Introduction and Guest Welcome

00:00:08
Speaker
Hey everybody, welcome back. It is a fancy rugby game. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glauzer. And we have our special guest with us today. I'm back! What's up, James? How are you? How you doing, bud? I'm good, man. Everybody's weekend good? Yeah, you were in Miami. Yeah, I just returned from Miami, partying on the beach where the heat is on. It still applies. That city does not sleep, but I was very well behaved this time around. Why would you come back?
00:00:33
Speaker
Wait. My Spanish is limited, man. Good reason. Good reason. What'd you do? Anything? Not much. Any useful? No, nothing useful. I was a fucking lump this weekend. Yeah, that's alright. Alright, let's pour some beer. I'm gonna pour this one out to all my fallen homies in Miami. All the dead soldiers that you left behind.

Listener Engagement and Milestone

00:01:03
Speaker
yeah everybody make sure you check us out on itunes google play spotify subscribe download comment um maybe you didn't hear james we got our first comment last week oh yeah yeah what'd it say actually it was about it was after the six nation special that you were on so you have a magic touch of somehow uh note don't know why but you do uh and but they said good pod and um
00:01:25
Speaker
The quote I think we said was, you can definitely tell the rugby players and we weren't sure if that was a comment or if that was an insult. I'm not sure which one to make of it. They didn't call us a bunch of dickheads. That's kind of what we said. That's definitely what we were thinking was going to happen. It was either getting trolled or I don't know. It's nice to hear.
00:01:44
Speaker
Yeah positive reinforcement. Yeah five star review. So it can't be terrible, right? Um And we Speaking of that we also helped us get to 200 downloads in like, I don't know a quarter of the time It took us to get to 100 also for those four or five of those episodes were just me So who the hell wants to sit here and listen to my ass drawn on forever? So yeah
00:02:05
Speaker
We have hit 200 downloads and we hit it in a very quick amount of time. So thank you everybody for downloading and tell your friends to download. They don't have to listen. Just download the damn thing and get us up the charts.

Eagle Impact Rugby Academy Visit

00:02:18
Speaker
I did want to say thank you very much to the Eagle Impact Rugby Academy that came by this past weekend. I went down to our facility down at Union Point. A couple of freejacks stopped by. Our old friend Tony and Dolph Botha. Dolph the super nice guy.
00:02:34
Speaker
Couple of the kids were because he's South African and a couple of the kids were looking at me coach. What's he saying? Get together in a scrum and then you gotta smash each other, bro That's that's about what are you what he talked about? Yeah
00:02:57
Speaker
Just like just just pay attention. You'll pick it up eventually But yeah, so they they were kind enough to come down and show the kids what's going on, especially in the scrum So that was really cool. So thanks to those those guys. Thanks to era for putting that on Let's uh, let's talk from our ship and we'll go through the news as we come up on the teams and all that good stuff

Gloucester vs. Exeter Game Analysis

00:03:19
Speaker
There was some scintillating rugby in the premiere ship this round starting with the two Friday night games. Holy crap. Both games were awesome games. Gloucester 24, Exeter 17, Gloucester get one nearly at the death and then put a last minute stand at the goal line to push Exeter back and keep them from getting over the line. That would have been a fourth try for Exeter and a bonus point.
00:03:43
Speaker
They have a they have a knack of doing that and just finding ways to get points on the board, even when they lose. And it's just remarkable how they're able to do that. That's why they're still equal on points with Saracens. The only reason we're ahead is we have more wins. Right. They're resilient. They're not going to give up. They're still going to be going for this. No, they're going to fight till the till the death and.
00:04:02
Speaker
Some teams would kind of I don't think they would fight nearly as hard as they seem to do for the last five to know it was uh It's it's the exit away. Yeah, it's and credit to rob baxter What do you think james rob baxter would be a good next coach of england after eddie jones steps aside? Oh, man That's that's even you know, it'll be there'll be a lot of people that are gonna put their hands up for for that england role It's it'll be you know big boots to fill even though he's a small man
00:04:31
Speaker
But you could see maybe John Mitchell yeah, I don't want to speculate anything Because he's had a you know head coach Roll before but definitely Rob Baxter. I think you know nobody but nobody we know by chance with it But you know whether the RFU decides to go With an Englishman will be interesting to see yeah
00:04:54
Speaker
It could mirror the way in which the England national soccer team has, you know, the route they chose to go down with with Garrett Southgate.

Exeter's Challenges with Missing Players

00:05:03
Speaker
Yep. We won't get into that. No, he's great. He's great. I love him. Yeah, but we're talking rugby. We are. Well, obviously, Exeter, we're missing quite the contingent of their players. No, no, no, Slade. No, no, Armin and no Cowan Dickey. I think Carmen's hurt, though, that that being the difference between him and the other ones. But
00:05:23
Speaker
They still put up a pretty good show. Yandell, you and I were talking about Yandell and Cowan Dickey. I mean, it's almost no drop off between the two of them, so credit to Yandell. Exactly. He stepped up and... Club captain for a reason, obviously. Wow. Ollie Thorley's assist on Woodward's try. I'll have to kick from Sips. Woo! This kid is scintillating, as I said.
00:05:48
Speaker
He was, he was involved in the, that last try too, though at the end, he, he set it up with, he had a couple of, of really great line breaks that caused trouble for Exeter, especially late. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, he's been named more into more Eddie, Eddie Jones's preliminary squads in Cipriani, which is unfortunate, but, um, I think, yeah, I think, I think it's deserved for Thorley at the very least

Danny Cipriani's Performance Discussion

00:06:15
Speaker
though. I know he's the young prodigy that he wants to groom.
00:06:18
Speaker
But how can we not talk about Sips too? That was some good Sips. Yeah, I mean Sips didn't say it on the score sheet, but he definitely said it on the field. He looked a lot better. He's a playmaker and that's the thing. It's day in and day out. You'll get the same from him. He'll make plays, put people in space. And it's again, I think it's deja vu for me. It's just, I'm saying again, he deserves another look.
00:06:42
Speaker
Yeah, no doubt. You'll be hard pressed to find a lot of people that argue with you about that one. And then Morgan goes over at the end for the eventual winner. The no blocking call, I think it was on Mostert maybe or something like that, held his line, in my opinion. Didn't really change it. Oh, it was Honeck. That's who it was. That's who it was. It was Honeck, I think.
00:07:08
Speaker
Yeah, I mean didn't didn't really move left right much he was he continued on the walking Prop line that he was on just because he didn't let somebody move him doesn't mean he blocked him It's like all right. Well, you can see the prop standing there go around him
00:07:25
Speaker
We saw that in a different match later with and we had that for to knob Healy. Good Lord. So yeah,

Role of Props in Rugby Strategy

00:07:33
Speaker
that's as a prop. There's there's been a kicking situation or that open field. There's, you know, very little you can do to help affect the play. Right. So if all you can do is just stand in one place and affect the defense and kind of create a hole by not doing anything, that's that's going to be a win-win for them.
00:07:51
Speaker
Absolutely.

Fantasy Rugby Scores Review

00:07:52
Speaker
We'll go through the scores real quick. Supriyani, we try and do those that have forgotten. We try and do those that are over 300 pounds in the game and also those that have scored 25 plus or more. Supriyani with 14, Woodward with 22 in his first match for a while, so that was good for him. Ben Morgan.
00:08:10
Speaker
Their leader Not necessarily vocally but certainly by his play 31 Willie Heinz your guy. Yes, you start him. Yes. I did a nice 47 Yeah, you had a hell of a week. Actually. I like to go ahead fifth overall. Choo Choo man. Yeah. Yeah, although that's all thanks to really mostly to one guy But yeah, but I helped out we're getting there overall in like the world Yeah in that man in that competition In the world in the world
00:08:39
Speaker
Ollie thoroughly with 38 also in your squad. Um, precco mustard with 34 tom savage 25 freddy clark with 25 You had a bit of a dilemma. Um, actually between two players in this match was Slater or kavecik And we wrote that later wasn't playing so so that was going to be more of a long-term ad but I ended up picking up kavecik and He got me
00:09:02
Speaker
Um, yeah, no, he did, he did well for you. Uh, but you also had five Gloucester men already on your squad. I did. So it was kind of limited. It's like, oh wait, nevermind. That just made a decision for me. Yeah. Although it would have been nice if Sharples had played. Yeah, probably. Um, I stayed at all the guys that didn't play for Exeter already and that's okay. Um,
00:09:22
Speaker
Cordero was six. Nick White with 35. Good day for him. MacKavecic 36. Joe Simmons 35. Interesting that he's been kind of had a run of games for Exeter. So I wonder if they towards the end of last year, they started leaning towards him. So it was interesting. Debuters with 29. Yandel with 29. And Lonsdale with 29. So good scores for both teams, obviously. Just Gloucester came out the right side. Yeah.

Bristol's Strategic Moves

00:09:51
Speaker
All right, let's go to Bristol. Bristol and Wasp, that was another entertaining Friday night game. My goodness. Especially fantasy wise. Yeah, well. Yeah, we'll get into that. Bristol continue to find ways to get points and that's huge for them because obviously they don't want to get dragged into that fight of relegation that Worcester and Newcastle have found themselves in, although. There's too much money behind Bristol for that to happen.
00:10:19
Speaker
you know seems it i think um when you you've got players like that you're you did the whole point was to just you know all a lot of those stars came well at least steven lewitt who did played that um well what is it called the the division one the championship they played the championship rugby the year before yep when they were all in knowing that they're going to get
00:10:39
Speaker
Out of the championship and into the premiership and that's I think why all these players are playing for them because there's one There's money behind it and two they're gonna put together one hell of a team in a year or two's time Yeah, really compete for the top spots. I like pat lamb too. So oh pat lamb is a hell of what a hell of a coach Yeah, I remember watching a video of him You know coaching the barbarians and coming up with just
00:11:00
Speaker
Ridiculous plays with he would do that. Yeah Obviously that's an incredible club to play for but yeah playing for a guy like that. I mean, I think you'd put everything out there Yeah, and Jack ain't too bad either. So I like I like the way he plays. Yeah, exactly So but Bristol didn't come out on the right side of this but they found a way to get the try bonus, which was good. I
00:11:22
Speaker
Harry Randall looks really good, I have to say. I really, really like the way he's looking. Obviously, Ben Young's and Danny Care and Robson. It's a long line to get into an England shirt. So if he's got another way to go play internationally, you might want to consider that because he deserves a shirt on an international pitch. How old is he? He's like 21, 20, something like that. He's a kid. He's a real kid. To be young. Wouldn't know anything about that.
00:11:51
Speaker
But yeah, so and was obviously, you know, they they they did employ Robson and Tom Young, Thomas Young in this game and to their benefit for sure. Yeah. Young put one down. Yes. Yep, he did. And Robson looked really good. It's too bad what happened to him. Billy Searle was actually looking very, very good in this game. And unfortunately, the real unfortunate thing to see his ankle get rolled up on the way it did. And I missed that. I missed his injury.
00:12:20
Speaker
Yeah, it was a long delay. Yeah, there's a long delay. I'm glad I missed it. So it was, he just got caught under a big dude and you know, it'll happen. So, um, too bad. So, so Walker's going to get a extended run, an extended run here and probably for the rest of the season, I guess I haven't seen any news on it, dude.
00:12:40
Speaker
Um, I tell you tell you what the wasps though, you know, there's been all this talk about Exodus of good players. Elliot Daly's gone. Um James Haskell went last year. Who else is maybe leaving? I can't I can't use is it on his way to Bristol? That's right. Nathan Hughes is going but in in in replacing some of those names malachite Yeah, that guy's still good enough to play for the all blacks. Yeah. Yeah, no doubt young still uh, they signed uh
00:13:08
Speaker
an Italian winger, Matteo, Minozzi. Minozzi, yeah. Minozzi, yeah. And so, I mean, it looks like they're, you know, there's always a. Sounds like they have a plan. Yeah, I should

Toulon's Owner Criticism

00:13:20
Speaker
hope so. That's a, it's a classic club. Was it then assigned to among L and two?
00:13:26
Speaker
I think so. I'm not sure but um I think so. You know and and not to get a little sidetracked but you know with that signing of Fekito and and that news out of uh too long about Julian Sevilla. Oh, what a. That was crazy. I know we're kinda getting sidetracked here but can we talk about that for a second? Oh, it was definitely on the on the docket to talk about so we can talk about it right now. Yeah, that's
00:13:47
Speaker
French is French is French. I mean, what the hell, man? But like, it's just that's that Toulon owner, whatever is it, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, Boudreaux, B
00:14:13
Speaker
Even Chabal came out and said something. He was like, he's terrible. Like the problem with too long is that he said like the problem too long as their president and somebody else and brought, yeah, came in and said, yeah, when, when, um, I can't remember who it was, but saw the article about somebody saying when they, um, he came into a, uh, the locker room before a match and, and basically decided whether or not they were going to be in the.
00:14:35
Speaker
um in it that uh 14 And he was like you guys have to win or i'm cutting all of you like canceling all of your contracts. Yeah, okay Because that wouldn't end poorly in any way she performed right? Like what the fuck are you doing and that city just lives and dies by its rugby team I believe it first, you know, the the players are are Before they enter the stadium the bus sort of leaves them on the street. I suppose I don't really know how it works, but
00:15:03
Speaker
All the fans are there surrounding them as they will proceed through into the stadium and it's a very sort of personal experience i've heard from a lot of the players because you know they're not used to that they're used to kind of being you know left their their own devices but a lot of these french players will come up give them a hug or because on the that's beautiful and um
00:15:22
Speaker
your shake their hands and say good luck and get a picture so I think and especially for foreign guys coming in there that's a whole new thing so it's a shame you know for a club like that in a town like that or city I should say to have a guy who's just you know a total monster yeah you know you hope it it sorts out he seems to always go hot and cold on guys
00:15:41
Speaker
Yeah, but you can't that's not a good long term. I mean who's going to sign there now? I mean people still will money money money, but you're not going to sign players who really want to win not do anything because the owner is just going to be an asshole so clearly um
00:15:59
Speaker
Back on a back on topic.

Fantasy Rugby Team Dilemmas

00:16:01
Speaker
We actually covered all the points. I want to know don't know apologize. I don't apologize. I wanted to talk about that We'll run through the points here real quick. Charlie Pieta was 17 for Bristol. John a foe is 17. Those are the two expensive guys Chris Vuey was 61. What the hell? Yeah. Oh, we can go through the team that we could do it after this Dan Thomas with 38 Harry Thacker with 34 another solid performance than Harry Thacker and
00:16:22
Speaker
34 from Harry Randall. Again, you guys got it. Daniels with 32 and Piers O'Connor with 26. Not too bad. Another for the was the most expensive paperweight in the league, probably Willie LaRue with five.
00:16:37
Speaker
Yeah, that's not good. The contingency for From England daily soap, not soap walker, soap walker did play but he didn't do anything so it wasn't worth it. Nathan Hughes, Launchbury and Shields all did not play. Will Rowlands with 73.
00:16:56
Speaker
Ben capping captain. Yeah, I think it might have been the only person I think I Wouldn't be surprised. It's just like a random person the captain like good weeks. He's had he did he did he's like we talked about like guys that are cheap and guys that are also performing at a high end and he's Top of the list for sure in terms of that. Well, he like what'd you get? Do you remember what do you got him at at least? Take
00:17:23
Speaker
I can I can check what what he was he is right now? 197 that's all he is right and he scores almost 30 a week. Yeah, I picked him that's ridiculous. I picked him up at 163 Yeah, I probably picked him up around the same price just
00:17:40
Speaker
He went, I mean, the majority of the points came on a, ooh, hey, look at this, what I found, and he went for a nice big stroll. Love watching a, well, as they say, the galloping giraffe, the locks are, when they go for a run. And he just slid under the post. He was happy to, I'm sure he was happy to do it. Every owner was just like, yes, I did hear that. So yeah, Wasp went 29, 22.

Wasps and Northampton Saints Performance

00:18:07
Speaker
They're in fourth now, aren't they? Are they in fourth or are the twins in fourth?
00:18:11
Speaker
I have it. They are now they're in fifth.
00:18:15
Speaker
Okay. So they got, they got bumped after they went up into this Gloucester. Yeah, fair enough. Yeah. Yeah. Um, let's get to this one. Saints and sharks. Ooh. And I just saw that score and that's crazy because the sharks have been having a pretty good season and they've got some, some talent on that team and this has been sort of the somewhat polar opposite.
00:18:41
Speaker
Northampton was knocking on their door at the end too. They could have gone for over 70. I think they determined the final pass to Collins was forward. You wanted a hat trick too. I'm sure he was a little irked about that. No, mine.
00:18:58
Speaker
They were they were out for fucking blood. Yeah, and they pulled and they pulled so here was the here's the kicker They pulled damn bigger like 20 minutes in because he kind of had a knock to the knee And yeah, Chris Boyd did Warren Gatlin a favor and said I'm gonna pull him right now because if he gets hurt I'm gonna never hear Yeah bad very bad But she's just losing by 50 and
00:19:25
Speaker
My God. Steve Diamond. Steve Diamond's special. Yeah, I guess so. Holy crap. Yeah, right. I mean, Tom Collins obviously had himself a hell of a day. Pierce Francis played 10 when bigger went off.
00:19:38
Speaker
and it seemed like everything kicked up an extra notch when he took over. I was like, wow, this guy's actually really good. They were doing a lot of good stuff even before then though. I mean, obviously, but their creativity and attack, again, throwing multiple attack patterns at sale really fucked up their defensive structure. I saw a loop.
00:20:01
Speaker
Yeah, hooray! Shit, I saw a fucking loop. Hooray! I hadn't seen that since like the second week of Champions Cup. So like just little things like that. A lot of some loops, some outside, like they get the ball wide maybe to the 13 and then have an inside runner off of the 13. Like holy shit, change the direction of the ball. Don't just have it go out away from the breakdown. They actually change it up and fuck with the defense like that. I mean the score line is obviously a result of that. Right.
00:20:31
Speaker
Yeah Stop me if you've heard this name before Kobus Reinach that dude sounds familiar Yeah, well in a battle of two guys that have worn South Africa shirts He looked like the better one
00:20:45
Speaker
He was amazing. He's been, he's picked it up. Like I saw in like week two or three of me doing this, I poop hooed on him. Yeah. And then it's like something went across the pond and into his ear and he's just woken up because he's been awesome since then. And I'm just like, maybe I don't know what it is if I put it out there in the universe or whatever it was, man. That was crazy. So, yeah, we'll see. That's without Courtney, too.
00:21:13
Speaker
Yeah, that was crazy. And then there's one more name I wanted to just kind of throw out there. How is right now? He's been playing really well consistently in the membership. Yeah, absolutely. And he only has looking at this. He only has one cap for South Africa, which is unfortunate because he probably could wear a South Africa shirt. He completely outdueled the the current South African. Yes. FAFTA clerk. Yeah. Yeah. Who I'm trying to think he kind of looks like
00:21:42
Speaker
if an Oompa Loompa, like, had to integrate into society properly. And so he bleached his skin and hair. I feel like he's a combination of Jamie and Tyrion Lannister. Yes. That is so right. That's a good, that's a good. Right in the middle, right in the middle. Got it. If you're listening, I'm so sorry. You know, I think you're the second person on this pod to have now I have apologized to FAFTA clerk. Yeah.
00:22:10
Speaker
They had to read it too, but it's okay. For similar reasons. Yeah, no kidding. So I'll put the, let's put this one, I'll play it with this one and then we'll put this match to bed. So we kind of poo-pooed on Steve Diamond and I still will continue to poo-poo on Steve Diamond. But so the reporter that he's kind of gotten into it with a little bit, he's also kind of an ass too, so. No.
00:22:36
Speaker
But there's reporters that are paying your ass and there's reporters that are asses in general. I think he's the latter. Just looking through some of the stuff. I'm like, okay, now I can see why Steve Diamond wanted to kick you in the nuts. But you know what? Reporters do that all the time, so Steve Diamond just needs to be a little bit better about it. It sounds like these two deserve each other. Maybe, maybe.
00:22:57
Speaker
So yeah, Saint 67, sale 17.

Bath vs. Newcastle Highlights

00:23:00
Speaker
Let's run through the scores real quick and then we'll move on to the next game. Haskell and Laws did not play. Haskell still injured. Laws obviously away with England duty. Bigger only had eight because he was very briefly on. Nairavoro with 37, no longer being the complete paperweight that he has. I needed him this week too. Yeah, you did. Heinrich Verso with 10, he's kind of become an expensive paperweight on your roster if you have him.
00:23:23
Speaker
Cobus Ryonak with 52, Tom Wood with 46, another name that England fans probably want to perk up in here once in a while, George Herbank with 45, Alex Mooden with 43, Tom Collins with 39 off the bench, Aussie Tawala with 34, thank you Aussie, Pierce Francis with 32, and Lewis Ludlum with 27. I had Lewis Ludlum in my lab as well. Another seven for England that they could probably consider one day. He makes too many mistakes.
00:23:52
Speaker
in my opinion, to be considered for international duty, but the level of intensity and effort that he gives is unmistakable and just, you know, it's really hard to beat. So I'm glad to see him performing well. That's somebody that people can keep an eye out for maybe the next World Cup cycle there.
00:24:10
Speaker
For sale, there's only a few names. James O'Connor with 11, five to clerk with seven. Ashton didn't play because of England duty and he's also injured. John Ross with 34, Josh Beaumont with 26, and A.J. McGinty with 25, our friend. Nice to see A.J. back. Yeah, glad to see him back in the sale shirt. He'd been in the way for a little too long. Ross was also in my lineup too.
00:24:29
Speaker
Yeah, it's nice to see James O'Connor finding his sort of second lease on life. Yeah At sale looks like he's completely turned things around from his you know, this is a kid who I think Was playing super rugby at 17 years old. Yeah It was one of the youngest to be called up to the wall bees and just you know He was like the future of Australian rugby. No pressure there exactly. Yeah, right just you know, it seems like a lot of the Australian players tend to
00:24:57
Speaker
Turned to a bit of a mess. Yeah, like a party. Listen, I like to party too. I do too. But if I was playing professional rugby. If I'm putting on that yellow jumper, I'm probably going to control myself just a touch. Looks like he's definitely enjoying himself in dreary Manchester. Salford, I should say. Yeah, close.
00:25:17
Speaker
Bath, Newcastle, not a super exciting Mac, but some things to note. Joe Cockenasinghe looks pretty damn good. That dude was running, diving for the try to stay in bounds, looked pretty good. Guy ain't too bad. Jonathan Joseph returned for them. That's good for England fans. They're very, very, very happy, a bunch of people for that one. He hasn't played yet in the Premiership for them this year, so.
00:25:44
Speaker
uh new castle in it for a bit and then they fade that's just it seems to be serious they just can't keep it together no no which is it this is the the the wrong season to be yeah because like Worcester have gotten somehow gotten things figured out Bristol came in with you know with their hair on fire so
00:26:05
Speaker
This was not a year of flounder especially up the last year when they made the semi-final. Yeah I mean Bristol's pulling away from them. Yeah. No, yeah, I mean, yeah, they keep getting they keep getting points That's the important part get points, you know, and I don't think Newcastle have gotten that figured out No London Irish is you know, they're pretty much what guaranteed. They are darn close to their signing players like they are. Yeah. Yes, that's true. That is true And I think you know, there's always been this argument that
00:26:33
Speaker
with the championship that, you know, teams like the Ealing Trail Finders who are always kind of consistently up there, maybe like the Cornish Pirates, excuse me, they don't have the money or the facilities to take care of not only
00:26:51
Speaker
Take care of a premiership team and all the demands that comes with but also their stadiums. Yeah, you know what? Aren't they aren't big enough? Well, look at london welsh a few years ago. They were not prepared They lost every game by like they had one point in the standings that year
00:27:09
Speaker
That they signed like one guy that I remember period when he was fat And I mean he was a roly-poly Scrum half that dude built did not belong on a rugby field the way he was so yeah Yeah, no that was just so bad. It was yeah, so it's um It's you're gonna see the same thing every year though. That's and I don't know what what the answer Yeah, it's gonna be the same two three teams
00:27:32
Speaker
So this is influx of money supposedly. So we'll see what happens if somebody can maybe build a nice, you know, a nice stadium or at least renovate the stadium for a year and you have to eat whatever you have to eat financially in order to make sure the stadium looks nice. And then maybe you go up, but yeah, or you make a deal with another stadium organization to play your club games there.
00:27:55
Speaker
The thing is that's been happening for so many years with these rugby teams and you just I don't think you get that you don't get the fan base and The camaraderie and sort of the support that you would get if you had your own stadium I understand honestly, you know, I went and saw Saracen's a long time ago play at Vicarage Road up in Watford Yep, and it's stadium wasn't even close to half filled. Yeah, you know and it's you hate to see that now I think what they're obviously I
00:28:20
Speaker
They're constantly winning and they have their own their own their own pitch. Yeah that you're gonna fill that place up No problem. Yeah, they do that. They do that quite often Went through the scores real quick anything dad been no,

Harlequins Triumph and Player Highlights

00:28:34
Speaker
no, okay. We're going through the scores real quick and we'll move on to the next one Valetau again again don't if you have Toby Valetau get the hell rid of him He's a 400 300 pound paperweight get him out of there. Oh
00:28:45
Speaker
Francois low with 32 doing well for himself. Rook and Dewgooty was 16. He came off injured unfortunately after scoring an easy walk and try but then had a nice busting run which eventually read one of Coco's tries. Jimmy Roberts with 15. I love Jimmy Roberts. Jonathan Joseph with 19. Freddie Burns only played a hot minute so he only had nine. Luke Charters with 37. Kalk and the singer 36. Dave Atwood on his way to Bristol next year at 34.
00:29:13
Speaker
Tom Homer with 34 Tom done with 31 after the centurion, I believe Got got recognized for 100 yet 100 games for her bath, which was great and will chudley with 29 He's been playing like his hair's on fire. That's for sure Certainly been motivating bath to play a bit better and get over the line Newcastle with the Newcastle
00:29:36
Speaker
13 points only. So not a lot to be said. Gunova didn't play. Nagusa with 37. Kyle Cooper with 36. David Simba with 30. Everybody else has a huge drop off. It's pretty sad. That is pretty sad. Well, you know, it's great to see those guys with the scores like that. But then, you know. Well, when you only have 13, you know, you only put 13 points up on board. Nagusa got their own only try. Right. So those are the three guys who seemingly did anything. I would guess not having watched this match.
00:30:03
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Yeah, it wasn't it wasn't anything special. So yeah bath went 30 to 13 bonus point try the whole shebang
00:30:10
Speaker
here's one for you there james the quinn's taking it home uh... shooting right down score another one another one seven thirty three wasn't forty seven thirty three seven thirty three and one order yeah it was uh... it was there's a lot going on with this one uh... danny care looking like he uh... is trying to get the old one-finger salute to eddie jones much man he's he's still deserve i know i understand you want to give some like dinner i was in a run-out and and stuff uh... especially with
00:30:38
Speaker
World Cup right around the corner. You got to have options because I think they can bring three scrum halves I know they should they did in the last World Cup. I know Royals worth was there as well. Yeah hobbling on his cane So no surprise you'll I think you'll be included in that squad. Yeah, I would think the betting man would still put I've also booked my flights and
00:31:08
Speaker
hotel in Tokyo. So I'm off. So I'll let you guys know what it's like being a geisha girl. Pretty good. And etiquette classes all wind up. There you go. Oh, man. Yeah. So Quinn's took care of business pretty well at the stoop. Like I said, they were they were a motivated bunch down there. Marchant scored that early try after a
00:31:37
Speaker
poor and really unfortunate bounce for WhoGuard. He's like, no, get back here. And Marchant was jotty on the spot, pounced on it. Mike Brown with a cheeky try down the side, basically took the ball away from Danny here and ran down the sideline. He's like, nope, I got an idea this way and it worked. Again, full head of hair, Mike.
00:31:58
Speaker
Yes, full head of hair. It's uh, it's pretty it's pretty um It's you have to shake yourself for a second. They'll be like wait. That's that is Mike Brown. Okay. It's an interesting interesting life choice You go like right down to the skin for a while and then you throw everybody off saying nope I still have hair and I can grow it He's making bald deniers out there very jealous
00:32:30
Speaker
Yeah, definitely Yeah, so Mike Brown looked good like I said, it was good to see James Holwell back out there for them
00:32:39
Speaker
James Orwell and Chris Robshaw rockin rockin that for the Quinn's that was that's a formidable pack right there Yeah, those guys are experienced pair the two of them I was less than surprised once I saw that team named the twins were able to win
00:32:54
Speaker
What seemed like fairly easily Worcester did get a try late to make it close, but then they uh, then they threw a pass forward, which uh, let that down. Yeah. And then the Brown ship to Jack Clifford on the wing. There's another, there's another flanker that England should needs to keep in their locker and consider it a bunch of guys who are just under that international quality. And if they can develop them and, and, and bring them up to that, they perform a week in and week out though. Right. I mean, that's.
00:33:20
Speaker
Clifford hasn't been healthy, to be fair. So that's kind of that's kind of one of those things you need to be is healthy. Best ability is available. Is availability, absolutely. And of course, the dominator is still Dom Brant, although he was not nearly as present out there with some of his more experienced teammates back and back in the fold. So I wonder, I wonder how that's going to play out now. He kind of takes a step back as far, you know, because it's hard, you know, well, I mean, it's going to tell Rob Shaw, I get to give me this carry.
00:33:49
Speaker
Yeah, you're not telling him no. Right. Okay, go boss go. Yeah. We thought we thought Calum Black got 100. Oh, yeah. For about a day. It was Calum Black with 100. Everybody was looking at each other like no way I have to watch this because I hadn't watched the match yet. I was just like there's no unless he went for a romp in which in which case whatever.
00:34:11
Speaker
And no somebody said in the broadcast that he's american eligible Hello, I was like, oh that's interesting. I wonder if gary gold will pick up the phone and call him Is he aware? I don't know if he's aware. That's the other thing. Yeah I think he's um, I think he's irish born. So good luck getting into that front row. Yeah, exactly We'll run through this question real quick joe marler with 22 the mohican joe marler they even called him that on the broadcast the mohican
00:34:39
Speaker
Like I said that hairstyle for is never Right same Danny care with 40 a big 40 for the guy Like I said one finger salute Teddy Jones and make sure you pick them next time Eddie Chris Robshaw finally plays again with 33 horrible was 17, you know good to see him out there obviously a great number on that but you know the gains more than that and
00:35:01
Speaker
Tap white with 34, Clifford with 34, Ibitoya with 29, he came off injured though, that was unfortunate, and Will Collier with 27, not too bad.
00:35:10
Speaker
And dumbo only got 19 or i'm sorry 18. Yeah. Yeah He's had better games. He'll have another one. I hope so. I'm not i'm I don't think this I think this is an outlier I don't think this is the norm even with these guys back. Yeah, uh wister Huggard with 34 tao didn't play he was he's still on the list for england sam lewis with 36 jack singleton with 34 Good for him.

Potential Future England Players

00:35:31
Speaker
I think he's uh, I think he sent me to watch for england soon
00:35:34
Speaker
Josh Adams comes back from Wales duty gets 31 Bryce Heem 28 Heem another one. Like we said, not a bad, not a bad option. And the good thing with Heem, I started him at center this week because he's, he's center eligible. Oh, he's eligible. He's got the versatility on the rugby magazine to, uh, yeah, that's a good, that's a good pick to move around. Yeah. I mean, we talked about it last week, but yeah, he's definitely, um, he's definitely one of the diamonds in the rough. Him and, um, guys like Mills didn't, Mills didn't play well this week, but like who guard?
00:36:02
Speaker
Yeah, we're we're heading. Okay. Matt. Yeah, we got 18 for me got called up Scott. We'll talk about him. Um, but yeah, so uh quince take the win and they get back into a semi-final spot So we'll see what happens It'll be interesting to see if they can hold on that'll be in it That'll be the best battle probably is probably going to be the spots for champions cup and um semi-final
00:36:24
Speaker
And we all obviously want Harlequins, whether or not you'd like them or not, you want them to finish top four just so that Jim Hamilton has to get Joe Marla's face tattooed on his eyes. Oh, yeah. That's a fact. Yeah, we want that. We are rooting for that. Yeah, that was part of their Jim and Joe. They're agreed upon. They're a little fake beef that they have. Yeah. Yeah. I don't believe it for a second. That's phenomenal.
00:36:49
Speaker
I think that's I think that's Jim being dumb and Joe Joe just not taking advantage. Well, yeah, maybe that's maybe that. KG prop against unbright lock. Jim Hamilton also enjoying his retirement. That guy loves to party. Yes, he does. Yes, he does. He talks about it all the time. All the time. He talks about how he brought some man home to say he could stay at his house for a night out. He's got kids and a wife.
00:37:18
Speaker
Yeah. You got four kids, dude. Maybe reconsider that. Oh, man. Goals. Right. Life goals. He's moved. And he's moved like five times. And since he's retired up to Scotland back down, up to Scotland back down, I'm like, dude, pick a spot and stay. Yeah, he's not really Scottish, though. I think he's just trying to overcompensate. Maybe a little bit. You know, we all do it. It's OK. Isn't that kind of undercompensating? Or whatever. Yeah, that would be probably it.
00:37:48
Speaker
All right.

Saracens' Game and Strategic Choices

00:37:50
Speaker
Last last match of the weekend. Saracen's taking it home. Best match of the weekend. Thank God. I was a little bit nervous the way we were playing. Those that don't understand, Ben and I are obviously huge Saracen's fans. I definitely am. He's wearing a Saracen's jersey. Yes. As he always does when we putt. Yes. Yes, I do. Support our boy Chris Wiles.
00:38:17
Speaker
Yeah, well, that's another reason. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, this was a little nervy, but there was some good stuff. Ben Earl had a great game. This dude was everywhere. You can see why A. Jones is really excited to maybe give him a shot because, you know, as sevens go, they have, you know.
00:38:35
Speaker
So of the four sevens that I can think of off the top of my head, five, Ted Hill, Curry, Underhill, Earl, Ludlam, those guys all right there are capable of playing seven for England. And some of them have obviously, but also some of them, you know, very easily could. So
00:38:56
Speaker
You know Lester Lester fought they they fought like Cal. That's what they do. Yeah Not like that. Yeah, maybe they do that a little bit Jonah Holmes had a great game after his duty with whales but the The thing for me that I that I noticed in this match probably outside of obviously the the back and forth and the final finish from Saracens was the hooker situation for the Saracens Continues to be very very apparent for me
00:39:25
Speaker
Honestly, I told who I can go to go to France now and I'd be okay with it Wilson Croft should be the backup He's proven it time and time again. What Mark McCall is doing with that. I haven't the slice clue I don't know if he gets input and then from say I think Sanderson's there forwards coach. I
00:39:42
Speaker
Um, maybe I might be wrong about that. Um, but anyway, I don't know if he gets, you know advice from them And then says yo, yeah, i'll play talifua but he needs to knock that shit off Honestly, like put willson kroff as your as your starting hooker, please. Yeah, he's better. He was better And like the throws the throws were the biggest thing, right? He couldn't we have got
00:40:03
Speaker
The Saracens have got one of, if not the best line outs. Doesn't matter who's in there because we have so many gigantic targets to throw to in the league and he's missing throws time and time again. That doesn't make sense to me. So to me, that's down to the thrower, I'm sorry.
00:40:19
Speaker
Yes. Oh, absolutely. You have, you know, you have a sequel and skeleton and Donde and, you know, Jackson Ray goes up there and obviously we have a small gentleman here. We have Cruz and Atoge when they're not on England duty. You know, it's there's plenty of guys to go through. And somehow he still misses these throws. It baffles me. It just absolutely baffles me. So beats me. And then obviously Alex Good gives the gives another proverbial middle finger to Eddie Jones and says,
00:40:47
Speaker
Fuck you, Eddie. Yeah. He's like, what do I have to do? He's done everything. Yeah. Nothing else he can do. I think everyone's asking, what does good have to do to get in the squad? I continue to go with a theory that he like slept with somebody that Eddie Jones knows and is very, very and he's very pissed about it. Speculation.
00:41:06
Speaker
I said, it's a theory. I didn't say it. I didn't say it was as much sense as anything. Yeah, I pretty much. You're right. Yeah. Dan Cole played for Lester, which was interesting. I think he probably needs more game time. I guess so. He played what, a half? He didn't play that much. No, he didn't. That's true. But still, I think it's it's purely rust is an issue. I think probably seems to be the amount of games he's played for England and Lester combined.
00:41:32
Speaker
Right. So, you gotta kinda keep moving. Otherwise, if he stops, he won't. What was in the preliminary squad but not in the final cut down. So, I mean, he got sent back to Lester to continue on as he does. Let's go through the scores real quick and then we'll get into the Six Nations.
00:41:52
Speaker
Obviously the contingent for England from Saracens didn't play. Farrell, Otoje, both of them were polas, one of them was hurt. Jamie George and George Cruz and also Liam Williams got the weekend off. I'm sure Warren Gatlin was very thankful of that. Please don't break my best fullback.
00:42:12
Speaker
Good with 34. Lozowski with 15. It was a mystery as to which one of them was going to get the tee. Lozowski got it. They didn't take too many shots at goal. Bri Barrett with 16. Will Skelton with 13. Nicky Esikwe with 35. He was in my lineup. Thank you, Nicky. Wilson Groff with 35. Off the bench.
00:42:32
Speaker
off the bench should tell you everything you need to know about that um dave startled with 27 although one of his try was kind of easy well it was like that was effortless right it's like luster luster was just like the biggest effort he had to make was to not run into his own man i saw that right i thought that was like crossing or obstruction or whatever the hell it was there was no woody in place to make the tackle you're right so it was okay but he came like
00:43:08
Speaker
And then he's smiling right afterwards. He knows he got away with that one. And then Dom Day with 26. For Lester, Dan Cole was 16. The contingency obviously didn't play other than that. Ford, Youngs, May, Tulis Aviano also didn't play in this match. Ellis Ganz didn't play in this match because he's away with England. He's actually in the 25-man squad for this weekend. I think he might be starting. We'll see.
00:43:23
Speaker
that close so close right up the back and that would have been penalty all right
00:43:36
Speaker
I think jones loves moon. We'll talk about these guys. There's also a thing going around that like you'll get a Tattoo of a dragon on on elskin said he'll get a dragon tattoo if he I don't know if he starts or whatever Apparently has a bunch of tattoos, but he'd be the guy with the dragon tattoo He would be jonah holmes with 32 had a nice match Ben white with 29 george worth 27 Not on your list though. Bateman had 24
00:44:03
Speaker
Bateman did a 24. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, it was close because he had the blood. Oh, yeah. He's leaking all over his face. He plugged it up with some steroids and carried on. Good for him. You know, he's a prop. Yeah. You should you should continue on. Yeah. Not not noted in this last last note. We'll move on. Matt Gallagher had a great day at fullback for Sarazans. Fielding the high ball like he's been there his whole life.
00:44:30
Speaker
Um, you know, not a lot of points scored in this, but may have the match. Yeah. And well-deserved because everybody was pretty much. And we were, we were talking about, we were talking about it. Like we were talking about the Saracens wing. Obviously they have a plethora of them at this point. And like, and he's like the, he's definitely the one guy that people don't realize he is very, very talented.
00:44:50
Speaker
We were talking a couple of weeks ago about Lewington, about how he's coming up. I think Gallagher is surpassing him at the moment. Oh, absolutely. Because he can, again, one of the things we talked about when Lewington was still having his, he was starting and still playing pretty well. The one thing he didn't do that really fucked Saracens was he couldn't deal with the high ball. So if they had Gallagher as an option that they can bump him out to wing,
00:45:15
Speaker
Now, yeah, he can do all those things that that lowington was was struggling to do, right? And so it's it's like look lowington alex, but lowington knows where the tri line is. So he's got quality. It's not like he does, you know, it's not like you're going to throw him away. No, you're not going to throw him away. You're just he's not going to be one of the until he starts dealing with that high ball. He's not going to be one of those guys you can you can rely on, right?
00:45:37
Speaker
So I mean not like what Gallagher showed? No. No, he looked very good. I was very impressed with Matt Gallagher. So good for the kid. All right. Let's get to the big comp. Oh, yeah. Oh, wait. I'll run to the Dream 15 and then we'll go. Yeah.
00:45:55
Speaker
False alarm. You got me so excited. I'm so, dude, I'm full of false alarms. You got to learn this. All right. Dream Team for the Premiership Roguemag competition. Jon Thomas from Bristol with 24. Kyle Cooper. Kyle Black with 100. Yeah, Kyle Black did not have 100. It was definitely an error.
00:46:15
Speaker
Kyle Cooper with Newcastle, the hooker with 36. Will Collier from Hylakon's with 27. A really soft week for the props. Again, we've had a couple of them. 24 and 27. Yikes. Second rose, not so much. Will Rowlands with 73. Chris Vue with 61. Dan Thomas with 38 from Bristol. A lot of Bristolians in here. Thomas Young with 43. Tom Wood with 46. Coase Reinach with 52. A lot of Saints in here too.
00:46:41
Speaker
Um, Joe Simmons with 35. That's somebody to maybe keep an eye on for this weekend when you might need a 10 looking at somebody else that's sitting at this table. Um, Ollie Thoroughly with 38. Ben Tapaway with 34. Rory Hutchinson with 56. No, somebody we didn't really talk about, but man, woo wee.
00:46:57
Speaker
To Kelly and I are aware with 37 and George for a bank with 45 All right This time I really mean it.

International Rugby Squad Announcements

00:47:04
Speaker
Let's talk about six nations Lots of news flying around first the first big piece of news that About I just see it because it's the first match this weekend France named their squad super early. Yeah, what is it's Tuesday today? Yeah, I think they celebrated presents day yesterday It probably should have shoot
00:47:27
Speaker
Yeah, I think you know what they're trying they're being experimental Whether it's a good time to do that or not. I don't know. There's nothing else going on But yeah, they I think they're they're they're they're they're kind of they're doing whatever they can at this point. Yeah Understand of the day. I think maybe they're hoping that they're gonna play a Scotland. That's you know Got some it's some injuries. They're playing Scotland, right? Am I talking? No, you're you're right on you're right on
00:47:54
Speaker
No one nodded when I said that. Staring at things. Keep talking, keep talking. I think that's what they're doing. They're going to jump out ahead. They're thinking that they're going to be playing a Scottish team that's got some injuries going on. Clearly, they knew what they were doing in that top 14 match with Finn Russell and going right for his head.
00:48:23
Speaker
I guess so. Off with his head. Off with his head, indeed. He's in the protocol, so we'll see what happens. Stu Hogg is what? He's out for the foreseeable future? He doesn't need surgery, but I think he's out for the remainder of this. He may come. Maybe the last game. He might come back. Oh, yeah, they did talk about the Calcutta competition as a possibility, so maybe he's back for that. So, you know, and at that point, he's not going to win the Six Nations, so I doubt them. They may not. They may not roll with him. I'm sure Glasgow will be crossing his fingers. Hugh Jones is out? Yes, he's out. So... That's pretty...
00:48:49
Speaker
The French they they smell the haggis. Yeah. It's for the taking. Yeah. Yeah. W. P. Nell is on is on the shelf as well. John Barclay's out. Yeah. So there's some there's some there's some names out there that are not going to be available for the Scots.
00:49:07
Speaker
Yeah, Intimac playing 10. Very interesting. Exciting. Very interesting. I said the same thing. I said, Oh, you know what? That's not a bad idea. I wouldn't and they put Ramos in the same lineup. So I wonder if they're gonna try and chop and change and rotate the two of them back and forth in the back line. That's a possibility. I mean, Ramos is obviously shown he's very quality to lose. No, Morgan Parra.
00:49:29
Speaker
Uh, don't, don't dislike it. Antoine Dupont. Yeah. Uh, Mogevara is, even though he's really not that old, but in rugby, he's old, I suppose. Yeah. In rugby, he's definitely old. Yeah. And I feel like he's also played since the beginning of time. I remember him in like, I feel like I remember him in like the first, uh, you know,
00:49:49
Speaker
whatever those first time those skin tight jerseys came. Oh, yeah. I still think like he was there. Yeah. He might have been. Plus all the French scrum halves all kind of look the same. Yeah, DuPont. Yeah, DuPont and Saron. I didn't like I said, I didn't think Saron did anything wrong.
00:50:09
Speaker
to get dropped the first time. So when, you know, when he wasn't in the lineup, I was like, what the hell? And then obviously DuPont did what he did last game. Hi, Brunel, I'm your best nine probably. So you might want to start me next time, dummy. Yeah, we'll see what.
00:50:25
Speaker
I am coming around towards this lineup as far as Intimaca 10 kind of that rattled me the first time I saw it because I'm right. Well, yeah, you know, you're fair enough. And also fair enough that that Scotland's kind of a a weakened side a little bit at the moment. And they're and they're at San Francisco. I mean, come on, man.
00:50:44
Speaker
And as you said, into Mac, what he played in the, um, the U20 World Cup. Um, yeah, he was there 10. So he's at the, at the natural position. And so they kind of make sense. It's just a huge step up for him to, uh, you know, he was playing what center the past couple of weeks. So this is going to be his first.
00:51:03
Speaker
First go at 10 first go at 10, but he has now he's had that opportunity So he understands the speed of the game and and how um, how different it is at this level, right? So Maybe that was wise I I just said something nice about french rug. I I you know, and I hope I hope for their sake they get a wind underneath their belt
00:51:21
Speaker
And it's not just against Italy. They get an actual, you know, I wanted them to do Wills. That's really the win I wanted them to get on that. I don't really care. But they've been searching for a playmaker. They've been, you know, recycling the the the French of old. Yeah. You know, you can't there's only so many times you can put tranduc.
00:51:41
Speaker
And he doesn't need to be there anymore, you know, so it's it's it's It's exciting to see I think they need a refresh. Yeah, I just hit the refresh button. Absolutely. No, I wouldn't argue with it one second
00:51:55
Speaker
And I'm looking forward to seeing Bamba in the loose again. Yeah, he was very good. Bamba and Poirot start at the props, so that'll be fun for them. So I would presume Hastings gets the 10 jersey for Scotland, or am I crazy in that? Because I don't think they want to throw a weir in there.
00:52:12
Speaker
After not even he hasn't been with the Scottish team for a little while here So right I would imagine that they'd rather have Adam Hastings who's been very good for his club Glasgow So it's not like you know, he's not informed. I played well, you know I honestly thought they might do the same the 1012 combo with Hastings and Russell for a little while but I don't think Hastings quite has a
00:52:34
Speaker
I don't think either one of them quite has the um The attitude to be a center in order to make some of the tackles on some of the big mother efforts that come through there Yeah, neither of them are like the the faz who will not afraid to make that no-arm tackle I will smash you
00:52:50
Speaker
Yeah, Scotland though is still, you know, trying to assert their, their, their place in the, you know, I guess rightful top three, I suppose of the six nations, you know, they've come a long way in a number of years. So it's exciting to see, but this is a test. Yeah. This will, this will be, if they win, then they can probably really, really look forward to what's going to happen in Japan.
00:53:14
Speaker
Yeah, I mean to me this This was going to be pretty much a walk for scotland right up until they got the all these these injuries. So yeah We'll see what we'll see what happens with that We talked about we talked a little bit about the only thing that I really have in my mind for idly island and that was you know

Venue and Squad Updates in Six Nations

00:53:33
Speaker
Changing the venue was at some point, but we did last time maybe you maybe didn't hear about this But I considered it as both Italian rugby playing teams are in the north of England and Rome's mid to south So maybe getting the rugby to where they play the rugby a little closer maybe you can get some friendly of confines and some
00:53:53
Speaker
Stands that aren't you know split 60 40? Yeah, you have more jerseys in this in the in the stands But you probably also don't have as many raucous fans as the other country does that brings them? So maybe at that Yeah, cuz at the Stadio Olimpico, which I'm pretty sure where Roma plays. Yes Which is pretty it's it's a cool stadium. But yeah, it's not ideal cozy match for Ireland
00:54:15
Speaker
Yeah, I mean imagine that, you know, getting on the plane on your Ryanair flight from Dublin down to Rome, just drinking the whole time. Middle of February to go to Rome. I mean, I'd prefer a way day to Italy. Let's go. Yeah, I prefer one of those late March matches. But I mean, come on. Still, you know, that's gonna be the Irish going to be out in full force. Right. You know, the Trevi Fountain.
00:54:42
Speaker
Trey Fountain's gonna be dyed green. And not, not, not from food coloring. Probably not at least. But I mean, a couple of things coming out of that. Johnny Sexton, Hotter, we know, Hotter Cold, we don't know. Yeah. Gary Ringrose is out. Yep, he's out. Inder Henderson seems to be healthy. Finally. But yeah, I mean, you know, though, look back at Ireland, Italy and up in Chicago.
00:55:12
Speaker
Yeah. Ireland smoked them. They hosed them. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Now, whether that was because it was just, you know, one of those, you know, kind of not taking too serious exhibition games, we'll see. But Italy, you know, has been showing fight. Yep. And it's, you know, about damn time.
00:55:29
Speaker
Yeah, no, no, they they they shouldn't fight last match too, you know their first first two matches They've been there they've been right. I think they've been right up in it. Yeah We talked about the last one like, you know go for the if they had gone for the corner
00:55:44
Speaker
in the first half. Against Wales at the end of the first half. That's a different match. Who knows? And they get that pushed over, or you just give it to Paris-Étte and let himself muscle it over, whatever your fancy. Yeah, that's a completely different match. And hey, maybe they give Wales to start panicking. And I mean, Wales had a Hell in One Jones on the bench. But still, you throw in that little element of surprise. And chaos gives it, you know,
00:56:12
Speaker
Whales are going into halftime down two points that could put some panic there Yeah, even with allen wind coming on possibility Anything's possible in that situation for sure. So hopefully they're a little bit more aggressive, right? And uh and take some risks because there there's no way they're going to win this match if they don't take risks absolutely, so Instead of kicking for points. They should be going for the coin. This is this to me is a match where italy should just
00:56:39
Speaker
you know, put away the tea. You have a penalty, you know, unless it unless okay, burn it with the exception of it's if it's tight, late. Yeah, maybe that. Yeah. But in the beginning of the match, you do not know. No, no. Hi, the tea. The tea from frieze and then to muscle island. Nope, you don't get this. Leave it leave it in the locker room. Right. Okay. All right, the big one at the principality.
00:57:06
Speaker
Yeah, right. I still am not used to that. They've changed it from the millennium. Yes. I guess it makes sense. You know, it's been a while since the millennium. It sounds so cool. It does. The entire United Kingdom named everything Millennium something when that shit happened. And it was really annoying. The Millennium Dome was the worst attraction ever. And I'll tell you why. Here's a side story. I'll tell you why.
00:57:32
Speaker
It sucked! There was nothing in there. I didn't understand the whole purpose of it. Plus, I went, and this is a very personal story, I went and I was a kid with my dad and my brother. I was pretty young. It was 2000, so I can't do math. Shut up. Maybe I was like 9 or 10. Anyway, I remember walking into the men's room.
00:57:53
Speaker
didn't have any sign around, little did I know there was about two inches of piss on the ground and I hit that so fucking hard like a slip and slide on the 4th of July and just went right up against the wall covered in urine so fuck you millennium dome
00:58:14
Speaker
you pieces of shit and you anyway so so i guess it's better for you maybe it's better that's a principality principality what the fuck is that well monaco i don't know i don't know that's all i got for you millennium is fucking cool that yeah this stadium is going to be around for a moment like there's just there's connotations there whereas principality is like you get it's like
00:58:39
Speaker
It's all about the monies. Yeah. Yeah. Find a better sponsor. Yeah. I don't know what principality is. Insurance or something. I don't know. I just think it's like a local principality. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. It's yeah. I don't know. You missed a lot of principality. Oh, wait. Are they playing a match there?
00:59:01
Speaker
Okay, let me make sure that we're sorry. No, no, I'm glad we got in that. We're talking about the important things here. That was very important. We had to get that in. It's going to be hostile.

Rivalries and Player Roles in Six Nations

00:59:11
Speaker
Welsh hate the English. Everybody hates the English. I remember the match two years ago where Daily scored the winner. I was like, whoa. Yep. Yep. So always a tightly contested match. However, look at this England team right now.
00:59:29
Speaker
Bouncing they are they're feeling it man. Yeah, they are they I think this is this is I think this was all Eddie Jones's plan Just have a shit used to be the rumor ear and then just you know turn it right around catch everybody off guard There are injuries obviously to the English team with Mako that's gonna hurt Mako and Maro both out Maybe maybe Maro they sent her home
00:59:54
Speaker
No. Did they really? They sent him home. Oh, crap. Yep. I can tell you the England squad right now. He's a freak of nature, so you never know. Yeah. No, they've sent him home. Cow and Dickey, Curry, Gens, George, Hughes, Cruz, Launchbury, Laws, Moon, Shields, Sinclair, Brunepola, Harry Williams, Mark Wilson. That's the four words. Bax, Kokomosingha, Daly, Farrell, Ford, May, Noel, Robson, Slade, Teo, Tuolangi, Youngs.
01:00:24
Speaker
Yeah, Johnny Mayman, he is good. Yeah, knows what the try line is. Do you see where he picked up that that that you know, that kick with one hand and just casually put it down his first try? Yeah. So very nice. You know, yeah, England's England's looking great. Wales, you know,
01:00:47
Speaker
I'm not sure what to really think of them. They haven't impressed me too much. No six nations. I mean, I think England has just have playmakers at every single position. They seem to. Yeah. Maybe not so much the centers as far as they're going to be threats to, I mean, okay. Slade. Slade. Slade. Pretty damn well. Two interceptions or something like that. Yeah. Yeah. He's on two or three at least. Yeah. But, but at 12 they're kind of, you know.
01:01:08
Speaker
Get them. That's why they have a guy like to a laggy to be like you're gonna be the the the hammer now They have tail in there as well. Yeah, possibly do the role of right so they can just flip off there at 12 So it's like okay you deal with tui for for 40 minute, you know 40 50 minutes
01:01:25
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Well, like we talked about with Nano and Sunnybill the other week. Yeah. Oh, that's not fair. Right. Right. So. No, I don't want to. Yeah. I refuse. I refuse. Other than that, I mean, and even Tui and Teo can go for runs when they when they need to. Yeah. Well, Tui showed he's got the ability to. Yeah. So it's not. You just don't see it. You don't. No, because well, because they tell me you have one job. Right. Sucking guys. And then we'll move it afterwards. Mm hmm. You know, that's basically his job.
01:01:56
Speaker
I'll ask you guys this, if you're England, who are you more nervous if they wear a tent shirt and scum or bigger?
01:02:04
Speaker
I think, well, it hasn't Wales been playing Gareth Anscombe. It's been split. Bigger hit a huge kick to win the match against Wales. I think Dan Bigger always haunts at least England fans after the 2015 World Cup, at least for me. Fair enough. I don't know if it bothers the England team that much because they see him pretty much day in and day out in the Premier League. Yeah, for the Saints, yep.
01:02:28
Speaker
Gareth Anscombe not so much because he's playing in Wales and he's playing in the Guinness Pro So, I don't know I think they're they're probably prepared for both. I think right definitely I I still just you know after that with Dan bigger is the ghost bigger I think is life to me is the better player and
01:02:54
Speaker
However, overall, however against England I think I'd go with Anscombe because it just brings a little bit of a different energy and Unpredictable, right? He's very downhill and Bigger's kicking is not gonna be nearly as effective No, because England are very used to it. Speaking of kicking Lee halfpenny seems to be healthy
01:03:17
Speaker
Yeah So I think you still pull Liam Williams in the 15 shirt back there But half penny though is is kind of like, you know figurehead for this team right and I think he instills confidence Maybe you put yeah, yeah absolutely
01:03:36
Speaker
Oh, no, I don't think you'd put lee halfpenny on the wing. No, I would put I wouldn't I wouldn't hesitate to know put leon williams on the wing No, he can but he can totally play there. Um Yeah, people are freaking I remember one match they were saying they were shit. I think it was the france match They were saying shitting on leon williams because he was playing out of position. I was like, uh, dude You play okay. Listen, he plays back three. I understand some people don't play wing or or don't play fullback that are back three players he does like
01:04:03
Speaker
If it was Alex Good who's probably not played on the wing with him once or twice in his life, but plays fullback all day. Okay, Liam Williams goes back and forth all the time. So this isn't a new thing. Just because he hasn't played there this season isn't a new thing for him to play fullback. So, you know, stop talking out your ass.
01:04:20
Speaker
I mean, if you could, you know, you can see half penny playing now. Could you imagine him full penny? Full penny. I had to put that in there. Please. He loves it. He's all about that. Freaking pun out the ass, man. Go for it.
01:04:36
Speaker
So, yeah. Let's... Prediction on that, though. I think England will win it. We'll get to that. We'll get to pick them. Okay. Sorry, I'm just getting really excited. I know you are. I see that. It's been a week. I see that. It's been a week of no international rugby. James, put your pants back on. It's all I care about. No, no, no. Leave them off.
01:04:57
Speaker
So obviously you're gonna have there's gonna be some issues and I just want to touch on some of these real quick There's definitely gonna be issues with for people with lineups with obviously things like you guys like who Jones are missing hogs on the line of being in or being out Jones is on your team. You got problems. You probably already need to quit Yeah so guys to consider that are for replacement props and
01:05:25
Speaker
Allen Dell, Sinclair, Bamba, and LaVotti would be probably some of your better ones in terms of that. Furlong's obviously not bad, but he's not, his average isn't... He's the wrong Irish prop. Yeah, his average isn't hot by any means.
01:05:43
Speaker
Yeah, he's pretty good, but you know what there'll be a change side so that'll be you know, that'll be some somebody to wait on If you need a fly half obviously Farrell's a good option Tommaso Allen is a has been scoring points So, you know, you're not gonna need a lot is on my bench. Yeah, I have him on my bench I'm probably gonna have to slide him in but we're still waiting to see if Johnny Sexton is gonna get right
01:06:10
Speaker
Yeah, and then obviously the guy we just talked about, Intimac, I think he's got the potential to have a huge game here at home, getting his first start at 10. The prodigy, as they say. If you need a second row replacement, because you're probably going to need one for multiple reasons, a lot of the Irish locks have been getting hurt.
01:06:31
Speaker
Mario has been hurt. Gilchrist, your guy Gray, also a good one. Cece from Italy, also very good. And our boy that we talked about and were very hot on last week, Courtney Laws. That's another one to throw in there. You're not going to go wrong with Courtney Laws. Nope. So those are some names to consider when you're looking for
01:06:52
Speaker
replacements for your robimag lineup You know, there's I have multiple guys injured so, you know, I have my I have I have options to Transfer in and out. So if I need you know, I don't necessarily need to get rid of macro and take an English prop So the you know if you're in that situation like me you have options to move guys around. I
01:08:06
Speaker
Hey guys, what's up? It's Jared from the Fancy Rugby Yanks. If you are wondering where the Pick'em was, we've actually put it in the second part of this episode, so if you want to know who we picked for the week, just give a listen to that one and you can even fast forward to the end if you want. Thanks for listening, guys.
