ah I'm gonna have to get used to that, Adash.
00:00:15
Adarsh
Thank you.
00:00:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, it's playing again. All right, let's let it run again.
00:00:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Go

Introduction to the Daily Liverpool Podcast

00:00:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
away. Right. So you are listening to the Daily Liverpool podcast on the Global Sports Podcast Network. My name is Louis Easton. I'm joined by Adarsh Ramchurn.
00:00:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
And today we will have plenty to discuss as as we're recording this, the PFA

PFA Awards and Isak's Exclusion

00:00:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
podcast. ah team of the season, player of the season, young player of the season of all been announced as well as and a statement from Alexander Isak. So I'll start straight away with that.
00:00:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'll let you talk in a minute, Adash. I'm proud to be recognized by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League team of the season for 2024-25.
00:01:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
First and foremost, I want to thank my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way. I'm not at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn't feel right to be there.
00:01:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said.
00:01:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.
00:01:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.
00:01:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Signed off, Alexander Isak.

Liverpool Fan Reactions to Isak's Statement

00:02:00
Adarsh
um
00:02:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wow, that's a powerful thing to come out and say with all of these things going on. Adash, what's your reaction to that?
00:02:06
Adarsh
yeah I mean gosh that is a statement that is a crazy statement um and mean I mean, it obviously makes sense why he's not going to be at the PFA Awards um for for his own sort of best interest. But I mean, to put that out on the night, I think he knows what he's doing. And I think, I mean, i as a Liverpool fan, obviously I'm going to agree with that statement. I obviously want him to to make that change when comes to Liverpool. But I mean, it takes some some guts to to put out a statement like that.
00:02:35
Adarsh
um And also I think to kind of, show his side of the story because we've only heard one side of the story when it comes to this Alexander Isak news of you know him wanting to leave and him kicking up a fuss but if it's what he's saying is true and he's been told that he can leave and he can explore his options but the club are not letting him do that then i mean it's quite a sticky one isn't it
00:02:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's it's It's a really weird one because i just feel like an NDA has probably been signed and Isak has just thought, you know what, I'm not interested in this contract anymore.
00:03:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to rip this up and I'm going to say what I want to say. I mean, we all know that he's going on strike. Everyone knows that he wants to leave Newcastle and join Liverpool. um I'm just a bit wary of the way gone about

Isak's Potential Move to Liverpool: Parallels to Torres

00:03:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
it. I mean, what it sort of reminds me of is Torres leaving us to join Chelsea in 2010, 2011, whatever it was.
00:03:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
um and And, you know, it's a real kick in the nuts, is a supporter of, in this case, Newcastle. Because you've got a player here who has had great memories with you, won the Carabao Cup for you, basically, with his goal and his performance against us at Wembley, which...
00:03:44
Adarsh
Thank you.
00:03:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
we all regret happened. But um i just I just think it's mental because you're a player. You're not bigger than the club. And you're acting quite arrogant, in my opinion.
00:04:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
He just wants to force the move through. And Newcastle were taking quite a while to open the doors to his exit, which is... probably best for everyone, especially since he's paid more than ever any other Newcastle player, I'd imagine.
00:04:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he's acting the most unprofessional about this. So a deal has to be made.
00:04:21
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:04:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
There's no doubt about it. It's just how much and, you know, how quickly it will happen. I don't think... what's going on with Newcastle at the moment is right when they should just open the doors let him go ah suppose what they're hoping is because Liverpool are playing Newcastle on Monday right so they don't want him to be involved with Liverpool for that match I'd imagine so they're probably going to wait until after that match and then accept probably our first offer which was 120 million i think
00:04:41
Adarsh
yeah
00:04:54
Adarsh
Yeah, 100%.
00:04:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
and then that And then they'll let him go after that. But I just think, oh, it's just such a mess, this entire situation.
00:05:02
Adarsh
Yeah.

Transfer Rumors: Isak vs. Other Players

00:05:03
Adarsh
There's been a merry-go-round of transfers um this summer of people and players putting out statements or wanting to go on strike and not, I mean, obviously it's happening with Johan Wissler at the moment with Brentford and one of him wanting force a move to Newcastle, which I think is quite ironic.
00:05:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:18
Adarsh
Obviously, as Liverpool fans, we had the same, not same, but similar situation with Trent Alexander-Arnold kind of wanting to get that move to Real Madrid. So, yeah, Yeah, no, um I mean, it' it's going to be an interesting few weeks.
00:05:31
Adarsh
And I think you're right, Newcastle are probably waiting for that game against Liverpool to happen. And then probably negotiation well will start from there.
00:05:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, the difference between this one and the Trent Alexander-Arnold situation is but is that Trent left on a free.
00:05:44
Adarsh
Without contract? Yeah.
00:05:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. And we still managed to get 10 mil for him. So, you know, ah how free was it?
00:05:48
Adarsh
Somehow, yeah.
00:05:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah He's playing as we're recording this podcast as well.
00:05:51
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:05:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I wish him the very worst. But it's ah it's a mess. And, you know, with regards to Isak, I just sort of... A part of me almost feels bad for him, that he's essentially being held hostage by Newcastle

Criticism of Newcastle's Management of Isak

00:06:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
at the moment. and And it's just... The difference between this one and the Eberrechi-Eze situation that's going on at the moment, it's night and day.
00:06:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Because Eze's still playing. he He just scored on the weekend against Chelsea. Well, it got disallowed, I think. But um he just... I mean, he's his attitude has just been so much better ah when he's trying to get himself to Spurs at the moment. and
00:06:38
Adarsh
yeah I do think yeah I do think maybe it it does depend on the club as well because I think from what I've heard about pal the Palace Eze situation is that Palace have said to Eze if a
00:06:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
But it's... I can't believe it.
00:06:49
Adarsh
club does come for you, you we will look at accepting an offer.
00:06:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:06:53
Adarsh
Whilst I think for Newcastle and Isak, maybe that's been communicated, but then obviously Isak's got a different side the story to the owners. So, I mean, that's how that's how I've read it and the situation. What I don't understand about Newcastle is.
00:07:08
Adarsh
They're not really thinking very strategically. If if they let Isak go now for, say, £120, £130 million, they could reinvest that money into their squad. And obviously, they're competing in the Champions League. they They want to get probably a striker in, other attacking players, bulk up the squad a bit more. But, I mean, obviously, we did that with the Coutinho money to get Van Dijk and Alisson.
00:07:28
Adarsh
If I'm Newcastle, cash in, cash in, get the money. He clearly doesn't want to be here. He wants to join Liverpool. For obvious

Isak's Transfer Request Dilemma

00:07:34
Adarsh
reasons. ah Just cash in, get the money, and invest invest in the squad.
00:07:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I just i just think it's sorry.
00:07:37
Adarsh
Especially with two weeks left.
00:07:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Go on.
00:07:40
Adarsh
No, I was just going to say, with two weeks left of the window, that's plenty of time. If you can get it done as soon as possible, you can reinvest that money.
00:07:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, i and what's crazy to me is just the it's the sheer greed of it. Not from the Newcastle perspective, but from Isak's perspective. Because he could have put in a transfer request and he's...
00:07:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't think he's actually handed in a formal transfer request because that would have been front page news if he had.
00:08:02
Adarsh
Hmm.
00:08:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Instead, it's Isak goes on strike. Isak refuses to train with the first team. Isak refuses to play in Newcastle's first team matches. Just hand in a transfer request. And it's greed because if he does do that, then they'll gets a they'll get less of a portion of the money.
00:08:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that's this it's it's just a testament to how how highly these Premier League players think of themselves.
00:08:23
Adarsh
and
00:08:33
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:08:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
And, yeah, it's it's it's a sad sight of what money can do to people. LAUGHTER
00:08:40
Adarsh
It is, isn't it? Yeah, to be fair, I mean, obviously I got my little put-out on and obviously i wanted to join, but from a neutral point of view, how he is acting, I mean, it's not ideal. And I don't think um he's doing himself...
00:08:52
Adarsh
you know, put himself in glory. But if this is the extent that he has to go to, to get that move to Liverpool and but let's face going to Liverpool is a dream for how many players. And I mean, just the pull that Arnaz Slot has had this season, this summer alone, getting in players like Verts, Eketike, Frimpon, Kerkes, maybe Mark Gehi, you add to that as well.
00:09:11
Adarsh
Um, I mean, it's hard to turn down and he's obviously impacted Isak's head, his head all over the place. So um from that point of view, it's hard. It's hard. It's very hard from a player that, you know, he wants to progress. He wants to win the Champions League. He wants to win the Premier League.
00:09:28
Adarsh
With all due respect, he's not going to do that Newcastle. So, um yes, there's different ways you can go about it. But ultimately, he wants to achieve his dreams.

Zlatan's Fake Comment on Isak

00:09:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and not only has Isak released a statement on this, but Zlatan Ibrahimović has also spoken on this situation.
00:09:44
Adarsh
Oh.
00:09:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, this is hearsay. I'm paraphrasing at the moment based on ah what multiple sort of tabloids have been saying in the press. I could go to his Twitter just to verify that if this is true, but if this is...
00:10:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Zlatan. He says, he is a Swedish boy. He knows he needs to fill in my shoes, but playing for Carabao Cup football club will not allow him to come even close to a lot of the titles, which I have won. This can't be real, surely.
00:10:12
Adarsh
Yeah, so early, I'll be here.
00:10:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
i mean, this was also linked in our in our WhatsApp group that we have at the Daily Liverpool. So I'm reading it from there. um I will verify this, but I'll just read the rest and we'll play an advert and I'll tell you if it's true or not. But if Zlatan has said this, it's hilarious.
00:10:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Newcastle and the United must understand that they were paying playing for Isak, not the other way around. So he released Newcastle from his life. That's how a mean Swedish man rolls. Soon he will play for league titles.
00:10:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Carabao Cup is indeed not type.
00:10:40
Adarsh
Yeah, I don't know. If that's true, that's great.
00:10:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, if that's if that satire, that is absolutely class to whoever wrote that. We are going to take a short break. Now we'll talk more about the PFA Awards up next. But first, it's time for you to hear from our partners, Bionique.
00:11:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, so I do think that was fake and because i've gone to his I've gone to his Twitter page.
00:11:35
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:11:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Let me just search up Carabao because he did say Carabao. ah No, okay, fine. ah Whoever made that, you're a legend. But you have also misled me and made me look quite bad at my own company. So, you know, ah mixed emotions there. We'll talk about the PFA awards now because ah certain Egyptian king has made history.

Mo Salah's PFA Triumph

00:12:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mo Salah has been voted the PFA Players Player of the Year.
00:12:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
for a record third time um i mean this this is expected because he is just the best player in the world in my eyes um and adash i'm sure you'll agree there's not been a season he's had like last season i know it sort of uh became a little bit rocky towards the end but in his prime last season he was a joy to watch wasn't he
00:12:30
Adarsh
Yeah, no, he was unplayable. I think the key catalyst to Liverpool winning the Premier League last season, I mean, with without his goals and assists, we we don't win that Premier League title. um And I just see like the way he took his game to another level last season was but so refreshing to see. I think just seeing him play more of a creative role in the team, getting those assists, play I mean, he could easily have had ah another 10 more assists if...
00:12:55
Adarsh
players like Diaz, Nunes were taking their chances last season. But um no, he was he was exceptional and so long may it continue. And I think this season, he's got a big season ahead of him, obviously signing that new um two-year contract at Liverpool.
00:13:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:13:09
Adarsh
So I expect big numbers.
00:13:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:13:10
Adarsh
If he's getting players like Isak Heketike converting those chances, then I'm sure he's going to get those numbers again. But I think to see him win the PFA Player of the Year award three times, all at different stages of his Liverpool career,
00:13:25
Adarsh
The very first season, probably um that that season we almost won four trophies and obviously last season, um just shows his longevity and shows how he's been able to adapt to playing for Liverpool in different styles and different ways and also under a different manager.
00:13:39
Adarsh
So, yeah, I mean, I've complimented Salah plenty of times on this podcast, but it never gets boring complimenting him.
00:13:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. No, it doesn't. And the thing is, I've seen him left out of the Ballon d'Or discussions, ah but ah it's it's crazy because all the talk is about Usman Dembele, Rafinha and Lamin-Yamao.
00:14:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Lamin-Yamao has not nearly reached the heights of Salah. I mean, he's had an exceptional season, bearing in mind that he's 16 17 last season.
00:14:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
um so for him to do what he did was incredible but he's the golden boy he's not the ballon d'or or whatever it's called um
00:14:18
Adarsh
and
00:14:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then you got Rafinha and

Mo Salah and the Ballon d'Or Snub

00:14:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Usman Dembele. Those, to me, are the only two competitions. But bearing in mind, Usman Dembele does play in Ligue 1.
00:14:28
Adarsh
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
00:14:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it'ss for me, it's Salah or Rafinha. And it it depends. Because Rafinha did do so well in the Champions League, but he didn't win it.
00:14:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he didn't do that well in La Liga compared to so what Salah did in the Premier League. Salah in the Premier League. Won that, and he is part of the reason, of a huge, huge catalyst to the reason that we won it, because of the numbers he was putting up.
00:14:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I just, it's it's crazy to me, because it's completely engraved already in my mind, Salah Ballon d'Or 2025. twenty twenty five Do you not feel the same way?
00:15:06
Adarsh
No, i I feel the same way. And do you know what's actually given me a lot of confidence is actually Rodri winning the Ballon d'Or last season because City didn't win the Champions League. They obviously won the Premier League and he was pivotal to that.
00:15:17
Adarsh
um And I think he was up against Vinicius who obviously won the Champions League. But in my eyes, last season, Vinicius, in terms of numbers and contributions, didn't hit the heights of what Salah's done this season.
00:15:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:15:28
Adarsh
um And I think that gives me confidence that he could lift the Ballon d'Or this season. I know he's up against Dembele, who...
00:15:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:15:36
Adarsh
if I think Dembele, yes, he he's played in Ligue 1, but... was a key part of that Champions League winning team for PSG. um Rafinha obviously playing his part in Barcelona and Liga as well.
00:15:49
Adarsh
um But I do think Salah has a great opportunity. And I know there's been talk of him not being up there with the the likes of Yamal and Rafinha and Dembele, but i'm I'm still confident.
00:15:59
Adarsh
And I think this PFA play of the year trophy, yeah, this the PFA play of the trophy,
00:16:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's better than your mouth.
00:16:05
Adarsh
player of the year trophy gives him a lot of confidence and I think he can do it and i I'm um'm confident but at the end of the day this award is is voted by journalists and yeah
00:16:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do you think he's the best player in the world?
00:16:16
Adarsh
Yes, I genuinely believe that. I think he still is. In terms of what he's what he offers, no one offers what Salah does to a team at this moment in time, in terms of goals and assists.
00:16:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:16:27
Adarsh
And you take him out of the team, we're not the same. Regardless of if he has an off day, he still produces plenty of chances and scores plenty of goals. So I'm still, yeah, believing that he's the best player in the world at this moment time.
00:16:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I completely agree. Well, to me, it's him and Van Dijk. I know that's a little bit little bit of Liverpool bias in there, but I still think Van Dijk is absolutely up there, but doesn't get the same recognition because he's a defender.
00:16:43
Adarsh
Hmm.
00:16:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm just putting out there. All right. There was one more, ah two more awards, one of them not really to do with Liverpool. So we'll just quickly skim across it.
00:16:59
Adarsh
Thank you.
00:17:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Morgan Rodgers, Young Player of the Year. What's your reaction to that?
00:17:05
Adarsh
Yeah, we were talking a bit about this offline, but um out of the nominees, I i mean, there was Dean Hoyssen as well and Kirk Ayes. I think Dean Hoyssen gets it. if i This is just how I think it runs. If he still plays in the Premier League, I think he wins the award.
00:17:20
Adarsh
Purely because he plays for Real Madrid, I don't think that's why he's won it. Rodgers had a good season last season. Don't think he pulled up trees, but he is an exciting talent. So I can see why he's won it. um I would have gone for Dean Hoyssen, like you said, offline, um if he still plays in the Prem.
00:17:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, i've got I've got the nominees. So you got Rodgers, Nguyen Airey, Lewis Skelly, Kirkhares, Heysen, DeLapp.
00:17:43
Adarsh
Hmm.
00:17:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
to it i I'm sorry, Morgan Rodgers, I don't really think he's as good as Villa fans think he is. To me, to me he ah Morgan Gibbs-White is what Villa fans think Morgan Rogers is.
00:18:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
i know that's a crazy thing to say, but that's genuinely what I believe. ah To me, I think, honestly, Heysen and Kirkez are the two. Maybe Liam DeLapp as well. But I think those three are the... I think Dean Heysen still should have won it. I know he plays for Real Madrid now, but they could have done, you know, what they do at the Brit Awards when an American wins the award.
00:18:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
They'll get like a pre-recorded video. It's like, thank you so much for ah voting me. You know, it's a great honor. I'm sorry I couldn't be there. You know, one of those situations.
00:18:29
Adarsh
That is an amazing, amazing American accent, by the way.
00:18:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you. That three-year course in acting wasn't for nothing. Okay, finally, we'll have a look at the Premier League team of the year because there are a few Liverpool players

Premier League Team of the Year Discussion

00:18:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
in there. So you've got McAllister, Salah, Gravenberg and Virgil van Dijk as current Liverpool players.
00:18:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Kerkhez as a Liverpool player since the summer, but obviously it would have been for the Bournemouth season. And Alexander Isak, someone who very well could be a Liverpool player soon. So, Technically, we've got six players there, um which is more than half of the 11.
00:19:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fantastic. Well done, lads. We'll have a look through the team. I think Sells absolutely, completely deserves it.
00:19:14
Adarsh
but hundred so Yeah,
00:19:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Definitely the best, the most welcome surprise of last season was Nottingham Forest's defence, which is why I couldn't believe that there were no Nottingham Forest defenders in there, but Gabriel Saliba were.
00:19:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:19:29
Adarsh
and sure about that.
00:19:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
i'm not I'm not sure how I feel about that because I feel i feel like Murillo and Milenkovic were well within a shout. um But Milos Kerkheis left back, I think it's it it was a toss up with Kerkheis, maybe Ryan Iknori of Wolves, maybe Anthony Robinson of Fulham and Lewis Hall of Newcastle were all within shouts at the left back position.
00:19:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So Kerkheis wins that award. Do you think that's merited in comparison to the others?
00:20:03
Adarsh
Yeah, no, definitely. I think Kirk has, in terms of it being a second season in the Premier League, playing for a team in Bournemouth that aren't as established in the Premier League as other teams. And I think under Iriola, he really developed his game.
00:20:16
Adarsh
I definitely think he was worthy of being norman being part of the team of the year. um Just on Gabriel and Saliba, I completely agree with you. I think there should be a Nottingham Forest defender in there.
00:20:27
Adarsh
um And I would actually take out Saliba purely because I don't think, yes, he's a great player. I don't think he had the best season.
00:20:33
Adarsh
in terms of its sp and In terms of his standard or what he can do, i don't think he had the best season. So I'm taking, personally, I'll take Saliba and I'm putting Milenkovic, who I thought was outstanding last season.
00:20:33

but take it I'd take out both.
00:20:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
tell you what I'd do. I'd go for... Obviously, there's the back four there. I'd move Van Dijk into his normal position of centre-back. I'd put either Milenkovic or Murillo at centre-back.
00:20:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I'd put Ola Aina at right back because though he he was brilliant.
00:20:59
Adarsh
Oh, yeah, he was outstanding as well, actually, yeah.
00:21:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
you remember that game we had against Forest last season?
00:21:02
Adarsh
Hmm.
00:21:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
And i was just thinking, Ola Aina, he's just a Chelsea reject. He hasn't really proven himself in the Premier League. We'll be fine. ah Diaz or Gakpo, whoever was playing, we'll have him for breakfast.
00:21:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he really held his own. And that was the game that
00:21:18
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:21:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
we lost to Anfield. I mean, Forrest beating us at Anfield convincingly was crazy. And the, the biggest undeserved slot in this team, Declan Rice gets in, uh, probably cause he scored two free kicks against Real Madrid.
00:21:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Uh, he's in good company with McAllister and Gravenberg. Adash, Rice over Caicedo. What's going on there?
00:21:42
Adarsh
Yeah, that's the one. That is the one. um Bryce, great player, but didn I don't think he had the best season last season in terms of his quality for Arsenal. The fact that, what is one, two, three Arsenal players are in there and they didn't mount a title challenge, I think is a bit crazy. And I definitely agree with you. Kaiseido, for me, should be in that team of the year.
00:22:03
Adarsh
um I know a lot of Chelsea fans online have already been complaining about that.
00:22:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:22:07
Adarsh
I'm not the biggest fan Chelsea, so... But yeah, I think Kaiseido has to be in that with McAllister and Gravenberg, who obviously are shoe-ins. But um yeah, I don't think Declan Rice really lit up or pulled up any trees last season.
00:22:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:22:19
Adarsh
um So I'm um' with you. I think Kaiseido should be in that team of the year.
00:22:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
God, I hate giving Caicedo any plaudits.
00:22:25
Adarsh
Yeah, no, I know.
00:22:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's just, I don't like it.
00:22:27
Adarsh
That's exactly your point, yeah.
00:22:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Imagine if it was Caicedo and Lavia. Jeez. Would not say that um with the best praise. So finally, front three, Salah, Wood, Isak.

Salah's Future Performance and AFCON Challenges

00:22:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think that's pretty fair. I think they've got that one pretty spot on. I mean, maybe you could argue Mateus Cunha, ah for his incredible season with Wolves but Salah wins the PFA award for the third time in a row and obviously he won the golden boot last season final question for you do you think Salah reaches the same heights of last season or gets close
00:22:48
Adarsh
Yeah.
00:23:07
Adarsh
That is a big one. I think he gets close. And ah the reason I say he gets close is... the attacking firepower we've got this season. I think you've brought... if Well, that's assuming Isak is joining us as well. With Ekotike, who's been sensational since he's joined.
00:23:24
Adarsh
Florian Verts, I think, will take a bit of time to to really get in it. But when he's when he's on it, he will be on it.
00:23:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:23:30
Adarsh
Gakpo started the season on fire. Yad Kiesa to that. I think Salah will get... In terms of chances created for him, will get more chances. And obviously, he'll be creating more chances for those players who I think will take those chances.
00:23:42
Adarsh
So... I mean, he'll do incredible to get to that standard again this season. But I mean, the the amount of times you write off Mo Salah and he just proves you wrong, that's exactly why I'm not saying he won't reach those numbers like for this season.
00:23:56
Adarsh
But um I think he'll get close. And particularly in terms of assists, I think he'll get probably more assists this season, um given the role he's playing um for slot so far from what I've seen.

Impact of AFCON on Salah's Season

00:24:08
Adarsh
So, yeah.
00:24:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to throw a spanner in the works. Don't forget about AFCON, because that is coming.
00:24:12
Adarsh
oh Oh, yeah.
00:24:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
And hopefully they go out early. i'm i'm not i'm looking at their group, Egypt, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola. They're in that group.
00:24:21
Adarsh
um
00:24:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:24:22
Adarsh
Yeah, forgot about Afcon, actually. He used to make a very good point. I still think, you in fact in terms of the standard, he'll still get it.
00:24:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
What are we going to do?
00:24:30
Adarsh
Maybe not, the like, I don't think he'll reach the numbers, but, I mean, it's Mo Salah. I'm not going to write him off.
00:24:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, um let's just hope that my paternal country of South Africa completely hand just completely obliterate them and Zimbabwe pull off an upset and Gola finish the job.
00:24:47
Adarsh
Yeah, Salamat.
00:24:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
That would be nice, wouldn't it? ah So that's about everything that we have for today's episode. Thank you very much for joining us. Adash, great seeing you again, mate.
00:25:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's been quite a while.
00:25:04
Adarsh
Great to see you back.
00:25:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yes, ah we'll look. I'm not sure who's on tomorrow, but ah stay tuned. And thank you very much for joining us. Take care.
