they will be staying there for quite some time. They'll be staying there for several weeks. You're streaming. Yes. Sonic Adventure, I think. i true Yeah. i ah I don't know. Lately, I was just like, I need to mix something up. I need to do something different while I'm doing all the same stuff. So I decided I streamed a little bit a few years ago and I enjoyed it and I was like, oh, let's try that again. So I've been um streaming the first Sonic Adventure just because it's one of the only games I know, like flawlessly inside and out. So ah one night I did Sonic Story, one night I did Tales Story. ah
00:07:08
Speaker
this thursday when this goes up that night i'm hoping to do knuckles story so i think that's safe is for your first couple of games to do games that you know well exactly that's my problem with like streaming in general is like i don't want people to realize how.
00:07:26
Speaker
bad I am. Cause it's live. There's no, uh, there's no editing. So whatever it is that you do or say or, or, or anything, will everyone will be like, wait, he said this, he doesn't know this about this game. yeah he play I play, I play games strangely too. Yeah. And I think you gotta lean into it. Like Germa, you just got, you gotta like,
00:07:49
Speaker
You gotta be like, just play your way. And then if people call it out, we just make it fun and funny. So yeah. Yeah. and if you like me yeah stuff like if I return to old games and play them, I will play them the same exact way that I played them. and i pomon gold party will like never you lawyer the same thing as i like and just like um gonna convict to to di Yeah. For some reason, there's a, there's always a Pidgeotto there for fly. It's like, I need like a knocked out of the fly. I it.
00:08:22
Speaker
You know, I like how new but like this so then you do that um But yeah, no, that's been that's been very fun um Apparently I'm according to this twitch thing It's not that hard to become affiliate. So I'm gonna try and do that for fun so I can have a little emotes and stuff. Hey ah yeah Something else something else to tick off that that check. Yeah exactly Spencer Spencer legacies Did you like that? I do. I do like that. Now, one of the things on the affiliate is you need to have 50 followers. So, hey, all of you, this is a call to action. Go to the finance on Twitch. Follow, follow me. you're link it anyway We'll link it in the, the about section in the YouTube video and in the, the email. And then I can, if once you're feeling, you can also start to make a moolah. That'd be fun. Yeah.

have a I have an emote of my face on Discord. One of our um staff writers made one. I saw someone use my picture once and it was like, stop it, get some help. But I was like, yeah, there's a meme. There's a Spencer there this metzer beb that goes, lozy.
00:09:37
Speaker
Lozy accused me of plagiarizing because I used that picture because he made it. That's funny. Good. Good job. He's always happy to be. I'm happy to be the subject of of a meme or two. Always glad. But yeah, I think also on streaming. Yeah, it was your experience.
00:10:01
Speaker
Mark, me, Mark, and, um, one of Mark's friends, Jose, that, that we get along with. And I think is a good, uh, a good, um, gamer. just Yeah. It's just a good face, you know, like doesn't.
00:10:19
Speaker
Yeah, he's it's tough because just because you're good at games and you like talking about games doesn't necessarily make you good and in a conversational setting. There's been so many times where like I'll go to like PAX or something and I'll have a conversation with but just like another content creator or something and they will go off on some of the nerdiest tangents about like just stuff like I don't really care about, you know, but I know it I know what they're talking about because like you see it on Twitch or you see it on Twitter. um The headlines that they're that they're.
00:10:55
Speaker
referencing and I'm just like, I don't want to talk about this man. Like, kind yeah. Like, Oh, I just want to play games. I ah even, especially even at those, uh, events, I, I want to, I would like to talk more shop, like behind the scenes stuff then, then really like getting to know you or like, let's talk about like how you got where you are. Let's talk about this. Who's here and what games they've made. and oh yeah that kind of more than the the basics. Yeah, I get really offended sometimes at these events to like, like, internal offended, like, okay, so inside baseball, um there's a ah PR agency called Uber strategist, good team. um But they do a lot of like indie games and and Japanese games, I'm sure you have tons of emails from them are yet.
00:11:54
Speaker
But, uh, I was at a press event and these, these journalists were, were laughing about how they get so many emails in their inbox and they're like, who's the, who's that Uber strategist? I never open up their emails. Yeah. In the back of my head, I wanted to be like, dude, you're missing out on some really fucking cool games. And they all really not nice. It's so mean to like the company, the people who work there.
00:12:19
Speaker
Yeah, it that it wasn't their press event, it was a Bandai press event, so it was a bigger game, I guess. um this is this is This is last year that this happened, but it bummed me out, and it's like, shut up, Azaria, don't make it. like But in the back of my eye, I just thought, man, you're missing out on some really cool games. ah but sorry tangent ah back to streaming mark Jose and I who okay Jose we have a good repertoire I we can talk to him he can talk back he knows the jokes he knows our community he's been ah he's been helping mark on a lot of those tech videos you'll see him in those tech videos so he's close to us um
00:13:05
Speaker
We tried to set it up yesterday and we did through some testing. it's a It's not going to work on my PC because the processing power on OBS is like insane. And then yeah you throw in like that I'm hosting two of their scenes and and then Discord. There's like a Discord angle to our setup.
00:13:26
Speaker
and And we had to like fix all the audio. Anyway, it took us three hours just to set up. wow we and we And we thought we had already set it up. we Over the weekend, Mark and I spent like two and a half hours um doing more setup or setting up the audio when he was like working. But then when we threw Jose in there, it all kind of just crashed. So next week, so Mark did spend some time today, um, fixing it. And next week we should be good to go on Tuesday to stream. And I think we're going to string hyperlight breaker. Oh, drifter. Yeah. Drifter. I think drifter one of the, that's exciting. Yeah. We're going to, we're going to stream that. It's a three-player game. So it it works. That's perfect. Yeah. Um, so that's our, that's my streaming story. I, uh, I, I'm excited.
00:14:22
Speaker
That's all. The stream's fun. streaming I don't know. it's It's neat when you like, obviously i'm I'm just starting out. So like my chat is mostly just by my friends who show up, but it's fun to have that back and forth in that environment of like.
00:14:37
Speaker
Like I'm playing through something and and my friends will make a joke about what's on screen. And then i like it's it's an interesting way to to talk with people and to interact with a game and with people as they also interact with the game. so I swear that if you and I could just be in a room together and just play a game together. It would be that same dynamic. Game grumps. Look at all the let's players. Yeah. The mo like even if I just got I should I should fly you out here for one week. Spencer just record tons of shit. We just can read record them. That's what people do. And like those content creators, they'll like Airbnb fucking condos and then just make a shit ton of content a week and release over six months.
00:15:23
Speaker
Make people think that they like are rich or whatever. like yeah if

Dynasty Warriors Origins: Narrative and Mechanics

00:15:27
Speaker
you dont If you do not see pictures of them or their family in the background of these condos, that is not their house. I'll tell you all that right now. They're faking it. They're faking it. They're faking it. Which I mean, even then, yeah it's probably expensive to even rent it, but... Yeah, let's be honest. Let's be real.
00:15:43
Speaker
um Games. Video games. Video games. We both reviewed the same game. we did and we gave very close scores too. Um, dynasty warriors origins. what do Okay. So the biggest criticism of this game is the single protagonist i'm playing through the game. how How did you, the game's about 20 hours long. It's not that long and it goes by pretty quick. I don't know if you had that same experience experience as i know because the, um,
00:16:14
Speaker
The story moves so fast because there's so much time. It'll be like, oh, remember this event from two years ago and you just did that mission and you're like, oh, okay. So it's, it's, I think that's part of it is how much time passes and and whatnot. I know it's only a section of the Three Kingdoms story, but like, um,
00:16:36
Speaker
I kind of wanted them to go slower in some parts because there are the timescip. There are some there's like three or four timeskip areas where it's just black and just text on the screen to tell you like what happened. um But yeah, what are your thoughts on the the single protagonist?
00:16:53
Speaker
um I don't mind it because the weapons are so different and because you can swap in with your partners. So I don't hate it as much as like, i thought i I do prefer like pick any of the people, but it's clear that they wanted to tell a story here with this one protagonist who has amnesia and their connection to to this organ mysterious organization kind of thing.
00:17:19
Speaker
um But I think they at least did as much as they could to make it not feel like you're stuck as one fighting style because there's the sword style, but the punching gloves, the spears, the the big sword, like there's all these different weapons and wheels and and twin twin spears. So that even if you're only playing as him and you're not swapping to to your allies much,
00:17:46
Speaker
It still is like, OK, well, these combos are pretty different. Like the this jumping attack does this. This one does that. So I think that that that was good in that regard. But I do wish you could be more actively other characters because I mean, like. There's not a ton of personality to your to the one that you pick. You can do some dialogue options, but they don't really matter. They don't do anything.
00:18:11
Speaker
And like, you you have a very, he doesn't even really like a moat and like cuts it. He'll just, yeah even when the guy's like, I saw you on the battlefield and you were amazing. And he shows him and he's like,
00:18:24
Speaker
Yeah, he literally just went, it's very strange. All right, even on the date, even though there's a couple of dates you go on and it's like really awkward because the girls are really into him and he's just like, this water is nice. this I enjoyed this room temperature water. Yeah, yeah just something like super, it's ah they're like walking and I don't know. ah I agree with you though. like I think why it works how it works is it allows you to jump the battlefield. because sometimes like a and and That's why I think the demo kind of maybe didn't really doesn't really show what the game actually becomes because later on in the game, once you get like tactics, once you unlock like even synergy attacks where you can um bring a companion in with you and and do some dual attacks together on the battlefield. Yeah.
00:19:22
Speaker
even weapons, dude, I was unlocking weapons like out the pole I unlocked like 14 hours in the game. Like you get weapons pretty late. It's it's a slow rollout of stuff. And and that's what kept me interested is like.
00:19:40
Speaker
Like people hate on the name the the this and is um the nameless but it works. and within the Within the context of of this narrative, it's like,
00:19:54
Speaker
You're the player overlooking a story that, come on, we've played this story before. I was going to say that, like there's, they've done this story before. So at that point it's like, okay, well mixing it up with, you know, an Avatar esque character isn't, I think trying that out isn't necessarily a bad thing. And slowing it down, slowing, slowing down like the, the, this was the most I've understood <unk> the the ah Three Kingdoms story.
00:20:23
Speaker
Yeah. In a very long time. And there's a lot going on. It's it's good to know because the of groups that rise and fall and and allies who become enemies and vice versa, there's a lot to keep up with. So that that pace is appreciated. I know everyone was saying that Leo Bay was the good guy, but I don't think he was the good guy. No? You didn't take him?
00:20:50
Speaker
i I picked Xiaozhiao first um because I feel like they won in they they they really have a ah way to um to make the, I don't know, the the-ish characters lean like they they give them a certain look, a villain look. Like they look like villains. And i I just thought that they were doing that for it. And I just liked his. He had a very intense stare.
00:21:22
Speaker
Yeah, and and with that choice system, I think they did a good job in in in that whole branching path too. It just gives you stuff to look forward to. There's always something to do in that game. I was never bored. I was always having fun.
00:21:39
Speaker
Um, some of those rain stages are pretty cool. Um, yeah, the rain is a neat effect. I will say there's some moments where like you get behind a ah fucking battle, a battlefield there and and you flank around the enemies and, and you just see like this huge area with all these soldiers on the battlefield and you're coming up behind him and you're like, how am I going to do this? And then you get in and you're about to just fucking take it. And then like a general far off on the side starts beating his drum. And it's like, Oh, you're now a time limit because they're rushing you. They're but like, you got to stop it. But five minutesll do this yeah there's no way you're going to get to the other side of that battlefield. So you have to like do stuff to plan it out, but you have like these four fucking generals kicking your ass. And
00:22:26
Speaker
It's a fun game. It's a challenge. There's challenge there. Uh, Lou boo is insane than most warriors games I've played on normal. Like I play, I typically, especially for review, I play every game on normal cause I'm like, this is the most tested mode. This is the most, like this is the intended experience for the most games. Um, but like there were some challenging missions, Lou boo. Yeah. It was, did you beat him in that one, that first mission?
00:22:52
Speaker
Oh, no, no, I tried. Dude, I fought him probably like. Oh, dude, to the point where I was getting really upset in that that whole mission, that that that mission where he where you're supposed to run from him, right? Yeah.
00:23:09
Speaker
Yeah. And then there's like a secret area in the treasure area or whatever. ah But so I didn't know about that secret area for the first like, I don't know, 10 tries. And I was just trying to get through all the generals. Yeah. and Because I was like, might as well take out every leader. Yeah. So I did approach that mission that way many times because I, but my ego, you know, like, yeah, I'm, I'm going to do this the hardest way possible. And, um,
00:23:38
Speaker
Yeah, I had to settle to do that, but the treasure route or the secret, uh, the actual route. Uh, I was in the second mission, but not the first one. Yeah. Yeah. The one where he's, he bought a horse, moving him off. Yeah. I was like, no, I'm going to kill him. And then I did. I think I was like, whoo. He did. I think his pro his, hit the windows to dodge are really small. So I, I, I put some, uh, the Dodge and Perry, I put some e equipment and that, um, increases that window. So I did stuff like that to, to fight them, but it's a hard game. And, and I've never said that ah in a while for, for dynasty warriors game, you hear the word, you hear the words repetitive. You hear the words, um, uh, you do the same mission over and over again, and you don't really see, you're not seeing that in the critiques for this game.
00:24:31
Speaker
only a little bit for me. just because And that's just because reviewing this kind of game is a lot different than playing, like, cause it gave us a fair amount of time, but yeah I, with the holidays and stuff, it got pushed back a bit. So like, you're doing a lot each day its and that yeah it does start to feel similar in that regard. But I do try and also acknowledge that and be like,
00:24:54
Speaker
It's because of this, but, uh, especially if you're doing, they don't really, they don't, really especially if you're doing like those little side missions that pop up, yeah i a lot of skirmishes and though but that was, but they do not tell you exactly what those skirmishes benefit in terms of like regional piece. There's like a whole tension system there. That's not really explained, but it is going on. And if you don't do the skirmishes, you you can get fucked with not getting like really good items later on. Yeah. Cause they'll leave you gifts and stuff.
00:25:23
Speaker
Yeah. ah So I don't know. It's a it's a. It's a give and take there. i I only did those skirmishes when I didn't play for like a day and I was coming back and I was like, Oh, let me practice again with trying to get used to it. Yeah. When it was like your rank is in the high enough, you should be a higher rank for the next mission. I was like, okay, I'll equip something I barely use and and do a couple of skirmishes so that my rank goes up. I had fun with this game though, because I was using weapons that I don't normally use in yourgainst the gloves.
00:25:54
Speaker
The gloves are fun. The pole is really cool. Yeah. The double the double ah ah axes when you're running through and just like mowing through a horse. He looks so cool. He looks so cool. So cool. It's awesome.

Future of Dynasty Warriors Series

00:26:12
Speaker
Yeah, I'm glad I am glad that others picked up this game and lot people talking about it online.
00:26:20
Speaker
I hope, I don't know, do you see this being like the direction of Dynasty Warriors in the future? Like, are we going to get a One Piece Fire Warriors in this style? That would rock. That'd be pretty cool. I wonder, I think that'll come down to license holders and how much they want to differentiate from the usual, but I'll be open to that for sure.
00:26:38
Speaker
I would just not want it to look like jump force. I'm not saying that. I'm saying stick in the stick in the anime. Maybe like a cell with the cell shaded cell shaded. Yeah. But I think in terms of scale, scalability, I think. Yeah, we cool I agree. That would be that'd be very exciting. One day they're going to make a power Rangers Musso game and it's going to rock. And I why I keep hoping for it.
00:27:04
Speaker
Why haven't you sold them that idea? I know there's putties. So you have like, thousands like things that there can be like thousands of for you to go through. You can be each ranger. They all have different weapon types. It just seems like a franchise made for moves. So I don't get it. I don't know.
00:27:21
Speaker
the fucking game rights itself. Oh, I know. It's so it's, it's like two puzzle pieces just perfectly. I don't know. I hope they do it. Hey, Koei Tecmo and Omega force is you're watching. That's free. I don't even need to be paid for that. Just make it and give me a free copy. And that's it.
00:27:39
Speaker
Yeah, that's, I told that to the producer of dice yours when I was, um, doing the interview, I told them that the people wanted Lou boo bathing suit DLC. And I was like, I was like, you don't even have to pay me for that, uh, tip. Yeah. It's like, you can have that one wrong um in trunks. It has that intense face.
00:28:00
Speaker
I hope that more. I hope that people pick it up and and it's a success so that we do get the rest of the pieces of the story because there there's like half, right? It's like ah I feel like it's one third of the story. Oh, OK.
00:28:17
Speaker
um But you know what this game, you know, what got it it it really like solidifies in the whole Dynasty Warriors series that the yellow turbine army wasn't really that bad. yeah there they were the they one out Also did that same bad stuff and then also more. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, maybe we made the problem worse.
00:28:42
Speaker
Yeah. When I was fighting, what even me for the free, like I fought the mini dynasty warrior. I fought many yellow turbid army members, but this is the first time playing that I was like, I don't want to be fine. Like I, I agree with these guys. Like i that is the, great they're like, Hey, we think that the, there's too much power and corruption that we're like, yeah. And then it's like, yeah, but they're bad. It was like,
00:29:11

What? They're like, see, they're doing bad things sometimes. And I was like, well, that is bad, but everyone else also does that. So I don't see how that'll change. And then literally when you fight the leader, he's like, those people will be dealt with. Yeah, that is bad. I'm like, okay, then I can just leave because yeah I told them.
00:29:27
Speaker
Who's it was the same that John Joe John Joe. Yeah. Yeah. um that He's clearly a villain. Yeah. At the beginning, you're like, wow, what a cool friend guy. And then they're like, we need to kill him.
00:29:42
Speaker
ah Okay. um So yeah, if if you haven't ah thought about a Dynasty Warriors game, I think this is the most approachable um Dynasty Warriors game in terms of like, if you're more of an action player, I think it ticks those boxes. um But if you're a Dynasty Warriors player, there were moments in that game where I was like, holy shit,
00:30:07
Speaker
There's a dynasty warriors. Yeah. Like there's every time we're riding into an army and you have with you and it does that slightly low angle. That's great. Dude. The one on one battles. Fucking cool. Those rock. Those are really fun. They never even like, they don't really like tell you that it's coming either. Like it just happens and you're like, Oh shit. Yeah. And then you're just like, so alger do a duel and you're like,
00:30:31
Speaker
What? Okay. Yeah. Until it's like a school year fight. There's like a whole crowd. Yeah. Yeah. But the camera, like the camera sits perfectly right there for two, but to it be like, it is an action game. You know, it it borrows like these, these, these action sensibilities and, um, the pairing felt feels nice. Yes. It's very satisfying.
00:30:53
Speaker
I started off pairing a lot in the game, but by the end of the game, I learned that dodging is, is the way dodging is water guys and then dodged the big guys. Yeah. Yeah. It's easy. Yeah. I started getting much better.
00:31:11
Speaker
with a with those skills. And I need more because I don't know why I spent 35 hours developing all these skills. I need more Dynasty Warriors now. Yeah. Yeah. That's funny. That's an inversion of most games you dodge until you learn how to parry. It's it's interesting that it's an inversion. That's funny. Yeah. Yeah. That's neat. i yeah And in a Dynasty Warriors before I never dodged and I never thought to to parry.

Narrative-Driven Games Discussion

00:31:35
Speaker
Yeah. And you just pull up, plow through and maybe block if you need to. ah There's a, there's, I didn't, you know what ah about this game, the musu attacks, uh, some of them weren't as cool as I like. Yeah. so little ta A lot of just like real tank. Yeah. A lot of just slash the, the other characters, once you control them, they clearly got the
00:32:00
Speaker
better animated Musu attacks. And then you get the ultimate attack that kind of um works ah more proficient in those big battles. But yeah, I like the spectacle of Musu attacks. And I think yeah I think the other ones, because you're playing as a character and you're like, I can't wait to see this character's specific Musu attack. They spend more time on that aspect. But this one, this one, you kind of get the Musu special a lot.
00:32:29
Speaker
um and Especially if you don't let it ah the little gauge or whatever go all the way up out. Yeah. Good game. Good game. Good game. Check it out. If you like dinosaurs, if you have never played dinosaurs, it's a really good starting point. o ah What do you have for the rest of the the month? I'm going to talk about. Yeah, I'm trying to think. Wait, let me take a quick gander because I know there's a couple of things I can't discuss.

00:33:15
Speaker
They they' i posted news about it and they're like, Oh, did you send a code request? I was like, sure. Okay. Like, I don't know anything about Sanrio. Other than like bats, maroon and in koropi. So I was like, but it's like animal crossing with that. Sure. right I played it at a summer games fest on this the switch version at least. And, uh, yeah, it's a lot of fun. Yeah. It seems very charming. So I might be on that. And then, uh, I don't know. I got to pick a.
00:33:43
Speaker
Gotta pick a game to play once I'm done these review games, because after Dragon Quest was the one I was working towards, so we'll see. Maybe I'll have to look at my library, maybe Bomb Rush Cyber Funk, finally, because I've been... That'll be a fun game to stream.
00:34:00
Speaker
Yeah that would be a good game stream. My friend got me that for my birthday because I'm a big Jet Set Radio. Although, it might be a nightmare musically for DMCA. Yeah. i Because I thought about streaming Jet Set Radio and I was like, wait a minute. Those songs might get DMCA'd like that. they have They have stuff for that right now. there's you You'll be fine.

I I'm reviewing two games right now that I can't talk about. um But I want to review Citizen Sleeper 2. What's that? And that I don't know, but Citizen Sleeper was like a game that everyone talked about as being like this really good narrative driven game. And I'm kind of picky on them. So I want to see if it if it is as good as like people. would It's like that 1000 X resist factor where a handful of journalists ah talk up a specific game and and that becomes the game. And it's like, oh, there's, there's so many other, uh, narrative adventures out there that you guys aren't really paying attention to. Um, but I, I hope that it's not, it it's we'll see. Um,
00:35:11
Speaker
I'll probably pick that. I'll probably pick that one up either for review or for, uh, just to play. I'm reviewing, trying to get through Tokyo clan pool. It's on PC. It's on, I'm playing it on it, but if, man, it's, it's an old VEDA game remastered by you, Sager soft. It's fun. It's like an opportunity game, but I don't know if I'll like get around to writing or making content about it.

I'm art. I will, I will die. It's a pretty long game. Is it? Okay. That's interesting. Yeah. It's a pretty long game noted. It's like, I'll add it to the old Amazon wish list. And then when it goes on sale, I'll, uh, I'll, I'll say, Oh, it's been long enough. I have time. It's it's the old time. It's, uh,
