00:01:42
Speaker
People, people, limit your ear and your account because I'm broke. Anyways, we're about to have some fun today. We're going to some UFC, we're going to some boxing. We got breaking news with Shakur Stevenson. um We got some fun today and I might talk about some video games later on if we have enough time or if I feel like it.

Upcoming UFC Events and News

00:02:00
Speaker
Yeah, so I mean, as you mentioned, right, a lot of stuff going on. A lot of things we need to talk about this weekend is the huge fight weekend in Vegas um comes around every year. Obviously, Canelo fights every year this time of year. um And so make sure everybody that you are subscribed at Ball and Bud so you're getting all of these live videos and the videos that we put out on a daily basis so you will be able to see celebrities combat sports

specials every time they come live as well. Make sure you tune in next week. I'll have my new mind to the professor number four on next Wednesday 8 p.m. same time as today. That being said, let's go ahead and kick this bad boy off. so starting off with a bit little bit of UFC. I know we're going to get into 306, the Noachian, the Spear, right? This is all, um again, revolving around, usually, it used to, before UFC started to compete, with which we'll talk about in a little bit. Used to revolve all around Canelo, the Mexicans, Fight Weekend, you know, Independence Day Fight Weekend, all that good stuff. um So,
00:03:09
Speaker
Before we get into that, there was a fight night last week and I want to get your thoughts for our fans here before we get into 306. We had a couple of, you know, the co-main and the main event that I just want to run through really quick. So the co-main event here was Jessica Andrade who fought Natalia Silva.
00:03:28
Speaker
um it was it It was a decision. Natalia Silva won by decision. Now obviously these are two women headed on different ah career tracks right now, right? One is, you know, Andrade starting to slide, you got Silva on the come up. So tell tell me, give me some quick thoughts on this fight.

Key Fights and Fighters in Focus

00:03:47
Speaker
Yeah, that car was basically a changing of the guard type thing with the main event being Gilbert Burns and and and Brady and and Jessica Andrade and Silva. So, I mean,
00:03:59
Speaker
And Dr. Still, she's always going to put on a good fight. She's fought the who's who, you know, um, uh, you know, she, she submitted herself in the, in the UOC as, as a great one competitor, but you know, it still was time. Uh, and Dr. She looked good, but you know, it's, it's about the time I can say hanging up, but she's taking that next step below to, you know, gatekeeper stash, which isn't a bad thing. Um, but you know, she, she's, she's, um, she's, he's heading down that, that path.
00:04:24
Speaker
Yeah, that's exactly what I was. That's exactly what I was thinking. She's kind of, you know, headed on that gatekeeper, kind of, you know, the veteran who has lost a step maybe is starting to lose some fights here and there and can be still a a pillar of at least, you know, something to measure yourself against, a measuring stick sort of thing. Yeah. um And so you mentioned the other fight there, Gilbert Burns, you know, same kind of thing we're talking about here. He fought Sean Brady. How'd you feel about that fight? By the way, Gilbert Burns,
00:04:54
Speaker
Uh, uh, Sean Brady won by decision. Yeah. Gil Burns. I mean, he's 38 years old. He's, he's, he's, uh, you know, he's, he's been around the block quite a few times. Had some good fights with, uh, you know, Kamau Uzman, even, uh, Hamzah Shamayo. He's the first one to really test Hamzah. Um, I think it was the last fight in the USA possibly, but, uh, Gilbert Burns, I mean.
00:05:12
Speaker
He even admitted it before the fight, you know, this is this is probably it. If he's if he's going to possibly defend for a world title or or fight for a world title um or kind of slide back down. And, ah you know, it's I mean, Sharper Sharper, he's good. for He's out of Philly. He only had one loss. That loss was to ah to Belal Muhammad. Remember the name. and Remember the name of the champion. She'll have a lot of stand up that fight. This fight was back and forth.

UFC Event at The Sphere: A Spectacle

00:05:37
Speaker
I felt bad for both of them because Both of them had two crucial below the belt shots on each other and each of them. Oh my God. I felt each one. I mean, it was like a toe knuckle to the, to the go nads. It was like, you know, somewhere I saw a dove painted. I think every time you get someone gets hit in the nuts like that, a a dove thinks that's what I've heard. Yeah, I guess where if girls get hit, you know what? A pigeon fling thing. So I don't know why it's a dog, but you knows. But anyways, but yeah, it was it was a good back and forth fight. But you know, Sean Brady, he's this guy. He is a big into like CrossFit and burning so many calories. Big try not triathlon, but he likes to. He's a very active person and his gas tank is going to stay up there. So um yeah he he got ah he he took over up burns towards the end of that fight and and ah and took that over. It's funny. I actually watch that today. So hilarious.
00:06:31
Speaker
Good, I'm glad because I know that you're always on top of your stuff and I wanted to at least get your thoughts on that before we move to 306 because obviously those are some bigger names ah that people might know. So I just wanted to make sure we got your thoughts on last weekend's Fight Night. That being said, now let's get into this weekend's Nuche at the Sphere, the first UFC event at the Sphere, which we will get into all of that and what that actually means. But just in terms of.
00:07:02
Speaker
ah the sphere itself and the ah the the venue and the way that it's laid out. And if I mean, I'm sure everybody at this point in time has seen pictures on the Internet, if you haven't been already. um So it should be a spectacle, should be pretty awesome. There are some three main fights here really to talk about, and we'll get into them in just a second. But before we do that, what are your overall thoughts about UFC moving into the sphere and doing an event there?
00:07:30
Speaker
Uh, it's cool. I mean, just, I saw a special about how many TVs it has and how much it costs it to keep that thing running and whatnot. Um, it's, it's a, it's a spectacle. It's, it's pretty dope looking, but I kind of.
00:07:46
Speaker
I'm eager to see how it looks from a from aesthetic point of view. Is it going to be similar to when Roy Jones fought at the, um was this a place where that you said they would it had an in the NFL draft back in the day, the music hall in New York? um And it kind of had the stage at the bottom where Roy Jones for fought there. And he had, that's when he had Red Man and Method Man walking to the to the ring. Is it going to be basically the cage way in the beginning, you know, way at the bottom and everyone's just a projecting up? You know, i um it's going to be cool to look at, but ah you know,
00:08:16
Speaker
If I was on the outside of the sphere, I'd be kind of pissed that they're not showing a fight on the damn dome. You know what I'm saying? If I didn't pay a ticket to go up in there, you know, I walked by it. He's like, oh, you'll see. Where at? Oh, you can't see. Pay a ticket,

Fight Predictions and Analyses

00:08:26
Speaker
buddy. But you know, I yeah i wonder how many people on the outside are going to do because those ticket prices are whoa, man. Beyonce, you said they're high.
00:08:34
Speaker
I mean, that's exactly what they're what they're gonna do. if you ain't ah if you ain't walk If you don't have a ticket, excuse me, you're gonna be left out in the rain wondering what's happening. in Yeah, those tickets are very expensive. The nosebleeds, when I checked, were going for like, four hundred four fifty just for a nosebleed ticket. So, yeah, I said, I said, nope, not going to do it. So I was actually sales thinking about three thousand or trying to resell for some like mid level just to get just to get up in there. Three thousand. I said for who? it Oh, no. Yeah. I'm going to be able to do it. Not going to be able to do it. i' go do the roomette All right. So let's get into the three main bouts here. First, we have a was supposed to be a fight a few months ago.
00:09:15
Speaker
But an injury took out Brian Ortega. So now we have this ah coming up again. At 145, yes, sir. The featherweights, we have 16 and 3 Brian Ortega taking on 25 and 6 Diego Lopez. My friend, what are your thoughts on this fight? I'm a big fan of Brian Ortega trains with ah what what ah Nick and Nate Diaz. um You know, he's a, he's a, he's a Cali kid. He's very good with jiu-jitsu, but he just doesn't fight that much. He's, he's kind of similar to two of the boxers that I'm going to go over on a Canelo card. It's just his, his activity rate is just not as where it should be. You know, he puts on great fights um that you got to hear what we get to fight was very good in Mexico. um But Diego Lopez is, this kid ain't no joke, man. This, this, this kid is legit, legit. And I'm thinking Lopez and get him up out there. I'm usually out.
00:10:10
Speaker
It's been a while. It's been a while. It's been a while. Let's get that thing ready. Club. I think slow as hell. Third round knockout. Third round knockout. Diego can get a body. Third round knockout for Diego Lopez. Or I'm not, you know, I wasn't doing caveat maybe with submission by Ortega because he has a great ground game pulse but Um, I'm definitely going to go to Lopez because they're, they're transitioning in careers. I think, uh, Diego's starting to move up in the ladder. People are starting to notice how good he is. Um, and he's rocking that mullet too. Um, which has become a fashionably trendy nowadays, you know, but whatever that's another story, but, uh, yeah, so i I'm going with Diego Lopez right there. Bam.
00:10:54
Speaker
There we go. I heard it first, but it's another trendy line everyone's using so I ah can't say that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So no, yeah, definitely don't do that. Yeah. So again, yeah, it's something where you mentioned someone doesn't fight a lot. Someone is a little bit, you know, older, not in as much fighter mode all the time and that can definitely hurt you when it comes to these sorts of fights. So all right cool moving on to the co-main event UFC women's flyweight champion. We're going to have Alexa Grasso who is going to have a very
00:11:39
Speaker
very tough challenge here. She's 16-3 and won the Mexican, but she goes up against ah Hall of Famer, undoubtedly, yeah Legend, um and her record is, sorry, excuse me, I missed my screen there, 23-4 won, Valentina Cheveschenko.
00:12:01
Speaker
Wow, we've loved her for a long time. But Alexa Grosso, everyone really loves her fighting style. um And she's, she you know, she's a good fighter. So what are your thoughts on this? Yeah, Alexa, you know, she's pride fighting out of Guadalajara, Julisto, Mexico, you know, just like someone else we're gonna talk about later on, you know, they're representing big time. Like if you look at this car, I think, besides the main event, which is weird, I think there's a Mexican fighter in every every, uh, every fight this card, you know, it's obviously the catering to the Mexican fans as they should on Mexican Independence Day. But besides the main event, I think every, every person's fighting is a Mexican fighter being represented in in this car, which is, which is, which is amazing.
00:12:42
Speaker
um You know, this is this the rubber match in the first fight. oh ah Grasso won. The second fight was a draw. Now we're at three. Grasso is younger. She's a little more hungrier. Valentina the bullet. I mean, she's this one was one of the best female Muay Thai fighters back in the day a couple of years ago prior to joining UFC. She's fought a who's who. She's the greatest flyweight champion of all time. Women's flyweight champion. She's had, what, seven title defenses of that belt. So she's she's basically the the Amanda Nunez of her division and her fights with Amanda Nunez.
00:13:13
Speaker
Uh, could have gone, she lost my split decision on, I think it was the first one. It could have gone either way. So she's one of the the greatest female fighters there is. However, however, age 36, how much does she have left in the tank? Okay. I just said this about Google birds, about ah Jessica Andrade.
00:13:32
Speaker
How much is left in the tank? She always comes to fight, don't get me wrong. But and there's always a certain point where you know it's just not there no more, okay? is well You look at all of the great fighters, um some some bow down in gray, some go down before it gets too messy. With that being said. Club bangers.
00:13:56
Speaker
Club bangers. She's getting that belt back. I think it's gonna be a five round decision. I think she's gonna out point her. She's gonna out work her. ro up I think I think I'm sorry. Alexa Grasso. I mean, these these two fighters, they are the coaches on the Ultimate Fighter Show right now. So they're they're they're being seen by everybody. But I just I got a feeling that Valentina is gonna is gonna um it's going to get on this one. I don't think she's going to knock her out. I think she's going to out point and get the decision. That's, that's, that's what I'm going with. you know You take that to the bank, don't cash unless you win and give me $5 from it. That's all I'm saying. Wow. First of all, love that. You know how much I love Valentina and i how much of a G I think she is. So, uh, her getting her belt back makes me happy. Not that I don't like Grosso and the wind that she had that was, you know, the really important for the Mexican heritage and the Mexican community and all that. Um, but.
00:14:48
Speaker
I really like Sheamushenko and the way she fights, so I would be happy to see that. So um good, well, at least in my eyes, a good prediction there. Let's get to the main event of the evening. And as you mentioned, the only, well, there's actually two fights just ah as one correction. You were right for the most part. Most of the fights I looked are all Mexicans, except remember um Diego Lopez is from Brazil, not Mexico.
00:15:16
Speaker
so Uh, yeah, we'll take a mission heritage. He's from, he's from, that's a good point. That's a good point. That's an American. Okay. We'll take that out the judges.
00:15:27
Speaker
Yes, the judges will accept the Mexican-American heritage. like i Made 135, the UFC Bands from Weight Championship. Mira Valashivili, excuse me, I practiced it earlier so I got close. Valashivili.
00:15:49
Speaker
um seventeen and chey I know I figured I didn't mess it up. I tried. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie. That was Wylie.
00:16:15
Speaker
back now he is not mexican butt um a Aside from, and he yeah there was actually an article that came out today, I was going to ask you this later as my personal question in the mailbag, but I guess I might as well enter it in here now, but there was an article that came out today where Sean O'Malley was basically proclaiming himself the face of UFC since Conor McGregor doesn't fight enough. And I mean, honestly with Dana White putting him in this position,
00:16:44
Speaker
it's it's hard to kind of argue that he is at least at the top of that of the ladder wrong and me and maybe not the top top but he's up there um and so he said Connor was still the top but if Connor didn't come back and fight then he would be so that's what the article is all about anyways uh what are your thoughts on this huge fight uh first we'll start with him being a face i don't know i mean They do parade him out there a lot. He's done some ah boxing commentary. He commentated the Nate dia yeah nate Diaz against Jorge Masfidal. He's one of the commentators with Sean Porter and the the other gentlemen. I know he's partnered partnered with um
00:17:26
Speaker
Uh, the milk boys nu does those happy dad, whatever beer. He's part of that. Does those commercials. He was with the Arizona Cardinals recently. Take a picture of Kyle and Murray and all the rest of it. So they, they do parade him out there to try to get his name out there. Um, I don't know if he'll be a household name. I'm not too sure he's getting there. I just don't, I don't think Samantha going to Wegmans on a Thursday knows who he is yet. You know what I'm saying? like you don I know Margaret going to to a food line. They probably know who John Jones is, but I don't think if Samantha knows who, you know.
00:18:01
Speaker
sean o'malley is yeah But he's he's getting there. I think the younger crowd is really feeling him. um's He's he's a good fighter. I mean he came into the game getting the biggest ah big up on like a tender series when he got that knockout and Stu doll was commentating. It was like you know. ah You know oh sugar sugar, you know, just is this is sicin him up and since then he's used that to the. ah um ah progress his career, you know, and and you look at it like this, this guy's had 13 fights at the UFC and he has um eight KOs out of 13 fights. um ah Also out of those 13 fights, he has nine performance or fire of the night. So that tells you that he puts on a show. So people do like seeing him. um I would be eager to see what the numbers are for his pay-per-view, cause he's, you know, headline this one. So I like to see, you know, what what are the numbers are people buying his stuff. So that kind of shows you who to face is when it when it comes to popularity. I'm a big fan of Charlie Mount. I think he,
00:18:52
Speaker
He's a he's a very good fighter, but he's similar to a John Jones where it's a unicorn. Why is it? Why? Because it's a unicorn because uh He's five eleven fighting at what 135 or something like that. So he's very tall and lanky and for that weight class, because a lot of those guys are a lot shorter. So I'm thinking he's going to always have that benefit. The only fight that was kind of wishy-washy for me was when he fought Peter Yawn. I actually thought he lost that fight, but they gave him the nod. Even he was surprised when he raised his hand.
00:19:28
Speaker
um We'll just fight with a with a moroc. ah That was why you don't the machine. He's not gonna knock you out Okay, he's just he's a the cold machine cuz he's non-stop pressure He's gonna try to take you down around a pound you you don't say that's his style with his height He could probably get inside on O'Malley. So I'm wondering How he's going to approach this fight, because when he fought Peter John, who's a striker, he was tagging him, you know, saying lots of spin kicks in the body, doing things like that. Morat is going to wrestle him because he's training partners with Al Jamang Sterling. We all know about the whole jacket. And what are you doing? Oh, the whole jacket incident. We got a close up of your of your shaggy beard there, sir.
00:20:01
Speaker
ah um we had ah He got my train, thought, what are you doing over there? But, uh, yeah, so would like when algebra got in a cage and they took his jacket and and he had that little Michael Jackson jacket run around a cage and was always, uh, you know, uh, the beef right there. So I'm liking this fight. I've always won this fight to happen. A lot of people are thinking, Sean, am I just going to run straight through them?
00:20:23
Speaker
I don't think so. Morat's fought some from some real good people. He's not a big knockout or something like two, four, three or four knockouts. But he did a great knockout against um Marlon Morat. He's fought Aldo, he's fought Jan, he's fought Triple C, Henry Sahuda, and he's put on great performances against all those good fighters. So you can't just write this guy off.
00:20:43
Speaker
um Sean O'Malley, he's gonna have to use his his length. He's gonna have to box him, keep him at bay. He cannot let him get inside. If he gets inside, he's gonna take him down. Sean O'Malley's wrestling is not that great. It's not on a level of morats. If Al Germane would have stuck to the game plan, he probably would have had Sean O'Malley, because Sean O'Malley had an injury for that fight anyways. And, ah you know, he went to the upper room in the second round when he got him with that two piece. But, yeah, it was, it wasn't that good. But I would have say for this one, whoo, this is being people.
00:21:14
Speaker
tough one club banger I'm still going with Sean O'Malley. He's going to give him a body there. I think fourth round knockout Sean O'Malley is going to take him out, but I'm going to caveat this caveat. This will caveat this one. Okay. If it goes the distance, Marat wins. If it goes to distance, he will win. Cause that means it'll be kind of like below Hama going against Leon Edwards. This will be a ground and pound very slow fight. However,
00:21:40
Speaker
If he, if, if, if, if it stops early at any time, um, with a knockout, Morat's not going to knock him out. It's going to be Sean O'Malley winning by knockout. I don't see Sean O'Malley winning by decision. I see him winning by knockout, but I will caveat that kind of like I did below Muhammad Lee on Edwards fight. If it goes a distance, then Morat will win by decision. Okay. Bam. There you go. See you at the bank. But when, um, your money you know what? I'm, I'm so glad that you mentioned that below Muhammad Lee on Edwards fight, because when I was.
00:22:09
Speaker
um When I was you know going through our notes for the show, you know as we do and making sure that we have our our stuff ready and and and our knowledge good on these fighters

Boxing vs. UFC: Weekend Showdown

00:22:20
Speaker
and everything. The only thing that kept coming back to me when I was reading up on this fight was that fight that happened. And I was like, man, I can so see Marab, or the machine as it's called, um very much so winning a decision here, similar in that vein as was done in that fight. And so um since for some reason, that's really all I could think of when I was reading up on this fight. And yes, Sean O'Malley is a very exciting fighter.
00:22:46
Speaker
Um, he's a great fighter. um Um, I'm going with Rob. I'm going with Rob in a decision. So I'm going to, I'm going to back up your club or caveat. And that is going to be my my professor pick. Yeah, I mean, it's it's it's one of those fights I can go either way. What up, Troy? What up? What up, Bajo? It's one of the so like Marat, he's a very good fighter, but he's he's pressure, pressure, pressure. And if you see the fight when he fought um ah when he fought Henry Zohuda, who's a Olympic wrestler, OK, and a two division champ in the UFC, he got him on that. So
00:23:20
Speaker
He's gonna he's gonna he's gonna he's gonna bring the pressure and I think Sean O'Malley with his length It's gonna be tough to get the short guy up up off you pause, you know So if he gets in close, um you know, it might just be a Windows ground-on-pound, you know ragdoll type fights It's like Leon Edwards gets below Muhammad bubble up below stood up. He is staying up game was a little better ah than expected fighting Leon Edwards then ever just came in flat, but that could have been the fact that they're fighting in and in the UK at like five six in the morning basically ah adhering to America's time instead of us adhering to their time with their champion. Make it make sense, but whatever. It's all good. Yeah, yeah, shout out to Roy. As he said, shout out by Joe, my brother. I love you. Shout out flow coming in and showing up with good flow. ah Yeah, you know, i' one like and some people said that Jeffrey Dahmer from Netflix, but either way I'll take it. I like these classes are cool.
00:24:14
Speaker
um ah understand yeah yeah Um, Jeffrey uh, resolution you got there from the nineties. I know that I haven't seen, uh, no, there's no way, uh, the light may be a little, cause I didn't want the light to be that bad, but there's no way it's the because the camera is brand new.
00:24:35
Speaker
and the camera, I mean, if it's the, if it's something else, I have no clue then. You know, like episode of Unsolved Mysteries, but go ahead, we good. I was messing with you. That's really weird. I literally brought a but but a brand new camera today. So if it is like that, that's not good. My man, Troy. What's up, Troy? I know what's going on. Thank you, Troy. Tune in, everybody. At Ball and Buds. Make sure you're subscribed on on YouTube.

I feel like beyond what you um I love that. I love the concept that they're trying to do. I love that that Turkey Alex chic is sponsoring this car that we're gonna get were we'll get into here in a second. I know why he's doing it I'll explain here to counteract Canelo, but um, you know I It's it's showing showing our respect to your fans. You know I'm saying they have a big
00:26:22
Speaker
Mexican following to get a lot of Mexican fighters So why not do something on Mexican Independence Day for those fighters and those people? So, you know, I'm all I'm all for you know, it's it's good concept goods card It's just that you're going against a juggernaut and can elaborate. So you know, I'm eager to see what the numbers are, but they've done this before when they had, uh, when Al Haman, well, I would say Al Haman Sabotage, but when they had Earl Spence and, and, and, and Bud Crawford fighting, they also had a UFC card the same night when Pereira once went against Opa Colpich, which was his first fight at, um, at, uh, 205. So this has happened before where UFC and boxing have been on at the same time. You know, I think it's,
00:27:00
Speaker
kind of productive but it kind of shows you who's the big dog and most likely this tent this time I think you'll see is not going to win this one that things will be boxing. That's my hope. Yeah I mean as you mentioned last year this exact situation happened and we wondered and talked about it on the same exact program. Why would UFC try to encroach on what has normally been the boxing weekend in Vegas and one of the most known boxing weekends of the year. Potato White doesn't care about those sorts of things. He is clearly just a businessman that is trying to make as much money as possible. And, you know, in a capitalist society, shout out to him for that, but at the same time,
00:27:44
Speaker
um You know, you're going to you're going to you're going to win sometimes you're going to lose sometimes, you know, if you believe that they're going to bite the bullet this weekend. And that's what they're going to have to do. But, you know, they are they are encroaching on previously held territory. So they're the ones that have to accept the risk that comes along with that. Well, they also let's move on into boxing.
00:28:07
Speaker
Boxing has been approaching on a lot of things since Floyd Mayweather fighting on my birthday weekend, which always kind of ruins it So, you know, they need to stop doing asking me tomorrow. That's my birthday weekend. Do it again when y'all gonna see me in the streets I don't know what street you can see me though. I might just wait. That's it. But you know Santa's do it the weekend after Let me have that also happened the last two years in a row. So can't foresee that happening my friend probably good help now it's but obviously florida kill yeah with me um So now we'll get into more in the mailbag about what that actually means in terms of, you know, money wise and gate and stuff like that. But before we get into that, moving into boxing, the monster, in a way, fought on Tuesday of about last week, so eight days ago. um And he fought Dhani and had a TKO in the seventh round.
00:29:00
Speaker
Um, he is obviously, uh, world, world title holder in multiple, multiple divisions. And he is called a monster for a weekend, uh, reason, excuse me, the weekend. So what is your thoughts on that fight? My friend, they do what he's supposed to do. I mean, I don't buy it there. That fight was like ads. Uh, I want to say.
00:29:25
Speaker
nine o'clock, 10 o'clock in the morning, you know what I'm saying? It was butt early for us because it is fighting over there in Japan. And, you know, the monster does what the monster always does. It's, I don't fault him. He's in my pound per pound top three. But I don't fault him for his opposition because it's not his fault who he's fighting. But he's, he's moved up. I don't, I'm waiting on for When Bam Bam Rodriguez moves up to his division, um it might be take a little while maybe a year or two at Bam Bam keeps on a up projection that he's doing because he's in my top 10 best fighters right now. Bam Bam Rodriguez only look him up ah hell of a fighter.
00:30:01
Speaker
um That's the fight. Everyone's kind of clamoring for it, but I don't think Bambam's ready yet. Hopefully he gets another fight. Um, if he moves up at least in his division, get one fight, then fights him. That'd be great. Uh, but I mean, people were saying that, you know, they want, uh, in a wide fight and tank Davis and like, man, man, take one doctor. I think he canceled, but he knocked him out. If they fight at one third tension, he's just a bigger guy. So, uh, I will. If he, if he, if he cleans up the vision, that division, like he cleaned up the the prior division and moves up again.

Boxing Politics and Strategies

00:30:31
Speaker
You know, maybe it was like a feeler fight at 130. I'll be eager to see how, you know, how that translates over as far as his, his weight and his power and whatnot. Because when he fought Luis Neri, you know, Neri put him on his butt, you know, just like ah he's been tested even when he got to, when he fought, no need to do an error.
00:30:49
Speaker
That fight, I think they fought twice, but the the first fight was was was pretty bre pretty pretty tough for him, you know what I'm saying? So he's been in some tough so fights, it but people always like to say, like they said it for Bud Crawford, I can't put him up there because here's a fault nobody. If he beats the crap out of everybody he fights, then he's doing, it's not like he's going to a decision, okay? He's putting on a show. So you can't fault him for that, okay? It's not his fault that you know he's not fighting the other marquee names because there's no marquee names in in his division.
00:31:16
Speaker
So he's just doing what he's supposed to do. But yeah, he got him up out of there. You know, the guy basically quit off a body shot. I was like, Oh my God. yeah like It was bad. It was like, what was it? Round seven, round nine. So around there, it was, it's pretty rough, pretty rough. Yeah. It was round seven. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know, Derek, I'll send you the picture too. I don't know. I know I'm on seven 20 and it's a brand new camera that I just bought. So it's gotta be the internet. So it is what it is.
00:31:42
Speaker
Cause I got internet in my apartment. I even got that and went out of my way to buy that, which I didn't have before. And I thought was the issue. So clearly, you know, Hey, nothing I can do now. Uh, anyways, boxing still 15 rounds. No budget. Uh, he knows what he's doing. I know he's doing. I know. Cause he asked that last time. Remember he asked that. in the face when you stra hes trying to light me I'll say, I started to be like man, dork, but, uh, yeah, yeah, budget where popping that man dork, but yeah, let's keep moving. Let's go.
00:32:08
Speaker
Yeah. um And yeah, I'll look into that too. for Thank you for that. That's a good point. I could probably try to do that since it's down here. Alright, cool. Let's keep it moving then. So moving into the fight this weekend. We have um a few different fights. I know you wanted to touch on. Obviously the main event is the most important, but there are some other two fights that you that are on the card that I know you want to at least give your opinion on. So first we'll start with Nashville's own shout out. Caleb Sweet Hands plant.
00:32:45
Speaker
going up against Trevor McConvey, part of the MAGA universe. Oh, man, he was straight MAGA. Jesus Christ. ah What are your thoughts on this fight? It's 12 rounds for the vacant WBA Interim Super Middleweight title. Yeah, I mean, i'm I'm a big fan of Caleb Plant. I mean, I like Caleb Plant. He's the type that, ah you know what I'm saying? He's old school. He wants to fight the best. He wants he always wants to put on a good show.
00:33:12
Speaker
um Also, if you disrespect him as a man, he might slap the shit out of you. Ask, ask, Tarlow, ask Jamel, Jamal one to two, ask them about that. Like that, you know, same with Ryan Wolf, with, with, with the racist bigot who try to talk about his wife, who was suing that guy, you know, we, when you try to talk about his wife, do the drink without him at the, at, at, I forgot what fight that was, you know, so.
00:33:36
Speaker
Kayla playing is one of my I just like him as a person and he's a damn good fighter. You know, I just thought the game plan against Canelo wasn't wasn't what he should have done. But, you know, it is what it is. That's when he fight when we step together to like the upper echelon, you know, he's.
00:33:52
Speaker
You know, his last fight, he hasn't fought since the David Benavidez fight. And I don't know how he survived 12 rounds, because he looked good in the first few rounds, but David Benavidez put that pressure on me. He was looking, you know, it looked rough for him, but, you know, he he still survived. He hasn't fought since then. I think that was, what, about two years ago? About a year and a half ago?
00:34:10
Speaker
something of that nature. But he's 62 in his last eight fights. He's a former IBF champion. He knows what it is to get that high level. He's a hell of a businessman, because he has businesses outside of the ring. But he knows how to translate that into the dollars in the ring, like when he beef with Benavidez and even Edgar Berlanga, who's fighting Kenil Alvarez. He did the trademark and was making money off their name, because they never did it.
00:34:39
Speaker
so every Edgar Bolinga shirt sold or whatever uh I believe um Caleb plant gets money off that he made a website with her with their name on it Which is hilarious. It's it's a great petty move and I take my hat off to if I had a hat on I would tip it to him because that's I love the pettiness when you have beef with somebody That's not on your level of IQ and when it comes to the business side of things So shout out to him with that, but I'm he's fighting a turbo come be He was at the press conference all maggot out back when it first had to have it like that's supposed to mean something um I guess he's trying to get that that crowd base, you know cool Whatever if that's what you got to do to get get fans ah to get you
00:35:14
Speaker
Sure. But, um you know, McCombie's 28. No, I don't really know much about him. 21 knockouts. a Plant called him a a glorified 31 year old prospect, which is hilarious. This is one step up with a higher opposition of fighting a Taylor plant. And a question I saw on, I forgot the homies name. I follow him on Facebook. Jesus won't give you credit. But he said, this is the first time on pay-per-view, or can you name the last time on pay-per-view two white Americans fought each other? If anyone in the conversation is probably googling right now, when is the last time two white Americans fought each other on pay-per-view? All right, in boxing. And I was like, shoot, I, you know, I was thinking like Mickey Ward versus Otoro Gotti, but that's Irish Mickey Ward and that's Otoro Gotti, he's Italian. So as far as like,
00:36:05
Speaker
white guys fighting each other. I can't think of any. So that's pretty cool. Hopefully it's a milestone and they could wake up a lot of other outpatient fighters. You have to go back pretty far. Yeah, yeah, I can't think of any, but shout out to both of them. But Kayla Penn's gonna win. You gotta get that. You don't even gotta get it. We all know who the Penn's gonna win. Yeah.
00:36:26
Speaker
clubs banger. Yeah, that's going to entertain that one. Yeah. Kale Panton, get him by here. You don't say, I don't know what rounds get him up out of here. I'll be shocked if it goes a distance, I'll be shocked, but kale plants and give him up out of here. I'll put that.
00:36:39
Speaker
I would just say, yeah, you're saying and Trevor Montgomery is about to get bit up like Gumby. I wasn't good. I just thought of it. It wasn't good. All right, title fight is Iris Landi Lada versus Danny Garcia ah for Lada's WBA a super middleweight title. What are your thoughts on this comment? Well, like i met like like I mentioned with ah about T City, the Brian Ortega. You got two fighters that.
00:37:09
Speaker
fight once every in once in a blue moon. We got Laura. um They say he's 41 years old. He's a he's a defected Cuban fighter. Shout out to my man Ruben, the Rubik's Cuban. He's always slicing him up. ah Laura is a great fighter. I think he beat Canelo. Please people rewatch that fight. He beat Canelo and he is the reason why you cannot ah when you when Canelo has a press conference, no fighters can really go up there because he's the one who snatched the mic out of his hand. If you remember that now, no fighters can really walk upon Canelo like that. That's why Dimitris Andre had to do it from the crowd and he's like payday. So he's the reason why you can't walk upon Canelo after a fight.
00:37:45
Speaker
but um He's a damn good fighter, fought a who's who. He's fought, this is how long he's been in the game. He's fought Paul Williams. He's fought Canelo, he's fought Jared Hurd, Swift Jared Hurd, who has the same similar nickname as David Garcia. He's fought Jared Hurd, local guy, DMV, shout out to him, P.J. County. But he's fought just about everybody, also trout, I believe, also. And he's still in the game at age 41, which is questionable, cuz Afonso Soriano, they said he was 19 when he was really 33 years old when he was playing with with the Mets, I believe, back in the day. So you never trust her their ah birth certificates. But, you know, he's, I mean, he's the east he's fought five times in the last five years. So, I mean, and I believe this is a catchweight for WBA, which is weird. I never knew you could be a catchweight and still be for the belt. That's, you know, whatever. Maybe that that that belt has different, ah you know, rules and regulations. But, ah you know, but he's fighting Danny Garcia
00:38:43
Speaker
Danny Garcia straight out of Philadelphia, representing Puerto Rico. you know Danny Garcia is another guy, you know he's fought a who's who, he's ex champion at 140, 147. Fought to Sean Porter's, fought to Earl Spence's, fault even fought Eric Morales twice. you know um bri i I was at the Amir Khan fight in DC, I was at the at the convention center, I was at that fight. you know So he's fought a who's who since he's been in the game. He's only 36 years old, but his last fight against was against Jose Benavita when his first fight when he moved up and I was after fighting, we lost to Earl Spence and I was after like a two year break or whatever. ah I had it written down here. He's, let's see. Okay, so he's five or three in his last eight fights.
00:39:28
Speaker
And, but they're so spaced out. That's within like, uh, like a seven year span. Okay. So he will fight, take a break, fight again, take a break, fight again, you know, say it with fighters, say stuff like, you know, Oh, I don't need to fight anymore. I got all my investments, things like that.
00:39:47
Speaker
When you start talking like that to me, you got one foot already out the door. you know You're not as focused because you already solidified your wealth and what you're going to do the next step of your life, which is great. But when you start fighting talking like that to me, that means that you're not, it just sounds like you're not as focused on task at hand. you know You're about to go into the ring with somebody who's going to try to take your head off.
00:40:06
Speaker
you know so um will Danny Garcia's rust and this is kind of like a toss up to me. Be honest with you. is it's This one's hard. This one's hard to pick, but I'm gonna go.
00:40:23
Speaker
Clubs banger. Age over anything, I'm gonna go with Danny Garcia, okay? I don't- Wow. Knockout. Really? Yeah, I'm gonna go with Garcia on this one. He's younger. He's the most wear and tear on him as much as Laura. I mean, Laura, he's fought everybody, and he's been in for a minute. I saw a picture last week. He fought Moses for a piece of bread back in the day. They was fighting and laughing. He got old, but he's one of those, you know what I'm saying?
00:40:53
Speaker
He's he's he's old as dirt. So, you know, I just I'm a big fan of him. I just think the age it catches up with everybody at some point. And I think it's gonna catch up with Laura. It was lighting Laura, you know, and ah I think Danny got Susan get him on this one. This is part of my master plan. But that's why I think we Okay, no i yeah um I'm gonna I'm gonna wait for you to bring everything full circle and and unravel your master plan.
00:41:16
Speaker
I'll do it right now. I'll do it right now. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Okay, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. It was like, Lara is a 260 favorite. So, the better, the Las Vegas does not agree with you, let's just say. They never do. You know, that's why my back's against the wall. Okay? My back is against the wall. I need some good picks. I've been slacking lately on my, on my UFC picks. I need to bring myself back up. So that's why they got the, I got the wall behind me, man.
00:41:46
Speaker
feel like that I feel like one of them cats from Heathcliff hanging out in and the alley or something right now. some y'll gonna have c okay I remember Heathcliff, that's tremendous. Heathcliff in Garfield, that's tremendous. All right, let's move to the main event. Yeah, yeah, yeah, eating the fish in the bone. You know that Alvarez is making the eighth defense of, ah you know, at least one of those super middleweight titles.
00:42:08
Speaker
Uh, depending on their stupid rules they have about stripping people and all these other stupid things. Alvarez, 61, two and two 39 KOs. Um, first one is super metal weight title back in December, 2020 over Callum Smith, uh, became an undisputed champion over the aforementioned Caleb plant in November, 2021. The IVF stripped him of a belt in July after Alvarez decided to fight.
00:42:36
Speaker
the fighter he is now, Edgar Malanda, Puerto Rico's own, Wepa Wepa, instead of the IBS number one mandatory challenger, William Scull, was who he was supposed to fight. So, um I guess technically that does mean that this is the lineal championship, ah but I'm not sure, so I'll let you explain that more, but anyways. Okay, so this is a huge fight.
00:43:02
Speaker
um burlanga is 22 and oh with 17 kos hyped prospect i know i followed his whole career because he came up and he had the like 16 fights with knockouts first round knockouts in a row or 14 something like that and it was really awesome so i was watching all his fights um i i'm gonna let you get into the the boxing schematics but in the end you can tell what what ah what is really gonna happen in a fight based on the amount of experience a person has, and that's all I'll say. Clobberty, what are your thoughts? Well, I'll start with Canelo with the belt situation. There's a reason why boxing is corrupt and people aren't fans of boxing a lot of different belts in the commissions. Yes, he got stripped by the IVF because he didn't want to fight that mandatory ah challenger, but that never stopped any other, it didn't stop the WBC for letting him skip over ah
00:43:55
Speaker
David Benavidez for three years. It didn't stop the WBA for a leg and skip over David Morrell for four years. But now the IVF girls are set and say, we're gonna strip you because you don't wanna fight our fighter. I get that, but all the commissions, all those belts need to keep that same energy because he should already fought Benavidez and he should already have fought David Morrell. Everybody knows that. So that's why when it comes to that stuff, like, eh, whatever. It's just so weird to me. And also when he fought Calvin Smith,
00:44:24
Speaker
Benavidez had just got stripped for having a legal substance um in his body of recreational drugs. And that belt was thrown in to the belt he won. That's how he got to WBC belt was kind of weird, but you don't usually see that. But um you know anyways, Canelo.
00:44:43
Speaker
I mean, he hasn't really knocked anyone out since Caleb plant. Um, I think his last five fights, uh, or last, last four or five wins have been, you dance, you dance decision. Um, they go on a distance. The last, the last five women have him on gear. He, he could have got him up but out earlier and he was nice to him. I think he could have, he could have knocked by charlotte ran that whole, oh's nice to him.
00:45:03
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it was he could ah he really could have knocked it like there's so many openings. He could have got him again about it there. But I guess he must say, you know what? I'm a, you know, after he said he's not going to fight any other Mexicans and he fights him. But, um you know, it's it's I mean, it's Canelo. I mean, his his his ring IQ.
00:45:21
Speaker
Berlanga is not even close to that. Berlanga is not even on the same atmosphere as Canelo when he comes to this. Berlanga, yes, he the first 16 fights, you know he was getting people up out of there. But then he went the the distance with a journeyman. And that's when he kind of got close. And people were like, OK, Berlanga, he's not all the hype that people thought he is. um you know And he's there, biting people. There's a couple other fights, doing some some tricks. like some He gets too emotional in the fight. And he does some things he's not supposed to do.
00:45:48
Speaker
um This fight, if anyone knows Canelo or follows Canelo's career. Berlanga reminds me of James Kirkland when they fought in Houston at the Astro Stadium back in the day. And Kirkland didn't have Anne Wolf. Powerful fighter, knocked people out, always put on a show, but had no discipline, okay? And Canelo, that was a highlight knockout. I mean, Kirkland, you hit him like he was, like I said, he put the ring on. He was with Frodo and him. He's, he was, he was with what I was, uh, whatever his name is. Lord arranged. You know what I'm saying? He was in it. He was in the shadow realm. Okay. That was factory delete a factory reset button on his body. Cause he was, it's knocked him out. Um,
00:46:32
Speaker
This fight, like with Berlanger, like I said, you know he's a proud Puerto Rican fighter for the Bronx. you know That old New Year Rican style, you know what I'm saying? He's gonna come straight at Canelo. He's not gonna he's not goingnna run. He's gonna meet him in the middle of the ring, which is cool. But if you do not have a game plan and there's too many too many highlights, if you watch this man fight, he is not disciplined, okay? He'll put some oomph in those punches, but he doesn't keep his guard up all the time. He's easy to get hit.
00:46:57
Speaker
um I think can I was gonna capitalize on this? I don't think he's gonna take him out as fast as he did Kirkland like he did Kirkland in like the first round first first and second round but uh We do we do we need a club banger for this one yeah Because ah people already know Canella will get him a body there. I'm gonna say about it by the fifth round I'll usually six seven rounds when they kind of figure the person out he gonna get him a body by the fifth round He will knock him out clean He's gonna wake up, he's gonna have a bottle of coquito in his hand, like, oh, where'd I get this from? He's gonna be back sipping on something, you know what I'm saying? He might have some red sniper mofongo. You never know, but Canelo's gonna knock his ass out. And they show the record of Mexico versus Puerto Rico. I think it's like 70...
00:47:38
Speaker
seventy or seventy nine I think Mexico's up right now on the fighters going against each other. I'm not, don't dont don't quote me on that, but I think Mexico is winning a little bit in the rivalry. But um you know ah that's one of the great boxing rivalries. We need more fighters you know going at each other like this. um But I don't, Berlenga has heart. I still see him landing a lucky lucky punch. I just don't see it. I don't see it at all. So I got Camilla getting a body there, fifth round knockout.
00:48:09
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, i I completely agree. I mean, Canelo's defense will just, by itself, be too much for Balanga. And as much as I love him being a Puerto Rican fighter and, you know, we were hoping to be one of the next up and coming better ones, and he still can be. um But taking this fight, is it's that it's not even There's not a shadow and of of a doubt in my mind that Canelo is going to easily win this battle. It sucks that Canelo runs from his main competition. It has to fight these young up-and-comers or these
00:48:49
Speaker
ah Bum nobody's or these journeyman Because honestly, we would like to see him fight not only better competition, but also ah We'd like to see some of these younger fighters be able to continue to fight and make themselves better Before having to come up against such a challenge that can derail their career early on so um Be better, Canelo, be better.

Heavyweight Title Fight: Joshua vs. Dubois

00:49:13
Speaker
You're too good, and you've been around too long, and fighting too long, and maybe that's just what it is, you know? Like, who was it that said, the silk sheets and pajamas, when you wake up in silk sheets and pajamas, who was that? Marvin Hagler, Marvin Hagler. Yeah, Marvin Hagler, right? So when you wake up, or you know, like Conor McGregor feels these days, you wake up with a lot of money. You can't wake up silk sheets and do construction work, you can't do that, you know what I'm saying? You gotta, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta put the work in. And, and Berlenga, you know, he's, he's game. Fat Joe came out on an interview. He was like, you know, the last Puerto Rican fighter, I walked to the ring. What happened? You know, so he has, you know, he's from New York. He has a New York Puerto Rican crowd. You know, it's, it's rowdy. I love it. You know what I'm saying? Wep, Wep, Wep, all that to all, all them shout outs to them, Puerto Rico and a, you know, hook a brother up with a bottle of coquito, please somebody. But, you know, it's,
00:50:06
Speaker
it's got to be It's got to be tough for him because he's not disciplined. When you get inside, your your hands are down. He used to get caught. He's been caught many a times by fighters that shouldn't be catching him. And, you know, I'm not saying I hate that word exposed, but when he fought ah the Steve Rawls, I think i was we were down in ah Orlando at a cigar shop. That fight went the distance. ah Me and my brother and Francis, we were all watching that fight. And, ah you know, I was like, damn, man, ah Berlinga should get this guy up out of there and dude was out boxing him.
00:50:35
Speaker
And then he barely pulled off the victory. Then he has a little issue with top rank and I was with the zone where Eddie heard. So, you know, um, and, and just go back to follow back on that conspiracy stuff. His last fight got him the regular or the number one contender for the WBA, which was David Morrell for the longest, but he moved up to light heavyweight. So now he, this guy gets, gets his tap shot all of a sudden, which is like, come on, man. It's typical, typical boxing politics. Yeah. And we, I mean, we, I mean, you have.
00:51:03
Speaker
lamented for many of years and on this show about the politics of boxing and how we never get what we deserve or what we want as fans because uh you know the politics and the different federations and all this stuff comes into play it doesn't allow us to be able to uh to be able to get the fights that we want and see the the the things that we want to see the action that we want to see i agree um Cool. So September 21st, there's another huge fight um that we want to talk about. And it is not the all British fight that people want to see, although they are still hoping that that may come to be after this fight. But on September 21st, there is the Anthony Joshua versus Daniel Dubois card at Wembley, Wembley Stadium, excuse me.
00:51:55
Speaker
Um, for the IBF, the vacant IBF, uh, heavyweight title. Uh, so, um, Debois, 26 years old, uh, stopped Herdovich to win the interim belt in June before being upgraded to the official champion after Usyk or Alexander Usyk vacated the regular title.
00:52:16
Speaker
He will now defend against Anthony Joshua, a former um who is aiming to become, sorry, a three-time champion, so he is a former champion, aiming to become a three-time champion at age 34, and also aiming to get the biggest fight in British heavyweight history, which would be him versus Tyson Fury, which is what they're aiming for, shall there be a victory in this matchup.
00:52:43
Speaker
um Joshua fundamentally and funny enough back in June, said he was threatening to put a chair across Dubois face, um which is comical because this is not pro wrestling. Show my friend, what do you think about this fight? Who do you think will win? oof Ooh, this early prediction. Oh, man. ah ah
00:53:10
Speaker
i I do like this fight. um I'm not a fan of the tough guy persona that Anthony Joshua tries to do sometimes just be himself, you know, just don't need to to because we had to face off a couple of these last month. He's trying to intimidate two boys and Then the boys wasn't having it and this isn't like this to meet timid at the boys who fought usic Even though he kind of I thought he did win that fight with that body shot before he got knocked out But he says low blow. Um, if you if you followed his career, he's always been kind of reserved very quiet no personality very you know but just to himself but after that fight with usic Something's changed with this guy. This guy is
00:53:56
Speaker
Legit he's a killer now. He's he's I guess he's he's uh, he's found a smile like sean michaels lost back in the day, you know, so When he fought big baby gerald miller, um, he put he put the beat down on him And that's what gerald miller came in came in gave me 300 pounds or over 300 pounds. Uh, when he fought phillip horvidge, uh Horvidge talked with so much junk. That's the guy eddie her was sizing up to be the next big thing. Um, you know, and when he fought him he beat the snot out of that man. I mean Hands feet ankles elbows everything beat his tail So this day Dan divorce is is is a new and approved and he's come he ain't playing around Anthony Joshua on the other hand ah He fought out of our wing I don't and this is me doing no freaking prep for this one. You got me off guard with this Oh, I know who's going over this one, but uh, he beat out of Waleen this last fight ah no, did he beat him or or
00:54:52
Speaker
I don't think he's going to win this fight. I don't think he's going to win.
00:55:19
Speaker
um actually waswin Yeah, I don't I don't I don't have Joshua winning this fight to voice has been looking great. He's looking theses he's he's looking very good his last two fights. Um, and I think he tried to rattle to voice with her with the face off when he got in his face and, and, you know, as you know, with the tank talk about a, dumb, dumb show respect for, you know, doing all that like And divorce looking at it like, well, what you want to do? What you want to do stood up? So he's not getting rattled by Joshua's aunties, you know, so I think divorce is coming in his fight. He's coming in, coming to take his head off. I, I don't, I mean, I got Joshua losing his fight, man. Cause the fight they want is I hear your rich celebrate. What Joshua? Cause they want the Canelo out in Canelo. They want the ah Joshua furious fight, but
00:56:12
Speaker
I mean, that that's three, four years too late. You know what I'm saying? it's like Wilder versus Joshua. That's like five years too late. You know, I just don't see it. I do not see it happening. I don't. Because if Usyk wins, you're not going to have that fight. You can have Joshua fight ah Wilder. I mean, so Joshua fight um Fury just to have them fight. It'll still sell out of wimply, but it won't be for the belts. Usyk, hell, Usyk might even retire. What is there left for Usyk after he and her fights ah Fury again, you know? so um You know who said we'll go down as one of the best Cruiserweights of all time and one of the best heavyweights of all time for his for his feats He won't be you know, maybe maybe it's along the list I'm gonna put him a top ten but you know for what he's done in his era can't deny it so that that whole Joshua first of
00:56:57
Speaker
Uh, uh, Fury is going to all predicate off if he wins this belt, because he wants to be, uh, a multiple, uh, time champion. So, and it might not happen because the voice is no joke. He's, he's very good. And then you also got, uh, Baccala and Zang, they should be fighting pretty soon too. And that's gonna be, you know, uh, uh,
00:57:16
Speaker
the brother who knocked out Jared Anderson on the undercard of Bud Crawford and Zang who knocked out a Wilder. So that's gonna be a hard hitting affair. So you got, there's some, there's some shaking up to do in the heavyweight division coming up, some shaking up to do. I cannot wait, but I'm going with a divorce. 100%. Wow. Okay. Joshua is the 450 favorite, which for him is shorter odds than usual, but damn.
00:57:42
Speaker
Uh, he's definitely the favorite. I, I, I can't see that. Um, if anything, I could, I could even see some sort of, uh, controversial decision, maybe even some money under the table, some sort of thing to make sure that that. Uh, 450. Yeah. He's a fourth. I don't care if he does a six one nine, like red material, it's going to be the boys. Okay.

Boxing's Economic Challenges

00:58:06
Speaker
That's right. that's right okay we we both had We both had a stinker today. it's right um isn I got Anthony Joshua in this one. I can't see a way that they don't try to ensure every way possible that they get Joshua versus Fury, which yeah, may not be for the belts, but I disagree. It would still be the biggest heavyweight fight in British history.
00:58:27
Speaker
um Wow. Okay. Cool. Well, there you go. Hey, cupboard D is the expert, not me. So take that to your draft Kings fan, dual ESPN bet, whatever you put in platform, you are on take the upset of Daniel Debois cause you are going to win some money if that comes to my friends. Take it. Wow. All right. Well, before we get on out of here, we got a few mail bag questions from the fans. So.
00:58:55
Speaker
First mailbag question comes from crack streams. ah who hails from parts unknown. Love that name. Hailing back to the little wrestling right there, parts unknown. Turkey Al-Ashik has vowed to lower pay-per-view prices down to around 15 or 20 dollars. Currently pay-per-view prices can range anywhere from 50 to 75 to 100 dollars for megabytes.
00:59:25
Speaker
What are your thoughts on Turkey vowing to lower pay-per-view prices? Do you think he can get this done and what will be the ultimate impact? Shout out. Thank you for the question.
00:59:36
Speaker
Turkey is shaking the game up. Okay. He is going to change boxing and he has the money to do that. Um, I love it because, uh, breaking news. Of course, Stevenson is going to have emergency hand surgery. So he's not gonna be fighting on the car with, uh, Arthur better be of worse than each of the ball for undisputed, which I'm pissed off because I, I, long as it's not them to, but I'm pissed off because One, it was a chance for him to kind of get shown in ah the world stage on pay-per-view, overseas, get a bigger fan base. He's going to fight somebody who got up out of there pretty soon and put on the show.
01:00:08
Speaker
but um Uh, boxing needs to be more open for everybody. Okay. Uh, PBCs finally put on a decent card, even though they have, you got really Romero on the undercard on Saturday, but where you got Stevie Fulton on the previous, which is a crime a crime that Stevie Fulton's not on, uh, the main card, you know, and people are paying pay-per-view prices for fights that should be on.
01:00:35
Speaker
boxing at the dark if you're HP old school HBO fan or something like that there should be on an HBO fight or a fight that should be on Fox or a or a T a spike TV back in the day like it should be free basically what I'm trying to say boxing should be more accessible to people kind of like how UFC is where they have these fight nights for free on ah on ESPN what people people are tired of paying fifty sixty dollars seventy dollars for non title fights and you know fights that aren't that great and these fight cards when's the last time we've seen a good boxing fight card you know that was back in the hbo days when the whole car would be good now you got the main ah fighter then it's like yeah you know or you got to go to the zone and find some good cards on there you know so for upcoming fighters but um that's the that's the issue with boxing and with turkey al-shik making it
01:01:25
Speaker
15, 20 bucks. That's going to stop the person who will want to stream that for free. I'm like, oh, it was $15. OK, I'll buy that. You know what I'm saying? That's not going to hurt the wallet. His goal is to try to alleviate people from illegally streaming everything. So he's making it cheaper. And I agree with him. I wholeheartedly agree with him. These should be cheaper fight cards. This fight card for PVC is like $90 on Saturday. And do you really want to pay $90?
01:01:55
Speaker
I think the last take fight was like 70, you know, so I mean, hell, you'll see is just expensive, but at least they have a lot of fights for good on the card. You know, you somebody's fights. It's like, okay, one good fight. And that's it. A bunch of prospects. So um I'm all for it. I think it's gonna, it's gonna put the pressure on um the other promoters to kind of lower their money when it comes to, uh, put on fights and whatever you see that riad season, that's Turkey Alashik, you know, saying he put the riad season out there. He's promoted the UFC card. And, but I'm like, damn, brother, and at the Boston $10, $15, why you'll see still send me sending $4. Go ahead. Talk to data. Wait about that. Turkey. Come on now. Just saying, yeah, I mean, I, I mean, you're right. And this is definitely going to have an effect on UFC. Um, and it already has. I mean, technically,
01:02:43
Speaker
with the event at the sphere, you know, Chirky Al-Ashik is the one that has the lucrative riada season sponsorship and helped make it possible for data white in the UFC to even hold the fight at the sphere, which white has said is going to top $20 million dollars just to hold that one event. Which brings us to our next mailbag question.
01:03:11
Speaker
uh from dirty roller out in Reno Nevada shout out thank you for tuning in um UFT is said to be spending over 20 million dollars thank you that's what I just said uh in this event atmosphere and is said to be losing money in this event what are your thoughts on that what are your thoughts on them trying to compete what are your thoughts on them being involved with anything boxing related Well, you got to understand what they're trying to do. The only reason why they're pushing this card is because. Turkey ahi is trying to box Canelo out. Whatever Canelo is putting on a card, he's going to put on a card with someone else to kind of counteract that. oh fucking petty I love it because he wants Bud versus Canelo.
01:04:00
Speaker
And Canelo delete is a great relationship with Turkey. She'd say, Oh, I want this kind of like Jomante. They was asked for two Ferraris or whatever. Cause he was a put on good fights. Okay. He's easy. He wants to bring balance back into boxing to where my era boxing was the best fighters fought the best. There was no excuses. There was no whatever, you know what I'm saying? There was, they wanted to fight each other nowadays. It's not like that. So he wants to bring it back to the old days where the best fight the best. Um,
01:04:27
Speaker
So, if you're gonna sell, if you're gonna sell lemonade on your block, I'm gonna sell lemonade across the street on my block. If you're gonna sell turnips on your block, I'm gonna sell turnips on my block. You know what I'm saying? So, that's basically what he's gonna do to Canelo. And, um you know, try to go him to fight in Terrence Crawford. And that falls back to my master plan, which I said prior. oh What up, Skywalk? What up, Tim? um What ill I'll say back to my my master plan was, if Crawford fights Fondora, becomes unified champion,
01:04:57
Speaker
and oh at 154. Okay. He can move up by Danny Garcia at 160. Okay. That'd be his next step up. Then He could turn around and fight Canelo at 168. That's my master plan. That's why I want Garcia to win because Garcia has been avoiding that work for years. You try to duck him at 147. That's another story. So that's my master plan for, for, that's why it's coming full circle. Why I had a basketball for Garcia to win that fight. But anyways, um, yeah, Turkey, allahik he's trying to basically box Canelo out. Okay. You got to fight this date. We're going to do one all over here on this, on this time.
01:05:33
Speaker
I might take a hit, but 20 million, that's the pocket change to him. You know what I'm saying? It's like me going to a dollar store and not spending no money. You know what I'm saying? I'm, I'm, I'm dusty. So it's whatever. But, but turkey like sheep don't care. So that's why they're, they're putting on this card to kind of go against Canelo's fight card. And it's petty, but I like it. I'm a big fan of ah a pettiness at the as long as you're using your petty powers in the right way. If you just be petty, just be petty. No, don't do that. It's a dick move. If you're petty for a reasoning, if someone provoks provokes you to be petty, then do it. Bam.
01:06:11
Speaker
it's It's definitely petty as hell because he knows that since Canelo is is rebuffing him and his offers for the Bud fight, that he's going to it's going to be petty and follow him around and try to take as much money away as possible know from him, even if it means partnering with an enemy type of promotion, which I guess you know maybe not enemies, but definitely different industries if nothing else.
01:06:38
Speaker
Yeah, shout out sky walk ah and the rest of it yeah I'll make sure you you make sure you tap in and subscribe with them for some awesome boxing Interviews last night club or D the combat G was on with them. Who are y'all interviewing last night my friend?
01:06:55
Speaker
Taj the tiger and I don't want to butcher his name, his last name, because I got to look it up real quick because, uh, you know, uh, Teasley, okay. I miss him too much with Taj. Taj Teasley is from a Allen town PA. Uh, he's 11 and 0 with five knockouts. He was on the red owl, uh, fight night on the zone last week. This man got knocked down the second round and came back to knock this man out. Um, I think it was the eighth round. He knocked him out, but the last two rounds, and Great, great young dude, great young dude. And he's he's well, he's a hell of a good interview, you know, and um and I wish nothing but the best for him. He's he's a rising welterweight. Like I said, he's 11 and oh, that's his first fight outside of PA. We fight down in Houston. um Hopefully we get to see him soon. Pretty fast, but shout out to Taj to Tiger Teasley.
01:07:40
Speaker
Shout out to Skywalker, man. He's like, hey, Clay, come on interview. You know what? I'll come. I'll show up. I might be able to interview tomorrow. We'll see. I got a minor procedure tomorrow. We'll see how banged up I am. But if I'm good to go, I might be able to be on tomorrow, 11 o'clock at night.
01:07:55
Speaker
but But yeah, we was it was ah it was a great ah it was a great card and and shout to him. Shout to a man, Tim Skywalker. Shout to Josh from 86 boxing. Shout to Papa Chugnayo, AKA my man, Ernest. um All 86 boxing. I'm gonna link up with him for the Kishan Davis fight down in ah Norfolk in November, that Friday. So I'm gonna slide down for that. We're gonna go go have some fun. But yeah, man, shout to other fellows, man. They're good peoples, good peoples.
01:08:21
Speaker

01:08:36
Speaker
Yeah, I got, I said, I got, I got, uh, I got Danny, Danny Garcia, you know, saying, uh, Laura's going to have two losses by somebody by the name Swift. The other one was Jared heard, but, uh, you know what I'm saying? I think that, uh, that's part of my master plan of Terence Crawford fight Canelo. Cause if Crawford gets Fondora, he's unified champion. Um, you know, at 154 moves up to 160 gets that belt from Danny Garcia, then he fights Canelo. So he gradually moves up, but I'm going, I'm going with a, I love, I love Airslining Laura. I love his career.
01:09:04
Speaker
But both of them have inactivity, but I'm going with a younger guy with the inactivity. And that's Danny Garcia. ah love it and I love it. I love the connecting of the storylines. You know how I like to do my storylines. I love how you connected all those storylines together. Very well done. Got a problem with the Swift. People got a Swift nickname, you know what I'm saying? Shout out to Jared Erg, P.G. County.
01:09:24
Speaker

01:10:07
Speaker
Um, great name. I used to love silk to shocker, uh, even though his, he was the most horrible rapper ever. Um, but I still love the worst. It was high five worst, but I still loved it. And I bought the CD with the white CD that looked like a credit card. Hey, shout out to him, man. He pulled Maya. He pulled Maya. Shout out to him for that. That is tremendous. Maya is, I haven't seen her in a while, but she was a very beautiful lady. She's still beautiful. You know what I'm saying? I, I, I buy dinner in a, you know,
01:10:37
Speaker
You get appetizer in a meal and dessert.

Future of Boxing and UFC Events

01:10:40
Speaker
What is the next opponent for tank Davis? Oh man, it is so like so tank. The secure back and forth score reveal that he offer was never sent Lomachenko. They're saying that. um It was a low ball offer that he got from them. um So Lomachenko said no, I don't know why he didn't reach out to the other Ukrainian champion and at 135. I'm not sure how that's up why that didn't happen. um The backup plan was gonna be pit bull crews but
01:11:11
Speaker
ah rio um Got up out of there, Venezuela. He beat him at on a tank under i'm sorry at the Crawford undercard. So now they're kind of negotiating with him, but his manager ah Garcia is saying that he won't be ready by November. So I'm not too sure who he's going to fight. It's a good question.
01:11:31
Speaker
um
01:11:34
Speaker
i Me personally, I wish you'd be like someone like Jose Zepeda who's number one and kind of all the belts He I think he's number one in the WBA with the belt the tank has ah And Zepeda, but I think they're trying to get Zepeda versus Shakur So they got Zepeda going against having farmer on ah on another undercard. So Tanks in a tough spot. He's got that he said that he wants to get all the belts after this fight, but I There's no fighter out there for him to fight. I just, no one of name and that's not new for him. Cause he sometimes doesn't fight people of name, but you know, I think tough tank is, is, is I'll be shocked if he fights Jose, it's Jose, Venezuela, I believe. So, el rio if you fight somebody, a catch little above one 40, I can see that maybe, but, uh,
01:12:22
Speaker
I don't know. I really don't know. Cause they had that date of November 2nd, I believe, or somewhere in early November that they want him to fight. So, um, tanks, tanks in a tough spot right now.
01:12:33
Speaker
Good.
01:12:36
Speaker
good And breaking news, Shakur Stevens, off the Bed-B-F fan, he emergency hand surgery. So he's not fighting Joe Cordero. That just happened about two hours ago. They just broke that news. He's having emergency hand surgery. And I believe when we spoke with Scott Walker in 86 and all of them, I kind of said something that his hand was. I forgot what round it was. We kind of held back using that hand. I think it was his right hand. But emergency hand surgery, I'm kind of pissed he's not on there. I don't know if I covered that earlier, but I'll say it again. Why not? But yeah.
01:13:07
Speaker
Yeah, you did say that earlier. I wasn't going to say anything. I was just going to. Yeah, you know, it's. It's all good. So this is the last question. It comes from me, obviously, as always. So first, your question for Clubber D, obviously, you have said and have been very you know outspoken about the impact that Turkey Al-Ashik has had had in the boxing world. You even had a sesh.
01:13:35
Speaker
session with the boys from 86 boxing skywalker box area. You all go check it out youtube at ball and buds. I just posted the video today where the boys have a 20-minute roundtable on the impact that turkey al-ashik has had so far. So for those of you that don't know a little bit of quick background before we get to cupboardee turkey al-ashik came into the public eye in 2023 and it was immense power through the uh the kingdom of saudi arabia and the public investment fund and the amounts of money that they have and all of that stuff um He was able to start bringing in events, boxing, wrestling, MMA, all kinds of things. But his influence obviously is biggest in boxing, which is the sport that he loves the most and is the one that he wants to bring all the good fights.
01:14:21
Speaker
all the good pay-per-views, lower the prices of pay-per-views as we talked about, bring fights not only to ah to Riyadh but also to bring up Las Vegas. All of these things he's doing, the most importantly I think to us as fans and as people that you know come on and talk about the sport is to have the best fight the best because that's really what we want to see. And he's bringing that back. He's bringing back at least an effort to make things better in the sport of boxing that has been languishing now for so long. So my friend, you know, everybody go check out that video on the roundtable that they had, but tell everybody what are your thoughts on chirky algae? And I know you talked a little bit earlier about the lowering of the prices of pay per view. So you have to get into that. But overall, in the short period of time that he's been around, how much impact has he had and what amount of impact can he have in the end after all is said and done?
01:15:21
Speaker
Well, it's it's kind of like the author blank of of boxing, where author blank lower the prices of of ah concession stands in in Atlanta for the Falcons games, you know, saying beer, hot dogs, or like Sam's Club and Costco prices, you know, i'm saying like you go to some places, you're paying like what, 12 bucks for a beer? I think it's what, $3 in Atlanta or something like that, or you know, it's kind of cheap. So that's what he's trying to do because, um you know, he's trying to, boxing is lower, it's it's not what it used to be, okay?
01:15:51
Speaker
i used to watch tuesday knife fights on usa i used to watch friday night fights on espn we used to be boxing on cbs back in the day uh everybody's get sidestep for uh box on HBO, not even pay for showtime fights back in members going to my dad's out when I was even young a fight, De La Jolla fight or a jones fight. same. Okay, we do watch th on pay per view. They're not a star on tv. So wha is trying to do, he's tr back to its roots as far
01:16:28
Speaker
making it more accessible for people and also He wants to get the best to fight the best and showcase that. And nowadays boxers want to oh worry about their win-loss record or worry about their they're scared to take an O basically.
01:16:46
Speaker
um It's, it's, I think it's, I think it's more so that may weather effect. I think I've mentioned that also in there's where, you know, a lot of fires are not wanting to fight each other because, um, the they, they want, they, they'll take an L they'll, they'll take a loss and there's nothing wrong with taking the loss. No fighters under, I mean, you got to make whether we fought McGregor to be that 15 old shitting account, but, uh, you know,
01:17:10
Speaker
It should be bad. It's not, it's not bad if you take a a loss. Okay. It's it's not your fighter. You know, it's perfect. Okay. So dare to be great. Get the belts and go from there. Okay. Now people just worry about the money you got, you know, Devin, Devin Haney, people hate on Devin Haney and, and hate on, uh,
01:17:28
Speaker
but Crawford all the time and all they want to do is be great and regardless of what you think about them they're in the record books as far as their accomplishments a lot of these other fighters that are hating on them won't even come close to those so 10 years from now they'll still be known these people won't so My thing is this, I think Turkey with lowering the prices, one of the big fights that fighters to fight each other and making boxing more accessible is going to be the key to get boxing back to where it needs to be. Um, you know, and the only problem for us Americans is that if he keeps having fights overseas, we have to adhere to their time. So the Arthur better be of and we've all fight that's going to be during the day. That's on Saturday, you know, allow us Americans to watch college football, you know, you're out picking,
01:18:11
Speaker
picking picking apples and and hanging out with the wife and kids. He was taking a side check out to Taco Bell. you know You could not be doing other things besides watching that fight during the day. so
01:18:23
Speaker
But, you know, it's... And it better not be picking apples, damn it. If you're out there picking apples on a damn Saturday, you know who you are, people. Grow a pair. Hey, look here. Some people be picking apples. They'd be, you know, they'd be doing, you know, stepping on grapes instead of making wine. So, hey, shout out to them. But you know what I'm saying? People got, we got stuff to do during the day, but they had to add it here to our time, our time, time zones. But you know, that's the only thing that might come with issues when he tries to have these big fights with Americans at certain times, if it's overseas, because I remember Francis Ngano, you know, they're not American. And Joshua, I had to watch that fight on a Friday when I just got off work. You know what I'm saying? And you know, so it's,
01:19:05
Speaker
it's It's a hassle, but I think people will adapt. I think that's why he had the his first fight ah in America with Terrence Crawford. There's more to come. So I feel like he's going to change the game in boxing. Only one that's PBC has had their fighters fight with fight with him. So, you know, I think he's going to bring boxing back to where it is. Picture somebody from overseas bringing boxing, bringing balance into the force as a Star Wars reference. But it is what it is. um we We need somebody to do that.
01:19:34
Speaker
I mean, that that's an understatement. We have needed someone to bring back the mystique,
01:19:47
Speaker
i aura the the prestige that boxing has been missing for so long because of the politics and because of the you know in fighting and because of the wanting to keep your owes and wanting to make that money and wanted to You know this and that and you know stay on your side of the street and all this other stuff um I mean he is I mean Whether you like the Saudi Arabians in Involvement or not and whether or not you may agree with the things that happen in their country um He himself
01:20:28

And what he has done for boxing is nothing short of a huge blessing for the boxing community and boxing fans themselves. You agree? Agreed. it's it's It's one of those things where people got to get over their prejudice as far as like seeing people that don't look like them promoting the sport. You know, ah boxing didn't start in America, so they did calm that down. um So I think boxing is on an up and up.

Bob Aaron did his best, but he could have better promoting. But Crawford, Amazon has even stepped up their game a little bit with Canelo. I'm starting to, I go on Amazon right now and I see an ad for the Canelo Alvarez fight. I'm like, Oh, you guys should have done some work to take, take David's fight. But they're starting to figure it out, but you know, they're only, but so they're only, um,

providing the this platform to have the fight on um for pay-per-view, but they're not really, you know, paying the fighter. So um it's it's all about promotion with boxing. You know, UFC is winning right now, Mixed Martial Arts, a shout out to them. I'm a big Mixed Martial Arts fan, but I started with boxing and i always my level will always be with boxing, but UFC has figured out how to do the marketing. um It's a bit of UFC fatigue right now having all these damn fight nights every other week, but they're still, you know,

put in good numbers and, and boxing will get there eventually, but it it just has to reset itself, just like everything else in life. It resets, flattens out and moves up. That's what it has to do. Uh, yeah. So, I mean, everything you said was, was spot on.
01:22:22

um But we will be remiss, cupboardee and I both as veterans, um to not say that obviously today is a one of the most impactful days in our history with 911. So I'm not going to say be cheesy and say never forget or anything like that. But I will say that cupboardee and I were both in the military at this time. And this is both ah very close to him and I in terms of impact on times of our lives. So we just want want to send our love and and prayers and blessings out to all the soldiers that keep us free in this country and to everyone that paid that ultimate sacrifice. Coming from two veterans, we love you and we wish everyone peace on this on this day and remembrance. So thanks again and we'll see you all next time.
