Hello everybody and welcome back to the daily Newcastle podcast. My name is Michael Grameslaw. We are proud to be part of the Global Sports Podcast Network.

Combined 11 for Bournemouth and Newcastle

00:00:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
And today we're going to be creating our combined 11 between Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
00:00:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've got the two predicted teams, in my opinion, up in front of me. um I have checked the injury news just to try and make sure there's players who actually are going to play the

Injury Updates

00:00:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
game. I did get a couple wrong against Barcelona, I can't lie.
00:00:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
um And that is and very unfortunate. um But I have Ina Zunal and Adam Smith out for Bournemouth. Johan Wisser, Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Gordon out for Newcastle.
00:00:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
With Fabian Scheer is a major, major doubt. And to be honest, that major doubt, I'm going to fully assume out for least

Newcastle's Predicted 11

00:01:02

three games. So I'm going to put Malik Chau in next to Dan Byrne.
00:01:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
But Newcastle, the 11 I've gone for is Pope, Trippier, Fabian, not Fabian, yeah, Malik Chow, Dan Byrne, Tina Livramento, Sandro Tenali, Bruno Gamares, Joe Linton, Barnes, Nick Valtamara and Jacob Murphy.
00:01:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, whether that's our best 11 in some people's mind, they'll say absolutely not. and But it's the 11 that is probably from analysis is probably most likely to play.

Bournemouth's Predicted 11

00:01:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then on the Bournemouth side, we have Petrovic, Hill, Milislavovic, Sinesi, Truffert, Alex Scott, Tyler Adams, David Brooks, Marcus Tavernier, Antoine Semenio and Evan Nielsen.
00:01:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So they'll be the players we're going through. We're going to start very quickly at the back. This is just going to be a purely bright, this is who he's up against.

Evaluating Players for Combined Team

00:01:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's create the best team.
00:01:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's get forward like that. um you No nonsense. They're young team versus our slightly older team. um And just say why I think each individual player is better and then come up with the best team.
00:02:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it might have more players from the team in 10th than the team in 4th because I'm probably a little biased. But let's get into it.

Goalkeeper and Right-Back Comparison

00:02:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Petrovic, Jordi Petrovic versus Nick Pope.
00:02:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I do have to say i was quite confused when Bournemouth decided to bring in Jordi Petrovic. um When you consider the likes of Colum and Kelleher was on the market, how they could have brought back Kepa Ariza Balaga.
00:02:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Realistically, it was probably going to be someone from abroad because... They make fantastic signings, Bournemouth. um But I don't rate Petrovic at all. um I think he's quite ah not a... Not clumsy goalkeeper, but I think he's one of those where there's so many mistakes in him and he's not good enough of a shot stopper, in my opinion, to make those mistakes worthwhile.
00:03:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's the difference between him and Nick Pope for me. Nick Pope will make, let's say, three three errors a season, I would say. um so One will be major. The other two will be you know one that maybe lead to a goal, maybe won't. There'll be one that leads to a red card, and potentially, something like that. there's ah There's a massive clangor in them, let's be honest.
00:03:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I think when it comes to shot stopping and being an actual, you know, the actual attributes you value in a goalkeeper, a proper goalkeeper, I do think Nick Pope is better in that regard.
00:03:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Petrovic is better with his feet, um but Nick Pope is the better shot stopper and for me, better goalkeeper. um At right back, it's going to be James Hill from Bournemouth, who replaces Adam Smith behoo through injury.
00:03:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I'm going to say Kieran Trippier. It could be Tino Livramento, but I think that one for me, it's a clear win for Kieran Trippier. ah James Hill might go on to be the next big thing at Bournemouth. They have fantastic young centre-backs.
00:04:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
um This one's been forced to play right back. Hasn't done terribly in his opening games. But Kieran Trippier, England international. Atletico Madrid. I don't really know why I'm explaining it. It's very pretty obvious.
00:04:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Kieran Trippier in this regard. Although I'm not understating what Hill could be at all. But Trippier, fantastic career. And he's not as good as he ever was, but he's still a very, very good player.

Left Centre-Back Debate

00:04:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then regards to left centre-backs, we've got Dan Byrne and Marco Sinesi. This is probably one of the hardest Battles on the pitch, because I really like Marco Sinesi.
00:04:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Argentinian centre-back was brilliant for Bournemouth a few seasons back. Zabani and Dean Huyzen came in, arguably one of the best centre-back partnerships in the world now, actually.
00:05:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
um When you look back on it, one at Real Madrid, one at PSG, um both young, both probably going to be one of the best their positions in three, four years' time. Sinesi's not quite at that level.
00:05:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
um It's an odd one because ah say Marco, it's Marcos. um But it's it's one of those where he's not an Argentine international. He was brilliant at Feyenoord. He's now 28. He's in the peak of his career, um maybe a bit early for the peak of his career, actually, as a centre-back. But even then, it's a case of we haven't actually seen the best of what you can do. Sinesi.
00:05:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to go... I am going to go Dan Byrne because I think Dan Byrne at the moment is in the peak of his career, the best he's ever been. And genuinely, as a centre-back, I'd put him in my FPL ah because he's guaranteed to get those down defensive contributions.
00:06:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
He pops up with the goal. He's a leader, natural leader, brilliant, brilliant defender. Yeah.

Comparing Unknown Quantities

00:06:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then it's a bit of an awkward one for Miloลกeviฤ‡ and um spm while Malik Chau because both are pretty unknown quantities in the Premier League, um which is why I've matched the two up. but If it was Sven Botman, I'd definitely be saying Sven Botman over Miloลกeviฤ‡.
00:06:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But i I'll be honest, I don't know about enough about Miloลกeviฤ‡. I haven't seen enough of him play to say that he is that good. is that good ah Malik Chau, I've seen a few times. Champions League semi-finalist with AC Milan.
00:06:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Very good defender. I am going to have to go with Malik Chau. ah Then Adrian Trafert against Tino Livramento. Again, this is this might end up being a clean sweep.

Left-Back Comparison

00:07:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
um It's not going to be a clean sweep, I can safely tell you that.
00:07:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But I think Tina Livermento is from going to be one of the best defenders in the world. He's in great form at the minute. Adrian Travert is one of those who was very highly hyped up when he joined Bournemouth from, I believe it was Stade Renne. Yeah, Stade Renne. 23 years old.
00:07:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Probably going to be in the French team in a few years, I think. um So you've got, the two again, t um similar to my one for Barcelona, you've got two future fantastic left-backs here.
00:07:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
um i am going to say, because Tino Livermento has done it on the Premier League stage for longer, that I'm going to go Tino Livermento here. um and work that way. Midfield, we have Sandro Tonali against Alex Scott.

Midfield Preferences

00:08:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Again, i want to say Sandro Tonali because one is captain AC Milan, one is captain Dittily. Alex Scott, is kind i I believe he captained Bristol City um for a little while. He is a fantastic young player. Injuries have rambled him a little bit, um but he does look like he's going to be a very, very good player. But at the minute, again,
00:08:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
You can't say many players in centre midfield are better than Sandro Tonali. And then it's Tyler Adams I'm going to say against Joe Linton. um And I'll be honest, I haven't really been impressed by Joe Linton a lot.
00:08:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
recently um i think overall Joe Linton might be the the better player, but as that defensive player that breaks up play, I'm actually going to give it to Tyler Adams because I've been incredibly impressed by him last season and this season.
00:09:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's just one of those where, for me, Joe Linton... You're only as good as your last season. I don't think he was great last season at all. I don't think he's had a good start of this season.
00:09:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
I can't give it to anyone but Tyler Adams in this scenario. ah Then it's Antoine Semenio against Jacob Murphy. it's Antoine Semenu all days up. I think Jacob Murphy can be an absolutely fantastic player on his day.
00:09:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
um He got more goals and assists combined than Semenu last season, but Semenu is a different beast entirely. And I think if you just go off goals and assists, you will say, oh, Jacob Murphy's clearly better.
00:09:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
He isn't. Semenu is the heartbeat of that Bournemouth team. Um, Jacob Murphy might be for us. He is an underrated player across a um ah lot of it a lot of player a lot of teams. sorry um But for me, Semenyo is one of the best in the league in that position and I would have loved it if we'd signed him. Then you might be wondering where Bruno Gamares is. his um I've had to put him up against this the more the most creative of the Bournemouth three.
00:10:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
You've got Scott, who's the runner, so I've compared him with Tonali. Tyler Adams, who's the sort of destroyer, destroy us I've put him alongside Joe Linton. And then Tavenia, who does play more as the number 10 in comparison to Camaras, who plays a little bit deeper.
00:10:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
But those two are the most creative in those midfield threes. And it is a really difficult one because Bruno...
00:10:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
And Tavernier, they are very different players. But I think when you look at it on the grand scope of things, Bruno Gamares is someone that, know, he's been linked to Manchester City for 100 million.
00:10:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
He is the heartbeat of Newcastle United and he's the heartbeat of a team that got us to the Champions League. Tavernier... I do like him. I think when he was playing on the wing at Middlesbrough, I didn't think he had the pace to be a winger in the number 10 rule.
00:11:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
He does seem to be starring a little bit more. ah That is impressive. So, yeah, I think Tavernier, as much as I like him, he's nowhere near Bruno's standard.
00:11:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
And therefore, Bruno Gormades has to go in there. Then we have ah David Brooks.

Winger and Forward Preferences

00:11:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
or Justin Clivert against ho Harvey Barnes, it kind of does have to be Harvey Barnes against David Brooks, because Brooks hasn't done enough in the Premier League to say otherwise.
00:11:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think if it's Justin Clivert who ends up on that left-hand side, I think I'm going for Clivert over Barnes. But David Brooks, I like him again, but he's more of ah a player coming off the bench, can cause a bit of damage.
00:11:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
same the Similar as Barnes, really. um But I think overall, while Brooks is in better form, Barnes is the better player. So I would go Harvey Barnes. And then...
00:12:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
What I would say, what I've just been saying about Miljo Savic and Nick Vltimard, well, and Miljo Savic, it also goes on for Nick Vltimard as well.
00:12:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
I haven't seen enough of Nick Vltimard to say he's an excellent player. He's done well against Wolves. I've seen him in the under-21s, but let's be honest, William Asula looked fantastic in the under-21s.
00:12:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've seen him a little bit for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, but let's be honest, Timo Werner and Benjamin Seshko looked good in the Bundesliga. It hasn't really been a league that's worked out. So, I reserved a spot for um Malik Chau based on i haven't seen a lot of Miljo Savic.
00:12:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to have to do the same and put Evan Nielsen in there over Nick Vultemada. I would say if Johan Wisser was in there, we've seen a lot more. He's a lot more Premier League proven. I would have Wisser in there instead. But...
00:13:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
As it stands, the team is Pope, Trippier, Malik Chow, Dan Byrne, Tino Livramento, Sandra Tonali, Tyler Adams, Semenyo, Bruno Gamares,
00:13:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Harvey Barnes, and Evan Nielsen. So that means that the three play it's pretty much the same as it was for Barcelona versus Newcastle, just reversed. We have eight, they have three, but I will say there are a lot of tight, tight battles across that pitch.
00:13:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Truffaut, brilliant player, may end up being better than Liveramento. Sanessi is a fantastic defender. I do think over the court, at the end of this season, we might end up saying he's better than Dan Byrne.
00:13:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I do think Sanessi will be one of those players that really has a standout season. um And then Alex Scott as well, although he's against Sandro Tonali in this. He's another player that's absolutely fantastic.
