Summer Heat and Vacation Plans

00:00:40
Speaker
And welcome everybody. This is Games Over Plastic, episode number 69. Nice. Nice. nice I am Midnight, once again joined by my amazing co-host Sean Mason. How you doing, sir?
00:00:55
Speaker
ah Well, this is take three. so that's that's how we're that's how we're doing today. um I'm on summer vacation. It's going great. I'm really enjoying myself, which has been brutally hot here, like multiple hundred degree days in a row.
00:01:09
Speaker
um Like when you walk outside, it's like hitting a freaking wall. It's like the Sahara Desert. m Gotcha. Yeah, it's spreading pretty hot here, too, in Texas. Honestly, I just try to stay inside, you know.
00:01:22
Speaker
No, I don't. I like the outside. i got a i got I can't go outside. It's too hot. I'll die. I was i was at the beach yesterday. It was awesome. Oh, nice. Yeah, you got your summer break.
00:01:34
Speaker
Hope you enjoy that. You're going to play a lot of games, I bet. Of course. I actually already played. I actually was ah three days ago. i booted up Super Mario 64 and did 120 stars run of it. Did it like three and a half hours.
00:01:48
Speaker
Wow. And then I ranked all those Mario 64 stages. um Tiny, huge islands. the You know that the land where you're like you can either be huge or you can be small and you go in the pipes and get big. That's the worst stage in that game.
00:02:03
Speaker
Is it? It is. by like The more I play it, the more I'm like, I freaking hate this stage. Yeah, I don't. It's been so long since I played that game. I played it back on the N64, like in the 90s or whatever. So I don't really remember much about it. I remember the castle with the paintings and stuff. um I remember like this mountain or hill or something that had like the little chain dudes on the chain that bite at you and stuff. Oh, the chain jumps. That's yeah, that's the that's stage one. It's bomb bomb battlefield.
00:02:31
Speaker
Yeah, I don't remember a whole lot of it, though, but I did beat the game and I loved it. It was as a class. Did you get all 120 Oh, I didn't try to, so I'm sure I didn't. You didn't beat it. Just like Octopath 2, you didn't beat it. Uh-oh. All right, we're back. Sean, technical difficulties with his internet.
00:02:49
Speaker
We had him turn off his camera to see if that will help. So he only has to do your voice, right, Sean? Correct. Correct. We'll see how that goes. We'll just put a ah cool picture up for you guys. But ah Sean is here and that's the important thing.
00:03:04
Speaker
Yeah. So speaking of playing games, you know, you're on

Introduction to Games Over Plastic Podcast

00:03:08
Speaker
your break. That's what today's topic is for. We're going to be talking about our five backlog games that we're going to play next that we're excited to play and why we're excited to play them. I'm looking forward to that.
00:03:21
Speaker
Yeah, I have a list of five games. some right up Some right up my alley, as always. I bet you the audience can probably guess what some of them are. Well, the genre that they are. And some different types of games. So we'll see.
00:03:37
Speaker

00:04:27
Speaker
Please do it. and Do it. And by the way, Kind of a random topic here, but you know, I want to mention that our co-host, third co-host, of course, Hodge is unfortunately not here today. He's

Shoutout to Co-host Hodge and Final Fantasy Magic Cards

00:04:40
Speaker
out of town. He had a trip, but Hodge is here in spirit. I want to give a shout out to Hodge because he sent me some of these Final Fantasy magic cards, including my favorite one right here, Sean. This is my favorite one. I don't know if you can see it, but this is Aerith and Yuffie.
00:04:56
Speaker
ah i love I love this one. This one's great. It's got my two favorite girls from the from the from the game, especially Aerith. Aerith is is waifu.
00:05:08
Speaker
Sean, you've been having some internet issues, unfortunately, but we're back. We are back. Yeah, this is what happens when you ah buy your stuff at Kmart, I guess. Yeah, Kmart. There you go. Yeah, you have Comcast? I didn't know that. I thought you had Verizon.
00:05:23
Speaker
My old house had Verizon. Ah, you can't get Verizon there? No, Verizon's not in this area, unfortunately. Nah, damn you, Comcast. I know, right? All right.
00:05:34
Speaker
We have

Gaming Plans: From Uncharted 2 to Mother 3

00:05:35
Speaker
commies. As anyone watching the video can tell, there's no cameras anymore. you but You might have cameras for the intro there, maybe, but no more cameras. We're doing audio only for the rest of this episode to hopefully save Sean's internet the strain. And hopefully we'll be able to get through this awesome list of games that we're going to talk about.
00:05:53
Speaker
And I say we get right into it What do you think? Yeah, let's get right into it. Let's do it. All right. So as I mentioned, we're doing our five next games from the backlog that we're going to play. Now, I don't have mine actually in a set order. Did you do yours in an order?
00:06:08
Speaker
I didn't do mine in an order. I just kind of had five games. Okay, cool. Yeah, because I don't know what order, you know. With the backlog, it's always like you just look at them you just whatever's pulling on you. Spur the moment. Spur the moment. Exactly. Alright, so let's go ahead and get into it. So I'll go first with my fifth game, even though again they're not in order. And it's going to be Uncharted 2. That's right.
00:06:33
Speaker
It's one that I know everybody's been excited about wanting me to play because, you know, I haven't played the Uncharted games really. i didn't finish Uncharted 1. I didn't really enjoy it much.
00:06:43
Speaker
So I think it's because it just felt kind of outdated and I don't know. I just wasn't feeling it. So I watched a, you know, story summary for one and I'm just going to play two and three. That's the plan. So supposedly those are much better.
00:06:57
Speaker
Yeah, they are. 2 and 3 is a huge, huge jump. 2 in particular, you see like a huge, huge jump. and it It had that ah that effect where you know back in the PS3 era, they had the ah the sequel a sql effect where it was like, oh, the sequel is so much better. It's like one's good, but the second one's even better.
00:07:18
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, so I'm looking forward to that. You know, i recently I bought the ah the third Tomb Raider game. um What is it? Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I think? Yeah. On Steam. It was on sale. And, you know I'm actually kind of excited to play that because I never played it.
00:07:32
Speaker
But I thought to myself, if I play Shadow of the Tomb Raider before I play Uncharted 2, like, I'm going to get lynched. Like, everybody's going to come for my for my head. You know and I mean? ah So I got to play Uncharted first. So Uncharted 2 from Naughty Dog. That's going to be...
00:07:48
Speaker
One of the next games that I play on the backlog and I'm excited. I'm excited. it's Solid pick. Solid pick. The Adventures of Drake Nathan. Started from the bottom. Now we're here. since this Yep.
00:08:03
Speaker
You love this game, right? Yeah, this game's great. Phenomenal. Not my favorite Uncharted, ah but like I think 2, 3, and 4 are all like so good. like They're all... like Any given day, you could put them in any order, but if I had to like order them, to would for me, it goes 4, 3, 2, 1, which is kind of funny.
00:08:23
Speaker
Reverse order there. yeah All right. Nice. Nice. yeah All right, Sean, how about you? What's your first game? All right. My first game in honor of, uh, midnight it's runescape. Obviously, um, gotta play the runescape game. Oh yeah. ah No, definitely not runescape. Um, no, my first game is a game that was never released in the United States. So I have been waiting for this game to get a modern port to the United States for since like 2004, basically.
00:08:52
Speaker
two thousand and four basically Um, and i was hoping when they released back in like 2016 they released earthbound beginnings which was a game that we never got over here which is like the the it's the first game of like the the earthbound series they they called it in japan it's called mother um but here it's called earthbound and we got earthbound on the snes but we never got the first one um And they eventually released it for Wii on the Wii U Virtual Console. So I was always hoping we'd get Mother 3, which we never got, which is a GBA game. So I have come to the conclusion that I'm just going to bite the bullet. And I actually bought a cartridge that has the ROM hack of um Mother 3 that you can actually just throw in your Game Boy Advance and play it. And it English fan translation. So that is what I'm going to be doing. Mother 3.
00:09:48
Speaker
Wow. Yes. Interesting. Okay. That's, that's definitely not one that I would have ever guessed. Yeah, no, because I really love Earthbound. And like I enjoyed Earthbound Beginnings, but you can definitely see it has its like early, like late 1980s, early 1990s JRPG-ness. So yeah, I'm going Mother 3. It should be good. I've heard tremendous things about it, like that if you like Earthbound, this is like even better. So yeah, going with first Mother 3.
00:10:19
Speaker
Or Earthbound 3 if it was a release here. All right. Good pick. Good pick. you know I've never played ah any of the Earthbound games, so don't know much about them. But ah all right.
00:10:32
Speaker
Moving on then. So my next game, Sean, let's see. I'm going to go with some Weebery here. Here we go. For balance. I have Shin Megami Tensei Vengeance.
00:10:45
Speaker
Okay. I played it. I played it about a year ago around this time. Okay. Nice. You played the Vengeance one. Yep, I put the Vengeance one. Yeah, this is good. Nice. Yeah, I got this recently on Steam. I believe it was on a nice little sale, so I picked it up. You know, it's got full controller support. That's all I do. I don't use keyboard and mouse anymore. I used to.
00:11:04
Speaker
But nowadays, you know, I play on Steam, but I use my ah my Xbox controller. it It's basically like a console. So I'm going to be playing that on ah on the glorious PC Master Race 4K.
00:11:15
Speaker
Looking forward to that. I hope that... I hope I'm ready for this game, Sean, because, you know, this this is like more a lot more hardcore than Persona, right? Oh, yeah. this is The SMT games are way more hardcore. And i'm I'm a little worried for you because the story is not like the Persona games are so much about story. And SMT games are not like story. Like the story's there, but it's not like Persona where it's very like...
00:11:40
Speaker
Over your head, it's very like, this is the main purpose of the story. And this is much more combat focused and much more hardcore. So who knows? Maybe I won't actually like it. We'll see. yeah I'm a little worried. I'm a little worried for you. I'm a little worried for myself, too. But we'll find out. you I'm going to at least give it the good college try. you know yeah

Exploring New Games: Shin Megami Tensei and Yakuza 6

00:11:58
Speaker
We'll see how it goes. The combat is awesome. The combat is awesome. um And the know it's very grindy. I will tell you that. It is very grindy.
00:12:08
Speaker
Okay. Well, I'm going to give it a good shot. We'll see how it goes. you know I'll put in at least, i don't know, like 10 hours, 15 hours, and then we'll see if I'm feeling it. ah But I hope I like it, because I've never played any of the Shin Megami Tensei games, really. I did play very briefly. I had Shin Megami Tensei 4 on the 3DS, and i was like I was pretty excited to play that. I like, oh, it's a cool brand new game for my 3DS. But I barely played it at all. like and I was doing a little bit of dungeon diving, and I just wasn't feeling it. Yeah.
00:12:37
Speaker
I think this is the best SMT game, though. This is definitely the best of them. Of the ones I've played. i've played I've played a lot of them, but I think this is the best one. Okay, awesome. Well, what else is awesome? What's your next game, Sean?
00:12:51
Speaker
All right, well, I'm going to stick with Atlas. Okay. So here we go. And I'm going to go with... metaphor re-fantasio this is a game i never played i always i i picked it up upon release but never played it and i know um i feel like this is the game that everyone talked about when it came out but now i feel like nobody talks about it anymore yeah they don't it's it's it's interesting isn't it right maybe this game didn't resonate with people that much because nobody ever mentions it
00:13:21
Speaker
Yeah, it was like the talk of the town when it came out. i'll never I remember it was October 2024. Everyone was talking about it. Everyone's like, oh, yeah, it's so good. It's so good. and then it just kind of like went away. um And I meant to play it earlier, but I just never got around to it. And as we know, I like Atlas, but I'm not the biggest Atlas guy. um But I own it. So I'm like, why not give it ah give it a try, play it around. And yeah, so metaphor re Fantasio.
00:13:48
Speaker
All right. Yeah. Metaphor that, yeah, I own this game as well, Sean. I actually played it a while back. I was like, yeah, I'm going to finally play this game. And I got like a little far, I don't know, like six hours maybe. And I, I just, I set it down. I was like, I'm not really feeling this.
00:14:04
Speaker
One of the things that turned me off and this is a uniquely midnight problem. I don't think, I don't think normal people will have this issue is I, I really didn't like the English male characters voice. Um,
00:14:17
Speaker
it's it's quite zesty, I'll just say. And I just didn't, I wasn't feeling it because I'm like, I can't put myself in this character's shoes, you know, talking like this. What I might do is when I go back, I might try switching to the Japanese dub.
00:14:29
Speaker
See if that's better for me because the game itself was all right. Like the story was ramping up like some some big events happens. I'm not gonna spoil it for you, obviously, but it was kind of cool. But I just I don't know. I wasn't vibing with the the voice acting and I just kind of drifted away. But I do plan one of these days. I am going to go back and play that game, too, because I don't know. I just feel like it needs to be played. It looks awesome. You know?
00:14:52
Speaker
Yeah, that's exactly why i want to want to get to it. All right. There we go. The Atlas Brothers. All right. Moving on here. Let's get some ah some Western greatness in here. No, no, no, no, no. We'll save the Western greatness. One more Weebery game, kind of.
00:15:08
Speaker
Weebery adjacent, Sean. Is this Weebery? Yakuza 6. Yeah, this is Weebery. It's kind of Weebish. I yeah mean, it's in Japan. so It's not really Weebish. I mean, it's not anime at all.
00:15:20
Speaker
But anyway, it's in Japan. So Yakuza 6, right? This game, you know, I'm doing my journey, right? You know, I've been doing the journey. I'm trying to get all the way caught up. I played Yakuza 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 0, of course. um So now ah it's a time for six. Yakuza 6, the song of life. I'm really looking forward to this one. This is one that I think the fans did like. I think it was pretty well reviewed. ah It's kind of like sort of the end of Kiryu's story, although he you know you get a little bit more of him in the other games, but not much. So I'm really excited.
00:15:52
Speaker
And once I beat this game, not only will it be great and I'm going to have a great time, but then I'll be up to the modern games. I'll be able to play Gaiden, the man who erased his name, right? And then finally, Sean, I'll be able to get to Yakuza Animal Planet.
00:16:06
Speaker
ah Infinite Wealth, right? And then once I play... Yeah, and like we talked about, once I play Yakuza... infinite wealth, like a dragon, infinite wealth. And I greatly experienced the animal planet side story there. We're going to do our animal planet spoiler cast.
00:16:23
Speaker
of course. Yeah. You'll talk about animal planet and I'll talk about Yakuza. Oh yeah. It will totally make sense. Yeah. It'll make the most sense ever. Yeah. So Yakuza six, the song of life is definitely going to be getting played soon for me. I'm looking forward to it.
00:16:39
Speaker
I do like Yakuza. I like RGG. Can't wait for stranger than Tupac. I still can't believe that's a real thing. It's going great, man. It's going to be awesome. I can't believe that's a real thing.
00:16:52
Speaker
What do you think about Yakuza 6, Sean? I think you'll enjoy it. i mean, you like the Yakuza game, so I think that's definitely a game you will enjoy. I will. I will enjoy it.
00:17:03
Speaker
um You've never played any of them, I don't think. No, I've never played any of them. Are you ever going to play any of them? I don't know. Maybe. You might like ah you know the new ones that are like JRP turn-based like style. Yeah, like a dragon or I probably would.
00:17:17
Speaker
Yeah, you could play like a dragon or yeah even an infinite wealth if you wanted to. um But anyway, Yakuza 6, Song of Life. That's my number three game. ah Sean, you go ahead with your next one whenever you're ready. All right.
00:17:30
Speaker
My number three game is a game. That came out for the Xbox 360. It was an Xbox 360 exclusive. Oh, okay. Hold on. Let me guess. Let me guess. Let me guess.
00:17:42
Speaker
Xbox 360. I'm trying to remember the name because I own this game. It's a JRPG, right? It is. Okay. There's a couple of them, but I'm going to think you're going to go with the one that's kind of like Final Fantasy 15. I've already played that one. I've already played that one.
00:17:57
Speaker
Oh, Yes. Okay, well, I don't remember then. i can't remember, and AI's not doing me justice, so you go ahead. Oh, that's great. you go great You're using AI. Well, i just I'm using search, and AI's built in. i know, I know, I know. um It is Blue Dragon. That's what it was. I forgot. Yes, Blue Dragon. I've played Lost Odyssey. The Lost Odyssey is great. I have already played that, though. But yes, I'm going with Blue Dragon here.
00:18:23
Speaker
um Game I've never played. i was, you know, not going lie, you know, back in the day, you know, when I had the PS3, I was a little jealous of this of my Xbox 360 brethren who got to play this game because it reminded me so much of... um Dragon Quest, like the way it looked and the way it was designed.
00:18:47
Speaker
So I was so jealous of that and it looks so cool. So I decided to boot it up. you know, um Claire owns Blue Dragon. So I'm going to be getting her copy and busting out the old Xbox 360 and playing it on that.
00:19:03
Speaker
Oh, wow. You're not going to play it on Series X? is it it use backwards i Is it? I don't even know. I think it is. I'll look it up. You keep them talking. We'll see. right. Yeah. So I'm going to go with Blue Dragon. I think the art style looks so cool. It reminds me of like Dragon Quest, like that art style. So and I've heard such good things about this game that it's one of those games that we just like Xbox fans are always like, we need to bring back Blue Dragon. um So, yeah, I and um yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
00:19:33
Speaker
Yeah, i mean, that game does look cool. um I did look it up and it says Blue Dragon is fully backwards compatible with the Series X. all right, so maybe I don't have to bust the old 360. It says you can insert the physical disc and you can just play it. And it also says it may offer enhanced performance features such as higher frame rates and resolution.
00:19:50
Speaker
All right, all right. So yeah, I probably would just play it on Series X unless you feel like going full nostalgia. um Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Probably just use the Series acts Might be a little easier. Yeah.
00:20:01
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. So Blue Dragon, didn't that have Kira Toriyama art in that game? I'm pretty sure it did, because it looks just like it. I'm not really... Yeah, it definitely looks Toriyama-ish. I wonder if he worked on that game. I feel like he might have.
00:20:16
Speaker
but It looks just like Dragon Quest, so... Yeah. That's cool. Yeah, that was when ah when Xbox was truly great during the 360 era. That was their one amazing console generation. one ah One of the most magical generations of all time. And yeah, they really tried a little bit to get the Japanese fans on board with those paid exclusives, which sucks you know for for people who didn't have the 360. But yeah, they had Lost Odyssey, right? And Blue Dragon and a couple others. There was like a Tales game, right? That was exclusive. Yeah, it was it eventually came to a PlayStation, but yeah. Yeah. So they tried, but it just it didn't really work out in Japan. Even the 360 couldn't do it in Japan. So it is what it is, you know?
00:20:55
Speaker
Japan, you know they support their local companies and and who can blame them? Most of the games that they like are on those local company consoles too. oh yeah And they really like handhelds there too. Like the Switch is massive over there. They love their handheld gaming.
00:21:08
Speaker
oh All right. Good stuff, man. Good stuff. I'm excited to hear what you think about that one. I want to play Lost audience Odyssey one of these days. Oh, Lost Odyssey is so good. It is so good.
00:21:19
Speaker
Yeah, I own it. on I got it on it on a sale on the Series X and I got to play it one day. Yes. All right. And speaking of games that I have to play and quite literally, I have to play this game, Sean, because it was a gift from you on our secret

Paper Mario vs Bug Fables

00:21:36
Speaker
Santa. You remember what it was, right?
00:21:39
Speaker
You remember what you gave me? No, I don't actually. You don't? Okay, I can just play whatever I want then. Yeah, you can play whatever you want. It was Bug Fables, Sean. Oh, Bug Fables. Yes, Bug Fables. Now, I'm hoping I'm going to like this because, you know, wasn't feeling Paper Mario. I'm a little worried because you like Paper Mario, so I'm a little worried.
00:21:58
Speaker
Yeah, well, you know, I like story and character. Story and characters. The story's much, much better, I think, in Bug Fables. Hmm. Okay. All right. Cool. um Yeah, I think I'm going to, I hope I'm going to like it, especially since I looked it up and it's like a 25 hour game. So it's not like super short. So yeah hopefully it's not 25 hours of me not enjoying myself. That would suck. But I think I'll probably like it. If you don't like it after a little bit, I'll i'll let you off the hook. No, no, no. I can't do that. I'm not going to, I'm not Hodge. Okay. I'm not going to just not play the game you gave me because I don't like it. That's not fair. well If you don't like it, you go back. You have to get the one hundred percent ending of a Octopath 2. How's that?
00:22:33
Speaker
No, no, no. I can't beat that final boss, dude. Yes, you can. You can do it You put your mind to it. No, no, no. But I am playing Star Ocean Second Story R right now, and I beat one of the optional field bosses.
00:22:44
Speaker
um Yeah, it is really good. I think I'm at the ending, Sean. ah they're They're acting like this is the final mission. like they're they've They've been giving me like you know finish everything up vibes. So I might be at the ending here. I'm going to be taking out the last seven. That's all I'll say.
00:22:58
Speaker
I think I'm at the ending. We'll see. um But anyway, Bug Fables is the game that Sean gave me. Obviously, I'm not an expert on this game, but I looked it up. It appears to be a JRPG where you're playing with these lovable bug characters. Yes, it is so good.
00:23:13
Speaker
And it's turn-based, but it has like some action prompts, I believe, is what I read, right? Yep, it does. Similar to Expedition 33 and Paper Mario. Yes. So, yeah, hopefully it'll be fun, man. I'm looking forward to it. but the combat The combat's pretty deep, too. I think it it's deeper than Paper Mario.
00:23:30
Speaker
Yeah, Paper Mario combat was very simple. Like, yeah, it did have button props, but they were like, first of all it was it felt very repetitive and they were just like very easy, basic button props, you know? it But anyway, ah Bug Fables will be played, Sean. There you go.
00:23:45
Speaker
Just for you, my friend. I hope you love it. I hope I do, too. I hope I do, too. So that's my number four game. bug fables what's yours all right my number four game is megaman x2 oh wow so i'm a big megaman fan like i love the original megaman like love megaman one through um seven and eight are all right and then nine and ten are just the when you know the ones they released in 2009 2010 that were like the eight bit megaman like those are freaking bangers And I like Mega Man 11 as well, which not not as much as the other ones. lose more so It was different. But Mega Man X, I played the first one, liked it, but it definitely didn't grab me like the original Mega Man games. So I play it so i need to play through the rest of the X series. So i'm going to start with Mega Man X 2.
00:24:41
Speaker
And we're going to go from there because I do own the X collection.

Mega Man X Series Exploration

00:24:44
Speaker
I bought it when it came out because I'm like, oh, this is a great way to play, you know, Mega Man X. Um, So I'm going to go with the Mega Man X series because, again, I love Mega Man. I think it's great. like i I think there's such a cool concept, like defeat all these bosses, get the power-ups, and use them to defeat other bosses. I think that's such a cool idea. And they were like, obviously, we see it now in other types games, too. But I think it was just a cool concept. So, yeah, I'm going with the Mega Man X series, basically.
00:25:15
Speaker
Okay. Good stuff. Good stuff. ah You know, this may surprise people, and maybe not, but I don't know if I've ever really played a Mega Man game much. Surely I must have. I must have played a little bit on the n NES for sure, but I've never really got into them. You know, it's it's like a side scroller where you're like shooting out of your arm and you're platforming. Right.
00:25:34
Speaker
and You fight bosses. Yes. Yeah. I remember something like that. Yeah. You can go in any order you want. You can choose which. But there's like an order you're supposed to do because like you get one power up and that's like that's one boss's weakness. And then you get that power up and use that. Use that against the other boss, that like his weakness. So there's there's like you can look up orders to do it in.
00:25:56
Speaker
But yeah, it's like I love, like I said, I i love Mega Man. So I'm hoping X2 grabs me more than X1. I'm not saying X1 was bad. I liked it. I enjoyed it. Just not nearly as much as the original Mega Man series.
00:26:10
Speaker
Well, you know what they say, Sean? X going to give it to you. Yes, he is. You found out he was dead on a podcast. I remembered that he was dead on a podcast. Yeah. um Yeah. Rest in peace, DMX.
00:26:24
Speaker
Yeah, I know. Even though that was like years ago. Years ago, yeah. We're still mourning. so But yeah, I hope you enjoy that game, Sean. That'll be fun. um Good choice. All right. That's a classic. I'm sure call in Colin would appreciate that one. and and He's more of an original Mega Man guy. Maddie likes Mega Man Yeah.
00:26:43
Speaker
m yeah So Matty approved. There you go. Yes. Yes. Can't go wrong with that. All right. Well, of course not. So before we get into our final game, why don't we do one honorable mention? And the honorable mention is going to be a new game, a new game that's either just come out or about to come out that we're excited to get to. Oh, okay. I already got mine. I got mine too. My honorable mention, which is a new game, is going to be the game that I'm probably going to be playing this weekend, Sean, after I finish Second Story R.
00:27:14
Speaker
And do you know what that is? do you have a guess? Just came out. Just came out like like like just came out like AC Black Flag. Very imminently. Yes. Black Flag. Exactly. Imminently. The game that came out in 2013.
00:27:26
Speaker
Yeah. The the remake but of ah Assassin's Creed Black Flag resynced. You know, I never finished Black Flag. So this is going great for me. um So I'm going to get to replay it and actually finish it this time. and the renake break Does the bring back the modern day stuff as well?
00:27:43
Speaker
You know, I heard that they cleaned up the modern day stuff a lot. I think that they removed and cleaned up a lot of it. I don't know for sure, though. I think they replaced a bunch of that modern day shit. Because people weren't fans of the modern day.
00:27:55
Speaker
Yeah, i I mean, that's why they got rid of it. Yeah. So, yeah, I don't think it has much modern day. I'll tell you when I play it and and finish it. I don't know for sure. But I watched Lock Mort's video. Shout out to Lock. Everybody should go check out Lock's channel. Lock Plays, or I think that's what it is. But, yeah, he did a nice little video about the game. I'm looking forward to it. might even get the Platinum, Sean. I'm going to to get the Platinum.
00:28:18
Speaker
So there you go. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resync. I'm excited to get some pirating in. How about you? right, my game also just came out just on Steam. It's going be coming out on PlayStation and Xbox in August. and Are you ready for this? And that is the brand new backyard baseball game that they released. They released a brand new one. We all know how much I love those backyard sports games. And this, and from everything I'm reading, it's f freaking like amazing. People are saying it's like,
00:28:48
Speaker
It's the return of the peak backyard baseball. So I cannot freaking wait for this game. It looks so good. And I own it on Steam. I'm to buy it on PlayStation when it comes out on PlayStation 2. But I'm going to boot it up and I'm gonna play it later. I cannot freaking wait play this game.
00:29:05
Speaker
All right. That is a Sean game for sure. I love that. Pablo Sanchez, Pete Wheeler. Let's go. All right. Can't beat that. oh you can't. All right. So let's go ahead and get back to it here, Sean, for our final, our ultimate game that we are excited to play.

CRPG Excitement: Pathfinder and Rugrats Gaming Nostalgia

00:29:25
Speaker
And I did save the one that maybe I'm the most excited for for last, but I don't actually know. And it's some Western greatness for me. Okay.
00:29:33
Speaker
This is a CRPG on the PC. Full controller support though, so that's great. This is from Alcat Games, a studio that I have hyped up quite a bit, despite the fact that I've never played one of their games. So that's a bit awkward. But just because I've heard and seen so much from their games, and I know Locke and other people hype up and love their games. So I'm just like, this is a great studio, even though I haven't experienced I'm going to experience now.
00:29:58
Speaker
I purchased Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous Enhanced Edition on Steam on a nice little summer sale. It was like $5. You can't beat that, Sean. And this game's going to be awesome. Like 60, 70, 80, 100 hours. Experience a realm overrun by demons.
00:30:15
Speaker
ah in this in this game. It's kind of got like D&D type ah controls, I think. So that's a bit intimidating because I'm to have to learn the whole system, kind of like Baldur's Gate 3. You have to learn the system that it's based on a bit. But it's going to be good. It has...
00:30:31
Speaker
Partial voice acting, so it's not fully voice acted. I'm going to to do reading, Sean, which I don't mind. i don't mind reading. I just prefer when the main stuff is voice acted. But anyway, a little bit of reading, and I'm be making lots of choices, and hopefully I'm going to have a fun a fun time. Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous. Can't wait. All right. That sounds good.
00:30:52
Speaker
Yeah. I know you're excited about that one. you've never absolutelyly Have you ever played a CRPG? Did you play BG3? I played Baldur's Gate 3, yeah. I like Baldur's Gate. You beat it?
00:31:03
Speaker
Yeah. Okay, yeah. Baldur's Gate 3 was awesome.
00:31:08
Speaker
All right, then. How about you? What is your final game, Sean? All right. My final game that is on the backlog is a game that isn't Western greatness.
00:31:23
Speaker
And we'll say it's not even JRPG greatness. Oh. It is a Nickelodeon type game. Okay. So that's Western greatness. That's Western greatness. Kind of. it's You know, kind of. And Sean, please tell us about your final game, and Nickelodeon. My final game. Yep. It's a Nickelodeon game. It is the Rugrats Retro Rewind Collection. Oh. This game came out in May. This has six Rugrats games all in one. Some of these Rugrats games are f freaking bangers. I haven't played all of them. I played. Okay. So the best one on here is called Rugrats Search for Reptile. It's an old PS1 game. It was f freaking awesome.
00:32:00
Speaker
Me and my sister would play this game all the time. like It's a banger. um Then they have the Rugrats the movie game, which I actually never played the Rugrats movie game. and I'm a big Rugrats fan, but I never played the movie game.
00:32:13
Speaker
And then Rugrats Time Traveler. was never heard of this game. And then they have a 32-bit called Rugrats Studio Tour, and you're exploring like a movie studio. um And there's like this like Sherlock Holmes kind of like ripoff called Shirleylock Holmes. ah And then they have the Rugrats in Paris, the movie game, which I did play, which is a great game. And then rug rock Rugrats Castle Capers, which is about... stew pickles who's tommy pickles dad who's the main character um has like a new job and um you're trying to like kind of like help him out with his job yeah all right well very fitting very fitting that we would have a nicktoons game here at the end i love it sean always have to have a nicktoons game you got to retro rewind collection huh yeah did they get permission from maddie to use that term
00:33:03
Speaker
i yeah I have no idea. They they better roofof I hope so, yeah, or else there's going to be a big lawsuit here. All right. So there we go. Let's go ahead and for the audio listeners, let's go ahead and recap our games. sean you want to start us off?
00:33:16
Speaker
Yeah, I'll start off with mine. I got Mother 3, Metaphor Re-Fantasio, Blue Dragon, Mega Man X2, Backyard Baseball is my honorable mention. that's like the newer game.
00:33:31
Speaker
And then Rugrats Retro Rewind Collection. All right. And then for me, I had Uncharted 2, Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance, Yakuza 6 The Song of Life, Bug Fables, AC Black Flag Resync was my new honorable mention, and then Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous. And these are some great games, huh?
00:33:55
Speaker
12 great games, I would say. ah Yeah, so we got we got a nice mix too. We got some Western greatness. We got some Weebery. We got some samma you know good variety. Good variety, I would say.
00:34:10
Speaker
And we just love games. you know I'm looking forward to it. Sean, I don't have ah the summer off, but I do have a four-day weekend, and I'm excited about that. So going to be chilling and doing some gaming. I'm going to finish Star Ocean's Second Story R today, like I said.
00:34:26
Speaker
and And then it's going to be on to some pirate adventures, man. Arr. Arr. You just can't go wrong with it. ah which Which game you think you're going hop into first? Do you know?
00:34:37
Speaker
Um... Obviously, you're not you're not forced to abide by this. it could change. Probably Blue Dragon. Probably Blue Dragon. cause That's what you're feeling? Yeah, I'm feeling that. Okay, okay. I really want to play Pathfinder, but it's like so big that I might just hop do something smaller like Uncharted or something. Uncharted or Yakuza is probably going my next.
00:34:57
Speaker
So we'll see. All right. Well, that's I think that's about it. We can go and get on and get on out of here. This be a short episode due to internet issues and Hodge not being in here. um What do you think? you what are You got any final thoughts or anything else you want to get to, Sean?
00:35:12
Speaker
No, I'm just, you know, um go out and play some Nicktoons Tennis. The game's the best tennis game out there right now. It's better than Mario Tennis. So go out and play some Nicktoons Tennis. There you go. It's not hard to be better than Mario Tennis, though, is it? Of course it's not, no.
00:35:26
Speaker
They got stick to platformers and racers. And I guess they have a lot of good games, don't they? Mario baseball. Where's the new Mario baseball? and Honestly, you're you're preaching to the choir, bud.
