Speaker: This is a Muck Stain Productions Podcast.
Speaker: Hello homies and trainers and welcome to Unknown Radio, your month's name production Pokemon talk show where we take a peek at every Pokemon. I'm Claudia and I'm here with my co -host and longtime partner in Team Rocket, Catherine. Hello, I am Catherine. I bring the pizzazz while Claudia hits me with the facts.
Speaker: I'm gonna hit you a lot with this one. I'm not prepared. We are gonna be doing number 15 in the national decks, and this is Beedrill. Yay. He's so excited about Beedrill. He's so boring. I can't think of anything good about Beedrill. Well, I have a couple of things, so maybe I can change your tune. Doubtful, but I can give it a shot. You can try. Yeah.
Speaker: Right, you have any idea what his tagline is? I don't know, the bee Pokemon. Very close. Very close. He is the poison bee Pokemon. Right, so they put poison in front of it to make him sound more excited, but we know the truth. Yes. So much like his tagline, he is a bug poison type and what does he look like?
Speaker: He looks like a bee with a giant fucking bee stinger on the end. Yes. Like, he just looks exactly like a bee, but with a big stinger, he's pointless. And he's got these weird metal stinger on his arms as well. I was waiting for you to hit that. He does have these stingers on his arms that look a lot like lances, and we will get into that.
Speaker: but he is three foot, three inches tall. And he weighs 65 pounds, which equates to 29 .5 kgs. Yet again, would not like him to hit my windscreen in the summer. This one would be worse than butterfree. Yeah, like imagine having a barbecue and that little bugger comes. He can have my whole barbecue, he can. He could fly off with the entire grill.
Speaker: Yeah, bye bye ketchup, I don't want you anyway. I'm gonna have to get one big mighty fucking wasp swatter with this. Yeah, imagine you just have to have like a - you just have to live in a giant mosquito net for your whole life. And I'm allergic to bees and wasps, so that would be my life in the Pokémon universe. You'd be like the bubble boy.
Speaker: I'd have to, because I go into anaphylaxis. Could you imagine being stung by this? I just, I don't know, explode. I'd... Yeah, yeah, no, you would. I have to. It's not wrong. So the bee drill is based on different types of stinging insects, namely bees, hornets, or wasps, but it most resembles the Asian giant hornet. Yeah, they're bloody terrifying. And its arms resemble lances or spears.
Speaker: So it's like a fighting boy. Yeah. He'll give me the how to's and what for's with his, I'm doing like an example of like, I don't know, karate, but this is an audio only podcast. Yep. So that's no pointless. I'm having to describe what I'm doing. He'll give you some of that. He'll give you a little bit of the old run around.
Speaker: It's the trill on that. Be drilled, giving the odd runaround. Gotta make him have some of his ass. He's got nothing else. Be drilled. Just make him a fancy boy, put on a little trilby.
Speaker: Even that. Do you know what? I'd give it a go. So the regular old one is the stereotypical kind of B with the yellow and black being like nature's warning signs. But the shiny version is green and black with blue eyes. Nice. It still looks horrible. It just looks like it's got a disease. It looks like an alien. It doesn't look like an alien.
Speaker: Looks like an alien wasp. And now I'm just, I saw a TikTok earlier about things that you insert inside of yourself to leave eggs. And that is the first thing I thought about looking at this and thinking it was an alien and I hate it.
Speaker: We'll discuss that later cause I need to know more cause I also saw something on TikTok about inserted eggs. Yeah, we'll discuss that after. Right, moving on. Moving on. Um, so this guy lives two to four years, which is a little longer than the butterfly lives. Butterfly. Here we go again. I'm not even on the butter free episode and I'm calling it butterfly, the butter free, but it's still not long. So these.
Speaker: insect Pokemon suck. Moving on from that, we'll move into his characteristics. So his characteristics. So the Beedrill flies at high speeds and attacks using the large venomous stingers on its forearms and its abdomen. It will then take the victims of its attacks back to its nest for food. Does it feed its creepy things with it? Its creepy children?
Speaker: It does. So the bee drill is highly territorial and unlike real bees, bee drill live in colonies rather than true quote -unquote hives. And they work together to solve basic problems regarding food, territory, and reproduction. So they essentially live with, you know, their baby wheedles and cocoonas.
Speaker: in this very weird, not like a hive because there's no kind of queen bee in this sense, but similar to a bee system than the wasps that live very solitary unless they're breeding. Oh, okay. That's quite interesting. Yeah.
Speaker: Which makes sense in the anime whenever there was that one episode when Ash came up to a B drill and then it ended up being like 10 B drill and they tried to kill him. Yeah. Which based off a wasp that seems legit. Yes. Once you piss one off, you piss them all off. Absolutely. But unlike a real wasp, this guy can pick you up and take you back to feed his children.
Speaker: Yeah, no, it's actually terrifying. I've hated Beedrill more looking into it, but moving swiftly on. You told me you were going to change my mind. Why are you lying?
Speaker: been a long week, I don't need these lies. Researching it and then discussing said research lead to very different opinions. So the Bijo nest in temperate forests and misty wooden areas, it is known to collect pollen, which Teddy Ursa combines with fruits to concoct honey. Bijo have been seen living in hives and producing honey themselves as well. That's cute.
Speaker: So like a bee wasp hybrid in the worst way. Yep. That's all I've learned about Pokémon doing this is that they pick the worst characteristics of an animal or insect and then make it fight. Yes. For pleasure. Yeah.
Speaker: Like, let's go. So as seen in the anime, Beedrill seems to be especially concerned with the welfare of Weedle and Kakuna. So like we were talking about in our last episode, well, last canonical episode, how the Kakuna hang from trees when they're kind of heating up and waiting to evolve. If you knock against one of those, you will piss off a lot of Beedrill. I mean,
Speaker: I feel like it's not gonna be hard to piss off a bee drill. No. Just look at it wrong. Yeah. I feel like he's always ready to fight. Just at any moment. Just buzzing away and the buzz is just their inherent rage. Oh God, they must be so annoying. God, the noise of erm... Oh, it would just be like a hundred three foot bees flying towards you. It would be like... That's a sensory nightmare.
Speaker: Just a little bit. I know I've talked a lot about a lot of these like mega Pokemon being, well, the Gigantamax Pokemon being like the bringing of an apocalypse. Yeah. This one doesn't even have to be a Gigantamax. You just hear a hundred bee drill, just coming closer and closer. I'd jump off the nearest building. It's terrifying. I definitely wouldn't go in a forest. No way.
Speaker: No, I don't even know what I'd do. I'd go underground. Or actually, they're scared of fire. So I'll just carry like a fire with me all times. Or just a nice Grandpa Charizard. Oh, Grandpa Charizard. Oh, he's so small.
Speaker: He's bigger than a B -drill. He is. He's not bigger than me. I can't ride him to school. We can circle back around and say yes, Charmander is the best starter because with a Charmander, you don't have to fear a B -drill. Yep. Confirmed. We're just further emphasising our point.
Speaker: So despite it being absolutely terrifying to think about, the Beedrill are vital to the ecosystem of the Cantonian and Jotonian regions, helping prevent overpopulations of Pokémon such as Paris and Pidgey from growing uncontrollably. What? So they kill them or? I'm assuming that would be their prey to take back to their colonies. Yeah, because one would assume.
Speaker: That Pidgey's going to be eating bee drill, but obviously not. Yeah, Pidgey's a lot smaller than bee drill. So the tables have turned. The tables have the turned. Which makes sense because Pidgey eat weedle, so then bee drill eat Pidgey. Yeah. Scary. Hopefully just Pidgeots come and just wing slap them and get them out of the way. Yeah, take care of the bee drills and crack them open for a bit of a snack. Drink those liquids.
Speaker: Oh, the liquids that were simmering warmly inside the cocoona. Horrific. So a final point is that trainers traveling in Beedrill territory are strongly advised to bring alone Pokemon that can handle Beedrill and their attacks. So essentially what we were saying about the Charizard. Yeah. These are 10 year old children. What?
Speaker: The trainers. No, darling, it's a B drill. I would prefer a room of 10 year olds than a room of B drills. I think everybody would prefer a room of 10 year olds over a room of B drills. And that's saying a lot. That is saying a lot because children are gross.
Speaker: But they will not sting you with their stinky butts. No, they sting you with their words. Children are savage, but not quite as savage as Beedrill. Especially when they hit 12. For context, Catherine teaches 12 year olds. And they're so mean.
Speaker: So Beedrill is another one of these Pokemon that have a mega evolution. So giving Mega Beedrillite
Speaker: Beedrill Mega evolves into the Mega Beedrill, who is also a bug poison type. Do you have any idea about what this Pokémon looks like? Is it just a bigger version of the Beedrill? You should do a Google. Mega Beedrill. It's just got two extra stingers.
Speaker: Hmm, that's the most disappointing mega evolution I've ever seen in my life. It's just legs to some extra stingers.
Speaker: I think it's horrifying. That's so disappointing. So this guy goes up to four foot seven inches and he now weighs 89 .3 pounds, which is 40 .5 kgs. I'm so glad you started to convert them by the way. You're welcome. That's actually massive. I would bow down to King Beedrill. Oh, I feel like if you wouldn't, you'd die.
Speaker: Yeah, I don't want to admit it because B drill is horrible, but I think I'd have to bow down to Mega B drill.
Speaker: So as Mega Bijo, it gains more defined features. The antenna are shorter and T -shaped, its eyes become longer and sleeker, kind of looking like Venom from the Spider -Man series now. And it now has three pairs of wings, and the stingers become longer and larger resembling lances, and they have additional red and black stingers as well. So this guy now has a stinger for every orifice.
Speaker: Why did you say it like that? Sounds so grim. Like why? Imagine this thing coming up on your barbecue. I don't want to now.
Speaker: Why did you have to say every orifice? Because I mean if you're gonna do math it's pretty much every orifice right here. So fast acting poison is stored in the stingers on its limbs while the tail stinger produces a slow acting poison that is used to finish opponents.
Speaker: The instantaneous poisons are instead used to prevent the foe from fleeing. So he gets you with the fast -acting poisons, so you cannot escape, and then he stings you with the slow -acting poison to kill you when you're incapacitated. He's horrible. And I thought wasps were bad.
Speaker: This is like those murder hornets on acid. Yeah. Yeah, no, I can see that. 0 out of 10. I do not ever want to see this Pokemon. Nope, do not let me. And I'm glad it doesn't have a Gigantamax. Yeah, that would be nightmare fuel. So on that note, would you like to move on to our question section?
Speaker: So if you were just walking along Viridian Forest, as you were before, and you just hear, like the hair's on your neck, stand on end, and you just hear a buzzing, and then just one bee drill just flies out in front of you in the path, what would you do? Take a photo and run.
Speaker: much in the realm of Pokemon Snap. You just take a photo of it, please. Do you know what? I love that game. It's so relaxing. Put it on the big screen. Stunning. But yeah, no, I'd take a picture and leave.
Speaker: You don't want to piss that one off because there will be 99 other B drills waiting to kill you. Yeah, no, I don't want any of those in my life. No, thank you. And you'll probably go home and then kill the Kakuna that you kept. Oh yeah. Crack it open like a walnut. Oh, spill out the innards.
Speaker: before it becomes a Beedrill. So what functions do you think that the Beedrill would have other than battling? I think it would be good on a farm to pollinate. Yes, and keep those Paris and Pidgey populations under control. But apart from that, it can burn. This would be the best guard dog. Yeah. Oh yeah. Think of it for security.
Speaker: Just have like a ring of them around like your property. No one coming near you. No one's coming in and no one's leaving. Yeah. It's like Willy Wonka. So Willy Wonka. He's just got B drills. Nobody ever goes in. Nobody ever comes out. B drills instead of umpa lumpas. Yeah. They'd have to be the green ones though.
Speaker: Yeah, why are the green ones? Because they look like aliens. They look like aliens. Yeah, fair. And they won't clash with the Impalumpas. Right. Oh, another B drill function. One of those egg suppositors. This could go in every orifice! Every hole's a goal! No! Oh god.
Speaker: I know we talked about milking a wheedle for the poison. You could milk this guy. Yeah, you could actually. He would be quite good at killing people. If you got him on your side, he could be a good assassin. Assassin? But he's not very secretive though, is he? No, you can hear him coming. He could make it look like an accident.
Speaker: Oh, especially that mega one with that slow acting poison. Slip that in someone's drink. Yeah. Wabam! Bob's your uncle, sorted. Yeah, no one would know because you could leave. You could do it in like the last drink of the meal. Off you go, I'm. Wabam. And it's slow acting. Yeah, exactly. Alright, so murder. Yes.
Speaker: That's all he's good for, is murder and pollinating. Two very different sides of the spectrum. He is the bringer of life and also the bringer of death. Yes. And he makes a crack in good honey. Ooh, do you reckon he does? I love a good honey. Yeah, it says there was been seen living in hives and producing honey. And what's his name makes it, doesn't he? The Tediasa. Yeah, the little cute guy. Oh, he's like Winnie the Pooh.
Speaker: Little Tedieursa with all his honey. But who somehow steals it from Bijo? Maybe he's immune to Bijo stings. Like the Robin Hood of honey. Right, we've got to write that down for when we get to Tedieursa. So what do you think Bijo eats? Well, we eat nice, don't we? Paris and Pidgey. And 10 -year -old children. And 10 -year -old children, yeah. All right, moving on. Could we eat this?
Speaker: No. No, I reckon it'll be poisonous. We're gonna stick to that precedent that we set, that if the Pokémon is poisonous, it's probably not edible. Yeah, I think that's a wise choice. Okay. So, no. No.
Speaker: So, final question. If you walk back into that bar that you've recently had a couple of scuffles in in Viridian Forest, and you do like a bit of a bar scrap, as we've learned from doing this podcast. And you see at the bar, there's a bee drill. I'm sorry, a bee drill. Wearing a little trilby.
Speaker: With a moustache. His banana peppers. And his green brother Luigi. And he's somehow nursing, what's an Italian drink? Oh, an Aperol Spritz. Okay, he's nursing an Aperol Spritz somehow even though he doesn't have hands.
Speaker: Maybe he does like bees do, and he just sticks his whole face in the cup, getting his mustache a little wet. Yeah, and it's gonna be a sugar, so it keeps him going, you know? Yeah, yeah. You know, he's had a tough day, you know, being a plumber. No, he's had a tough day guarding the Wonka factory. Okay. And also doing the plumbing work on the side with his brother Luigi. Right, anyway.
Speaker: And he turns around and he looks at you and you know that he's just always mad because he's never been to therapy. Who would win? He would win based purely on the fact that he's got them stingers. Now, if I could get him from behind, I reckon I could potentially snap his neck.
Speaker: Oh, like hide behind his wings so he can't get you with his hands. Yeah, I reckon he's got a blind spot like right behind his back. I reckon you stay there and you can get a few punches in. But as soon as that stinger comes near, you're gonna. Yeah, unless you've got one of them B suits. Yeah, you'd have to be ready. You'd be prepared to be.
Speaker: So as long as you be prepared for B drills, drills, then you'll be fine. Yeah. Just snap his neck and go on your way. Yeah, basically. But you'd have to hide the evidence from the other B drills. Yeah, exactly. There's too many of them and I just don't think it's worth it.
Speaker: Absolutely not. So I would say Beedrill will take the win here. Okay, you know, it's not often that you have to admit defeat. It's not and I haven't many a time but this time it's an I go really unless I had like a lighter with me and then I could potentially
Speaker: bit of arson, but that is a little bit out of my realm. Just a little bit. Or if you went in here for the intent to murder this guy and you had premeditated it and got your whole outfit on, maybe like a fly swatter. Yeah. So then it wouldn't be like a bar fight then, would it? It would be like premeditated murder. Yeah. And that's got quite a long prison sentence. Yeah. And we're not going to do that. Pokemon prisons are probably horrible. I reckon they've got B drills in there.
Speaker: It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban. It's just like Azkaban.
Speaker: I just think I only ever get a bee drill when I want to fill up my Pokedex. I just hate him. Yeah. Like he's not even nice to look at. No. Like he was useless and cute. Fine. But he's just evil. Yeah. Or if it was super useful but ugly then that's also fine. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah, but no, you've got nothing to bring to the table, buddy. So see you later. Yeah, we don't like you, Beedrill. And you will kill me. And I don't like that. So I'm just gonna stay away. Yeah, basically. And you're to in order to become a Beedrill, you have to boil yourself.
Speaker: But that's enough for me. And that's fueled his hate fire for life. Yeah, I'm not bloody surprised. Well, that's it for Beedrill. And luckily we have something really exciting for next week. Do we? Pidgey. Oh, yay. Now I love Pidgey. I do love Pidgey. I think you're gonna really enjoy Pidgey. I'm looking forward to it. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Speaker: Yeah, I did lie on this one, but I'm not lying about the next one. I promise. Yeah, you really sold me a dream on this one. All right. Well, that's all. I really drilled that one into you. Can you believe it? You could drill me. No, too far. Right. See you next week. Goodbye, Pokefans. Bye.
