Jarrod Dyke: All right, well, we're starting off the year kind of weird. we're going because the draft is ah Because the league starts on the Thursday, we're trying to get our drafts organized. So we're doing draft 15. And of course, once again, i have the legendary Fantasy Rugby Geek George join me.
George: Mr. Jared Dyke, it's a pleasure to be here. Looking forward to giving DraftXV a go as well.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, this will be this will be good. I mean, that we did the beta test last year. I'm going start on the draft now.
George: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. yeah
George: And we're on. We're on.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, there we are.
George: That's the glorious thing. They can wait for you. You're the commish. You've got all the power.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, that was that was the upside.
George: You can start the draft.
Jarrod Dyke: Because, um yeah, i was ah I was trying to get onto this. i was trying to usher my my son and wife out the door.
George: Oh yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: You know how much of a shit show that can be.
George: Oh, I know.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: i know exactly. I can relate to that. Right. Okay. So players are flying off the board already.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah I think ah think you hit on it, and just as we as we go through this, think you hit on it in your in your video.
George: say
Jarrod Dyke: There are players in this pool that aren't actually playing.
George: Exactly. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: So just keep that in mind. Like, I know for a fact that Kel Pelley Pifluti is now in Prodita, so don't go picking him.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Not that you're going to, but there are some examples like that. So just keep that in mind when you're in here for everyone else that does this.
George: I remember, I don't know they're still on the list actually, but i did see Joe Marla, I saw Alex Goode, I saw a few, I think someone picked up Liam Williams in our league as well.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: He is on, ah last I looked at the player pool, he was in it.
George: So let's see.
Jarrod Dyke: So, so I don't think, don't recall the other two.
George: But yeah, so the draft started. You're on, you're picking.
Jarrod Dyke: I am on. Oh boy. Now we're all in trouble. um
George: And Finn Russell and Marcus Smith have gone.
Jarrod Dyke: Wheel.
Jarrod Dyke: um Geez. It's well for choice here.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Why make it hard on myself?
George: Pretty sure. The meter points.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
George: You can't go wrong.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Yeah. Why why go what i go wrong? Yeah. if I've noticed that there are...
George: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: think I'm going to... Me personally, I'm going to treat props and locks very much like defenses and kickers in NFL fantasy. Probably going be my last couple picks.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: like don't Don't see a reason to pick um unless you really want yeah the top three guys. Dutois, Genj, Apokiforzor, maybe a couple other guys that are going to be in here. Nebolalala is interesting.
Jarrod Dyke: He is.
George: He is.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
George: i think Danilo Fischetti as well has always scored well.
Jarrod Dyke: He's in there.
George: There's a few options there, but I agree with you.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
George: I'm not going to rush to get a prop or a second row.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-mm. No.
George: Just neither of them are big. um There are a few positions where there is really not much depth at all, like scrum half, centres as well.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm. Right.
George: Outside backs, there's lot.
Jarrod Dyke: Well, and someone...
George: there's a lot
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, and someone asked about outside backs for you, and my initial thought was, well, they you start three in the league, and there's only ever three, maybe four, depending on what other coach picks for the but the time being, but that's the max that's going to be on a team, so they are going to be limited.
George: Yeah.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, there's a lot of them, but there's going be limited in terms of starting ones, and you know as much as
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: sorry for like the likes of like Alex Hurl. You don't want that to be your guy in there or anybody.
George: Too right.
Jarrod Dyke: like yeah
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Certainly, that you don't want that to be your not your second choice, OB. You'd like that to be maybe your third choice in an emergency. Not, you know.
George: It's well worth stashing them away as well, you know, to to save situations like that and having a few options.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. They're still doing... are they' still good And it's like the really weird week between Champions Cup and Six Nations starters. There's still going to be that weird follow week.
George: There's one. Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, I hate that week so much for fantasy, especially.
George: Yeah. Yeah,
Jarrod Dyke: Like, league-wise, whatever, but especially for fantasy. It drives... I think it drives us all nuts.
George: totally.
Jarrod Dyke: But... Ugh.
George: Right. So Lewis Ries-Samit's off the board.
Jarrod Dyke: So...
George: Ravalval, Farrell, Slade, Ford, Josh Hodge. I'm back on.
Jarrod Dyke: See, i have I have value for Slade here because he kicks.
George: He kicks.
Jarrod Dyke: I actually have...
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Like, I don't have him in... Like, Super Brew? Forget it. I don't want him in there because he's a center. yeah. yeah And then you're in trouble. So I don't like that. But here, yeah, you you don't need to designate a kicker. So yeah, I'm i'm all about that.
Jarrod Dyke: Where'd you go? Finsmith. Okay, you you could do worse.
George: Finn Smith, yeah exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: You could do worse.
George: And the fly halves are already already flying off the board, so not a lot left now.
Jarrod Dyke: I see that. No, no, you're you are correct. think I'll do so Alex doesn't snipe me here. He is not. Thank you.
Jarrod Dyke: Come here.
George: So Ibtoy is gone.
Jarrod Dyke: Ew. Oh, Gloucester's going to be a headache to figure out. That is not something I want anything to do with.
George: No
Jarrod Dyke: I think this guy's a little... guy I want to pick next, I think he's a little far down there. And let's see what happens, but... Kind of an off-the-wall one.
George: J.O.C. It might be worth um handcuffing him.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
George: who they were Orlando Bailey from Bath
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. I don't know who's going to have, but I don't think Bailey's going to get picked early, but I wanted to make sure I get the the name first and then I'll deal with finding the handcuff later.
George: No
George: Yeah. Yeah, you you should grab up home grab that handcuff later because I guess JSC will be on rugby championship duty at least for the first couple of weeks as well.
Jarrod Dyke: He got, didn't he get called back?
George: Oh, did he get...
Jarrod Dyke: Edmund started this weekend.
George: He came back. Yeah, but he wass on the bench. And the way Edmund played in that first half, I'm not sure he'll be starting.
Jarrod Dyke: wasn't. I didn't, I know the result, I know the result, but.
George: Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I didn't see the game at all. um so It sounds like it was a bit of a shit show.
George: Yeah, had a shocker. Tom Jordan.
Jarrod Dyke: Ooh, good one.
George: I wanted him.
George: Nice one. So, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, center might be playing a little bit of 10 this year, and AJ's dead, so he'll be playing a lot of weeks.
George: Exactly. Like, even when AJ's playing, he'll he'll be playing. i mean he can cover pretty much the entire back line.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, fullback center, yep.
George: Merle, Arendelle.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, love me, a Caden Murley.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, good luck figuring out the Gloucester halfback, or the fly half situation. I have no idea.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I presume they've brought in Ross Byrne, and that's not to keep him on the bench, but he and anybody that played URC or Champions Cup fantasy can probably vouch for this.
Jarrod Dyke: He is a headache as a fantasy player.
George: Yeah, I'm steering. Well clear.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, pass. so I'm up here. um Oh, yeah, look at that. Yes, please.
George: Thomas Williams. Solid.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes. right, now I need to start loading up in some other places that I've neglected.
George: Right. And then Will Muir's gone. All right. So I'm going for a guy who he was brilliant at the end of last season. ah don't think he's going England contention, so he should play most matches.
George: Adam Rabwan. Adam Rabwan.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes. Yeah, well, you know, he ended up playing in a much better team. He was, the focal point of the offense is good, but also like as bad as Newcastle were last year.
George: Exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: he became the one guy that you needed to stop. And then you'd basically, win you'd have a shot, if not win the game.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Like that really, so when he got moved to another team and was no longer the focal point of the defense but or the offense, it opened up for him.
George: Yeah, he's going to flourish there.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep, no doubt.
George: Pollock's off the board. Nice. Now, don't know what other teams are doing about Lions players, but know Barth are going to be resting Will Stewart and Finn Russell for the start. I don't know about some of the other guys, but I assume Pollock will get some rest in.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Well, they there was a piece the other day talking asking Borth, like, they were asking Borth, like, please give some these, like, very tired guys rest during the fall because, during the autumn here, because they are tired, and yes, they are.
George: Yeah.
George: Yeah, someone someone like Pollock, I mean, he's just played an insane amount of high level rugby for last year for someone of his age.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Mauro Atoje, Ben Earl, all guys that are very tired, probably, and that's the short list.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: That's not even... ah It's not even scratching the surface, really.
George: Okay, so who else has come off? So on that if you click on the draft board, it's quite nice for seeing who's <unk>s come off.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: So Pollock, Carpenter's gone, not bad.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, it's quite good.
George: Then Matt, and then it'll come round. Mitchell's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. I mean, yeah, another guy that's probably going to get a little bit of rust, I would imagine. Going forward here.
George: So we've got two full leagues of Champions this year, from the sound of it.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
George: Some good new faces as well.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, it'll be fun. And I think the... And Ben and I will explain the format when we kick the pot off next week. But I think the the not requiring ah to have two full leagues separated will encourage...
George: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: better competition in the leagues that we, that we have. Cause so some people may not value like super brew six nations and I don't blame them. I get that. So if you don't, you don't have to play, you won't be rewarded if you don't play, but you don't have to play.
Jarrod Dyke: And then we can still have plenty of competition.
George: Justin.
Jarrod Dyke: That's pretty much super brew for Justin in general.
George: Guilty. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: We know his thoughts on that. So I get it. So I'm not, I'm not dogging anybody for it. I'm not going to send any way to, you know,
Jarrod Dyke: to the sheds for it, but yeah, it's going to be, it's understandable. All right, let's just come off. There goes Ross Byrne. This is probably not a bad place for him though.
George: Do you think Maedens is going to play much now at Sarri's?
Jarrod Dyke: I mean, we don't have, ah besides Daly, we don't have and out fullback.
George: Now he's back.
George: Yeah, I'm going go for him. I know he's injury prone, but
Jarrod Dyke: He started the, he started the prime cup game.
George: A did.
Jarrod Dyke: This weekend. So.
George: Nice.
Jarrod Dyke: I assume. I'm also. and ben I have talked about it a couple times. I'm also inclined to think that. You'll see Fergus Burke and Owen Farrell start together.
George: What with Farrell at 12.
Jarrod Dyke: At 12.
George: Interesting.
Jarrod Dyke: Because there's there's been issues with the midfield. With the Saracens.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I don't think there's any way around that. um And then 13 could be one of a lot of people.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: But I would assume Daly. But maybe. Maybe. Anybody else on that list as well? Sinti filled in there quite nicely. All that long ago. right, I'm up.
Jarrod Dyke: All right. Yep, like this guy a Burner.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, please. Yes, please.
George: he So that you just picked up Aaron Reid. And for me, that's like your perfect draft XV pick because he's in the Scotland squad, isn't he?
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: But he's not going to be getting in with Darcy Graham and Kinghorn and Vandermeer.
Jarrod Dyke: Doesn't play much.
George: So he should be a regular pick most weeks.
Jarrod Dyke: No.
Jarrod Dyke: I would say so. Yeah. I would say so. And and he's he's got wheels.
George: Yeah, he does.
Jarrod Dyke: Even if Sale are playing poorly, he finds space.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And it's amazing how he does. um Yeah. I mean, that's the one thing. like Sale is probably like, and this is probably blasphemy for Sale fans, like the a midfield short of having a really good back line.
Jarrod Dyke: Like a really good back line. Like, I like Maasie White with the way he's going, and i and I don't mind Bobby Dupes, but I feel like there they need an upgrade on or either Maasie White needs to take another step or they need an upgrade from Bobby Dupes.
George: Yeah.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: those are the Those are my thoughts.
George: Yeah. Center's been a problem position for them for a long time, really.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. All right. Are you back on me? Nope.
George: No, Justin.
Jarrod Dyke: One more.
George: Justin.
Jarrod Dyke: Come on, Justin. make you Make your move, would you? butard Yeah, Benard's a good pick. He'll play most weeks. So back in. Oh, man, that was a bolter from last year. Jesus.
George: What a player.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Is Cluelen healthy again? I assume so.
George: Yeah, he should be.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
George: Yeah. So Spencer, Reed, Carreras, Janssen van Rendsburg, Atkinson, Hoelen, Oli.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Got that. All right. Back three set.
Jarrod Dyke: but I went with Ollie Slay home.
George: Nice.
Jarrod Dyke: So that gives me. Stewart, Slateholm, and Reed, with Stewart being the only real one that I'm worried about.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: and don't see... Slateholm might get time here and there, but meh. Not overly worried about it.
George: dance who's who's that Dead the dead Ants?
Jarrod Dyke: Now let the fun begin.
Jarrod Dyke: Alex.
George: Alex.
Jarrod Dyke: Always Alex. Dead Ant is always Alex.
George: Okay. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: also have the U.S. Samoa game on over here. If the U.S. wins, they qualify for Australia, finally.
George: Has it started yet?
Jarrod Dyke: 13-15 U.S.
George: Right. I'm taking a man who's miraculously covered from a horrendous injury. Ollie Lawrence.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. They said he might be available start the league.
George: Yeah, well, he's on the bench for the cup game.
Jarrod Dyke: Was he? Okay.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Good. Good. i like him ah I like him just as a player in general, whether um'm you're a Bath fan or an England fan or not.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I really do. So...
Jarrod Dyke: Now the fun part.
George: Yeah. Now it's time to start looking at squads and seeing where the gaps are. So I have...
George: I've got a good blend actually. I've got two outside backs. I've got Radwan and Malin. So got Lawrence in the centre, Finn Smith. No scrum half yet. Tom Willis in my loose forward spot.
Jarrod Dyke: I mean, so oh that's a good one there. Let's see. are Well, we have Randall is there.
George: Randall is there.
George: Yeah, he's just sat there.
Jarrod Dyke: I'd say Randall. Is Ben Spencer gone? No. I don't think he's gone.
George: Spencer's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: He is gone. Okay.
George: I like Spencer.
Jarrod Dyke: Randall.
George: It was a fancy option.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Maybe quirky and maybe Porter and Jack Van Portfleet. Those are the, like the any of those guys that might be left.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Those are probably your options at this point. Everyone else is just a fill-in. You're hoping for him to just fall over for a try or get a couple of tries this or something.
George: but ah The thing about Rafi Quirk is when he plays, he's brilliant, but he's such a continual injury risk, isn't he?
Jarrod Dyke: Absolutely. Yep. No argument under in me.
Jarrod Dyke: No argument whatsoever for me.
George: Yeah, if Randall is still there when I come around.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Well...
George: but we've got...
Jarrod Dyke: yeah if You got a few people going between you and that.
George: Yeah, i've got a few in the way. A few in the way. Cowan Dickey's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: and I mean, whatever. there's There's enough good hookers that I don't need to jump on anybody.
George: no
Jarrod Dyke: Who is...
George: There are, and even if, even if you got a hooker who's starting on the bench for me, they they both get such strong time off the bench anyways, that there's just loads of hooker options.
Jarrod Dyke: Generally speaking. Yep. Yep. The backup for sale now, I believe, is Gibaloo.
George: Yep. Which are I'm gutted. Oh, Thomas D.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, you must have been pissed.
George: Toy's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: There goes that. Someone's looking for their front row. Oh, yeah, that's Matty K.
George: Yeah. was sorry to see him go.
Jarrod Dyke: I bet you were. I liked him a lot. Let's see.
George: So do you think this is the season that Theo Dan becomes the first choice at Saracens?
Jarrod Dyke: At Saracen's?
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Hard to say. i McCall is so so unpredictable when it comes to that shit.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: so like yeah I didn't expect Tobias Elliott to get as much time as he did last year.
George: No.
Jarrod Dyke: And all of a sudden, he was you know first name on the sheet for a while. So we'll see.
George: Right. Don Brown's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: There's got to be a turning point where Jinx is no longer the first option. And I say that with love.
George: Yeah, exactly. Oh, what what a club legend has been. But it's only a matter of time for Dan.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes.
George: Dan takes centre stage.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. I'd say really the thing that's stopping Theodan is sorting out his lineouts because Jinx hardly ever misses a throw.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Theodan struggles at times, but we know how much we know how much better Theodan is in the loose than Jamie George.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: like There's not a question about that.
George: Yeah, exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: So if he can ever, ever, ever sort out his lineout, even to a marginal degree, he will be in good shape. Oh, you got one pick there, buddy. Yeah.
George: Come on, Barty, just hurry hurry up.
Jarrod Dyke: You got one pick. Come on, but
George: put me Put me out of my misery.
George: He's taking his time. Fitz Arding. Good, good, good.
Jarrod Dyke: Barty. Right team, but wrong position.
George: Done.
Jarrod Dyke: You're good.
George: Done.
George: Made it. Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Got there. And then it'll be Alex, then I'm up. Oh, God, this will be interesting.
George: so So do you have any glaring gaps in your team? Any positions that you definitely...
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I only have a... I only i have my... hat my my haves sorted and my outside backs everywhere else is fucked right now.
George: Ooh.
Jarrod Dyke: So I need to start picking players that aren't those positions. Um, Oh, I want this position, but I also don't want to jump, ah jump the gun at someone else.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: going to this instead. Parise.
George: Oh, nice, nice.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Yeah. mean, when in, he was tearing teams apart.
George: Yeah.
George: Yeah. And he will be playing most weeks as well.
Jarrod Dyke: I would imagine so. Yeah. and Because then you look at like the bath center, is center pairing is going to be really interesting to see how that goes.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. You have a lot of options there. Ajomo came on at the end of last year.
George: He did.
Jarrod Dyke: Lawrence is probably first choice as long as he's healthy and available. Redpath is still there. Will Butt started of the year well last year. like There's a lot. There's a lot, a lot, a lot.
Jarrod Dyke: so it would be interesting.
George: They've got insane depth in their team now.
Jarrod Dyke: Green, gone.
George: Just their back three is unreal. I mean, someone like Will Muir, who was so reliable last year, he may not even get into the starting lineup, which is insane.
Jarrod Dyke: Which is ridiculous to think about.
George: Cockner Singer, Tom DeGlanville, Santi Carreras can play pretty much anywhere.
George: Right. And then it's coming back around to you in a second.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Before I go down this road, is Beard the first choice center and in Quinn's right now?
George: He will be. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
George: Yeah. I think so.
Jarrod Dyke: Might hold off on that then.
George: And he's, he's also, um, I mean, he, they' they'll stick him in the, out in the back three as well, if need be.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Oh, yeah. I remember that. man.
George: But this, I think this will be a big season for him.
Jarrod Dyke: There's... Oh, there's... there's the loop right the I'm going for a loose forward. Bener, Liebenberg, Gonzo, Pepper.
George: Oh, no, it was,
Jarrod Dyke: I'm very heavily relying on the Tigers right now with two or three guys already. So that's my only concern about picking Lievenberg. But I know he's going to play more consistently than any of the other guys, barring maybe Pepper, because I'm pretty sure.
George: yep
Jarrod Dyke: But even with that, they have so much depth in their back row. He's not always first choice. Holy shit, the USA are going to qualify.
George: oh what's score now oh they've made it they've made it
Jarrod Dyke: twenty seven thirteen with like two left to go.
Jarrod Dyke: Jesus, I never thought they looked so terrible against Canada. I think, oh, did Caleb Geiger score this? Timeout, Chief. I don't think so. But I just saw him getting up with the, with then they're making it look like he scored it.
George: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: I picked, I went with, them I went with Liebenberg.
George: Over to me.
Jarrod Dyke: Or no, I didn't. I went with Pennero.
George: Right. I'm taking Brown Bam Po again.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes! Fucking Caleb Geiger scored! Free Jack's guy. Yeah. Caleb.
George: You're on your way.
Jarrod Dyke: I can't believe, I thoroughly believe we were going to bottle this. Honestly, I had no faith in this, in the squad, especially with guy that wears 14 for us right now, being in the team.
George: Yes, him.
Jarrod Dyke: Pilot garbage that he is.
Jarrod Dyke: Wow. Okay. We qualify. Didn't have it on my bingo bar.
George: All right. What do I need next? So we're almost halfway.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm. Just about.
George: I need one more center.
Jarrod Dyke: around...
George: I need another lease forward. And then I might start thinking about my front five.
George: Matt K next.
George: So centers.
Jarrod Dyke: Roddy, Bam Bam Poe.
George: Oh yeah. Centers. Centers is thinning out a bit now.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes, it is. That's why that's my next that's my next target.
George: So you've got Beard.
George: Max Jomo. Caterall play.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Good when he doesn't get a red card, but when he does, it's devastating.
George: Yeah. It's just a, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: It's like, no!
George: And, you know, in draft, red cards are brutal. The scoring is quite similar to FRD in that respect. A red card is a, it's a match loser.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
George: Chinty, so Chinty will probably miss those first couple of weeks as well.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Yeah, it'd be interesting to see where he gets slotted in. I mean, every time he plays, he's good.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: It's also another thing of depth in the choices that Saracens have in their back then their centers in back three.
George: Yeah.
George: Yeah, because you've got Loz, you've got Tompkins, Liedenberg.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, we have we have we have options in those back three spots.
George: Liedenberg.
Jarrod Dyke: So, yeah. Let's see, we have, who's off the board right now? Lievenberg, Furbank, Blumeyer, Timmy Shagan, all right.
George: Dingwall. Marius Lowe is a ah bit of a midfield smasher. Crash ball.
Jarrod Dyke: Where'd he come from?
George: Lions. So he's played in the URC all his career.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, okay, okay.
George: Not dissimilar Rohan. Yancy van Rensburg. Another sale lad.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, well, we all remember him.
George: Just a smasher.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: Northmore as well. Oh, it's thin. It's very thin.
Jarrod Dyke: All right, I've got... I mean, I'm comfortable with the options, and maybe just picture pick a couple and hope that you can hope that one of them hits.
George: yeah Yeah, exactly.
George: think might just take Dingwall because he just plays.
Jarrod Dyke: He'll play most weeks, yeah.
George: Right, so Northmore's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: up 16. Okay.
George: Van Zael, okay.
Jarrod Dyke: I don't see anything value-wise for events fail, honestly.
George: Dingers. Nope. Not for me.
Jarrod Dyke: Didn't he have the most kicks from hand last year?
George: Something like that, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Nope.
George: Not what you want for a fantasy player, that's for sure.
Jarrod Dyke: Nope. No, no, no, no. I will i will pass. Pass on that all day long. All right, here we go.
George: Oscar Beard, nice, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I have a center. Yay. I'm very comfortable with that. Yeah, especially as you said, he may get stuck onto the wing every once in a while, which that's not a position swap that I will absolutely take.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Let's see.
George: So the last few that have gone off the board, we've got Liebenberg, Northmore, Van Zael, Dingwall, Ajoomo, Beard.
Jarrod Dyke: Ring wall. Jumbo. Yep. Yeah. I mean, if you're going to pick the best centers, best pick a couple of them easily because you'll probably be guaranteed to get one of those to start each week.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And if you get them both to start, then all right.
George: Yeah. Is this your first, because obviously we did the beta last year, but we didn't do a live draft for that. it was sort of... via spreadsheet. Is this your first time doing a live draft on DraftXV?
Jarrod Dyke: On this. Yes.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes. So far so good. i haven't had it any issues with it.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Um, I'd be interested with the interface when we're done here and like the week to week stuff, because obviously ben and Ben and I compile stats from both this and Superbrew and being able to pick that off the website.
George: Yeah.
George: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: You know, there's there' some sites that it's a pain the ass. Like, quite frankly, FRD is kind of annoying, although it's we we've gotten into a system where it's a little bit better.
George: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: But yeah, initially I was like, this is annoying as hell.
George: yeah now I remember this from last year, actually. The stats, it was it was quite easily readable. They had everything for the season. It was quite useful from that perspective. I did use it quite a lot.
Jarrod Dyke: um In that case, sign me up.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: all about it. Okay. Here we go. Mike, are we back to meeting it? Nope. Still waiting on Justin. Bill Mata, Gonzo.
George: Gonzalez, good pickup.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. won't Won't play right away, but yep.
George: No.
Jarrod Dyke: Solid. Solid, solid.
George: Right, you're on.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. who Guy Pepper. When he plays, outstanding.
George: Exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: It's just a matter of
George: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: We fucking qualified. I can't believe it.
George: Ah, congratulations.
Jarrod Dyke: Jesus.
George: Come on the Eagles.
Jarrod Dyke: Because if we lost this, it would have been a playoff with um the runner-up of Chile and Uruguay, both of which we lost to last cycle. And then we would have been
George: Yeah, I mean...
Jarrod Dyke: Chucked into that round robin tournament at the end of the World Cup woke up qualifying cycle, oh which we also fucked up because we would have ended up playing either Spain or Portugal, both of which we've had bad results against recently.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: So I was like, oh, man, we have to get this done because if we don't, then we are so fucked. Yep, got it done. Holy shit.
George: Right, i'm going to pick one of my favourites here. he was He was brilliant last season. just ah He gets a few tries, carries so well. Josh Kemeny.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, yeah, yeah. when he played Yeah, again, another guy, when he played, really good, really good.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: It's just you got to get him to start, you know?
George: But I think with um Augustus gone now as well, Saints are going to have, they're going to need, and with Pollock potentially being rested as well.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Rested. So he'll get some run early on, I would say.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And quite frankly, Kemny is much better than Callum Chick, who they signed recently.
George: um
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: you know people hate me for talking on Chick, but he's just not that good.
George: They've got Pearson sat there as well. Might double up them.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, there you go That's a good one.
George: Just in case.
Jarrod Dyke: I like him. like him a lot.
George: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he he came in like the exact wrong time for England duty, unfortunately, Pearson.
George: Oh, he did. ah did. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: There was a day where, don't know, probably about five years ago, where we were like, who's going to play back row for England? Because it was just kind of weird, and especially at open side, it was like, it was really not clear who was going to play open side and who could play it ably, and now it's a problem that's on the other end of it where you have a lot of options, so.
George: yeah
George: Exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: Just came to the wrong time there, Tommy Pearson. Sorry. What round
Jarrod Dyke: are we in here? Round nine. that was That is the one thing I have issue with with FRD is you don't know what round you're in often than not.
George: No, you don't, do you? Yeah, it's just kind of you trying to work it out from the players you got or the pick number.
Jarrod Dyke: And at least... and
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. yeah and In this case, and guys at Draft 15 have done a really good really a job of just making it very obvious.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: sir You're on round 10, pick two. around now Round pick three. and Very obvious of where you're at and how much you got left to go. So, yeah, not mad about it.
George: Exactly. Well, yeah, if you go on the draft board, you can actually see the percentage of draft complete. So we're 50, 51.4% complete round 10.
Jarrod Dyke: Ooh, nice.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Sign me up. like that. yeah yeah, that's right. That little tab right there.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Nice. I like that.
Jarrod Dyke: I like that a lot.
George: Okay. So Thomas, uh, the locks are coming off now. Jack, Freddie Thomas is gone. Jack Kenyham's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, there's... don't know. i' not gonna I'm not going to rush on that one by any means.
George: No. Okay, next I am going to probably pick up a backup outside back.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm still falling in my starters a little bit here. think I've got... Yeah, okay. I can feel good about what I've got so far. In terms of... If this was my starting team and everyone started, I'd feel okay about it.
George: Yeah.
George: Right, now I'm going to go for a bit of a sleeper.
Jarrod Dyke: But... Where are we going
George: I am going to go for Ben Redshaw at Gloucester from Newcastle.
Jarrod Dyke: going? Good one. From from Newcastle. Yeah, yeah.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Good one. I, I was watching, i was watching the U 20 semifinal from the other year with England against i Ireland.
George: i
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: i was like, wow, there are a lot of names on this team that I know.
George: yeah Yeah, exactly. For an under-20s team.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah
George: names we've been hearing for a while. So I think Redshaw will be starting for Gloucester as well. Excited to see how he goes. You're on.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Let's see what we got here. Okay. Um,
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, hold on. Time out. Let look at this real quick.
Jarrod Dyke: Do, do, do, do. Hmm. Yeah, I don't love him.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, yeah. A couple guys, if I knew they were goingnna start most weeks, I'd play i'd pick them, but... No, not like... um
Jarrod Dyke: not entirely sure that this guy starts every week, but i like him a lot. Will Evans.
George: Will Evans, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
George: He'll be good for your turnovers.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, and every once in a while he has a pretty good game in attack as well. so that's That's my third choice, Lucero, by the way.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: So that's that's solid as far as that goes, in my in my book at least.
George: Yeah, yeah, exactly. As a backup, that's perfect.
Jarrod Dyke: And
George: right. So we got three,
Jarrod Dyke: then we got...
Jarrod Dyke: We're on...
George: eight picks left.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, we're say we're coming back to round 11 here, so we're down to... Down to some dart throws and some... Some hopes and dreams.
Jarrod Dyke: um I see Toby Fricker on here. I don't know if I would pick him. I don't think he's going to be playing in the Prem this year.
George: No, and especially not with the depth that Bristol have in their back three as well.
Jarrod Dyke: So... Yeah. I'm pretty sure he is... He's obligated to one of the MLR teams, despite what it should show that league is right now.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah,
George: Oh, God, yeah. um it's seven Seven teams left in the MLR or something like that.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah there are rumblings that they're goingnna that there will be any the team added at some point. I don't know. and I mean, between between now and the start of the season, TBD on that one.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: But, yeah, it's getting a little hairy over there.
George: Yikes. Yeah. likes yeah yeah It doesn't look good. Every week you just hear a new, a new ominous sounding story.
Jarrod Dyke: The new team's gone up. yeah
George: Not good.
Jarrod Dyke: No, it's been...
Jarrod Dyke: It's been sad, honestly.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: um You know, one of the of the better run teams, Houston, has decided to withdraw.
George: Oh, you're on. Okay. The Glanville.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Like, I don't understand it. Like, despite the fact that they picked that shitbag McLean. I mean, they have their own stadium. they can They make... Any money they make at games is is theirs. It's not...
George: mar
Jarrod Dyke: You they don't have to pay it to anybody. it's So it's it's a wonder. It's like, how did this happen? What did you guys do wrong? What did you what didn't you guys do? You know? Oops.
George: Right, I'm going to go for another outside back bolter. going to pick up Gabriel Hamer-Webb as well because he's impressive in the UFC and I think he should do all right Leicester.
Jarrod Dyke: Hey, my web.
George: i think Yeah, he should do.
Jarrod Dyke: So he's going to finally get some time. He didn't get a lot of time.
George: Okay, so that's five outside backs I've got now. so
Jarrod Dyke: I think you're okay.
George: Doing good there. Now let's fill out elsewhere. might need to get a hooker at some point, but I'm not panicking.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, you know. No. Billy Cyril is back. is that Am I reading this correctly?
George: Billy Searle, I think would be third choice Leicester, fly half.
Jarrod Dyke: I believe so as well. I'd rather trust Bailey over him.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I think if Lester are starting Billy Cyril, bad things happened.
George: So I want pick up, just working out some of the yeah ones I want to get late in the later rounds.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Keep that. Yeah. Use that watch list, folks. Like, add a over there. You know, it's somewhat difficult to rank them up and down, but and other than if you're drafting live, it's it's a great tool, you know?
George: Yeah.
George: Yeah, and something I was really annoying Bruce at FRD about in the past. Please add a watch list.
Jarrod Dyke: Ha, ha, ha.
George: Please add a watch list.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah just guys Just guys you'd prefer. you know yet and Save them over here if they get picked. we Make them disappear.
George: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: It's okay. It's not hard. and import Wow, well I'm actually surprised Van Port Bleak went that long.
Jarrod Dyke: Kind of a shock.
Jarrod Dyke: to do do
George: go the center The centers are really, really thin.
Jarrod Dyke: I've got two I feel good about and everything else is going to be kind of a
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: A crapshoot.
George: Yeah, get one more center.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. ah um yeah Any weekend that I don't give both those guys a start, I might be picking someone off the scrap heap.
George: Yeah, exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: Yuck.
George: Yeah, that guy's still there. Hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. love ah Love being eight and one. Double picks. annoying to wait as long as you do, but if you strategize well.
George: It is. Yeah, I don't mind being the end there. Red path's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: No.
George: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: There goes that.
George: Yeah, maybe him.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Yeah, it's time to pick up reserves and start throwing darts at the wall.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I mean, after the and after the first like five picks, I'm like, all right, now we're just going for what feels good because the top, choice the top top choices are all gone with few and far between accepting.
George: Yeah, exactly. Okay, Will Porter's done.
Jarrod Dyke: Done. Okay. probably the last of the scrum halves I would want fantasy purposes.
George: Yeah, exactly. Have you got a scrum half in your team?
Jarrod Dyke: And I do, I've got Thomas Williams right near the top.
George: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Love, love those.
George: Don't need to worry about that then.
Jarrod Dyke: No, no.
George: As long as he's back from injury because he did get that ah hamstring pop.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, that was a pretty brutal hamstring injury. Yeah.
George: Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I saw that. Yeah. I'm, I'm probably going to throw a backup s scrum half into my pile in a minute, but, um,
Jarrod Dyke: I'm not worried about it quite yet. We'll see what happens.
Jarrod Dyke: Varney and Chapman both went to Exeter. That's so weird.
Jarrod Dyke: Right then, have fun with that. Enjoy, boys. Bobby Dupes off the board. And he's such a pain in the butt in this league because he's listed as a fly half.
George: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: yeah know When Ford's away, yes, hope he will.
George: Yeah. Yeah, so you lose you lose all that value. Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: Jinxie it is.
Jarrod Dyke: There it goes. Yeah. Okay. Um, uh,
Jarrod Dyke: in an effort to gain some depth here, sad, sad.
George: Thorley. Oli Thorley. so He was such a promising talent, but he's just not done it for so long.
Jarrod Dyke: All right. I'm going to grab
Jarrod Dyke: This guy to cover my fly half issues.
George: Bailey. Yeah. Nice. Yep. You're cuffed. Good job.
Jarrod Dyke: knew i could Knew I could wait on that just a little bit.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: i don't want to waver from my plan, but I'm also considering wavering from it. Where are we on?
George: Julian heaven.
Jarrod Dyke: 13. Okay. I'm almost there. Juliet, yeah. Another. know.
George: You can always rely on Justin to pick up the super rugby boys.
Jarrod Dyke: I it. i know it Yeah. Does someone have Dweba yet? Yeah,
George: That would be Justin's backup.
Jarrod Dyke: I bet you it
Jarrod Dyke: If he's not been picked yet, it will be.
George: Yeah. ah Aggressive proptimists. Who's that?
Jarrod Dyke: ah That might be... might be Rob.
George: They should add names.
Jarrod Dyke: They usually do. let me I can look back. Hold on. Let me look.
George: Or maybe it's in a different part. Participants. Maybe they... No, that's where you see who everyone's got.
Jarrod Dyke: There is, was...
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, let's hold on.
Jarrod Dyke: ah are Oh, that's Luke.
George: Okay, so Justin. Okay, yep.
Jarrod Dyke: That's Luke. That's who that is.
Jarrod Dyke: was think of who it was. I know I saw who it was, but then it obviously escaped me. Yep, there's your answer. Uh, Sinti. Okay. One. Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Coming up on me here and I need to continue to backfill here. Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Uh, let's see what we got.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh my God. It's all like, well, not meh loose forwards and OBs, but then it's like props and locks and hookers.
George: Yeah, yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Like it's, Oh, bother. um
George: Freddie Clark. Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Oh, you know what?
Jarrod Dyke: Beginning the season? This might work well. Just in case.
George: He's not a bad shout.
Jarrod Dyke: Just in case.
George: So Tom James, ah he played a fair bit.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: Well, he played a fly half a few times last season as well.
Jarrod Dyke: I saw that.
George: And he was kicking. He was kicking.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Yep. Yep. So, and with potentially Thomas Williams... banged up here.
George: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: I'm wondering if I just want to, just I'm just trying to cover my arse here.
George: Richard Lane has gone.
Jarrod Dyke: Just a little bit.
George: Right, so I'm going to go for another centre.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh man, is he healthy?
George: Richard Lane was really reliable for last year for me, but I just don't, again, that Bristol back three, good luck breaking into that.
Jarrod Dyke: Well, Reese's Amit being around now is going to make that make life hard for him.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Then you have a bit to a and yeah, and you know they've been sticking revolve out on the wing a lot so.
George: Yeah. Yeah. Well, I guess Revalvo will now be playing more center.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, maybe.
George: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Maybe, maybe, see all we'll see because Jordan's in there it'll be interesting to see where everyone slots in that in how pat lamb wants to make it work.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Very, very interesting.
Jarrod Dyke: that one's going well okay i don't need to check that
George: Tom Pearson's gone.
George: McGuigan's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: justin if you're listening you left george kittle in honor pink sleep pink slips league sorry sorry to hang out on that one well sorry not sorry but you know
George: Oh no, he's had a shocker.
George: What I will say is I am having a flyer in our normal NFL league.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, yeah.
George: For once, my team is...
Jarrod Dyke: Clicking on all cylinders. Woo! That's a big... Oh, but... ah Yeah. um
George: 141 at the moment. and
Jarrod Dyke: Right. And Joe Burrow got hurt, that's which helped you for sure.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: but didn't That did not make life any harder for you.
George: Jamal Chase, 36.5 points. Thank you very much.
Jarrod Dyke: Still with Burrow out. Damn, that's impressive.
George: Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Okay. you'll You like to think that the best receivers in the league are proof of who's throwing on the ball.
George: Exactly. Doesn't matter who's
Jarrod Dyke: But it's not always true.
George: Exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: know, they can be proof for many that shit.
George: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Who's up? Barty. Okay. You're up next there, Chief.
George: I am right. Maybe i should get...
Jarrod Dyke: Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. The one position I don't freak out too much about a backup is this because it's usually plenty, plenty stashed hanging around, you know, not always the most ideal picks, but, you know, in in a, in a tight spot can do, you know,
George: There's usually lots, isn't there? Knocking around on the board. Yeah.
George: Outside back. Okay, I'm just going to handcuff Anthony Belliott.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, nice. Yeah.
George: So I'm now safe there for my fly halves.
Jarrod Dyke: ahs and That's a very interesting signing when that when that came across.
George: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Very interesting signing.
Jarrod Dyke: No, he won't be in there.
George: Round 14 we're in
Jarrod Dyke: he won't be in there. Yeah, we're getting into... interesting territory at least okay don't love any of that so gonna go back to my original plan
Jarrod Dyke: um you're picking before me I am I'm picking um stress lane didn't hurt
George: Nope, I don't think so.
Jarrod Dyke: Mine.
George: have my eye on him.
Jarrod Dyke: um I'm not mad about that. Just felt like you he's usually one of the better ones, so.
George: Who's... Yeah, exactly. And it looks like they don't really have much in the way of backup for him. Henry Walker, Craig White, Robbie Smith.
George: None of those really ah jump out.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh. Oh. Yeah, I think and think we saw mostly Robbie Smith just because of health concerns last year, and that was it.
George: Yeah.
George: Marmion back up to Randall.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Definitely a good one to grab should Harry miss time.
George: Yeah, he does.
Jarrod Dyke: Which he does sometimes, unfortunately.
George: Yeah.
George: Jaboulou's gone.
Jarrod Dyke: There he goes.
Jarrod Dyke: There goes that. Okay. We're down to Luke picking again. Yeah, we're getting... We're getting into the fun stuff here.
Jarrod Dyke: This is now just throw your close your eyes and throw a dart.
George: Yeah.
George: Round 15.
Jarrod Dyke: um
George: Round 15. So I've got,
Jarrod Dyke: Who's play who is going to play 10 for Exeter right now? Is it going to be Harvey Skinner?
George: o it probably will be Harvey Skinner.
Jarrod Dyke: Condolences.
George: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh.
George: Theo Dan's gone. I would have quite liked to handcuff him, but c'est la vie.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, Tamati Tua. I don't know if Tua gets into the team if Ikita is there.
George: No. Yeah, so he'll play those first couple of weeks, but then Iketa will be...
Jarrod Dyke: Right, right, right. Yeah, agreed. Agreed, agreed. Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Do I have...
Jarrod Dyke: don't. All right, I'm going to try it. Total shot in the dark. If he's healthy, he's healthy, but whatever.
George: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Well, but...
George: And he's nice and versatile as well. So he could occasionally pop up out position.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: Right, I'm on. So I am probably going to pick up Genj. Why not?
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, probably... that he Again, another guy that might be under Lion's rest, but might want to...
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: but you'll You'll be well-served on that one.
George: But when he plays, he'll be he'll be good.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: And if not, I'll just pick up any old prop off the waivers.
Jarrod Dyke: There's...
George: off the wars
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, it's the perk of this format with only needing to start one prop, and we have 10 teams in the league.
George: Yeah, exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: We only have eight in our draft league here, so there there will be options. Sometimes you just don't want to be end up starting Richard Paul from it, that's all.
George: Exactly. Exactly. But no one's going to be stashing props, so there'll be plenty to pick up.
Jarrod Dyke: No, no, no. I mean, the the only ones that you're going to hang on to are like Genge, Thomas Dutra,
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Maybe a Pokéforgear.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And, you know, maybe maybe Rod. That's about it. You know, see how Viscetti and L'Alala go this year.
George: Exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: Other than that, like, I don't see him.
George: Hafar at Leicester as well. be to see how he goes there. Because he showed a lot of promise last season.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, yeah. i have ah I have a lot of hope for that kid. I really hope he gets better.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Just needs to only get, like, 1% or 2% better.
George: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: He's almost there.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Like, it's he's not far off. Excuse me.
George: Round 15.
George: Cassius Cleaves.
Jarrod Dyke: Round 16.
George: clas Cassius Cleaves is a nice... Although he came off injured after 10 minutes in the cup game.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Oh, no. hes He's done that too much, no?
George: Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: man. That hurts.
George: hate to say it. Kieran Donoghue is a good pickup.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes.
Jarrod Dyke: Hmm.
George: Because with Russell being rested, he will probably begin the season.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Well, yeah, it's him, and then is there anybody else? Because they don't have Bayley anymore.
George: Nope.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, ah that's interesting. To the least.
George: No, and Carreras obviously will be away for the first couple of weeks as well. So he's kind of, he can play 10 as well.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
George: So I think during the season, when Russell's out, Carreras will play at 10, if not Carreras at 15.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
George: But I think to begin with, Donoghue will be key.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, inclined to agree on that one. Uh...
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I got to go with... Positions here. okay Okay. Duncan's on the board here. Let's see.
Jarrod Dyke: the I have my eye on one of those positions I was trying to hold off on as late as possible, and we're getting there, so...
George: right Itoji's gone. Now, the most annoying thing about the Prem this season is it starts on a Thursday night.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: ah I know it's a nightmare for the likes of you and myself.
George: So...
George: know, right?
Jarrod Dyke: It's like, dude, you are not helping me right now. like This is not helpful.
George: No! So, I mean, so DraftXV is good because you can chop and change your team after the matches. You can bring players in even after the first lock. But Super Brew, that's going to be an absolute nightmare.
Jarrod Dyke: oh
George: You'll be picking your team and it'll be locking before you know all the lineups.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. yeah It'd be nice if the Prem stipulated, yeah, everybody needs to release their team by Thursday, but that they won't do that because that would make them smart.
George: Yeah.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: We know that they're allergic to that type of
George: Planning. Right. It's, let's get a second Ray. Half o'clock. We'll do.
Jarrod Dyke: stuff. Yeah, that's a good one. That's a good one. that's the He's definitely worth it. He he can't he really splashed onto the seam last year.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm going Mr. Joe Batley.
George: Good one. Nice pickup.
Jarrod Dyke: I like him.
George: And I think with that, you pretty much... most of the fancy ah Alex Coles is still there as well.
Jarrod Dyke: That's pretty much
George: He's not a bad option.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, let's see. we got Coles.
George: But that's pretty much it. Chunya Munger, actually, when he played last season, did pretty well.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. He's got to get into the damn team.
George: Jed Holloway used to be great in Super Rugby. I think he's getting on a bit now.
Jarrod Dyke: Lost. ah He's lost. He's a little long in the two, though.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: He's lost.
George: About five or six years ago, he was he was a great FRD pickup.
Jarrod Dyke: Sadly.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah, I totally agree. He'd be a nice lock to have in there. You wouldn't change him. and And if you have didn't play, you don't.
George: Hi.
Jarrod Dyke: You're just like, all right, whatever.
George: Ah. So he was ah he was an MLR last year San Diego.
Jarrod Dyke: He played with San Diego last year. Yeah. Yeah. and Another. it's a long It's a long story, Ben. and I will probably dig into it next week.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: um Just, you know, teams.
George: Are they one of the ones that have gone? Is San Diego ah one of the...
Jarrod Dyke: They've merged with Rugby LA.
George: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: So they and. really Really, Rugby LA was the culprit there, but they they had their own problems too.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Petty, ah Guido Petty won't start the season, but he's at Quinn's this year, isn't he?
George: Yeah. And he's he's a nice hybrid option.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
George: Back row, second row.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep. Yeah, yeah. So that's something to kind of throw out there.
George: One to watch.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. I imagine, as and depending on how good Newcastle really turned into, Freddie Clark would play most weeks in the Falcons team, or Red Bulls team, excuse me.
George: Yep.
George: Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: and That's going to take me a minute to change. um I still may call him the Falcons and not realize it until it's too late.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: ah But yeah, I imagine he's going to play most weeks. And he was usually quality when he he got run run out there. So possibilities. Okay.
George: Two more picks.
Jarrod Dyke: Two more. you know Man, oh man. All right. Are we on? right, wait on Justin. Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, if I can't get him, I'm going for death.
George: There's so many options left and loose forwards.
Jarrod Dyke: Yes. Again, a reason I don't lose my mind about him, because
George: No.
Jarrod Dyke: ah yeah you know, Yeah, you miss out, but there's so much.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Jarrod Dyke: All right. Here we go. Come on, Justin, you can do it. I believe in you.
George: Oh, Justin, he's struggling here.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he's...
George: You can hear him.
Jarrod Dyke: Or he's asleep.
George: I can feel his panic, yeah, or he's asleep, or his kids have...
Jarrod Dyke: Taking over.
George: one of his One of his many kids. He's in the red. Oh, who'd he go? Noah Hewitt.
Jarrod Dyke: There he goes. No, you were...
George: That's a panic pick if I ever saw one.
George: That's a shit.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, I mean, for his sake, I hope that's not...
George: got 10 seconds left.
Jarrod Dyke: For his sake, hope that's not a starter for him, but I don't think it is. um But damn, let's see. what's his What does his back one look like?
George: right All right. I'm going to get Chana Kani himself because why not?
Jarrod Dyke: That's a good one. Yeah.
George: Why not?
Jarrod Dyke: No, I mean, he's got...
George: In round 17. Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay, he's got plenty of depth at outside back.
George: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: He has Hassel Collins, Arendelle, and then Carreras, but he won't have to play Carreras to start because he has Elliott and Tom Wyatt otherwise. So I'd imagine we'll see those guys more often than we actually know at Heward right now.
George: yeah
Jarrod Dyke: But, you know. Oh, poor fella. So be it. Okay. okay I got that. What do want?
Jarrod Dyke: Sorry, what the hell I want here?
George: Yeah, there's no real outside backs of value left.
Jarrod Dyke: No.
Jarrod Dyke: And I might take one just on a total whim, but we'll see. don't want him. I damn it. I liked him, but he's not going get into that team.
Jarrod Dyke: Fucking
George: Do you think Andy or Niema Christie is going to get much of a run this season?
Jarrod Dyke: He started so well last year then that fucking like bra really just really hurt him so badly.
George: Yeah.
George: Unreal.
George: Yeah, I think that's a wait and see, I think.
Jarrod Dyke: um
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, that's definitely our wait and see. There's yeah I want to get cute and try and grab someone for OB b and there's really nobody I feel even close to comfortable grabbing.
George: No.
Jarrod Dyke: Woodburn's not going to play this year much because as long as the usual back three is healthy, he ain't getting in.
Jarrod Dyke: see. Okay. Oh.
Jarrod Dyke: okay oh Yeah, no, that's not to happen, actually. Both guys are healthy.
George: andri
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he's a headache for me. I'm not into that.
George: night
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he will play lock a lot, but he's a bit of ah a thunderer, just a plotter. just yeah We'll crash over the line every once a while. than Not wrong, but yeah, he's not going to be, yeah, he's not going you know,
George: a lot better out there.
Jarrod Dyke: Bolting down the field by any means whatsoever.
George: No.
Jarrod Dyke: Charlie, I can see.
George: All right.
Jarrod Dyke: That'll be interesting see how that goes.
George: I'm going to, I'm going to take Ted Hill.
George: My last pick.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. And it's another guy that's like, okay.
George: He'll be there. I mean, ever when Willis is fit, Tom Willis will be starting for me and then it's just going to be rotating between my others.
Jarrod Dyke: who
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: What about... Let's see this.
Jarrod Dyke: Is going to be Chamberlain or is it going to be Conning up at Newcastle?
George: Chamberlain, I think, will be starting. Are they both still there?
Jarrod Dyke: Done.
George: Not bad getting a starting 10 in round 18.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, I'm not...
George: Yeah, I think he'll be the main man.
Jarrod Dyke: Maybe that ends up being... my my second fly half and not not Bailey.
George: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: So, whatever. Depends on how well the Red Bulls play, honestly.
Jarrod Dyke: Dimes is probably the only concern on that, honestly. His play style doesn't really, isn't really conducive to fancy things.
George: No.
Jarrod Dyke: Alright, and then the Luke with Mr.
George: this is last pick, which I don't know who that was.
Jarrod Dyke: Irrelevant.
George: Draftball.
Jarrod Dyke: Matias Alamano is Mr. Irrelevant.
George: Fitting.
Jarrod Dyke: Is he away?
George: I don't think he's in the squad, actually, but I don't think he'll be starting. Not with Freddie Thomas and Arthur Clarke and people like that.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Uh, I mean, was rotated in and out. All right. I think that's the end
George: Cool. So yeah, I think you just need to click complete draft as the commish.
Jarrod Dyke: end. Process. This action cannot be undone. Well, no shit. I don't think anybody wants to redo this necessarily.
George: Once it's done, it cannot be undone.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah,
Jarrod Dyke: yeah we'll be opening. well we We will be opening a pod league. Um, For both URC and Prem on Draft 15.
George: Brilliant.
Jarrod Dyke: We want to push these guys as much as we can. They're the new kids on the block, but this is already a very good experience from what I can see and from what you've what you've been talking about.
George: It
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. Oh, come on. Don't be a dick.
Jarrod Dyke: You can do it.
George: it took about a minute to process it last time I did it.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, it's... Tried to kick it back to me. i was like, no, don't you dare. my phone out and be freaking texting the boys here.
Jarrod Dyke: I believe it's not been done.
Jarrod Dyke: Let's see.
George: Yep, looks like it.
Jarrod Dyke: Leak.
George: Matchups.
Jarrod Dyke: All right. Oh, yeah, let's do this.
George: Here we go So you've got Barty in week one.
Jarrod Dyke: ah braba Yeah. And you are stuck with Alex.
George: Me and Alex, Duncan and Luke and Justin versus Matt.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. All right.
George: Awesome.
Jarrod Dyke: Awesome. Yeah. Love it. Love it. So that'll be that. Yeah. Ben will make our, Ben and I will make our official debut next weekend and we'll do that.
George: Look forward to that.
Jarrod Dyke: We'll, we'll be in with all the good stuff. Prem preview. We're going to stop talk women's world cup. We're going talk, say the union here in the United States and we'll talk obviously, a little bit of fantasy as well. So we'll see you guys then.
