Episode Introduction and Activities

00:00:31
Speaker
What's up, what's up, everyone? It's your girl, Tammy, and I'm back for episode two, and I'm back from Las Vegas. If you saw episode one, you saw that I was at Champs, running around, doing everything, smoking, rolling, chilling with Big Snoop Dogg, and now I'm back for episode two. 00:00:59
Speaker
My girl Stephanie, who is VP of Khalifa Kush, hit me up and let me know that the brand is dropping a new strain and doing a meet and greet in downtown l LA, so I figured I'd pop by.

Cannabis News: Point Breeze Strain

00:01:09
Speaker
Khalifa Kush is owned by the one and only Wiz Khalifa, who, besides Snoop Dogg, is probably the most identifiable stoner on planet Earth.
00:01:19
Speaker
KK is absolutely one of those strains that has ingrained itself within the culture. And although I love Khalifa Kush, I'm really excited about the new strain drop, which is called Point Breeze. I also really wanted to have a chance to sit down and ask Wiz, what was the meaning behind this name? And so much more.
00:01:37
Speaker
So check it out.

Rolling Perfect Joints Tutorial

00:02:35
Speaker
So yeah, so you would put your weed in here, filter here you're into that, then tobacco, rose petals, herbs, whatever else you want to fill in, close it, spin it, and then you put the paper on top of it, close it again, spin it, and then it rolls the paper in.
00:03:00
Speaker
Easy, like a one, two, three. Negativity is weak. I agree. Yeah, positivity is showing. How much does that rate it? This is $60. Yeah, it's damn good.
00:03:12
Speaker
It rolls every time. It's a perfect joint every time. hate how heavy it is.
00:03:21
Speaker
I definitely don't want to throw it in my curves and like carry it around all day but like, sing like eight years folks best. Or at a coffee table or something.

Significance of Point Breeze

00:04:13
Speaker
I have quick questions for you. Let's do it. Okay, so tell us the significance of the name Point Breeze. Significance of Point Breeze is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh right next door to where my grandfather and my uncles were. So we were in Homewood Point Breeze right here. And he lived Point Breeze too at a certain point. yeah Okay, so you grew up on the street name? Yeah, well it's like an area. There's like Homewood, there's Point Breeze, there's Oakland, there's East Liberty. They're like all in the same like little stretch of area.
00:04:44
Speaker
Okay. All right. Now I want to ask you some fun questions, too. Okay. Who's the most famous person you've smoked with that's not Snoop Dogg? The most famous approach person I've smoked with that's not Snoop.
00:04:57
Speaker
oh I would have to think. Hold on. I smoke with a lot. Like, wait.
00:05:04
Speaker
Who's, like, under Snoop? Obama? Yeah. You're under Snoop. Yeah, you. and then But i asked him the same question. I said, you can't say Wiz. Yeah. um Well, he smoked Willie Nelson. I didn't get to smoke with Willie.
00:05:17
Speaker
um Be real. I just say be real. Okay. That's dope. That's a good answer. which one is your Which strain is your favorite Khalifa Kush strain? My favorite is the original Khalifa Kush strain. Yeah. Just the OG KK. That's what I'm smoking every day. But these are my babies. These are my kids. You know what I'm saying? That's like my firstborn. Okay, the firstborn is the most special. Okay, got you, got you.

Leisure and Hobbies

00:05:39
Speaker
Okay, so we know you've made songs that are like anthems for football teams. But do you personally play any sports or do anything for leisure? um I don't play. Well, if you would consider like boxing and Muay Thai you know, just training, like...
00:05:55
Speaker
combat sports but like hoops I used to play basketball when I was a kid but as soon as I started rapping okay I saw you got a shot I saw on ESPN you yeah yeah I got a little jumper on mine a pretty athletic but um no just like just combat sports okay final question I see you've been into vinyls can you name your top three my top three right now will have to be uh This Miles Davis record that I have is called, I think it's called Steaming and Working.
00:06:26
Speaker
ah like that one. um This Heat Wave record that I have, always go back to that one, Central Heating. And this it's a tie between this Marvin Gaye live album

Top Vinyl Records

00:06:38
Speaker
that I have.
00:06:39
Speaker
He was in London, I think, and there's a Curtis Mayfield live album that I have. So those are tied for... you know, their spot. All right, Del, thank you so much for answering the questions and for joining us on Sweet Sessions where we smoke weed every day. No doubt.
00:06:54
Speaker
Now that I've spent some time with my Khalifa Kush Point Breeze strain, i have to admit upon first smell, I was in love. And the nose knows when it comes to selecting a strain, pay attention to how you feel after you smell it.
00:07:08
Speaker
If you're not impressed or you feel a little nauseous, that's a sign that it's not for you. But after I smelled it, I was in love. And after I consumed it, i was even more in love. And I must say, out of all the Kalifika strains, this one by far is my favorite.
00:07:26
Speaker
right, so I'm back from Champs. I'm back from Vegas. I've been relaxing and really just focused on growth. There's so much happening in the world right now. Everything seems to be changing. My life even feels so different than it was three months ago.
00:07:40
Speaker
So I'm really just focused on growth and being intentional.

Career Reflections and Growth

00:07:44
Speaker
So some of the things that I've been doing is for the first time in probably 25 years, I'm going through Lent.
00:07:51
Speaker
um I went to Alabama in the country to hang out with friends and find some peace and some nature. I'm doing daily Bible study. um I'm also accepting new realities, figuring out my career. If you know anything about my platform, you know I'm doing a little bit of sports things here and there as well, which bring me so much joy. a moment in my journey where I had to step outside of my comfort zone to level up.
00:08:19
Speaker
was coming out as the cannabis user at the beginning of my career. i grew up in the Midwest or the South. Nobody really claims Oklahoma. And to them, it was like crack cocaine. um And this was 2008.
00:08:33
Speaker
um That's when I began talking about And then actually starting the Instagram in 2019 was so scary. um But I had to do it and it was embraced. And I just always think about what if I would have never done that?
00:08:48
Speaker
I wouldn't be here talking to you right now. Definitely not on a show being produced by one of the biggest donors in the entire world. So that was probably getting started in my career was probably the biggest moment of embracing change.
00:09:03
Speaker
Man, my benchmarks for growth, they change depending where I'm at in life. So right now I'm going through a lot of grief and I lost my mom about three months ago on Christmas Day. So my benchmark my benchmark for success is not cussing people out.
00:09:20
Speaker
But in all seriousness, I don't look at my bank account or awards or anything like that. I really look at me as a person. Am I different than what I was in five years? And was that a net positive or a net negative change? And that's how I measure growth.
00:09:36
Speaker
Maybe your finances don't change. Maybe you don't hit certain goals, but there is a marked change in who you are as a soul and as a spirit. And to me, that's success. When do I know when it's time to pivot versus pushing through a challenge?
00:09:50
Speaker
I don't think I quite have that figured out. I think that's something that I'm still learning on this earth school. Sometimes I do stay in situations too long or sometimes I see things with love and not reality and then I get burned. So I think that's a lesson that I'm still learning.
00:10:07
Speaker
Even with the cannabis cutie and how social media is working, i know that I probably need to tweak things a little bit, but I'm just watching, waiting and trying to figure it out. So that's kind of where I'm at in my life.

Cannabis Industry Challenges

00:10:20
Speaker
What do I think the current state of the cannabis industry is, especially after you're going to Champs? I think there's still an excitement. There's still a lot of passionate people. There's still people in this industry for love.
00:10:30
Speaker
But I also think the industry is in survival mode. We're constantly seeing new brands, um people retiring their companies, always new faces, and it's kind of sad.
00:10:42
Speaker
Now, what we do see existing is like the adjacent businesses, the lighter companies, the rolling paper companies, the e-devices. Those people are sticking around because they have a different set of laws and taxes, but for the flower-touching industry itself,
00:10:56
Speaker
It's rough out here and my heart goes out to everyone who is struggling to stay afloat and kudos to you if you've been doing it. And my prayer is that you keep doing it. ooh Shifting regulations are going to affect your business all the time, which is why you kind of need a regulatory person on your staff, a lawyer who can constantly make sure that everything that you're doing is within the laws because in california sometimes they change every 90 days um so you have to be mindful of what's going on to keep your business compliant so that you don't lose it but the changing laws pose an even even greater headache to the industry
00:11:34
Speaker
Ooh, what's missing around the conversation for sustainability and long-term growth? You know, this might make some people mad, but the whole jar system, out of pocket. We really, really have to figure out some kind of solution that's not as wasteful, especially for people who consume maybe eight of those jars a week times 52 weeks, and they're all going to a landfill. Now multiply that by millions of people, and now you see the impact of the problem.
00:12:03
Speaker
I also think since we're now closer to full-scale legalization, hopefully, we need to address indoor growing. The only reason why we were really doing it is because you couldn't do it outside because of those helicopter raids.
00:12:16
Speaker
It was a beautiful solution for the time being, and we actually learned how to control an environment to get exactly what we want from these plants. But a lot of that, if it can, should go back outside because...
00:12:27
Speaker
The carbon footprint of these grows and the lights and the fans and everything that goes into operating one of these grows is insane.
00:12:37
Speaker
So if we could, i would love to see climates that can support outdoor growing move towards outdoor growing. Now let's talk about growing online as a cannabis

Social Media and Sports Content

00:12:49
Speaker
creator. If you are one or you're thinking about being one,
00:12:53
Speaker
You need to know these things. First of all, the C word, the M word, the W word can get you shadow banned. Now they have AI that can really just crawl your videos and see if you're violating any of the community guidelines, which are really difficult to do, or which is really easy to do.
00:13:11
Speaker
When I started my journey, Instagram allowed you to talk about it. That was okay in then in the community guidelines. Now, in the community guidelines, you're not even allowed to talk about it. So growing a platform can be very difficult.
00:13:24
Speaker
You have to learn how to get creative so that you don't get any strikes on your account, so they don't mute your videos, so they don't age-gate them. i still haven't figured that out. I'm pretty sure I'm on a watch list and maybe it's time to rebrand my name so that it's not constantly being triggered by the internet.
00:13:42
Speaker
But just know that it's not something that is easy or there's a lot of stress. Let's put it that way. You might wake up and your account is down.
00:13:53
Speaker
I've woken up to that 14 times.
00:13:56
Speaker
I've been deactivated 14 times and you freak out because it's your business. It's your community. Like, what am I going to do with everything? Just all of a sudden they decided to take it. it feels like such a violation and it's just something that you might have to accept and know that you might go up against that once or twice or 14 times.
00:14:16
Speaker
i decided it was time to pivot. A couple years ago, I've been wanting to get into sports. I just didn't know how to do it because at my core, I want to teach.
00:14:27
Speaker
I can get on the internet and talk about sports just for an opinion, but I'm always thinking about what value am I bringing people? So finally, that idea was, oh, I'll make a show where I teach people to sport a football because I have...
00:14:41
Speaker
Tons of friends that don't watch football, but will watch it with me. And then I teach them about it and they actually find an interest and like the sport. So that's one of the ways that I got into it. And I'm still actually figuring that out. I'm at a point in my life where I'm trying not to control everything too much.
00:14:58
Speaker
I set the goals. I create the plan and then I let the plan go in the direction that it's intended to. Ooh, sticking to your vision while also adapting to change is just all about intentionality. Just like when you consume a blunt, set your intention. Just like when you're about to eat a plate of food, set your intention.
00:15:17
Speaker
So that's all I try to do. And when I start feeling lost, I always go back to that, which is ground zero. Why am I doing this? Your why

Finding Joy and Purpose

00:15:25
Speaker
matters so much. And if it doesn't make sense anymore, then you really know it's time to pivot.
00:15:30
Speaker
Advice to give to someone who feels stuck and wants to grow. Ask yourself what it is that makes you feel good when you do this activity. feel great when I help people learn something new. i feel so empowered, like I help change their world and I want to do that for everyone. So I collect a lot of information naturally because I'm curious and then I just disseminate it to the world.
00:15:55
Speaker
So ask yourself, what is it? Is it creating art? Is it interpreting art That's the thing that you run towards because your desire is a clue on what it is that you're supposed to be doing.
00:16:06
Speaker
So speaking of intention and growth, I am going to expand my horizons and set my intention for you to enjoy this next segment, which is me dressing up and going to a high T in West Hollywood at the artist tree.

Cannabis-Infused Events

00:16:34
Speaker
Today I'm getting ready to go to a high tea. And ah high tea is just basically a tea time, ah little elevated if you know what I mean. And listen, don't give me a theme to a party or an event because I am going to show out. And that's what I did today.
00:16:50
Speaker
Last year I went to high tea with my friends and we definitely were giving Bridgerton And I wanted to give the same vibes today. Very much classy. Very much fun. And my girl Dijoné, I know she's going to come and show out too.
00:17:06
Speaker
I'm so excited to see Dijoné. She's one of my favorite women in the cannabis space and I've known her for so long. And I just really want to catch up with her and see how her life is going.
00:17:26
Speaker
Shh.
00:17:34
Speaker
the
00:18:37
Speaker
you're goingnna take And the artistry with one the owners, I Courtney. She is the mind behind this beautiful afternoon. all of the china that see is actually her collection. Can you tell us more
00:18:52
Speaker
that?
00:18:56
Speaker
she is the mine behind this beautiful afternoon and all of the china that you see is actually her collection can you tell us more about that So when I got married, I had this crazy idea that I wanted to have mismatched China for 250 people at my wedding. And I started this massive collection.
00:19:14
Speaker
And then when I got into the cannabis industry and we named our stores The Artist Tree, I thought, how can we not have a high tea by The Artist Tree? Which then meant a total new reason to reuse all this China. Right. This is actually my second time coming and I always love coming. I always love to dress up for the occasion and I loved a little snacks.
00:19:34
Speaker
Can you tell us about the art of infusing and tea? So we believe that infusing cannabis can be done um for fun activities or even on a daily basis in a micro dosing type way rather than utilizing other substances.
00:19:49
Speaker
So what we're trying to do is normalize the idea of regular events, but giving you an opportunity to consume cannabis in a way that's going to suit you to still be productive in your daily life. That's amazing. Where do you envision this idea being in 10 years?
00:20:03
Speaker
Oh, I mean, I would love to have high tea parties be something that you have in your home for your girlfriends or for a bridal shower or um maybe a wedding anniversary party or something like that. But it can go beyond high teas. We can find different ways to bring in cannabis chefs and have special curated dinners or farm to table, but utilizing different cannabis ingredients to just give you an experience that's completely different from something else you might have.
00:20:29
Speaker
Well, I'm a fan. I love what you're doing here. Thank you for having me. i'm excited to see the next one and I'm going to finish hanging out with my friends. Okay.

Personal Growth and Retreats

00:20:38
Speaker
So part of my change strategy was doing Lent.
00:20:40
Speaker
One second.
00:20:45
Speaker
I decided to go through Lint and I was like, oh, I'll just give up red meat. That's easy, I just won't buy it and I won't put myself in situations where I'm tempted. And then I decided to go to this retreat at Culture Valley Farms in Alabama with one of my best friends in the entire world, the ganja guru.
00:21:03
Speaker
And wouldn't you know it, they had all kinds of pig and goat and cow. I mean, oxtail, ribs, pork shoulder, and I couldn't have any of it. It was the biggest test.
00:21:18
Speaker
And sometimes that happens. You pray about something, you set your intention, and then that test comes right around the corner. And I was tested. I survived because I'm actually committed to my goals and I want to feel good at the end of these 40 days and 40 nights.
00:21:34
Speaker
beau
00:21:36
Speaker
But I had a great time. I got to spend time with all kinds of animals. I saw beautiful views, peaceful, quiet land. I was around my friends. I got to see the stars and watch an eclipse in real time.
00:21:50
Speaker
I got to witness a thunderstorm and tornado warnings, something that's very reminiscent of growing up in Oklahoma. I felt bad for the other people who weren't used to that experience, but for me, there was some kind of peace and calm with it, even though it was really cold and wet.
00:22:06
Speaker
My most favorite experience out in Alabama was this hammock. And I would get in this hammock and the wind would just kind of slightly sway me. And I was like, man, I understand why babies like to swing and sleep in that. I could do this all day. And I really was. My friends had to keep waking me up and bringing me food and just trying to get me to go do things because I took a two and a half hour nap my first session with it. So if you could just imagine the rest of the trip, me in that hammock.

Half Marathon Training

00:22:34
Speaker
were like this and i miss you so much bae
00:22:39
Speaker
another thing that i'm doing a part of this growth and change experience is running and if you know me i only run to chase a ball or i have a ball in my hand or running from a boy it But I decided to sign up for a half marathon, the Nike After Dark half marathon that's happening in Inglewood this summer. And I cannot believe it because I've never even run a 5K before. In fact, I think the first time I ever ran three miles straight. was training for this event. So that I can't, still can't wrap my head around it, but I have the support of my tennis club, 2Me Tennis Club.
00:23:18
Speaker
We have a run club. We're doing it together. And i just hope I survive, but I got to push myself for radical change. To be honest, one of the main reasons I signed up for this half marathon is because when we're done at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, we get a Dochi concert.
00:23:37
Speaker
Shout out to Nike. First of all, like if that doesn't motivate you to get to the finish line, I don't know what will. So that is probably the biggest thing about the race outside of radical change.

Significance of Swede Sessions

00:23:53
Speaker
So we've talked about growing in the industry, in my career, in life. But I want to talk about growing Swede Sessions and why it's important to me. If you've seen my work, you will know that I have had and been on so many shows.
00:24:08
Speaker
Because I love to communicate and get messages out there and I'm sure there'll be more shows, but Sweet Sessions is really important to me because I feel this is the realest version that you'll get of me. You'll get the sports side, you'll get the fun side. I feel I've been more vulnerable in this one episode than I have in totality of all the shows that I've done.
00:24:29
Speaker
I want to continue to do that in Sweet Sessions because, again, it's part of the growth. Being vulnerable enough to share who I really am with the world and pray that you accept me.
00:24:41
Speaker
But this is an open space for us to grow

Episode Conclusion and Future Plans

00:24:43
Speaker
together. i love when you guys... comment or DM me about the episode and we have real discussion about what went on or you get more answers to questions that you already have.
00:24:53
Speaker
I'll be bringing in more cool people every episode so that you can learn more about what they have going on and more about me. I'll be taking you to so many cool places and I don't really go out much unless it's really worth it. So you're going to see some really cool events and opportunities and I'm going to join in. And you'll be learning about so many cool products on Swede.com.
00:25:11
Speaker
Thanks so much for tuning into this episode of Swede Sessions. And I will see you for our next session. thank
