I'm doing pretty good. Yeah, some some internet snafus. We had to take a little 15-minute detour down the road. And, of course, now someone's weed whacking outside my house. I don't know if you guys can hear that. We don't we don't hear it. It was little i was like literally the second we started. also
00:01:16
Speaker
I apologize to the audience. The room's a little echoey. It's a little different in here. Yeah, it's sound it's soundproof. That's why. From the outside. That's why we can hear the weed whacker, but it's echoey. yeah that's what Yeah, it's soundproof from the outside because this is a torture room.
00:01:30
Speaker
yeah You got the CIA director ah badge thing. Yeah, yeah yeah i'm ah I'm in trouble. you know fake a baby They finally caught on. We

Pokemon Card Collection & Values

00:01:40
Speaker
got you.
00:01:41
Speaker
And of course, last but not least, Master of Graphics and Blackhawks fan, Hodge. How you doing? I'm doing good. My cough is still here, but it's finally starting to subside. But ah as we'll get to eventually, I started, or my girlfriend got me into buying Pokemon cards again. So I've been collecting again, and we opened a bunch of packs yesterday. So I got to show you some of the cool ones that that we got, but...
00:02:07
Speaker
I'm good, and I'm happy to be here again, and unfortunately Sean's random internet snafu has him in his black site, but happy to be here, happy to do this. I thought you said something very different, you said my cough is back, I thought you said something very different. I don't know what that could have been.
00:02:27
Speaker
Yeah, I'm not going say it, I'm going to leave that up ah to audience interpretation. yeah So are you going to show us the cards or you would make us wait? Oh, yeah, we can go through that. All right. So I. Let's see the cards. These are the ones that I decided to leave. They're not all like super special, but they're ones that I just thought were cool. So I put them in sleeves. So first, well, this is the the promo that comes with one the tins. It's just a really cool Entei card, but it's like the promo that comes with like the tinn. For those and Midnight who don't know, Entei is a legendary Pokemon from Generation 2.
00:03:00
Speaker
Yeah. yeah and I got a Salamence EX card. i wish I heck could have a better light. Wait, can i Generation 5, Pokemon Black and White. This is a good time to let you guys know that this podcast is available on all audio platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Cast. But if you want to actually see what Hodge is holding up, go to youtube.com slash at games over plastic. It's in 4K and you can see these cards.
00:03:25
Speaker
four kid I got this cool trainer thing. It's all just a shiny pink one. though i thought it was cool. It's a headset. Yeah. Are any of these cards worth good money or no?
00:03:36
Speaker
A couple of them will be when I get to them. These ones aren't. These are all like these are like a couple of books. it's ah What's Clodsire? Oh, okay. I thought it was Werelord. I couldn't tell.
00:03:48
Speaker
No. And then I got this cool Snorlax. I just love Snorlax, so I had to put it in a case. Snorlax is always my spirit animal. hol Have you ever seen like the ah giant thing that's like $400, like a giant Snorlax beanbag chair? Yeah. If it wasn't so expensive, I would 1,000% buy that because I love Snorlax. Yeah, it's one of the little ones up on my shelf up there. I have my favorite Pokemon up there, and Snorlax is one of them.
00:04:14
Speaker
Then I got this cool Janmega. ah Generation 4. Yeah. Zapdos, because obviously. One of the goats. This sweet, like, I got this sweet, like, crystal sandcastle thing, whatever it is. but Oh, yeah. It's from Generation 7. It's from Sun and Moon.
00:04:33
Speaker
Yeah. And I got Bellybolt.
00:04:40
Speaker
I don't know what that's from All right, now we're getting to the really cool ones. um Got this sweet Persian one. Giovanni's Persian. Yeah, Giovanni's Persian. It is so dope. I think this one's like, if I remember right, if it's like graded, it's like a $20 card or something. It's not like super expensive, but same with this sweet Vaporeon.
00:05:02
Speaker
Ooh, an Eeveelution. Yeah. I have a ah on my Christmas tree, all my or I have an ornament set of all the Edelutions. Oh, yeah? Yeah. ah Then this, what is this? Vulcanion?
00:05:16
Speaker
Vulcanion. Yeah. Vulcanion. And then these are the two most, these are the last two. These are my most prized ones. I think this one was like $80 if it's graded. It's a Rodom full art card. oh Ooh, Rodom.
00:05:28
Speaker
Send it in. Rodom is so cool. And then I think this one's about $200 if it's graded. It's a sweet Articuno card. Get them graded, man. It's fun. Yeah. yeah

Gaming Experiences & Reviews

00:05:37
Speaker
So i might I might get those ones graded.
00:05:39
Speaker
Might as well. but These two are the, yeah, these are the and they're the coolest arts too. There's Rodom and Articuno. Do you know anything about Rodom? I just know it's like some weird transformer thing. There's like ah like that's what Pokedex is in one of the games and stuff. Like, yeah. And sun and moon, it takes the form of a Pokedex, but, um, Rotom, if depending on if you give it a certain item, it changes like type and form. And each type is like a different, like, uh, like the way it looks is different. Like the ice type is like a refrigerator,
00:06:10
Speaker
yeah yeah because i know it in pokopia it's like a stereo or something isn't it yeah it's super cool i remember the first time i encountered it it was in um pokemon platinum i was like what is i had no idea what it was and then like i started like getting then like you start getting all the items and you're like this is i thought it was the coolest thing ever yeah yeah i don't know too much i just thought that card is awesome that art that full art card but yeah she's uh reawakened my love of of collecting pokemon cards uh One of my buddies says that he still has his cards from his childhood at his parents' house. And I'm like, you need to grab those. Like, you don't need to give them. I mean, I would take them for sure. I'd buy them from him. But I'm like, if you have those, please bring them out so I can look at them. Because I just want to see those old cards again. Because they were so, so cool.
00:06:55
Speaker
But i'm I'm just, yeah. I'm back into the... i just I just love looking at the cards. They're sweet looking. So, yeah, I'm back into buying packs, being a cool guy.
00:07:09
Speaker
Sean, don't you collect them or have bunch of them or something? Yeah, I still have a lot cards. I don't actively collect them, but if I see like I'm not going out lining up at midnight those 50-year-old men trying to make some money. But, like, if I'm in, like, a store and I see a pack, I'm like, yeah, I'll grab a pack. if I'm at, like, the Nintendo store in New York, like, I'll get a pack. And if someone, like, you know, if I'm in the mood, I'll buy some stuff. Yeah, I love just opening. I love opening the cards. Like, that's, like, it brings me back to being, like, a child. Just, opening it. Oh, The new smell of the cards. Oh, my God.
00:07:46
Speaker
All right. agree. Good stuff. Yeah, send those in to get graded. Do it. Yeah. Even if not for the money, it's just cool to have them graded, you know, put on the wall or put on your shelf. and Yeah. I'll probably leave.
00:07:57
Speaker
Yeah, I'll do it at the very least with those two really cool ones. I might do this Vaporeon one also just because I love i love that artwork. It like has like the crystals and stuff on it. How much does it cost to get graded? Like PSA?
00:08:10
Speaker
PSA is the most valuable, isn't it? Or is it different with Pokemon? I don't know. I honestly don't remember. but I think PSA is still the way to go. In sports it is. yeah probably It's the most valuable in sports. yeah yeah I don't know. I was debating running GameStop later. maybe ah because I know they can send they send stuff in, so I can ask them.
00:08:28
Speaker
but college Can you ask them to rate my Neopets cards? but They're all worth a bill each. All right. Good. All right. All right, guys. Well, yeah, there you go. Pokemon. So make sure you guys check out the video version. Leave us likes, comments, subscribe, all that fun stuff. On this episode, this is the monthly wrap up. We are going to be getting into what we have been playing. It's going to be a great time. um So, yeah. Why don't we go ahead and just hop right into it? I think I've already kind of got into the administrative stuff for the most part. We come to you every Monday.
00:09:02
Speaker
All that fun stuff. So yeah, let's get into it. And why don't, Hodge, why don't you start us off with a game here? Are we going to rotate? Let's rotate. Yeah, we're going to rotate. We're going to rotum eight. We're going to rotate. o Hodge, start us off with a game, sir. All right. We'll start off with one that we started talking about. And then obviously we did a spoiler cast for, and that is Resident Evil Requiem.
00:09:26
Speaker
Obviously, since we last did this, I beat it. We did and ah we did a spoiler cast, which was a whole lot of fun, me and Midnight. And yeah, if you haven't listened to that, obviously go back and listen to it if you want. Otherwise, I'll just give my quick impressions. ah The game was amazing. It's my second favorite behind two. I just think two...
00:09:46
Speaker
I just love that game start to finish, whereas in 9, there's just a little bit hokiness that holds it back for me. But overall, it's an amazing game. It's beautiful. It's a lot of fun to play as both characters. ah But yeah, like we said, it definitely deserves the Metacritic score it's getting. like Obviously, right now, it's the frontrunner for Game of the Year, and it's, you know...
00:10:06
Speaker
It's deservedly so. Obviously, there's a lot coming out this year. is that It's going to be tough to hold that mantle, but as of March, it is definitely the best game to come out this year, I think. and yeah it's just i don i don't want to I don't have too much to say. Obviously, again, we did an entire we did an hour plus. I can't remember. It was hour, hour and a half on spoiler cast for that. so yeah If you want my full feelings on it, go to that. Resident Evil Requiem, that was the first game that I beat in the month of March, and it was a lot of fun.
00:10:36
Speaker
Yeah, there you go. um I also beat Resident Evil Requiem, so I'll go next. um Yeah, we did a spoiler cast. So everyone who's interested in that and you want to check it out, even if you haven't beat the game, the first part of it, the first like 20 some minutes is spoiler free. So if you want to just check out the opening, you can.
00:10:53
Speaker
ah But yeah, Resident Evil Requiem was great. The first Resident Evil game that I have beaten since one and two on the like original PlayStation. So it's been ages. And it was a lot of fun. Great graphics, great characters, good story.
00:11:05
Speaker
um I liked it a lot. um I'm interested in playing more of the games in the future. um I will just keep it short and sweet. I'd say check out the spoiler cast. And you know it's an amazing spoiler cast because Papa Mason,
00:11:18
Speaker
Gave it his seal of approval, didn't he, Sean? Indeed he did. It's his new current favorite of the series. Nice. yeah Yeah, yeah. He said, oh, for the game, yeah, that too. But yeah, I was talking about our spoiler cast. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, he did. Yeah, he liked it. Yeah, he said he listened to many spoiler casts, but ours was one of the best. so Obama medals, put them on, you know? Oh, yeah.
00:11:41
Speaker
Oh, yeah. All So, yeah, Resident Evil Requiem was beaten by Hodge and I. And like I said, I'm not going to get in too much. You know, this game, though, ah just to give you a little bit more meat on the bones, you know, it's two play styles. Leon is action based and he's he's just beating down everyone and throwing out one liners. And then you have Grace and she's scared. And it's like traditional Resident Evil where you're sneaking and solving puzzles and stuff. And it's great. And I recommend it. So.
00:12:07
Speaker
ah Sean, you want to get into one of your games? Yeah, I'll get into one of my games. So i am going to pick up where I left off last week, where I talked to, well, last time we did our monthly remount i re recap. I was talking about Pokemon Leaf Green. As we all know, it was released on the Nintendo-ish game.
00:12:26
Speaker
Virtual console thing. I know it was release of Nintendo eShop. What am I talking about? I'm an idiot. um And yeah, so I was doing a hardcore Nuzlocke, which for those who don't know, it's ah you play on set mode.
00:12:40
Speaker
So that means like you can't change Pokemon like after Pokemon feints, like you don't have option to change Pokemon. um To a new Pokemon it makes it a little bit more challenging you also cannot use items in in battle if a Pokemon dies it is good it is gone you put it in the dead box or you release it I have a grave I named one of the boxes grave Which is kind of cool you also nickname all your Pokemon so I ended up I beat leaf green I ended up with 13 deaths of 13 Pokemon were in the grave salute to them
00:13:12
Speaker
Sorry, some of them were sacrificial so i get like a switch in. i'm like, all right, you know, I'm going sacrifice you so I can get a free switch. Yep. Sorry. Sorry. um Meow from I apologize. That was you. I called you Goldfinger. don't know why i called you Goldfinger and you are now dead.
00:13:27
Speaker
Yeah. Final team in the Hall of Fame. Entering the Hall of Fame. i had five Pokemon into the Hall of Fame because one did die the Elite Four. I'm sorry to Hawkeye the Pidgeot. You had to be sacrificed. I apologize. But I had Franklin the Blastoise. He entered the Hall of Fame. I had a Rocky the Prime Ape.
00:13:47
Speaker
He entered the Hall of Fame. Mr. Sleep, aka Hypno, entered the Hall of Fame. Yeah. Mr. Sleep, he was a cool dude. I had ah Mudhead, which was a gar gro which was a muck.
00:14:00
Speaker
Mudhead. I don't know why called him Mudhead. Just did. I had Alice, the Victory Bell, enter the Hall of Fame. I called her Alice because it reminded me um of something about Heartless and that you would encounter in Wonderland from um Kingdom Hearts. Yeah.
00:14:17
Speaker
That's why I named it Alice. You know, why not? Yeah. No, no, overall it was a fun time. I really enjoyed my time with Pokemon Leaf Green. It was really fun to just, you know, go through that world and re-experience Kanto in all its glory.
00:14:36
Speaker
But ah it really made me, really makes me want the other Gen 3 games on there. And it really makes me want the Gen 4 and 5 games on there. So yeah, it was a lot of fun though. And I'm really glad I'm seeing people who have never played it before experience And like, this game's freaking awesome. Yeah, and then I love like the post-game where you get to go to the Seve Islands from the Orange Island arc in the Pokemon anime, which is kind cool.
00:14:58
Speaker
They added that in a little bit. But yeah, pretty cool. um Yeah, again, I apologize to all those Pokemon that I had to sacrifice to get a free Switch in your Your service was noted, and yeah, you will be remembered. Nice.
00:15:20
Speaker
Hey, man, they knew what they signed up for when you caught them in the ball, right? Yeah, they were like, you know what? I know i'm gonna be a sacrificial lamb so you your free switch in. I'm sorry, but you know what? It had to be done. Exactly. Exactly. When you threw out that ball against their will and trapped them in it, they knew what they were getting in for.
00:15:35
Speaker
yeah It was done. It was done. It's what it is, yeah. i've Actually, it's funny because I use Hypno. part of Nuzlocke rules, you can only catch you catch one Pokemon per route, and it has to be the first encounter that you you see. And there's like a no-dupes rule. So that means if you've, if you like say if you've got Pidgey on one route, you can't get a Pidgey on another route. So it's like the no-dupes clause, that's they call it. So I never used, actually, in all my time playing Pokemon, never used like the Drowsy or Hypno.
00:16:04
Speaker
And so i actually got a Hypno this time. And, you know, yeah I made it through with Hypno and it was ah pretty cool. who I remember Hypno. Yeah. He was in ah Pokemon Y. Really? was it What color is he?
00:16:20
Speaker
a Purple. Oh, my God. Blue? No, he's yellow. He's yellow? Yeah, he is yellow. That's right. Yeah. He's got like those swirly eyes, right? No, he doesn't.
00:16:32
Speaker
He doesn't have like the the swirly eyes? No, he's thinking of something different. He's definitely thinking something different. Hold on, let me look up Hypno. It's not you're thinking of. oh I am thinking of something different. Okay. But okay, I've seen this dude before too, though.
00:16:46
Speaker
Was he in Y? have no idea. Maybe. just remember I put on Y regional Pokedex. Yeah, i don't know He's an OG. He is. He is.
00:16:57
Speaker
ah There you go. That's right. you know dr Drowsy evolves into Hypno at level 26. Were you thinking of Mime? I don't know who was thinking of. Who knows? it might I might have had a ah creepy dream one night. Who knows, man?
00:17:10
Speaker
Yeah, I'm trying to think eyes. I think you were thinking of Mr. Mime, or were thinking maybe Grumpig. Maybe. Who knows? I might have just completely made something up in my head. Who knows? was thinking of a Digimon.
00:17:25
Speaker
Dude, that most recent Digimon actually looks good. I saw it was on sale on PlayStation, and the screenshots actually looked good. like It looked like a look like Pokemon with a bigger budget. yeah i better graphics I like Digimon, but that is โ€“ I do like Digimon, yeah.
00:17:41
Speaker
But, Hodge, you play FireRed, right? Yeah, i was going to say that I'm still playing Fire Red. I haven't beaten it yet. I play it. I just have it inside of a backpack with like my work computer and stuff in it that I obviously bring to work. And so during lunch every day, I'll sit in my truck and play for like a half hour. while I'm on my lunch. And i have seven of the badges so far. I just got the seventh. at a Freaking Blaine.
00:18:08
Speaker
Was it Cinnabar Island? Is that where it is? yeah Blaine's blazing up in his gym. Yeah. And I have 70 of my Pokedex completed. I'm very angry. i had 25.
00:18:21
Speaker
was either great or ultra balls, or I had like a combo of them. And I went to go catch Zapdos and I ran out of Pokeballs. In the power plant. In the power plant. Yeah, I was so mad. just, the fact that that was everything of if you beat a Pokemon to the point of it fainting that you can't catch it. It's the dumbest rule. It's like, no, it's fine, dude. That's one thing the newer Pokemon games get right. Where if you accidentally kill the Pokemon, they'll give you the option, hey, do you want to redo that battle?
00:18:56
Speaker
Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah. It's so stupid that you can't... Like, I got it down into the red. It had maybe five health left. I'm like, there's I can't hurt it anymore because I'm going to kill it. And so I'm sitting there just chucking balls at it trying to catch it. And then, of course, it it breaks out of everyone. All I had left was my Master Ball. I'm like, I'm not wasting a Master Ball on Zapdos. You gotta use Master Ball for Mewtwo. You have to.
00:19:18
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. so I'm like, I'm not using it. So I ended up having to just kill the Zapdos and leave. i so I was so pissed. i was like, oh my god. Couldn't you save some? Or would have to be there again? Couldn't you say he's gone? Yeah, I mean, you could, but you had to do that before the fight.
00:19:31
Speaker
Yeah, i yeah i should I probably should have done that. Hodge is trying to play it in true spirit like ah like a five-year-old where you don't remember. you didn't know about Doubt. Doubt. Yeah, no, I've never done that where I save before battle. Hodge is not a true spirit guy.
00:19:46
Speaker
yeah Is Zapdos your favorite of the Legendary Bird trio? Um... Yeah, probably. I'm a fire type person, so Entei's my favorite legendary dog, but or cat, whatever they are. Dog, cat, cat, dog. No one knows.
00:20:02
Speaker
Yeah, it's of animals. And Flareon is my favorite Eeveelution. But I just never liked Moltres' design. i I just thought Zapdos looked the coolest of the other three. I was an Articuno guy. But ah I'm going to be honest, those three legendary birds aren't among my favorite of the legendaries.
00:20:22
Speaker
Yeah, my favorite are well there might yeah probably the Entei, Suicune, and Raikou are probably my favorite of the legendary. Well, Lugia is my all-time favorite legendary Pokemon. But ah yeah, the three dogs are probably my favorite of like the legendaries. i like Garatina. Garatina is freaking awesome.
00:20:43
Speaker
Which one's that? He's from Generation 4. you look up the cover of Pokemon Platinum.
00:20:50
Speaker
Garatina. Oh, yeah, that, like, dragon-looking thing, yeah. Yeah, he's f freaking awesome. He has two different forms. He's awesome. I also like Deoxys. Deoxys is really cool. Deoxys is cool, yeah. I think I have... I think I have Giratina in Pokemon Go, actually. and i've collected I've gotten most of the legendaries in Pokemon Go back. I still hop into that occasionally. I fell off for years, but...
00:21:11
Speaker
Since I've been starting to go for walks and stuff again, i was like, yeah, it gives me something to do while out on a walk. So I've redownloaded it. And my girlfriend also plays Pokemon Go. So we just give each other gifts every day and stuff. But.
00:21:25
Speaker
Yeah, I'm getting back in that Pokemon spirit. I just need the games to be good. I pray that Wave and Wind or whatever those ones are called are good, but was not impressed by what was shown. But playing FireRed, though, that has also sparked my love for Pokemon again. I absolutely love FireRed. And I cannot wait to play Hard Gold. I can't wait to play Hard Gold, Soul Filler. Yeah, I really, really want to play those. So I might have to...
00:21:51
Speaker
I don't know. Maybe they'll be at GameStop. I'll run to GameStop today and see if they have a copy. Probably not. but ah Otherwise, I'll just buy it digitally on my 3DS. I absolutely am loving Pokemon again. I just need the games to be to match the rest of it because I don't like them. so But overall, Pokemon Red, I'm hoping I'll have it beat. have it beat by next wrap-up, but I don't know if I'll have a beat like this week or anything. But I am close. i Like I said, I have seven of the eight badges. And about 70 Pokemon. My Charizard is my main, and he's a level 45 right now. So they're getting they're up there. They're there's some strong beasts. My set is Charizard, Raichu, Graveler, since I can't get Golem, because I think to trade for Golem. Yeah, evolution. So I can't... i can't And my actually i accidentally hit yes when I caught my Geodude for nicknaming him, even though I didn't want to. So I did i did it, but for a different reason. I named him Rocky because like you did Primate or Mankey, but I did ah my Geodude is Rocky, so he's just his name's Rocky. and When I do Nuzlocke, when I do nickname, I try to name Pokemon after something that like...
00:23:06
Speaker
I try to do like, so like characters. Like when I caught the Rattata and then eventually eradicate, eventually he was sacrificed. I did like, I named him Wormtail after Harry. Like, you know what I mean? I did do like, um it was probably 10 years ago.
00:23:22
Speaker
i did a, I did a hardcore Nuzlocke in heart gold, which I'm actually currently doing right now in soul silver. But, um, I did it like 10 years ago. I did all Harry Potter theme names. So like, i got a sick mo hot if you know,
00:23:34
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I named it Prongth. Nice. Yeah. Perfect. Yeah. i ah Yes, and then i obviously have a Nidoking because that dude can learn everything. like It's hilarious that like he was never really that popular of a Pokemon, but in the game, he's like a monster because he can learn every single like power. He's beast. So I have him, and then i have my Pidgeot, and then Vileplume is my last. Ooh, okay. There you go. That's not bad. Yeah, I always i like Nidoking a lot. um I was more of a Nidoqueen. I like Nidoqueen a lot better. Mm-hmm.
00:24:13
Speaker
Yeah, i have ah I have the female Nidoran and Nidorina, but I never... i didn't bob Actually, I do have a Moonstone, so I guess I could evolve it to get a Nidoqueen. But yeah, but yeah i i those those are my main six because they cover all bases. I can i have everyone's weakness by having those those six in my repertoire.
00:24:34
Speaker
It's funny, you bring up how Nidoqueen underrated. Underrated Generation 1 Pokemon that not all people use, Kangaskhan. Dude, that thing has good defense. it's only and It's a normal type, but if you use fight on it, it still does not hurt it. like hank and yeah Because that's what Giovanni has. That's one of his Pokemon. and yeah the thing even my Even though I'm 10 levels higher, it's still it's it's hard to kill that thing. but That thing's defense is insane. But I've never caught one.
00:25:02
Speaker
At least not this time around. Okay. All right. Well, this is a Pokemon podcast today, man. We've been talking about ah Pokemon like 20 minutes of the episode. That's awesome. Oh, yeah. All right.
00:25:14
Speaker
Are you satisfied with your โ€“ was it FireRed? Yeah. Well, i i really quick. It's it's it's funny. but like and He went into FireRed, right? after Yeah. I'll just say really quick. like It is โ€“ you're saying that we're talking โ€“ like Even though I've shit-talked the games because I just haven't thought they've been very good in recent years, like it's such a good series that I want to be good. I want that series to be great because it's so much fun. I love it. And obviously, it's super nostalgic for me. it's like I just want the games to match that quality of like how much I love those games. and
00:25:48
Speaker
Yeah. yeah but you know what po great Make Pokemon great again.
00:25:53
Speaker
Mupka. Please, Trump, do it. Mupka. i they

Technical Issues & Star Wars Discussion

00:25:59
Speaker
my I need to get my Mupka hat. Get Elon on it, man. He's got the money. Get him to fight the game.
00:26:05
Speaker
Buy the Pokemon company.
00:26:19
Speaker
All right, we're back. Sean, unfortunately, is gone. They got him. They took him out of his black sight. They came for him. ah Yep, unfortunately. Actually, what really happened is Lord Voldemort got him. He was talking about Harry.
00:26:34
Speaker
talking about Harry Potter and he who must not named named came for him gotta watch out alright guys so we're getting back into the episode without Sean if Sean gets power again hopefully he will rejoin us but we don't know it might just be Hodge and I but who knows Sean might rejoin us but getting back to me we just heard what Hodge was playing with the Pokemon FireRed and I am going to talk about something that's not Pokemon now For you non-Pokemon fans. ah
00:27:05
Speaker
Star Wars. That's a franchise that I am am really getting into and really happy that I'm falling back in love with. You know, you were talking about you with Pokemon, me with Star Wars lately. ah So Star Wars Outlaws. I finally beat this game. ah Last time I talked about how I had beat the Lando DLC and it was a lot of fun. Well, I beat the whole game now. Had a lot of fun. It was a great semi-open world experience that takes place over about four to five different planets. Really cool with the different factions, you know the different cartels and things, all various types of missions that they give you.
00:27:38
Speaker
Pretty good story. I do like the characters. The story was solid. um i had a lot of fun. The Lando DLC was definitely the best of the two DLCs. The pirate DLC that takes place after the game was pretty good. It was like five or six missions, but I just didn't really care about it nearly as much. The fact that it takes place after the game too just makes you not care as much as well. It kind of works as like an epilogue, I guess, but still. It was all right, but i was going to say if you're going to get one DLC, just get the Lando one because it was awesome.
00:28:07
Speaker
But ah yeah, the game itself was solid. Shout out to Kay Vess. She is a great character. Great. Yeah, she's a great character. That's going to say. um And yeah, I really had a lot of fun. The combat was fun. The graphics were pretty solid. They had good space combat, too, actually. Battling in the ships was pretty cool.
00:28:26
Speaker
um So yeah, I enjoyed that. ah Let me take a moment while we're on Star Wars to do my monthly Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes update too, by the way I just want to let everybody know that I am still playing and I just have one update for you.
00:28:42
Speaker
I have unlocked my first Galactic Legend, Hodge. I know you care so much. Galactic Legends, those are the very top, like the most powerful characters in the game. There's like nine or ten of them, right? I unlocked the first one finally. They're really hard to get. It's a grind. You got unlock like a whole bunch of characters and power them up to a certain level and then beat an event.
00:28:59
Speaker
And the first one I got was Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. um And he's actually super powerful. Like he's a really good offensive unit. So... One of the few good characters from the sequel trilogy. Yeah. And he looks f freaking sweet with like his mask that's like kind of like charred and stuff. Yeah, he's awesome. Nice. Yeah, I like Kylo Ren. They should have, and speaking of Kylo Ren, they should have casted, was is it Adam Driver? Is that his name?
00:29:23
Speaker
Adam Driver. Why was he not casted as Snape? My only hope is that they asked him and he couldn't do it. That's literally my only hope is that because...
00:29:37
Speaker
i I don't think it's the โ€“ because I know a lot of people who are completely writing off the Harry Potter show because of Black Snape. But yeah i I'm not going to write off the entire show because of that. i It is dumb that they're doing it because you know they're why they're doing it. But it's I still have โ€“ did you watch the trailer for the show?
00:29:55
Speaker
No, I didn't even watch it. ah i been I'm going to watch the show, and that's why I don't care about the trailer. I don't want spoilers anyway. Yeah, I just wanted i just wanted to brief i just wanted to see a glimpse of it, and it looks good. I'm very excited for it. Yeah, Black's name's dumb, but I'm very excited for the show because I know, yeah, you just got done watching the movies, so you're also in Harry Potter mood. Yeah, I'm a big fan of Harry Potter now.
00:30:15
Speaker
yeah yeah i've Yeah, I've been listening to the fifth book, the fifth audiobook, and it's fantastic. So, yeah, I love Harry Potter, but... yeah Yeah. Anyway, yeah, I don't know why Adam Driver wasn't. He he shook he but legitimately a perfect casting for Snake. Yeah, he looks just like ah the actor who played him. Who was the actor again? Alan Rickman. Yeah, he looks just like Alan Rickman, so it would have been great, but... ah yeah But yeah, anyway, we got Black Snape. That's fine, I guess. It doesn't make any sense because he's described as having you know pale, sallow skin, but whatever. um I don't really care that much. I'm a big Harry Potter fan now that I've watched all the movies back to back recently, um and I thought they were awesome.
00:30:57
Speaker
And I even actually remember the plot and the story, which is impressive with my memory. I can actually answer quizzes and stuff and tell you what happened and why it happened. like That's how much I enjoyed it. I even remember it. Yeah. ah Yeah, I'm big into Harry Potter now, so I'm definitely going watching the show no matter what. I don't care about like the little dramas around it that some people on the internet want to make. I'm still going to watch it, so yeah no problem.
00:31:19
Speaker
um But yeah, so Star Wars Outlaws and Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. ah I beat Outlaws. I'm still playing Galaxy of Heroes. That was just kind of a meme, but I did unlock Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, and that's pretty cool because he is a galactic legend. Yeah.
00:31:33
Speaker
Yeah, I do. I still want to play Outlaws. It's funny because you're like getting into Star Wars again. I'm kind of falling. I fell off of it. You're falling out, yeah. At this point. But

Fortnite Seasons & Experiences

00:31:42
Speaker
i still do want to play Outlaws because...
00:31:45
Speaker
Despite the fact that I think Star Wars is in the shitter right now, it looks like a fun game. And it looks like a good-looking game, too. So playing as an outlaw or a bounty hunter or whatever it is, that actually seems like a cool concept because it's not just like, oh, you've got to do this and also there's Darth Vader. It's like, right. As much as I love Fallen Order, the fact that Darth Vader shows up, you're like, okay, okay.
00:32:12
Speaker
Yeah, there's the member berries. There's Darth Vader. But I mean, even though that's kind of what the Lando DLC was, but it's I'm still and knowing that they fixed it and it like runs at least better, if not good.
00:32:26
Speaker
i i definitely I want to play Outlaws at some point. I just don't know when, but it I'm very interested. I've been interested in that game. yeah I'll definitely play it at some point.
00:32:37
Speaker
Yeah, it's pretty good. Like I said, I think it does start off kind of slow. That is one thing I'll warn you That's what heard, yeah. Yeah, it takes a little bit maybe to get into, so just keep that in mind. You have to push through it a bit. um And I do recommend ah kind of pushing through until you leave the first like real planet, because that's when the game really opens up and becomes more interesting and fun, I think.
00:32:56
Speaker
Okay. You get access to more tools and more resources, and you get more comfortable with the combat and and how the game works, and you start having a lot more fun. Yeah. Okay, cool. But it's good. And it is on Game Pass, right?
00:33:08
Speaker
So I think so. if you ever decide that you I believe Ubi Plus or whatever is part of Game Pass. so And also Ubi Plus, I think it was a part of PS Plus. I don't know if it still is. So that could be an yeah i have that it might have even been like a monthly game that i that we got. But I'm not wouldn't surprise me.
00:33:25
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I'd have to check my library, but I want to say it might have been. But I don't know. Yeah. So there you go. Star Wars Outlaws. Hodge, you have another game you want to talk about? Yeah. So ah really quickly, i don't need to talk about it too much, but Fortnite had a new season come out. So I figured might as well, since it's a monthly thing, I might as well throw it in there. ah Fortnite had its new season where they introduced a rivalry ah concept where if you go up to like this rivalry board, it's basically like a just like a screen you
00:34:00
Speaker
punch it in and it'll randomly select someone on the island and it'll kind of show their general area and then you they see your general area so it's not like it's a super huge advantage just to you and uh you basically if you kill them you get these points that you can use to upgrade weapons and stuff like that it's it's pretty it's it's they they've done this before in a way they used to do bounty boards where you take out a bounty and you'd have to go find the person kill them and get points but they just kind of updated a little bit and repackaged it but It's pretty it's pretty cool, but it's it's not my favorite season. Obviously, Fortnite has its ups and downs. Some seasons are complete duds. Like, one year they had a...
00:34:37
Speaker
It was like this jungle island and you had you every weapon you found was like a common, like obviously, you know, you can find different rarities of weapons and stuff like that. And that's how they're strong. They are. And every weapon was common and you'd have to scavenge for parts to make your guns stronger. And that was like the worst. I fell off that season immediately and fell off Fortnite entirely for a while because of it. But this one's all right. It's not the best, but figured might as well bring it up since it's yeah just started. But So I'm just, that's kind of why my list is shorter because my girlfriend loves playing Fortnite, so I play with her all the time. And then ah my friends, they're all still obsessed with Fortnite. So that's what I spend most my nights doing is Fortnite-ing with them. We play ah a game mode called Reload, which is a smaller map. And as long as one person is alive on your team, you can keep reviving. So like you if you die, there's just a counter of like, this person needs to survive for 30 seconds and then you'll come back. So The goal is you kind of want to wipe the squad as fast as you can so their teammates don't come back and ah There's another one called Blitz Island, which is basically ah the Battle Royale, but on a smaller island with only 40 people, and the circle closes much faster. So it's just a really fast-paced version of the game. and So there's a lot of still a lot of fun in this game. But, yeah, the season's not amazing, but it's not bad. but i So overall, I'm enjoying it. But, yeah, I figured.
00:35:59
Speaker
Shout out. If anyone

Game Reviews: Fire Emblem & Live Alive

00:36:00
Speaker
is still playing Fortnite, then if or if you haven't, you fell off, just know there's a new season, and if you want to hop in, do it. But, yeah, that's... just, you know, figure it out. Shout it out.
00:36:11
Speaker
Alright, there you go. Shout out. um Yeah, screw Fortnite. um They are, they canceled three modes, including the ballistic mode recently. Oh, they got rid of ballistic? That sucks. Well, they did or they are. They announced it, yeah.
00:36:24
Speaker
Oh, that's cool. Yeah, so apparently, I don't know, not enough engagement with it. I like that mode. I did play it for a while. I haven't been playing it anymore, so maybe it's partially my fault they're getting rid of it because I'm not playing it anymore, but yeah I thought that was a cool mode. So it sucks so that it didn't get more support, more maps, more ah more advertisements maybe to get people in to to try it. Because I feel like a lot of people maybe didn't even know it was a thing. At least like yeah non-Fortnite players definitely didn't know it was a thing. you know like They didn't advertise it really.
00:36:54
Speaker
They supported it and advertised it to like people who play CSGO and Valorant and stuff. like you know They could have stole some of those people maybe.
00:37:03
Speaker
Well, I don't hear you. You're muted. Oh, crap. Are those game modes... Is Valorant's stuff, are those free games, or do you have to pay for those? They're free. Well, CSGO, I think you do have to pay for.
00:37:17
Speaker
Valorant, I think, is free. Because I was going to say, Fortnite's free, so that's always a good you know way to get people in. But, yeah. Yeah, I'm pretty sure CSGO you have to pay for. but Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me. People don't care. They buy it. Yeah.
00:37:35
Speaker
You know, it's Valve. People spend money on Steam. All right. So... My next game that I would like to talk about is Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. So I talked about this before how I you know i started out and at first I wasn't really feeling this game because I wasn't in the right head space. Well, I've gone back to it.
00:37:53
Speaker
I am enjoying it a lot now. The game has finally opened up and turned into like a normal Fire Emblem game. but It took a while. Actually, it was until chapter eight um that the game really opened up. Well, the chapters are short. It's usually just like a little bit of story and then one. 85 hours in.
00:38:09
Speaker
Yeah, no. Yeah, it's like the the chapters are like a little bit of story and then one map. But yeah, but by the eighth one, you finally get your base and you open up like the ability to shop and access the convoy and customize the characters and have the conversations with your people, which ranks up their friendship and affinity and relationships and stuff. So like the usual Fire Emblem stuff. So that's cool. And the story is picking up and it's good and I'm excited. So Fire Emblem.
00:38:37
Speaker
Path of Radiance. This is on the Virtual Console or the whatever they call it now. i don't know what they call it. What do they call it? ah I don't even know. don't know. It's NSO. Nintendo Switch Online or something. Yeah, and it's like the expansion pack or something. They have no big name for it. Why don't they just call it the Virtual Console? That's a good name.
00:38:57
Speaker
I don't know. Anyway, goes I'm going to call it the Virtual Console anyway. Screw you, Nintendo. All right. Yeah. So I'm playing on the virtual console. It's ah it's a GameCube game from 2005 or something. So shout out to Sean Mason, by the way, who's no longer with us. But, you know, thanks to him, I am on his family pass. Oh, nice.
00:39:19
Speaker
Familia. Familia. So yeah, I am enjoying this. This is one of the games that I'm playing actively right now. I'm playing a couple games at once, which I'm going to get into in a bit. But yeah, I'm looking forward to playing and beating this game. Shout out to Fire Emblem. I was worried that maybe the series was going to let me down, but it's not.
00:39:36
Speaker
Fire Emblem's awesome. And God, I can't wait for the one that's coming this year. It's going to game ever. Hodge, I am very interested to hear what you have to say about your next game. But before you do that, though, before you do that, though, let me let me talk about one more game because it's going to be more than me. I have more games than you, too. Let me just say also that I'm playing finally playing live, alive, live, alive, whatever. Right.
00:40:00
Speaker
ah This game, you know, this was, if you'll recall, listeners and Hodge, this was a game that I was supposed to play like the year before last. It was one of my resolutions that I didn't meet. i failed to meet Live Alive. So now I am playing it. And I got to say, the game is kind of mid.
00:40:15
Speaker
I don't know if I'm really loving this game. It's kind of set up in a structure where you have these it's like eight different seven or eight different stories right and they're bite-sized it's like two to three hour stories uh take place in different eras like one was prehistoric prehistory one was the wild west one was like you know imperial china one's like you know ancient you know japan or something right it's kind of cool sounding but what i'm finding is that i just don't care that much about these characters in these stories because it's just a little two-hour jrpg right And I'm not seeing the big picture of how it's going to come together at the end, but I guess it is. So I just got to stick with it and find out. Hopefully they bring it together at the end.
00:40:55
Speaker
But this is my side side game. Like this is the game that I care less about. The one that honestly I haven't even played in a couple of weeks right now. It's completely by the wayside and forgotten about. I'll get back to it eventually.
00:41:05
Speaker
um the The main game that I'm playing is the one I'll talk about last. And then the second game is Fire Emblem. And the last game is Live Alive. so And I'm playing a lot of Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes on my iPad. But ah

Spider-Man 2 Critique

00:41:19
Speaker
lot nonetheless, ah Hodge, I'm really interested to hear about your next game, my friend.
00:41:24
Speaker
Yeah. um So I finally. huh I want to hear the realness, too. Oh, I'm going open and honest about this one. This is going to be probably my first s spite platinum. as we just As we talk about in our Discord, there are games that we earn platinums just out of pure spite of... What is that called? the The sunken cost fallacy or whatever, where you just keep...
00:41:51
Speaker
Dump money into something, hoping it'll fix itself or whatever kind of thing or whatever that... Yeah. And so that's kind of where I am with the Spider-Man, but with my time, not money, because obviously I did not pay for this game.
00:42:04
Speaker
But i Fucking hate this game. i Oh my god. i tars like I remember when the ratings came out and everything. I don't think... can't remember how it's scored. I want to say it's probably mid to the high 80s or something. But i remember coming out and seeing all of the... Oh, it's so woke. It's so... blu rounding It's gonna... I just remember seeing all that. And obviously I don't like any of that kind of crap. But whenever... yeah
00:42:37
Speaker
88 on OpenCritic, by the way. I just looked at it for That's not surprising. Yeah, high 80s. And whenever I see those complaints online, i just kind of roll my eyes because so many people oversell that kind of โ€“ like I just said earlier with the with Black Snape, like people like this show is going to fail. No one is going to watch it. I'm like โ€“ Yeah, it's not the end of the world, guys. Yeah, and that's coming from the opposite end of the aisle of the people who said no that Hogwarts Legacy isn't going to sell because J.K. Rowling's a transphobic. Like, you're all wrong. Stop overreacting about everything. And so when people were like, this game is so woke, because the only thing I'd seen was the stupid homecoming mission where you help a guy ask a guy to homecoming that's really gay. And I'm like, all right, whatever. who gives a shit? That's one side mission. But no, every single side mission is something gay like that. And I'm just like, I hate every moment of this. And like I have nothing against the fact that have a deaf character. she's a She's a well-written character. She was also in Miles Morales. like she's she's a She's a fine character. But you play her like scaling a building to spray paint something. I'm like... what is this crap? Like, I cannot... And you help find an old man because blah, blah. blah And then you have to help find the the instruments that were stolen because the the artists of color, the it history... I'm like, I hate every moment. like and then just the writing is so bad. Like, Peter...
00:44:09
Speaker
I was the visibly, not visibly, audibly laughing. There's a scene where you're trying to help Harry, like, learn his powers or whatever like that. And you go to the their lab that they, because obviously Harry Osborn is... Careful with spoilers.
00:44:23
Speaker
Yeah. Huh? Careful with spoilers. Well, it it's in the trailer that and the everything that he has these powers. I'm not going to spoil like what happened because I'm not honestly that far in the main thing. I've been doing all the side missions to get it done. okay But there's a scene where you're in the like or like you go to the lab and he accidentally breaks like a window or something because he's trying to figure shit out. And then it cuts to the next morning. They're sleeping on the couches and Norman walks in like, what are you guys doing? And like, oh, we were ah experimenting. And like...
00:44:52
Speaker
I know some very wealthy people. If you smashed up an office, they would be like, Oh, you silly boys. They're like, you know how much this costs? Like just because they're rich doesn't mean they like wasting money. Like and the fact that they smashed up an office, you wouldn't be like, Oh, well whole you children. What are you doing? Even though they're also like in their mid twenties because they're old. yeah they're They're not in high school. And late I actually, that's not the part that made me laugh. What made me laugh was after that mission, you're out swinging, you know, and you know I know after a mission, you always get a phone call from someone and it was probably Mary Jane or something calls him.
00:45:31
Speaker
And he's just like, she's like, what'd you guys do? And he goes, we, uh, we experimented to but but and he goes, and we had a little too much pizza. I'm like, no fucking adult says that.
00:45:42
Speaker
Who the fuck says you guys are in your twenties. You would have been like, we had a couple, we had too many beers. Yeah. You would say, we ate a little too much pizza. I'm like, are you five? And then like when you first meet Harry, he buys you a child the version of that looks like your childhood bike. I'm like, the the slurs you would actually call your friend. You wouldn't be like, oh, gee, thanks. Gee, Willikers, Harry. Thanks for buying me my bike. Let's go on a bike ride to the high school. It's like, no one acts like this. This was written by the cringiest woman...
00:46:15
Speaker
that has ever written anything. And I hated it. I hate every every fucking line of dialogue in this game. I hate. It angers me. But I'll be positive for a second. The gameplay is still awesome.
00:46:28
Speaker
I love swinging around New York. i Even though the fights aren't that fun, it's like 50 people and it's just punch, punch, punch, finish, punch, punch, punch, finish. And I do not like that. I think it's i get's very... If I have to go into a base, I sneak around not because I want to do stealth. It's because I know the second the alarm goes off, going have to do that same repetitive combat over and over. And I just don't find it fun. like The big set piece at the start of the game of fighting Sandman and then doing some of this, like one of the side ones is ah ah I'm not going to spoil what happens, but it's Mysterio. And like that that stuff, that's those set pieces are kind of cool. But when it's just fighting villains and it's the same swarm, the same moves, it's very boring. But the freedom of swinging around New York as Spider-Man is still so much fun. It feels so good just to swing through that city. It's so much fun, but
00:47:26
Speaker
It's crazy because the first Spider-Man game was so good. Like genuinely amazing. Miles Brown's even an amazing game, but I hate this one. I'm like, I understand. Cause when so many people were like, oh I just didn't like the sequel. The sequel is bad. I'm like,
00:47:41
Speaker
can't be that bad. Like it it's the same way it was like with the last of us, which I was starting to get into, but when everyone, when I saw people saying like, Oh, I hated the last of us too. I'm like there's no way it's that bad. Like I'm going to go in, I'm going to enjoy it.
00:47:52
Speaker
No, I can't stand this game, but I know the power easy. The platinum is it's basically just clear the map. And so I'm going to do it because I know it's an easy one. And I did it with miles Morales and Spider-Man and Spider-Man we remastered. So I'm like, I'm going to do this platinum, but it is purely out of spite. Cause I do not like this game at all ah But then again, I'm still not that far into the main story. Maybe the main story will get better, but I don't think it will because this dialogue has been so bad that I'm just like, I'm just waiting for it to be over. I can't stand this fucking game, but i don't know. i I might be the minority. Obviously, I am in the minority because it has an 88 on OpenCritic, but man, i I do not like this game at all.
00:48:34
Speaker
Yeah, well, the player rating is an 80, so it's maybe a bit more realistic, an 8 out of 10. Yeah. The critics are higher with 88. Yeah. yeah um yeah I don't know. i think for me, it's like a 78 or 79. I don't know. Like, I think you you probably need to press further in the main story because the main story is a little better and less woke. The side story is where they crammed more of the woke crap. philerrat Every side story. Every single one has someone being like the pride of these people, the the community, the the the oh with the representation, the diversity. I'm like, oh my god
00:49:09
Speaker
don't care holy shit I hate all this modern gaming crap. yeah In 2016, when the first Spider-Man came out, things were much better back then. Although it was still still wasn't great then. but yeah yeah but That first Spider-Man game is so good. It is. And so was Miles Morales.
00:49:29
Speaker
yeah and Both the stories are so good. The gameplays are so good. like Man, that's just insane to think that. this game was such a step down in terms of the writing.
00:49:40
Speaker
That's what happens when you let women in the writing room. right i mean They need to get back in the kitchen. That's a joke. That's a joke for any female listeners. i right you You guys can write. It's okay. you know to get me Just don't write about the stupid stuff, okay? Keep it realistic, please. You're going to get me in trouble of my girlfriend.
00:49:58
Speaker
yeah We're just having some fun. We're having a laugh. It's jokes. It's jokes. But yeah. All right. Well, I'll be interested to see what you think about Spider-Man 2 when you beat the game. Yeah. if you come up a little bit.
00:50:09
Speaker
Because, yeah, I'm hoping that the i'm hoping that like the plot points are good enough that I enjoy it. Because, again, the dialogue between Harry and Peter so bad that I'm just like, this is so cringy. But I'm hoping that the actual once you know Venom appears, that's not a spoiler. It's on the freaking cover of the game. But like once that all happens, I'm hoping it gets a little better there but Yeah, I don't know.
00:50:31
Speaker
How dare you spoil that? I didn't look at the cover. You didn't get 14 inches of venom or whatever. 14 inches of venom or whatever the thing is. That's funny. Yeah, like Miles Morales, like 9 out of 10. Spider-Man 2016, 8.9 out of 10. This one, like 7.8 out 10 maybe. Yeah, it was big fall off.
00:50:46
Speaker
spiderman twenty sixteen eight point nine out of ten this one
00:50:54
Speaker
Oh, the graphics? How's the graphics looking on the Pro, though? Oh, dude, it is. It's got that ray tracing going? Yeah, because it's got the performance ray tracing or mode or whatever it is. Yeah, everything is... that It is a beautiful game. I mean, that's never been a problem with... Especially Insomniac games. Ratchet & Clank, I remember Rift Apart looked amazing. ah on the you know That was on base PS5. If they enhanced that one, that even be better, but...
00:51:19
Speaker
uh yeah all every insomniac game has always looked amazing so that's definitely not a complaint like i remember they somehow managed to do a ray tracing mode for miles morales and rift apart that was 60 fps i don't know how they did it but i remember they managed because they had like fidelity performance and then like performance pro or something what was what it was and they still had the ray tracing despite it being in the high frame rate. It was, so I don't know how they do it, but Insomniac is very good with that kind of stuff. So definitely no complaints there.
00:51:54
Speaker
Yeah. Let's see. I'm looking. What what engine do they use? They have a proprietary in-house engine, often referred as insomniac engine. OK. OK. Yeah. So they know how that's why. Yeah. yeah So they're not using Unreal or any of that stuff. So, yeah, their engine, whatever they have is is optimized pretty well and they know how to work it well. So, yeah, definitely. Because, yeah, they always have very good technical performance, good draw distance and all that. So that's good. They they do that well.
00:52:20
Speaker
Yeah, dude, just going up, like sitting on top of a tall building and overlooking like the skyline of New York. It looks so good. It's incredible how good that game looks. Yeah, I'm excited for ah Marvel's Wolverine. Maybe and there'll be a mission in Marvel's Wolverine where you, you know, Logan has to play as a bouncer and play as security for like a drag queen event. That'd be cool.
00:52:42
Speaker
Sweet, you know, make sure that nobody's causing problems. and You stop some protesters who are. Oh, man. Yeah. Yeah, did you see that um they someone, I guess from Insomniac or something, said like they want to show more of it before they put the game up for pre-order? So them saying that makes me think that people were not impressed by that trailer they showed. Because I remember after that trailer, I was just like...
00:53:07
Speaker
It does look bad. I don't think I even watched the trailer. Did I? Was it at an event? ah It must have been at their last whatever state of play. Because i do... Yeah, they had a trailer where it showed... That's not even memorable because I'm forgetting it. Yeah, it it showed very brief snippets. And what they showed off was the fact that... Oh, yeah.
00:53:25
Speaker
Because, yeah, you like... There's part where he's riding a motorcycle. And then I remember there's a part where he's cutting people up. And it was showing a lot of blood. And I'm like, they're banking on the violence for this game, which... I think because there was that Raven Wolverine game that came out at the same time as like Origins, which is a phenomenal, phenomenal game. But I remember a lot of people talked about how violent it was, so I'm wondering if they took the wrong lessons from that game. like We just need to make this game violent and brutal. It's like, no, you need to make it good. But I remember, that yeah, because they didn't show like any extended gameplay. They just showed like brief...
00:53:59
Speaker
like little here in their action pieces and, and it did not impress me. So I think they're going to to show off some more. And I think I must not have been in the minority saying that because if they're saying like, we're not up putting it up for pre-order until we show more, I think it's not getting the best reception right now. it must not be. Yeah.
00:54:19
Speaker
I'm hoping it's good because I love, again, I love Insomniac other than this game. And I want Wolverine to be awesome. so Because I remember before I started playing this game, I made the proclamation of I think Insomniac is Sony's best studio. And after this

Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon Review

00:54:36
Speaker
game, I'm like, maybe not. don't know. Maybe not.
00:54:41
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, maybe not. All right. So that's Spider-Man 2. Are you satisfied with that? or I'm not satisfied with that, but we can move on. You ready to move on? All right. I will get into my final game. That was your final game, I believe. Yes, sir. My final game that I'm playing is Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon. If you could do a timestamp there, that would be amazing. Oh, yes, sir.
00:55:08
Speaker
Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon. Have you heard of this one, Hodge? Have you seen this at all? It's probably not a Hodge game. So this is an Elder Scrolls-like game, like ah you know like a Skyrim-like game, basically. Came out recently, I want to say in the last year or two.
00:55:24
Speaker
um It's by a smaller team, but it's it's really awesome. I'm playing it on the PlayStation 5 Professional, and it looks great. Very Elder Scrolls-like. It's first or third person, but they recommend first person. um They even say that the third person like is something that they added later, so not everything is perfectly designed or optimized for it. But it is available, and it seems to work fine. But I prefer the first person. So very much Skyrim-like. You get to choose your...
00:55:51
Speaker
your build however you want. You use a sword. As you're using your sword, your sword skill goes up. You use magic. As you're you know using magic, your magic skill goes up, and so does your damage. You use lockpicks, your stealth skill goes up, your lock skill goes up, etc. so like you at you You gain skill by playing, which is cool. But there's also levels, and every time you level up, you know you you get to put points into traits and stuff. like You get to raise your strength or your endurance and stuff like that, and that boosts your skills.
00:56:20
Speaker
And then there's also skill trees. So the character that I'm doing is pretty cool. um i have I have a sorcery build, which is magic, right? And I have a summoner.
00:56:32
Speaker
So my dude summons like... people that fight with you. like You can summon like skeletons and like monsters and stuff that will fight with you and like attack the enemies. So I usually roll around with like four or five monster enemies, ah or monster allies rather, with me that I can sic on the enemies. But I'm not just sitting back while they do that. While they're running around with me helping me fight, I also have a sword in one hand and I'm shooting fire at people with my left hand too. So I'm running in there hacking people with the sword, shooting fire at people while my five minions are, you know, protecting me. Anytime I get attacked, they attack people. Anytime I attack someone, they'll attack the same target. Like, they do their thing, right? So it's pretty cool. The combat is fun.
00:57:15
Speaker
um The loot and everything is is pretty cool. It's very Skyrim-like. The story is pretty cool. So the story is like it takes place on this island. it's It's based on like the myth of like King Arthur kind of in the round table. So like there's this there's this weird plague thing that they call the weirdness, which is ah approaching this island and it's causing all these problems. And you have to figure out what the problem is. and And there's this thing I don't want to spoil anything too much, but there's this thing where like King Arthur ah somehow but a part of King Arthur's soul.
00:57:49
Speaker
becomes interconnected with you and uh you know he's trying to come back and like save the day kind of um so and there's all these different factions and tribes and stuff that you got you've got the the remnants of what's left of camelot uh versus like the tribes and bandits and all this stuff and it's pretty cool man and you make a lot of choices um you get to choose like what side to to you know is gonna prevail in certain events and things. And it's not bad at all, honestly. I'm having fun with it. I picked it up on a nice little sale on the PlayStation. i
00:58:19
Speaker
I got it for like $27 with all the DLC, too. lock more really read Lockmort loves this game. He really recommended it. It's kind of like an indie... I don't want to say it's an indie because it's not like...
00:58:32
Speaker
It has a decent budget. Like the graphics are solid. um You know, it's a big open world. It's a big game. It's expansive. lot of systems, full voice acting, good voice acting, too, like ah like good actors. um Yeah, and everything's good. It hasn't been too buggy at all. I might have experienced one or two bugs, but not bad. And yeah, it's been solid. But I would say it's just like a smaller studio, smaller tier Elder Scrolls experience. And i am enjoying it so far.
00:58:58
Speaker
Yeah, I'm looking at it Yeah, I mean, like it does say that it's listed as an indie game because it it was published by Awaken Realms. I don't know who that Yeah, I haven't heard of them. ah And then developed by... um quest line. So, yeah, I don't know. But I didn't realize yeah this game is three years old already, so I didn't i i had hadn't heard of this one. But, yeah, it's gorgeous. I see a lot and when I'm looking at it, a lot of things are comparing it to Skyrim, so that that makes yeah make sense. But, yeah, it's ah it's a gorgeous looking game, especially, I mean, only three years old. It's not like it's ancient, but...
00:59:34
Speaker
ah it Yeah, it looks interesting, but um what was going to say? Oh, I was have' popped up a villain in the images, and she's wearing a lot of, well, I should say a lot. She's wearing very little clothes, and I was like, ah, yes, the Gooner character. yes We like that. We like that. new There's this really cool collector's edition that I pull. It has this really cool stack. For the game? Yeah.
00:59:59
Speaker
Tainted Grail collector's edition. Yeah, it has this really cool statue. Oh, yeah. That is cool. That's dope. With the map and everything. yeah I like that.
01:00:12
Speaker
Yeah, that's pretty sweet. Yeah, this game's pretty cool, man. I'm impressed with it. You know, it's it's a small team. Indie-ish, I guess. But yeah, like I think they did a great job. It is very much Elder Scrolls inspired. umm You know, very much Elder Scrolls. I was actually going to say this looks like a Lockmore game. And the when you said Lock it, i recommend it. I'm like, that makes sense. Yeah, yeah.
01:00:34
Speaker
Exactly. So there's like three or four big you know zones, big maps. um And I have just finished the first one. I'm like 15 hours in and I'm level 24. And I just finally left like the first map, the first area, like the first act, if you will. And I think there's three or four of them. So it's pretty cool.
01:00:50
Speaker
I like it. So Tainted Grail, the fall of Avalon. That is the ah the last game and the main game really that I'm playing. Yeah. along the file So you say you just basically left like the first. Is it one where it's like you're loving it so much that you feel OK leaving it at that time? Or did it feel like you was dragging and then you finally got to leave it?
01:01:10
Speaker
i i did the completionist thing. I basically did all of the quests for the first area. Like I did all the side quests and everything. So ah yeah, no, it's good. It's, this is one of those games, you know, some games have that one more thing aspect where like you have a hard time logging off for the day. Cause you're like, Oh, well let me just go do one more thing. Let me just go turn this in. Let me just go kill this guy real quick. Finish this quest real quick. This is one of those types of games where it's kind of hard to log off sometimes. Cause you're like, Oh, let me just do one more thing.
01:01:39
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. i' was pretty i I love I love a game like that. That's just like, all right, let me just finish this. All right. Wait, wait, I got to finish this. No, wait, wait, wait. Let me go finish this. oh yeah i love game I will say that this game also does. I i think this game also does start a little bit slow, um like the intro, ah like the beginner quest where you're breaking out of prison because, of course, you are. is a little bit a little bit slow and boring, and like the the intro part is a bit slow and boring. But once you get out to the open world and stuff, and you get to pick whatever weapons you want and use and start taking on a couple quests, it it really becomes awesome. And yeah, I really i like it, man. If you are a fan of Elder Scrolls, which I don't think you are, hodge you haven't really played much of them, but you didn't like Skyrim, so... But if you are if you out there the audience, if you're an Elder Scrolls person and you're looking for an experience like that, because you know we're not going to get Elder Scrolls VI for two, three more years, honestly. Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon, good choice. I recommend it. Especially if you want, you know, you can wait for it to go on sale again. I'm sure it will.
01:02:39
Speaker
There you go. It's on Steam. It's on PlayStation. um I think...
01:02:45
Speaker
You muted yourself. I don't know why, but you muted yourself. Oh, crap. What was last thing I said? ah You only muted yourself for like a sentence or two. So I'm not. All right. Well, yeah. Anyways, check out Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon. It's on PlayStation Steam. I think it it might be on Xbox to go check it out. There you go.
01:03:03
Speaker
So um even though since we lost Sean, he had a surprise. i don't know what the surprise is. His surprise was that his power is going to go out, I guess. um yeah So before we wrap up, obviously, ah the one thing I'm not going to spoil all of Sean's games because he still may want to talk about them next wrap up.
01:03:20
Speaker
But the one I am very curious to hear about him hear from him about is poke Pokemon Pocopia. I will spoil that that was on his list, and I'm very curious to hear what he has to say about this because apparently people are loving it. So so I really am very curious to hear about that. But with the exception of Resident Evil Requiem, since we did a spoiler cast, I just want to ask what of these games of March was your favorite that you've played that you played or are playing, I should say?
01:03:48
Speaker
ah You know, I'm going to go with Tainted Girlfall of Avalon so far. Like I just said, the game's really hooked me so far. It does have that catchy one more thing where, like, seriously, like, it is hard to log off sometimes. I'm just like, ah, let me just go kill this dude real quick. oh Let me just turn in this quest. You know, I might as well just teleport over here and turn this in. Yeah. You know, yeah, that stuff.
01:04:10
Speaker
Nice. so I'm going to go with that. Yeah. i like yeah Pokemon Fire Red. Again, obviously we talked about Pokemon for almost a half hour on this episode. I absolutely i mean, i've I've loved this game since I was a kid. I'm so happy that I finally got to experience this Game Boy Advance version of the game. I absolutely love Pokemon Red and Yellow. I wish they had Yellow on it, but that's obviously not one. But Red and Yellow were my favorite growing up as well Silver. So replaying Fire Red has been just an absolute blast. I love... playing Pokemon. It makes me feel like a kid again. So that's probably my, my, my favorite of this. So yeah.
01:04:48
Speaker
yeah So i this was a shorter episode because we lost Sean, but I hope people me enjoyed it. Yeah, let me, i I have something I wanted to do here. I'd mention that ah on these episodes where we have just the ah the wrap up here, that we should have like a random fun topic that we do. So I thought

Nostalgia & Fast Food Favorites

01:05:05
Speaker
this would be fun, Hodge, since you and I are both people who can enjoy some some fast food from time to time, are we not? Oh, yeah. Yeah, Sean doesn't eat fast food. bryce yeah Why don't we, why don't you and I pick our top three, should we do five or three, best fast food out there? What do you think?
01:05:24
Speaker
We can do, I mean, I could do 20, but. All right, let's do five. Top five. We'll do five. All right. All right. All right. So let's do our top five. And this is off the top because we did not plan for this. yeah But what what would you say is your number? Should we start at one?
01:05:42
Speaker
I might have because I don't know if I could think of like five and four. In order, yeah. I mean, we don't even order them I guess, really. We don't have to order. What's your favorite fast food? i got Well, I have to say this because it's one that I i can't get, so it has like such ah a shining appeal to me, and that's Whataburger. Portillo's?
01:06:02
Speaker
Oh. Oh, I just, wo tillo Oh, port I do love portillo's, but no, there's actually one here in Davenport. So I can get it even if I'm not in Chicago, but ah no, what a burger. I, I, have i buy I, actually have a ah a bottle of spicy ketchup, what a burger, spicy ketchup in my fridge because I love that. guy What a burger. But ah yeah, I got it. I got it.
01:06:25
Speaker
Every other week, probably when I was living down in Texas, I ate it somewhat even horrible for you, but their food, I absolutely love Whataburger. So I think that's probably my favorite, like fast food joint. i And it's mostly, I got to it's probably because of but that little bit of, I can't have it. So it's like, Oh, Whataburger, I love you that kind of thing. But yeah, you're muted again.
01:06:48
Speaker
i don't know why are things muting you? what the hell is muting me i don't understand that's weird yeah um what is uh what do you like to get at what a burger because i go there sometimes and it's just like it's okay but i've never been like super wowed yeah i don't know one down the street from me not rub it in um mean yeah man uh well i love their chocolate shake but um i gotta remember what it's called like yeah i do like they have that uh sweet and spicy bacon burger it's pretty good that's very good Um, let's see. What a burger. Can I just look at the menu? Are you going to this stupid order online? Bullshit. It's hate that. I, that is one of my biggest pet peeves of restaurant where it's like, you can't look at the menu unless you're placing a yeah order. Like just post your menu and let me look at it. I'm not ordering.
01:07:37
Speaker
yeah um I can't remember what it was. It was like, it was kind of like a Frisco melt type one. Oh yeah. The patty melt.
01:07:47
Speaker
Yeah, the patty melt. i love Yeah, love that. Patty melt's pretty good. Okay. Yeah. That's probably. All right. So what a burger. that's your That's your top. If we're talking about ones that you miss because you can't get anymore, I have to give a shout out to Rally's or Checkers and that I really miss from Columbus. And it's mostly their fries. I absolutely love their fries. Every time you go there, always got fresh Hot out of the fryer, delicious seasoned peppery you know fries, and they're amazing.
01:08:18
Speaker
The burgers were just, you know, burgers were okay. They weren't amazing. But the fries, dude, the fries were amazing. They also had great apple pies that were like baked and like cinnamon blasted, and those were solid too. um But, yeah, I would always get a big Buford, extra onion because I love onion, a large fry, like the biggest fry they have, and then get like an apple pie. Oh, yeah. Dude, I remember โ€“ I haven't had checkers since college because there there's one over by where I went to school. And I remember getting a large fry. and like, you know, obviously know how they usually come in like that fry-shaped, you know, thing at most restaurants. The large fry came in a large cup.
01:08:56
Speaker
And was just like, there's so many fries. Yeah. Did you like them? Were they good? Yeah, they're good. I don't think โ€“ I wouldn't list checkers in my like top, but but it's definitely so not horrible. i it's It's good, but it's not in my top. but so that's I haven't had it since probably college. so That tells me one of two things is probably the case. One, maybe you're not a huge seasoned fry guy, maybe. Or two, you might have not got like some really good hot and fresh fries that day. Because when you get the hot and fresh ones, if you're a seasoned fry fan, oh my God, those things are like orgasmic, bro. It's like Trump out there. I'm going to come, Trump.
01:09:37
Speaker
um I got to say like the the worst fries I will that I've ever had from a place is In-N-Out. I'm sorry. In-N-Out fries are not good. Their burgers. Great. I love their burger. But yeah, though those fries are horrible. Anyone who tells me differently, I yeah it's like people tell me Diet Coke is better. No, it's not. You're you're insane.
01:09:57
Speaker
Well, yeah, that's that's why people get the animal style fries because they're not good. You got to add flavor to them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you know, I have a newfound respect and appreciation for In-N-Out. um I used to, I remember that, you know, you always heard like, In-N-Out's the best. In-N-Out is so good. Everyone else suck it. In-N-Out's so good. And I went out to Vegas, you know, the first time I ever had In-N-Out. There's one in Vegas, right? Yeah, that's right, Kitty. And ah yeah, and I tried In-N-Out and I was like, what? This isn't that good. Like this is mid, what the hell? um But I have a newfound appreciation. The thing about In-N-Out that I've discovered
01:10:32
Speaker
is that people love In-N-Out not because it's the best ever, but because it's cheap. It's affordable. It's it's like McDonald's, but actual like quality McDonald's. like You get a double-double combo, and it's like, what, $9 or something? It's not that expensive, but it's actually pretty. It's way better than McDonald's. It's good. um So, yeah, like you get a double-double. It's great.
01:10:53
Speaker
I like In-N-Out now. yeah I understand it now. Yeah, well, it's also good because obviously it's part of the reason it's got to be cheap is because their menu is like four things. Like it's such a small menu that that's all they're making. So that's all they have. That's all the ingredients they need. And so they're probably able to get it so much cheaper and sell it so much cheaper because of that. So. True.
01:11:14
Speaker
Yeah. It's โ€“ yeah, because they โ€“ yeah, I'm pretty sure their menu โ€“ it's the same with like Raising Cane's. Their menu is literally like five things. And so it's the same shit. It's just different sizes or different maybe toppings. Like that's really all it is. So yeah. That's it's probably โ€“ Sorry, yeah. I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of my S tier favorite fast food places, and that's Taco Bell. I love Taco Bell. I go to Taco Bell two, three times a month, maybe more sometimes. The thing I love about Taco Bell is not only is the food amazing, but the value, the price. You use that Taco Bell app, man, at least around here, they got their custom box deal. It's $5.29 here. And you know you could get like a cheesy crunch.
01:11:58
Speaker
They actually just changed it. They actually just downgraded this meal. Literally yesterday I discovered this. It used to be it used to be you could get a cheesy gordita crunch, a beefy five-layer burrito, a you know cinnamon twist or a fiesta potatoes is what I like to get, ah and a drink for like $5.29, which is amazing.
01:12:17
Speaker
Literally amazing because like the cheesy gordita crunch is that much on its own. Right. Yeah. Now they changed it. So now it's the cheesy gordita crunch and a Doritos Locos taco. You can't get the five layer burrito anymore, but that's still good um with the Fiesta potatoes in the drink. So, but i mean, you can't beat that. A full meal for five bucks.
01:12:33
Speaker
i a Great deal. Yeah. I didn't know they still did the Dorito Loco taco. thought they got rid of that for some reason. They do here. Maybe yours doesn't. I'm not sure. Yeah. Well, they used to have the fire one, the fiery Dorito Loco. That one was so good, and they got rid of that one for some reason. I remember going to get one. the we only have We only have nacho now. I'm like, no! Why?
01:12:52
Speaker
Why? But ah no, Taco Bell is a great choice. That was the one that I used to only like when I was like piss drunk in college. But eventually I just started getting it. I'm like, love this shit, man. It's so good. But um the one thing that's super underrated, I was going to actually even ask you about this so I can say with Taco Bell, their breakfast crunch wrap.
01:13:15
Speaker
So good. So good. i have Which one do you get? I personally get sausage, but I've had their steak one, which is also absolutely phenomenal. But yeah, I like the steak. I like the sausage too. I love the steak, egg and cheese, ah but you know breakfast or AM crunch wrap. Yeah, it's delicious, dude. with that Unfortunately, I can't get it anymore because the one near me, they stopped serving breakfast for some reason. i was pissed. Lame. I actually woke up early one day. For me, it's early. Pathetically enough, I guess, because you get up early anyway, like a normal adult.
01:13:45
Speaker
But I actually woke up early and I went up to Taco Bell. I didn't know that they did. And I was like, yeah, let me get a breakfast crunch wrap, steak, egg and cheese. And they're like, uh, yeah, sorry, man. We don't serve breakfast anymore. I was like, what?
01:13:57
Speaker
That's damn it. Yeah, that was unfortunate. Yeah. the Speaking also of breakfast, i don't get McDonald's ever except for breakfast because their breakfast, I love like the McMuffin or even their burritos. Like they get the two burrito deal thing and that is yeah really good too. but Oh, that's good, but man, yeah that stuff gives you the shits big time. Big time. you will you Yeah, for real. People say Taco Bell does. McDonald's really does, I'm telling you. But anyway, yeah, yeah they do have great. I love the ah the McMuffin, sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffin. It's just a classic. It's so good.
01:14:35
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. i Are you a McMuffin or a McGriddles guy? I prefer the McMuffin, but I don't think that's a controversial statement. Most people like the McGriddle. I did not know that that was like the prefer. Again, i I like the McGriddle, but I just like the McMuffin better. Yeah. Right here, sir. You and I.
01:14:51
Speaker
Shake your hand. I agree. The McMuffin is better. i think it tastes better. You don't need fricking syrupy pancake when you already have delicious sausage, egg, and cheese. yeah The McMuffin is it's buttery. It's crispy. It holds it all together. It's delicious. um i think the i think I do think the McGriddles is good. It's not like it's bad, but I just think it's over. You don't need that extra flavor.
01:15:12
Speaker
um I think it actually is a little bit detracting from it. I'd rather have that muffin holding it together, personally. Another underrated fast food breakfast. I mean, fast in general, this is also one of the goats is Chick-fil-A, but their breakfast um chicken hash brown burrito.
01:15:30
Speaker
So good. it's It's a breakfast burrito that they have. It is amazing. I was debating getting it this morning, but I didn't. I've never had their breakfast. i'll have to do that sometime. It's so good. Yeah. they So they can obviously do like a combo where it comes with the side and a drink. And normally comes with little the little hash brown crown, like the crowns I think is what they're called, like the circular ones. But you can alternate it for a ah like ah fruit parfait thing, and that is really good. It's just fruit and yogurt. And you can get it with either granola or cookie.
01:16:03
Speaker
I get it with the cookie just because I think โ€“ their granola, I just don't think it's that good. I've had them both. But they the cookie, it's basically a ground-up Oreo on it, and that is so good. So I'll get the i'll get that basically, that chicken burrito with a parfait and an orange juice because I'm not a huge coffee guy. So I'll get that. And that breakfast, it's so good.
01:16:27
Speaker
I'd suggest any day. Shout out to Chick-fil-A. That's another top five fast food place, I would say. yeah um I love ah for on the lunch and dinner side of things. um I love getting their ah spicy chicken deluxe. you know It's amazing. It's got that ah with the Colby Jack cheese on it with the tomato and lettuce. And then I add mayonnaise, of course. got to have something on there to moisten it up. kind of remember the sandwich they had just recently that i wanted to try. I can't remember what is. Maybe.
01:16:55
Speaker
Yes, I usually get the spicy chicken deluxe combo with ah waffle fries and a drink. And I like their frosted coffee, by the way, is quite good if you're a coffee fan.
01:17:05
Speaker
And then I like to also get the mac and cheese on the side side of because they have great macaroni and cheese. Yeah, I just looked it up. The one that's the the temporary sandwich they have right now is a jalapeno ranch chicken club. And that sounds really good. I might have to try that.
01:17:23
Speaker
I might have to get that today. That sounds really good. yeah Yeah. I saw that they started doing, so I don't know. Have you ever had their blended lemonade that they have?
01:17:34
Speaker
Yeah. the The frosted lemonade. Yeah. The frosted lemonade. Yeah. Yeah. It's good. Apparently they do that with every drink now. So I need to try that with like a Coke or something. Like i yeah yeah, apparently they just started doing that where it's not just the lemonade that they blend anymore. They can do with any drink. So I'm like, I'm going to have to try that at some point.
01:17:51
Speaker
but Yeah, that'd be cool. Even though I'm trying to get healthier, but now that's that's a cheat meal right there. Yeah. All right. And then I'll just say two other places that I love. And these aren't fast food places per se. It's like fast casual, if you will. yeah But two places that I absolutely love going to are Wingstop.
01:18:10
Speaker
I absolutely I love Wingstop. Shout out to their original hot. It's like the best wing flavor ever, in my opinion. It's so good. I wish they sold it. If they sold it in stores, I would you know i make my own wings. Sometimes I would use their sauce. Yeah.
01:18:24
Speaker
And then I want another shout out to Jersey Mike's subs. So good. So good. Oh, dude. Jersey Mike's. I started getting, um instead of getting a sandwich, I get them as a bowl and it's just as good. Like it's, I don't know, probably 500 calories less or something to not have that bread. And yeah, basically you still get it Mike's way in the bowl and they just, you just mix it up and you're basically eating it like a burrito bowl kind of thing, but it's a sandwich. And, That is that's that's the go to right there of doing that. And obviously my favorite there is the original 13, the original Italian, because that thing is God tier. But they they all their sandwiches are good. Jersey Mike's is incredible. I think it's my third or fourth favorite sandwich place. I'd have to say is third or fourth. Oh, what's the hierarchy?
01:19:13
Speaker
ah Number one is Capriati's. It's not a huge chain, but they they are around. I know there used to be one in Austin. I think it closed, but ah it's that place is by far my favorite. And then Potbelly is second, which is โ€“ that's also national, but there's not one out here in Iowa. So that's one I have to get when I go back home to Chicago because there's like three around my parents' house. But I know it's โ€“ because I know they're all over, but for some reason there's just not a Potbelly out here.
01:19:41
Speaker
And then, um yeah, I think Jersey would probably be third behind those. But, yeah, Jersey might go. Yeah, Jersey is โ€“ it's so good. Yeah, my order when I go to Jersey Mike's is I like to do their ah big kahuna cheese steak.
01:19:57
Speaker
ah And I do the with a chipotle mayo on the side. um That's the plate. And you can could just dip it in a little bit. um That also keeps the sandwich dry, which is nice. And it makes it better if you want to reheat. Because sometimes I only eat like because it's big. If you get the big one, it's huge. Sometimes I only eat like half.
01:20:15
Speaker
And I'll save the other half for later. I do that a lot. you have the mayo on the side, it makes it way easier to do that. Yeah. Yeah, I'll do that. you get the giant because those things are you know huge, and then you eat half of it and then save the other half for later.
01:20:28
Speaker
Yeah. At least I try to. but And then shout out to Chippers, and that's it. Oh, yeah. Chippers, a.k.a. Chipotle, for those who don't. no yeah Even though ah I love Chipotle, but Moe's is my favorite like of those fast food type things.
01:20:43
Speaker
build your own bowl type place because they have the salsa bar, which is amazing. So I love it. It's great. Love. We don't have it here though. Oh, it's such we had it in Columbus. I had it a couple of times when I was in Columbus and it was great, but yeah, we don't have it down here. Sadly. There's one there's in Austin. There's a place, i think it's called free birds. That's also like ah a, a Chipotle type place. And that place was also really good. I got that. I got that a bunch when I was,
01:21:11
Speaker
living down there so i don't know if that's like a texas chain or if it's just one that's there's not that many or maybe it's i don't think it's the only one though it definitely looked kind of it looked like a franchise type place but free birds was was also really really good but all right yeah well hodge did you want to give a shout out to any last fast food places before we get on out Um, and like I said, Raising Cane's earlier, that place is phenomenal, but I just love the sauce. The chicken is very mid, but the sauce is, is just, that's the, that's the make or break with anyone. If you don't like the Raising Cane sauce, you don't like Raising Cane's, but if you do love it, then it's like the greatest place ever.
01:21:50
Speaker
yeah but Their Texas toast is great. And the sauce is great. The fries are mid, uh, the chicken is kind of mid and the coleslaw is terrible. It has zero flavor.
01:22:01
Speaker
i don't mind the coleslaw, but it's definitely not the best coleslaw I've had. it's But I don't mind it because at least it's not like the really dry cabbage-y type coleslaw because that kind of coleslaw sucks. It has a good consistency, but yeah, I yeah i could i can understand the the flavor. not Every time I've had it, it literally has like no flavor at all.
01:22:19
Speaker
Like that's one thing I will say positive about KFC. KFC sucks now. Like I never go. It's horrible now. But they do have good coleslaw though, like good flavor coleslaw. yeah Yeah, i haven't have k i haven't had k ah KFC in literally decades. it's I don't know the last time I've i've had KFC.
01:22:36
Speaker
Yeah, it used to be good 15, 20 years ago. It's not anymore. so They even closed the one down. But anyway, all right. Well, I say we go around and give our final thoughts, huh?
01:22:47
Speaker
What are your final thoughts, sir? Rest in peace, Sean. I can't believe the CIA finally got you. but Yeah, this is, I always, i love this, ah as we're calling it, the monthly wrap up. i I think this is the best way of doing what we've been playing rather than three weeks row being like, still playing this. So doing a monthly wrap up is definitely the way to go. So I'm, I love doing this. um It's a bummer. where I'm very, I'm looking forward to hearing Sean talk about Pocopoeia because I really want to know more about that game because it looked fun. Just doesn't look like the game I'd want to sink so many hours into. So I'm very curious about that, but.
01:23:24
Speaker
Love talking video games with you and Sean when he's alive, but yeah, that's all I got. Yeah, I wanted to hear what Sean was going to say about and MLB The Show as well. Because I was excited to play this game. And then like now I don't know that I'm going to play it. Because I got busy with other stuff. One of my friends that I was talking about playing it with, he I don't think he's going to get it out.
01:23:45
Speaker
And the reviews are actually really bad for this game. When I looked, I was surprised. like They were like in the 60s. And the user reviews were even lower. I think the user reviews were like 4 out of 10. And people were saying like that this is just not a good entry. And people are upset.
01:24:00
Speaker
Well, so a four out of i hold off a four out of ten is a Sean Mason ten. So there you go. he might like it. But then he's also playing MVP baseball. Spoiler alerts. So which it leads me to think that maybe he wasn't feeling the show. So wanted something different. Who knows? We'll see.
01:24:17
Speaker
Maybe we'll see in the future. All right, guys. Well, my final thoughts are shout out to you. Shout out to fast food. Shout out to Taco Bell for still providing great value in this economy. I love that I can go and spend $5 and get a full meal still and be happy.
01:24:32
Speaker
yeah ah All right. This has been Games Over Plastic, episode number 60. We're going to go and get out of here. Have a great day, everyone. Goodbye. Bye. Funny quip.
01:24:44
Speaker
Quip, quip, quip.
01:24:48
Speaker
Quip.
