00:01:13
RICK JAMES
Oh, getting better, getting better. Just a little, just a little cough and whatever, but I'll get up.
00:01:19
The SnowJobs Podcast

00:01:22
The SnowJobs Podcast
I still got a fever.
00:01:22
RICK JAMES
You've been down this week.
00:01:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
Fucking Steve Smythe got us fucking sick through the podcast computer.
00:01:26
RICK JAMES
I ah ah guess. Oh, well, we've got to blame somebody.
00:01:31
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's it. Both of us got us sick through the internet. That's pretty good.
00:01:36
RICK JAMES
I was with him, so he got me sick. So.
00:01:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. No, I know who it was. My, my wife and kids have been sick since before Christmas. They've just been trading it back and forth amongst each other. Like stay away from me.
00:01:47
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:01:49
The SnowJobs Podcast
But, uh, yeah, not, not, wasn't a great week.
00:01:49
RICK JAMES
Yeah, it is the season. It is the season.
00:01:54
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. Wasn't a great week. Had a fever since Sunday. So it's almost a full week of, uh, can't get the fever to break, but whatever. It's no steep.
00:02:03
RICK JAMES
Manna.
00:02:04
The SnowJobs Podcast
Just come and keep grinding.
00:02:06
RICK JAMES
Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
00:02:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
You getting anything out there?

Weather Forecast Skepticism

00:02:10
RICK JAMES
No, they're talking. They got snow on every day for the next week, like possibly inch tomorrow, which I don't. And then three quarters of an inch and then another three quarter and then another little over an inch, they're saying.
00:02:23
RICK JAMES
So we'll see.
00:02:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
They're calling for snow every day this week.
00:02:25
RICK JAMES
I'm sure it'll be.
00:02:31
RICK JAMES
Yeah, every day, but will it amount to anything? Fuck, I don't know. Probably not by a quarter inch.
00:02:38
The SnowJobs Podcast
think You push it.
00:02:39
RICK JAMES
we'll push it don't worry wolf we'll push it apparently why not let's burn these edges down no there's no such thing as a lock no no yeah i don't i don't believe the doctors
00:02:42
The SnowJobs Podcast
Um, well, I mean, did on any one of those forecasts for any day this week, did they tell you it was a lock?
00:02:52
The SnowJobs Podcast
No, no such thing as a lock. Are you sure? ah but Oh.
00:03:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Never gets old doctor.
00:03:09
RICK JAMES
It's never Nick even like that.
00:03:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
We.
00:03:12
RICK JAMES
There's even gave us credit on that one.
00:03:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, Nick did like it. Nick did like that one. We had. ah Yeah, I mean, if we're keeping score, all the weather guys missed on our ice the other night.
00:03:22
RICK JAMES
Oh yeah.
00:03:23
The SnowJobs Podcast
We went out and salted everything. They're like, Oh yeah, you're definitely getting like, whatever they said, a 10th of an inch of ice. And, you know, we woke, I said, let's pre-treat everything. We're good. And then I think it was supposed to start like 2 AM.
00:03:38
The SnowJobs Podcast
So set the alarm for one 30 dry pavement, two 30 dry pavement, three 30 dry pavement, all the way till nine 30. And by then it was above freezing and it was just rain.
00:03:52
The SnowJobs Podcast
So lost the lost that all that salt just washed away.
00:03:52
RICK JAMES
Oh, wow.
00:03:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
Waste of ah waste of material. But what are you going to do?
00:04:00
RICK JAMES
I think that I got to coat the Florida rains dry
00:04:04
The SnowJobs Podcast
It must have been something to it though, because they all, everybody, ah four different weather sources said the same thing. So it just, we got dry slotted.
00:04:12
RICK JAMES
slot.
00:04:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
The jet stream didn't cooperate and you know how the jet stream works, right?
00:04:13
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:04:16
RICK JAMES
Oh yeah. It goes up and down and all around.
00:04:34
RICK JAMES
ah yeah
00:04:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
Ah, these are the best, man. I still have Steve digging all these up.
00:04:39
RICK JAMES
yeah
00:04:41
The SnowJobs Podcast
I said, dude, anything to do with weather guys arguing, just get get me the sound bites.
00:04:44
RICK JAMES
Yes.
00:04:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's great.
00:04:47
RICK JAMES
Yes, I agree with that.
00:04:49
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, we got, uh, we have a busy week ahead of us. I mean, this is what Saturday night. So, uh, that we got an inch or two tomorrow night.
00:04:54
RICK JAMES
help
00:04:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
And then I think like three out of four nights this week, we have snow possible possible. We'll see. We'll see if it materializes.
00:05:07
RICK JAMES
No lock, no lock.
00:05:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
I have not heard the the term lock on any of it.
00:05:12
RICK JAMES
I will. Nick said that there's a lock. He'll appeal and send me a text. So I'll hold them to that.
00:05:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, stay by the phone.
00:05:19
RICK JAMES
I'm sure I'll, I'll have the phone by my ear.
00:05:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
Stay my stay by the
00:05:22
RICK JAMES
The phone will be by my ear, Nick. It's ready, ready for you to call me. Good buddy.

RICK JAMES
So.
00:05:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh, I apologize in advance if we have a couple seconds of dead air here and there. We're trying not to cough with the mic unmuted, but yeah, Nick, ah Nick did say Superbowl Sunday.
00:05:42
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:05:46
The SnowJobs Podcast
He did say that he's, he's kind of looking for, uh, for that one, you know, maybe a decent snow on Superbowl Sunday.
00:05:46
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:05:51
RICK JAMES
Oh, yeah.
00:05:53
The SnowJobs Podcast
So that would be good.
00:05:54
RICK JAMES
Yeah. Well, the push no or nothing else to do because Super Bowl is going to suck, so.
00:05:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go. Yeah. I don't need to see the chiefs and their refs play the Superbowl. Don't need to see it.
00:06:05
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:06:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
But anyway, so what are we doing tonight, bud? Anything interesting?
00:06:11
RICK JAMES
Well, I think we're going to talk to our good buddy, Billy Moore.
00:06:15
The SnowJobs Podcast
We have, we do have Billy Moore back snow jobs, favorite Billy Moore back in the house.
00:06:18

The SnowJobs Podcast
He's going to kick the ball around with us tonight.
00:06:20
RICK JAMES
He just needs to stop smoking. How about Billy?
00:06:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
He, he, he did just light up, didn't he?
00:06:27
RICK JAMES
He just lit up and stopped smoking.
00:06:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
Didn't he just talk to us about how health, he's all about his health and physical health and he wants to make it to 44 and all that stuff.
00:06:29
RICK JAMES
I can't believe Angela had some smoke.
00:06:36
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:06:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
He's getting married soon, you know, yeah all the, yeah, and then just light up a giant cigar.
00:06:38
RICK JAMES

00:06:44
RICK JAMES
Yeah. Yeah.
00:06:46
The SnowJobs Podcast
But Billy Moore of executive property maintenance of Michigan is here with us tonight. Uh, if you listened to Billy's initial episode, that was like I said, I think on our little talk about the first two seasons, that was probably my favorite as far as just laughing my ass off.
00:07:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, he caught kind of caught me off guard a little bit and that was a great episode.
00:07:02
RICK JAMES

00:07:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
So we love talking to Billy, wanted to check in with him, haven't talked to him in a while, see what he's up to.
00:07:10
RICK JAMES
Mm hmm.
00:07:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
Um, yeah.
00:07:11
RICK JAMES
Hopefully he opens up a little more this time. You know, he's a little tight, tight lip.
00:07:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
I know he's, we got to get him out of his shell. He's very reserved, very quiet.
00:07:16
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:07:17
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, he doesn't like to, uh, doesn't like to come out of the shell much, but no, no, he's not a feather Ruffler.
00:07:21
RICK JAMES
Doesn't like to raise ruffle feathers either. He's a.
00:07:26
The SnowJobs Podcast
So we'll, we'll work on it. We'll work on it. But, uh, yeah, before we get to Billy though, as always, let's hear from team Top Gun come back and we'll do a quick week in review.

00:10:34
The SnowJobs Podcast
And those, the full episodes are right around the corner. They should start dropping pretty soon. And we'll let everybody know when they're coming because it's going to be a big deal. Looking forward to it. What else do we have, brother?

RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:10:46
The SnowJobs Podcast
April 26, we'll be here before we know it. What is April 26? That is Stork Snow Alliance Day 2025. All right, last year's event was absolutely great. Jeremy and I were there, um had a great time. It is a fantastic event for hardcore snow guys after a hard winter, get together, learn a little bit, network a lot, see what's out there. They had a lot of vendors. They're going to have more vendors this year.
00:11:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
um I don't know what else you can say about it. I mean, last year's event was phenomenal. And Stork says they're going to top that again this year. So there yeah they are adding.
00:11:20
RICK JAMES
Yeah, pretzels, more Yes.
00:11:22
The SnowJobs Podcast
our What was our request? What was that? More pretzels, definitely. Gene will definitely. I'm sure we will have our own pretzel section. um But yeah, our only request last year was that they make it longer.
00:11:34
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like one day was not enough. So ah they actually listened. And they are adding a welcome party the night before on the 25th. for all attendees that's being sponsored by Case Construction Equipment.

00:12:16
RICK JAMES

00:12:17
The SnowJobs Podcast
But yeah, I know it's a fantastic day. Learning, networking, meeting other hardcore snow nuts like yourselves. ah It's just a serious snow guy's dream, really, to wrap up the winter ahead into the spring with that day.
00:12:30
The SnowJobs Podcast
And we will once again be in attendance and will most likely, I think, probably do another live. What do you what you want to do? And do another live show?

00:12:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
Do another live show.
00:12:41
RICK JAMES
Yep. That was fun.
00:12:42
The SnowJobs Podcast
So. Yeah. So make sure tickets will go on sale soon. They are not live yet. I think the, I think it's on the website, but they have not been released to go on sale yet. So we'll keep updating you on when that's going to happen. I would say in the next couple of weeks, they'll get them. I think maybe second, third week of February, they'll have them up there. So we'll keep you posted. What else brother snow jobs, nation store, as always open and stocked. And you can also get glacier sweatshirts on there or no.

00:15:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
I'm bringing it with me to my new house in Florida. It's a Ford F one 50 with a home plow and a tailgate spreader. And he's doing main roadways, main highways with it.
00:16:09
RICK JAMES
That was better than what what I've seen they were doing in Florida.
00:16:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:16:12
RICK JAMES
They had like a dickx dixie cup throwing salt off the back of my pickup. So.
00:16:15
The SnowJobs Podcast
I did see that one too. I saw the loader with the construction bucket just ah take digging up the blacktop. That was good.
00:16:23
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:16:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
Crazy man, but I guess you do what you got to do when, when it happens like that. But ah they have cold weather along with that.
00:16:29
RICK JAMES
I was pretty cold down there.
00:16:30
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like, I mean, was the snow not going to melt in an hour and a half? It was cold.
00:16:34
RICK JAMES
I thought I heard so. Yeah.
00:16:36
The SnowJobs Podcast

00:16:52
RICK JAMES
Yeah, We're all dirt bags.
00:16:54
The SnowJobs Podcast
Uh, Jeremy and I did the episode, their three year anniversary episode last week. Uh, that dropped yesterday, uh, Friday.

00:21:15
Billy
I did, it was a great time.
00:21:17
RICK JAMES
Hmm.
00:21:18
Billy
It was pretty exciting, planning it, a little stressful. Thank you to Delta.
00:21:22
RICK JAMES
Hmm.
00:21:23
Billy
Jesus, criminy. Them fucks, they, you know, will bring the bag. Let me just tell you the quick story.
00:21:31
The SnowJobs Podcast
Go ahead.
00:21:31
Billy
We're in a hurry.
00:21:31
RICK JAMES
Yeah, let's go.
00:21:32
Billy
I get to DTW. They have curbside bag check-in. I've never used it before, but like, hey, we'll take your Delta bags. They usually just take it to sky priority. We give it to them. Guy was kind of, uh, had his hand out, but I wasn't putting two and two together.
00:21:46
Billy
He's like, you're a service-based business.
00:21:46
The SnowJobs Podcast
Uh-huh.
00:21:48
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yup.
00:21:48
Billy
that's great, pal. I think you work for Delta, you know, you get paid, right? Walk away.
00:21:53
RICK JAMES
ye
00:21:53
Billy
One of my bags didn't make it. Not the one with the ring. No, that was in my backpack on my persons. So yeah, check that.
00:21:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
You don't check that. You don't check the ring.
00:22:03
Billy
So we get to LaGuardia missing my duffel bag that has my winter jacket in there because it was cold that night, the two nights.
00:22:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
ye
00:22:11
Billy
some boots, you know, so winter gear, phone charger, all that stuff. So they all, we forgot it's back in, back in Detroit. I'm like, Oh, that's great. Call them the next day. It was supposed to be there by nine o'clock.
00:22:22
Billy
Apparently in New York that people just don't show up to work. So that's what do they call it?
00:22:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. Yeah.
00:22:27
Billy
The courier decided not to work that day. So I said, man, then I called back again. I said, I have life altering drugs in that bag medication. I don't take medication, but I thought maybe that would expedite some,
00:22:40
Billy
I'm sorry, sir. If you can get it at CVS, we'll reimburse you. Okay. Fuck it Macy's. It is went to shopping spree and you know, got the things that we needed. But other than that, uh, the engagement went off, uh, the way exactly as a high plan.
00:22:54
The SnowJobs Podcast
Pay the sky cap.
00:22:56
Billy
Apparently. Well, you know, we don't have much of a winter, so I don't have much to tip.
00:23:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
00:23:02
RICK JAMES
now you know they're getting paid like you said everybody thinks
00:23:04
The SnowJobs Podcast
Well, that's good, man. I'm glad you guys survived New York. That's ah not always a given these days.
00:23:11
Billy
You know, I seem to be pretty lucky in New York.
00:23:12
RICK JAMES
well
00:23:13
Billy
So as when we first talked, you thought maybe I'd have been mugged three or four times by now.
00:23:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, I'm like, this this guy is, he's walking down this street taking pictures and posting them.
00:23:18
Billy
I've never.
00:23:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
I'm like, I got to tell him that's not the street you want to walk down and take pictures. Let everybody know you're a tourist.
00:23:27
Billy
That.
00:23:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
You're going to get mugged.
00:23:30
Billy
They're my homies right at the book.
00:23:31
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:23:32
RICK JAMES
Yeah, ah I would try it.
00:23:32
The SnowJobs Podcast
Well, there you go. Oh man. Only you, only you can get away with that. That's great. ah Congratulations.
00:23:40
Billy
Thank you.
00:23:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's it awesome.
00:23:40
Billy
Appreciate it.
00:23:42
RICK JAMES
Yup.
00:23:43
The SnowJobs Podcast
I tried to make it. I i was given the wrong time.
00:23:47
Billy
That's that's my fault because they gave me the wrong time
00:23:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
and
00:23:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
Could not get away longer than that, but yeah, i did I did manage to see everybody waiting for you there, so that was good. So I get credit for trying to attend.
00:23:59
Billy
no I appreciate it hot sauce
00:24:00
RICK JAMES
I won't. Oh. I wanted to be there. i was i was there was ah There was a talk of me coming, but that didn't work out either.
00:24:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
it was Yeah, there was and there was some there there was definitely talk.
00:24:08
RICK JAMES
ah
00:24:09
Billy
It was pretty exciting. i mean I'll tell you what, the the four the the six, seven months I was working with Rockefeller Center, with all the deep pockets that they have, um they believe in literally one person that handles everything.
00:24:21
Billy
and She doesn't have a dedicated email. She doesn't have a dedicated phone line. And when I needed the explanation to give these guys, you, know you Steve, and whatever, nobody knows what's going on.
00:24:34
Billy
You run real estate restaurants, the rink, the tours, NBC Studios, rock
00:24:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
They don't care. They don't care.
00:24:40
Billy
One person, one person.
00:24:41
The SnowJobs Podcast
That little, that little piece of ice makes like $30 million.
00:24:43
RICK JAMES
One person.
00:24:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
dollars It's ridiculous how much money they make with that.
00:24:46
Billy
probably I was like Sergey Fedorov out there.
00:24:49
RICK JAMES
Wow.
00:24:51
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. Jeremy was going, but he was going to tell her to say, no, that's weird.
00:24:54
RICK JAMES
Yeah. Well, I didn't want to, I didn't want to, I didn't want to distract, I didn't want to distract her from your billy.
00:24:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
fred Like, Oh, Jerry, you got to stay home. Yeah. ah
00:25:03
Billy
you
00:25:04
Billy
yeah
00:25:04
The SnowJobs Podcast
Rick James.
00:25:05
RICK JAMES
I know I'm terrible.
00:25:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh man.
00:25:07
RICK JAMES
I know I'm terrible.
00:25:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's great. Yeah. No, there was talk. There definitely was talk, but I'm like, dude, I'm working. So like, I mean, unless you're going to hang out with Anthony and Jordan, like I, I'm going to be there for hopefully like 25 minutes, half hour.
00:25:19
The SnowJobs Podcast
And then I got to get out of there. But, uh, yeah. And then I think you were, you, I thought you had snow in the forecast too.
00:25:26
RICK JAMES
Yeah, we did.
00:25:26
Billy
as
00:25:26
RICK JAMES
Yeah, no.
00:25:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
No, Jeremy, that's why he did. That's why he didn't. We were going to get, we were going to get him a flight out, but I think he had some snow coming. So, but it's awesome.
00:25:35
RICK JAMES
Yeah, big, big one.
00:25:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
I'm glad it went off without a hitch. Smart enough not to check the ring. That's good man there.
00:25:41
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:25:41
Billy
Yeah, yeah, I want work ready calling these you know
00:25:43
The SnowJobs Podcast
You would never see that.
00:25:46
Billy
the back end with Anthony and Mike Heinrich showed up, Jordan, his wife, my family.
00:25:49
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep. Saw them.
00:25:51
Billy
We had a nice ah dinner after and had a few few cocktails after and then, you know, good good times.
00:25:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah Good for you, dude. Wish you all the happiness.
00:26:01
Billy
Yeah.
00:26:02
The SnowJobs Podcast
You set a date yet?
00:26:03
Billy
August 9th.
00:26:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
August 9th, this August.
00:26:05
RICK JAMES
Nice.
00:26:06
Billy
Yeah.
00:26:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh, you don't want to ease into it.
00:26:08
RICK JAMES
Ah.
00:26:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
Maybe like be engaged for like three or four years.
00:26:11
RICK JAMES
Jesus.
00:26:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
See how it fits.
00:26:12
Billy
That's kind of what I was going for. I was thinking, let's see what 2030 brings.
00:26:16
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
00:26:17
Billy
Oh dear, li I'm getting the look.
00:26:19
RICK JAMES
I bet.
00:26:20
Billy
You know what's funny is that she prepared for this podcast with a snow job shirt.
00:26:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
but
00:26:22
RICK JAMES
I bet.
00:26:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
Okay.
00:26:25
RICK JAMES
Ah.
00:26:26
Billy
Even though you can't see her right now, she's wearing it proud.
00:26:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. There you go.
00:26:30
RICK JAMES
Ah, appreciate that.
00:26:31
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
00:26:31
Billy
Get plowed. Oh, I mean.
00:26:33
RICK JAMES
if um ah
00:26:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
I still have your backpack with your shirts, her shirts from, I think, equipped two years ago that you didn't show up for.
00:26:44
Billy
Really?
00:26:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, I still have the backpack.
00:26:45
RICK JAMES
Yeah,
00:26:46
Billy
You know I do have an address.
00:26:48
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah Yeah, well, that's a thing where you got to make the event to get the good stuff.
00:26:50
Billy
germany so Yeah well I got hats and stuff for you guys too and coffee mugs.
00:26:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
i I have an address too.
00:26:57
Billy
What kind of coffee mugs do you have?
00:26:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
I can play that too. I can play that game.
00:27:01
RICK JAMES
yeah
00:27:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
I got an address too.
00:27:01
RICK JAMES
send me your address. I'll send you some stuff, Billy.
00:27:03
The SnowJobs Podcast
Are you going, your Grand Rapids is kind of local for you, right?
00:27:06
Billy
It is.
00:27:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's not too far. So you're going to Simon this year?
00:27:09
Billy
Is this recorded?
00:27:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah Oh, you go to Simon with us.
00:27:12
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:27:12
Billy
but
00:27:13
RICK JAMES
it's
00:27:15
The SnowJobs Podcast
Go to Simon with us.
00:27:16
Billy
With you guys maybe but i I won't pay I Got booted so I know that's in my backyard that's like two and a half hours from us so Shit you know crash at my house Well
00:27:18
RICK JAMES
Yeah, yeah, well we might get kicked out too.
00:27:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:27:21
RICK JAMES
So don't worry about that. They'll like yeah Yeah
00:27:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:27:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
Cool. Well, yeah, we're going to, we're going to have a good time. We're definitely going to have a good time at that. But yeah, so what's new with, uh, what's new with Billy and executive man? How's things?
00:27:41
Billy
Well, you know, we're just a lot of the icing events. We're all in the action. ah We got a new yard space, which is a blessing. So consolidated three yard spaces into one, which is actually a mile from my house and a half a mile from my office. Beautiful facility. I love it. It it took a while to make it hours, if you will. You know how it's like, you think it's going to be easy and it's, jeez, oh fricking beats.
00:28:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh yeah.
00:28:10
Billy
moving things and you know I'm an organized kind of guy, like things to to to be neat and put away. So that's all done. And so that's that's the biggest thing that's been going on besides the engagement. Other than that, we've we prepared snow to death to salt every couple of days. So ah we made some operational changes, and which would probably be a liaison and what we want to talk about after.
00:28:39
Billy
ah We're comfortable where we're at. I mean, obviously I'll be yeah have nothing to hide. We didn't grow like we had thought we were going to this year. ah Cheap bidders, poor service.
00:28:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:28:51
Billy
I honestly thought by this time we would capitalize on ship bag service.
00:28:52
RICK JAMES
Yep.
00:28:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
No snow.
00:28:57
Billy
Apparently the customer just loves it because even these little one-inch storms or less I Drive around and I see everywhere. I put a bid down. I see trucks getting stock I see I mean stuck on one inch. I mean, I'm dead serious Matt from Clippers are plow, right? We talked about this all the time. It's like How do these people get away with this? These are high dollar corporations with literally the cheapest bidder? sites not service people are slipping and falling and yet I Honestly thought I'd be able to snatch these up I've even offered them free brine treatment.
00:29:28
Billy
We'll give you one for free just to show you how different we can be. We'll keep them the logistics moving how they they don't seem to care. So I don't know if it's the market we're in for this year or it was an election issue or people just don't want to spend money issue.
00:29:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
When you.
00:29:42
Billy
But the quality is definitely not there and either is the money. so
00:29:48
The SnowJobs Podcast
I think it's a combination of where the economy's been going for the last four years or five years and then.
00:29:52
Billy
Right.
00:29:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know it's a combination of well. Are we getting four more years of the economy going in the same direction like nobody was going to spend money this year until they you know saw something turn.
00:30:08
The SnowJobs Podcast
some indication that it was going to get better because it was, this was the hardest year.
00:30:10
Billy
Right.
00:30:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
I think everybody is saying the same thing. Like this year going into bid season was the hardest year to get anybody to part with money.
00:30:18
Billy
Tough.
00:30:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
new They were looking for every bottom dollar, not everybody, but places, places you wouldn't think we're looking to skimp on the one thing they shouldn't skimp on, which is no, you know, they, they were definitely trying that.
00:30:20
Billy
It's her.
00:30:27
Billy
A lot.
00:30:33
Billy
Correct.
00:30:35
RICK JAMES
Yeah. Oh yeah.
00:30:38
Billy
Which is interesting because, you know, like you said, you don't plant flowers this year or last year, whatever. That's not a safety issue. But for instance, in my my market, there's actually there's a handful of things that I've been asked to bid on.
00:30:51
Billy
And I don't even think they even, I got one place that i it's a 15 acre site, logistics, trucks, employees, office staff, sidewalks, you know, whole nine yards.
00:30:58
RICK JAMES
one
00:31:02
Billy
I don't think anybody services it. I think they're gambling.
00:31:05
Billy
Because that they reached out to me. I gave them the price. Never heard back from them again. I sent them a picture. I'm like, dude, you have a semi-stock.
00:31:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
wow
00:31:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
Wow.
00:31:12
Billy
That was on the one plowable event we had this year. Semis are stuck at the entrance. Would you like us to take care of this? No response, no response. So the last 20 salting events, nobody's ever been there to serve us.
00:31:25
Billy
I think they're just gambling that, well, if it's not going to snow, we don't have to pay.
00:31:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
Wow. That's a hell of a gamble.
00:31:32
Billy
It's a big company. It's not like a, you know, mom and top pop party store or a gas station. You know, they don't give a shit, but these are real businesses with real logistics and real staff, real customers.
00:31:39
RICK JAMES
Great.
00:31:43
Billy
Surprising.
00:31:44
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:31:44
Billy
That's all.
00:31:45
RICK JAMES
Let's...
00:31:45
Billy
Well, we're not exactly where we wanted to be, but we just do what we do and excel at what we have.
00:31:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:31:50
Billy
And I'm thankful for what we have a little bit less stress, I guess. And we'll, we'll rebuild, uh, or as every day that goes by.
00:31:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
Have you changed, uh, have you changed over to completely Brian or are you still granular too?
00:32:04
Billy
Granular to yeah Yeah, we're we're fine-tuning a little bit more of the the detail work But yeah, we're we want to go 70 30 by you know This figures this year too.
00:32:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
Okay. Have you increased the Brian operation at all since we last talked?
00:32:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
Good.
00:32:19
Billy
It's the perfect season for Brian Brian Brian and Brian some more Especially with rocks all you know, obviously we have a problem now that seems to be increasing in price adam But that's all we've had is just little
00:32:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah Yep.
00:32:24
RICK JAMES
No.
00:32:34
Billy
one-inch events or less Yeah So in the beginning, you know that what slowed us down a little bit is that moving shops Setting that up plugging it up learning the details of that property, you know moving socks
00:32:38
The SnowJobs Podcast
Jeez.
00:32:38
RICK JAMES
No.
00:32:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
And like, yeah. Cause last time we spoke to you, you were just starting with Brian. You were kind of testing and, uh, gotcha.
00:32:57
Billy
moving fucking socks.
00:32:57
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:32:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh yeah, absolutely.
00:32:58
RICK JAMES
yeah
00:32:59
Billy
So it's a blessing that we're done with it and we didn't kill each other afterwards, but you know, that happens. So, yeah.
00:33:08
The SnowJobs Podcast
Very cool. So yeah did you notice any other like trends with, with bidding and the contracts and the the structures that they were requesting and stuff this year, anything else out of the ordinary that you noticed out there, out your way, your way, Billy.
00:33:21
Billy
My way or Jeremy? My way, a lot of higher triggers.
00:33:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
Okay.
00:33:28
Billy
and So all the customers we have it's Whatever just take care of it What do you want to call it zero tolerance?
00:33:28
RICK JAMES
Really?
00:33:33
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:33:36
Billy
what What whatever you want to call it?
00:33:37
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:33:38
Billy
I mean snow is gonna came just take care of it So exactly I saw a lot of ah a lot of will salt ourselves kind of deal ah Which I don't participate in a lot of
00:33:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. and Unrealistic tolerance.
00:33:42
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:33:54
Billy
Higher triggers instead of two three four five.
00:33:54
RICK JAMES
oh
00:33:57
Billy
we I had one place. We only want you to come out when it's six inches Well, I don't want to mention the people because I still I actually buy product from them six inches a logistical company They don't have their own plow truck Six inches.
00:34:01
RICK JAMES
What?
00:34:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
um
00:34:12
Billy
What do you what are you guys doing dude, you know? but
00:34:16
RICK JAMES
How's that even thing?
00:34:16
The SnowJobs Podcast
Sick. You know what I think? I think too, when somebody does something like that and makes a statement like that, I don't think they realize what six inches of snow really is and what it's actually going to do to your site.
00:34:27
RICK JAMES
No.
00:34:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
If you actually have six inches down there untouched.
00:34:33
Billy
And it's not your fault.
00:34:33
RICK JAMES
Two instrumentals.
00:34:33
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like that's just ludicrous, six inches.
00:34:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
what are they What is it, a driveway? Like I've had driveways say, oh, we only want you guys for big storms. I've had that, but never had a commercial fucking or industrial.
00:34:42
RICK JAMES
No.
00:34:43
Billy
Yeah.
00:34:44
The SnowJobs Podcast
hill No, doesn't work.
00:34:45
RICK JAMES
That does not work. Even like a two and two inch minimum round, even these guys, that's one of like two inches is like, no, at least around here.
00:34:51
The SnowJobs Podcast
No.
00:34:52
RICK JAMES
And I know you guys warm up and stuff, but here we don't warm up. So you get that in, you get you get a three quarter, three quarter, three quarter. What does that do? Just stacks up and freezes and you have, you know, all this hard pack, but they don't really understand me and that shit, you know?
00:35:04
Billy
right
00:35:05
RICK JAMES
So it's like, yeah, I don't know.
00:35:06
Billy
Right We we want we want blacktop every night, you know, I don't want to stand up I don't play that shit.
00:35:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
Amen.
00:35:12
Billy
I don't have time for it ah There's no we'll call you when we need Saul after you know, we retain guys out. I just had this argument the other day and other People trying to save a couple dollars like oh you're you're over servicing us You know, you you salted on a Saturday you have a full shift on a Saturday you not care about these people like This is like last night.
00:35:30
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah
00:35:34
Billy
I like it before the so started. We had a little uh, a flash freeze event Just enough to make it kind of treacherous. Oh No, you you shouldn't be salty on centers.
00:35:45
Billy
I drove by there today after I left the office, you know full they have a full staff today What the fuck are you talking about?
00:35:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep.
00:35:52
Billy
You don't care about your people? Because he wasn't there, he doesn't care apparently.
00:35:55
The SnowJobs Podcast
Hmm.
00:35:58
Billy
but
00:35:58
RICK JAMES
So a lot of managers and stuff, you know, they, they get a kickback, they don't spend all their money, you know, that's, you know, they don't spend this money on their snow or whatever, you know, they get a bonus, how much money they save.
00:35:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
No, that's funny.
00:36:04
Billy
But... Right, exactly.
00:36:12
RICK JAMES
So, so they're gonna, they're gonna stretch it.
00:36:12
Billy
Right.
00:36:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's ridiculous that
00:36:15
RICK JAMES
They're gonna stretch it as far as they can sometimes. So.
00:36:19
Billy
and We did see a There I did pick up some pretty good decent work guy had literally November 18 rated just getting into the season Called all his customers and basically set him out Stiffed everybody you've had these properties even in state just left everybody high and dry ah Picked up the pieces and that that turned into some good stuff too little long-term contracts.
00:36:44
Billy
ah So we were pretty happy about that just a Just a shitbag way of doing things, you know instead of giving somebody notice or you knew you knew it wasn't today that you're just gonna say good night You knew it six months ago.
00:36:57
Billy
I mean if you have a P and&L or whatever, however, you do your financial somebody says
00:36:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:36:57
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:37:02
Billy
um So ass and then he basically said Steve let me fuck you. I'm done Right
00:37:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. You wonder, was he hanging in there hoping for one early season event that would get him into the next month and you know, maybe keep the, uh, keep the flat line from committing. But yeah, do we, uh, we've had it here. We've, I was telling you before the show, we had two so far this year that just,
00:37:26
The SnowJobs Podcast
stopped. They're like, yeah, they just never showed up. They stopped showing up. And then they basically turned off their phones and stuff like, you can't get ahold of them.
00:37:33
Billy
no
00:37:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like, what the hell? I'm like, who does this?
00:37:39
Billy
That's why I'll just have a professional.
00:37:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like, they just, yeah, they folded up and they didn't bother to tell the sites. And that was it. I mean, we'll service them. We'll take care of it.
00:37:49
Billy
Absolutely.
00:37:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. Not going to be cheap, but you know, we'll take care of it. And at that point,
00:37:53
RICK JAMES
Mm hmm.
00:37:55
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's got to be done. So, but yeah, it's happening everywhere, dude. It's not just, not just out there. It's happened here. It's a, we've heard, we've heard it time and time again. So it's, uh, I don't know.
00:38:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
You think it's, uh, I think it's like the end of the COVID money era or guys just maybe spent too much and overextended more.
00:38:16
Billy
absolutely Absolutely I think that I was actually hoping that's what I was talking to Matt about is I was really hoping that we'd have a year to separate men from boys where People like him and I can send a real iron out and recover sites that you know two back-to-backs that exhaust people that you know are truck loading or truck blowing things that Obviously we could run you know
00:38:18
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:38:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
How old?
00:38:27
RICK JAMES
Yep.
00:38:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
Absolutely.
00:38:33
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep.
00:38:42
Billy
Real iron at obviously that has not happened, but we're in February, you know 0.7 inch tomorrow guys six So you better believe all the 930 cats are moving to plow that shit at 35 degrees tomorrow so we have a window of 2.4 hours to plow all these sites before it mounts by noon
00:38:43
The SnowJobs Podcast
Well, it ain't over yet.
00:38:44
RICK JAMES
Yep.
00:38:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, I was going to say.
00:38:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
How much? Listen back.
00:38:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
that
00:38:58
RICK JAMES
yeah yeah
00:39:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Listen, if you believe all that weather guy jet stream stuff, did you see the snow pack map that they put out for the month of February? How much snow was going to be in each location in the country?
00:39:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like it's pretty frigging active.
00:39:20
Billy
Is it? Is it done out of crane?
00:39:20
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:39:21
The SnowJobs Podcast
So, I mean, you yeah, you guys got, you guys got some stuff coming.
00:39:23
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:39:25
RICK JAMES
Oh god. But if it doesn't come this week, it'll be the next week.
00:39:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
What happened?
00:39:30
RICK JAMES
They'll just keep pushing it back the next week.
00:39:30
The SnowJobs Podcast
Next week. Yeah. Oh, absolutely.
00:39:32
RICK JAMES
The next week.
00:39:32
The SnowJobs Podcast
Just, just stay tuned.
00:39:33
RICK JAMES
No, it's it's next week. and It's good.
00:39:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
Stay tuned.
00:39:35
RICK JAMES
The patterns are going to really pick up next week. Oh, wait. No, it's the next week.
00:39:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:39:40
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:39:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
They're like that, that finale episode that never ends. Just stay tuned next week.
00:39:46
RICK JAMES
Yeah, it's coming.
00:39:46
Billy
Let's say in a big event by Father's Day,
00:39:46
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's it.
00:39:49
The SnowJobs Podcast
My father's day. Okay. That's great.
00:39:52
RICK JAMES
ah
00:39:52
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh man. I think, uh, I don't think you're done yet. I think you, uh, I mean, shit, what is it? February 1st.
00:39:59
Billy
oh but No, but we're not done. I mean I i think you know like I agree I think there's still winter to go which you know we utilize we utilize these weeks though You know we've had a week to ten days.
00:40:06
RICK JAMES
oh yeah
00:40:11
Billy
Oh, you know a little long the action obviously we had some action last night We're utilizing it to stay productive guys that want to come into I mean we're detailing We're doing the minor repairs that kind of get missed or maintenance and they're putting up another salt structure I mean so we have things to do
00:40:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:40:26
RICK JAMES
Oh, yeah.
00:40:27
Billy
ah
00:40:28
RICK JAMES
yeah
00:40:28
Billy
But you know, it'll ramp back up.
00:40:31
The SnowJobs Podcast
It will. You know, it's interesting. I was looking at this the today, uh, today or yesterday, I was looking at it. Nobody that normally gets these big massive storms, like 20 inches, 18 inches plus.
00:40:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
Nobody's gotten one yet this year. Like we haven't had a nor'easter, the nor like, uh, main, I think the most anybody's had was like 10 inches. Like nobody, I don't, I don't remember hearing,
00:40:56
RICK JAMES
no <unk> carbon ah's got some big
00:40:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
Well, Buffalo's got lake effect. I'm talking non-lake effect, which, you know, you I said the ones that normally get the big stuff, not lake effect.
00:41:02
RICK JAMES
I'm just being correct here. I'm just being.
00:41:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's lake effect is unpredictable. You get 60 inches in an hour and a half. Like I'm talking nor'easters, big snow storms, big clippers.
00:41:16
RICK JAMES
well
00:41:19
The SnowJobs Podcast
Nobody's gotten them. They're just, they haven't happened. Like Nick was saying yesterday on the phone that he thinks we could go through the whole winter this year without a nor'easter.
00:41:26
RICK JAMES
Well... Yeah, he did say that.
00:41:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
And I'm like, I don't think so. I just, we're always good for at least one, but you he, I don't know if he hit it with a lock, but I think he's, I think we're good for one.
00:41:34
RICK JAMES
Did he lock it? Did he guarantee it? Oh.
00:41:42
RICK JAMES
the Yeah.
00:41:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
I think we're, we're, they're just too prevalent, but I don't know. Maybe he sees something I don't, but yeah, it's interesting. A lot of little stuff. Everybody's getting little stuff. If it's not lake effect, it's little.
00:41:57
Billy
Well, I'm happy with little stuff, too. So, oh I mean, you the week before this, I think we de-iced 14 to 15 times in 20 days, less than 20 days.
00:42:00
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's billable.
00:42:01
RICK JAMES
yeah
00:42:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
00:42:13
Billy
That's not bad. I mean, oh,
00:42:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
Think about how much money you saved in hydraulic fluid and hoses. Hey, you've only plowed once.
00:42:18
Billy
yeah, for sure.
00:42:21
RICK JAMES
I think we've, I think we've salted like 26 times.
00:42:22
Billy
Oh, they're clean.
00:42:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
They're dry rotting.
00:42:26
RICK JAMES
I don't know.
00:42:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah
00:42:28
RICK JAMES
The dry road.
00:42:29
Billy
Yeah, we fire them up just to run them like like classic cars now.
00:42:33
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
00:42:34
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:42:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
Wipe him down.
00:42:35
Billy
Wipe them down. We've cleaned it three times, sir.
00:42:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh, man. you Are you polishing rims yet? That's that's usually Jeremy's indicator that he's on his last legs with no snow.
00:42:46
Billy
Yeah, we're polishing them up. The power washed them again. you know The metal pluses are now, you know they're not yellow anymore because we've washed them so much in the last four days. They look nice sitting there, though.
00:42:46
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:42:57
RICK JAMES
Yeah. They do. They look nice.
00:43:00
Billy
Very nice.
00:43:02
The SnowJobs Podcast
Dude, I don't.
00:43:02
Billy
I think about a switch and go truck just to keep adding different little revenue streams for dumpster services.
00:43:02
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:43:09
Billy
Little people people that want to do a building clean out or a garage clean out. Little do it yourselfers. you know We'll drop the dumpster off. you know Just something something to add to the revenue stream.

Defining Success and Industry Challenges

00:43:20
RICK JAMES
Are you doing that?
00:43:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:43:21
Billy
Yeah, absolutely.
00:43:21
RICK JAMES
You did or?
00:43:23
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:43:24
RICK JAMES
Cool. I thought a lot of guys are going to do that.
00:43:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
00:43:26
Billy
Yeah.
00:43:26
The SnowJobs Podcast
no
00:43:26
RICK JAMES
you know
00:43:28
Billy
That's perfect. If it's in a driveway, you know, do-it-yourselfers want to clean out their garage, throw the dumpster wall without $2 million.
00:43:38
The SnowJobs Podcast
to Two, $2 million.
00:43:39
RICK JAMES
$2,000,000.
00:43:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
dollars ah Oh man.
00:43:41
Billy
Do you need to rent a loader?
00:43:42
RICK JAMES
and
00:43:45
RICK JAMES
Yeah. Why don't you just bring the bucket over, fill the bucket and I'll just drive it to the, to the landfill.
00:43:48
Billy
Yeah, fill the bucket. Be like Menards, anything you get fit in a bag, 11% off.
00:43:56
RICK JAMES
There you go.
00:43:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
So it was pretty much status quo for you out there this year, Billy, right?
00:44:00
Billy
Pretty much.
00:44:02
The SnowJobs Podcast
Nothing, nothing new. Did you ever get that loader that was, uh, you were waiting for a loader to come and did it ever come?
00:44:07
Billy
It came.
00:44:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
It finally came.
00:44:09
Billy
It finally came.
00:44:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
Wow.
00:44:11
RICK JAMES
The bill bill came first, but then the lower K one and a half.
00:44:14
Billy
Yeah, exactly.
00:44:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
What was it?
00:44:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
a Was it a year late?
00:44:17
Billy
It was close.
00:44:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
was close Oh my God.
00:44:19
Billy
and We put it this way, we plowed with it one and a half times. So to my dismay, it's one and a half. Because by the time I got it in April, we had a late April storm that was melting by the end of the day.
00:44:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
But.
00:44:30
RICK JAMES
Oh. all
00:44:34
Billy
And my operator was like, man, I really want to try it. We used it for half the event. And then we used it a couple of weeks ago for that pushable event. So that's a nice machine. Caterpillar spent a lot of money on fixing the problem.
00:44:48
Billy
A lot.
00:44:49
The SnowJobs Podcast
the I bet the bill was on time.
00:44:52
Billy
Oh, yeah.
00:44:54
RICK JAMES
ah
00:44:54
Billy
but they they took care of it. They they made her made it right.
00:44:58
Billy
My salesman's great.
00:44:58
RICK JAMES
What but but size but size was it again?
00:44:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
good
00:45:00
Billy
Cat was great. What is it? 930.
00:45:03
RICK JAMES
I'll get it.
00:45:05
Billy
It just never came equipped with anything. Didn't have a steering wheel, no wheels, I mean.
00:45:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
No loader arms.
00:45:11
Billy
hard you understand
00:45:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
It was an engine. Engine rims.
00:45:15
Billy
fuck deep like what The fuck do you get this piece of shit? but mean Where's where's like the door? Don't even shut you guys you're fucking kidding me, right? I said the guy that just dropped it off You need to call him and tell him to pick it back up cuz it don't work We couldn't even hook a plow to it.
00:45:29
Billy
There's no like electrical. There's no hydraulic. It wasn't plumb for anything And apparently somebody mislabeled this one. and I don't know what the deal was. They made it right He's always made it right and they caterpillar made it right Michigan cat.
00:45:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
cheese
00:45:41
Billy
So well, I'm gonna fall
00:45:42
The SnowJobs Podcast
um That's great. That's good to hear, man.
00:45:45
Billy
so yeah absolutely
00:45:45
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
00:45:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
Very good. At least they took care of it.
00:45:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
Man. So Billy, like I want to get into something here. You know, we got you, you, you kind of, you know, we want you to come out of your shell, out of your cocoon, you know, uh, but like, what, how do you define your success? Like what, what, what makes you consider executive successful? You know, how do you define success for Billy Moore?
00:46:14
Billy
Well, that's a good question. um I take about 42 prepaid self-help classes to tell me what my success is. And then we'll sit down and we'll discuss that at a later date.
00:46:23
RICK JAMES
ah
00:46:26
Billy
No, actually, you know and but this is 20 years. What did I say? it's so Last September it was 20 years in business. And you know the first five or six was just establishing you know getting your dick wet, if you will.
00:46:41
Billy
I didn't know what I was doing. Let's just call it that, right? Then you start honing in on your craft, what you're good at, what you don't want to work with, blah, blah, blah. So I would say my success is, and I, and I said this in a speech, uh, at a banquet literally in December about my, the 20 year anniversary.
00:46:57
Billy
You got it. Congratulations.
00:47:00
Billy
How I define my success was the relationships that I built in 20 years along the road.
00:47:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Okay.
00:47:07
Billy
The money comes and goes. I think we all can agree with that.
00:47:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yup.
00:47:10
Billy
I invest, that's all great. i've I've got to do a lot of things that most people don't do. I consider that successful. I don't measure it by dollars. I guess maybe when I was 21, I would. But that is the dumbest way to look at it because yeah, that's important. But the relationships that I built, the friends that I feel that respect me except for the two you know that I'm looking at right now, ah I'm just kidding. what ah But you you got to figure 20 years, how many people have you made friends with?
00:47:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh, sure.
00:47:39
Billy
Had your back in the middle of the night and like I said, my buddy Steve that works at cat, like we became extremely close, best friends. How do you build those relationships without success by doing the right thing, showing up to work?
00:47:52
Billy
And so that's the biggest part of the definition of my success is the the relationships that I built andre andation and the reputation the reputation.
00:47:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's awesome. i That's a good answer. And what? Yeah.
00:48:03
Billy
um we Have a solid reputation people like us. I mean they respect what we do on the landscape side of things the green side of things the white side of things Yeah, um I was honest. I'm going to tell you that things didn't go exactly the way that I thought they would go this year For the snow growth we had planned for it.
00:48:19
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep.
00:48:19
Billy
We had said this is what we're doing We had the opportunities and I'm gonna be honest. I got kicked to the curb on I apparently I didn't race to the bottom on pricing hopefully next year those that'll fail and I But if I looked at that as a success, then I guess I would have just called myself a failure this year, right?
00:48:32
The SnowJobs Podcast
Need some good snow.
00:48:37
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. Well, I mean, and that's no good.
00:48:37
Billy
but that was decided to do I mean to cut you off, but the last thing I was going to say is what we decided to do was hone in even better on what we do with what we have, do it more lean.
00:48:52
Billy
I mean, we're running lean for a reason, right? Everybody's trying to save a dollar, preparing for a failure or the next opportunity, which is coming.
00:48:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
Sure.
00:49:00
Billy
You know, it will. I'm happy. I'm less stressed. I have a wonderful woman. I have a home. I have a great dog. I have good friends. I'm 10 o'clock on a Saturday night, and I'm hanging out with you guys.
00:49:13
Billy
That's successful to me. I have good health, at least I think. So yeah, before the cigar.
00:49:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
Before the cigar.
00:49:24
Billy
Is there five minute intervals for cigar breaks? No, I'm just kidding.
00:49:26
The SnowJobs Podcast
but ah I agree.
00:49:27
RICK JAMES
but Yeah.
00:49:28
Billy
So that's what I define as success, relationships and your personal goals. I can't tell Jeremy what his goals are. Honestly, I watch your videos. I'm kind of jealous of some of your glacier, right? I'm just kidding. I knew that, but like I'm jealous of your videos. They're so sharp and sweet. And I'm sitting there trying to do this tick tock shit like you do. I mean, Angela, I mean, she's just, well, you're doing this wrong and this wrong in hell, but We're different.
00:49:54
Billy
Your goals are your goals. My goals are my goals. Your goals are your goals. And if I'm meeting my goals, that's successful, right?
00:50:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah
00:50:01
Billy
Well, two years ago, I was 240 pounds from the winter, right?
00:50:01
RICK JAMES
Right.
00:50:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:50:04
Billy
I set a goal. You know what I said? I just don't want to be this heavy anymore. I didn't say I wanted to be 190 and, you know, have, you know, massive muscles. I just wanted to get healthy.
00:50:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:50:15
Billy
I was successful.
00:50:17
The SnowJobs Podcast
I agree. but You know, the reason I brought that up is like you're in your forties now, right, Bill?
00:50:22
Billy
Yeah. 42.
00:50:23
The SnowJobs Podcast
All right, so we're we're all in our 40s. Jeremy's actually about to be out of his 40s. But ah you know i'm still I still got a year in in the 40s. So I'm a little disturbed lately. In the last month, I've had two two or three conversations with guys in their 20s that are in snow and landscaping.
00:50:44
The SnowJobs Podcast
And the the trend that I keep hearing from them is, well, I'm doing okay, but I'm not successful yet because I didn't hit X revenue yet.
00:50:55
The SnowJobs Podcast
or I didn't get, I'm not successful because I don't have 10 machines yet. yeah I only have two trucks or three trucks. um and and that like That bothers me when I hear young guys that are starting up and they've taken three or four years, five years maybe, and they've they've expanded, they've grown, they've grown responsibly, they're successful. They're they're doing it successfully. theyve All their bills are paid.
00:51:23
The SnowJobs Podcast
They pay themselves a salary, which most, let's face it, most small business owners, when they're starting out, you're not making enough money to pay yourself well, if at all, because every dollar is going back into the business to keep it going until you're a certain, you know, certain point.
00:51:32
Billy
Right.
00:51:38
The SnowJobs Podcast
We all know how that goes. but these guys like I'm scared with the trends of the younger guys that are super they all seem to have the same things in common they're super into these like you put it self-help gurus and business gurus um that they're these motivational speaker types not there's any there's nothing wrong with increasing your knowledge base hearing what all these guys have to say etc you know but
00:51:51
RICK JAMES
Right. Yep.
00:52:04
The SnowJobs Podcast
My advice is to be very careful about letting somebody else define what success is for you. Like, I just don't get that where who's putting a dollar amount? Who told you you had to hit one million in revenue for you to be successful with your business?
00:52:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
like I don't get that where where these kids are getting this from. ah you know it's just It's starting to bother me because I think it's a and think it's a slippery slope for them because they it's ah it's a podcast generation. they go like We would go to the internet and encyclopedias back then to look shit up. you know When we were little kids,
00:52:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
They go to podcasts for information to learn and to grow. And they're hearing people say you constantly have to grow. You constantly have to scale. You have to hit that next level or you're not successful. And I think these guys are taking it to heart too much. What do you guys think about that?
00:53:00
RICK JAMES
Oh, it's a hundred percent. Like you said, it's it's a social media world where everybody looks at all the flashy, cool things on um Instagram, Facebook, whatever your TikTok, whatever, yeah you know, and we all put good shit on there.
00:53:13
RICK JAMES
We don't really, there isn't that many people put the bad shit on there. I mean, i I'll put bad shit on there here and there because that's part of life, but everybody wants to put the flashy shit on and make everything look good.
00:53:16
The SnowJobs Podcast
No.
00:53:22
RICK JAMES
And that's great for your business wise, but not everything's ah Not, not even things that 20 second real where everything looks great. No, there's a lot of shit that goes beyond that, that people don't really, really see all this shit that built up to that.
00:53:30
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:53:35
RICK JAMES
I've had numerous, I'm like, say, I don't own glacier. i I just run the operation here. And, but it's, everybody's like, Oh, I want to be just like you. I'm like, Don started off with a pickup and a skidster.
00:53:47
RICK JAMES
That's what we started with.
00:53:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep.
00:53:48
RICK JAMES
It's just 25 years of growing this place. it It didn't happen overnight. This, and yeah, yeah.
00:53:52
The SnowJobs Podcast
Responsibly making a lot of right decisions along the way.
00:53:55
RICK JAMES
Yeah. And they're like, well, you want to, we want to be like, I'm like, well, you, anybody can be like this if you want to do it, but you it's it's not going to happen overnight. It's it's, you know, he's got to grow and grow responsible. And I don't know, but nobody's patient anymore.
00:54:08
RICK JAMES
No, it's everybody wants everything to happen tomorrow.
00:54:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
Exactly.
00:54:11
RICK JAMES
Everything should just.
00:54:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
And there's nothing wrong with having that dream as long as it's actually your dream and not not a dream put in your head by somebody else that's, let's face it, none of these motivational guys would, if if they were telling you, hey, ah Billy Moore, you're doing just fine on your own.
00:54:17
RICK JAMES
Right.
00:54:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
You do not need to subscribe to my shit. You know, would would you listen to them if it does?
00:54:34
Billy
right
00:54:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
you're You're successful on your own. You do not need me. I can't help you. You know, don't subscribe. No, they're going to tell you, Billy, you should be you should be growing by 50 percent. Your snow operation next year.
00:54:44
Billy
Right.
00:54:46
The SnowJobs Podcast
Here's how to do it. Like it's just dangerous. Like Jeremy said, it it's a social media world. and Instagram is Hollywood. it's It's Hollywood. It's movies. It's entertainment. It's not a lot of it's not real.
00:54:58
Billy
Well that's that's what happens when you fluff things up.
00:54:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know what I mean?
00:55:02
Billy
You know, and we've seen it, you know, I, what would you say in the last, I would say the really prevalent in the last eight, nine years.
00:55:02
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
00:55:09
Billy
Obviously I grew up in a different era. We didn't have cell phones with internet and all this stuff.
00:55:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah
00:55:14
Billy
It becomes this very dangerous slope is when you don't meet said goals and then all of a sudden you're a fucking failure Now we've all let's just be honest.
00:55:22
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yes.
00:55:24
Billy
We are probably all felt like oh man I didn't achieve exactly what I wanted to achieve But you know what I'll tell you my self-help was like I told you in the pre-show or whatever I go to church Maybe I'm not the best Christian in the world, but I do am devout into some kind of faith Boy, that's the best self-help you can get and you start to believe in a different level of whatever it is that you believe in.
00:55:46
Billy
Maybe it's not that, and that's what I'm saying just for me, but I define that. And what my family needs or what I need for myself, and that's what I would consider so successful.
00:55:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah
00:55:56
Billy
Are we paying the guys good? Do we feel that they're taken care of? are Do we have a happy household here and you know things are being taken care of here? That's successful to me.
00:56:05
Billy
But when you start when you start painting painting these pictures, of the opulence, which the internet does, and then it creates this idolization of a false prophet, if you will.
00:56:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
hundred percent
00:56:17
The SnowJobs Podcast
A little bit, a little bit rails off.
00:56:17
Billy
And it doesn't matter what the false prophet could be. It just seems, I know it sounds like a church seminar, right? I'm getting prepared for tomorrow's service, actually.
00:56:27
Billy
But the point, you know, it becomes a slippery slope, because what happens when you fail? You're, you know, Steve, you got to grow 50% next year, and you don't do it. I mean, I truly believe young people cannot deal with failure the way that we deal with failure
00:56:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
no
00:56:40
RICK JAMES
Oh.
00:56:41
The SnowJobs Podcast
Well, and they can't because they can't make the distinction. And I'm not saying all of them, but I find very God, it's very prevalent that they cannot distinguish failing with being a failure.
00:56:53
The SnowJobs Podcast
Just because you fail at something does not mean you're a failure. You failed at something, pick yourself back up, try it again a different way.
00:57:02
Billy
absolutely
00:57:02
The SnowJobs Podcast
But it doesn't mean you're a total failure because you failed at one aspect.
00:57:04
RICK JAMES
yeah
00:57:07
Billy
Absolutely.
00:57:07
RICK JAMES
Failures just make you they should make you stronger. They should make you better Everybody if that's how you fail then you'll learn from it if you learn from it and then that's you're getting better No one's gonna be perfect Obviously, but these people all these guys think they should be but if you talk to anybody if if you fail you learn from your failure and you move forward, but I
00:57:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
It should 100%.
00:57:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yup.
00:57:27
RICK JAMES
Like I say, these guys, they a lot this lot of these younger guys, have theyre they're in their participation. They grew up in participation you know era where everybody got a ribbon or a trophy because, hey, you showed up today.
00:57:38
RICK JAMES
Here you go. That's that's not how the real world works.
00:57:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
and i' And we're not talking on the younger guys. We're just trying to help here because like I said, these are conversations I've had with a couple of younger guys recently and it kind of bothered me because they're both doing awesome. there's There's no reason for them to feel like they're not successful. And I was trying to get to the root of the problem. And like the one thing I asked the one guy, I said, dude, can you pay all your, you started this at 21, you're 25. Can you pay all your bills? He goes, yeah, all my bills are paid. I'm like, do you pay yourself a great salary? He says, yeah, I do.
00:58:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
Do you have a good company structure? You know your fiscal planning is that sound? Yeah. Are your people at work? You know, are they happy? You know, are you making their lives better? He goes my guys are very happy. I pay him. Well, okay. Great. What's your stress level? manageable Like all right, though, you know, are you home with your family enough? Yeah. Yeah, I have plenty time How the fuck are you not considering yourself successful just because you didn't hit a revenue goal? You know that that bothers the shit out of me Like if you're paying yourself a good salary, everything else is taken care of, and you're on your way, just because you missed that goal, yeah it it bothers me when guys are saying that, oh, I'm not successful because I didn't i didn't hit that revenue goal. Who set that goal?
00:58:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
Who set it for you?
00:58:57
Billy
That's the problem.
00:58:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
well was it Exactly, was it even realistic?
00:58:57
Billy
Somebody else is stepping the goal.
00:59:01
RICK JAMES
Right.
00:59:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
Are you trying to set a $2 million dollar revenue goal for a three-year-old company in a market that you would literally have to get every fucking commercial property in a 10-mile radius to achieve that?
00:59:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah like it did that who's Who's setting these goals for you?
00:59:15
RICK JAMES
Right.
00:59:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
And that that was my question to him. like Where did you come up with that number? And he's like, well, you know, I was, I was listening to this. I was listening. I was like, stop listening. You're doing just fucking fine. You started a business at 21. You're 25. You're doing great. You've grown every year sustainably.
00:59:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, it just, it really like it got to me. Like I, that's why, that's the only reason why I wanted to get into that tonight a little bit, you know, because hopefully it'll help some guys that are feeling like maybe I didn't hit, I didn't hit this unrealistic goal that somebody else might've planted in my head that I needed to get or the next level that I was supposed to be at because it bothers me.
00:59:56
RICK JAMES
like a parent they compare themselves to somebody else in a completely different market making completely different margins everything you know i've I've been asked so many times what do you do what are we making here what are you making there for this or that I'm like it doesn't matter what we're making here what are what we're doing out here isn't what you do in Michigan or New York or what you what you guys are getting
00:59:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
These, these younger guys that have done great, they're getting down on themselves because they, they think they need to be somewhere else. Well,
01:00:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yes. That's one point.
01:00:20
Billy
Absolutely.
01:00:21
RICK JAMES
It's completely different. It doesn't matter. I mean, I've had so many people ask me, what are you getting for all around this? It doesn't matter. We're not even in the cold.
01:00:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
does not matter.
01:00:29
RICK JAMES
We're not even in the same market. Every market is different.
01:00:31
The SnowJobs Podcast
No.
01:00:32
RICK JAMES
I mean, between here and Minneapolis is different. I mean, yeah.
01:00:34
The SnowJobs Podcast
What do we get? We get more for, we get more for a skid here than you get for a full-size loader out there, right?
01:00:39
RICK JAMES
Well, yeah, a lot more.
01:00:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:00:40
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
01:00:41
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:00:41
RICK JAMES
yeah I mean, yeah.
01:00:41
The SnowJobs Podcast
So it's like, you can't compare that. It's not apples to apples. And that's, that's what I'm talking about.
01:00:46
RICK JAMES
Should we we be getting that?
01:00:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
Don't you should, but your market tolerance is not that.
01:00:47
RICK JAMES
Yeah, we should be, but we're not. Yeah.
01:00:52
RICK JAMES
Great.
01:00:53
The SnowJobs Podcast
that and That's what I'm saying. like These guys, like you said, Jeremy, that's perfect. like you're you're looking at You're looking at an image of somebody else, you have to adjust that image realistically to where it can work in your space, wherever you are, whatever your market tolerance is, you know what whatever your abilities are. and some guys Some guys just aren't good at selling.
01:01:15
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, that that's that's a big thing too. When you get that meeting and you just can't you can't sell it, you can't bring it home. You can't close.
01:01:23
Billy
Well, I'll be honest like I wouldn't say I I failed but like going into the snow season this year i I Literally, I would say for 20, you know 19 of these years.
01:01:33
Billy
I could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves I mean that's this year
01:01:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
01:01:40
Billy
Didn't go as well as I thought. we We capitalized on some that I told you about the business owner. We capitalized on that. But we're like, back to again, we go back to the drawing board. Let's do what we do well.
01:01:51
Billy
We'll maintain sustainability. We just didn't scale north this year. And that's okay. yeah It was a little disappointing because I kind of, you know, I put a little pressure on myself because I am the main guy.
01:02:02
Billy
Like I said, I feel like I could sell ice to an Eskimo, right? Do you like the cliches in there? had the
01:02:08
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:02:08
RICK JAMES
ah bill Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:02:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
I used to ask him, I was love it.
01:02:10
Billy
So, but I set my own goals, and then, okay, well, it just didn't work out,
01:02:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
Love it.

Industry Struggles and Adaptations

01:02:15
Billy
right?
01:02:15
Billy
But that's just like, like you said with these guys, and I see it all over in these markets, not just even in the snow industry. I just feel like I'm failing. Why do you feel like you're failing? I don't even know why I'm failing. Well, do you get up for work every day?
01:02:27
Billy
Yeah. Do you protect your family and your kids? Yeah. What are you failing at, dude?
01:02:32
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. Are you still paying your bills?
01:02:33
Billy
I mean, do you live a clean life, or, you know, did you get off the math, or, yeah, yeah, I got clean, you know, whatever it is, it's like, Set your own goals, set your own pace and work to achieve them.
01:02:44
Billy
And if they don't work, then you create a different path. How many guys, how many times have you had to change the path of the direction of where you're going? You thought you're going this way and all of a sudden you're going this way.
01:02:52
The SnowJobs Podcast
and At times, weekly.
01:02:54
RICK JAMES
Nope.
01:02:54
Billy
and you
01:02:55
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, you have to.
01:02:55
RICK JAMES
Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
01:02:58
Billy
they you Sometimes to get where I'm going.
01:02:58
RICK JAMES
Exactly.
01:03:02
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, ah Billy, I would say the same basic thing, like I've used it before.
01:03:02
RICK JAMES
yeah
01:03:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
I'll ask you the question. Did executives survive 2024?
01:03:11
Billy
absolutely Absolutely.
01:03:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go. Your success.
01:03:13
Billy
I'm funny.
01:03:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
That wasn't...
01:03:14
Billy
I didn't think we would but
01:03:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
that But that was no joke. All kidding aside, that was not easy. 2024 was probably the worst year for snow guys. I mean, we have the most of the country had no snow for the second year in a row.
01:03:28
Billy
so
01:03:33
The SnowJobs Podcast
Prices were at an all-time high for everything we need to do snow. You know, people wanted, the customers wanted to pay less. If you're still breathing as a snow company going into 2025, pat yourself on the back. You know, you you're successful because a lot of people, we've all said it multiple times now. Have you ever seen the amount of iron and trucks and plows and stuff that you've seen in the last four months on marketplace, on auction sites? Like everything is getting liquidated and I'm talking like,
01:04:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
Not beat up old crap. It's new stuff. Companies are folding left and right.
01:04:10
Billy
Yeah, I Agree, we're seeing it here, too. Um, you know it we took a I'll be honest who we took a few major hits on some ah Some some commercial clients that went out of business themselves and stiffed us out of you know, 20 50 Well that I'm not gonna lie.
01:04:28
Billy
I don't care how big you are a 20 to 50 thousand dollar hit back-to-back Not gonna lie, but you know, I'm still here and I'm thankful for the friends I have.
01:04:33
RICK JAMES
Oh, wow.
01:04:33
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's big.
01:04:34
The SnowJobs Podcast
That hurts. No, that hurts.
01:04:39
Billy
I consider we made it through. I'm still alive.
01:04:44
Billy
yeah Here we are.
01:04:44
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's all.
01:04:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep.
01:04:45
Billy
That's success to me.
01:04:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
I agree. i do Like I said, I just wanted to protect the young guys there. That that really bothered me because they're the the two guys that stand out in my mind that I had those conversations with, they're both awesome and they're both successful.
01:04:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
They just don't feel successful. and if If they're there're feeling that way, then there's more younger guys in this business out there feeling the same way.
01:05:04
Billy
Absolutely.
01:05:06
RICK JAMES
Yeah, we have a lot more than two guys.
01:05:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
and I'm just telling them, Yeah, I just wanted to tell them, don't let anybody else set your goals. Don't let anybody else influence your goals. Be realistic in your goals and, you know, don't let anybody tell you what measures your success.
01:05:21
The SnowJobs Podcast
you know You got your bills paid, you're paying yourself a good wage. Your people are happy, your family is happy. you know who's the then yeah I mean, who's happier? Who's more successful? The guy that's paying himself well from a small business, two, three trucks, three or four employees, that's he's grown 10 to 20% every year for the last four years. He's got plenty of time for his family and friends, able to pay himself 200K a year.
01:05:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
or the guy that's constantly trying to scale, constantly trying to reach that next level because that's what he hears he has to do, you know, which let's face it, every level that you try and scale up from where you're at comes with infinitely more stress and a huge layout and cap expense.
01:06:05
RICK JAMES
Yeah, you got to keep feeding that animal.
01:06:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
You can't scale without hiring more people and getting more shit.
01:06:07
RICK JAMES
You got yeah to keep feeding that animal.
01:06:08
Billy
Correct.
01:06:11
RICK JAMES
You just got to keep letting him stop.
01:06:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yes.
01:06:13
RICK JAMES
so
01:06:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
So I mean, who's more successful than that guy that's never going to have enough time with his family like because now he's trying to level up constantly. His guys are stressed because of all the additional work he's putting on them and bringing it in to try and make that next revenue level or or whatever they're doing. and you know And he's never going to be truly happy because he can't take the time to appreciate what he's built, what he already built at that level. like i had I had a conversation with a guy that makes he's He's done remarkably well. And he hit a revenue total three years in a row. That was awesome for 99% of us. That'd be awesome. And he felt like, ah, I can't make the next step. yeah i can't I can't do it. It's too much investment. It's too many guys that I have to hire. And I'm like, what's wrong with where you're at? like What's wrong with you hit the same total three years in a row in a bad economy? What the fuck is wrong with that?
01:07:11
Billy
You know, and it's interesting.
01:07:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like what you're fine where you are. Like, I don't, I don't understand. You know, I just don't want guys to feel like they, cause that's all you hear, right? Out there. You have to take the next step. You have to make the next, you have to level up. but You have to, you know, do this. Everything is the next step, the next level, you know, the next revenue, you know, hit. And I don't know that that's necessarily realistic. What do you guys think?

Personal Success and Contentment

01:07:34
Billy
I think the last part of that conversation has ah the lesson that I think that I, it took me a while to learn. It's gotta to be content. You gotta learn how to be content.
01:07:46
Billy
That takes discipline. I mean, Angela, to my mother, to my grandma, you know, I was not gifted with a thing called patience. Like, I work hard to get things done.
01:07:47
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:07:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah
01:07:57
Billy
If I see something, you know, don't put off tomorrow what you could do today. I always live by that, right? But it took me a long time to be content. And once I learned to be content and be thankful I don't live in a big house.
01:08:10
Billy
I live in a house that's perfect for us. We have the heat. We have light. You can see we have Internet and lights. I'm content. I'm happy with that. That's great. Now I'm feeling it from the fucking neighbor.
01:08:19
The SnowJobs Podcast
dial up, you got dial up, dial up internet, but yeah, you got internet.
01:08:21
Billy
He doesn't know it yet. oh I hope he doesn't listen to this. No.
01:08:27
Billy
Exactly. but I learned to be content. I am I don't live in a 7,000 square foot house, but I'm not jealous of the person that does I'm happy that I do have four walls because there's people out it tonight at 20 degrees 21 degrees that don't have a home but then on the other end of it too is I'm not saying stop being ambitious because I'm ambitious and Be a go better But you have to learn how to be happy for what you it with you have the blessings that you have been given and content with that
01:08:42
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yup.
01:08:49
The SnowJobs Podcast
No.
01:08:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
Absolutely. It's awesome to be hungry. It's awesome to be motivated to grow and make the money and and make the next level. If that's your dream, do it. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying like, I just hear so many guys saying the same things. They they got to get to the next step.
01:09:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
you You got to be careful not to lose track of how successful you are actually are at your current level.
01:09:19
Billy
absolutely
01:09:19
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. like I don't want to tell guys, don't be hungry. Don't go out there and get it if that's you know what you want to do.
01:09:25
RICK JAMES
No.
01:09:26
The SnowJobs Podcast
I'm just saying, don't don't feel like if you don't feel like you have to go there. like be can Like you said, Bill, learn how to be content with the level that you're at if you're successful there.
01:09:38
Billy
Well, I'm gonna tell you what and i not to keep cutting the journey off here. I don't know if you're gonna say something.
01:09:42
The SnowJobs Podcast
Go ahead.
01:09:44
Billy
The thing is, is that once I learned to be thankful for what I've done and made and have and the blessings and the more than I could give back, which different level, I mean, you might give back to someone in need or whatever that is, the blessings come a little bit better.
01:10:02
Billy
I mean, it's really an interesting way how this universe works because like I said, Once you learn the content, then you're able to give back. Then you see the bigger blessings coming, whether it's scalable growth or better health or loss weight, whatever it is.
01:10:17
Billy
I mean, I'm sure Angelo would like to have me have me less attractive than what I am. You know, I mean, Mr. GQ, but she got blessed.
01:10:24
RICK JAMES
ah Yes.
01:10:25
Billy
So she should be very thankful for that. Now at the same token, but I see my life change in five years.
01:10:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
Ah.
01:10:31
RICK JAMES
ver
01:10:33
Billy
by Learning I mean there were hard lessons like I kind of I wouldn't say I felt like from listening to these podcasts or whatever else the What do you call them the self-help?
01:10:42
Billy
I just think maybe I should be doing more, but maybe I should have stepped back and say look what I've done How can I help others and enrich somebody else's life, and then my life got better But it took a while to see it that way
01:10:42
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:10:42
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
01:10:52
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah
01:10:57
Billy
But nobody's going to tell me what my goals are. I mean, if you if you guys said, hey, Bill, I really think you should be a 20 million dollar company by now, I'd be like, fuck you, I'm not going to do it.
01:11:05
Billy
Might not ever hit that.
01:11:05
RICK JAMES
Mm hmm.
01:11:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:11:07
Billy
That's not my that's not your goal. That would be my have to be my goal for me to make that decision, you know.
01:11:13
RICK JAMES
Right.
01:11:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:11:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
I just want, I want to make sure the young guys, yeah, I want to make sure the young guys out there that are, that are starting out or that are, you know, year four or five that have built from the ground up.
01:11:14
Billy
number place
01:11:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
I want to make sure that they don't lose sight of how successful they've been to this point, trying to get in the rat race to get to the next level, maybe, you know, take time to appreciate it.
01:11:32
RICK JAMES
these last these last few years have been horrible years they've been if you're made it through these years you you're doing something right so so yeah yeah you've made it through the last right yep
01:11:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's horrible.
01:11:37
Billy
but
01:11:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
01:11:40
Billy
absolutely
01:11:41
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's it. Don't lose track of how successful you are at your at the level you're at right now. Because if you're still breathing after you know the it's a good day right now.
01:11:48
Billy
Absolutely That's a good As my grandmother used to say it's better to be seen than viewed But I will say that it's it was harder to I went it was harder to go through 23 and 24
01:11:52
The SnowJobs Podcast
There's a lot of guys that aren't. you know the
01:11:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
Absolutely.
01:11:59
RICK JAMES
oh yeah
01:11:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
And you know what?
01:12:06
Billy
than It was in 2007 eight nine. I Look back and I think that's in the park compared last two three years you can attribute it to whatever it is, you know without getting into that but Murder but all of us real estate everything
01:12:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh, I agree. I agree.
01:12:14
RICK JAMES
Oh, they went bad.
01:12:19
The SnowJobs Podcast
Just the inflation alone, just the inflation alone.
01:12:23
RICK JAMES
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
01:12:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, it was nuts. Absolutely nuts. But yeah, I just, like I said, that, that kind of bothered me. I wanted to make sure we put something out there just, just to talk about it, you know, and and guys can take it or leave it. They don't have to agree with us, but you know, we've all, the three of us have done this for a long time and that's, you know, what we can tell you is just make sure if you're a younger guy, take the time to.
01:12:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, understand where you're at and and look at the success you already are where you're at. Because if you're still breathing after the last four years, you know, that yeah that's a good day.
01:12:58
Billy
that's a good day
01:13:00
RICK JAMES
yeah Yeah.
01:13:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's a good day because there's a lot of guys that aren't look how many look at how many companies have sold. or been bought up because they're either going under you know already or you know they just want out because they know they're on the, they they know they've already crested the top of the hill and they're starting to roll back down.
01:13:08
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:13:12
RICK JAMES
Yeah, this one out.
01:13:21
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:13:21
The SnowJobs Podcast
So they sell before, you know why they're still valuable and profitable.
01:13:26
RICK JAMES
yep
01:13:27
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, so it's like I said, there's nothing wrong with being hungry. If you, if that's your dream to scale it and build it, build it as big as you want to get, but just don't make sure it's your dream. Don't let somebody else implant in your head, you know, whatever somebody else's dream or, or what their target for a successful business is financially that that revenue shit drives me crazy. Cause it's so market dependent, especially in s snow.
01:13:55
Billy
There it is.
01:13:55
RICK JAMES
Yeah, yep.
01:13:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like how are you going to tell a guy in middle America that's, you know, he, the, the eight towns within 60 minute drive in dry pavement, uh, have a grand total of 9,000 people.
01:14:08
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know what I mean? Like there's 10,000 people in an hour drive in either direction. And you're going to tell them to be successful and consider yourself successful. You have to hit, you know, $2 million dollars in snow revenue.
01:14:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's ridiculous.
01:14:19
Billy
There it is.
01:14:20
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:14:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, so that's why that's all I'm saying.
01:14:22
Billy
and It's it's it's just numbers too. I mean if that's what's defining it your success, I mean It's important, but I don't think it's the most important thing and it should be With your CPA your family those decisions ever.
01:14:24
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:14:32
RICK JAMES
Right.
01:14:37
Billy
Hey, what do we want to do this year?
01:14:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
you
01:14:39
Billy
Not somebody dictating, you know, you should be doing five ten because like I said, it's all relative, ah you know and it and what that what What if that person hits 10 million what's next year then?
01:14:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
The only thing that's important. Yeah.
01:14:52
Billy
then Then you will never feel achievement. yeah Again, i'm I'm saying this like a double-edged sword.
01:14:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:14:57
Billy
You want to be stay hungry and aggressive, but then you'll never youll it'll never be enough. And then you'll just die a miserable person because...
01:15:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:15:05
RICK JAMES
yeah
01:15:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Or, or you had your $10 million dollars goal and you hit it one year and then next, the next year you're down to 6 million and you're like, Oh, I'm a failure.
01:15:10
Billy
Right.
01:15:15
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, like sustainable income that you're getting year after year, sustainable revenue. I always tell guys like, dude, the only numbers that fucking matter is did you take in a lot more money than you put out?
01:15:28
RICK JAMES
Yeah. Yeah.
01:15:29
Billy
Correct.
01:15:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
I mean bottom line, bottom line, I can't get any simpler than that.
01:15:31
Billy
wrap but yeah ah cra
01:15:31
RICK JAMES
Nope.
01:15:34
The SnowJobs Podcast
you didn't you Did you take in 300% more than you put out?
01:15:34
RICK JAMES
nope
01:15:39
The SnowJobs Podcast
If you did, then fucking dude, who gives a shit what the final number is?
01:15:39
RICK JAMES
I use a red ink or black ink.
01:15:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's it, that's it.
01:15:48
RICK JAMES
Crayons.
01:15:48
The SnowJobs Podcast
Don't do it for the gram, don't do it to keep up with the Joneses. The gram is Hollywood and fuck the Joneses. Do what's working for you. You know, do what's going to work in your market. Don't just, yeah, that just bothers me.
01:16:00
The SnowJobs Podcast
Cause I think these guys get a little brain poisoned by, you know, people that are looking to make money by helping, you know, let me help you with your business.
01:16:11
RICK JAMES
But if, Hey, if you want to send some money, I will call you and tell you what I will, I will consult for you and tell you what you need to do.
01:16:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
Jeremy is a snow consultant.
01:16:19
RICK JAMES
Your goals need to be. Here's my phone number.
01:16:21
The SnowJobs Podcast
You first thing you need a pimp hat and a pimp coat.
01:16:23
RICK JAMES
Reach out.
01:16:26
RICK JAMES
Yes. Here's my Venmo and, uh, support your money, all your money to me.
01:16:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
oh my god you know i get it it's just you know there you go see there you go you guys are both gurus new gurus but now in like
01:16:31
RICK JAMES
I will.
01:16:32
Billy
Well, that's funny because I was gonna tell you about my new thing it was called masa making snow great again yeah So but Jeremy stole my thunder there so you can either wire or Venmo checks to either one of us now
01:16:38
RICK JAMES
Oh.
01:16:44
RICK JAMES
Yeah, yeah, we're good. yeah We'll team up, Billy. We'll we'll team up. New venture, Billy.
01:16:51
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, it's more and and it's not like I'm not talking about any industry stuff. This is more like on the business business side. Like you listen to some of these business like entrepreneur podcasts and stuff. And I don't know. It just, it doesn't seem like it's a, it's not a cookie cutter thing. Like you can't, you can't cut and paste everybody into the, what they're talking about, especially with snow and snow business. There's too many different variables.
01:17:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, what market are you in? What, what is the, what is the potential for growth in your market for snow? If you don't have growth potential, if you're maxed out because you're in a small area, small town and you know, you got nowhere to go behind, find what's successful in that area.
01:17:35
The SnowJobs Podcast
And that's, you're good. Like I said, are you, are you taking in a lot more than you're putting out?
01:17:37
Billy
Absolutely.
01:17:41
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's the bottom line. All your bills are paid. You're good.
01:17:46
The SnowJobs Podcast
I don't know.
01:17:46
Billy
But that's the...
01:17:47
The SnowJobs Podcast
thats just me Like I said, it just it got under my skin a little bit because you had guys that were down on themselves that shouldn't have been down on themselves because they're doing a great fucking job. but um I just wanted to have that discussion with you guys because I know you guys both know what I'm talking about and you know your opinions are are very valid and and they mean a lot to guys out there.
01:17:55
Billy
Absolutely.
01:18:08
The SnowJobs Podcast
I wanted to get that out there just for some of the younger guys. It's okay to be where you're at. you know don't
01:18:13
Billy
Absolutely I Think that's about it on that the Reverend under 50 power
01:18:14
RICK JAMES
oh
01:18:15
The SnowJobs Podcast
Don't forget to so be happy where you're at and take a look at hex how successful you actually are. But yeah, I mean, you guys ah got anything else to add to that?
01:18:26
RICK JAMES
I don't think so. Yeah.
01:18:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
What else we got, Billy?
01:18:32
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah?
01:18:32
RICK JAMES
commercial Commercials. Commercials.
01:18:34
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah, we'll do some commercials. We'll come back. Billy's got more. Pastor Bill, we'll be back in a minute.
01:18:39
RICK JAMES
pastard reference
01:19:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
All right, guys, we are back. Pastor Bill going to finish up his sermon.
01:19:50
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
01:19:52
Billy
Hello Olivia.
01:19:52
RICK JAMES
oh
01:19:53
The SnowJobs Podcast
wow
01:19:53
RICK JAMES
ah we
01:19:55
The SnowJobs Podcast
We're not going to see you then, Billy.
01:19:55
RICK JAMES
but
01:19:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, we'll have to be friends on Earth here because me and Jeremy have both agreed we're going decidedly south.
01:20:03
Billy
South out to Whitmer weather.
01:20:03
RICK JAMES
yeah
01:20:04
The SnowJobs Podcast
When it's over, when it's over, we're going to be probably south.
01:20:05
RICK JAMES
yeah yeah
01:20:09
The SnowJobs Podcast
You'll you'll be going north.
01:20:09
RICK JAMES
i I'll be self with all my friends.
01:20:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's it. I won't know anybody where you're going, Bill.
01:20:14
Billy
Hahaha.
01:20:15
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
01:20:17
The SnowJobs Podcast
oh shit Shit oh man, I was good to talk to you buddy anything else you want to talk about buddy
01:20:24
Billy
No, I mean it's like I said to parlay with ah everything else we've talked about Things are good. I mean, it's it's my stress levels are tolerable most days I'm happy. I'm happy. I got a wonderful fiance good friends. I'm content with that ah It's interesting though, this is a whole change of so not a change of subject but when you guys mentioned the social media and
01:21:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:21:08
Billy
Who made this? like it's just It's weird to me. like Before my mom passed 12 years ago, she said the internet was going to be the anti-Christ. Now, i so I believe that's a little extreme because it's a tool, but it's a misused tool as well.
01:21:20
Billy
Everybody's still an individual. There's still shit bags. There's still go-getters. I know some so people that are not very wealthy at all, great dads, great family men.
01:21:20
RICK JAMES
Mm hmm.
01:21:30
Billy
They work hard at a job that they don't like. They're heroes in my book. they They do what they have to do to provide.
01:21:35
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:21:37
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
01:21:37
Billy
And that is, I guess, the way i I guess leave with that or whatever. And where I'm going with it is that everybody's an individual and you got to treat yourself. What is good for you, yourself, your family, whatever it is you got going on, not from somebody else's mold.
01:21:53
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep.
01:21:54
Billy
So just my sense on that.
01:21:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
100%. No, that's perfect.
01:21:58
RICK JAMES
it part
01:21:58
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's exactly right.
01:21:58
RICK JAMES
yeah
01:21:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like I said, if it's your dream, chase it. If it's not your dream, you know, figure out who put it there and why and You know, get your own, you know, get your own thing and don't like, it just bothers me when these guys are, are more successful than they know.
01:22:13
The SnowJobs Podcast
Just because like you said, they're trying to fit into some, some other mold or they're trying to, or like Jeremy said, they're trying to fit in somebody else's picture.
01:22:17
Billy
and maybe we'll just leave it in that mold.
01:22:17
RICK JAMES
Somebody else.
01:22:18
RICK JAMES
Somebody else.
01:22:22
Billy
Right.
01:22:23
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, they're trying to put their logo on Glacier or, you know, basically do the same thing. That's, you know, no, you're not going to duplicate companies. You know, you get, you find your own way, but that's what like Jeremy said, they see that they may be a little impatient.
01:22:38
The SnowJobs Podcast
They may be a little, um, not understanding all that goes into getting a company. Like, like you look at Arctic, you know, Arctic's another one 40 years to get where they are now.
01:22:50
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:22:53
The SnowJobs Podcast
You know, like to to get that big and to have that many moving parts and that many headaches. Like it took 40 years to build that empire. Like, but you know, instant gratification, you know, the social media age, instant gratification.
01:23:04
Billy
that I
01:23:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
We got to have everything now. And, and if if that's your attitude and that's what you're doing, you never are satisfied with where you are currently. No matter how, no matter how good you have it.
01:23:18
RICK JAMES
Yeah, I'll never be happy.
01:23:18
The SnowJobs Podcast
And that's dangerous. Yeah. You'll never be happy.
01:23:22
Billy
and my and Exactly, you never be happy and my suggestion is is when the local proven mentor. if if you If you need a mentor, and um I mean that's great. When I first started, I had a guy, not even in the snow business, he was a successful real estate guy. Show up 15 minutes before anybody else.
01:23:38
Billy
operate with dignity and honesty, treat people fair, and do what you say you're going to do, and you'll be successful.
01:23:44
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah Yeah.
01:23:45
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:23:45
Billy
But he left it at that. You'll be successful. Not if you do those, you'll be a 100 millionaire. No, you'll just be successful because you treat people the right way.
01:23:51
The SnowJobs Podcast
Listen up.
01:23:54
Billy
Well, I treat people the right way, and I get fucked just like probably you guys do, but it doesn't deter me from tomorrow treating people the right way.
01:23:58
RICK JAMES
Uh-huh. Great.
01:24:01
Billy
ah you know You gotta to have balls of steel to operate a business, own a business, right?
01:24:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. A hundred percent.
01:24:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
You do.
01:24:07
Billy
You gotta to learn how to roll with these punches. It takes some finesse. Not everybody can do what you do or sell what you do or make quick decisions on the fly. But that's what you do or that's why you hire processes to do it.
01:24:20
Billy
Like for me, I don't have another salesperson. I like doing sales for my company and I'm okay with that. There's other guys that have 10 sales guys working for them.
01:24:29
The SnowJobs Podcast
Let me make a suggestion. Send Angela in. um let but Let her do your sales. Let her do your sales.
01:24:45
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's it. That's it. You'll hit that next level of revenue. Oh my God. That'd be funny. But yeah, yeah, dude, you said mentor, uh, Randy straight said the same exact thing.
01:24:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
So there must be something to it. Show up on time. Do what you say you're going to do. Those were the two things he said that the advice to snow guys.
01:25:03
RICK JAMES
It's a problem. From that problem with our world, we live in out there. We always talk about the common sense. There is none anymore. there It's so there's nobody's got the common sense anymore.
01:25:15
RICK JAMES
Nobody can think for themselves. They always have to be reassured by something else. You got to just make a decision and go with it and be okay with your decision, but people can't do it.
01:25:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
Hence why Guru Jeremy is going to be such a hit.
01:25:28
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
01:25:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
There you go.
01:25:29
RICK JAMES
Yeah. I'll be like, well, like the weather man, you know, I'm not responsible not responsible for anything.
01:25:30
The SnowJobs Podcast
Guru Jeremy. You're going to have your own 900 number. Do they still have that?
01:25:35
RICK JAMES
Just send me your money.
01:25:37
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah I'm going to start golfing.
01:25:39
Billy
disclaimer Disclaimer But no, i I agree.
01:25:41
RICK JAMES
Yeah.
01:25:42
Billy
There is no common sense like how many people can think on the fly as a business owner or as a sharp individual and I'm not saying just in this business You make a decision you stick with it and if it fails, okay.
01:25:45
RICK JAMES
All right, exactly.
01:25:54
Billy
Well, we know that didn't work I'll be the first time I fail all the time, but you know what I learned not to do the same thing twice That's insanity. So you learn how to finesse it
01:26:01
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:26:03
The SnowJobs Podcast
Amen.
01:26:04
Billy
But just like obviously you said Randy straight. That was literally what was told to me when I was like a young person. And when I say young, like 17. Bill, show up on time. Do what you say you're going to do. And things will just fall into place.
01:26:19
The SnowJobs Podcast
What are the, what are both those guys that said that have in common? They're both wildly successful. You know, they were both wildly successful in their lives. So. but you know, you know, it's, it's just, it's funny.
01:26:32
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's, it's really funny. Cause like I, so I have guys that call me before a storm and I'm, I won't mention any names, but there's a guy that's my age has been in business just as long as me will call me before every storm saying, so, uh, what are you thinking for this one?
01:26:48
The SnowJobs Podcast
What's your plan? How long have you been in business? You're calling me to find out what our plan is.
01:26:55
RICK JAMES
I have that for every storm.
01:26:55
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like you can't develop your own plan.
01:26:57
RICK JAMES
Every time I get that from people in this town. What are you guys doing?
01:27:00
The SnowJobs Podcast
I'm like, what are you doing?
01:27:01
RICK JAMES
What are you are you guys doing?
01:27:03
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like we're gonna, when it starts snowing, we're going to push it.
01:27:03
RICK JAMES
What the fuck doesn't matter what I'm doing?
01:27:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like, let what do you mean?
01:27:07
RICK JAMES
I'm gonna do what I wanna do.
01:27:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
What, what's the plan?
01:27:08
RICK JAMES
You guys do what you wanna do.
01:27:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
Well, they I think they, it's more our timing. Like when we're going to pretreat, if we're going to pretreat, you know, stuff like that. And cause I don't think they like to, nobody around here really pretreats.
01:27:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
Like even when they should, it's not really a widely done thing. Um, some guys are catching on though. Some guys are doing it. I just met a guy tonight actually in my area that does liquids. And I didn't think there was anybody doing liquids, but apparently he does them at a hospital around here.
01:27:42
Billy
Well, it's interesting, like a long time, it's we haven't been a pre-treating market.
01:27:43
The SnowJobs Podcast
and so
01:27:47
Billy
ah where it's getting i would I kind of feel it's a little more abusive at this point, but we pre-treat before freezing rain on sets, right? um If we know that a storm is going to hit before, let's just say ah six o'clock, seven o'clock rush ah in the morning where people are going to be showing up, like we want to make sure that they at least get into their facilities before, you know,
01:28:12
Billy
But we do preachy. Not a lot, but we but that's this thing. I make my own decision. we meet you know Me and the guys will say, hey, what are we thinking on this one? I get a lot of calls, too.
01:28:23
Billy
Hey, what time are you going out? I don't know yet. I want to see what happens. Because as we said in the pre-show, I've seen quite a few events this year from that have been, oh yeah, they're going to start at 5 AM.
01:28:33
Billy
m Hey, we got to go out, dry pavement, just like you said.
01:28:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
Nope. Well.
01:28:40
Billy
And then nothing happens. or it doesn't start until 11 and it's rain, which happened a couple of weeks ago. So, right?
01:28:48
The SnowJobs Podcast
Who said it was gonna be, who said it was gonna be something?
01:28:51
Billy
Is that a question?
01:28:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
I can't hear it enough.
01:29:00
RICK JAMES
but
01:29:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
I can't.
01:29:01
RICK JAMES
I guess that's gonna turn into like a drinking game on this show. every
01:29:04
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's gonna be a t-shirt, dude. We should just do Snow Jobs Nation on the back. Excuse me, doctor.
01:29:10
RICK JAMES
yeah yeah
01:29:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
oh
01:29:12
Billy
you that you know he goes while XYZ company ruin my whole night I said how long you been doing this dude you can't look at the window like we used to on a memorable max dolls and be like look Jeremy it snow and get your fucking ass out of bed get the truck bro but we just have any human nature of intuition to say you know what it is kind of cold out there I have a radar
01:29:16
The SnowJobs Podcast
That would be, there we go. There we go.
01:29:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
Other stats.
01:29:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah. Yeah.
01:29:40
RICK JAMES
so
01:29:44
RICK JAMES
Yep.
01:29:44
The SnowJobs Podcast
I missed that alert tone, man.
01:29:53
Billy
i Think there's some verdict going on. So it's not gonna start for at least a couple hours. What did you they have to be told? chip
01:30:00
The SnowJobs Podcast
We are not going down the weatherman rabbit hole.
01:30:00
RICK JAMES
I know, I know. Yeah, we're gonna, we'll be here all all night with that baby.
01:30:02
Billy
but like
01:30:02
The SnowJobs Podcast
We can spend an hour on that. yeah but I agree with the stats.
01:30:05
Billy
but That everybody shouldn't every forecasters have a baseball card because he's 0 for 3, you know
01:30:06
RICK JAMES
hi
01:30:12
The SnowJobs Podcast
That's a done. It's done. We're doing it. We're doing it.
01:30:17
The SnowJobs Podcast
yeah
01:30:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah Oh man.
01:30:21
RICK JAMES
I don't think we'd have any in the Gager League though, it'd be all minor leagues.
01:30:23
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah.
01:30:26
The SnowJobs Podcast
Weather Nuts was batting 125 in the Fishkill Market this year.
01:30:31
RICK JAMES
We're in a single league here.
01:30:36
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah They had, well, what what what should we say? They missed two saltings, plowings. Oh, man. Shit. Four sleets batted in.
01:30:46
Billy
And be a group of misfit toys and
01:30:49
RICK JAMES
i
01:30:50
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh, dude, that would be great.
01:30:51
RICK JAMES
Oh yeah.
01:30:51
The SnowJobs Podcast
We're doing that. that would Yeah, Weathermen baseball cards.
01:30:54
Billy
I think it'd be sweet.
01:30:56
The SnowJobs Podcast
<unk>d Be so funny that would be so funny.
01:30:58
RICK JAMES
Oh.
01:30:59
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yeah We'll think we'll have to think of fictitious weather company names Absolutely.
01:31:00
RICK JAMES
We don't.
01:31:01
Billy
Stats and all.
01:31:02
RICK JAMES
Rob would be, Rob would be posing with his Emmy for his.
01:31:07
The SnowJobs Podcast
Yep, Robin the Emmy for Rob's card. Absolutely Sure But here
01:31:11
Billy
but But you think about it, are you guys not essentially scored at the end of the season by your customer? I don't know if an exit interview and say, look, how did we do?
01:31:18
RICK JAMES
oh
01:31:20
Billy
Or ah everybody's different. But I see what, when you screw up, they remember when you screw up, right?
01:31:26
The SnowJobs Podcast
Well, here's the, here's the problem.
01:31:27
RICK JAMES
Oh, God, yeah.
01:31:28
The SnowJobs Podcast
Our snow is an exact science. It falls. You push it off till it's not there anymore. Weather is not an exact science. You know, it's variables.
01:31:36
Billy
like
01:31:38
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's, you know, the jet stream.
01:31:40
Billy
yeah
01:31:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
Have you ever heard of that?
01:31:41
RICK JAMES
Half a degree difference. Half a degree difference.
01:31:50
RICK JAMES
yeah
01:31:54
The SnowJobs Podcast
ah Oh, shit.
01:31:57
RICK JAMES
yeah
01:31:57
The SnowJobs Podcast
I love that fucking I can play that all day long.
01:31:58
RICK JAMES
Oh, yeah.
01:32:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
But yeah, we can literally we can go down a weather guy rabbit hole and we should probably do that. Actually, we should probably have a funny talk about the weather dudes episode without the weather dudes.
01:32:10
RICK JAMES
good Oh, we're not going to get them on?
01:32:10
The SnowJobs Podcast
Just talk about them. Just get them all fired up.
01:32:12
Billy
and um
01:32:13
Billy
um
01:32:13
RICK JAMES
We're not going to get them on?
01:32:14
The SnowJobs Podcast
You want to have we have all of them.
01:32:14
RICK JAMES
Let's get Rob and Nick and Mark. Oh, yeah.
01:32:16

01:32:17
The SnowJobs Podcast
So you have Marco, come on, Robin, Nick.
01:32:19
RICK JAMES
I think we should.
01:32:20
The SnowJobs Podcast
Mark the lock, Shannon Burger.
01:32:23
RICK JAMES
Oh, Dr.
01:32:25
The SnowJobs Podcast
We'll give them all nicknames on their cards too.
01:32:27
RICK JAMES

01:32:43
The SnowJobs Podcast

01:33:22
The SnowJobs Podcast
It's okay.
01:33:23
Billy
I mean, that that's it's kind of the same thing. We're chemists and you know he's really, him and Jordan had been working together, Patrick, and really proud of the guy. So he took her out in a V-box to kind of show her because she wants to learn so everything about snow.
01:33:36
Billy
She likes snow. She's psychotic like that. I mean, obviously if she's going to marry me, there's something with her.
01:33:40
The SnowJobs Podcast
Obviously.
01:33:41
RICK JAMES
Right. Oh, yeah.
01:33:41
Billy

Matlock dial dial up internet and Matlock.
01:33:47
Billy

01:33:49
Billy
I'll put her in Matlock. And so then she had us a CPL training today. So I'm obviously, I don't even know if she's still awake, but if she's still texting you, that's cool too. I mean, we could share.
01:33:59
RICK JAMES
Yeah. Yeah.
01:34:00
Billy
You're not a painful, Jeremy.
01:34:01
RICK JAMES
but
01:34:01
The SnowJobs Podcast
Uh, he's unavailable.
01:34:04
RICK JAMES
and the
01:34:05
The SnowJobs Podcast
He's unattainable.
01:34:05
Billy
but
01:34:06
The SnowJobs Podcast
He's, he's, he definitely is. Rick James has to stay neutral.
01:34:11
Billy
That's right.
01:34:11
RICK JAMES
yeah
01:34:11
The SnowJobs Podcast
Oh man.
01:34:12
