Well, everybody had that conversation and nobody stripped their title. So not going to happen.
Speaker: You know, and of all the things that are going on in this league, is that really the worst thing that's going on right now? Yeah. I mean, the biggest scandal in potentially prem history is they were too serious about player welfare. So, I mean, I guess I know there's financials and there's that, but that's kind of the point is that they're not treating the players like pieces of meat that they just use up and spit out like so many other sports do. So,
Speaker: Yeah, they were punished appropriately and Ray was taking, and he stood up and took his lumps. As a responsible adult, he stood up and said, yeah, I did it. I tried to fix it and didn't quite fix it right the first time and then really took his lumps for it. Yeah. Of all the scandals that we've seen in sport,
Speaker: I think in the end, this will be remembered fondly by, by a lot of people. It's one of those, you might be, even if you're angry about it now, you'll look back in like 20, 30 years and be like, you know what? Yeah, he did the right thing. He was trying, he was trying to do the right thing. So I'm not that, yeah, it's, it there's a lot of bitterness, I guess, you know, by, by some clubs that are jealous that they don't win, but that's not, yeah, they still played the, you know, the players went out there and played and, and, you know,
Speaker: Yeah, there was nothing on field. There's no on field shit going on. You know, that was the thing like, yes, it was off field stuff. And yeah, we talked about.
Speaker: Every, you know, the game checks that were going to these players were all legal. They were completely there. That's exactly what it was. They were within the boundaries. It was just the extracurriculars that were not cleared by Ray and company. And they got punished for it. And that's just how it goes. But like, of all the things that are going on in this, you know, and they put, listen, let's be real. They put another team on them. He put another team on the map for Prem. You know, before it was WOS, it was Tigers. It was, um,
Speaker: a little bit of bath, you know, saints, those were the clubs, those were the clubs. And he put another one in the pot and said, here you go, have fun. And, you know, a lot of people kind of pooped themselves a lot when it happened.
Speaker: And if you look at it, a lot of those clubs have since and by I mean since and I mean in the last couple of years, including this year for one of them for like the Lester side, they have since worked up their game because they got complacent for too long. And now they're suddenly like, oh, no, this is how we have to play. And it's not quite the same game that, you know, it's not the not not the mid 90s anymore.
Speaker: It's certainly not the mid, mid, mid aughts, you know, we're 15 or so years past that, you know, this is the way rugby is played now. And, you know, as the Harlequins can attest to, you got to play some, you know, attacking rugby, you can't just, you know, bottle it up, as we'll get to in a little bit. But yeah, I thought, you know, that was kind of part of what what Ray has brought is that kind of defense where you have to do, you know, you can't just

Like for all the things we talk about with, you know, especially even fantasy wise, with, you know, some of the greatness of those players as fantasy players,

So, Ray, you know, Nigel did a great job. And then I hope in the long run, he's remembered more for the good that he did rather than the mistake he made by taking two good care of his players.

Yeah, especially as a game in the end, especially as a guy that was latching on to the Saracens for, you know, all my own reasons, most of which were concerning Chris Wiles and a little bit. I think there's gotta be at least one or two good candidates that they could have put in front and said, yep, this woman is the head coach of this women's team. That would make sense, but I guess we can't. I don't know what the pay they're looking at and what the,
Speaker: You know, all that, it might not be, and I hate, I'm not trying to sound like, oh, maybe they just don't want to coach. No, maybe they can't really, maybe they need to be doing other things that maybe are more lucrative for themselves than coaching at the moment. I'm sure a few of them would snap your hand off at one of these opportunities at the same time. Sure, absolutely. Yeah, there's got to be someone, but then they qualify. So it's like, I hope that if I'm in charge of this, if I was king of the world and this is what was happening, I would say. King of the world!
Speaker: This is allowed, but as a part of it, each team has to have a coaching intern, sorry, a coaching development.
Speaker: It doesn't have an internship, but an actual paid position. Paid would be nice. Paid where you're developing, you're going to coach. You will be the next coach. But for now, we need this person who is extremely experienced. There's so much more to coaching than just teaching rugby.
Speaker: So there's, you know, it helps to be able to see that. That's why, you know, a lot of NFL head coaches are assistant coaches first, things like that. You know, you have to actually learn what it means to be that head coach. So I'm hoping that that's what they're doing. Yeah. I hope that as well. So it'll be great. It'll be great for the women's game down there. And, you know, I'm sure some of these other national teams are very jealous about what they're doing.
Speaker: the way and those, and I will say this, those, those teams, those super elite teams, the players on the men's side, they're, they're so into the supporting those teams as well. Like, I think we saw it last year with the blues. Their men's team was just all about that. That was Smith. Oh, Eric Smith's huge into it. Yeah. Yeah. He loved somebody said something and he was like, excuse me.
Speaker: He will be the biggest. He is definitely like the big. He's going to be the biggest South Island fan for that team. No doubt. No doubt in my mind. So, yeah, I love love nugs. Speaker: And they're playing really well and they're developing. Alicia Washington has come so far, so far in her career from being yelled at by Phaedra Knight for kind of shirking her rocking responsibilities. Because she was always known that she was an attacker, like when I coached against her when she played at Hartford, Hartford of all places, the women.
Speaker: Right. And she was I mean, you could see she was amazing. She was an eight and she just she was their player when she got the balls. I got well, fuck that she's gone. But she didn't do she didn't do any work on defense and she didn't do any support work. It was all like I get the ball and I run. But that's all she needed to do. That was her role. And she brought that to the Eagles and they were like, Phaedra Knight, as I said, set her right. Yeah. And that was a couple of that was only a couple of years ago. And now she's deservedly starting to start her for with Worcester and
Speaker: Same thing with all these other women that are there, like Kate Zachary. They're not only earning that opportunity, but they're showing that they can be among the best. Fucking love it. I'm as excited as you are about this and only good things happen. Looking good for it.

Speaker: It's so much better than that hypothetical tour that happened earlier. Something that happened in July. I was supposed to, but I don't fucking remember anything. I've forgotten whatever it was. And Elton Yancey, take a bow. He is not my favorite player, but he played extremely well coming in. I was like, oh, there. I saw him on the bench and I thought, oh, they're so fucked.

Speaker: a couple of South Africans that were on that team, but didn't see a lot. The Dupree brothers, Dan and JL. Dan got in against the Pumas for like 10 and 20 minutes each, I think. And JL never saw the field. So, you know... Sales can have some pissed off seconds. Oh, he's going to be mad. Yeah, no doubt. You know, he'll be back for a little bit and then he'll probably go back to playing with the team when they get back to when they get to the Northern Hemisphere. So...
Speaker: Or maybe not at all. You might never get released. Never know. That's true. So we'll see. But anyway, South Africa at least show a little bit a little bit of something and beat New Zealand. Teams got the best record against New Zealand. So it says something. It does. It does. Another international match of different variety. Eagles rugby world qualifier this past weekend against Uruguay out in Colorado. Started well.
Speaker: and then got worse. I mean, the Dolan try was absolutely amazing. Oh, fan -fucking -tastic. I wanted more. I wanted more of that. Yeah. I wanted more of that. Unfortunately, we didn't get it. Here's my problem. So this game was played in Colorado at altitude, very high, very difficult for visiting teams, very hard for home teams, you know, any leader.
Speaker: And the Eagles fell off. They scored 19 points in the first half and then none the second half. And they gave up what, three points in the first half and then 13 in the second half. Why is your opponent
Speaker: getting stronger and at altitude than you. And why are you falling off? Like that's what the, I mean, we saw what they saw against Canada that, that they can, you know, kind of have a poop game in the first match and maybe it'll get better. But that was different because it was a way. And then home, this was home. And now you're going to Uruguay with a three point or two point cushion, three, three.

And so that's why it, you know, when I walked away from that match and you can attest to this, I was probably frustrating the fuck out of you as long as along with everyone else. I'm like, yeah, I can't really be that mad. Like Sarri's, they didn't score a try and you let the other team kind of stick around because again, they played it like a test match. Yeah. They wanted it close. And then you made, you gave the, you put yourself in a position to make, let the referee make a bad call. Although I, you know,
Speaker: Yeah, we'll get to that. But I just didn't, you know, I was fine. I was like, you know what? It's a loss. Big fucking deal. It was. We're going to lose matches. It was in a way. What do you like? In a way, it went well for an away loss at welfare drugway. You picked up a bonus point. Right. Your team's still not, you know, this is this is only the second match back on the prem. They gave themselves a chance, really, is what it came down to. And, you know, it's not great rugby, but at the same time, while they're still trying to get the feeling of them back into the prom.

If Alan Davies had not done anything, he still would have gone into touch because he had been dragged in. So it didn't affect the outcome of that particular play. It really wasn't that
Speaker: that big a deal that, that he, he, he impacted him and dove into him. It wasn't like he fucking speared him in the head or anything like that. Yeah. There are so many people that would have the situation that he had in front of him and completely botch it and not do a fucking thing about it. So to his credit, he saw it and he did not miss. He went for the jugular and made sure that sale paid. And I didn't feel like he was getting much help from his 10. So the fact that he was doing it as a 13 and guiding the team, taking the kicks, all that stuff.
