Speaker: They should stop being bad. Hashtag Horse Girls for Thomas Chabot. The podcast is the root of all evil. It is a lesbian flag with Josh Norris' face on it. The heck, we're geniuses. I'm catching strays in this hockey yaoi.

Speaker: Hi, everyone, and welcome to episode Jorian Donovan of Elite Sense Brain. As always, I'm Beata, and I am joined by the artist formerly known as Twitter and Blue Sky user at Erickson's Burner. How are you doing today?

Speaker: Doing so well. How are you doing? All right. I'm doing so well. What a great time. To be a fan of the Ottawa Senators, man. For so many reasons. i feel Like how they actually just lost 6 -2, but we ignore that. We ignore it.

Speaker: Literally. Leading up to that game. So I am in a Discord channel that happens to have a lot of Sharks fans in it. And in like the discussions of actual hockey channel. um leading up to the game they kept talking shit about the leafs and habs because they were playing them and i was obviously enjoying that and they were like no no no you're next and i kept saying to them like i literally don't care if this sins

Speaker: beat the Panthers on Wednesday, you can have a regulation win on Thursday. I don't care. Like, I will make this deal any day. um I will make this deal with the hockey gods. So I feel slightly responsible for that loss to the Sharks. um But like, that's exactly how I felt. I was like, I don't care. We we won the game that mattered.

Speaker: No, exactly. like I honestly was just like, okay, well, that's it. That's like. The season. We won the season. Yay!

Speaker: Anyway, but Okay, should we go into a more structured discussion right off the bat? Or is there anything else we should talk about? No, we just gotta talk about this. Yeah. like This was the game.

Speaker: of the season. The game of the year, like, I... oh my god okay let's start with before the games

Speaker: I love Tim Stitzel, man. I love him so much. he's so good okay yeah because you sent me screenshots from twitter of oh his private chef life at home that's why he can't go out to dinner Yeah, obviously the media asks him.

Speaker: You know, did you... Did you see Brady while he's in town? Did you go out for dinner with him? Because several players had already said that they were going to go to dinner with him or that they did. Jake Sanderson and Drake Batherson, we know for sure, are traitors because they went out for dinner with him. they and Obviously, they ask Tim Stutzla, who used to live with the guy, oh, did you see Brady while he was in town? And Stutzla, the first time they ask this, he's like, no, no, I didn't. um and then i forget there was a a similar question where he's like no no no

Speaker: i have a chef at home so like that's why i didn't go out to dinner with him which like You heard it! How many months to come up with an excuse? That's what you would get. what you come up with He's frantically on, like, Craigslist the night before, like, private chefs in Ottawa area, please, I need an alibi. Okay, no, but -

Speaker: You must not have seen this. His actual private chef was on Instagram posting about this. And after the game, posted a story where he just tagged Brady Kachuk and said, should have let me cook for you too.

Speaker: oh my god wait Tim Stutzla only hires haters to like as his like as his employees and whatnot that's so funny oh my god and the best part is then I swear, he like got a meal with Lars Eller. He was like, oh yeah, I love Lars Eller. I'd like to see him. And it's like, what?

Speaker: He didn't say he had a meal with him, but he was they asked him about, like... Oh, what's it? ah You know. Are you excited to see Lars Eller? And he was like, yeah, you know, always great to see former teammates. He's such a great guy, such a great player. yeah but you he like well We'll talk about this later, but like he and Sens fans are really on the same wavelength about this, where he was like, yeah, Lars Eller, I love that guy. He's the best. What a great former senator. Literally the Lars Eller return game. Yay!

Speaker: It's just like... Truly every time Tim Stutzler is ever spotted at a restaurant in Ottawa. People are going to say, doesn't he have a private chef at home? I don't know why, I just think this is one of the funniest quotes of all time.

Speaker: It's like... I just love it. I was like... imagine like you were so rich that that's the excuse you could use when like you just don't fuck with people and you're just like oh sorry I got a private chef at home like yeah I can't go out for dinner I've got my private chef new alibi when like I'm just tired or whatever. I'm just like yeah sorry. I got a private chef at home. So good.

Speaker: I wonder what he's going to say when he... goes to Florida. Because his private chef can't go with him. What's his excuse going to be then? I feel like... not Not to give him any good material, but if I was Brady Kachuk, I would say to the media, oh, I didn't i didn't see any of my teammates today. I had a private chef at home. No, because Brady Kachuk can't read. So he didn't see that, unfortunately. The private chef is also Josh Norris. He locks them in there and he's grilled steaks and asparagus.

Speaker: um But yeah. It's just like somebody on blue sky said. Put it so well where it's like. All these players are trying to make it seem like it's not personal.

Speaker: And it's really nice that you can tell that Tim Stritzler does take it personally. It's like with the rivalries. like Tim's just like... genuinely deep down hates the Montreal Canadiens. And he tries to be professional about it, but you can tell. you You can tell that he hates them. And it's the same with Brady. You can tell that like he does not fuck with that guy.

Speaker: I know and it's like it's actually so nice because people always talk about obviously like hockey players like no personality blah blah blah whatever and like that's very true but I think that like an underrated way of showing personality is just being like oh, I, like, actually don't fuck with you. Like, I actually don't like you. Because a lot of times people are like, oh, so funny, so jokey. And it's like, I feel like just being, like,

Speaker: I actually hate you. Like as a personality, it's so underrated. So like, thank you Tim Stutzla for again, the hater personality, like representation. Yeah, and I kind of like that like we don't even know exactly when they stopped being friends. like i you know You can kind of speculate based on like they haven't interacted on social media at all in years, they were not on the same line last year. like they haven't seemed close in a while so it probably did happen before that but i like that it's like

Speaker: Either they just kind of grew apart or there was something dramatic or maybe Brady got traded and Tim Stutzler just did the same thing every Sens fan did. It was like, man, fuck that guy. yeah He got traded. like he quit on us you know maybe it was just that i it's so good it's so good literally so good also like such Honestly, like...

Speaker: The... Like. Teen girl friendship breakup representation that's also being shown. Like, I feel like I'm like, wait a minute, this happened to me in grade 10 or whatever.

Speaker: Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah, like, I feel like I'm like, wait a minute, I... remember being this weird and petty and being like what are you talking about i'm not being weird and petty and it's like wait Did you see after the game? So we'll we'll talk about why they were asking, but they they asked him about a specific thing. um And he was like. Guys, we're not getting into this right now. like really Guys, we're not doing this

Speaker: He's like rage baiting the media. he's Like... He's like dropping all these Easter eggs and then being like, what are you talking about? so Guys. you know You're being so stupid. You're so silly. like oh my god and you could tell he was also like trying to hold back laughter when they asked him about the chance.

Speaker: So good. It was also funny, I feel like. Brady Kachuk before the game also, like, Julian McKenzie asked him, like, a good question about, like, what do you say to the fans who, like, feel like you betrayed them, whatever. Or not betrayed, but, like, you know, you left under these circumstances, whatever. And he just, like... Says nothing. And it's like.

Speaker: dude come on like at least you owe us more like fodder of like I don't know. It was just like such a nothing quote. I was like. what the hell it was so obviously like he had a prepared statement about like his thoughts on leaving Ottawa and then he just said that instead of actually answering Julian Mackenzie's question yeah yeah so Stupid. Anyway.

Speaker: um But yeah, before the game was... good it ramped up to something amazing Oh my god. So, okay. personal like About the actual game? Going into this game, I was so sure that the Sens were gonna lose because I feel like any time there's any kind of like big symbolic game that we need the Sens to win they always lose and every time

Speaker: The Sens are like, everyone's paying attention to the Sens. You know, there's some big event that they're part of. That's always when they embarrass me the most. So all day long, I had all these friends who were not Sens fans who were texting me, can't wait for the game. Like, I'm going to root for the Sens tonight. All eyes were on the Sens. And I was like, oh my God.

Speaker: I could just... That whole day, I was like, Brady Kachuk is going to score six goals. like It's going to be a 6 -0. Panthers win. And when he scored that first goal, I was like, oh my god.

Speaker: Literally, I touched tissue. And I even responded, which is, I would literally just texted, we should all kill ourselves. I sent that text to, like, three different people also. Like, everyone who I knew. I was writing the recap, so I wasn't checking my phone. And then I think I saw that, like.

Speaker: significantly later and i was like i know exactly why you texted that i know exactly when that happens yeah Literally, it was the only option. In my head, I was like, we should just all kill ourselves. There's no other option.

Speaker: But. Maybe. Brady was the problem the whole time! Like... Oh my god, Tim Stitzel answers like, what, four minutes later on the power play? His celebration was so good. Of course it was Stutzla. He was so amped up. And then the team just keeps scoring. i like Obviously we're going to talk about the the extra context in a minute. but like

Speaker: The fact that the Sens just, like, completely dominated play, and also Brady played like shit, and the Panthers played like the Sens of years past, where as soon as they started losing, they just stopped playing hockey and started getting into fights. And it was so satisfying, just, like, the most satisfying way for that game to end, because you're like, oh my god, we're free, and now he's the Panthers' problem. He's, he was, like... The fact that he started a fight and got himself kicked out of the game was just like, oh my god.

Speaker: We'll talk about that more, but that... It's like... How are you letting yourself - Get rage baited in this moment. Like what is wrong with you? Ah, perfect game from the Ottawa Senators. Like, their best game of this season. You know, um of course they pull that out.

Speaker: yeah for to be haters um great to see them show up when it matters for once Great like indication for the future. Of this franchise. Like, God.

Speaker: There's just so much to talk about. It's so freaking good. Um... Yeah, like... I honestly like, I would like. Just like everyone got to score. I was like, okay, sure. Halliday. You get one too. Yay. And Halliday's celebration with the ear to the crowd. Oh my God. Oh my God. It was just so good.

Speaker: Okay, so... Obviously the best part. The best - part was the chance. The best part was the fans. i think And I feel partially responsible for this because What did I say in the last episode? I said the silent treatment would be stupid. Aren't you guys so glad?

Speaker: that You were not silent. No, literally, I'm like so proud of this community. Like I was, we were talking earlier, like I was not in Ottawa for the game, so I didn't go to the game. But even just like not being in Ottawa, I was like, wait, I'm going to cry. Like I should be with my people. Like I should be in my city. Like I don't want to, I don't, why am I not there?

Speaker: I have never laughed that much watching a hockey game. like just like it was an amazon prime broadcast and thankfully they had like a pre -game show and everything so they were broadcasting the warm -ups and i thankfully i turned it on really early and just watching the warm -ups and like the signs at the glass the t -shirts like I was cackling. And then when they did the anthems. And the moment of silence, like, you know, you can... eat

Speaker: ah you can You can hear it so clearly on the broadcast with the Brady sucks chants, and then the pause for the moment of silence, and then they start it up again, like, oh my god. Literally like so good.

Speaker: Oh my gosh. It did not let up. And it was. We will talk about this, the the variance in the chants. I don't know how everyone was that well coordinated, but I'm so proud of them.

Speaker: And actually, it's at the point where a lot of people are... Trying to, or, like, speculating. Was this coordinated? Did they have like a sheet that they handed out? Like how did everybody, how did they organize these? And no, from what I've heard from people who were at the game, like it was all spontaneous. Like there were definitely people on like Reddit and Twitter who were brainstorming ideas for chance. Like a lot of these I had heard, I had seen floating around. um

Speaker: You know, like there there was planning in the sense that people were like, let's start coming up with ideas. But what I what i heard from people at the game was like, literally, just like anyone could start a chant and the whole arena would pick it up. like They were just chanting anything.

Speaker: Oh my god. And they were just chanting anything. It was so freaking good. So what we're going to do here right now is we are going to rank the chants. I have written down every single one. Some of them, it's like there were slight variations. So it's kind of...

Speaker: Yeah like there there were a few where like I'm not sure how well they came across or how prominent they were but these are all the ones I could find. Do we want to rank like literally all of them or just our top 10? I feel like we should do like top three Or top five or something.

Speaker: Okay. Because I didn't realize it was this funny. Yeah. I feel like we're gonna have the same favorite one. Like it's it's obvious. There's one that was so much better than everything else. ah Fuck your podcast chans.

Speaker: Fuck your podcast is. amazing like honestly a mantra for like the modern woman of just like yeah actually fuck your podcast and Also, just like.

Speaker: I was in awe watching this. That was one of the clearest ones on the broadcast. Like, for anyone who was at the game, I don't know if you know this, but like... I think the first time I heard it was during a Panthers power play and so both Kachuk brothers were on the ice and you just hear this deafening Fuck your podcast.

Speaker: yes Like. I'm honestly... It's so good because like I was also like, I don't even know if like that's.

Speaker: Because obviously, like... People knew he had a podcast, like, Sens fans were very, like... tapped in like they know what's going on but i was like Does everyone in that arena know, like, the podcast lore? Like, I'm so, like, I don't know. But I was just like, whoa, thank God that. They knew and they knew how to insult it.

Speaker: It's just... it It also just sort of highlights the absurdity of the situation. like this player why why does an active and nhl player two active nhl players have a podcast that was a problem Oh my god.

Speaker: Oh my god. So that one's like way ahead of everything else. Yeah, yeah. It's like S tier and then everything else is like lower. oh We should have tier ranked them instead. oh tri me Maybe we'll do this later and I'll post it.

Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Yeah. unless unless you want to like no no no it's going to be too much work to do this right now Yeah, yeah. Extra content. We will tier rank this. Yeah. But yeah, I feel like a lot of people.

Speaker: This is not on my top one. It's a classic, but I feel like a lot, this is an honorable mention for me. A lot of people were saying like, just fuck you, Brady was like a top one. I... honestly just love the creativity of some of the others and like some of the other things i feel like fuck you brady is a classic but i would only give that an honorable mention

Speaker: I actually was going to put that as like my second or third, because I love the simplicity and the directness of it, especially the timing, because I first heard that right at Puck Drop, where it was like, everyone's going, Brady sucks, Brady sucks, and booing. um And then right as the game starts, you just hear, fuck you, Brady. And I i just, I don't know.

Speaker: I loved - The timing of it, it was just like... To be clear, We hate you, Brady. I don't know. I just, oh that was... The... The... That was the message of the night, you know? Yeah. To be honest. Okay. Yeah. If you...

Speaker: because first so I wasn't thinking about like the timing of it because like it was the most like. when he yeah when he first like when they first the game started and then i don't know if they were chanting that during the tribute video or something else but it was just like a very because you could tell that he kind of came into it like unsure of how much people don't like him and it's like that was a very nice and clear way of just being like actually fuck you so actually i take it back not an honorable mention that will be my third choice i think we'll put an eight here

Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Second tier? What do you think was the second best? Okay, I really liked Brady's balding. I thought that was a beautiful callback. like

Speaker: Wee! Ew. I thought... I would actually put that in B tier because I think that one, it was funny. in a kind of like absurd way but my only thing is he's not really balding guys he just doesn't have a lot of hair and you're just copying the matthews thing like it's a funny thing but it's not something that's gonna like actually cut deep you know

Speaker: that's fair i was just like oh my god like the call i love like a nostalgia moment so i was like wait the call back okay do you want it in a tier I feel like B tier is fair. Okay, okay.

Speaker: Um. I liked... I like Little Brother. I think that one it was an obvious one. Should we put that second? I think that's, yeah, I think that's a good second one. It was an obvious one, but, like, it had to be said.

Speaker: Um... The creativity and the absurdity of You Eat Crayons, I feel like has to... Put it in A tier. shocked because you can't read i was like okay even that i was a little sorry spoilers that was one of them too but like that one even i was like oh damn that's a pretty good coordination you eat crayons i was like What the hell? How did we get the entire arena on that one?

Speaker: Yeah, that was crazy. Crazy. And that was, I feel like that's the one that a lot of people are talking about is like, oh my god, I can't believe they actually chanted that. Because also it's nice to not, like...

Speaker: There's no profanity in it. So broadcasts could talk about it that it. Sounds like they're saying you eat crayons. It's like, that was like actually the moment where I was like, this is absurd. Like, how did how is this real?

Speaker: And that was so early in the game too. i know i yeah i actually can't believe the coordination like i can't believe everyone got on that but yeah Yeah.

Speaker: I would say. Okay. So yeah, we're going to put You Can't Read as well as number five. Yeah, that's just like a classic i liked the um the the trade or because i i like mixing up the chance a little bit like that was maybe my one complaint about the chants is it was always the same one and i feel like we could have gotten more creative with like european football football style songs but like i can't really have any complaints maybe for the next panthers game we can keep that in mind

Speaker: So maybe Trader next? Yeah, Traitor was good. Traitor was good. the the I also appreciate the creativity of... Matthew is brides bridesmaid? Woohoo!

Speaker: I don't know. Sorry, go ahead. Sorry, do we think Traitor is still an s an A tier, or do we want to move it down to B tier? I feel like it might be B tier, just, like, looking at the other A tiers, I feel like. But, okay, that's the other thing. I really appreciate how, like, they took classics and made it a twist, because obviously, like...

Speaker: This is also somewhat spoilery. Like, Matthew's better. Sure, yeah. Matthew's... Bridesmaid. It's like, wait a minute. Like, we're going into idioms and stuff. Like, good job, guys. Like, call back to the Olympics when Matthew was chirping dry sidle. Like, damn. Okay. Yeah, I didn't even put that together. Like.

Speaker: holy like Again, I'm just so proud of this community. like Man, yeah. Who's your daddy as well? um I think I also...

Speaker: heard where's your daddy at some point i'm not sure if it was if people were saying I think Where's Your Daddy is slightly better because it's like... You know... the insults of like brady just does whatever his dad tells him to do you know yeah like that's like again like a twist on a classic potentially um i didn't even know this was here but Eller's better is hilarious.

Speaker: Do we, is that still B tier? I don't know. Because, okay, like, obviously, like, just saying other sentence players are better, but it's hilarious to be like, Lars Eller is better. Yeah, also, yeah, also, Eller is better than you.

Speaker: um I mean, okay, we also, we skipped over We Don't Need You. That's a classic. Oh, true. that That is such a classic. Also, thank God we actually won the game. Yeah, when people were chanting that at the beginning of the game, I was like...

Speaker: You know... This is something you can only chant like... When you're winning. Yeah, like, let's see how this plays out. I don't know if they chanted it. They must have done it before he scored because I feel like that was almost like.

Speaker: That. is there's a way to like frame that as like oh and so what a cool moment for brady because they were saying we don't need you and then he scored wow but then obviously They got...

Speaker: their like teeth kicked in so Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: I don't know Overrated. That was... Classic. What else I'm glad almost all them the Brady that was that was fine. I'll put that one in C tier It's fine. you know good to mix it up URSL out. That was good, too.

Speaker: I'm gonna put that in B tier. Yeah. The one... The only one that I was like, eh, it's a little classless. The Brady's inbred thing. Um, you know... bum.

Speaker: Yeah, that one, it's like... On some level, I appreciate the absurdity of that being chanted in an NHL arena. um But also that's just like, it's just ableism and like making fun of his looks. I don't know. i Yeah, that's not my favorite.

Speaker: but Also, apparently, when he was fighting Ridley Gregg, people chanted, rily Ridley, Ridley, Ridley, the way they used to chant Brady. That one didn't come up on the broadcast. I didn't hear it, but people several people said that they did that.

Speaker: Oh, that's good. I'd put that in B tier. Yeah, yeah, that's, oh my god, that's so funny. Okay. And then all the... The Stris is better. I mean, yeah.

Speaker: I heard that and I was just like, yeah. like he like That's just true. so like That's just objective, yes.

Speaker: Do you agree with the the tier? I think we did all of these here. I think we don't have Brady sucks, do we? Oh, Brady Sucks. that one That one is classic. I like, again... changing up the rhythm of it right that people were able to say brady sucks brady sucks i put that in I think most of these are B tier.

Speaker: Yeah I agree. Okay. um Oh, fuck the Panthers. That one I'd put in C tier. It's just like... Nice to throw that in. By the way, we also hate the whole team. Yeah.

Speaker: Like, I also think it's... I think it's funnier. to have a whole game where the entire crowd is just insulting one specific guy. You know, like that's funnier than just.

Speaker: insulting the Panthers as as a collective, you know? mm -hmm I think that like anything to make it so that there's no like plausible deniability on his end to be like because obviously like gets booed constantly he knows like hey by the way we hate you if the panther sucks comes in maybe he's like oh he they hate all of us okay yeah and it's like no specifically you and your brother

Speaker: No, and, like, truly, I hope that, like, obviously we're never going to get this level. of noise and vitriol ever again, but I hope that Brady hears these chants every time he comes to the CTC. like I think it's just really funny. i If there's ever, God forbid, a playoff series between these teams, I think it would be a hilarious bit to just spend the whole...

Speaker: The whole game. just specifically hating on one guy. Yeah. I think other fan bases do it well, I think. like kind Well, like obviously like Islanders with.

Speaker: John Tavares. I think a lot of comparisons were drawn with that of like people were like, this is not the best. like uh whatever like hating game return because John Tavares was better I don't know I'm i'm too biased. to No, yeah, I'll give it to Islanders fans, actually. From what I've heard, like that one was...

Speaker: more intense. Um. but But, like, we, it's like if they... People are saying if that was a 10 out of 10, we were like a 9 .5 out of 10. I think that we win for the creativity of the chants.

Speaker: I think that they have the edge for like the pure hatred. Like I think with. With the Sens, with Sens fans, it was like 70%. genuine hatred and 30 % we just love to hate.

Speaker: Yeah. That's actually so true. because yeah islanders fans they they were just specifically like no 100 we just hate you and yeah They were like burning his jersey outside the arena.

Speaker: And I think I heard some of the chants. we didn't do that some of their chants were like oh is it where are your jammies where's your jammies or something it's your bedtime that was funny that like well let's not i Let's not insult Islanders fans here. No.

Speaker: ah we solidarity with them uh yeah oh my god where's your jammies is so funny did you see though there was like a punching bag of brady kachuk Outside the CTC or something? Was that real?

Speaker: I did see that. And also apparently every urinal in the arena had either a Brady Kachuk card or like a nameplate from a Kachuk jersey. Oh my god.

Speaker: No, it was it was quite something. Well, and also we got to talk about some of the other funny things. Yeah. Which like, first of all. The standing ovation. For Lars Eller.

Speaker: When they did the thank you Lars Eller. That was just like the cherry on top of everything. Mm hmm. So good. i the I like actually laughed aloud at that part because I was like.

Speaker: We all understood the assignment so well, like, including Tim Stutzla, as we alluded to earlier, like, we were all in this together. Good job, guys. Yeah, 68 games for the Sens, five goals. We love that guy.

Speaker: There was one clip of a broadcast. like while playing that and they're like yeah you know good teammate well liked and it's like guys that's not why they're giving him a standing ovation There was some, I can't remember what broadcast. I was watching on just like Amazon, whatever. But they were like, oh, I didn't i didn't know Suns fans liked him so much. It's like today they do.

Speaker: Yeah. You can see he was kind of confused, too. Like, not sure what to do. He does his little laugh. He's like, thanks, fans. And it's like he he obviously knows what's going on. So it's just such a such an awkward position for him.

Speaker: Good sport, though. Thank you, Lars. all so So good. And then, yeah, like... The signs. Too much AI slop. That's my only other complaint. complaint about this way too many AI signs But there were some good signs. The the people with the like masks. Yeah.

Speaker: Can you get the glass? Oh my god. That was so good. Yeah, I did see like AI ones of like... um matthew holding brady and brady's like a baby it's like guys if you were photoshopping that imagine how much funnier like the time and effort there was Okay.

Speaker: one of my favorite signs was a hand -drawn one and it was like when your brother lets you play with his friends and it was like hand like drawings of panthers players and brady and matthew Oh my god. ah This is so good. I also like the ones that are just like... traitor like traitor i do wish there were there had been more signs about his playoff stats But, you know.

Speaker: Next time. Yeah. Next time guys. Just, oh my god, since fans showed up. Okay. And then during the game...

Speaker: Ridley Gregg? Like, how Brady, how do you allow yourself to get rage baited by Ridley Gregg after you played with him for so many years? no literally because it's like you should know his tactics like how are you falling for it Like. just You're falling for Morgan Riley tricks. Like what's going on? like It's so weird.

Speaker: Yeah, the fact that he ended up getting kicked out of the game. oh Like trying to fight Ridley Craig. That shot of him like throwing off his gloves and looking around for a fight and nobody wants to fight him.

Speaker: Oh my gosh. It's like you saying it this ah this has happened so many times at the CTC and it's so nice to be on the other side. I think it's just... it's poetic just absolutely amazing that that actually happened and it's like yeah Ridley Gregg was

Speaker: getting under his skin all game. But also Dylan Cousins got into it. Jane Pinto was yelling at him. It's always interesting just to see who is... ah who Who seems to have an issue with the former player, you know? yeah I feel like Shane Pinto, I wasn't 100 % sure if he was just like...

Speaker: I don't know if it was just like, oh, haha, like all in good fun type deal. I don't know for sure Dylan Cousins straight up does not like that dude like you could tell like he was actually like hated him I'm getting parasocial but like in my head you could tell Yeah.

Speaker: Also, oh my god, Matthew Kachuk's weird thing with Tim Stutzla, like, he's been going after him for years. That's also why I think they don't - that Brady and Timmy don't get along because like Matthew has been weird about him for a long time and yeah good on Tim Stutzla for not taking the bait and then just scoring a goal Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. Matthew? Ka -chow. And this it's just all so weird. Such a weird family. Yeah. The fact Matthew didn't score.

Speaker: And... Brady. Like okay, Brady got the one goal early on, he played such a shit game. Yeah. like Like he barely had the puck.

Speaker: People couldn't boo him while he had the puck because he didn't have it. No, literally. Also, like, okay, power play merchant. Congrats. We knew. You know what I mean? There was a stop flying around. Apparently...

Speaker: Every single. goal that Brady Kachuk Panther's goal that Brady Kachuk has been on the ice for Matthew was also on the ice like without Matthew Brady Kachuk has not been on the ice for a Panther's goal oh my god

Speaker: It's so weird. I don't know. We've talked about this at length. It's just so weird to me to basically just like. Let your entire career be defined by your older brother. And it's like. seemingly just be totally okay with it. I think like At least other sibling pairs have the decency to be like, wait, I'm my own person.

Speaker: Yeah, and it's like... You know people people clown on sense fans and go how did you guys not know that he was leaving or whatever but truly it was a good narrative that we had going on for so long that was like Brady's brother and his dad suck they are trying to dictate his life and Brady is his own man and he gets to chart his own path and you know His brother and his dad don't define him.

Speaker: We stand with Brady against them. And yeah. Turns out Brady... Just... Yeah, it doesn't care. He is perfectly fine to have his dad and his brother. Tell them what to do.

Speaker: no literally he's like um actually they do define me so jot that down it's like okay cool thank you so much like sorry for giving you credit that you had your own thoughts in your head that's why yeah that's why i'm like okay whatever like sorry because it's it's not like we got duped In like...

Speaker: a crazy way it's just like it was like oh we just thought that he could like make his own choices, but apparently not. Yeah. I don't know. Also, the crowd pop every time Brady got hit. was he yeah Nobody.

Speaker: So good. Oh, my God. Yeah, there's a clip. That's like, you could hear it so well of like. He just... gets hit and then immediately turns to cheers. So amazing.

Speaker: Yeah, that was like early on in the game too. Also, I'm so sorry to the listeners. We both have colds right now and I just started coughing a lot. So I have a cough drop in my mouth and I'm sorry if it's going to make horrible sounds.

Speaker: But this is what we're doing for you. Normally we would not record when we're both sick. Yeah, but we have to talk about this. Yeah. Okay. Well, and then also... sorry you know The other thing we have to talk about is apparently...

Speaker: Right after the game. The locker room was playing Mr. Brightside on a loop. And, like, it's you could hear it, like, in the Panthers post -game interview.

Speaker: Oh my god! I'm like... That's when I was like, I'm getting too parasocial because I was like, you read my mind and you did what I thought. like And I didn't even know I was thinking that that'd be the funniest thing. But I was like, Tim Stutzla, you have received my instructions and you're acting accordingly.

Speaker: Yeah, well, and that was the thing where Tim Schitzel was like, somebody asked who was on Ox, and he's like, guys, we're not doing this. So good. Oh, my God. But also, okay. My theory?

Speaker: Everybody always says. that the locker room dj do you know who this is the answer to this trivia question They're... The Sens have had the same locker room DJ for years.

Speaker: And it's Thomas Shabbat. Okay, I was going to say Shabbat and then I was going to be embarrassed if I got it wrong. I believe that. Because... Imagine like watching Like... Now we can be honest about it as we were before. Your rightful sea get taken away by this. person who then disrespects Like you're obviously like

Speaker: Like, your team, the team, like, you are the longest tenured son, and you just watch this guy just disrespect everyone. Your wife went to uOttawa, and watch how he disparages the city.

Speaker: Like, i I believe that Thomas, and he's too nice to do it publicly. But I believe. Thomas Chabot, again, I've read your mind. I know what's going on. I also saw...

Speaker: Okay. This is unsubstantiated, but one person on Twitter said that they were sitting close to the box that Thomas Chabot and William Eklund were sitting in, and apparently they were very much enjoying the atmosphere.

Speaker: Willie Macklin's probably like, what the, okay. Yeah, he got interviewed the next day because the Sharks were in town and they asked him about it. He was like, yeah, it was pretty crazy. But, like, can you just imagine being him and, like...

Speaker: Yeah, you're not in the lineup. you Probably heard stories about the guy or whatever. And like. Yeah, you're watching this game and the crowd is like this. So good. Oh my gosh.

Speaker: I actually kept thinking, I've been thinking for the last few days, like... Statistically. There must have been at least one person in that crowd. who like doesn't follow hockey that closely and didn't know.

Speaker: That they were. buying tickets to a significant game. They were just like, oh. I'm going to go to a Sens game. that sounds I'm going to bring my family out to a Sens game that night. that That day works for me. Maybe they were visiting Canada for the first time and they were like, I'm going to go to a hockey game.

Speaker: Well, I'm in Ottawa Like statistically, there has to be at least one person, right, who went in blind. And just thinks that that's what sense games are like. Agree. It's like a person who's like, huh, Rocky Horror Picture Show? I guess I'll check that out. And then they're just like, what the fuck? um Yeah, i I definitely believe it.

Speaker: There's also like definitely like... i don't like there's someone who it's like they like brought a client there or something like there's yeah professionals there like there's dentists and shit like Respect.

Speaker: And then like 30 seconds in, we're chanting, fuck you, Brady. oh my god

Speaker: and Yeah, I'm just, again, so proud of everyone. Good job, team. Do you think, I'll bet there were some people who showed up to that game being like, We're going to give the the tribute video us the silent treatment. We're going to turn around. And in probably like five seconds into the game, they were like, okay, we can't do this. Change of plans.

Speaker: No, definitely. I also saw... um like I don't think these people, like, the people in the video I saw would have ended up going to the game. But, because, like...

Speaker: no hate, they just didn't seem like they knew that much about the situation. They were like, I saw this, like, it was, like, Gabriel Pizza interviewed, like, Carleton students or whatever. And they were like, are you gonna cheer Brady or boo him? And then some of them were like, um, I'll probably welcome him back. And it's like, you just know that even if people showed up to the game with that mentality, they immediately out the window. It was immediately like, okay, never mind. It's just, like, mob mentality of, like, actually, I saw this guy. It was so crazy. And, like,

Speaker: Honestly. So many people after that game were saying, you know, Kudos to Brady. He embraced it. He was smirking during the video. you know He clearly loves being the villain.

Speaker: Guys. He did not look happy to me. He looked rattled. No, because this is the thing. We talked about this. He was unsure of like where he stood with Sens fans.

Speaker: Like... I feel like he underestimated how much. like because um like Obviously, like most of the stuff happening like is going to be online before he actually comes down. I'm sure there's a part of him who's it's just like, oh, keyboard warriors, like when it actually comes down, everyone's going to like clap for me, all this stuff. I genuinely think he was like, wait, what the fuck? like His brain was broke breaking like in the moment, I think. Yeah, when he did his little like lap with the salute.

Speaker: That didn't read as like. Oh, he's loving it to me. That red has... He's trying to save face and he's freaking out. I just, I've watched him. so For so long, for so many years, like... I know what he looks like when he's really reveling in the attention. And that was not it at all. And also in his um post game.

Speaker: interview where he was like, oh, were the Sens fans ruthless or whatever? like I don't know. He didn't look like he was reveling in it to me. He looked genuinely upset. Yeah, like...

Speaker: Because I think there's a part of him. i think we talked about this last episode but there's a part of him who like all like I think that like always thought like, but look how like the, like everything I've done for the city, like on and off the ice, like all this stuff. And it's like.

Speaker: Okay. Like. That's, like, obviously the off -ice stuff, great. It's good that it's, like, helping people and all this stuff, but, like... dude like we hate you even the thing about like oh no like if people throw jerseys on the ice like we're donating them it's like we Your CTC stuff, I don't... What do you have to do with this? And also, those children don't want Kachuk jerseys.

Speaker: No, literally, like, okay. and So now you're ruining the lives of young children in Ottawa?

Speaker: I wish the sons... I wish the Sens at the end of the game had like done a tally of how many jerseys were tossed and then donated that many. Shabbat jerseys or something you know Yeah. That would have been cool, but...

Speaker: Yeah, well... And the thing is, like, Brady has played in so many return games as a member of the Ottawa Senators, right? So he knows. how the crowd at the CTC usually welcomes players back. And, you know,

Speaker: He was there for the Carlson return game where he was definitely cheered, right? Same with Mark Stone, I think. Debrinket, who was booed, like he's kind of seen the range of reactions.

Speaker: And no, he he definitely did not expect... that level like I feel like these days there's a standard of how you behave in those games where it's like, You boo the video.

Speaker: No, no, you you cheer for the video. You boo the player for the rest of the game. Then the message is... Thank you for everything you did for this team. But also, we hate you because you're the enemy now.

Speaker: And like, that's it. That is 100 % what Brady expected. Yeah, I think that's the thing. Like, I think when they continued to boo during the video, because I agree, like, people were like, Ani loves playing the villain, all this stuff. Like...

Speaker: I don't know if he ever did, but especially not now. Because that's the thing, it's like... Again, because he scored, I was like, oh shit, like it's going to be that. like kind of like storyline and that's so annoying. But like.

Speaker: No. Like notice how he also scored early on and then just slowly like became invisible. Yeah. and like again he expected to be booed every time he touched the puck i don't think he expected fuck you brady chants like ringing throughout the arena you know brady sucks before the anthems like

Speaker: And - Oh my god, just the fact that - The crowd kept it up for the entire game. Like, that was one of the most impressive parts to me. I know like the stamina. Good job, guys. If you were at the game, I feel like you should get like the key to the city or whatever. Like something should happen.

Speaker: They should have handed out like free lemon tea and honey afterwards. yeah Like, please protect your boys. Yeah. Ugh. It was just so good.

Speaker: I feel like also, like like we were talking about before, like people were tuned into this game, like non -South Panthers fans. like They wanted to see what was happening. I was so afraid we were going to get embarrassed.

Speaker: Yeah. No, it was just amazing to see so many people tuning in, so many people like reveling in that game. appreciating it. like So many of my friends who like don't cheer for the Sens were like, this kind of made me a Sens fan, you know?

Speaker: Yeah. Like it's just so... It's so easy to get behind as like... whatever because it's like everyone already hates this guy and now we're just all hating on him together like I'm glad that we were like the forum for that.

Speaker: I know so many people were like, wow, the Sens crowd has made me realize I'm not hating to my full potential. I saw Red Wings fans being like, oh my God. this puts us to shame like we should have done this with larkin Leafs fans going like, oh my god, I'm so embarrassed how Leafs fans reacted to Marner.

Speaker: That's the thing. I saw so much of like... oh like we were too nice to Marner all this stuff but the contexts are just so okay the Larkin thing Agreed, I don't like if they didn't boo that much i don't i wasn't paying attention but like that's crazy but um I just feel like this like...

Speaker: this is no comparison to Marner in my opinion like you think that Mitch Marner gets to this level? No. No hate. And it's also because, OK, the thing is, Quinn Hughes is returning to Vancouver on Sunday and people are like, oh, is Vancouver going to do the same thing? And people are pointing out like.

Speaker: The thing with Brady is that he's so easy to mock. Right? Like there's so much material that you can come up with. And you can't really do the same with just any player. like what What would they have chanted at Marner, you know?

Speaker: Yeah, the thing is, is also the circumstances of Quinn Hughes leaving. Obviously, it was like. annoying and like stupid or whatever like but at the same time it's like It's not like – no, hey, it's not like the Canucks were, like, a really good team on the rise and stuff like that. The whole thing with Brady, I feel like, is that – On paper, it made no sense. And the only way it makes sense is when you factor in the fact that his brother got into his brain. and it' yeah

Speaker: That's the part that I feel like makes the whole thing just more absurd. Well, and also the thing that everyone is... overlooking with this is Brady is simply not a good enough player to be acting like this. Like, I'm sorry, Quinn Hughes. Like for all his faults.

Speaker: is one of the best if not the best defenseman in the entire and NHL right he won a Norris trophy with the Vancouver Canucks Dylan Larkin well he's more of the Kachuk level player but like you know he's a good player Connor Hellebuck who people are talking about a lot right now because he just got traded um you know he was the best player on the Winnipeg Jets Most of the time, like, John Tavares was like...

Speaker: the best player on the New York Islanders. Sorry, Islanders fans. ah You know. Brady Kachuk! just was not that good, right? So no, we're not going to appreciate everything he gave this franchise because like What did he give us?

Speaker: Yeah, literally, we honestly could have chanted Stutzel's better even when Brady was still on the team. like and know Honestly... It would have made sense. Like, not in the hating perspective, but like, there were many chants that could be done when Brady was still on the team that would be accurate. Well, yeah, we chanted Brady's better.

Speaker: because that was like kind of a bit in a statement right yeah just was better is just True? So... Yeah, so it's just it's a very different situation.

Speaker: Um... And yeah, I'm i'm glad that... Wee. really made ourselves heard like god i'm just so proud of sense fans i knew we See you guys.

Speaker: No, exactly. like People doubted. i I don't know if people doubted. I guess we somewhat doubted. We were like, please don't be stupid and give silent treatment. But I knew you wouldn't. I knew it would be bad I mean I knew it would be really intense I think... Even I am a little bit shocked at like...

Speaker: the number of different chants and and how loud it was and how long it continued for but like No, sense bands have been - Good. ive Have been more creative with chants than most other fanbases.

Speaker: um and like we can get loud when we want to be so i knew that it would be intense Just somehow people surpassed my expectations. Yeah.

Speaker: Which, again... So amazing. So proud of everyone. Man, did you see also that in the next game, um the Panthers were in Pittsburgh and some Penguins fans chanted Brady sucks and also at the end they chanted you can't read.

Speaker: Oh my gosh, we're starting a movement. So good. my The only thing is, like... Okay, guys, obviously it makes sense that sense fans specifically hate Brady. You gotta hate Matthew too, though. Like - The fuck your podcast chant needs to follow those two around all the time. I think it's weird if you hate Brady more than you hate Matthew. You got to come up with some stuff about both of them if you're not a Suns fan.

Speaker: Yeah, again, we run into the issue of like Matthew Kachuk is actually like. ah a really good player so it's like damn yeah it's hard but i believe in you guys like fuck your podcast is just a classic that like you say should just be in every arena like It's amazing.

Speaker: And it's like... As more po players start podcasts, maybe it'll be applicable. oh is that a is that the segue that we're doing maybe it won't be applicable in this case though i just feel like some evil podcasts are coming but there's a good podcast here too I did have a thought during when they were chanting that, that I was like, Tim Stitzel is on the ice too.

Speaker: it Just just says like, hey, what did I do? No, we're not talking about that. He's like, you don't even know what I'm talking about. I speak in German on that thing. After the game, they they asked all the players, like, did you hear the chants? And of course, they were all pretending not to, but I think Pinto, I think it was Pinto, was like, well, towards the end of the game, you know, when you're up by that much, like, you are able to pay attention to the crowd a little more, and I...

Speaker: I took that to mean and I heard the podcast.

Speaker: So good. But yeah. we Well, we love a podcast maybe. I didn't listen to it. the to So... like okay Yeah, since our last episode, um one development in the world of the Ottawa Senators is that Tim Stutzler has decided that it would be a good idea to start a podcast for some reason.

Speaker: We need to, like... invent another hobby for men like who play sports like maybe we get really into pottery or something like why don why and anything goes wrong in their life and they reach for the microphone like guys we have other coping mechanisms

Speaker: Yeah, um like... Obviously the jokes write themselves. This is clearly a very different situation. It's like... He's doing this podcast with Moritz Seider. it's entirely in german so like most of us can't understand like i I understand a tiny bit of German to the point where I was like, I'm going to see how much I understand. And I tried listening to the podcast. I think I understood maybe like 10 % of it.

Speaker: And like 5 % of that 10 % was like... just words that are the same in English. So like um I couldn't get much of it. I did get translations from other people. I could pick up on the fact that the podcast was really boring and that was corroborated by other people.

Speaker: um But yeah, it it sounds like it's more of a grow the game in Germany kind of thing. It's once a month too. um And, you know... If one of those players is going to leave...

Speaker: For the other team, I don't think it's going to be Tim Stutzler. No, exactly. We... The distance that you've seen the playbook. like poached this guy?

Speaker: Get in his kitchen. Get in his kitchen. Oh my gosh. um Yeah, I feel like... yeah i i like the news was just so funny though because it's like oh my god I'm not actually.

Speaker: I'm not actually mad at Tim Schitzler. This is just such a funny thing for him to do. Yeah. Was the wingman or whatever, like whatever the Brady one is, is that once a week?

Speaker: Yes. Oh my god. I didn't even know. What? Never practicing. Anyway, that's besides the point. like how do you have time for that shit anyway um yeah okay once a month is way better You have time for that.

Speaker: Yeah. I think they're they'll be putting out an episode fairly soon. So I'm interested to hear what Tim Stutzla has to say about the last month with the Ottawa Senators.

Speaker: Oh my gosh. I get that it's to grow the game in german but they Germany, but they should... Please, I want to know. Even if it's boring, I just want a transcript. Oh I had some transcripts. I can send them to you if you want.

Speaker: Actually, my... My old friend Poppy. Um, um translated for me. Of mascot minute fame! Yeah, it was a really boring podcast, but he did. He was. Cut it.

Speaker: At one point he said ah that... He enjoyed the um the Hockeyville game, except that there were too many Montreal fans there. Oh, hater to his core.

Speaker: Also. apparently i just pulled up the transcript now i'll forward it to you in a minute um But um apparently his family is going to host the whole team when they're in Germany. They're all going out to dinner.

Speaker: Oh! that's so cute That's really sweet. Yeah, and he's excited to show the whole team the Christmas markets in Germany.

Speaker: Oh my god, he's... So cute. So cute.

Speaker: Yeah, there was also, this one's kind of, I was thinking about this the other day because it's sort of ironic now. um but he talked about how the crowd in European games is always so much more enthusiastic and full of chanting and stuff than it is in North America. And he was, you know, they they were both talking about how like.

Speaker: you know it's just a different atmosphere like you know the The people in Europe are often less invested in the game, so they're just singing or whatever. And I was thinking about that during the Brady game.

Speaker: The best of both worlds. They're invested and... Mm -hmm.

Speaker: But that was that was pretty much the gist of it. So, you know. um Yeah, wish I understood what he... and his buddy mo cider we're talking about and i do hope that this ends with Moe Sider forcing his way to Ottawa.

Speaker: Not that he even makes sense for this ends, but like... if I don't care. I want him. Yeah. We could always use more defensemen. yeah it doesn't have to make sense okay like how about how about a top four of Sanderson Carlson, Shabbat Cider.

Speaker: And then... Oh, we have to get rid of either. no we'll just put Zub and Spence we'll have two righties I can't get rid of either of them yeah yeah they're too important to me oh my gosh Another segue. Maybe.

Speaker: Spence in the... in the bar down video is so good. Oh my god. I sometimes like I'm hesitant to support. bar down because of one of their employees who was a very shitty person.

Speaker: But unfortunately, sometimes they do have... Excellent content. And they had this one video. With some players asking you like hockey questions. And the first one was.

Speaker: What's the best way to score a breakaway empty net goal? And, like, the the answers were so good. Yeah, it was like, that's the thing. Bar down.

Speaker: Unethical. But. I did partake by watching the video. I had Adblock on though, so. So did I, yeah. Yeah. that's that's how i contribute yeah but oh my god so good such a good video um I like the part where They told Spence.

Speaker: When Nick Cousins thought he could make the and NHL and then he just started laughing, it was like Nick Cousins that he thought he could make the NHL at like 13 or something. yeah My favorite Spence moment was when he said that, um obviously, when he was talking about the empty net goal, and he was like, oh, yeah, I was in L .A. I thought it was the funniest thing ever. Like, I would do that. Everyone else on the team was like, oh, I wouldn't do that. Ridley Gregg is like, I probably wouldn't do that again. I don't think anyone will. Spence is like, I would. I would do that. Born to be an Ottawa senator.

Speaker: So good. It was a good video. Well, and... Also, the funniest question, though, other than that, was they asked them, how often does Jake Sanderson talk about his gold medal? And everyone was like, he never does. Like, he's so humble. I really appreciate it. Tim Stutzla is like, yeah, we have a lot of Canadians on the team. So like, I really appreciate that he was so respectful and humble about it.

Speaker: Yeah, it's so funny actually. um Yeah. Hmm. I wonder. I wonder if that was true for everyone. on tv

Speaker: I somehow have a hard time. ah imagining that ah the other Team USA player on the Ottawa Senators was ah similarly humble. It's interesting that the sounds appreciate humility like that.

Speaker: So good. But yeah, good video. unfortunately hosted on bar down but Turn on adblock. The thing is, they had another good video before that, too, during the offseason. Do you see with Tim Stutzler?

Speaker: Where they were doing, like... Funny, like... I don't know, video game tricks or whatever um on the ice. There were lots of like trick shots and whatever. And Tim Stossel was so funny in it because they teamed up where they had like three bar down employees and Tim Stossel and they were, they split up into two groups. And early on, they're like...

Speaker: so timmy uh which team do you think is gonna win and stzza just kind of pauses and he's like I think it's pretty obvious which team is going to win. And he was like...

Speaker: Clearly so upset every time he messed something up. I'm obsessed with him. like He's so like, oh my gosh. I feel so like...

Speaker: He's my nephew. Like, that's the feeling. i That's the parasocial relationship I have with Tim Stutzler. Like he's my little cousin. Peace. he is like just one of the funniest pettiest people in the world.

Speaker: Are you... Yeah. And like, Sometimes I just think about how... when eric carlson got traded i made a big deal about being like i don't care about the return i think i've said this on the podcast where i don't care about the return or whatever and the fact that like the return ended up being a player that i love so much Like.

Speaker: damn i got owned But that's honestly like it's so beautiful. Like it's so beautiful that. there carlson leaving davis In the most convoluted way, such such a beautiful thing.

Speaker: Yeah. Just like... I remember a while ago on the... um In the Senegoth Lounge, Luke Paristi said, like... um You know, I've had a lot of favorite players over the years. Tim Stutzla is the last one, right? Like if Tim Stutzla doesn't pan out, i you know, if something happens, like that's it, I'm done. um And I feel that way too. i'm I mean, I don't know. I'm not as old as Luke Christie, but.

Speaker: but I feel similarly about like... Man, if this guy isn't a senator for life. And like... if he doesn't win the cup here like we're just done as a franchise Like what a guy.

Speaker: He's just so... He's so amazing. like I love the entire... like sequence of events that brought Tim Stutzle here obviously it was heartbreak and sadness but like I'm happy that it ended like this so kind of and then we'll get Eric Carlson back and then it'll all be perfect Yeah.

Speaker: God, what a what a guy. But despite our love for Tim Stislow, we are also thrilled. that he was not named captain um not in a mean way just so in our last episode we had a whole segment we were like shabbat needs to be captain and then i joked in the in that segment like oh They're probably gonna announce it before this episode even goes up and then like 24 hours after we recorded when we were still editing.

Speaker: They announce him as captain.

Speaker: We literally can predict. for You can literally predict the future. I was so happy it was Shabbat. I think everyone was like. Good. It was like. It was what we predicted, but thank God they didn't go off the board. Yeah. Hey.

Speaker: no it was good they also they made us wait so long like they posted a teaser being like we're gonna announce a captain and then they held a press conference and we were all waiting and everything so it was good they they built the suspense and everything it was very stressful um Great payoff. His first game as captain was the stuff of legends. he Played so well. It was amazing. Sucks that he's injured now, but...

Speaker: My captain. Literally, like... I just can't believe there was ever a time. When we let. an American be the captain of the Ottawa Centre. It's just not right. I'm sorry.

Speaker: Yeah, he's just the best. and like I feel like... they did it perfectly with the whole um leadership group right because you're only allowed three letters in any game So if you have more than two A's, you need to alternate. And they have...

Speaker: but There have been so many injuries that it's hard to tell, but I've figured out that they have Giroud as the permanent A, and then they have, when everyone's healthy, Stutzler as the home A and Sanderson as the away.

Speaker: a Which I think is perfect because it's like you're easing Schutze and Sanderson into that responsibility. And then obviously. who, whenever he retires, you just have Stetson Sanderson as the ace.

Speaker: Perfect job! 10 out of 10. Thank you, Sens. And it was also everyone. Who? People were throwing around, like, maybe he gets the C. Maybe he gets the C. And it was like... They gave the right guy the captaincy and then they just gave everyone else A's.

Speaker: Yeah, it's perfect. And oh my god, Timur Shtisla has just been so good this year too. Like, he's on another level. And you can really tell like he. It's his team and he knows it, even if he's not the captain. Like, he's the guy.

Speaker: It's so true. It's so Nice to see. i'm I'm excited about the Ottawa Senators. Yeah. Which is a nice feeling. I know, like, okay, it's not November yet. but you know But that's because the season has started earlier than usual. um So we're like 11 games in. And the thing is, I feel like at this point in the season.

Speaker: I'm always like, ugh, they're - They have a losing record again. Like, we'll just see how bad the losing streak is in November and then we'll reconvene. Like, i I said this last year. I'm pretty sure I said it the year before, too, where I was just like, I can't even pay attention or get upset about this team because we just have to see what happens after November. And it's so nice to finally.

Speaker: not be doing that. Right. We're 11 games in and it's like. You know what? They're not even playing their best hockey. But... They... have a winning record. They're top three in the Atlantic. They're keeping pace with all the other teams. like This is great.

Speaker: Mm hmm. Yeah, it's nice to just like... Obviously, I think like underlying numbers are apparently bad. Whatever. I. And... It doesn't matter how... They don't ask how, they ask how many. Or whatever. Well, it's nice that they've been able to win with the underlying numbers being bad. Also, okay, I was starting to get worried where I was like, does Jake Sanderson fix all of this? Because they didn't have Sanderson. And then he came back. He came back in the...

Speaker: Game against the Panthers. And the Sens' underlying numbers were amazing. And then they were also amazing against the Sharks, even though they lost. So it's like, oh. Jake Sanderson does fix all of this actually. so like we're good yay No problem!

Speaker: Life is good. It's so good. I mean like... Felina's Ulmark injury could could end the season. Oh, I forgot about that.

Speaker: Oh, my God. Life is bad. Yeah, but he's only out, like, one to two weeks. Siobhan is also only out one to two weeks. So, like, it's we just gotta, like, scrape out a few points during that time, and then we'll be back, you know? Yeah. Life is good again. And homework has been so good.

Speaker: yeah oh my god that's why i was so sad to see him go down it was also like so random it was like Nothing happened. And then obviously people were really like, fuck. headaches it was like his shot that he saved and I was like yeah exactly Exactly! And another - I think. no but uh yeah i was unfortunate um but i'm I didn't see how long it was. It's like one or two weeks though. which but it's also like what what what's happening what happened it was a strain or something yeah Okay.

Speaker: i hope he's okay he was also so fun in that video I like them all. you it's great you can just tell that this whole team is like so happy so excited oh my god we didn't even bring up the video the ebook video did you see it No, what? No, you gotta look at this. It was at the beginning of the season.

Speaker: I think I saw it and then I never unmuted it because I was always not having my headphones and then I forgot to unmute it when I was home. No, very beginning of the season. So there's a rule change where um every team has to carry a permanent e -bug. And so they um named one of their equipment guys as the e -bug and they did a like press conference with the team. And it was just... It was so fun. You could tell that the team was just so excited. It was such a funny thing. That's so sweet. Okay, I have to watch it. Because, yeah, I kept seeing it and then...

Speaker: Not being able to play it because I was in public and then I forgot to watch it when I got home. One of the funniest sense videos ever, honestly. Oh my gosh, okay. I have to watch this. Oh my god, my life's gonna get even better! What a great time!

Speaker: Yeah. It's just great. I mean, yeah, lots of significant injuries. R .I .P. William Eklund. But, you know. They're... they're treading water at least, you know, like.

Speaker: they've got a winning record again top three in the atlantic We're okay. And then we'll get good players. back soon enough even though yeah they do need that forward They need to trade for a forward, but.

Speaker: Other than that, we're good. Exactly. So yeah, it's it's nice. We'll see how bad November is. But even if November is bad, we got to bank lots of points in October. so Exactly.

Speaker: anyway yeah i don't know if there's any other sun stuff to to discuss. I think that was about it. I think that was everything. It was mostly just the panther scene, but that was the most important thing that's ever happened. It's just like, what a time. To be a Suns fan.

Speaker: Oh god. And hopefully these vibes continue. um The one nonsense update that we have is um Team Canada's...

Speaker: getting weird at women's worlds. Did you see their roster? No, I didn't. Oh, they just Wait. for a full shake -up. Leslie and Woz are both on the roster. um they They didn't bring Jenner, even though Jenner works great with those two players. um Yeah, they're not bringing like any of their veterans, basically. They're just like, yeah, a bunch of new players. Let's see how that works. Which I'm...

Speaker: in favor of it. um just Clearly the old team was not working, so... let's Let's try something new. Yeah, it's nice that they seem to have like.

Speaker: Yeah, learned from mistakes. um We will see, though, how it goes. Yeah. And then also from NHL News. The ah Connor Hellebuck finally got traded and the return is bad. So another win for the Ottawa Senators. I saw like randomly online like just I don't know if they were like...

Speaker: okay they were like the Devils fans equivalent of like the Sharks of like the Sens fans being like no not Josh Norris like they were like no not Dawson Mercer and I was like Dawson Mercer's good and I don't I I'm not sure he might not be but yeah very underwhelming to me based on the little knowledge I have of the devils.

Speaker: Yeah, almost like they should have taken... the panthers package but i'm glad they didn't Yeah. Anyway, I'm glad that's... over i feel bad for the jets and jets i know yeah i hope that they They're okay. Like with Larkin, I'm like, no, i I want them to fail. That's really funny. With Jets fans, it's like, man.

Speaker: they're they're like our siblings like i know we We small market Canadian teams have to stick together in these trying times. It's actually so true. So I'm like very like.

Speaker: I can't believe they did this. I'm so sad. I'm sorry. Um. Yeah, and I hope... I hope they. Have a lot of fun. On November 10th, when the New Jersey Devils come to town. it

Speaker: I love it. So many. Some people are already being like, we have to show up like Sen's fans did, like now we're the new standard! Oh, my God. I'm again. Just all I feel is pride.

Speaker: I wasn't even there, but I'm like, good job team. Yeah, I feel like I played a role in it in some way. no yeah I believe it. i You know what?

Speaker: I think. Sen's army, we all did that together. I was booing. Yeah. The city I'm in. I'm not going to reveal. But I was i was booing too. Don't worry.

Speaker: Oh, so was I. I was mostly just like cackling. yeah I was laughing so hard. It was so good. I think I went to bed at like 2 a .m. that night. Like I also was writing. white hospital I know. I was just like, I couldn't sleep. Like it was just so crazy.

Speaker: Just... Like so many, even people around the league are so are already saying like that was. the game of the year like the regular season at least i don't know if we're gonna top that Although they were saying like the players were like, it felt like a playoff game. It's like, yeah, but you won this one. Yay!

Speaker: No, yeah, I think it was Pinto who was like, you you know... That was so much fun. like We haven't had a game that fun in so long. um It's just everything about this team is so fun.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, and like some would say that it's... fringe for us to be this amped up about A regular season game? And maybe they're right, but you know what?

Speaker: What are sports about, if not... Hate. Yeah, like That argument is always silly to me because it's like. except when I'm the one leveling it at others it's a silly argument because like it's such a fun thing to say like oh okay like this was literally your Stanley Cup was like a random regular season game in October but on the other side I'm like yeah it literally was my Stanley Cup and what about it like

Speaker: i I had fun. it's The most fun I've had watching a game in so long. I smiled the - Basically the whole time, except... at one specific point but everything else was smiles the whole time like wow it must be miserable to not be able to enjoy a random regular season game in October Yeah, like maybe because when you lose the random regular season game in October, it's not fun, but I had a great time.

Speaker: Mm hmm. But yeah, it was... I just... It was just fun. like I just think it's been fun. Right now. That's nice. And just like. It was nice to tell Brady exactly how we feel.

Speaker: And. to know that the message got through. Yeah. exactly that's I think like we've expressed it so many times that like that's what I think everyone was worried about was like with the silent treatment is like now will he know how much we hate him and I think Now he finally does.

Speaker: Yeah, i I am slightly curious, like, how he's going to spin this. Like, I know he's going to try to own it and everything because he has to go on his podcast and he has to talk about it. So I unfortunately might have to tune into that podcast episode. You know what? They've got plenty of money. It's not going to hurt. Like it's not really going to do anything if we tune in. So like might as well.

Speaker: Yeah. I'm gonna shake my head the whole time so people know I disagree, though. Yeah. And like, i I know he's going to try to pretend that he loved it, but. since fans know you brady we saw your expression during that like Yeah, when you were saluting the fans or whatever, we saw...

Speaker: How you... what What you looked like after the game. And uh... You did not look happy. Exactly.

Speaker: Man, actually, I keep seeing like I keep. Seeing this stuff on TikTok sometimes and the search bar at the bottom will be like, what did Brady Kachuk do to Ottawa?

Speaker: Oh my god, I love - Like I love those like. Yeah, the suggested thing. Oh my god, I - Aww! This post that was like...

Speaker: I honestly, I was like, I felt so much love in my heart. It was like a heated rivalry fan and they were like. Hey, like they were like wondering if like this reaction would be something that Ilya would experience in Boston I'm not sure of all the context and I was like, I love you I'm so emotional And also... No.

Speaker: they were like i know he asked for a trade out like is that and it's like no no but thank you for asking yeah I also saw there was a TikTok from one person who was like Am I just too much of an empath? I feel really bad for him actually.

Speaker: Oh my god. And there was, like, some people... Remember last episode, I was like, I want discourse the next day about whether we were too mean. There has been discourse and I have been enjoying it.

Speaker: Perfect. Literally it couldn't have gone better. Man. Honestly, even the fact that he scored, because it's like now he can't even enjoy that fact because then it's like you literally lost 5 -1.

Speaker: Yeah, and and played like shit, too. And we're a minus two in the game. oh my god it literally classic brady kachuk this was like the quintessential Brady Kachuk game I know that's the thing like the goal almost makes it more of a classic Brady Kachuk game where it's like yeah he scored a goal at the beginning of the game he got the individual accomplishment But then he played like shit and threw a tantrum.

Speaker: and lost badly. Yeah, and that is the summary of reading Chuck. So yeah. That was it for this episode.
