Speaker: First of all, the man, the myth, the legend Hodge. are you doing, sir? I'm doing good. Just chilling. I got off call, so I'm just relaxing and enjoying the weekend, and I'm excited to talk video games with you boys. How are you doing?
Speaker: Doing good. Doing good. You got your boy over there from ah Claire Obscure. What was his name again? I forget his name. Esquire? Esquire. Yeah, he was he was funny, dude. Monami. Monami. That was a great game.
Speaker: Yeah, it was. Yeah. Alright, and then last but not least, the man in the CIA black site down here hardwired again, Sean Mason, how you doing?
Speaker: Good, I'm doing alright. Gonna talk some video games with you guys, talking about a some of our favorite video game trilogies of all time. I am a little upset though, it's already August 8th and I'm like just sitting around thinking like, oh my god, summer's almost over.
Speaker: What did I do? i did nothing! My buddy just started ah this week. It was his first week. That's insane to me. Yeah, he's a football coach, too, so I'm not going to see him for like three months. Yeah.
Speaker: This summer, you know, I hate summer. i can't see I can't wait for it to end, but it does seem like it's gone by really quick, though. It really does. yeah Even though like I've been super busy and I've hated it, it's flown by, though. so I do feel for you, Sean.
Speaker: Going back to work sucks. Yeah, yeah there's there's this is ah funny meme that i always see. It's like, once june like the last day of school in June, it's like, I can do anything! Then July, 4th of July, it's like, yeah, this is great. and then August says, I've done nothing! What am I doing with my life? That's funny.
Speaker: You played a lot of games. Sean, I remember a while back, I don't remember when it was, but you made like some kind of better promise that you were going to get so many Platinums, like 50 Platinums. Do you remember this? Did you do it? No, then life happens.
Speaker: Then life happens. That's true, life did happen. Yeah. Yeah, we'll give you a pass. You had stuff happen. How many do you know how many Platinums you have gotten, though? No, got I'll look. Speaker: With all that being said, like Sean mentioned, today's topic, or Hajj, one of you mentioned it, we're going to be ranking our favorite. Oh, we have a cat sighting. Hey, cat, how you doing? All right. All right. Anyways. So um we're going to be ranking our favorite gaming trilogies. We got 10 each and I got some honorable mentions and stuff. It's going to be a lot of fun.
Speaker: Isn't it? Oh, it is. It is boys. So let's go. Yo, chill bro. What's your problem today? Exactly. Go. down
Speaker: Alright, so he's way more vocal than usual. He must be hyped about these but these trilogies. Alright, so why don't we go ahead and get it started? Shall we? um Hodge, you want to take it away with your number 10?
Speaker: Yeah, um my number 10 is i have it at 10 Even though I love all three games, the first one is just always one that stuck out to me the most, and that is the Jak and Daxter trilogy.
Speaker: I love the first game because it's just a very classic platformer, whereas the second one turned into kind of action and adventure games. And so while I love all three games, and i i hate even though I haven't played two and three and probably since they're on PS2, but I've replayed the first one multiple times. i Absolutely love this trilogy overall. It's just the first one is the one that sticks out the most to me. So that's why I just kind of have it at 10.
Speaker: But yeah, I love the Jak and Daxter games. And i wish I wish that series didn't die and Naughty Dog didn't just become the sad person simulator. So that I wish that this could come back. But, you know, still great. So that's my number 10, Jak and Daxter.
Speaker: All right. I've never played a single Jak and Daxter game, surprisingly. You know what's so weird about the Jack and Daxter games is that in the first one, Jack is a mute. yeah speak He doesn't speak.
Speaker: Yeah, and then like when he's just suddenly talking. Yeah, they don't address it. It's just he's a mute, and then all of sudden he's just not. Yeah. I forgot about games back in the day where your character was a mute, just never said anything.
Speaker: That's still common in RPGs a lot, like the main characters. Really? Yeah. Yeah, a lot of times ah they make the main character kind of a mute so you could be like a self-insert for you, I guess. I don't know. You just make choices. And ah the Fire Emblem game that i'm playing right now, you just ste just just called Fire Emblem Game Boy, the main characters will be the character that you create is a mute.
Speaker: It doesn't speak. They speak for you. Yeah. ah the Shin Megami Tensei V that I'm playing right now. Yeah, he doesn't talk at all. And it's funny too, because they like they have these awkward pauses. Like he's going to say something. He just stands there like... Shakes his head, yeah. yeah my yeah This is me, you know. What's up I don't talk.
Speaker: ah So yeah. All right. Well, shout out to Jack and Daxter. I got nothing to add on that, unfortunately. ah Sean, you're up next. Alright, well, it wouldn't be a list without a Nickelodeon-tying type of game on my list. So, we're going to start out. Unfortunately, I can't do the Nicktoons Unite games because there's four of them. that That's a whatever they call four. I don't know. What do they call four? Qua something? quadrilogy quadrilogy yeah there's four of them so i can't unfortunately cannot do nicktoons united so uh we're gonna have to stick with a game series that i've talked about before that's nickelodeon kart racers uh one through three these games are pretty awesome probably some of the best kart racers on modern consoles better than mario kart better than uh any real kart racer other than crash team racing of course that that is the best kart racer but Yeah, Nickelodeon Curse, it just gets better at each iteration. I got the Platinum in all of them.
Speaker: Pretty low percentage, Platinum-wise. It's like 0.1% on number two and number three, and I got both of them. ah like Like Hodge mentioned last time I brought this up, yes, you can play as JoJo Siwa, which is kind of really funny, given the...
Speaker: given Given what's going on today with her or it yeah them. um Yeah, it it is. ah They are fun games. Plays the Ninja Turtles, plays Grandma Gertie, plays Gerald.
Speaker: Hey, Arnold. ah Butter Toastman. ah Powder Toastman, sorry. ah Yeah, pretty, pretty great. Pretty great game. Great cast of characters. Awesome maps. Yeah, dude. Powder Toastman. The fact that that's a character still blows my mind.
Speaker: Yeah, it is in it is hilarious because they have like the original voice acting for all the characters in the game. And they'll be driving and it they'll be yelling at each other. It's great. Oh, the Angry Beavers, they're fun to play as too.
Speaker: Yeah. Daggett. Daggett Norm. Dude, I still there's a Halloween episode of that show that is one of the funniest episodes of any television show I've ever seen. It's called like the day the world got really messed up or something like that. And it makes fun of nineteen fifty s horror movies. And it's legitimately one of the funniest episodes of any television show i've ever seen. It's me and my friends still quote it to this day. Is that the episode where they break the fourth wall and they know they're a TV show?
Speaker: There's an episode where they... you know I'm talking about? There's an episode where they know they're a TV show. And, like, they break the fourth wall and they, like, destroy the world. They they destroy the world and they they come out of... I don't know. it's not that. it's They're, like, in a black and white mansion and there's, like, these 1950s looking, like, cartoon characters. And... i But it's, like, this... Hilarious. Like, there's a butler who works at the house and he's like, I am their manservant. Manservante.
Speaker: Like, the dumbest... What a sh Angry Beavers. What a good show. it was ah It was hilarious. It was so funny. But yeah, it's great games. Great great show. yeah you can ah You can drive around ah you know various Nickelodeon worlds with them.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, again, i guys i think I said this before when you were talking about the game. is i I would love it in the fact of like I would just like doing the member berries of going to all the different maps. Like, oh my gosh, I see i remember that. I remember that. I i love Easter eggs like that.
Speaker: Right on. Right on. Good stuff. Good stuff. Would not be a Games Over Plastic episode if we didn't have some Nicktoons. Of course. Of course. Got to. Got to do it. All right. Of course, I haven't played those games, sadly. I'm going to play it when we when we get off here. I'm going hop on Nicktoons. So some racing. and My number 10. All right. My number 10. Here we go.
Speaker: It's going to be Mafia 1 through 3, the trilogy. And this is ranked number 10 for me because I've only played the first game and I played half of the third game and dropped it because I didn't like it. But the first game was great.
Speaker: And the second game is supposed to be even better. And I plan to get to it soon. It's already downloaded on the PlayStation. So. Apparently the first two games are great and the third game is a little bit divisive because it's like huge and open world and people don't like the story as much and the the world is very repetitive. That's why I dropped it. Like they have you doing the same crap over and over like Ubisoft style, honestly, but worse even. So yeah.
Speaker: Cat's freaking out, dude. All right. So, but yeah, Mafia one through three. That's going to be my pick there. Have you guys played these games at all? No.
Speaker: No, I have... Oh, sorry. i yeah I find it funny that you you rank this trilogy in your top 10, but you only played one and a half of the games. but it is ah it is a trilogy, so it is in there. There you go. i um I have the first one downloaded on my Xbox. I think it was Definitive Edition. i think it was...
Speaker: like a games with gold or something, or it's on gamepad. can't remember, but I do have a downloader and I do want to get around to it eventually because I, again, I've talked about it before. That old Godfather game is one of my favorite. It's like, well, probably is my favorite like GTA clone type game of all time.
Speaker: ah And so I would love to play this. Obviously it wouldn't be the Godfather, but like, i love that like mafia error or error, error of games. And so I think I would really enjoy it and I do want to play it eventually.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to get to two at some point. It's already downloaded, but um I don't i just keep putting it off because I'm like, I'd rather play this RPG over here. You know, you know i am. um But yeah, we've all done that. Mafia one's great. Mafia three is kind of mid, I think. um And yeah, there you go. Two is supposed to be awesome, too. So there you go. That is a trilogy. I put it at the bottom because I haven't beaten on all of them. So there you go. yeah That's actually not the only one where I haven't beaten all of them, but yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, that's kind of how are. I do what I want, Sean. I have played, in all of my things, I have played all three games, but I definitely did my ranking of, like, oh, this one has, like, one of of them is kind of weaker than the rest of the game, so it's a little lower kind of thing, so.
Speaker: But, ah anyway, my number nine, i was debating not including this one, but in the end, I was like, this trilogy is just so good, and that's the original Gears of War trilogy. The first three games where you play as Dom and all those guys, and Because obviously four and five, you don't play as them. You play new characters. And then Judgment, you play it's like, I can't. i Actually, I've never played Judgment. Isn't that a prequel of the first three, I think, or something? I can't remember exactly what Judgment is. but I played it, but I don't remember, honestly. I just know that there's a blonde dude on the cover. I to really don't remember anything about that. It was all right. Yeah, it's it's kind of like God of War Ascension. It's just a spinoff kind of game. But so but the original trilogy, it's like it's one solid story that's put together as you know it one
Speaker: And then god Gears of War 2 has one of the saddest moments in gaming history. It's like, It's incredible. But these games are so much fun. And that was back in the golden days of Xbox 360. Like, again, I know we've said it on here before, but people forget that Gears of War versus Halo was a thing. Like it was, I mean, looking back on it it's like HD DVD versus Blu-ray. It's like and there was a clear winner. But at the time, Gears of War and Halo were like huge. And yeah, Gears of War trilogy was a fun, fun. And was the co-op also at the time, that split screen co-op or online co-op. that was back in the golden age of that with games which feel like that's not a thing much anymore but yeah the gears war trilogy it's absolutely fantastic and i cannot wait for e-day that looks awesome yeah yeah good pick good pick sean you have any thoughts on that one
Speaker: Yeah, no, the Gears, that, that that that did yeah the Gears Dom story, those three games are great games. yeah I love, like, I think they each, I think each of them get better, to be honest. Like, I think one, two, then three, I think they each get progressively better. um Yeah, that moment in two, though, very, very sad moment. One of the, yeah, like you said, one of the saddest moments in gaming.
Speaker: Yeah, it was incredible, but yes, incredibly sad. Two was incredible. What a great game. Yeah. yeah All right. Sean, how about your number nine?
Speaker: All right. My number nine is little different than ah different. This might be a little little surprising for a lot of people. with Mine is the the NFL Street Volume 1, 2, and 3 games. Those NFL Street games. Those games are freaking awesome. I loved the street games. you even like that you know Even like the NBA Street, like 1 through 3, those games were great too. But I went with the NFL Street 1 through 3 because these are the games that I play the most of.
Speaker: um you know You had NFL Street 2 in particular was the one I played the most. of I had all three, but 2 in particular was great. Who was on the Honestly, I don't remember. I've never played NFL Street. I was huge into NBA Street, though. back Oh, NBA Street. went I mean, NBA Street was great, too. But yeah NFL Street was awesome. You could, like, run on the walls. You could do, like, Game Break. Remember, like, Game Breaker in the street games? were like like For, like... um
Speaker: In in the yeah NFL Street Game Breaker, you could like ah be like you would jump up like wicked wicked high up in the air and like intercept the ball or i go right through the line and just sack the QB. got NFL Street was so much fun. I just remember running on the walls, jumping off the walls, catching the ball. I remember Chad Otocinco, or at the time, Chad Johnson was on NFL Street 3. Ricky Williams was on the original NFL Street. Who was on NFL Street? I don't even remember who was on NFL Street 2. Oh, it was Jeremy Shockey. Jeremy Shockey.
Speaker: Oh my gosh. Those are some blasts from the past. But i remember like Michael Vick was like a cheat code in that game and like NFL street games. So he could play like any, you can you go put him in like any position and he was dominate.
Speaker: But yeah, NFL street. what it But yeah, NBA street was great too. um I remember the GameCube version NBA street V3. You could play as Mario, Luigi and Peach. So you can have a team with like Mario, Baron Davis, and and Peach on your You're going have Baron Davis running the point with Mario and Peach on your team. It's hilarious. And, like, they didn't fit, like, the art style. So, like, it was, like, the Mario art style, but then you'd have just, like, the and NBA street art style with them, and it just looked so weird.
Speaker: That's awesome. great Yeah, I know. Those street games. What a... Bangers. Love it. Love it. Nice. Yeah, I... i it It reminds me like Blitz also. like Whatever happened to having like fun sports games like that? I feel like it's just the EA games. It's just the Sim games. This was like EA Big. Remember the era of EA Big where they were making like these like crazy games? like ah ye Yeah, that they made like the SSX games. they made The Bigs. The Bigs was the baseball game.
Speaker: Yeah, the Biggs was great. That was post-Slugfest, the Biggs. Even NHL had like this 3v3 arcade hockey game, which was really fun. Even FIFA had a FIFA Street game.
Speaker: Yeah. And then they tried to bring back NBA Jam. They brought that back in like 08 or something. That game sucked. Oh, I loved that game. Oh, 8 NBA Jam? Yeah, that game sucked. I was never big NBA Jam. NBA Jam on Fire Edition? Yeah, dude. I played that religiously in college. Granted, me my friends would make it a drinking game. We would pregame with NBA Jam. But Kevin Durant was my guy, and he could sink threes with ease. He's heating up!
Speaker: It was, oh man, I loved, I absolutely loved that I mean, the OG Genesis one is better, but I loved the On Fire Edition, dude. That game was a sick. He's freaking Yeah, we used to play ah NFL Blitz at work when I worked with my friend at Funkoland, like I said.
Speaker: Store would be slow. We had the Dreamcast out there. We'd be playing NFL Blitz. It was great. That game was fun. Just laying people out. All i remember, all I know about but NFL Blitz is that, couldn't you like put your guy on steroids?
Speaker: Probably. I don't know. You like i go like injure people so bad, like they'd be like in crutches. and like I think that's why they probably stopped making NFL Blitz. It's because, yeah, you really can't injure people.
Speaker: Yeah, I don't remember that. I was never very good at Blitz, so I never played it then. I never played NFL Blitz. The only non-SIM sports games I ever played were the and NFL Street and NBA Street and the Mario Sports games, of course. but Yeah. um I can tell you why they don't make those games anymore is because they wouldn't make good money from those games, unfortunately, because times have just changed. It's like me, like I was so excited to go back and play college football, remember? But then I did and I was like, okay, well, I'm kind of bored now.
Speaker: Like the games that we really loved in 2008, we didn't have as much things vying for our attention back then. You know what i mean? So we just play the same stuff over and over and over. But nowadays there's so much vying for your attention. um The game has to have like stuff that they can sell you and it has to have like longevity and games like that you would just hop in and probably play for like an hour or two and then hop out. You know what i mean? like You wouldn't keep going back to it regularly.
Speaker: um I don't think so. I think that's why they don't make them. You know, with Madden, they can infinitely monetize that with the stupid packs and all the other bullshit that they do. Yeah, that's fair. And people want to play like a real sim experience, you know, with ah like sim out full seasons and like create their my player. You know what i mean?
Speaker: Yeah. My player is not sim. Trust me. oh Yeah. Road to glory, whatever they call it in the football games. Yeah. So I think that's why they don't make those games, but they're doing crazy taxi. That's kind of the same, right? They're bringing crazy taxi back. It's a fun arcade experience. I legit can't wait for that game. It's going to be awesome.
Speaker: Crazy taxi. That is going to be fun. All right. ah Moving on. My number nine. Okay. This is for you, Sean. This is for you. Some Weebery for you. ah Might be the only Weebery on my list.
Speaker: Final Fantasy XIII, the trilogy, Sean. That's right. Now, the first game was mid, in my opinion. I think you like it. i think I think it's great. I didn't like the first game. It was a hallway simulator. It had a very confusing... It had a very...
Speaker: Final Fantasy 7? Remake is a the the original remake that is a hallway simulator and I love it. I love the game, but I will tell you right now that is a lot of saw hallways in that game. Yeah. Well, here's where they really got lost me the most. It wasn't just the hallway simulator. The story was also super convoluted and confusing in the first game. It's like the fallacy and the Lacy and there's all this weird shit happening. And I'm like, what are they talking about, dude? It was a bit confusing. ah It makes more sense in the second and third game as you're going. But yeah, I just i wasn't getting hooked by the story and I wasn't getting hooked. But that's not why we're here to talk, though. This isn't supposed to be negative. ah I do love the trilogy because the second game is one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy XIII 2 is incredible. They fixed all the issues I had with it. um They made it a lot more open world. It's not open world, but it's got more explorable, like open zones that you can explore. They also added like a monster collection thing, which I love, like Pokemon style. You could like collect monsters and then they would fight with you, which was super sweet. That was very fun.
Speaker: The story was great, I thought. Although it would have been cool if lightning was in it more because you play as her sister instead, but it's still three was cool. And then, and then they did something completely different with part three. It was kind of like an action hack and slash game, which is lightning, which was fun to lightning returns. ah But yeah, final fantasy 13, I think very underrated ah trilogy. because People completely write all, a lot of people completely write off that series because they didn't like the first game or whatever.
Speaker: um And they didn't even play the second and third, but I think, yeah, final fantasy 13 trilogy, underrated good trilogy. I like it. I approve.
Speaker: I approve, Sean. This is one of the few Final Fantasy, well, not few. I haven't played a lot of Final Fantasy, but this is like one of those fun. This was during that era of I've definitely am not playing Final Fantasy because I played on like PS2 or PS1 and then the whole PS2, like PS3 era of a Final Fantasy. I didn't touch them, so I never knew anything about the really 13th.
Speaker: I do know that there was like 13-2 and all that, though. Yeah, 13-2 is awesome. Love it. Sean, what say you about the 13 trilogy? I'll be talking about this in a little bit. so Okay, god good good, good, good. All right.
Speaker: Well, let's move on then. Haj, what is your number eight, sir? All right. This one I have ranked, like I guess, technically low, not high. I don't know. At eight. Because ah two of the games are amazing. And then the third one, it was just kind of okay. And I actually ended up falling off of it. But the first two are so good that I had to include it. And that is Dead Space.
Speaker: The first two Dead Space games, obviously I played the remake. I didn't play the OG, which I've gushed about constantly. But then I went back and played the OG Dead Space 2. And even though there is a little bit jank, not too much, it is still an amazing game. And then the third one, it just it just changed genres. It wasn't really a horror game anymore. It was like an action game. And it just it just lost it with the third one. But It still wasn't terrible. to play you know The story was good. I just fell off it because I was like, I'm just not digging this gameplay. But those first two are so good. It's just such a great overall story that I've, obviously, I'm insanely late to the series. I think I've played this
Speaker: 2024, I think is when I played through these games, but i absolutely love them. And I do want to play that remake again at some point just to just to enjoy it again. But yeah, the Dead Space trilogy is fantastic overall.
Speaker: I just want to say, you know, better late than never. Right, Sean? but never late is better. Exactly. There you go. Shout out to Drake. ah Yeah, Dead Space. Great one. Great one. That is an honorable mention for me because it's great. I played... ah I think I played all three of them. But yeah, one and two were definitely the best. Two's the best. there But yeah, those are great games. Is it the Ishimura or whatever? You're like going down the ship and it's all... Yeah. but the yeah i do... I agree with you. I think two is the better game. It's just the first one. What the remake was so good that it just improved on all the faults of the OGs. And so it's technically the better game. But I feel like if they had remade two, it would have been better. Like because it was an incredible game.
Speaker: Yeah. Then didn't they say they're not going to remake? Yeah, I was about to say, yeah, they've they've already announced they're not going to they're not going to remake two. I know, because I also I remember this because I played the first remake and literally I was gushing about on GOP. And literally the next week, they're like, yeah, we're not making two because it didn't sell well. i was like, no, I just played the remake to make the two. EA sucks.
Speaker: EA does suck. They really do. They ruin everything. What does EA do good? I'm trying to think. Not much. All right. Well, anyway, Sean, you have any thoughts on Dead Space? and then you i've only I've only played the remake. um I do vividly remember when... remember it was Dead Space. The original Dead Space was on the cover of Game Informer, like 2008. And eight and i remember reading... of I read the whole article. I'm like, this game looks freaking awesome.
Speaker: And then I just never played it. yeah got I miss those days. Sorry. Go ahead. I was just going to say, I remember... um i I did play the demo and I just didn't like, cause you use, obviously use like tools as weapons instead of actual guns. And it just felt weird to me to play. And I just, it wasn't like scary or anything. I mean, it is a scary game, but it wasn't like, it wasn't too scary for me to play it or anything like that. It's just, I was playing and i was like, eh, this is fine. And so I just never played them. And so when the remake came and was like, I was so wrong. This game is incredible.
Speaker: Yeah. I really miss those simpler days when you mentioned Game Informer, when you would just sit back and crack open a copy of Game Informer and just read about these games that were coming up and look at the pictures and get excited and hopeful. Such simpler times. Nowadays, we're staring at our phone, looking at a bunch of idiots in Discord, like hating on stuff like, this game's going to suck. It's woke. Like, yeah, we used to be happy back then. Welcome my reacts. I'm going to react to the trailer. Whoa!
Speaker: I just remember... I do remember in middle school because... um so like, our bus ride to get to our middle school, we were the first we were the first stop. So, like, we would have kind of kind of a longer bus ride. i remember every morning, I would just crank out, like, the... like the um Game Informer or Nintendo Power or whatever I was reading, whatever gaming magazine. I would like read that the entire bus ride. And I would do the same magazine the entire month. So I'd be reading the same thing over and over again.
Speaker: I mean, it was a monthly magazine. Yeah, but it got me so hyped for like what was coming out. And I'm like, oh, this is so cool. Yeah, i was great I was a subscriber to Game Informer for...
Speaker: at least 15 years until until it shut down. And then it came back and I think I, I thought I, or no, my brother redid his, cause remember he sent it to me and I was like, I was very close subscribing. I just, I just didn't though. I should though. Cause it's awesome.
Speaker: you should Some of those covers they used to, Oh, dude, I still, yeah. The, the design, the graphic design layouts and stuff in the, like, as you see as the designer, I'm such a nerd about that and their layouts were so beautiful. I remember to the point that once I tweeted at Game Informer, like, give your graphic designers raises and all their designers retweeted. Like, oh my God, thank you for the kind words. I was like, dude, I work there. I actually did apply there right out of college, but obviously right out of college, your my portfolio was not good. So I did not get the call. Yeah. I remember back then there was also GamePro was popular and then Nintendo Power and stuff. I remember those giveaway those giveaway ads where they'd have like you'd win like a $7,000 entertainment system that had like a big screen and Atari Jaguar and a Dreamcast, like every console. like Yeah.
Speaker: I remember half of those magazines would have demo discs on them. PlayStation Magazine used to have a lot of demo discs. Yeah, I think Xbox Magazine did too, if I remember right. But yeah, like those it was legit back then. like We had it so good. It was simpler times, man. I'm telling you, like the internet's great, but honestly, i think it was better before. I vividly have i have a very vivid memory of... um So i got Mario Sunshine when it came out. It was like right before school started 2002. So i was going into first i going to into first grade.
Speaker: And person, so when we used to get off the bus, um I had like a babysitter at the top of my street. She would babysit like her and her like her. She would babysit me for like, you know, an hour, an hour and a half till my parents got out of work.
Speaker: um And I'll vividly remember they had like a son who was probably, I thought he looked like probably like I was like, oh my God, he's so old. He was probably in middle school. He had, he was subscribed to EGM and they used to have like a,
Speaker: like walkthroughs at the back of like the magazine and they had a Mario sunshine one and he let me have it. And I like poured over that like forever. Just like, cause I was like so enthralled with sunshine at the time. I'm like, Oh, I can't wait to get to this level. Oh my God. I loved it.
Speaker: Yeah. Good times, man. Simple times. All right. Let's get it back on track though. Sean, what is your number eight, sir? All right, so I'm going to jump right into my Final Fantasy XIII trilogy thoughts here. I love the trilogy. I think the games are great. I think, honestly, I do think they get... I think XIII and XIII-2 in particular really good. I think Lightning Returns kind of goes off the deep end a little bit. I think that's like, what are we doing here? I really yeah, I really love characters in 13. I know they get a lot crap. Like I know you mentioned like you don't play as Lightning in 13 to you play Sarah, who's her sister. um i really like sarah i think she's an awesome character my biggest disappointment is 13 too is you don't get saz you know remember the black guy with the afro yeah with the bird in it yeah the bird in this area yeah he was great i freaking loved him and he was awesome yeah he was awesome in 13 i really liked 13 lot and this was big for me because uh coming off final fantasy 12 that was a huge disappointment for me like i was not a big fan of 12 i've come around to liking it a little bit more but at the time i vividly That was, like, my hatred for Final Fantasy VIII and XII. XII was, like, right there with VIII. Like, I, like, hated it. Still hate VIII. But I've come around in XII a little bit. But this is, like, a huge, huge, like, I'm so glad they nailed XIII for me. was, like, at the time, I wasn't, like, on, like, video game form. So I was, like, so shocked when I found out people, like, didn't like XIII. Because, like, everyone in my friend group, like, loved it. Like, oh, XIII's great. This is awesome. This game's great. It's back. Final Fantasy's back. And then I found out. I was, like, yeah, no, people hate this game. I'm, like, what?
Speaker: You know, I think Final Fantasy 13 was the first Final Fantasy that I really played. like and course i want It was the first one on Xbox, too. Yeah, and I was an Xbox, so yeah I was excited. i was like, well, we get Final Fantasy? And I played it, and I was like, im not I don't know what's going on with this story, dude. What the fuck are they talking about with all these weird terms? And I'm like, I don't know. But ah i like as I said, I love the trilogy, though.
Speaker: Yeah, I think the, I really, really love this. I know you said a third to the story of 13. It is very complicated. They they do throw it. is It is like a lot of exposition at the beginning. and it's like oh you a lot of ah It's a lot of made up terms too. Like they're not using real words. So I have to remember the made up term and what it means. It it would have benefited obviously at the time that you can do it. You know in Final Fantasy 16 how they have like the, ah anytime like you want to like reminder, you can like go into that menu. They would have definitely benefited from that at the time. But obviously the technology at the time didn't have that. Um, yeah I really liked 13. I think the gameplay of 13, two, though, was a lot better.
Speaker: I think the gameplay of 13, two was so good. And like I said, I really liked Sarah as a character. So I enjoyed, I enjoyed playing as her. I enjoyed that whole story. But yeah, like you said, lightning returns. It's like a complete, it's almost like, it's like a spinoff game. Almost. It's like, Oh, we're going to, we're to try this like hack and slash gameplay.
Speaker: It felt like it was them just testing and trialing for what became 15. Because they were working on Versus 13 at the same time. It felt like they were trying to get the combat right for that game. You should have seen how excited I was for Versus 13. Oh, that trailer was insane. Yeah, and then we ended up getting it in Kingdom Hearts 3 in the form of a minigame.
Speaker: Okay, nice, nice. There you go. Dude, I i remember... I think we did our biggest gaming disappointments at one point, and Final Fantasy XV was there because Versus XIII, I remember being obsessed with that game. So excited for it for, what, the seven or eight years it took for the game. And we got it in Varum Rex in Kingdom Hearts 3.
Speaker: Yeah, man. I just, ah I remember i was so excited for that game. It was such a letdown. All right. Well, shout out to Lightning and Sarah. I like Sarah too. they I like all the characters. Like they had good characters. um All right, well there you go, Final Fantasy XIII. Moving on.
Speaker: This is one that I'm disappointed that Sean hasn't played yet. It is the Tomb Raider Modern Trilogy. That's Tomb Raider 2013 Crystal Dynamics, to Rise of the Tomb Raider, and then Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which I haven't played Shadow yet, but I'm going to. But I played the first two, love the first two.
Speaker: They are awesome. Shout out to Crystal Dynamics. When they were on their game, when they were at peak, do making great games, those are awesome games. Definitely, definitely recommend Tomb Raider. It's cool. The first one's kind of like, ah yeah like the first one's really good. It's like an origin story. Like she's not super strong. She's getting her ass beat and getting injured half the game, but she finds her way towards the end. She she slowly becomes the Tomb Raider.
Speaker: And then Rise. Rise is awesome. At the time, Rise had incredible graphics. It had these cool like mini open areas and fun traversal and combat, some puzzle solving and tomb raiding. Very nice. Very nice. I recommend I'm going to get to Shadow at some point. I probably would have already played Shadow right now, but I have to play Uncharted 2 first, or else I'll get lynched.
Speaker: So, yeah. When did Rise come out? What year did Rise come out? Probably like 2015 so. 15, I think. So I have a vivid memory. It had to have been 15. So at the time in college, they had this thing on our campus. so you know As many people know, Sean Mason likes to gamble. um We had a gambling. We had casino night.
Speaker: and on campus where they would like ah actual like people who worked at casinos would come in and like you played with like fake money but like you won like prize tickets and then there was like a bunch of prizes you could like get and somebody put in and they won a and x it was an Xbox One and it came with Rise of the Tomb Raider and the guy who won it when he won it got up, ran over, screamed, picked it up and ran out of the room.
Speaker: It was hilarious. Nice. Yeah, you play that game, Sean. You'll love it. Yeah, I almost included this on my list, but I haven't played Shadow, so I just didn't because I've even though I know it's it's probably a decent game, it would be enough to make it to the list. It's just I heard that it wasn't as good because I think they switched studios, didn't they? Yeah, it's different. It wasn't Crystal Dynamics. It was Eidos Montreal or whatever. Yeah. So I just, I didn't include it for that reason, but no, yeah, those first two games are phenomenal. They like, I mean, it does suck that it was like, like they made it like dark and gritty when of course, like with the new ones coming out, it's it's supposed to be campy and stupid. Like, so the fact they made it dark and gritty, I understood the complaints about that, but those games were so much fun. They like the gameplay was incredible in those games. So yeah, I great, great pick.
Speaker: Thank you. What is your next great pick, sir? My next great pick is we're going into Cape Slop here, and that is the Arkham Trilogy. no ah Because our origins doesn't count. It doesn't exist. even Actually, I like that game. It's just not nearly as good as the other three. And it doesn't exist according to Rux. They don't... been on Yeah, they did the Ark Return Arkham trilogy or whatever. it may ever even break They never bring it up.
Speaker: Yeah, it's never mentioned. But yeah, Arkham Asylum is my favorite one just because I love the... it like i It wasn't ever was like a smaller game. It was that.
Speaker: It was like you're in Arkham and it's just you see all the villains in their prison cells. Like it was such. I mean, even City was packed full of Easter eggs. But just there's something about Arkham Asylum. I just absolutely loved it. Even though Arkham City was the better game. It is an incredible game. Arkham Knight, I was.
Speaker: I didn't like the the story was insanely predictable and I didn't really care for the tank combat. I just, I get, that's a very divisive opinion, but the first two are amazing. Arkham Knight is good. It's a fun game, but those first two are absolutely incredible, which is another, good guy yeah again, another reason why it's at seven rather than, you know, lower. Cause those games are like the first two games are like perfect games. They are so, so good. But the third one, yeah, it just brings it down for me a little bit.
Speaker: yeah yeah The Akraham Trilogy, as you wrote there. Shout out to the Akraham Trilogy. It's really good. yeah And rest in peace ah to the studio, man.
Speaker: Rocksteady. I don't know what happened to them. They released ah Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights. Unalive Justice League. Yeah. i like I can't believe they that Suicide Squad game. Unalive Justice League.
Speaker: I didn't play it, but it looked terrible from everything I saw. No, I remember seeing that and everyone's like, oh man, I got faith in Rocksteady. I'm like, why? This looks horrible. I got i get having faith in studios that have never made it like a bad game, but it looked bad and it was. so yeah But shout out to the Acroham Trilogy. Great games. I'll talk about them later, maybe. o ah Sean, what say you, sir? I'll be talking about them later.
Speaker: Oh, right well, what about what do you want to talk about now? huh Right now, we're talking about the Dark Souls trilogy, Dark Souls 1 through 3. Dark Souls. Pretty.
Speaker: They invented the obviously the souls like games where, you know, they're incredibly difficult and the get good mentality where, you know, you die and then it's like, oh, got to get my souls again. And then you go and you die. You're like, oh, just wasted 10,000 souls. Probably should have upgraded before that. um But yeah, no, I really love Dark Souls, particularly 1 and 3. 2 gets a lot of crap. I don't think 2's that bad, but I know a lot of people give 2 crap. And a lot of people give 2 crap because it's like incredibly difficult. 2 is like very, very difficult, like unforgiving. And there's a lot of like and by when I say unforgiving, it's like it's like cheap stuff. like
Speaker: Come on, like the boss like just pulls off this crazy thing. It's like you can't even defend it. It's like you're dead. Whereas in one and three, it's like more of like learning the patterns. And once you learn the patterns, it's pretty easy, but um vividly like dark souls three for me was like an absolute, like all time. I love literally lost two weeks of my life just playing dark souls three, like pretty much like half the day. I would just play dark souls three for two weeks in college and do nothing else. um But I loved, I had never experienced really anything like that. This is like,
Speaker: it's all environmental storytelling there's no like over i mean there is an overarching story and there's like these like you know youtube deep dives in the story but it's more of just like what's going on in the environment you kind of make up the story as you go like oh my character is this and we're in this crazy world um but i love the combat in these games i think it's super smooth uh there's so many different like classes you can make there's so many different ways to play it it encourages replayability because you can like one uh one person can play it as like a mage and do all like spells and really focus on range combat and someone else could go in like full on up in your face using like swords or daggers or poison and um i just love these games and the enemy design is so cool like and the environments are awesome and i i love getting better you feel yourself get better at this because you'll encounter a boss but this is so tough and then you'll go back and think
Speaker: How did I even think that was tough? Because now I'm fighting this like crazy other thing. But yeah, Dark Souls 1 through 3. I think these are the best for Microsoft games too. I know a lot of people are like, oh, Elden Ring and Bloodborne are better. i think Dark Souls 3 is the best of any for Microsoft game.
Speaker: But that's just my opinion. Dark Souls 1 through 3. Wow. Yeah. Those are strong words considering that both Sekiro and Elden Ring won game of the year.
Speaker: Three is better, huh? Dark Souls 3? Dark Souls 3 is incredible. Like, it is an incredible game. I thought people didn't like Dark Souls 3. No, i dark remember it's Dark Souls 2 people don't like. People don't like 2, okay. Like I said, the only reason people don't like 2... It's because it has the difficulty, but the difficulty is like cheapness.
Speaker: Like there's stuff like like in Dark Souls, it's designed where like if you learn the combat, if you learn the combos or you can get good and well you know you get better at it and you can learn to dodge the enemies. Dark Souls 2, there's like moves you can't dodge. it It's like, oh, the boss is going to kill you right now. Sorry.
Speaker: Yeah, that's lame. That's lame. All right. Yeah, I don't like I don't like Souls games at all, except for Elden Ring. Elden Ring was the only one that I loved because it was open world and the exploration was there, you know, like, oh, see the cave go in the cave. Oh, what's in the cave? Oh, there's all this cool loot. And then there's a boss and it's awesome. I got really hooked by the open world setting and stuff. But yeah, I don't like these linear masochist games usually because I'm not good enough.

Speaker: Gears of War, Hodge. Gears of War is my number seven. Great trilogy. Played all three of them. Beat all three of them. Really fun. Of course, playing the campaign co-op is fun.
Speaker: That's cool. But the main thing I like is the multiplayer, of course. I was never good at it. Yeah, and two of them, well, you got to play it a lot to get good, you know. And then two was my favorite by far. I've said this before. I put in hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours on Gears of War 2 multiplayer with my brother and and our other friend, Daniel. Man, we used to grind this game. we We got really good. It was just a lot of fun, man, just taking people out, chainsawing them, coming up, doing like ah the active reload and shotgunning and blowing up people. Man, it was great. Throwing the grenades, perfect grenades.
Speaker: Good times, good times. Shout out to Gears of War. I've fallen out of love with this series. Like I didn't enjoy three that much. Like I said, I played the hell out of two. I didn't play much three multiplayer I'm talking about.
Speaker: Didn't really get into the multiplayer much for some reason. And then i all the new ones, like I've barely barely played at all. like I haven't touched. like I played Judgment, and it was and it was okay. i haven't played I didn't play 4 or 5, whatever the hell.
Speaker: And I'm not really that excited about the new one either. Although it looks awesome. It looks f freaking awesome. I've just fallen out of love with Gears of War, but... At the time, it was awesome, dude. This was really good.

So there's Alan Wake 1 and 2 and then it's been off. But,
Speaker: that decide Alan wake remedy in general. I was, i was actually debating jokingly saying Alan wake, uh, control and Alan wake too, because control is part of it, but, uh, yeah. But anyway, I love, obviously as everyone everyone knows, I love remedy. I love Alan wake. The first game I think has one of the best stories and then a game I've ever played. Alan wake two is a great story as well. And then it's also just creepier because the graphics are so much better. The game plays so much better. ah I just love both these games and yeah even American nightmare. It's not a bad game. It's just, you could tell it was a pretty quickly made game. Cause if I don't, I doubt either of you have played it, but basically you're in one setting and you keep replaying the night over and over again. So they don't really have to add anything. Cause you're in like the same spot, the entire game. And it's, they don't really add too much to it. It's just that stuff happens that changes the world slightly. And well, you do go to some other places, but you go to like three locations and they're,
Speaker: just on repeat with each other. So it's, it's, ah I guess it makes sense because it's a nightmare. So it's repeating itself, but yeah, it's, it's not amazing. It's not, it's not bad at by any stretch. It's definitely not like a mid game. I'd say everyone should skip. It's just not nearly as high on my list of favorite games as Alan Lake one and two, but yes. No surprise to anyone.

Speaker: The third game is coming and it's going to be awesome. i always Plus, maybe you include Intergrade as like a mini game. I was actually going to say, as an honorable mention, I was going to say the trilogy the remake trilogy because Revelations is going to be awesome. We already know. know we We have the first two and then the third. So it is going to be a top trilogy of all time. But also, technically, there is it is a trilogy. You have seven, seven remake and seven rebirth. are And then you have ah and you a new crisis core on there, too.
Speaker: Yeah, we got my favorite trilogy, my favorite trilogy. Final Fantasy. Yeah, no, it's it's yeah. Dirge of Cerberus, Final Fantasy seven and Crisis Core. It's the great trilogy. And then Advent Children in there as well. When it's all said and done, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be one of the all-time trilogies. Oh, yeah. It would be top five on my list, I'm sure. Spoiler, it's not going to be a trilogy. They're going to say, oh, we're going to make a fourth one, though.

Speaker: how i cheating PlayStation is going to have another three d platforming mascot. And that is LittleBigPlanet trilogy. LittleBigPlanet 1, 2, and 3. We got Sackboy. What a name. What a name. Sackboy. Yeah, you know, middle school Sean was you know laughing at that. Sackboy. uh a little big planet one two and three um i loved one and two in particular like i freaking loved one and two like these were games that i poured hours and hours me and my friends would make levels that probably sucked but we played them and we're like oh look at my new level this ninja warrior style level um and we would just go online and play like random people's levels there were some creators who made some insanely good levels. like Absolutely. like i can like Better than what Media Molecule was making. um we played they're out There's always that. yeah Origin Halo. yeah yeah There's always that. Why don't you work for the studio? um Because it's some 8-year-old who lives in Arkansas. um but yeah we played the crap out of 1 and 2. The DLC for 1 and 2, they had a Metal Gear Solid level pack where like they gave you costumes where you could dress as snake and there was Metal Gear Solid themed levels and you' the music playing. And they incorporated so much into Little Big Planet. They would just randomly drop these levels. Like I said, these random level packs um with costumes. so People would make Mario-themed levels. They would somehow like give you a Mario costume.
Speaker: Because like someone would make it. It was great. And even 3. 3... kind of got off the rails a little bit. It wasn't made by Media Molecule, and they started including, like, these, like, different like different characters. I was gonna say, I remember there being, like, weird-looking Sack Elephant and, like, Sack, like, yeah. But, um, shout-out to that narrator, some English guy, and he had the best voice ever. Like, it was awesome, and it was just so, like, captivating. But, like, the stories were fun, and this like the stories were fun, but, like,
Speaker: But I just remember like those like level packs they would drop. like The Metal Gear Solid one in particular I remember like vividly because it came out like right when MGS4 came out. And it was like, I can't believe this is an actual thing. I'm running around a sack boy dressed like Snake with the the um the music from Metal Gear playing. And it's like, don't get caught. And it's like, you got caught. It's like gun shooting at you. God, little big planet. What a game. And me and my friends used to like...
Speaker: Because when um Little Big Planet 1 came out, there was a song. and it like They had pretty good soundtrack. i don't remember what it was called. But we used to just like sing it all the time in like science class in like seventh grade. And it probably pissed off our teachers so bad. And like I'm just really thinking about if I had students right now doing that, how mad I would be and how aggravated I would be. But we just kept doing it. and We thought we were so funny.
Speaker: Wow. We were... Dude, I knew you were going to include this, but I remember, like you saying, like the British guy and stuff. I just remember how charming this This was one of the first games I bought on PS3, like how charming this game was. It's a shame that it kind of died. Like, obviously, there were sacks. Even though one really talks about Sackboy's Big Adventure anymore. That's one of the best platformers PS5.
Speaker: it Yeah, it was an incredible game. I had so much fun with it. But, Sean, I got to tell you, I so i thought of you the other day because I was ah i was at Wally World and they had this piggy bank I just sent the to our link. They had this piggy bank there and I i was so close to buying it.
Speaker: Yeah, I was so close to buying that, but I didn't. I love that one. yeah it's it's a Yeah, those games are so... charming it's It's so weird that it was like such a cute, charming platformer series that it was like the mascot for PS3 for a while. and was like just like It hit so hard, and then it just fell off a map.
Speaker: Yeah. I think it's just one it's just a case of like mistreating a franchise, see what happens to it, and that's what happened to it. It's just... we had hy We got LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, and then they had a couple spinoffs. They had LittleBigPlanet PSP, which is just like a port of the PS3 game, basically, but it was like a downgrade. They had LittleBigPlanet Karting, which like literally came and went.
Speaker: Oh, God, i forgot about that. Yeah. They had that, and then they had ModNation Racers at the same time. and Remember that? and Remember ModNation Racers? It was literally like Media Molecule. look Oh, this is our LittleBigPlanet making racing game where you can make your own tracks. like You had it with LittleBigPlanet karting. was the same freaking thing. Jeez.

The only thing I remember about Little Big Planet was that I got it for free after the PlayStation hack in 2013. They gave out like five games. They gave out like Infamous, Little Big Planet, a bunch of crap like as a mate good. Yeah, you know what I chose, unfortunately? Frickin' Sonic 4. I bet that was great. I didn't even play it.
Speaker: I didn't play any of the ones they gave me either, so... All right, there is my I don't have anything to say about Little Big Planet, but yeah, shout out to that. My number six guys.
Speaker: is another repeat. Batman Arkham Trilogy. Great, great, great, great. Now, I didn't play the the third one yet, Origen or whatever, but I played the first two i I do what I want, Sean. The first two were incredible. Asylum is is the best. It's so great. I love how it's like narrow and focused. It's kind of like the Miles Morales deal. i like I like a limited focus. It's a 3D mesopotamia.
Speaker: That's what it is. It's awesome. It is. Yeah. mean I remember there were areas in Arkham, the asylum where I because there's the i remember there's a chasm you had to cross. was like, how do I get over there? And then I realized you had to come back later when you had new powers. Yeah, I love that. I love those kinds of games, though. I love the return and with new powers things. Absolutely love that stuff.
Speaker: Yeah, this was awesome. I really enjoyed the first one the but the most. ah City was also good, too, but, you know, it was it felt more bloated and less focused, but it was good, too. And, you know, one day I'll play the third one, probably, maybe.
Speaker: But yeah, shout out the Arkham trilogy. We already talked about it, so I'll keep mine short and brief. There you go. acram but How about you, Hodge?
Speaker: number five My number five is a trilogy that some people don't think of as a trilogy because it's part of an overall series, but that is the Modern Warfare trilogy, the OG Call of Duty Modern Warfare trilogy. ah This was back during the peak of Call of Duty. Noob2.
Speaker: Yeah, the new two. Oh, God, i don't ever. Marty. dumb martyrd Oh, my gosh. Martyrdom. That's yeah. that I just remember how many kill streaks ended because I would get nuked by a Martyrdom. ah That pissed me off so much. But no, dude, because obviously the get the multiplayer was peak, even though I still say four is by far my favorite. It's my favorite Call of Duty of all time. It's also my favorite multiplayer. And the story is incredible. The story kind of went a little out of... It got a little crazy as it went on. It it it definitely peaked with four, and then Modern Warfare 2 is... Like, you had the the the turncoat dude, the army guy, and then the third one was just...
Speaker: crazy it was like the war in america and all that like it got a little it got a little kooky but the the multiplayer was peak across all three again i i just prefer four but because i like the simplicity of like you get you level up the gun if you get kills you get these camels if you get headshots get these camels and then you're done like i i like the simplicity of the prestige system and the leveling up system online but Overall, that trilogy was it.
Speaker: They have not had that high of a high from that series since like they've had good games. There's been good Call of Duty since, of course. But that Modern Warfare trilogy was just art. It was so good. So, yeah, i got include the Modern Warfare trilogy in my list.
Speaker: That was absolutely by far the best five-year run because they also, in between them, they had Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2. I was going to say 07 to 2012. Yeah, I was going to say 07 to 2012 was probably the peak of college.
Speaker: Even World of War. I love that game. Yeah, which is 08, yeah. Yeah, exactly. That gave them zombies, yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: That is the absolute flawless peak run of ah shooter games. Six great games. That was back when Call of Duty would like be a headliner of E3. Now they just throw it in there to show it like, yeah, there's another one. but like that was like the reveal of that year's Call of Duty was always like an event. And now yeah now it's just like, guess what?
Speaker: Modern Warfare is being rebooted for a seventh time. Speaking of Game Informer, like we were talking about earlier, I remember in 2007, it was like August 2007. It was like, oh, these are the the most exciting games we are we're excited for for the rest of the year. And I remember they had Modern Warfare over Halo 3. And that like blew my mind. I was like, what? And that was like the first time I was like, holy crap. And I just remember that.
Speaker: And I also remember Modern Warfare 2 because my friends were playing. remember I didn't play any these games online, but I i have all the stories from my friends and I picked up on things. I just remember my friends yelling, NMEAC 130 above. Can't believe we just got nuked.
Speaker: Yeah, we're back. We're back, boys. Hodge got hacked by Russia. It was crazy. Putin was in there. 25 killstreak. Putin was in there playing Flappy Bird on on Hodge's computer. It was weird. ah But we're going to move on. Modern Warfare 1 through 3. Great games. We know it. We know it. Sean, what is your number 5, sir? Alright, we're going to stick with the shooter route. and I'm going with the Resistance trilogy. Resistance 1, 2, and So we got Resistance Fall of Man. And then they're like, you know what? Screw We're just going to numbers now. Resistance 2, Resistance 3. No more colon. And then, ah you know,
Speaker: name uh i love the series fall man was a launch ps3 title i got it when the ps3 came out um i thought it was awesome little did i know you know you know xbox had much better shooters um no but uh uh resistance was great i think resistance 2 was phenomenal i think resistance 3 is great each game gets better the stories are unbelievable um and They tell really, really compelling stories. ah In the third game, you play different protagonist because of the events of 1 and 2, and it it really hits home. It's a shame that Resistance 3 kind of just came and went. It was at the time...
Speaker: uh it was it was 2011 but it was at the time sony was like oh let's do the playstation move so they threw the move sticker on the box everyone's like what the heck is this f freaking playstation move this crap not buying this game uh but no the versus this three is great uh one two and three are all great but it's a shame that they're just straight out of the ps3 it's like come on guys let's get the modern let's port it up just give us one through three we know you'll want to do it or just you know somehow get the ps3 emulation running since you know Somehow. But yeah, Resistance 1 and 3. You play as Nathan Hale in 1 2. And then Joseph Capelli in 3.
Speaker: I vividly remember on ah New Year's Eve 2008, me and my buddy were playing Resistance 2. There was a snowstorm going on. We were playing 2 co-op. and were just running around.
Speaker: Right when the ball dropped to make 2009, my mom was like, you guys excited? It's 2009. We're like, we're trying to kill some chimera. Leave us alone.
Speaker: We're in seventh grade. We thought we were so cool. Frickin' losers. You were. You were very cool. Dude, that's one of those that I would absolutely love for them to like remaster, remake, whatever, because i tried I've said this before on here, but I've tried the first one, and remake the controls were so bad. you like not even like you When you go to aim down your sight, it locks you in. It's like, what is this, 2001? 2001?
Speaker: Yeah, it was it was... Those controls were horrible. And and it sucked because that's... that I've said this, again, I've said this before, but that, like, idea of alien invasion during World War II is just so cool. It is yeah such an awesome concept. that And I wanted to love it. It's like a branched history. So, like, World War I happens, and during World War I, they signed, like, a big peace treaty, and then that treaty actually, like...
Speaker: it's Like there is no world war instead of world war two, the chimera come in. Like it's actually, you don't even see the actual chimera aliens because they're in space. What you are fighting is people infected by the chimera and they're like transformed into their species. There's a level, there's a level. in the first Yeah. There's a level in the first game where you go through like a chimera like breeding station. And at the beginning of the level, you see like a dead body corpse. like, well, a corpse come into, like, a station, and you kind of follow it as it goes through the process, and at the end of the level, he comes out, you have to kill him as a chimera, and it is freaking insane to, like, look at, like, go through the process, it's insane.
Speaker: The game is is so good, and then, like, oh my god, one of the super bosses in the second one is called, his name's Daedalus, and he, like, talks to you, and he, like, it's so good. 2 is much, hoge I will say 2 is much better, like they update the controls, same thing with 3. 1's controls are horrific. It's it's like PS1, it's like an early PS2 game, it feels like.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm really not surprised if they would have yeah if that they would have like improved the controls. It's just I'm the kind of person who I ah want to play every game in the series. Yeah, it's not. I'm not going to skip the first one to play the better of playing one. So yeah if they if they do that, where it's like kind of how the Dead Space remake, they updated the controls to be more like the later games and like the stuff like that. And if they did that with the first resistance and made that trilogy again, i would.
Speaker: day one i'd be there for sure so some of the weapons in the resistance trilogy are so good too like this weapon called the bullseye that's like the chimera is like standard weapon and like each weapon has like a special shot and the special shot for the bullseye was you would shoot this thing and it would connect to an enemy and then you could like go behind a wall and shoot and the bolts would follow to the enemy it's freaking awesome the bolt the auger you could shoot through walls with it oh i freaking love the game oh they have these spike grenades that were freaking insane god i freaking love resistance let's bring it back Bring it back, Sony. It's been 15 years.
Speaker: Yeah, Sony. All right. Hodge, do you have any more thoughts on Resistance? No, just, again, I just wish that they'd, you know, make it good. All right.
Speaker: So yeah, I haven't really played Resistance. I played a little bit of Fallen Man for like 10 minutes and I was like, yeah, okay. um But my next game is also a shooter. This this turned out to be Shooter Row here, the our number fives, unintentionally. Mine is a little known shooter known as Halo.
Speaker: Now this is a great trilogy, of course. Actually did play all three of these, Sean. ah Halo 1, 2, and 3, three sweet incredible games. Is it a trilogy? I mean, Halo 4, same main character. Hmm.
Speaker: It is a trilogy. I don't know. Same main character. No, it's 1000% a trilogy. I don't know, guys. yeah jim It's a Bungie trilogy. Yeah. Halo 1 through 3, the best Halo games by far. a Shout out to Bungie. Rest in peace. ah They're not dead yet.
Speaker: But Halo 1 through 3, three incredible games, awesome campaigns, awesome shooters in the multiplayer, of course, especially 3. 3 was the one where I played the hell out of multiplayer with the boys until Modern Warfare came out, of course, and then we we mostly switched over.
Speaker: Started calling it GALO instead of Halo. But yeah, Halo's awesome, dude. The sticky grenades, the rocket launchers, the snipers, the battle rifles. yeah It's just iconic. and Rolling around in the ghost or whatever, like blasting people, you know, the hovercraft thing.
Speaker: Super awesome, dude. can't You can't go wrong with Halo. i get You know, what else what else needs to be said? you know Halo 1 through 3 is my number 5. Now, here's a guy named Master Chief, and he's pretty f freaking awesome.

Speaker: All right. What's your number four, Hodge? Numero four is i another series that I absolutely love, obviously. The first game of this series is in my top, I think, 10, if I remember right, of all time. And that is the God of War trilogy. The OG God of War trilogy, the Greek mythology trilogy, um absolute masterpiece of games. Even though when I was replaying them, like I remember thinking like two and three were like perfect games, like nothing bad about these games. And then I replayed them. im like they're not a Gameplay-wise, still amazing. And the stories are still great. But I remembered, like oh yeah, these stories are kind of not the best. like They're not horrible, but they're not as good as like the first one of...
Speaker: like Kratos being a puppet for Ares and him getting revenge for it. It's just, it's such a cool story. And then the second one, it's like the gods betrayed you for some reason. And now got to find the Titans. And then the third one is literally, you just trying to escape hell the entire time and get back to where you were at the end of the second game. And it's just like, oh, you're just kind of having to retrace your steps because the game had to happen. and the second Because the second one ended on a cliffhanger. oh They couldn't just end in the third one, so they have to add all this to it. So it was ah it's not it's not perfect, but overall, it is still an amazing trilogy, and the gameplay is so much fun. I love... I like Angry Kratos, even though...
Speaker: Obviously, see the 2018 and Ragnarok are both great games, but Angry Kratos from PS2, phenomenal. I bought my PS3 because I wanted God of War 3. Well, and Kingdom Hearts 3, but that would never happen. But that's literally why that's literally why I bought a PS3 was for those two games. And then obviously I ended up falling in love with many other games like Uncharted. But yeah, God of War 3 was the reason I got that next gen. And it was amazing. And it was it was hilarious because the step up in graphics from 2 to 3 was insane at the time. And now three, looks like crap compared to newer games. But yeah, I just, i absolutely love that trilogy. So the God of War trilogy.

I plan on playing these God of War games I've never played the Greek the greek era of Kratos. um But I do plan playing them because I know they're some people's most beloved games of all time. And ah my only recollection, my only memory of God of War is...
Speaker: my dad was playing it and i remember there was a scene where kratos is in a hot tub with some very scandalous woman yeah is i like gang the bang the women qte yeah and i was like what are you playing my dad was like don't tell your mother that yeah those those video games were uh a choice that's for sure They said they're going to be in the remake, though. so I doubt it.
Speaker: i forgot they were even remaking them. Yeah, hopefully they're right. I'll wait and play those. There you go. Yeah, i really hope really hope they're great because, yeah, I absolutely love those. so sean all right so my number four is the halo 4 5 and infinite trilogy no it's not it's halo 1 through 3 halo 1 through 3 um the bungee trilogy uh these games are incredible um so like i talked about with resistance how it was a great shooter halo knocks it out of the park like this is like a huge step up here um Halo 1, you know, sets the baseline, then you go to Halo 2. Halo 2 blew me away. Like, I was so excited to play as Arbiter. Like, I couldn't believe it. I was like, whoa, going to play as Arbiter? It's so cool! Like, I thought that was freaking awesome. I just loved, like, Halo 3, I think, is the best of them. But something about Halo 2's campaign, and I know a lot of people gave it crap because like, it was like cut short, randomly ends. I loved the ending. I thought it so cool. It leads you right into 3, and it made me want to pick up 3 right away, which I get at the time. probably like, freaking, I have to wait however many years for 3. Whereas me, I was like, all right, I'm just going to put 3 right now and play it right away.
Speaker: But I loved it. i The mission structure of 3, too. like Some of those levels are so memorable. and like Even at that ending level, i everyone knows when you're driving the warthog. It's like, we've got to get to the end! Save everyone! Like, that is so cool. Like, they should have ended it right. Like, the why didn't they end it right there? Like, ended a Halo 3. It was a perfect way to end the series.
Speaker: They should have ended it. No, they can't do that. They need more money. Microsoft needs money. They had to sell their console. That was 2007. Like, even then, people were ending trilogies. Like, just ending. But, um, no, Halo 1 through 3. It's so, like, one, it's probably the best shooting. you like to to Just to play, it feels so great. Some of the best, some of great weapons, some of the vehicles are awesome.
Speaker: Facts. Yeah, like, frickin' the Needler. Like, who doesn't love the Needler? Needler's great. Yeah. Everything's great. Halo's awesome. Covenant Sniper. That's what like. Heck yeah.
Speaker: Heck yeah. All right. Are you satisfied on Halo, sir? Yeah. Shout to the Banshee. like flying around the Banshees. Shout out to everything, dude. Halo is great, dude. Except online. Fuck the Banshees. Was it like bad online?
Speaker: The Banshees? It was just people would stay in them the whole game. And there was like, in some of the Halo games, there was no way to take it out unless you were just a perfect shot at the rocket launcher. Eventually, you were able to lock on, which made it a little more fair. But at the time, oh my god, if someone was in the Banshee, they were going and you were just getting furious because you couldn't take them out. it so annoying i do have a memory there there was one kid in our friend group had an xbox like one kid and he had halo 2 and he told us about this thing called the scared of gun and we had we were like what what are you talking about he's yeah you you're saying you fly off the map there's like a gun out there we thought he was like there's no freaking way this is like this is my uncle works at nintendo level crap right here so he's like no i'm serious so he invited us all over we're sitting there watching play and he's like little like like 30 inch like crtv he's like sitting there playing he's like leading this banshee down a tunnel and we're like what are you doing he's like no this is how you're supposed to do it and then he like freaking does and he finds his gun out in the middle we're like what is going on so that led us to believe that in any game you could like break out of it and it'd be like some like other world so then we started trying to do it in like every single game we played
Speaker: Nice. Did you ever succeed? Did you break out ever? ever No. I know in Modern i know in like modern Warfare, I think it was made it might have been Modern Warfare 2 or 3, there was a way to break out of some level.
Speaker: That's all I remember. But yeah. Yeah, Halo. Scarab gun. Freaking my uncle works at Nintendo. All right. by Number four.
Speaker: is another beloved series of mine. And that is Assassin's Creed, the Ezio trilogy. Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations. Now this is a great trilogy. Ezio is still probably the goaded protagonist And I had a lot of fun with these games. Revelations, I was starting to get a little bit burnt out by by Revelations. I'm like, I'm ready for a new setting, yeah ready for a new character. But man, the first two especially were so good. Two was incredible. Brotherhood was even better.
Speaker: um How they introduced new elements like the actual Brotherhood and how you could like send them out on missions and stuff. and And Revelations was a continuation of that too. They even had the multiplayer, I think was pretty fun. ah Surprisingly, I think that were in these games. How does that even work? It was kind of awesome. It was like one person it was was the assassin and the other people had to like hide.
Speaker: Yeah, it was almost like Prop Hunt. It was like Prop Hunt, yeah. People hid in the crowd and you had to figure out who was the real people. And assassinate them, yeah. It was a lot of fun. So was Mecha Chameleon before Mecha Chameleon?
Speaker: Exactly. I mean, kind of. But yeah, it was it was insanely fun. That's insane. I mean, hey, that was because that was back in the era of you have to shoehorn multiplayer every single game. Like Uncharted 2. Yeah, that, Uncharted, and Bioshock 2. I actually loved all of them. I thought they were all Uncharted 2 multiplayer. Pretty fun. Yeah, it was good. And Last of Us multiplayer, of course, that was a legendary one. But yeah, that was back in the the shoehorn multiplayer in every game era. And they did they had some bangers every once in a while. i just I didn't know Assassin's Creed in multiplayer. It was fun, dude. It was fun. It was prop hunt, basically. yeah People were trying to blend in and hide, and and you had to sneak around and take them out, man.
Speaker: It's good stuff. um But yeah, Ezio Auditory de Firenze. Great character. I loved it, man. I loved it. You like had that little city that you had to like rebuild. and like ah That was fun, too. Everything was great, dude.
Speaker: That was peak Assassin's Creed until Odyssey came out, which was even better. But yeah, AC, Ezio Trilogy, my number four. Great games. Very nice. Go play them. There you go.

Speaker: All right. I got the Mafia Trilogy, Final Fantasy 13, and its sequels. Tomb Raider 2013, Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Gears of War 1 through 3, the Arkham Trilogy, Halo, the first three, the Bungies games, and then the NCO Trilogy of Assassin's Creed. That's two Brotherhood and Revelations.
Speaker: Hodge, let's bring it home, man. What's the final three? Let's gonna start with number three with you. Number three is one of the greatest trilogies of all time because they do end up all connecting to each other in ways you would never imagine, and that is Bioshock. I knew it was going to be Bioshock.
Speaker: Yeah, this is, i have it at three because, well, obviously there's two um i like more, but ah hold on, going to sneeze.
Speaker: All right, we're back. Just obviously, second one. We never left. but Yeah, know, I know. The second one is obviously a little... um it's it's It's the weaker of the other you know ones, but the gameplay does improve from the first one. But overall, it's just all three of these games are masterpieces, and I absolutely love them. Even the DLCs in each game are amazing. like You don't say that much about games of where it's like like the peak of Bioshock 2 is its DLC. 3 is an amazing game, or Infinite is an amazing game, but that DLC, is it just makes it it just brings it up to a new level of amazingness and So yeah, just the Bioshock trilogy. It's a perfect trilogy. I don't think four will be even remotely close, especially with Kevin Levine, not part of it or Ken Levine. Sorry. ah But obviously I want Judas too, but I am waiting on that stuff. But this, but this trilogy masterpiece, I need to get back to, I want to replay it again. I've replayed this series two or three or four to seven times. I don't know at this point, but I want to replay these games again. They're just,
Speaker: masterpieces So Bioshock trilogy. All right. Good stuff. Sean, you have any thoughts? ah Bioshock 1 and 2 are great games. Phenomenal. They hold up incredibly well to play now.
Speaker: I just think they're they're phenomenal games. What about Infinite? haven't played it. You got to do that, man. It's not on my list, so it doesn't matter. i didn't i only included trilogies that I've played all the games. But why haven't you played Infinite? What's wrong with you?

Speaker: My number three. So I was going to include, i was going to the Ratchet and Clank Future series, but there's actually four games in that. So I'm like, even though one of them is like a smaller game, but it did get a physical release eventually. So I'm not going include So I'm just going to go with the OG Ratchet and Clank Trilogy, the original Ratchet and Clank Trilogy, the three for the PS2. Because the future trilogy, the future saga, as they call it, four games. That's like the PS3 era, but that's like its own saga. So i'm going with original Ratchet & Clank trilogy by Insomniac. So my second Insomniac installment on this list. I love Ratchet & Clank. I think they're phenomenal games. I think though you really see like the how creative Insomniac gets with like their different weapon titles and how they um do their weapons.
Speaker: Mm-hmm. Yeah, dude, I've always wanted to go back and play these because, again, I was like a Jak and Daxter kid. i play I didn't play Ratchet and Clank at all. But then when that 2016, yeah, that's what I was thinking, remake came out, i was just like, I love this. And then even Rift Apart, which I thought was worse in 2016, but it was still great. I'm like, I really need to do this trilogy or this ah this game series right because these games are absolutely phenomenal.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, the original one through three on PS2 were so good. I mean, you had, like, ah they had a crack. They had um Go and Commando was one of them and Up Your Arsenal. These had, like, the the weird names, like the innuendos. But the level designs were great. I mean, you saw the evolution of a Ratchet and Clank's um relationship, too. In the first one, they freaking hate each other. Like, they absolutely hate each other. And they they kind of retconned that in the... um in the remake, but, um, they like legitimately hate each other and it's hilarious.
Speaker: Hmm. Okay. Well, I never played them, you know, platforming is great in the games. Uh, the shooting really good. Enemies are really funny. You have some funny weapons too. Like the, uh, like there's a weapon you throw and it makes everyone dance. And it's kind of funny.
Speaker: Hmm. Okay. Hodge, you have any thoughts on Ratchet before we move on? Because I don't, unfortunately. No, again, like i I enjoyed the the two that I've played since 2016, but I need to go back and play the OGs. Because I want to say they're available on like the PS Plus stuff, but...
Speaker: ah The originals, they, I'm not sure. No, i don't I'm not sure. I know they made at least a trilogy for the PS3. Yeah, I thought they added something, but I could be wrong. But yeah. And they had one on Vita. They had a trilogy on Vita. Don't play it. The frame rate is so bad. It's like 20 frames per second. It's like horrible.
Speaker: All right. All right, well, moving on here to my number three. i've been trying I've been laughing a little bit thinking about this one here because this is the most fraudulent shit in the history of Games Over Plastic that is about to happen right now.
Speaker: So, no, it is a trilogy. So, Sean, you were getting on me about having... a trilogies where I didn't play one of the games. oh Well, I'm about to have a trilogy here where I didn't play two of the games for you here. So I'm going to announce this and then I'm going to I'm going to give you two minutes to roast me, Sean. OK, so here it is.
Speaker: The Witcher trilogy. I only played and beat three. It was amazing. I did actually play the intro to two, like the first like 30 to 60 minutes. But then I kind of dropped it. Speaker: Yeah, they they kind of made the three look like a claw a little bit. Yeah. But yeah, so this is very fraudulent, I will admit. But I don't care. I'm doing it anyway. ah Sean, feel like I said, roast me all you want. I am going to play two.
Speaker: I am going to play two. I don't know about one. One's kind of like aged and janky. So I don't know if I'm going to play one, maybe at one point. But I'm definitely going play two. Two's pretty awesome from what I played and what I've heard.
Speaker: Three is is a masterpiece. It's in my top three games of all time. I'm going to ask you a question. Did you know what Witcher was before Witcher 3 came out? Because I didn't. No, I don't think so, no. Okay.
Speaker: Not really. No, no, I did. I did, actually, because I played some of Witcher 2. I actually have a YouTube video where I played the first 10 minutes of Witcher 2, and that was before Witcher 3 came out. ah So, yeah, yeah, I did, actually. I had no idea what Witcher was before 2, though.
Speaker: I never heard of Witcher 1. I never heard of the novels or any of that crap. so But, yeah, Witcher really came super popular with 3, of course. That was the game of the year, Banger from 2015.
Speaker: All right, so there you go, Witcher. There you go. I've talked about this so many times, I don't need to keep going into it. Geralt of Rivia, the Witcher. He's got two swords, one silver ah for monsters and one steel or whatever for humans. And you do magic, you sword fight. It's got a great story with choices. I actually didn't know that's why he had two swords.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah. do Yeah, one's to kill monsters with the silver sword and the other one's for normal fights against humans. Steel sword. That seems pretty inefficient. It works, though. It works. and You don't want to use a silver sword against humans, man. It's going to like dull and, you know, can't do that, man. Yes, I don't want to kill people with ah with the wrong weapon.
Speaker: Well, you don't want to damage your expensive silver sword ah banging against other people's swords, you know? Come on, man. He doesn't have limitless silver. He's a broke witcher.

Speaker: It is a very quick game. It is a very empty game. It is not there. It is not difficult to beat the first one in a very short amount of time. It's a very, it's like a test in the waters kind of game. And then the third one was a little too bloated, had all these missions with side characters that honestly, most them don't care about. and you had to go into their worlds and do all these things. And it was just, it was just a bloated game. It wasn't bad. just It was bloated. But this ah so the fact that even though I love all three of these games and play all three of them,
Speaker: ah It is this two of the three are just weaker. That's just the like visibly weaker than the second one. So it just it knocked it to two for me, even though I absolutely love all three games.

I mean, that trilogy is is great. I think it's kind of a fake trilogy, though, because, you know, we got Spyro 4 when Spyro a hero's tale on X. No, kidding. No, it's a great. It's a great pick. That didn't happen. It was ah an honorable mention for me. I know how much you love Spyro again. Spyro is a big part of my life, too.
Speaker: My sister's favorite. Like, she loves the Spyro games. You're so right, though. Two is so much better than one and three. 3 in particular, 3 is good, but it gets like, there's some weird stuff in 3, like some really weird stuff in 3.

Speaker: Yeah. You get a monkey with a gun. Yeah. Oh, I forgot about his levels. Oh my gosh. I completely forgot about his levels. And you had the Sparks levels too. Remember the Sparks levels? just like It's like a top-down shooter. Yeah, it's a top-down bullet hell. Or not bullet hell. Like the... ah What is it called? Yeah, where it's top-down, you can spin your character on 360. Yeah, and you have to unlock like different rooms. like You're fighting insects.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, it was... and then like the dragon eggs you find, like there's only like six different models of the dragons. They're all just named differently. There's like one that's a complete weird... He's a complete nerd. He has the glasses. Buck teeth, and his name's Dimitri. It's like, come on! Come on!
Speaker: Yeah, it... ah yeah what't wasn't Yeah, I loved those games, but it was definitely the weaker. 2 is so good, though, Ripto's Rage. i like law There's so many good levels in Ripto's Rage. And then like just like the bosses, like oh so good. Ripto's such a cool character, too. it's such a cool like He controls everyone with his freaking magic staff.
Speaker: Dude, yeah, Ripto was awesome. i Yeah, I absolutely just... I love that second game. All right, so you know what? You've got to make fun of me. gar you know who used to scare me as a kid? Remember in like the opening scene of Spyro 2 when the the flags changed to Ripto's flag? And the castle, they used to scare me as a kid. have no idea why I did it.

I freaking love all three. um I remember when Arkham Asylum was coming out. It was supposed to come out in June. and i had had it pre-ordered from GameStop, and I was so excited. And I went in to get it, and they're like, oh, no, it got delayed until August. i was so freaking mad because it was supposed to come out like the last day of school in 2009. And then it was coming out like two weeks before we went back to school. And I'm like, you've got to be kidding me right now.
Speaker: um But I remember getting Arkham Asylum and being like blown away at like, because I had never experienced like a, like a superhero game like that. Like everyone just like Spider-Man 2 was great. I didn't really play it. but arkham like blew me away i loved batman and that there's so many like you said like the easter eggs in that game but like you see all the characters and just the opening when you're walking around and jokers and like the they have them strapped down and they're like pushing them around that was like creepy it was so creepy and then the the killer croc fight that like i was like stuck on that for like a day i i didn't know how to beat them and i'm like i'm not looking it up online screw that i'm gonna do it myself um
Speaker: And then like that case the final boss when you're like fighting Joker, you have to like take the serum and like he's like all jacked up. Like that like was like so i was like f freaking weird. And then the PS3 had Joker DLC. I don't know if you get you guys remember this.
Speaker: yeah Vaguely. Yeah, the PS3 had like Joker DLC where you like play these like chat remember that least the challenge levels. was like all combat and stuff. You could play as Joker. That was like pretty cool to do. For me, it was like I thought it was awesome. And then remember when night ah ah City came out in 2011. that was like...
Speaker: I thought that was like, that that was like one of the, at the time I was just like one of the greatest games ever. I really, I still really liked city. I think it was awesome. that and That cover just blew me away with the black and white. And then just like running around the city and like, you know, they took over the whole thing. And the opening when you're Bruce Wayne going into like, they're putting you into Arkham city. And like, everyone's like, Hey, playboy, millionaire boy. and um i just like loved it. I thought it was so cool. And then like, um,
Speaker: I remember I did every single thing you can get in City. Like, I had the Platinum in City. And I remember doing every little thing, doing all the challenge rooms and all the challenges, getting all the Riddler trophies. I thought it was so cool.
Speaker: And then Arkham Knight came out. And that even ble blew me away even more. That was one of my most anticipated games. And I think Arkham Knight's great. the The Batmobile combat isn't nearly as prevalent as people remember. Like, it's not that prevalent. You don't do it that much. um and i like the whole idea of like the entire gotham city obviously us ah arkham city had most of gotham but arkham knight includes a lot more of it uh yes hodge the story is very predictable like it was like you could see it coming you knew who red hood was yeah immediately um But I thought the the challenge the challenges in that game were super fun. Calendar Man, you ever like calendar man you go and visit Calendar Man on certain days of the year and like get like stuff changes. like and It changes what he says, which is really cool. The whole two-faced thing where he's like taking over like court. You to go in and like take him down and hold him over a ballot of acid.
Speaker: um Even the DLC, there was DLC pack where you could play as Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl. That was really cool. But yeah, I just love this trilogy. It was so good. It's so a shame, like we like we had said, like that they just completely destroyed it. It's like nothing's left. We got f freaking Suicide Squad killed in Justice League, and that's it.
Speaker: Here. It's over. We had this success over wait this great trilogy. Let's just freaking ruin it. Yeah. Unfortunately, things just don't last forever, you know? And Arkham Knight has the longest trophy season like acquiring a trophy between me getting a trophy and then getting the platinum. I got the second to last trophy I needed in like 2015 when the game came out.
Speaker: And then 2022, November 2022, I got the last trophy that I've been trying. I kept it installed on my PlayStation for seven years. but I would try this trophy like probably a couple times a week to get it. was this for You had to execute 20 different combos in one combo like strand.
Speaker: Like you had to do like 20 different moves in 120. It was like ridiculous. And I remember there was like tricks. You'd be like, oh, pause between combos and like put your hands on the buttons. Never worked for me. And I was trying it over and over And and then randomly, hadn't tried it in like months. I'm like, you know what? It was like a November 22. I'm like, I'm going to boot it up and try it. And I freaking got it. And I was home alone in my house. It was like nine o'clock at night. And I just started yelling and screaming, freaking out. And I opened my door and yelled. I freaking did it. i hear my neighbor yell, shut up.
Speaker: That's great, dude. And then I just shut the door and I, uh, I felt so accomplished though, but it was seven years between trophies. That's nice. she Yeah, man. maybe Neighbor wasn't happening. No, it was not. It was like a random Tuesday night.
Speaker: He's mad that he didn't get the trophy, but I remember that. Yeah. I had it installed for seven years. Nice man. Yeah. Yeah. Not me. Couldn't be me. Uh,
Speaker: I can't, I can't. the Two things I don't mess with. ah Very difficult Platinums I don't mess with. I'm not gonna do it, I'm just move on to the next game. And two is DLC. For some reason, like I almost never play DLC. I don't wanna spend money on small content and and more importantly than that,
Speaker: Usually the DLC comes after I've already moved on. Like i've already beat the game. i've already rolled credits. I've moved on. I'm not going to go back to a game for a small piece of content. So I usually, sadly, I usually miss out on DLC and some of it is great. So that's, that's why a lot of games I don't buy right away. And then I just get like the game of the year edition later on that comes with all the DLC. Cause then I can, and but that's what I did with horizon zero dawn. I waited for it.
Speaker: yeah i waited for I bought the game of the year edition for that game. You know like you know one of my favorite missions in I can't even remember if it was City or Night Now. When the pay phones are ringing and you have to go pick it up and Zaz is like, you got 15 minutes to come find him or he's dying now. And you have to run and the mute intense music is playing. that was that had That had to have been City. I think it was City, yeah.

Speaker: nice and speaking of witcher from my last game it had the greatest dlc of all time for any game with the blood and wine expansion all that shit is peak it's like another 20 hours awesome story so good so good i've heard i've heard nothing but good about that dlc that's for sure let's keep it moving my number two guys is a game that we've already talked about it's bioshock it's so good it's so good Three absolute fucking peak games. Two masterpieces and one nine out of ten. You can't beat it. Bioshock 1, immaculate vibes in Rapture Under the Water. You got this libertarian para libertarian paradise there with, what it what's his name, Andrew Ryan or someone? Andrew Ryan, yeah. Yeah, dude, it's fucking awesome. You know, you got like the little... ah
Speaker: The ending is is very cool. I'll just say i don't want spoil anything. It's awesome, dude. It's so good. And then two, I actually really enjoyed being a big daddy, going around beating people up, you know, protecting the little sisters or whatever. The combat was much improved in And then, of course, Infinite, which Sean will play soon, is awesome out in Cloud City. That's Star Wars, actually. But, you know, in Columbia out there, dude, it's super colorful and bright. It's a very alternate take from Rapture. Rapture is dark, and Columbia is really bright. This Americana. You're like riding the rails, you're shooting people and stuff. Kind of like Sunset Overdrive, huh?
Speaker: No, it's awesome, dude. It's so good. And the story was great, too. um Also, I used to think your companion, I used to think she was pretty cute, too. You know, what was her name? I forget. oh Elizabeth.
Speaker: Yeah, she was cute. But anyway, the game is fucking awesome, dude. It's so good. I can't wait for the next two games, Judas and four. And I hope that they at least somewhat live up to the glory and greatness of Bioshock. Yeah, I can only be I can only be skeptical about four, but I hope it's really good. And we've seen Judas and it looks awesome. So I'm so excited for that one. But Yeah, I hope. I hope. ah Yeah, I hope. I hope they're both great.

This is a game we've discussed, but of course it is, I do think just straight up the best trilogy in video game history. And that is Halo. It is a perfect trilogy. Every game is amazing. i it just, each one's, i think, i don't know if the story gets better. i It's been a hot minute since I've played the campaigns, but I, the stories are all great, but I can't, I think it's, I mean, it's all one story in a, in a sense. So it's, I don't really kind of judge one story over the other, but the gameplay obviously improved in each one. Like I remember when Halo three came out, having like the bubble shield. i actually remember the teaser trailer when he throws down the bubble shield. Yes, that freaking commercial. Speaker: Yeah, it was so epic. Sony pony, you know, it is hilarious. We were talking, you kind of mentioned it earlier of like modern warfare versus Halo three. I remember i bought my 360 in 2007 and I bought both Halo three and call duty and I played way more call duty. I love Halo three. Don't get me wrong, but I was way more to call to the executive was amazing. but call duty is an easier game to play. You only have to land like two bullets to kill someone, which is why I've always been a SWAT fan because I like just doming people in the head and and they're done. But, um,
Speaker: But yeah, it's it's just... It's a ah perfect trilogy. the The story is immaculate. The gameplay is so much fun. I love like the... People complain like, well, the reason why there was the gravity in Halo is because they just weren't good enough to make it go. I'm like, shut up. It's awesome. It's so much fun. When your character ragdolls when you explode, it's hilarious. it's Everything about that game is amazing. It's a real bummer that apparently campaign involves his absolute ass. That's why he can't do it. Wasn't Xenoblade a trilogy? Xenoblade 1, 2, 3? Chronicles? They have Chronicles x in there. is in there and It's a trilogy, but like they the games aren't really related.

The Crash Bandicoot Naughty Dog Trilogy, which is funny because I think the best game in Crash Bandicoot is actually the fourth one, which isn't part of the trilogy, which is hilarious. Yeah. But the Naughty Dog trilogy, is unlike Spyro, I think all three games are um comparably really good.
Speaker: um whereas' inspired I think they get better as they go, I think. I think hotmans i rememberable i think i think i think for me it uh i think three is the weakest but it's not like it's not a huge drop off like it's not like it's not like spyro three like i think crash three the the only reason why i think crash three is a little bit worse than one or two is they gotta they get a little crazy with the vehicles there's a lot of vehicle levels and they get a little crazy with that although flying the plane pretty fun it's not gonna lie but the motorcycle level is not that fun um
Speaker: but no i do yeah i do remember that two was a colossal step up from this first one because the first one was a very on the rails like it was very it was 1985 like yeah it was way different than yeah definitely what two was yeah the the problem so one the remake of one makes one a lot better because in in crash one you know how um in crash me when you spin and get the you know you you get the mask it automatically goes to you yeah in crash one if you like spend spend a max max a mask box you had to go pick up the mask after like it it just sat there yeah like that was like come on and it was a little stiff with the controls it was it was very like almost like blocky it was like it was it was on a 3d plane it was like you want to like you were almost like controlling a 2d plane it was weird um
Speaker: But two, huge step up in two. The level design's awesome. You had the jetpack levels, which are really very different at the time because you weren't you had no vehicles before that. It introduced Coco as a character. It kind of gave you a little bit more story. Introduced Embryo as like a...
Speaker: antagonist but he's helping me with the same time. And then Cortex is tricking you. i just really love these games. I think the whole level design is really cool. Tiny the Tiger, awesome boss. like I freaking love Tiny the Tiger. Really cool. 3 was cool because it like brought you through all the different time periods. And like you had like the the Roman Colosseum when you were fighting Tiny the Tiger where you'd throw lions at you. And then you fight Dingo Dial and like the Polar, which he's like a freaking...
Speaker: pig slash crocodile combined. Dingo dial. And then you had N Trophy, the future man, who's like, you know, they made him as the big baddie, but he's the third boss of the game. It's like, what are you doing here? Crash 3. That was kind of weird. And then you Envin, which you actually fight as Coco in space, which is really cool. No, overall, I just freaking love Crash Bandicoot. Like, it's so much fun. I'm so glad when they made 4, they just retconned everything. Yeah, those games didn't happen. Sorry. They don't exist. Right on.
Speaker: Now I love that they did that. And I i feel like that's how what they're doing with spiral. quality i know Those other games don't exist because the one person did say it is, they want to be a continuation of that OG trilogy. So that's, that makes me a very happy person. It's just that they, I did see that, which it makes sense is that they don't, they don't want it like huge open worlds, but they were like, he flies. So it doesn't make sense that he only glides. Like we want him to be able to fly around. yeah And I'm like, that doesn't make sense. Yeah. Yeah. um Because it was always funny and in the OG trilogy where you'd be flying around in all the cutscenes and then you go to the level and you can only glide. You're constantly going down. It's like, come on. You're flying to these like crazy locations.
Speaker: Yeah, and you'd have to get like superpowers to be able to unlimited fly. But then there's those flying levels where you have to get the rings and then the trains and then the boats. And like you can go up and down at least leisure. It's like, come on.
Speaker: Yeah, so it does make sense. for for that but yeah Yeah, no, i love I do love that, especially just the fact that the name was literally making fun of that, too. It's about time. It's about time we get that fourth game. And shout outs shout out to the running shoes you get in the third game as a power-up. You can just absolutely sprint everywhere. And the bazooka.

Speaker: Great stuff. So funny. All right. So my number one here to bring us home. Now, if you thought my Witcher one was bad where I didn't play two of the games, in this last one, I did not beat any of the games one time.
Speaker: It is the Mass Effect trilogy. It's because I've beaten them all multiple times. hi You see what I did there? Mass Effect, the greatest trilogy of all time.
Speaker: Point blank, period, fact. These are the best trilogy of all times. Absolute immaculate storytelling. Tons of choice and consequence. The story branches... What they do, how they carry over the story is something I haven't seen any other game like ever do. How choices that you make it in the first game will actually affect the third game and how they pay off almost everything.
Speaker: It's so amazing. An amazing cast of characters. Insanely great voice acting. Really fun combat, too, with like the shooting. Especially in 2 and 3, the shooting is solid and you have these cool abilities. like You can throw like gravity balls and energy at people and you can do all kinds of cool stuff, man. There's romance. There's violence. There's, like I said, like there's high stakes going on.
Speaker: ah You get to punch reporters in the face. you can play it's It's great because you can play twice. You can play as a paragon and be the good guy, and then you can play as the renegade, and you get kind of very different stories. mean, the story is still you know but pretty kind of similar, but like the cut scenes that you see will be like completely different. like but He'll just like straight up shoot somebody instead of talk them down and say, it's it's awesome, dude. Dude, I love Mass Effect. It's so good. Everybody needs to play it. Andromeda doesn't exist.
Speaker: Now, Andromeda was was okay, but it's just it's not even close to the level of these first three games. it's so They're so immaculate. Absolute peak. There will never be, in my opinion, another trilogy that's this good.
Speaker: I don't think. So good. And and and the way like I said, the way it continues is something that no game ever really does. It's so good. Love it. Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3. the goats. I will say that is one of the coolest things about the fact that no other game has ever done that where your choices follow over so like meaningfully. like the The closest they ever got after that was Telltale's The Walking Dead and that barely mattered. It's insane that they were able to do that over the course of three games. It's awesome, dude. You still need to play Mass Effect 2, Hodge. I know, I do.
Speaker: But, ah oh my God, it's so good. Somebody was playing Mass Effect 2 in the Discord recently it was like, oh my God, this is so good. They got Martin Sheen doing the voice of the, the ah I can't remember his name now.

Speaker: Yeah, what you guys haven't played you haven't played it either, Sean. The Elusive Man, the Elusive Man, yeah. ah du He was great. Everyone's great. So good. One of these days I need to go back and replay it and actually play as FemShep because I've said this before. I've never never once played as FemShep for some reason. Even though I've beaten both games like three, four, or five times each, I've just always picked Maleship. But apparently, you know, FemShep is supposed to be really good, really great voice acting. So maybe one of these days I'll actually give her a try.

And knowing that the second and third are better, just I mean, I've played like I said, I played like five or six hours or two. It's just I got busy with other stuff and I had to put it down. And I do not like, as I said before, I do not like going back to games that I've already started. I have to restart the game. I cannot just pick up the controller and hop yeah into a game. Mostly because I always forget half the controls. But. Also, I don't, I want to remember the story. And if I jump in and be like, oh, we got to go kill Bob. It's like, who the fuck Bob? Like, why are we killing him? Shout out to Bob, dude. Yeah. vin

Speaker: ah so You guys got some? Sky Trilogy. Sky Trilogy. Trilogy. Baldur's Gate trilogy is an honorable mention for me because I've only played three, so I didn't include it, although I did for Witcher.
Speaker: Dragon Age also. There you go. Like I said, the Final Fantasy one will be in there. already know it will be. So it was an honorable mention in that sense because I was like, I know it's going to be in the top. So... yeah, like little big planet, even though I never played the third one, I loved the first two. And so I kind of, I thought of that one too. Same with tomb Raider. I didn't play the third one, but I thought of the first two and, Yeah, there's a lot of, and then obviously the greatest trilogy of all time, Last of Us, Last of Us Remastered, and Last of Us Part 1. Great, great trilogy. Facts. Three 10 out of 10 games. Exactly. Very similar, though. Very similar. Yeah, I don't think the choices carry over in those games. A little repetitive. Yeah, a little samey, but yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: yeah They didn't carry over, actually, because like whatever I did in the first one didn't matter at all. It's like the same story unfolded. Like, why? Didn't I already do this? yeah Yeah. And she's dead again. oh crazy.
Speaker: Spoilers. But you don't know who she is. Anyway, ah you know, shout out to Bioware. Bioware has three goaded trilogies with an asterisk. Mass Effect, best of all time. Dragon Age, one of the best of all time. And you could even say KOTOR kind of has a trilogy. You have KOTOR, KOTOR 2, which was Obsidian, and then ah Star Wars The Old Republic from Bioware, the MMO. The Dragon Age trilogy was so good. It it wasn't even on its list.
Speaker: It was an honorable mention. I didn't want to include too much Bioware. um And plus, Veil Guard sucked. Well, it didn't suck, but comparatively speaking, it fucking sucked. I hate Tosh. Fuck you, Tosh. Get out Anyway, so why don't we go around do our final thoughts, boys, shall we?

I mean, if you haven't played the Bioshock trilogy, you're absolutely insane. You have to play those games. Like, I mean, I would love to say Spyro, but I know platformers aren't everyone's cup of tea. But Bioshock is amazing game and amazing story. So, you yeah everyone needs to play Bioshock. For sure. Facts. Facts. I agree. Sean, who who whose house are you visiting and forcing them to play what game? You've got 15 minutes, Batman. Go play Nickelodeon Kart Races 1 through 3. Nickelodeon car racers. Awesome.
