Today we will learn about the prophet Isaiah. God's people were not good at listening, but Isaiah faithfully reminded the people of God's love and forgiveness. Parents, want to keep talking? Here are some ideas:

Isaiah gave people good messages. Create some good messages to send to friends and family in the mail. (ages 2-4)

Israel and Judah followed other Gods and ignored the one true God. The sins of the people caused God to allow them to be taken away from their home. Isaiah warned them that this would happen if they did not change their ways. He told the people the truth even though the truth was difficult. Have you ever told the truth, even though it was hard? (ages 5-9)

Isaiah's name means "God to the rescue." What does your name mean? Ask your parents to share how they chose your name. Isaiah tried to rescue the people by telling them God's truth. What would you have to do to live up to your name? (ages 10-12)

One last thing! This week April asked you to “What does your name mean?”. Simply record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. You may even be featured in an upcoming episode. *By sending in a voice memo, you’re providing consent for your minor’s voice to be on the podcast*

We are so happy that you are here to listen to the next part of God's big story.
00:00:20
Speaker
I'm Miss April, and I'm so excited about today's episode, which is all about the prophet Isaiah. I love Isaiah because he reminds God's people that they are special.
00:00:32
Speaker
God has made them to bring healing, love, and goodness to the world. God's people don't do a great job of listening, but Isaiah continues to remind them

who they are. His message is so important.

Last week, Ms. Hannah asked, when have you seen God's power at work? Here's what you told us. My baby cousin, she had surgery on her brain because this little thing was growing on her brain.

Speaker
And ah we just kept praying and praying and praying. She's all better now.

Facts and Prophecies of Isaiah

00:01:10
Speaker
He healed me when had surgery. Whenever was doing my routine at a gymnastics meet, one of my arms were back and my head was really close to the ground and I almost broke my arm. But thankfully I didn't.

Speaker
Love it. Thank you for sending in your thoughts. Today we'll hear from an awesome kid with some super fun facts about Isaiah. um It's time for us to focus.
00:01:41
Speaker
I'm Kate and I'm 11 years old. I'm James and I'm 9 years old. Isaiah was a dad. Isaiah's wife was a prophetess. What's that? It's a girl prophet.
00:01:51
Speaker
Isaiah told people that Jesus was coming 700 years before he came. That's a lot of years. The kings of Israel and Judah were not following God, so the Lord decided to send prophets to help God's people.
00:02:06
Speaker
A prophet is a messenger of God. God tells them what to say and the prophet gives the message to the people. The Bible tells us that a man named Isaiah had a dream about God.
00:02:19
Speaker
God sat on a throne like a king and he was surrounded by angels that were singing. One angel came over to Isaiah and touched his lips. Then God spoke.
00:02:31
Speaker
Who will talk to my people for me?

Isaiah's Warnings and Assurances of Hope

00:02:34
Speaker
Isaiah quickly shouted, I'll go, send me. Friends, I love Isaiah's answer.
00:02:42
Speaker
He was quick to say yes to God. I want to be a person that is quick to say yes to God. God needed Isaiah to tell the people to stop doing bad things and to do what was right.
00:02:56
Speaker
Isaiah said to the people, "'Listen, everyone, there is good news for you. If you change and turn back to God, he will forgive you and protect you from your enemies.
00:03:09
Speaker
But if you don't change your behavior, you will be punished. This land will be taken over by other people. You will be very, very sad.'" Isaiah told the people, but the people did not pay much attention to him.
00:03:23
Speaker
They didn't care about what he had to say. Isaiah kept trying. Friends, even when you disobey, God still loves you. God wants to bring you blessing.
00:03:35
Speaker
He wants you to have your own land. He wants the evil rulers to go away. He wants you to enjoy picnics and have fun with your kids. Please turn to God and you will have these wonderful things.
00:03:49
Speaker
God's people seem to have forgotten that they were meant to show the world who God was. They were meant to love the world and to bring goodness wherever they went. Instead, they acted like they didn't even know God.
00:04:04
Speaker
Sadly, God's people would not listen to all of Isaiah's warnings. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way. God punished his people.
00:04:15
Speaker
They lost their land and entered a time of great sadness. But God did not give up on them. He would never stop trying to win their hearts.
00:04:26
Speaker
God told Isaiah that someone special would be born who would teach his people how to live. He was talking about Jesus. Long before Jesus was ever born, Isaiah knew that he was coming and that he would rescue God's people.
00:04:43
Speaker
I'm so happy that God shared this with Isaiah. It must have been so hard to talk to God's people over and over and plead with them to follow God and be very much ignored.
00:04:56
Speaker
God was reassuring Isaiah that good things were coming. His people would not be lost forever.

Reflecting on Personal Names and Stories

00:05:04
Speaker
So let's get to the point. God doesn't give up on his people and he won't give up on me.
00:05:08
Speaker
God's people ignored God and disobeyed him, but God kept loving them. When we make mistakes and don't listen to God, God still loves us. Isaiah's story reminds us that we can always turn back to God. Isaiah's name means God to the rescue.
00:05:28
Speaker
What does your name mean? Ask your family to tell you how they chose your name. Make sure to tell us what your family talked about so we can feature you in an upcoming episode.
00:05:40
Speaker
Record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. We can't wait to hear from you. Don't forget, God loves you with a great big love.
