Introduction and Banter

00:00:02
Speaker
It is... The Fantasy Europeans. My name is Jared Dyke. I wanted to say it's stupid and let's move on, but then you kept going. I'm Ben Glauser. I don't like any way anybody gambled that. Collusion! Collusion!
00:00:27
Speaker
Hey everybody. Welcome back.

Bristol Rugby Match Experience

00:00:28
Speaker
It is the fancy rugby. Thanks. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glauser. It's fancy corner time. Let's do this thing. Um, how are we going to do Friday? I just thought of that. We're going to go watch Bristol. We're going to go to that, but like, Oh, we can't even do, we can't even really do like ask tea fry. Can we?
00:00:46
Speaker
No, oh, for that, not really. Yeah. Everybody's going to be kind of SOL. Sorry. We're going to be going to be SOL. I mean, maybe if we had, again, if our phones decide to work, I don't think we're going to get, I don't think we can get a sheet out. No, definitely not that. I'm bringing, I mean, I'm bringing my, I'll have my laptop, but I don't want to do that. Yeah, exactly. Like I don't, I don't want to do that. I like you all. But I mean, we do have time on the tube, so maybe we'll see. Yeah, right.

Champions League Recap

00:01:16
Speaker
Oh, man. All right. Let's crack in one of these two. I'm on my second of the top bottom of the half of the bottom half of the top. I feel like I'm doing pretty OK as it is. So let's check out. Excuse me, the Champions League division start with Division one. And Division one this past weekend,
00:01:44
Speaker
Duncan was able to beat me. I had a lineup blender. I feel really stupid, but oh, well, well done Duncan. I know how that came. Cobus beat

Fantasy Rugby League Updates

00:01:54
Speaker
Justin rather handily at that. Cobus put up one of the highest points of the week. Second highest, I believe. Yep. And didn't even need all of it. Ouch. Squeaker for you between you and Mark, but Mark just edged it out by three and
00:02:10
Speaker
like 3.3 yeah 3.3 damn yeah oh man not happy but of course i'm also like i was the out of a seventh highest scoring like this was the battle of sixth versus seventh scoring in the league only justin scored fewer everybody else you know and i had 115 115 is a fucking decent week in this right
00:02:32
Speaker
But like 177, one to 182, 140. Fuck, fuck you guys. Fuck all you guys. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Re-Sam, I killed you. Yeah. That was your, that was your bogey right there. It was negative 0.3. And that's like, he's one of the only people who didn't score on Colossus. It's like the Belichick, like, we're going to shut down your best player. Okay. Well, everybody else beat you. All right. But you still want. So, okay. Good. Good job. All right. Fine. Fine.
00:03:00
Speaker
fine. And then in definitely the biggest clash of the weekend. And also, oh, no, actually, what what really killed me was Umaga taking the kicks for Oh, yeah. Yeah. That hurt a lot. Yeah. Yep. And Carrick beat George in a big battle 182 to 166. Damn. That's awesome. Does that leave Carrick on top?
00:03:23
Speaker
He's underfeasement. Did I make that up in my brain? No, I think you're right. I thought, hold on. Yeah, he's 3 and 0. Damn. And Mark is 3 and 0.

Division Two Highlights

00:03:35
Speaker
Oh, man. And I am sitting on a donut. I got one, and I'm not terribly happy about it. Yeah, I'm on it. I feel relieved. I'm on it right now. This sucks. Damn it. Oof.
00:03:47
Speaker
Yeah, but at least at least you won in the other league because you played some douchebag who can't play. Yeah, some book, some of the updates from Division two. Thank you for sending those along again. She's great. She's been a quality addition to the. Yes, she has been the champion.
00:04:07
Speaker
Yes. So I believe this, I believe it's Stewart and he and he beat, um, he beat John, John, John, John was sort of the pretty good score pair for 154, 138. Both would have beat me. Yeah. Luke and Luke and Alex, uh, Luke came on top. That's how, that's how she goes sometimes once. Yeah. Luke had a good score. 173. That's a good one. Yeah. Um, Sophia got her, got herself over the line. She's, she beat, uh, Franco.
00:04:38
Speaker
Damn. That's huge. Franco is actually, if you look at, maybe it's Fox scoring, but he was tweeted out by FRD as one of the top owners. No slouch, Franco, so good work. Yeah, so that brings him down to two and one, and then Terry battered Larry to 11. To 11, Terry put up.
00:05:08
Speaker
Well done, Terry.
00:05:13
Speaker
That is just an absolute shnotting thing right there. Big time. That's like, yeah, it's two weeks worth of points. Yeah. Terry's undefeated. Shocker of the day. Wow. Yeah. With that score, of course he is. There are two people on ducks like me, so I don't feel so bad. I think it's Alex and John. Alex didn't draft this team, so... No, he gets a pass. He does. He gets a pass. Totally.
00:05:41
Speaker
I agree. Cool. All right. Well, nice to see people are getting along and fighting in there. Hope everybody's having fun with their banter. If you guys aren't bantering, then I'm disappointed in you all. Yeah. Up the dance.

Upcoming Rugby Matches Analysis

00:05:54
Speaker
You are a great disappointment to me.
00:06:01
Speaker
I guess we're doing starts it. All right, then we're doing five matches, though. Yeah. I guess I'm no, I don't know which of us I figured because, yeah, three versus Bristol. Yeah, Newcastle hosting Bristol. Oh, that's right. We want to go see that match out of the pub. It was closer. I'd say let's go if it was at the gate. I'd say let's go there. Of course. Yes, I know. I know Newcastle is just a little too far for us to try and make it at night. Yeah, unfortunately, it's just how it is.
00:06:29
Speaker
But for Newcastle, you got to start their front row because George McWiggin still like he scored their only try this past weekend. So he's probably going to score their only try again if they score any or any tries they score. Josh Barton, if he's the nine, I think is still a. Yeah, I like him right now. Connan is a desperation play at best. Radverland is a go, and I still want to see Carreras play more. I know he didn't score this past week, but that'll happen even he did OK. I think he had like five or 10.
00:06:58
Speaker
Did he get 10? I don't think he got 10. That's why. Let me double check this. Hold on. I just looked at it before. I thought he fell a little short of 10. Or maybe it was like just 10. 10 on the nose and 10 and a half for Radwin. So not bad. So not bad. OK, 10 is 10. It's from a team. Right. You want more, but you'll take that. That's certainly better than negative 3 from recent. Negative 0.3, whatever it was. Yeah, that's what it was. On the other side,

Fantasy Rugby Picks Preview

00:07:22
Speaker
The front row, of course, they had what, three front row tries this past week, plus a whole lot of other good shit because it was. Who is it, Laheaf? Sinclair, not Sinclair, Gensh and Capon scored. So from each of the three positions, they got tries. Bradbury is the only other forward I would recommend the nine and ten, whoever they are. Yep. Peers should still rock up.
00:07:50
Speaker
Radra I'm thinking is back next week or maybe comes from the bench this week. I know it was, it was like they said the first week in October and that's kind of there. So yeah, that might just be him. We're close. Rejoining, rejoining training now. So yeah, we're close. And then it sounds weird, but more ahead. I mean, of course they're playing new casts. So yeah, that being maybe the more thing.
00:08:08
Speaker
And again, they're playing Newcastle, but Vui at this point is a I got to see it because it's been too long. He was inconsistent last year. And so far this year, he's been consistently not where I want him to be. So I did drop him this week, but it's not fair because I picked up. So that's well, that's a good trade off. Yeah, I would put it this way. I was looking to find a different lock and there's Chris there and I'm like, yep, OK, that's the decision. But I was getting rid of them either way. I would I would almost recommend it at this point.
00:08:39
Speaker
There's better locks out there. London Irish and Bath. So for the London Irish, the Exiles, Tom Pearson has done much better this past weekend, obviously. Sevens actually do all right against Bath as well. So that's a thumbs up for me right now, assuming he avoids a card. That's his only problem. If he gets a card, it's a problem.
00:09:06
Speaker
And then Will Joseph, JJ's younger brother and who he'll likely see across the field from him scored well when he's played. And there's always one wing that bath have hard time containing and there might be two in this game. So just definitely, but I do like the way he plays when he starts. So give him a thumbs up if he's starting and he's a midfielder by designation. So that's huge. That is huge.
00:09:29
Speaker
I liked the way Bennett played last week, but that has actually defended the 12 quite well. That being his usual shirt, that's a problem. So if he is in fact back at 12, you'll still probably play him, but I don't know if you're gonna, he's gonna be low in my rankings.
00:09:47
Speaker
Probably. But he entered, to me, I wouldn't worry so much about the 12 designation because he inserts himself, Giggity, pretty much anywhere. So, like, he might, like, we saw him, what? I think against Saris, he scored on the wing a couple of times. And it's like, he will get himself in the loose. It's not like he just stays, you know, right off the 10th shoulder like most 12s do. So, that's my only caveat with Ben Hardin.
00:10:13
Speaker
Yeah, but they've, and I'm not saying that they've played anybody otherworldly, but they did pretty well playing against Odendall this past weekend, who we know has got some serious potential to be a pain in the ass. He's got a problem. So, to their credit, there is that. For the bathmen, I talked about him before, and in the rugby pod, Wilmer.
00:10:36
Speaker
This is going to be, this is going to be a great season for those that have him. I think he's going to return to form. He does the little things that can give you, um, does the little things that can give you points as a floor. And then when it gets games like last week, it's.
00:10:54
Speaker
gravy and it's all so, so very delicious. So give him a thumbs up right now. He's a novel start. Orlando Bailey looks like he's back into form and now that he's the pure France experiment has gone for Ben Grant. Maybe he'll, he'll play more. And obviously when he plays, he's good. So give him a thumbs up.
00:11:12
Speaker
On the other side of the coin, Louis Schruder, not the nine you're looking for. This is not the halfback you're looking for. He just doesn't score well when he plays, plain and simple. Like, yes, a once in a while game, but really, that's not what you're playing. That's not what you're picking for. You're picking players that score, you know, some sort of floor that is serviceable and, you know, higher up, obviously. And
00:11:38
Speaker
His floor is like in the negatives and his higher up is like 10. That's not awesome. So pass, hard pass for that one.
00:11:48
Speaker
So also, where's Redpath lately? Is he hurt now? He was hurt, but I think that might have been a day-to-day, week-to-week thing. OK. For those of us who may have picked him up in fantasy this week. Yeah, no, that might work out this week. Because we had to drop people like Tresolventor and whatnot. So that's the scramble. It's interesting to see. It's actually quite fascinating to see all the Worcester players who are just sitting there on the waiver wire waiting for the call up. Yes.
00:12:18
Speaker
And it's going to be harder to snatch players off the waiver wire with one less team available. Okay, over to sale versus Exeter. Oh, the matchup. Why aren't we going to this match, Jared? Why are we not going to this one? Because nobody wants to go to Zephyrd. That's why. Yeah, I don't want to watch it anyway. It's going to be open.
00:12:43
Speaker
Yeah, the sales front row actually went like severely negative this past week. I wouldn't worry so much about that or whatever was a couple of weeks ago. It was bad. I wouldn't worry so much about that against exit or exit or do they let the opposition make a lot of tackles. So the front row will make tackles. They won't make them work hard for those tackles. So it's not like they're you generally when you play exit or your forwards aren't in danger of having missed tackles. So that that helps their their numbers.
00:13:12
Speaker
And as much as eggs are like to pick and go, points. Even in FRD, you get a little bit of points for that. So it's worth it over certain other teams who I would not touch their front row at all. Plus, there's Acre, and you never know with him.
00:13:27
Speaker
or whoever's a hook, they have good straight stable there. The Dupree brothers and the forwards, yup, and yup. Corky, if he's healthy and back, I hope so, I'd like to see it. Then Roebuck and O'Flaherty are really the only starters, the guys you really want out there. And maybe the James's, if you're desperate. And again, you're stuck because of- Luke over Sam. Of course. Luke over Sam.
00:13:51
Speaker
On the other side for Exeter, their front row, yes. Shunza, yes. Capstick and Sam Simmons. Like, if they get all three of those guys on the pitch at once, I want to go to there. I want to see that match. Yeah, right. Harvey Skinner might be an option if you're stuck. You just have to accept the no-kicking points. And then Ollie Woodburn and Joe Simmons are really the only two backs that you really want from this team, the rest.
00:14:16
Speaker
I mean, Slade, as I recall, is not a consistent point scorer. So even though he's a great player, he might be OK. He might be OK, but we'll see. I just don't know about versus sale because it's going to be a defensive slog. That's what I assume anyway. Watch it be like a high scoring throw.
00:14:37
Speaker
All right. Uh, the match will be at one Saturday series and Lester. So for the series, um, Elliot daily has turned into a points machine, the first two games of the year. So ride that while it's hot. There's always one, there's always one outside back. That's going to do well. There's usually one that kind of does poorly against Lester, at least one. Um, but definitely there's usually two that do well at the very least. So yep. Daily's daily is a play. Now he's no longer that map.
00:15:04
Speaker
He is what Andy Goode was like three years ago right now. You mean Alex Goode? Alex Goode, not Andy Goode. Definitely not that fucker. I've had too much of this beer thing. Nick Tompkins, assuming he's back and healthy.
00:15:25
Speaker
He's the thumbs up. There's usually a center in there that'll do well. He's the damage error, I would assume, of the two. Yeah. The other side of the coin for this area is Alex Lewington just isn't quite getting the points. And he has the potential to. And, you know, if he gets loose, he's definitely scoring.
00:15:41
Speaker
But he's been the one doing a lot of the dirty work and not quite getting the points. She's like their defensive specialist at the moment. And, you know, you need that in a team, but it's just not leading to points for your fantasy team. So that's not awesome. So right now, he's a sit and hold for me. Exactly. I mean, because it's mail-ins and daily. What the fuck, you know? Right. Who knew?
00:16:02
Speaker
For Lester, if Jasper's back, you're playing him. Simple as that. And if he's not in the eighth shirt, then Levenberg's fine as well. So give that a thumbs up. Freddie Burns, if he does what he did last week, he'll be fine. He'll be a serviceable option. We saw Hastings end up being a serviceable option for Gloucester this week. So I see no reason why Freddie Burns won't either.
00:16:28
Speaker
for Lester on the other side. Tommy Rafel has been okay, but I think the seven's got problems against the series. So with that said, with Rafel only being okay and the seven having problems against said team, I'm gonna go ahead and say, find another loose forward for this weekend. And that's one category that will actually position that you'll have some options at because three on the field, you only need two on your team. So good start there.
00:16:59
Speaker
All right, off to the other match we will be at this weekend on Sunday. Harlequin's hosting

Harlequins vs Northampton Preview

00:17:05
Speaker
the Saints. Well, OK, so we were talking on the on the the pod pod about Northampton and just holes and how. Yeah. And the same thing on the Harlequin side, there's there's holes in that defense, too. We saw, I mean, the Exeter ran around just running through them. But at the same time, Harlequins are running through Exeter, too. When once they once shit got going.
00:17:30
Speaker
This is gonna be, I think, I think we're gonna break the scoreboard at the stoop, to be perfectly honest. We'll fix it. Right. We'll hold up numbers, I'm cool with that.
00:17:45
Speaker
So it's going to be like an everybody match, I still wouldn't start either front row because it's just not that it's not that kind of party this week. Not for that like yeah you could see a low maybe getting BB eating his way over.
00:18:02
Speaker
Saints are scoring through their backs, and really, so are Harlequins. Will Evans, Kenningham, and Dom Brandt are really the only forwards I'd start from Quinn's. I'm hoping Dom Brandt's healthy because I really want to see him play. And, you know, Levis, if he returns, I don't know what his timeline is. And then the entire back line is a full-on go because Quinn's are just a giant Swiss cheese
00:18:25
Speaker
thing. On the Saints, again, sit the front row. They're just not producing at all. Love them back. Yes, that's great. Augustus, of course. Just hope he doesn't get himself carded because he has that problem every so often. And then again, the entire back line from Mitchell on out. All are going to rake. This is going to be some open play rugby and should be a good time. Yeah, totally agree.
00:18:55
Speaker
All right, of the weeks. So my guy is having himself a great year. It's a bit of a bounce back year for him. And trust me, a lot of people are excited fancy wise for that. I promise you that. Good matchup on top of it all. And like I said, he's in good form. So my start of the week for around for the membership is Bears Midfielder, Piers O'Connor.
00:19:20
Speaker
OK, yeah, that's good. That's a good shout, especially all especially gets this matchup. You should be looking his his chops there.
00:19:29
Speaker
My start of the week, I was looking back through to make sure I didn't pick him, which I have not. I'm going heavy on the Quinn's in recent weeks, actually in every week. I think this is so I needed to get away from the Quinn's for my start of the week. I know that's not in our rules exactly, but I still want to make sure I'm, you know, spread it around a lot. But I'm still sticking with the same match. So I'm going with Freeman for the Saints.
00:19:52
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Yeah. You look good last week. Whenever he plays, he scores. And this is a match where he'll have the opportunity to score. Yeah. Space will be there. Yeah. Space will be there. This is Open Rugby here. All right. My sit of the week.

Week 4 Fantasy Recommendations

00:20:09
Speaker
Tough place to play, tough team to play, and just not in good form. And I'm not sure this game is going to be as open as it needs to be for him to even have any benefit whatsoever. And really, I just don't like the player a whole lot. So my say of the week for week four of the premiership in FRD is Exeter in England wing, Jack Noll.
00:20:31
Speaker
Well, yeah, yes. Good call. Very good call there. And Tom O'Flaherty is playing his old team. Remember that. So keep that in your brain. He is. He is. That's going to be best. I think he's going to make people really, really fucking hate life on exit. A little motivation there. Definitely. And he's been scoring. I think, yeah, he's scored every match that he's played with sales. So just about. Well, he's only played two.
00:20:55
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, that's actually scored in both. Better, better fancy scores in one as opposed to the other, but that's OK. That's OK as well. My set of the week was a gentleman you mentioned and. The thing about him is he's playing in a position that his opposition.
00:21:15
Speaker
generally shut down pretty well. And he himself, again, he's coming off a good week, but again, you got to consider the opposition. Because Jimmy Goprath almost scored a try against them, let's not forget. And it did end up with a try assist even. So yeah, we're going up against, we're talking about two different deep levels of defense here. And my

Player Selection Warnings

00:21:34
Speaker
city of the week is Freddie Burns. OK. Yeah.
00:21:39
Speaker
I don't understand that. Yeah, especially because one of the things that we didn't mention on the other pod, though, is I texted Jared as I didn't get to see the match live. The series match live because I was coaching. Yeah, that was fun to return. But then when I was watching when I came back and it was like 60 or so minutes, maybe only 50 minutes in.
00:22:05
Speaker
And I was like, I don't care if Sarri's win this match, however it ends, doesn't matter. I'm glad we're watching them next week because they...
00:22:14
Speaker
Even though they won that match, they deserve rockets fired up their asses anyway. And yeah, that usually results in Sarri's playing, you know, even though they won, that was not the way they they wanted to play right now. And so there's, you know, Mark McCall is going to have some some words even if after the win again. And I think Sarri's are going to just rock the fuck up because they need to put a stamp on it. They can't be we squeaked out of that. No, no, no, we're good. We're here. No, I totally agree. Totally agree.
00:22:43
Speaker
And plus, you know, you got to make up for, for last year, the final got to start exacting some revenge. Yeah. Tell me about it. So tell me about it. Okay. So yeah, make, make Freddie pay. Exactly though. Right. Damn you, Freddie. Damn you. Thank you, Freddie. All right. Pick up them.
00:23:12
Speaker
I

Match Predictions

00:23:13
Speaker
think we both went three and three last week. Not amazing. No, we've done better. But we're still tied, which is crazy. That's the even worse part in some ways. Oh, man. Untie us somehow. So I'm going to tie my hands, would you? Anyway, we have Newcastle Bristol on Friday night, Bristol. The visitors, yes. I don't know how the... Newcastle's not stopping on this machine at the very end. That's all I know.
00:23:44
Speaker
Burnford Community Stadium, London Irish in Bath, or whatever the new name of it is, it doesn't matter. I'm taking the exiles. Yeah, me too. Hmm, sale and exit. I'll take exit. I'm taking the hosts. You are. Because that's all I get. Yeah, it's not pretty either way, so. Right. Whatever. All right. And then...
00:24:09
Speaker
Matt, one of the matches will be at series and Lester service. Yeah. Yeah. Being kind of being the, the, the, the tipping point there, the fact that they're, they get the home cooking. Yes. That's mostly it. Yeah. Quinn's North Hampton. Well.
00:24:23
Speaker
One team's one this year and one hasn't and it's the quiz. So I'm going with that one. And Northampton are looking, as I said, leaky, very civ-like on defense. Defense coach needs to start talking to you at the very least. You should feel like he's on the hot seat. But he's one of the best young defense coaches in the Northern Hemisphere. Just ask them. Yeah. Yeah. Uh-huh. That's what I was told about me. Saints have a win.
00:24:50
Speaker
They won last week, but doesn't matter. Two weeks, yeah. Well, yeah. Right. But they only beat the Irish. Yeah, they beat the Irish, but yeah, I don't see them winning this one, unfortunately. No, because that's like, you know, it's the Irish. They're kind of middling with... And they were talking about it on the broadcast. Like, they've only won...
00:25:09
Speaker
They haven't, they're the best of the rest basically is what it comes down to them. And that's, that's, that's not, that will get you into the playoffs, but it's not good enough to obviously take down. Right. You're going to end up with an away semi and you're going to get run off the pitch. That's just ghosting. You had a fucking catch. Yeah. They played brilliantly in that one, but that's also because it was tigers. True. Yeah. That helped them a lot of ways. All right. Cool. So.
00:25:40
Speaker
Friends,

Weekend Plans and Fan Meetups

00:25:42
Speaker
those of you that we're gonna see your beautiful faces this weekend, we look forward to it. And I'm personally like can't sleep excited about like meeting people that we've been talking with and conversing with. And since we started doing this stupid thing,
00:26:03
Speaker
for, you know, in real life, like face to face, all that shit, like it's gonna be great. I'm trying to like, so here's the thing, I'm compartmentalizing, cause I do that. So I'm just like. You're a fucking sociopath. Exactly. And like, I gotta not be, cause I'm like working my way towards not being excited, cause like you said, I gotta sleep tonight. So what I've done is I've put off packing and even thinking about what I'm gonna pack until tomorrow. So I can just do that. Like spend my day panicking tomorrow and then I can sleep on the plane.
00:26:33
