Speaker: This is a Muck Stain Productions Podcast.
Speaker: Hello, and welcome back Pokefans and trainers, and welcome to Unknown Radio, your Mugstain production Pokemon talk show where we take a peek at every single Pokemon. I'm Claudia, and I'm here with my co -host and best bud for life, Catherine. Hello. Once again, I'm here with the pizzazz while Claudia has the facts. And this is probably my favorite episode yet.
Speaker: because we are going to talk about the number one Kanto and number four rated overall best Pokemon, Charizard buzzing, literally buzzing. So this is like the big beefy boy.
Speaker: This is the boy that you want, like the reason you get Charmander. And he's like, at least in the animes, like the one of the strongest Pokemon. Oh yeah. Even in the games. He's in like every game, like even if you can't catch Charmander, there's usually someone that has a Charizard at some point and like at the end of the game, you can get a Charmander.
Speaker: Which is so cool. Always gotta be a Charizard. It's not Pokemon without Charizard. He is a dragon. He's the goat dragon. Pray to self all time. He is the goat dragon. And he is a fire and flying type because he has wings now. But do you know what his tagline is? Fire tornado. Very close. You're not gonna believe this. You ready? Yeah.
Speaker: He is also the flame Pokemon. Oh, man. He loved me to a sole sense of security last time. No, they mixed things up. Yeah, they mixed things up. The Charmander's not the same as Charmeleon, but surprise, surprise, Charizard just carries it on. God damn it, Charizard. So his name is a combination of Charcoal and Lizard, which is lame, but it sounds really cool.
Speaker: Yeah, it does. Charizard, it just has some pizzazz, some vavavoom. I do like a bit of pizzazz. And he may be based off European dragons, which are heavily associated with the element of fire. So that makes complete sense. It does. And he looks like a dragon. He does. He looks like if you Google like dragon, or like specifically European dragon, they look just like Charizard. I think it helps that he's got different coloured wings.
Speaker: Yeah, it doesn't all like blend in. He just looks cooler. He is the coolest. So what does this Pokémon look like? He looks like a European dragon, Claudia. He's got two horns now. He's got green wings. And he's still got that tummy that you kind of want to tickle. Probably be a bad idea to tickle it, but I still want to. But interestingly, he's a lot lighter than Charmeleon.
Speaker: Oh, no, he - Oh, the color -wise? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he's gone back to the - Not white -wise! Jesus Christ, you see the size of him! So he's gone back to the nice original orange color from Charmander. But have you ever seen a shiny Charizard? I'm - No, but I have seen a mega Charizard. Okay. So the shiny Charizard, which is like the alternate color that you can strive to get, is black.
Speaker: with red wings and the same colour tummy. That's kind of cute. It's so cool. That's like the absolute chase for shiny Pokemon. People love a shiny Charizard. Does he look more dragony? Oh yeah, he looks like evil. I love that. Yeah. So what surprised me is that Charizard is only 5 foot 7.
Speaker: Holy crap, I'm bigger than a Charizard. Yeah. He's 5 '7 and 199 .5 pounds, which actually isn't that much. Oh, that's only 90 kilograms? That's ridiculous. He looks like he's a lot heavier than that, right? And he looks like he's a lot bigger than he is. He's so small.
Speaker: And then when you're watching the TV show, he towers over Ash, and then I remember that Ash is a 10 -year -old boy. Yeah, but I don't tower over 10 -year -olds. Not five for eight.
Speaker: Well, you're one inch taller than a Charizard, you can hold your head up high now knowing that as a fact. I'm in absolute shock now. You can continue this episode on your own because I think I'm speechless. Right. I will go into his characteristics a little bit. So they say that Charizard's fire breath is so hot that it can turn any material to slag.
Speaker: They can be very dangerous and aggressive if provoked. Are you laughing over slag? Yeah. Yeah. They can turn any material into a whore. Are you slag? No, I just see the Charizard. Oh, sorry, my bad. Sorry, I didn't mean to slut shame you there. Your body, bro.
Speaker: I mean, in terms of Pokemon that probably have the Riz and could walk into a bot and just pull anybody that they wanted to date, that would be Charizard. So his breath can turn anybody's legs to jelly, apparently, as well as metal to slack.
Speaker: Charmander, the sexiest Pokémon there is. Jesus. So, though it says that Charizard can be very dangerous and aggressive if they are provoked, it is very friendly and affectionate towards its trainer. So very much calmed down from its predecessor. So maybe like a thing for Charmillion to evolve into Charizard is getting that
Speaker: mutual respect and that, you know, really trusting its trainer, which is cute. Charizard only ever ignores its trainer if it feels like its trainer does not care about it. Oh, that's kind of cute. So just never heard its feelings. Like it's got a real soft side to it. Right. He's scary on the outside, but actually really affectionate. And you can hurt his feelings really easily if he thinks that you don't care.
Speaker: Do you think his tail goes down when he's feeling sad too? Like a charm? I would think so, yeah. That's cute. Yeah. Little charm, like a Charizard. Just don't hurt its feelings or hang its little head and its little tails that going down and flickering and getting real weak. I reckon its wings will just start to like sag a little bit too. It's like Tinkerbell. Yeah. But a dragon. Aww.
Speaker: So Charizard are known for being very noble and will not turn the full power of their flame on opponents that are significantly weaker than they are. That's fair enough. Which is the complete polar opposite of Charmeleon. Yeah, completely. It's definitely calmed down since Charmeleon. It's calmed down, it does not seek out any battle and it purposely does not want to harm things that are weaker than itself. What a lovely stand -up guy.
Speaker: Right. It's like a complete 180. Talk about, you know, a glow up.
Speaker: Yeah, like what happened, like Charmeleon, it was really like the dark times, like what happened there, right? So, even though Charizard's are known to be very eager to battle, they seek out stronger foes, and they only use their fire breath during battles when they see that their foes are worthy of that, because only a weak Charizard will show off its power.
Speaker: Oh, that's interesting. Whereas Charmeleon would just beat up anything it can just for fun. Charizard go the complete 180 and it's like the, because they've lived through that stage in life, you know, if there's a Charizard out there that's still trying to show off, then they just say, well, you're obviously doing that because you're weak and you haven't, you know, you haven't matured and you're not woke like the rest of us Charizards. So you can go sit over there. We don't like you anymore.
Speaker: Did you just use the word woke? I did. I don't know how I feel about that. But it makes sense with Charizard's, right? Yeah, it does. It does. I'll give you that. It's the vibe. He just seems like a stand -up guy now. As I was gonna say, he's a real stand -up fellow, this one. Yeah. I like him. I do too. He's got more personality than I thought.
Speaker: Yeah, he's not just out there just to, you know, kick ass and take names. He's got like a moral code. Yeah, which I really like because I kind of just thought it was badass. But now I know that he's actually really small. Right. He's like the epitome of like a super cool, super strong, super sexy person.
Speaker: who actually has this really nice, affectionate kind of... He's a 10 -10 across the board. Looks, personality, standards. Standards. Get yourself a partner that is like a Charizard and you cannot go wrong. We'll fight for you.
Speaker: But not just for fun. Yeah. And don't hurt their feelings because they get really sad. And that, yeah, that makes me sad. You don't want to upset Charmander. Charizard. It's this again. It's the Bulbasaur again.
Speaker: And you know what, and he likes a cuddle. Oh, can you imagine how nice it be? Like, say you're out on a walk and you get lost and it's cold and it's dark and you're with your Charizard and he just picks you under his wing and he's got the fire off his tail and he's just keeping you nice and toasty while you have a little nap. You've got nothing to worry about because you know he's never going to let anything harm you. Yeah.
Speaker: Oh, what a gem. So Charizard has three different forms that we're going to talk about. Buzz in, let's go. Like the Venusaur had the mega evolution, right? Charizard have two mega evolutions because why not? It's Charizard and Charizard's the best.
Speaker: Yeah, facts. So the first one we're going to talk about is Mega Charizard X. And this is Charizard's Mega Evolution from using Charizardite X. Do you know what this Pokemon look like? Is this the blue one that's kind of got a blue flame and then blue flames out of its face? Mm hmm. So it's like blue and black. Yeah. And then it's got weirdly spiky wings.
Speaker: Yeah, so it's reminiscent of that shiny Charizard. It's got a black body, blue belly, blue wings, and you're right, the flames coming out of its mouth and on the two of its tail are blue and white. Yeah. Which is really cool. It's the same height as Charizard, but it goes all the way up to a whopping 243 .6 pounds. Two hundred. And 43 .6.
Speaker: What? 110 kilograms are still not huge. It's not huge, but it's bigger than the regular roll Charizard. Yeah. And this guy, instead of being fire flying like the normal Charizard, this goes to fire dragon.
Speaker: Dragon Pokemon, they're just the best. Yeah, so this guy, it's core body temperature is even hotter. You know, hence the color of the flames and the color of the body. Oh, I hadn't even thought of that. That's so cool. So this is the Charizard that you want if you want like a real dragon that you want to, you know, beat people and burn people. And that kind of very offensive and powerful fighting style. This is the Charizard for you.
Speaker: Amazing. He's super cool. Yeah, he is. And the other type of Charizard we have is the Mega Charizard Y, which is if you Mega Evolve a Charizard using Charizard Eye Y. Do you know what this Pokémon looks like? No, I only know the black and blue one.
Speaker: Okay. So this is also a fire, a fire flying type. So very similar to the mega Venusaur from regular Venusaur. It's normal Charizard, but just a little bit cooler. So its horns get longer at the top of its head and the wings get even larger and they also.
Speaker: grow an additional set of wings on its arms. Okay. So it's really, this one really focuses on, you know, flying in speed and evasiveness and agility rather than the other Charizard. And it's said to have incredible flying prowess that it, that flies farther and faster than a jet fighter. Oh, damn. Yeah. So this is really the agility Pokemon.
Speaker: Right, this is the Pokémon for you if you want to focus on that speed to win your battles. So it's two very different Charizard's for two very different fighting styles. Which one would you go for? Oh, X. Yeah, same. Give me a dragon anytime. Yeah, I'm not a defensive or agility -based trainer at all. I like the biggest moves that do the most power. Don't talk to me about Tail Whip.
Speaker: god damn tail whip i'm all fire blast all the time yes i'm no i'm with you if it looks cooler i'm down i would love to see these two in a battle together though i mean it'd be pretty cool i don't know who would win um
Speaker: Probably, you know what, not to shit on the way that we play Pokemon, but it will probably be the fast one that would win. Yeah, probably. Especially if they've got pre -equal stats, other than the agility. And all of the animes, you always can beat the really strong ones by, you know, agility and using their own strength. Yeah, but I also feel like the animes are there to teach kids that
Speaker: They don't have to be the strongest to win because they've got to give some good morals, haven't they? I've got to learn something from Pokémon. It's not just for fun. I've been watching a lot recently, so it's not just for fun. The third form of Charizard is the Gigantamax Charizard. Do you know what this thing looks like?
Speaker: I'm just gonna assume it's just massive and has extra flat flames.
Speaker: Absolutely 91 foot and 10 inches. Damn! That's what I assumed the original Charizard was. 91 foot tall? How heavy is that motherfucker? No record. Oh god you know he's a beast. 91 foot! I've got to, I'm sorry, I've got to convert that because I can't even imagine that right now. One sec.
Speaker: I'm going into meters. That's 29 .6 meters. He's a big old boy. How many miles is that? Oh, it's not quite a mile. Probably getting up on there though. Actually, surprisingly not. It's actually 0 .01, 0 .02 miles. But nautical miles? No, even less.
Speaker: As Gigantamax Charizard, it becomes larger and physically fit. The wings are transformed into literal flames. Oh damn. Imagine 91 foot flames just coming at you. Absolutely horrifying. I don't even care what Pokémon had in front of me. I'd be gone. Right. What the hell could even tackle that? Maybe like a giant Gyarados that's just a ball of water.
Speaker: But like, honestly, nah. Yeah, other than that, absolutely nothing could take this thing down. No. So those massive flames on its back increased whenever it was. The wings are capable of being hotter than magma. I don't even know how hot magma is, but that's gotta be hot. It's like hot enough to burn rocks.
Speaker: Well yeah, I know that, that's what I mean. I couldn't tell you the exact degree Celsius, but I know it's hot enough to make rocks liquid. So that's pretty hot. If you started with this guy, you wouldn't have any problem at Brock's gym. No, absolutely not. Just melt his geodude. Oh, do you know what Brock can leave though?
Speaker: This is absolutely terrifying, is the Jagantomet Charizard. Back to our cuter, nice gentleman Charizard. We'll move on to our little question section.
Speaker: So if you were just hanging around, going on another little hike, you're going on a lot of hikes recently, what's going on? I really am. And I've ran volcanoes. Have I moved to Iceland or something? Maybe. So you're wandering around in Iceland, around the volcano in Iceland, and you walk into a clearing and there was just a charizard there taking a nap. What would you do?
Speaker: I would love to try and befriend it, but I don't know how easy it'd be. I mean, again, I'm willing to spend maybe even two weeks trying to befriend this charizard because I reckon you could. Just kind of hang around and give him lots of terms of endearment and words of affirmation. Yeah. Bring it through. Play him the Snoop Dogg song, you know? Yeah. His feelings matter. So you just want to really prove to him that
Speaker: You want to be his friend and then you will never ever be mean to him ever. Yeah. But I reckon I'd put in a good solid two weeks to make him my friend. So you'd have to like properly date him. Yeah, I'd take him out for dinner. I would too. Whatever he wanted, I would fit the bill.
Speaker: Yeah, it's on the house. You know, I'll buy you a gator, if you want. Just a whole gator. See, he can cook it. I mean, I'm upset that I can't ride him. Like, he can't fly me anywhere. You can actually ride on Charizard's. He's the same height as me, Claudia. They do it in the anime. The anime is 10 year old! He can do it. He's a strong guy.
Speaker: But I would try and befriend it and I would like to take it home. He would like, you would have to treat, he like, he's not a pet. So he'd have to be like a life partner. Are you telling me you've got a crush on Charizard? I mean, you'd have to, because he doesn't like getting upset. He's very loyal and very affectionate. You could not date someone else when you have a Charizard. They need all of your attention.
Speaker: I reckon it'd be just like a needy friend or like having a child. He'd be your best man at your wedding. He would. He'd pull you down the aisle. Ah, so Charizard becomes your dad. Oh my God, he'd fly you down the aisle. Okay, I take it back. No, you don't have to date Charizard. You become its child. Yeah. You belong to Charizard. Charizard doesn't belong to anybody. No.
Speaker: Yeah, exactly. You become Charazade's child. But that I think is payment for putting up with the Charmeleon phase. You know what, that's like you have to parent Charmeleon and then in return Charazade parents you kind of like how when your parents get older, then you have to look after them. Exactly. Exactly like that. Yeah, I've got a lot of time for it.
Speaker: So, aside from battling, what functions do you think, or job, or whatever you think a Charizard could do? I reckon he could... Do you know what? That's what getting working for Royal Mail. Because the way the postal service is at the moment, we could do with some flyers. Just him with his little mailbag? Yeah.
Speaker: You know what? He'd be a good local mail carrier because he'd just love everybody and he'd love all the cards he'll get for Christmas. And he could just fly out. Cards for Christmas? Oh yeah, you're American. I was like, what? Cards for Christmas? But no, he would, wouldn't he? He'd get pets and I reckon people would leave him out snacks. Oh, he would be Santa. Oh my God.
Speaker: Another job for him pulling Santa's sleigh. Oh. When Rudolph's ill, you know. Use that tail. Yeah. You got this.
Speaker: Another job for him, he could manage the building site we're gonna have Charmeleon's on. Absolutely. But he's like the really nice manager that everybody loves. Like you have to have a really horrible manager as well to like balance out that work, you know. Yeah, like a like a moody Blastoise. And then you have this guy. Yeah.
Speaker: Between the two of them, I reckon they'd make it great. Yeah. And if you're looking a bit sick, you know, he'd be the one to bring you a piracy tomorrow. Yeah. He'd tell you to go home half hour early, you know. Yeah, he would. Like, and if you work, you have to work the day before like a holiday or something. He'd be like, all right, everybody go home. You know, he'd bring the best thing to potlucks. What's a potluck?
Speaker: Oh my God, when everybody brings a dish and then you have like a buffet of everybody's food. So you get invited around someone's house for dinner, but you have to bring your own dinner. It's like an event. So like someone will bring like chips and queso that they've made. Someone else could bring a casserole. Someone else would bring a potato salad. A casserole? Roy likes casserole.
Speaker: But yeah, that kind of thing. He'd bring the best thing. I mean, I reckon he'd be a nice guy to have around. He'd be great at a dinner party. Oh yeah, he'd clean up. Like, yeah, he'd offer to help you out, you know. He's just everybody's dad. Yeah. I don't want to reference Mark again, but... This is also my dad. This is also Mark. So what do you reckon he eats? Anything. Oh yeah.
Speaker: Like, I mean, sure he's a nice guy, but... A man's got to eat. Yeah, he's definitely a carnivore. You know, maybe, you know, maybe an omnivore, but I reckon he's going after them, Woolies. You could just fly in, just swoop down, pick it up. He'd kill him quickly, though. I reckon he'd just swallow him down. Oh, like a snake. And, you know, he doesn't kill for sport just when he's hungry.
Speaker: Just when he's hungry, yeah. Exactly. It'd be all right, I reckon. He's a really stand -up fella. I like him. I like him. I am still really upset that I've learnt how small he is, though. Right. Maybe they differ in height. Maybe they could be a big one. They live until they're 30 years old. Maybe they just keep growing. Jesus Christ, if we were char...charazons, we'd be dead.
Speaker: Shortly. I'd only have a year left. In a few months. Oh, God. Imagine an old Charizard. Oh, it'd be like your grandpa telling you stories back in the day. All right, Granddad Charizard, go on down. Just graying at the edges. Yeah. A little bit flaky, but you love them anyway. I'd imagine wearing a scarf. I don't know why, but I can see it. A little pair of round glasses. Yeah.
Speaker: So, could we eat a Charizard? We could. Again, I don't think we would. Yeah. I reckon he'd be really tough. Yeah, I don't reckon it'd be very enjoyable. That's a lot of power in something that's only five foot seven. I know. A lot of muscle. Is muscle the good bit of the meat? I guess it depends on the type of muscle, like if it's really beefy and really strong.
Speaker: that it's super tough, right? I don't know. I don't really understand how I just eat meat. I don't understand the mechanics of the meat I'm eating.
Speaker: It'd be really tough, I reckon, like a jerky. No, because jerky is dried out, isn't it? See, I know what that is. But if he does have this flame running inside of him at all times, would he be pretty dried out? Yeah, I reckon so. I don't think he'd be enjoyable to eat. Or he tastes off. Yeah, he wouldn't taste good. So if you're just, again, in Iceland, just hanging out and you walk into a bar and sitting at the bar, there's a, you know,
Speaker: a Charizard there with his little spectacles on just reading a newspaper and he turns around at you and you've had a couple of drinks so you know you like to pick fights when you've had a couple of drinks in you. You start provoking this Charizard that's just minding his own business and he sees you as a worthy opponent and initiates a fight with you. Who would win? I want to say I could take him.
Speaker: But all I'm thinking about is his wings. You know how a swan's wings are hella powerful? I'm thinking one swipe of his wing and he could take me out. He'd like have a really good wing attack or aerial ace or something. I think if I snuck up behind him and like saucebund his head.
Speaker: I'd be in with a chance. But I think if he initiated it, I think he just, he'd wing me. He'd wing slap me out of it. Right. And then if he sees you as powerful enough, he could just flamethrower you and turn you into slag. Exactly. I need a Charizard to do that. Yeah, I would definitely not be able to win a fight against this thing. Nah. I would mostly my feelings would be hurt that, well, I'd
Speaker: half be impressed that he sees me as a worthy opponent. I'd take that to my grave. Yeah. You know me, I'd be broken about that for years. I might be dead, but a Charizard once saw me as a worthy opponent and then goes in the battle. I'd be ringing you right, my eulogy. This is what I want on my gravestone. And everyone to know about it.
Speaker: But my feelings would also be hurt that he fought me in the first place. I guess if, if we're saying Grandpa Charizard, I would be a little bit hurt. Yeah. With a little sweater vest on. I like how we're fully dressing him now. It started off as a scarf. Now he's got his round spectacles and a sweater vest. What's next? Some little slippers. The black hat. The high socks.
Speaker: It's a little short, so it's like he's been playing golf, bless him. He's fully dressed for golf with a little mustache. I love him. Oh look, mustache. Yeah, he's got a mustache. Who? My dad? Yep. Absolutely fantastic. That's so funny.
Speaker: I know we already both loved Charizard, but what do you think? Do you like him more now? I'm going to be honest with you, I'm slightly disappointed. He's so short. Yeah, I literally thought I could ride him like the scene from Harry Potter where they escape on that giant dragon. I thought he was going to be massive. But no, he's just a regular sized guy. He's smaller than me.
Speaker: Yeah. And you can't even, I mean, you could, you could ride the Gigantamax Charizard. Yeah. I mean, I could, but the Gigantamax one isn't the wholesome one that we know and love. Yeah. I love that he's a lot nicer than we thought. Right. I thought he was a bit of a dick. I thought he was going to be a bit of a dick. We were wrong. We judged the book by its cover, Catherine. We did. And you should never judge a book by its cover. You got to get to know the Charizard for who they are on the inside.
Speaker: It's just so right. I'm also now Googling Charizard Old Man. Anything good? No, but the image I have in my head is so strong and I wish I could draw. Right. I might have to give it a shot. In summary, Charizard, you're incredible, but you could be taller. Yeah. Short King. Short King, yeah.
Speaker: It's your only downfall. And with that, we say goodbye to Charizard, but it's okay because next week we are starting on our third and final of the Kento Stata trio. Little Squirtle! Pew pew pew! Pew pew pew pew!
Speaker: And I'm super excited. So we will catch you guys next week. And I was going to write you a goodbye note, but I wasn't sure what to say. I don't get that one. Write you. Oh, man. Right. Well, I'll see you next week.
Speaker: That's all I got. I win that one. I'm speechless. I'm absolutely speechless, mate.
