Holmesy: G'day welcome to the Pod Pod brought to you by Moreira's Magic. I'm your host Holmesy, three-time top 10 finisher and twice runner-up in AFL Fantasy Classic. Bit of a different episode for you guys this week. Apologies, we are we attempted to get an episode out last night but unfortunately Geordie's 3G signal through the Blue Mountains in the middle of Australia didn't quite get the job done and we run into some technical difficulties so...

Holmesy: we are We couldn't go last night. We don't have Harmi tonight. We don't have Louis, but we do. I mean, we've got the only man that the listeners want to hear at the moment. The the man who's in form, finally back off the train, back in his own house.

Holmesy: Jordy, mate, I don't know if that's good or bad for your fantasy team. you You're able to sort of check out over on the train for the last nine days and just make the right moves.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, ah it's good to be because we back and you know on good internet and talking to you. So good to be back on. But yeah, you're right. Obviously, didn't actually but you can't watch any footy on the train. So I'm just checking the scores, checking the scores. It's actually quite hard because you you're like, what's going on? like Get up some points. You know you don't know. Whereas when you're watching the game, you you know what's happening. So yeah, we'll see how we go. Still managed to go up 800 spots last week. So that's good. So I'm getting close to you. So Hopefully can overtake it this week. I think it's like 60 points you're ahead of me.

Holmesy: I know you've been wanting it for a while, but keep telling you you've been, you've been coming and you've been able to make some moves and I've just been patching, patching my holes and watching the sink ship. But yeah, hopefully we can make it ah an interesting challenge between us to finish off the year and bring some energy to the pod. So we're, this before, we're obviously not reviewing last week, but where, where are you ranked at the moment coming into this round?

JORDAN DSENA: Yep. So I'm 2,558. so yeah, yeah. I think it was 60 points. Yeah. so yeah

Holmesy: Yeah, 400 spots between us.

JORDAN DSENA: yeah so think it was sixty points

Holmesy: Yeah.

Holmesy: Yeah, fair enough. A lot rides on your boy, Will Ashcroft, tomorrow night. He's been taking you to the promised land for a while now, while some of my Sam Walsh's and Noah Anderson's just justt not getting it done.

Holmesy: But anyway, big round of footy this week, and there are some things to talk about.

JORDAN DSENA: yeah

Holmesy: that's i mean, there's a game going on as we speak currently. It's halftime of the North Melbourne Bulldogs game. Do you have any investment in this game currently?

JORDAN DSENA: A little bit. So, i mean, I actually had the VC on Harry Sheasel because I just thought he was a safe sort of 120 and he is on track for that. He's on 71 at halftime. I didn't go with it.

JORDAN DSENA: I switched last minute because I was watching the pregame.

Holmesy: Yeah, and tell them why, tell them why.

JORDAN DSENA: i was watching the pregame and he comes out and he says, oh, I'm going to play the same role as last week. going play more forward. Wardlaw was in. Yes, he scores great as a forward still and that high half forward.

JORDAN DSENA: But there's so many good other options out there this weekend. I was like, do I want to put the VC on that? Like, it just scared me off. So I just moved away from the VC. He's probably going to get 130 and it would have been good. But we'll see what happens.

Holmesy: Yeah, well, I'm not on Harry Sheasel either, mate. I had similar thoughts to you, but knowing that the comp was going there, wanting to be a little bit different, so decided to YOLO into Marcus Bontempelli.

Holmesy: 69 at halftime, but wasn't looking fantastic early, so hopefully he can match or or go a little bit better than Sheasel. That would be nice, but yeah, i just want to get a nice vice-captain score away and not have to worry too much.

Holmesy: Any other investments or no players?

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah. No, that's it. With Bond, actually, Foss was on him, so a little bit, but he seems to be scoring well, which is good. But I don't know. It just doesn't seem – I've obviously heard he's been limping around the last couple of weeks, and this is the first time i've been able to watch him because i've been on training. He does look like that, but he's still scoring. It's Bond.

JORDAN DSENA: But it kind of – getting that 61 last week, I can kind of see how it may have happened now. Yeah. He's just maybe out of the game or if they were, you know, they were smashing him. So they weren't. they So I think he just sort maybe rested and ended up getting that 61.

JORDAN DSENA: So yeah, I don't have him, but I get probably the other player is is Luke Parker. I guess he's probably highly owned in the game and he's doing okay.

Holmesy: My boy, my boy.

JORDAN DSENA: So good matchup for him.

Holmesy: is on was on 23 for a long time. You know, when you're just watching the scores tick over and they're not they're not ticking over and you get that feeling like, are they ever going to score again?

JORDAN DSENA: Yup.

Holmesy: But yeah, hopefully he can finish it off. That would be a start to the round.

JORDAN DSENA: A nice tonne will be good.

Holmesy: All right, let's get stuck into the team. So we've got Brisbane versus Hawthorne tomorrow night on Friday. Massive game. We've got Hannibal coming in for his debut. That's unfortunate. That would have been nice for him to to get through to the end of the year without playing for a rookie option next year.

Holmesy: um We have Dane Zorko returning and then Darcy Gardner coming in with Reveal, McCluggage, rest in peace, and Coleman going out. And a few interesting ins for the Hawks as well. So Amon, Butler, Lewis, and Reeves come in with Schubert, McDonald, McGuinness, and Greaves going out. So a lot of omissions there.

Holmesy: Let's start first because ah i need ah i need a second opinion here because as it stands right now, Dane Zorko is sitting in my side. What do you think?

JORDAN DSENA: I don't hate it. I've actually toyed with it this as well. I haven't looked at locked in my trades yet. I still don't know what to Roan Marshall. But Zorko is so cheap that he's basically the only guy around that price that is capable of you know scoring well or in line with the top six. But it's just so hard with...

JORDAN DSENA: his his history. like Obviously, Brisbane got smashed last week. Are they just going to run him now to the rest of the year or is it one game and then it's managed again? It's three to go It's that high risk.

JORDAN DSENA: I feel like this week he's sweet and then from there on, we'll see. But it's not the yeah it's not the worst. It sounds like you reckon he's in for the next three. Yeah.

Holmesy: I would think so. Brisbane, after that loss on the weekend, they need to find their form back and they need to win their last last three games to lock away that top four spot. So if he's good to go, i think he's good to go. he's He's the type of hitting six play towards the end of the year when but a lot of the comp are probably too scared to go there and for good reason. But and I've been picking durable players for the last 10 weeks and they've all been getting injured anyway. So why not have... A bit of a punt. Another player in the defensive line who's been popular over the last couple of weeks, Jarman Impey.

Holmesy: um Is it a bit of a concern with Carl Amon coming back into the side? And we know that Brisbane have been running a bit of a forward tag with McKenna as well, who is starting on the bench, or as it stands.

Holmesy: is it Is it too expensive now for to jump into Jarman Impey knowing that he wasn't scoring as well when Amon was in the side?

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, I think it is a flag. I was looking at him as well, but I've sort of turned off of him now that Amon's in and just the hard matchup. Look, every chance he does well still. And if you've got him in your team, wouldn't be trading him out.

JORDAN DSENA: But it has so stirred me of, well, if there's a few other options around his price, I might look elsewhere now over Impey just with that matchup.

Holmesy: Yeah, ah I think so. i mean, you've obviously got those Brisbane brisbane midfielders that have been killing it for the last you know month or so now. So Will Ashcroft priced at 118.

Holmesy: What? Dunkley would be up there now. So he's priced at 104. So he's he's gone up about 170K since I think you brought him in or at least when he'd sort of bottomed out.

Holmesy: Do any of those guys interest you as options or do you think being ah you know such an important game on a Friday night that maybe the scoring won't be there for those midfielders as these two big clubs go head-to-head?

JORDAN DSENA: um I think Ashcroft is still one you need to get. He's still that top four mid. um He's in incredible form. I think he's he's one guy that you're going to need. like From the top four, I wrote this down actually. to The top mids at the moment. so You've got Yeah, you've got Ashkoff, Dacos, you've got Dunkley, actually Dawson and Baz Smith. those All five of them have gone 106 plus.

JORDAN DSENA: After that, it really just is changing week in, week out. Like Taranto's up there, Sarong's been good, Matt Rowe's averaging over 100 last five. So these are guys, you know, over your Bontz, your Heaney, your Anderson. So I think Ashkoff is still a target in this matchup. He's just in incredible form.

JORDAN DSENA: And Josh Dunkley is probably one you could probably still look at, I guess. He's starting to mark, tackle. Yeah, I think he can just keep continuing what he's what he's up to. And Huma Cluggage out should only help i was those guys with the CBA mix, I think.

Holmesy: Yeah, and the run, ah think it's well it's it's pretty good. So, i mean, Hawthorne's going to be pretty tough. They then have Gold Coast, which is going to be ah they should dine out on them. And then they finish with Collingwood, who hasn't been the easiest matchup for midfielders, but, you know, big game.

Holmesy: Yeah, you're going to want, I think you're going to want these Brisbane players, Ashcroft especially, I think you're going need him next week. So maybe that's that's the play there you hold off if you don't have him like myself and and look to target him next week.

Holmesy: Moving on to the first game on the Saturday morning. So Melbourne versus Freo. Massive game for Freo. Last time they'll play at the MCG before finals. Nothing of note really from a fantasy perspective here in terms of the outs. So Chandler and Turner come in with Cross and Howes going out and then Copps is replacing Pearce who's being managed.

Holmesy: Max Gorn, he already went pretty big against the combo earlier on in the year. I think it was the Jackson-Darcy combo potentially at that point. There's no, who's Moose, what's his name again?

Holmesy: Max Heath hasn't come back in, so there's no issues there.

JORDAN DSENA: Mm-hmm.

Holmesy: They need to continue winning to make sure that they can at least have a crack at the top four. So is Max ah a captain option, VC option for you this week?

JORDAN DSENA: He isn't one I considered. I think I haven't really, i think because we've got so many other great options, I hadn't looked at him as BC or C. and i just ah For some reason, I just thought Jackson was a tough, tough matchup.

JORDAN DSENA: um But maybe, you know, he he might be okay. But just one I'm just leaving at the moment. But I think, and he's coming off a 132, so he should be, you know, he's averaging 110. He should be fine for this week.

Holmesy: It's really been some of the sort of defender options. I mean, Tom Sparrow just keeps getting it done. So if you're looking for a forward, it's not sexy, but, you know, he's been mixing some ceiling games with some, you know, he doesn't really go below 80, 90. So he's he's been a miss by all of us this year. If you had of pivoted to him off one of these injured forwards a while ago, you'd be yeah absolutely laughing.

Holmesy: Jake Bowie's been in some pretty serious form as well. um I know he was an option last week, got the 1-11. Freo are actually pretty good matchup for defenders. Port Adelaide relatively neutral and then Bulldogs to finish.

Holmesy: You know, there's doubt around Nassaya. it's I don't think it's too late for him personally. I think he's a ah really good pick, but it's yes if if you need an upgrade, if you're trying to get Hugo Hulcahan or Farrow or you know one of those defenders off field, I think you could go worse than a Jake Bowie, especially with a lot of the top sixes now falling away.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah. Yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: yep Yeah, so Melbourne have got the second best run behind Sydney for defenders. As you said, for airport dogs, Bowie seems to be the main guy. And the main thing, obviously didn't catch the game, but i saw that Chris Salem was actually playing forward.

JORDAN DSENA: So his name's a halfback, but I think they're going to start running him forward, which actually gives Bowie, I think, the license down there. So i think he's a really good option if you can't afford some of the other guys that are higher up in price.

Holmesy: Both teams have have been running sort of tags at times. Freo not really running a tight tag, but we know Young ran alongside Bont this week. I'm not sure whether he's the matchup for ah for a Cozzy Pickett. I think Cozzy's probably too quick, but yeah, I'm not sure what Freo do there. But do you think Steele's been doing some jobs at times as well? Do you think he maybe tries to go sort of head-to-head with Sorong at stoppage and and put some time there?

JORDAN DSENA: and So this has got me thinking because I'm wondering whether I should loop Cozzy Pickett because Frio are a tough matchup. We saw, was it Bont last week? Was it the 61 against Frio? So it's a tough matchup. Yes, Hayden Young tagged him. I'm considering looping Pickett. I think if you've got a 23rd, maybe you need to consider that.

JORDAN DSENA: As you said, though, at the MCG, should still be okay. they There are a couple of other tags. So I think... Tholstrup may go to maybe a Murphy read. um Pretty damaging.

JORDAN DSENA: um And Sarong is one. I traded him in four weeks ago. and he was just always going to be that short-term player. I've made my money on him. I'm so scared he's going to drop a 60 at one of these points like he's done all year.

JORDAN DSENA: Is it this week that it's going to happen all year? I don't know what to do. i'm kind This is my thoughts of do I trade out Caleb Sorong? Because Marcus Herbert on the bench, who I've got, is playing Collingwood and he's racking it up.

JORDAN DSENA: And I can almost loop him on in the mid spot and I can get Sorong to a Bowie or a John Noble or a Zorko and strengthen up another area. So he's one I'm considering um trading out.

Holmesy: Yeah, Herbert, what, back-to-back tons, big, looking good, you know chasing that contract.

JORDAN DSENA: Hmm.

Holmesy: Pies at home are depleted pies as well. Yeah, I don't hate it. We've we've seen rookies do this, right? So it's it's hard. You've got to kind of put the price away and just look at the player in the form and what they're doing.

Holmesy: um And yeah, a big miss by me by not being able to get him over the last sort of month and a half. All right, the next game on Saturday. So we have Sydney versus Port, standalone game. So a few changes for the Spons. Hamling, Dottoli, Wicks and Melican come in. So really bolstering up their defence.

Holmesy: Roses goes out, Rowbottom goes out, Rampy and that horrific injury to Will Edwards. And then your boy Tommy A comes in for Jack Watkins. So not too much of a change for Port.

Holmesy: they did They did run Sydney pretty close at home at the Adelaide Oval earlier on in the year. I think it wasn't even that long ago, round 14. We saw Heaney go massive. Warner keeps getting it done.

Holmesy: What do we think here? Do we think Port are going to challenge and and be a bit tough to score on? Or do you think Sydney kind of run away with this one and we might see some scores finally from from our premiums?

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, I think it's time to jump on this, Sydney boys. So, Row Bottom's out. I assume we had a bit of CBAs last week. Sheldrick hasn't come in. So, they really haven't replaced the midfielder.

JORDAN DSENA: You've got Heaney, Chad Warner and Errol Gordon named on ball. I think those three are just going to have really high CBAs. I think they're all going to score really well. I'm actually looking at bringing in Chad Warner this week. I kind of hate it, but he's in so much form that I think I just have to get him.

JORDAN DSENA: And I think Heaney, Warner and Goulden, if you don't have them, I think they're really good targets this week. And that's another thing I could do. I could Sorong to a Chad Warner, play Herbert on field or loop Herbert. I think that's going to strengthen my team. And I could loop Cozzy Pickett perhaps.

Holmesy: Just trying to open this up. So Isaac Heaney against Port Adelaide last in round 14. Oh, had the 97. For some reason, I thought he went bigger than that. I'm not sure whether he got attention in that one. I don't think so. He's kind of been coasting a little bit. He's gone back to that sort of, you know, never so never really drops below 90 unless he's injured, but sort of capping out at that 105, 110, especially with Errol back in the side. But Yeah, I think with their run coming, I think it is time to jump on those Sydney boys if you have them.

Holmesy: With Jordan Dugowie out, which we're going to get to in a minute, the forward options are obviously starting to thin out, but it's probably not the week to get Horn Francis, isn't it? you'd You'd assume that ah James Jordan will run with him, especially if he's going to be going forward at times as well.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, so this is my dilemma because I don't have him and I kind of want him, but I think I'm going to hold off because Porta got Essendon in that last game, so I kind of want him for that. But also, I don't have Goulden and I think next week Goulden plays. Swans play Essendon next week, right? So Goulden's probably going to my main target next week.

JORDAN DSENA: So I guess it's just balancing your side of... I don't think it's it's the worst if you have to get him or you've got him and it's just it might be a lower score. But if you're planning ahead, you kind of want him for the next two games. So, um yeah, I think just playing your team. I think, you know, probably we'll go through the next game. But whoever's playing Essendon seems to be the target. So if you haven't got Baz, you probably need to target him. But, yeah, Gordon and Horn Francis are the two guys playing Essendon the next couple of weeks.

Holmesy: Yep, it's going to be a tough watch, not owning Baz this week. So just pray to the fantasy gods that he doesn't kill me too much.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah.

Holmesy: Let's go on to that game then. So pretty much at the same time, just starting a little bit later, which means, yeah, just be careful with your loops and things like that. So Geelong are playing Essendon down the highway at GMHBA Stadium.

Holmesy: We have Deconin coming in for Mitch Edwards, who's been managed. And then for Essendon, they've got Caldwell, Perkins, and Vigo Vicentini coming in for Angus Clark, Nick Bryan, and Harrison Jones. So you did touch on it.

Holmesy: The options are in this game, especially because, i mean, we do know that Geelong manage their players as well. So we need to keep that in the back of our minds. But they have Essendon now and then they have Richmond in round 23. So you're going to want stocks in the Geelong players.

Holmesy: Baz, I mean, you said it, right? I don't think Essendon run a tag with him. The only concern would be that they just dominate them so much that he's just a bit more feet feet up and and doesn't put up the ceiling score that we know he can do in in some other tougher matchups.

Holmesy: The name I want to throw by you and you know that I have him. Well, sorry, not have him. I'm considering him because I need to trade Petrarca out and I'm obviously dealing with Dugowie as well.

JORDAN DSENA: Mm-hmm.

Holmesy: if i ah don't yeah i'm I'm nervous about the forward option. So... Brian Myers is the the player that I'm thinking about targeting 747 So, uh, what's that price at 79 was a top six forward. Basically last year started the season, like a house on fire. And then obviously we know about his knee injury.

Holmesy: He came back in round 19, scored the 103. Then he got tagged against Melbourne for that 48. Tholstrup got him. And then last round against Collingwood, he was a bit out of it as well.

Holmesy: What do you think of him as a bit of a play knowing that he's going to have Essendon and Richmond in his next three?

JORDAN DSENA: Well, I think he's – right now he's better than Petrarca and Petrarca has to go. i don't hate it. Look, it's a risk, as you said. It's kind of like you're sort of taking two risks here, Zorko and Myers. They're both good ton.

JORDAN DSENA: They're both good, you know. But for his price, like – i don't I don't hate it. Like, it's great matchups. So, yeah, as you said, Essendon North Richmond on Selby's, on the Murrow's Magic, it's plus seven for inside midfielders. So, it's the second best behind Sydney. So, Sydney, again, is the best for defenders and the best for inside midfielders. And Geelong's second for inside midfielders. So, I know he doesn't really play inside. he sort of plays half forward, but he rolls up.

JORDAN DSENA: So, I've sort of been counting him um as that positive matchup there. Yeah. Look, I think you've got to get rid of Petrarca. You've got two forced trades. It's worth a punt. Hopefully, he can make some money. Worst case, you you just have to deal with it again next week or a week after.

Holmesy: What about his teammate, Sean Manor, who has been completely out of it this year, up and down, more down than up, but did have a 130 against GWS a month ago. Didn't score, hey backed it up with a 44, then had 82 against Melbourne and 65. So what, he's got two tons for the year against Brisbane for a 129 and then GWS for a 130. It's probably too risky that one, isn't it?

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, I think it's too risky. It's like, that's like a draft. It's not for me. It's like, that's almost like a one week play, not a three week play, which you need for the rest of the year.

Holmesy: Yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: Whereas Myers, like he could have him three weeks.

Holmesy: Yeah. No, I think you're right. And I don't have the 23rd to be looping. So he's he's that loop player that you want, right?

JORDAN DSENA: This is Luke player.

Holmesy: If you loop him from the bench. Yeah, fair enough. Tanner Bruin, still a cheapish defensive option. If you're shopping on a budget, he's he's looked good the last couple.

Holmesy: Jai Clark has the forward status who has a nice defensive role. But outside of that, I think you just, Baz or one of those other boys is where you want to be shopping for Essendon. I don't think there's any real options we're looking at. um Sam Durham, would you consider trading him out?

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, he's probably, he did do 90 last week. I traded him out a few weeks ago just to get those better options. I think you can trade him if your team's looking well because these forwards that we've got, there's actually a lot of options there that are going over 105 in the last five. So Sparrow, Brad Hill, obviously Sheez was there, Horn Francis, Chad Warner, Rankin.

JORDAN DSENA: Like there's six, there's your top six there. So I think if you if you need to upgrade somewhere, you can upgrade him. The other thing here I've heard the talk of is whether Zach Merritt gets a tag or not. So if you have Zach Merritt, would you be looping him?

JORDAN DSENA: Like if you had a Herbert and a Zach Merritt, um could do your loop, does Geelong tag or do they just let it run free? Because last year scored 130.

Holmesy: Yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: We all thought he was going to get tagged and it was that week, about this time of year. And a lot of people traded him out.

Holmesy: Traded him out, yep.

JORDAN DSENA: I held him and looped him and got a 130, which helped me a lot.

Holmesy: Yeah. I think you do probably loop if you've got a Herbert, but at the same time, he then has James Jordan the week after, right? So do you really want to loop him back to back?

Holmesy: um <unk> something to consider. 92 average in his last five. Let me just check the CBAs though because he has been more... Back in the midfield, Zach Merritt. So, yeah, last two weeks, 82% CBAs, 81% CBAs.

Holmesy: Easily his two highest since earlier on in the year. I think you back him in personally. I think looping is probably the option with a Herbert if you if you go down that path. And then, yeah, consider your options next week. I think that would be go. Moving...

JORDAN DSENA: you're The other, there's, well, Jai Clark is so cheap.

Holmesy: movie

JORDAN DSENA: He's like 568k. Could you go, if you needed money, could you go Petrarca down to him? Loop him.

Holmesy: Mm-hmm.

JORDAN DSENA: It's so risky. Or you go saw a bench option. Anyway, he's one that did come across my... trade-ins. Like, you can go Hulkahann to him, loop the extra thing, and then go Petrarca way up with that with the good matchup. So, yeah, anyway, just one that was on my radar this week.

Holmesy: Yeah, don't hate it. I know yeah i know mitch Mitch from the Bull Boys is the only coach in Australia that owns him at the moment, but you know good coach and saw something in it.

JORDAN DSENA: Might be an 80 or 90. yeah Yeah.

Holmesy: So yeah, don't hate it, especially for the price. But yeah, you're dabbling in those things.

JORDAN DSENA: It's a loop option, definitely. Yeah.

Holmesy: Yeah, dabbling in those areas at this time of year is ah yeah panic stations, but sometimes you have to do it. Saturday night, the standalone fixture, Adelaide versus Richmond. Before go into the teams, is it supposed to be raining pretty heavily on Saturday night in Adelaide?

JORDAN DSENA: Yes, I'm hearing this. So obviously I just got back, but I'm hearing it's going to be pretty wet. So let me just have a quick look. Right now it's okay in Adelaide. But...

JORDAN DSENA: but

Holmesy: While you're doing that, I'll just say the team. So Sam Berry and Pete Ling come back into the midfield with Rory Laird coming back in into defence. And Riley O'Brien has come in for McAndrew, who's been managed. Saligo's been managed.

Holmesy: Luke Nankovas and James Borlase are both injured. And for the Tigers, we've got Judson Clark and Steely Green coming in with Trena being suspended and Sam Cumming going out. I think, yeah, probably going to be quite a dour game if if it's raining, although Adelaide have been, you know, had some serious firepower with their scoring as of late.

Holmesy: We would think, you know, with the Richmond matchup that our captain option, fallback option might come from this game or even a VC if you want to be a little bit fruity with your loops with Dawson and Rankin, both pretty good options. I know Rankin had that 160-odd against Richmond earlier on in the year.

Holmesy: I don't know, Dawson's giving me vibes at the moment of just making sure he's cherry right for finals and and sort of letting everyone else do what they need to do. We haven't seen a ceiling from him for some time now. What are you thinking with those two in terms? I mean, ranking if you don't have him as a clear option in the forward line.

Holmesy: But yeah, talk me through those two.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, Dawson always, for some reason, he always worries me in the really weak matchups. He seems to do better in the tough matchups. When the games are like, he's an unbelievable player in the contest. Like we saw those games when he had the hard matchups. He went 150 and 130 when it matters, you know, early around the buyers when we brought him in. So I think...

JORDAN DSENA: I think if you haven't used your VC yet, a VC on Rankin or Dawson is is pretty juicy because you get a look at it and then you can roll into someone on the Sunday. But, yeah, I think Rankin is a a massive in. So looking at the weather, it says it's one to five mil on the Saturday at the moment and it looks like the Sunday's heavier rain. So I think it will be raining, but I don't think it's going to be like the worst. That obviously could change though as well.

JORDAN DSENA: um

Holmesy: Yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah.

Holmesy: You happy? Well, not happy, but if coaches are still rolling with Hugo Hall-Cahan, would you be you know rolling that on field against Richmond or do we want to fix that? He is named. Where is he named?

JORDAN DSENA: Same full forward. Yeah, forward pocket.

Holmesy: Forward pocket. That can't be right, surely. um Obviously, Laherty coming back in, but there was a few defenders that went out. I think you probably want to be looping him, right?

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah.

Holmesy: Yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, I just don't know if he's got the ceiling score. He's a good player. He's a 70 to 80 guy and he's probably solid for that. i just don't know if he's got this ceiling of a 110, 120.

JORDAN DSENA: He did 104 one time this year, but i just don't know if he's got that in his game compared to some of the other defenders. I think a loop... is a good option. But he's he's not the worst guy. Like, if you've got other things in your team you need to fix, you can put him straight on field for a 70, 80. But I just don't think that that this positive matchup is just going to automatically mean he's going to get 100, you know?

Holmesy: Yeah, I think he'd be still far more comfortable playing him on field at the moment over a Petrarca. So, yeah, obviously, yeah, more of an urgent trade-out.

JORDAN DSENA: Definitely.

Holmesy: i'll throw I'll throw another one to you because I am shopping in these risky areas in the forward line. Jack Ross coming back. So he's obviously had the concussion, taken a bit of time to work back into it. But if you give me two seconds...

Holmesy: So he, since he's come back from his concussion has gone, so he had the concussed 28 and then he's come back and gone 94, 93. Midfield role, what's he gone at CBA wise, 65 and 68%. So main midfielder in there alongside Taranto.

Holmesy: do you prefer him or do you prefer Grian Myers?

JORDAN DSENA: Hmm. Jeez. Ross just seems more safer than it. Like a safer 80, 90 guy. That's if you're looking for that, you're going to like before he went, he got concussed.

JORDAN DSENA: He was looking almost in that range of a, you know, top 15, 10 to 10 forward. So, uh, geez, if you want it.

Holmesy: Yeah, he he dropped off a bit he dropped off a bit though, didn't he?

JORDAN DSENA: Hmm.

Holmesy: So he went on that run. So from round eight, he went 99 against West Coast, 96, 101, 91. So a real good month, but then backed it up 74, 78 before getting that concussed 28.

JORDAN DSENA: And there's 60% game time in there. So don't know what's happened there. But he's back up. So I don't hate Jack Ross if you have to shop there. I think him and Myers are pretty similar. I just feel like maybe Ross is safer. But you might not get the ceiling that you could from a Myers with the Essendon matchup. If everything goes right.

Holmesy: Yeah, obviously thinking about the weeks coming up as well. So Adelaide this week's tough, then St Kilda, then Geelong. So obviously you're looking at, yeah, Myers with the better run and and not the better role, but Ross with the safer role. So still something I will consider and no doubt probably get wrong as always with the fantasy gods.

Holmesy: Moving on to the Sunday game, so only extended squads here. So all of the Gold Coast young guys, Murray, Patterson, Adensile, all managed with Euland, Davies, Witts, Closie, Goblin, and Farrar all coming into the squad.

Holmesy: No outs for JWS as of yet, but Riccardi, Green, and Stone have come into the squad. So obviously, Toby Green will come in there. Apparently, there's going to be a lot of rain in this one in Canberra.

JORDAN DSENA: Mmm...

Holmesy: So going to be cold and wet. Talk to me about our ah GWS boys. Are we still happy to jump into them? I mean, Lockie Ash has been underwhelming for a while now. I know he's, you know, a safe name and close enough to the top six, but what last, well, he's had two tons in his last four, I guess, 118, 102, but a lot of sort of 80s around that.

Holmesy: Pretty, pretty popular. So it's definitely probably Whitfield over him if yeah if you still don't own both of them.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, I think we're filled with the form now off the back of the game. But yeah, Ash, he's still a top six defender. he's not He's not like a guy that's screaming, pick me this week. So there's a few other options. But if you can get to him and you you need him, I think, you know, I assume most people have got him, but Ash at the moment. But yeah, I think I'd still be happy to to grab both of them if you haven't got the next three weeks.

Holmesy: I mean, the Gold Coast is the big concern, right? So, noel Anderson has been horrendously out of form, not getting it done. But Matt Rau seems to be up and about. So, he's got two 120 scores in his last month.

Holmesy: um You know, some 70s and 80s around that. But his tackling's been back up. So, in the last three games, 11 tackles, seven tackles, nine tackles. Is he an underpriced midfield option, you know, if you're on a budget still? Or do you think you just stay away from anything Gold Coast?

JORDAN DSENA: It's just that unpredictability, unpredictability of Gold Coast.

Holmesy: it.

JORDAN DSENA: Like, he's 919k. If you can get a little bit more money, you can get up to a golden and these sort of guys. Or even 950k, there's some other guys even in the defence.

JORDAN DSENA: Like, Chad Warner, if you've got DPP, he's 950. Horn France is 970. So, I ah don't know about Gold Coast. Like, Noah Anderson is another one I'm looking at trading out.

JORDAN DSENA: Although, inside midfielder this week, it's a plus. It's a positive matchup for them. So... And if it's going to be wet, like they probably are both going to go okay this week, but in, in to come it's a little bit tougher.

Holmesy: All right, talk to me about Johnny Noble then.

JORDAN DSENA: So I'm really intrigued about bringing in Noble just because of his ceiling. So we've seen here that Jai Murray is out. So he was playing the wing role and Zeke Ulan's named on the wing. So I'm assuming Zeke Ulan's going to play wing.

JORDAN DSENA: Noble's not going to go up on that wing anymore. He's going be half back. I didn't see the game, but I heard that there was a bit of switch. He had a bit of piggery about him. He's got the ceiling of 150.

Holmesy: Oh, yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: Like I'm always keen to just take a punt on it. If I get a 60, get a 60. If I get a 130, I'm going to be flying up the ranks. So I'm almost looking at going so wrong to Noble.

JORDAN DSENA: And then looping Herbert and then doing some other things around my team with Houston and Pickett and stuff like that. Because I feel like I could gain a lot of points. But he's just so hard to read. i don't know how to read him.

JORDAN DSENA: um At home, obviously, has a great record. He's playing away. What's changed? I don't know. Like, he's so hard to read. There's role change. Agolko's playing a different style. It looks like Petrarch is out of the midfield now.

JORDAN DSENA: They're trying a few different things. you know Humphrey's named on ball. Does that mean that they're trying to chip it around a bit more in the back half? like He's so hard to read. I just think maybe I should just take the punt at his price and hopefully he can buck the trend.

Holmesy: Yeah, I know some other pods have been throwing the stats out there on John Noble's home versus away stats. So pretty much all of his ceiling games have been at home and then a away he's he hasn't been very good at all.

Holmesy: And they don't play at home again for the rest of the year. However, I'll leave the i'll leave you to do some research, Jordy, but the three teams that he's coming up against to finish the year, he all he went 130 plus in all three of them, I think. So...

Holmesy: Form versus opponent is there.

JORDAN DSENA: He went 144 against Giants.

Holmesy: Yeah. Yeah. Although I dare say it might be a bit different on a cold, wet day in Canberra. But, yeah, it's the ceiling's there, right? And, yeah, I don't think I can go there. But, man, any coach that had him last week for that 150, and especially I know a good mate of mine traded into him for that 150, like any player that can do that at this time of year is absolute gold.

Holmesy: I don't think there's much else to sort of talk about. Clayton Oliver's been down again after a pretty hot sort of month, two-month patch there in the middle of the year. um But clearly there's not going to be a tag here, I wouldn't have thought, although Took Miller did run with Cozzy last week.

Holmesy: So who knows who knows really what the Gold Coast are going do. So I think for that reason, I'd stay it stay out of that.

JORDAN DSENA: Hmm.

Holmesy: We have West Coast versus Collingwood, the middle game on the Sunday. ah Lots of players out for Collingwood. So Howe, Perryman, Lipinski, Pendlebury, Dugowie, all out with ah not even going to say them, a whole bunch of names coming in for the Eagles, extended squads, but you've got Harvey Johnston and Sandy Brock out.

Holmesy: Finn McRae might make his debut, which would be interesting for West Coast, but I suppose, I mean, two of the only coaches in Australia that still have him, but We pretty much have to hold Dan Houston now, don't we, with all of those defender outs.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, I'm 100% holding Houston. So Perryman's out. Jeremy Howe's out. Houston's got a pretty good role. Like Champion Dada did a tweet, if you haven't had a look, about all the scores without Howe.

JORDAN DSENA: All the numbers are there. Perryman, not Perryman, Pendlebury played a little bit of halfback last week. So just think with all three of them out, it has to be him that takes all the ball out.

JORDAN DSENA: behind there. Josh Dacos is also there, but I've got a feeling Murdoch might go to him, which leaves Houston as the guy that's going to hopefully take all the kickouts and all the ball is going to go through him. So I have to hold him and I'm a lot more confident just fielding Houston, I think, on field this week and just especially with some of these other injuries that you've got. And yeah, I think I'm hoping Dacos here just...

JORDAN DSENA: you know once that and Obviously, they're saying in the Brown though is sort of his, but I'm hoping he just puts the burners on and you know geek wants another three-vote game and really just yeah just a good captain option on the Sunday if one of these VCs fail.

Holmesy: going to say, is he your fullback captain option at this point?

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, I think so. yeah they They can try and tag him, but he's just he's just way too good.

Holmesy: Yeah, ah he's he's blind too.

JORDAN DSENA: Marlon tried to go with him the other week. You just can't. He's too good.

Holmesy: I think it's obviously too late now, but Darcy Cameron's still there in in incredible form over the last month, plays the Eagles, so that's a pretty soft matchup. Outside of that, I'm not sure there's too much to sort of talk about. I'm not sure where Brady Hoff goes, but he hasn't really been tagging in the midfield recently. They've just been kind of developing their players and letting Harley Reid go head-to-head.

Holmesy: Ders has obviously been out of the midfield a little bit, so, yeah, I think Nick Dacos as a full-back captain option could be large.

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, the only one so is that Marcus Herbert. So if you do have him, um I'm considering, yeah, just putting him on a field or looping him as an option. It's a shame that they play.

Holmesy: Oh yeah, absolutely.

JORDAN DSENA: It's a shame they play last game because you can't get ah a look at it. But I'm almost looking at, yeah, trading out. So if you've got a Merritt or Sorong or someone like this, I'm looking at whether I just trade one of them out. So I think I'm pretty confident Herbert's going to go well against the Pies on Sunday.

Holmesy: Yeah, now with the form that he's in. Where's he where's he named?

JORDAN DSENA: Halfback.

Holmesy: Halfback. Yep. Playing so well that, ah yeah, Tom McCarthy really has taken a backwards seat.

JORDAN DSENA: He's not even on the field, Tom McCarthy.

Holmesy: Last...

Holmesy: Yeah, that's that's what I mean. But, I mean, they can change leading up. But, yeah, definitely is the main distributor back there. Final game of the round. So, no outs for St Kilda just yet with Sharman, Butler and McRae coming into the squad.

Holmesy: ah No outs for Carlton either, but we have Charlson, Ollie Hollins, good to see him back, and Flynn Young into the squad. Big talking point is Nassai Wanganeen-Milera didn't train today, and we know he had that hip injury that made him fade out in the last quarter of the game on the weekend.

Holmesy: Always nervous when you there's an injury cloud on a player, especially a superstar like him. like They're not going to name him out. Over the weekend, it's going to be right up to. um So i suppose the really important thing for me is I've actually, with my trades this week, I've pivoted him into the midfield just to be safe, which now I think about it probably wasn't the right thing to do because I wanted to maybe loop Noah Anderson. But ah it's it's really important that this week, wherever Nassaya is, that you don't play the loop game and you're smart that you've got ah an emergency score to cover him if he is going to be

Holmesy: gonna be out

JORDAN DSENA: Yeah, 100%. I think he'll be fine. like It's a Sunday game, but and he's hit a lot more time from missing today to a Sunday. But again, yeah, make sure you've cover. I'm really excited for these last two games, actually, with Dacos and Herbert and then rolling into some of these loop options because a lot of people will have a banfield or you might have...

JORDAN DSENA: um yeah, a few of these guys that you can use as a loophole. So I'm pretty keen to see, yeah, I mean, there's so many options and there's so many like like Brad Hill, for example, whereas TPP is so flexible where if you've got Messiah and Hill, if you've got them one in the midfield or one in defence, you can just flick them around and um or even flick them forward and try and like, you know, if there is a laid out to cover that.

Holmesy: So Brad Hill, very expensive now. What's he priced at? 111, but the form is absolutely there. Carlton is tough um for to score against, although I'm not sure what run Selby's got here when he's a mid-forward defender. I'm not sure, but it's red. it's red But then they play Richmond and then followed by Gold Coast. So two really good matchups to finish.

Holmesy: would you be Would you be buying into Brad Hill this week or do you think you'd probably wait until next week?

JORDAN DSENA: Oh, it's one of those things of like, do you just grab, if you can, if you've got the opportunity this week, just grab him and then you know that if you can, if it's a low 88 or a 90 or something like he did a few weeks ago against a tough matchup. The thing is, is,

JORDAN DSENA: I feel like this game could open up a bit and maybe it is a few high scoring. It just kind of feels like that on a Sunday late night. So we'll see what happens. But I think you can still go in like Richmond and Gold Coast and last two. You're going to want him in as a forward.

JORDAN DSENA: um Like he's going at like 120, I think it is. So... I think if you can't only get it, like if you've got the opportunity to get you don't know what's going to happen next week with injuries and stuff.

Holmesy: Yeah, it's huge.

JORDAN DSENA: I wouldn't shy away from it if you can't. But just be prepared. It might not be a ceiling.

Holmesy: What are doing with Rowan Marshall?

JORDAN DSENA: ah Yeah, I don't know what to do with Marshall.

Holmesy: Named it full forward.

JORDAN DSENA: I don't know what to do. So last time, so Carlton's a great matchup for Rucks. um he got 124 last time against the Blues with TDK on the side, kicked three goals.

JORDAN DSENA: The problem is, is last week, he just looked so bad. Like i wasn't watching, but like as you were saying with Parker, the score was just not ticking. It was like 40, 42. And then he just got to the 81 because TDK went down. So I'm kind of scared of that, but I'm kind of like want to hold him one more and just see what happens.

Holmesy: Yeah, ah's it's fair. I suppose if you are running a 23rd option in the forward line and and maybe that there's an 80 or a 90 from the bench, I think he's probably the one that maybe comes off because he he can drop a 50 or a 60 in that role.

Holmesy: um And Carlton aren't the same side now as when they played St. Kilda early on in the year, are they? Like that would have been that would have been the Vos.

JORDAN DSENA: No, that would have with Michael Voss. Yeah.

Holmesy: Yeah, correct. So it's a bit different. um Yeah, it's – yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: is like Is TDK durable? like I just got this feeling, yeah, like Marshall, yeah, okay, he not have the role, but TDK, he's coming in with a hip.

Holmesy: Of course not.

JORDAN DSENA: like I don't know. I'm kind of inclined to just risk it with the 23rd if I can loop a picket or something and maybe just get another look at it for another week. just You never know with TDK.

Holmesy: Yeah, yeah, that's fair. um Do we think there's any tags running in this game? Saints have been running tags for most of the year.

JORDAN DSENA: Bokshu, I think, did a job the other week, so maybe to Cripps. Nassai, probably Hewitt might try and do a job on him.

JORDAN DSENA: Last time they tried Lockie Cowan, it didn't really work, but maybe they they run um George Hewitt.

Holmesy: Cowan, yeah.

JORDAN DSENA: I wouldn't be too worried. I think you probably aren't going to see Nassiah because of this the his mis-training and stuff like that. I would go with someone else. So I think think you should be okay. And if he does get a bit of attention, I think hopefully he's still up a good score.

Holmesy: Wouldn't surprise me Ross doing a little bit of ah a Ross move and sorry, maybe running a box show with Jagger Smith to young guys, potentially Walsh hasn't really been in the in the form, but they have still, he's still kind of been the tag guy, maybe a windy goes head to head with Cripps, but he hasn't really been in form either.

JORDAN DSENA: Hmm.

Holmesy: So I suppose the thing is you never really know with Ross. So um yeah. right, Jordy, we will wrap that up. But before we do that, why don't you just give everyone your trades for the week? As as I said, you're the informed coach, mate. So let us all follow you.

JORDAN DSENA: All right, I haven't locked these in yet, but there's two options. Let's just quickly... So Petrarca has to go. So I'm looking at Chad Warner in for him. I've got 211k.

JORDAN DSENA: And the next trade is the one up in the air. So I can either go Noah Anderson to John Noble. I can go Sorong to Zorko.

Holmesy: Wee.

JORDAN DSENA: um is one. So like can I can get Noble and Zorko for Sorong and Petrarca. So it's either Noble and Zorko for Sorong and Park Petrarca or it's Noble and Chad Warner for Anderson and Petrarca.

JORDAN DSENA: And that allows me to loop Houston and Herbert and take one of their scores.

Holmesy: ah'll ah I'll leave that to you, mate, considering we are in competition to finish the year. I wouldn't want to wouldn't want to influence you in any way, but I trust that you make the right decision there.

Holmesy: As I said, guys, thank you again for tuning in. Apologies that the podcast was so late this week. Life has got in the way, but... Two rounds to go. We're hoping to finish strong. There will be a podcast for you every week to finish off the year.

Holmesy: Just, yeah, hoping to make it more regular moving forward. Make sure you are subscribed to us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to our content.

Holmesy: Make sure you're following us on X at PodPod AFL. I'm at Holmes is Heroes. The round 22 has started. Bit of an interesting match going on between Bont and Sheezo at the moment. Bont lost ahead, which is nice to see for my VC, but neither of them going super large at the moment. So hopefully they can finish strong in the last quarter.

Holmesy: As I said, we'll be back next week to review round 22 and to charge home towards the back end of the year. Good luck and we will chat to you then. Bye.

JORDAN DSENA: Bye. aye
