Preseason Wrap-Up and AFC East Preview
00:00:16
Speaker
What is up, Goal Line listeners? We are back. We are only have a couple episodes left on our preseason before we officially kick off season three the Goal Line. We're going to be previewing the AFC East in addition to catching up on a bunch of other news and notes from around the league. But before we get into all of that, Jordan, how you doing, man?
00:00:34
Speaker
I'm doing good, man. We just had our first full week of preseason, so we got that in the rear view. And yeah, man, we got college football next weekend, so I'm good, man. It's football season. It's upon us.
Youth Football and Preseason Reflections
00:00:47
Speaker
Yeah, if you guys can hear a little bit of the yeah the tired tone to my voice, man, I'm just getting back. It's about 10.30 Central Time on Tuesday evening as we're hitting the record button on this. And yeah, we had our the 8U Arlington Tigers had their first scrimmage tonight. We did pretty good, man. yeah Definitely got off to a slow start. you could tell it was a lot of the kids first time.
00:01:08
Speaker
ever playing tackle football against, ah you know, the kids that weren't their buddies and stuff, man. But we we finished off real strong, man, as it went on. So a lot of a lot of good stuff to learn from. Brett had a nice run. It was a good time, man.
00:01:20
Speaker
I just sent Jordan a picture. Dude, Jordan, how sick are the freaking jerseys these kids are wearing this year? Yeah, these these kids have no idea what it's like to live in poverty for high school football. I mean, dude, high school football, we were wearing Rydell athletic jerseys. The mesh with the screen printed numbers, dude. Like their numbers are flaking off and shit, dude.
00:01:39
Speaker
Yeah, these kids got their last name on their jerseys and shit. Like I never had my last name on my jersey. So, yeah, these kids have no idea how good they've got it. Yeah, man. Jordan, any other news and notes before we dive into it?
00:01:52
Speaker
No, no. well I think we're good. All right. Get us into the week of football, man.
Cam Ward's Preseason Performance
00:01:56
Speaker
All right. I figure let's talk a little bit about preseason. Um, the two biggest things I wanted to hit on, obviously Cam Ward, cause, uh, you're a Titans fan.
00:02:04
Speaker
Any thoughts on what you saw or what you didn't see? from man It was steady. Uh, I know they said that they really kind of just gave him ah a couple of base plays to run. They said that they didn't really game plan at all based off anything Tampa was doing. I'm sure Tampa was running pretty vanilla defenses anyways.
00:02:20
Speaker
Um, I thought it was steady. He looked like he belonged. Didn't look like it was too big for him. and You know, he definitely obviously he wasn't doing some of the crazy, you know, NFL street style, nonchalant stuff that he was doing at Miami last year. But he definitely very relaxed employees in the pocket. And yeah, look like he belonged, man. So jury's still out on how he's going to translate over 17 game season. But there was nothing that made me think like, you know, any buyer's remorse off that number one pick off what we saw.
00:02:45
Speaker
Yeah, I thought he looked good as well. I mean, like you said, it's just completely vanilla offense. So, yeah again, people that get either overly excited or overly down on preseason, I'll never
Significance of Preseason Wins
00:02:56
Speaker
understand. Because, dude, the defenses are running a vanilla defenses. Like, whether or not they play great or they play horrible, you can't read too much into it. Yeah.
00:03:06
Speaker
It's preseason, dude. these yeah These are fucking practices with with plays. That's all. I mean, that's all these already. They're just fucking dual team practices. That's it. Yeah. What was it? That 2008 Lions team that went 0 and 16. I'm pretty sure they went 4 and 0. It was either them or the Browns. well i One of the teams that went winless here recently, they went 4 and 0 in the preseason that year but before they went out there.
00:03:27
Speaker
And lost every game of the season. You know, I never, I don't think preseason ever meant that much. It definitely hasn't as much over the last 10 years or so, man. You remember kind of back in the day that week three preseason game was always kind of like damn near like a regular season game. Like you'd see the starters play into the second half a little bit, but even that's kind of gone away over the years, man, is it's just, ah you know, I think teams just know your best bet, just not getting anybody hurt, man. I think just staying healthy through your preseason is the number one thing.
00:03:54
Speaker
the number one goal shit speaking about that the bangles playing their starters for an entire quarter is absolutely insane to me considering joe burrow has not entered a season healthy in four seasons like dude what the fuck are you thinking i get what they're doing like i i get like hey man we've had the slow starts dude they gotta do something different right Yeah, but the slow starts have killed in the last few years. I don't know if this is
Shadour Sanders' Depth Chart Debate
00:04:18
Speaker
the answer to it, but, you know, at least they, at least I feel like if you're the the coach, at least you can say, Hey, we tried something different to make sure we're not coming out flat. Dude. yeah I just did a quick stat check. Yeah. That 08 Lions.
00:04:30
Speaker
So the 2008 Lions, this team that went 0 and 16. I think they were worse than that Browns team that went wins well a couple of years ago, man. Those 08 Lions were just horrible. They outscored their, they went 4 and 0 and outscored their opponents 80 to 32 in the preseason. Yeah.
00:04:43
Speaker
Yeah, well, when you take preseason seriously, that that's what you get. Like, if you're really getting jacked over a preseason game, I don't really know what to tell you. I get yeah i i literally, I follow along for the Falcons preseason games, obviously, because I'm a huge Falcons fan and I want to see the guys that are on the cut line whether or not they make the team.
00:05:02
Speaker
And individual performances can matter, but I don't think you really need to – maybe you get excited if there's a nice drive, but nobody should be getting hype off what the you know what the scores are and stuff off preseason games. Yeah, the Falcons don't even believe in playing starters, so I mean i yeah I don't even know what I'm getting jacked or not jacked about, so it doesn't really matter.
00:05:19
Speaker
I will say Cam Ward had a very – one thing I saw was a little you know silver lining. Hopefully it wasn't just ah a one-off. looked like him and Calvin Ridley definitely – got a serious connection, man. I think they had, you know, three attempts, three completions for a little over 50 yards. Yeah.
00:05:33
Speaker
And all the local media has been talking about how him and him and Ripley have really, really hit it off, dude. So, you know, really quietly had a thousand yarder season last year. I'm not the biggest fan of the guy, ah but, you know, I definitely think he's going to be, you know, he could be a ah poor man's Terry McLaurin to, to Cam Ward's poor man, Jaden Daniels. I think that the Titans will have little something to be excited about this year. Yeah, I think Calvin Ridley is still a good player. It's just whether or not he's motivated or not. We've discussed that 20 different times. But ah let's just talk about the other big news from
Quarterback Choices for the Browns
00:06:04
Speaker
preseason. Shadour, this is your boy. So let's go ahead and talk about it. He moved from fourth on the depth chart to fourth on the depth chart. Hey, I don't know what's going on, man. Why they're hating on this guy, dude. If if you've ever watched football before,
00:06:22
Speaker
There's no way you could see that and say, yeah, you know what? I'd rather roll out a 55-year-old Joe Flacco at QB. Dylan Gabriel should be higher than this guy on the depth chart. I mean, I i literally have no explanation, dude. If somebody that hadn't seen football in 10 years dropped down and was like asking me to explain that situation, there would be no logical way you could tell me that he should be number four on the depth chart.
00:06:43
Speaker
Pro football focus, they graded out the six rookie quarterbacks that got a decent amount of playing time this week. Guess who graded out number one? I mean, I would hope it would be Shidor. He played an entire half. It was Shidor. Yeah. I mean, dude, you could play a whole half and grade out horribly though, man. Like, dude, so he he graded out at 82. Jackson Dart was at 80. And then it drops all the way down to a 55 with Jalen Milrow for the Seahawks. So, again, like Jordan said, man, obviously we're not crowning him. You know, put we can put the gold jacket away.
00:07:11
Speaker
um You know, we don't need to start sizing him up for that just yet. But, dude. One, I really truly believe, man, like my mortgage payments on the line, dude, I think he gets them the most wins this year ah for the Browns.
00:07:24
Speaker
And two, more than that, dude, if you're going to suck, at least give your fans something to be excited about, man, something to pin their pin their hopes on, dude. And Shador is at least hope, dude. what What is... How do you sell your fan base? do do you Pretend you're the Browns owner, dude. How do you sell your fan base on... We're running it back with Joe Flacco, who had a you know a little bit of a run with us two years ago.
00:07:46
Speaker
And that's what we're going to do in the year year of our Lord 2025. mean... i mean ah yeah I can't convince you of anything. The problem is, is i already can tell you what's going to happen. I mean, he Stefanski already said he's naming the starter next week and I can guarantee you that ain't going be Shadour's name getting called. Like I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong.
00:08:07
Speaker
Kenny Pickett should be nowhere near the starting quarterback job. That is the one thing that I think is absurd. Gabriel, whatever. i mean, they drafted him before Shadour. So I get that's probably some window dressing more than anything, but ah Dude, it's the fucking Browns, man. They still have Deshaun Watson under contract. like you're You're trying to bring logic to an illogical situation. like i don't know what you're getting against me i feel it I don't know why you're getting caught up in this. like Dude, it's the Browns. Because I Shadour, love Deion, which means I like Shadour. You knew this when it happened. That was the worst situation for him to go into.
00:08:46
Speaker
Literally, there's no worse situation
Ideal Team Fits for Shadour Sanders
00:08:49
Speaker
for him to go into. They have six goddamn quarterbacks under contract, dude. Like, who else is doing that? Like, yeah I mean, yeah he's getting the fans excited.
00:08:59
Speaker
Like, what other franchise that sucks as bad as the Browns do is continuing to do this to their fan base. Like, you you have a guy on the bench right now who's, like, bringing life. And all yeah everybody knows how I feel about Shador. I mean, i don't need to go into this for time. He's softening on him. I know i know my my my dog. He's softening up on him a little bit, dude. I i can feel... Well, he doesn't play... feel the yeah You know, like when the Grinch's heart started to grow a little bit, I can feel the ice around the part of the heart that, you know, Jordan's got set for Shador, dude. It's starting to thaw just a tiny little bit, man. Well, it's because he doesn't play at Colorado anymore. I hate Colorado, so he doesn't play there anymore, so now we're good. and
00:09:36
Speaker
It's just... dude it's the browns man there's no there's that is the explanation it's the browns like i'm with you i i think this team is going be bad if you're going to be bad at least give the fans something to be excited about yeah man and dude what's the hurt and if he goes out there and plays like dog shit then you can just be like see this is why this guy was a fifth round pick like you take a told we told y'all's asses dude you can tell the fans this is what you asked for man uh Yeah. I don't know. what What do you think, just for conversation, what do you think the best situation, what if you know if you're Shador and you know you know you realize, hey, this first round tumble is happening, what do you think the best place he could have landed would have been?
00:10:16
Speaker
um Steelers Steelers bro oh my god bro we are fucking synced up dude I think the exact same thing dude I think the Steelers won the Steelers always did that that is I know that they you know they haven't had the playoff success in years past but that is still such a well-run organization dude I my kid was going in the NFL, I'd be so happy. And he wasn't like just a straight up, you know, can't miss superstar. I would be so happy if the Steelers drafted him, dude. It seems like they do a really good job picking players that they know are going to fit their system.
00:10:47
Speaker
They do a great job with development there. And it's just, it's just competent, right? The Steelers never straight up, have never just have like the bottom fall out and just have like a straight up dog shit season, man. And I agree with you, dude. I think you could, think it would have been a good fit for him to roll in there and start as a rookie, right? Under Mike Conlon or,
00:11:03
Speaker
You know, have a year under Aaron Rodgers, dude. You know, if they're still bringing Aaron Rodgers in, let him sit behind Rodgers. Watch, you know, i don't know how much of a mentor Rodgers is going to be, but you can at least watch the guy play, watch how he prepares and stuff, and then roll him out there in year two or three. I agree with you, man. think the stewards would have been just a perfect landing spot. Dude, like the more I look back on this, like just the draft and everything –
00:11:24
Speaker
I just think it's the clown show that they brought to the draft, like just the the whole draft room being built in their house and all. The NFL will humble you quick. du If you're not, you gotta be there. There's a certain talent. There's a certain level of talent and potential,
00:11:39
Speaker
where that shit goes out the window. And I think Shador just overplayed his hand. Shador is just not that dude. I think he could be a ah really solid QB. i don't think he's a straight up franchise changer by himself. And if you're going to have all that stuff, you better be like a freaking no joke, like undeniable franchise change, franchise changing type talent.
00:11:57
Speaker
Yeah, dude. i You literally have to be like a top five QB in the league to bring all that shit with you. Like, Dude, why didn't he why was there no... I mean, i we know the reason why, but I'm just like asking a lot. like Why was there no one in his team that was like, hey, dude, I think you should go to the draft and cut all the glitz and glamour and all the camera shit out and just do the draft like a ah just like everybody else does it. You know what I mean? like don't Don't try to outshine it. Just go there.
00:12:27
Speaker
Be professional about the whole situation. Get drafted. Because you're right, dude. You have to be so fucking good... for a franchise to just be like, okay, we'll just look past all this shit. Because, dude, you know this shit ain't going to just end at trend at preseason. Oh, yeah.
00:12:42
Speaker
I mean, yeah they're going to want cameras in the locker room shit. And, like, as an NFL franchise, I get not wanting to have that. I mean... It's... Yeah, totally... It's a totally... Different set of circumstances, but it's similar situation to Tim Tebow and Colin Kaepernick, dude, guys who are good enough to be on NFL rosters, right? And just off their ability, but they bring so much hoopla and attention and spotlight on your team.
00:13:08
Speaker
And they just aren't good enough to be worth it. You know, when, when, when Kaepernick was kind of getting driven out of league or railroaded, whatever you want to call it. Everybody went on on about how good he is. I'm like, yeah, he was good, but he wasn't good enough for teams to want to deal with all that stuff, dude. If it was Aaron Rodgers, if it was 2016 Aaron Rodgers that was protesting, dude, teams would be falling over themselves to bring him in, man, and give him a platform and and welcome it, dude. But you you know it's it's next man up in the NFL. it's like the It's the most militaristic of all the sports. And, dude, they want guys who are just going to put their heads down and be good soldiers, man.
00:13:39
Speaker
and not bring the spotlight unless you bring in something that they can't replace. And unfortunately, you're Tim Tebow, if you're Colin Kaepernick, you're Shador Sanders, you're just not irreplaceable, man. You're just not. And so teams aren't going to want to deal with all the the rest of the attention you're bringing in with you.
00:13:52
Speaker
I think the the better comparison than than the two you brought up is Johnny Manziel. Like coming out of college, oh yeah I thought that dude was can't miss. The problem was, is was he ever going to be able to get out of his own way? And clearly we know the answer is no, he couldn't get out of his own way.
00:14:09
Speaker
But, dude, I seriously think if he didn't do all that clown shit in college, I think Manziel ends up as a top five pick in that draft. Like, there were so many QB needy teams in the top five of that draft that year, and none of them wanted to touch him. I mean, dude, Jerry Jones came out, and he was like, I just don't know if we can handle that.
00:14:27
Speaker
Jerry Jones, the the the ringleader of the fucking circus in Dallas, didn't want to take the chance on Johnny Manziel and and him disrupting what they had going in Dallas. Like, dude, that should tell you everything. If Jerry Jones doesn't trust that you can't be just like ah a great person, great player, I don't really know to tell you because Jerry Jones is the ringleader of the circus right now.
00:14:52
Speaker
You're 100% right on that analysis of the situation. I'll counter that with saying, if you love football and ever just want a straight up dopamine hit, search like Johnny Manziel, like 2012, 2013 highlights, man. Dude was one of the best college football players of all time, man. Just like...
00:15:14
Speaker
So entertaining, man. Like, I love watching Manziel highlights. Go look up highlights from 2012 when he beat Alabama and Tuscaloosa. Just one man freaking show, dude. Him, Mike Evans, Ryan Swope. That was such a fun two years of ah football. They were Texas A&M. That's what I was about to say. Like, dude, watch that and then watch Nick Saban's interview after the game and how pissed he is that Manziel just did that to them in that game. Like, that that's still one of the most unreal – individual efforts i've ever seen in my life like i think the only thing for me that overshadows it is that there was a couple tommy fraser games that i just watched and it was like on absolutely unreal this guy's doing this i was about to bring up uh tommy fraser too something about it it i definitely i love college football dude i definitely prefer the nfl
00:16:04
Speaker
But what I'm like, you know, knocking a few back on the weekends, dude, just chilling out, dude, like scrolling like college, football like old school college football highlights are my go to
Memorable College Football Highlights
00:16:13
Speaker
man. I love watching some of my favorite college players, dude, like the Johnny Manziel, Tommy Frazier's another one, dude, I always put, you know, Tebow gets all the buzz, dude, because for, you know, best college football player of all time.
00:16:23
Speaker
Dude, people go back and watch some Tommy Frazier, dude. Like, yeah, he was running the triple option, so it looks a little bit different from what, what you know, most, you know, all-time great QBs look like. But, dude, Tommy Frazier was like – he was one of my first loves in football, dude. Because i kind my dad kind of brought me in by watching college football, man. just remember them, like, battles that they'd have for Florida State for the national championship and stuff, man. That 95 Nebraska team, like, dude was just a – just an unbelievable football player, man. Yeah. Like Tommy Frazier, dude, Charlie Ward.
00:16:51
Speaker
You want to go deep cuts, man. Like some major Applewhite back at a Texas man, stuff like that. Like that dude, those videos are just so much fun to watch. There there's there's ah been quite a few like college wall players that I've watched that just individually. It's just unreal to watch. Like all the guys you mentioned, I'd put Charles Woodson up there too.
00:17:10
Speaker
And Dominican Sue in college was the most dominant player I've ever watched in my life. Like, To this day, I've never seen anything like that. And, like, people don't realize how good he was because those Nebraska teams were just – they were kind of good. Dude, he should have won the Heisman, man. He should have been the defensive guy to win the Heisman. That's what I was 100% going to say, dude. Just after, like, that Texas Big 12 championship game, go back and watch that game and watch him just destroy – a line that half those guys went in the first two rounds the NFL like Colt McCoy was having nightmares about Sue for like the next 10 years I mean it's just unreal to watch but yeah college football is just incredible man it's it's obviously changed a little bit now with NIL it's not as much for love of the game anymore but still really high quality football so
00:17:58
Speaker
Yeah, it's still a fun game to watch, man. I'm with you, man. i kind of I just kind of turn a blind eye to the NIL stuff, man. i just I don't get too attached to individual players, so figure most of them are probably there, you know, and done before they move on to a...
00:18:11
Speaker
A better situation, but still a really fun game to watch with just the wide open style of play. and Yeah, like said, man, some of those ninety s early 2000s college players are so fun to go back and relive some of their highlights. see Like 99 Michael Vick Virginia Tech highlights, dude. Just straight up changed the game. They hit different for sure.
00:18:30
Speaker
Yeah. All right, we got way off course here. I think that's what we're all about here, though. It's preseason, We've got to have some fun. Yeah, that's really all I had for preseason notes. um We can get into the AFC East now.
00:18:42
Speaker
Dude, I was so busy today, man. I didn't really get a chance to check it out. would Did anything come out of any many stories or blurbs? Anything come out of the the Falcons and Titans joint practices there in ATL?
00:18:53
Speaker
The only things I saw today was just I saw some Drake London highlights and some some panic stuff, but I didn't see anything like overly over the top on either side.
00:19:04
Speaker
ah just no fire seemed like a joint practice to me. they said They said it was a good football and stuff, but I mean, Neither one of those teams was very good last year, so I'm not really surprised that we're not getting a bunch out it. I thought the Falcons were pretty decent, man. I think you said you'd be a little hard on the Falcons. They were.
00:19:22
Speaker
ah what's What's your take on preseason fights, man? You hear there's some fights breaking out in camp. Are you like, all right, good, we we got some dogs, dude? Or are you thinking like, oh, man, now like this they're just out of control, playing undisciplined?
00:19:35
Speaker
I mean, I think there's ah there's a line to it. like i a little bit of it's good, a lot of it's bad, though. Yeah, I don't want to see, like, just all-out meltdown fights on the field. So, i don't know, man. It's tough. Like, I'm all for, for like, the the players wanting to go out there and get scrappy. But, like, dude, sometimes it just goes over the line. i mean...
00:19:57
Speaker
Really? Like, I get it, dude. There's a lot of test. You're not getting better, dude. No. yeah i' Like, dude, punching somebody's fucking helmet ain't making you better. You just look like a fucking moron. And, dude, the other thing I can tell you just from coaching youth football, obviously it's a million miles from the NFL. Dude, from playing through, like, the ninety s and early 2000s from now, I can tell you, dude, football has changed, man. Like, the way they teach coaches to coach and just the overall game, like, a lot of the – the the The violence is definitely still there, man, but it's definitely not as glamorized and not as big a part of the game was as it was when when we were kids and young adults, man.
00:20:32
Speaker
So here you go. Here's from a Titans writer or somebody that was right about Titans today. Overall take from the first Titans joint practice today is not good. Seems sluggish to start offensively. A lot of balls on the ground.
00:20:46
Speaker
Struggled to run the ball in team period early too. Meanwhile, Michael Penix and the Falcons cut up the Titans secondary. It's one practice, so no need to panic, but today was not good. Yeah, the Titans, d it again...
00:20:59
Speaker
Keeping in mind everything we said about the preseason earlier, the Titans defense did not look good in that week one preseason game as well. i want to say they gave up something like 178 yards on the ground, which is a lot. So, I don't know. look nice I think there's a very good chance the the Falcons or the Titans are picking in the top five again next year in the draft. Yeah, that's not good.
00:21:18
Speaker
That is good at all. All right, let's get into the AFC East,
Patriots' Regime Change and Expectations
00:21:23
Speaker
man. So we'll kick it off with the New England Patriots. Full regime change. Ugly year last year, man. not Not a whole lot of ways to kind of dress this one up. They went four and thirteen after going four and thirteen the year before, which saw Bill Belichick kind of kind of resigned, kind of retired, not brought back. It was it was the end of the the Belichick reign of dominance in New England.
00:21:45
Speaker
They went three and six in one score games, 30th on offense, 22nd in defense. This was not a good team. Was last year's success, I'd say it was an absolute disaster. but in the you know Obviously, their record was at the bottom, too, but I'd say they were definitely the mix. Probably the ugliest season in all of ah the NFL last year.
00:22:02
Speaker
Yeah, they were in the mix and definitely ugliest season for the Patriots in the last 25 years, 30 years, basically. So, yeah, not a good look at all. Hired Gerard Mayo. We all know how that went.
00:22:15
Speaker
Did not go and Jordan called it. If you're a longtime line listener, we called it at the in the offseason year before. We said, dude, you do not want to be the guy – following Belichick. I think Vrabel saw that, dude, because I feel like that job, that conversation had to have come up for Vrabel to be the one to follow him. He's a smart guy. We always said, you want to be the guy following the guy. You don't want to be the guy, ah you know, going right after Belichick, man. So I think...
00:22:40
Speaker
Yeah, i think Gerard Mayo was doomed. i'm I'm not sure there was anything he could have done. that I thought he would have got more than one season, but I didn't think there was anything he could do to secure himself as the the long-term coach there with that roster he was taking over.
00:22:52
Speaker
i mean, all things considered, ah obviously on the football field, no, it was not a success. But to me, like, dude, they got the right guy now with Mike Vrabel.
00:23:04
Speaker
They got the right quarterback. I think with – i don't know, man. i like Again, they were 4-13. It can't be considered a success. But they were a scrappy team for a lot for some of those games. i mean And like Drake May is going to be good. so like yeah They got the right guys in place now. I'm i'm kind of interested to see how this goes. Obviously, I'm not going to say excited because I don't want the Patriots to be good again. I don't need another 10-year run of that.
00:23:30
Speaker
But, um yeah, I mean, they're definitely an interesting team if for nothing else. And they spent a shit ton of money this offseason.
00:23:40
Speaker
Yeah, dude. So they spent a lot of money. i don't know if any of these signings really moved the dealo They made a lot of... I would say they made like a lot of... ah a lot of kind of like mid-level moves. You know what I mean? Brought a lot of vets. Brought in Stephon Diggs for Houston, which that's getting kind of weird. Did you see that?
00:23:56
Speaker
ah Did you see the story coming on that? you know, he didn't play, and Vrabel was on the radio, was very short about it, just said coach's decision, and did not elaborate at all, man. I wouldn't be i would be shocked to we ended up seeing Stephon Diggs not make it to the regular season roster, dude. I think the sun might be setting on his NFL days, man. Yeah, there's something not right upstairs. He might have CT already.
00:24:15
Speaker
I mean, he's with Cardi B now. He's definitely got CTE. Yeah. Milton Williams, Carlton Davis. They pick up Harold Landry. Harold Landry was a good, a solid playmaker for the Titans. So, you know, I think obviously Vrabel is very familiar with his game, dude. So I think that was probably, you know, kind of bringing him in to be a little bit of a glue guy there on defense. whoa whoa whoa Don't be leaving my boy out. I love Robert Spillane. That dude is nasty at football. He was the the middle linebacker for the Raiders last year. That dude is fun to watch.
00:24:45
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. i think it i think was i can't I think it was the year before last. I don't think it was last year before last. He had just a badass game on Monday Night Football when we were watching. um But yeah, dude, good football player.
00:24:56
Speaker
Dude, two really good draft picks, man. light They got Will Campbell, just absolute stud of an offensive lineman at at LSU. like If you look at the guy, look at his highlights, just kind of look at his personality. like I feel like he's kind of like Joe Alt there for San Diego, dude. You you feel like you can go ahead pencil him in and be all pro for the next eight or nine years, man.
00:25:16
Speaker
I feel like he's close to a can't miss as you can get from that draft. and Then they got Trevion Henderson running back out of Ohio State. So i I like the moves, man. They definitely have improved the roster. I think they're giving themselves a chance to be pretty competitive.
00:25:29
Speaker
And one thing about Vrabel, man, you know, i know a lot of people in Tennessee kind of soured because he can be pretty conservative as a coach just with his game plans and personnel decisions. But the guy is a master of making chicken salad out of chicken shit, dude. Like he...
00:25:45
Speaker
I think almost to his detriment, man. I think some of those later Titans years, dude, I think the ownership was probably looking to maybe just go ahead and tank it out. But he found a way to freaking scrap together wins, no matter who he had out there on the roster.
00:25:59
Speaker
um I'm a big fan. I was bummed when he got let go by the Titans as head coach. Thoughts on Drake May from last year, man? What did you think of of of Drake May? Dude, I thought from what he showed last year with the team that they had surrounding him, I got high hopes for him this year, man. I mean, assuming the supporting cast comes to play, I got really high hopes for Drake May, man. He's going to...
00:26:21
Speaker
I mean, outside of Jaden Daniels, like how would you rank the three rookie quarterbacks? out I mean, Jaden Daniels is obviously one by a mile, but like. I take Drake May over over Caleb all day, bro. i You know, I said that before the draft last year, dude. I thought Drake May was going to be the best. I was a big fan of Drake May.
00:26:39
Speaker
Coming out North carolina Carolina, obviously did not see this Jane Daniels thing going. I was not very high on Jane Daniels. So, you know, um don't don't take me as some sort of Oracle when it comes to these college quarterbacks.
00:26:49
Speaker
But I loved what I saw to Drake May. I'm not sure you could have thrown him into a worse situation with just the coaching staff, the roster situation, the skill players he had around him. And he was out there getting it, dude. I thought he played very tough.
00:27:03
Speaker
May plays when, you know, when given the opportunity. I think the future is very, very bright for Drake May. I agree. i I think he played really well with not a lot around him. Like I said, and i just, yeah, man, I think he's going to be really good. Assuming he's, uh, he's brought up correctly and they actually get some skill position players that can actually make some plays, but they did get Travion Henderson, who I do think will end up being starting running back for this team. And I think going be really good. So yeah, I got high hopes for Drake May.
00:27:34
Speaker
So outlook for this year, dude, I think they're going to around seven wins. You know, maybe, maybe they get to eight or nine. If they can get some lucky bounces, dude, I just, I still don't love the roster enough. So I think we're going to see some marked improvement. I think Drake may is to have a big year, but I think they're going to be kind of be flirting with 500. I don't, I'm not sure I can see myself or or see them getting much higher than that.
00:27:55
Speaker
Yeah. I'm with you. I was going to say seven wins as well. Like we are just, we're in tune with each other tonight. Um, I could see them getting to eight or nine, but I think everything would have to bounce right for them, which they've got Mike Vrabel, so anything's possible. But yeah, I'll peg them at seven wins. I think they're going to go about seven and 10, eight, nine.
00:28:15
Speaker
All right, a team I don't think is winning seven
Jets' Struggles and Leadership Changes
00:28:18
Speaker
games this year. Let's go to the New York Jets, man. They go 5-12 last year, which is kind of surprising how they even got to 5-12. That's after going 7-10 in 2023. There were 3-7 in one-score games. 25th on ah offense, 20th in defense. Nothing to write home about, but those those aren't straight up in the basement of the league.
00:28:38
Speaker
But I feel like this was a situation where, you know, you know, two plus two equal three, dude. Like it just, they they were not that good, man. um Was last year's success? I'd say no, man. We see the QB head coach, basically full full regime change.
00:28:53
Speaker
It was a disaster, dude. I really don't have anything. Only thing I could say good about them is they did finally have some stuff click in the last month of the season and Aaron Rodgers was looking like, you could at least kind of see some glimpses of like Packers, Aaron Rodgers during the last month of last season.
00:29:10
Speaker
But, not much at all to be excited about if you were a Jets fan last year. Yeah. Full regime change again, by the way, like, dude... This team is so poorly ran from the top down. It's yeah it's bad. I would be very – think the Saints have the worst situation in the NFL. I think the Jets have the second worst situation in the NFL.
00:29:35
Speaker
This is not a good football team. This is not a good roster. They have pieces of a good roster, but overall it's not a good roster. I think they're going to be worse than last year, honestly. like i'd Oh, yeah. Yeah.
00:29:48
Speaker
I like Aaron Glenn a lot. I really do. I think he's a really good defense coordinator. I'm not sure about his abilities to be a head coach. I guess it remains to be seen. ah Dude, I don't yeah have any idea what this team is doing, though. I mean, you go from the quarterback that they had last year in Aaron Rodgers and then the year before all that shit that they had floating around to Justin Fields, which...
00:30:15
Speaker
ah You already know my thoughts on Justin Fields, dude. I just i still say Justin Fields is one of the best 15 or 20 players in the NFL. All right, let's relax, bro. Dude, he's an incredible runner. who's Who are you more scared of out in the open field, man, than Justin Fields when he takes off? I mean, Lamar Jackson by far, but either way. I don't know, dude. I feel like Justin Fields is even faster than Lamar Jackson. Justin Fields couldn't lace up Lamar Jackson's jockstrap. We're not going into this right now.
00:30:42
Speaker
now I'm not talking about quarterback. i'm talking about just pure football player. Either way, I did. Top 20 in the NFL is definitely a reach, but I like Justin Fields as a football player, but I don't like him as a full-time starting quarterback. I like him as like kind of a gadget guy, man. like find Find a package of plays for him. Dude, I'm with you.
00:30:59
Speaker
i think If you're Aaron Glenn, right I like Aaron Glenn also. I remember him back, really hard-nosed DB back in the day, good football player. There's only 32 of these jobs in the world, so you kind of got to take it, man, when one comes up. da you almost ya it' It would take a lot for me if i was in if I was a professional coach to turn down an NFL team wanting bring me in, but this definitely seems like it can't win, dude. With the roster he's taken over and with just the infrastructure or lack thereof with with the Jets, I don't see a pass. I don't see this team. If you ask me right now, dude, are the Jets going to have a winning season before 2030?
00:31:35
Speaker
I don't think I'd say yes, man. I really don't see any reason to say yes. This team has just been so bad for so long. i mean, when's the last time the Jets were even in the mix to be competitive, man? has has Have they had a decent season since 2010?
00:31:49
Speaker
I would think the last one was when Ryan was still the head coach. but Yeah, that's what I'm saying, man. That 2009, 2010, they had those two those first two years of Mark Sanchez. They went back to that conference championships. seemed like the sky was the limit. And then it's been dog shit ever since, man.
00:32:06
Speaker
I really don't. Dude, I just don't understand what this team is doing. Like, yeah. They just signed Garrett Wilson to a long-term deal. They signed Sauce last year to a long-term deal.
00:32:18
Speaker
which Those are two good players, but it's football. You've got to have more than that. What are you building with them, though? Like... I like Sauce a lot. I like Garrett Wilson a lot. But what exactly are you building with them on that team? like to me, you're better off dumping them to get more draft picks.
00:32:37
Speaker
So their last winning season was 2015. They went 10-6. Yeah, I'm looking at it right now, man. ten Yeah, 2015, 10-6. I'm pretty sure they missed the playoffs that year missing the playoffs.
00:32:50
Speaker
Just missed it. That's the last... 11-5 in was the last time they made the playoffs. yeah that they're bad to go to fur illustrated dude not only was that Their last decent season, that's in the last 14 years, they've had one season above 500, and it was that 2015 season, man. Just horrible. They've gone they've been under 500 the last nine years. Think about that. The NFL, there's so much parity in this league.
00:33:19
Speaker
Almost every other team, like, dude, the difference between winning and losing week week is so thin. The difference between the best team and the worst team really isn't that much, man. It's ah it's ah you know a handful of plays a game. A couple roster spots, dude, is what separates most of these teams.
00:33:33
Speaker
These guys have not had a winning season in nine years. Like Jordan said, man, it just illustrates how poorly run they've been. They're they're a disaster of a franchise. And I think bottom out this year, man, I, you know, I think this year is going to be darker than most, man. I think these guys are 100 percent going to be in the mix for the first pick in the draft next year.
00:33:52
Speaker
Which would be the best case scenario for them at this point. They need to have the number one pick so they can do something. I just, again. Dude, if you're Arch Manning, dude, bro. He's not coming out. Not only am I not going pro, bro, I would go.
00:34:04
Speaker
I'll go work the fucking drive-thru window at Chick-fil-A for a year before I come to the NFL. If you're telling me the Jets are who's going to take me. There's not a single snowball's chance in hell Arch Manning will put on that green Jets uniform, man. Right.
00:34:18
Speaker
I'm not convinced he'd put on either one of the top two teams but or sorry, bottom two teams jerseys. I know his grandpa played for the saints. That don't mean shit. That team is terrible. Like that franchise is in deep disarray. Like I don't even know what they're doing at this point.
00:34:35
Speaker
I don't think he comes out either way. Cause I think one of those two teams ends up at number one. And I don't think he's playing for either one of them. Yeah. With the rookie weight scale, too, and with the way NIL is, he's probably making more money as a senior at Texas than he is as a rookie in the NFL, man. That's that's obvious. didn't sound like Especially if they go out and win the freaking national championship this year, bro. like How much money is he getting, man, that last year? Didn't he get $150 million dollars before he even took a snap with NIL? So, yeah, he's definitely making more money in college than he is the NFL.
00:35:06
Speaker
Bro, if you're Arch Manning, do you just like change the game? If you win the national championship this year with Texas, maybe get a Heisman dude, like just go out, hit the transfer portal and say, hey, Ohio's better, bro. Freaking who who's who who wants me for my senior year, man?
00:35:20
Speaker
Yeah. yeah I don't know. it's It's absolutely crazy. So it says that he's currently has the highest valuation of 6.6 million. But dude, I read something wild that he got way more than that. Yeah. That's like straight up what he's getting from Texas, dude. He's getting all kinds of sponsorships and stuff, man. Like, yeah, dude, like dude, just, see it's going to be crazy when he comes out, man. I can't wait to see what, what that circus is like. Cause it's just, you feel like he's can't miss, man. He it feels like going to be the biggest prospect since probably like Andrew Luck, man.
00:35:52
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. Okay, outlook for 2025 on the Jets. I think they win two games. i mean Let me look at the – what – do you think – who's the backup, man? Who do they got besides Justin and ah justin Fields, dude, if he flames out or gets hurt?
00:36:09
Speaker
I mean, dude, I don't need to even go any further. If Justin Fields is the guy you're trotting out there a week one. So their backup is Tyrod Taylor and Adrian Martinez. Okay. Tyrod Taylor is good. tyre Tyrod Taylor is the kind of guy that, say, Justin Fields goes down last month. Tyrod Taylor is the QB and just like the professional is just good enough to fuck you out of getting the first pick of the draft. You know what i mean? i i could tell I could totally see December Tyrod Taylor if they catch a couple other teams that aren't playing for anything.
00:36:37
Speaker
he's so He's so good. or not i good probably He's so solid, right? Tyrod Taylor is always solid when he goes out there, man. i think it's a shame. You know, that he never really got a full commit from a team to be their their guy.
00:36:49
Speaker
um But, yeah, Tyra Taylor i could totally go out and win you couple games, man. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up starting sooner or later if Justin Fields would be struggling. We don't do this often, but like um ah we're going to run through this list together. and you tell me what of these are wins.
00:37:03
Speaker
Pittsburgh week one. No. Buffalo week two. No. At Tampa. No. At Miami. No. Dallas at home. No. Possible. Possible, depending on what Dallas looks like. So we got one possible. That's a soft possible, though. Denver at home. Absolutely not.
00:37:20
Speaker
Carolina at home. Possible. Possible. also, though. At Cincinnati, absolutely not. No. Cleveland at home.
00:37:29
Speaker
New at New England. No, no. At Baltimore. No, no. Atlanta at home. Possible. Yeah, no, no. And that's you being hard on the Falcons. Falcons are are tearing that ass apart, dude. Miami at home.
00:37:41
Speaker
No. At Jacksonville. No. At New Orleans. That there's their office there's their first. I think they went. But honestly, bro, dude. Christmas might be coming early for those fan bases. I could see the Jets and Saints the week of Christmas being for sole position for the number one draft. They're going have a handshake offering like the mega power. It's going to be tied up They're going to be hot potato in the ball back and forth in fucking overtime trying to get the other team to run it in for a touchdown there. Can you even imagine like two one win teams the week of Christmas going at it? That's the fucking Grinch, bro. Everybody needs that. The Grinch is delivering that game to us that week, man.
00:38:23
Speaker
That needs to be played on like yeah not even Nickelodeon. I don't even know what you could put that on. We're calling that one the Grinch Bowl right now. That, depending on, you know, hey, maybe this team surprises. I hope I'm wrong and both these teams are scrappy as hell and that ends up being a fun game because I like i like having fun football games.
00:38:41
Speaker
But if I'm pinpointing it right now, that has strong possibility to be the worst game of the NFL season, man. Okay, and then they finish up with New England at home. No. And then they have Buffalo. So we have four maybes, dude.
00:38:54
Speaker
So let's – you know, if they split those, if they split those four maybes, that puts them at 2-15. Yeah, and that's for everybody. I'll say they go – I'm going 1-16. I don't think they go winless. I think they find a way to sneak one with Tyrod Taylor is starting QB, but I'm saying 1-16, the Jets for this year.
00:39:11
Speaker
Oh, my God. i just – dude, there's nothing to pin your hopes on, dude. Oh, I agree. This team's going to be bad. Like if there's, there's no question that they're going to be bad.
00:39:24
Speaker
I think they win two games. I'll say two games. All right. We'll see who ends up getting that one. Right, man. Let's go down
Dolphins' Challenges and Trade Rumors
00:39:31
Speaker
South, dude. Heading to Miami. This is a team in a weird spot, man. They had a really fun run, man. 22 and 23 were both really, really fun seasons for this team. Um, um,
00:39:41
Speaker
But it ended kind of weird both years, dude. Tua obviously has the concussion concerns. It seems like they kind of fizzled out. And last year, it really felt like um the NFL kind of caught up to Mike McDaniel's scheme, dude. You know, it seemed borderline revolutionary, that 2022 season, what these guys were doing, just putting up – excuse me, yeah, 2022 season. Yeah, where they were putting the crazy numbers. They dropped 70 freaking points against the – The Broncos one game, man. and just they were do It was a lot of really unique stuff. It felt like almost like college-style offense, but it was in the NFL.
00:40:12
Speaker
Tyreek Hill was going nuts. Jalen Waddell was going nuts. Tua was securing the freaking bag when he was getting his head rocked. Last year was ah a rough one, though, man. It still went 8-9, still pretty solid. Four and five in one score game, so you think maybe the Lucks will be ready to turn it around.
00:40:27
Speaker
But I don't know. It feels like the needle's kind of moving against them. The reason I say that, these guys were 22nd in offense. yeah This is a team where you think that the current – regime of the dolphins you think offense right high speed offense 22nd in offense 10th in defense was last year's success i'd say heck no man it it was a bad one and i think it it was i think it was a little bit worse than what the numbers would seem to indicate it feels like there's kind of some storm clouds on the horizon with the dolphins right now yeah i do not feel good about this team at all like dude the hell of a two is obviously first and foremost and
00:40:59
Speaker
I mean, like, how many more of these hits can he ah take before they're just like, hey, dude, you got to hang it up, man. This is not good for us. Like, so this is how someone dies on the field.
00:41:11
Speaker
i just, I don't know, man. This is not good. that This team. We've seen him have some of the scariest concussions we've seen in the NFL in recent memory. Dude, the worst part for them, though, is when he plays, they are a really good team. But the problem is, is when he can't stay on the field, like,
00:41:27
Speaker
You're holding your breath every time he takes off running, man. i I just don't know what to think of this team, man. We had the weird interview and right after the last game last year where sounded like Tyreek Hill was saying he was leaving, and then it came out like, oh, he's not leaving. So, I don't know.
00:41:42
Speaker
There's just some weirdness in the air there for sure, man. but It just feels like kind of bad vibes around this team. They brought in our our old favorite, Zach Wilson, to be the backup in case Tua goes down. We'll see how that goes.
00:41:54
Speaker
Dude, quiet pickup, Nick Westbrook-Akine, receiver from the dolphin or from the Titans. He's a good football player, man. I think he's going to be a really solid addition, man. you know Follow him away as a sleeper pick on fantasy, especially if Jalen Wall or Tyreek Hill miss any time, dude. he He can go in and play some football for you.
00:42:10
Speaker
Bro, that's a really good three receiver. Like, I mean, yeah I don't – I looked at – he got paid like $1.6 million. Like, the Titans wouldn't match that. don't know why the Titans bring him back. Like I said, man, he doesn't – you know, he's not blazing fast. He doesn't get any – you know, the measurables aren't jumping off the charts. But – Dude, it felt like dude was always there. If third and seven, it felt like he was going to get you freaking eight, nine yards and get a first down, man. Like he was just a really good football player. So yeah, I was, I was sad to see the Titans let him go.
00:42:39
Speaker
They did cash in. the The Steelers kind of forfeited their five-year lease on Minka Fitzpatrick, traded him back to the Dolphins in exchange for Jalen Ramsey and Johnny Smith. What a weird career path for Minka Fitzpatrick. Comes out, balls out for two years for the Dolphins, gets traded up to Pittsburgh, spends five years there, now coming back home.
00:42:58
Speaker
Yeah, this trade is so weird to me. like i when it When it looked like it was just Jalen Ramsey straight up for Minka Fitzpatrick, I was wondering what either one of these teams was doing at that point.
00:43:12
Speaker
yeah I mean, Johnnie Smith makes it a little bit better for the Steelers, but still don't think that trade's great for them either. Yeah, I don't know why they want to rid of Minka Fitzpatrick, man. It feels like he's still a really good football player. He's a top five safety in the NFL still.
00:43:27
Speaker
Yeah, Jalen Ramsey is obviously still a really good corner, but it feels like it doesn't seem like anybody has been sad when Jalen Ramsey is leaving the team at his last two stops. you know i mean Obviously, it didn't seem like the Rams were shedding any tears when he left out, and then same thing with the with the Dolphins, man. so i think he's He's kind of a weird cat also from everything we see out him. Yeah.
00:43:49
Speaker
Overall outlook for these guys, dude, I see them taking a step back, man. i don't think um They're not going to be down in basement with the Jets, but I see a continued slide, and I think Mike McDaniel would be in the hot seat, man. I could see this team, you know, as if Suman Tua stays healthy for 17 games, i think they're going to kind of stay about even, seven you know, seven, eight wins, something right around there, basically tread water.
00:44:09
Speaker
But if he gets hurt, I think going ugly, man. I could see this team falling down to something like 5-12 or something like that. Hot take for this team. I think they are not good, and I think Tyree gets traded by the trade deadline. Where would you like to see him go?
00:44:24
Speaker
I don't know, dude. I feel like that interview had something more to it at the end of the season last year, and I just feel like it's going to trickle over into the season now. I just... I don't know, man.
00:44:37
Speaker
God, what an... Dude, go back to the goddamn Chiefs at this point. Like, i just... Could you imagine, dude? like we We will never hear the end of it, dude, if he somehow gets traded back to the Chiefs for like a third-round draft pick, man.
00:44:50
Speaker
I mean, the Bills would be a perfect landing spot for him, but I doubt they're going to trade him within division, but that would be the perfect landing spot for him to me. i don't know. I don't think this team's good, though. I think they're going to win six or seven games max, and I think, yeah, Mike McDaniel's definitely on the chopping block.
00:45:11
Speaker
All right, let's go up top.
Bills' Playoff Ambitions and Super Bowl Hopes
00:45:13
Speaker
Buffalo Bills, man. Not a lot you can say about these guys. They're badass freaking football team. They're 13-4 after going 11-6 the year before. 5-3 in one-score games.
00:45:24
Speaker
These guys have number two offense. Number 11 defense. Just a juggernaut of a team, man. Josh Allen wins the MVP. You know, a little bit of controversial MVP pick.
00:45:35
Speaker
I think Lamar deserved it, but the Josh Allen still had just an absolute hell of a season. Was last year a success, though, man. You know, they got the Chiefs at home in the... ah and that we were at That was in Buffalo, right? No, it was in KC this time. It was in KC.
00:45:51
Speaker
Yeah, chiefs Chiefs are the number one seed, but it definitely felt like the Bills were the more powerful team coming in. It was the year before they lost. The year before they had got them in Buffalo and lost. This last year, dude, took them to the limit, man. I really felt like they played a better game. Just did not end up on top on the scoreboard. Had a fourth and short go sideways.
00:46:09
Speaker
i if du I was wanting to throw stuff at the TV screen because they just kept going for QB sneak and they were just, we're not getting any kind of ah push with the lineup front. It finally bit them at the end.
00:46:20
Speaker
Um, Yeah, and they just you know took the L against the Chiefs, man, in the AFC Championship. It feels like the last few years, dude, they've been a couple bounces away. Especially, you know, 2021, they lose an all-time classic to the Chiefs. 2022 had a weird finish the season. They kind of got smoked by the Bengals in the playoffs. In the last two years, yeah, it's been a couple bounces here or there, dude, against the Chiefs, knocking them out. But theyre three of the last four seasons, they've they've gotten dropped by the Chiefs in the playoffs. So it feels like they're right there. I don't even know what what you tell them, dude. You know what i mean? Because it's like...
00:46:51
Speaker
It's not like the offense hasn't been good enough. It's not like the defense hasn't been good enough. It's just been a break here, a break there. And it seems like on all those game-defining plays, it ends up going the Chiefs' way. um I don't know, man. what what What do you get to say about the 2024 Bills, Jordan?
00:47:07
Speaker
I mean, at this point, dude, for this team, it's Super Bowl or bust. Like, if they're not – I don't think anything other than a Super Bowl at this point is as a success. I get Josh Allen won the MVP, but, like, can you seriously be a Bills fan right now and be like, oh, man, I'm so happy with the way last year ended?
00:47:25
Speaker
They beat the Ravens, who I thought was the team to beat. After the Bills beat them, I'm like, okay, maybe this is actually the year they do it. Losing heartbreak again to the Chiefs. Like, I just – yeah They need someone to beat the Chiefs for them so they don't have to play them for the AFC Championship game. Like, i I don't know, man. It's just like the Chiefs just got their number no matter what they do.
00:47:49
Speaker
They built that team just to beat the Chiefs, did everything right, and still didn't beat the Chiefs. Like... Yeah. um but You can't say it's ah they're like they're not playoff performers because they take the Chiefs to the limits every single time.
00:48:01
Speaker
And they beat the Ravens, dude. At full power, the Ravens were the best team in football last year, right? Had a little bit of inconsistency. But when they were at their best, nobody was better than the Ravens last season.
00:48:12
Speaker
um and And they beat them in the playoffs, man. And so, yeah, it's not it's not like these guys are choking in the playoffs or giving out, you know laying eggs, man. Like they had a they played a hell of a game against the Chiefs.
00:48:23
Speaker
Just came up just a little bit short, man. um I don't know, dude. So, yeah. So, like I said, last year, again, I think we kind of nailed You know, it's kind of hard to say the season wasn't a success if you're one of the last four playing and you barely get knocked out.
00:48:37
Speaker
But also at the same time, at this point, dude, they've got so much blue balls from the last five years that, like, dude, it's Super Bowl bust, man. So... little bit of a wash. They do bring in Joey Bosa, which I don't know, man. Do you think Joey Bosa still got much left in the tank or just going to end up being kind of like when they brought in Vaughn Miller? No, this is definitely better than Vaughn Miller. It's just a matter of if Joey Bosa can stay on the field more than anything. But I definitely think at this point in his career, he's better than Vaughn Miller was when Vaughn Miller came over.
00:49:04
Speaker
Yeah, they also got Josh Palmer, receiver from the Chargers, who showed some flashes here and there, man. So I think that could end up being a decent pickup. You know, maybe change scenery, spark some production for him.
00:49:15
Speaker
Josh Salikonoff, MVP. Dude, I'll lift. for 2025 to me, it feels very similar to 2024, man. I think they're to right there with the Ravens. and The, the chiefs still going to in the mix. It feels like the chiefs are maybe taking a half step back, but and you know, they're going to be, they're still going to be there. Right. Like my homes to me is like, he's MJ dude. Like you gotta, you, you're going to have to deal with him in the playoffs. We'll wear another man. And we know that they're always going to rise to the occasion come, come January timeframe.
00:49:42
Speaker
I feel like they're right there, dude. I feel like between, you out of the the top cream of the crop there in the AFC, it's going come down to a couple of bounces of the ball here there that decides who's coming out of there to represent them in the Super Bowl.
00:49:53
Speaker
I agree. i Yeah, I think we're going to similar season as last year. Full agreement with you. I think they're right around that twelve thirteen win Yeah.
00:50:04
Speaker
come playoff time, we're going to do this all over again and see if they can actually get by the Chiefs this time. The Bills and Ravens, are just they're in very similar situations, man. They both had a ton of regular season success ah the la you know going back to the last five, six years.
00:50:20
Speaker
generational QBs, right? Like, though you know, Lamar Jackson, um Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, those really feel like the guys that are like kind of going to define this era as far as our top QBs.
00:50:31
Speaker
But Mahomes is only one that's gotten all the way to the top, man, so far. So, yeah, it's going to be – I still got to think on it, man. We're going make our final predictions here in and a couple weeks, man. I still got to think on it who I got coming out of AFC. I can't say for sure I'm picking the Bills, though, but I'm definitely giving them a long look.
00:50:48
Speaker
Yeah, I agree with you. And yeah, it's unreal that we are seeing these three quarterbacks playing at the peak of their careers at the exact same time. And yeah, they're all generational talents and, but yeah, only one of them's made it to the top. So it's to be interesting.
00:51:08
Speaker
If, uh, if freaking Joe Burrow, man, could, could get a decent defense, dude, he'd probably be right there in mix with them as well. I mean, He's the only one other than Holmes that's went to a Super Bowl. So he probably is right there.
00:51:21
Speaker
Joe Burrow and Tom Brady are the only two people that have beaten Patrick Mahomes in the AFC playoffs, man. Yeah. Kind of nuts. So for overall order, man, obviously Jets are in last, dude.
00:51:33
Speaker
i say I think the Patriots leapfrogged Dolphins. I'll go with the variable effect, and I hope I'm wrong, but I think Tua ends up missing some games. So I'm going Jets, Dolphins, Patriots, and then way up at the front is the Bills, dude. I think one thing they could potentially hurt the Bills, I could see them wrapping up this division in like December time frames. Hopefully they got somebody pushing them for – for home field advantage. That way they they still got a reason to play with a sense urgency. I don't think they're playing a meaningful game for division purposes after the first week of December.
00:51:59
Speaker
Yeah, i agree. And I agree with the exact order of finish in the division too. Let me see what their last five games are. So they got Bengals at Patriots at Cleveland, a Philly at home. That's... That could be a big game for both. Obviously, interconference, but i because both those teams could be playing for a home field advantage, man. I don't think – I think that that Philly, obviously, they're going to have Detroit and Washington putting a ton of pressure on them for that one seed in the NFC. And then, yeah, we expect Baltimore and KC to be right there on on Buffalo's ass in the AFC. Yeah. Bro, their first six games are – they got Baltimore at home week one. That's going to be a banger. That's Sunday night football.
00:52:43
Speaker
Then they got at Jets. That's a win. Miami at home, win. Saints at home, win. Patriots at home, win. And then they go before their bye week to Atlanta for Monday night football.
00:52:56
Speaker
they've got They've got a lot of winnable games in their first six weeks before they hit a bye. yeah they're going to be rolling, man. Yeah.
00:53:04
Speaker
All right, so that's a wrap for this episode of the goal line. Went a little bit long with some of our tangents, but we know that's what you guys ah tune in for, man. Jordan, hit us with some closing thoughts, and we'll get out of here. Yeah, just same as always. Enjoy your week. Thanks for listening, and we'll talk to you next week.
00:53:49
Speaker
Yeah, here you come knocking on my door, baby, tell me what you got on your mind. I guess those college boys all went home for the summertime.
00:54:22
Speaker
We'll be right back.
00:54:52
Speaker
We got the honey. Let's
