Introduction to the Podcast and Its Purpose

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to This or More, a wild entrepreneurial podcast adventure for bold and brave creatives like you. I'm Tiffany Napper, your host, holistic business coach, corporate music industry dropout, a seasoned five-time multi-six-figure entrepreneur, yoga instructor, and your go-to gal for heart-to-heart coffee chats. On this show, we're not just here to share stories. We're here to ignite a fire within you and make you realize that the reality you envision is just the tip of the iceberg.
00:00:29
Speaker
You're wildly capable of achieving that reality and so much more.

Holiday Stress and Overwhelm

00:00:34
Speaker
So my friends, grab your cup of inspiration, settle in, and let's dive into another inspiring episode of This or More. December! Anyone else wondering how the heck we got here? Anyone feeling like the days are just creeping up on them and the list is long and you don't know how on earth you're going to get it all done?
00:00:58
Speaker
Anyone feeling a little scattered, juggling holidays and business and family?
00:01:05
Speaker
Anyone reflecting and wishing maybe you had done a little bit more? Accomplished a little bit more? Welcome back to another episode of This Or More. I'm your host, Tiffany Napper, and today's episode is going to be short but sweet because I know how hectic this time of year can be. And in fact, earlier this year, I learned about this little thing called second derivative negative feelings. It's a mouthful.
00:01:30
Speaker
Essentially, when we feel down because we haven't gotten XYZ done, we also feel down that we feel down about it. Or we are like meta down. Or when we feel anxious that we haven't done something. We feel anxious that we're anxious, right? So we're meta anxious. C.S. Lewis wrote, part of every misery is misery's shadow.
00:01:57
Speaker
Let that one sink in for just a minute, right? So if you're feeling overwhelmed and you're feeling uneasy that you're overwhelmed, if you're feeling bad that you haven't gotten all the presents wrapped or prepped all the emails and then you feel bad about feeling bad about it, I want to offer you a new perspective today.

Managing Expectations and Self-Acceptance

00:02:18
Speaker
It's a wild one. Are you ready? Embrace that you're not going to get it all done. That's it.
00:02:26
Speaker
Embrace that you're going to feel scattered because we all do this time of year. Look around. We are all juggling holiday decor and quarter four. We're all sprinting from Zoom calls to shopping malls and decked out halls. You are not alone in these feelings. And I think that's just a giant, I hope for you, it's a giant permission slip to say,
00:02:53
Speaker
Okay, I don't have to try to be superhuman right now. I can just be me. That's enough. You're definitely not alone in how you're feeling right now, but you do have full autonomy over how you perceive yourself and your efforts.
00:03:15
Speaker
You have full autonomy over what you prioritize and what boundaries you put into place and what you say yes to and what you say no to. That is all fully in your control, believe it or not. You might say, no, Tiffany, I can't possibly do that. There will be backlash. Someone will be unhappy. That's on them. Put down what you're carrying. It's not yours to carry.
00:03:41
Speaker
take care of you, do what you need to do. I encourage you not to pretend like you're not at war with your to-do list, okay, but rather to acknowledge it and accept it and maybe even give it a little love and accept that a lot is expected this time of year. And I'm going to stereotype for just a moment, but as women,
00:04:05
Speaker
As a woman, a lot of times, a lot of the holiday to-do list falls on us. Accept that a lot is expected this time of year and it's okay to let a few things go undone. And it's okay to ask someone else to step up and help you.
00:04:29
Speaker
It is only when we don't want to accept reality that we truly suffer. So if we can just accept that there's going to be a lot of things to get done and that we might not be able to do all of them ourselves, guess what?

The Power of Asking for Help

00:04:43
Speaker
You just stopped your own suffering. You just created your own joy.
00:04:49
Speaker
It's really that simple. So if you're feeling overwhelmed, take a look at that to-do list, ask yourself what really needs to get done and what can go. Ask yourself who can help and how they can help, and then ask them to help. This is a beautiful thing. I have a presentation called Help is Not a Four Letter Word. It's tongue in cheek, obviously. It's not a bad word. It is a four-letter word. It's just not a bad four-letter word.
00:05:15
Speaker
And part of what I chat about in that presentation is how as humans, they've done all of these studies that show that when we ask someone to help, they actually really feel good about it. Like it makes them feel valued. It makes them feel wanted. And one of our innate human desires is to feel valued and wanted and seen and of service. So when you ask somebody to help you,
00:05:43
Speaker
Set the table or wrap the present or pick up the ham or whatever it might be Guess what? You're giving them a little gift and we tend to think that we're being a burden and that's not true That's not true at all So again, just remember you have full autonomy over how you perceive that to-do list and what you decide to do and what you decide to let go of and
00:06:07
Speaker
So do what feels good. Do what will allow you to really enjoy this season to show up with a cup that is full so that you can pour into your loved ones or pour into yourself if you need a little alone

time. I'm going to be taking a little alone time this year for the holidays. It will be my first time ever to not rush to be with my family for this holiday season. And it's a little bittersweet, but it is a choice I'm making because I know
00:06:37
Speaker
I need a little quality alone time to fill my cup, and I will spend it with friends, don't worry, and I will see my family, don't worry, but on Christmas Day, I'm gonna be filling my own cup quite a bit, and I'm really looking forward to it. Now is the perfect time to hydrate or take a quick sip of your latte while I tell you about a tool that can help you on your journey. Studies show 88% of women-owned businesses never reach six figures in revenue. I'm on a mission to change that.
00:07:06
Speaker
Often, service-based business owners struggle to make predictable income. You're on what I call the revenue roller coaster, and it leaves you feeling really overwhelmed and frustrated. You've thought about quitting multiple times, your Instagram efforts are not paying off, and you're drowning in unfinished courses.
00:07:23
Speaker
It's time to swap the faux magic pill for a plan that actually works. At UpLoveOtherSociety, we believe in empowering entrepreneurs with practical, actionable solutions. That's why I created Make That Money Honey, my accelerator program designed to help you boost sales and gain confidence in just 30 days. M-T-M-H. Gain more confidence, more leads, and more money with my resources, support, and 30-day action plan. Let's make that money, honey. Welcome back. I'm so glad you're still here with us. It's your host and coach Tiffany. Let's continue.
00:08:30
Speaker
If you're struggling with what to do and your to-do list and how much is on it, I highly suggest right now pick up your BGA journal. This is my guided journal I've created. It is perfect this time of year. Allow
00:08:43
Speaker
it to help you see on paper what is a priority and what's not. In the BGA Journal, I encourage you, I guide you through selecting three things that you're going to focus on today. And through that process, what happens is all the things that aren't a priority fall away. And if you don't have a BGA Journal, now is a really good time to grab one.
00:09:03
Speaker
In fact, go ahead and grab one and grab a few extras to stuff in stockings because the beginning of a new year is another really great time to find your focus and cultivate a healthy daily routine that sets you up for success. I'll drop the link in the show notes down below so it's really easy for you to add to cart.
00:09:21
Speaker
Okay, I'm off to wash the dog, wrap a few presents, and batch a few emails for my new program that's launching in January. Those are my three more priority tasks that I'm focusing on today. I'm really excited about all of them. I'm sending you so much love today and every day. As always, thank you for tuning in. Please share this episode with a friend who is trying to do it all and could use a little pep talk right about now. Until next time, happy holidays.
00:09:51
Speaker
I'll see you soon.
