What is up, Foley fam? We are back with another live PLE reaction podcast. We did this right after SummerSlam. It seemed like it was pretty well received by you guys. We're going to run it back here for Clash. We had our good buddy, the OG Fig Kid, with us for SummerSlam, but now we got the real OG, the last OG, Jordan, joining us. Jordan, what's going on, dude?
00:00:42
Speaker
Not too much. Just ah yeah ready to talk a little bit ah afternoon wrestling. And we have, of course, the star of the show, Sheena. How are you doing? You know, this this felt good. It was a nice afternoon of wrestling. um we We're coming off a super busy weekend. We had birthday celebration. We had family

in town. We kicked another football team's butt for my little son's little So we've had we've had a big weekend, and just to kind of like put a bow on it, well, guess we've got tomorrow too, Labor Day. This is a holiday weekend. we so We still have a ah weekday weekend per se, but ah you know kicking off Sunday with some afternoon wrestling, just kind of relax around the house felt pretty good.
00:01:20
Speaker
So full disclosure, we do got to go a little bit no huddle offense on this one. Me and Jordan have a fantasy football draft kicking off in approximately 46 minutes from the time we hit the and And it's an important one. to tell you know Give them a look for the new listeners. you know It's not just like you know some work league something. If you haven't listened to the goal line, which can be found right here on this feed, dropping every Tuesday morning, make sure you guys check that out for all your football news.
00:01:42
Speaker
But me and Jordan are in a fantasy football league that goes back 20 years, man. So we've got some serious history, rivalries, like legacy. like it just It makes it really fun. So this thing's legit. Jordan was the last new member.
00:01:54
Speaker
to join, and that was over a decade ago. So this is like the freaking, you know, the exclusive of exclusive fantasy football leagues.

Like people get in this league and they don't leave. So yeah it's been a lot of fun, man. um We're both going to, my dad's actually the the defending champ right now. So we're going to take him out this year.
00:02:09
Speaker
And yeah, but that's going down in about 45 minutes now. So I don't want to waste any more time. want to remind you guys, this podcast is brought to you by Ringside Collectibles.

00:02:21
Speaker
And we're ready to talk some wrestling. Let's Let's do it. So I'm thinking we kind of go match by match and then we give our overall thoughts on the show at the end. I think that'll hit a little bit better than, ah you know, going, going the opposite order thoughts.
00:02:33
Speaker
Yeah. I'm here for it. All right, let's go. All right. So let's kick it off. We opened the show. Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns was fighting Bronson Reed, big Bronson Reed with Paul Heyman, you know, as the wingman in a, in a singles match for, ah you know, the true tribal thief versus tribal chief.
00:02:52
Speaker
Yeah, so in true modern WWE PLE fashion, I think it was, I was clocking it. I want to say it was 22 minutes. 22.05. The show started at 1 o'clock central.
00:03:03
Speaker
I think you said it was 1.25? 22.05. No, no, I'm not talking about the match length. I'm talking about what time the opening bell rang. Oh, I don't know. I think we were 22 minutes into the broadcast. when the opening bell rang on the match. So that's obviously a little bit annoying, dude. I like a little bit hype. little annoying?
00:03:18
Speaker
I like a little bit of hype, but like between, you know, Roman's got one the, you know, he's basically taking over the Undertaker for the the longest entrance in wrestling. And today he had the longest exit. Yeah, between his entrance and, um you know, the normal WWE pomp and circumstance, it was just a long time to get going today, ah which is fine on an afternoon show. In the evening time, would been pretty annoyed. I thought the match was pretty good, man. I thought the match was actually really good. Probably Bronson Reed's best match. Roman did what Roman does.
00:03:43
Speaker
Dude, I think Roman is a bigger star than he's ever been, man, which is crazy to say after a three and a half year round reign. Pretty nuts, dude. But it just seems like it's all the work he did during that title reign that's gotten to this point and even before that. But it just feels like everything he does is just huge now, man, and the crowd is just going nuts. This is only his fourth match in 2025, dude. Yeah, so they got him to where they needed him to be, and now the way they're using him is just excellent. Because it's like, you know, all he did was go out and have basically a house show match, and then get beat down afterwards. But the crowd's just in a frenzy for all things Roman right now.
00:04:16
Speaker
Yeah, he all he he literally held up the Shulafala, and the the crowd went absolutely bonkers, dude. Jordan, if you get one of those shoes, man, is that going on eBay or is that going in the personal collection? That's going on eBay immediately. like I was i so stoked. like I feel like I'm throwing it on eBay and then I'm taking some of that money and buying like a cheaper Roman momentmento like memento to to display. But but da Literally signed Jordan on the PLE,
Wyatt Six and Street Profits Discussion
00:04:45
Speaker
man. Like, yeah what a freaking item to get a hold of, Yeah, that's... I mean, that would be a hell of an item to add in the collection. But, yeah, I agree with you. It was a good match. ah
00:04:55
Speaker
I just think the Roman thing, too, is, dude, they just have so few tippy-top stars, you know? like good Yeah. Like Roman, mean, anytime he comes back, it's going to feel special now just because, i mean, he is one of their top five biggest stars they got. So it's just always going to feel special when he comes out.
00:05:12
Speaker
To me, ah dude, I really feel and kind of like that like you know S tier or whatever right now, dude. It's like Roman, Seth, Punk, and you know Cody, man. Maybe you want those Cena in there? Cena's on the way out there. Who'd you say? Rhea's in there too.
00:05:25
Speaker
Yeah, Rhea for the females. Yeah, yeah. On the men's side though, yeah. I feel like it's those four and then we got Cena who's on the way out and Brock who – I feel like Brock's probably wrestling Cena and then disappearing out into the Canadian wilderness again. Yeah, I think this is a swan song too, man. Yeah, I think we're getting a one-off from Brock, man.
00:05:39
Speaker
Yeah. But yeah yeah, it just seems huge, man, everything that those guys got going on. So i kind of agree with Sheena. I thought the whole the whole production with Roman today, they probably could have shaved about 12 to 15 minutes off of it, and I think it would have hit just the same. But um it was still pretty cool. I thought it was a well-executed beatdown.
00:05:58
Speaker
yeah Yeah, I mean, I know they want to make it a big deal. Like if they're going write Roman off to you for a little while or whatever they're doing, they want to make sure that you know they they properly – um was the word I'm looking for. Like, enunciate the beatdown by having all the stretcher and all the pomp and circumstance, but still, it
Becky Lynch vs Nikki Bella
00:06:17
Speaker
was just... Jimmy coming out after it had already been going on 10 minutes just fucking irritated me. I'm like, what the fuck is the point of coming out now? He's basically dead. Why are baby faces like this in wrestling, dude? Yeah, it breaks kayfabe for me, man. So we had it in this one. Like I said...
00:06:34
Speaker
i was starting I was annoyed because I was like, where the heck is Jay at, right? you know I'm like, where where is Jay at in all this, dude? Yeah, we know he's here. Yeah, I'm like, well, whatever, dude. I guess in my mind, okay, he's getting ready for the main event or he's not at the building yet.
00:06:47
Speaker
And then it turns around and just changes into, oh, well, he shows up after Roman's already gotten the living shit beat out of him. Saw the same thing at Forbidden Door last weekend, dude. Darby Allin, all right, this guy literally just got back from climbing Mount Everest, but he can't be bothered to climb over the top of the steel cage and help Will Ospreay because getting murdered by the Death Riders. Like,
00:07:02
Speaker
I know this is a thing going back, like, you know, as long as wrestling has been around, right. The baby faces are always super slow to help the other baby faces, but, but yeah, very good point, Jordan. Like I, it stuck out big time because, because Roman and Jay kind of had a moment on raw, you know what I mean? Like they've kind of like somehow like deep in their bond over the last couple weeks. Seems like it's
Rusev vs Sheamus Highlights
00:07:20
Speaker
like, you know, they're like the super bloodline, right? Just those two.
00:07:23
Speaker
And you think Jay would be right there as Roman started getting beat down. Roman had said on the pre-show that he was going to be in Jay's corner for the main event, but Jay somehow was like, you know, off eating somewhere. And like, somebody was like, Hey Jay, you see what's happening out in the arena? And he just takes off. In my mind, that's what happened, man.
00:07:36
Speaker
But yeah, it's but yeah i dude, um it was kind of rough. Yeah, okay. Are we moving on to the next match? Well, I was going to say, dude, I'm trying to find a picture of it right now, dude. They need to talk to the French medics, man.
00:07:48
Speaker
um Did you guys see the way that Roman was strapped up on that on the stretcher, dude? Like, it would have made a bondage, like, you know, fetishist, like, H-A-R-D, man. They had every strap on that, dude. They had it going across his belly. Like, I think, I want to say a they had a strap going across his neck. Like, dude, it's wrestling. Just lay him on there and wheel him out, man. They had this dude strapped up like he was going on a freaking lifelike. Listen, you're used to the American healthcare system.
00:08:10
Speaker
um You know, you go you go somewhere else, they actually care about the the people that
Cena vs Logan Paul Analysis
00:08:15
Speaker
they're caring for. No, dude. Look, they had his arms tied in, dude. And then I say when they started moving, they had his neck strapped up. Like, bro, like they take it easy on Roman, man. i was afraid they were going hurt him. They had him strapped up so tight.
00:08:26
Speaker
oh god that they really missed the boat not having bronson pick up the the stretcher and have bron spear him through it they really missed the boat that would have good spot i thought it would have been relatively safe too man like i don't think that i think you could have done that relatively safely yeah that would have been sick they missed the boat on that one i felt like today was the day to bust that one out All right, we got a do we think Last thing, do we think we see Roman before War Games, or is that the next time we we see some sort of ah some sort of coalition come together to take on the on the vision at War Games? He's for sure gone for the next six weeks, so, I mean, no, probably not.
00:09:03
Speaker
Because he's got to film his Street Fighter parts now.
00:09:07
Speaker
All right, we got a tag team match for the tag team titles. The Wyatt Six, Joe Gacy, and Dexter Loomis against the Street Profits, who were wearing... some freaking, you know, Borderlands.
Seth Rollins Main Event
00:09:22
Speaker
worked, dude. Our son, we were watching with our eight-year-old little boy and he immediately said, I really want to play Borderlands now, dude. So that's exactly why they do it, man. But I'm with you. It's kind of lame. So I think, you know,
00:09:32
Speaker
Whatever. if they're gonna Clearly they're doing this. You got find a way to make it more organic, dude. Instead of just like out of nowhere, like with no prior track laid, all of a sudden they're going to come out in Borderlands. Let the New Day do it, right? It's established that Xavier's a huge video game nut. Like something like that works, man. But like...
00:09:49
Speaker
This was similar to Drew coming out with the Doom gear at WrestleMania. Exactly. And my thing is, is like I hope for you know the talent's sake that they're getting some sort of like compensation for just being walking billboards for you know these products, dude. like I feel like it's just like...
00:10:05
Speaker
I do not like this. I thought the bill-to-bill action was pretty good. I'm questioning the booking on the Wyatt Six. like like Jordan, do you think they're turning these guys heel? Because this is the second straight big match at POE where like they straight up cheated to win. It's not like you know they've cheated because the other guys are cheating. like They are straight up just cheating to win at this point. You you heard the Boo Birds coming out at SummerSlam with all the interference from these guys.
00:10:28
Speaker
um Didn't hear it so much tonight, man. But I feel like if I'm a fan just tuning in, like this isn't some like babyface tribute act. like These guys are straight up just bad guys now. I mean, it definitely feels like that's what they should be at this point. Like, yeah they're going to be the scary act for the next two months for spooky season. So, like, might as well make them heels. But I thought the Wyatt Six entrance was the best part of the whole match, honestly. Yeah, it was cool. Wyatt Six is awesome. I feel like they should have just, ah they should have been heels from the start, dude. I know, again, with the Bray tribute, like, there was just no way they were going to get booed in the beginning.
00:10:59
Speaker
But, dude, these guys were meant to be heels from the start, dude. Like, it's just... A spooky, weird, culty faction, dude. like that like What part of that screams babyface to you? You know what i mean? So I hope they turn them heel and I hope it hope it works.
00:11:12
Speaker
Have you guys seen the pictures from the Wyatt Six house at Universal Halloween Horror Nights? Yes. I have not, no. It's Yeah, i would I would love to freaking, it would be, if I lived a little bit closer, man, it it would be worth it just to freaking, just to go that. It looks so incredible.
00:11:29
Speaker
yeah the Have you ever been to Horror Nights, Jordan? I have not. we've We've never been to Universal or Disney during Halloween or Christmas. I mean, it's definitely on the bucket list, but no, I've never done it. and Yeah, i'm not I mean, I'm not even like a huge like you know person who's like, oh, Disney and all that stuff. Like Universal was cool,

00:11:45
Speaker
but I really want to go check out Horror Nights sometime, dude.
00:11:48
Speaker
They're doing something in Chicago this year. I still need to figure out what it is, but they're doing like a Hollywood Horror Nights in Chicago. I just, i kind of got to figure out what it is and maybe we'll go do it this year. Who knows? There's actually gorilla position in the... it's It literally is the exact the thing where they they debuted. It's exactly that is what you're walking through. Oh, yeah. And then they got Bray's chair and the lantern at the end. it looks really get the Firefly Funhouse in there. Like, yeah, this thing's going to be amazing.
00:12:18
Speaker
Yeah, didn't they, when they debuted, wasn't that when everybody was like laid out dead in the back of the, year yeah, so how were those guys ever supposed to be babyfaces? Braun was shot in the head. Yeah, yeah, you know, I had totally blocked that out. They murdered Gable.
00:12:31
Speaker
Yeah. Oh yeah, Chad Gable was like totally bloody and laid out. Yeah. Braun being shot in the and then coming back the next week like nothing even happened was the greatest thing ever. Yeah.
00:12:43
Speaker
Um, next match we had Becky Lynch defeated Nikki Bella, uh, in the intercontinental championship match. What were your thoughts on, uh, of all the matches I've ever seen? This was um one that I saw this afternoon, man.
00:12:55
Speaker
You know what i mean? Like it was just, it was a bad match. It wasn't offensively bad. i felt like the potential was there with, with Nikki being as rusty as she is. And, And Becky, I love her She's still my favorite women's wrestler. But, dude, she's – I think the time off from the baby really did a number on just her athleticism, which already wasn't great, and then just her work rate. Like, you know, I've told Jordan this before, dude. Like, to me, she moves like late-era Matt Hardy, right? That's, like, the – that's the movement she has. And she had a lot of injuries before, right? Like, she took a seven-year break off from her wrestling career, was a flight attendant because the injuries were so bad. And, you know, when she was younger, she wrestled a pretty high-impact style. So she's just –
00:13:32
Speaker
I think she's you know she's got some serious numbers up on her bump card. um So I thought this match had some train wreck potential. It wasn't that. It was kind of just it was a match, dude. h What do you see for the future for Nikki Bella? Do you think she's ah you know going to be one of the top top women stars, or is she just kind of here for a ah retro
Streaming Services Debate
00:13:54
Speaker
Um, no, I don't think she's staying around for, I mean, i think she'll do it the rest of this year and then I think she'll leave again. don't, I don't see this being a long-term thing. Like Seth said, this was just kind of a match. There wasn't really much to it at all.
00:14:08
Speaker
Speaking of just kind of a match, Rusev defeated Sheamus in a good old-fashioned Donnybrook match. I don't think this was just kind match. liked this. This was borderline show stealer, dude. I liked the match, too. I just thought. Yeah, I don't know where the shade's coming from on that intro. I thought this match fucking rock, dude. Had no business being as good it was. I think I'm bitter because I picked Sheamus for the pick's sake. Oh, okay.
00:14:28
Speaker
That makes sense. And Rusev. For those in the Foley Picks League, for our Foley fan, Patreon exclusive Facebook group members, Sheena had an absolute stinker today. She went from kind in the middle the pack. I had a perfect card up until then, though, dude. Yeah, but then it all went off the rails after that. Jordan, she's, so she finished. It didn't go the rails. I picked Sheena and I picked Rollins, too, dude. But you missed all the bonus picks, though, dude. You missed every single bonus pick down the stretch. She is now, Jordan, she's the bottom person above the cut line for starting off, man, for next week. So you're on the chopping block as of now for whatever our next event happens to be. But I thought this match was cool, man. You know, obviously both these guys can straight up go once the bell rings. These are two guys who are probably underpushed right now in WWE. I think they're like, I think they're main event caliber talents.
00:15:12
Speaker
um but there's just no room for him. ah But I thought the match was great, dude. I love some of the some of the spots they set up, the freaking accolade on top of the whiskey barrels, yeah dude. How sick was that, man?
00:15:24
Speaker
Rusev had to win this match, dude. like I just feel like if he loses this match, it just it goes really off the rails from here. yeah i still don't think they have anything for him, but i mean i just I feel like he loses this match. There is nothing for him at this point.
00:15:40
Speaker
Dude, you know where I think would be a great place for him, man? Something he hasn't done yet. Obafemi is basically unstoppable. He's beaten everybody there is down in NXT, but he's due to come up to the main roster probably around Rumble time. they'd Send Rusev down for a little stint in NXT. I don't think Obafemi would lose nothing if he lost a hard-fought match to Rusev and give Rusev the Dolph Ziggler treatment. let him Let him be the NXT champ for a few months and see what happens with it.
00:16:02
Speaker
Yeah, I wouldn't hate that. But yeah, I thought the match was great. I thought they had some really cool spots, some awesome visuals, dude. Going off the whiskey barrels through the table, like holy shit, man. that
Enjoying Wrestling Varieties
00:16:13
Speaker
was I mean, they they were going hard, dude. Yeah, when Rusev threw Sheamus through the bar whatever, like dude, that was crazy.
00:16:21
Speaker
Yeah, I thought this was, I mean, as far as WWE matches go, that's about as violent and as hard as you're going to get in an ODQ match. All right. John Cena defeated Logan Paul in a singles match. Dude, I don't know what it is, man. Something about turning back baby face just lit a fire under John Cena's ass. I think this is back-to-back match of the year contenders. The one with Cody was a definite match of the year contender. This was probably borderline. you you at least got a It's probably like a top 10 WWE match.
00:16:49
Speaker
Not an overall all-of-wrestling match of the year candidate, but I thought this was great, dude. And Like, Wade Barrett nailed it at the end of it, man. Anybody saying that Logan Paul isn't a wrestler, doesn't belong here, like, they're just they're just hating him. I agree. Like, he's got a close mind. He's so freaking good, man. He is good. At the actual moves and just, you know, telling the story through the match, I thought this was great.
00:17:08
Speaker
And as far as celebrities go, I mean, I feel like he's had the most longevity of any celebrity that we've I mean, he's basically a wrestler now, dude. He's, like, here week to week. It's not like a it's like a big deal when he drops in or anything. Exactly. He's just kind of there, man. But...
00:17:21
Speaker
I thought this was great, dude. If if this is what we're going to get from Cena in the last handful of matches, like sign me up, man. I thought this was fun. It was super nostalgic. and And we got to see Super Cena beat the heel, dude. And we got to see the the full redemptive circle with with the little boy in the crowd from when he turned heel.
00:17:37
Speaker
ah that was That was awesome, dude. That fucking little kid with his phone in his hand the whole time while John Cena's talking to him. It's like, Jesus Christ, bro, you don't need to record it. It's on TV.
00:17:48
Speaker
Cena told us he's toxic, man. Like, dude, come on, man. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Cena told us he's toxic, dude. Cena never lied to us. Dude, put your phone down. Exactly. Like, you're going to be able to record it on TV. Don't worry. Everybody yeah in the world saw you on TV v with John Cena that night. like Yeah. They didn't get a POV angle, you know what mean? yeah I know, but it would have hit so much freaking, it would have hit so much better he was just having that moment.
00:18:12
Speaker
yeah Yeah, if he's having that moment with John Cena. But yeah I'm not going to judge him, right? like you know that's That's kids these days, dude, so you can't help it. That's kids these days. The

parents should have been smart enough to know, like hey, don't give his phone. like Just let let the moment happen. You're going to get a moment on TV with John Cena. I know. I mean, that's like i mean that's core memory shit, dude. I blame that on the parents more than I blame it on the kid, man. Yeah. But ah yeah either way, man, super cool, dude.
00:18:38
Speaker
ah Dude, how about Jelly Roll and freaking Post Malone being at a WWE show in Paris? Right. I mean, they they're doing a concert there on Wednesday. Like that made way more sense. Cause at first I was like, what the fuck?
00:18:50
Speaker
How much money did they just pay these two to show up? But still, dude, they could have totally set up in like some sort of press box somewhere, dude. No, they were right behind the freaking commentary table. two guys that are not like that. Dude. I was not suspecting that in my there Brett spotted Jelly Roll he was jelly roll he said He said dude He said that guy looks just like Jelly Roll And I said oh yeah sure sure And he said no the guy right right next to the guy in the cowboy hat was like nah i don't think so dude I was like I don't think that's Jelly Roll dude And then it got a close up du i was like oh shit that is And he had said yeah like she said He was like yeah it's the guy right next He's standing next to the guy with the i go shit that is jelly roll And I was like oh snap that's Post Malone in the cowboy hat That's really cool
00:19:29
Speaker
Pretty cool, man. a big fan of both those guys, so love seeing them at at the show, man. That's the kind of celebrities we want to see, not these random like Netflix actors and stuff. Yeah, and those two just seem... and they sit and The thing about I like about seeing them, dude, is they look like they're actually having a good time. I feel like some of these celebrities, they just kind of sit there and they're just like bothered to even be there, dude. Yeah. Freaking, you got Post Malone, double fist and brewskis, dude. You got Jelly Roll just singing along to all the entrance songs, dude. Did you clock that, Jordan Posty? He had a Heineken bottle and he had

00:20:04
Speaker
I love both those guys. Yeah, I thought that match was great. Jordan, do you have any any notes on the Cena-Logan Paul match? No, ya it was really, really good. Like, that was the match I really locked in for because – Dude, we've only got so many more Cena matches left, so you've got to enjoy them. And I agree with you. Ever since he turned babyface, it just has ramped up to another level. All right. And our main event, Seth Rollins defeated Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight in a fatal four-way for the World Heavyweight Championship with the help of Becky Lynch, um which we've been saying Becky Lynch should have been in the vision from the jump. But I thought it was really cool. And honestly, I thought...
00:20:43
Speaker
This act as heels, like the man's man was like such a ah horrible failure, ah but they- As heels, it's gonna work. Heels, it's gonna work. they They've both grown so much since then. i feel like they're they're more comfortable on screen together. um i I loved it. I loved every minute of it. You know, i loved when she was over there with the belt, like teasing Post Malone and Jelly Roll, like making fun of them, dude. Like- They both just seem super comfortable in what they're doing. And I think, i mean, if Becky's joining the vision, we we don't know like what's going on there, but if she is joining the vision, um I think it's going to just take it to the next level.
00:21:16
Speaker
Yeah, I thought the match was really good, man. i I like that you know they kept Seth looking strong most of the time in a WWE-style Fatal 4-way. The champ always ends up looking like you know they get by the skin of their teeth. Obviously, he had to get help from his his wife at the end of it, but you know he'd also curb-stomp L.A. and kind of neutralize them on the outside before he got into the endgame there with Punk. Yeah.

Bless you. Excuse me. But I thought this was cool, man. and I was surprised. I i was yeah wishful thinking. I was hoping Austin Theory who was going to be the new member. I had a feeling we were getting somebody new joining the the vision tonight. I was hoping it was to Austin Theory, but Becky's a decent consolation prize. Yeah, I knew who it was immediately, dude. I could tell it just by her eyes, dude. I was like, oh shit, that's Becky Lynch. That's Becky Lynch. And then she took off the hood and sure enough, dude. What were your thoughts, Jordan? Did you like Becky Lynch or hoping for someone else? I mean, i knew it was going to happen eventually. Like, I just, I feel like this is...
00:22:08
Speaker
AJ Lee has to come back at this point. like I feel like we're on a collision course for that match at some point in the next couple of months. I mean, it was fine. Like I, dude, I really am about over Jey Uso in the main event scene. I love Jey Uso, but that's I don't know. I co-sign you, man. It feels out of place. Why has he gone to wear the gym shorts, dude? What's but it's the deal with that? He feels so out of place now. and that he ah To me, tonight was the most he's ever felt out of place in a main event match since all this started.
00:22:43
Speaker
like Yeah, he's cooled down a lot. man Me and you really get on LA night a lot, but Jey Uso really felt out of place in this match to me. I don't know what happened, but it has completely worn off for me. Like, it's just, there's, i don't know, just get the Usos back together and start doing tag team matches again at this point. Like, I'm just kind of over it now.
00:23:03
Speaker
I know, but the thing about that is, dude, once you do that, and don't think I don't think there's any undoing that again. You know what i mean? like I think you can, man. I i think Jay's run was art was way more successful than Kofi's run as far as establishing him as a singles guy because there was so much more to it. you know Kofi mania, like...
00:23:21
Speaker
It literally came out of nowhere, dude, like a couple months before WrestleMania, whereas Jay's build was years in the making. So I think you could do the the Usos ah you know reunion tour, like Jordan said, and then go back to Jay at some point. but But yeah, I'm with you, man. The work was obviously never the best. That was always his weakest spot, but he still had the look and the vibe. But i dude, I'm big on wrestlers gear. You guys know that, dude. The look is a huge a huge deal to me.
00:23:47
Speaker
And i don't know why he went away from like the custom pants and different stuff he was wearing. it like He was literally out there in freaking gym shorts. was wearing the same thing watching the show that he was wearing wrestling in the main event, man. And I'm with you, dude. We've been very hard on LA night. LA night looked 10 times more the main event performer than Jey Uso did tonight. Listen... He's got kids. It's a tough economy out there. Custom gear, you know. Ain't no tough economy. That merch is still moving, dude. The kids are always way slower to get onto this stuff than the Smarks like us, dude. The Yeet stuff is still moving.
00:24:17
Speaker
So I don't want to hear nothing about no money. Dude, I think bringing Roman back and aligning him and Roman so closely, that may have dimmed his star just a little bit because Roman's just... such a supernova that, you know, it's just kind of hard to kind of be presented on the same level as him. So I think, I think Roman kind of little brothered him a little bit. And anytime you see like Jay in the main event, it's like, okay, this is cool. But like, wouldn't this be better with if it was Roman? Yeah. Yeah. I agree. Um,
00:24:41
Speaker
i do I do think Jimmy Uso has earned a run to go for like the U.S. title or something, man. I'm hoping maybe this thing with Sammy, maybe it leads to you know a Jimmy and Sammy like respect match and we see Jimmy get get a belt.
00:24:53
Speaker
I don't think, obviously, the push for J has been way different from Jimmy. I think Jimmy's close to J as far as being an overall talent, man. i think I think there's still a lot of meat on the bone for Jimmy Uso to do some stuff. and I think the fans would get behind it you know if now it's it's Big Jim's turn all of a sudden.
00:25:07
Speaker
Yeah, pop Papa Jim. Yeah.
00:25:12
Speaker
Jordan, thoughts? Yeah, I mean, just, yeah. Are you on the whole show at this point? Well, no, just thought what do you think about Jimmy Uso, man? ah Do you think there's some legs for Jimmy Uso to do some more stuff solo? um Or is he too goofy?
00:25:27
Speaker
Dude, I just, I cannot buy him as a singles champ at this point. I think we're just think we're just too far gone at this point with him. Yeah, I agree with you, Jordan. i am i love I love the Usos. I love Jimmy by himself. I love Jay by himself. I don't think Jimmy has the the championship potential. Has he earned it? like Has he like been grinding and doing all the things that I'm sure everybody else is doing? Yes, dude. But...
00:25:51
Speaker
I don't know, dude. Hey, listen. When he wins the United States Championship, want to hear either one you motherfuckers joining in on the You Deserve It chant. You will not hear me joining in on that. I said, did I not say he deserves it, dude? I just said, I cannot see it happening, dude. I hate the You Deserve It chant anyways, man. To me, that's the worst year I've seen. I like the You Have Earned It, dude. We need replace You Deserve It with You Have Earned It. Because you've earned it, dude. It's not that you deserve It sounds like was like pity. Like, here, I'm giving you this. You deserve this. Make them earn it. No, it's like you earned this, dude.
00:26:23
Speaker
and Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. so why look Since we're going to wrap this up, I have me and Sheena already talked about this before you got on, Seth, but there was one hour and 59 minutes of actual wrestling on this show and it went four hours.
00:26:37
Speaker
that sounds like a lot to me for jesus freaking dude pan there is to mean no way ratio yeah there's no way that show should have been four hours dude i just i agree we we have got to trim the fat off these shows somehow i i know what they're doing i know they're doing all this advertising but holy shit man we that did not need to be four hours today three hours you could have easily wrapped that up in three hours today like there was no need for that to be a four hour show. You guys are looking at this wrong, dude. The wrestling isn't the product.
00:27:05
Speaker
We are the product, dude. Our eyeballs are the product that they are selling to other people. I know, so why should we just- are going to guarantee you guys, they're selling the advertisers, we are going to have these fucking marks locked in for four hours, dude. We don't even know what we're going to do. We're going to put on like four or five matches, but we're going to have these fuckers sitting on their couch for four hours for whatever, commercials, advertisements, product placement.
00:27:27
Speaker
Y'all want to put before them, they'll be sitting there watching. Okay, Don Draper. It doesn't make it any freaking better, dude. I'm just saying, dude, that's why. like I've just accepted it that they we're going to get these long-ass shows. They're going to keep us there for the maximum amount of time with the minimum amount of effort, dude.
00:27:42
Speaker
They only have to pay. It's less people they got to freaking pay for the show, dude. Less people they got to fly out there. It's getting set up for their entrances. All that, dude. And I'm closer and closer to death, and they're just like rolling in the millions, dude.
00:27:53
Speaker
I literally – my Fitbit had to tell me, like get up off your ass. like you've just You've been sitting here for too long. like Move. I would say don't watch live, dude. That's the cost of doing business to watch WWE live nowadays. It's a totally good hang to wait to you know avoid spoilers. go Go do something outside and come back, and you can watch the entrances and fast-forward 10 minutes into every match and then hit play.
00:28:14
Speaker
I get that. But like you said, to it it wasn't a huge deal because we could kind of do whatever it was the afternoon. But if it was like... Evening time, I'd be mad. If it's the evening time, I'm just like, dude, come on, dude. Because it would be it would be on a Sunday and it would be normally a work week, right? Where everybody's got to get their ass up and go to work in the morning. Like...
00:28:31
Speaker
that is That is one thing I will say about AEW is like, dude, even when there's a six hour show, five hours of it is straight up wrestling. Like yeah the other hour is the entrances and stuff. You ain't getting 25 minutes of commercials on an AEW show.
00:28:48
Speaker
Yeah, I'm interested to see if maybe, I mean, dude, the only thing that's going affect it is the bottom line, dude. So if less people are going over and they find less people shelling out the money to watch on the new ESPN app for those that got to pay for it, you know, maybe it changes. Because right now, dude, WWE pay-per-views, like, they're the best value in the biz, man. It's $7 a month, you know, or whatever it is for Peacock, $12 a month. But it's about to be, for some people, it's going to start going to $30 a month. So if, you know, I'm sure that i'm sure these guys are crunching the analytics fucking match by match, minute by minute.
00:29:18
Speaker
on this stuff So I think the only way you're going to see this change is if they start to notice behavior that people are watching less because there's less action. Yeah, but here's the problem, though. Here's the problem with that. They already got paid. They already know what they're making off this deal. yeah ESPN is the only one that could possibly step in and be like, hey, we are not getting out of this what we thought we were going to.
00:29:38
Speaker
WWE is not going to do it. You know what they're not going to do? What they're going to do is they're going make the people who are desperate to watch it, they're going to be like, well, now you have to pay more to get a premium tier of this. It just flees the hardcores. Yeah, you're going to get like, yeah. And then there's going to like, you know, everybody who's just watching with ads, like we'll give it to you with no ads if you pay $50 a month. You know what mean? Yeah. Jordan, I what you mean about the ESPN stuff, but I'm talking about the actual advertising they're selling to the, you know, they're going these companies to sell advertising on the show. That's what mean. Like they start to see like, you know, because less people are, you know, because they got to present analytics to do this stuff. So if they, you know, if less people are watching live, maybe they can't charge as much to whoever. people who are. Wheatley, American Vodka or whatever the fuck other shit ass company that's, know, they're doing business with that week. Whatever video game comes down the pipeline. Yeah. Yeah.
00:30:29
Speaker
Are we going Grand Theft Auto 6 as like the center ad for for Raw sometimes? It's coming. Yeah, it's coming. It's got to be, man. They're just going to have like, you know, um hookers and, you know, all kinds of stuff come down to the ring. and Hookers and blow.
00:30:42
Speaker
My overall thoughts on the show, I thought it was pretty decent. Again, like Sheena said, because it was a Sunday afternoon, that kind of lowered my like ah you know thumbs up, thumbs down bar a little bit. So to make it a little bit easier, if this was a primetime show, I would have felt a little bit underwhelmed. But with what we got being a Sunday afternoon and I don't got work the next day, I'd say I was properly whelmed. The last three matches were really, really great. Vibes are on point. Set looked great. Crowd crowd was bananas. Yeah.
00:31:10
Speaker
again all of that was was on point. Again, I think it was way too long. um But other than that, like i again, it was just a great afternoon of wrestling. Yeah, the the overseas crowds just absolutely take every show up to another level. like That crowd today was awesome. And the entrance, the set, and everything was beautiful. Like,
00:31:30
Speaker
Bravo. That was cool. This is two straight shows. We've gotten some effort into the entrance stage between SummerSlam and this, so hopefully that keeps up. Maybe we need more overseas pay-per-views. Maybe me and you were looking at it the wrong way.
00:31:41
Speaker
Well, what does it matter? We can't afford to go anyway, so just send send it overseas. so yeah Go ahead. Go to Abu Dhabi every other month. Dude, you know, everybody's always saying we need a WrestleMania in the UK. I say fuck that, dude. We need WrestleMania in France, dude.
00:31:53
Speaker
I'll take WrestleMania in France over the UK at this point. Apologies to all of our listeners in the UK, man, but the France crowd is insane. That was awesome. France crowd is nuts. All right. ah Do we get any listener mail?
00:32:04
Speaker
Oh yeah. Let's do it. We got about 15 minutes for draft time. So me and George still got to get off here and set up our war rooms. All right, Zach Herzler. See, look at me. jumping the music. All right, hit it. We got to hit that sound drop. That's the one non-negotiable. Our buddy Zach Herzler.
00:32:19
Speaker
what does that Why does afternoon wrestling feel so damn good? Because you still got a little bit stuff on the back end, right? Like it's in the middle of the day, so can go a little bit heavier on the beverages if that's something you like to do while you watch wrestling.
00:32:31
Speaker
And you know you're to have some free time, dude. If it's like Sunday, Saturday night wrestling is great too, you but Sunday night wrestling, it's like, all right, dude. As soon as this is over, I got to tie up any loose ends on the weekend, get ready to to freaking work the next day, man. Yeah.
00:32:42
Speaker
yeah And shout out to all our friends, ah you know, in Hawaii. This was morning time wrestling for them, dude. They got they get to wake up and eat, you know, spamming eggs and, you know, watch some wrestling on TV. So that was pretty cool.
00:32:53
Speaker
ah Tyson Neal Trevino, what's on the menu or in your cooler? A little shout out to our extra cooler boys. We've had like events, activities and company the last like three weeks. So we really didn't do any big. but we did We did sandwiches and Doritos, man, which was excellent.
00:33:08
Speaker
ah But yeah, nothing, nothing big for, i maybe we should do like some steak frites or something next time we're in France. Yeah, we got it. We got to do something. But yeah, Jordan Jocko down anything to eat today, man. I made a big breakfast at about 11 today. So that was that was really it.
00:33:22
Speaker
I made breakfast for everybody this morning. We had a sleepover, so we had a friend over. Brett had a friend over, so I got up and made breakfast for for everybody, and then we just kind of pieced together sandwiches and stuff for the ah for the afternoon. And what's in the cooler? I'm currently drinking. I'm kicking off spooky season a little early. I'm doing a Witch's Brew Alani ah to get me through the rest of this evening. I had a Bush Light.
00:33:46
Speaker
Jordan, sipping on anything? Yeah, I'm drinking Bush Light. Of course. All right. Matt Carlos. When are you enjoying wrestling the most? Bell to bell wrestling or watching with kids, PLE weekends, documentaries, music, podcasts, rewatching.
00:34:02
Speaker
I say all the above. Memphis wrestling. Memphis wrestling is fun. Yeah, I say all the above. It really just depends. i and I enjoy watching wrestling. I love the documentaries, though. I do love i love all the behind-the-scenes stuff. I know the King of Kay paper right here next to me.
00:34:16
Speaker
um you know He he's ah feels a little differently depending on ah what the documentary is about. But I do love seeing all the behind-the-scenes stuff. And like getting to know the person behind the character i think is really cool because I feel like sometimes we feel like we know these people. Yeah.
00:34:29
Speaker
You know, getting a littleli no yeah getting a little glimpse into their life. I really enjoy that. But I i love wrestling in person too, dude. So when we're at like actual live events, just being around the energy of the crowds and, you know, being around surrounded by marks, like I think that's probably the most fun.
00:34:45
Speaker
Jordan? Yeah, i am a I have not watched a minute of Unreal, and I don't know if I will. That's right. I don't know, man. it' just It gets to a point where it's like, if I know every single thing about WWE and wrestling as a whole, like what the hell is the point of me even watching it anymore? I mean, I'm with Seth. like Dude, I want it to be kayfabe. I don't want to know all the behind the scenes. like I don't need to know all that stuff. Yeah.
00:35:10
Speaker
But see, to me, that makes it more interesting, and I am more invested. i like Dude, i i was I've been a notorious like for years when he first got came to WWE and NXT and all things. I was like so down on Damian Priest. du I was like, what the hell is this dude? like I do not get it, don't understand it, don't like it.
00:35:26
Speaker
And then they did like that big feature on him. They did like a whole ass documentary on Damian Priest, and I was like, okay, yeah, I like this guy. I want to see him win, dude. They weren't showing like, okay, this is... why, you know, this is why we decided that Finn Balor is going to turn on him at SummerSlam 2024. They just showed his journey up to independence and his personal life and stuff. Yeah.
00:35:43
Speaker
We're talking about like the stuff that like where they're showing like how the decisions are made on who's winning and losing and shit like that. That's what we don't want to see. yeah I love the the human pieces and everything, man. But ah i don't need I don't need to see how the sausage is made.
00:35:56
Speaker
Yeah, the normal documentaries are fine, but yeah, I don't want to see like, oh, here's the whiteboard for what we were going to do for WrestleMania. Like, I don't want to know all that shit. Because then it just is going to piss me because going to be like, well, fuck, that would have been way better what we got. Yeah.
00:36:12
Speaker
No, seriously. mean, am I a alone in this? You're right. They're going to throw one of those whiteboards out and I'm going look at it and go, and this is what we ended at? Like, I just, yeah I don't know, man. It just gets to a point where it's like, okay, I have to separate myself a little bit from this. It's the best way to watch.
00:36:28
Speaker
Yeah, I think, yeah, separating yourself from like being emotional about the outcome, I think is probably the best way. I mean, think if you want to. Oh, no, no, no. You got to be emotional about the outcome. What do you mean be emotional about the outcome? No, I mean like personally, like I don't feel personally victimized by WWE. Oh, fuck that, bro. When Roman Reigns lost the belt to Cody at WrestleMania 40, I felt like they fucking targeted my ass, dude. Like, no, you got to, the emotional investment's where it's at, dude.
00:36:52
Speaker
I mean, you can be excited, but you don't remember how draining it was to be a hardcore superfan for the Falcons when they would just get their fucking ass kicked every week. I live there every day. mean, yeah, you're still there, but you're a glutton for punishment, dude. You love to be – you love the underdog lifestyle. Yeah, but that's what makes it fun to watch, dude. And the thing about wrestling is that there's at least – it's not like football where got to wait six months and maybe your team's going to be good. Maybe it's going to freaking suck. But in wrestling, there's always another episode the next week, man. I agree with that, dude, but I feel like there people out there who are more personally invested in wrestling and what the wrestlers are doing in their own lives, dude. You know what I mean? yeah? That's so? Okay.
00:37:32
Speaker
I'm not that emotionally invested, but I definitely think like you got to have some emotional investment in or else why are you watching? set I didn't say no emotional investment. You are just trying to like tease out every little word that comes out of my mouth, dude. You said you shouldn't be emotionally invested, but I guess I see what you mean. You mean you shouldn't be too emotionally invested. Thanks thanks for giving that detail analysis. I'm just saying words have meaning. and You said you shouldn't be emotionally invested, and so I took it as.
00:37:56
Speaker
Okay, is that what you took it as? Oh, Sheena's getting aggravated, All right. Tony Barker, have you already got your ESPN subscription or will you be using the VPN code that Stephanie McMahon provided on her podcast?
00:38:08
Speaker
yeah that's pretty funny. I got the subscription. Well, it came with Hulu. I haven't even bothered setting it up yet, though. I think they missed the boat by not throwing at least one... if not necessarily can't miss, the one at least one like super interesting college football game that was like exclusive to that app this weekend. man I think that that really could have freaking drove some activity because I love football and I love WWE, but I have not been motivated at all to set up my account yet.
00:38:32
Speaker
I'm not going lie to you. If it was not free with what I have already, I think I was probably going to be out on it and get a VPN like Stephanie McMahon told me because – Dude, this is to the point now, pay if you have to pay $30 for this, I think that's ridiculous at this point.
00:38:48
Speaker
It's pretty high. The problem is is you still have to keep some of the other stuff. like As of right now, you still technically have to keep Peacock as of right now. like i You're not getting... yeah cause We don't even know where the library is going to go. for You're not getting like everything. and if they're moving all wwe WWE content to ESPN for $30 month, okay, cool.
00:39:08
Speaker
But you've got to have Netflix. You've got to have freaking Peacock. You've got to have ESPN. 30 bucks a month for ESPN streamer. I should be able to, every if there's a fucking ball that's in play somewhere, I should be seeing it on there, dude. whether it's like in Every basketball game, every football game, hockey, baseball, worldwide, if it's happening, I should be able to watch it for thirty but if I'm paying ESPN 30 bucks a month directly. Hockey uses a puck just for reference.
00:39:35
Speaker
Jesus, I love when you guys are at each other's necks. This has gone on too long. Afternoon wrestling was a bad idea. no we're good. We're good. What do you think, Jordan?
00:39:47
Speaker
I just, i don't know. the whole thing is starting to get ridiculous like i said if it wasn't free i was already debating on the fence if i was gonna get this or not just because like we i mean obviously you guys have the same stuff we do like you guys have netflix all that stuff but it's like we have way too many streamers soon because i mean i pay for youtube tv too so i can have sunday ticket and it's like dude at what point does it get to be too much of like i'm spending so much money just to watch tv you know what i mean it's been too much dude and like you piece and parcel every little thing out that you watch on each stream anyway you're like you're not even you're not even maximizing what you're watching on each stream you're literally just watching like a couple of things here a couple of things there and you're paying a premium for it yeah it's ridiculous
00:40:32
Speaker
They should just bundle it all up into one thing and just have it come in through like a ah wire or something straight into your house, dude. We don't got have the internet. I know. Imagine that. I'm not convinced either. if this starts doing well, they don't up the price like six months down the line. That's what man. What streaming service- No streamers ever drop their price. Yeah. What streaming service do you have that you've had for any number of years that has not gone up in price, dude?
00:40:55
Speaker
Peacock is one of the worst, dude. Peacock is f freaking floating all the time, dude. I don't ever pay attention to how much each one of them costs, but today Netflix came out and I saw it and it was almost $27. And I was like, are you kidding me?
00:41:08
Speaker
That's what we pay for Netflix every month. i'm pretty sure we used to pay like $10 for Netflix. no You got to ask, did i watch 27 things on Netflix in the last month? No. yeah The answer is no. a Anyway, that wraps up our listener mail for this episode. all right, so that's a wrap for this episode. Thank you, guys. Let us know if you like this format. Maybe we can start making this a tradition after the PLEs.
