Quarter Mark Awards Discussion
00:00:14
Speaker
What is up, Goal Line listeners? We are back with another episode of the Goal Line. We are shockingly already a quarter of the way done with the NFL season. We're going to be hitting our quarter mark award winners along with everything else that's happened in the last week in football. Jordan, what is going on, man? Yeah, kind of depressing to think about it that way. Like once you hit October, it just time flies, man. Just this this time of the year just flies by. And yeah, kind of depressing. But yeah, still um plenty of football ahead of us.
00:00:44
Speaker
For sure. It's a Tuesday afternoon. We're recording this, man. We've got a bunch of rain here in West Tennessee, so no football practice
Arlington AU Tigers Update
00:00:50
Speaker
yet this week. And for your Arlington AU Tigers update, we've been off the last couple weeks for our bye week, then rolling into fall break. We did have a JV game last week. Brett, you know, we moved him from running back to tight end. His first game at tight end, he caught caught a touchdown pass. So that was pretty sweet, man. But yeah, we're off till October 25th. It's our next actual game. Damn, dude.
00:01:10
Speaker
I know. its They do two weeks for fall break, and then it just so happened that our bye week butted right up against it. So it's kind of nice having a little bit of break. We can kind of retool, regroup a little bit. But ah but yeah, it's definitely a lot of time off the middle season for kids this age. For sure.
00:01:24
Speaker
All right, you're going get into it, Jordan? Yeah, um um we're going to do a couple notes real quick that happened today.
Trelon Burks' Waiver Decision
00:01:29
Speaker
One thing I definitely wanted to hit on, Titans wave Trelon Burks today. So that that puts an end to the one of the worst trades I've possibly ever seen in my life.
00:01:39
Speaker
Not saying A.J. Brown is the greatest receiver ever, and he does cause a lot of headaches, but can you imagine Cam Ward actually having A.J. Brown as opposed to what they have now? Yeah, definitely. You know, at the time, dude, it didn't seem like the worst ever trade, man. Obviously, it still sucked losing A.J. Brown, but this one is one that, you know, didn't feel great at at the the moment and it's aged poorly. um You know, Traylon Burkett, a couple flashes. Dude just couldn't stay healthy, man. I think there's a good, you know, and and there's a multiverse out there where he's the kind of dude that gives you about 75% of what A.J. Brown had. Because he's big, burly, seems like a good athlete.
00:02:14
Speaker
ah But the hands were never really there. And more importantly, that dude just could never stay healthy, man. I feel like he was never really around for more five or six weeks at a time before getting hurt. So wish him the best in his future endeavors. But, yeah, I'm pretty sure his NFL career is over. I really hope the Eagles pick him up just to fucking โ
00:02:30
Speaker
He goes pick him up and he just balls out, dude. I mean, i could see yeah, if anybody could pick him up and that happened, it'd be them. And then one more thing happened about an hour ago.
Odafe O.A. Trade News
00:02:39
Speaker
The Ravens traded Odafe O.A. to the Chargers.
00:02:43
Speaker
He's one of their best pass rushers. So I don't know, man. This might be a sign of things to come for the Ravens. We'll get into their game and stuff yeah a little later, but not good.
00:02:55
Speaker
ah Let's do some college ball.
00:03:05
Speaker
All right, Tennessee was on a bye week this week, so no Tennessee talk this week.
Nebraska Football Performance
00:03:11
Speaker
The Huskers beat Michigan State. there was It was really windy in this game, so whichever team was going against the wind and in each quarter, it was not not good for their offense. But Huskers pulled it out, played really well in the first and fourth quarter, second, third. i don't know what they were doing, but again, they were going against the wind. But gutsy win, I mean โ two years ago, this team does not win that game. Like they find a way to fall apart and don't win that game. So I'll take it, man. Any win is a good win for them right now.
00:03:45
Speaker
Who's Nebraska got this week? They got Maryland on the road this week. Okay. Nice. Decent game. Who's Tennessee got this weekend? Let's say when they look it up, man, next week's the big one. Next week got, you know, third โ Third Saturday in October against Alabama. That's shaping up to be a huge game for playoff implications. This week, the Vols, they got Arkansas. which you know They lost Arkansas last week, man. They they should win that, but they're just SEC, man. Got Bobby Petrino coming to town.
00:04:11
Speaker
Yeah, Petrino coming to town, new game plan. Like i said, Arkansas, they damn near spoiled Tennessee's season last year, man. they probably Tennessee probably has a home playoff game. um if ah if they beat Arkansas last year. So, ah yeah, definitely changed the course. But, you know, ah real quick shout-out, dude. I'm speaking to Tennessee, man. We've hated them so much. How about the Nico coming out party on Saturday, man? Well, we're we're about to talk about it next. Okay.
00:04:35
Speaker
Yeah, that was awesome, man. All right, let's let's talk about that game. I put Penn State as as the biggest story this week.
Penn State's Disappointing Season
00:04:42
Speaker
Dude, I don't even really know what to say for Penn State at this point. I mean,
00:04:48
Speaker
I mean, like a lot of people are keep keep saying like, oh, there's no way James Franklin gets gets fired. Dude, they just lost to the worst team in the Power Four. Like, that was the worst team statistically in the the four major conferences.
00:05:04
Speaker
And they got beat pretty bad by him, too. I know the final score didn't indicate it, but... they They came back at the end. They they were getting their tails kicked all over the field for three-plus quarters. Yeah, it's not good. And, dude, good for Nico, man. he He needed a game like that with the season that they've had so far, so good for him.
00:05:21
Speaker
Maybe it just really was the coaching staff was just not good. I mean โ Yeah, looking back, like on the surface, yeah, they definitely should beat UCLA. But after it happened, you start looking at it, man. i think we kind of talked about this in our little college text chat. We got going with our our mutual friend, James.
00:05:36
Speaker
It kind of had all the recipes for disaster, right? you You're flying across the country after you had just a grueling, emotionally draining heartbreaker of a game the week before. You're flying all the way across the country, man. Tremendous road trip.
00:05:48
Speaker
And you're playing a team that, you know, you they're basically playing left handed, right? Like you haven't seen it. They're rolling out new schemes, man. New play caller on offense. ah They're playing loose. They literally have nothing to lose now since the head coach has been fired.
00:06:02
Speaker
and and And they got a quarterback that, you know, we we know what Nico can do, man. We know what the potential is, dude. Like if if everything's hitting, man. he should be one of the best players in all of college football. So it it was definitely a recipe for disaster if you look at it after the fact, but still just a stunning result, man, all the way around.
00:06:19
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's not good for Penn State at all. I mean, this team had playoff aspirations, national championship aspirations. I mean, i think they were like the second or third betting favorite to win the national title this year. So, I mean, dude, they had Drew Aller coming back, during and their offense coming back. They had a really good defense. Like,
00:06:38
Speaker
Now they're not even ranked. I mean, they were a top three team and now they're not even ranked. So definitely not good if you're a Penn State fan.
Miami vs. Florida State Analysis
00:06:45
Speaker
um Cincinnati beat Iowa State this weekend and looked really well doing it, looked really good doing it.
00:06:53
Speaker
I'm really glad Nebraska played Cincinnati in week one because this Cincinnati team does not look like the Cincinnati team that Nebraska played week one. Like they handled Iowa State pretty easily.
00:07:05
Speaker
Yeah, they yeah i mean they they took it to them, dude. like this ah It's going to be interesting to see which some of these fringe teams end up making the playoffs. you know I'm seeing Memphis start to get some play on some end-of-season predictions for getting in there, man. I think we're shaping up to have a much more fun playoff here in year two than we had in year one with some of the struggles that the โ the blue bloods of college football I've had so far this season. Well, also too, like the, the big 12 was the conference last year. They're raised like, what are you really going to get out of this conference? Like this year, they got some really good teams, man. BYU is good.
00:07:36
Speaker
Cincinnati is good. um Iowa state is still good. i mean, they got some decent ah and Arizona state's still up there. So they got some good teams. So we'll kind of see what it does. Luckily we don't have an SMU situation. It doesn't seem like this season. So We should get, ah if the Big 12 gets two teams, it should be two pretty good teams. so Yeah. um Miami beats Florida State and Tallahassee.
00:08:01
Speaker
Dude, there was a couple times in this game where I thought Miami might be in a little bit of danger, and then their defense just absolutely shut Florida State down. Tallahassee. Tough, man. They're tough. I think the the big thing with Miami, dude, the strength of schedule, it's never going to look super impressive. So I thought you're going to have whispers, man, around this team up until they hit the playoffs, man. But, you know, they're trending towards having a bye through the first round in the playoffs. So, um you know, things are looking up if you're a Hurricanes fan.
00:08:29
Speaker
I just wonder if they're really going to be built for that playoff though, man. Like I could, I could see them being the team this year that rolls in as a high seed and gets smoked by one of these teams that's playing in the first round. The ACC is bad. Yeah.
00:08:41
Speaker
I mean, you got Georgia tech and Virginia are the only other two ranked teams in that conference right now. And, That Georgia Tech game, whenever Miami plays them, should be fun to watch. I mean, it'll it'll be good. They don't play them the regular season, though.
00:08:55
Speaker
So the the rest of Miami's schedule is all unranked teams as of right now. So, yeah, that's that's not good for them. Hopefully they play Georgia Tech in the ACC championship to at least give us something to to watch down the stretch.
00:09:09
Speaker
um Let's talk about Texas.
Texas Football Critique
00:09:12
Speaker
Again, another team with sky-high aspirations coming into the season. and They were the title favorite coming into this season.
00:09:21
Speaker
Dude, we're going to have to start having some arch conversations because โ he I don't know, man. I watched... I'm blaming it on Sarkeesian, man. it i can't I can't be convinced that this is Arch, man. i'm I've never been a Sarkeesian fan. that's my That's my official stance right now, man, is that freaking it's all Sarkeesian just ruining this thing. Bro...
00:09:44
Speaker
I get the the play calling aspect of it, but some of the throws he's making are so it's bad. It's been bad, and it's puzzling because, dude, he looks so good in spot duty the the last couple seasons, man. Even when they were kind of just working me with yours, he just came in for a few plays here or there. He just seemed like he had some electricity to him.
00:10:02
Speaker
So, dude, I don't know. i'd really have no explanation at all for what we've seen on the field so far from him this year. I got to believe in the pedigree, man, that he gets it turned around. um But yeah, at this point, man, we're damn near halfway through with the season and it has not been good at all, man. If you're a Texas fan, dude, you really got to be wondering, man, like similar to like the Georgia Bulldog fans. Like why? did Why did we run Quinn yours out of town, man? Because it seemed like.
00:10:27
Speaker
I know he didn't I know Quinn didn't transfer. he ended up going to NFL. But um it seemed like, you know, Texas was more than happy to kind of usher him out the door. And Arch Manning was going to be starting this year, no matter if Quinn Ewers came back or not, dude. So at this point, man, like not that Quinn Ewers was the greatest ah of all time. But I feel like you're a Texas fan. You're kind of missing that a little bit.
00:10:46
Speaker
Yeah, I just โ I don't know, man. we I know โ and i me and you both do this. We obviously talk shit about Nebraska football all time. Like, dude, when is it time to start having some conversations about Texas football, the fact that they have a top three recruiting class every year, and it just seems like this is more normal than not at this point. Like, they come out with high expectations. I know last year they went to the playoff, but they didn't get anywhere once they got there. i just โ And they haven't โ and really, i mean, dude, almost like โ Since Colt McCoy left, dude, they haven't really been a national title contender, and that's going on almost 15 years ago at this point. Yeah, it's just โ I don't know, man. It's so weird to me that a team that gets that much talent has that much in-state talent just can never finish it at the end of the season. So, don't know, man.
00:11:33
Speaker
Yeah. if If this season goes poorly, I could easily see Sarkeesian getting fired. I mean, it Texas ain't going to wait long. like This isn't a team that's going to be like, oh, we had a down year. We'll just wait a couple of years and see what happens.
00:11:45
Speaker
like Yeah, and they're right there with Alabama as one of the most attractive coaching destinations out there, dude. They'll have their pick of whoever they want to hire. with the Like you said, it's a recruiting hotbed. You're never going to get beat out on you know n NIL money or resources or whatever that the school is going to set you up for success if you're at Texas.
00:12:03
Speaker
Yeah. Bama beat Vandy, and they beat him pretty handily. when When Vandy came out and went up 7-0 right away, i was like, oh, shit, this might actually be a game. It was not. Bama is really, really good. No, they bludged in the second half, man. Vandy hung around for two quarters, but second half, Bama just ran away with it.
00:12:20
Speaker
Dude, that Caden Proctor guy that plays left tackle for Bama is unreal. like They've been throwing him screens and stuff. That kid is unreal. He can move. Imagine if you're like a 190 pound DB and that dude's barreling down towards you in the secondary. He's going to score a touchdown this season. They're going to get him a touchdown.
00:12:37
Speaker
ah One other thing. Tyson. I've been really impressed with Ty Simpson, dude. Alabama's quarterback also, man. Very can move around, strong arm, like. he made He made a couple big time throws against Vandy.
00:12:48
Speaker
Yeah, he looked really good. And I was worried about him coming off that Florida State game at the beginning of the season because he did not look like he was ready to play at all. But, yeah, he's right of the ship. One more college thing I want to talk about.
Deion Sanders' Health Concerns
00:13:00
Speaker
Did you see Deion came out yesterday and said he's having medical issues again and blood clots in his legs and he's not getting feeling in his legs? Dude, yeah it really feels like he's on the way out of Colorado. Like, I i just don't know how much longer they can continue this.
00:13:15
Speaker
First of all, they're not good. Like, it's not a good football team. i mean Yeah, and if you're Deion, dude, like, you already kind of made your point, man. You showed what, you know, what Shador and what Travis Hunter could do there and stuff. They're gone. You got them both to the NFL regardless of Shador being stuck on the Browns. Yeah, like, i it you know, I would like to see Deion go and just take it easy and take take care of himself, man.
00:13:37
Speaker
I mean, yeah, at this point, like, what are you still doing there? I mean, they're two and four, they're 0-3 in the Big 12. I just, I don't know what what you're staying for at this point. So we'll see what happens. But i just, I feel like we're headed towards him just medical, just removing him from the sidelines. And so we'll see what happens, though.
00:13:57
Speaker
right, let's do our picks.
00:14:01
Speaker
Speaking of Dion...
Ohio State vs. Illinois Preview
00:14:14
Speaker
They told me bust out my AP. All right, we'll kick it off. Saturday, big noon kickoff, 11 o'clock. We got number one Ohio State heading to number 17, Illinois.
00:14:25
Speaker
Does Illinois have any chance at all in winning this game? They have a chance, but they're not going to win. i just It's going to take an all-time. To me, it's like you're going to have have all-time of a game plan, dude. Whatever trick plays you've been sitting on, and surprise on sidekick, they've got to empty out. there is It's got to be a kitchen sink type game.
00:14:41
Speaker
Am I the only one that's like not coming away from Ohio State game super impressed? like ah I'm with you, dude. yeah I feel like we haven't seen them peak yet this year at all, man. I'm with you. They're they're number one, but it's like that that win against Texas in week one, that's looking less and less impressive as the season goes by. and yeah I'm not really sure what they've done to warrant. they To me, they have not been the best team so far in college football. Well, I mean, they're the defending national championship. That's why they're number one. Yeah.
00:15:09
Speaker
I just, I don't come out of their games thinking like, man, this is a really good team, but i'm I'm imagining eventually they'll make a statement. It could be this week. I do think Ohio State wins. I don't know if it'll be a blowout, but um I do think they win.
00:15:24
Speaker
All right. After that, we head to Missouri. We got the Crimson Tide, number eight, Alabama, heading in the face, undefeated, number 14, Missouri. i don't really know how this one's going to go, man. I'm pretty confident in Alabama, but I do know it's going to be a straight-up madhouse, dude. like I'm sure they're the Missouri fans, they're going to be tailgating bright and early and be well lubed up by the time kickoff runs around. and Yeah, I think the atmosphere is going to be insane for this one, man. One of the biggest games Missouri's had.
00:15:52
Speaker
In a very, very long time. Yeah. I mean, Missouri's fan base, as much as I do not like them, like this is one of Nebraska's old rivals. I mean, i've I've been to games there and stuff, but yeah, it's going to be ah an electric atmosphere. I do think Bama's the better team.
00:16:07
Speaker
um Yeah. But I mean, it's a road game, dude. College football road games are weird. And under Kalen DeBoer, Alabama has not been the model of consistency, man. They could lay an egg. and I'm picking Bama, but Missouri has a very real chance to win this, dude. I think they need the crowd behind them, dude. I think they need to be bringing the energy.
00:16:24
Speaker
And I think they will, man. You know people here Missouri, I feel like a lot of people, like as a knee jerk, they kind of think Missouri is like Midwest, dude. It's really much closer to being in like a southern state with the the makeup of the demographics there, man. Some serious hillbillies in Missouri.
00:16:37
Speaker
Oh, yeah, yeah. Central Missouri is ah a lot of hillbillies. Yeah, it's it's definitely more southern than anything. But I agree with you. I think Bama does win, but I would not be shocked if Missouri does.
00:16:49
Speaker
All right, later on that afternoon, we got a top 10 matchup, two undefeated teams, number seven, Indiana, at number three,
Oregon vs. Indiana Prediction
00:16:55
Speaker
Oregon. Dude, I still, I get, Indiana's looked really good this year, man. i know, again, bringing up our buddy James, he's big on Indiana.
00:17:03
Speaker
I think Oregon wrecks them, dude. I really feel like Oregon, i think this is a three-score game, man.
00:17:11
Speaker
Dude, I just i fucking hate this coach for Indiana so much because everything he says does come true, man. like I mean, he says Google him. All we do is win, and he's not wrong, dude. They they do win a ton of games.
00:17:25
Speaker
I just don't see how they beat Oregon, though. like ah Oregon's team is constructed so well, and ah to me, this team's better than they were last year because I think Dante Moore is a better quarterback for that offense.
00:17:38
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going to Oregon it as well. But, dude, the way Indiana plays, man, and the way that coach is, like, I would not be shocked if they somehow did win this game. But I'm with you. I do think Oregon can handle them.
00:17:50
Speaker
All right, that's it for our top 25 teams. Let's hit ah let's hit the the fashion police, man, and then we'll get into our NFL talk. All right.
00:18:19
Speaker
right, so kick it off in the 1 o'clock window on Sunday.
Admiration for NFL Throwback Uniforms
00:18:22
Speaker
We had the Cowboys and Jets both rock an auction. The Jets rock the All Blacks. Cowboys rock the All White. I thought both these jerseys are pretty clean, man. I like both of these. This is a good look for sure.
00:18:31
Speaker
Yeah. um Moving on. Again, i think Jordan called it. He said probably the uniform matchup of the season in the later window. We had the Bucs at the Seahawks, man. of you, the Bucs rocking the creamsicle away jerseys, while the Seahawks rocked those beautiful 90s blue and green Seahawks uniforms. just Just a stupendous look.
00:18:50
Speaker
Dude, and they changed all the graphics to be like classic graphics and stuff. Yeah. the They hit a home run with this. This was absolutely phenomenal. we We need like one throwback game a week, man. i feel like that would hit like crack, dude. One 90s game. Dude, those two are like two of my favorite throwbacks to those Seahawks jerseys are so clean. I wish they'd just go back to those permanently.
00:19:11
Speaker
Yeah, they look really good, man. ah Again, another one that we talked about, something about the way Nike does the uniforms, du The colors are just like punched up and the the stripes and everything thing looks so much cleaner. Like, yeah, but these jerseys hit, dude.
00:19:23
Speaker
ah Cardinals rock their all-blacks, man, against the Titans. I love their all-black uniforms, dude. I don't know what they're putting in the finish on those helmets. They're like a darker black than like any other team that wears black helmets in the league somehow. Yeah, they do look really cool.
00:19:34
Speaker
I will admit, though, there was a couple times I looked up and I couldn't remember which team was wearing which unis. I'm like, why the hell did the Titans have on black unis? Cardinals, never mind. Yeah, and then last night, it's a shame, dude. The Bills, probably the best of the new rivalry jerseys, but they freaking took the L against the the Pats. in them so You got to like if you're the Bills, you're wanting to just already mothball these jerseys and put them away ah for for the rest of the season. Dude, those jerseys were so clean, though. like that That's the one of the first times I've like thought about buying a different team other than the Falcons jersey in a long time. like I really was considering pulling the trigger on a Josh Allen jersey, but
00:20:13
Speaker
I'm not going to. They are really cool, though. Yeah, very, very nice, man. The Bills already have one one of the best sets of uniforms in the league, man, but these ones just set it off, man. um Those Jags throwbacks were good last night, too. I love those.
00:20:27
Speaker
Yeah, to me, the only thing on there, dude, their throwbacks, they're so similar to the the uniforms they already wear that they don't they don't necessarily stand out to me. You know I mean? i kind of got to be, like, reminded that they had them. In the college game, we saw Texas A&M rock their All Blacks. what What do you think of those? They were fine. Dude,
00:20:42
Speaker
dude There's just another like, why does Texas A&M have all black uniform? To me, like there's only a couple teams that really need to do all these crazy alternates and stuff like Oregon's obviously going to do them all the time. But Texas A&M has a clean uniform anyway. Like, yeah, don't know, man. I just I don't I do like that script logo. That script a logo is cool. But I'm with you, dude. Like the maroon, like.
00:21:03
Speaker
And immediately do like if I see a team wearing maroon jerseys, I'm thinking Texas A&M. You know I mean? Like they've kind of made that their trademark. They own that color, dude. So, yeah, I'm with you. I don't know why they need to be rocking black. And then we saw Notre Dame go with the all green that we both talked, man, like not a fan of the green pants with the green jerseys. Notre Dame's another one. Like you could make the case that they're like right there with like the Yankees for like the best uniforms in all sports.
00:21:26
Speaker
Just keep it simple, dude. You don't need all chance if you're in Notre Dame fighting Irish. Agreed. All right, let's hit our NFL talk. All right, dude, let's let's open with it. You didn't think it was going to happen at all this season, but the Titans somehow win the game against the Cardinals.
Titans vs. Cardinals Game Review
00:21:41
Speaker
ah Dude, I have no fucking idea how they won that game. don't know if they so much won it at the Cardinals' losses. so You start off with de Mercado having a freaking ADR touchdown run, drops at the goal line, which, again, I'm waiting to see a player get cut for this, dude. like that you I just don't know how this continues to happen.
00:22:00
Speaker
On a fairly routine based in the NFL. People's freaking jobs are on the line, man. And you're that careless. And it doesn't even look cool, dude. That's the thing, man. It's not even like it's a badass. It'd be one thing if you were doing like the most badass celebration you anybody had ever seen. You fucked it up. But it's just a little thing to be like, oh, I'm so nonchalant. This is not a big deal. you know what's not a big deal?
00:22:18
Speaker
Running over and handing the ball to ref, dude. Like Barry Sanders did. Not to sound like a boomer, but like... As time goes on, man, like that's still like one of the coolest touchdown celebrations ever because it still gets brought up, dude. When anytime people bring up touchdown celebrations, they'll bring up like Deion dancing and they'll bring up Barry Sanders just running over and handing the ball to the ref, man, because that's how freaking cool it was.
00:22:36
Speaker
Here's my thing. Okay, I get the the finger roll dance, like rolling the finger rolling the ball off the tip of your fingers. I get it. Why can't you do it in the fucking back of the end zone? Why does it need to be when you're going into the end zone?
00:22:48
Speaker
Like, you do not look cool even if you do end up scoring. It looks so fucking stupid because your fan base is just going like, oh, God, did he get over the goal line before he fumbled it? Like, we've seen this three times in the last year. Like, how many times do we need to see this before?
00:23:02
Speaker
somebody's like hey guys leon let did this in the 90s and nobody did it again until these past couple years and now teams are all over again like and dude it's just it's not cool man like dude it doesn't get me fired up as fan dude think about who's the best football player we've seen in our lifetime tom brady when He scored. That motherfucker went off, bro. He spiked the fuck out of the ball every single time he scored. And you're like, hell yes, dude. Like, it would get you fired up, man. Or if you're if you're rooting against him, it would piss you off because you've seen how excited and fired up he is, man. Like, it's just... Yeah, and yeah don't i don' you know when he did the spike? Is it right after the ref threw up his hands that it was a touchdown? Like...
00:23:39
Speaker
Yeah. Like, dude, get in the fucking end zone, then do your dumb ass celebration. yeah Why the fuck do we need to keep doing all this dumb shit, nonchalant touchdown run? Like, just score.
00:23:51
Speaker
i mean, you literally lost your team the game. Like, we've seen it two weeks in a row that a dumb ass play like that has lost their team the game. Like, Arizona lost the game because of that. they They would have, if they score there, I don't even think the Titans even remotely make a comeback at that point because I just think they're just defeated at that point.
00:24:09
Speaker
not in yeah Not a fan at all, bro. I like, dude, I like just spiking it out of excitement, handing it to a lineman, let the lineman spike it. That's great. Toss the ball to a kid in the stands, man. but like did just i don't I'll never understand this whole fucking thing. So how was that?
00:24:24
Speaker
Yeah, then they got, you know, they got a, they deflected a Cam Ward pass at the last scrimmage. It gets picked off. Dude fumbles it. Somehow the ball gets kicked in the end zone. ah The Titans recover it for a touchdown.
00:24:35
Speaker
And then to top it all off, they let Calvin Ridley get loose and beat it, beat one of their cornerbacks one-on-one down the sideline for his biggest catch of the season. Absolute freaking dime from a Cam Ward, man. But But yeah, dude, just ah again, I'll take it, man. I'm happy to see Cam Ward more so than the Titans. Cam Ward deserved to get the win.
00:24:55
Speaker
um But I, you know, in my heart of hearts, I got to admit, I think that was more the Cardinals losing it than anything that the Titans did. Dude, Cam Ward is really good, and I just i hope he survives the season on that team because he's just getting hit so many times. I know, man. I i'm not going like i hope they can put a team around him. indeed He seems like such a good dude. hey His play is awesome. if you've only see If you only look at the stat line, you're not seeing it, dude. If you watch the games, you will see this dude is the freaking truth. Yeah, his receivers are dropping balls all the time.
00:25:23
Speaker
I'm not going lie to you. When he threw that perfect pass, part of me expected Calvin Ridley to drop that ball. Oh, yeah, it would have been the most. Drop it or or tip it up and let the Cardinals guy pick it, man. Like anything, dude. Yeah, if you watch Cam, like that just the presence on field, man. He does not look like a rookie at all. No, he's really good.
00:25:41
Speaker
Um, let's go back to Thursday night, shorthanded 49ers beat the Rams. Dude, I'm not gonna lie to you. This was one of the most impressive things of the entire weekend. Like i didn't think the Niners had a chance in hell of winning this game.
49ers' Victory Over Rams
00:25:54
Speaker
Mac Jones selling like he's at WrestleMania, dude, trying to freaking take down Roman Reigns or something, man. Just limping off the field. Dry eating. Yeah. Did you hear how many damn bananas he had to eat because he was cramping up? He said he had like eight bananas during the game.
00:26:08
Speaker
I mean, if you ever see Mac Jones with his shirt on, he does not look like a professional athlete. He was part of a meme one time where... And it was like him and DK Metcalf, like side by side with their shirts off. And so the great thing about football is that two guys like this can play the same sport, you know, and ah yeah, it's definitely the case, man. But did he he's earned himself some money, man. He's got a two year deal with the Niners, dude.
00:26:29
Speaker
I think I think he's definitely one of these guys who's going to be sticking. i think he's to be the next like journeyman who you look up in 10 years and he's played for almost half the league. Hey, man, I'm just saying, Mac Jones has not lost a game as a starter for the 49ers this year. Brock Purdy has. It's true. don't know, man. I'm trying to plant some seeds of QB controversy there. And Brock Purdy did not look good in that Jags game at all. And Mac Jones has played really well. So, don't know, man.
00:26:55
Speaker
I'm still a Brock fan. But, but yeah, Mac Jones is having a nice little season. Next. Texans just absolutely destroyed the Ravens. Dude, here is my one question out of this whole thing.
00:27:07
Speaker
How did the Ravens go through the entire offseason thinking that if Lamar got hurt, that Cooper Rush could run that offense? Because that offense is built on RPOs and things like that.
00:27:18
Speaker
Cooper Rush can't run to save his goddamn life, and they were trying to do RPOs on Sunday. I'm sitting there watching it, and Will Anderson literally wasn't even respecting the fact that he might keep the ball. He just ran right at him every play. Like,
00:27:33
Speaker
Yeah, you'd think you'd want to at least have somebody who's like the poor man's version of Lamar. They had Tyler Huntley in years past. They still haven't. He's their backup right now. Why is Tyler Huntley not starting over freaking Cooper Rush, dude? Exactly. like it's It almost looks to me like they're tanking the season at this point. like Dude, after that first half, i was like, okay, put Huntley in. Let's just see if they can get something going. like The Ravens just look like they're tanking the season out.
00:28:00
Speaker
Yeah, you got to. Tyler Huntley left for a little bit, right? Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah. So he went to the the Dolphins and the Browns and came back to the Ravens. OK, I knew I knew he'd left at some point. um Yeah, man, that may be what's happening with Baltimore. da They may be looking at, you know what, we've gone all in. I think really this year more than anything else, they've just been snake bit by injuries, man, on both sides of the ball.
00:28:21
Speaker
Injuries have done them in and it may be time for I don't think they're going through a rebuilding, but I think maybe a little bit of a retooling. And we see them try to get younger. And, hey, it's no no quicker, and no cheaper way of doing that than through the draft, man, getting some high draft picks. So maybe they can stock up with a class of high draft picks, come back better than ever next season. But, yeah, it feels like โ I wouldn't say the window's all the way shut, man, but it's it's kind of the thing. It's kind of just barely cracked open at this point ah for the Ravens. We'll see how aggressive they are in bringing Lamar Jackson back. I think that's going to be the true tell if they're just going ahead and selling on this season.
00:28:52
Speaker
or if they still think they got some hope, man, is how quickly we see Lamar Jackson back in the lineup. Because, you know, he's he's such a talent. If they really are cashing out on this one, it wouldn't shock me if, you know, we don't yeah we don't see him back for you know another a couple months, just let him get back to 100%.
00:29:06
Speaker
The biggest problem for this team, though, is not Lamar Jackson comes back. The biggest problem for this team is they can't stop anybody. like Oh, yeah. The defense has been putrid. How the fuck is their defense that bad, dude? They have...
00:29:17
Speaker
all pro caliber players at every level of that defense. Like I just, I don't get, I mean, they arguably have one of the best safeties in the league. Well, Jair Alexander is doing exactly what he did in green Bay. He either plays or he plays like shit or he gets hurt or he plays like shit. Like there's no if, ands or buts about this dude. You just know who, what you're getting. I do. We both said coming into the season that them and the Eagles have the two most loaded rosters and they're one in four. Like I don't know, man. I just i don't understand.
00:29:50
Speaker
Maybe... i mean, somebody was talking about the other night, and it's like, you can't envision this, but like maybe it is time for them to move on from Harbaugh. Maybe we just... we've they've We've gotten as far as we can at this point with him, and it's just...
00:30:04
Speaker
I mean, dude, you can't ever say that's not going to happen because the Eagles moved on from Andy Reid. Like, they just got to a point where it was like, okay, it's probably just time to move on. And the Ravens are run just about as well as any organization in football. So if they decide it's time to move on, who am I going to argue with them about it?
00:30:20
Speaker
Yeah. I'd say the big difference, he does got one ring, right? there's you guys For whatever reason, you know I would definitely put Andy Reid's tenure at Philly on par with har Harbaugh's tenure at Baltimore. But he did get the ring once, even though it was 13 years ago at this point. um ah nah and I know what you mean, man. At some point... when at some point getting to the second round or getting to the conference championship game just isn't isn't enough anymore. So I feel that, but I think Harbaugh is definitely good for this year. I think this year at the end of the day, if you, if you're really looking bad, this like this, uh, holistically as a Ravens, you got to say, are just injury luck just was not there this year.
00:30:55
Speaker
it, If they have another year similar next season where, you know, maybe there aren't the injuries there as the built-in excuse and they still struggle. Yeah, I think you could start so hearing that seed get hot because at this point he's going on eight. This is 18th season with the team. So every, you know, the Patriots eventually they soured on Bill Belichick. So it could happen with anybody over time.
00:31:12
Speaker
And, you know, it wouldn't be the most stunning thing in the world to see him just move on somewhere else. But but I think he's good for this year. Yeah. Okay, hu next Colts just absolutely demolished the Raiders.
Colts' Dominance Over Raiders
00:31:24
Speaker
The Colts are really good, but here is my question. Why is Geno Smith still the starting quarterback for the Raiders? He is god-awful at football at this point. Yeah, he's pitiful, man. They're not giving themselves a chance to win with him at quarterback. He's throwing terrible... He's got nine picks through five games. Like, that's not going to get it done.
00:31:43
Speaker
If I'm them, I'll make a phone call. Hey, what what would it take to get Russell Wilson out to Vegas for rest of the season, man? Get a little... ah Reunite him and Pete Carroll, man. it couldn't be Couldn't be worse than what you're getting for Geno. Why not try Kenny Pickett? This is the entire reason you traded for him in the offseason. Like, why... It can't be any worse than what you've got going right now. Like, I just...
00:32:01
Speaker
I don't know, man. these These teams are just wild to me. like you're I'm not saying that I thought the Raiders were going to be great, but I thought they were gonna be better than this at this point. Get Brady down from the owner's booth, man. Could you even fucking imagine?
00:32:14
Speaker
that would be Maybe that's maybe that's the ultimate plan here, dude. One more time. Right now, out of 55 qualifying quarterbacks through five weeks, Geno Smith is 43rd on Pro Football Focus. And the sad thing is, i actually think that's high, dude. If you told me he was 43rd at 55, I'd say, oh, that's not as bad as I thought it was.
00:32:31
Speaker
Yeah, well, I think that his haters officially wrote back now. I don't i don't think he can do that post-game press conference ever. They delivered certified mail, dude. Yeah, dude. The government's knocking at his door at this point.
00:32:45
Speaker
yeah ah Saints finally win a game. To me, this was more just about the Giants, just absolute futility in the third and fourth quarter. Cam Scadabo fumbles that ball.
00:32:56
Speaker
Jackson Dart makes some rookie mistakes. Like, i still don't think the Saints are good, but I mean, they did win the game, so good for them, and it did completely screw my parlay, but whatever.
00:33:07
Speaker
I think Kellen Moore is going be a good coach, man. I've been saying it all season, dude, that they got wrecked by the Seahawks. Other than that, the Saints been playing tough football, man. I think that โ I hope that they give him a fair shot, dude. I think given that couple years, man, I i think he's going to put together a winner down in New Orleans.
00:33:21
Speaker
They just got to get over all this salary cap shit and get all these old players off the books. Like, what are they waiting on to trade Kamara? Like, dude, somebody is โ a contender will take Kamara again. I think he could get a third-round pick for him. Maybe third or fourth. but I would be dumping him right now. I don't know what they're waiting on at this point.
00:33:40
Speaker
Spencer Rattler's playing pretty good ball. Do you realize Spencer Rattler, he's got a QB rate of 90 for the season, six touchdown passes against one interception. hasn't been bad. he's but Yeah, he's but you could do worse, right? Yeah, I don't think he's the franchise guy, man. you know I'm sure they're still probably eyeing next year's draft class, dude. But ah he hasn't been bad, though, man. Like I said, the the Saints are a team that I enjoy seeing him pop up on a red zone because, again, that Seahawks game notwithstanding, they've been playing pretty good football this year. It's never a team I enjoy seeing pop up anywhere, but yeah, carry
Jets' Performance Critique
00:34:08
Speaker
ah Speaking of teams that I don't ever want to see pop up, the Jets โ Dude, this is going be flirting with an all-time bad team. Like, they're not good at all. And everybody keeps talking about Justin Fields, and it's like, dude, you do realize 90% of his stats are coming in the fourth quarter when the games are all blowouts. Like, Justin Fields is not playing good football. Watch the first three quarters and tell me why they're down 30 points every game. He's not good, man. The three games, he hasn't gotten hurt.
00:34:38
Speaker
He threw for 266 yards, three touchdowns, no picks. 307 yards, two touchdowns, no picks, and 309 yards, two touchdowns, no picks, along with being the most dangerous ball carrier in the NFL, dude. The Justin Fields truthers are standing up. No, they're not.
00:34:53
Speaker
Watch the game. Yes, we are. Watch the game. They were down 34-6 going into the fourth quarter against one of the worst defenses in the nfl You're not standing anywhere. Yeah. Listen to this one. Here's somebody tweeting out in support of you, man. says, if you start Justin Fields in fantasy football, do not watch the game or check the live scores. Wait until the game's over and somehow 25 points are going to appear next to his name. It doesn't make sense. I'm not going to explain it. yeah I mean, that's facts, dude.
00:35:19
Speaker
He definitely gets production, dude. I agree with you, man. Series to series, he's just wildly inconsistent. And there's got to be a coach out there that can get this dude on offense and just unlock him because I see just ridiculous talent. But, yeah, I i will concede that he's not โ you don't need him dropping dropping back 30 times a game to throw the ball. No, and that's what they're trying to do, and it's just not going to work ever.
00:35:39
Speaker
Listen to this stat, dude. Justin Fields, when the opponent scores 21 or more points, he is 0-26 as a starter. he's never He's never won a game as a starting quarterback when the other team scores 21 points, man. That is really bad. Yeah, he's just miscast, bro. He needs to be an all-purpose weapon out there, man, instead of playing quarterback. Because I do think there's a good football player there. I think there's a great football player there. He's just not a good quarterback. Yeah.
00:36:06
Speaker
um Broncos beat Philly. Dude, this one was shocking to me because through through the first half, Philly looked like a machine in this game. They were moving the ball pretty well against the Broncos' defense.
00:36:18
Speaker
I do think the Broncos' record is a little... i don' I don't know. The Broncos have played a lot of really good teams, and I do think this team is really good. So them being 3-2 is not like a downside to me. The two games they lost were on last-second field goals. Yeah, the the Broncos are a really good team, but yeah Philly has got to get this figured out where they cannot run ah offense in the third and fourth quarters. I don't know what's going on, but something's going on in that team where they just do not โ I mean โ They must have taken advice from Raheem Morris or something. Just have your team nap at halftime and then come out and look like you've never played football because that's what they look like every week, dude. They come out in the second half and they just look lethargic like they've never played a game before.
00:37:00
Speaker
Yeah, something's definitely out of sync on the offensive side of the ball there, man. it's you know don't Don't start a GoFundMe for the pain and suffering of Philly fans because i they got they got enough infrastructure and enough talent there that they're going to get it turned around. But yeah, their offense is definitely a little bit of a slump. But if being 4-1 and losing one of the best teams in the AFC equals a slump, out to if if that's what my team's slump looks like, I would gladly take that, dude. Yeah, I'd be happy to be 4-1 right now.
00:37:25
Speaker
But yeah, I'm with the Broncos, dude. bra The Broncos are, you know, those those two losses they had had the the the more casual fans probably not clocking them. Dude, the Broncos are definitely a contender to win the AFC.
00:37:35
Speaker
They they I they are going to be a factor in January. Where's Bo Nix at on the quarterback ratings now? Because there's still a lot of things about him this season that have not looked great. Yeah, they've been a little bit off, you know, without knowing the X's and O's, man, it's hard to say ah exactly where, you know, how much of the blame is on him. But yeah, the offense hasn't been the offense has kind of just been there, whereas the defense has really been on point. Yeah, he's he's below Geno, bro. Bo Nix is 44 out of 55. You got to figure that's going to turn around. But yeah, it's not been a good season so far for the the second year QB. Yeah.
00:38:07
Speaker
um Bucks Seahawks this game was everything that I wanted it to be and more just a phenomenal game this was probably game of the weekend um I mean Monday night might have been but this game was definitely more exciting than the Monday night game so Baker's the man dude they just gone with the fans in the stands bro like he is exactly what you want out of a quarterback and it just it's still mind-boggling that the Browns picked Deshaun Watson over him Bro, the only thing about the Bucs that I do not understand is like they're just they're wildly inconsistent during the games. like Their offense is always good, but, dude, their defense just got shredded by Sam Darnold. I and don't understand this team at all. like
00:38:48
Speaker
We talked about it a couple weeks It might have even been last week. like They definitely have flaws, but, I mean, if you give them the ball with three or four minutes left in the game, you're most likely losing at this point. Yeah. Yeah. Do you not give that? pride He's probably the number one clutch player in the league right now. Oh, yeah. um Patriots beat the Bills on Sunday Night Football. We touched on it a little bit.
00:39:09
Speaker
This one was shocking to me, honestly. I thought the Bills were just going to put it to him. But, dude, Mike Brave will... Very good coach. Very good coach. Chicken salad out of chicken. Drake May is turning a corner too, man. Like yeah that game game, he made some plays that I didn't think Drake May was capable of making.
00:39:27
Speaker
Stefan Diggs looked fired up for one game at least. I'm sure he'll look like shit this week, but at least he gets fired up for the revenge games against the 18 teams that he's played for. ah Yeah.
00:39:38
Speaker
And then last night, Kansas City somehow losing the Jags.
Jaguars vs. Chiefs Game Analysis
00:39:43
Speaker
That was surprising to me, too. Not because they lost. It's just, I guess, like when it comes down to closing time, like usually you just expect Kansas City to win the game.
00:39:53
Speaker
Did you see the replay today of that Trevor Lawrence run, what Chris Jones was doing on that play? Yeah, that's weird because he's normally a freaking gamer, man. I don't know what. He didn't even move.
00:40:05
Speaker
maybe he Maybe he was assigned QB Spide in the middle. But you feel like if he hustles down the line of scrimmage, he's at least ah making ah some sort of impact there, making Trevor Lawrence work for it. But yeah, that was a that was just a star cross play, man. I thought I was about to win my fantasy game with an easy-peasy touchdown pass to Travis Hunter in the flats. Next thing I see, treor ah Trevor Lawrence falling down.
00:40:23
Speaker
Hell of an effort from him, dude, to fall down, slip, get back up, and still put it in the end zone. Because the thing is, man, it was 30 seconds. The clock was going to be running, dude. So they... Maybe they still pull it out, but they were going to be in a straight up like jailbreak. The house is on fire type situation if he got touched down um right there when when he fell down, man. So big win for the Jags.
00:40:43
Speaker
They're sitting there four and one, man. I like their coach, dude. ah You know, they got some impressive victories, dude. But for the four and one Jags, I don't know. I can't make my mind if this team's for real or not. I could still I could see them straight up reeling off four straight losses after this. But yeah, hell of a hell a start to the season for Jacksonville. For sure.
00:41:01
Speaker
All right, let's do our quarter season
MVP Race: Baker Mayfield vs. Josh Allen
00:41:03
Speaker
awards. We'll just run through these real quick. Who's your MVP a quarter of the way through the season? I got to go Baker Mayfield, dude. Josh Allen's still there, man. Josh Allen's the man.
00:41:13
Speaker
i feel like the Bucs would not be, ah you know, where they are, 4-1, if they didn't have Baker Mayfield. agree. I feel like the Bills, obviously it's a gigantic drop off from Josh Allen to literally anybody, but I feel like they would still be okay, man, whereas I feel like Baker Mayfield is single-handedly lifting this team up.
00:41:30
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. I i think that's just like kind of a runaway that he's the the MVP at this point. just He's played so well and just always keeps him in the game. But yeah, I agree with you on that.
00:41:43
Speaker
Rookie of the year. rookie of the year so far man i gotta keep it in tampa bay and go dig buka dude he's the freaking man like he is he's been good uh you know judkins got started a couple weeks late he's looked really really good for the brown since he came in tyler tyler warren has looked really good tyler warren's looking like a top five tight end already so those those are the three kind of in the mix man i think any three could win depending on how the rest of the season goes but I feel like those three have definitely separated themselves from the pack. I still feel like if you watch the games, Travis Hunter is the best player in this class. The Jaguars are just doing a very poor job utilizing him, man.
00:42:16
Speaker
The dude's electric when he gets the ball in his hands. I think Abdul Carter is one of the best players in this class, too. He has been really good so far, and he helps that Giants defense a lot. So, yeah, they this rookie class is better than what I thought it was going to be.
00:42:29
Speaker
ah Who is your best team through five weeks? Best I'm still going bills, man. The loss of the Patriots notwithstanding. I'm i give that credit to so my boy, Mike Vrabel. But I'm still going with the bills for the best team so far, dude. I think if if you had me put a mortgage payment on who's winning the Super Bowl right now, I'm going Buffalo all the way. and And I'm not thinking about it too much before I make that choice. I'm not basing it off who I think is going win the Super Bowl. I'm just basing it off the eye test and what I've seen so far. I'm going to Colts, man.
00:42:55
Speaker
like i yeah They should really be 5-0 right now. if You said the eye test. They leave me rubbing my eyes when I see like the scores and the highlights pop up on a
Colts' Strong Season Start
00:43:03
Speaker
Red Zone. like how How are they doing this, man? like What sort of black magic do they got going in Indy, man? We got freaking Mark Sanchez getting stabbed the night before games and shit. like What is going on there, man? It's got Indy rolling like this. The only thing I worry about with this team is if Danny Dimes turns back into a pumpkin one of these weeks. because i mean It could easily happen any time.
00:43:23
Speaker
i mean As of right now, like dude it's tough not to say they're not one of the best teams. yeah They've been dominating, man. um and The one game they lost, like they definitely should have won that, dude. yeah Most surprising team, good or bad?
00:43:36
Speaker
Colts, man, all the way, dude. I thought they were in the mix to be of the worst so far. ah So I'll go Colts. Ravens are there, obviously, but I feel like that's I can explain that one with the injuries. The Colts are like just it's completely unexplainable what the Colts have done so far this season.
00:43:49
Speaker
I'm going to go 49ers. They've dealt with a ton of injuries, and they're still four and one like Dude, there their point differential is plus 8 through 5 games, and they're 4-1.
00:44:03
Speaker
I think Shanahan's got a good shot at winning coach of the year, man, if they keep this up, dude, because they've been they're not too far behind the Ravens on the injury look so far this year, dude, but he he's still one of the best in the biz at coaching. For sure.
00:44:14
Speaker
All right, let's get into our picks.
00:44:25
Speaker
Yeah. Bridge over trouble. All right. How did we do last week? it This was a a mixed bag. um I went six and eight. You went eight and six. The two games we disagreed on, obviously you won both of them.
00:44:43
Speaker
So that brings it to I've won three weeks. You've won two weeks now. Let's go. It's time to even score. This was a tough week, dude. and like get I looked back at the games we picked, and this this really was a tough week. There's a lot of upsets this week.
Eagles vs. Jets Game Preview
00:45:00
Speaker
we'll kick it off. Thursday night football this week, we got the Eagles, the pissed off Eagles heading into New York. I think the Eagles roll. Yeah, I don't even think this is a game, honestly.
00:45:10
Speaker
Jackson Dart on a short week against that defense. It's going to be a rough night. More like Jackson Shirt he's going to be shitting his pants.
00:45:23
Speaker
I was about to make a joke about Jalen Hurts, so let's let's move on, dude. the yeah The Jets and Broncos. This one's in London. 8.30 Central Time kickoff. No no way the Jets win this, right? No. Broncos all the way.
00:45:37
Speaker
Browns and Steelers in Pittsburgh. Browns showed a little bit of life with Dylan Gabriel at QB. He looked okay, but the Steelers are feeling like they're go to end being the last man standing in the AFC North. They're the only team that's had the same starting quarterback every single week in the AFC North so far this year with the old man Rivers out there as ah Aaron Rodgers, man. I think the Steelers win get the 4-1.
00:45:56
Speaker
Does the NFL just like hate certain teams? Why the hell are the Browns playing this week? They were just in London. It's the Browns, man. Nobody cares. yeah they They don't care. I'm going Steelers as well. All right.
00:46:08
Speaker
The suddenly reeling Los Angeles Chargers, man. Losers are too straight. Now they got another tough one, dude. They are heading cross country for a noon kickoff against the Dolphins.
00:46:19
Speaker
Did you see that stat that I sent you about their offensive line? ah Yeah. everyone they're all Which is crazy because it seems like, you Harbaugh is known for having good O-lines. and they ah They're all hurt.
00:46:30
Speaker
yeah They lost Slater and Ault. Like, their two best linemen are both out for the year. Like, I just, I mean, they're not going to be able to do anything without those two guys. Yeah. Yeah, it's looking like it may. ah Those Super Bowl aspirations may end up falling short for Los Angeles. They look so good the first couple of weeks, too. Even still, they're beating the Dolphins on the road. I i just do not see them dropping three straight. And it's going to be 82 degrees down there, man. i think it's going to be hot in Miami. Two is playing pretty dang good, man. You act like it ain't hot in L.A., bro.
00:46:59
Speaker
Yeah, i guess. yeah The same as Miami Heat. I'll go Chargers, though. I don't think they dropped a three and three. Miami just lost to the Panthers when they were up 21 to seven. The Panthers are tough, bro. The Panthers hung 30 on the Falcons and shut them out. Yeah, and then look what happened to the Panthers the very next week. like The Panthers are not good, dude.
00:47:18
Speaker
All right, the 3-2 Patriots, dude. Somehow this freaking Vrabel has willed the Patriots to 3-2, heading down New Orleans to face the 1-4 Saints. I'm going Saints, man. I've been up on the Saints. I think they beat the Patriots. I'm going Patriots. i I think their defense is going to shut them down.
00:47:34
Speaker
Rams and Ravens in Baltimore. This could be the knockout blow for the Ravens. I think the Rams get it done, man. and They've struggled against some of these offenses that have been hanging big points on There's no telling what McVay and Stafford are going to do. I think the Rams knock the Ravens out once and for all. Yeah, I'm going to Rams as well.
00:47:49
Speaker
Cards and Colts in Indy, man. Are the Colts really about to be 5-1? They are. They're beating the the Cardinals for sure. Jeez. Yeah, it's sadly, I got agree, man. I cannot believe I'm saying that.
00:48:00
Speaker
This is going to be a good one, dude. Probably the best game in the early window, man. The three and two Seahawks heading down to Jacksonville to face the Jags, dude. I think the Jags are ripe for a letdown, man. Freaking, you know, coming off a gigantic win. Even though beating the Chiefs doesn't mean what it has in years past, that's still a big win, dude. Especially in prime time. Eyes the nation on you. That that that felt like a big emotional victory for these guys. And then you got a tough Seahawks team coming to town.
00:48:27
Speaker
I think the cross country flight is enough to kind of ah put them back on even playing field though. And I think the Jags get the win and get the five and one.
00:48:36
Speaker
You've been hiring the Seahawks than I am, man. Can't, can't they go into Jacksonville and get this upset? Yeah, I'm going go Seahawks. I just โ I still cannot buy that the Jags are actually this good. I just โ I don't know, man. There's just something โ like the eye test, like just watching them. like way i just I don't think that they're that good. and Yeah, you take away that โ I feel like they run that play ten times. Patrick Mahomes โ nine of them, Patrick Mahomes does not throw a 99-yard pick six, but he just so happened to make that fatal mistake last night, and that changed the game.
00:49:04
Speaker
Yeah. The Cowboys facing the previously mentioned Panthers, man. I think the Cowboys win to get back above 500. Wild that this team is going to be back above 500, but I agree with you. i think the Cowboys win.
00:49:19
Speaker
Dak is playing very, very good, man. He's another guy that if they if the Cowboys can put together a little bit of a streak here, man, he could potentially get in the mix for for MVP. He's already at 1,300 yards passing, 10 touchdowns on the season. He's slinging it, man.
00:49:31
Speaker
Yeah, against only three picks also, man. so And, dude, George Pickens, man, like when he's โ he's definitely a Hall of Fame crash out type guy, but when he's on it, dude, like when he's at his best, he might be a top five receiver in the league, dude. He's really good. Dude is โ Yeah, he's he's incredible, man, when he's when he's locked in. But he's just, ah like so many great receivers through the years, dude, he's just very volatile, man.
00:49:53
Speaker
Yep. Heading to the late window, toilet bowl of the week, Titans at Raiders. Fuck it. Titans are winning two straight, man. Break up the Titans, dude. titans are Titans get to two and four out in Vegas.
00:50:06
Speaker
dude, as sad as it is, I think I agree with you. I just, Geno Smith is so bad right now. I just, I don't see how they continue down this path, but I guess it's going to go another week. So I'll go Titans as well.
00:50:18
Speaker
This could end up being the nail in the coffin for the Geno Smith era in, ah in Vegas, man, at the Titans win this one. Yeah. Dude, big time game in the late window. I'm expecting playoff atmosphere from this. The Niners at the bucks, man in Tampa, uh,
00:50:32
Speaker
You know, the Niners have one of the best traveling fan bases in the country, so i'm sure it's going to be a bunch of Niners fans there. I'm expecting just a really intense playoff-type atmosphere in this one, as close as you can get in October.
00:50:42
Speaker
How do you see this one going, Jordan? I'm going to go with the Bucs, man. i just I think the cross-country flight, the the injuries for the Niners and stuff, I just think it's going to be too much for them to overcome against this Bucs team that just wills their team to victory every week. So I'm going to Bucs.
00:50:59
Speaker
Do we know, is Brock Purdy coming back? I hope we're not. I mean, they win without him. I didn't see yet, though, this week if he was going play. Let me pull the latest on Brock Purdy, man. See what it's looking like. and It looks like... Yeah, it looks like...
00:51:17
Speaker
it looks like Brock is still going to be out at least one more week, man. They've they've come out. the first ah the The first sign that there's a QB controversy brewing is that they came out and publicly stated today there's not a QB controversy. So keep an eye on that situation, man. that You know, Mac Jones at 900 yards passing, six touchdowns, at one interception in his stint as the Niner starter.
00:51:38
Speaker
I think Niners get it done, man. I think the Bucs have been riding the lightning this year, and I think their luck runs out. I think this is going to be probably the best game of the week, but I think the Niners pulled off in a close one. All right. All right, Bengals and Packers in Green
Lions vs. Chiefs Game Prediction
00:51:51
Speaker
Bay. I think the Packers wreck them.
00:51:52
Speaker
We didn't even mention it. The Bengals traded for Joe Flacco. Apparently, they think this is what's going to write their season is Joe Flacco at the ripe age of 48 or whatever he is. i I mean, dude, they're trying something, but like Joe Flacco behind that offensive line might die in a week. like i I don't think that's a good good trade for them. They needed somebody that can move.
00:52:15
Speaker
Somebody said Joe Flacco's hitting all the AFC North teams like he's a like he's collecting Infinity Stones. He just needs to go to the Steelers next. let me Yeah, I'm going Packers as well. All right. ah Lions and Chiefs in Kansas City. I think the Lions get it done, man. The Chiefs get dropped down to 2-4. Chiefs are still somehow 2.5-point favorites in this.
00:52:33
Speaker
But just, again, going off the eyeball test, the Lions have looked a lot better. Since that that week one's looked like it was just a one-off, man. And the the the last four games, the Lions have looked like the Lions team we've known from the last two seasons. So yeah I think they take care of the Chiefs. man it' still It's going to be a big game. It's always going to be tough beating Mahomes, man. It's never going to be an easy out, but I think they get it done. Yeah, I agree. I think the Lions win and send the Chiefs to two and four, which who would have thought we'd be saying that in week six.
00:52:59
Speaker
All right, doubleheader on Monday night. We're going to start with the late game. Bears and Commanders in D.C. I think i think Commanders roll. Yeah, I think the Commanders win as well. All right, and then the Bills in Atlanta against the Falcons. Should be a good game, man. Pissed off Josh Allen.
00:53:13
Speaker
Yeah, Falcons are a home a home dog, dude. The Bills are three-and-a-half-point favorites in this one. Make the case, Jordan. How can the Falcons beat the Bills on Monday Night Football? I mean, I don't know if you watch the Bills' defense on Sunday night, but the Bills' defense isn't exactly lighting the world on fire right now.
00:53:32
Speaker
But will the Falcons be able to take advantage of Falcons off a bye. God damn it, dude. I do not want to pick the Falcons in this game, but... I'm not picking them. I'm going Bills, man. I'm going Falcons.
00:53:46
Speaker
All right, you got to, dude. This would be a big win, man. It feels like this could be the, you know, I feel like maybe sometimes as fans, we put too much stock into the one-off games as opposed to the players the people in the building do.
Falcons vs. Bills Game Preview
00:53:59
Speaker
But i to me, man, just as a fan looking at it, this feels like it could be like a turning point in the season if they could take down ah Josh Allen and and the Bills on Monday Night Football. I'm not saying it's likely. i just...
00:54:10
Speaker
I don't know, man. Watching that game the other night, like I still don't feel like the Patriots are great. And well, the bill, that's my that's another thing, dude. The bills just had a really bad. I think the bills played very bad or, you know, just, you know, subpar, maybe bad's a little strong, but they definitely not play their best game.
00:54:27
Speaker
Do you think that's going to happen two weeks in a row? I know. You know what i mean? It's the NFL, man. These guys all get paid money to play the game. like True. I'm just, yeah, I'm going bills, but i'll be i'll be there will be a smile on my face if I'm wrong about that one and the Falcons get the win.
00:54:42
Speaker
ah Let's hit million dollar bets. Okay. Yeah. I got money. Me and me. Money in the bank.
00:54:57
Speaker
All right. I was another loser last week as both not just one, but both teams that I bet on Vanderbilt and Florida State both let me down and couldn't get it done. So I lost another 50K.
00:55:09
Speaker
I'm still living large off that one parlay that I hit early on in the season, man. I'm setting at one million one hundred and thirty eight thousand dollars for the year. I lost as well. I put $25,000 on Purdue.
00:55:22
Speaker
Did not happen. I mean, dude, all all of my choices would have lost, so it didn't matter. It's not like missed them. Just think if you would have bet UCLA, dude. I think if you would have zero chance, any of us was thinking that was possible.
00:55:36
Speaker
Yeah. Jordan's down to 700 K for the year. He's got some making up to do this year. i got on the wheel of death gave me fourth year senior. So that means I got to pick four top 25 college games against the spread. I am picking Oregon to cover seven and a half points against Indiana.
00:55:53
Speaker
I'm picking Iowa state to cover three points against Colorado. and I'm picking thing. I thought I had, I thought I sent you the other one. Hold on second. did. I am picking...
00:56:06
Speaker
South Florida to cover one a half points against North Texas. And im picking Alabama to cover three points against Missouri. That 14 parlay, I'm putting down $100,000. It will pay out $1,377,000. So I could just about put a bow on this thing for the season if ah if this thing hits, man.
00:56:21
Speaker
Jordan, he got all AFC. He's got to pick a money line winner in each division. Run down your teams. All right. So I'm going go Broncos over the Jets. Rock solid. Colts over the Cardinals.
00:56:34
Speaker
I think there's not quite rock solid, but pretty solid Steelers over the Browns could be a wild card and then Patriots over the Saints, which is definitely toss up game. But dude, the problem is, is like I was looking at the AFC East and I'm like, well, i can't pick the fucking Jets. I'm not picking the bills against the Falcons because I refuse to do that. ah It's just tough. But ah yeah, either way, 75,000 would net me 264,089 dollars. all right, Jordan, do we get any listener mail for this week? We do have listener mail.
00:57:04
Speaker
All right. First question from our buddy Sam Rosenthal. How do you think all the upsets and comebacks happened this week? I lost my Survivor League with the Cardinals. You're not a alone, man. I know a lot of people got bumped out of Survivor this week.
00:57:19
Speaker
Dude, it's the NFL, man. I just said it. like There's just so much parody in the NFL. These guys are getting paid week over week. And, I mean, dude, these guys are are all fighting for a job, um especially on these bad teams. like These guys are fighting for a place on the team next year.
00:57:34
Speaker
And, I mean, this is just going to happen every once a while. College? don't I seriously still don't know how to explain Texas and Penn State losing. That was wild to me. i I don't really think I can explain those two. Yeah. ah You know, end the day, it's just parody, man. I think these teams are so close that we we see these brands. We see these teams as brands, so it seems like huge upsets. But really, you know, it's typically, especially in the NFL, it's really a handful plays here and there that decide these games.
00:58:01
Speaker
Yeah. We got two from our buddy Zach Hertzler. First one, who do you think will win the World Series? Well, I did make Seth do his ah Major League Baseball picks last game. Go Mariners.
00:58:12
Speaker
How's it looking so far, dude? You're doing all right. the The Mariners and the Tigers are tied 1-1 in their series, and then the Brewers are up 2-0 against the Cubs right now. So you're you're looking okay on that. And that's the divisional, right? They still got to go to the championship series. It's basically quarterfinals. Yeah. yeah Okay. I'm going to say Dodgers. I know it's a boring pick, but they just look like a machine at this point.
00:58:34
Speaker
Biggest upset of this weekend, I'm going Penn State losing to UCLA. I just i don't. Yeah, that's a shocker, bro. It's literally, I mean, the stat is almost mind-boggling,
Historic College Football Game
00:58:43
Speaker
dude. Jordan, think about everything that's happened from the moment that you exited your mother's birth canal to this moment right now.
00:58:49
Speaker
That's how long it's been since a team that was 0-4 or worse beat a top-10 team in college football, Yeah, man. It had literally been since 1985 since that happened, and that's exactly what went down in ah Pasadena over the weekend. Yeah, it's
Division Trade Implications: Joe Flacco Case
00:59:01
Speaker
Last question from Tony Barker. How do you feel about teams making trades within the division among rivals? I hate this. like He's obviously talking about Joe Flacco getting traded to the Bengals.
00:59:13
Speaker
ah There's no way you can ever convince me. i swear to you, if there's ever a trade, like a big-time trade between the Falcons and Saints, I will be
Impact of Division Trades Debate
00:59:23
Speaker
furious. like either're just and trading in your division is absolutely wild to me uh if it's like middle of the season man and like it's a key player i get it but like i don't know man i i i think it's i don't think it's that big a deal man especially if it's somebody like joe flacco who's past their prime but in the end the joe flacco trade i don't think is moving the needle for the bangles like i don i don't i don't feel 100 better about the bangles now that they got joe flacco yeah
00:59:50
Speaker
What's what's something like the I'm trying to think like the most high profile cases. I remember when
High-Profile Past Trades Recollection
00:59:54
Speaker
Donovan McNabb got traded from the Eagles to the Redskins. That was a really big deal. And then that turned out to be a nothing burger. I think McNabb got benched before the end of that first season with the with the skins, man. But yeah, I you know, I don't like it either, man, as as a fan.
01:00:07
Speaker
But I don't think it ends up tending to change either team's fortunes that much, man. Yeah, I agree, man. It's just. You never want to give your, and especially if you're at the bottom, bro, and you're kind of just like selling on the season.
01:00:19
Speaker
You never want to be the reason, like given the piece that puts you like your rival over the hump and end up making a freaking run all the way to the championship or something. Okay, I just
Controversial Trades Discussion
01:00:27
Speaker
looked this up. New England trading Drew Bledsoe to the Bills for a first round pick.
01:00:31
Speaker
The McNabb to the Redskins won. um The Patriots trading for Welker from the Dolphins. That was a bad one, dude. The freaking Dolphins. Even though the Patriots ended up getting a ring with him, dude. He was a tremendous player for the Patriots for about five years, and the Dolphins just gift-wrapped him. I think it was like a third or fourth-round pick that they got for Wes Walker.
01:00:52
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely wild. But, yeah, I mean, yeah yeah depending on what the trade is, whatever. But,
Closing Thoughts and Farewell
01:00:59
Speaker
yeah, I don't want the Falcons ever helping the Saints in any way. That's it, man.
01:01:04
Speaker
That's a wrap for this episode. Jordan, hit us with some closing thoughts, and we'll get out of here. Again, man, just take care of yourselves. Enjoy some football this week, and we'll see you guys next week.
