It's the penultimate pod. In the 2nd to last podcast of the season, we manage to cover a lot in what is likely record time for us. In this episode we talk about the bravery of Carl Nassib, a bit of player movement in the rugby universe and a few squads being named, including the New Zealand team for their series next month. We also cover a few topics we just simply haven't had time for including the Champions Cup format next season and players switching their international allegiances. Oh yeah, I guess we had some rugby to talk about. We cover leg #2 of the Championship Final, both Prem Semifinals and the Super Rugby final. All this with the banter to go with it, grab a couple and join us for the 2nd to last episode of the season.

Don't forget, we are putting together a 2nd Tier of Champi-Yanks League! You've heard us babble about it and if it sounds like fun to you, please hit us up via email or twitter.

Also, ask us questions via Twitter: Jarrod- jdyke8man & Ben- admrablsnackbar. Send us your thoughts for the show and questions for upcoming shows via e-mail fantasyrugbypodcast@gmail.com. Of course we welcome feedback via e-mail, twitter or by rating/reviewing the pod on Apple Podcast.

Introduction & Episode Focus

00:00:08
Speaker
Hey, everybody. Welcome back into the fancy. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glaser. Let's roll in. This will be more new cycle stuff than the actual rugby this time around. What a shock. Although the rugby was fantastic on the weekend. Yeah. All around every game had something interesting, even if they were, you know, the one talking will get to still interesting for at least a half. Give or take, right? Right. Let's crack into them. Hell yeah.

Free Jack's IPA Discovery

00:00:38
Speaker
Look what I found. Oh, you bastard. Where'd you get that? Blanchards. Fuck. Well.
00:00:47
Speaker
I have some, I have some free Jack's IPA that I'm drinking here. Thank you back to brewing. Thank you Blanchard for carrying it. Finally. Excellent. Yeah. No, they've had it before. I bought it there once, but it's, it's very rare. They hide it because I had, I was like, Ooh, that looks, that looks like a place that most people wouldn't look. So I'm going to grab it. Okay. Then it's all like a bottom shelf somewhere. Yeah.
00:01:11
Speaker
That should not be on a bottom shelf. I agree. I do agree with that. That's the funny thing. It's not that it's free jacks. It's that it's a good fucking beer. Yeah, it's a good beer. It's a really good beer. And it's free jacks. So it's like the combination of it. Double down, man. I'm not going to push it. And I think people who've listened to us before know that we don't push stuff
00:01:34
Speaker
as homers like we're gonna if it's if it's something that we like it's because we like it so yeah see the free jacks chance that were a complete waste of time yeah right now the traditions that nobody nobody did and you know what they kind of read the roman said you know you won't do that so that's a good idea we'll sort something out on our own yeah and we can we can manage you'll you'll live

Podcasts, Mental Health & Social Issues

00:01:59
Speaker
Um, obviously you want to find us on your favorite podcast apps, download rate, review lists, know where you found, how you found us. Um, we had some, somebody went and downloaded a few of the backlog. So Godspeed to you. God help you. Um, okay. Uh,
00:02:18
Speaker
Buy a friend Georgia beer. If you've gotten to a final, if you, if you're in position to win a league for a TRM, you owe this man a coffee, a beer, whatever it is. So go ahead and get him one of those things right there. Right. Even if it's secondarily through us, you still owe him. Yeah, I agree. I agree. I don't think there's too much argument there. Um,
00:02:40
Speaker
TRM upgrades. Obviously you're a little late at this point, but make sure that you grab them, uh, for the next season as well. Cause they restore support, restart rugby and the RPA. And, uh, if you haven't, you haven't heard us, we, uh, we were big fans of the mental health game around here. And I do think the mental fitness thing that the, um, that the MLR did was pretty good. Um, that's, that's a good, that's a good way to start their, their existence and make sure that people understand that that is a thing. So happy with that.
00:03:08
Speaker
And especially after COVID, that's important. Everybody's got coming away with something. Oh yes. You are not shitting. Black Lives Matter as always on this podcast. And there is no room for racism. And you know, we believe in not only black lives, but all the marginalized lives. And we had, we had, we had a real, this is good news. And this is something that I was really glad that happened. NFL football player has come out publicly and not somebody that necessarily, you know,
00:03:39
Speaker
makes a whole lot of, a lot of things, you know, he's pretty, he's pretty low key usually. So, um, but yeah, just, just for, for young kids to see representation in, um, the sports world is huge. So, uh, for him to come out and do it and, uh, you know, he's given money to the Trevor project, which donates to, um, you know, helping, uh, young, young kids, just, you know, suicide, suicide prevention. Yeah. Um,
00:04:10
Speaker
Right. And I remember him back from his Penn State days. So I mean, he was a guy who was, you know, I don't know too many players. So this is a guy who was kind of, you know, middle of the road, like this is the kind of guy that you want coming out and be like, you know, they had Michael Sam came out at the draft and he just wasn't good enough.
00:04:31
Speaker
unfortunately, to play it in the NFL. And he even proved that when he went to the CFL. He was all right. He was subpar there, too. So right. So that's that you can be like, okay, well, at least he had his shot. This is good, because it's a guy who's been in the league for six years now, was a third round draft pick, you know, went to a big program, all that stuff. And
00:04:53
Speaker
You know, it was proven he's he belongs in the league. So it's good. This is good. He's established pro and, you know, and guys like Warren Moon. I don't know if you saw his comments, but they were along the lines of.
00:05:07
Speaker
I played with guys who were gay, and we knew it, but it never came out. It never mattered. He's like, the culture was different. We didn't care so long as they were helping us win, and we kept it quiet and all that. We were smart about it, but we also knew the culture was different. He's like, now this is great. It's good that people can be open about it and live their lives and not live in fear while they're putting themselves out there every week.
00:05:32
Speaker
Yeah, that's, you know, I'd not hear that. That's great. Yeah. Uh, Bo Jackson came out in support of NASA as well. Who's uh, you know, so that was the best when Bo, when Bo, when Bo supports you, you listen, that's the end. Don't mess with Bo. That's all, that's all I've ever, that's all I've ever known. Don't mess with that man. Uh, so that's, yeah, Carl, great. Um, NFL matched his donation too, by the way. Good. So that's more money for a Trevor project. He did say that, that, um,
00:06:01
Speaker
The presence of one accepting and supportive adult decreases the chance of a suicide by 40%. Yeah, that's that's huge. It's a big tie right there. Oh, yeah, we need to be more supportive. I mean, we're talking suicides, right? Like, yeah, we don't need to kill themselves. No, not for that. Fuck. No, no, no, no, no. I mean, not for anything. They are like definitely not for being who you are. You know, right now for being who you are. Right.
00:06:31
Speaker
That's bullshit. Yeah, I agree. So yeah, thank you, Carl, for being for coming out and being brave, man. It's appreciated by a lot of people. And I don't think we can count the numbers on that one, actually. So that's good. Yeah, excellent. Yeah.

Kristy Kirsch & Olympic Rugby Team

00:06:43
Speaker
Second year of Champions League is open. We need a few more names. So I'll throw something out on Twitter this week. I promise I'm done coaching so I can actually, you know, pay attention to other things now. Man, that takes so much time. It's harder now, honestly, because because we're so
00:06:58
Speaker
The coaching muscles are are not what they what they were before covid. So it's it takes that. I've noticed I've been that much. I'm like, it didn't used to be this wasn't this far. It's all squeezing everything back in and sorting your your life out. But yeah, definitely some things have gone away. Yeah. Sort yourself out. Yeah. Yes.
00:07:22
Speaker
Player movement, Cuthbert on his way to Osprey's, which was something that we heard possibly on the broadcast last week that he was going to be heading towards Wales to potentially continue his Welsh career, international career as well. Because he is a high quality player. He just has been used correctly. Let's be real. I mean, look, with any luck, the Osprey's don't sign Ian Witten so that he can actually get some playing time. He's such a quality player. He got Rob Baxter.
00:07:52
Speaker
Didn't use him properly, no. Why would you? Why? He should have been in there so much more unless, you know, unless he was banged up and we didn't know about it, but I don't think so. He never played like he was banged up. No, yeah, I mean, him at 14 and not Whitten makes all the sense of the world. If you need to, and I do like some of the guys that are stuck in there, otherwise, Woodburn and I have been good, too.
00:08:15
Speaker
But yeah, Witten is always one that makes me just raise an arbor like why? Why is he in there? Why? Yeah. Please no. Please no. Marcel Braque, he is on his way out of the Western Forest after serving there for quite a while, like five years, six years. Come play for the free jacks. Yeah, yeah. Come back to the stage, Marcel. Somebody will take you, I promise. Yeah, but he's in the squad for the summer, so that's great.
00:08:38
Speaker
All Blacks have named their squad some interesting names in there. Bowden Barrett makes his return. Shocking. Yeah, big deal. Nobody's shocked by that at all. But Finley Christie in the half. That is a great name I'm looking at. I saw that and I was like, yes.
00:08:56
Speaker
I was, yeah, no, I thought he played brilliantly this year. And there's obviously no TJ Parinara right now. So certainly not one that's been playing in New Zealand for the last six months or so. So I'm really glad to see that name in there. Lomax getting the call as well. That was a name that made me kind of stand up and go, Oh, I like that one.
00:09:18
Speaker
And you know, we were naming our teams the other week and the group was one that completely I, yeah, I know. I was just like, I should have named him and found another war top. And of course, yeah, of course I didn't really need my loose head. So there you go. That's your loose head. Yeah.
00:09:36
Speaker
Oh, man. So yeah, really good stuff. Your guy, Tal, if I was in there, that's that's good. I thought he definitely made that chief scrum improve big time when he was in there. So they made it that that are forced to be reckoned with. I really, really enjoy seeing that one right there.
00:09:54
Speaker
Jordy Barrett, no, no shock there. Yeah. Who's going to take the frigging fullback Jersey right now? Good Lord. I mean, between him and Will Jordan, um, I know it's, it's pretty okay, right? Right. Those are problems to have, right? Yeah. And it's, it's pretty bad when Damien McKenzie is your, your third choice, the full back. David Havelian there.
00:10:17
Speaker
No, I think this is one of his, he's got three caps. So that's the big one. Yeah. I mean, 30 odd, isn't he? Something like that. Yeah. He's up there. So it's kind of a, I think it's a good, um, yeah, like career appreciation kind of thing. Like you've been so good for so long. Let's especially, this is for the, uh, this is just for the, um,
00:10:40
Speaker
This is just for the first set of Islanders. I don't believe this is for the TRC at all. Right. There's a lot to be had. TJ might be eligible for that for that. So that'll be interesting. Oh yeah. Bit of player movement. We forgot about looking at fly haves. Bryce Hagerty going to true. Lester. That solves part of the problem we were talking about the other day.
00:11:03
Speaker
Well, yeah, but he's he could also go. I mean, he could go back and play 15 for them too, right? Yes, he could. So that that's yeah, the big problem solved if you just use him. Yeah, quality signing. Although hopefully it's not a it's not like a reverse George Worth situation where we all wait, you go south and all of a sudden he's good. You know, and we've seen again, I will stress it. We have seen these Southern Hemisphere 15s. I mean, he's going to play 15, I assume. I guess for Lester so.
00:11:34
Speaker
Yeah, we've seen them come north and just. Yeah, so I hope you know.
00:11:41
Speaker
It's Lester, but I hope he does well for that. So it's one of those, I'm not big fan of, you ever, you know, if you've listened, you know, I'm not a huge fan of Lester. They're not sale, but I still, but I still wish him well. Yeah. Cause it's good. You know, like when, when good players play well, it's good. Same, same, same, same. Um, back to squads, U S women's Olympic squad. Now it's Christie Kirsch, local hero gets named. That's that was great. Did you, did you watch the video that the U S dropped?
00:12:11
Speaker
with the the letters yeah the letters from their family chopping up those onions man that's just i mean that's not fair it was not fair at all we're not first warning onions may be chopped
00:12:26
Speaker
Shit, but yeah, it was it was a great video. And yeah, I'm really happy to see Kristi in there. She worked. She's worked her ass off for the last, you know, three or four years. And it's because she had talent right away straight away. She came to rugby and was just like, oh, no, I get this. This is this is water I can swim in. But you don't play at this level just with that. So no, she's she's putting a lot of work and she's a fucking good player. Yes, she is. She is so.
00:12:56
Speaker
We'll obviously be cheering on Christy and her teammates. This is coming up at the Olympics here. Yeah, we got a change.
00:13:11
Speaker
United Championship, Rugby, United Rugby Championship, whatever it is. That's the new Pro 14 that's been labeled. I think it got relabeled the day we recorded on it last week. But yeah, so I mean, they are adding probably the four stronger.
00:13:28
Speaker
South African teams to be fair. Yeah, as opposed to like the cheetahs and the kings who are terrible. I'm not sure they added a whole lot other than just being bodies and easy wins and answers to South Africa in, you know, in the middle of the fucking winter over here. Right.
00:13:45
Speaker
Yeah. So that's definitely not so bad. Um, but I'm not a big fan of both the, the re the, they're going to do the same thing for champions cup this year. And they're also going to include maybe not this year, but next year, the South African teams. That doesn't sound like, are we doing a world club competition now? Just somebody tell me that's basically cause don't call it your right. I'd rather have that.
00:14:08
Speaker
Don't call it Europe and be like, oh yeah, South Africa too. It's like, when did they become European? They'll tell you that they don't want to be European. Anton, need a ruling. Yeah, somebody rule way in here.
00:14:24
Speaker
fuck's sake. So I'm yeah. And like four pool games. How the fuck do you know anything after four, four pool games? You don't, you know, you don't know shit. Right. Um, yeah. Oh, they try and make up for it with a two legs round of 16. I'm like, all right, great. That really doesn't solve the problem. You know, you, you,
00:14:43
Speaker
I don't, what I don't want is I don't want what happened between sale and scarlets. And then what happened, you know, as a consequence of that between louder shell and sale games that are just apps and shit shows. It's not good. It's not good for the comp. No. And especially a lot of those, those two, you know, two, two leg comps are going to be similar to the two leg comp we saw in the championship, you know, the top teams versus the, the lower rank, lowest ranked teams. When you get to that,
00:15:13
Speaker
you know, the knockout stage and it's like, well, what's the fucking point? Make it one leg. Cause it's going to be a shit show and move on. Cause that all that means is, you know, a team it's, it's different when it's at the championship, it's different when it's at that, you know, saris versus healing. We'll get to that. But in this case, it's going to be two teams that everybody assumes are pretty even. I mean, yeah, there's, there's obviously, you know,
00:15:39
Speaker
monsters at the top and some minnows at the bottom. But it's definitely going to be that they have earned their right to be there. And this other team is going to come in and give them like a 50 point tonking two weeks in a row. That second week is not going to be you're not going to show up to that match being a match, happy and fun. It's going to be all right. Well, we got to hit them hard and drag them down to our level so that maybe maybe we could beat them. Yeah. And that's just going to get punchy and shitty. Yeah, that's definitely get nasty.
00:16:08
Speaker
You know, yeah, especially like the close ones, the close ones are going to get real nasty. And, you know, you want intensive. You don't, you don't need freaking red cards flying all over the place either. So there's no way around it either. You're going to, it's going to be a tonking and get dirty because the players are going to get chippy or it's going to be tight and it's good. Players are going to get chippy because there's so much on the line. Talk to you. Not, not, not, not a big fan on that one. So that's not my favorite. I hope they revert to a quarterfinal and more, more pool play to figure out who's the better team, please.
00:16:38
Speaker
Please and thank you. USA versus Island in Las Vegas on October 30th. Yee-hoo! That's not going to be fun at all. I've got a bunch of rugby people who've been pent up from not having done rugby things together. Oh, man, that's going to be...
00:16:56
Speaker
Bring condoms if you're going. It's up to that degree, right? It's going to be one of those, like, the quagmire. You're going to be sitting in a bar and all of a sudden, well, whoa, let's get laid. That's what's going to happen. Pretty much. So just have one on the whole time. You never do. It's going to be nuts.
00:17:21
Speaker
Yeah, it's gonna be an absolute bench. I have a wedding that weekend to go to. So I'm not going to go. That wedding should be fun. It's a good plan B. I'll take it. I'll find a way to watch that on my phone. Right.
00:17:39
Speaker
So yeah, that should be great. Again, another, another big target for these U S players to aim for that are playing right now and, you know, to prove themselves over the next little bit here. Uh, obviously some of these guys won't be playing, uh, as much rugby by the time the 30th of October rolls around, but still you can carry over the form from MLR

USA vs. Ireland Rugby Match Preview

00:17:57
Speaker
and possibly, you know, find a loan spell to play somewhere else as well. So yeah.
00:18:02
Speaker
I think I think guys will will be just fine getting out of here. Line squad name for against Japan originally named was Hamish Watson. He's actually got a concussion, so he can't play. It's too small. Guys, guys, just going to keep sticking his nose where he where it doesn't belong. Yeah, no, he's that. Yeah, concussions happen. But yeah, I guess, you know, better now than in South Africa. Yeah. Yeah, he'll be OK by then.
00:18:31
Speaker
But not bad when you can sub in Tipperick and bring laws onto the bench. Laws onto the bench, right. OK, fine. Yeah. And two recent releases, Saracen's Boys are also on this team as well. Jinx and Vero are both on the bench. Interesting comments. And you sent them to me. And I read it a couple of times from a couple of different people. It's all the same sentiment.
00:18:54
Speaker
Owen Farrell's a well-liked guy amongst the players. It's the media and social media that absolutely badger him and make him out to be a bad guy. Yep. So I don't, you know, and obviously he... It's the Fords, they're jealous.
00:19:07
Speaker
might be Mike Ford trying to plant some seeds here. I'm half joking there. Listen, he's done it before. He's been, he's meld in the media before. It's not a new thing for him. Right. Hopefully he's not, hopefully he's not actually doing it, but I wouldn't put it past him at this point. But I know he better. The Lions players want him in leadership.
00:19:27
Speaker
Right. That speaks volumes to be in the leadership group of the Lions. One, you can't be a complete shithead. I'm talking a complete shithead and we know a few of them out there. And two, you can't be a bad player. Right. And yeah, he straddles the line between smart and dumb and dirty and safe and kind of being an asshole and
00:19:51
Speaker
being a leader for his team. He straddles that line very well. And I think he just gets shit when he crosses it.
00:19:58
Speaker
speaking as one who's given him shit for crossing. Oh, I've totally given him shit for crossing it, but he's been stupid, stupid moments. So yeah, still, you don't like, you don't get this kind of honor if you're, if you're all hammerhead. Oh, he's definitely, you don't get to be a lion. If you're all hammerhead, um, you know, it's probably true that, you know, the talent that he's got. Yeah. But no, but the, the players respond to him obviously. So he just gonna hate.
00:20:23
Speaker
Yeah, I'm glad for him. You know, he is the series 10. So I'll live and die with them as I have to. But you know, as long as Yeah, as long as there's a there's a keyboard for somebody, I think we're going to continue to see things like that happen. Unfortunately, that's just how it goes.
00:20:39
Speaker
Maybe the hate for him will be less now that the saris are the, not the most hated team in the prem. Right. At least for a year. We'll get to that until they win. Yeah. Uh, proposed rule changes, uh, going into effect for 12 months, starting August 1st. Um, the goal on dropout, I don't have a problem with it's whatever. I was, I was, I was met on it and I don't care. So if that's what you want to do on a goal on, on a, on a held up,
00:21:06
Speaker
Have fun. I'm all right with that. I'm not a fan of the 50-22. I'm glad the red card rule got left out. That was also another one. I don't recall. Now, granted, I didn't watch every match, but I don't recall a single instance of a 50-22. Not one that comes to mind. And people will say, oh, it's because they covered it well. Well, that might be true, but
00:21:30
Speaker
you know, do you really wanna, for the teams that don't actually use this properly, do you really wanna encourage more kicking? And it didn't, but it also, they may have covered it well, but that didn't, the whole idea is they will use resources out of the defensive line to cover it. And that simply just wasn't the case. Cause ideally you have your fullback there. I mean, I think we saw it actually in the final, I think we saw,
00:21:59
Speaker
I can't remember which player it was, kind of tap it, make sure it didn't go into touch. I think it would have been a 50-22, but he covered it. And then he recovered and kicked it out into touch, like a refined regular kick to touch. It affects it, but it's not a, I don't recall it being a thing. I was somewhat proponent of it only because I always kind of wanted to see what it looked like. But now seeing that it really doesn't look like anything, then get rid of it.
00:22:23
Speaker
I don't need it anymore. Seeing as it doesn't just, it just doesn't produce a whole lot of, a whole lot of what they wanted. It just doesn't make sense in that way. Right. In the end. So yeah, I'll pass on that 50. You want to do the goal and drop out fine. Yeah. The scrum takes up time and the dropout is kind of fun. It's ball in play somewhere, like in space.
00:22:47
Speaker
And in the attacking end, fine, go for it. Like, that's such a better restart, because now you're just playing rugby. You're not wasting a minute of the crouch, fine, oh, it felt, okay, collapse, let's do it again. No. I don't want to waste a couple of those. Right, exactly. You take that away, and you just make the guys play fucking rugby, and the team that's under pressure is still under pressure, right? They can't relieve themselves by, as you said, you know,
00:23:13
Speaker
you know, crashing a few scrums and wasting them to give their mates some time to recover physically and mentally. Like, just fucking play rugby boys. Let's go. And ladies. Both. Fakitoa officially makes the switch, playing for Tonga's seven teams. This is a discussion that I think is worth having and we won't dive into too much, hopefully. I see that last, previous last words. Here's the thing.
00:23:43
Speaker
I don't have a problem with making less loopholes and having to go adjust this. Where the line becomes funny, you have players that have some attitude rums, fine, I'm going to go play for this country. Well, and that's why I'm glad that the eligibility is five years, which is number one, probably the thing that will deter that. And really, if you want to switch
00:24:11
Speaker
I'm okay with the switch back and forth between any tier country you want, but it's got to have a time limit on it. It's going to be like, all right, number one, you have to, you have to make, you have to make this switch for X years, which means you don't play for the other country for X years as well. So there's got to be some sort of time limit put on it. So we don't have people. Well, I think I'm waiting back and forth.
00:24:33
Speaker
I think you should always be allowed to switch back to your home team, but that's your final switch. You can go and do your five years elsewhere or whatever you got to do to get your first cap somewhere. If you get your first cap somewhere else, fine. But if you want to, for him, I want to play for my home country, not where I had to go to get to this level and whatnot.
00:24:57
Speaker
But I want to go play for my home now that I've made my nut and done my thing elsewhere I want to play for my home country, but immediate you're back in but that's it, you're not going anywhere like you're locked, you cannot transfer from there. I think that would be good, especially for you know, that would be helpful for countries like the US so be helpful for countries like the, you know, like the island nations.
00:25:21
Speaker
So that's my take on it. If you want to have the residency restrictions and whatnot for changing moving away from home, fine, good. Keep them, make them hard and fast, Gady. But coming back home should always be allowed. That's right of return. Got to have it. Yeah. And I'm okay with that again.
00:25:44
Speaker
In Fakitoa's case, he hasn't played for New Zealand for a couple of years. Right. So more than OK with it. Again, just let's just keep, you know, some sort of separation between these knee jerk decisions that sometimes that, you know, some kid, some young kids are going to just kind of make like a bunch of idiots like, I'm going to play for this country. Let's give you like how many times do you make a decision when based on, you know, just being in full rage mode and you're like,
00:26:12
Speaker
Maybe I don't want to do that. You sleep on it for 24, 48 hours. And all of a sudden you're like, okay, you're right. I don't want to do that. Right. Exactly. Or, or you just cannot get along with the coach, right? There's a bad relationship and you just can't do it. Like sometimes you'll be like, well, fine. I'm going to go somewhere else. And all of a sudden the coach you fucking love gets the job and it's a really good match and you're fucked. Yeah. Yeah. So something to avoid knee jerk reaction like that would be good. And if it's only,
00:26:42
Speaker
two years. I don't think that's wrong. I think that's plenty of time for somebody to have a real think about it. And also, that's probably about how long guys will spend on out in the, you know, in the dark with with some of these countries too. So once you've gotten to that point where you are, you're thrown on that island.
00:27:00
Speaker
Way you go, you know? Yeah. So that's fine. Yeah, I do. I think it would help the game in so many ways. Being able to let guys like Fakitoa switch. Pyotow. Pyotow. Like that would have been amazing to see Charlie at the World Cup for Tonya. Yeah. It's been so much fun. Okay. Let's start with the easy stuff. Championship final, second leg.
00:27:22
Speaker
First half was entertaining. It was rugby wise. I mean, Jackson made a complete brain melt. That. Yeah. I mean, that kind of went through the through the first half for everybody, right? They Saris were just kind of.
00:27:40
Speaker
But like they were not, they didn't come out ready to play. Really. They came out. We're like, yeah, we'll just, it's a run in the park. As long as we don't let up 61, who cares? And yeah, I think, I think, uh, McCallum might've had something to say about that at half. They're there, they're there in front of their home crowd. Like they owe that home crowd.
00:27:59
Speaker
a match. They owe that home crowd a match. I'm sorry, healing. You were just going to be the whipping boy in this case, right? Yeah. Like they owed that home crowd. This is only what like the third match they could have at home with fans. Like, right. Yeah. They, they should, they needed to come in and rock up. And finally they woke up in the second half. Shit. They almost ate. I was like, Oh, they might've hurt 60 again. They came damn close. Yeah. Yeah. Um, got 50. So,
00:28:24
Speaker
Yeah. So, and the, uh, the, the trail finders did get somebody with actual points to their name, not just penalty tries at the very least as well.
00:28:34
Speaker
And that their prop that got reamed in the first half and they had him out white last week. They think they played him at. They switched sides of the scrum for him. Right. And he played a lot better. Yeah. So maybe he shouldn't bet as a loose head or as a tight head to begin with. Yeah. Maybe that was the problem to begin with. Right. Yeah. Because what? Cocker's was just crushing him. And
00:28:56
Speaker
Was it that way? No, all the way around, Mako was killing him. Mako was killing him. And then he actually held his own with cockers in the second leg. Vincent's a good Scramager too. Yeah.
00:29:07
Speaker
Sad way to send, um, sad way to send microbes out, but not atypical for the way he's been playing. He's definitely made a couple of knucklehead decisions last couple of years. I will say that I was like, I saw this coming to white a while ago. What are you thinking? There's two guys in front of you going, like, come in and do anything. All you're doing is throwing your shoulder. Like, what are you thinking? Wasn't his best decision. But yeah, like love what he's done for the club legend. Um,
00:29:36
Speaker
Yeah, that's I'll go there. Let's let's remember the good times. Yeah, the good times are great. Like when we wrote the inform was huge for us, you know, wrote the inform was huge for the series. So, yeah. Oh, like, yeah, we owe we owe a lot to that guy. He has no shit to this club.
00:29:53
Speaker
Right. Best wishes to you, Mikey. Go on and do your thing. Vincent gets a hundred caps. That was, or excuse me, a hundred appearances. I don't think caps should be club stuff. That's a, that's a, that's a international thing only. Let's establish that. But yeah, a hundred appearances for, for Saracen's both off the bench and starting and yeah, guys, a guy's been a great servant and God, I hope we can hang on for a little bit longer because he's the huge get for the, just for the team overall. So yeah, let's keep him.
00:30:23
Speaker
Yeah. So, premiership, grab ankles, Tiki Tiki Tonga. We coming for you. It's coming. We coming for you. Hang on to your A on to those hats, kids. This is going to be a bumpy ride. Yeah. All those. Yeah. There's a lot of, there's a lot of teams that, you know, your, your saints.
00:30:44
Speaker
Um, your, your bath, your, your Gloucester who were like, you know, maybe they had a couple of them have had a down year, but, um, you know, saints were what they were fifth overall, I think. And now it's like, Nope, you're that much further out now immediately. Um, saints, especially cause they lose a player to Cyrus. Yes, they do. Yes, they do. He was in the locker room at the, at the, on the weekend. Yep. Hang on kids. Let's go to the Southern hemisphere

Blues Triumph Over Highlanders

00:31:10
Speaker
real quick. Um, super rugby trans Tasman final.
00:31:14
Speaker
The blues finally get a trophy back in the locker. Good for them. Leon McDonald and the whole bunch. That was, yeah, that was well-earned. Well played final. It was, that was, that was a final. That was a typical final. Like that is how you expected a final to be played. And, um, really the only team that scored a try got it. It got the job done. Yeah. So that's just how it usually goes. Exactly.
00:31:42
Speaker
Yeah, and that, you know, we've we've talked about Hoskins to two, two, but does the legend grow from there even more with that that pick that not only sealed the game essentially, but then led to the Gibson try that. Right.
00:32:00
Speaker
Um, just to, to the, on that play, he like made it, I don't think he may have even made the tackle and rolled away. And then was the one who got to his feet, you know, got to, he got around, got back up to the back of this, the rock and his mates had, had, had flooded it. So all he had to do was step over. Like that's not, that's just.
00:32:21
Speaker
Kids, kids, watch that, do that. Watch, repeat. It was a well played final from the Blues. Harry Plummer came off the bench and did some pretty good heroics of his own by now on the conversions and a couple penalties as well. Terry Black just didn't have it on the night.
00:32:41
Speaker
Right. Well, I mean, he, he, he passed his HIA, but yeah, I'm not sure what you were still there after that one. So, uh, you know, uh, good on Leon McDonald seeing that and saying, you know what, we need to make a change and that that's, that's good coaching right there as well. So, uh, I, I appreciate that. And I applaud it. Um, you know, Harry Plummer was kind of, he was a big part of their, um, their Atero campaign, but then kind of got forgotten.
00:33:08
Speaker
Yeah, in favor of Fionny, but stepped in to play that that that 10 shirt and did quite well with it. So good stuff for him from him. You know, lots of credit to the hounders. They were entertaining as fuck during this competition, and I really, really love watching them. So that they take nothing away from them. No, I mean, that that the last 20 minutes of that match were hold on to your butts. This is happening. Yeah. And they and they they hung around. They stood in at Minch on 10th of a minute, which is
00:33:38
Speaker
Like I, I knew the result because I got, I got spoiled. It happens. That happens. Um, but it was one of those, like, I don't know. I don't know. Are we sure we saw that? I usually, I kind of, I kind of had a feeling that, I mean, I kind of knew the blues, blues one going in, but at the very end I was, I was watching them like,
00:33:56
Speaker
No, no, that was whatever I saw was wrong because the Highlanders are going to win this match. And yeah, no, okay. No, no brain was right. Nevermind. Nevermind. You could spoiler. Damn it. Spoilers. So yeah, good on the boys from Hoffman. Good on the boys from Hoffman. And did you see, I think it was a couple of weeks ago that was on their piece on the guy that cooks them all the meals and stuff, because most of the guys have to come from out of the city to, to train. No, I didn't cook some meals for,
00:34:23
Speaker
um for training and for i think for think after matches too so cool yeah and he's a he's a big fan he loves he loves watching him and he always comment he gives it to him straight too he tells him what they sucked so i like that that's the type of person i want i want in my club for sure so i like that that was great but yes good on the blues um first trophy since they had since i think that's the first one since they won three of the first
00:34:49
Speaker
Super rugby title. They said it was 18 years. Yeah, so it's been a bit. It's been a while. It's been a bit since such hits ended up in the locker room, so good on them. Great job for the whole crew in Auckland.
00:35:01
Speaker
Um, when I says our docket says, says final, semi-final, uh, apprenticeship, semi-finals. Oh man. We got a treat. This one at Ashton gate. Uh, Bristol 36 Quinn 43. Holy shit. Batman. What the hell did I just watch? I mean, this, this violated the law. Um, more hand score to try.
00:35:29
Speaker
And that, but that was, that was, you know, that made it 28 to nothing at that point. And I thought that was it. Right. A lot of us did. I'm watching this and thinking this isn't fair. So many reasons more hands, more hand-scored. It's over. Right. Oh man, this must be over. Right. But, but here I am getting half in the bag watching this Alex Dombrandt. Um,
00:35:57
Speaker
just willing that team back. Decided otherwise. Right. That try before half. It was one of those. Off an error. Puts them back in it. Sometimes that's all you need. Give me one score before half and we'll see what we can do. I mean, 28-0 to 28-5. That's a big difference, even though it's only five points.
00:36:19
Speaker
Still, it gives your team a little bit of belief like, okay, they're not invincible and we can do something in this match. So for the sake of that, that was huge. And yeah, and I mean, how good, and I've liked this guy since he was with the Lions in South Africa, how good was Tyrone Green?
00:36:42
Speaker
He was excellent. I mean, we got it. He scored right off the bat in, um, at halftime, shortly after halftime and just like, you know, and for him to fill that 15 shirt as well as he did as well. Like remember who he's replacing with that. Right. So it's like, and he's Mike who? Right.
00:37:08
Speaker
In one match, he's making people forget who that guy was. Yeah. And when you go toe-to-toe with Charles Piatow, now, to be fair, Piatow went off early in the second half. He did. From an illegal hit. But we'll leave that be.

Harlequins' Comeback Analysis

00:37:28
Speaker
Just the dominance in that match, even before then, no. I mean, Piatow was killing it because
00:37:37
Speaker
the Quinn's kept kicking it to him, which was stupid. Not good decisions, by the way. Green was crushing it just by finding work. And yeah, what a match he had. You know, and we, you know, mentioned obviously Dom and you got to mention Marcus Smith because
00:37:56
Speaker
Yeah, and Joe Marchant, Eddie. Yeah, I mean, look at the way they played with such a it was a southern hemisphere style as it has been, where it's just like, you know what, fuck it, we got a score. They had no choice. They were like, fuck it, take off the shackles and let's just see what happens.
00:38:14
Speaker
you know, and they worked quite good. Joe Marler, Joe fucking Marler as a prop when, what do you go? 90 odd minutes, a hundred minutes, almost a hundred minutes, 95 minutes. Like holy shit. That is a performance for a performance for a prop. Like, right. You know, as much as people want to give Joe Marler shit,
00:38:36
Speaker
If you don't tip your cap to that, then you just don't like rugby. You just don't. Yeah. In this story. Yeah. And he played well though. He was, he was dominant to the end until I took him out. Right. Yeah. He was, it's not like he was just like hanging on. He was doing work. Yeah. He was doing work. Okay. Go ahead. So let's finish our talk about.
00:39:01
Speaker
I was just, no, no, I was going to move on to something else, but yeah, go ahead. Well, okay. So as, and, and speaking of guys who we, I don't think we give. Look, we, I love the guy who was my, my, my director of rugby of the year. A lot of people's director of rugby of the year. I got, I got, I got, I got questions for Pat Lamb around Pia Tao coming out because you have a 15 already on the field who can do the things that Pia Tao can do.
00:39:31
Speaker
And then you have the guy you have to bring on for him. Owen Lloyd, obviously he's your, he's your choice. No question. You want him on the field, but Lloyd has shown difficulty in decision-making.
00:39:45
Speaker
And as a 20 year old, we'll do that. Right. And that's not it's not anything other than an experience. So I'm not I'm not knocking him. But he's not ready to play 15 in that match. He's not ready for that level of responsibility in that situation. There are a few who are. But move mail-ins like, you know, when you when you all you do is you change Lloyd for Pia Tau, that's a significant drop off. But if you move mail-ins to 15 and move and put Lloyd out on the wing,
00:40:15
Speaker
That's a slight drop off at 15. And a slight drop off at 11, because mail-ins is an excellent 15. And I'd say at wing, where there's limited responsibility, and especially with how the bears use their wing, mail-ins to Lloyd isn't that much of a drop off in that wing.
00:40:35
Speaker
do that maybe? Because I like that he wanted mail-ins to be the guy getting a lot a lot of touches after that because he was owning that match. Yeah, he was he was on fire. He was on fire. Even all the way told that that 93rd minute try, you know, he was he was still very much having an impact on that match.
00:40:53
Speaker
Yeah. So that, that's my one question for, uh, for lamb is why, why not do it that way? Cause you know, if they're going to kick to Pietal, then they're going to kick to mail-ins and I want mail-ins to touch the ball as much as possible in that match. He, uh, and he did very well with, you know, running off of Pietal or run and running with him, but Lloyd was kind of dancing around and trying to do it too much by himself at 15. He kind of got, got a little.
00:41:16
Speaker
Um, ball panic at times. Sometimes. Yep. And you know, he's, he's young. It happens. It does. It does. It does, but it was just great stuff. Young and smooth and hairless. So first of all, the, there were a couple of errors that the bears gave the Quinn's life into this. But one of them was the James Chisholm who appeared to have three, three heads and two in the back to squeeze into his shorts.
00:41:47
Speaker
Oh, man, that was a lot. And I don't know who it was that reached around. I was like, oh, no, don't do that. Don't do that. You know, that's going to end poorly. Right. Because it's Piers O'Connor just tugging his pants down. Right. And somebody else reached around just to take bind on and went for where shorts would be. And there were no shorts and just got a lot of fun.
00:42:12
Speaker
A lot of cheek back there. Oh, so much cheek. So much cheek in that. I was like, oh, this is, yeah, that's going to be a poor decision in a second here. Oh, man. Yeah. Just gutsy, gutsy ass performance from the Holler Quinn's and, you know,
00:42:32
Speaker
And maybe that's what it was. I mean, cause you had the, so more hand scores on one hand, Chisholm scores on the other. They kind of cancel each other out, right? So that's what it is there. The law lives on. It was canceled out just like the, the two tries that were called back for the same reason. Right. It all cancels out. And in the end, the better team one. Yeah. So, and then Joe Marshall, Joe Marshall, it's not very good, is he?
00:42:58
Speaker
Oh, he is excellent. He's not very good. He's amazing. Yeah. Maybe that's the word. Oh, Oh my, my, oh my. That was, yeah, that was something else from the twins. Yeah. He could play for me. I'm good with that all day, all day, all day, man. Oh, so Quinn's make their first final since I think since they lifted it. Oh, hopefully they don't be there.
00:43:23
Speaker
Yeah. Well, the next time they make the final, it will be the first final since they lifted it. Yeah. Um, so let's go over Sandy park, Exeter and sale different weeks. I'm an adult, unfortunately. And you know, it really, the difference in this match, um, was really the injuries that sale and suffered last week. Yeah. I can think of the first one off the top of my head.
00:43:49
Speaker
Because Langdon played OK. Yes. He played OK. But OK. But he completely let Noel score because he went to talk to the ref instead of getting his ass on the line to stop Noel. No. Just get your ass over there too. You have no reason to talk to him. You're not the captain. You're not anybody. Just fucking stand there in line, you dumbass. Especially because he came back to the, the ref came back to the spot.
00:44:12
Speaker
So what are you doing? What do you need to talk to him for? If you need to talk to him, kind of have a chat, you know, say something while you're running back to your position, but then just be in position. And that's that's something that Acre would have been in the right place and stop that. And then RDP played well, no doubt about it. But A.J. would have played that much. There was there were so many instances where I'm thinking
00:44:36
Speaker
if AJ, if that's AJ, then the result is 10 times better. Like, just so many instances where I'm thinking, yep, that that goes to hand or that goes to, you know, the place it needs to be or whatever. And, you know, he just has a Asia has a habit of being in the right place at the right time and putting in the right
00:44:53
Speaker
kick or pass or whatever the fuck it is. Right. You know, when called upon. So I don't have the back line to know to operate without that. Like it takes an excellent 10 to make those backs look good. I mean, you know, to a lagging notwithstanding, he's no with whatever it is, he can look good on his own. But he's a 12. Right. Yeah, just not.
00:45:22
Speaker
They just don't have the playmakers out there outside of, outside of the 12. So, yeah. And, and I mean, van Rensburg acquired himself quite well when given the spot, you know, he was basically given a couple of.
00:45:35
Speaker
gaps and decide, I will take those. Thank you. Right. And it helped that because they could go through Tulagi first and then open a spot and he could act as like a second 12 and ram through a soft underbelly. And he did well. Yeah. Not that he didn't do poorly or not that he did poorly, but.
00:45:53
Speaker
Again, having having 12s and 13s that can run like a Joe Marchant, not a you know, not a Van Rensburg at 13. It makes a big difference. Yeah. You know, and this is a this is a defense that was lauded for stopping Sam Simmons and Sam had 61 meters carried and I think he only missed one tackle.
00:46:15
Speaker
So, uh, for as much as people want to shit on him for, because he can't get it done in situations like this. He showed up, he impacted the match. Yeah, he did what he needed to. And certainly a player like him impacts the match, even if he doesn't necessarily directly impact it on the scoreboard or on the stat sheet, because you see him and you go, we got double him. Right. He, he makes plays for his team simply by existing on the pitch because you got to, you have to account for him. Right.
00:46:45
Speaker
Yeah, agreed, but exit or aren't. They're not. I mean they weren't like amazingly impressive, you know, against a team again that had all those.
00:47:00
Speaker
like it's the team that had those injuries at key positions. Um, and yes, Exeter had their, their, their band players, but fuck you got banned for friend. You deserved it. So you earned an injury is different from a suspension. Um, especially when you're suspended for injuring the guy who's not playing. Well, I guess that, that wasn't the case so much in this one. Um, no nailed though. Anyway. Yeah.
00:47:28
Speaker
Either way. Um, although Exeter did get a little taste of their own medicine there with, uh, capstick having to go off immediately. And yeah, really unfortunate for the kid. Yeah, that was, that was unfortunate for him. Um, I was looking forward to Washington, Washington to see what he could do. Right. I'm glad to, I'm going to go a little bit of a run.
00:47:46
Speaker
And he got the good amount of a run too. Yeah. So play well needs it. The man needs it. So yeah, we will have Exeter and Quinn's at Twickenham. Be very, very interested to see how this one plays out.
00:48:03
Speaker
uh yeah words that don't often ever escape my mouth i'm developing it like a non-aggression pact with with quinns yeah yeah listen i don't hate you but i fucking hate them right
00:48:20
Speaker
Cause I really don't have any hatred for Quinn's and I, you know what though, I, it is, I wouldn't mind seeing that, that penalty tri-match. Um, I like the way that I hope it ends. I would be perfectly fine if it ended that way again. Yep. Yep. Um, it won't though, cause it'll be a championship, but yeah, the, I will say, um,
00:48:47
Speaker
So hopefully this is kind of a wake up call to them. Eventually, um, the prem took down a tweet that had the Exeter chant in it, which I was like, all right, maybe you're now finally trying to understand that that's not okay. Well, they got ratioed to Helen back. Yeah. And that didn't help. People are like, fuck you. And they're like, Oh, Oh, okay. Maybe, maybe it does. I hope it does. Like you said,
00:49:12
Speaker
Yeah. We'll see. Be nice to the fucking. Yeah. But whatever, when every rugby account is like, fuck this tweet in particular. Yeah. Yeah. That kind of needs to be a red flag. Like, nope. No, that's not, that's not okay. Yeah. Okay.
00:49:29
Speaker
Okay. Um, whip around real quick in the MLR. There was no free Jax game this week. They're on by. Um, good news is it looks like it was a breast week. Kenny Hataki. Yama. Oh, we could probably see him on the bench with the auger still starting, which I won't be sad about. Does this mean that we won't see Kyle?
00:49:49
Speaker
So I hope so. You know, that was it was a does this mean we don't get to see Kyle? Sorry. Yeah, I know. I'm good. Yeah, I'm done. I'll pass on him. Yeah. And he played all right in his emergency role, but.
00:50:04
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Let's get some real professionals. I'll go with them. Thanks. Yeah. What the, they went, um, Utah beat New York, given a lifeline to potentially to the free Jax, which would be nice. Um, Nola did beat Toronto. So it was all the trials, but to just kind of, it's a top season for Toronto. They're fucking playing away from home. Like, man,
00:50:31
Speaker
And they did perform well many times in matches, but yeah, I think it's starting to catch up on them, unfortunately. Atlanta beat Houston, no big surprise there. San Diego just barely lost to LA. Rob Shaw came out, and I guess Billie Meeks had to play flanker in this match.
00:50:49
Speaker
Couple notes from that one. So that was an emergency role for sure. Seattle and Austin, Austin take them out. So that keeps Austin alive in the Western Conference. Although I think Utah is probably the first one in line there for that second Western Conference spot. We'll see.
00:51:08
Speaker
And then this weekend, the free jacks welcome the gold to town and I want a piece of these fucking guys. That stupid field. Yeah, fucking field. I want a piece of these guys. I want to see them play on a good pitch and see what happens with these guys, especially where we've had a week off and a week to rest. You know, I yeah, let's let's bring it on New Orleans. We want we want a PC. Let's go.
00:51:31
Speaker
So let's have that. Because if the free jacks can win out, we might have a shot at the playoff. Right. So let's keep that hope alive. Shall we? Okay. Um, TRM rankings. We did them last week and it was a, I think it was a good thing. So with
00:51:51
Speaker
Sale and Bristol eliminated. By the way, with Bristol eliminated, it also means that there's two more guys returned to the Saracens. Right. Oh, yeah. Did you like what you saw from Ben Earl and Max Maylands out there? Oh, at the first half, I was like, Saracens 15. Right. Quins nothing. I was like, yeah, this looks like fun. I mean, shit. It was 20. They scored 20 points on their own. Right. You know, between Maxis Hatrick and Brenner, I'll get one.
00:52:20
Speaker
Right. If his first one right off the bat. Yeah. Right. So with those teams be eliminated, do you just simply pull those names out and slide everybody else up or is there some jumping on the line? There's some jumping in the line a little bit here and there because, yeah, because right now I'm putting I think I'm going to go Baldwin over Cowan Nicky as my hooker. OK. Because Baldwin. So, yeah, because a little bit of that was match up last week.
00:52:49
Speaker
Exeter are shit against front rows. Yes, they are. The props and hookers. Especially props, but yeah, hookers too. And the big thing in this, when you get to this type of match, and one of the reasons why, you know, I'm ranking Marlar and Lo above every other, above the Exeter props, is that they're going to both play 60 minutes. Like, then you get that 60 point bonus. Cow and Dickey probably is going to play 50.
00:53:14
Speaker
With the handle on the bench, why not, you know, bring on fresh legs earlier. Cause you can trust him. He's just as, he's not just as good, but he's not that much of a drop-off. No, not really. Um, a hundred percent. The handle is better than a, you know, 80% of that point, Cowan Dickey. So switch it. Um,

And yeah, and at this point, locks are because also, you know, you're loose forwards and lock positions and whatnot.

TRM Fantasy Rugby Player Rankings

00:53:42
Speaker
Like, you know, Simmons and Dom brand are going to go off.
00:53:48
Speaker
But I'm assuming Kenningham is not playing, but if he's out there, you have to fucking play. Yeah, I mean, I was surprised he's passed his H.I.A. I was like, how the fuck did you pass your H.I.A.? Right. Well, because no, he got passed his H.I.A. because he didn't get it was a neck thing. It wasn't his head. Oh, he just got he got twisted a little wrong. And then but yeah, so he's he's one to watch out for. But like,
00:54:13
Speaker
Gray and Hill and Luis are yes. Those are your like be running on them. Yeah, I love Luis. I really do. I think he's been great. Because your locks, these are running locks and they get more points for their carries and they'll make their tackles same as the flankers in this kind of match. There's going to be enough picking and going on the on the Exeter side and then on the
00:54:37
Speaker
Um, holocaust side, they're going to be running and lilies is dangerous and loose. Um, and, and exit are not. Terribly tidy on defense these days. So yeah, there's a, there's a lot of options there. Um, I mean, 32 RDP sales. So yeah. And at this point you look at, look at, um, the guys like Ali Devoto and, uh, Slade, who I think are both fly half eligible.
00:55:02
Speaker
Yes. Both are fly half eligible as, as, as a backup nine. So like, guy like monitor shouldn't even be on your roster. He's on mine because he might make some, he might make me some, some cash money between now and then, but he's not going to be on.
00:55:16
Speaker
by game day. Yeah, that's who I want as my fly half backup. One of the other people that's fly half eligible, not there. Nope, nope, nope, nope. Hogg is, I think he's a must have in your lineup this week, even though I think he was low in my, oh, he's got to start this week. And especially the matchup is so tasty for him because he could do what Pyotow did.
00:55:39
Speaker
Um, but yeah, I guess there is that question then if, you know, if they'll play, I hope, I would hope he'd start. I think that I thought he didn't because of how they wanted to attack. I thought it was a tactical decision last time to have him on reserve. Um, but I could be wrong.
00:55:57
Speaker
But yeah, you know, there's certain guys who, you know, are going to play well, like, you know, green Marchant. Yeah. They're in line on the bench. Simmons at 15 is an excellent, you know, you can have both kick both tens on the field too, which you should. Both should score extremely well. Yeah. I'm assuming Marcus Smith gets loose. Right. He'll score just fine.
00:56:24
Speaker
This might be one of those where you might even take Smith as your captain and give Simmons the K anyway, because I think he's going to do more kicking for posts. Whereas Smith will do more kicking for conversions. Just my thought. I gambled on that this past week and won. I mean, it's a point here or there, but still. Sometimes it makes a difference. Exactly. Sometimes it makes a difference. Leaderboard.
00:56:55
Speaker
You are still topping the group. Justin has played some pretty good catch-up here. He's now in fifth. He's not in a super-duper danger of catching me, but Antoine's in danger of getting flipped here by Duncan. He is. Duncan's right behind him, and I don't want to say I'm safe, because it's 130 points.
00:57:17
Speaker
But given that it's one week and where our lineups are going to be essentially the fucking same. Yeah, true. Feeling feeling pretty OK up here at the top with that kind of cushion. But Anton and Duncan being only 60 points apart that.
00:57:32
Speaker
That is very, very intriguing. And I'm probably, I'm probably well set into the fourth year. I had a chance to catch Duncan in the last, not last week, but the two weeks before I totally fucking blew it. I totally fucking blew it. Well, and Duncan has just been on a tear. Yeah. He scored well.
00:57:51
Speaker
600 points this past week, just just he has overall. Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, pretty good. I mean, not that the United States has anything to really have a whole lot about there's only 39 participating members here and a couple of them have definitely fallen off the wayside here. Yeah. But you're to I'm for somewhere in the middle here at five points away from one.
00:58:18
Speaker
Yeah. So for whatever that's worth, this guy is apparently the reigning champ in the United States on that leaderboard. So maybe you knock his ass out.
00:58:29
Speaker
We can now I'm reading for me too. Yeah. Duncan's last week ranked 28th in the whole week and the whole thing. So that's pretty good. That's a pretty, pretty kick ass with, with just 14 gallon. Right. That's, that's smart decision-making. He figured it out as we say.
00:58:49
Speaker
Well, I think he had both Green and Malins in his lineup, and I don't think many other people did. Yeah, it was a tough decision because a lot of people probably wanted to play. And my tinker-stinker was to drop Green for lineup on my bench. I was like, you know what? I'm going to have this hunch. I'm going to do that. Well, that didn't work. About that. Yeah.
00:59:17
Speaker
Oops a daisy, but honestly either way I think Anton's gonna be the one that takes home the inaugural trophy So good on him, but we'll see how this weekend plays out assuming that he doesn't have a total brain fart and go all the way down Yes, send a legal lineup on time no, right. Yeah, that's Justin about that one Justin's rebranded well from doing that so he really has Give him loads of credit. Huh? All right the final Pick him of the year
00:59:46
Speaker
Here's the bad news for you. I can't catch me. No, I had to try. You had to try, but you should pick Quinn's. I should have picked Quinn's. Nobody was picking. Not many were picking on us with that way now. Um, so since I can have a little wee bit of fun with this one, I'm picking Quinn's. I'm picking Quinn's. I'm not taking fucking eggs. Fuck that. Fuck them all.
01:00:11
Speaker
Fuck them all. You know, it was pretty sad and we didn't talk about this and we got just a little bit of time. It was pretty sad that fucking it looked like Dave fucking Ewers was going to get a call from Eddie if it wasn't for the suspension.
01:00:27
Speaker
Seriously, he was going to call and please tell me Alex Donbrandt was going to be on that list at least two, because if not, then there's really something fucking wrong. That's a lot wrong. There is no need for you words to be like they talked about that in one of the broadcasts. And it's like, what does yours do that other people don't like you?
01:00:47
Speaker
You can get 10 people to do what Dave Ewers does. Easy. And for whatever you want him to do there, the 10 people is probably low. You could probably get 50 people from the prem who can do what Dave Ewers can do.
01:01:02
Speaker
especially because he's got to be a lock at the, at the international level. He can't be a, that is not a flanker at an international level. No fucking way. No, you have Josh McAllan. You know what? Josh McNally can do more as a lock. I love Josh McAllan. You can do as a six. I really do. So fuck off. Yeah. No way. Pass. Hard pass. I mean, shit. Who is the, who is the, and who was the lock for, um,
01:01:26
Speaker
Where was it? Hold on. For the bears. Yeah, Atwood. Atwood kicked ass. He's enjoying life in Bristol, I know that. Yeah. So, I mean, he's 34, so that's why, but still. But still, you can get a body to do what yours can do. So, what the fuck?
01:01:53
Speaker
Yep. I agree. Give me, give me something like that. Yeah. Yeah. So many other players. A lot more on that one than the viewers pass hard pass. If you need Dave viewers, you are fucking up. It's all I know. All right. Second, second, last part of the season.
01:02:15
Speaker
We're almost there. We're almost there. And the next one shouldn't be nearly this long. Nope. Assuming that something doesn't go and turn something on its head. Right. Nice little mini pod to end our season on.
01:02:29
Speaker
Yeah, it'll be good. Yeah, we'll probably try and do something for Lions like when the Lions series is actually happening, and we're not just talking about the Lions series happening. But we'll try and also like there'll be plenty of international rugby to fucking digest at that point as well. Sure. So we'll try something for that. But that'll be a special that will not be
01:02:51
Speaker
We ain't doing that. We're not doing it for every fucking lines match because we're going to be fucking here until the cows come home, man. I need a break. I need a vacation. That's what I need. I need a fucking vacation. Nothing. I don't enjoy doing this, but everything else. I need a vacation. It's all I know.
01:03:08
Speaker
Oh, fuck. I'm sure everybody else has the same sentiment. You need a vacation from us? Probably a little bit, honestly. Let's be real. I mean, we have, what, like two weeks off and then we came in again? Like, shit. That's not enough time to fucking get us out of your ear. Let's be real. No, it's not. Can't confirm. Oh, fuck. But.
01:03:29
Speaker
